- 0:00Speaker 1: I alway wanted to ask you this question. How'd you
- 0:01Speaker 1: come up with your name? Dad? In the corner with
- 0:03Speaker 1: the camera, And that's been cool. We're talking, you talking
- 0:07Speaker 1: smack or you you quietly. I'm over there coaching the coaches.
- 0:13Speaker 1: So I haven't dropped the album since twenty twenty four, correct,
- 0:16Speaker 1: And this is the longest I took a break. Usually
- 0:18Speaker 1: I dropped every year and been on tour every year,
- 0:21Speaker 1: but this time, around twenty twenty four, I had to
- 0:23Speaker 1: manage myself. So I'm on tour wearing multiple hats and
- 0:27Speaker 1: kind of took away from the creative side, and I'm
- 0:29Speaker 1: just learning how to balance it out. From twenty twenty
- 0:31Speaker 1: four to now. As soon as I got hot, I
- 0:34Speaker 1: kind of spreaded myself then in a sense, you know,
- 0:37Speaker 1: you think you do? You feel like you overdid it?
- 0:40Speaker 1: Bro So you right? Record engineer produced? So you one
- 0:48Speaker 1: stop shot man? She fucked you up? Yeah, But I
- 0:52Speaker 1: love questions like.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Push up Ben to Robert Win for Robert and you
- 0:55Speaker 2: know me, geez, you like me mental health chat talk
- 0:59Speaker 2: to me. Somebody got you fed up? Call and get
- 1:02Speaker 2: it off your mind. Catch us in there a turn

- 1:07Speaker 2: greatest shown Earth. Yeah it's the Bottle of Alert. Yeah,

- 1:13Speaker 2: Welcome to the Greatest shown Nerve. Yeah it's the Bottle Alert. Yeah,
- 1:17Speaker 2: it's the Battle Alert. Yeah, it's the Battle Alert.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Broadcasts a live from the Nagro Law Firm Studios. Welcome
- 1:26Speaker 1: to the Ball Alert Show. My name is Ferrie Simmons.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Blasted the building. What so, what's up? What's up? Broill.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Good to see you man, big fan, big fans to
- 1:36Speaker 1: be back. How long are you in the city. I'm
- 1:39Speaker 1: actually leaving back to New York tomorrow, so I was
- 1:41Speaker 1: only out here for like two days doing press. Yeah, press,
- 1:45Speaker 1: and I had a meet and greet from my album
- 1:47Speaker 1: at the record store at Crates Crates. Yeah, that's that's
- 1:50Speaker 1: a good location to do too. It was a good
- 1:52Speaker 1: vibe in there. Man. Listen. I feel like you're one
- 1:56Speaker 1: of those artists that Atlanta appreciates. There's an appreciation for Blasts.
- 2:02Speaker 3: I think it's his lyricism. He's easy to connect to.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Okay, it's good to listen to as well. Thank you.
- 2:08Speaker 1: I'm not really big R and B. I like like
- 2:12Speaker 1: hardcore rap. Yeah, but I like to enjoy your music. Man.
- 2:17Speaker 1: I'm glad I can play my small little role. Man,
- 2:19Speaker 1: I'm trying to ask. It's an important role in my life.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Thank you. So we definitely listened in my house. We
- 2:25Speaker 1: listen to you a lot. That's what's up. I'm trying
- 2:28Speaker 1: to save relationships out here. Now. I know I'm an
- 2:32Speaker 1: ask but she's going to probably indulge more. How's your
- 2:35Speaker 1: energy today. I'm a little over stimulated, but I know
- 2:39Speaker 1: I'm in a I know I'm in a loving space
- 2:42Speaker 1: right now. So I'm straight. I think it's one day
- 2:46Speaker 1: at a time, but I try to embrace every emotion
- 2:49Speaker 1: and not dwell on it, but still be aware of
- 2:51Speaker 1: the emotion that I do feel.
- 2:53Speaker 4: You know, I love the awareness, black man, because it's
- 2:56Speaker 4: so rare.
- 2:58Speaker 3: It's so rare to even acknowledge. You get overstimulated too, man,
- 3:01Speaker 3: It's not just the women.
- 3:03Speaker 4: And I love that you say that because I think
- 3:05Speaker 4: it's genuine and it's pure and people are missing that.
- 3:08Speaker 4: They're missing that type of conversation and dialogue. And I
- 3:11Speaker 4: think that as an artist sometimes, especially when you're doing
- 3:14Speaker 4: these press runs and you're engaging with so many different energies,
- 3:17Speaker 4: you know, not just your management.
- 3:19Speaker 3: You know, the people who you have to show up for.
- 3:21Speaker 3: You gotta vibe.
- 3:22Speaker 4: You gotta give them that good first impression, like they
- 3:24Speaker 4: don't acknowledge that how overstimulating that can be. So I
- 3:27Speaker 4: love that you said that. So spiritually, do you feel
- 3:29Speaker 4: like you're kind of like finding a balance.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Toward Yeah, I think I think even me being aware
- 3:36Speaker 1: of it is is growth for me, you know, But
- 3:39Speaker 1: also it's ups and downs and everything. So I'm cool
- 3:43Speaker 1: with the fact of how I feel like I know
- 3:45Speaker 1: how to manage through it. But I'm still aware of it,
- 3:47Speaker 1: you know, and I'm still adapting. I'm not like a
- 3:49Speaker 1: social butterfly. You feel me, so each engagement I try
- 3:54Speaker 1: to make it, you know, meaningful and just be present
- 3:58Speaker 1: at least this time around. When I first got in
- 4:00Speaker 1: the industry, I was just doing everything, just my head
- 4:03Speaker 1: in the clouds. But now I just want to feel
- 4:05Speaker 1: everything and be grateful for the opportunities that I get.
- 4:09Speaker 1: But it's still some down moments even in that too.
- 4:13Speaker 4: You feel different, like from the first time we ever
- 4:16Speaker 4: sat down and we had a conversation and we get alive,
- 4:19Speaker 4: Like you express like how antisocial and just kind of
- 4:23Speaker 4: like you were getting adjusted to the industry. And I
- 4:26Speaker 4: can hear and even the growth in the way that
- 4:28Speaker 4: you speak. So let me be a person to reaffirm
- 4:30Speaker 4: that too, Like you're growing. You're growing, and it's noticed
- 4:34Speaker 4: and it's felt for sure, And I think that that
- 4:36Speaker 4: is what is going to allow you to capitalize off
- 4:38Speaker 4: these next chapters of your career is just being able
- 4:41Speaker 4: to not only be aware, because awareness is nine tenths
- 4:44Speaker 4: of the law, you know, and I think you being
- 4:46Speaker 4: able to acknowledge it and then kind of grow through
- 4:49Speaker 4: it and then learn different.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Ways to adapt for yourself.
- 4:52Speaker 4: It's going to take you like light years ahead, yeah
- 4:54Speaker 4: for sure.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Now all my notes, you wrote and produced everything on
- 4:59Speaker 1: labor of blah. Yeah, the top to bottom. Proud of it.
- 5:02Speaker 1: That's a lot of work. Yeah, because usually sometimes I
- 5:06Speaker 1: mean an artist like yourself, you can give and take
- 5:09Speaker 1: from maybe producers and songwriters. But to do it all
- 5:14Speaker 1: by yourself. How did that mentally take a take you
- 5:19Speaker 1: through the whole motion of the project. I would say
- 5:21Speaker 1: since twenty twenty four, I started managing myself, okay, and
- 5:26Speaker 1: it really gave me time to just like you know,
- 5:30Speaker 1: spend more time with your family. Managing yourself is a
- 5:34Speaker 1: lot too. Yeah, it's a lot. I mean, I'm still
- 5:37Speaker 1: going through it right now. And I don't say that
- 5:38Speaker 1: in a sense of like I take pride in managing myself.
- 5:41Speaker 1: It's just the current state that a man in my career.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Is there a reason why I feel might be asking
- 5:47Speaker 1: I'm not even finna get into all. Okay, say less okay,
- 5:50Speaker 1: but in a nutshell, it gave me. So I haven't
- 5:55Speaker 1: dropped the album since twenty twenty four, correct, and it's
- 5:57Speaker 1: the longest I took a break. Usually I dropped every
- 5:59Speaker 1: year and being on tour every year, but this time
- 6:02Speaker 1: around twenty twenty four, I had to manage myself. So
- 6:05Speaker 1: I'm on tour wearing multiple hats and kind of took
- 6:08Speaker 1: away from the creative side and I'm just learning how
- 6:10Speaker 1: to balance it out from twenty twenty four to now.
- 6:13Speaker 1: But by the grace of God, I got an opportunity
- 6:15Speaker 1: to make this project and just be more present and
- 6:18Speaker 1: connect back to the roots of the fans that fell
- 6:21Speaker 1: in love with me in the first place. And that
- 6:24Speaker 1: was me being in control of me being a producer
- 6:27Speaker 1: and the output that I was putting out and I
- 6:29Speaker 1: think like from twenty twenty to twenty twenty four it
- 6:35Speaker 1: just felt so fast and like a blur where I
- 6:39Speaker 1: was working with different people, meeting a lot of people
- 6:41Speaker 1: fresh in the industry. In twenty twenty four to twenty
- 6:44Speaker 1: twenty six, it felt like I was back to me. Okay,
- 6:48Speaker 1: I'm back to my family, having conversations on a deeper level,
- 6:52Speaker 1: looking myself in a mirror, and just being a human again,
- 6:55Speaker 1: going to places by myself, not feeling like I gotta
- 6:58Speaker 1: have security or feeling like I got to dress or
- 7:00Speaker 1: be a certain character that I'm not. And the error
- 7:04Speaker 1: just felt like a labor of love, you know, And
- 7:07Speaker 1: it was intentional, and I wanted every piece to feel
- 7:11Speaker 1: like that for me producing it. I wanted to have
- 7:15Speaker 1: every detail be from authentically me.
- 7:17Speaker 4: You know, you can tell with like even the way
- 7:21Speaker 4: you articulate, like the labor in love, and like how
- 7:24Speaker 4: it's important it is to show up. So hearing you
- 7:27Speaker 4: say like the behind the scenes of what you're doing
- 7:30Speaker 4: as an artist, it kind of takes my introspection because
- 7:32Speaker 4: as I was listening to the album, it's like, I'm thinking,
- 7:35Speaker 4: you're talking about just love and showing up in relationships
- 7:38Speaker 4: and you know, being who you are need to be there.
- 7:40Speaker 4: But like I can hear the labor of love and
- 7:43Speaker 4: even showing up for yourself, you know, showing up for
- 7:45Speaker 4: your career, your dreams, still being a father. Like, how
- 7:48Speaker 4: do you feel like you're finding kind of like wholesomeness
- 7:52Speaker 4: in this new chapter of your life? Because I understand
- 7:54Speaker 4: it could be overwhelming, So like, how are you showing
- 7:56Speaker 4: up for you?
- 7:58Speaker 1: How am I showing up for me? I think just
- 8:00Speaker 1: being honest with myself whenever I feel however, I feel
- 8:05Speaker 1: learning how to put me first. I haven't mastered it,
- 8:08Speaker 1: but I just know that if I love myself, then
- 8:11Speaker 1: it's easier to give love. You know, it's a daily process,
- 8:16Speaker 1: but you know I start with my body and soul.
- 8:19Speaker 1: So one of my exercises is working out. You know
- 8:22Speaker 1: that starting my day like that always take me a
- 8:25Speaker 1: longer way because for me, it's like if I start
- 8:30Speaker 1: my day off doing the hardest thing, everything else becomes easier.
- 8:35Speaker 3: I love that.
- 8:36Speaker 1: What's something on the project that you don't want your
- 8:39Speaker 1: fans to overlook? Is there a song that you be like,
- 8:43Speaker 1: I want you to listen to this one. I mean,
- 8:47Speaker 1: I want them to listen to the whole project. But
- 8:50Speaker 1: I would say overall, I don't want people to overlook
- 8:54Speaker 1: the fact that I'm a human outside of just an artist,
- 8:57Speaker 1: you know, because I know that perception of an artist
- 9:02Speaker 1: or celebrity. I never really connected to that. I always
- 9:05Speaker 1: looked at myself as an everyday person who just so
- 9:09Speaker 1: happened to do music, and the music is a soundtrack
- 9:12Speaker 1: to my life, for sure.
- 9:15Speaker 4: I think that something about you that I appreciate as
- 9:17Speaker 4: an artist is like when you are going through and
- 9:20Speaker 4: listening from front to back to the album, because you're
- 9:22Speaker 4: one of those people who you can do that with,
- 9:24Speaker 4: Like it feels like a conversation, like you're kind of
- 9:27Speaker 4: like walking through different chapters of what you're doing. So
- 9:29Speaker 4: I think that in hearing you say that, that's the
- 9:31Speaker 4: part that you want people to.
- 9:33Speaker 3: Get, like your humanism definitely comes out because it's like
- 9:36Speaker 3: you couldn't see yourself.
- 9:37Speaker 4: Going through like different different conversations that you're having, or
- 9:40Speaker 4: different parts of your life that you may be conquering.
- 9:43Speaker 4: And I think that's kind of what brings the completedness
- 9:45Speaker 4: to the project too.
- 9:46Speaker 3: So I think if to a person who gets it,
- 9:48Speaker 3: they gonna get it.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Man, I'm big on that, like just the intimacy or
- 9:52Speaker 1: like feeling like the album is like I'm sitting next
- 9:57Speaker 1: to you when I'm talking about in these songs, like
- 9:59Speaker 1: it's a real convers.
- 10:00Speaker 3: That's what it feels like, That's what it gets.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Yeah, now you did the breakdown from twenty twenty to
- 10:05Speaker 1: twenty twenty four. What's the lesson that you learned from
- 10:11Speaker 1: twenty twenty to twenty twenty four. So use my voice,
- 10:15Speaker 1: you know, state my opinion. Don't just go with the
- 10:17Speaker 1: flow of things, even if you may become wrong at
- 10:23Speaker 1: the end of the day, at least you could be
- 10:24Speaker 1: comfortable with the fact that you you know, you put
- 10:27Speaker 1: your energy out there. Because a lot of times I
- 10:30Speaker 1: was just quiet, going with the flow of things, okay,
- 10:32Speaker 1: and then I get to a point where I'm mad
- 10:34Speaker 1: at myself because I felt a lack of control when
- 10:37Speaker 1: I could have did something in the first place. So
- 10:39Speaker 1: now I try to take accountability of my power in
- 10:43Speaker 1: the things that I say and how it adds to
- 10:45Speaker 1: any situation. You have a good show too, by the way,
- 10:49Speaker 1: because I never figured I was in Tampa at a
- 10:53Speaker 1: radio station I used to work with doing the activation
- 10:57Speaker 1: with DTLR one type of DTLR, and you were ad
- 11:00Speaker 1: I forgot the name of the concert, but you were
- 11:02Speaker 1: one of the performers and the crowd just you had
- 11:05Speaker 1: you did, you had great stage presence. Man, Thank you.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Do you work on your show? I do? I do.
- 11:12Speaker 1: I take rehearsal very serious. Okay okay. I came up
- 11:15Speaker 1: in the camp where it was like twelve different artists
- 11:18Speaker 1: and it was kind of like a making making of
- 11:20Speaker 1: the band type situation. We had to stink called you
- 11:24Speaker 1: worked the stage too, Thank you, Thank you. We had
- 11:26Speaker 1: to stink called sixteen twenty one, and it was a
- 11:31Speaker 1: practice where you had to write a sixteen bar vers
- 11:33Speaker 1: a day and then you had to go sell CDs,
- 11:37Speaker 1: so you got to make at least twenty dollars selling CDs,
- 11:40Speaker 1: and then you got to promote one hour on Twitter.
- 11:42Speaker 1: So we used to span people. So it's just this
- 11:45Speaker 1: work ethic that I like to apply, just to have
- 11:47Speaker 1: a system to, you know, keep sharpen in my iron
- 11:50Speaker 1: that was up.
- 11:51Speaker 4: It's like God was already kind of preparing you for
- 11:53Speaker 4: this season where.
- 11:54Speaker 3: It was going to kind of be on your back more.
- 11:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I like that proper preparation.
- 11:59Speaker 4: I got a question though, like in the seasons of transition,
- 12:02Speaker 4: especially when it's like you experience more overwhelmingness, over stimulation
- 12:06Speaker 4: and things like peace is a.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Really really big thing. So how do you protect your piece?
- 12:12Speaker 1: That's a good question. Yeah, how do you? How do
- 12:14Speaker 1: you protect your piece? Man, I could do a better
- 12:15Speaker 1: job of doing that, for sure. How do I protect
- 12:21Speaker 1: my peace? Do you set boundaries? Yeah? I mean I
- 12:27Speaker 1: exercise that no word more than ever more.
- 12:31Speaker 3: That's different.
- 12:31Speaker 1: That's my new my new word twenty twenty five. Twenty
- 12:34Speaker 1: twenty five, it was no for me. No will take
- 12:37Speaker 1: you a long way and reserve a lot of energy. Reserve. Yeah. Yeah,
- 12:40Speaker 1: So I think it's just as simple as that. So
- 12:43Speaker 1: you say no, you gotta say no, even if you
- 12:45Speaker 1: say yeah later. You gotta say no right now, just
- 12:48Speaker 1: so you can look my pr right now. I told
- 12:51Speaker 1: her no earlier today.
- 12:55Speaker 4: Yeah, I think too that saying yes to yourself and
- 12:58Speaker 4: replacement of yes to everybody else. It's like when you're
- 13:03Speaker 4: in the act of servitude and you want everybody to
- 13:05Speaker 4: be just happy and content with your movements, you know,
- 13:08Speaker 4: especially when you're in the industry, like people expect more
- 13:11Speaker 4: of you when you start to make it.
- 13:13Speaker 3: I think it's important. Like the caveat to that is
- 13:17Speaker 3: like I gotta say no to you, but I'm gonna
- 13:19Speaker 3: say yes to me.
- 13:19Speaker 4: I'm gonna say yes to doing the things that I
- 13:21Speaker 4: normally want to make the space to do when I'm saying.
- 13:23Speaker 3: Yes to you. So yeah, I think I think that's part.
- 13:26Speaker 1: Of the protective they you got five kids, so it's
- 13:28Speaker 1: easy for me to throw that in there. I'd be like, bruh,
- 13:32Speaker 1: I got five kids. No, hell no, hell nah. It's
- 13:37Speaker 1: to a point where I don't even get the questions
- 13:39Speaker 1: no more. I always wanted to ask you this question,
- 13:41Speaker 1: how did you come up with your name? I made
- 13:43Speaker 1: it up? Made We was asking Travis Porter the same thing.
- 13:47Speaker 1: We was like, bruh, it's three of y'all, how did
- 13:49Speaker 1: y'all come up with Travis Porter? It was like I
- 13:50Speaker 1: made it up. You just made up and made it
- 13:52Speaker 1: up on the fly. I was gonna change it, Like
- 13:54Speaker 1: as I got what was the name before Blast that
- 13:56Speaker 1: you was thinking about, It's always been Blast, So I
- 13:59Speaker 1: started making me like sixteen years old, it was Blast,
- 14:02Speaker 1: and I was gonna change it because I'm like, this
- 14:03Speaker 1: ain't got no significance to like who I am okay, okay,
- 14:07Speaker 1: And then when I had kids, I'm like, you know,
- 14:09Speaker 1: Blast sound like a superhero name. It does, Yeah, it does.
- 14:13Speaker 4: And I think the combination with the eagle to like,
- 14:16Speaker 4: it's like the fly guy mentality. But there's a humbleness
- 14:20Speaker 4: to your spirit's like I feel like we'll always make
- 14:22Speaker 4: you sore.
- 14:24Speaker 1: She she she fucked with Kayla, she don't miss Why
- 14:29Speaker 1: do you spell it the way that you spell it?
- 14:33Speaker 1: I just wanted to just create it, you know, Okay, okay.
- 14:36Speaker 1: I was thinking of it on a like branding aspect,
- 14:40Speaker 1: you know, when you google it. I was just you
- 14:42Speaker 1: the first thing to its lot.
- 14:44Speaker 4: That's what caught my attention. The first time he ever
- 14:46Speaker 4: came across my playlist was the X. I'm like, how
- 14:49Speaker 4: do you enunciate this? Yeah, it's like a conversation, yes,
- 14:52Speaker 4: like it's a conversation starter for sure, No, for sure.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Okay, Well listen, man, I just appreciate you spending some
- 14:59Speaker 1: time with us. I know you leaving soon you had
- 15:02Speaker 1: anything else, big k big energy. I feel like we
- 15:05Speaker 1: was just getting warmed. I mean, we keep going going.
- 15:09Speaker 4: So my question to you is how many hours do
- 15:13Speaker 4: you think that you dedicated to this entire project.
- 15:18Speaker 3: You get everything.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know what I'm saying. I think that's
- 15:21Speaker 1: a that's a big project. If you produced and you wrote,
- 15:25Speaker 1: that makes you picky too, Yeah, but I was. I
- 15:28Speaker 1: was more intentional with this one versus my other projects.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Like I made exactly the amount of songs that you
- 15:34Speaker 1: hear from this album. But the tediousness of like mixing everything.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Do you do that part too? Yeah? Bro? So you
- 15:42Speaker 1: right record engineer, produce, so you one stop shot. You
- 15:49Speaker 1: don't need nobody. I mean, I mean, I said, but
- 15:53Speaker 1: now I'm understanding the importance of collaboration too. This project
- 15:58Speaker 1: was more so like a let me get it off
- 16:00Speaker 1: my chest, let me prove my point to myself, you know.
- 16:04Speaker 1: And then how I look at this is like the foundation,
- 16:08Speaker 1: Like this is a project to where I'm showing you
- 16:10Speaker 1: how I'm showing up as a man, like the things
- 16:12Speaker 1: I stand for and the error that I'm in, me
- 16:15Speaker 1: as a father, me in my relationships, me with my family,
- 16:20Speaker 1: and you know, now it's trying to spread my wings
- 16:22Speaker 1: and take it across the world. Do have a question,
- 16:26Speaker 1: because I suffer from this, I think we also offer
- 16:27Speaker 1: from this. How's your work life? Balance. How do you
- 16:30Speaker 1: balance work, how do you balance personal? How you balance
- 16:33Speaker 1: being a dad? Honestly, I feel like I can be
- 16:38Speaker 1: a little more outside. I'd be so isolated at the house.
- 16:41Speaker 1: I've been in father mode, like, which is a blessing,
- 16:44Speaker 1: you know, to go to my son's basketball games. I'm
- 16:47Speaker 1: the dad in the corner with the camera and that's
- 16:50Speaker 1: been cool. But you're talking, you talking, smack or you quiet.
- 16:53Speaker 1: I'm over there coaching the coaches. But I think it's
- 17:01Speaker 1: also my chat GBT started laughing. I need to pull
- 17:05Speaker 1: up my chat GBT and just started laughing. Y'all heard
- 17:07Speaker 1: that laugh? What the fuck? Go ahead about that? You
- 17:12Speaker 1: gotta watch that, man. That's crazy, man. But yeah, I
- 17:16Speaker 1: feel like I can, you know, just get back to
- 17:18Speaker 1: the work more and just getting outside more, mess on
- 17:22Speaker 1: my community, tapping in with the fans, tapping in with
- 17:25Speaker 1: different artists and producers, just creating that balance because I
- 17:29Speaker 1: don't want to just be one way, you know.
- 17:31Speaker 4: Yeah, I think even in that too, something to consider
- 17:36Speaker 4: is that you being more active in the things that
- 17:39Speaker 4: you love, like your kids and your life and just
- 17:42Speaker 4: like grounding yourself and being human too. That probably added
- 17:46Speaker 4: to even like you creatively as you were making the
- 17:48Speaker 4: music too.
- 17:49Speaker 3: And I feel like listening.
- 17:50Speaker 4: To the project front the back, you can hear it
- 17:52Speaker 4: like now that I'm hearing the story behind it.
- 17:54Speaker 3: It all makes sense.
- 17:55Speaker 4: It's like, dang, you really was carrying the whole project
- 17:58Speaker 4: on your back. But I think that that will make
- 18:00Speaker 4: it meaningful going forward too, because a great leader will
- 18:04Speaker 4: be able to speak to every part of the process.
- 18:07Speaker 4: And now that you've done everything, like you can literally
- 18:11Speaker 4: just think.
- 18:11Speaker 3: About that to yourself. You can say to yourself like.
- 18:13Speaker 4: I dropped an album and I did every you completed
- 18:16Speaker 4: every facet of that project. So it's like now you
- 18:20Speaker 4: can be selective because you know exactly what you need
- 18:23Speaker 4: to get where you're trying to go. So when you collaborate,
- 18:25Speaker 4: you can collaborate with intention instead of just the need.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a fact, and that's how I look at
- 18:30Speaker 1: it too, Like I have to make sure I have
- 18:33Speaker 1: my foundation before I start stepping into these rooms, because
- 18:37Speaker 1: I felt like it was the other way around before,
- 18:39Speaker 1: Like as soon as I got hot, I kind of
- 18:41Speaker 1: spreaded myself then in a sense, you know, you think
- 18:44Speaker 1: you do you feel like you overdid it. Yeah, you
- 18:48Speaker 1: know that I was doing hell of features and you know,
- 18:50Speaker 1: just giving everybody the sauce for sure, for sure, and
- 18:54Speaker 1: awareness of my own sauce, you know so, But you
- 18:57Speaker 1: know it's still more sauce to come. So being running down,
- 19:00Speaker 1: what's the intention of your studio time?
- 19:02Speaker 4: Are you?
- 19:03Speaker 1: Are you a loner in the studio or do you
- 19:05Speaker 1: need what type of energy do you have to be
- 19:07Speaker 1: surrounded by in the studio? Well, naturally, like who I am,
- 19:11Speaker 1: even outside of being an artist, I love being in isolation. Okay,
- 19:16Speaker 1: that's my bag, you know, so in the studio saying
- 19:20Speaker 1: nobody's gonna hear nothing until when when do you share
- 19:23Speaker 1: the music with? I got a couple of people, you know,
- 19:26Speaker 1: my circle that I share you will you text it?
- 19:28Speaker 1: Or do you got to hear the person? Okay, okay,
- 19:31Speaker 1: you gotta hear the person. Okay, that's just how I am. Okay,
- 19:35Speaker 1: But no one's no one's gonna be there with you
- 19:37Speaker 1: when you're creating, right right? Okay?
- 19:41Speaker 4: Do you feel like that's like a spiritual thing, like are.
- 19:43Speaker 3: You and God? Thing?
- 19:45Speaker 1: I think I don't know, it could be. I ain't
- 19:47Speaker 1: think that deeply of it, do you know?
- 19:50Speaker 3: I'm always thinking deep?
- 19:51Speaker 1: Yeah? Not for sure, but I think I just learned
- 19:55Speaker 1: how to be comfortable being alone. I'm the youngest sibling
- 19:59Speaker 1: out of three older sisters. It's just you're the only guy. Yeah,
- 20:02Speaker 1: the only boy. So it was a lot of like,
- 20:05Speaker 1: you know, that's my comfort too. They slip all your moms, Yeah, exactly,
- 20:09Speaker 1: three moms pushing baby. Yeah for sure. So sometimes I
- 20:12Speaker 1: gotta lean outside of isolation because I'd be so good
- 20:16Speaker 1: by myself to where the world don't even matter to me.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Any of your sisters do music too? My sisters? Yeah,
- 20:23Speaker 1: she was a rapper growing up. You know, she don't
- 20:27Speaker 1: really getting her bag like she used to, but maybe
- 20:29Speaker 1: one day. Yeah, I gotta get on, you know what
- 20:34Speaker 1: I'm saying. What's what's that conversation like? Cause you know,
- 20:37Speaker 1: I feel like your baby, bro, and I know she
- 20:40Speaker 1: proud of you, obviously, right, But what's that conversation like
- 20:43Speaker 1: with you know, having siblings and I know they support you,
- 20:46Speaker 1: But how how how how is the family dinners? And
- 20:50Speaker 1: how what does that look like? In the blast household? Man?
- 20:54Speaker 1: My family? When I get around my family, I become
- 20:57Speaker 1: so small. I'm still the same kid. Do y'all talk
- 20:59Speaker 1: music in their eyes? You know? We don't talk. Everything
- 21:03Speaker 1: is just back to regular.
- 21:04Speaker 3: Okay, that's probably good balance.
- 21:05Speaker 1: That's good balance. Man.
- 21:07Speaker 3: Shit like they're not looking at you like the superstar. Yeah,
- 21:11Speaker 3: like it's just this bro.
- 21:13Speaker 1: Oh, I get humble when I get in the house.
- 21:14Speaker 1: My wife don't call me Ferrari. She called me Sean,
- 21:18Speaker 1: And I'm straight dad. I was in the Addict yesterday.
- 21:21Speaker 1: I had a little leak. I'm replacing ship and doing
- 21:25Speaker 1: all types of stuff. So yeah, I mean, I'm not blast,
- 21:28Speaker 1: but I understand the it's normal that balance.
- 21:33Speaker 3: You gotta come out of. Like even who was it
- 21:36Speaker 3: too Short?
- 21:36Speaker 1: We were talking, yeah, talking to too Short.
- 21:38Speaker 4: He was talking about just the fact that it's like
- 21:40Speaker 4: too Short is a character. He's like, and I'm still
- 21:42Speaker 4: me so when I show up to these interviews. The
- 21:45Speaker 4: context was he was just talking about how like artists
- 21:47Speaker 4: will come on and they'll talk, but they'll act like
- 21:50Speaker 4: their conversation has to be minimalist. And he's like, you know,
- 21:53Speaker 4: you gotta let people feel you. You gotta let them
- 21:55Speaker 4: feel who you really are, because you know that is
- 21:57Speaker 4: what gets them in little.
- 21:58Speaker 3: Support of the character that you've created.
- 22:00Speaker 4: But the character is the character, and you're still you Damn,
- 22:03Speaker 4: that's a great way to put it off.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Definitely, I think I definitely think your music is as
- 22:08Speaker 1: authentic as possible. Just being hearing music all the day,
- 22:13Speaker 1: all the time. I can hear records that i'd be
- 22:15Speaker 1: like all right, but when I hear your music, I
- 22:20Speaker 1: feel it pausing to get I ain't as deep as Kleb,
- 22:27Speaker 1: but I'm I hear authentic music. With your music, you
- 22:31Speaker 1: feel me so like it's definitely you're definitely one of one.
- 22:35Speaker 1: You're you're You're in your own You're in your own lane.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Thank you. I don't take that lightly, man, No, for sure, bro. Like,
- 22:42Speaker 1: remember we had the radio station, bro, so we're interviewing
- 22:44Speaker 1: artists all day every day. I was excited when Jay
- 22:47Speaker 1: hit me and was like you get black, I was like,
- 22:49Speaker 1: fuck yeah.
- 22:51Speaker 4: I just told him that I said when they said
- 22:53Speaker 4: you was coming, I couldn't weak because.
- 22:54Speaker 1: I'm like, yes, I probably have more questions, but I'm slick,
- 22:57Speaker 1: fanned out on the low. I'm just I'm really a
- 23:01Speaker 1: fan of your music, bro, Like you're dope. I appreciate that.
- 23:04Speaker 4: I think every one of your albums there is like
- 23:07Speaker 4: because you're so authentic and you're the genuine nature of
- 23:11Speaker 4: your spirit comes out, and like, now hearing the way
- 23:13Speaker 4: that you create, it makes sense because.
- 23:15Speaker 1: It makes sense.
- 23:16Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, it's like.
- 23:17Speaker 4: You're solo creating, and it's like it's you're really putting
- 23:20Speaker 4: like that's your labor of love. Like you're putting yourself,
- 23:22Speaker 4: your heart, your spirit, like your thoughts, your mind, like
- 23:26Speaker 4: probably some of even your insecurity all into the project.
- 23:29Speaker 4: So I think that that's dope to kind of hear
- 23:32Speaker 4: you vocalize that too.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Sure, as a fan, I always wanted to know, like
- 23:35Speaker 1: what's your recording process and how do you you know,
- 23:38Speaker 1: curate your your genre of music. Do you even like
- 23:42Speaker 1: do you consider yourself like what type of artists do
- 23:44Speaker 1: you consider yoursel as far as like genre. Yeah, I
- 23:47Speaker 1: mean I'm a I'm a rapper at heart, but I'm
- 23:50Speaker 1: also singing. So it's like I teeter that line because
- 23:53Speaker 1: I feel like you're literally your own genre because I
- 23:56Speaker 1: was thinking about we was talking about Bryson Tiller the
- 23:58Speaker 1: other day and how he kind of to do like
- 24:00Speaker 1: that trap soul playing. I've never heard that before, the
- 24:04Speaker 1: same thing that you've never heard your style before. Yeah,
- 24:09Speaker 1: so what would you call it? I don't know, I
- 24:12Speaker 1: think R and B is the closest thing to it,
- 24:14Speaker 1: just just in terms of the context, like you know,
- 24:16Speaker 1: me speaking about love for sure, But I approach every
- 24:20Speaker 1: verse from a from a rapper's perspective. Really, yeah, as
- 24:24Speaker 1: far as like the bar, the bars in the format,
- 24:27Speaker 1: even how I approach it. It's like I write before
- 24:29Speaker 1: I even hear how the melodies no sound? You know,
- 24:32Speaker 1: did you always want to be who you are right now?
- 24:36Speaker 1: Is that something that you said I envisioned this and
- 24:39Speaker 1: it's actually happening or did it you tried it and
- 24:43Speaker 1: it was like, oh shit, y'all like that? Yeah, it
- 24:47Speaker 1: was more so of a thing, like I didn't chase it.
- 24:50Speaker 1: But when I got to the point of making music,
- 24:52Speaker 1: it felt effortless, like it didn't felt like a job.
- 24:56Speaker 1: It felt like something that's good I was bred to
- 25:00Speaker 1: do all my life. And when I look back, everything
- 25:02Speaker 1: made sense. Like when I was a kid, we used
- 25:04Speaker 1: to leading up to where you're at now. Yeah, we
- 25:06Speaker 1: used to remix songs for fun, just write lyrics, so
- 25:10Speaker 1: it was already happening. And then once I got a
- 25:13Speaker 1: chance to record, heard my voice, I just fell in
- 25:16Speaker 1: love with it.
- 25:17Speaker 3: Wow, you got a birthday coming up September?
- 25:21Speaker 1: What zodiac scien is that? Stop? Do you believe in
- 25:26Speaker 1: that zodiacci Yeah, you're gonna read his poem?
- 25:31Speaker 3: No I ain't.
- 25:33Speaker 4: But but in honor of the fact that your birthday
- 25:37Speaker 4: is coming up, what are you celebrating the most about
- 25:40Speaker 4: yourself this year?
- 25:44Speaker 3: And I'm talking now, look you know me, I like
- 25:46Speaker 3: to go.
- 25:46Speaker 4: Deep talking spiritual, like feeling like what is different about
- 25:50Speaker 4: you this year that you want to take into this
- 25:54Speaker 4: next year of your life?
- 26:01Speaker 1: Man, she fucked you up. Yeah, but I love questions
- 26:05Speaker 1: self reflection.
- 26:07Speaker 3: But you know what's funny is I have his birthday
- 26:10Speaker 3: in my calendar.
- 26:10Speaker 1: That's crazy, damn real, I didn't have. I didn't have that.
- 26:19Speaker 4: From hearing your growth. Like honestly not the caveat off
- 26:22Speaker 4: what I said. But the reason why I asked that
- 26:24Speaker 4: is because I think that's what I hear the most
- 26:26Speaker 4: in this interview is gross, like hearing even what you've
- 26:29Speaker 4: been going on behind the seats every time I check
- 26:31Speaker 4: in it.
- 26:31Speaker 3: On you, taking it one day at a time.
- 26:33Speaker 4: Doing this now I have more context into Okay, these
- 26:37Speaker 4: are the things that when I hit you and you
- 26:39Speaker 4: come on my spirit and God's like Hey, check on him, like,
- 26:44Speaker 4: you know, like check on his spirit, you know, see
- 26:47Speaker 4: what he's got going on. So it's like knowing that
- 26:49Speaker 4: that's kind of been the narrative and the dialogue the
- 26:52Speaker 4: whole time. I've been checking on you this year, like
- 26:54Speaker 4: hearing you now, I can hear where God is taking
- 26:57Speaker 4: you into the next that coming, Yeah, you know what
- 27:01Speaker 4: I mean, Like you've been carrying it. It's been a
- 27:03Speaker 4: little heavy, but he was breeding something in you and
- 27:06Speaker 4: there's a fierceness that I can hear and even what's
- 27:08Speaker 4: getting ready to evolve. So I'm curious what your recollection
- 27:12Speaker 4: on your last year is.
- 27:13Speaker 1: Wow, I would say just consistency, Like that's what love
- 27:18Speaker 1: is to me, the daily commitment of showing up, yeah,
- 27:22Speaker 1: and embracing everything that come with it. You know, I'm
- 27:26Speaker 1: real proud of myself and I plan on living in
- 27:30Speaker 1: the consistency because that's where you see real results no
- 27:33Speaker 1: matter what you think about when you hear that word.
- 27:36Speaker 1: I think that's something that I want to continue to
- 27:38Speaker 1: embrace moving forward.
- 27:40Speaker 4: I love that you've been doing the work and it's
- 27:42Speaker 4: paying off and you should be proud of yourself. And
- 27:44Speaker 4: I'm happy to hear that that's what you recollect of
- 27:46Speaker 4: your last year, because that's the part that I want
- 27:49Speaker 4: you to understand, even as a friend, like you're growing
- 27:53Speaker 4: and it's being felt, and the work that you're doing
- 27:56Speaker 4: is paying off, and it's not just paying often.
- 27:58Speaker 3: That the energy that we feel when.
- 28:00Speaker 4: You're the presence in the room is what we feel
- 28:03Speaker 4: in the music that you're creating. It's hard, so it's
- 28:05Speaker 4: like what you're trying to do, you're doing it and
- 28:07Speaker 4: everybody doesn't make that connection.
- 28:09Speaker 3: So when you.
- 28:10Speaker 4: Walk out and chest out, you know what I'm saying, hello, Hello, hello,
- 28:15Speaker 4: that we've been doing the work.
- 28:16Speaker 3: You've been doing the work.
- 28:18Speaker 1: I appreciate that for real. Listen, man, we appreciate you
- 28:21Speaker 1: spend some time with us. We know you on the
- 28:23Speaker 1: press run. This is a dope interview. Great meeting you
- 28:27Speaker 1: as well. Usually I talk a little bit more shit,
- 28:29Speaker 1: but I definitely am a fan bro. Sometimes I gotta
- 28:32Speaker 1: sit back and be like, man, this is cool. This
- 28:35Speaker 1: is the part of my job that's like super cool
- 28:37Speaker 1: to interview people that I listen to a lot that
- 28:40Speaker 1: so far Laborer love out appreciate you. Definitely you're gonna
- 28:45Speaker 1: give us a can.
- 28:47Speaker 3: I pray with you before. Yeah, let's do it. Come on,
- 28:53Speaker 3: why the guy? I come to you with somebody?
- 28:54Speaker 4: As ever, I thank you for another day we were
- 28:56Speaker 4: able to wake up and rise to the occasion. Right now, God,
- 28:59Speaker 4: I just pray over Black and his career. God, all
- 29:01Speaker 4: of the light, the loads that he's currently carrying. God,
- 29:03Speaker 4: I pray that you continue to keep him elevating in
- 29:06Speaker 4: his labor of love. God. I pray that he continue
- 29:08Speaker 4: to show up as a dad, as an artist, as
- 29:10Speaker 4: a producer, as an engineer, guy, in every facet of
- 29:14Speaker 4: his life. But most importantly, I pray that you send
- 29:16Speaker 4: him all that he needs and his team for him
- 29:18Speaker 4: to continue to be able to evolve in his purpose.
- 29:21Speaker 3: God, I pray that you keep his spirit like God.
- 29:23Speaker 4: I pray that you keep his peace prevailing in every situation.
- 29:26Speaker 3: That he encounters.
- 29:27Speaker 4: God, and just keep his mind and his thoughts and
- 29:29Speaker 4: his spirit and his course of action aligned with you
- 29:32Speaker 4: at at all times. God, send Jesus name, I prayed
- 29:35Speaker 1: Man Amen, Yeah, Yeah, the job
