That's a very good Danhausen. 17 00:00:48,800 --> 00:00:52,800 Thank you. I've gotten really good at a couple of these impressions. 18 00:00:52,800 --> 00:00:55,600 But yeah, like, I mean, I don't know how you feel about my visbic man, 19 00:00:55,600 --> 00:00:57,360 but I think my Danhausen's not too bad. 20 00:00:57,360 --> 00:00:59,760 That's pretty spot on Danhausen. 21 00:00:59,760 --> 00:01:06,480 Yeah, but I will say like, as a person who used to be a giant NBA fan and now, 22 00:01:06,480 --> 00:01:09,920 I would say, could care less. 23 00:01:09,920 --> 00:01:15,120 It just doesn't really get my attention like it used to. 24 00:01:15,120 --> 00:01:22,320 Um, yeah, I mean, this is the NBA and I have had a rocky relationship. 25 00:01:22,320 --> 00:01:26,480 In the last 25 to 30 years, a lot of that has to do with the next 26 00:01:26,480 --> 00:01:32,880 not being a good team for nearly 27 years, certainly, but I obviously, you know, 27 00:01:32,880 --> 00:01:35,920 this is in a basketball podcast, put the back NBA. 28 00:01:35,920 --> 00:01:37,840 Maybe you feel this way. 29 00:01:37,840 --> 00:01:41,440 I mean, I was talking about talking to this with people the same age as me with this renewed 30 00:01:41,440 --> 00:01:45,680 interest, at least in the state of New York, for the NBA as of late, with the next success. 31 00:01:45,680 --> 00:01:48,640 Is I am enjoying the NBA. 32 00:01:48,640 --> 00:01:49,760 I watch the NBA. 33 00:01:49,760 --> 00:01:50,880 I watch the next. 34 00:01:50,880 --> 00:01:52,000 I support the next. 35 00:01:52,000 --> 00:01:56,080 But I still yearn for 90s basketball. 36 00:01:56,880 --> 00:02:00,880 That to me was like the greatest era of basketball. 37 00:02:00,880 --> 00:02:05,280 And it's sometimes I feel the same way when it comes to professional wrestling to tie it back 38 00:02:05,280 --> 00:02:07,760 into the wrestling podcast world here, Dr. Trey. 39 00:02:07,760 --> 00:02:14,080 But I don't know if you feel any differently, but to me, it's like, I still yearn for that 90s style of basketball. 40 00:02:14,080 --> 00:02:18,000 When it comes to the NBA, like, I'm a little bit older. 41 00:02:18,000 --> 00:02:20,000 I grew up on Magic Johnson, Larry Burr. 42 00:02:20,000 --> 00:02:27,520 So like the late 80s into the 90s, you know, the nicks and bowls, nicks and pacers, those rivalries, 43 00:02:27,520 --> 00:02:30,720 the bowls and the pistons, those were great rivalries. 44 00:02:30,720 --> 00:02:32,640 And it was physical basketball. 45 00:02:32,640 --> 00:02:36,160 Like, you know, guys like us were like, we're never going to be the NBA. 46 00:02:36,160 --> 00:02:37,280 We get our ass kicked. 47 00:02:37,280 --> 00:02:42,960 You know, so, um, yeah, like, and then I lived in North Carolina for a long time. 48 00:02:42,960 --> 00:02:46,320 So like when the Hornets were an expansion team and we had Larry Johnson, 49 00:02:46,320 --> 00:02:51,600 the Lonzo Morning, Kendall Gill, Rex Chapman, Mugsie Bugs. 50 00:02:51,600 --> 00:02:56,160 Mugsie Bugs, like those were some great, that was a great era of basketball. 51 00:02:56,160 --> 00:03:02,480 I, the Kobe era, I've always been a big Kobe fan. 52 00:03:02,480 --> 00:03:03,920 So like, that was great. 53 00:03:03,920 --> 00:03:08,160 Just, you know, as a Laker guy, I never got into LeBron being on the Lakers. 54 00:03:08,160 --> 00:03:10,240 I never got into Shaq being on the Lakers. 55 00:03:10,240 --> 00:03:12,720 But yeah, right now I watch it. 56 00:03:12,720 --> 00:03:15,760 I'm like, guys are flopping left and right. 57 00:03:15,760 --> 00:03:17,920 Everybody's shooting threes from half court. 58 00:03:17,920 --> 00:03:20,800 I'm like, now like drive the lane and get, you know, 59 00:03:20,800 --> 00:03:23,200 get punched in the face by Rick Mahort. 60 00:03:23,200 --> 00:03:24,400 That's what I miss. 61 00:03:24,400 --> 00:03:25,120 Yeah, yeah. 62 00:03:25,120 --> 00:03:26,400 I miss the physicality of it. 63 00:03:26,400 --> 00:03:30,960 And the same thing with wrestling and the tie back in like 90s wrestling, 64 00:03:30,960 --> 00:03:34,480 even 80s wrestling felt to me more physical. 65 00:03:34,480 --> 00:03:36,320 It felt more like an actual fight. 66 00:03:36,320 --> 00:03:40,880 I was just watching a video the day of like a match with, 67 00:03:40,880 --> 00:03:45,040 I was like four women fighting in Mexico and they did the top of rope, 68 00:03:45,040 --> 00:03:46,720 moonsault to the floor spot. 69 00:03:46,720 --> 00:03:51,600 But it took them like 15 seconds to do the spot. 70 00:03:51,600 --> 00:03:54,080 And I was like, what other world would like, 71 00:03:54,080 --> 00:03:58,640 would like four people stand around for 15 seconds and wait for somebody to jump on them, 72 00:03:58,640 --> 00:04:00,800 that they are clearly staring at. 73 00:04:00,800 --> 00:04:02,400 Like stuff like that still bothers me. 74 00:04:02,400 --> 00:04:10,480 Yeah, it feels like to me always 90s wrestling was revolutionary, 75 00:04:10,480 --> 00:04:12,160 it transcended the times. 76 00:04:12,160 --> 00:04:18,240 The like back in the day when you would see a TLC match or tag team ladder match, 77 00:04:18,240 --> 00:04:19,760 you were like amazed by it. 78 00:04:19,760 --> 00:04:21,760 Like it was special viewing, hell in a cell. 79 00:04:21,760 --> 00:04:24,400 And then things just got watered down over the years. 80 00:04:24,400 --> 00:04:26,160 And the spots became very, very similar. 81 00:04:26,160 --> 00:04:29,120 I guess the older I get some of the spots that they do, 82 00:04:29,120 --> 00:04:30,480 I'm just like, this is stupid. 83 00:04:30,480 --> 00:04:31,520 Like what are we doing here? 84 00:04:31,520 --> 00:04:36,320 Nonetheless, you've got two old guys, one yearning for 80s, 85 00:04:36,320 --> 00:04:39,520 early 90s basketball, the other yearning for 90s basketball. 86 00:04:40,320 --> 00:04:44,320 And encapsulated right now myself with all that is going on in the New York Knicks. 87 00:04:44,320 --> 00:04:48,560 Every time the next win or lose, I'm sure you see it on the news where you are, 88 00:04:48,560 --> 00:04:50,880 Dr. Trey, it becomes a war zone here. 89 00:04:50,880 --> 00:04:57,680 And to tie it all back, one Solosikoa mentioning on Smackdown this past Friday, 90 00:04:57,680 --> 00:05:00,240 that a war is coming to WWE. 91 00:05:00,240 --> 00:05:07,760 In regards to the bloodline, the bloodline, 2.0, the bloodline, rebirth, whatever you want to call 92 00:05:07,760 --> 00:05:12,480 this storyline of Roman Reigns' World-of-Wheel Champion, the Usos realigning with him. 93 00:05:12,480 --> 00:05:18,160 Adam Jacob-Fa too on there to acknowledge Roman Reigns' OTC. 94 00:05:18,160 --> 00:05:24,320 There is some intertwining here with the MFTs as we saw with the Closet Clash in Italy. 95 00:05:24,320 --> 00:05:31,360 Not a lot of crazy follow-up in the Insuming Weeks, just very subtle foreshadowing stuff, 96 00:05:31,360 --> 00:05:34,960 which I kind of dig rather than going full bore into it. 97 00:05:34,960 --> 00:05:40,400 Solosikoa talking backstage with Royce Keys, mentioning that it's time for him to align with the 98 00:05:40,400 --> 00:05:48,720 MFTs because a war is coming with the bloodline. And I felt like that segment, Dr. Trey, was not a 99 00:05:48,720 --> 00:05:56,160 throwaway line. I continue to feel like we are watching a volcano ready to erupt in professional 100 00:05:56,160 --> 00:06:03,280 wrestling and have a potentially major or obviously top storyline in professional wrestling come 101 00:06:03,920 --> 00:06:11,680 out of this with the bloodline and whoever else it takes down. I mean we saw Roman Reigns go backstage 102 00:06:11,680 --> 00:06:15,760 and be eye-to-eye with Cody Rhodes. They don't do those things for no reason. You're here in LA 103 00:06:15,760 --> 00:06:21,040 night, call out the bloodline. You hear the MFTs talking about stuff. It's carrying over on the 104 00:06:21,040 --> 00:06:26,640 Smackdown. People are discussing it, but no action, no crazy action yet from the bloodline. 105 00:06:27,520 --> 00:06:34,720 Where do you think this line falls into everything? Is it a throwaway line? Is it just a line that will 106 00:06:34,720 --> 00:06:39,840 forget about in three months time and lead us to nowhere? Or are you like me where you think this 107 00:06:39,840 --> 00:06:46,720 is leading to something more? No, I think and you and I have talked about it several times, 108 00:06:46,720 --> 00:06:52,960 or the last couple years, just your voice to go, or is that there really isn't throwaway line 109 00:06:52,960 --> 00:07:01,200 in WWE anymore? I guess like a nine month hiccup last year where maybe the storyline's weren't as 110 00:07:01,200 --> 00:07:07,840 intricately written as they had been. This trip was came up, but you see people in the background 111 00:07:07,840 --> 00:07:14,160 of a promo segment that's using Easter egg for something else. You hear a line here and there 112 00:07:14,160 --> 00:07:19,440 and it's like oh, is that a foreshadowing? And they usually do a really good job of following up. 113 00:07:20,400 --> 00:07:29,040 To me, when you have two Samoan factions, one's a heel group and one's a quasi baby face group, 114 00:07:29,040 --> 00:07:36,480 at some point they're going to have to do battle. You know, we see that in AEW like you have all 115 00:07:36,480 --> 00:07:41,520 these heel factions and okay, we got to make somebody a baby face out of this. Hey, let's 116 00:07:41,520 --> 00:07:46,320 have the Deathriar's R-Fu with Shane Taylor promotions, because when you have factions, 117 00:07:46,320 --> 00:07:51,280 you have to capitalize on the investment of talent. So to me at some point, this is, 118 00:07:51,280 --> 00:07:58,320 and I think I referenced this a few weeks ago, it's kind of reminiscent of NW O'Hollywood and NW O Wolfpack. 119 00:07:58,320 --> 00:08:04,480 Like they're technically kind of, they're in, they're all in the same family. They're just on opposite 120 00:08:04,480 --> 00:08:10,240 sides of the tree, which means either they're going to have a civil war or you're going to get a 121 00:08:10,240 --> 00:08:15,280 giant Samoan army. So and I think there's a possibility that you get both out of this. 122 00:08:15,280 --> 00:08:18,960 See that's what I was going to ask you is like, where do you think this is all leading? I, 123 00:08:18,960 --> 00:08:27,040 I think that we get a giant army. I think that this eventually plays out with Solo and the MFTs, 124 00:08:27,040 --> 00:08:32,240 realigning with the bloodlines, maybe into similar vein as to the way Jacob Fattu has 125 00:08:32,240 --> 00:08:40,560 joined the bloodline rebirth 2.0. That's my vibe. And I think that to me makes the most sense, 126 00:08:40,560 --> 00:08:47,280 because we've gone down the avenue of a civil war of the bloodline versus the OG bloodline versus 127 00:08:47,280 --> 00:08:51,680 the new bloodline. Like we've done that, been there, done that. I don't want to see that rehashed again. 128 00:08:51,680 --> 00:08:57,120 And I do think that there's something to the conversation we had last week where is WWE just 129 00:08:57,120 --> 00:09:01,920 basically going back to the well with the bloodline because they know people are into it like myself. 130 00:09:01,920 --> 00:09:08,320 And you know, recapture the hearts and minds of people creatively for the storyline aspect. 131 00:09:08,320 --> 00:09:13,360 Something that's been missing really the last movie two years, which around the same time, the bloodline 132 00:09:13,360 --> 00:09:20,400 wasn't around. There's just something that is appealing to that storyline. It's a great storyline. 133 00:09:20,400 --> 00:09:28,080 I think it's in the vein of where you could discuss it similar to a McMahon versus Stone Cold 134 00:09:28,080 --> 00:09:34,480 Steve Austin storyline. I think it's Star Wars, it's the Avengers. We've often compared it to 135 00:09:34,480 --> 00:09:39,440 that here on this podcast. And I think it's a storyline that you could always go back to as long as 136 00:09:39,440 --> 00:09:44,960 you're doing things different. And that's the most important part, Dr. Trey, is the different part. 137 00:09:44,960 --> 00:09:49,040 I think the layers that we've seen as Roman was kind of humbled the last couple of years, 138 00:09:49,040 --> 00:09:54,640 not being a world champion and trying to regain trust in he was on his own. The Usos, the other layer 139 00:09:54,640 --> 00:09:59,600 here was Big Jim was doing his own thing. Jusos was doing his own thing. Granted, Jusos was a lot 140 00:09:59,600 --> 00:10:06,320 more popular and successful for it, even though Big Jim is a great fantastic wrestler. Jacob Fattu 141 00:10:06,320 --> 00:10:11,520 was in the new bloodline. It leaves the new bloodline running on his own. He starts challenges in the 142 00:10:11,520 --> 00:10:17,440 OTC and he falls in line after tribal combat, similar to the way Jusos did following Helen Assell 143 00:10:17,440 --> 00:10:25,680 back in 2020. If they did this new bloodline versus the MFTs, it's basically a rehash of war games 144 00:10:25,680 --> 00:10:31,280 from like what two years ago and don't want to go there. But if it's, I'm fine with it if it's a stepping 145 00:10:31,280 --> 00:10:39,200 stone that leads to a gigantic faction where solo relines, Talatanga, Talatanga are all part of it 146 00:10:39,200 --> 00:10:43,760 and that makes things a little bit more different and special and we've got this super group 147 00:10:43,760 --> 00:10:50,480 of the Samoans on the bloodline. That to me is the added part that's really good, is that there's 148 00:10:50,480 --> 00:10:55,840 layers to this that are different and new from what we've seen. Maybe separation from the original 149 00:10:55,840 --> 00:11:01,200 storyline is what we needed to go back to because it's worth it and I don't think that this is a 150 00:11:01,200 --> 00:11:06,400 viewership or attendance play by WWE because I don't really think that they maybe look at those 151 00:11:06,400 --> 00:11:13,760 numbers as much as they used to anymore. But yeah, I don't know how it plays out right now, Dr. Trey. 152 00:11:13,760 --> 00:11:21,200 I would assume it leads to some sort of match again between both factions, something. But I don't 153 00:11:21,200 --> 00:11:25,920 think that these are throwaway lines. I think there's a lot of room for them to do something very 154 00:11:25,920 --> 00:11:31,360 creative and fun here and I'm excited to see where things go these like next four to six months I would 155 00:11:31,360 --> 00:11:38,160 hope. Yeah, I just had this really crazy thought where they do island combat. It's like from the video game. 156 00:11:39,440 --> 00:11:45,440 Well, I'm just thinking like, yeah, but basically they go out, they find an island and then you have to 157 00:11:45,440 --> 00:11:51,120 have this Samoan battle on the island, kind of like stadium stampede. And they, W, where's like, 158 00:11:51,120 --> 00:11:57,040 you know, all these guys just fighting it out and like some kind of like Lord of the Flies meets tribal 159 00:11:57,040 --> 00:12:05,040 combat style match, but that's not really WWE style. But I mean, I do think it's leading to something. 160 00:12:05,040 --> 00:12:11,280 But the question is, is like, if this was the game plan, then why do you release JC Mateo? Why do you release 161 00:12:11,280 --> 00:12:19,600 Tonga Loa? Like you kind of need the numbers to back up this because right now it's four against three. 162 00:12:19,600 --> 00:12:26,480 You know, now Jacobs kind of playing like we saw it last week on Raw where like Jimmy and Jay are 163 00:12:26,480 --> 00:12:31,520 telling him to get Seth and he just walks away. There's still a little bit of ascension there. But like, 164 00:12:32,240 --> 00:12:38,400 where does this, you know, when it all plays out, like do you get a heel Roman Reigns again leading this 165 00:12:38,400 --> 00:12:45,360 giant faction or do the MFTs go babyface and they end up feeling with like a much larger version of 166 00:12:45,360 --> 00:12:51,360 the vision. Like it is kind of like when you get a supergroup together, it's kind of like the old 167 00:12:51,360 --> 00:12:58,400 NWA when you had the horsemen. And then you had the dudes with attitude or some you had to have some 168 00:12:58,400 --> 00:13:04,640 kind of opposite faction to fight it out. I mean, you mentioned Star Wars, you mentioned the Avengers. 169 00:13:04,640 --> 00:13:10,560 Yeah, you can have the Jedi's, but you need the Empire. You know, you can have the Avengers, but you 170 00:13:10,560 --> 00:13:16,960 need Thanos and his army. You got to make sure that when you're coming up your storyline, the scales 171 00:13:16,960 --> 00:13:23,280 are kind of even because that's how you get the viewership. That was, if you remember like two years ago, 172 00:13:23,280 --> 00:13:29,200 we used to joke about how AEW everybody's in a faction, but they were almost all heel factions. 173 00:13:29,200 --> 00:13:36,720 And they've adjusted that to where now it's okay, all the babyfaces are in a faction or they're at 174 00:13:36,720 --> 00:13:41,280 least friendly. And then the heels have their collection and that's how you can get these big 175 00:13:41,280 --> 00:13:50,880 tribal warfare is going on. WWE, outside of when they had the DOA, Loose for Week was, and the nation, 176 00:13:51,600 --> 00:13:54,880 they've never really done gang warfare very well. 177 00:13:54,880 --> 00:14:03,520 No, they haven't. They've definitely struggled with that. I think maybe DX and the nation 178 00:14:03,520 --> 00:14:08,880 and domination was pretty interesting at one time. But that was like, that was the, that was kind of 179 00:14:08,880 --> 00:14:15,920 the fallout from the nation. I mean, that was still in that same window area. You know, it was 180 00:14:15,920 --> 00:14:22,320 definitely the fallout of that. Yeah. But when you had the corporation versus what was at the, 181 00:14:22,320 --> 00:14:29,680 what was the one with Big Show and the babyface, the union, that was like a month long thing. Yeah. 182 00:14:29,680 --> 00:14:35,920 It is mankind, Big Show, Ken Shamrock and Tess with Vince all holding two by fours. 183 00:14:35,920 --> 00:14:42,080 Two by fours. And how they never involved Hacksaw, Jim Duggan. He should have been at least 184 00:14:42,080 --> 00:14:47,600 selling them the two by fours. You know, a little cameos for something. But they've, every time we get 185 00:14:47,600 --> 00:14:54,560 a big stable though over the last 15 years in WWE, it's always been like a loose affiliation of 186 00:14:54,560 --> 00:15:00,960 baby faces against them or just one baby face taking on the entire group. So I mean, I guess 187 00:15:00,960 --> 00:15:08,320 WCW versus WWE a little bit with the invasion and what Austin was in part of the WCW Alliance. 188 00:15:08,960 --> 00:15:13,920 Maybe that was okay, but for the most part, they've just never had success with 189 00:15:13,920 --> 00:15:21,200 faction against faction warfare and maybe having triple H involved in this storyline writing, 190 00:15:21,200 --> 00:15:27,520 if this is the direction they go, will help make it work because he does seem to like factions. 191 00:15:27,520 --> 00:15:32,640 So maybe that'll help when they write this whole thing out. I think the reason with a lot of 192 00:15:32,640 --> 00:15:37,440 the faction stuff, at least for my viewpoint as a fan watching at home, is that it just never fits 193 00:15:38,080 --> 00:15:42,720 what you hope it to be. I mean, you can make that case for the OG versus the new bloodline from a year 194 00:15:42,720 --> 00:15:49,040 and a half, two years ago. I was very, very excited for that to play out and I thought it felt rushed 195 00:15:49,040 --> 00:15:54,400 as we got closer to war games. Like it could have been playing out of all the reunions that needed to 196 00:15:54,400 --> 00:15:59,600 take place. I think like maybe Sammy joined it up, like maybe like a week or two before the actual 197 00:15:59,600 --> 00:16:04,240 match. It was some odd. Then they had it at CM Punk and then it went away because Roman went away 198 00:16:04,240 --> 00:16:09,680 for a little bit heading into, you know, Manian rumble season. So I think that plays a part of it. 199 00:16:09,680 --> 00:16:14,640 I mean, there's things in the AW side of things where the death writers run like baby faces for a 200 00:16:14,640 --> 00:16:17,840 little bit, then they're back to heels and then run like baby faces for a little bit, then they run 201 00:16:17,840 --> 00:16:22,560 like heels. They don't like shantaylor promotions. They don't like the Don Callis family. 202 00:16:22,560 --> 00:16:30,480 Even though they're all heels, all of the factions. It's very difficult. I have always felt like 203 00:16:30,480 --> 00:16:36,880 to run the faction versus faction stuff. The closest one I will say, Dr. Trey, that I felt like 204 00:16:36,880 --> 00:16:47,600 was pretty nice and perfect and wasn't like this crazy creative storyline was the shield versus 205 00:16:47,600 --> 00:16:54,880 the Wyatt family. I felt like it was a very short window. Those two teams feuded. Fans wanted to see 206 00:16:54,880 --> 00:17:02,080 it. The reactions they got from the crowd were insane and popular. Then great matches and it came 207 00:17:02,080 --> 00:17:07,200 and went and it was gone and they moved on. Of course, we would have liked to see a little bit more, 208 00:17:07,200 --> 00:17:13,760 but sometimes maybe the short shelf life is what you need to see. So, Solo says, "A war is coming 209 00:17:13,760 --> 00:17:18,560 on Smackdown. I don't think that's a throwaway line. Dr. Trey does think that's a throwaway line. 210 00:17:18,560 --> 00:17:23,120 We shall see where things go because we could be on the verge of a major storyline 211 00:17:23,120 --> 00:17:30,160 starting to swarm here in WWE." Part of that major storyline, Dr. Trey may affect at least the 212 00:17:30,160 --> 00:17:34,720 King of the Ring tournament. As we look at the King and Queen of the Ring updates, we have the 213 00:17:34,720 --> 00:17:41,280 semi-finals of Oba family versus Dominic Mysterio taking place soon. Jaffan Evans advances to 214 00:17:41,280 --> 00:17:46,560 the semi after defeating Seth wrong, Talatonga and Ricky St. on Raw. He will face the winner of J.U. 215 00:17:46,560 --> 00:17:52,880 so LA Night Royce keys and Finn Balor that takes place on Friday Smackdown to give us the final 216 00:17:52,880 --> 00:17:58,000 four for the semi-finals. You and I spent a long time last week discussing that we felt like maybe 217 00:17:58,000 --> 00:18:02,160 Seth wrongs was being in line to win the King of the Ring, Oba would be sent off on the side, 218 00:18:02,160 --> 00:18:08,640 set up Seth versus Roman at Summer's Lame. Well, Seth's out, Oba still in, Jaffan Evans is now in, 219 00:18:08,640 --> 00:18:14,000 Dominic Mysterio. We have no idea who the fourth person would be. Where do you think this thing 220 00:18:14,000 --> 00:18:19,040 is going? Who is the favorite to win the King of the Ring and what is your predictions for that 221 00:18:19,040 --> 00:18:23,200 Summer's Lame title match? Because I felt like this entire time, at least for me, I'm lining it up 222 00:18:23,200 --> 00:18:28,000 that the winner is going to be taking on Roman, Roman, Roman. I feel like now maybe Cody's in play 223 00:18:28,000 --> 00:18:32,480 if they don't go the Oba route. What are your thoughts so far on King of the Ring? 224 00:18:32,480 --> 00:18:37,440 That's a good question because I didn't even think about the Cody route in a sense. So, 225 00:18:39,040 --> 00:18:44,800 I'll tell you this much, I really want Dom to win. I don't know why. I think it's because if you call 226 00:18:44,800 --> 00:18:55,840 him King Dom, that sounds kind of funny. It's the King Dom. I don't know where we go with this, 227 00:18:55,840 --> 00:19:04,000 because even on paper, let's say you got Oba and Dom, Oba wins, you got Jaffan Evans and 228 00:19:04,000 --> 00:19:09,600 anyone of the other four guys. I don't see Jaffan winning and getting to the finals so they're looking 229 00:19:09,600 --> 00:19:14,960 at Oba and then one of the four. And what if you get a Dominic Finn Balor final? That would be almost 230 00:19:14,960 --> 00:19:24,720 awful in a sense. I feel like it's getting set up as Oba still. Unless Brock comes out and costs 231 00:19:24,720 --> 00:19:30,400 Oba the match, you cannot have Oba lose to any one of those people left this tournament. 232 00:19:30,960 --> 00:19:38,320 The way you have booked it. So, I just don't see any way out other than putting Oba in the spot and 233 00:19:38,320 --> 00:19:41,760 I just don't see Oba challenging Cody. I think Oba would challenge Roman. So, 234 00:19:41,760 --> 00:19:48,720 let's, like I said, let's Brock cost Oba the match. I just don't see anybody else 235 00:19:48,720 --> 00:19:53,280 winning this thing because Oba's in it. And the biggest threats to him, 236 00:19:53,280 --> 00:19:59,840 Ron Breaker, Seth Rollins, have been eliminated from the tournament. So, I just don't see where else 237 00:19:59,840 --> 00:20:04,640 you go with that. I always feel like these tournaments and will cover Owen Hart Cup as well. 238 00:20:04,640 --> 00:20:09,760 It should be used as a springboard for somebody. Young talent, established talent, 239 00:20:09,760 --> 00:20:14,720 who's number one title, the talent that wants to get back up to the top of the charts, whatever, 240 00:20:14,720 --> 00:20:21,120 like it does not need to be made men or women like we've seen with WWE naming Cody Rhodes, 241 00:20:21,120 --> 00:20:26,560 the King of the Ring a couple years ago, and Mercedes-Bonaise winning the Owen Hart Cup over in 242 00:20:26,560 --> 00:20:34,880 the AW side last year. So, to that point, Dr. Trey, Oba Femi is a rising star and it's one of those 243 00:20:34,880 --> 00:20:40,000 shooting stars that you see this time of year. Long time fans like you and I, King of the Ring is a great 244 00:20:40,000 --> 00:20:47,440 tournament to to catapult him and I'm in agreement with you. But the one thing that I think my wrestling 245 00:20:47,440 --> 00:20:54,320 fan mine is being blocked on all this is the fact that I don't, I do think to our first topic, 246 00:20:54,320 --> 00:20:59,680 there's a major storyline playing out of the bloodline. I don't know if you do Oba vs Roman 247 00:20:59,680 --> 00:21:05,680 Reigns in my mind. I'm like, well then this is, you know, it's parallel to the Brock Lesnar run 248 00:21:05,680 --> 00:21:12,880 in 2002 where Brock, you know, is tearing up at that time he was an unknown while we've seen 249 00:21:12,880 --> 00:21:17,680 Open NXT. He's tearing up the main roster and then, when's the King of the Ring tournament, 250 00:21:17,680 --> 00:21:23,840 takes on an established star like the Rock, Wins, becomes WWE Champion and we're off to the races 251 00:21:23,840 --> 00:21:29,520 in a new era. I'm beginning to think because I was like looking at it and I look at the next match 252 00:21:29,520 --> 00:21:34,080 on SmackDown where we don't have the results yet. You've got J.U. So LA Night Royce Keys fanballer. 253 00:21:34,080 --> 00:21:41,920 I could see a world where Royce Keys wins. I could see a world where Oba Femi loses to Dom 254 00:21:41,920 --> 00:21:48,400 because of Brock Lesnar, Dom advances. Royce Keys defeats Chavon Evans and we've got Royce Keys versus 255 00:21:49,120 --> 00:21:54,480 Cody Rhodes at Summerslam. I could also now see a scenario where we move forward with what I've always 256 00:21:54,480 --> 00:21:59,040 been thinking Oba Femi wins the King of the Ring tournament, takes on Roman Reigns at Summerslam. 257 00:21:59,040 --> 00:22:04,640 And now if we think that there's going to be this super bloodline group that reforms takes place, 258 00:22:04,640 --> 00:22:11,040 Summerslam could be the Catapult where the new bloodline, larger bloodline, MFTs join in the bloodline, 259 00:22:11,040 --> 00:22:18,320 bands together and prevents Oba Femi from winning the WWE World of the Way Championship at Summerslam 260 00:22:18,320 --> 00:22:27,200 over Roman Reigns. Those to me I think are like the two scenarios. I think that Oba is obviously a guy 261 00:22:27,200 --> 00:22:33,200 that can win. I don't think we get Dom Cody Rhodes at Summerslam. I know there's a lot of people 262 00:22:33,200 --> 00:22:37,760 that are in the Dom camp for him to Catapult. I don't think that's happening. I don't think Chavon Evans is 263 00:22:37,760 --> 00:22:43,920 winning. I don't think J.U. So's winning though there could be a world where J.U. So does win and he 264 00:22:43,920 --> 00:22:48,000 takes on Cody Rhodes at Summerslam because that's been a little bit of a storyline and I would not 265 00:22:48,000 --> 00:22:53,600 be a huge fan of that. LA Knight, he would have his eyes set on Roman Reigns for Summerslam. I don't think 266 00:22:53,600 --> 00:22:57,520 that's happening though. I think there's a case for him. I don't think there's a case for Finn Bauer 267 00:22:57,520 --> 00:23:04,160 to win unfortunately. Royce Keys is like one of the next guys that I could see winning basically is 268 00:23:04,160 --> 00:23:12,240 the guy that could take on Cody Rhodes. So I think those are the scenarios. I think Royce Keys, 269 00:23:12,800 --> 00:23:19,840 Cody Rhodes could be a scenario. Dom, Cody could be a scenario. I'll throw it out there. But maybe 270 00:23:19,840 --> 00:23:27,440 Oba and Roman at Summerslam leads to the big bloodline returning doctor, right? Yeah. 271 00:23:27,440 --> 00:23:34,880 You know, it was a couple, it was this past week or last week when the MFTs were beating up 272 00:23:34,880 --> 00:23:40,800 Damien Braze, our truth ran in, got cornered and then Royce Keys came out and they backed him off. 273 00:23:40,800 --> 00:23:46,000 Like, I almost felt like based on Damien Prius comments about like, look, I don't know if he's a 274 00:23:46,000 --> 00:23:51,040 maybe he's a friend or what, I don't trust the guy. Then it kind of made me go, yeah, I could see a 275 00:23:51,040 --> 00:23:58,800 Keys heel turn, but then like you can't have Royce Keys beat Cody because of Solo's help, 276 00:23:58,800 --> 00:24:05,840 because by default you would almost have to make Keys the leader of the new MFTs. So I can see them 277 00:24:05,840 --> 00:24:09,520 doing that and putting Royce Keys in this spot because he just had that match with Gunther, 278 00:24:10,080 --> 00:24:14,960 and he looks really, really strong at it. And you want to kind of capitalize on that momentum of 279 00:24:14,960 --> 00:24:22,640 a Sotispe. It is weird though with just who's not who's out of this tournament where you go, 280 00:24:22,640 --> 00:24:29,360 man, I just don't see anybody being Oba's the only one right now on paper when you look at maybe 281 00:24:29,360 --> 00:24:35,680 Jay Hussot. Oba and Jay are probably the only two people that can go, hey, these guys are legitimately 282 00:24:35,680 --> 00:24:41,840 on Roman and Cody's level. You could factor in LA Knight to a degree, but he's never won the big one. 283 00:24:41,840 --> 00:24:48,720 But just the way that everybody's been presented in LA Knight, typically they always have 284 00:24:48,720 --> 00:24:54,320 in fall short in big matches. So it's like, well, you only really have Oba and Jay, and if this is 285 00:24:54,320 --> 00:24:59,280 going to be a Summerslam main event level match, it's going to be for the world championship or the 286 00:24:59,280 --> 00:25:06,000 WWE Championship. You kind of want a guy that can kind of at least present themselves to be on the 287 00:25:06,000 --> 00:25:16,400 level of Roman and Cody. And right now that's really only Jay and Oba. Yeah, it's limited. It's certainly 288 00:25:16,400 --> 00:25:22,800 as limited with Seth going and not advancing. And I love Javan Evans. I think he's great. I think 289 00:25:22,800 --> 00:25:26,320 he's a future top star. I would have had him advance on Monday night. I don't think I would have 290 00:25:26,320 --> 00:25:33,440 pushed the vision storyline in that match, Dr. Trey. And maybe I would have saved that for the semi-finals. 291 00:25:33,440 --> 00:25:42,400 Yeah, I can see that. I mean, you also got to figure out what's going to, you know, the vision's 292 00:25:42,400 --> 00:25:48,320 down to two people. And the fact that you're still trying to portray this storyline out 293 00:25:48,320 --> 00:25:54,640 without anybody else joining the group right now is a little hard to take them serious. It's like 294 00:25:54,640 --> 00:26:01,840 it's just brought in Austin right now. So it's kind of like it's hard to keep advancing this narrative 295 00:26:01,840 --> 00:26:07,280 of, you know, Seth or anybody else kind of being the underdog against the vision. When right now, 296 00:26:07,280 --> 00:26:13,440 Seth's got the street profits in his corner. They kind of outnumber the vision. So until you get 297 00:26:13,440 --> 00:26:18,080 somebody to kind of join up with them, it doesn't make sense to kind of beat this up right now, 298 00:26:18,080 --> 00:26:25,520 like they're still doing. So the injury bug once again striking a good storyline is just one of those 299 00:26:25,520 --> 00:26:30,000 things in wrestling that always kind of hits you just out right at the wrong time. And that's kind of 300 00:26:30,000 --> 00:26:34,400 where we're at with the whole Seth envisioned thing right now. Yeah, it makes me think that eliminating 301 00:26:34,400 --> 00:26:39,680 Seth now means that day someone who's had issues with the vision in the past like an LA night, 302 00:26:39,680 --> 00:26:45,600 maybe advances on Smackdown on Friday. Because it would make sense that the LA night advances and they help 303 00:26:45,600 --> 00:26:53,600 him win over Seth Rollins or intersecting even Jay Uso in there. So maybe that's why Seth was 304 00:26:53,600 --> 00:27:00,000 removed. Looking at the queen of the ring size doctor, doctor side doctor, you've got Eosky versus 305 00:27:00,000 --> 00:27:04,480 for Cal Rodriguez in the semi's, live Morgan advances to the semi's after defeating Becky Lynch, 306 00:27:04,480 --> 00:27:08,640 Alexa Bliss and Chelsea Green on Raw. She will face the winner of Soul Rook, a live rival, 307 00:27:08,640 --> 00:27:14,960 Kerry, Charlotte Flare and Jade Carcill on Smackdown in the semi's. Who's your favorite right now to 308 00:27:14,960 --> 00:27:20,400 win the queen of the ring and the predictions for that match? I still feel like this is Eosky's to lose. 309 00:27:20,400 --> 00:27:27,280 See, there's part of me that really wants it to get to live in Raquel because I think they're 310 00:27:27,280 --> 00:27:31,920 also teasing Roxanne stepping away from the group and maybe going back to being a baby face, but I 311 00:27:31,920 --> 00:27:38,480 still think Raquel would be maybe just a different version, like maybe more the blue collar version of 312 00:27:38,480 --> 00:27:43,840 Rhea Ripley for those folks, you know, especially with all the love Triple A's getting in their 313 00:27:44,480 --> 00:27:49,440 advancement of the Hispanic community in WWE, you know, Penta, the others of the Triple A. 314 00:27:49,440 --> 00:27:58,480 It's like Eos and Rhea is compelling. Jade and Rhea three is compelling because at some point, 315 00:27:58,480 --> 00:28:06,240 you have to like Jade's got to get her revenge on Rhea otherwise. If Rhea beats Jade three times 316 00:28:06,240 --> 00:28:13,280 in a row, you're kind of killing off the Jade Misti at that point. So I might go back to 317 00:28:13,280 --> 00:28:18,080 citing with Jade in this tournament though, just so we get Jade, Rhea three at Summer Slammer, 318 00:28:18,080 --> 00:28:21,840 Jade can finally get to win. What do you think about the Charlotte Flair stuff? Because she's 319 00:28:21,840 --> 00:28:27,520 cutting promos in the ring saying that, you know, she has a guy set on Rhea Ripley. They've kind of 320 00:28:27,520 --> 00:28:32,880 held her off at bay for like the last year plus for her getting back in the world title picture. 321 00:28:32,880 --> 00:28:37,120 Is there a world that we live in where Charlotte Flair is the one that wins here? And that would 322 00:28:37,120 --> 00:28:43,520 fall in the category of like regaining right or reestablishing as a top star. Yes. I mean, it's kind of 323 00:28:43,520 --> 00:28:49,600 like when Charlotte came back and won the rumble. You just work, although she's in a, I guess she's in a 324 00:28:49,600 --> 00:28:57,040 different view of the fans now with this tag team with Alexa and her friendship with Rhea, 325 00:28:57,040 --> 00:29:06,160 then maybe she was back in, was it 2023? When she won the rumble? 25. 25. Last year. Yeah, and everybody hated, 326 00:29:06,160 --> 00:29:13,200 yeah, and everybody hated it. So it's, but we still got to get to Charlotte Rhea three on a big scale. 327 00:29:13,200 --> 00:29:22,000 Also, I just think that Charlotte turns on Alexa before she gets to Rhea. But then if that's the path 328 00:29:22,000 --> 00:29:29,040 they go, but I also can see them doing Charlotte and Jade and Rhea getting sidetracked by the JCJ 329 00:29:29,040 --> 00:29:36,080 group, you know, or whatever to kind of reestablish Jake is you still got, you know, even the 330 00:29:36,080 --> 00:29:42,000 undercarstead with Tiffany and Chelsea and the Nye and Lash and all those folks, you've got a really 331 00:29:42,000 --> 00:29:47,840 solid women's division from top to bottom. So maybe you get to the second dream match of Jade and 332 00:29:47,840 --> 00:29:53,440 Charlotte at Summer's Lamboit or not some not Summer's Lamboit. You get to that next dream match of 333 00:29:53,440 --> 00:29:59,200 Jade and Charlotte if Jade wins the tournament and Charlotte becomes the person to challenge her first. 334 00:29:59,200 --> 00:30:05,360 Interesting stuff with the King and Queen of the Ring tournaments right now. It's kind of like a real 335 00:30:05,360 --> 00:30:10,160 downtime in professional wrestling for the weekend where it's like 18 different PLE's taking place 336 00:30:10,160 --> 00:30:14,800 at the end of the month. But these tournaments that are taking place in WWE right now and AW are 337 00:30:14,800 --> 00:30:20,240 really intriguing and exciting. And I don't think there's any real clear cut winners, which makes 338 00:30:20,240 --> 00:30:27,600 it a good thing and unpredictable unless you look at maybe one of the finals of the AW Owen Hart Cup 339 00:30:27,600 --> 00:30:32,000 on the men's side and maybe even the women's side, which we shall discuss right now, Dr. Trey, 340 00:30:32,000 --> 00:30:37,760 as it is official. The men's final at Forbidden Door, the winner gets an AW World title match at All-In. 341 00:30:37,760 --> 00:30:45,520 It will be Will Ospreay taking on Swerve, Strickland. This just feels like to me that this is time 342 00:30:45,520 --> 00:30:51,920 for Ospreay to get his London, All-In, World title match, the Death Rider storyline, 343 00:30:51,920 --> 00:30:58,400 reestablishing him as this ultimate weapon. It just feels like all things, it's inevitable and 344 00:30:58,400 --> 00:31:05,280 all things are pointing towards Will Ospreay. Ospreay, Swerve, who should headline an AW All-In? 345 00:31:05,280 --> 00:31:11,280 Is there a world where Swerve upsets or shocks us, I should say, because him winning is not an upset 346 00:31:11,280 --> 00:31:18,160 by any means. He shocks us by winning the match. Ospreay goes in different directions. Swerve takes 347 00:31:18,160 --> 00:31:24,880 on MJF, presumably at All-In, in London, and we get the rebirth of Swerve here. What are your thoughts 348 00:31:24,880 --> 00:31:30,800 of the direction of the finals of the men's side of the Owen Hart Cup? I mean, right now on paper, 349 00:31:30,800 --> 00:31:36,880 it's Ospreay to MJF in London. I mean, that's just, but, you know, because the one thing by AW I love is 350 00:31:36,880 --> 00:31:41,920 that you start getting these matches, but then they'll jump in another match or two before the 351 00:31:41,920 --> 00:31:47,520 advertised main match at the Bay Riverview. You know, we got this match coming up at Forbidden Door, 352 00:31:47,520 --> 00:31:54,880 the 6 on 6, Cage match with Team Briscoe versus Team MJF, and at Briscoe wins, he gets a title shot. 353 00:31:54,880 --> 00:32:01,360 And it's like, what if Briscoe wins, and then Briscoe wins the World title? Do you then 354 00:32:01,360 --> 00:32:09,120 headline all in with Swerve versus Mark Briscoe? It seems a little odd that that's even a sub-story, 355 00:32:09,120 --> 00:32:15,440 you know, pretzels. But yeah, if I'm booking AW, that's my Hogan and Piper, his Ospreay and MJF, 356 00:32:15,440 --> 00:32:21,200 and they win, but he's stating it all in, in London, that's absolutely the direction you go, because 357 00:32:21,200 --> 00:32:24,400 you know it's going to be a sellout because everybody's going to want to come see the hometown boy, 358 00:32:24,400 --> 00:32:30,400 win the title, but then that would be the best part of being the Swerve where Moxley costs 359 00:32:30,400 --> 00:32:35,680 Ospreay the match and MJF retains. That could be something there, or even the match with Swerve, 360 00:32:35,680 --> 00:32:42,240 that he has, could lead to something, and then we get Swerve and MJF. These two guys are very great. 361 00:32:42,240 --> 00:32:47,280 So, yeah, I just don't see Swerve and MJF with both guys kind of being heels. 362 00:32:47,280 --> 00:32:52,640 I think AEW started to realize, like, yeah, when we do the big matches, we kind of got to do more 363 00:32:52,640 --> 00:32:58,960 babyface heel than two baby faces or two heels, because we've seen that reaction at their big shows 364 00:32:58,960 --> 00:33:04,560 when they do the babyface, two baby faces, the crowd split and they're just not into it. You want 365 00:33:04,560 --> 00:33:11,680 that reaction of Will Ospreay making his entrance in Wimbley Stadium heading into the main event 366 00:33:11,680 --> 00:33:19,280 against MJF, like you want that. Like, if you have Swerve and MJF, the crowd's probably going to, like, 367 00:33:19,280 --> 00:33:24,880 start emotionally checking out before the main event. Whatever Ospreay is doing is going to be the 368 00:33:24,880 --> 00:33:30,480 focal point for that crowd in Wimbley. So, you want to hang him to the main event, and you put him in 369 00:33:30,480 --> 00:33:36,880 there with an MJF, who everybody despises. I'm everybody you can't see it, but it's the ultimate 370 00:33:36,880 --> 00:33:43,200 good guy in that area against the ultimate villain. Now, whatever you decide if you want to do the 371 00:33:43,200 --> 00:33:47,360 dusty finish or Swerve the audience at the end, that's completely up to the booking team, but 372 00:33:48,000 --> 00:33:55,280 that entrance of Will Ospreay in Wimbley going into the main event, like, that is the visual that you 373 00:33:55,280 --> 00:34:01,600 want to have on all your social media showing how hyped the crowd is. Hey, this establishes us, 374 00:34:01,600 --> 00:34:09,040 we're not a, we're not number two, we're a 1B. Like that for those casual fans, that would really 375 00:34:09,040 --> 00:34:14,080 kind of cement it like, oh crap, look at this crowd, look at this reaction for this guy. I 376 00:34:14,080 --> 00:34:19,040 guys are checking the show out more because that would be everywhere on social media with that, 377 00:34:19,040 --> 00:34:26,560 if you set it up that way. Yeah, no, I love to play devil's advocate here, no pun intended with MJF, 378 00:34:26,560 --> 00:34:30,640 being involved in the conversation and see is there a world where Swerve does win and we get Swerve 379 00:34:30,640 --> 00:34:35,840 MJF or maybe they do like Swerve, Mark Brisco, even, since Brisco's involved in the World title 380 00:34:35,840 --> 00:34:43,600 picture, at least with MJF right now, it would be a really bad business if Will Ospreay is not in 381 00:34:43,600 --> 00:34:47,200 that World title match based on everything that's taking place with the neck injury, the rebirth, 382 00:34:47,200 --> 00:34:54,080 the re-strategizing, re-characterization of him with the deathwriters, that would be not a good move 383 00:34:54,080 --> 00:34:59,200 for AW and an all momentum feels like very similar to Swerve several years ago when he was coming up. 384 00:34:59,200 --> 00:35:03,520 All feels like that this is pointing the direction of Will Ospreay to win the Owen Hart Cup. 385 00:35:03,520 --> 00:35:09,600 And then in similar vein on the women side, Dr. Trey, we've got the semi-finals with Huzuki 386 00:35:09,600 --> 00:35:15,360 taking on Mercedes-Bonae, Athena taking on Maya World. To me, Dr. Trey, this just feels like the 387 00:35:15,360 --> 00:35:20,880 women's tournament is being set up from Mercedes-Bonae to win again. And I think that's a little bit of a drag. 388 00:35:20,880 --> 00:35:28,720 As I said before, I'm a believer in like using this as a catapult or re-establishing stars that are 389 00:35:28,720 --> 00:35:34,320 on the come-up ends. I don't think Mercedes-Bonae, hey, is needs a catapult. I don't think she's a re-emerging 390 00:35:34,320 --> 00:35:39,760 star that needs to come up ends. So, I don't know, it just doesn't feel like the women's tournament is 391 00:35:39,760 --> 00:35:45,600 as exciting as the men's tournament and the men's and women's tournaments on the WWE side have been. 392 00:35:45,600 --> 00:35:49,680 So, who did you say Mercedes is wrestling in the semi-finals? 393 00:35:49,680 --> 00:35:52,480 Uh, Huzuki. Who's from Stardom? 394 00:35:52,480 --> 00:35:54,240 I'm sorry. Bless you. 395 00:35:54,240 --> 00:35:55,280 By the Huzuki. 396 00:35:55,280 --> 00:35:56,240 Yeah. 397 00:35:56,240 --> 00:36:02,560 I have seen, to me, this sets up for like an Athena Mercedes-Bonae finals and then you're like 398 00:36:03,200 --> 00:36:10,960 but Theclis, your women's champion, Theclis the heel, Athena and Mercedes typically are heels. 399 00:36:10,960 --> 00:36:16,480 Why would you set it up that way? Like that, what I saw is I'm like that doesn't make a lot of sense to 400 00:36:16,480 --> 00:36:24,240 me because once again, like Theclis not and she's not from London. So it's not like she has a hometown 401 00:36:24,240 --> 00:36:29,760 advantage, neither is Mercedes or Athena. So, I don't understand the booking now unless you're 402 00:36:29,760 --> 00:36:36,080 gonna make Mercedes go back to Morpher babyface Sasha Banks character. But once again, 403 00:36:36,080 --> 00:36:41,040 you've had a Athena be your ring of honor women world champion for almost three years now. 404 00:36:41,040 --> 00:36:47,440 Like at some point don't you gotta kind of move her up the food chain? Like I just don't get the set-up 405 00:36:47,440 --> 00:36:52,320 when you're like this is, just go by what I'm saying. Two people that the crowd typically booze in a 406 00:36:52,320 --> 00:36:58,240 match. What does the crowd do? Just boo louder? I don't really know what the upside is when you 407 00:36:58,880 --> 00:37:05,040 set up a scenario like this. So, if we're trying to get to Mercedes and Theclis great, 408 00:37:05,040 --> 00:37:11,600 but I just don't understand why and that's the biggest issue I have with that side of the turn. 409 00:37:11,600 --> 00:37:19,120 Yeah, no, it's um, I don't know the Surrey injury may have something to play with this because 410 00:37:19,120 --> 00:37:27,040 she's out with injury Surrey who was in WWE for a period of time. I'm the NXT brand with a horrible 411 00:37:27,040 --> 00:37:33,120 gimmick at one point. My world had to fill in for her which just tells me that Sky Blue wasn't supposed 412 00:37:33,120 --> 00:37:38,000 to advance anyway and Surrey was because that wouldn't make sense because you would have, 413 00:37:38,000 --> 00:37:44,160 you wouldn't have Mercedes-Benz and Athena in the finals as you said, heel versus heel. 414 00:37:44,160 --> 00:37:53,440 I don't know. Monay versus Tecla at all in. Again, heel versus heel. I don't know if I've any 415 00:37:53,440 --> 00:38:00,320 interest in that. They've been playing for around for a very long time of of catapulting Athena 416 00:38:00,320 --> 00:38:07,760 because she's been the R.O.H. Women's Champion for like 1100 days now. I mean, I would have pulled 417 00:38:07,760 --> 00:38:13,600 that trigger years ago. I think a year or two ago, the all in Texas one. I would have last year. 418 00:38:13,600 --> 00:38:18,560 I would have done that and they didn't. So, that is that's a little bit cloudy right now and 419 00:38:18,560 --> 00:38:22,000 where things go from here. It just feels like with the vignettes and everything that's been going 420 00:38:22,000 --> 00:38:27,200 on that this has been used to reintroduce and welcome back one Mercedes-Benz. He was not acting 421 00:38:27,200 --> 00:38:32,880 like a baby face and is acting like a heel all over again. So, intriguing stuff in storylines with 422 00:38:32,880 --> 00:38:38,640 both the King Queen and Owen Hart Cup tournaments in WWE and AEW right now which is really helping 423 00:38:38,640 --> 00:38:43,760 progress things in the world professional wrestling over the last month or at least in the last 424 00:38:43,760 --> 00:38:48,160 week I should say unless you're looking at some random stupid CM Punk rumor that he's leaving WWE 425 00:38:48,160 --> 00:38:56,000 that was proven to be not be true whatsoever. Last thing here Dr. Trey, another banner for 426 00:38:56,000 --> 00:39:04,240 El Grande Americano versus OG El Grande Americano as they are now the highest rated match ever 427 00:39:04,240 --> 00:39:11,520 under the WWE umbrella for wrestling observer by Dave Meltzer. He graded them a 5.75s for passing 428 00:39:11,520 --> 00:39:17,120 the 5.5 from Johnny Gargano versus Adam Cole at NXC Takeover New York. Actually a match that 429 00:39:17,120 --> 00:39:23,360 you and I watched here on one of the very few episodes of SRTU watch that we have put out many many years 430 00:39:23,360 --> 00:39:30,720 ago during the pandemic. The 5 matches under the WWE umbrella to ever surpass 5 stars from Meltzer 431 00:39:30,720 --> 00:39:35,920 which is a very hard thing to do because it's Dave Meltzer. Adam Cole, Johnny Gargano as I just 432 00:39:35,920 --> 00:39:43,440 mentioned Adam Cole versus Johnny Gargano NXC Takeover 25 was 5.25 Walter versus Tyler Bait in 433 00:39:43,440 --> 00:39:51,920 NXC UK Takeover card if was 5.25 Walter versus Ely Dragon off at NXC Takeover 36 was 5.25 El Grande 434 00:39:51,920 --> 00:39:59,680 Americano OG El Grande Americano with Triple A No. J. DeLos Grande is the 5.75 marking the highest 435 00:39:59,680 --> 00:40:07,040 under the WWE banner. Dr. Trey, is this all warranted because I watched the match you watched the 436 00:40:07,040 --> 00:40:17,440 match or is the hype a little bit too much looking back at this match now? I so by the way as you're 437 00:40:17,440 --> 00:40:21,520 reading those off I know is that none of those are actually on the main roster. I thought it's all 438 00:40:21,520 --> 00:40:30,080 either NXC, NXC Europe or Triple A so Meltzer does love his foreign or subculture matches so speak. 439 00:40:31,040 --> 00:40:38,800 I still I love this match I went back every watch and I'm like to me this is what professional 440 00:40:38,800 --> 00:40:46,960 wrestling was when I grew up. Now maybe a couple too many high spots you know but it's storytelling 441 00:40:46,960 --> 00:40:54,640 there's violence there's friendships there's a love angle it's two guys looking physical like they 442 00:40:54,640 --> 00:41:02,240 beat the hell out of each other in that match. I absolutely love this match so I don't have Meltzer 443 00:41:02,240 --> 00:41:08,160 hyping it up that much because I right now like as we as we we're probably what one show two or 444 00:41:08,160 --> 00:41:13,600 just a couple shows out from our halfway point it's my early favorite from match of the year like 445 00:41:13,600 --> 00:41:21,120 to me it really was that good I really really thoroughly enjoyed it. You know matches are different 446 00:41:21,120 --> 00:41:28,080 strokes for different folks right like I think when I look at the history of this podcast matches 447 00:41:28,080 --> 00:41:34,400 that stick out to me Bailey versus Sasha Banks NXC takeover Brooklyn there was a Pete Don Tyler 448 00:41:34,400 --> 00:41:39,360 bait match and an NXC takeover that was amazing Adam Colin Jatigargano and NXC takeover New York was 449 00:41:39,360 --> 00:41:46,160 amazing. Kofi Kingston versus Daniel Bryan was phenomenal and this is all just on the WWE side of 450 00:41:46,160 --> 00:41:52,320 things since we're just talking to the least we're passing five stars. CM Punk versus John Cena on 451 00:41:52,320 --> 00:42:01,440 a Monday night Raw and like 2012 I want to say was amazing. I loved this match I loved El Grande 452 00:42:01,440 --> 00:42:08,880 Americana versus OG I think the biggest thing that left me not fully appreciating and this is entirely 453 00:42:08,880 --> 00:42:14,880 my fault Dr. Trey is I didn't understand the build up because I don't watch AAA on a consistent 454 00:42:14,880 --> 00:42:22,480 basis it's not part of my regular viewing it's I don't watch it at all. So it's it's it's um 455 00:42:22,480 --> 00:42:28,400 it's disappointing for me because I think if I was able to see that added layer I could appreciate 456 00:42:28,400 --> 00:42:34,000 the storyline a little bit more rather than just jumping into the match so I think it's a leading 457 00:42:34,000 --> 00:42:39,680 candidate for a match of the year on this podcast on the WWE side of things without a doubt 458 00:42:39,680 --> 00:42:46,160 but I just think for me I don't put it in the same vein as some of the other matches um that I just 459 00:42:46,160 --> 00:42:52,400 discussed there in the history of this podcast. Yeah no and I guess like for me when I'm growing up 460 00:42:52,400 --> 00:42:59,600 like you grew up in an era where there weren't nearly as many masked wrestlers as there was when I 461 00:42:59,600 --> 00:43:05,840 was growing up like when I was a kid I mean five six years old like every show that I watched had 462 00:43:05,840 --> 00:43:14,880 you know the mass superstar or uh what was the one guy uh I mean just the dusty roads as the 463 00:43:14,880 --> 00:43:21,600 midnight rider like there's all these guys that were in mass and it became a big thing when that 464 00:43:21,600 --> 00:43:28,720 guy got on mass even going into WCW in the Cruiserway division and they made a big thing about 465 00:43:28,720 --> 00:43:35,040 who be getting on mass or Rey Mysterio getting on mass and how that was an important part of the 466 00:43:35,040 --> 00:43:42,080 luchaleebrae Mexican culture so it was a little bit funny to me on the sense of you like you have an 467 00:43:42,080 --> 00:43:47,040 American pretending to be a Mexican you have a German pretending to be an American pretending to be 468 00:43:47,040 --> 00:43:55,200 a Mexican and they're fighting over who loses their mask but like I said the other layers involved 469 00:43:55,200 --> 00:44:01,600 also helped me along there when you had you know the bravo and reo come out and then there's 470 00:44:01,600 --> 00:44:06,960 loads of medicanos her or her monos and they're out there and then you got the girlfriend of El 471 00:44:06,960 --> 00:44:14,240 Grande Americano and like you have all these different aspects of what soap opera television is as well 472 00:44:14,240 --> 00:44:21,520 plus two guys fighting over honor that to me is really what made me love professional wrestling even 473 00:44:21,520 --> 00:44:27,200 as a kid and watching that and seeing all those elements in there I was like now this is actually 474 00:44:27,200 --> 00:44:32,080 really really good even if you didn't know night I tell you at your point like if you didn't know the 475 00:44:32,080 --> 00:44:38,640 entire backstory it can limit your view and you're just watching it on the sheer wrestling side of it 476 00:44:38,640 --> 00:44:48,000 yeah it's the wrestling inside of it it's on par with gargano and adam col it's on par with gargano 477 00:44:48,000 --> 00:44:52,640 champa some of these are matches that you mentioned that we love so much the wrestling is on par with 478 00:44:52,640 --> 00:44:57,840 that but there was that backstory involved that kind of did amp it up from you a little more that 479 00:44:57,840 --> 00:45:01,680 reminded me of that nostalgia from when I first saw love with the professional wrestling 480 00:45:01,680 --> 00:45:06,960 yeah it's amazing stuff that match I hope it really leads to some great things for 481 00:45:06,960 --> 00:45:12,640 Ludwig Kaiser Chad Gable we saw it on this past week's editions of Smackdown and Raw where Chad 482 00:45:12,640 --> 00:45:18,160 Gable was a decent focal point regaining the trust of the fellow lucha doors and world wrestling 483 00:45:18,160 --> 00:45:25,360 entertainment on the Elgrande Americana stuff nothing that played out on the main roster which I 484 00:45:25,360 --> 00:45:29,520 think is a little bit disappointing so what I'd like to see in that carryover and either on Raw 485 00:45:29,520 --> 00:45:35,200 or Smackdown but yeah here we are it's it's a match that will be talked about for some time and 486 00:45:35,200 --> 00:45:41,520 it falls under the WWE banner despite it being triple A Elgrande Americana versus OG Elgrande 487 00:45:41,520 --> 00:45:46,720 Americana still getting a lot of praise and love from wrestling pundits all in the world of 488 00:45:46,720 --> 00:45:52,480
