1:14
Speaker 6: going to forego all of the normal intros this morning
1:18
Speaker 6: because we got breaking news.
1:19
Speaker 4: Let's go to Jeff Jenkins in the newsroom.
1:20
Speaker 7: Good morning, Jeff, Hey, Good morning Dave. Yes.
1:22
Speaker 8: Of course, we've been following this since Saturday up at
1:26
Speaker 8: the Rolling thunder mine near Swiss in Nicholas County, when
1:30
Speaker 8: that mine flooded and seventeen miners were able to escape,
1:34
Speaker 8: but the foreman there was not able to get out,
1:37
Speaker 8: and so a rescue effort has been underway, mostly concentrated
1:43
Speaker 8: on pumping out water from the flooded mine, and Governor
1:46
Speaker 8: Morsey just tweeted this about less than ten minutes ago
1:50
Speaker 8: that they had gotten enough water out at six o'clock
1:54
Speaker 8: this morning to be able to enter the mine. And
1:57
Speaker 8: then they did find the mind norman, and he did
2:01
Speaker 8: not make it. Steve Lipscomb is his name, and so
2:05
Speaker 8: the governor putting out a release about that. Let me
2:09
Speaker 8: just quote a little bit of that. The team began
2:10
Speaker 8: their search, examining every section as they advance underground. At
2:14
Speaker 8: seven thirty seventy am, one two man team located the
2:17
Speaker 8: body of missing minor foreman Steve Lipscomb cruiser worked tiresly
2:21
Speaker 8: around the clock in twelve hour shifts to search for
2:24
Speaker 8: their colleague, and then he went on to say, quote,
2:27
Speaker 8: today we grieve for this terrible tragedy and honor the
2:30
Speaker 8: life of one of our own. This morning's news is
2:33
Speaker 8: absolutely heartbreaking, and so the governor and put out that statement.
2:39
Speaker 8: We've got the story and you can read the full
2:41
Speaker 8: statement at wv metronews dot com. But yeah, you knew
2:46
Speaker 8: it was going to be You're hoping for the best,
2:49
Speaker 8: rite but knew, you know, the longer it went, the
2:51
Speaker 8: more difficult it might be. And we don't know, you know,
2:54
Speaker 8: the circumstances around this time. Out later, you know there'll
2:57
Speaker 8: be an investigation Diddy drowned or whatever or you know
3:00
Speaker 8: happened there tragically. But yeah, not a not a not
3:06
Speaker 8: a positive ending there for him, And we don't have it.
3:09
Speaker 8: We don't have where he's from. With this release we
3:12
Speaker 8: had we had learned that he's I think from the
3:14
Speaker 8: Elkview area, that's what we I don't have that confirmed yet,
3:18
Speaker 8: but that's some of the things we've heard in leading
3:21
Speaker 8: up to this. But he was an experienced mind who's
3:24
Speaker 8: a former there I think he had at least twenty
3:26
Speaker 8: years in the minds. So we'll find out more about that.
3:28
Speaker 8: But that's just just just breaking this morning.
3:30
Speaker 6: All right, and of course the talk line guys, and
3:33
Speaker 6: we'll have more. We'll have it, and we'll have more
3:35
Speaker 6: on midday as well. And this you know, the governor
3:37
Speaker 6: I think at this time was scheduled to speak at
3:39
Speaker 6: this energy someone which is going on in Charleston, So
3:42
Speaker 6: I don't know if that's been delayed or what. Of course,
3:44
Speaker 6: he and the first lady making that announcement earlier today.
3:47
Speaker 4: We'll keep you.
3:47
Speaker 8: Updated well, you know, and just from all the stories
3:50
Speaker 8: that we have done, you know, they were as you
3:53
Speaker 8: look at it. I mean, they did everything they could, right,
3:56
Speaker 8: I mean, they had the resources there very quickly. They
4:00
Speaker 8: started pumping that water out very quickly. Uh started that
4:04
Speaker 8: on Saturday, you know some of those things on Saturdays.
4:06
Speaker 8: It was so much water, uh that that had filled
4:09
Speaker 8: the mining Exactly why it filled it? How come there's
4:12
Speaker 8: that much water. That's all going to be part of
4:13
Speaker 8: the investigation obviously coming up. But uh, but again just
4:19
Speaker 8: for mister thoughts and prayers or with mister Lipskin's family
4:22
Speaker 8: right now and those who knew and fellow fellow workers.
4:25
Speaker 4: And that community too. And there's something you know.
4:27
Speaker 6: I come from a cold wont mining background, as do
4:30
Speaker 6: many of our listeners to this show. It is a
4:34
Speaker 6: it is a close knit family that people that aren't
4:37
Speaker 6: in it may not necessarily understand, right, And and so
4:42
Speaker 6: the entire state of West Virginia's screaming at this time.
4:44
Speaker 8: Yep, yes, okay, if I go to the website, you
4:46
Speaker 8: can read that. You can read the governor's full statement there,
4:48
Speaker 8: and then we'll obviously have more during the day here.
4:51
Speaker 6: All right, Jeff, thanks a lot breaking news, and again,
4:53
Speaker 6: uh uh, it was the it was the news that
4:56
Speaker 6: we didn't want to hear, obviously. And the governor is
5:02
Speaker 6: speaking I understand at this energy summit right now, and
5:05
Speaker 6: he's he's at the podium as we speak right now.
5:09
Speaker 6: So we'll have more on that on talk line coming
5:11
Speaker 6: up a little bit later on certainly a Metro news
5:13
Speaker 6: midday as well. But again, the breaking news coming within
5:15
Speaker 6: the last fifteen minutes or so from the governor is
5:18
Speaker 6: that that minor Nicholas County has been found dead.
5:22
Speaker 4: All right, let us move on.
5:27
Speaker 6: The phone calls, will get to a little bit later
5:28
Speaker 6: on if we have any, of course, we always get texts.

5:46

5:49

5:52
Speaker 6: or Tony's Facebook page for more information. Coming up a
5:54
Speaker 6: little bit later on State Democratic Party chair and Delicate
5:57
Speaker 6: Mike Pushkin is going to join us. Also, Rob Riel
5:59
Speaker 6: is to join this from her sister station ninety six
6:01
Speaker 6: one KWS talk about next week's Turkey drop that is
6:04
Speaker 6: happening one week from day on our parking not here
6:06
Speaker 6: at eleven eleven Virginia Street, Charleston. I want to welcome
6:09
Speaker 6: to the show now though the Mayor of South Charleston,
6:10
Speaker 6: Frankmullin Junior, Good morning, sir, Welcome to the show.
6:13
Speaker 4: Good morning, Thanks for having me always and thank you
6:15
Speaker 4: for being here.
6:16
Speaker 6: And you know, I'm going to give you an opportunity
6:18
Speaker 6: because you you came in at nine o'clock this morning
6:22
Speaker 6: and we were going to talk about some positive things
6:23
Speaker 6: in South Charleston. This is certainly not the way we
6:25
Speaker 6: wanted to start the show today, but I'm going to
6:27
Speaker 6: give you an opportunity if you would like to say anything,
6:29
Speaker 6: you know on behalf of the city of South Charleston
6:32
Speaker 6: about the miner who was found in the c S.
6:34
Speaker 4: Nicholas County.
6:35
Speaker 9: Well, you know what what's saying, there's no thought you
6:37
Speaker 9: hit the nail on the head. I was thinking the
6:38
Speaker 9: same thing as what you mentioned was that obviously your
6:42
Speaker 9: your your heart breaks for the family and heart and
6:46
Speaker 9: bought some prayers go out to the family. But the
6:48
Speaker 9: whole community, as you mentioned, it's a community. It affects
6:51
Speaker 9: the whole community. It's such a tight knit group as
6:53
Speaker 9: you mentioned, and so, yeah, it's a tough day. And
6:57
Speaker 9: I didn't I just heard it when I walked in here,
6:59
Speaker 9: and so it was. It kind of hits you kind
7:02
Speaker 9: of hard, even from South Charleston.
7:04
Speaker 4: Yeah, it hits you.
7:05
Speaker 9: It hits you kind of hard so our whole community thoughts,
7:07
Speaker 9: some prayers would be with the family in that community.
7:10
Speaker 4: Indeed.
7:11
Speaker 6: Indeed, and again they're going to have more on that,
7:13
Speaker 6: the governor speaking now, we'll have more on that coming
7:15
Speaker 6: up on talk Line with Meadows and Wilson at ten
7:17
Speaker 6: o six and at Amanda and I will of course
7:19
Speaker 6: have it in fold of tail coming up after ten
7:22
Speaker 6: or after noon today on Metro News Midday.
7:24
Speaker 4: All right, let's get to some other things.
7:27
Speaker 6: Reason I brought you in here today, I wanted to
7:31
Speaker 6: let you tell us about some things going on in
7:32
Speaker 6: South Charleston. Got a lot of exciting things going on.
7:35
Speaker 6: So just take it from the top. Every time I
7:37
Speaker 6: turn around, man, I pick up, there's a business opening,
7:39
Speaker 6: there's a ribbon cutting. Of course, you got the mall projects.
7:41
Speaker 6: So what do you want to start?
7:43
Speaker 4: Well, that's that's it.
7:44
Speaker 9: I mean, we're we're going through it seems like we're
7:46
Speaker 9: going through a rush here with new business coming to
7:48
Speaker 9: South Charleston, which is a great thing. A matter of fact,
7:49
Speaker 9: when I leave your show today, I'm going to another
7:51
Speaker 9: ribbon cost Okay, going another this morning.
7:53
Speaker 4: And what is that? In spring Hill? A little Caesars
7:55
Speaker 4: built a new store in spring Hill. So we're going
7:57
Speaker 4: to go down and cut the ribbon on that here.
7:59
Speaker 4: Do they say pizza pieza a ribbon ribbon? Absolutely?
8:02
Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, But it's a it's a new restaurant in
8:05
Speaker 9: our city. It's it's Little Caesars was already there, but
8:07
Speaker 9: they built a new restaurant there. So that's what we're
8:09
Speaker 9: gonna do. But sometimes, Dave, you know I've mentioned this
8:11
Speaker 9: is these kind of ribbon cuttings. You know, you always
8:14
Speaker 9: you know, you're took on to depth to get the
8:15
Speaker 9: new business. And every when you have a business here
8:17
Speaker 9: that reinvests in your community, that's every bit is important.
8:19
Speaker 6: Well, and I think mayor it goes to show and
8:22
Speaker 6: this is a franchise and we love our you know,
8:25
Speaker 6: we love because they employ a lot of people. We
8:26
Speaker 6: love our small businesses too, But it's it says something
8:29
Speaker 6: about South Charleston that the business wanted to say, hey,
8:32
Speaker 6: we need to we need to pick up our game
8:34
Speaker 6: a little bit, do a little refurbishing whatever.
8:36
Speaker 4: Obviously business is good or they wouldn't be doing that. That's
8:38
Speaker 4: exactly right. And that's what I mean by the reinvestment.
8:40
Speaker 9: You know, those companies that do that that's a that's
8:42
Speaker 9: a big deal as well, so we're thrilled with that
8:44
Speaker 9: as well.
8:44
Speaker 4: But yeah, we've been calling on kind of a role
8:46
Speaker 4: and it's not just the Park.
8:47
Speaker 9: Place, and I think maybe seeing a little bit of
8:49
Speaker 9: a domino effect of that, which I've said numerous times
8:52
Speaker 9: over the years, what what what That's going to be
8:54
Speaker 9: one one thing we're gonna all all see is a
8:56
Speaker 9: domino effect. What's going on to Park Place. But if
8:58
Speaker 9: you go speaking of park Place, if you go by there,
9:00
Speaker 9: you mentioned what's going on. So obviously the Kroger store,
9:03
Speaker 9: which is going up tremendously fast. They've already moved their
9:06
Speaker 9: opening date up a month into May of next year
9:09
Speaker 9: instead of June, so it's really gone well. And there's
9:12
Speaker 9: three other buildings going under construction there as we speak
9:15
Speaker 9: as well. Two of them will house about seven businesses.
9:17
Speaker 9: Of Peace will be fourteen there, and then you have
9:19
Speaker 9: Mission Barbecue getting ready to start on the corner just
9:21
Speaker 9: directly across the street from Chick fil A. There will
9:24
Speaker 9: be the other two buildings I mentioned on how some
9:26
Speaker 9: of the smaller businesses of three to five thousand square foot.
9:29
Speaker 9: Although we've announced Sketcher's out coming it's about an eight
9:32
Speaker 9: thousand square foot be the biggest one of those roofs there.
9:34
Speaker 9: So Hughy mcgoo's is coming Pizza and Cream, which is
9:39
Speaker 9: I think a really neat story. You know, we love
9:41
Speaker 9: all of our businesses coming to park Place, but Pizzas
9:43
Speaker 9: and Cream is a West Virginia business out of Clay County.
9:45
Speaker 9: If you google them and see their story is basically
9:47
Speaker 9: was created out of a brick oven building their property
9:50
Speaker 9: out in Clay County. So it's a pretty cool story
9:52
Speaker 9: to have that kind of homegrown business coming.
9:54
Speaker 4: To park Place. What what is leading all this? I mean,
9:58
Speaker 4: why are people wanting to come to South Charles Well.
10:00
Speaker 9: I hope that it's because we have focused from the
10:03
Speaker 9: day I got elected back in seven. One of the
10:05
Speaker 9: things that we really wanted to stress was to be
10:07
Speaker 9: in a business friendly community and all that that implies.
10:10
Speaker 9: And I hope that that's a big part of it.
10:12
Speaker 9: I think it is never one thing that it's always
10:14
Speaker 9: a big package deal why people want to come here.
10:17
Speaker 9: It's never about taxes only. It's never about you know,
10:19
Speaker 9: location only or parking only. It's kind of the whole package,
10:22
Speaker 9: you know, from free parking to our location to our
10:25
Speaker 9: tax credits. We have in a book for new and
10:26
Speaker 9: expanding businesses to just our our willingness to serve our
10:30
Speaker 9: you know, I think our response to business community when
10:32
Speaker 9: they call us about something. It could be something as
10:33
Speaker 9: small as a crack sidewalk, but you respond to it.
10:36
Speaker 9: You don't respond six months from now. You respawn tomorrow.
10:39
Speaker 9: You know, you know you want to get things done
10:41
Speaker 9: for them, and get things done quickly. So I think
10:43
Speaker 9: all that stuff, you wrap it up in a nice bow,
10:45
Speaker 9: and you make sure it's here to stay.
10:47
Speaker 10: You know.
10:47
Speaker 9: That's the other thing, Dave. You can't just do it
10:49
Speaker 9: for a little while. You have to prove to everyone
10:51
Speaker 9: it's here to stay. It's not going anywhere. We got
10:54
Speaker 9: staying power here, and I think people realize now that
10:57
Speaker 9: we have staying power.
10:58
Speaker 6: We had a couple of texture for you. One says,
11:01
Speaker 6: any plans for the old Kroger building?
11:03
Speaker 9: Yes, the old Kroger building is already backfilled. I can't
11:05
Speaker 9: make the announcement to who it is right now, but
11:08
Speaker 9: there'll be two retailers going on there. One of them
11:10
Speaker 9: will be new to West Virginia. So we're excited about that.
11:13
Speaker 9: And that's one of the things I stressed from day
11:14
Speaker 9: one when we did this thing with Kroger Marketplace coming
11:17
Speaker 9: across the street, was to make sure we backfill Kroger
11:19
Speaker 9: and not have an empty space over there.
11:21
Speaker 4: So that's been done. We had a text here.
11:23
Speaker 6: This was a personal text from a delegate jb Acres,
11:26
Speaker 6: who said, thank the mayor for helping to coordinate Thanksgiving
11:29
Speaker 6: meals and a couple of schools in my district.
11:31
Speaker 9: Now, and thanks JB as well. I mean he texted
11:33
Speaker 9: me and reached out and kind of got that ball
11:34
Speaker 9: roll and then so we it's a good program, and
11:38
Speaker 9: so thank you, JB. I appreciate that. Another team effort.
11:40
Speaker 6: Another question about the Kroger says that they called it
11:44
Speaker 6: the Gucci Kroger. Now we got to get this straightened out. Okay, yeah,
11:48
Speaker 6: Gucci Kroger is out at Ashton Place in Day's Valley.
11:51
Speaker 6: We had the Pradakroger. Okay, so you guys are going
11:54
Speaker 6: to have to come up with another name, all right.
11:56
Speaker 4: I don't know.
11:56
Speaker 6: I'm not sophisticated enough to come up with something. The uh, well,
12:00
Speaker 6: we've got to come up with another name, the.
12:01
Speaker 4: Biggest and best, biggest and best.
12:04
Speaker 6: But it says that Kroger that they're building South Charleston. Uh,
12:07
Speaker 6: Are they going to sell weed eaters too?
12:09
Speaker 4: Because it's huge.
12:11
Speaker 9: Well, their product line is going to going to go
12:13
Speaker 9: above and beyond groceries because that's it is a marketplace
12:16
Speaker 9: and the only one in West Virginia.
12:17
Speaker 4: So that's kind of why we agree to do this.
12:19
Speaker 9: When you say above and beyond mare, what's well, they
12:22
Speaker 9: will sell other things they'll sell if you go to
12:24
Speaker 9: different marketplaces around I've never been to I've only been
12:26
Speaker 9: to one in Hilton Head when we've gone down on
12:28
Speaker 9: a vacation and we went the one down there, and
12:31
Speaker 9: depending on where it's at, I think is what they sell.
12:33
Speaker 9: And down hilt Hill all it's all beach and beach
12:35
Speaker 9: where and those kinds of things that go along with
12:37
Speaker 9: with that community. But outdoor furniture, clothing, you know, just uh,
12:43
Speaker 9: just a variety of different things that they'll sell there.
12:45
Speaker 9: It's almost like a section of the Kroger is almost
12:47
Speaker 9: like a mini Walmart type situa question.
12:49
Speaker 4: All right, So Charles and maror Frank Mallins.
12:51
Speaker 6: We had to catch a little bit short today because
12:53
Speaker 6: of the breaking news, but I appreciate you being here man.
12:54
Speaker 4: Thanks so thanks for having me today. Appreciate good things
12:57
Speaker 4: going on, keep going, keep doing good stuff.

Speaker 11: Dick Durbin. Now Durbin has a new scheme. He's doing
13:56
Speaker 11: the dirty work to benefit corporate mega stores. Durbin's build
14:00
Speaker 11: could cut corners on your credit card security, putting your
14:03
Speaker 11: personal data at risk. Big chain retailers and warehouse stores
14:07
Speaker 11: want to inflate their profits, and Liberal Dick Durbin would
14:10
Speaker 11: help them do it. Tell senators say no to the
14:13
Speaker 11: megastores and Dick Durbin paid for by the Electronic Payments Coalition.
14:18
Speaker 12: I'm Doug Leach, founder and CEO of Ascension Recovery Services.
14:21
Speaker 12: We've done a number of projects with Jarrett Construction. Minding
14:24
Speaker 12: people that really care about what they do and care
14:26
Speaker 12: about what we do is pretty unique in Jarrett Construction
14:30
Speaker 12: fake care. They're really really good people. Good people do
14:33
Speaker 12: the right thing in their very skilled They have all

14:38
Speaker 12: and they just spilled us a phenomenal building.

14:44

Speaker 6: case may be. Go to WCCHS Network dot com or

Speaker 6: West Virginia. We care about our veterans. Of a Dave
16:21
Speaker 6: Island show on five eighty Live is brought to you
16:23
Speaker 6: apart by Morgan and Morgan with more than twenty billion
16:25
Speaker 6: dollars recovered. They believe when you're injured, you deserve more.
16:28
Speaker 6: Morgan Morgan, America's largest injury law firm. Let me knock
16:31
Speaker 6: out a couple of texts here South Charleston. It says,
16:35
Speaker 6: it's called out migration. That's why South Charleston is such
16:38
Speaker 6: a success. The big news, of course, this morning, just
16:43
Speaker 6: broke about thirty minutes or so ago. Governor Patrick Morrissey says,
16:48
Speaker 6: approximately six a m. This morning, water levels and the
16:51
Speaker 6: rolling thunder mind Nicholas County receded sufficiently enough for rescue
16:56
Speaker 6: crews to safely enter, and at seven thirty seven this morning,
17:00
Speaker 6: a one one two man team located the body of
17:03
Speaker 6: the missing minor. He was a foreman by the name
17:04
Speaker 6: of Steve Lipskomb. We don't have any further information about that,
17:09
Speaker 6: but his body was recovered, uh this morning. So stay
17:14
Speaker 6: Democratic Party chair and delicate.
17:15
Speaker 4: Mike Pushkin is here. Mike, I want to start with that.
17:17
Speaker 6: Give you an opportunity to weigh in on the death
17:20
Speaker 6: of mister Lipskim And they discovered his body this morning.
17:22
Speaker 7: Yeah, that's just devastating news. I'm so sorry to hear
17:27
Speaker 7: about that young man who was just going to work
17:31
Speaker 7: to earn a living and has this sort of tragic end. Uh,
17:37
Speaker 7: And you know, deep in that mind and uh, you know,
17:40
Speaker 7: I'm just so sorry for his family and friends and
17:42
Speaker 7: loved ones. It's devastating.
17:45
Speaker 6: Yeah, and it's a time when you know, we can
17:48
Speaker 6: have our differences, and we frequently do in West Virginia
17:50
Speaker 6: and across the country. But one of the things that
17:54
Speaker 6: I think I like to think anyway, maybe I'm gonna,
17:56
Speaker 6: you know, an optimist here, but one of the things
17:59
Speaker 6: that I like to think, uh, is that West Virginians
18:03
Speaker 6: can put things aside for a moment, you know, and uh,
18:07
Speaker 6: and to grief because that was we don't know anything
18:10
Speaker 6: about his name. He was a twenty year mind form.
18:11
Speaker 6: And we do know that we know his name, presuming
18:14
Speaker 6: family and things of that nature. And Republican Democrat, liberal
18:17
Speaker 6: conservative on this issue, we can all come together. We all,
18:20
Speaker 6: we we all, we all, we all grieve that.
18:22
Speaker 7: It absolutely doesn't doesn't matter what your ideology is in
18:25
Speaker 7: times like like this. This is just uh, a guy
18:29
Speaker 7: who is just going to work to make a living
18:31
Speaker 7: and met this tragic end.
18:32
Speaker 8: Uh.
18:33
Speaker 7: And it's it's it's horrible, and it's just it's a
18:35
Speaker 7: very dangerous job. And we keep that in mind. Yeah,
18:38
Speaker 7: they're just you know, putting on those you know, their
18:40
Speaker 7: boots every day, going to work to make sure that
18:42
Speaker 7: America has power and uh and oftentimes risk their lives
18:47
Speaker 7: and doing so.
18:47
Speaker 6: And we don't want again. There will be a full
18:49
Speaker 6: investigation as to what happened as far as how this happened,
18:53
Speaker 6: and and you know, uh, you know, the did he
18:56
Speaker 6: suffered It was a sudden We don't we're not really
18:58
Speaker 6: worried about that.
18:59
Speaker 14: Now.
18:59
Speaker 4: We can get into that a little.
19:00
Speaker 6: Bit later as there should be. But yeah, and there
19:02
Speaker 6: and there will. The family deserves that and everybody deserves that.
19:07
Speaker 6: But uh, I think the fact that, knowing what I
19:09
Speaker 6: know about the coal mining industry, if he were a
19:12
Speaker 6: if he was a foreman, and this has happened so
19:14
Speaker 6: many times and other mind tragedies in the past, foreman's
19:17
Speaker 6: are normally the last ones outbody. They take care of
19:20
Speaker 6: their men, uh first and then And I don't know
19:22
Speaker 6: if that's what happened in this case, but if I
19:24
Speaker 6: were a betting person, I would say that's probably what
19:27
Speaker 6: happened in this case. But well, we'll find all that
19:29
Speaker 6: letter tragic news. Yeah, definitely, And indeed I do want
19:32
Speaker 6: to mention here just uh, just real quickly. You and
19:36
Speaker 6: I had an opportunity last night to attend a great
19:38
Speaker 6: event here in Charleston, the Charleston Urban Works URBANID Awards,
19:42
Speaker 6: honoring some great businesses and individuals doing good stuff here
19:44
Speaker 6: and Charleston. Great to see the late Kitty Duly honored,
19:47
Speaker 6: as well as the big award going to Adam Crason
19:49
Speaker 6: of ZMN Architects and Engineers Woody Woods and I got
19:53
Speaker 6: the MC the event. It was a great event last
19:55
Speaker 6: night and you we weren't hanging out together just so
19:58
Speaker 6: you know, we just happened to be there.
19:59
Speaker 7: That's the same.
20:00
Speaker 4: We hung out a little bit, and we did hang
20:01
Speaker 4: out a little bit last night.
20:02
Speaker 7: Bit.
20:03
Speaker 4: But it was a great event for Charleston.
20:04
Speaker 7: It is and it always is. And Charleston Urban Works
20:07
Speaker 7: does such a great job of lifting up small businesses
20:10
Speaker 7: and you know, businesses that have been here a while,
20:12
Speaker 7: new businesses, and that's a great night each year for
20:15
Speaker 7: the urban Ide Awards to honor the city of Charleston
20:18
Speaker 7: and the people that make this city so great. The
20:21
Speaker 7: mayor was in attendance, of course, she presented. Uh, the
20:24
Speaker 7: you know, the urban Ide Award that you mentioned went
20:26
Speaker 7: to Adam Crayson who zmm does you know you know,
20:31
Speaker 7: rebuilt the Charleston Skyline really completely another style of Charleston. Yeah,
20:36
Speaker 7: and just done great work for the community. And of course, yeah,
20:39
Speaker 7: we honored Kitty Dooley. Uh unfortunately, you know, posthumously honored
20:44
Speaker 7: Kitty Dooley that we lost just recently. And what a
20:46
Speaker 7: great person and an advocate for for Charleston and all
20:49
Speaker 7: of West Virginia, just you know, people everywhere that she
20:53
Speaker 7: was a real champion for justice and and uh, you
20:55
Speaker 7: know somebody I considered a good friend and somebody I
20:58
Speaker 7: often called for advice on things, and she is going
21:01
Speaker 7: to be missed, but she was definitely deserving of the
21:04
Speaker 7: honor that she received last night. All right, so the
21:07
Speaker 7: shutdown is over, Yes, it is for now. For now.
21:13
Speaker 7: You know, I will say I disagree with the If
21:15
Speaker 7: you want to come and put up air quotes here,
21:17
Speaker 7: you can't see them on the radio. Was the strategy
21:20
Speaker 7: of the seven Democrats and the one Independent that I felt, well,
21:27
Speaker 7: I think we could have gotten a deal on healthcare.
21:29
Speaker 7: And that's what's important. West Virginians are set to see
21:32
Speaker 7: the largest premium increases in the entire country. It's not
21:36
Speaker 7: just going to affect the folks in the marketplace, because
21:39
Speaker 7: when you're talking about increases that high, when you have,
21:43
Speaker 7: you know, a small business owner or an independent contractors
21:46
Speaker 7: whose premium goes from four hundred some dollars a month
21:49
Speaker 7: to two thousand some dollars a month, what's going to
21:50
Speaker 7: happen is they're going to cease to be insured. They're
21:53
Speaker 7: not going to be Nobody can afford that, and that's
21:55
Speaker 7: going to pull people out of the pool and cause
21:57
Speaker 7: everybody's premiums to go up. It is a crime. That's
22:00
Speaker 7: why it is so disappointing to see this, uh, you know,
22:03
Speaker 7: this one beautiful bill whatever you want to call it,
22:06
Speaker 7: which is what we're really talking about. To see that
22:08
Speaker 7: not just supported by Jim Justice and Shelley Moore Capito
22:12
Speaker 7: and Carol Miller and Riley Moore, but they were real
22:15
Speaker 7: champions for it, and it's going to disproportionately hurt West Virginians.
22:19
Speaker 7: But yes, the the the good news is that you know,
22:22
Speaker 7: the snap benefits should go out, Federal employees are going
22:26
Speaker 7: back to work, air traffic controllers going back to work.
22:28
Speaker 7: It's safer to fly. That's all good news. And also
22:31
Speaker 7: it brought the House of Representatives back in. And what
22:35
Speaker 7: did we see yesterday is the House Oversight Committee released
22:39
Speaker 7: a huge drop of emails that was it was horrible
22:44
Speaker 7: and just disgusting and put the President in I mean,
22:48
Speaker 7: placed him at Jeffrey Epstein's house exactly what it said,
22:53
Speaker 7: spent hours with one of the victims, victims meaning girls,
22:58
Speaker 7: not young women, but girls who are trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein.
23:03
Speaker 7: And it shows that the president not only knew about it,
23:05
Speaker 7: but he was participating in it.
23:07
Speaker 6: And you know what the Republicans are going to say, though,
23:09
Speaker 6: is that this was cherry picked, that they that they
23:11
Speaker 6: that it was just starting to.
23:12
Speaker 7: Course, they're going to release the they released ten thousand
23:14
Speaker 7: emails yesterday. Okay. Of course, the ones that people are
23:17
Speaker 7: talking about are the ones that implicate the you know,
23:20
Speaker 7: chief executive of the United States. Understood, he's the president.
23:23
Speaker 7: That's why people are talking about that. But in all
23:26
Speaker 7: the other emails that were released by the Republicans, there's
23:28
Speaker 7: nothing in there that exonerates him. He said, And I'll
23:33
Speaker 7: tell you, I would love to take calls and texts
23:35
Speaker 7: over this too, because I don't see how you defend this.
23:37
Speaker 7: I really don't, Okay.
23:39
Speaker 6: And again, that's one of the things I that I
23:41
Speaker 6: respect about you, one of the few, I'm kidding. One
23:44
Speaker 6: of the things I do respect about you is when
23:45
Speaker 6: you come and you sit down this microphone, you always say,
23:48
Speaker 6: I'll take phone calls and I'll take texts, So we'll
23:51
Speaker 6: so they're there are open open phone lines. If you'd
23:53
Speaker 6: like to talk to mister Pushkin this morning, you are
23:56
Speaker 6: certainly more than welcome to the shows.
23:58
Speaker 7: If anything that shows that they're a was a real
24:00
Speaker 7: relationship between President Trump and Jeffrey Epstein, they were more
24:06
Speaker 7: than just acquaintance suspense at his house. He says he
24:09
Speaker 7: kicked him victim and he and he did. The President
24:11
Speaker 7: did say that he kicked.
24:12
Speaker 6: Out uh Epstein, Uh, he kicked him off mar A
24:16
Speaker 6: Lago one.
24:17
Speaker 4: At one point he said that.
24:18
Speaker 7: No, his press secretary said that yesterday. The president he
24:22
Speaker 7: said that for varying reasons, there were some First it
24:26
Speaker 7: was over a business deal, Okay, then it changed, then
24:29
Speaker 7: it was still employees. Yeah, because they were taking girls
24:32
Speaker 7: who worked at mar A Lago and taking them to
24:34
Speaker 7: Epstein is that And that was in the emails yesterday.
24:37
Speaker 7: He said he knew about the girls. That's why he
24:39
Speaker 7: asked uh, uh, I don't know pronounce your name, Maxwell.
24:42
Speaker 6: Asked her to sorry, had just asked her to asked
24:46
Speaker 6: her to stop, asked her to stop what taking And
24:49
Speaker 6: I'm not going to say they're young women.
24:51
Speaker 4: They're not.
24:51
Speaker 7: They were girls. They're underage girls and taking them from
24:54
Speaker 7: mar A Lago to Epstein Island. So that's what he
24:57
Speaker 7: kicked them out over. There is nothing in there that exonnery.
25:00
Speaker 7: It's this president all.
25:01
Speaker 6: Right, Well, if you want to weigh in on it.
25:02
Speaker 6: You're more than welcome to. I have a text here
25:05
Speaker 6: for you. It says, can you ask Pushkin if the
25:07
Speaker 6: Democrats are the Washington generals the Republican's Harlem globetrotters right now,
25:11
Speaker 6: they seem like paid opposition there to give people the
25:15
Speaker 6: illusion of choice.
25:16
Speaker 7: Well, I would say that the Washington Look, I love
25:19
Speaker 7: the globetrotters, and the Washington generals never win. But I'd say,
25:22
Speaker 7: look what happened last Tuesday. So I'd say, well, no,
25:25
Speaker 7: we're not the Washington generals. Okay, not even the Washington commanders.
25:29
Speaker 7: We've been more than that.
25:32
Speaker 6: Pushkin would make a better governor than the one we
25:35
Speaker 6: have now. At least he's from West Virginia to the
25:37
Speaker 6: texture hard to get right here in Charleston. Somebody's got
25:40
Speaker 6: you running for governor.
25:41
Speaker 7: Well we'll talk later. Really, the governor's not up for
25:45
Speaker 7: re election this year. I'm focused on twenty twenty six
25:49
Speaker 7: and giving voters choices up and down the ballot, and
25:55
Speaker 7: we'll see what happens. If you look at what happened
25:57
Speaker 7: in neighboring Virginia, every single county in virgin and your
26:00
Speaker 7: trended Democratic last week. So we like our chances here.
26:05
Speaker 7: The important thing is to give voters choices, and that's
26:08
Speaker 7: what we plan to do Texas.
26:10
Speaker 6: Very few people care about any that's talking about the
26:13
Speaker 6: Ebstein files. I mean, I don't like Trump, but this
26:15
Speaker 6: isn't even a story and won't move the needle one bit.
26:18
Speaker 7: I disagree. I think, first of all, we're talking about
26:24
Speaker 7: children who are victims of sex trafficking. I think that
26:28
Speaker 7: we should care about this, and I think a lot
26:30
Speaker 7: of people do care about this. I'll tell you one
26:32
Speaker 7: person who really cares about it, and that's President Trump.
26:35
Speaker 7: And that's why he's trying to block the release of
26:38
Speaker 7: all of this information. That's why he has his FBI director,
26:43
Speaker 7: Cash Battel, who has come a long way on this
26:45
Speaker 7: issue since before he became the director of the FBI,
26:48
Speaker 7: he was screaming for the to release the files. But
26:51
Speaker 7: now he's singing a different too, now that he's in
26:52
Speaker 7: a position of power. So Cash Btel and Pam Bondi,
26:56
Speaker 7: the Attorney General, supposed to be working for us. Apparently
27:00
Speaker 7: last night they had pulled a member of course, yesterday
27:03
Speaker 7: they pulled a Member of Congress Bobert into the situation
27:09
Speaker 7: room to try to coerce her to pull her name
27:13
Speaker 7: off of that discharge petition, which which she didn't. And
27:16
Speaker 7: now because they swore in the new congresswoman from Arizona,
27:20
Speaker 7: they had the required amount of names on the discharge
27:22
Speaker 7: position to bring a vote to the floor. I will
27:25
Speaker 7: say I'm disappointed that Carol Miller and Riley Moore did
27:28
Speaker 7: not sign that petition, but they will have a chance
27:31
Speaker 7: to redeem themselves because there is going to be a
27:34
Speaker 7: full vote and you'll see how many Republicans do care
27:38
Speaker 7: about it for your text her there because there I
27:40
Speaker 7: think a lot of Republicans are going to vote to
27:43
Speaker 7: release those files and then will it will move to
27:45
Speaker 7: the Senate and then we'll see how our senators vote.
27:48
Speaker 7: We'll see how Jim Justice votes on that. What would
27:50
Speaker 7: you saybody who was a high school girls basketball coach.
27:53
Speaker 7: Let's see if he you know, protects you know, the
27:57
Speaker 7: girls that he used to coach and votes the right
27:59
Speaker 7: way on And we'll see how she any more capital
28:01
Speaker 7: votes on this if they released the information. Uh so
28:04
Speaker 7: these victims can have.
28:05
Speaker 4: Just what would you say to those that say, look that?
28:07
Speaker 4: And then and I'm not necessarily.
28:09
Speaker 6: Agreeing with this, but there will be those that say
28:11
Speaker 6: that when they're not by an administration that they could
28:14
Speaker 6: have also released them as well.
28:15
Speaker 7: Well, not this information that came out yesterday. I don't
28:17
Speaker 7: believe they had it. And first of all, it was
28:18
Speaker 7: part of a of a pending court case I believe
28:21
Speaker 7: against Maxwell. And uh. This this this new data dump
28:26
Speaker 7: came from the Epstein estate and of course they didn't
28:31
Speaker 7: have that, you know, before he was murdered, I'm sorry,
28:34
Speaker 7: before he committed suicide. Uh. And it's just something that
28:38
Speaker 7: they that they more recently had. But you know what
28:40
Speaker 7: the point is, it should be released as soon as
28:42
Speaker 7: they had. It should be released. It should be released now.
28:45
Speaker 6: And you and you as a state, I don't care
28:47
Speaker 6: who is on they're going to ask, Yes, I don't
28:50
Speaker 6: care Republican.
28:51
Speaker 7: I remember if they're if they're implicated on there, they
28:54
Speaker 7: should face the consequence.
28:56
Speaker 4: I respect that.
28:57
Speaker 6: But Dave Allen showing five eighty LIVEE has brought to
28:58
Speaker 6: you part by fresh Air Field Tay's Valley Fresh Air
29:01

Speaker 6: says Pushkin, there's no hope for magas they're so deep
29:12
Speaker 6: in the cult, there's nothing that will change their minds.
29:15
Speaker 7: Well, I think a lot of the MAGA movement was
29:17
Speaker 7: calling for the release of the Emstein files. I mean,
29:19
Speaker 7: I know Cash Pateel, did, I know jd Vance did,
29:23
Speaker 7: Pam BONDI did. But they're not all now singing a
29:25
Speaker 7: different tune. So I think a lot of people that
29:27
Speaker 7: consider themselves part of the MAGA movement would definitely be
29:31
Speaker 7: for the protection of children and to bring justice to pedophiles.
29:37
Speaker 7: So I disagree with that take. I think there are
29:39
Speaker 7: a lot of people that are that could consider themselves
29:42
Speaker 7: MAGA that agree with me on this that we should
29:45
Speaker 7: need to release the files, get all the information that
29:47
Speaker 7: the cards fall, they where they lie, and prosecute those
29:51
Speaker 7: who are guilty sex as.
29:52
Speaker 6: Republicans don't care that the sex abuser is a sex
29:54
Speaker 6: abuser who party with sex trafficking pedophiles. Republicans would gladly
29:58
Speaker 6: let Trump abuse their kids, wives, do moms, et cetera.
30:01
Speaker 6: There's video of Trump partying with Epstein. Trump said it
30:03
Speaker 6: was fun to party with Epstein. Republicans have no honor
30:06
Speaker 6: or integrity, says a Texter. All right, somebody sent me
30:10
Speaker 6: a big graph here. It's really hard for me to
30:12
Speaker 6: read those on the air. I do, I do appreciate it,
30:15
Speaker 6: but I'll take a look at that later. Tex says
30:20
Speaker 6: both parties will be devastated if that list is released.
30:24
Speaker 7: Release it.
30:25
Speaker 4: That's what that's released.
30:26
Speaker 7: I'm a machir of the West Virginia Democratic Party. I'm
30:28
Speaker 7: for I'll go on the record. Release it everything that
30:31
Speaker 7: you have.
30:32
Speaker 6: Texas Florida guy here, tell Mike there's nothing bad in
30:35
Speaker 6: the files on Trump, because the Democrats would have released
30:37
Speaker 6: anything bad before the election. The girl of the story
30:40
Speaker 6: said Trump did nothing wrong, asid Maxwell.
30:42
Speaker 7: And she's no longer with us. The girl in the story, unfortunately,
30:47
Speaker 7: she took her own life.
30:50
Speaker 6: Timbership proposed as a textra to release the Epstein files yesterday.
30:54
Speaker 4: Democrats blocked it.
30:55
Speaker 15: There.
30:55
Speaker 7: Well, that was let's talk about that. He was doing
30:58
Speaker 7: that so they wouldn't have to go on record. The
31:00
Speaker 7: Democrats want a roll call vote because people need to
31:03
Speaker 7: go on the record. We need to know how Riley
31:04
Speaker 7: Moore votes on this. We need to know how Carol
31:06
Speaker 7: Miller votes on this. So that was a cowardly move
31:09
Speaker 7: to try to do a voice vote. I'm in the legislature.
31:13
Speaker 7: I understand what that means. That means nobody goes on
31:15
Speaker 7: the record on how they vote, and they can just
31:17
Speaker 7: cower in the back of the room and not say
31:19
Speaker 7: anything and let it pass without their vote because they're
31:21
Speaker 7: afraid of the president. Instead of doing their job and
31:24
Speaker 7: standing up to protect children, they're afraid of this president.
31:28
Speaker 7: So no, they need to go on the record, and
31:29
Speaker 7: that was the right call. We're going to get a vote.
31:32
Speaker 7: It's it's the House rules. The petition had enough signatures
31:37
Speaker 7: without Riley Moore's signature, without Carol Miller's signature, because of
31:42
Speaker 7: they seated the congresswoman who's elected what seven weeks ago,
31:45
Speaker 7: because they finally seated her, they had enough. Yeah, they
31:48
Speaker 7: seated her. Yesterday she signed a petition and now there
31:51
Speaker 7: will be a vote, and it will be a roll
31:53
Speaker 7: call vote.
31:54
Speaker 6: Tex says Democrats hid the name of the victim of
31:57
Speaker 6: the Epstein emails. This is her testimony exonerating President Trump.
32:00
Speaker 6: They did not want the public to see it. Where
32:02
Speaker 6: was your demands to release it.
32:04
Speaker 4: Oliver Biden.
32:04
Speaker 7: It's nothing in there that exonerates President Trump. If there
32:08
Speaker 7: was he would be putting it on government websites.
32:11
Speaker 6: Text says, hold on a second, do you thank god?
32:17
Speaker 6: There are still a few Democrats that had some common
32:19
Speaker 6: sense that helped the government to open up. This is
32:21
Speaker 6: why the Democrats in West Virginia are minority in leadership.
32:25
Speaker 7: I think the point is the healthcare issue, and Republicans
32:30
Speaker 7: need to go to the table and I hope they
32:32
Speaker 7: hold their end of the bargain and take a vote
32:34
Speaker 7: on extending the subsidies and the tax credits for the
32:37
Speaker 7: Affordable Care Act. Otherwise a whole lot of West Virginians
32:40
Speaker 7: are not going to be able to see a doctor
32:42
Speaker 7: if they get sick. They're going to be the healthcare
32:45
Speaker 7: will not be affordable for them. When you're talking about
32:48
Speaker 7: going from roughly four hundred dollars a month, and I've
32:50
Speaker 7: heard from constituents they told me these exact numbers, around
32:53
Speaker 7: four hundred dollars a month. With the subsidies, you lose those,
32:56
Speaker 7: it goes up to over two thousand dollars a month.
32:58
Speaker 7: Nobody can afford that. Nobody can afford that, and that's
33:02
Speaker 7: a crisis, and that's what the fight was about. So
33:05
Speaker 7: I think it was a mistake to go to the
33:09
Speaker 7: table without you know, without making that getting a promise
33:12
Speaker 7: of that, because I don't think the Republicans are going
33:14
Speaker 7: to make.
33:15
Speaker 6: So you have an issue with the Fetterman and some
33:17
Speaker 6: of the others. That's what you're saying, right, You don't
33:20
Speaker 6: you tend to decide. I don't want to put words, but
33:22
Speaker 6: you tend to decide with some of the.
33:24
Speaker 7: Other with the majority of Democrats kind of just incentive
33:26
Speaker 7: but across the Conkamp all right, so we care about people,
33:28
Speaker 7: let me finish, care about people's access to health.
33:30
Speaker 4: Let me finish. Text here and I got to get
33:32
Speaker 4: you on the road.
33:33
Speaker 6: Text says Dave. Mike needs to get out of politics.
33:35
Speaker 6: He's like a broken record. Anything to put down President
33:37
Speaker 6: Trump and the Republicans and the people.
33:38
Speaker 7: Don't hey read the emails, read what was release and
33:42
Speaker 7: hadn't come back and tell me that you support that.
33:44
Speaker 7: It's disgusting.
33:46
Speaker 4: The Democrats say, this is about protecting children.
33:48
Speaker 6: The Democrats says, the texture made the United States citizens
33:50
Speaker 6: suffer for forty three days. Thankful a few Democrats couldn't
33:53
Speaker 6: torture the citizens anymore and voted to open up the
33:56
Speaker 6: government Texas. Thank you, Mike Pushkin shame on Congress, unwilling
33:59
Speaker 6: and able to do their job. As one representative said,
34:01
Speaker 6: they had a plan for healthcare. To date, they have
34:03
Speaker 6: done nothing to take away affordable health insurance during open enrollment.
34:07
Speaker 6: It's cruel and pathetic, pathetic on all.
34:09
Speaker 7: Of them in there. The Republicans have had fifteen years
34:12
Speaker 7: to come up with a better plan than the ACA.
34:15
Speaker 7: Fifteen years and they've had what we say in my culture,
34:19
Speaker 7: bubcuss bubcus. That's what they first time that's ever been
34:22
Speaker 7: said on the show. Right, I'm glad I could be
34:25
Speaker 7: the first great barriers on here. But they've come up
34:27
Speaker 7: with absolutely nothing. For those of you that don't speak
34:29
Speaker 7: you it ish out there. It means nothing. They got nothing,
34:31
Speaker 7: nothing on healthcare. Fifteen years, they've had a chance to
34:34
Speaker 7: come up with a plan.
34:35
Speaker 6: All right, two more texts here at Texas. Do you
34:37
Speaker 6: think that the government should have remained closed?
34:40
Speaker 7: I think that the Republicans need to come to the
34:43
Speaker 7: table on healthcare. And I think that Shelley Moore Capito
34:47
Speaker 7: and Jim Justice and Riley Moore and Carol Miller need
34:51
Speaker 7: to realize that their state, the state that they are
34:54
Speaker 7: supposed to be representing, West Virginia is going to be
34:57
Speaker 7: the most devastated by this failure to provide a plan
35:02
Speaker 7: on healthcare, to let these subsidies just run out, and
35:04
Speaker 7: we are going to see premium skyrocket in this state
35:08
Speaker 7: and a lot of people aren't going to be able
35:10
Speaker 7: to see a doctor, They're not going to be able
35:12
Speaker 7: to get preventative care. It is a crisis for this
35:14
Speaker 7: state and I think it needs to be treated that way,
35:17
Speaker 7: and these folks need to do something.
35:18
Speaker 4: My final text.
35:20
Speaker 6: They were calling for the release when Biden and the
35:21
Speaker 6: Clintons were thought to be on it. Magas didn't think
35:24
Speaker 6: Trump was in it because they wear blinders and Republicans
35:27
Speaker 6: care about children. Question mark, they litigated against funding snap
35:30
Speaker 6: final Here's.
35:31
Speaker 7: The proof right here. If this exonerated Trump, he would
35:35
Speaker 7: be releasing it. Instead, he's doing everything that he can
35:39
Speaker 7: to block it. He's trying to block it. He's having
35:42
Speaker 7: his director of the FBI and his Attorney General call
35:45
Speaker 7: in Lauren Bobert to the situation room, a room that
35:48
Speaker 7: is reserved for whin there's a war, actual war crisis,
35:52
Speaker 7: and are calling her into the situation room to try
35:54
Speaker 7: to bully her and taking her name off of that
35:56
Speaker 7: petition and thankfully she stood up to them, like a
35:59
Speaker 7: lot of Repubs lookings are going to do. You're going
36:01
Speaker 7: to see this, A lot of them are going to
36:02
Speaker 7: stand up to them because they know it's wrong. This
36:05
Speaker 7: is about protecting children, that's it. Not about protecting the
36:08
Speaker 7: President of the United States. Is about justice.
36:11

Speaker 6: A two man team located to the body of the
39:31
Speaker 6: missing miner who was Foreman Steve Lipscomb, trapped in the
39:35

39:39
Speaker 6: know the story by now. The Governor and the first

39:45
Speaker 6: of the tragic loss. Keeping mister Lipscomb's family and friends
39:48
Speaker 6: in prayers, and more details are going to come out
39:51
Speaker 6: about this later. It was twenty years of experience mister
39:55
Speaker 6: Lipscomb had, and it is believed and there are various
39:59
Speaker 6: various places that are reporting this that that he in
40:05
Speaker 6: then I and I and I said this, it's it's been.
40:08
Speaker 6: It's believed that he died in saving his man, because
40:12

40:21
Speaker 6: more in that coming up on talk Line at ten

40:25

40:34
Speaker 6: Obamacare was supposed to be the holy grail of healthcare
40:37

41:10
Speaker 6: that you actually have something to get him on. As

41:15
Speaker 6: Medicaid coverage through Affordable Healthcare Acts or ACA. That's what
41:20
Speaker 6: it's called your medical insurance.
41:21
Speaker 4: The skyrocket Medicaid doesn't cover the cost of care, says
41:24
Speaker 4: a texture. Text says, good morning, Dave.
41:26
Speaker 6: It's a great morning where I have managed to not
41:28

42:08
Speaker 6: I'm having a serious throwdown discussion here with the Democratic
42:13
Speaker 6: Party chair Mike Pushkin, and I look through the window
42:16
Speaker 6: and there's a giant turkey staring through the glass at me.
42:20
Speaker 6: And the first thing I thought was, don't do shrooms
42:23
Speaker 6: before you go on the air, Dave. And then I realized, Okay,
42:26
Speaker 6: it's Rob Reel and a turkey hat. So of course,
42:29

42:31

42:45

42:53

42:58
Speaker 6: We set up the tents, we set up the vans,
43:00
Speaker 6: and we send our staff outside as best we can.
43:03
Speaker 6: We always got somebody out there, but you know there's
43:05
Speaker 6: that whole radio thing gets in the way sometimes seven
43:07
Speaker 6: am until six pm. Next Thursday, we're asking people to
43:12
Speaker 6: bring us turkeys. Just that's the hardest part to get
43:15
Speaker 6: for the holiday meal is the frozen turkey, because well
43:19
Speaker 6: it's perishable, and it takes up a lot of space
43:22
Speaker 6: and it's the most expensive thing. So food banks tend
43:25
Speaker 6: to do very well this time of year with all
43:27
Speaker 6: of the non perishable and the side type stuff. But
43:30
Speaker 6: we want to get turkeys on tables and politics aside.
43:35
Speaker 6: Even with you know, bills being voted on and signed,
43:40
Speaker 6: it still takes a while to get a stopped aircraft
43:43
Speaker 6: carrier to start moving again. And that's what the federal
43:46
Speaker 6: government is. It is an aircraft carrier and it's been
43:49
Speaker 6: dead in the water for forty three days and it's
43:51
Speaker 6: going to take some time to get that moving. So
43:53
Speaker 6: this is going to be an even tougher year for
43:57
Speaker 6: lots of folks here in West Virginia. And we are
44:01
Speaker 6: in no politics zone up real early on ninety six
44:03
Speaker 6: to one kws.
44:05
Speaker 4: So I just want to feed people, That's all I
44:08
Speaker 4: want to do. I want to feed people on some
44:10
Speaker 4: reasons or whatever. And this is something I mean, you know,
44:13
Speaker 4: this is not as you said.
44:15
Speaker 6: It's this has been put on steroids because of the
44:18
Speaker 6: government shut down, all right, However, we've been doing things
44:21
Speaker 6: similar to this for some time because this people are
44:24
Speaker 6: hungry in West Virginia before this ever happened. This is
44:28
Speaker 6: our third year of the drive through Turkey Drop. App
44:31
Speaker 6: Latch and Power Company has come on board, so app
44:33
Speaker 6: Co is powering it.
44:34
Speaker 4: Union Mission is our partner. They do all the heavy lifting.
44:37
Speaker 6: And I don't just mean the frozen turkeys that you
44:39
Speaker 6: hand us through the window, or maybe you've got a
44:41
Speaker 6: bunch in the back.
44:42
Speaker 4: You can just pop the hatch.
44:43
Speaker 6: You do not have to get out of your nice, warm,
44:45
Speaker 6: comfortable vehicle. We will do all of the work of
44:49
Speaker 6: taking the turkeys and stacking them. Cash and check donations
44:53
Speaker 6: are always warmly accepted.
44:55
Speaker 4: Green is always the right color.
44:56
Speaker 6: Whatever you can spare is always the right size because
44:59
Speaker 6: let me tell you, Jason and everybody at Union Mission, boy.
45:02
Speaker 4: Can they stretch those dollar donations. I mean they will.
45:05
Speaker 4: They're good at it.
45:05
Speaker 6: I mean yeah, those organizations like Union Mission and others,
45:08
Speaker 6: and you know, whether it's the Feeding Hunger Food Bank
45:10
Speaker 6: or whatever, these folks do a lot better with strat
45:13
Speaker 6: Now I want to have them come do my grocery
45:15
Speaker 6: shopping for me, because they're a whole lot better at
45:18
Speaker 6: it rob than what we are. And I can cite
45:19
Speaker 6: all of the data that says how much farther they
45:23
Speaker 6: can make the money go. I also understand that it
45:27
Speaker 6: is human nature to want to have something tangible to handover.
45:32
Speaker 6: That's that's why we're doing the frozen turkeys. And for
45:35
Speaker 6: those of you playing our home game, yes, it's kind
45:37
Speaker 6: of inspired by the Turkeys Away episode of w KRP
45:40
Speaker 6: in Cincinnati.
45:41
Speaker 4: That's the turkey drop of it all. But you just you.
45:44
Speaker 6: Swing through our parking lot. It will not take you long.
45:48
Speaker 6: So as you're as you're getting ready to do maybe
45:51
Speaker 6: your weekend grocery shopping, maybe you're already planning your own
45:54
Speaker 6: Thanksgiving feast and starting to get the things. If you're smart,
45:58
Speaker 6: you are, Yeah, you don't want to be shopping on
46:01
Speaker 6: Wednesday or Thursday morning, but go ahead and yeah, well
46:03
Speaker 6: it'll look like a bomb went off at your local store.
46:06
Speaker 6: But also it takes a while for the turkey to thaw.
46:09
Speaker 6: We we have timed out the best arc of how
46:14
Speaker 6: to use these turkeys to have them for folks ready
46:17
Speaker 6: for Thanksgiving, and the Thursday before is the day to
46:19
Speaker 6: do it. And so for our third go round, I
46:22
Speaker 6: would love for this to be our biggest year, all right, and.
46:24
Speaker 4: It'll be next Thursday.
46:25
Speaker 6: We wanted to go ahead make as you said, people
46:27
Speaker 6: are doing grocery shopping this weekend. We want to go
46:29
Speaker 6: ahead and get an under schedule. And we're out on
46:31
Speaker 6: the parking. All of our stations are this is kind
46:33
Speaker 6: of your baby, but we all but we all help. Yes,
46:35
Speaker 6: so the mountain to beat B one hundred. We're all
46:37
Speaker 6: going to be out there, you know, seven am to
46:40
Speaker 6: six pm next week.
46:41
Speaker 4: I was looking at that for what it's worth.
46:43
Speaker 6: The extended forecast next Thursday a slight chance of ran
46:48
Speaker 6: in sixty one. It doesn't matter whether it snows whatever.
46:51

Speaker 6: Hits Every, WEST.
51:17
Speaker 4: Virginia tj but for those of us that are from
51:19
Speaker 4: coal country families were all, in mining it hits a
51:23
Speaker 4: little closer.
51:23
Speaker 15: To home you go underground and you take, a risk you,
51:28
Speaker 15: know that and the brave men and women that do
51:31
Speaker 15: that take a risk, every day and they do that
51:34
Speaker 15: to be able to provide a good life for. Their
51:36
Speaker 15: family so we turn our thoughts to the. Grieving family
51:40
Speaker 15: we pray for peace for that family through, this tragedy
51:43
Speaker 15: that they can somehow find some peace as they deal
51:46
Speaker 15: with what. Has HAPPENED and i think we also turn
51:49
Speaker 15: to understand what, Has happened how did this come? To
51:52
Speaker 15: be why didn't he make? It out where did this water?
51:56
Speaker 15: Come from did we know the water?
51:58
Speaker 7: Was there.
52:00
Speaker 15: Those ARE questions i think that, deserve answers and for
52:03
Speaker 15: the family and for, the industry because you need to
52:06
Speaker 15: learn from these incidents as much as you can to.
52:08
Speaker 6: Make, them say as tragic as it is to say
52:10
Speaker 6: every innovation that the coal mining industry has made a
52:14
Speaker 6: great deal, Of them i'll say have come from a.
52:16
Speaker 6: Previous tragedy and that's true of, any industry as, you
52:19
