- 0:00Speaker 1: Showtime one a night.
- 0:02Speaker 2: This is since nineteen hundred. Okay, first starting pitcher hit
- 0:06Speaker 2: leadoff home run in regular or postseason, first starting pitcher
- 0:09Speaker 2: to multiple home runs in a postseason game, and a
- 0:13Speaker 2: first starting pitcher with three home runs and ten strikeouts
- 0:16Speaker 2: in the same game. Let me add a little bit
- 0:19Speaker 2: of context. But first let's go to this first inning.
- 0:22Speaker 2: I don't know if you could be more impactful in
- 0:24Speaker 2: a single inning, Pedro. He goes out there on the mound.
- 0:28Speaker 2: How's he going to pitch? We don't know, strikes out
- 0:31Speaker 2: the side and boy was a feuding.
- 0:33Speaker 3: Well I told you the other day that every game
- 0:36Speaker 3: has a different DNA and every game could be different. Well,
- 0:41Speaker 3: there you have it. You have a guy that has
- 0:44Speaker 3: them pitch in thirteen days, goes out there, rights out
- 0:48Speaker 3: the side, and then he comes over like probably two
- 0:52Speaker 3: minutes after and hit the homer. And then only that
- 0:56Speaker 3: he didn't stuck there. He ended up with three ding
- 0:58Speaker 3: dunk junks and ten ks. I mean, I'm glad I'm
- 1:03Speaker 3: alive to witness what I'm witnessing, not only from this
- 1:07Speaker 3: theme but from Joe Haltani, whom my end up about
- 1:10Speaker 3: the monk unique individual that ever slept being a baseball field.
- 1:15Speaker 2: All right, they're getting ready to get it popping, and
- 1:18Speaker 2: we will have full coverage of that as well. Bob
- 1:20Speaker 2: Gibson was the only pitcher to ever strike out ten
- 1:24Speaker 2: and hit a home run. He did in the World
- 1:26Speaker 2: Series in sixty seven and sixty eight. He did not
- 1:30Speaker 2: hit multiple home runs. Show, Hey, did ten k's and
- 1:33Speaker 2: three home runs? There's a million stats? How about this?
- 1:36Speaker 2: Tonight was Otani's second career multiple home run game while pitching.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Babe Ruth did it once. I mean, we're talking Bob Gibson.
- 1:45Speaker 2: We're talking Babe Ruth and now show Hey, O Tom.
- 1:48Speaker 1: You know it's crazy you hear these dats a baby
- 1:50Speaker 1: Beef and Bob Gibson way back when.
- 1:52Speaker 4: But as you move into.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Twenty twenty, twenty twenty five, twenty fifty m beyond, you
- 1:56Speaker 1: always dit like, did it really happen?
- 1:58Speaker 4: Right? But here you get a chance to see it,
- 2:00Speaker 4: and you've got a chance to watch it and experience
- 2:03Speaker 4: the crowd and the reaction. We're in the green room
- 2:05Speaker 4: and we felt the base from the speakers, so we
- 2:08Speaker 4: knew something big was about to happen, but we didn't
- 2:10Speaker 4: think it was gonna be like this out of the stadium,
- 2:13Speaker 4: and everyone's gonna have something to talk about because they've
- 2:15Speaker 4: witnessed it, and you'll be able to play it back
- 2:17Speaker 4: on repeat the show up.
- 2:18Speaker 2: The Dodgers will put a plaque where that ball hit
- 2:21Speaker 2: four hundred and sixty nine feet that second home run.
- 2:24Speaker 2: O'tani hit over thirteen hundred feet. Of home runs tonight,
- 2:28Speaker 2: Jimmy rollins, each of them as impressive as the lives.
- 2:31Speaker 5: That's a lot of home runs. And you know, you
- 2:33Speaker 5: guys have brought us some great points. Pedro talked about DNA.
- 2:36Speaker 5: I don't think he has DNA. I think we found
- 2:38Speaker 5: him on another planet and we injected in with some
- 2:40Speaker 5: alien juice and they put him in a form of
- 2:42Speaker 5: a human named shoey Otani. And there were guys that
- 2:46Speaker 5: have changed the game. And we hear about another sports
- 2:48Speaker 5: Jordan Lebron, Wilt chamber Chamberlain, Bob Gibson, what happened he
- 2:53Speaker 5: was so good at the Lower the Mound.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Show.
- 2:56Speaker 5: Hey, he has his own rule. You can pitch and
- 2:59Speaker 5: be a and b a DH that way, when you're
- 3:01Speaker 5: done pitching, we still want you win a game. That's
- 3:04Speaker 5: how specially is you're talking about thirteen hundred feet of
- 3:06Speaker 5: home runs. Man, only one guy can do that. Actually
- 3:10Speaker 5: two guys. One of them isn't playing that. Other guys
- 3:12Speaker 5: already already fishing somewhere. But the guy that we're watching
- 3:15Speaker 5: now and what we're seeing is special. So I hope
- 3:17Speaker 5: that everybody out there is really taking us in because
- 3:20Speaker 5: this is a generational player. You say, these guys come
- 3:22Speaker 5: around once in a lifetime. I'm glad he's hearing our lifetime.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Can we take another look at the four hundred and
- 3:27Speaker 2: sixty nine foot ding Dom Johnson, because that one I
- 3:31Speaker 2: felt like the stadium was shaking to his core of pedro.
- 3:34Speaker 3: Well, this is in drastic I always expect him to
- 3:39Speaker 3: hit homers, but to hit that kind of distance, it's
- 3:43Speaker 3: like through another level when you watch him. And we
- 3:46Speaker 3: were dunking in the pre game about facing on Towne
- 3:49Speaker 3: and you know the amount of pitch of the eye.
- 3:52Speaker 2: He has one hundred for.
- 3:53Speaker 3: You too, he ain fos. We were arguing over that,
- 3:57Speaker 3: but we never we never thought that what was gonna
- 4:01Speaker 3: witness a homer at that distance. So Totana is like
- 4:06Speaker 3: taking everything he does to to to the next level
- 4:10Speaker 3: and beyond. It's like Otani's hanging the standards so high
- 4:15Speaker 3: that most of us are gonna have to take a
- 4:17Speaker 3: plane to get there. So I don't have enough words
- 4:21Speaker 3: to describe how impressed I am with the way Otani
- 4:25Speaker 3: has handled not only in the field, but up the field.
- 4:29Speaker 3: His physical body to actually be able to do those
- 4:32Speaker 3: things that he's doing is impressive. I would love to
- 4:36Speaker 3: sneak in and see his routine.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Just to watch.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Oh my god, it doesn't come across my mind how
- 4:43Speaker 3: this guy probably prepared to do all these things that
- 4:47Speaker 3: he doesn't highlight.
- 4:48Speaker 2: To see your former teammate leading this group of guys, Dave.
- 4:51Speaker 3: Roberts, I'm full of pride and I'm and I'm I'm
- 4:54Speaker 3: so grateful for him, and I'm so happy to see
- 4:58Speaker 3: him do this. If they're there's someone that could probably
- 5:01Speaker 3: tell you I don't want to give anybody any lead
- 5:04Speaker 3: or anything in this game is Dave Roberts. Because he
- 5:08Speaker 3: became part of history and he made us champions. To
- 5:12Speaker 3: all of us after eighty six years waiting in Boston,
- 5:14Speaker 3: the Dodgers are.
- 5:16Speaker 2: The first team since the Phillies and nine to win
- 5:19Speaker 2: a World Series and make it back. We have not
- 5:21Speaker 2: had back to back champions in this sport in twenty
- 5:25Speaker 2: five years, the longest of the four major sports. You
- 5:28Speaker 2: know how tough it is. You got back to that
- 5:30Speaker 2: mountain top you fought against the Yankees to win. They're
- 5:33Speaker 2: in this situation now. What is in store for them,
- 5:35Speaker 2: whether it is the Mariners or the Bluechers.
- 5:38Speaker 5: I think they have a pretty good chance. I mean,
- 5:41Speaker 5: this team is so good on all levels where their
- 5:44Speaker 5: pitching is going right now. But when you get there,
- 5:47Speaker 5: you're not thinking about honestly winning back to back because
- 5:50Speaker 5: you have to win game one and then game two,
- 5:52Speaker 5: and a third, then a fourth. That's all you're really
- 5:54Speaker 5: thinking about. And then when it's over, either you got
- 5:56Speaker 5: the job done or you didn't. They're very prepared. We
- 5:59Speaker 5: talked about it, I think yesterday, how they are the
- 6:02Speaker 5: best team. They know they're the best. They have the
- 6:04Speaker 5: expectations of being the best. They seem to gloat with that,
- 6:07Speaker 5: like we want to show you that we're the best
- 6:09Speaker 5: right now, But we want you to talk about us
- 6:11Speaker 5: when we talk about the greats this run that we're on.
- 6:13Speaker 5: When you mentioned the Yankees of the early nineteen hundreds
- 6:16Speaker 5: and all those other generational teams and other sports, you
- 6:20Speaker 5: have to talk about the Los Angeles Dodgers and what
- 6:22Speaker 5: they're doing right now with this squad with show had
- 6:25Speaker 5: the best player, and not only that, everybody else chips in.
- 6:27Speaker 5: It's not like they just ride them off to the sunset.
- 6:30Speaker 5: Everybody does something and when you're getting that, it makes
- 6:33Speaker 5: your better players great.
- 6:35Speaker 1: And it's amazing to watch that this team had. We
- 6:38Speaker 1: had Kershaw up here talking about the pitching, the bullpen
- 6:41Speaker 1: and this rotation. One of the things that's always a
- 6:43Speaker 1: worry when you win this early, you're gonna have some
- 6:45Speaker 1: time off and it could possibly cool the bats, even
- 6:49Speaker 1: if it does. That pitching staff and that rotation, that's
- 6:52Speaker 1: one of the things that typically doesn't calm down. And
- 6:54Speaker 1: when you can run four arms out there the way
- 6:57Speaker 1: that they can do multiple times, and they even mentioning
- 7:01Speaker 1: that Otani could come out of relief if this series
- 7:04Speaker 1: would have extended, or definitely expect him to do that
- 7:06Speaker 1: in the World Series. I mean, they have weapons of
- 7:08Speaker 1: ton weapons upon weapons and remember offensively, they really hadn't
- 7:12Speaker 1: clicked much of this series until tonight, and tonight the
- 7:16Speaker 1: top three of the lineup got the top four of
- 7:18Speaker 1: the lineup got it going. Prior to that it was
- 7:20Speaker 1: the bottom four or five of the line. So even
- 7:22Speaker 1: if the offense gets a little cool, like you can
- 7:24Speaker 1: sometimes see with a lot of time off those arms
- 7:27Speaker 1: are gonna step up in a big way.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Otani came into this game batting two for eleven in
- 7:32Speaker 2: the series. Pitching wise, the starters a point six y
- 7:36Speaker 2: three for the series, fourth lowest in any series since
- 7:40Speaker 2: er became an official stat in nineteen twelve. I also
- 7:44Speaker 2: want to say this, Otani took batting practice, and since
- 7:48Speaker 2: then he had a triple in his first of bat
- 7:50Speaker 2: He did this today and he was hitting home runs
- 7:52Speaker 2: out of the park the same area. I'm wondering if
- 7:55Speaker 2: the visualization played a key, But I just want you guys.
- 7:58Speaker 2: You guys are all some of the best teammates in leagues.
- 8:00Speaker 2: This is the batting practice. Could this have woken this man?
- 8:04Speaker 2: Is this maybe the key to what we saw? Sure?
- 8:06Speaker 5: For sure we talked about you know how much he
- 8:07Speaker 5: hits in a cage. He doesn't go out there, and
- 8:09Speaker 5: I think that's part of his preservation. He can't go
- 8:11Speaker 5: out there and exert himself every day. He has to
- 8:13Speaker 5: keep something in the tank because he does. He does
- 8:15Speaker 5: both sides but when you go out there and you
- 8:18Speaker 5: see in the ball, leave the ball apart and not
- 8:19Speaker 5: just hit the top of a cage, like okay, that's
- 8:21Speaker 5: what it feels like when I pull the ball. This
- 8:23Speaker 5: is what it feels like when I go alpho. This
- 8:25Speaker 5: is what it feels like in a cage. That may
- 8:27Speaker 5: feel good. You come out here and it's just a
- 8:28Speaker 5: fly ball to the Warner track. Seeing the ball go
- 8:31Speaker 5: out the yard not only builds your confidence, but it
- 8:33Speaker 5: gives you something to feel. When you hit the ball,
- 8:37Speaker 5: there's something that happens in your body or then they
- 8:39Speaker 5: wakes up as like oh here we go. And I
- 8:41Speaker 5: said it this last series. Sometimes it takes one swing
- 8:44Speaker 5: and it doesn't have to be a hit. It can
- 8:45Speaker 5: be a foul ball and everything lines up. And we
- 8:48Speaker 5: saw it line up pretty well these last two nights.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Kershaw's shirt is off, all right, it's barely wear it pants.
- 8:55Speaker 3: And nobody more deserving than than taking Kershaw. But it's
- 9:00Speaker 3: it's intriguing to me. As we were watching how Otani
- 9:05Speaker 3: evolved into his game today, it was it was like a.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Pretty sneaky routine.
- 9:12Speaker 3: We didn't get to see so much more of his routine,
- 9:16Speaker 3: but it seemed to be working exactly how he executed today,
- 9:20Speaker 3: and and and it's really it's really nice to see
- 9:23Speaker 3: that he was able to kind of block the bad
- 9:26Speaker 3: moments that he was having and and put a road
- 9:29Speaker 3: together within three days to actually come over today and
- 9:33Speaker 3: just grab the MVP, you know, pretty much single handedly
- 9:39Speaker 3: win the game by himself. It is amazing. That's why
- 9:42Speaker 3: I think it's so intriguing to see how a Tani
- 9:45Speaker 3: prepares because everything he did seemed to come into play today,
- 9:50Speaker 3: including that he didn't be pee outside. He never asked
- 9:54Speaker 3: for that and he did it, so he probably knows
- 9:57Speaker 3: himself even better than that people.
- 10:01Speaker 2: I think what's pretty special too is he's on the
- 10:03Speaker 2: podium with Shahti. This is about my team. He gets
- 10:06Speaker 2: up there, we're watching him celebrate. In the locker room,
- 10:08Speaker 2: he's the one going up to other guys and pouring
- 10:10Speaker 2: the beers over their head. He never seems like he's
- 10:13Speaker 2: too big for the game, even though he is the
- 10:16Speaker 2: biggest in the game.
- 10:16Speaker 1: Well, he definitely wanted to make sure everybody has some
- 10:18Speaker 1: saki too, you know, you got to make sure everybody's
- 10:21Speaker 1: joining that. But Muki said something amazing yesterday. Our Michael
- 10:24Speaker 1: Jordan has not been going, and the fact that everybody
- 10:28Speaker 1: on their team look at him that way. Everybody in
- 10:30Speaker 1: the stadium looks at him that way. You walk throughout
- 10:33Speaker 1: the concourse, it's oh, Tani jersey after o Tani jersey
- 10:36Speaker 1: after Otani jersey. And to be able to put all
- 10:39Speaker 1: that aside when everyone's wanting you to get a big
- 10:41Speaker 1: hit and you're starting to get through a little bit
- 10:43Speaker 1: of a slump, you figure something out and the next
- 10:45Speaker 1: thing you know, you get it going on the biggest
- 10:47Speaker 1: stage to send your team to the World Series. He's
- 10:49Speaker 1: do two shots of saki tonight to celebrate.
- 10:52Speaker 2: Uh, we thought it was two. He's gonna have to
- 10:54Speaker 2: do three. Oh that's right, you got Oh you're leaving
- 10:57Speaker 2: me out, No, just show he taking four.
- 11:00Speaker 5: Oh, okay, we'll do the three. Guess we got for
- 11:04Speaker 5: you brother?
- 11:05Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 11:08Speaker 3: I remember Tony said everybody should have a good packing. Yeah,
- 11:12Speaker 3: the good more sacking, more
- 11:14Speaker 2: Happy Dodgers nine and one this postseason, twenty four and
- 11:20Speaker 2: six in their last thirty
