- 0:47Also streamer from the KCAA radio.com website and NBR Radio
- 0:52dot US. We got to bless the show.
- 0:54Before we get started, let's go. When it was in my mother's womb,
- 0:59I had a calling on my life to do something in the glory of God
- 1:04and marry it like a wife, commit myself to His Word and never be
- 1:09LED astray. And when it's all over, when He
- 1:12comes, I'll be glad to see that day in the morning time.
- 1:38Hey, what's up man? How you doing?
- 1:39I'm. Blessed my brother.
- 1:41I'm good, man, I'm good. Hey, did you see the game last
- 1:43night? Oh.
- 1:43How was your game? But did you see the?
- 1:44Shot. I lost money from that.
- 1:46Oh, man, That shot was old man. But it was good, yeah.
- 1:53What's the note? You really want to know.
- 1:59I do. Exhaustion, muscle spasm,
- 2:06Asthmatic issues, Unexpected sickle cell trait type.
- 2:10Are. You serious?
- 2:12When I was young I found out I had sickle cell trait.
- 2:15My mom's told me but I didn't have no knowledge of it.
- 2:17But when I got older, I had a child and the doctor told me my
- 2:20daughter had sickle cell trait. You know, the fact that both
- 2:23parents have sickle cell trait, there's a 50% chance the child
- 2:25may have the trait and 25% chance the child may have the
- 2:29disease. And that's what's the count.
- 2:31Do you know that 225,000,000 people in the United States have
- 2:33sickle cell trait? 300 million people globally.
- 2:36I didn't find out I had sickle cell trait until I was in the
- 2:38Army 10 years. Next thing you know I had a
- 2:40sickle cell trait exertion site. April cell.
- 2:43I thought that was a. Black Gen.
- 2:44Or something. Nah man, the black community is
- 2:47number 21 out of 36,000 babies are being born with sickle cell
- 2:50disease. You could be Caucasian,
- 2:52Mediterranean, European. You gotta wear your bloodline,
- 2:54man. There is an inherited gene in
- 2:59our community that has been forgotten.
- 3:01The name is Sickle Cell trait. WDCONSCT, also known as What's
- 3:06the Count, is out to bring awareness, education and
- 3:09prevention to people all over the globe.

- 7:03to the Frondosi show on the Military Broadcast Radio
- 7:07network. That's right.
- 7:08That's MB Radio. dot US. Thank you for tuning listening
- 7:11today as always, we have a very important show for you here on
- 7:16Wednesdays at 4:00 PM Pacific Time, 7:00 on the East Coast.
- 7:20Make sure you catch us streaming also at KCA Radio on Tuesdays at
- 7:266:00 PM Pacific Time over there. Another version of Rondo's issue
- 7:30here. We do a lot of our military
- 7:33talks, causes, of course, my sickle cell trade talk, which is
- 7:36what you're going to some of today as we are educating
- 7:39veterans and celebrating veterans.
- 7:42But yeah, today is a special edition.
- 7:43It is Sickle Cell Awareness Month.
- 7:46And if you've been listening and watching the PSA's in the
- 7:49beginning, that is APSA that was able to produce in 2016.
- 7:53When I came into this community 16 years ago, there was a lot of
- 7:56conversations about, oh, there's no, we don't have no pre essays
- 7:58and nothing. And so a guy that put on my
- 8:01heart somewhere around 2012 or so, this idea and it was like
- 8:09this, it was what you saw. It was a bus stop, 2 guys
- 8:11talking and then this girl walks by and I think Genuine had a
- 8:15song any any more room for me in those jeans?
- 8:17It's a genuine inspired song by that.
- 8:19And so taking that idea, that song, and then putting that in
- 8:22the PSA few years later, I was able to produce that and edit
- 8:26it. And there you have it.
- 8:28So that's been around for a little bit.
- 8:31I'm blessed to have that. And then they're just some other
- 8:33things that we're doing. So I wanted today to be a
- 8:37special day for us to bring some conversations forward with the
- 8:40people that I have met on this journey, very, very important
- 8:44people that you're going to meet tonight that are close and near
- 8:46and dear to my heart. Because when I came on the scene
- 8:49with this sickle cell trade conversation, I was lost.
- 8:52I had just found out I was a trade carrier.
- 8:55I had collapsed in the military with the trade exertion in the
- 8:58random myelosis and depressed and suicide ideations and
- 9:01everything was it was over. And then it wasn't until one of
- 9:05my my platoon leader during the war over 5, we served together
- 9:10and we never talked about any of sickle cell nothing, no health
- 9:13and Wellness talks, nothing. I had actually had some
- 9:16complications during that deployment.
- 9:18I was in pain, my hand had swollen up.
- 9:20I could barely walk. And so wasn't until almost four
- 9:25years after I collapsed that I run into him on the military
- 9:28base and he's like, how you been?
- 9:31Like, you don't want to know. It's like, tell me like, man, I
- 9:33could barely walk. You know, I'm going through
- 9:36these mental health appointments.
- 9:37Think I'm losing my mind. He says, man, my muscles locked
- 9:40up on me one time, but I got sickle cell trade.
- 9:42So I have to drink extra water, take these vitamins and I'm
- 9:45standing there like, why does that sound familiar?
- 9:48And then I remember in 19 nine, I did my second physical in the
- 9:51Army with the Air Force Base and the Air Force found my sickle
- 9:55cell trade. Call me in a panic.
- 9:57So I run back to the clinic like what's going on?
- 10:00And he's like, do you know you have sickle cell trade?
- 10:02No. OK, just want to let you know,
- 10:05not the disease. So you should have nothing to
- 10:07worry about. Don't make another person.
- 10:08That's all they tell us. And oh, I'm good.
- 10:11I'm 29 years old at the time. I'm moving it.
- 10:13I'm moving my family to Michigan to be a supply Sergeant for
- 10:16infantry company. So I'm like, OK, cool, nothing
- 10:18to worry about. OK, boom, I'm out.
- 10:20And never thought about it again until he mentioned that in 2010.
- 10:26So from 99 until 2010, that conversation popped up again and
- 10:32I went back into the clinic, grab my documentation, got that
- 10:36physical and I'm reading, flipping the pages and there it
- 10:38was positive, a yes, sickle cell trait.
- 10:42And so I take that to my rheumatologist and UCLA Medical
- 10:45Center because now I'm dealing with arthritis, diagnosed with
- 10:48arthritis, my whole body is inflamed.
- 10:51And so she takes that paper, retest my blood and find out
- 10:55that there's 40% of my red blood cells, a sickle cell trait.
- 10:58And then we did some more research and she found that the
- 11:01rhythm myelosis and the sickle cell trait was the factor in the
- 11:05connection of my collapsing in 2006.
- 11:08And so that gave me some insights of what happened to me
- 11:11after all those years. And that take that Med paperwork
- 11:14to the, the military doctors and they find me not fit for
- 11:17service. And that forced my military
- 11:19retirement after fighting for that for three years, all my
- 11:23pills, they were like, not you got to go, especially with the
- 11:26arthritis and the the shots that I was taking for that, they were
- 11:29like, you got to go. And so my, my point is the power
- 11:33of a conversation, the power of information.
- 11:36I, if he, if I had not seen Captain Adams that day, at that
- 11:41time, what I have found, I mean, I don't, I don't want to play
- 11:44that game of what ifs, but you can see how important the
- 11:48conversation can be for people to find out information just to
- 11:51plant that seed just for knowledge, right?
- 11:54And so I'm very appreciative of that.
- 11:56So during that time frame, when I started doing my research, I
- 12:00found Doctor Tim, the Randolph. I was found the as one
- 12:03foundation and then was trying to e-mail them and Doctor Austin
- 12:06had just took over. So I had missed her in the same
- 12:10process. Lupita and and Raimundo, I met
- 12:13them from a guy that was helping me build my website for my
- 12:16sickle subrate in in 2014. And, and so all these people
- 12:20that you're going to see that are, that are available today
- 12:23are key components to this conversation around sickle cell
- 12:27trait because there's so many different aspects.
- 12:29That's why I called it the aspects of sickle cell trait,
- 12:32because there's so many dynamics to this conversation, because it
- 12:36does lead to sickle cell, right? When those two parents have that
- 12:40inherited gene and they pass that gene to that child, whether
- 12:44it's s s or SC or SD or sickle beta thiol, right?
- 12:48So for me as a trade care, we have to be responsible for those
- 12:52other traits, but then we have to also be responsible for
- 12:55sickle cell trade itself. So for me, sickle cell trade has
- 12:59its own awareness, education and prevention conversations because
- 13:05of how it's inherited. And if we're going to be able to
- 13:09focus on sickle cell trade, because if you, for me, it's
- 13:13it's been drowned out. And when you pull up, even if
- 13:16you Google sickle cell trade, sickle cell disease pops up
- 13:19ahead of that. And and so it's like, OK, at
- 13:21what point do we break this conversation so that people can
- 13:25get the awareness that they need that are trait carriers.
- 13:29And of course, if the patient, if the patient has sickle cell,
- 13:32then that means the parents are sickle cell trait carriers.
- 13:35So there is a connection in that.
- 13:37But for me and the work that I do, I have to separate the
- 13:40sickle cell trait conversation because it's had, it has its own
- 13:44awareness, education, prevention measures and conversations.
- 13:48So it's not that we're separate, but there is a part that we have
- 13:51to focus for the trade carriers because there are a lot of
- 13:54things that I discovered when I found out that it was even trade
- 13:56related to find in the medical books that pain crisis, high
- 14:02altitudes, the exertion, blood clots, that the the rare kidney
- 14:07cancer, all that stuff has been in the medical books.
- 14:11Most of that stuff has been there, but it hadn't been talked
- 14:13about. And so I'm here to deliver that
- 14:16message. All right, so we're going to get
- 14:18that show started. I do see my first guest.
- 14:21I'm going to bring him up because we do talk about sports
- 14:25here. There was a sports segment,
- 14:26sports collective, TV, media and radio.
- 14:29And this guy right here, because there's so many different
- 14:31sports. I, I, I, I titled them
- 14:33different, you know, segments. So big Dre is here.
- 14:37We're going to be talking about the bags, the canvas, which is a
- 14:40boxing segment, bags the canvas. And then I got panel here.
- 14:44I'm waiting for Doctor Maisha to show and then we're just going
- 14:47to get started. And if you have any questions,
- 14:49follow me along at Ferron Dosier on all your platforms.
- 14:52If you want to be a guest, you can welcome to be a guest here
- 14:55as well. So I'm going to play one more
- 14:58couple more PS as come back with big Dre with the bags of canvas
- 15:01segment. And then we're going to get
- 15:02right into this aspects of sickle cell trade.
- 15:05Oh, and by the way, I was asked to to help lead by Felice the
- 15:11grief portion of our sickle cell community conversation.
- 15:14And so if you, we're going to be having more segments about that,
- 15:18about grief. So we've had we've lost a lot
- 15:21of, I want to say a lot. We lost a few key advocates in
- 15:25this past year so far. And it just, it's, it's fun this
- 15:29conversation. And so because Felice knows me
- 15:32from back in the day since I started, she asked me if I would
- 15:35take the lead on having this conversation around grief.
- 15:38And it's important to me in my transition of losing my father
- 15:43seven years ago and, and actually doing the work around
- 15:46grief. I would say that, you know,
- 15:47grief, some people want to leave it to time.
- 15:50I mean, there's no wrong answer. But for me, I'm like, I know
- 15:54principles work. If you apply these principles to
- 15:57your life, there's transformation.
- 15:59There's Peace of Mind on the other side of those principles.
- 16:02And so when I saw that with my dad and, and, and his passing
- 16:05and how I felt and what I made it mean about myself, I knew
- 16:08that if I go take these grief counseling classes or these
- 16:11grief support groups, I'm going to find some tools to help,
- 16:14right? So when I did go to those
- 16:17classes, and I did take those grief counseling and I did share
- 16:20my story and listen to other people, share their experiences
- 16:23and what they were caring and dealing with, I was able to
- 16:26understand that in grief, there's three sections.
- 16:29There's loss, there's mourning, and there's grieving.
- 16:32And so I had to look at those from each category and find my
- 16:36peace in breathing, find my peace in the morning.
- 16:41And then the last piece that I discovered was the loss.
- 16:44And the loss was for me. I kept holding on to, I mean, my
- 16:49dad were complete. We were complete.
- 16:51There's no resentment, there's no regret.
- 16:53We reconciled, we healed. He passed away unexpectedly in
- 16:56his sleep. I didn't get a chance to say bye
- 16:58or none of that. But I know that in my heart that
- 17:01we were complete. I had said everything.
- 17:03There was no unforgiveness present that we were.
- 17:06We were always clear when we talked to each other.
- 17:09But there was a part of that in this transition that I didn't
- 17:13realize that I made it mean something about who I was now.
- 17:17And so in the lost category for some people, you have to look at
- 17:21the identity. And the identity was I wish that
- 17:25I had more time with my dad Now we were good.
- 17:27But he and I, he should be on this sickle cell trade talk
- 17:30today, right? Because I got the gene from him.
- 17:32So as I'm living my life and doing these conversations of
- 17:35this to be a son and father relationship with father, like
- 17:38all those things that we have planned to do together, now he's
- 17:42gone. I was holding on to that.
- 17:44And and I talked to myself like I wish I had more time with him.
- 17:48Like he should be here. He should be doing these talk
- 17:50shows. He should be speaking with me,
- 17:51sharing his part of the story and in the loss, when I read the
- 17:55book, the grief book about that chapter, it said that yes, for
- 17:59some, for some, it's who who are we now when that person is no
- 18:04longer here, which is the identity?
- 18:06Who am I now without my dad here on earth, my earthly father?
- 18:11And so when I saw that and I read that, I was like, Oh my
- 18:13gosh, that's right. That's how I feel.
- 18:15I feel like I wish he was here. We should be doing this, but
- 18:18he's not here. He's gone.
- 18:19He ain't coming back. So am I going to keep my, my
- 18:23ideas and my will about that conversation or I'm going to
- 18:26allow God's will be done? And, and because that's, that's
- 18:31what that's what soul, he's not coming back.
- 18:33So after I put myself in that frame and, and, and looked at it
- 18:36and told the truth to myself, I was able to let that identity go
- 18:40and figure out, OK, now I don't have my dad.
- 18:44After 49 years, I don't have my dad anymore.
- 18:47But now who am I? Oh, I'm, I'm a dad, I'm a
- 18:49grandfather. So now it's my turn.
- 18:51So then I had to be able to look at that for myself with my
- 18:54identity without my earthly father and be OK.
- 18:57And honestly, those emotions, that identity, it, it, it, I was
- 19:03able to let it go. And I, I've, I've been at
- 19:05another level of peace in my grief.
- 19:07I still think about him. I, I experienced missing him
- 19:10every day. I look in the mirror, I see his
- 19:11face that hasn't gone away, but my emotional attachment to the
- 19:15identity of Faron and his father and who I am without my dad was
- 19:20a key point for me to be able to let that go and be at peace with
- 19:24like, OK, I believe in God and I believe it's your will.
- 19:27If I believe that your will be done in my life, then then
- 19:30that's another aspect of that that I have to let go.
- 19:33And so for us as a, as a community, whether it's sickle
- 19:36cell or whatever the cause or whatever around life and death
- 19:40that we see on the news, I mean, we see it every day.
- 19:43That's what they published. That's what they, they show us
- 19:45life and death. It's my opinion.
- 19:48I only get, I only get an opinion when, where, why, how
- 19:50people die. We only get an opinion and it,
- 19:53and it's important because again, with the sickle cell
- 19:56trade and people passing away from trade exertion and die,
- 19:59it's like the burden is there. Yes, we care.
- 20:02That's why we're here today to have this conversation, because
- 20:05we care. And I don't even know if I can
- 20:08say that we can prevent a premature death.
- 20:10You know, because if we believe in God and it's God's will, then
- 20:14these conversations just remind us that we need to have these
- 20:18conversations as much as I can share and tell and talk about
- 20:20that. So I'm grateful to be a part of
- 20:22that grief aspect of the show. And so again, we'll be talking
- 20:25about those dynamics around grief.
- 20:28So again, thank you for tune listening in.
- 20:30If you are streaming on either YouTube or Roku TV X wherever
- 20:37you watching the side. We appreciate you for today.
- 20:39Again, I'm going to play this PSA and come back and get with
- 20:43big Dre on the backs of canvas segment.

- 25:51He's treating him the way he needs to be.
- 25:52Let it, you know, let him know that you can't be a a victim to
- 25:55this game, you know, of the boxing world.
- 25:59And Jeff got it was on with Jeff to talk to the the and there

- 27:22The lovely Miss Kimberly. I was.
- 27:25Stuck to the band. I'm I'm so happy I'm planning

- 28:22That was a great main event that bull put out a great Jermaine's
- 28:27knockout and he was in the second round.
- 28:30Yeah, well, I did like the fourth round because the first
- 28:33two rounds was a wrestling match.
- 28:34WWE stick was on the ground. I won't do it.
- 28:37But after that he took out and pulled it back.
- 28:39Bam, there it was. Yeah.
- 28:41Yeah. So be a dream, man.
- 28:43Thanks man. Good seeing you, man.

- 29:15So one more PSA come back and then we're going to talk about

- 31:40All right, let's get started. I'm going to bring.
- 31:43Up. My the first person that was
- 31:47here today, she was like she was early too.
- 31:49She was like, I'm in the building, I'm in the building.
- 31:51This is Richie, What's happening?
- 31:53This is Richie come off of mute for me.
- 31:55How you doing? I am wonderful.
- 31:58How are you? What's happening, lady?
- 32:02Same old thing, just a different day.
- 32:04Happy to. Be here.
- 32:06You know, again, it was it was it was kind of further in my
- 32:10advocacy work and world that when I met you.
- 32:14So do me a favor, introduce yourself to the listeners and
- 32:17give him a little bit of background of even though you
- 32:19know why you're here today for this conversation.
- 32:22OK, I'll be happy to do that. My name is Richard Johnson.
- 32:25I am a registered nurse by profession.
- 32:28And 14 years ago, I lost my youngest son, Chris, to renal
- 32:33medullary carcinoma. And it was while he was
- 32:37receiving treatment that he noticed a lack of advocacy for
- 32:42renal medullary carcinoma. And for sure we did not know the
- 32:46sickle cell trait was the main factor of this deadly cancer.
- 32:50And RMC is one of the deadliest of all kidney cancers.
- 32:55It was first described in 1995. But there was not any advocacy
- 33:00done and there was no research and there were no treatment
- 33:04modalities. And so Chris wanted to start a
- 33:08foundation. So we did start the Chrissy J
- 33:10Johnson Foundation. Unfortunately, it was started
- 33:14after he passed. He did live 15 months after
- 33:17diagnosis. But since our existence, we now
- 33:22have treatment modality specifically for patients with
- 33:26REMC. We're now working on our fifth
- 33:29clinical trial and the survival rate has increased from 1% to
- 33:3510%. And we are global and have the
- 33:38only REMC support group for patients as well as the only
- 33:45grief support group for family REMC.
- 33:49So I am happy to be here. Thank you so much.
- 33:52And it's it's I mean at RMC conversation is had been such a
- 33:59missing discussion right piece of our work.
- 34:03And even as I start to learn about it from you and meeting
- 34:06you and doing these conferences with you and sharing the stage
- 34:09with you. Ronnie Hillman who passed away.
- 34:14That's far as I know the most recent couple years back to play
- 34:17for the Denver Broncos won a championship up there sickle
- 34:20cell trade carrier. And what's wild was his cousin
- 34:24is a prophet at my church and he came on the prayer line 1
- 34:27morning praying, asking for prayer for his cousin.
- 34:30And it wasn't until he transitioned and I was like,
- 34:34wait a minute, That's that's who we was talking, praying for.
- 34:37And it was like, Oh my gosh. And when I saw that it was RMC,
- 34:40I'm like, Oh my gosh. So when I let the prophet know
- 34:44the word, I mean, he's aware of the work that Jordan and I do.
- 34:46But that was, that's how close it came to me is like, we were
- 34:49praying for Ronnie. And it's like, and then we
- 34:52looked at like, well, he's on a professional NFL team.
- 34:55Like, how did they not catch? They got the we think the best
- 34:58doctors right would be on the planet would be a part of his
- 35:00football team. And yet they didn't discover his
- 35:03until, you know, stage 5. And it was like a few months,
- 35:08weeks later, he was gone. Exactly.
- 35:11And and that is the problem with kidney cancer overall is that
- 35:16you're normally asymptomatic until it's full blown and
- 35:21usually you'll have the blood in your urine and that's what
- 35:23usually send you to the. It's a sign.
- 35:26Wow. Again, thank you for being open
- 35:29and sharing. You are very key component of
- 35:32this conversation as it's a rare kidney cancer and sickle cell
- 35:35trait is connected to it. So thank you so much for being
- 35:38here today. I'm going to bring up someone
- 35:40else real quick and then introduce them.
- 35:41And then like I said, we'll get this panel discussion going.
- 35:45All right, So up next, let's go to Doctor Dab.
- 35:49Doctor Dabney. Man, you, you, you the latest
- 35:52and the greatest in my in my crew, man.
- 35:55Thank you. Introduce yourself, introduce
- 35:57yourself so we can get this is exciting with you.
- 35:59Let's well, I'm glad, glad to be here.
- 36:02Thank you for inviting me back. I think this is our third, third
- 36:06talk. Yeah.
- 36:09So my name is Doctor Dabney. I am a integrative medicine
- 36:13physician here in Decatur, GA. But I've been working with
- 36:18sickle cell patients for about 10 years, about 10 years.
- 36:24But I did get involved with working with sickle cell
- 36:28patients. It's because my wife, she's an
- 36:30OBGYN and she had a sickle cell patient and she referred her to
- 36:35me because she wanted to look at another alternative approach.
- 36:39And I got to her and I said, well, I had never really worked
- 36:44with the sickle cell patient before.
- 36:46She's like, well, you need to learn because I need to, I need
- 36:49some help. I had to, I had to start doing a
- 36:52lot of research and was able to work with her and get her crisis
- 36:56and stuff under control. But that was the beginning and
- 36:59starting getting more involved with more sickle cell forms.
- 37:04That's how I end up meeting, meeting you just trying to let
- 37:08people aware that sickle cell with a sickle cell trait or
- 37:14sickle cell disease that things can be done to help reduce the,
- 37:19the symptoms. I'm not saying cure, but I'm
- 37:21saying reduce a lot of the symptoms.
- 37:23A lot of times people just don't know.
- 37:26And I've had people that are in Africa that I've worked with
- 37:29because they're out there and, and they don't really have a lot
- 37:33of a lot of good support. So I was able to work with them
- 37:37and I still keep in contact with them and was able to keep his
- 37:41voice crying. He was in the hospital all the
- 37:43time. He was like 5 or 6 years old.
- 37:45See now I think he's like 13. He's reduced the sickle cell
- 37:49crisis to a minimum. I mean, he still has them.
- 37:52But I did offer since I'm so far away and.
- 37:57Can't fly. Now I just, well, there's
- 37:59certain things in your neighborhood.
- 38:01I mean in your in your backyard or there's certain.
- 38:03Things that. Food groups that you can try,
- 38:05they weren't aware of that. So just making them aware, you
- 38:08know, so, and, and you again, our, our conversation initially,
- 38:13you know, just you were so helpful in helping me.
- 38:18We educated me about some of these conversation and, and it
- 38:21stuck on me the most was the white cells, because you know,
- 38:25me and Jody, we have our rap called battle of the jeans, the
- 38:28red cell versus the white cell. And I'm the white cell, right?
- 38:30And so when we started talking about inflammation and you
- 38:33started breaking down and I'm like, wait a minute, hold on,
- 38:36wait, wait, wait. You mean you, you introduced the
- 38:39mass cells, the a mass cell? What, what does it look like?
- 38:42Nobody talks. Nobody really.
- 38:45There are some people and some doctors out there that really
- 38:48don't believe the extent of a damage with mast cells.
- 38:51That's what it is. It's something called a mast
- 38:54cell activation syndrome. So I'm like, well, someone's
- 38:57giving it a name, so it must have.
- 38:59Some. Existence, but it's they're not
- 39:01putting the pieces together. Of, of of.
- 39:04What could be happening not with just sickle cell patients, but
- 39:06just people that are having problem.
- 39:09I probably would be able to discuss more on that.
- 39:12But yeah, it's just a matter of educating the public that these
- 39:15symptoms are not just allergy symptoms.
- 39:18Sometimes they resemble it, but it's it sometimes it go deeper
- 39:21until they start having anaphylactic, you know, shock
- 39:26and then that's when people want to recognize.
- 39:28But you can kind of catch this up early if you if you know the
- 39:31symptoms. Yeah, and that.
- 39:32And so that's why I'm like, man, can you come, 'cause this, this
- 39:36whole, this white cell conversation information like I,
- 39:39I know that first hand. And, and a lot of the holistic
- 39:42things that we deal with go after the, the information in
- 39:45the body more time with the well actually with sickle cells, red
- 39:48blood cell, right. Right.
- 39:49Think about. I do.
- 39:51I tell people sickle cell like rheumatoid arthritis and other
- 39:55different disease, they're inflammatory and they don't
- 39:57think like, well, how is that possible?
- 39:59Since when you start breaking things down, the body's trying
- 40:02to fix it and you've got something that's abnormal in the
- 40:04cell, it's going to create a problem.
- 40:07And you're going to have some issues with inflammation,
- 40:11secondary complications and all the white cells.
- 40:15So man, thank you again. I appreciate you.
- 40:17Like I said, you, you, you, you, you, you, was you.
- 40:20Another layer of the conversation as we begin to go
- 40:22out in the community and have these talks so they can pay.
- 40:26I told you if they understood the cell breakdown and the
- 40:29diffusing and how the like, like when you told me the other day,
- 40:32oh, the, the mast cells, they, they're also in the bone marrow.
- 40:35They come out premature. And I'm like, wait, wait, wait.
- 40:37What? How are the, Yeah, how are the
- 40:39red cells and the white cells coming out of the same?
- 40:41And then one is 1 is the red cells come out mature and the
- 40:45white cells, I'm like, bro, you, you, you're killing me.
- 40:47But I know that it's an important conversation.
- 40:50Yeah, there's coming from the stem cells.
- 40:54So the stem cells in the master like the master controller.
- 40:57So. That and that kind of dictates
- 40:59what cells are going to become what.
- 41:02But yeah, the only thing I say about the white cells, they they
- 41:05have great intentions. Sometimes the.
- 41:07Intentions can be too much. Exactly exactly.
- 41:11Especially in sickle cell. When I found my buddy, I think
- 41:14his white cell count was like 27,000.
- 41:17I mean, he was in a serious crisis in his body.
- 41:20So but Doctor Dadney, thank you so much.
- 41:22I got a couple more to bring up here, man, but you're going to
- 41:24be a part of the discussion shortly.
- 41:25So OK, great. Don't go, don't go nowhere,
- 41:27don't go nowhere. All right, so this family right
- 41:30here up in the know, we call it the know up there.
- 41:33I met this family 2014 working on a website with these two
- 41:38gentlemen and and they were like, you know, you know, what
- 41:41are you doing talking about my website and stuff, But I'm my
- 41:43advocacy working. I'm, I'm, I'm only a couple
- 41:45years, you know, into it. And I was looking for one of the
- 41:48things we were talking about. There was no one doing mobile
- 41:51testing. No one was doing sickle cell
- 41:53trade. They were doing mammograms and
- 41:55AIDS testing mobile units, but there was nothing we could find
- 41:58that there was doing sickle cell trade testing mobilely.
- 42:01And so he was like, you know what, man, wait a minute.
- 42:03I know this family out there in, in Palm Desert somewhere and
- 42:07they got a storefront in the lab and blah, blah, blah.
- 42:09I was like, man, put him on the phone right now.
- 42:12And so he put me in communication with Raimondo.
- 42:15And I can say this is 2014. We have not lost communication
- 42:18since 2014. We have worked together.
- 42:20He was a board member. We've done mobile testing in the
- 42:23community. We're still at it.
- 42:27And so I have his wife who is a part of the work that he does as
- 42:31well. And so I'm going to bring her up
- 42:33on the deck to have a conversation with us because
- 42:36she's going to be talking about some of this holistic stuff.
- 42:39So Peter, how you doing? Hello.
- 42:42Hello, Caron. How are you?
- 42:43How is everybody? I'm good, thank you.
- 42:46Thank you for stepping in and and having this conversation
- 42:49with us. Lupita has been nothing less
- 42:53than a blessing for me because as I went on this journey to go
- 42:56to Nigeria in December, 1 of my biggest concerns was my
- 43:02inflammation in the shots and the vaccines and just trying to
- 43:05be healthy as possible in my travels.
- 43:08And I have been dancing around with the, with the supplements
- 43:10and everything for a few years. And honestly, I take them and
- 43:15then some days I don't take them.
- 43:16Maybe like a month go by, then I get back on them.
- 43:18And then, and then, but I came to her with, with the sense of
- 43:21urgency because I was, I'm scared because of the vaccines
- 43:25and I had AI believe I had a COVID reactions.
- 43:27You know, I can't document say that, but my views, I had a
- 43:30COVID reaction from the Johnson and Johnson.
- 43:32So I'm, I'm leery about vaccines.
- 43:35And I came to her and she was like, OK, well, you know, Doctor
- 43:39Sabie what his conversation was about and like, yeah, so
- 43:41information. Yeah.
- 43:42OK, then you got to clean up. But you got to clean out your
- 43:44system. And I'm like, all right, all
- 43:46right, let me let me lock in and clear.
- 43:48And I can only tell y'all by switching to the liquids from
- 43:56day one when I when I took the CC four and she was like, it's
- 43:59going to take about 8 to 12 hours.
- 44:01But when it kick in and but you going, it's going to be going to
- 44:03get the parasites. It's going to do some work on
- 44:05you. And I was like, oh God, no
- 44:08kidding. My testimony is that not only
- 44:11have I worked on my, my physical health, my spiritual health, my
- 44:17emotional health, but clarity I got not only did I, not only did
- 44:25I lose about 10 lbs of waste weight, I want to say cuz I was
- 44:29like 18080. I was like 188.
- 44:31And then I went to the doctor to get those vaccine.
- 44:34They was like, yo, you 179. I'm like 179.
- 44:37But I'm like, oh, but that was that all that waste.
- 44:40That's tip ice cube says coming out the bathroom about 10 lbs
- 44:42lighter. And I'm kidding you about about
- 44:4410 lbs lighter. And I equate that.
- 44:47But the clarity that I got also, Lupita, can you, can you talk
- 44:52about that part of it before we get in?
- 44:54Because I want to say our conversation for the panel
- 44:56discussion, but overall with the, with the supplements and
- 45:00the compound, can you touch on that?
- 45:03Because I, I'm literally, it literally helped my emotional
- 45:06state and I understand that. And we know that that some
- 45:10foods, the toxins, all that because we're cells and
- 45:13chemicals that those could throw off your even mental capacity.
- 45:16And I believe I got some clarity in life, not from just detoxing
- 45:20for the parasites and stuff, but I was able to start to be OK
- 45:26with my emotional health, mental health.
- 45:29Can you is that? Is that true?
- 45:31Yes it is true. My my name is Lupita Martinez
- 45:35and I am the founder and CEO of Botanica Herbal Company.
- 45:41We are in Fresno, CA and I had the privilege of meeting Doctor
- 45:47Savior around 2000 and I was very privileged and blessed to
- 45:53meet him and get trained and with the herbs, the products
- 45:59that he created in the 70s eighties to help people reverse
- 46:05different kind of health issues. And I, I was blessed to meet
- 46:12Paron and around 2014 he was not coming to meet me.
- 46:16He was coming to meet my husband.
- 46:19But I was there and I was part of the package.
- 46:22I was part of the nothing. So you start taking the products
- 46:28and you know, he here and there on and off the herbs and stuff
- 46:33like that. But it was like what, two years
- 46:36ago, one year ago when we switched from the capsules to
- 46:42the tonics and the tonics work better because they work faster
- 46:47and they is is different kind of tonics for different things.
- 46:52But one of the tonics that Pharon was taking to prepare him
- 46:58for this trip, it was the CC four, that is, that helps to
- 47:05remove parasites, mucus, toxins that the body has accumulated
- 47:11from eating from the air that we breathe from everything and
- 47:16accumulates in the body. So this tonic goes there in your
- 47:21head and your toes and every. Tissue in your body.
- 47:24Just removes everything. Sometimes people say, you know,
- 47:30oh, but I go to the bathroom every day.
- 47:32I don't need them, but you'll be surprised how how these amazing
- 47:38herb and and when we created in these formula, it goes in their
- 47:46body and removes everything and and it helps the body, the
- 47:51organs to perform better. And also because of all the
- 47:57toxins, the mucus, the parasites that comes out, it help us to
- 48:03see better not only statistically, but also clear,
- 48:09make better decisions and feel better.
- 48:13And this is, this is what this one of these compounds do you
- 48:20know. And, and we've been working with
- 48:22our own again, with other many people.
- 48:25We, we send products. We, we have blessed, we are
- 48:29blessed to have sent products to Australia too, friends to other
- 48:34parts of the world because of what these herbs do.
- 48:39And, and, and our biggest, my biggest testimony before my own
- 48:42personal was Alan, Alan, I'm we when I, when I met young 14 and
- 48:47then Alan had came from Atlanta to California.
- 48:49He was in a crisis. I think he went back home
- 48:52because it was a crisis so bad. Then he tried to come back to
- 48:54California because he was doing this event and he got another
- 48:57crisis and, and he was on my talk show at the, at the time.
- 49:01And so he was like, man, I'm, I'm like, I'm, I'm in a bad, I'm
- 49:04in bad shape. And so I was like, well, you
- 49:06know what? I, I did an interview with
- 49:09Doctor Savey and then I know some people who actually doing
- 49:12some work with the sun compound. And he was like, please
- 49:14introduce me to them. And so we drove, we got video
- 49:17where we drove out to Palm Desert and you helped out Alan.
- 49:22And to this day, he's now in Brazil hanging out and he, he,
- 49:27he, he says that I haven't had a crisis since that year he was on
- 49:33that compound. And he has sickle beta
- 49:35thalassemia. He changed, but he did the whole
- 49:39thing. He changed his diet.
- 49:40I mean, to this day, he never went back to the old diet.
- 49:44So he has he, he says, I haven't had any crisis since that
- 49:49relationship, that of the introduction with you Lupita.
- 49:52And so that's that's where we are with that so.
- 49:57Yes. And for Alan we what we gave him
- 50:00again, it was the product to to detox him, to remove all these
- 50:05things from the body. But also it was the Oxyhemo, it
- 50:08was to build up his blood blood cell, the red blood cells to
- 50:13help him. And at that time when you
- 50:15brought him to us, what he said he was, he was in the hospital
- 50:21once a month for a few days at a time.
- 50:24And after him taking more than anything the Oxyhemo 1 bottle of
- 50:30Oxyhemo a day, that's when he was able to see the results and
- 50:35made the decision of changing his eating habits, the whole
- 50:38lifestyle. And I don't think he's taking
- 50:42any of the products right now, but that is what it make him see
- 50:48different and, and, and changed his whole lifestyle.
- 50:52Yeah, thank you. The pizza.
- 50:53I'm going to bring up the doc real quick and then we're going
- 50:56to bring everybody up on the deck and have a conversation.
- 50:58Thank you for being here again today and sharing with us.
- 51:02All right, ladies and gentlemen, the one and only the trade
- 51:06doctor. Y'all ready for the trade doctor
- 51:08we have? I think it's, I think we're in
- 51:10our 16 years for me, probably about 13 or 14 years.
- 51:15I met Doctor Myesha and just by meeting her and having
- 51:19conversations with her, she was been on the show all these years
- 51:22and I'm like, we needed, the trade community needs a doctor.
- 51:25We need a doctor and there's who's believing us with these
- 51:29trade complications, Who's listening to us with these trade
- 51:32conversations. So I'm like, can you, can you
- 51:34take on, can you be the trade doctor?
- 51:36Can you take on that label? I didn't mean to put that much
- 51:38pressure on her, but you know, at that, it took her a while.
- 51:42It took a while, but I kept I kept pronouncing her as the
- 51:46trait Dr. and. And here she is today, finally
- 51:52embracing with us in this conversation full force is
- 51:56Doctor Maisha as the trait Dr. How you doing, lady?
- 52:00Oh man, you know whenever you do something great, a lot of stuff
- 52:05tries to get in your way. I swear I normally finish clinic
- 52:08no later than 5:30. Why did I finish at 6:45 today?
- 52:12Oh man. I mean, the last patient left at
- 52:156:35 and I'm running, running to try to get to this show.
- 52:20And you know, it's amazing because the last patient I
- 52:23suspect trait avascular necrosis, blood in the urine, no
- 52:29answers that. Sound like SC?
- 52:31Doctors and studies that. Sound like SC?
- 52:35I'm just like, I'm like, wow, this is my why.
- 52:39This is why I'm racing to get to WKC Radio and do this show and
- 52:43be on this panel and then I'm listening as we introduce like
- 52:47our family has. Grown we have.
- 52:49Yeah. Oh yeah.
- 52:51I listen to Lupita like my. Twins, how you been you?
- 52:57Know I'm just, I'm on the East, she's on the West.
- 53:00It's time. You know it's time.
- 53:01You're a good doctor is now set up to take care of trait
- 53:06patients. We are fully licensed in like 15
- 53:10states. You're now our official health
- 53:14coach. We.
- 53:15Are. Yeah, yeah.
- 53:16So like, we are ready. I'm listening to Doctor Dabney.
- 53:20Like where have you been? Exactly, exactly.
- 53:23She's. So much, you know, and I'm
- 53:26watching all the stuff she's doing, but I'm like catching
- 53:29balls, constantly trying. To set.
- 53:31Up and still, you know, survive. You know, I want to make sure I
- 53:35mentioned we now have no charge consults like we have sickle
- 53:38cell trait consults. There's no risk.
- 53:41Just set up a visit. You know, even if you don't
- 53:45become part of the clinic, even just one visit, you're going to
- 53:48benefit. So I don't want to forget to say
- 53:51that because I always forget that kind of stuff.
- 53:53So we're going to put that information up.
- 53:54We're going to put that information up.
- 53:57But I'm, I'm, you know, times are changing.
- 54:01My confidence has grown. We talk about the mental health
- 54:04aspect. This was not accepted.
- 54:07It wasn't accepted in the medical community 15 years ago,
- 54:13right? If you try to say trait was the
- 54:16cause of anything, you will be labeled.
- 54:19We had to do this work quietly. Now John Hopkins researcher Dr.
- 54:24Nait just put out the the paper last year that sickle cell trait
- 54:30is an independent risk factor. Just trait.
- 54:34Not SCSDS. No, AS trait the trait, just the
- 54:39trait for end stage renal disease.
- 54:42Miss Richie, who's A50? Year nurse. 40 years of being a
- 54:47nurse and then her own son being sick and going away from here to
- 54:52the other side told you about renal medullated carcinoma.
- 54:56So now to me, how can we say that it's benign?
- 55:00If. You can end up on dialysis just
- 55:02because of it. And now there's proof like you
- 55:06can't dispute it. They've been trying to prove
- 55:08that it's phenom. But I want to make sure I
- 55:10mentioned and I know I'm supposed to be introducing
- 55:12myself and introducing. You good, you good, you good,
- 55:14but. I just really, I got excited
- 55:16listening to everybody. I really want to mention that
- 55:19it's not to make you afraid. Yeah, between we have, I have
- 55:25been actually taking care of trade patients.
- 55:28I have one patient that he couldn't do the mile run without
- 55:34vomiting and now he's the head of his ROTC.
- 55:39He's the head of his ROTC. He's on his regiment.
- 55:43I, I step by step, I can get you to the point where you can still
- 55:47still play your sports, but not getting help is as crazy as an
- 55:51asthmatic saying I don't want to take my asthma pump because I
- 55:55don't want anybody to think I'm weak or diabetics saying I'm not
- 55:58going to take my medicine. Whatever it is, whether you're
- 56:00going with the the Berberine herbs, whether you're going with
- 56:04the with the, with the all the natural supplements, or whether
- 56:11you're going with the metformin and the GOP ones.
- 56:14And I even can help you with natural GOP one, getting your
- 56:17natural GOP1UP without that risk.
- 56:20You know what, whichever route you're going, you know, it'll be
- 56:23like saying I'm not going to take I'm just going to let
- 56:25myself go into a diabetic coma because I don't want anybody
- 56:29think I'm weak. So if you have trait or you may
- 56:32even think you may be possibly have a whip of having trait
- 56:36Holler talk to us. You know, I'm I'm doing it.
- 56:41Doctor Dabney is seeing. Patients I was like, he's.
- 56:44Doing what we're doing. Yeah, yeah, all.
- 56:47Over the world, patients in in, in Ethiopia, patients in
- 56:52Senegal, wherever you are, Spain, we can see the
- 56:55international patients over there, it's different.
- 56:58They can go to the pharmacy. They don't necessarily have to
- 57:01have a prescription. Right.
- 57:04You know, I have, I just helped a lady, you know, she was so
- 57:08sick and, and we were able to do it from key, you know, so, and
- 57:14we're primary care. We do everything primary care.
- 57:16We do all the supplements but. This is why.
- 57:19This is why. This.
- 57:21This. Is why you want hurt.
- 57:22You got hurt. This is why Doctor Doctor Maisha
- 57:26has been such a key factor in US developing our conversations
- 57:30because again, like she said, 16 years ago when I came on a trade
- 57:34scene, there was that was very little sickle cell trade
- 57:36conversations, even here in California.
- 57:39And to be able to take that on to be a yes in the room full of
- 57:42Nos to fight for my experience and then sharing my story and my
- 57:46testimony and then to find her and Doctor Austin, Dr. Austin
- 57:50was the reason her research. And I'm like, you are my Angel
- 57:52because now I got another ally who's it makes sense.
- 57:56And so just again, and you're going to meet these people who
- 57:59are parts of this puzzle that we're putting together to work
- 58:03together individually and Sep and and together.
- 58:05But these are the people as I share my conversation as the
- 58:09aspects of sickle cell trade. So let's just get, let's bring
- 58:14them up so we can get this conversation.
- 58:15Yeah. Let's get.
- 58:16It started. I'm I just the?
- 58:18Family. So let me, let me, let me, let
- 58:20me with you first. So before I bring them up, why
- 58:22we're even here now, quality of life versus a cure is not a new
- 58:26conversation for us. We was doing this at La Talk
- 58:28Live in 2015, 2016. We were talking about quality of
- 58:32life because there was so much going on in the sickle cell
- 58:35community and living it. And for me, living in the future
- 58:40of uncertainty from my experience of anxiety, if I'm
- 58:44living that far out into the cure for whatever or my own
- 58:47sickle cell trade advocacy work, my my experience of myself today
- 58:51is anxious. So if I'm having anxiety today
- 58:55because I'm looking to see where they are with the cure, my
- 58:58quality of life right now could be suffering emotionally and
- 59:02then physically and all the other.
- 59:04And we know that's in our sickle cell community, stress is a
- 59:06trigger as well that could cause complication.
- 59:09So if we know that, then how can we not have a conversation to
- 59:14say how do we improve your quality of life while we look
- 59:18for this cure? So it's quality of life versus a
- 59:20cure. And neither it's not right or
- 59:23wrong, good or bad, but I want people in 2026 from our
- 59:27conversation, find out where you are in your self-awareness.
- 59:31Are you in the stands of life waiting and hoping and for, for,
- 59:35for a cure, But you're watching this game of life and you're
- 59:39suffering in the stands. Or are you on the bench of life
- 59:42waiting to get put in the game with a conversation that can
- 59:44help us move this conversation forward with some middle
- 59:46toughness or some middle whatever.
- 59:47And, and, but you're still not there yet to be on the court
- 59:50with us. Or are you going to come and
- 59:52hang out with us and get on the court and take these shots and
- 59:55have these conversations and Share your story, help educate
- 59:58these doctors and nurses and all the people who need your
- 1:00:01information, your testimony. We want you on the court with
- 1:00:04us. But guess what?
- 1:00:05It's OK if you want to sit in the stands.
- 1:00:07Just be aware that when you talk, you're in the stands.
- 1:00:10Be aware that when you talk, you're on the bench and this.
- 1:00:14If you want to get on the court and, and be on the on the panel,
- 1:00:17you want to be in the community in conversations, you want to be
- 1:00:19you want to find that confidence to Share your story.
- 1:00:22I, I hear people. Oh, well, I got, I went to the
- 1:00:25doctor and they asked me how long I've been living with
- 1:00:27sickle cell. I was so upset.
- 1:00:29That's your opportunity to educate that doctor.
- 1:00:31If that's, if that nurse asked you a question like that and
- 1:00:33they don't truly know, then why are you mad with the nurse for
- 1:00:37the question? Answer the question and then
- 1:00:39educate them on that information.
- 1:00:40But people are, we're so offended by our by, by what
- 1:00:45people say about us, about our community, that we can't even
- 1:00:49help move the conversation forward.
- 1:00:50So quality of life versus a cure, Doctor Maicha, what does
- 1:00:54that mean to you? When when you hear quality of
- 1:00:56life versus a cure. So first of all, I want to say
- 1:01:00it's really to me it's not a either or.
- 1:01:02I'm, I'm a person that tends never to subscribe to either or
- 1:01:06axiology, black or white abstract, a non abstract super
- 1:01:09country, concrete thinking. I see everything in shades of
- 1:01:14colors and spectrums. And you know, how can we make
- 1:01:18the different pieces? What can we do with this color
- 1:01:20palette that we've had? Black has a purpose, white has a
- 1:01:24purpose. Every color on that spectrum,
- 1:01:27pink, blue, red, green, we need all of it.
- 1:01:30You know, God put it all here for a reason.
- 1:01:32So I don't believe we want to choose between the two.
- 1:01:35To me, we need to have a path where we have a a cure that
- 1:01:42we're working on and we still work every day to have a better
- 1:01:46quality of life. Each time when I'm working with
- 1:01:50a patient on trait, I'm looking how can I impact your life right
- 1:01:56now? What's I I always give patients,
- 1:02:00this is one of my tricks. I get them one thing.
- 1:02:03I want you to do this one thing. See me back in two to four weeks
- 1:02:09when I know you've been to this one thing.
- 1:02:12Now we're going to add 2 and 3:00 and 4:00 until you have a
- 1:02:17new normal and it happens. So simple, you know, I mean,
- 1:02:21they're going to give something or take something.
- 1:02:23Sometimes I'll give two things because I'll give and take if I
- 1:02:27take if I take something. Oh.
- 1:02:29My God, when I take. This pork?
- 1:02:30Oh my. God, you see that place?
- 1:02:31I'll. Take the pork.
- 1:02:34Do you understand that pigs don't sweat and you're eating
- 1:02:36toxins? And I couldn't say that 20 years
- 1:02:40ago. Now all the research is there
- 1:02:42that pork worsens every those white cells.
- 1:02:44He was talking about that mast cell production.
- 1:02:47I was aware of that mast cell disease 20 years ago and it's
- 1:02:51all part of the puzzle, right? How can you have this problem
- 1:02:55with your red blood cells and the fighters?
- 1:02:57It would be like saying somebody took a shot at the house and no
- 1:03:00fighters came out. You at war, somebody took a shot
- 1:03:04at the base and the fighters, of course the fighters came out.
- 1:03:07And just like he said, fighters over, yet they just start
- 1:03:10shooting. So part of getting that.
- 1:03:12Quality of life is calm down. The fuck?
- 1:03:15Calm down, fighters. It, it was just a rock.
- 1:03:18It wasn't on purpose. Let's see, how can we?
- 1:03:21And that's part of the issue with sickle cell trait, because
- 1:03:25you have one healthy gene, you have an hemoglobin A Ostensibly
- 1:03:30you may, may not, but ostensibly you have one.
- 1:03:34You have the opportunity to have some healthy red cells.
- 1:03:38How do we increase their functionality right away?
- 1:03:44And that's going to promote cure, that's going to promote
- 1:03:48quality of life all at the same time.
- 1:03:50When it comes to the cure, with the bone marrow transplants and
- 1:03:53with the new gene therapy that they're doing, my take is
- 1:03:58everybody has to decide for themselves.
- 1:04:01I can't tell somebody you're wrong to get the gene change.
- 1:04:07If I was SSI, don't know what decision I would make.
- 1:04:12I certainly would expect that it would depend on how severe my
- 1:04:16life experience has been. You know, because The thing is,
- 1:04:20you have something called jumping jeans.
- 1:04:24Jumping jeans. So you go in, you do the CRISPR,
- 1:04:28you cut the gene out or put the gene in, but you don't know what
- 1:04:31the jumping jeans are going to do.
- 1:04:35You mess with jeans. Jeans are the master code.
- 1:04:39We didn't create it, right? You mess with genes, you fix one
- 1:04:43thing, you break something else. But if you are in excruciating
- 1:04:46pain every single day of your life and nothing works, Oh yeah,
- 1:04:52you're going to take that chance.
- 1:04:53Jump. I don't care about jumping
- 1:04:54genes. Try it.
- 1:04:57It can't be worse than what I'm experiencing now.
- 1:05:01And that's what it means to me. Quality of life versus cure.
- 1:05:04Some of these cures are worse than the disease.
- 1:05:07I've been getting so many people off of the statins right,
- 1:05:10because we have the whole rhabdo conversation.
- 1:05:13Statins, it worsen rhabdo. They cause peripheral A
- 1:05:16neuropathy. They can even make you have
- 1:05:18diabetes when you didn't have it.
- 1:05:20At the same time, they can keep you from having a heart attack.
- 1:05:23It's always a balance. Nothing's pure good, pure bad.
- 1:05:27Only God is pure good. Everything else is a shade of
- 1:05:30grey. So when you talk about quality
- 1:05:32of life versus cure, I'm going to yes.
- 1:05:37I'm going to work. You as an individual, how can we
- 1:05:40make you feel better and do that thing that's going to give you
- 1:05:45what you need right now to alleviate the stress and the
- 1:05:48comfort and help you know that more help is coming I'm just.
- 1:05:52More help, More help is coming. More help is coming.
- 1:05:56More help is here. Where we where we at?
- 1:05:59Doctor Dabney, I'm so honored to meet.
- 1:06:03You. Yeah, I've been following you
- 1:06:04for a while. It's got a chance to.
- 1:06:06Meet you. No, not like that.
- 1:06:08I ain't stalking you. No, not like no, I don't know.
- 1:06:12We, we have a, we have a lot of the same philosophies and you
- 1:06:16were trying to figure out what, what, what we could do to help
- 1:06:20with the hemoglobin phenol. Hemoglobin is what I'm really
- 1:06:23looking at. I wasn't sure, maybe you guys
- 1:06:27are aware or not. That's what we're here for is
- 1:06:30that you could use a vitamin D as a means to help boost the
- 1:06:36fetal hemoglobin. I mean, vitamin D does a lot
- 1:06:38more than just bones and teeth. It does a, it does a lot, a lot
- 1:06:42of other different things, turning genes off and on,
- 1:06:45modulating the immune system, especially if you're going
- 1:06:48through a crisis. We know that most people who
- 1:06:52have a are in a crisis. They've done some studies that a
- 1:06:56lot of them are vitamin D deficient and once they get
- 1:07:01their vitamin D levels up, they're their crisis decrease.
- 1:07:06Yes. When they're not getting rid of
- 1:07:08them per SE, but they're they're modulating the immune system.
- 1:07:10If you can keep your vitamin D levels into.
- 1:07:12Place. Quality of life versus cure.
- 1:07:14You and I have both. I have been so right now, and
- 1:07:19this is like all different diseases trait and everything
- 1:07:22else. If you have enough melanin to go
- 1:07:25in the sun without sunscreen from the elbow down right and
- 1:07:30your leg from the knee down and your face and you're melanated,
- 1:07:3430 to 45 minutes a day is all you need to get 10,000 to
- 1:07:3924,000. I use a vitamin D and you will
- 1:07:43feel better. I have some people safely doing
- 1:07:47the vitamin D and it's helping with the aching of the bones
- 1:07:50that comes with trait or disease.
- 1:07:53But what time of the day is that?
- 1:07:55But. What time you're?
- 1:07:56Going to go before you're going to go, so before 11.
- 1:07:59AM and after 2:00 PM to avoid the UV radiation.
- 1:08:03OK, so before 11 AM you can hang.
- 1:08:06Out in the sun before 11 AM depend on time of the.
- 1:08:11Year so 11:11 AM before. 11. AM and after 2:00 PM is the best
- 1:08:15time to be in the sun to get the roughly depending on where you
- 1:08:18are and you. You don't want to go when the
- 1:08:21sun is at right above your head at its hottest, right?
- 1:08:24That makes sense. That's when you're going.
- 1:08:26To get the most DNA transformation.
- 1:08:28Etcetera And for ethnic people, you're looking at the palms and
- 1:08:33the souls if you're going to look for that Melanoma.
- 1:08:36So keep an eye on your palms. And your life is a balance, you
- 1:08:41know, you, you, you. You don't want to go on the sun.
- 1:08:43Like nobody wants to go on the sun anymore because they're
- 1:08:45afraid of skin cancer, Melanoma, etcetera.
- 1:08:48But nobody in their family has ever had Melanoma.
- 1:08:53And two generations ago, they stayed in the sun.
- 1:08:55Why are you worrying? About Melanoma, right, right.
- 1:08:58But then you want to you want to smather.
- 1:08:59Sunscreen. Right.
- 1:09:02And and now you're putting cancerous.
- 1:09:03Benzines on your. Skin.
- 1:09:04Yeah. So let me Doctor Myson.
- 1:09:06Dr. Myson, let me go. Around the deck I want.
- 1:09:08To ask you what you go do, I want to ask each each each.
- 1:09:11Person. Miss Richie, Miss Richie, when
- 1:09:15you hear quality of life versus a cure, what comes to your mind
- 1:09:18when you hear that, that comment, that conversation, what
- 1:09:22comes to my mind is. Whether I should take?
- 1:09:27Chemotherapy or. Not, you know.
- 1:09:32Is. It going to make a difference.
- 1:09:35In my survival rate and so. Or should.
- 1:09:40I choose to. Have a quality of life and just
- 1:09:43live what I have left. Good quality.
- 1:09:48Thank you, thank you, thank you. Got me chills with that one,
- 1:09:51Lupita. That's why we love her, man.
- 1:09:53That is why I'm. Telling you, Lupita.
- 1:09:56Quality of life versus a cure. What do you, what do you hear in
- 1:09:59that in that statement? Quality of life.
- 1:10:04Quality of life, for me, it is having a choice of going more
- 1:10:11natural, going more into what are ancestors we're taking for
- 1:10:18daily life, daily food like Doctor Maisha say, going out,
- 1:10:25getting more sun, being out there out of the house more and
- 1:10:31being more exposed to nature and that.
- 1:10:36Curious side of that because you you you in this.
- 1:10:38World of of of Doctor Sabi's you know his his proof of work and
- 1:10:42and and the things that he discovered how to how to how do
- 1:10:45you language that cure conversation in your work if at
- 1:10:48all well-being be more in. Nature and getting to.
- 1:10:52Know more Your, your, your, the herbs that God put out there for
- 1:10:58us to consume every day. Every earth that is out there in
- 1:11:02nature, it has something to offer us and if we just stay
- 1:11:07inside the house and not go out, we will not know all these
- 1:11:13amazing gifts, blessings that God put in each of these herbs
- 1:11:19for our own benefit. Like, you know, it is one
- 1:11:22passage in the in the Bible, it says God created all the earth
- 1:11:27for to heal the nation. So what else can we discuss?
- 1:11:32What else you know, is out there?
- 1:11:35So we need to get more out there, get get out of the house,
- 1:11:39be more nature, get to know your herbs, plant your herbs and and
- 1:11:46and fruit and vegetables and eat them.
- 1:11:50Don't wait to go to the store for for those those.
- 1:11:55Herbs. Those.
- 1:11:57Vegetables and fruit that you want to consume every day, and
- 1:11:59they're full of toxins and chemicals.
- 1:12:03So we have more in nature. Thank you.
- 1:12:06Thank you and Doctor Daphne. When you hear this in your world
- 1:12:11of of listening, what is what is quality of?
- 1:12:14Life versus a cure. For you, what is that?
- 1:12:16Well, I, I think it from, from my angle is looking at it from
- 1:12:20a, the quality of life, you know, trying to find a balance,
- 1:12:23trying to, trying to make things the best of what you have and
- 1:12:27try to find a balance. The cure part is kind of hard.
- 1:12:32And I know this is kind of out of out of term because we're
- 1:12:34talking about you're good. The thing is with, with like I
- 1:12:37work with a lot of cancer patients and you know, a lot of
- 1:12:41time when they come to see me, very rarely they're at stage 2.
- 1:12:46They're usually stage 3 or 4 or something like that.
- 1:12:49So I get them on the path. I work with the doctors.
- 1:12:53They you know, they have surgery.
- 1:12:55Or they have. Chemo, whatever, and you get
- 1:12:58them back to where they're, you know, before the cancer came
- 1:13:01about, they're technically. They're technically cured.
- 1:13:07Supposedly cured but five years they come back and says did you
- 1:13:12stay on the plan well no so they they they they forget they
- 1:13:17forget how they got to where they are so I'm thinking like
- 1:13:21well we had you under control they just forgot so having.
- 1:13:26The cure? It's a little bit different than
- 1:13:29having. The the the knowledge.
- 1:13:30Prior to the sickness, like I developed a health plan for
- 1:13:35them. I mean, I'm pretty much giving
- 1:13:37them information on a silver platter.
- 1:13:39And a lot of the times they they, they forget the cancer is
- 1:13:43cured. They.
- 1:13:44Go. Back to the same same problem in
- 1:13:48life. Now you're back to where you
- 1:13:52start, so I'm. Kind of like you have to give
- 1:13:55them information you. Have to give them tools.
- 1:13:57Hopefully they'll be able to to use.
- 1:14:00Yeah, thank you. Thank you.
- 1:14:01All and in my version for the. Record quality of life versus
- 1:14:04secure today, again, it's, it's having the ability more for me
- 1:14:09emotionally quality of life versus secure.
- 1:14:12Because if, if I could get my heart posture at a level of
- 1:14:16peace in the midst in the midst of the storm, I got it to say
- 1:14:19what my storm is. And if my storm is arthritis,
- 1:14:22then I need to acknowledge the arthritis and the inflammation
- 1:14:25and then find my piece in that. And like you say, then get the
- 1:14:28information so that I can go and figure out how can I make,
- 1:14:31because there are days that I'm even today like I'm, I'm on this
- 1:14:34regiment with Lupita, but the, the already damaged that's in my
- 1:14:38body. I've got to be OK with that
- 1:14:40because that pain may never go away.
- 1:14:42So yes, I feel great. I'm living life, I'm loving it,
- 1:14:45but there are, I'm still in pain, you know, and I have to
- 1:14:48acknowledge that part of my life.
- 1:14:50So who am I going to be without the sickle?
- 1:14:53Cell trade pain? I don't know.
- 1:14:54I don't want to. It's already, I'm already
- 1:14:56dealing with an identity crisis. So if I can accept what God has
- 1:15:00given me as the trait to deliver this message and use that that
- 1:15:04and I know that that affliction because I don't think anyone
- 1:15:07escapes the affliction. So if I understand that I was
- 1:15:09born with this sickle cell trait and that I can deliver this
- 1:15:13message and I'm also going to go through all the pain and all the
- 1:15:17things that come with it as a testimonial man, you still
- 1:15:20believe in God and you got the trait.
- 1:15:21You went through all that, yes. So if I can manage that
- 1:15:25emotionally, then my cure is whatever y'all.
- 1:15:29If y'all find something for the sickle cell trait that works
- 1:15:31other than hydration, then let me know.
- 1:15:33But today I'm OK and I'm not living.
- 1:15:36I live into the future of uncertainty for Faron and if I'm
- 1:15:39living into that cure way out there and they teasing me with
- 1:15:44it or they saying what's coming soon, then I'm I'm anxious right
- 1:15:47now. I'm depressed because of my
- 1:15:49past, like I'm so emotionally challenged.
- 1:15:53I might even be alive for the time by the time I cure.
- 1:15:55Comes here. Because I've already hurt myself
- 1:15:57emotionally, which also takes on our physicality, right?
- 1:16:01And so when I understood that it's like, OK, quality of life
- 1:16:03versus secure, Let me have the quality of let me have, if I'm
- 1:16:08good today, I can go to the gym and shoot some baskets today.
- 1:16:11Hey, I'm good today. And if I get up in the morning
- 1:16:13and I'm in pain because I shot basketball yesterday, they guess
- 1:16:16what, I'm cool still because at least my heart is like, well,
- 1:16:19you did go to the gym. So because that internal
- 1:16:22dialogue, that emotional piece, that internal.
- 1:16:25Dialogue will tell. You, well, you better not do
- 1:16:28that because you know what happened five years ago when you
- 1:16:30went to the doctor and they said this?
- 1:16:32And so now I might be fine today because I've drank enough water,
- 1:16:36but my past mine, my mind says, I oh, no.
- 1:16:38So quality of life versus secure for me.
- 1:16:41Sometimes our languages are, as Doctor Mahisha pointed out, even
- 1:16:44how I phrased it, she was like, I, I don't know about that
- 1:16:47versus because hey, look, there's a spectrum and I'm like,
- 1:16:50Oh, I didn't even look at it that way, right.
- 1:16:52So now we get to hear even how we describe quality of life
- 1:16:55versus secure. Maybe it's not a versus maybe
- 1:16:58it's who I get to be and manage my mountain.
- 1:17:01What is my what is your mountain?
- 1:17:03Is it sickle cell SC disease? Is it sickle beta thalassemia?
- 1:17:06Is it sickle cell trait? Is the RMC.
- 1:17:08What is that mountain? We don't label, we don't call
- 1:17:11out the mountain when then we suffer in the emotional of the
- 1:17:14what the mountain is about versus actually attacking the
- 1:17:17mountain and saying, OK, look doc, I got sickle cell trait.
- 1:17:21I've had Rabdo I got I live in the pain 7 my inflammation.
- 1:17:26This is my white cell. OK, so then what do I who do I
- 1:17:28need to be and what do I need to do to take on this conversation
- 1:17:32today, as she said. So I pray that people you hear
- 1:17:35something for yourself. Doctor Maisha, you got people
- 1:17:40here. You want to ask them some
- 1:17:41questions. You want to find out some more
- 1:17:43about Doctor Dad because Doctor Dabney right now man, that guy
- 1:17:46right there with the whole white cell conversation and with
- 1:17:50Lupita who can put together herbs that will push out flush
- 1:17:56out those mucins out of the blood like.
- 1:17:59When I sat. Next to Doctor Sabian 2013, like
- 1:18:02next to him and he just, he went from A-Z about life and about
- 1:18:07the herbs. He said, you know what's
- 1:18:09missing, love? He's like 35 years later, my
- 1:18:13friend's mom, we're sitting in her house and she's hearing us
- 1:18:16talk and discuss about all this fight the power that be and all
- 1:18:20the civil rights issues and all that.
- 1:18:21She comes out of her room and she says, I don't know what
- 1:18:23y'all missing over there. They're like what she says love
- 1:18:26is not in the equation. Love.
- 1:18:27He said, he said thirty took him. 35 years later, he realized
- 1:18:32when she said that what was missing in his conversation
- 1:18:35about life was love. I I want to pick up that thread
- 1:18:38right there. Go ahead.
- 1:18:39One of the things so as far as questions for Doctor Dabney and
- 1:18:44and Miss Lupita, like I'm just. My brain is.
- 1:18:48Whirling, right, because we've been hunched down in the lab
- 1:18:52like we have IV fluids now. You can come to our clinic and
- 1:18:57we can give you actual treatment that will help your crisis.
- 1:19:01I've done that now. And you know, one lady that came
- 1:19:06after she came, I got her back on track.
- 1:19:09She had twins, you know, So it's like we're, we, we were in the
- 1:19:15lab, you know, So my head was just buried all this time.
- 1:19:20And then I had had a conversation with Miss Ritchie
- 1:19:23about the educational piece. And I took, I came up, you know,
- 1:19:27you go down under, you swim the whole length of the pool
- 1:19:30underwater. I came up with some air and I
- 1:19:33see Miss Ritchie had a conference and they were
- 1:19:37teaching. And then I can find.
- 1:19:40Her number on my phone, then I was supposed to text for Ron,
- 1:19:43but then a patient text me, you know, So I just can't even
- 1:19:46imagine what their everyone's life has been like.
- 1:19:49And like, there's so much I want to know with doctor, with.
- 1:19:52So with Miss Richie, I want to start with Miss Richie.
- 1:19:55Yeah, I want to say first with Miss Richie, the essential
- 1:20:00component more than anything else that I get from Miss Richie
- 1:20:05was her approach. She didn't come in.
- 1:20:10With the fight, the. Power.
- 1:20:11Rosie Perez. You know, Radio Raheem, she
- 1:20:14didn't come in like that. Her whole journey with Doctor
- 1:20:19Mosul. I don't know if I'm saying this
- 1:20:20name correctly. Doctor Massao.
- 1:20:24Doctor Massao. Was.
- 1:20:27OK. How much?
- 1:20:29Time can you give my son and like she said, without giving
- 1:20:35him something. That's gonna make.
- 1:20:36It not even worth being alive and if she didn't have that
- 1:20:40peaceful presence full of just love.
- 1:20:44I mean, she's losing her. Son from something that everyone
- 1:20:47said is benign and she's a nurse.
- 1:20:51She's dedicated her life to saving people.
- 1:20:55Nightingale, you know the 1st. Nurse.
- 1:20:58Right. You know, she she depicts that
- 1:21:03with grace and dignity and honor.
- 1:21:05And I want us all to take that approach.
- 1:21:09Don't approach our clinicians with you failed me.
- 1:21:13How could you? Yeah.
- 1:21:15Blame does not fix it. The problem is when people are
- 1:21:19in excruciating pain, they're looking for someone to blame.
- 1:21:24And I. Guess I want to say how?
- 1:21:26Would how do we, all of us here now are in the healing
- 1:21:30profession? You know, Fahran is now
- 1:21:34officially a health coach. That means in the in between of
- 1:21:38seeing me when they're in the sickle cell program, they're
- 1:21:41going to be able to communicate directly with Fahran.
- 1:21:43And if there's something medical, he's going to hit it.
- 1:21:45He's going to kick it to me. Like, OK, this is they need to
- 1:21:48know what herb, whatever. But in the meantime, he's going
- 1:21:50to be getting their mind right and make sure they don't leave
- 1:21:53the plan like Doctor Dabney was talking about.
- 1:21:55Yeah, that's that missing piece. You've got to have health
- 1:21:59courses. To be successful because we
- 1:22:01doctors can't do it all, we need the nurses, we need the health
- 1:22:03coaches, we need the herbalist. We work with an herbalist,
- 1:22:06pharmacist, but she doesn't work with sickle cell per SE.
- 1:22:10So I'm just excited to see what me and Lupita are going to do.
- 1:22:13I mean all of us. But I want to ask us all my
- 1:22:17question on the table. I'm sorry I'm so long winded.
- 1:22:18I'm just so excited is how do we help our patients see the love
- 1:22:29side when they're in such pain and distress and they've they've
- 1:22:34suffered the medical apartheid and the PTSD of medicine is
- 1:22:39whooping them right along with the sickle cell and whatever
- 1:22:41other diseases they have too. How do we get them to?
- 1:22:45A better. Place to accept the cure or the
- 1:22:50improvement in quality of life that we're trying to bring
- 1:22:53that's my question I think the important thing is to.
- 1:22:57Provide them with compassion and you have.
- 1:23:02To. I guess establish trust so that
- 1:23:06they will. Know.
- 1:23:08That they can come to you without being put on blast, that
- 1:23:12they can trust you and that their information is in
- 1:23:16confidence. And I've always stressed with
- 1:23:21each individual that even when you're in the Valley, you do
- 1:23:26have two peaks on each side. And when you're in that valley,
- 1:23:30find something good and then you.
- 1:23:35Know you're going to reach. The other side.
- 1:23:39But it's important to not dwell so much on your pain, not dwell
- 1:23:44so much on your disease, because we know you have it.
- 1:23:48How can you tackle it? By changing your emotional, I
- 1:23:56guess aspect of it and just basically hitting it head on,
- 1:24:03you know, so that that's. So important I mean self.
- 1:24:05Pity should not be in the equation.
- 1:24:08Yeah. Thank you.
- 1:24:10Miss Ritchie, anybody going to go next?
- 1:24:12That was beautiful. Yes, thank you.
- 1:24:14That was. Very.
- 1:24:16Good. Anybody.
- 1:24:17Want to go next? Want.
- 1:24:18Me to go. You can go.
- 1:24:21All right, so for me. This this is this is the.
- 1:24:23Work that I had to do personally, which is why I could
- 1:24:26speak from it. You've got to be able to heal
- 1:24:30your past experiences. I believe that when I was able
- 1:24:34to tell the truth to myself, take responsibility for my part
- 1:24:37in that argument or that experience, and take 100%
- 1:24:41responsibility for that relationship working and not
- 1:24:43working, that then there was no more blame to the other person.
- 1:24:47And then it was what? What did I contribute to this?
- 1:24:50And so it's like this If if I if I if I go to Macy's department
- 1:24:56store and I walk in and the person says, hey, how can I help
- 1:25:02you? Do you need some support today?
- 1:25:02You need some help today? No, no, I'm good.
- 1:25:04I'm good. I know where I'm going.
- 1:25:05Cool. OK, cool.
- 1:25:06So I'm walking through Macy's. I'm fine.
- 1:25:08Everything's good. I get to the another aisle and
- 1:25:10someone pops out. Hey, you need some help?
- 1:25:12No, I'm good. I'm good now.
- 1:25:14Depends on where my heart posture is.
- 1:25:16I don't got stopped at the front door and now I'm stopped in this
- 1:25:19second aisle. So now am I going to go to are
- 1:25:22they following me because I'm black or are they helping me
- 1:25:26because I'm in the store? That's and that's their job,
- 1:25:28right? So those are two perspectives
- 1:25:30that I could take. So now I'm I'm continuing on.
- 1:25:32I get to the men's section and I'm looking for some clothes and
- 1:25:34another person pops out and says, Hey, you need some help.
- 1:25:38Now by the third time I'm either going to get frustrated like no,
- 1:25:42I don't need no help. I'm fine because now I'm
- 1:25:44thinking, Oh, they are watching me now because I'm black.
- 1:25:47They trade they've they've seen what I'm doing or I'm like, no
- 1:25:50ma'am, I'm good. Thank you.
- 1:25:52So now I do all that. I go home and I tell my friends,
- 1:25:55man, I went to Macy's today, bro.
- 1:25:58They was following me around the store all day.
- 1:25:59I weighed every go down one hour they pop out over here, tell me
- 1:26:02do I need some help? I go over here to ask me.
- 1:26:03I need some help, man. I think Macy's is racist, man.
- 1:26:06I think Macy's got a problem. They don't like blacks, bro.
- 1:26:08I don't even know. I wouldn't be aware when you go
- 1:26:10to Macy's because they follow me around the store.
- 1:26:12So now guess what my buddy's going to do?
- 1:26:14They're going to go to Macy's to see if they get followed to see
- 1:26:17if the Macy's races. Well, guess what?
- 1:26:19Of course they they will say, oh, how can I help you?
- 1:26:21Oh, how can I help you? Oh yeah, from you was right,
- 1:26:23man, they was racist and Macy's, man, they followed us around the
- 1:26:26whole store. Come on, What did I just do to
- 1:26:28my friends? I just corrupted their
- 1:26:31experience of Macy's when at but Macy's they're that's what
- 1:26:37they're they're they help me to help to help you find your way
- 1:26:39to the store. So when I in that example, it's
- 1:26:43up to us to heal our past experiences.
- 1:26:46And I've been in this community only for 16 years, but I've
- 1:26:49heard so many of my friends say I don't want to go to the doctor
- 1:26:53because they treat me like I'm on drug seeker or I don't want
- 1:26:56to go to the doctor and because they treated me like this the
- 1:26:58last time. And my last point is I had two
- 1:27:02women on my show, on my blog talk show back in the day and I
- 1:27:07bought them on and they were both in the hospital live.
- 1:27:10They're both live in the hospital and we're talking about
- 1:27:15hospital. Experience.
- 1:27:17And guess what, They are going off on my show about the
- 1:27:20hospital experience and all of a sudden my mind says, Ron,
- 1:27:25anything in the hospital? Yeah, ask him how tall the
- 1:27:29treatment is right now. Hold on, ladies, are both y'all
- 1:27:31in the hospital right now? Oh, yeah, we in the hospital
- 1:27:34right now. How's your care right now?
- 1:27:35Oh, it's great. They're taking care of me.
- 1:27:38It's busy. And I was like, so hold on time
- 1:27:40out then. Are we are we are are we
- 1:27:43discussing the hospital visit from when?
- 1:27:45Five years ago? So you're, you're in the
- 1:27:47hospital, right? Now.
- 1:27:49Getting. Perfect care and we're on the
- 1:27:52radio talking about hospital care and how bad it is when you
- 1:27:57are currently in your hospital bed having great care.
- 1:28:01But So what I saw was I go to the hospital, I got 10 visits, 4
- 1:28:07are not good. But the six?
- 1:28:09Were excellent care, but I'm only focused on the four visits
- 1:28:13that were the worst. That does not make sense to me.
- 1:28:17That does not make sense to me. So what I saw?
- 1:28:19For myself. Was that's an emotional fracture
- 1:28:23that I don't want to go to that doctor because the last because
- 1:28:26because the past, because the stuff that I'm carrying from the
- 1:28:30past is now depicting. If I want to go this time, how
- 1:28:35can I show up to the hospital? Like this is the first time?
- 1:28:37As Miss Richie was saying, we have education, we have
- 1:28:40curriculum that we can sit with you, take you through this
- 1:28:44process and guess what you get to do?
- 1:28:46You put the past out of the future back into the.
- 1:28:50Past and now. Your next visit to the hospital
- 1:28:53is like your first visit, but we don't realize that we can
- 1:28:56actually do that work to heal our heart posture.
- 1:29:00And now I'm going to show up like it's the first time.
- 1:29:03This is the first time, right? If it's not the first time, but
- 1:29:06you can show up like it's the first time emotionally, right?
- 1:29:10And, and to me, that's the biggest piece for the work that
- 1:29:14I want to contribute to this conversation because if we tell
- 1:29:19the truth. We tell the.
- 1:29:21Truth. A lot of us live in the future
- 1:29:25of I don't never want to feel that again.
- 1:29:26I don't never want to experience that again.
- 1:29:28And with our sickle cell community directly, you don't
- 1:29:32know if that's going to be that final crisis.
- 1:29:34We, we hear people say I'm going to wait.
- 1:29:36I'm, I'm, I'm just, I'm going to, I know I should go to the
- 1:29:39doctor, but I'm going to wait till the last minute.
- 1:29:41But we, you don't know what you're doing to your body, wait
- 1:29:44till the last minute all because they treated you crazy five
- 1:29:48years ago. So.
- 1:29:52For me that's. That's got to be at the
- 1:29:54foundation of our conversation is how do I be, how can I show
- 1:29:58up to this doctor's office with, with confidence as as Miss
- 1:30:03Richard said, trust well before trust because we don't trust
- 1:30:06everybody 100%. So, but how can I give a level
- 1:30:09of confidence to this doctor and this nurse to treat me how I
- 1:30:13show up? If I show up with patience and
- 1:30:16kindness and frustrated or frustrated, then I'm going to,
- 1:30:19I'm going to get what I'm giving.
- 1:30:20That's that fruit. And so I really believe that we
- 1:30:23can have with our community, have a conversation in a form
- 1:30:27or, or one-on-one coaching. How do we, what is your, what is
- 1:30:31your fear about the hospital? My fear at the gym is that if I
- 1:30:36go to the gym, the gym's going to kill me.
- 1:30:39That's how I that's how I looked.
- 1:30:40At the gym because of my collapse.
- 1:30:42With the Rabdo, it wasn't until I got into therapy that they
- 1:30:45they heard me say that. And like Ron, does the gym have
- 1:30:49a knife at the door waiting for you to?
- 1:30:51And I'm like, you know what? No, but how I described the gym,
- 1:30:54it's like the gym had a knife. And if I went to the gym, I'm
- 1:30:57going to, it's going to. And it was like my my language
- 1:31:01and my views of the gym had me afraid to go to the gym.
- 1:31:06And I believe that's. Replace that gym with.
- 1:31:08The doctor or this or that. And I believe for me, as Miss
- 1:31:12Ritchie said, I don't trust the bank teller with my when they
- 1:31:16give me my money. You recount that.
- 1:31:18So is it trust or do? We need a little confidence and
- 1:31:23if I have confidence in. Myself that you can take care of
- 1:31:26me, then I'm going to give you 50% of my confidence because
- 1:31:29that's all I have about myself. If I got 50% confidence in
- 1:31:32myself, then I can only give 50% confidence out.
- 1:31:35So we got to be able to measure ourselves.
- 1:31:37We got to be able to talk to the talk that out instead of
- 1:31:39suffering in silence and that wait until that last minute and.
- 1:31:43I I don't say that. We lost my friend that way but
- 1:31:47she didn't go to the doctor and they they told her to wait and
- 1:31:51and when and when and at the end of the night she that she didn't
- 1:31:55make it that was. Because I was a normal no,
- 1:32:00don't, don't. Go to the hospital because they
- 1:32:01ain't going to tell you they ain't, they ain't going to take
- 1:32:03care of you. And we passed that on to our
- 1:32:06community. We passed that on in the
- 1:32:09conversation. All you got to watch, watch out
- 1:32:10for them doctors, because they ain't, they ain't going to take
- 1:32:12care of you. Now how do you tell the?
- 1:32:15Family How do you tell the. Family that's just about to have
- 1:32:18a baby that they find out that they're going to have a baby
- 1:32:21with sickle cell and now they go to the support group and the
- 1:32:24conversation and support group is beware of this ape.
- 1:32:27It's you already. We already planted that seed of
- 1:32:29fear in that family already before they even get to
- 1:32:32experience their own doctor, because they're going to show up
- 1:32:35guarded with, well, my, my community says you're not going
- 1:32:38to take care of my baby. So I'm already guarded.
- 1:32:42I'm already offended. That's my part, Doctor.
- 1:32:47Dasney, Dr. Dabney. Yeah, I'm just listening.
- 1:32:50To this conversation. Pretty.
- 1:32:51Heavily, one of the things that I do, I know a lot of doctors
- 1:32:55don't, don't do this. Maybe they should, but I hear a
- 1:32:59lot of static with, you know, the the doctor and their past
- 1:33:06relationships and stuff. Well, you, you communicate.
- 1:33:11Oh yeah. You communicate and I was like,
- 1:33:14well. I.
- 1:33:14I that's what I'm supposed to do because no, you spend more time
- 1:33:18and I says, well, I, that's part of my practice.
- 1:33:21I know everybody doesn't do it, but one of the things I do try
- 1:33:24to teach them is ask how to ask questions.
- 1:33:31I mean, you know, I. Take out a lot.
- 1:33:33Of the medical terminology and when you go into the doctor you
- 1:33:36know make sure that you're asking the right questions
- 1:33:40mindful that his doctor has 1520 minutes you've got 10 questions
- 1:33:45but you need to narrow it down to at least the top three and
- 1:33:48this is how you approach it this is how you.
- 1:33:50Ask. And that kind of breaks down the
- 1:33:53barrier and gives them more confidence of going to the
- 1:33:56doctor. And as a don't, you know, don't
- 1:33:58take no for an answer. If you're not comfortable with
- 1:34:01their response, then maybe you should see some someone else.
- 1:34:05But at least I'm offering them a tool or some tools to make them
- 1:34:08feel more confident on doing that.
- 1:34:11So I mean I. Mean that's just one of the
- 1:34:14things I. Like to do, I do like to
- 1:34:15communicate with them, make them feel comfortable, you know,
- 1:34:20Thank you. Thank.
- 1:34:20You and. That again, we talk about
- 1:34:22communication sure, sure. Yeah, yes, I I want to pick up
- 1:34:26on that piece that. That.
- 1:34:27The doctor said right there, that's the key, and I find that
- 1:34:32that's the key to helping a patient be compliant is when you
- 1:34:39actually just listen. And I'm pretty sure Doctor
- 1:34:42Dabney does what I do. I literally sit down and they
- 1:34:47did studies. If we sit as.
- 1:34:49Doctors as healthcare professionals, you sit down,
- 1:34:54right? So do you.
- 1:34:54Sit down. So that they feel like I do a
- 1:34:58lot of. Telemedicine.
- 1:34:59So I am I am sitting down, but you're sitting down.
- 1:35:02But when I did have my own. Office.
- 1:35:05That was one of the things that I that I'm gonna read the
- 1:35:07studies that, that they sat next to me.
- 1:35:11I didn't have a desk. My desk, my office was small, so
- 1:35:14I couldn't have they had to sit next to me.
- 1:35:15So they sat next to me and I sat next to them and we're on the
- 1:35:19same level. Some doctors will sit.
- 1:35:22There away you. Know they're they set up a Berry
- 1:35:25their. Desk is the Berry or.
- 1:35:27Or there's the patient sits and they and they're on a higher
- 1:35:30level that sets up in a negative tone.
- 1:35:35At least that's what the studies.
- 1:35:36And I'm pretty sure a lot of patients don't like it.
- 1:35:37So I had them sit next to me and I'm looking at them.
- 1:35:40They have the questions and that's how I did in the past.
- 1:35:43So beautiful. Thank you so much.
- 1:35:46Do you do we So we're like you're a good doctor The.
- 1:35:48Way we set it up, it's no insurance, it's a membership
- 1:35:51model. So we are actually only working
- 1:35:56for the patients and that way. We can.
- 1:36:01I mean, I've had visits 2 hours. I mean, I don't think that's
- 1:36:06probably best all the time we'd. Like to keep it 30 minutes to I
- 1:36:12know. But you know, we can do.
- 1:36:15That, you know, we can. Do that because of.
- 1:36:17The way we're, we're not owned by insurance in this in this
- 1:36:21space. So what you know, and that's why
- 1:36:26we can say, OK, we're going to give everybody 15 minutes
- 1:36:30whether you're part of us or not.
- 1:36:32Yeah. And I feel like if.
- 1:36:34If people. Can tell their story.
- 1:36:37Yeah. Everyone has a story to tell.
- 1:36:39And I'm like you, I hear so many patients say no one's actually
- 1:36:44ever listened. Yeah.
- 1:36:46Or no one's ever explained. This to me.
- 1:36:49Before I heard that about 10 times today.
- 1:36:51Yeah, I think I saw 24 patients today and I at least 10.
- 1:36:56Of them said no. One's ever like, just heard me
- 1:37:00out. Yeah, you know, 'cause I really
- 1:37:03feel. What you're saying?
- 1:37:04And because when you can hear people out, you can take the
- 1:37:08fear out of it and put understanding in.
- 1:37:13It's and I worked for. You know I worked for.
- 1:37:17A company. I still do it, but The thing is
- 1:37:22they. Put you on this clock.
- 1:37:24You know. Make a knock on the door.
- 1:37:27Saying you know you're. 510 minutes over whatever and I was
- 1:37:31like, you know, this is not something that.
- 1:37:33That's. I, I originally started my own
- 1:37:35practice, you know, that's what I did.
- 1:37:36So I'm used to budgeting my time, managing my time.
- 1:37:39No, sometime I'm like, yeah, I did go over, but in the long run
- 1:37:43it was well worth it because I got a lot more information in
- 1:37:46that, in that block of time. But I do understand your
- 1:37:50upsetting the balance stuff seeing other patients.
- 1:37:52But. Usually it's the patient that
- 1:37:54really need it the most. Those are the ones you spend a
- 1:37:56lot of time with. Exactly.
- 1:37:58Yeah. So it's not all.
- 1:38:00It's not all, it's not all bad. I'll make that time.
- 1:38:02Up and they'll say well I can't really afford this extra time I
- 1:38:06said well we'll. We'll figure it out what this
- 1:38:10is, what I'm. Going to do, don't really worry
- 1:38:11about it and they usually like that approach.
- 1:38:13Because. They're always thinking we're,
- 1:38:16you know, gouging them for time and you know, whatever.
- 1:38:18I was like, no, I'm not gouging. I'm trying to get this
- 1:38:21information out of you and this is the best way I can do it.
- 1:38:24So it it overall, it works out pretty well.
- 1:38:27Thank you so much, Lupita. I know you.
- 1:38:30You're. In the community, you got the
- 1:38:32medi lab and and we're looking to definitely come up there and
- 1:38:35do a lot of more work in the lab.
- 1:38:38And so you deal with patients, you see people you know.
- 1:38:42What's your view on that take of just that relationship and what
- 1:38:45do you see? I see.
- 1:38:49You know the. The the patients, they are in
- 1:38:54need of being heard. A lot of people that's, that's
- 1:38:59sometimes what it is like when they go to see a doctor.
- 1:39:05They just need to be hurt. And if you give them 1015
- 1:39:10minutes of just listening, it is very healing for them.
- 1:39:16It is very healing for them. It has happened with, with so
- 1:39:21many people, even with Pharon. Sometimes we just like start
- 1:39:25texting and like can, can can we call and we're spent 2-3 hours
- 1:39:30on the phone just talking. And by the end, you know, we, I
- 1:39:34feel that I learned so much from from him and he just like when
- 1:39:40he hung up, he said, thank you for listening to me.
- 1:39:43So, you know, we all need that space where we can just be heard
- 1:39:51and, and that can be some kind of healing too.
- 1:39:56And I think, you know, we are here, the five of us can agree
- 1:40:01on that and, and, and we are willing to do a lot of that part
- 1:40:06of just listening to to people or each other.
- 1:40:11And after that, we can. See what else, what treatment or
- 1:40:18what is the other way how we can.
- 1:40:23Help them. Yeah.
- 1:40:25Thank you, Thank you. Thank you.
- 1:40:27Miss Richie. Anything you want to say before
- 1:40:29we get out of here, we're going to kind of go around one more
- 1:40:32time around. If I missed anything that you
- 1:40:33wanted to say that you wanted to share what you up to your
- 1:40:37organization information, whatever you want to share,
- 1:40:39well, not really. I'm just happy to be a part.
- 1:40:42Of this group and see Doctor Maisha and Dr. Daphne and
- 1:40:46Lupita. I just think it's it's great
- 1:40:49things for. Ron, that you're.
- 1:40:50Doing and I appreciate you allowing me to be on your
- 1:40:54platform and I see a future where we will continue to be
- 1:40:59warriors and fight until we are heard until we're heard that
- 1:41:03that's it that's. It thank and thank you Miss
- 1:41:05Ritchie for taking time out again.
- 1:41:08I can't we can't have this conversation.
- 1:41:10We still missing at least two more pieces of the puzzle,
- 1:41:12Doctor Austin and Doctor Randolph for me.
- 1:41:15And so just just because there's so many aspects.
- 1:41:21Of sickle cell trade. In you, we all, it's beautiful
- 1:41:24because we all we don't overlap each other.
- 1:41:27Everybody fits in their conversation and it's like
- 1:41:30there's no competition. It's like, oh, I could speak to
- 1:41:32this, but you can speak to that and I could.
- 1:41:34And now we just come together and everybody gets to share
- 1:41:36their stage and share their story and share the impact and
- 1:41:39what's missing. And people walk away with so
- 1:41:42many. Like we did the conference here
- 1:41:44in LA and it was like, that was one of the nicest conferences
- 1:41:48that I, that I've experienced in a long time.
- 1:41:50And I've been doing conferences for 16 years almost at least.
- 1:41:55And but that one was like, and you moderated it and it was just
- 1:41:58like, oh man, like this was, this was, it was good.
- 1:42:02Like it was a really good. Experience.
- 1:42:04I thought that too. I I I didn't think it just.
- 1:42:07Because I was the moderator. Well, of course not, I thought.
- 1:42:12It was really. Really great.
- 1:42:14It was and and so we're we're like.
- 1:42:16OK, how do we have our, how we have a sickle cell trade.
- 1:42:19We, we've attempted it, but we really need to have our own
- 1:42:22sickle cell trade conference, our own, our own inherited genes
- 1:42:26conference so that people can come and listen, ask questions,
- 1:42:31share their story. Like, like, like I'm learning
- 1:42:33about my teaching. I don't want to talk at people,
- 1:42:37I want to talk from from. Life and allow.
- 1:42:40People to ask you OK, what? What do you want to talk about?
- 1:42:42Let them ask the questions because that's what they're here
- 1:42:45for. A lot of people just go speak at
- 1:42:47people and then you go home. It's like they didn't get they
- 1:42:50didn't get heard. Yeah, you talked at me, but I
- 1:42:53don't know if it's. And if it's got to be a small
- 1:42:55group of intimate conversations, I'd rather have a bunch of small
- 1:42:59conferences then 1000 people and they don't get the chance.
- 1:43:03To talk to us. They don't.
- 1:43:04Get the chance to say what they actually need and why they came
- 1:43:06here. So I tell people, yeah, you
- 1:43:09might want a big conference because it looks good on cameras
- 1:43:12and on films, But small groups are just as effective.
- 1:43:17I take 10 people before I take 50 people that walk away.
- 1:43:20Like I didn't get a chance to say nothing.
- 1:43:23Like, that's my view on that. And.
- 1:43:24So how we build? Our conversations and we, we've
- 1:43:27been chipping at it a long time as as a group and that
- 1:43:30individuals. But now it's, it's time for us
- 1:43:32to take that stand and, and, and carve our own way out so that
- 1:43:36people can come to us in the different aspects of sickle cell
- 1:43:40training. Find, ask what they need, find
- 1:43:43out how they can get the help and then walk away with, Hey,
- 1:43:47you know what? They, they, they heard me and I,
- 1:43:51I got something I could take away that I can improve my
- 1:43:53quality of life. Doctor Dabney, man, you got to
- 1:43:57come back, bro, because sure, we, we got, we got to peel these
- 1:44:00white cells off, bro. We got to, we got to go to
- 1:44:02another level of the white cells because Lupita is, is
- 1:44:06inflammation, right? One of the things The thing is
- 1:44:09about you, you were talking about your level of this, this
- 1:44:12is for anybody really. But level of pain that is your
- 1:44:16pain coming from after you've exerted yourself, like playing
- 1:44:19basketball or is it just pain that just is it just there all
- 1:44:23the time or do you notice after you getting sick?
- 1:44:27I mean, what is the, I guess the pattern I'm trying to figure.
- 1:44:30Yeah. So I, I, I, I how I language it
- 1:44:33is after I had that rhabdo, my rhabdo experience, the skeletal,
- 1:44:37muscular and joint damage that I experienced from that that had
- 1:44:40that pain never gone, has never gone away.
- 1:44:43Well, it's like a scarring situation.
- 1:44:45The. Reason the.
- 1:44:47Reason why I was. Asking.
- 1:44:49Remember, we are I talk so. Much about too many a.
- 1:44:52Lot of people I may have had this conversation, but I'll make
- 1:44:54this short. A lot of the times when your
- 1:44:56muscles have been damaged and you don't, I mean, you can maybe
- 1:45:00heal it, but. If you don't give it the.
- 1:45:02Proper nutrients that you need. It's a, it's a vicious, it's a
- 1:45:07vicious cycle. And one of the things while I
- 1:45:09was getting that is if you're not, if you're not supporting
- 1:45:12your muscle health like vitamin D takes care of that.
- 1:45:16It's it's supports the muscle or if you're not getting enough
- 1:45:22things that produce the. Energy.
- 1:45:23Like the ATP that you would need or the potassium that you need,
- 1:45:28or the B12 that you need to produce that energy.
- 1:45:32So we've talked with this before where the energy is the key.
- 1:45:36If you don't have enough energy, your cells, in this case the
- 1:45:39muscle cells are not, they're not doing anything.
- 1:45:41They're just sitting around. Body doesn't like that.
- 1:45:43Well, if you're not doing anything, it'll just slowly get
- 1:45:47rid of you, you know? So that's what I was thinking
- 1:45:50about. You may.
- 1:45:51Not. Be you're taking care of
- 1:45:53yourself, but you may not be giving yourself what you need
- 1:45:55to, to generate to to heal right.
- 1:45:58And that's why I went to Lapita 'cause I'm like, OK, what else?
- 1:46:01What is getting some help doing some herbs and whatever that
- 1:46:05means to to support those well support yourself could be a
- 1:46:09muscle and then my tray pain and then so I.
- 1:46:12Have tray pain in my. Arm right.
- 1:46:15And so I understand that that could be over time because
- 1:46:17that's been since I was 2 years old.
- 1:46:19I think I'm we have talked about before.
- 1:46:21And I think. Everyone kind of this is
- 1:46:23important for everyone, is that there was a sickle cell person I
- 1:46:28was working with. She led me to a conference and
- 1:46:30she told me, hey, somebody, one of your patients told me about
- 1:46:35you and was like, what are you talking?
- 1:46:36About. Well, you told him to take a
- 1:46:37sublingual B12. It was folate, a methyl B12,
- 1:46:41methylfolate. It was like, who was this?
- 1:46:43I don't remember their name, but they remember you.
- 1:46:45And he says they hadn't had a crisis in a long time.
- 1:46:48I was like, oh, and I kind of knew that, but I wasn't
- 1:46:52expecting to be called out. On it but.
- 1:46:55One of the things that, you know, the trade doctor was
- 1:46:58talking about that I had the same experience, like same.
- 1:47:02Thing of a methyl. B12 methylfolate woman had
- 1:47:04pregnant, couldn't get pregnant before.
- 1:47:07Right. She couldn't get so once I also.
- 1:47:10Only. Thing I said to.
- 1:47:11Her to do, she was another foreign country and she had
- 1:47:14tried for years. And I said well, maybe there is
- 1:47:16a methylization problem. You're not methyl like MTHFR
- 1:47:21mutation. I didn't know she couldn't
- 1:47:23afford a test. She's in a foreign country,
- 1:47:25don't even do it. So I said just take these and
- 1:47:28hopefully this works. A year later, I get a phone call
- 1:47:31on Christmas Day. And.
- 1:47:33She goes, congratulations, We're we're pregnant.
- 1:47:37Wow, we're pregnant. I what?
- 1:47:38Do you? Mean.
- 1:47:41What do you mean? We she's.
- 1:47:43Going to. Let me know that they had their.
- 1:47:45Their. First child she had Dante's
- 1:47:47doctor. So anyway, the point I'm making
- 1:47:49is supporting the health of the different things that supply the
- 1:47:53energy. Without the energy, the the cell
- 1:47:55or muscle or tissue is not going to work.
- 1:47:57It's it's going to toss it. Yeah, I love how and I love how
- 1:48:01do we did have. That.
- 1:48:02Conversation about, yeah, I couldn't remember what need and
- 1:48:05what and what triggers that vitamin D to express, you know,
- 1:48:09it was, it was K12 or something, something you were talking
- 1:48:12about. You need DD3K2.
- 1:48:14Yeah, K. Two.
- 1:48:15Yeah. But the key.
- 1:48:18Is the activation part you need, right?
- 1:48:20That's part B6 and zinc, right? And you know this vitamin D you
- 1:48:25get? From the Sun.
- 1:48:27Or the supplement to your food is not activated and oh, you've
- 1:48:30got to have to to move the council around.
- 1:48:33But anyway the. Point is.
- 1:48:35People are put them on 50,010 thousand I.
- 1:48:39Use. And.
- 1:48:39They're coming up with muscle cramps, muscle problems because
- 1:48:42there's too much calcium floating around and not.
- 1:48:45Being. Redirected right Madness is just
- 1:48:51no. Again, that's that's the
- 1:48:53conversation. That our community needs to
- 1:48:55understand because if they understood that you would change
- 1:48:59your diet, you would not eat what you eating because
- 1:49:02seriously, there was nothing coming out of.
- 1:49:05That food for that. Cell to breakdown and diffuse
- 1:49:08this over here and take this over here and drop this amino
- 1:49:11acid over here because it needs to go this way like if you don't
- 1:49:14have that to deliver right well, The thing is I was the I was.
- 1:49:18Leading up to. The vitamin D I know we didn't
- 1:49:20talk about this a lot but the mast cells are controlled and
- 1:49:24modulated by vitamin DI. Think I mean vitamin D is a lot
- 1:49:28of. Stuff but it it it.
- 1:49:31Calms the modulation of the immune.
- 1:49:33Cells it. Calms.
- 1:49:33Them down. To to.
- 1:49:35And there's a vitamin. C.
- 1:49:39There was vitamin D, There's another one, quercetin.
- 1:49:42I know a lot of people have heard quercetin very important
- 1:49:44and this is the season. Where everyone I know doesn't.
- 1:49:48Everybody should be taking. It right now.
- 1:49:50Yeah, I just had a Covic case today.
- 1:49:52Yeah, so first one of the season.
- 1:49:55So so. So we're saying this and we're a
- 1:49:58lot of people are doing. It in their practice and they're
- 1:50:00they're doing it. It's just getting the
- 1:50:02information out there to does that support just sickle cell
- 1:50:06sickle? Trait just just support.
- 1:50:08General health since this is Tuesday's and stuff like that.
- 1:50:11So I just want to point that out and and though they're like I
- 1:50:14said, there are other red blood cell conditions as well that
- 1:50:17people live with not just sickle cell trait thalassemia, C trait
- 1:50:20OA wrap. So right so I I see this a lot.
- 1:50:24And I work with a. Lot of different patients, I
- 1:50:27work a lot of mystery cases and no one, nobody doesn't can solve
- 1:50:31them. And I said, well, I'll take
- 1:50:32them. And I learned so much from those
- 1:50:34patients because of the of nobody was like like nobody
- 1:50:37really wants them. I'll take it.
- 1:50:39And that's exactly. What I do I can.
- 1:50:42Do it in a week. Sometimes it may take me months,
- 1:50:45sometimes I took a lady. About five years, but I was able
- 1:50:47to figure it out. Wow.
- 1:50:49And and and and is is that? Listening.
- 1:50:51Yeah, you. Got to listen back to.
- 1:50:55The. Lab.
- 1:50:56Yeah, yeah. So we're a lot of like.
- 1:50:59Pizza I'm. Just amazed like I'm sitting
- 1:51:02here. Amazed, I know I'm so lonely out
- 1:51:06here, Lupita. Anything.
- 1:51:09You want to. Say that I've missed that we
- 1:51:10want. To, you know, just express to
- 1:51:12the people and and I just want to ask you a question just took.
- 1:51:16A few vaccines to go in your preparing your body to go on a
- 1:51:21trip. So I want to know what was your
- 1:51:25before you were scared to take the vaccines and what was your
- 1:51:30what? Was your experience?
- 1:51:33So I I I end up taking the 2. I got the yellow fever.
- 1:51:35And the typhoid and, and so those I, I, I went for the
- 1:51:38mandatory ones that I could get in the country and get out of
- 1:51:41the country with. So I went for the, the mandatory
- 1:51:44was really only, well, it's three, the, the yellow fever,
- 1:51:47the typhoid and I got the malaria pills.
- 1:51:49So I have to take the malaria pills before I leave, while I'm
- 1:51:51there. And then a week after I get
- 1:51:53back. Malaria pills scare me because I
- 1:51:56don't, again, I don't have all the information about sickle
- 1:51:58cell trait, but it makes it doesn't make sense to me to take
- 1:52:00malaria pills because it's not going to trigger my trait, you
- 1:52:03know, So I have all that fear, but they said, no, this is not
- 1:52:06that. They're just going to be another
- 1:52:07added protective blah, blah. So I'm like, OK, I'm cool with
- 1:52:10the malaria pills. I'm not going to fear taking
- 1:52:12those. But I did have a little concern
- 1:52:14about the yellow fever because that was live in the typhoid,
- 1:52:17But I took them and I, I, I, I want to say I'd end up having a
- 1:52:22fever. I did deal with a little bit of
- 1:52:25fever and then I had a couple day, half a day of soreness in
- 1:52:29my arms. But I, I was, I was watching, I
- 1:52:32was paying attention. And besides the heat, besides
- 1:52:34the little fever and how I feel a little groggy, a little tired
- 1:52:37that when that next day I kind of slept half the afternoon.
- 1:52:41But Nah, I'm good, I'm good. And I, and I appreciate you,
- 1:52:45like I said, working with me. And then again, we're talking
- 1:52:48about whole health and I just talking about your, your, your
- 1:52:52feeling of your body, but your mental, your emotional, your
- 1:52:56physical, like spiritual, like all of that.
- 1:53:01I've, I have 16 years. I've been at each one of those
- 1:53:07and and the most recent one was my physical because I've I've.
- 1:53:16I've done this. I was doing the spiritual work
- 1:53:18so. At first I was doing the, the
- 1:53:20emotional and, and mental health.
- 1:53:22So I was feeding my soul, right? I'm feeding my soul.
- 1:53:25If I got better, I'm, I'm alive. I found radio.
- 1:53:28I found all these things to put in place of not interrupting and
- 1:53:31willingness to die, right? Because of my, my fear that life
- 1:53:35was over. And then I got into, back into
- 1:53:37church the last seven years. And as I, and as I've done that
- 1:53:41work started at 40 years old, I was able to go back in time and
- 1:53:45I started looking at the decisions and the stories that
- 1:53:48were in my mind, the stories I made-up about my dad.
- 1:53:51That he didn't love me. The story I made about my mom
- 1:53:54abandoned me. There was a story I made it
- 1:53:56between my mom and my grandmother at two years old
- 1:53:59that I that I how does how does a 2 year old mind land on that
- 1:54:03I'm unsafe and I'm lost in. Relationships.
- 1:54:07Between my mother and my grandmother and the emotional
- 1:54:12piece was I never, ever, ever want to feel that pain again of
- 1:54:17disappointment at all cost now that all cost of avoiding
- 1:54:24disappointment 16 years later here in my house, I'm sitting
- 1:54:28there and I'm eating and watching TV.
- 1:54:31And a friend of mine took the classes that I took.
- 1:54:33So we're speaking the same conversation language.
- 1:54:36And she took the second course and she says, do you remember
- 1:54:38what your, your act was? And I'm like, well, you know
- 1:54:41what my ACT is? I, I did that class twice over
- 1:54:45the over the last 16 years. I said, but I know my stuff is
- 1:54:48still around. I'm not good enough, I'm not
- 1:54:49worth it. So that's my, my self talk was
- 1:54:53I'm not good enough and I'm not worth it.
- 1:54:54No matter what you see me do, no matter all the stuff you see
- 1:54:57these shows, there's times that I sit down and by myself and,
- 1:55:01and, and I'm like, you know what, you know, you're not good
- 1:55:04enough. You know, you're a fraud.
- 1:55:06If somebody finds out that you're not good enough, why
- 1:55:07would they want to be a part of your stuff?
- 1:55:09Why would they want to work with you because you're not good
- 1:55:11enough? You know, you're not worth it.
- 1:55:12And so that has been myself taught since I it's not I can
- 1:55:15think, right? And so she says, well, you know
- 1:55:18what? The command, the ACT is a
- 1:55:20command where we say something to ourselves to protect our
- 1:55:24emotional state. But as a child, and I'm like,
- 1:55:28oh, OK, you know. I, I I don't remember.
- 1:55:30What my command was, but I, I OK, thank you that, that the
- 1:55:35rest of that day, my middle mind was like searching my heart or
- 1:55:41my command because I knew I took the education.
- 1:55:43I knew I took that class twice. So I know I, it's in there.
- 1:55:45I just got to remember what it where it was.
- 1:55:47Well, all day. I'm looking for that, that, that
- 1:55:50command of what was mine. What was mine?
- 1:55:52OK, then OK. But my first mind, I'm like, I'm
- 1:55:54having a good day. I'm doing my thing.
- 1:55:56Everything's cool. I'm just having a great, great,
- 1:55:58great day. My subconscious mind quiet, no
- 1:56:02background noise at all. And then all of a sudden my, my
- 1:56:07middle mind says, oh, remember what your mom said?
- 1:56:09Your mom said, if you want to know about the strongholds and
- 1:56:13why people behave the way they do, go back to the fall of
- 1:56:16Genesis with Adam and Eve and, and, and the fall.
- 1:56:21So I'm like, Oh yeah, I remember that.
- 1:56:23So, OK, so I know for me, I've discovered that I live from
- 1:56:27avoiding shame, embarrassment and disappointment.
- 1:56:31Those were the things that I discovered about Fahran.
- 1:56:33I'm living avoiding those, right?
- 1:56:35So I discovered the shames, I discovered the embarrassments.
- 1:56:40And then my mind was like, oh, is it disappointment?
- 1:56:44And all of a sudden my subconscious mind is like, no,
- 1:56:49no, who are we going to be for? Not good enough?
- 1:56:52Who are we going to be for? Not worth it?
- 1:56:53Because that's been myself talk, right?
- 1:56:55I've been protecting myself from that conversation and when I
- 1:56:59heard that, Oh my gosh, I'm like what is going on in my head now?
- 1:57:03I'm watching TV and I'm hearing this conversation in my mind of
- 1:57:07my 2 minds battling each other telling me that we're going to
- 1:57:12be not good. Enough, and my other mind is.
- 1:57:14Like, oh, I think we found it, this disappointment.
- 1:57:16Yeah, remember, because of the two year old.
- 1:57:18And so I played back all the stuff that I discovered the last
- 1:57:2116 years. That point pointed me back to
- 1:57:24that childhood decision between my mother and my grandmother at
- 1:57:282 years old and the identity living from.
- 1:57:31I'm unsafe in relationships, I'm lost in relationships, and I
- 1:57:35don't want to experience being disappointed.
- 1:57:38Now, Can you imagine what a life for person is since they're two
- 1:57:42years old to 56 years old? 54 years of living, avoiding
- 1:57:48disappointment and I'm unsafe in.
- 1:57:49Relationships and I'm. Lost in relationships, it was
- 1:57:52like, well, no wonder in my life turned out the way it was.
- 1:57:56But the biggest thing was, the biggest thing was.
- 1:58:00Was when? I saw that and I heard my voice
- 1:58:03say that and I'm crying. My mind says OK, we got to stop.
- 1:58:08Crying for a while, you got to call.
- 1:58:10Somebody you got to because I couldn't stop crying.
- 1:58:11I couldn't stop crying and I'm like you got to call somebody my
- 1:58:14mind and I'm talking now the third, my first mind is like you
- 1:58:17stop crying, get composure of yourself, call somebody.
- 1:58:20My middle mind is like yeah, we founded this disappointment.
- 1:58:23My subconscious mind is like no, no.
- 1:58:25And I'm like what is going on y'all?
- 1:58:27And so I tell myself, OK, stop crying and come on.
- 1:58:34In my subconscious mind it says the only way you're going to
- 1:58:37stop crying is if you take your life.
- 1:58:40The only way you will stop crying.
- 1:58:41Is if you take your life, that's.
- 1:58:43What my subconscious mind said to my first mind and my middle
- 1:58:47mind says what? Oh, no, we're not doing that.
- 1:58:50We got church, we got advocacy, we got basketball, we got blood.
- 1:58:54You a grand. It's like it ran down all of the
- 1:58:57stuff that I've been taking in, from church to the mental health
- 1:59:01classes to the grief counseling, all of that.
- 1:59:04It's like God's armor. It was deflecting myself, trying
- 1:59:08to tell me to take my life, to stop crying.
- 1:59:09And when I went through that process, I called my mentor
- 1:59:13Caldwell. He's like frying you in the
- 1:59:15battle with your mind. I'm like, OK, I had to call
- 1:59:17somebody from church. I called my prophet from church,
- 1:59:20brother, you in the spiritual battle with your mind right now.
- 1:59:23And so our point is to be able to go back.
- 1:59:28And to. Discover those childhood traumas
- 1:59:34when I when. My middle mind says we not doing
- 1:59:37that. That's not an option that the
- 1:59:39I'm not good enough, I'm not good and that voice is gone.
- 1:59:45I got a level I. Got a level of confidence?
- 1:59:48Back I'm free. It's like and I and I equate
- 1:59:51that Lupita to her because we know that in psychology, the
- 1:59:56body keeps the score. There is a conversation that the
- 2:00:00body keeps the score. So I that night I released that
- 2:00:03those that crying was from that 2 year old child that I've been
- 2:00:07holding onto that I suppressed to to and I use.
- 2:00:11I never want to feel that disappointment.
- 2:00:13But guess what? I've lived 54 years.
- 2:00:19Avoiding. Disappointment and then still
- 2:00:21disappoint people and then I'm still disappointed.
- 2:00:23So I never avoided disappointment, but that's the
- 2:00:27psychological. The mental health.
- 2:00:29Conversations that in the, in the work that we're doing with
- 2:00:32our community, we have to be able to have those kind of
- 2:00:35conversations because how can we deal with our past?
- 2:00:38How can we deal? Can you imagine our a person
- 2:00:41living with I'm a burden on my family?
- 2:00:44Exactly. Can you imagine?
- 2:00:47That I'm a burden on. My family And you've been living
- 2:00:49like that since you were 5 or 8 years old.
- 2:00:53That I'm a burden and and then it's going to play out, right?
- 2:01:00The the. What you're you're touching on?
- 2:01:02A major, major key everything in this.
- 2:01:07Life the. Physical the diseases.
- 2:01:12All of this. Is a reflection.
- 2:01:15So it's a tangible reflection of what we are experiencing and why
- 2:01:20we're even here. The lesson, the test, and the
- 2:01:23punishment of this particular experience where you have you,
- 2:01:29you. You have to.
- 2:01:30Understand if you have sickle cell or sickle cell trait or any
- 2:01:36other disease, yes, and you're sick from it.
- 2:01:40It is actually a blessing in many, many, many, many ways.
- 2:01:46Yeah. That pain that you experience,
- 2:01:49it makes you a more compassionate, loving person
- 2:01:54because the next time you interact with someone else, like
- 2:01:57we're bonding here and we're bonding with the audience,
- 2:02:01they're feeling this and all these people on.
- 2:02:04YouTube that are going. To hear this or wherever we're
- 2:02:08touching something deep that all of us experienced this sensation
- 2:02:13of weakness. And God says verily, man is made
- 2:02:16weak, but then the strength comes from the most high shining
- 2:02:20on us. But if you don't go through that
- 2:02:23pain and that difficulty, you become arrogant and you can't
- 2:02:29understand what other. People are going through.
- 2:02:31And you can't do what all of us here do and actually listen and
- 2:02:34hear other people's pain. You have to suffer something
- 2:02:40early enough that. Becomes part.
- 2:02:42Of you, you work through that. Now you can help others work
- 2:02:47through that, but you get a sensibility about yourself.
- 2:02:51That's why I don't say it's wrong for two people who both
- 2:02:55have sickle cell to to get married.
- 2:02:57I mean trait to get married. First of all, you don't.
- 2:03:00Know it's a. One in four chance or two in
- 2:03:03four chance, you don't know, but every single human being has
- 2:03:09illness whether they know it or not.
- 2:03:13We're only getting out of this life one way.
- 2:03:16That's in a box. So we're we're avoiding death,
- 2:03:20we're avoiding pain, we're avoiding disappointment.
- 2:03:23Instead of understanding the lessness to work through it
- 2:03:26because that develops your trust in God.
- 2:03:29It elevates you spiritually. Yeah, you elevate you
- 2:03:32emotionally if you let it. That's one of our messages to
- 2:03:37our trade patients is that don't let this, don't let the fear of
- 2:03:41having this trait, can I travel? Can I do this?
- 2:03:44Am I going to get sick? Am I going to have a crisis?
- 2:03:47Can I go? Outside and play.
- 2:03:49Or the parent with the kid, don't let them played outside,
- 2:03:51they're going to get sick. What?
- 2:03:52A house is going to make you sick too?
- 2:03:54Because the air in the house is probably more toxic, you know?
- 2:03:58You're a human. Being you're going to.
- 2:04:01Get sick from something maybe trait isn't even really your
- 2:04:05problem. Your trait is fairly quiet.
- 2:04:08It's the methylation the MTFR gene of a patient that has like
- 2:04:12spherocytosis, MTFR gene and trait and it's like let.
- 2:04:18That boy play. Herbs and the supplements.
- 2:04:22That's important. We're going.
- 2:04:23To get those. Vitamins.
- 2:04:24That doctor Dabney. Has been talking about into the
- 2:04:27mix and we're going to go through this in a brave way.
- 2:04:30We're going to accept our situation.
- 2:04:33We're thankful we know what the problem is so we can work on it.
- 2:04:37You know, that's what we want to experience with our patients is
- 2:04:41it's OK. This is the problem we're going
- 2:04:44to find. First of all, we're going to
- 2:04:45find the problem, right? Me and Doctor Dabney, we both
- 2:04:48take. That's what we do.
- 2:04:50Probably Lupita, too. We take those rare cases that
- 2:04:54nobody wants to handle. Today I was complaining and now
- 2:04:58I shouldn't have even complained, mostly because I was
- 2:05:00trying to get here. I was complaining.
- 2:05:02I'm like, I think they gave me the hardest cases, I'm pretty
- 2:05:05sure. Because all of you, that's where
- 2:05:11the natural mind. Goes.
- 2:05:13That's where the natural mind goes, though.
- 2:05:15That's where it goes. That's the low we call.
- 2:05:18That the lower self, yeah. For us, we call it the Novs the.
- 2:05:22Lower part of the Novs. The lower desires, but even.
- 2:05:26That's. Not a bad thing.
- 2:05:27If you don't have lower desires, you won't eat, you won't be
- 2:05:32instant with your spouse, you won't drink water because you
- 2:05:35won't care. About it I.
- 2:05:37Was on my spiritual journey so heavy one time I didn't care
- 2:05:40what I wore. I didn't care if I ate.
- 2:05:43I would just say I I am. God, it's just God.
- 2:05:49Everything is. God, and my kids are like, mom,
- 2:05:53you still have a husband like your.
- 2:05:56Your clothes are inside out. Can can you put the one straight
- 2:05:58please? You know you can't.
- 2:06:00You can't do this like this. Is not going to work.
- 2:06:02And I would, I had like a uniform.
- 2:06:04I wear the same thing every day because I don't want to think
- 2:06:06about getting dressed. That's the same thing every day.
- 2:06:10So that. Lower self you.
- 2:06:12Know it's OK that you felt that disappointment.
- 2:06:16Look at all the people the disappointment is going to help.
- 2:06:19We all feel like a fraud. I remember when Doctor Samia was
- 2:06:22like, you're going through imposter syndrome 10 years ago.
- 2:06:27I was so scared to get in front of a crowd.
- 2:06:29And like be. Like, yeah, trait is not benign.
- 2:06:32I was like, Oh my God, they're going to come from my license.
- 2:06:34The white people are going to get me.
- 2:06:36So I was going to think I'm crazy, you know, I I was, she
- 2:06:40was like, you need to read this article about imposter syndrome.
- 2:06:43I was like everything, you just. Said and part of that is?
- 2:06:48Our trauma as Black people and what we go Oh, and by the way, I
- 2:06:52am black. I just want to say that my
- 2:06:54patients, one of my patients got.
- 2:06:57Mad at one of the black? Providers, they didn't like how
- 2:07:00she yeah yeah, yeah and then they came to me they.
- 2:07:03Told they had seen me, they'd seen.
- 2:07:04Her. They went back, they went and
- 2:07:06told the administrator, I don't want to see this black doctor.
- 2:07:10I want to see the Indian Dr. I was like what do?
- 2:07:16You mean feather like? I got like what Indian like.
- 2:07:19I had to tell today. No, I'm.
- 2:07:21American I was. Born.
- 2:07:23I mean, I'm Puerto Rican, but I'm American.
- 2:07:26Puerto Rico, unfortunately or fortunately, is technically.
- 2:07:33And with that being said, with that being said.
- 2:07:35Thank you all. We can have some fun.
- 2:07:38We could look, we got to be able to talk serious and we got
- 2:07:41better. Have some fun.
- 2:07:42So again, thank you all for coming on here.
- 2:07:45I'm, I'm so grateful, Miss misses Johnson Lupita, Dr.
- 2:07:50Daddy, y'all y'all, my y'all, my y'all, my threads right now.
- 2:07:55I lean, I lean on each one of y'all because there's a part of
- 2:07:58this conversation that has to and I couldn't do this by
- 2:08:00myself. I can, I can only speak about
- 2:08:03these conversations. That's why I'm like in the
- 2:08:05community. We've got to be a lot of people
- 2:08:07speak from their life experience and from their perspective so
- 2:08:11that we can be, so they can be heard and then realize that
- 2:08:15your, your illness is not unique to just you.
- 2:08:17Your, your fears and concerns and worries in life are not
- 2:08:20unique to you. We all got them in our own
- 2:08:24special way. We all deal with them.
- 2:08:26All day. Long sometimes and so how do we
- 2:08:29find the the what what I call? We think the safe.
- 2:08:34Space is a location, it's an experience.
- 2:08:37And we create it's an experience space, space experience.
- 2:08:41For. People to come and have a
- 2:08:42conversation with us and speaking on that level, we, we,
- 2:08:45we. We every, you know, we're all
- 2:08:48actually out here doing work. We're not just talking about it.
- 2:08:51We are boots on the ground. We are here for the community,
- 2:08:55you know, so we need to make sure that the that the the I, I
- 2:08:58I was trying to get into the chat to respond and I can't get
- 2:09:02in for some reason. But we need to make sure that
- 2:09:07everybody here, like, I'm not sure who quiet QT is.
- 2:09:11Yeah. And the sickle cell warrior.
- 2:09:14I want to shout. Out some of this Fatima, Jordan,
- 2:09:16Latifah, we got some people here, Sean you know everybody is
- 2:09:22here and they need to be able to get to us yeah, we need to make
- 2:09:27sure I got the I got the. I got the ticker.
- 2:09:29Bottom right here. So that their your website is
- 2:09:31beautiful. Yeah, please come.
- 2:09:34Do a console let. Us be together with you we have
- 2:09:40every aspect now and for those of us here on this panel and the
- 2:09:43couple of us that couldn't make it it's time for a meeting.
- 2:09:46We need to bang it out. How are we going to like we need
- 2:09:50to make the sickness or trade conference.
- 2:09:52We got put the different pieces together.
- 2:09:55We need to use the Medi Lab and Botanica and, and you.
- 2:09:59I don't know what Doctor Dabney's platform is
- 2:10:01specifically. Miss Johnson needs to bring us
- 2:10:04back there to Texas to do another CME.
- 2:10:06We need to bang it out. Sickle.
- 2:10:09Cell 364 spectrum, because we're talking about this last thing,
- 2:10:14we are talking about sickle cell and sickle cell trait.
- 2:10:18But as everyone has alluded to, as Doctor Dabney was talking
- 2:10:22about the different deficiencies of vitamins from all experience
- 2:10:25and vitamin D, that's a vitamin and a hormone and a modulator
- 2:10:28etcetera. We.
- 2:10:31Everything we're saying about. This disease process applies to
- 2:10:35all of them every disease process you know you're good
- 2:10:39doctor is set up so that we can take care of of any illness
- 2:10:48we're doing functional we're. Doing Islamic we're doing.
- 2:10:51Herbal. We're doing western.
- 2:10:53I'm an MD, but I'm a herbalist at heart.
- 2:10:57And you can see here we have every aspect covered, doctors,
- 2:11:00nurses, herbalist, community. I just want to make sure that
- 2:11:04people understand. We want to hear from you after
- 2:11:08this. We don't just want it to be air,
- 2:11:11we're on the air, but we want to be boots on the ground.
- 2:11:16And one more thing. We.
- 2:11:18Speak Spanish, let him know. Let him know Poquito Espanol and
- 2:11:29I know what I'm. Being talked about too just.
- 2:11:31Know I know what I'm being. Talking about.
- 2:11:39I know. Enough.
- 2:11:41I know enough. To get something to eat.
- 2:11:43Get to the bathroom and get some water.
- 2:11:46I can make it. I can make it there.
- 2:11:49I can make it, Lupita, thank you so much.
- 2:11:52Again for taking. Time out y'all this has been
- 2:11:55this has been beautiful what a way to to take on sickle cell
- 2:11:57awareness month and then our our focus on the sickle cell trade
- 2:12:01and other again, if you have other inherited genes,
- 2:12:04especially the rap though we didn't even touch about the rap
- 2:12:07community we're embracing the. Raabdo.
- 2:12:10Conversation Because raabdo can be triggered by so many other
- 2:12:14inherited genes, sickle cell trade is just one of the genes
- 2:12:17that can trigger rhabdo. Rhabdo is a.
- 2:12:21Skeletal muscular disorder. Where the myoglobin in the
- 2:12:24muscles breakdown and then it leaks into the bloodstream.
- 2:12:27But it also releases toxins in the muscles as well, especially
- 2:12:31the negative potassium, which can trigger a negative
- 2:12:34electrical charge on the heart, which some people have cardiac
- 2:12:37arrest. But it also then clogs the
- 2:12:39kidneys in the small vessels and the proteins and then the sickle
- 2:12:44cell trait mutation. Now you've got all that
- 2:12:46happening in the body. And unfortunately, in worst
- 2:12:49cases, people have had collapse and sudden death.
- 2:12:52And now we're discovering that the RMC is also connected to
- 2:12:56that overtime of exercising and all that environment stuff.
- 2:13:01And so the Rabdo community, I'm, I'm a, I'm a patient with y'all
- 2:13:05too. So I'm in the groups, Doctor
- 2:13:07Dad, me, you in the group with me, man.
- 2:13:09I go in there and see that post. I'll be like, you want to meet
- 2:13:11there with the comments. I'll be like, yeah, there you
- 2:13:13go, right there, there you go. So thank you for taking on those
- 2:13:17comments in the Rabdo again, because inflammation is such a
- 2:13:20key to all of this, right? I mean, we got to talk about not
- 2:13:23just the red blood cells, but what is the inflammation doing
- 2:13:27to our bodies and how do we get that out of our system?
- 2:13:30And sometimes the stress in your life could trigger that
- 2:13:34inflammation just as much as heart disease or conditions,
- 2:13:37right? That's that's how I understand
- 2:13:39it. So anybody we got to get out of
- 2:13:42here. I love I love y'all for real.
- 2:13:46I'm like I said, you've, you've have done nothing but increase
- 2:13:49my own self-confidence that I can stand on your shoulders and
- 2:13:53be like, you know what, if I don't know the answer?
- 2:13:56I got a list of people. Let me let me see who can get
- 2:13:58this case. Let me see who can get this
- 2:14:00question answered over here. So from the, from the doctor
- 2:14:03trade doctor to Lopita with the, with the doctor Sabi stuff like
- 2:14:07I, I, I met him, I talked to him.
- 2:14:11I'm proof that that, that it works and the clarity that comes
- 2:14:15with that. So Miss Richie, you know, we,
- 2:14:18we, we, we, we own them, right? We own them.
- 2:14:21And we're going to get these conferences going.
- 2:14:24We've got some ideas. Shouts out to Doctor Austin.
- 2:14:26We love you, Doctor Timothy Radnor.
- 2:14:30Thank you. Doctor Randolph has been here
- 2:14:31since I started 16 years ago, and he's been doing studies and
- 2:14:35and having difficulty getting sickle cell patients to
- 2:14:39participate in the studies so that he can help figure out
- 2:14:42what's triggering. Dr. O'Connor.
- 2:14:46Oh. Doctor O'Connor.
- 2:14:47Who's doing the the study that took on the military with the
- 2:14:52sickle cell trade in the military and studying the trade
- 2:14:55carriers and why some of us are having trade exertion in the
- 2:14:58military. So the military, the armies
- 2:15:00involved, they changed. They're now testing all of their
- 2:15:03army soldiers and the new recruits in the army to identify
- 2:15:07them as trade carriers and come on, that's all we could ask for.
- 2:15:12I mean the. Needle is moving. 16 years ago,
- 2:15:14they wasn't doing that right. And so I'm grateful and that we
- 2:15:18see the we see the progress. Finally, sickle cell trait is
- 2:15:21not benign. There are risk factors.
- 2:15:23There are complications to it. Fatigue, there's you got to
- 2:15:26hydrate. There's so many things going on.
- 2:15:28So I got to get out of here. We're already 2 hours and 15
- 2:15:31minutes. I hope the station's not mad at
- 2:15:32me, but there's no show. There's no show behind me.
- 2:15:35So we're cool on that note. But two hours and 15 minutes,
- 2:15:38y'all, we, we've, I appreciate you.
- 2:15:41There's, but we can treat it. We can treat those things.
- 2:15:44We can treat those complications, Holla, like don't
- 2:15:47hear those complications and get the exactly, yes, exactly.
- 2:15:52All right. You want me to?
- 2:15:53You want to give that? That phone number out?
- 2:15:55Publicly, Dr. Dabney, or is that just no problem in the group?
- 2:15:57You can, all right. You want to do it you.
- 2:15:59Want to do it I. I got you.
- 2:16:01So Doctor Dabney is, is here he is again.
- 2:16:06I, I'm, I'm, I'm my, my goal with Doctor Dabney is to us to
- 2:16:09have some, some in person, maybe online talks so that people can
- 2:16:14understand the body because we can't see what's going on inside
- 2:16:17of us. We, we, we, we by the time we
- 2:16:20like I said. By the time.
- 2:16:21We feel it by the time, but by the time we feel it, it might be
- 2:16:23a little late on that on the lady end of of feeling it.
- 2:16:26So if people have that information ahead of time to
- 2:16:30understand, yo, that McDonald's, it might be good.
- 2:16:34Not every day, but you might not want because you're you're
- 2:16:37depriving yourself of those nutrients.
- 2:16:38And I'm going to tell you this before I get out of here with
- 2:16:41this cleanse with Lupita, let me tell you, if I eat something
- 2:16:44crazy right now, Oh baby, it is in 30 minutes.
- 2:16:48It's like, and I'm like, I knew I shouldn't have had that piece
- 2:16:52of pizza. It was good, but a minute.
- 2:16:54But guess what? My.
- 2:16:55Body is pushing everything out that I don't that's that's not
- 2:16:59good for it. And so I'm like, this is, this
- 2:17:02is real. Like it's no joke.
- 2:17:04Like when you've cleanse your body and it's operating
- 2:17:07properly, you eat something that you're not supposed to eat that
- 2:17:09day. It's not going to sit there.
- 2:17:11And I'm going to tell you this too.
- 2:17:14I told her the other day, I, I, I got off of it.
- 2:17:18I was, I, I went, I was, I was somewhere, I had pizza, then I
- 2:17:22had a hot dog and then I had a hamburger.
- 2:17:24And then, and then I was like, and I'm knowing I'm like, and
- 2:17:28all of a sudden the inflammation, my hand started to
- 2:17:32swell up again and I'm like, Oh my goodness.
- 2:17:35Like I ate that food three days ago and now my body is showing
- 2:17:40me that. So what I have to do?
- 2:17:42Get back on the CZ4, get back on the Oxyhemo, get back on all
- 2:17:46and, and, and, and what happened?
- 2:17:47I can move my finger and this is the information is gone.
- 2:17:52So when you understand that and you apply that to your life and,
- 2:17:56and I must, I got to say this last piece and I forgot who I
- 2:17:59was talking to. But Lupita, we're also
- 2:18:04programmed. That.
- 2:18:05Because it's not a prescription, I can't take it like we got to
- 2:18:08do a segment on that. That is not.
- 2:18:10A prescription because it's not from my doctor, I can't.
- 2:18:13But guess what? You might have to spend some of
- 2:18:15your $99.00 a month if you want to improve your quality of life
- 2:18:19and get some supplements or get something that's not prescribed
- 2:18:23by the doctor because you can't get it from them, right?
- 2:18:25So what is that mentality that we got to deal with our,
- 2:18:28ourselves first of, hey, you know what, I can't get this as a
- 2:18:32prescription, but can I get it? Can I get it and pay for it out
- 2:18:36of my own pocket? Because this is going to help me
- 2:18:38an additional to my life and my, and my Peace of Mind.
- 2:18:42So that mentality, I, I believe that I, I've seen it in the
- 2:18:46conversations that I've had with our community that if it's not a
- 2:18:49prescription, I can't, I can't take it.
- 2:18:51It's not FDA or it's not prescription.
- 2:18:54But then you've missing out on all this holistic stuff that
- 2:18:56Lupita and Dr. Myesha is talking about that you could take.
- 2:19:01That might be what Doctor Dasmi said is the trigger to improve
- 2:19:05the vitamin D and trigger the other stuff that you're not
- 2:19:08getting from the food to 'cause that to actually work properly
- 2:19:12and have it lay dormant in your body.
- 2:19:13And then your body's kicking it out and inflammation is also
- 2:19:16kicking it out. And now you, it's all these
- 2:19:19secondary complications, right? We could go on this with ours,
- 2:19:23so I think. Y'all I got to go the.
- 2:19:24Food is the key. The food is the food is the
- 2:19:27food. Is the food.
- 2:19:28And vegetables there. I didn't see this.
- 2:19:30There you go. And that are in season.
