- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Welcome back to the Almost Famous podcast. It's been and
- 0:08Speaker 2: Ashley is here with me. Today we are covering another
- 0:11Speaker 2: episode of Netflix's show The Perfect Match. This time we
- 0:16Speaker 2: are joined by one of the contestants and also a
- 0:19Speaker 2: part of Bachelor Nation. Clayton Eckerd is with us today.
- 0:24Speaker 2: We aren't going to get into a ton of spoilers
- 0:26Speaker 2: because we're going in order. But the listeners, I'm telling
- 0:31Speaker 2: you you got to join on watch the episodes, follow
- 0:35Speaker 2: along with us. Have you've seen them already. We are
- 0:37Speaker 2: going to be releasing a breakdown of every episode of
- 0:40Speaker 2: Perfect Match. We have a very very good opportunity today though,
- 0:45Speaker 2: to have one of the focal points of The Perfect
- 0:50Speaker 2: Match this season. He was on just a few months
- 0:53Speaker 2: of ago to speak with us about some things going
- 0:56Speaker 2: on in his life. I think it was hinted at
- 0:59Speaker 2: in that interview that you were going to be joining
- 1:02Speaker 2: some type of project that we knew nothing about. Clayton,
- 1:07Speaker 2: Welcome to the podcast. And when you hinted that you
- 1:09Speaker 2: had a project coming out that we knew nothing about,
- 1:12Speaker 2: was this what we were talking about?
- 1:14Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I was being cryptic about So I
- 1:17Speaker 3: don't know. I just think it's fun to like drop
- 1:19Speaker 3: bread crops and see if anyone picks up on it.
- 1:23Speaker 4: But I also like say enough without saying too much.
- 1:25Speaker 4: So yeah, that's what it was.
- 1:27Speaker 2: The funny part, Clayton is that I will I can't
- 1:32Speaker 2: get into details, but I'll drop some breadcrumbs. We had
- 1:36Speaker 2: a knowledge of Rachel being on the show way long ago,
- 1:40Speaker 2: like I mean, I don't know when was this filmed.
- 1:43Speaker 4: Last September of twenty twenty four.
- 1:45Speaker 2: That's a big span.
- 1:47Speaker 5: I heard that there might be a baby about to
- 1:49Speaker 5: be born from the Perfect Match.
- 1:51Speaker 4: Yes, that that is how long it has been.
- 1:54Speaker 2: And so we knew Rachel was going to be a
- 1:56Speaker 2: I really had no clue you were going to be
- 1:58Speaker 2: on the show, Like I had never heard that you
- 2:01Speaker 2: were going to be on the show. I had no
- 2:02Speaker 2: idea that you were going to be on the show.
- 2:04Speaker 4: Yeah, I think what was kind of like a trick.
- 2:07Speaker 3: And I don't know if this was purposeful, but Blake
- 2:11Speaker 3: Moins was the name that everyone threw out for like
- 2:14Speaker 3: the other individual, which, come to find out, I think
- 2:17Speaker 3: he was being talked to actually, so that wasn't that
- 2:19Speaker 3: wasn't just like that wasn't just a misdirection. But I
- 2:22Speaker 3: think that like the second people heard that, they're like,
- 2:24Speaker 3: that's who it is, the other person coming.
- 2:26Speaker 4: So nobody, you know, took up anything beyond that.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Well, it's been so long that you've shaved, had a haircut,
- 2:35Speaker 2: no longer looked like the same guy. Yeah, I guess.
- 2:40Speaker 2: So we're in episode two right now, Clayton of the Breakdown,
- 2:43Speaker 2: We're going to keep you around to break down this episode.
- 2:45Speaker 2: I have a lot to talk to you about when
- 2:47Speaker 2: it comes to the Perfect Match and kind of the
- 2:50Speaker 2: living situations. When we planned to have you on, it
- 2:54Speaker 2: was to just co host an episode with us and
- 2:57Speaker 2: to break down the episode. Obviously, this week things have
- 3:01Speaker 2: kind of changed and we have to kind of ask
- 3:05Speaker 2: you about some of the controversies that have come out.
- 3:09Speaker 2: We don't want to give too many spoilers because we
- 3:12Speaker 2: aren't even at a point in this season where Rachel
- 3:15Speaker 2: is a part of the show.
- 3:16Speaker 4: Yet, but we do.
- 3:18Speaker 2: You know, I think any person that's falling along with
- 3:21Speaker 2: the Perfect Match or following along with Bachelor News knows
- 3:26Speaker 2: that something happened between the two of you that you
- 3:29Speaker 2: are now kind of responding to publicly. So we are
- 3:33Speaker 2: going to ask a little bit about that, and then
- 3:35Speaker 2: we do want to keep you around for the breakdown
- 3:38Speaker 2: of the episode. I guess to start here. You have
- 3:41Speaker 2: done a ton of work on yourself. You mention it
- 3:44Speaker 2: on The Perfect Match that you feel like you're a
- 3:46Speaker 2: changed human from the Bachelor. You obviously have kind of
- 3:52Speaker 2: you have this following from your dance videos. That seems
- 3:56Speaker 2: to be something that people love to talk about, especially
- 3:58Speaker 2: they're in The Perfect Match. You didn't have a great
- 4:01Speaker 2: experience as the Bachelor, you said, why would you go
- 4:05Speaker 2: on another reality show?
- 4:07Speaker 3: I felt that enough time had passed where I was
- 4:10Speaker 3: a different person, or at least, like I say, the
- 4:12Speaker 3: one hundred percent real version of me. I felt that
- 4:15Speaker 3: I was eighty percent who I wanted to be on
- 4:17Speaker 3: The Bachelor. Like, looking back now, there are moments where
- 4:20Speaker 3: I just felt like I couldn't fully be myself because
- 4:23Speaker 3: I was trying to appease others. I feel like I've
- 4:27Speaker 3: gotten rid of that now. I don't think I have
- 4:29Speaker 3: people pleasing tendencies anymore. And you know, lots happened in
- 4:33Speaker 3: three years, and so I felt it'd be really cool
- 4:36Speaker 3: opportunity to put myself back out there and say like, hey,
- 4:40Speaker 3: let's see how this version of me is perceived. Like
- 4:44Speaker 3: I do want in a way, I like to go
- 4:47Speaker 3: on reality television because it challenges me to step outside
- 4:50Speaker 3: of my comfort zone and it really puts you in
- 4:51Speaker 3: a position where it's like, you know, how do you
- 4:54Speaker 3: operate in an unknown environment? Because my day to day
- 4:57Speaker 3: is pretty much the same for the most part. I
- 4:59Speaker 3: mean I have like three to and jobs, but I
- 5:00Speaker 3: know how to do them all at this point. So this
- 5:04Speaker 3: going on realite television basically challenges me to see like, hey,
- 5:07Speaker 3: have you mastered these certain capabilities that you've worked on
- 5:11Speaker 3: so hard? So that's what it was. And then Perfect
- 5:14Speaker 3: Match also was like, hey, we just want you to dance.
- 5:15Speaker 3: You know, we sell your dance videos. That's how you
- 5:17Speaker 3: popped up on our radar. So I was like, cool,
- 5:20Speaker 3: I get to like go in the show, be goofy
- 5:22Speaker 3: and dance like that's my personality.
- 5:25Speaker 4: Awesome.
- 5:26Speaker 5: I don't know that that's why you popped up on
- 5:28Speaker 5: their radar. I'm sure they're looking for a past bachelor lead.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Too, but that's what they They just asked me. They
- 5:34Speaker 3: were like, hey, well you dance if you come on
- 5:35Speaker 3: the show. I was like, yeah, absolutely, Like that's that's
- 5:37Speaker 3: a given. So I did, you know all my entronts
- 5:40Speaker 3: and then you know, I mean like I was dancing
- 5:42Speaker 3: a couple of times so throughout the season. But yeah,
- 5:45Speaker 3: I mean yeah, that was it was at least like
- 5:47Speaker 3: they're like, hey, look, just we wanted to be yourself.
- 5:49Speaker 3: And I thought, I was like, oh cool, I get
- 5:50Speaker 3: to like showcase subside of me that you know that
- 5:53Speaker 3: I think is just fun and not to be taken
- 5:55Speaker 3: too seriously.
- 5:56Speaker 5: So now that there's nine episodes that have aired, Yeah,
- 6:00Speaker 5: how do you feel about your decision?
- 6:02Speaker 4: I'm fine with it.
- 6:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, look, I don't know what it is
- 6:07Speaker 3: like I personally. I know we can't get into spoilers,
- 6:11Speaker 3: but I'll just say like I stand by all my
- 6:13Speaker 3: decisions and I don't want to sit here and play
- 6:16Speaker 3: a blame game. But I do feel like I don't
- 6:19Speaker 3: know what I've done to editors, but I'm like, I
- 6:21Speaker 3: just feel like things gonna have been perceived differently. Nonetheless,
- 6:24Speaker 3: my experience is what I experienced, and I'm fine with it.
- 6:26Speaker 3: You know, I was very mad when the episodes came
- 6:30Speaker 3: out at first, you know, I went on like an
- 6:32Speaker 3: unfollow spree, and I was sitting out emails being like,
- 6:36Speaker 3: I'm not responding, I'm cancel all my interviews. But thankfully,
- 6:40Speaker 3: after like a day, I basically just got I told myself, look, Clayton,
- 6:43Speaker 3: like your real life version of you and your online
- 6:45Speaker 3: persona slash reality TV persona aren't the same person. I
- 6:50Speaker 3: was hoping that I could get them to be aligned,
- 6:53Speaker 3: but it didn't seem that way. So there's no place
- 6:56Speaker 3: for nuance on reality television from what I've experienced. So
- 7:00Speaker 3: it's black or white, and I'm like, look, I unfortunately
- 7:03Speaker 3: I was portrayed in a way that I felt I
- 7:05Speaker 3: didn't want it to be portrayed that way.
- 7:06Speaker 4: But like now I am, and so be it. You know,
- 7:09Speaker 4: it is what it is.
- 7:11Speaker 2: I get it. I understand reality television has a thousand
- 7:14Speaker 2: different ways of telling a story. It doesn't feel though
- 7:19Speaker 2: it does feel like there was pain that was caused.
- 7:22Speaker 2: So how do you deal with the pain that I
- 7:26Speaker 2: guess the television or that you I don't know, I
- 7:29Speaker 2: wasn't there caused others in the process. Because even if
- 7:34Speaker 2: you feel like your persona was not accurate, somebody was
- 7:38Speaker 2: hurt by decisions made.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I absolutely hurt somebody, and you know that
- 7:46Speaker 3: comes with ratifications. I felt that I took accountability by apologizing,
- 7:54Speaker 3: by stating, you know, hey, like this was a mistake
- 7:56Speaker 3: on mine. I'm sorry that I you know, I did
- 7:59Speaker 3: these things, and then I tried to make it right.
- 8:01Speaker 3: You know, again, I can't spoil because I know we're
- 8:03Speaker 3: not going ahead here, but you know, I did something
- 8:06Speaker 3: that I thought was my way of being able to
- 8:07Speaker 3: honor the whole situation and say, look like, I messed up,
- 8:11Speaker 3: so this is the least that I can do. Unfortunately, again,
- 8:13Speaker 3: I don't think it was portrayed in the way where
- 8:15Speaker 3: it could have been portrayed, and so I was like, look,
- 8:17Speaker 3: I don't understand why we're not showing some of the.
- 8:18Speaker 4: Stuff, but I'm not the editors.
- 8:20Speaker 3: So I ultimately just said, look like, I felt like
- 8:25Speaker 3: I took accountability, and I felt this person individual as
- 8:29Speaker 3: well took accountability. Again that in that conversation was not shown,
- 8:33Speaker 3: which I thought was critical, but it wasn't shown. So ultimately,
- 8:38Speaker 3: again I have to just basically answer to what was shown.
- 8:40Speaker 3: But I am a little bit different this time around,
- 8:42Speaker 3: you know, versus the Bachelor I was just taking full
- 8:44Speaker 3: you know, accountability for everything that was happened, even if
- 8:48Speaker 3: I felt like there was you know, two took two
- 8:50Speaker 3: to tango or multiple people. I'm just not in that
- 8:53Speaker 3: place anymore. I don't feel I should take accountability for
- 8:55Speaker 3: things where it's like this was a shared responsibility. And
- 8:58Speaker 3: I also think like, had you seen what was what
- 9:01Speaker 3: I believed happened, you know, I wouldn't be taking as
- 9:05Speaker 3: much heat. So I'm just in a place where I'm like, look,
- 9:07Speaker 3: I'm confident I stand on what I did, and I
- 9:09Speaker 3: don't feel I should take one hundred percent accountability for
- 9:12Speaker 3: the situations that occurred. I just feel like it's there's
- 9:15Speaker 3: there's multiple people involved. So I don't know, I feel
- 9:18Speaker 3: like I've taken the accountability I need to.
- 9:19Speaker 5: Did you know that Rachel was going to be on
- 9:21Speaker 5: the show? No?
- 9:23Speaker 3: No, I had no idea. Maybe that was naive for that.
- 9:25Speaker 3: I mean again, I you know, people are like, oh,
- 9:27Speaker 3: how would you not think that they'd bring her on?
- 9:29Speaker 3: I'm like, well, because I was going on a Netflix show,
- 9:31Speaker 3: I thought, you know, I didn't think that like I
- 9:33Speaker 3: came with like a package deal. I thought it was like, hey,
- 9:36Speaker 3: look like we were bringing you on, you were the
- 9:37Speaker 3: former Bachelor, Like, this will be fun, this is a crossover.
- 9:40Speaker 3: I figured obviously there could be people from other TV
- 9:42Speaker 3: shows outside of Netflix, but I didn't think it was
- 9:44Speaker 3: gonna be one of my maxes like that, that part
- 9:47Speaker 3: I did not expect. I really genuinely was shocked when
- 9:49Speaker 3: she showed up and obviously knew that.
- 9:52Speaker 4: I was like, Okay, now I understand more why I'm here.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Do you feel like a punching bag still? Like do
- 9:57Speaker 2: you feel after this that you just can't get out
- 10:00Speaker 2: of this? Like get hit from all sides.
- 10:03Speaker 4: Yeah, I'll be honest with you. I think a lot
- 10:05Speaker 4: of the you know, the critiques against me are unwarranted.
- 10:08Speaker 3: I really do. I mean, again, at this point, I'm
- 10:11Speaker 3: not willing to take the brun of things that I
- 10:13Speaker 3: don't feel like should be placed on my shoulders. I
- 10:16Speaker 3: think I did that as the Bachelor the first time around,
- 10:18Speaker 3: and I just let everyone just beat me down and
- 10:20Speaker 3: punch me and kicked me into a corner. And it's
- 10:22Speaker 3: like I still this day. I mean, I'm like I
- 10:24Speaker 3: did things wrong, but my gosh, like the rate response
- 10:27Speaker 3: I got was way overblown, Like I shouldn't be getting
- 10:29Speaker 3: death threats. I shouldn't be saying I'm never deserving of love.
- 10:32Speaker 3: I was like unfairly treated I think by many many
- 10:35Speaker 3: people online, and it's like, look, quit projecting your insecurities
- 10:38Speaker 3: onto me. I think there was a lot of just
- 10:40Speaker 3: negativity forced my way, but I took it. I was like, oh,
- 10:43Speaker 3: I'll be better, I'll do this. So I didn't know myself,
- 10:45Speaker 3: so I was saying I was apologizing for everything, and
- 10:49Speaker 3: I'm just now out of place now where again, like
- 10:51Speaker 3: I understand the way that I'm speaking right now. People
- 10:53Speaker 3: go like, oh, he's not taking any accountability, and it's
- 10:55Speaker 3: like I don't agree with that. I'm like, no, I'm
- 10:56Speaker 3: not taking full accountability like what you think I need
- 10:59Speaker 3: to take because I don't believe I should, you.
- 11:01Speaker 4: Know, And I just I feel confident where I'm at.
- 11:03Speaker 3: But like I I'm fine if I'm the punching bag again,
- 11:06Speaker 3: Like it is what it is.
- 11:06Speaker 4: I took.
- 11:07Speaker 3: I was mad for a day when I saw the
- 11:09Speaker 3: edit and I woke up the next morning and I
- 11:11Speaker 3: was like, Clayton, maybe you and dating TV, your reality.
- 11:14Speaker 4: Television just don't mix. It just is what it is, Like.
- 11:16Speaker 3: Maybe be done forever or maybe you know, don't don't
- 11:20Speaker 3: ever just do a different dating or not a dating show,
- 11:22Speaker 3: but do another like show if it comes around.
- 11:23Speaker 4: But I'm totally fine with.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Like this being the end of my experience as far
- 11:28Speaker 3: as reality television. I don't need to prove anything to anybody.
- 11:31Speaker 3: I was hoping I could put out, you know, the
- 11:33Speaker 3: more real version of me. I just didn't feel like
- 11:36Speaker 3: it I was able to do that based on what
- 11:37Speaker 3: was shown.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Has the has the feedback been as loud as the Bachelor, Like,
- 11:44Speaker 2: does it feel similar?
- 11:45Speaker 4: No?
- 11:46Speaker 3: No, I think Bachelor audience like not all of them.
- 11:48Speaker 3: There are some really great people that are fans of
- 11:50Speaker 3: the show, but I think there are some of like
- 11:53Speaker 3: the angriest fans, like some of them, like they just
- 11:56Speaker 3: have so much hate.
- 11:58Speaker 4: I will say, though again it's not It also is
- 12:00Speaker 4: not as.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Major because like I'm not the lead. I wasn't the lead,
- 12:02Speaker 3: so I don't feel it as much. I still get
- 12:05Speaker 3: the comments. I mean, I could go show you my
- 12:06Speaker 3: phone right now. I can pull it up and I
- 12:08Speaker 3: bet you the first four comments I'll I'll be negative.
- 12:11Speaker 3: It's like they're coming in, but I just don't care anymore.
- 12:13Speaker 4: I'm like it doesn't. It doesn't do anything to me.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Like unless people say certain things, like I just had
- 12:18Speaker 3: a girl that just, you know, basically told me to
- 12:20Speaker 3: take my life. So I commented on that there's a
- 12:23Speaker 3: few things that will trigger me, but no, it's just noise.
- 12:27Speaker 3: And I'm like, look, my life, personal life is really
- 12:30Speaker 3: great right now, succeeding at a high level and work,
- 12:33Speaker 3: and so I'm like, it's crazy how I'm getting ripped online,
- 12:36Speaker 3: but yet my life is better than ever in real life.
- 12:38Speaker 3: So I'm just like, look, it's a separation, and if
- 12:41Speaker 3: you all want me to be the villain, then I'll
- 12:42Speaker 3: be the villain in your eyes.
- 12:43Speaker 4: Like it is what it is.
- 12:45Speaker 5: I'm a little bit interested in how you didn't expect
- 12:48Speaker 5: Rachel to be there, not that it was like an
- 12:50Speaker 5: obvious choice, but I'm just saying that, like, you know,
- 12:52Speaker 5: it could have been an option. I want to know
- 12:54Speaker 5: whether or not you had ever thought about rekindling things
- 12:57Speaker 5: with Rachel in real life. I know I'm jumping ahead
- 13:00Speaker 5: a little bit, but like, just if you were to
- 13:02Speaker 5: sign up for the show knowing that Rachel would be
- 13:05Speaker 5: could be there, would you have ever been like, oh, yeah,
- 13:09Speaker 5: you know what, Like I would like to revisit that anyway.
- 13:12Speaker 4: Well, we did meet each other see each other in events, which.
- 13:15Speaker 2: It was our events.
- 13:16Speaker 5: I asked, because we watched you guys talk for a
- 13:19Speaker 5: long time, the two of you, it seemed, you know,
- 13:22Speaker 5: not like overtly flirty, but like quite friendly, quite intense.
- 13:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:26Speaker 5: I think you guys are rehashing the show for the
- 13:28Speaker 5: first time in front of without cameras present.
- 13:30Speaker 4: Yeah, and we were like.
- 13:32Speaker 5: Hummm, could there still be Was that the only time
- 13:36Speaker 5: you guys you had ever interacted since this show?
- 13:39Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 13:40Speaker 3: And that was yeah, that was like we had that
- 13:42Speaker 3: whole night and we were having great conversations, and I
- 13:45Speaker 3: just remember there was the end of the night where
- 13:47Speaker 3: we were like, you know, all going back to our
- 13:49Speaker 3: respective rooms and it was just like we both looked
- 13:51Speaker 3: at each other kind of like no, no, and that
- 13:56Speaker 3: was that, you know, it was kind of like this hesitation.
- 14:00Speaker 4: And that was that was the end of it.
- 14:03Speaker 3: So I I I think, like, for me again, this
- 14:06Speaker 3: is where I really do believe everything happens to reason.
- 14:08Speaker 4: I'll stand on that. It was the screen saver on
- 14:10Speaker 4: my on my phone.
- 14:12Speaker 3: I don't know if I if I said that you
- 14:13Speaker 3: had an episode two I forget which episode that was,
- 14:15Speaker 3: but I I really genuinely thought, like when she showed up,
- 14:20Speaker 3: I was like, wow, like this isn't by accident. It's
- 14:23Speaker 3: like bumping into somebody and you think it's fate. And
- 14:26Speaker 3: I genuinely did, like I guess I'm maybe naive it's people,
- 14:30Speaker 3: Like why would you think it's faate?
- 14:31Speaker 4: It's producers.
- 14:31Speaker 3: It's like, yeah, I get it's producers, but like they
- 14:34Speaker 3: could have they could have picked anybody.
- 14:36Speaker 2: I'm gonna put that as a screen saver of my phone.
- 14:38Speaker 3: It's yeah for real, Yeah, I mean again, it's like
- 14:43Speaker 3: I just genuinely was like on this spiritual journey and thought,
- 14:46Speaker 3: man like, it's like bumping into an X in a
- 14:50Speaker 3: different state. Like you you're see you meet, you bump
- 14:52Speaker 3: into them, You're you're traveling and you're like.
- 14:55Speaker 4: Why are you here? And it's like, yeah, why are
- 14:57Speaker 4: you here?
- 14:57Speaker 3: And you sit down and you start to think, like
- 14:59Speaker 3: did the universe bring us together for a greater purpose?
- 15:02Speaker 3: Like I guess we'll just like talk and see where
- 15:04Speaker 3: it goes.
- 15:05Speaker 4: And that's really what happened.
- 15:06Speaker 3: So I feel like it was just a reflection of like,
- 15:09Speaker 3: this is what would happen if two Axes bumped into
- 15:12Speaker 3: each other and felt like the moment was bigger than them,
- 15:15Speaker 3: this would be the resulting effect.
- 15:28Speaker 2: As we enter into breaking down this episode, because again
- 15:31Speaker 2: I would love if we have the opportunity to get
- 15:34Speaker 2: you back on to talk about some of the stuff
- 15:36Speaker 2: that we will see in following episodes. Obviously people can
- 15:39Speaker 2: watch it, it's streaming, it's out there, but we are
- 15:41Speaker 2: going to go in chronological order, so I don't want
- 15:43Speaker 2: to go too far into your relationships, what happens, what
- 15:48Speaker 2: doesn't happen, because at this point in the season, you're
- 15:50Speaker 2: still with Juliet and that has its own mix of
- 15:55Speaker 2: wildness and weirdness and questions I have for you. But
- 15:58Speaker 2: as we enter into breaking down the episode, I do
- 16:01Speaker 2: want to set the stage for where you're at personally
- 16:04Speaker 2: as we're on episode two. First off, my first question
- 16:08Speaker 2: for you is who is advising you right now? I mean, obviously,
- 16:11Speaker 2: even in episode two, you feel like you don't fit
- 16:15Speaker 2: to me. I mean that's my opinion, and that's not
- 16:17Speaker 2: a knock on you. I wouldn't fit there. This episode
- 16:21Speaker 2: gets into things and it feels like you're just uncomfortable
- 16:24Speaker 2: the whole time. The reason I say that is because
- 16:26Speaker 2: you do bring up the fact that you're on a
- 16:27Speaker 2: spiritual journey that you are. You know, they are making
- 16:31Speaker 2: comments other cast members, and it does come off the
- 16:33Speaker 2: way you're more serious about, Hey, I want to actually
- 16:36Speaker 2: have a relationship here, And it seems like to me
- 16:38Speaker 2: watching the Perfect Match, there is a potential for relationship
- 16:42Speaker 2: with some of these couples, but it's also like a
- 16:44Speaker 2: really easy place to hook up with somebody else attractive.
- 16:47Speaker 2: And I want to get your opinion on that. But
- 16:50Speaker 2: as you enter into this season, and as you now
- 16:54Speaker 2: are outside of the season getting the criticism, who's advising
- 16:57Speaker 2: you or who's speaking into your life that has helped
- 17:01Speaker 2: you change so drastically.
- 17:03Speaker 3: I mean it's been a you know, community effort from
- 17:06Speaker 3: like friends, family, therapists, a lot of just self work
- 17:12Speaker 3: as well podcasts. I was listening to Jay Shehtty's On
- 17:15Speaker 3: Purpose podcast I've listened to. I mean, I would break
- 17:18Speaker 3: down outside of mindfulness and I would look into like
- 17:20Speaker 3: the psychology of the mind, like the Anatomy of the Mind,
- 17:25Speaker 3: Andrew Huerman talking about like the science behind it.
- 17:27Speaker 4: I went on this like very deep dive.
- 17:29Speaker 3: I did plant medicines like I went as deep as
- 17:33Speaker 3: I could and just like tried to basically decondition myself
- 17:38Speaker 3: from all the things that I had grown up to
- 17:40Speaker 3: be told to believe that I felt like it's either
- 17:43Speaker 3: right or wrong, black or white, and I was like, no,
- 17:45Speaker 3: I don't I don't agree with this. I think there's
- 17:47Speaker 3: a lot of gray area in life, and so I'm
- 17:49Speaker 3: going to go, like, you know, figure out the nuances here,
- 17:52Speaker 3: and this is what I was taught growing up. But
- 17:54Speaker 3: I don't, you know, support this anymore. I reject this,
- 17:57Speaker 3: you know out narrative. I want to basically see like
- 17:58Speaker 3: what I feel.
- 17:59Speaker 4: Works for me. So it's also been a lot of
- 18:02Speaker 4: strangers too.
- 18:03Speaker 3: It's been a lot of people that I go to
- 18:05Speaker 3: a breath work session and it's like I know the
- 18:07Speaker 3: one person that invited me, but I don't know the
- 18:10Speaker 3: other ten people. And then afterwards we're all sharing our
- 18:12Speaker 3: experiences and it's just like you know, you you realize
- 18:14Speaker 3: there's there's a group for everything. So as I went
- 18:18Speaker 3: on the spiritual journey like I where I came from,
- 18:20Speaker 3: a lot of people don't embark on that, you know,
- 18:22Speaker 3: they don't go really in depth.
- 18:23Speaker 4: There's a lot of people that think very similarly. So
- 18:26Speaker 4: I found myself.
- 18:27Speaker 3: Being surrounded by a lot of different individuals that, you know,
- 18:30Speaker 3: don't look like me, don't act like me.
- 18:33Speaker 4: But I was comfortable with that.
- 18:34Speaker 3: I was like, look, I feel comfortable with with who
- 18:36Speaker 3: I am in this environment, and I can, you know,
- 18:38Speaker 3: gain a lot from the people around me that maybe
- 18:41Speaker 3: you know, have a completely different upbringing, but I can
- 18:43Speaker 3: try to figure out, you know, where the commonalities are
- 18:45Speaker 3: amongst us.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Sounds like you went on an ayahuasca journey.
- 18:49Speaker 3: Not aahuasca I mean, do you want to know what
- 18:50Speaker 3: Floyd plant medison I actually did. I don't care, I
- 18:52Speaker 3: can share it. I mean I've I've done shrooms, yeah,
- 18:55Speaker 3: like multiple times, and psilocybin, I guess is the correct
- 19:00Speaker 3: the correct term.
- 19:01Speaker 4: But it was it was huge.
- 19:02Speaker 3: I mean it like really broke me down, and you know,
- 19:05Speaker 3: had to ego death and you start to realize, like
- 19:08Speaker 3: a lot of these beliefs you have are rooted and
- 19:11Speaker 3: falsities and things that like You're like, look, once I
- 19:13Speaker 3: believe in myself, a lot of this stuff goes away.
- 19:16Speaker 3: So yeah, I've done that, and I'm not you know again,
- 19:20Speaker 3: I think there's a point in my life I was
- 19:21Speaker 3: like I would never admit that. Now I'm like, this
- 19:23Speaker 3: is what it is. I mean, it doesn't make it druggy.
- 19:25Speaker 3: I've done it a couple of times and it's like
- 19:27Speaker 3: it's helped me learn a lot, although breathwork was even
- 19:30Speaker 3: more powerful.
- 19:30Speaker 2: Surprisingly, Yeah, Breathwork's been a big This's been something I've
- 19:34Speaker 2: implemented through the last few years. Now, you speak of
- 19:38Speaker 2: a spiritual journey, you speak of it on the show,
- 19:41Speaker 2: and you speak of it during this episode. Has it
- 19:43Speaker 2: led you to any faith tradition or when you say
- 19:46Speaker 2: spiritual journey, use words like the universe bringing us together
- 19:50Speaker 2: that you know this might be fate, even through the
- 19:53Speaker 2: eyes and hands of a producer saying, Hey, how cool
- 19:55Speaker 2: is it we have Cleyton Rachel both willing to come
- 19:57Speaker 2: on this show. Let's do it.
- 19:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:59Speaker 2: Where has this kind of led you as you enter
- 20:03Speaker 2: into episode two of The Perfect Match?
- 20:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I feel like I've got a stronger
- 20:08Speaker 3: connection with with God. You know, I wouldn't say I
- 20:10Speaker 3: followed organized religion anymore, but I feel that I have
- 20:13Speaker 3: a very very strong connection with the higher power. You know,
- 20:16Speaker 3: it's the same higher power've always prayed to. I just
- 20:18Speaker 3: maybe viewed a bit differently, but you know, I took
- 20:21Speaker 3: my journal with me and journaled along the way. That
- 20:24Speaker 3: was you know, I still shout him out every time.
- 20:25Speaker 3: Brandon Jones on The Bacheorette is the one that taught
- 20:28Speaker 3: me to journal because he basically deconstructed my mind.
- 20:31Speaker 4: And I was like, oh, is that a diary.
- 20:33Speaker 3: He's like, you can call it whatever you want, man,
- 20:35Speaker 3: But like I had, you know this, I was like, oh, guys,
- 20:37Speaker 3: don't write in journals.
- 20:38Speaker 4: And you know, again, I had a long way to go.
- 20:39Speaker 3: So like he taught me that, so I started journaling,
- 20:43Speaker 3: but I basically just yeah. I mean, I was like, look,
- 20:45Speaker 3: I've always been so concerned about what's coming or what
- 20:48Speaker 3: I did in the past. I've never focused on being present.
- 20:51Speaker 3: So when I went on the show, I was like, look,
- 20:53Speaker 3: focus on just being in the moment. You don't know
- 20:56Speaker 3: what tomorrow is going to bring. Especially on reality television.
- 20:58Speaker 3: They're going to throw wrenches, They're gonna throw one eighties
- 21:00Speaker 3: curve balls, like you can try to All you can
- 21:03Speaker 3: do is basically handle each moment. So I was I
- 21:06Speaker 3: walked into the experience being like, just focus on the
- 21:09Speaker 3: moments in front of you and you know. I mean
- 21:12Speaker 3: you can try to foreshadow or forecast what's coming, but really, again,
- 21:16Speaker 3: like we all know this, We've all been on reality television.
- 21:18Speaker 3: It's like, can we really predict what's coming down the line?
- 21:20Speaker 3: The shows want to twist things out because they want
- 21:23Speaker 3: us to get you know, get knocked off our rockers,
- 21:25Speaker 3: So we respond in a way that you know, basically
- 21:28Speaker 3: causes drama.
- 21:29Speaker 5: Yeah, to get into the recap a little bit. So
- 21:33Speaker 5: Juliette tells you, because you're so deep, You're like so serious,
- 21:37Speaker 5: I just want to have fun. How did you feel
- 21:39Speaker 5: about that? That conversation would have made me feel uncomfortable.
- 21:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I watched it back and I thought
- 21:45Speaker 3: it was funny because I even said, you know, like
- 21:47Speaker 3: I asked to Lucy on episode one.
- 21:50Speaker 4: I was like I love to ask who are you?
- 21:51Speaker 5: And she was just like, yeah, I understand how that
- 21:56Speaker 5: question could be.
- 21:58Speaker 3: Yeah, it really a deep question to me that I
- 22:01Speaker 3: really like to ask people. But it was just kind
- 22:03Speaker 3: of like, yeah, I don't think this is the time
- 22:05Speaker 3: and place man, which was fine, Like I it was
- 22:08Speaker 3: like I kind of sound like this little Lulu guy
- 22:11Speaker 3: right now. That's like not my energy is not being
- 22:13Speaker 3: received in the you know, in the way that I'd
- 22:16Speaker 3: want it to. But that's fine. Like I'm not everyone's
- 22:18Speaker 3: cup of tea. So when Juliet said that, I was
- 22:20Speaker 3: just like, yeah, I mean I am. And if that's
- 22:23Speaker 3: that bothers you, this won't work.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Yeah. I wrote a lone and plain sight about asking
- 22:28Speaker 2: the question of who are you if everything else is
- 22:31Speaker 2: stripped away? I think it's a great question. I do
- 22:33Speaker 2: think reality television end of the Perfect Match might be
- 22:36Speaker 2: a tough place to start talking about it immediately? Am
- 22:41Speaker 2: I wrong Clayton in saying through episode one and episode
- 22:44Speaker 2: two you were the outsider, not in terms of friends
- 22:49Speaker 2: or like likability or how you get along with people
- 22:52Speaker 2: in the house. It just felt like you were kind
- 22:54Speaker 2: of the lost puppy, going from girl to girl being like, Hey,
- 22:57Speaker 2: I want to be here next week because I think
- 22:59Speaker 2: something night work, but I haven't found like a real
- 23:03Speaker 2: match yet. Juliett definitely doesn't sound like I feel like
- 23:07Speaker 2: a real match to you. She even says that she's
- 23:09Speaker 2: not sure about it. She's excited for this date with Carrington,
- 23:12Speaker 2: and I have all sorts of thoughts on Carrington on
- 23:14Speaker 2: how a guy can admit that he's a self aware
- 23:17Speaker 2: douchebag and he loves love bombing girls to get them
- 23:20Speaker 2: to like him, and that somehow he gets away with it.
- 23:23Speaker 2: I think that's and like how you are the one
- 23:25Speaker 2: getting the heat from this season. Maybe because you're just
- 23:28Speaker 2: a bigger name, but goodness gracious, I was like, how
- 23:32Speaker 2: is this guy not the one that like never shows
- 23:34Speaker 2: up on reality television ever? Again, either way, it feels
- 23:38Speaker 2: like you're just misplaced there, man, it does. From episode
- 23:41Speaker 2: one to episode two. It just doesn't feel like you fit.
- 23:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I've seen you some chatter about that, and I
- 23:48Speaker 3: never felt like I was on the outside. I mean,
- 23:52Speaker 3: and you mentioned Neil, you're asking more or not from
- 23:53Speaker 3: a friends standpoint. I mean, everyone on the show welcomes
- 23:56Speaker 3: me right in.
- 23:57Speaker 4: You know. I took my shot early.
- 23:59Speaker 3: I said, look, Clay, like, I'm gonna be bold and
- 24:00Speaker 3: I'm gonna come out the gates and I'm gonna say,
- 24:02Speaker 3: like who I'm interested in?
- 24:03Speaker 4: So when Nick Lache asked you are you interested in?
- 24:05Speaker 4: I was like, Lucy, and I thought.
- 24:07Speaker 3: At that point, I was like, okay, look I'm locking
- 24:09Speaker 3: and I'm throwing all my chips in one basket. And
- 24:11Speaker 3: that backfired so it's like, which is fine. Like again,
- 24:15Speaker 3: like Daniel is a good looking dude. I kind of
- 24:17Speaker 3: feel like I'm the costco version of Daniel. I was like,
- 24:19Speaker 3: he had the you know, had the same hair style
- 24:21Speaker 3: and he's a model, and I was.
- 24:22Speaker 5: Like, definitely, I was like Clayton for a sec I
- 24:25Speaker 5: had a like double.
- 24:26Speaker 3: Take yeah, yeah, and he's a good looking man. So
- 24:28Speaker 3: I was like, it doesn't it is what it is,
- 24:30Speaker 3: you know. I wasn't upset by it, But after I
- 24:33Speaker 3: threw all my ages in one basket, I was like, well, shoot,
- 24:35Speaker 3: now all the girls are just like, well, you were
- 24:37Speaker 3: so interested in Lucy, why would I match with you?
- 24:40Speaker 3: And you know, and then Juliet and I basically became
- 24:42Speaker 3: the default match where it's like nobody at the end
- 24:45Speaker 3: of the night, it was just the two of us,
- 24:46Speaker 3: and I was We're like, hey, I guess we got
- 24:48Speaker 3: to match.
- 24:50Speaker 5: This is the nicest back maybe backhanded compliment. The girls
- 24:53Speaker 5: are chatting its Madison and Juliet and she says Clayton's
- 24:59Speaker 5: too serious because he came from the Bachelor, and I'm like, yes,
- 25:03Speaker 5: we have depth, guys, We were wholesome, we have valleys,
- 25:09Speaker 5: we appreciate love.
- 25:10Speaker 3: I mean, I know, I didn't. I didn't feel that way.
- 25:13Speaker 3: I thought like, hey, we're all reality TV goers. But
- 25:15Speaker 3: there was like conversations happening where they're like, he's from
- 25:19Speaker 3: the Bachelor, He's so serious, and I'm like, is this
- 25:21Speaker 3: how we're portrayed? Like we're portrayed like we're just too.
- 25:24Speaker 4: Rigid and we're not loose. I'm like, guys, I'm here.
- 25:27Speaker 4: I'm here with all of you. All. I kind of
- 25:29Speaker 4: thought I let loose out the gate. You know, I'm
- 25:31Speaker 4: out here using.
- 25:32Speaker 3: An ice cube, running up you know, Lucy's leg, and
- 25:34Speaker 3: then I'm getting a belly shot taken out from me.
- 25:38Speaker 3: I was like, I thought I was right there. I'm like,
- 25:39Speaker 3: I'm in this guys, you know, like I'm right here
- 25:42Speaker 3: with all of you. I'm not. I'm not, you know,
- 25:43Speaker 3: I'm letting looseen have a good time. So I I yes,
- 25:45Speaker 3: I mean, I'm not as wild as some of these guys,
- 25:47Speaker 3: but that's just me in general, that's my personality.
- 25:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I watched that opening and I was like, this
- 25:53Speaker 2: is the moment where I realized why I didn't pursue
- 25:56Speaker 2: any other reality television when I was single, Like I
- 25:58Speaker 2: would be so so cautious.
- 26:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I just think for me, this was like this
- 26:03Speaker 3: show I knew what I was getting into. I watched
- 26:04Speaker 3: season two and I was like, I know, this is
- 26:08Speaker 3: like a little bit rong chier, but I'm like, I
- 26:11Speaker 3: also am comfortable and I can answer this. And worst
- 26:14Speaker 3: case scenario, I tell my mom and grandma not to
- 26:16Speaker 3: watch the show.
- 26:17Speaker 4: That's it.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a lot of things I would not want
- 26:20Speaker 2: anybody watching. Now what happens? Give us a sneak peek.
- 26:24Speaker 2: You and Juliet obviously kind of just like partner up
- 26:28Speaker 2: last two standing. It's not like you don't find her
- 26:31Speaker 2: attractive or she doesn't find you attractive. You know, there
- 26:34Speaker 2: was a little bit of a spark there. It made
- 26:36Speaker 2: sense that you two would partner up. One of the
- 26:39Speaker 2: wildest parts of the show to me is that you
- 26:42Speaker 2: meet somebody eight hours before and then that night when
- 26:45Speaker 2: you match. On the first night, especially, you're sleeping in
- 26:48Speaker 2: the same bed as them. Is that like? What is
- 26:50Speaker 2: that like?
- 26:51Speaker 1: Like?
- 26:51Speaker 2: How do you how does that work?
- 26:54Speaker 3: I mean, I'm personally just comfortable. I'm like, you could
- 26:57Speaker 3: probably put me in a room with anybody and I'll
- 26:59Speaker 3: talk to him for two hours and be like, all right,
- 27:01Speaker 3: we can sleep. Yeah, we're good, Like, what are you
- 27:03Speaker 3: gonna do? Take me out in the middle of the night.
- 27:05Speaker 3: Like I didn't person have an issue with it. I
- 27:08Speaker 3: don't know how Juliette felt, but I think also, like,
- 27:10Speaker 3: you know, we are all having some drinks. So I
- 27:13Speaker 3: mean to say that anybody was sober night one, that
- 27:16Speaker 3: was probably just Freddie Sorry he wasn't there yet. I
- 27:20Speaker 3: don't know if there was a single sober soul night
- 27:22Speaker 3: one in that house. So it makes things a little
- 27:24Speaker 3: bit simpler when you got a little bit of like
- 27:26Speaker 3: a courage.
- 27:27Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just it's like a wild thought to me
- 27:31Speaker 2: that all of a sudden you're in this room, closed doors,
- 27:34Speaker 2: you just met each other. But everybody's excited. So maybe
- 27:36Speaker 2: that helps to everybody knows what they're getting into. As
- 27:40Speaker 2: we get in this episode, we see right away you
- 27:42Speaker 2: know that we understand that you and Juliette maybe aren't
- 27:46Speaker 2: the forever perfect match, and so she set up on
- 27:49Speaker 2: a date with this Carrington guy. As I said Carrington,
- 27:53Speaker 2: I'm not putting any words in his mouth. His exact
- 27:56Speaker 2: quote is, I am a self aware douchebag. I love bomb.
- 28:03Speaker 2: He says, out of these girls I watch this, it
- 28:07Speaker 2: was out of any moment so far in episode one
- 28:10Speaker 2: and two, this was the moment I was like, how
- 28:12Speaker 2: is this okay? Really? Was my question, like, how is
- 28:15Speaker 2: this fine? This isn't even funny.
- 28:16Speaker 5: It's because he admits it. Like if he admits it,
- 28:19Speaker 5: people aren't gonna hate on it.
- 28:21Speaker 3: Like, yeah, like when you're self aware, you're self aware,
- 28:24Speaker 3: people go oh, at least you know it, so then
- 28:25Speaker 3: they don't attack you.
- 28:26Speaker 4: For it's when you deny it that people go after you.
- 28:29Speaker 3: It's like, yeah, that's and so he's just like, yeah, look,
- 28:32Speaker 3: I probably am this way, but you know, I mean
- 28:34Speaker 3: I have other aspects of me as well that are
- 28:36Speaker 3: fun and that you all can get to know.
- 28:37Speaker 4: I just happen to be a self aware douchebag.
- 28:39Speaker 2: But he's I mean, ultimately on this date with Juliet
- 28:42Speaker 2: and you've watched it back now, he doesn't act like
- 28:45Speaker 2: a douchebag on dates, so he and he doesn't tell
- 28:48Speaker 2: her that, right, So he's telling that to the camera
- 28:50Speaker 2: to the viewers, but the person he's on the date
- 28:52Speaker 2: with is not aware that he realizes he's a jerk
- 28:56Speaker 2: and that he is going to stare into her eyes
- 28:58Speaker 2: and do this I don't know cockneck thing, because he
- 29:00Speaker 2: thinks he's a beautiful man and she's going to fall
- 29:03Speaker 2: in love with him, and he's going to tell her
- 29:04Speaker 2: all the sweet things and then ultimately, if somebody better
- 29:06Speaker 2: comes along, he'll break her heart. You watch this date,
- 29:10Speaker 2: what was your take after watching it? Realizing that then
- 29:14Speaker 2: and this is in the episode, she comes back to
- 29:16Speaker 2: you at the end of the you know, at the
- 29:18Speaker 2: end of this Yeah, I.
- 29:19Speaker 3: Was shocked because I mean, essentially her and I had
- 29:22Speaker 3: talked about how we were the default match, and everyone
- 29:26Speaker 3: now now believes that, like we don't even want to
- 29:28Speaker 3: be matched with one another. But this is, you know,
- 29:30Speaker 3: all about the perfect match, and you know, we we
- 29:33Speaker 3: know that there's there's gonna be competitions coming up in
- 29:36Speaker 3: boardrooms that people are going to try to vote us
- 29:38Speaker 3: out or put us on dates, and so it's like, hey,
- 29:40Speaker 3: look like we know that we're going to be a target.
- 29:42Speaker 3: Let's just get to know one another and like let's
- 29:45Speaker 3: give this a shot. Like, look, okay, here we are.
- 29:47Speaker 3: We didn't we weren't with each other's first choice. Our
- 29:50Speaker 3: matches actually end up being the ones that chose each
- 29:52Speaker 3: other and we you know, we're second pick. But yeah,
- 29:55Speaker 3: once once we matched, it was like Juliette was fun.
- 29:59Speaker 4: She is wild.
- 30:01Speaker 3: She has a wild side tour, which I find I
- 30:03Speaker 3: chase after more so these days now, after like reality television.
- 30:05Speaker 3: Once I get off TV and I'm back in the
- 30:07Speaker 3: real world, I'm like, gosh, I need some chaos somewhere,
- 30:09Speaker 3: you know.
- 30:10Speaker 4: So sometimes I.
- 30:11Speaker 2: On with my partner, and sometimes I find I.
- 30:14Speaker 3: Go after women that are a little chaotic, and it's like,
- 30:16Speaker 3: I cause, I'm just like, look, they're probably not the
- 30:18Speaker 3: best for me mental health wise, but like they're fun.
- 30:20Speaker 3: You know, like every time I go out, I don't
- 30:21Speaker 3: know what kind of version of them I'm getting. And so,
- 30:24Speaker 3: you know, like Juliette had that fun I'm like, I'm
- 30:26Speaker 3: on a reality TV show, like this is a fun environment,
- 30:29Speaker 3: Like she's going to keep things entertaining. I was shocked
- 30:31Speaker 3: when she matched with me. I was shocked. I really
- 30:34Speaker 3: thought I was getting booted out that that night. So
- 30:37Speaker 3: when she was just like I feel like, you know,
- 30:39Speaker 3: we just are mesh better, I was like, Okay, I
- 30:42Speaker 3: I couldn't. But that also meant a lot to me
- 30:44Speaker 3: in that moment. I was like, wow, she chose me
- 30:46Speaker 3: because I thought based on the way that her and
- 30:48Speaker 3: I both spoke but talked. She was like, look, second,
- 30:50Speaker 3: like one of us ends up finding a better match route,
- 30:52Speaker 3: and I'll basically tell you. I'll give you like as
- 30:54Speaker 3: much of the heads up as I can.
- 30:56Speaker 4: So that's what we said.
- 30:58Speaker 3: When somebody comes in the house, will base in, We're like,
- 31:00Speaker 3: we know we're going to match with them. Where we
- 31:01Speaker 3: go and tell the other one like were like, hey,
- 31:03Speaker 3: look I'm gonna match with them, just so you know.
- 31:06Speaker 3: So now you have a couple hours to you know,
- 31:09Speaker 3: basically find your match in this house. And she didn't
- 31:12Speaker 3: really say that to me that night, so I was like,
- 31:14Speaker 3: is she really gonna do this to me? She's gonna
- 31:15Speaker 3: do me dirty, She's gonna match last second with Carrington
- 31:17Speaker 3: and be like sorry Clayton.
- 31:19Speaker 4: But she she didn't. She she went with me.
- 31:22Speaker 3: She just took down to the last second to do so.
- 31:24Speaker 3: But that was surprising. I still don't really know why.
- 31:26Speaker 3: I mean, she surprised me.
- 31:28Speaker 2: I know why.
- 31:28Speaker 4: It's not.
- 31:30Speaker 3: Maybe yeah, maybe, I mean again, now I think about it,
- 31:33Speaker 3: I was like, they must have been like, hey, look
- 31:35Speaker 3: we need.
- 31:35Speaker 4: To just stay We need him to stay, so we
- 31:37Speaker 4: need them.
- 31:38Speaker 2: Yeah, probably Clayton's going home one episode before we thought
- 31:41Speaker 2: he would.
- 31:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I will say this though, there was hardly any
- 31:45Speaker 3: producer involvement, hardly ever at all. Like I will say
- 31:49Speaker 3: this straight up from Bachelor to Netflix. We all know
- 31:52Speaker 3: Bachelor producers love to stick their fingers and stuff. There
- 31:56Speaker 3: wasn't a single time on the show where the where
- 31:58Speaker 3: the producers interjected. I had like not once on that
- 32:02Speaker 3: I can remember on that on Netflix. So if maybe
- 32:05Speaker 3: they went to her, but I never had anybody talk
- 32:08Speaker 3: to me the entire time.
- 32:10Speaker 4: That I was there.
- 32:11Speaker 3: Interesting, So I had no issue with the producers. I
- 32:13Speaker 3: in fact don't even have any issues with the bat
- 32:15Speaker 3: Bachelor producers. It's the editing team that I'm like, I
- 32:17Speaker 3: need to meet you all because you guys keep seeing
- 32:19Speaker 3: me as a piece of meats. You've seen me as
- 32:20Speaker 3: a number, so you're like, whatever, we'll just wreck this guy.
- 32:23Speaker 3: I'm like, I need you to. I need to sit
- 32:24Speaker 3: on a plane with you all, Like I sat with
- 32:26Speaker 3: these producers and you can see I'm human, and then
- 32:28Speaker 3: you'll be like, oh, he doesn't he's not the kind
- 32:30Speaker 3: of guy that he looks like because I feel like
- 32:32Speaker 3: they're just like it's really easy to just like portray
- 32:35Speaker 3: me as something. I'm like, I have nuance, and I'm
- 32:37Speaker 3: like I like the producers all seasons. I like the
- 32:39Speaker 3: Bachelor producers. That's why it was so hard for me.
- 32:41Speaker 3: Then I had to really realize, I'm like, it's editors.
- 32:44Speaker 2: Well there was.
- 32:45Speaker 5: If the producers tell the editors how to edit, don't
- 32:47Speaker 5: they I don't. I mean maybe my guess is that
- 32:50Speaker 5: like it's the show runner and like the higher ups
- 32:53Speaker 5: that say, like, this is how we want this person
- 32:55Speaker 5: to look.
- 32:55Speaker 4: Yeah, and again the editors.
- 32:56Speaker 3: Again, I can't sit here and like go after them
- 32:58Speaker 3: because it's like there's somebody of them that's saying, like
- 33:01Speaker 3: this is the way that we want him to be
- 33:03Speaker 3: portrayed exactly. So it's I'm not trying to call that
- 33:05Speaker 3: it's just the editors.
- 33:06Speaker 2: It's easy.
- 33:07Speaker 3: It's like it's like it's like when people go after us,
- 33:09Speaker 3: you know, on the show and like f him, and
- 33:10Speaker 3: it's like you're really mad at the producers, but you're
- 33:12Speaker 3: attacking me because I'm the you know, the figurehead of
- 33:14Speaker 3: the season.
- 33:14Speaker 4: So like it's it's misplaced for me to go after these.
- 33:17Speaker 3: Editors, like, I'm sure most of them are great, but somebody,
- 33:20Speaker 3: you know, it's like that I'm not interacting with, is
- 33:22Speaker 3: making these decisions and it's just, you know, it's frustrating.
- 33:25Speaker 3: You're like, one person can make or break you. But
- 33:29Speaker 3: at whatever, it is, what it is. But yeah, there
- 33:30Speaker 3: wasn't a lot of producer involvement on Netflix, at least
- 33:33Speaker 3: not to my face. That nobody came up to me
- 33:35Speaker 3: and talked to me while I was there.
- 33:36Speaker 2: We've heard that, we've heard that. Now there is an
- 33:39Speaker 2: interesting twist in this episode for me. You mentioned Freddie
- 33:43Speaker 2: would be the one that would have been sober on
- 33:45Speaker 2: night one. Freddie also comes off to me. He's one
- 33:48Speaker 2: of those that enters into the house this week. He
- 33:50Speaker 2: set up on a date with Madison. Madison at this point,
- 33:55Speaker 2: you know is has chosen Freddy as her date. He
- 34:00Speaker 2: he comes off on television. You correct us here, we're
- 34:03Speaker 2: trying to break down the episode and get to know
- 34:05Speaker 2: these people a little better. As a very calm collected person,
- 34:09Speaker 2: Madison is a very fun human. She does have a
- 34:14Speaker 2: wild side to her. It doesn't feel like the two
- 34:17Speaker 2: of them should match. It seems like the two of
- 34:20Speaker 2: them are like fire and ice, like very different people,
- 34:26Speaker 2: but somehow it works and it seems to be working
- 34:31Speaker 2: from your take. As he enters into the house, did
- 34:35Speaker 2: you realize that Cody was going to be leaving? And
- 34:39Speaker 2: also did you see the Freddie Madison thing sparking?
- 34:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, look, Freddie walks in and he has
- 34:46Speaker 3: an energy to him.
- 34:47Speaker 4: He is as advertised.
- 34:48Speaker 3: I mean, he might be one of the most genuine
- 34:51Speaker 3: individuals that I've met. So he walks in the house,
- 34:54Speaker 3: big old beaming smile, and it's just like instantly there's
- 34:59Speaker 3: an interest right, like there's you can see. It's like
- 35:03Speaker 3: you can tell when someone's like whoa Like, who's that?
- 35:06Speaker 3: And that's what Madison basically like the look that she
- 35:08Speaker 3: got in her face, and you know there is so
- 35:12Speaker 3: it wasn't wa wait, I'm mixing this up. Hold on,
- 35:15Speaker 3: she ended up going on a date with him. Yeah, so,
- 35:17Speaker 3: like I you, we kind of knew it was coming
- 35:19Speaker 3: because Cody like in her well, they won the first challenge.
- 35:23Speaker 3: It's like once she decided to put herself on a date,
- 35:26Speaker 3: you knew it was it was over.
- 35:28Speaker 4: It was over.
- 35:28Speaker 2: I mean when she called him out for having bad
- 35:30Speaker 2: breath on National television. Did you ever feel that No, I.
- 35:35Speaker 3: No, I talked to Cody. I didn't ever smell his breath.
- 35:37Speaker 3: I guess I wasn't. I wasn't kissing him either, but
- 35:40Speaker 3: but I mean when I was talking to him, I mean,
- 35:42Speaker 3: there was never some foul smell. I thought that was
- 35:44Speaker 3: wrong of her to go after him for that, because
- 35:46Speaker 3: it's like, great, now you're just gonna peg this guy
- 35:47Speaker 3: as the stinky breath dude, which is like, it's just
- 35:50Speaker 3: frustrating cause now I'm like, who knows in his personal
- 35:52Speaker 3: life he's probably dealing with this, right, some girls, like
- 35:54Speaker 3: I saw this and it's like.
- 35:55Speaker 4: Nobody likes to have bad breath.
- 35:56Speaker 3: But yeah, the second that, like he came back, can
- 36:00Speaker 3: found out that second like he came back and found
- 36:03Speaker 3: out that uh.
- 36:05Speaker 4: Or he told us that she put her on herself
- 36:07Speaker 4: on a date, we knew it was over.
- 36:09Speaker 2: It was over.
- 36:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I was like, that's that's crazy, and we're like
- 36:13Speaker 3: that he's done for sure.
- 36:14Speaker 2: And then I get it. I mean, Freddy is a stud.
- 36:16Speaker 2: He seems like a nice guy on television. You said
- 36:18Speaker 2: he's a nice guy in real life, Like, I get
- 36:21Speaker 2: why she goes, hey, this is my guy, it has nothing.
- 36:24Speaker 2: It's not even a knock on Cody. It's just this
- 36:26Speaker 2: guy's a little better. No, yeah, Clayton, we only have
- 36:39Speaker 2: five minutes left with you and and so I'm going
- 36:43Speaker 2: to do something. Really, because we've gone through most of
- 36:46Speaker 2: it already, the matches stay fairly the same except for
- 36:51Speaker 2: Cody and Carrington leaving the house. So from week or
- 36:54Speaker 2: from episode one to episode two, the matches are pretty
- 36:57Speaker 2: much the same. There's no big twists and turns. Really,
- 37:00Speaker 2: Odie goes home, Carrington goes home, and Freddie ends up
- 37:04Speaker 2: staying in the house and you are obviously still there.
- 37:07Speaker 2: The real big thing I want to talk to you
- 37:09Speaker 2: about is is my You know, this is my first
- 37:12Speaker 2: Netflix show I've ever watched, Clayton, Colton, I knew I
- 37:16Speaker 2: was going to do that at some point. It's not
- 37:21Speaker 2: the first time it's happened, Clayton, the first time I've
- 37:25Speaker 2: ever watched Netflix reality television show. I'm in it like,
- 37:30Speaker 2: I'm enjoying it. I'm liking it. You guys have this
- 37:33Speaker 2: like get to know you competition at the end of
- 37:39Speaker 2: this episode where like everybody, it seems like everybody answered
- 37:45Speaker 2: questions beforehand in secret and then the partners had to guess,
- 37:50Speaker 2: you know, who was who. It's where I really realized
- 37:54Speaker 2: what this show was. It was my eye opening moment
- 37:57Speaker 2: to go, holy cow, this has no bad on Netflix.
- 38:01Speaker 4: It was hilarious.
- 38:02Speaker 3: People's answers and my answers didn't match up with the
- 38:05Speaker 3: other answers. But that's because I was doing a strategy
- 38:07Speaker 3: that did not get picked up by Juliet And I
- 38:10Speaker 3: was like, come on, I was the whole point was
- 38:12Speaker 3: you had to basically guess what your partner's answer was.
- 38:17Speaker 3: And so I wasn't writing these answers based on how
- 38:19Speaker 3: I would answer them necessarily. It was more like, Juliette,
- 38:24Speaker 3: you have said that I am like a safe kind
- 38:27Speaker 3: of boring individual, so I'm going to give safe.
- 38:30Speaker 4: Boring answers.
- 38:32Speaker 2: This makes sense.
- 38:33Speaker 3: So when I called my you know, my my nether region,
- 38:36Speaker 3: when I went down below safe and secure, it's like Juliette,
- 38:40Speaker 3: who else has said?
- 38:41Speaker 4: Who else is going to put that?
- 38:42Speaker 3: It's me like answer it, and she she like doesn't
- 38:45Speaker 3: pick any of my answers, and she's like, well I
- 38:47Speaker 3: didn't like that answer.
- 38:48Speaker 4: I'm like, that's not the point.
- 38:49Speaker 3: The point is you have to choose my answers, and
- 38:51Speaker 3: I was like, I said, like in the bedroom, I
- 38:53Speaker 3: was a silver backed guerrilla.
- 38:55Speaker 4: I'm like, I don't know. I feel like and I
- 38:56Speaker 4: eat steak.
- 38:57Speaker 3: And eggs and I'm like, oh my gosh, I feel
- 38:58Speaker 3: like I'm giving it away. I'm giving the bland answers
- 39:02Speaker 3: like and again I was like, she just was like,
- 39:05Speaker 3: I didn't like those answers. I was choosing the ones
- 39:07Speaker 3: I liked the most. I'm like, that's not the point.
- 39:08Speaker 2: Of the game, get it's a compatibility test.
- 39:12Speaker 5: So I guess like it was that the point of
- 39:15Speaker 5: the game or the point of the game is to
- 39:16Speaker 5: win it.
- 39:17Speaker 4: Well, that's that's where I think that.
- 39:19Speaker 3: There was a half of the camp there was like
- 39:22Speaker 3: it's all about compatibility.
- 39:23Speaker 4: The other half is like, guys, we're trying to win.
- 39:26Speaker 3: So I was, you know, Juliette was like, hey, I
- 39:30Speaker 3: am choosing the answers that I would be most compatible with.
- 39:33Speaker 3: I was like, well then we're like then we're gonna lose.
- 39:35Speaker 5: This is a demonstration that you guys are incompatible.
- 39:38Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, And that's what we said afterwards, like we
- 39:40Speaker 3: got the least amount of answers, right, And she was like,
- 39:44Speaker 3: I guess this.
- 39:44Speaker 4: Just proves it.
- 39:45Speaker 3: I was like, yeah, because I was going to win,
- 39:47Speaker 3: you were going off compatibility.
- 39:49Speaker 4: We weren't even on the same page.
- 39:50Speaker 3: I guess we should have talked this through, but I
- 39:53Speaker 3: thought she was gonna go for the win too. I
- 39:55Speaker 3: was like, she's a gamer and she went for compatibility,
- 39:58Speaker 3: so we're just completely off on that. And and I
- 40:00Speaker 3: just thought my answers, I was like, yeah, I don't know.
- 40:03Speaker 3: I thought it was blatantly obvious. But she kept not
- 40:05Speaker 3: picking him, and I was like, oh my gosh. And
- 40:07Speaker 3: then everyone's like, oh, he's such boring answers. I was like,
- 40:09Speaker 3: that was for a purpose. Although I will say I
- 40:11Speaker 3: wouldn't have answered them as crazy as other people though
- 40:13Speaker 3: in general, like the people on that show, some of
- 40:15Speaker 3: these people were they're wild. They're much wilder than I am.
- 40:19Speaker 3: So it was pretty funny the answer they gave.
- 40:21Speaker 2: Yeah, there's some people who had no boundaries.
- 40:24Speaker 4: Oh the vibrating the vibrating butt plug.
- 40:27Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I mean Lucy all of a sudden, like
- 40:31Speaker 2: Lucy's like you said, you walk in. She's this cute girl.
- 40:35Speaker 2: She you know, has it together. She's definitely kind of
- 40:37Speaker 2: like the star of the first two episodes and then
- 40:41Speaker 2: all of a sudden she reveals this. It doesn't change
- 40:44Speaker 2: her star factor, she can do what she wants, but
- 40:47Speaker 2: it does make you look at her differently. I will
- 40:50Speaker 2: say that I cannot look at her on this show
- 40:52Speaker 2: any more the same way, and a lot of these
- 40:55Speaker 2: people from their answers, I feel like, for me, I
- 41:00Speaker 2: said I know way too much about you. Yeah, for
- 41:04Speaker 2: two episodes into the show.
- 41:06Speaker 3: Yeah, well I look, I think really people should watch
- 41:08Speaker 3: this show and not take it too seriously. It's a
- 41:11Speaker 3: fun show. It doesn't have the formality that the Bachelor does.
- 41:15Speaker 3: This is meant to be turned on to like be
- 41:17Speaker 3: a little bit ridiculous, to get people to be like,
- 41:20Speaker 3: you know, oh my gosh, I can't believe they said that.
- 41:22Speaker 3: That's the way in which I think you should watch
- 41:24Speaker 3: the show. So if you do that and you're like, look,
- 41:26Speaker 3: these people are ridiculous, then like you're just going to
- 41:28Speaker 3: watch a bunch of ridiculousness and it'll be fun if
- 41:30Speaker 3: you take it seriously. Again, it's just I don't think
- 41:33Speaker 3: most of us that went on there, like we obviously
- 41:36Speaker 3: took it seriously to try to match with people, but
- 41:38Speaker 3: it's like, look, we're all just be having fun. We're
- 41:39Speaker 3: all here in tuloom for the next month, like, let's
- 41:42Speaker 3: just live it up. A bunch of good looking people
- 41:43Speaker 3: in the house, Like who wouldn't enjoy this? So I
- 41:47Speaker 3: think we all were just like it was one big party.
- 41:49Speaker 3: And if you look at it that way, then you
- 41:51Speaker 3: can start to see why people were letting loose.
- 41:53Speaker 4: But that's what people want to watch. They don't want
- 41:54Speaker 4: to watch lukewarm.
- 41:55Speaker 3: They want they want crazy vibrations.
- 41:59Speaker 2: For lack of a better term. Ali and Ad ended
- 42:02Speaker 2: up winning this challenge. They are very compatible, obviously, and
- 42:05Speaker 2: we see the headlines about their relationship and kind of
- 42:08Speaker 2: where it went. The whole episode ends Clayton with Ady
- 42:12Speaker 2: and Ali in the boardroom making decisions on behalf of
- 42:17Speaker 2: the group. Clayton, I know we have to let you go.
- 42:20Speaker 2: This has been episode two of The Perfect Match. The
- 42:24Speaker 2: final episodes drop on August fifteenth. Clayton, we're entering into
- 42:29Speaker 2: episode three as you say goodbye to the listeners of
- 42:32Speaker 2: the Almost Famous podcast. Is there anything you want to
- 42:36Speaker 2: say with the stage being yours about episode three, four, five, six, seven,
- 42:40Speaker 2: eight nine.
- 42:41Speaker 3: I think if you are willing to stick around and
- 42:44Speaker 3: listen to me discuss nuance on podcasts, then you'll feel
- 42:48Speaker 3: a bit differently. But if you just watch it for
- 42:51Speaker 3: what it is and decide to move on with life
- 42:52Speaker 3: and say I've seen enough of this guy and this
- 42:54Speaker 3: is the way that I view him, then then you'll
- 42:56Speaker 3: do that. So I think there's new that can be heard,
- 43:01Speaker 3: but it's up to the viewers.
- 43:03Speaker 4: Listeners if they want to go down that path to understand.
- 43:07Speaker 2: Well, clay Neckard, thank you for joining us. Thank you guys,
- 43:11Speaker 2: Love to have you back soon.
- 43:13Speaker 4: Yeah, I see you, guys.
- 43:15Speaker 2: That was Klayton Neckard with from The Perfect Match, obviously
- 43:19Speaker 2: a former bachelor, talking through really episode two of The
- 43:24Speaker 2: Perfect Match Episode one and two. We know from the
- 43:27Speaker 2: headlines that obviously things become controversial, become polarizing in Clayton's
- 43:35Speaker 2: kind of journey through The Perfect Match. We hope to
- 43:38Speaker 2: bring him back to talk about that, but as we've committed,
- 43:41Speaker 2: we're chronologically breaking down each episode and at this point
- 43:46Speaker 2: he is still with Juliette. We see then this episode
- 43:50Speaker 2: with Rachel, we have got a confirmation that she's attending
- 43:54Speaker 2: the villa. She's going to be going on a date
- 43:56Speaker 2: with Freddie. We also see Adye and Ali kind of
- 43:59Speaker 2: doing this back and forth where he is requesting Alex
- 44:03Speaker 2: many times and she's wondering why. We don't know if
- 44:06Speaker 2: she comes into the house, who she goes on a
- 44:08Speaker 2: date with when the episode ends, but we do know
- 44:12Speaker 2: that Ali is gonna He's kind of putting himself in
- 44:16Speaker 2: the corner a little bit of what happens in the future.
- 44:19Speaker 2: I don't think it ruins anything, but I do think
- 44:21Speaker 2: it spoke enough to the decisions that he made and
- 44:25Speaker 2: why he made these decisions. Actually, to me, it sounds
- 44:27Speaker 2: like he's standing by them. It's interesting. I think The
- 44:30Speaker 2: Perfect Match Ashley, I haven't watched a lot of Netflix shows.
- 44:34Speaker 2: The Perfect Match, to me, is really fun to watch,
- 44:39Speaker 2: mostly because it is so out of my comfort zone.
- 44:44Speaker 2: And it's not even out of my comfort zone where
- 44:46Speaker 2: it's like I watched this like I want to push
- 44:47Speaker 2: myself to be like if I was single, obviously, like
- 44:51Speaker 2: I would want to be there like this is. I
- 44:53Speaker 2: would have said no to it, circrely because I would
- 44:55Speaker 2: have been a fish out of water. It's not exactly
- 44:59Speaker 2: even a comfort or I feel like I need to
- 45:00Speaker 2: push myself to do these things. No, no, but I
- 45:02Speaker 2: enjoy watching it I'm a fan of it. You've watched ahead,
- 45:09Speaker 2: I have watched it. Is this something that does?
- 45:11Speaker 4: Just watch it?
- 45:12Speaker 2: She got into it, she doesn't like it.
- 45:15Speaker 5: You guys do it together if you're gonna, you know,
- 45:18Speaker 5: really watch it like you know, like if you're on
- 45:20Speaker 5: episode four right now. I'm like, you guys are watching
- 45:23Speaker 5: it together.
- 45:24Speaker 2: Yeah, we we We've enjoyed it, you know. Clayton, it's
- 45:28Speaker 2: I'm glad he came on. I'm glad he's coming out,
- 45:30Speaker 2: you know, agreed to come on and speak to stuff
- 45:32Speaker 2: that's happening. I hope he comes back. And my advice
- 45:36Speaker 2: to him then would be to never go on a
- 45:37Speaker 2: rally television dating show again, which sounds like is where
- 45:39Speaker 2: he's at in life.
- 45:40Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I say, poor guy.
- 45:44Speaker 2: I haven't watched episode three yet. Yeah, you might just
- 45:47Speaker 2: be saying, uh, yeah, just don't do it. I don't
- 45:49Speaker 2: know if it's poor guy as much as yeah, you
- 45:51Speaker 2: probably just shouldn't. This has been the almost famous podcast again.
- 45:54Speaker 2: We're breaking down the perfect match right now because we
- 45:56Speaker 2: do have two Bachelor Nation contestants confirm to be on
- 46:01Speaker 2: the show. Clayton's there right now. We know Rachel shows
- 46:03Speaker 2: up very soon. Stay tuned for an episode three breakdown
- 46:09Speaker 2: next week. We'll be breaking it down week by week,
- 46:13Speaker 2: sometimes combining episodes together, especially as people come and go,
- 46:19Speaker 2: but we will be doing it right here on the
- 46:21Speaker 2: most famous podcast. Until next time, I have Been Been,
