Latest / Podcast - Big 98.7 / These Words Sound Dirty
Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: Yesterday, Gabe and I learned the word diurnal. We were
- 0:07Speaker 1: talking about nocturnal, something being nocturnal. And then we thought, wait,
- 0:12Speaker 1: what's the opposite of nocturnal?
- 0:14Speaker 2: And the opposite.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Daylight.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Yeah, we didn't know.
- 0:18Speaker 1: So we looked it up and it's diurnal, which means
- 0:21Speaker 1: of or during the day. However, if you're like us,
- 0:26Speaker 1: I think diurnal sounds a little bit dirty.
- 0:29Speaker 4: Yeah, it.
- 0:31Speaker 5: Sounds like something you'd go ask your doctor about.
- 0:34Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 0:34Speaker 6: Can you check my diurnal?
- 0:36Speaker 7: Yeah. Exactly.
- 0:38Speaker 2: So that got me thinking.
- 0:41Speaker 1: There are lots of words that sound dirty but aren't actually.
- 0:46Speaker 1: So I want to guess. tell you some of these words, Gabe. Okay,
- 0:50Speaker 1: I'm down to learn something here.
- 0:51Speaker 2: And I want you to know if you think they
- 0:52Speaker 2: sound dirty.
- 0:53Speaker 7: Okay.
- 0:53Speaker 1: But then I'll give you the real definition so we
- 0:56Speaker 1: don't get in trouble by the FCC.
- 0:58Speaker 7: Alright.
- 0:59Speaker 3: Cockles.
- 1:01Speaker 6: Oh, hold on, hold on.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Talk dirty to me.
- 1:04Speaker 2: That's right.
- 1:05Speaker 6: Cockles.
- 1:08Speaker 5: I have no idea what that means.
- 1:11Speaker 6: It sounds dirty, of course.
- 1:12Speaker 2: It does sound dirty. It is an edible mollusk. So
- 1:17Speaker 2: like a sea little creature thing in the show.
- 1:21Speaker 6: Do you know where I've heard this word?
- 1:22Speaker 7: Where?
- 1:23Speaker 6: Game of Thrones. Oh, okay, yes.
- 1:26Speaker 5: That is so funny, yeah. Definitely a dirty sounding.
- 1:30Speaker 6: Word for sure.
- 1:30Speaker 2: All right, here's the next one.
- 1:33Speaker 3: Dongle.
- 1:34Speaker 6: Oh, yeah. A dongle.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Do you know what a dongle is?
- 1:38Speaker 5: Is that the thing you plug your... It, like, plugs
- 1:42Speaker 5: into your phone, right?
- 1:43Speaker 1: Yes, it's a small device that's able to be connected to, like,
- 1:46Speaker 1: a computer or a phone, an adapter.
- 1:49Speaker 2: The dongle.
- 1:50Speaker 5: Yeah, it's almost like an adapter or, like, a weird
- 1:52Speaker 5: extension cord.
- 1:53Speaker 2: I would just call it that. I don't know why
- 1:55Speaker 2: the dongle. Okay, here's the last one.
- 1:59Speaker 7: Okay.
- 2:00Speaker 2: A shuttlecock.
- 2:01Speaker 3: So dirty to me.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Do you know what a shuttlecock is?
- 2:06Speaker 6: I do know what that is.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Okay, please regale us.
- 2:08Speaker 6: It is the... It's also known as a birdie, and
- 2:13Speaker 6: you would use it in badminton.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Yes!
- 2:15Speaker 1: So I just feel like, always call it a birdie.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Why did anybody think.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Well, it's a shuttlecock. I gotta hit the shuttlecock.
- 2:26Speaker 8: Celebrating life's little victories. Every morning we practice gratitude on
- 2:31Speaker 8: Big 98.7. If I could, I would keep this feeling
- 2:35Speaker 8: in a plastic jar.
- 2:36Speaker 6: Bust it out whenever someone's acting hard.
- 2:38Speaker 8: Share your little victories with us at 701-280-1987. Kids, I
- 2:41Speaker 8: also needed a win that day.
- 2:46Speaker 6: Angie, do you have a little victory for us this morning?
- 2:49Speaker 1: At my son's elementary school, if you exhibit positive behavior
- 2:55Speaker 1: that aligns with like their little mantra that they have
- 2:58Speaker 1: at his school, then a teacher or whoever witnesses it
- 3:02Speaker 1: will hand you a little ticket that's like a praise
- 3:05Speaker 1: ticket saying like.
- 3:07Speaker 2: I exhibited this amazing behavior. Ask me about my day.
- 3:10Speaker 1: And like they bring it home to you and Then
- 3:13Speaker 1: you ask them about their day. And it was that
- 3:16Speaker 1: Liam helped get the class to be quiet without yelling
- 3:20Speaker 1: at them to shut up, which.
- 3:22Speaker 6: Is good news. Yeah, that is good news for Liam.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Yeah, he did the teacher approved way for trying to
- 3:30Speaker 1: get a class to settle down. And I mean, clearly
- 3:35Speaker 1: they loved that and they gave him one of the tickets.
- 3:38Speaker 1: I was really proud of him. And so I was like, okay,
- 3:40Speaker 1: but what exactly did you do? Cause I'm trying to
- 3:41Speaker 1: implement this at home when you and your brother won't
- 3:45Speaker 1: be quiet.
- 3:47Speaker 6: But yeah, that was it. Did he tell you what
- 3:48Speaker 6: it was?
- 3:49Speaker 3: Yeah, he did.
- 3:50Speaker 1: And it's a nonverbal communication, so I can't, I can't
- 3:53Speaker 1: do it on air and it mean anything. But, you know,
- 3:56Speaker 1: later today when you won't shut your mouth, Gabe, I'll
- 3:59Speaker 1: do it to you and you'll know.
- 4:00Speaker 7: Okay. All right.
- 4:01Speaker 6: I'm looking forward to testing that out here.
- 4:03Speaker 5: We did have Julia who texted this morning and said,
- 4:06Speaker 5: little victories. My kids started swim lessons after a year-long break,
- 4:11Speaker 5: and my five-year-old finally put her face in the water
- 4:14Speaker 5: at lessons. She really struggled with this before, which is
- 4:17Speaker 5: why we took a break from the swim lessons. My
- 4:20Speaker 5: three-year-old did great as well for her first time in
- 4:23Speaker 5: lessons without mom.
- 4:25Speaker 6: Or dad.
- 4:26Speaker 2: And now this is incredible.
- 4:28Speaker 1: I do not know how to swim and I'm 39
- 4:31Speaker 1: years old, so I'm really impressed.
- 4:33Speaker 6: We also did.
- 4:34Speaker 5: We just got this text not six seconds ago. This
- 4:38Speaker 5: person says I I didn't get mandated today going home
- 4:42Speaker 5: to sleep.
- 4:43Speaker 6: Wahoo. Is that some something to do with their job?
- 4:47Speaker 2: Yeah, something to do with their job. And then you
- 4:49Speaker 2: didn't have to go and you get to go to sleep. Excellent.
- 4:52Speaker 5: That's wonderful news. Maybe on the way they got to
- 4:55Speaker 5: turn around then.
- 4:56Speaker 6: Is what we're learning.
- 4:57Speaker 2: The very last thing, they're hearing us. That's the last
- 5:00Speaker 2: thing and then you get to go to bed.
- 5:01Speaker 7: Lovely.
- 5:02Speaker 5: Congratulations to you, Texter, this morning. My little victory. I
- 5:07Speaker 5: did not realize this, but if you are ever... Going,
- 5:10Speaker 5: oh my gosh, we don't really want to make anything
- 5:12Speaker 5: for dinner. Like, nothing sounds good. I was shocked, isn't
- 5:15Speaker 5: the word. I was pleasantly surprised.
- 5:17Speaker 7: Okay.
- 5:18Speaker 5: My wife and I went grocery shopping at Aldi the
- 5:21Speaker 5: other day.
- 5:22Speaker 7: Oh, I love Aldi.
- 5:22Speaker 5: It was my wife, my daughter, and me. And we
- 5:26Speaker 5: were running around grabbing whatever we had to grab. And
- 5:28Speaker 5: then we both kind of looked at each other, which
- 5:30Speaker 5: it's strange how it works. You go grocery shopping, then
- 5:33Speaker 5: you're like, I don't want to cook any of this.
- 5:34Speaker 6: Of course you don't.
- 5:36Speaker 5: Well, we got one of those Aldi, like, take-and-bake pizzas.
- 5:41Speaker 7: Oh.
- 5:42Speaker 6: I was.
- 5:44Speaker 5: Very surprised by how good this thing actually was. I mean,
- 5:47Speaker 5: pizza is one of those things like even bad pizza
- 5:49Speaker 5: is pretty good. Yeah, but it was great. We loved it.
- 5:54Speaker 6: It was wonderful.
- 5:54Speaker 5: So the next time if you're like, I don't really
- 5:56Speaker 5: know what to do. I don't want to make anything.
- 5:58Speaker 6: Yada, yada, yada.
- 5:59Speaker 5: Maybe check out one of these little take and bake
- 6:01Speaker 5: all these pizzas. They were incredible.
- 6:03Speaker 1: I used to get them a lot when we very
- 6:05Speaker 1: first moved here. But then it became like an obsession.
- 6:08Speaker 1: So I was like, we got to take a break.
- 6:09Speaker 6: We got to take it down.
- 6:11Speaker 5: Either way, I could not have been more pleasantly surprised
- 6:14Speaker 5: by that. And no one had to cook dinner last night.
- 6:17Speaker 5: That is a little victory right there.
- 6:19Speaker 7: Am I weird?
- 6:20Speaker 8: Yes.
- 6:25Speaker 5: Well, the reason I bring this up, I want to know,
- 6:27Speaker 5: is there, what's the strangest thing about you?
- 6:31Speaker 7: 701-280-1987.
- 6:31Speaker 5: I know the saying.
- 6:34Speaker 6: Like quirks? Yeah, I know the saying is misery loves company.
- 6:38Speaker 5: Yeah. I just, misery to me loves misery. I need
- 6:42Speaker 5: some other weird people.
- 6:43Speaker 7: Okay.
- 6:44Speaker 6: I'm crying out for help this morning.
- 6:46Speaker 7: Why? I mean, for sure.
- 6:48Speaker 1: You're weird, but what specifically is.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Making you think about this?
- 6:52Speaker 5: Well, yesterday, Angie and I were on a phone meeting,
- 6:55Speaker 5: and I realized halfway through, oh my God, I have
- 6:58Speaker 5: been fidgeting with this thing forever.
- 7:01Speaker 6: Which sounds wild to say it like that, but for
- 7:03Speaker 6: 30 minutes.
- 7:05Speaker 7: What?
- 7:05Speaker 2: I wasn't there for that.
- 7:06Speaker 6: What is this thing called that I have in my hand? Oh,
- 7:09Speaker 6: a binder clip. A binder clip.
- 7:11Speaker 5: It's got the black V thing and the two silver things.
- 7:15Speaker 2: When I was little, I thought it looked like a
- 7:17Speaker 2: little purse.
- 7:18Speaker 6: Yeah, to me it looks almost like a butterfly kind
- 7:20Speaker 6: of thing.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Oh, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 7:22Speaker 5: I have learned this about myself a lot in the
- 7:25Speaker 5: past month and a half or so. But I just
- 7:29Speaker 5: fidget with things that are not meant to be fidget spinners.
- 7:33Speaker 6: I will play with this thing the entire show.
- 7:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:37Speaker 6: You know, like tags on blankets?
- 7:40Speaker 1: Yes.
- 7:41Speaker 6: Same thing.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Ew, really?
- 7:43Speaker 6: I will fidget with these tags.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Oh, I don't do that.
- 7:46Speaker 6: It's the weirdest thing on earth.
- 7:49Speaker 1: I just feel like everyone has their little things right.
- 7:52Speaker 1: For me, it's anytime there's a sticker on something, not
- 7:57Speaker 1: like a sticker like a good job sticker, but like
- 8:00Speaker 1: a sticker tag, for example, I peel it off and
- 8:04Speaker 1: then I roll it up really tightly, almost like it's
- 8:06Speaker 1: a little swisher.
- 8:08Speaker 6: Yeah, okay.
- 8:09Speaker 2: And then I just rub it between my hands forever.
- 8:12Speaker 6: I do the same thing.
- 8:14Speaker 7: Oh, okay.
- 8:15Speaker 5: I do that all the time. You know when you
- 8:17Speaker 5: get silverware at a restaurant? There's the little sticker thing
- 8:22Speaker 5: that holds the napkin over it?
- 8:24Speaker 7: Yes.
- 8:24Speaker 6: All the time fidgeting with that thing.
- 8:26Speaker 2: Me too. I roll that up too.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Me too.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I think you and I just both have manual fixations.
- 8:32Speaker 1: We're fidgeters in that way.
- 8:34Speaker 6: I don't know what it's called, but I got it.
- 8:37Speaker 7: 701-280-1987.
- 8:37Speaker 5: What's your little quirk? What's your little strange kind of quirk?
- 8:43Speaker 5: Mine is fidgeting with basically anything and everything. When they
- 8:48Speaker 5: invented the fidget spinners and the fidget cubes, I could
- 8:51Speaker 5: have been a gajillionaire because there's a hundred things that
- 8:54Speaker 5: I already do that with.
- 8:56Speaker 7: Big 98.7.
- 9:04Speaker 5: What's the craziest punishment you ever had growing up?
- 9:09Speaker 7: 701-280-1987.
- 9:09Speaker 5: It is kind of, maybe I'm just like a sick individual,
- 9:13Speaker 5: but I have thought about, you know, if my daughter
- 9:17Speaker 5: was in trouble growing up, not like in trouble needed help.
- 9:20Speaker 6: I mean, like got in trouble.
- 9:21Speaker 5: Yeah. What would I do? Am I like the type
- 9:24Speaker 5: of parent to ground her? Am I the type of
- 9:26Speaker 5: parent to I probably won't be much of a yeller.
- 9:29Speaker 5: I'm not really a yeller in my regular life.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Yeah, that's good.
- 9:32Speaker 6: But what would I do?
- 9:34Speaker 5: And I thought of this idea and I want to
- 9:36Speaker 5: know if this is insane. 701-280-1987, by the way, craziest
- 9:42Speaker 5: punishment you ever had growing up.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Gabe is clearly looking for ideas.
- 9:46Speaker 6: That's right.
- 9:46Speaker 5: I know that you have a story close to this
- 9:49Speaker 5: of a punishment that was pretty, pretty nuts.
- 9:52Speaker 7: Oh, yeah.
- 9:53Speaker 2: It was not me. It was my sister.
- 9:55Speaker 1: And therefore, I was very careful about all of my
- 9:57Speaker 1: actions after witnessing.
- 10:00Speaker 2: What happened to her.
- 10:00Speaker 1: My sister, when she turned 16, she went to like
- 10:04Speaker 1: a neighbor's house and she partook in consuming alcohol, okay?
- 10:10Speaker 8: Oh, wow.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Which, obviously, illegal. Do not recommend. But, you know, teenagers
- 10:15Speaker 1: be teenagers. Couldn't control what my sister was doing. So
- 10:18Speaker 1: she went and she got, she wasted. And my mom
- 10:23Speaker 1: had to pick her up from this neighbor's house. And
- 10:27Speaker 1: I knew, my mom is so old school Latina that
- 10:31Speaker 1: it's like, oh, you about to be grounded for life.
- 10:34Speaker 2: And close. My sister was grounded for two years.
- 10:39Speaker 6: Which is insane.
- 10:40Speaker 1: She was ungrounded on her 18th birthday. I think my
- 10:43Speaker 1: mom would have grounded her longer, but, you know, adult
- 10:46Speaker 1: at 18.
- 10:46Speaker 2: So she couldn't.
- 10:47Speaker 1: But quite literally, my sister could not leave to do anything.
- 10:51Speaker 1: She could go to school and she could come back.
- 10:54Speaker 1: And she could come with us to like family functions.
- 10:57Speaker 7: Family stuff, yeah.
- 10:58Speaker 1: But that was it. And I felt so bad for her.
- 11:02Speaker 1: I used to, like my sister would go across the
- 11:04Speaker 1: street to hang out with the neighbors while my mom
- 11:06Speaker 1: was at work. And then my mom would call. This
- 11:09Speaker 1: was back when there were no cell phones. It was
- 11:11Speaker 1: cordless phones, though. And my mom would call me, like,
- 11:13Speaker 1: put Vivi on the phone. And I'd be like, oh, yeah,
- 11:15Speaker 1: hang on. I think she's in the bathroom. And I
- 11:18Speaker 1: would run so fast across the street, fingers crossed that
- 11:22Speaker 1: the connection on this cordless phone would hold. And so, like,
- 11:26Speaker 1: she did get out every once in a while. But, like,
- 11:29Speaker 1: it was rough. Honestly, I think that affected my sister
- 11:32Speaker 1: for life.
- 11:32Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 11:34Speaker 2: So don't suggest that.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Don't ground your kid for two years.
- 11:37Speaker 2: That's aggressive.
- 11:39Speaker 1: What is your plan? What is your punishment?
- 11:44Speaker 5: Well, I do have this idea. I want to hear
- 11:45Speaker 5: from Brandy first, though. We have Brandy on the phone. Brandy,
- 11:48Speaker 5: what was the craziest punishment you ever had?
- 11:50Speaker 3: My mom caught.
- 11:51Speaker 9: Me sneaking out when I was 16 and grounded me
- 11:54Speaker 9: for the entire summer. We're talking no car, no friends,
- 11:58Speaker 9: no phone after nine. I swear I served a prison
- 12:02Speaker 9: sentence for going to a bonfire.
- 12:06Speaker 6: Well, when you're a kid.
- 12:07Speaker 2: That was a light sentence.
- 12:09Speaker 6: Compared to your sister.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Compared to my sisters.
- 12:11Speaker 6: Yeah, but that's rough.
- 12:13Speaker 5: There was one time I left a light on in
- 12:15Speaker 5: my room growing up. And this is 1,000% why I
- 12:18Speaker 5: am the way I am today about lights. I had
- 12:22Speaker 5: left it on and I went to go do whatever.
- 12:24Speaker 5: And my dad was not happy that I would leave
- 12:27Speaker 5: lights on like that.
- 12:29Speaker 2: Electricity costs money, honey.
- 12:30Speaker 6: It does, yeah.
- 12:31Speaker 5: And he once had me sit in my room, which
- 12:34Speaker 5: this would have driven the electricity bill through the roof.
- 12:38Speaker 5: But he had me sit there and count out loud,
- 12:40Speaker 5: turning this light off and on to 100.
- 12:43Speaker 3: What?
- 12:44Speaker 5: Yeah, and I had to count loud enough for him
- 12:46Speaker 5: to hear me in a different room. So you best
- 12:48Speaker 5: believe I never left a light on ever again.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Wow.
- 12:51Speaker 7: It worked.
- 12:52Speaker 2: It taught you a lesson for sure.
- 12:53Speaker 6: Yeah, it did.
- 12:54Speaker 5: I have this idea for when my daughter eventually grows
- 12:57Speaker 5: up to be a little bit older and does something
- 12:59Speaker 5: that gets her in trouble, which will inevitably happen like
- 13:02Speaker 5: it does with every kid.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:04Speaker 5: I was making a sandwich the other day and I
- 13:06Speaker 5: was putting mayonnaise on this sandwich, but we were getting
- 13:09Speaker 5: to the point where there's like not a ton of
- 13:11Speaker 5: mayonnaise in it. And you know how you're kind of
- 13:13Speaker 5: digging and scraping the sides? I had thought what a
- 13:16Speaker 5: punishment it would be if there was something that was
- 13:19Speaker 5: really bad and I made her sit there and scrape
- 13:22Speaker 5: out a jar of mayonnaise until there was none left
- 13:25Speaker 5: in it.
- 13:26Speaker 6: That would take so long.
- 13:29Speaker 2: That would take so long. I'm actually stealing that.
- 13:32Speaker 1: My kids never get like any punishments because I don't know.
- 13:36Speaker 1: I'm worried I'm always going to go too far because
- 13:37Speaker 1: I was raised by a mad woman.
- 13:39Speaker 4: Right.
- 13:39Speaker 2: And so I never. But this this is a good idea.
- 13:42Speaker 5: It would take a long time if you can see
- 13:45Speaker 5: a little speck on the corner.
- 13:46Speaker 6: Now you got to dig it out.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 13:50Speaker 5: Yeah, 701-280-1987. Craziest punishment you ever received growing up. I
- 13:54Speaker 5: might need some ideas from your parents.
- 13:57Speaker 7: Drop it, drop it. Big 98.7.
- 13:59Speaker 3: This is Am I the Problem?
- 14:02Speaker 7: It's me.
- 14:06Speaker 3: We'll hear one side of the story and with your help.
- 14:09Speaker 7: Am I the problem?
- 14:10Speaker 8: Decide if it's right or if maybe you're the problem.
- 14:14Speaker 7: I'm hardly the problem.
- 14:15Speaker 3: On Big 98.7.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Do we have to stop this man from asking his
- 14:20Speaker 1: girlfriend this question?
- 14:22Speaker 2: Hey, it's Brady.
- 14:23Speaker 1: I guess I'm asking advice on this before I make
- 14:26Speaker 1: a mistake asking my girlfriend this question.
- 14:28Speaker 6: Is he proposing?
- 14:30Speaker 1: She sees a therapist and I want to know if
- 14:33Speaker 1: she talks about me during their sessions. I kind of
- 14:36Speaker 1: feel like I should know what's being said about me
- 14:39Speaker 1: if she is because I'm not there to defend myself.
- 14:42Speaker 1: What if she's getting advice from this lady based on
- 14:45Speaker 1: inaccurate information?
- 14:47Speaker 2: Is that fair for me to ask? What do you think? 701-280-1987.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Call us, text us. We also have this on the
- 14:55Speaker 1: Big 98.7 Facebook page.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Gabe, what are your thoughts? You asking this question?
- 15:00Speaker 6: Zero chance.
- 15:01Speaker 2: Why?
- 15:02Speaker 5: No chance. This sounds so dude to me. What if
- 15:07Speaker 5: there's inaccurate information? I better fix it and correct it
- 15:10Speaker 5: right now. It sounds so guy. No, therapy, that is
- 15:14Speaker 5: for her. That is for her to discuss what she
- 15:16Speaker 5: needs to discuss. That is for her to... express certain
- 15:19Speaker 5: things that she needs to express.
- 15:21Speaker 6: And you might not be aware of this. Brady, is
- 15:24Speaker 6: that his name? Brady?
- 15:25Speaker 5: A lot of, not a lot of times, but there
- 15:27Speaker 5: are times in these therapy sessions that she would maybe
- 15:32Speaker 5: talk about you because of course that is happening.
- 15:34Speaker 6: And the therapist is on your side.
- 15:37Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying?
- 15:38Speaker 6: Have you ever thought of it that way?
- 15:39Speaker 5: Maybe they're trying to work through something with her involving
- 15:43Speaker 5: you when, I know this is a long shot, but
- 15:45Speaker 5: you might kind of be in the right.
- 15:47Speaker 6: That does happen.
- 15:49Speaker 5: But no, that therapy session is for her, and she
- 15:53Speaker 5: should be able to act however, discuss however, discuss about
- 15:57Speaker 5: whatever she would like in those therapy sessions.
- 16:00Speaker 6: That is 1,000% for her.
- 16:00Speaker 7: I think....
- 16:04Speaker 2: You can ask, Brady.
- 16:06Speaker 1: However, the caveat is, if you are going to ask,
- 16:10Speaker 1: you have to A, be willing to accept whatever her
- 16:13Speaker 1: truthful answer is.
- 16:15Speaker 6: Do you want to know the answer.
- 16:17Speaker 7: To this or not?
- 16:17Speaker 2: Yeah, because what if it's something you don't like? Well,
- 16:20Speaker 2: you asked.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Don't ask questions you don't want the real answer to.
- 16:23Speaker 6: That's right.
- 16:24Speaker 2: That happens a lot.
- 16:25Speaker 1: And the other thing is, if you're so concerned... maybe
- 16:29Speaker 1: you should go to couples therapy. And I don't even
- 16:31Speaker 1: think couples therapy is if like you're going through something
- 16:34Speaker 1: horrible and you're on the verge of splitting. I think
- 16:36Speaker 1: couples therapy is healthy regardless. But if you're going to
- 16:40Speaker 1: ask about what's being said in therapy, then you have
- 16:43Speaker 1: to be willing to accept what is said and even
- 16:46Speaker 1: go to therapy yourself if you want to really have
- 16:50Speaker 1: all the insight.
- 16:51Speaker 6: Yeah, you got to be prepared for some tough truths.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Yeah, so I guess, yeah, ask at your peril. Or
- 17:00Speaker 1: just take Gabe's advice.
- 17:01Speaker 2: No, absolutely not. What do you think? 701-280-1987.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Have you ever been in this situation? What's your advice
- 17:07Speaker 1: for Brady?
- 17:08Speaker 7: Drop it, drop it. Big 98.7.
- 17:15Speaker 1: Brady's girlfriend sees a therapist and he wants to know
- 17:19Speaker 1: if he's OK to ask, hey, you're talking about me
- 17:23Speaker 1: in therapy. And if you do, what do you say?
- 17:26Speaker 1: He is concerned that maybe it's not the move. And
- 17:29Speaker 1: that's why he wrote to us.
- 17:30Speaker 5: See, there's the problem, is he's concerned about what she
- 17:33Speaker 5: might be talking about.
- 17:34Speaker 6: I think the question is fair. Like, oh, hey, do
- 17:36Speaker 6: you talk about me in therapy?
- 17:38Speaker 5: Yeah. And then if she's like, yes, that's where it ends.
- 17:40Speaker 5: Then you'd be like, oh, interesting. That's where you get out.
- 17:44Speaker 2: Yeah, that's, yeah, I feel like that's the move.
- 17:46Speaker 5: But wanting to have a say in how it goes
- 17:49Speaker 5: is a big no-no.
- 17:50Speaker 1: Yeah, that seems like some weird self-preservation that's actually going
- 17:54Speaker 1: to lead to your demise, sir.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Alyssa said, no, absolutely not. That time is perfect. for
- 18:00Speaker 2: her to talk about whatever she wants.
- 18:02Speaker 1: I'm sure she talks about you with her friends, too,
- 18:05Speaker 1: who also give her advice.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Are you concerned about that, too?
- 18:09Speaker 1: Maybe he can join a session if she and the
- 18:12Speaker 1: therapist are open to that.
- 18:14Speaker 6: Oh, yeah, that is possible.
- 18:15Speaker 2: That is a good point. Where does that end, sir?
- 18:17Speaker 1: Because, yeah, girls always talk about their dude with their girlfriends.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Are you asking that, too?
- 18:23Speaker 6: That's a good point.
- 18:24Speaker 5: I remember a conversation early on in Corey and Mai's relationship. Now,
- 18:28Speaker 5: we have been together over a decade at this point.
- 18:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:31Speaker 5: And I remember it was one of the smartest conversations.
- 18:34Speaker 6: Greatest moments of my life.
- 18:36Speaker 5: All right, this is a shout out to any dude
- 18:38Speaker 5: out there who might need some advice. is I always
- 18:41Speaker 5: told Corey, hey, I don't care if you talk about
- 18:44Speaker 5: me with your friends. I know you need that to
- 18:46Speaker 5: vent or if I'm being annoying or whatever. That's totally fine.
- 18:49Speaker 5: I don't want to know anything about that.
- 18:52Speaker 6: Just do me a favor. Tell the truth.
- 18:54Speaker 5: Just don't make something up. But if you need to
- 18:59Speaker 5: vent about me, that's totally fair and totally fine. I
- 19:01Speaker 5: have no problem with that. Not that anyone would. But
- 19:05Speaker 5: just tell the truth.
- 19:06Speaker 2: That makes sense. I like that.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Jewel said, are there issues in your relationship? If there are,
- 19:12Speaker 1: sure bet it's being discussed. If there aren't any and
- 19:15Speaker 1: all is going well, she most likely isn't discussing anything major.
- 19:18Speaker 2: Involving you or you would already know.
- 19:21Speaker 3: You know what?
- 19:22Speaker 2: Actually, Brady.
- 19:25Speaker 1: Maybe you're just giving yourself too much credit. Not everything
- 19:28Speaker 1: is about you. Also, you might be the highlight of
- 19:31Speaker 1: the day.
- 19:32Speaker 5: What if part of the session is what went wrong,
- 19:34Speaker 5: how she could have reacted to something different, and then
- 19:37Speaker 5: you're the good part.
- 19:38Speaker 7: Right?
- 19:38Speaker 6: That could happen.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Or maybe she ain't even thinking about you at all,
- 19:43Speaker 1: and she's talking about her mom.
- 19:46Speaker 2: That's what I would be talking about.
- 19:47Speaker 1: If I were in therapy, I'm not talking about Mikey.
- 19:49Speaker 2: I'm talking about myself.
- 19:50Speaker 7: Mom.
- 19:50Speaker 6: Are you talking about me in therapy?
- 19:54Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 19:55Speaker 6: Don't answer that.
- 19:55Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 19:57Speaker 6: 701-280-1987 if you have any advice for Brady.
- 20:00Speaker 5: I will say this is one of those Am I
- 20:02Speaker 5: the Problems where at noon, 1, 2 in the afternoon,
- 20:06Speaker 5: going back and diving through the comments, going to be
- 20:08Speaker 5: very entertaining for me later on today.
- 20:13Speaker 6: And you know what? There's not a whole lot you
- 20:17Speaker 6: can do. Sometimes bad days, they just happen.
- 20:19Speaker 7: Yep. 701-280-1987.
- 20:19Speaker 5: One of the best ways to turn a bad day
- 20:21Speaker 5: around is by listening to a song. Whether it's a
- 20:28Speaker 5: song that makes you happy, whether it's a song that
- 20:30Speaker 5: makes you sad.
- 20:31Speaker 6: Or you just want to wallow in misery for three minutes.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Yeah, whatever it is that can get you through.
- 20:36Speaker 5: Whatever it is, 701-280-1987. Alex, what do you go with, man?
- 20:41Speaker 5: What's your bad day song?
- 20:43Speaker 4: I go old school, and I listen to Led Zeppelin
- 20:45Speaker 4: if I'm having a procedure done at the dentist. That
- 20:48Speaker 4: plus Novocaine has got me through having my wisdom teeth
- 20:51Speaker 4: taken out and a root canal.
- 20:53Speaker 6: Oh, I have something for you then, man. So he
- 20:56Speaker 6: hangs out on the box from time to time, it
- 20:59Speaker 6: sounds like. I do like that. Nothing wrong with a
- 21:01Speaker 6: little Led Zeppelin.
- 21:02Speaker 3: No, no.
- 21:03Speaker 6: Angie, do you have a bad day song?
- 21:06Speaker 2: Oh, LMFAO, Party Rock.
- 21:09Speaker 6: Oh, this one?
- 21:10Speaker 3: Let's go. Party Rock is in the house tonight.
- 21:15Speaker 6: That is a song that'll get you up and moving
- 21:17Speaker 6: for sure.
- 21:17Speaker 2: Yes, like whenever I have like.
- 21:19Speaker 1: Sometimes I'd be having a bad phone call with my
- 21:21Speaker 1: mom or like a rough time with the kids because
- 21:24Speaker 1: they're just not listening. And then I go take a
- 21:26Speaker 1: drive and I blast this in the car. And I'm like, yes,
- 21:30Speaker 1: Party Rock is in the house tonight.
- 21:32Speaker 5: And even if you are having a bad day, you know,
- 21:34Speaker 5: you fake it till you make it. Yeah.
- 21:35Speaker 6: Yeah, that's definitely a way you can go about it.
- 21:37Speaker 5: 701-280-1987.
- 21:37Speaker 6: Once again, songs, if you are having... A bad day
- 21:44Speaker 6: this morning. We're going to try to help turn this around.
- 21:47Speaker 5: We do have, and I think this is actually probably
- 21:49Speaker 5: a very popular one. Jenny here in Fargo said, whenever
- 21:52Speaker 5: I'm having a rough day, I will blast.
- 21:57Speaker 6: Oh, yeah. Very fitting. Sometimes you just got to shake
- 21:59Speaker 6: it off.
- 22:00Speaker 3: You do.
- 22:00Speaker 2: You got to shake it off. I like that.
- 22:02Speaker 5: She said she'll blast Shake It Off in the car
- 22:04Speaker 5: by Taylor Swift. Doesn't matter what's going on. I'm belting
- 22:07Speaker 5: it out by the chorus, and I feel like a
- 22:09Speaker 5: new person by the time I get to work.
- 22:12Speaker 2: I'm already bopping to this right now.
- 22:14Speaker 5: It's kind of hard to hear this song and not,
- 22:16Speaker 5: you know, kind of dance along a little bit here.
- 22:19Speaker 5: And this one I love from Mike out of West Fargo.
- 22:22Speaker 6: He hit us with one of these.
- 22:23Speaker 7: Oh!
- 22:32Speaker 2: I mean, when it's a bad day, you do feel
- 22:33Speaker 2: like you're living on a prayer.
- 22:35Speaker 5: It's kind of funny how the lyrics can sort of
- 22:38Speaker 5: direct our mood.
- 22:40Speaker 6: I have one that is a song you maybe remember.
- 22:44Speaker 5: I don't know if it got the love it deserved
- 22:46Speaker 5: when it was first released, but this is a beautiful
- 22:50Speaker 5: song by a Ben Rector. Like when I close my
- 22:54Speaker 5: eyes and don't even care if.
- 22:57Speaker 3: Anyone sees me.
- 22:59Speaker 2: This is such a Gabe song.
- 23:01Speaker 5: Another great song if you're on a walk with the dog,
- 23:03Speaker 5: the kid, and maybe it was just a tough day.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 23:06Speaker 6: This right there, just instant smile on the face.
- 23:09Speaker 2: I will say I'm in a great mood.
- 23:11Speaker 6: It's amazing how that works.
- 23:12Speaker 7: 701-280-1987.
- 23:13Speaker 6: Best song to play when you are having a bad day.
- 23:19Speaker 7: Big 98.7.
- 23:21Speaker 6: Today's variety, Big 98.7. Who's this?
- 23:23Speaker 3: This is Emily.
- 23:24Speaker 6: Emily, how you doing? Where are you calling from?
- 23:26Speaker 5: Fargo.
- 23:27Speaker 3: All right.
- 23:27Speaker 5: Emily, do you have a song that you just have
- 23:29Speaker 5: to hear if you're having a bad day?
- 23:30Speaker 8: Well, if I'm having a bad day, I need to
- 23:32Speaker 8: rage a little bit before I can feel better.
- 23:35Speaker 2: So it's Pink, You and Your Hand.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh.
- 23:39Speaker 2: That is so excellent.
- 23:41Speaker 6: It seems very fitting.
- 23:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:44Speaker 6: This is a big shout out to Emily this morning.
- 23:46Speaker 6: We'll give this one for you, Emily.
- 23:50Speaker 3: Big 98.7.
- 23:52Speaker 6: I need some.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Starting off the day with something good.
- 24:03Speaker 8: This is Gabe's Good News on Big 98.7.
- 24:08Speaker 5: And this is an exciting story. After 18 years under
- 24:11Speaker 5: the blue awnings on 13th Avenue, Natural Pet Center is
- 24:16Speaker 5: moving to a bigger, potentially better spot.
- 24:19Speaker 6: Owner Michelle Smith says.
- 24:21Speaker 5: The new location at the shops at Blue Water Creek
- 24:24Speaker 5: will be more centralized as the city grows south. And
- 24:29Speaker 5: it's getting not one, but two self-serve pet wash suites
- 24:34Speaker 5: after the North Fargo store's version was such a huge hit.
- 24:37Speaker 5: It's not a franchise story. It's an 18-year local success
- 24:41Speaker 5: story finding room to grow. Look for the doors to
- 24:44Speaker 5: open in their new spot by October.
- 24:47Speaker 6: Congratulations.
- 24:48Speaker 5: That's got to be an exciting, fun thing when you
- 24:50Speaker 5: have something And it grows and you can potentially get
- 24:54Speaker 5: into a different building if you would like to, obviously.
- 24:56Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:57Speaker 5: And you can just add things, get rid of things
- 24:59Speaker 5: you don't like. I think this is awesome.
- 25:01Speaker 2: Okay.
- 25:01Speaker 1: And how major that it's going to be two of
- 25:04Speaker 1: the wash station.
- 25:05Speaker 6: That's right.
- 25:06Speaker 5: And my dog needs about two by herself. So we'll
- 25:09Speaker 5: see you there.
- 25:10Speaker 6: All right.
- 25:10Speaker 5: Natural Pet Center. Never forget my favorite quote. The world
- 25:14Speaker 5: is full of nice people. If you can't find one,
- 25:16Speaker 5: you got to be one. And broken crayons, they still color.
