- 0:00SPEAKER_05: You the adventurer?
- 0:02SPEAKER_05: Yes, you.
- 0:03SPEAKER_05: Do you desire knowledge of immense worlds and arcane power?
- 0:07SPEAKER_05: A codex of untold stories and lore?
- 0:10SPEAKER_05: Or perhaps simply easy listening for your daily commute?
- 0:13SPEAKER_05: Then feast your eyes, or more accurately, yes, upon Dungeon Pedia.
- 0:19SPEAKER_05: Shit's about to get nerdy in here.
- 0:46SPEAKER_03: Hey there, Stanfield.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: And I'm Travis Beasley.
- 0:49SPEAKER_01: Guys, I miss DD so much.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: It has been so long since we've actually played.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 0:55SPEAKER_01: Like we talk about it.
- 0:57SPEAKER_01: Like we talk about it all the time.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: And it's like on our minds all the time.
- 1:01SPEAKER_03: And like we've tried to do it we we've done it a couple of times over like uh video calls and stuff, but it's not the same.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: It's not the same.
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: And we it wasn't in our like running, like our actual running campaign.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: So it like like it's a lot of fun, but you know, I I specifically do miss that.
- 1:21SPEAKER_03: That sitting in the same room, everyone hunched over the same set of dice while you're waiting for your friend to roll with disadvantage.
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:30SPEAKER_01: And you're just like the the the tension.
- 1:33SPEAKER_01: And like I had a I I was talking to one of my coworkers about DD, uh, and we were talking about like well, like our old like Pathfinder campaign basically came up in conversation, and that made me into nostalgic for that.
- 1:46SPEAKER_01: And it's like, oh.
- 1:48SPEAKER_03: Uh we actually talked to um we went through the Starbucks drive-thru the other day.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: We meaning me and me and Taylor.
- 1:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah, sorry.
- 1:57SPEAKER_03: Thomas and I.
- 1:58SPEAKER_03: Um and uh the lady, you know, is talking to us while while making my drink, and it it asks us what we were doing, and she says something off-handedly about how the own about how she's in school, so she has no free time.
- 2:13SPEAKER_03: And the only free time she ever has is to uh she took off and like she decided to take a day off of school so that she could go play D.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: Mad respect.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: She said that she was gonna take a zero on the assignment for that day just so she could play DD.
- 2:30SPEAKER_03: I was like, I respect you, ma'am.
- 2:32SPEAKER_03: And I was like, also, can we adopt you?
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: Take it, take a zero on that assignment so you can take a 20 on your stick.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: The better, uh, the better bit from the story is she plays a gnome barbarian.
- 2:49SPEAKER_03: We we love a gnome barbarian.
- 2:51SPEAKER_03: These these are a few of my favorite things.
- 2:54SPEAKER_03: And like the whole time I'm thinking, Capsus is gonna steal this woman and like take her to his DM room and be like, okay.
- 3:03SPEAKER_03: Sounds so bad.
- 3:04SPEAKER_03: It's time.
- 3:05SPEAKER_01: It sounds really bad.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: His dungeon, if you will.
- 3:08SPEAKER_03: Okay, but it's all friendly in the in the name of DMing.
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: Man, I really hope she doesn't listen to this, actually.
- 3:14SPEAKER_03: Actually, yeah.
- 3:15SPEAKER_03: Everyone else, thank you so much for listening, but ma'am, you're not allowed to listen to this.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: Because we probably just creeped you out.
- 3:21SPEAKER_03: We're just talking about playing Dungeons and Dragons together.
- 3:25SPEAKER_03: I'm sorry.
- 3:27SPEAKER_03: Anyways.
- 3:28SPEAKER_03: Please don't put us on a list.
- 3:29SPEAKER_03: I was attempting to segue that into thanking everyone for listening so much and being so excited about our coming back.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 3:38SPEAKER_01: I I cry like this if you cry every time.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: But with like anytime somebody like sends us like a nice message or like makes a nice reply to like one of our like one of our tweets or whatever, um, especially after having been after having been gone for a bit, because there was a part of me that was like, man, when we Yeah, when we come back and start posting again, people are gonna have they're gonna have moved on to the next hot DD Lore podcast.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: They're not gonna listen to us anymore.
- 4:04SPEAKER_01: So like whenever people leave like sweet comments, I'm just like eh.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: I'm still not sure if there's any other DD Lore podcasts.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: I mean, there's well, I mean, there's like still I I don't know.
- 4:18SPEAKER_01: There's some.
- 4:19SPEAKER_01: I like I don't listen to podcasts that aren't ours.
- 4:22SPEAKER_01: That's a lie.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: I was just saying, I just think the McElroy family specifically has your soul.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: Hey, firmly in their hey, listen, I've promised my soul to a lot of people, so it's gonna be interesting when I die.
- 4:35SPEAKER_01: Oh boy.
- 4:36SPEAKER_03: Anyway.
- 4:37SPEAKER_03: Anyway, um thank you for listening.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: That's we always say that at the end of the episode, sorry.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: But thank you for listening, and thank you guys for being such a thank you so much for your support and continued support for a it is a fantastic feeling.
- 4:51SPEAKER_01: And I'm deeply sorry if Taylor and Travis creeped you out in a Starbucks line.
- 4:55SPEAKER_00: Random Starbucks barista.
- 4:58SPEAKER_03: We're sorry.
- 4:59SPEAKER_03: Anyway.
- 5:00SPEAKER_03: So Travis, what do you have prepared for us?
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: Uh well, we are going to finish the Yuan T.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: Yay.
- 5:09SPEAKER_01: The the you want two.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: Also, damn, Taylor, you sounded not even a little bit excited with that game.
- 5:19SPEAKER_03: So actually, no, I have a question.
- 5:21SPEAKER_03: Were you lying to me when you told me that you had the uh Yuan T part two notes done?
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: No.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: I'm confused.
- 5:31SPEAKER_03: Uh when we went out the other day uh to uh go outside, he said, Oh, don't worry about it.
- 5:38SPEAKER_03: We uh I have the I'm pretty sure I have the notes done.
- 5:41SPEAKER_03: And then he locked himself in the office for like two hours.
- 5:44SPEAKER_03: Don't worry about it.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so it turns out they weren't totally done.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: Happens.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: Uh I finished them.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: So here we stand.
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: The feeling when you think you're done, but then you discover like five other books and you're like, fuck.
- 5:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: Big, big mood.
- 6:01SPEAKER_03: So you have a lot of stuff on the UNT for us?
- 6:04SPEAKER_03: I do.
- 6:04SPEAKER_03: A lot of s stuff.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: Because we're back to the snakes.
- 6:09SPEAKER_01: Yes, snakes.
- 6:11SPEAKER_01: Okay, I'll stop now.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: So uh if I recall correctly, we ended the part one with the reading of the black broth.
- 6:19SPEAKER_03: Yes, I remember.
- 6:21SPEAKER_03: I do a cooking with Travis.
- 6:22SPEAKER_03: Yes, it was cooking with Travis.
- 6:24SPEAKER_03: I love our cooking with Travis segments.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: So our singular cooking with Travis segment.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: There might be more later, depends on if there's something similar.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: Not in this episode.
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: That's it for this one.
- 6:37SPEAKER_01: That's their only like cultural dish.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 6:41SPEAKER_00: So we learned the Yuan T and their whole weird thing.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: Drink this black broth to possibly become one of us or die.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: Whatever.
- 6:51SPEAKER_03: One of the two.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: Pretty much.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: Win-win.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: So this leaves us starting at third edition because we didn't get past that.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: Oh we really didn't get very far, did we?
- 7:02SPEAKER_00: We didn't.
- 7:03SPEAKER_00: The uh ecology of the Yuan T took up most of the last episode.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: As they often do, because they're good.
- 7:08SPEAKER_03: They are very good.
- 7:10SPEAKER_00: So I can't remember if I uh actually did say this part or not, but I'm going to anyway, just in case.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: So from the monster compendium, Monsters of Pharun for third edition, which was in 2001, their origin stories are kind of mixed.
- 7:29SPEAKER_03: Mm-hmm.
- 7:29SPEAKER_03: Uh-huh.
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: Um, they're said to be descended from humans who interbred with like an ancient sauroid race.
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: Cool.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: But they are also created by like the same process as like the first Yuan T by drinking a mixture of like distilled venom and whatnot.
- 7:50SPEAKER_00: So they have this sort of weird mixed background.
- 7:55SPEAKER_01: Hmm.
- 7:55SPEAKER_01: Like in a in a like a jumbling of like these are two these are two purported theories kind of way, or just like in a It's both somehow.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's my only guess is the original ones were descended from interbreeding, and then any ones current are made from drinking this weird distillation of things.
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: I mean, I guess.
- 8:20SPEAKER_01: I guess there's more than one way to make a baby.
- 8:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's yeah, you drink stuff apparently.
- 8:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 8:26SPEAKER_01: You just gotta drink stuff.
- 8:27SPEAKER_01: It's in the water.
- 8:28SPEAKER_01: Well, I mean the chemicals in the water, they're turning the people into snakes.
- 8:34SPEAKER_01: I guess, um well, I mean, I guess maybe like from an outside like alien perspective, like maybe like in vitro fertilization would seem weird.
- 8:42SPEAKER_01: So it's like, do y'all fuck?
- 8:44SPEAKER_01: Or do you do some science stuff in a petri dish and then you make a baby?
- 8:48SPEAKER_01: Maybe.
- 8:49SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 8:50SPEAKER_01: Black broth is IVF, confirmed.
- 8:52SPEAKER_00: I mean, I don't know, but because strangely, they are actually reduced to only having two types rather than the three.
- 9:00SPEAKER_01: Mm-hmm.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: Which you only have tainted ones and brood guards.
- 9:04SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 9:05SPEAKER_01: Uh refresh my memory on what a tainted one was.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: So the tainted ones in this are basically the same as what pure bloods are from other editions.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: Their bodies don't show any like sign of snakiness.
- 9:20SPEAKER_00: Their weird tainted snakiness blood.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 9:22SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
- 9:23SPEAKER_03: Remember, it was the other reverse.
- 9:25SPEAKER_03: They the purebret blood was the better one.
- 9:29SPEAKER_03: Or it was the worst looking.
- 9:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they were like human-looking and worse.
- 9:33SPEAKER_01: And then at the other end of the spectrum, you had abominations who were mostly snake and considered the highest in their society.
- 9:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 9:42SPEAKER_01: What was the middle tier again?
- 9:44SPEAKER_01: Tier.
- 9:44SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: The middle tier.
- 9:46SPEAKER_01: Um half breed.
- 9:48SPEAKER_01: Half breed, okay.
- 9:49SPEAKER_01: Yes, half breed.
- 9:50SPEAKER_01: Okay, so um tainted one was not part of that.
- 9:53SPEAKER_01: Okay, so these are both new terms.
- 9:55SPEAKER_00: They're basically like full blood yuan tea, or sorry, not full blood, pure blood yuan tea from the other ones.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: Gotcha.
- 10:03SPEAKER_00: And those are created if drinking the mixture is successful.
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: If the process fails or goes wrong in any way, it creates a brood guard, which in this particular instance is also just a histachi.
- 10:17SPEAKER_02: Okay, the the oh the the weird hairless The thing that made me feel yucky.
- 10:23SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: With the mi emaciated bodies and that they that they had sex with to make other yeah.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: Except in this one, they're just called brood guards and they pretty much just guard the brood chambers where Okay, that actually does feel a little bit better, I will say.
- 10:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, so basically now what you're saying is basically we only have the really boring mostly human ones.
- 10:50SPEAKER_01: Pretty much.
- 10:50SPEAKER_01: Sorry.
- 10:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 10:52SPEAKER_03: What edition was this again?
- 10:53SPEAKER_03: Third.
- 10:54SPEAKER_00: Third for 2003.
- 10:55SPEAKER_03: So how is fourth going to fuck it up even more?
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: Well, you'll see.
- 10:59SPEAKER_00: Oh no.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: You'll see.
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: Oh no.
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: So for third edition, the Fiendfolio in 2003 introduced another variant called the Anathema.
- 11:12SPEAKER_00: The Anathema.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: Oh, did didn't we?
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: Was there one of those in the last episode?
- 11:19SPEAKER_01: Possibly.
- 11:20SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna cut out all of the bits that are just me trying to remember the last episode and then the episode.
- 11:26SPEAKER_01: And then the episode's gonna be five minutes long.
- 11:30SPEAKER_03: Because I'm mostly just like, wait, what?
- 11:33SPEAKER_03: Um The word anathema sounds familiar.
- 11:36SPEAKER_03: But I don't know.
- 11:37SPEAKER_01: Well, it's like in a historical like Yeah, it is because I think it's it's in a lot of stuff.
- 11:42SPEAKER_01: It wasn't in this notes.
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: I think it means like not nothing, nothingness.
- 11:49SPEAKER_01: Or like obsolete.
- 11:51SPEAKER_01: Obsolescence?
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 11:53SPEAKER_03: Uh anathema.
- 11:54SPEAKER_03: Something or someone that one vehemently dislikes.
- 11:59SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay.
- 11:59SPEAKER_01: Never mind.
- 12:00SPEAKER_01: I was thinking of another word.
- 12:01SPEAKER_03: Formal curse by a pope.
- 12:03SPEAKER_03: Oh, dang.
- 12:04SPEAKER_03: Jesus.
- 12:04SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 12:05SPEAKER_00: Okay, so that kind of makes sense for what an anathema is.
- 12:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 12:10SPEAKER_03: Well, go ahead and put the definition in there, um, if you would like.
- 12:15SPEAKER_03: Uh Popes.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: Catholicism.
- 12:19SPEAKER_03: The Catholic Church has arrived.
- 12:20SPEAKER_00: The anathema are the most loathsome form of the Yuan T race.
- 12:26SPEAKER_03: Loathsome to their own or loathsome to the rest of us?
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: To their own.
- 12:30SPEAKER_03: Oh, okay.
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: Like kind of like lower than even the gods.
- 12:37SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 12:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:39SPEAKER_01: Interesting.
- 12:40SPEAKER_01: Um the name makes sense then.
- 12:42SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 12:43SPEAKER_00: So it's said that they represent such perversion of their original human nature that their very existence is heresy against all the deities of humanity, no matter how evil.
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 12:58SPEAKER_01: What okay.
- 13:00SPEAKER_02: But like, why do you care?
- 13:04SPEAKER_01: Well, and also like, why would any of the human deities like care?
- 13:08SPEAKER_01: Anyway.
- 13:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, like the UNT just don't make sense to me.
- 13:13SPEAKER_03: I think it's another other thing.
- 13:15SPEAKER_01: Especially the most like the most like chaotic evil of the the human deities.
- 13:21SPEAKER_01: Like, they don't care.
- 13:22SPEAKER_01: I'm trying to think of a chaotic evil human deity.
- 13:25SPEAKER_01: But I'm sure there's one.
- 13:27SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm sure I'm missing one.
- 13:29SPEAKER_01: But like, they don't care.
- 13:31SPEAKER_01: Orcus doesn't care.
- 13:33SPEAKER_00: Well, about there are there are reasons why the Yuan T don't like them.
- 13:40SPEAKER_00: Because they kind of why deities don't really like them.
- 13:42SPEAKER_01: Because they kind of look like snakes, and snakes are bad.
- 13:46SPEAKER_01: Sorry.
- 13:46SPEAKER_00: Um, they actually are mostly snake.
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 13:50SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 13:51SPEAKER_00: They have the shape of an enormous serpent, which is around like 25 feet long.
- 13:57SPEAKER_03: God damn.
- 13:58SPEAKER_00: A pair of arms and the vague shape of a humanoid torso are like the last human-like vestiges that they have.
- 14:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 14:09SPEAKER_00: Vestiges is a good word.
- 14:10SPEAKER_00: A yeah, so like a pair of arms and the vague shape of like the humanoid chest is kind of all they have left of their human.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: So they have a snake head?
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 14:20SPEAKER_01: Hell yeah.
- 14:21SPEAKER_01: That sounds like a cool dude you could party with.
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: What's wrong with that?
- 14:25SPEAKER_00: Um, we haven't talked about their character yet, but you know.
- 14:28SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 14:28SPEAKER_00: The arms end in clawed hands with only three fingers.
- 14:33SPEAKER_03: Why?
- 14:33SPEAKER_03: Snakes don't have okay.
- 14:35SPEAKER_03: Well, they have less fingers than humans, but more fingers than snakes.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: And snakes do have fewer fingers than humans.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: They do have a snake head, but it's technically snakes.
- 14:50SPEAKER_00: Wait, what?
- 14:51SPEAKER_00: What?
- 14:52SPEAKER_00: Is it like a like is this like a medusa?
- 14:54SPEAKER_00: Kind of.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: So in place of a head, they have six long serpents that jut out from the top of the torso.
- 15:01SPEAKER_01: Oh, do they all have different personalities?
- 15:03SPEAKER_01: It didn't specify.
- 15:05SPEAKER_01: Are they like a like a like a dodo?
- 15:07SPEAKER_00: Possibly.
- 15:09SPEAKER_03: Up to interpretation, basically.
- 15:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, that's pretty much what I would go with, is you can probably interpret that to be that way.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 15:17SPEAKER_00: And, you know, obviously this then gives them the ability to see in all directions.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: That's that's six friends.
- 15:25SPEAKER_00: They can attack as many as eight different opponents at once.
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: Because you have the two hands and then the six heads that can all strike individually.
- 15:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's strange, man.
- 15:40SPEAKER_03: It's not a pretty picture, I'll admit.
- 15:42SPEAKER_00: No.
- 15:43SPEAKER_00: Um, I will say that their scales are like kind of beautiful though.
- 15:48SPEAKER_00: Like their scales range in shades of like deep maroons to like midnight blues or violet black.
- 15:55unknown: Hmm.
- 15:56SPEAKER_00: Or if you're me when writing these notes, violet black.
- 15:59SPEAKER_01: Violet black, yep.
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: Because I apparently don't know how to type.
- 16:03SPEAKER_01: New colour.
- 16:04SPEAKER_00: New color, violet.
- 16:05SPEAKER_00: Violet.
- 16:06SPEAKER_03: Violet.
- 16:07SPEAKER_03: What's the violet?
- 16:09SPEAKER_00: Spectrum does that bag.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: Never mind.
- 16:11SPEAKER_00: You answered that question.
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: Oh, um, they're also psionic.
- 16:17SPEAKER_03: Um, excuse me, what?
- 16:18SPEAKER_01: Great, love it, love it.
- 16:20SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 16:21SPEAKER_01: Six psychic friends.
- 16:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 16:24SPEAKER_00: One of my favorite powers that they have from their psionics is the chameleon power.
- 16:30SPEAKER_01: Ooh.
- 16:31SPEAKER_00: Which uh allows them to change the coloration of like their entire self, basically, and its equipment to match its surroundings.
- 16:40SPEAKER_03: I like it.
- 16:41SPEAKER_00: So I don't know how much you remember we're just gonna pretend like we remember all of it.
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: Have seen even the first Mortal Kombat movie.
- 16:53SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: But uh, you know how Reptile before he got thrown into the big statue and became an actual like human was this weird, badly animated, like, chameleon thing that kept changing colors as it ran.
- 17:09SPEAKER_00: That's pretty much that, only 25 feet long.
- 17:12SPEAKER_00: I've never seen this film, and that makes me sad.
- 17:15SPEAKER_03: That's insane.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: Um, they can also just like exude acid from their body.
- 17:20SPEAKER_03: Great.
- 17:21SPEAKER_03: Um, yeah, sure, why not?
- 17:23SPEAKER_00: Which just deals a shit ton of damage if anything touches it.
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 17:28SPEAKER_00: Um, it can obviously like grapple or constrict an opponent.
- 17:33SPEAKER_00: And then it has this other lovely ability called dissolving touch.
- 17:37SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: Which, if they use that while they're constricting or grappling anything, the acid deals 10 d6 damage to fuck you.
- 17:46SPEAKER_01: Fuck you, my man.
- 17:48SPEAKER_01: You know, I think the um the tainted Yuan T uh just dislike these guys and consider them uh anathema.
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: Is that how you pronounce that?
- 18:00SPEAKER_01: Anathema?
- 18:00SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 18:01SPEAKER_01: Probably they just consider them that way because they're jealous of how fucking cool they are.
- 18:07SPEAKER_01: They do.
- 18:07SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna lie, they sound kind of cool.
- 18:09SPEAKER_01: If I was just like me and I saw, like, I don't know, my fucking cousin or something like that was one of those guys, was a cool, like, six-headed serpent, 25-foot-long serpent, I'd be like, fuck.
- 18:20SPEAKER_01: I wouldn't be like that.
- 18:21SPEAKER_01: I fucking hate you.
- 18:22SPEAKER_01: I'm jealous of you.
- 18:23SPEAKER_01: They're just jealous, is what it is.
- 18:25SPEAKER_00: So I think one of the reasons at least most of the deities don't like them is because they have the ability to attach eight Yuan T graphs like each day to a humanoid creature to cause them to like look more and more like a Yuan T.
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: So they kind of create their own like race stitched abomination, like Yuan T together from pretty much any human they want.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: Any humanoid creature, even.
- 18:58SPEAKER_00: Where do I sign up?
- 19:00SPEAKER_00: Well, you would probably have to go find one.
- 19:02SPEAKER_01: Okay, well, they're pretty big, can't be that hard.
- 19:05SPEAKER_00: I mean, yes, they're also fairly rare.
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: And there's a later edition that explains why the Yuan T don't like them.
- 19:13SPEAKER_01: Okay, cool.
- 19:14SPEAKER_01: So for now it's just jealousy, in my opinion.
- 19:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, let's go with that.
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: It's just jealousy.
- 19:20SPEAKER_01: They're just jealous.
- 19:22SPEAKER_03: They're just jealous, honey.
- 19:24SPEAKER_01: Jealousy is the disease.
- 19:25SPEAKER_01: Get well soon.
- 19:26SPEAKER_00: So quite a bit of the information comes from 3.5, actually.
- 19:33SPEAKER_00: Nice.
- 19:34SPEAKER_00: From a book called Serpent Kingdoms.
- 19:37SPEAKER_02: Ooh.
- 19:38SPEAKER_00: Which there's so much information in it that I kind of just plucked little bits because I didn't want this episode to be like six hours long.
- 19:47SPEAKER_00: So if you want more information, you need to just skim through the Serpent Kingdoms book.
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: It was a 3.5 source book.
- 19:58SPEAKER_00: So you can find it online.
- 20:00SPEAKER_00: Fairly simple.
- 20:02SPEAKER_00: But um this gives a different sort of beginning for the Yuan T.
- 20:09SPEAKER_00: Nice.
- 20:10SPEAKER_00: Uh the first Yuan T were created through controlled breeding experiments that melded humans with serpents and Saruk.
- 20:20SPEAKER_01: Huh.
- 20:20SPEAKER_01: Love it.
- 20:21SPEAKER_00: Uh the or I'm sorry, Saruk.
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: Either way.
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: The Saruk were serpent-like humanoids and were one of the five progenitor races of Pharun.
- 20:31SPEAKER_02: Oh, that was good.
- 20:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so they were very like beginning of time.
- 20:38SPEAKER_00: And apparently they created the Yuanti.
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: Uh they were altered and augmented by Saruk magic, and eventually became the most powerful and successful of the created scaled races.
- 20:53SPEAKER_00: Like knocking out Nagas and whatever the hell those other weird things were called.
- 20:59SPEAKER_00: The Amphib Amphispanus?
- 21:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 21:02SPEAKER_01: Amphispinos?
- 21:04SPEAKER_01: I think.
- 21:05SPEAKER_01: What?
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: Hang on.
- 21:07SPEAKER_01: Yet again.
- 21:08SPEAKER_01: Huh?
- 21:09SPEAKER_00: The Ophidians.
- 21:10SPEAKER_01: Ophidians, that's right.
- 21:11SPEAKER_01: The 13th Zodiac sign.
- 21:13SPEAKER_00: I was like, I know that that freaking name is here somewhere.
- 21:16SPEAKER_00: So yeah, they wound up being the most successful of the Saruk's creations.
- 21:21SPEAKER_00: Well, the scaled races anyway.
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: And because of this, the Saruk favored them and would entrust them with the most important tasks.
- 21:31SPEAKER_03: Whatever those were.
- 21:32SPEAKER_03: Whatever those were, the the most important ones.
- 21:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, a lot of it was like being in command of lizard folk armies and entrusting them to do like trade and important jobs.
- 21:48SPEAKER_00: Everything run stuff.
- 21:50SPEAKER_00: Basically, they were not slaves.
- 21:52SPEAKER_00: I mean, or they were just slaves who had different jobs.
- 21:55SPEAKER_00: They were slaves with freedom ish.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: Because they were still like kind of controlled.
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: But the weirdest part is is the Yuanti were actually happy to serve the Sark at this point.
- 22:10SPEAKER_03: Oh god, what's that stupid quote?
- 22:13SPEAKER_03: If a slave doesn't know he's a slave, is he still a slave?
- 22:16SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 22:17SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 22:18SPEAKER_00: But they believed that it was the will of Seth for them to do so.
- 22:23SPEAKER_00: Oh Seth was their god.
- 22:26SPEAKER_00: Their god in this, since the last one has been more or less just turned into his own little realm.
- 22:38SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he's just kind of doing his own thing.
- 22:41SPEAKER_00: But um because of how much they were entrusted and everything by the Ceruk, the growth of their intelligence and their society and their faith were actually light years ahead, basically.
- 22:57SPEAKER_00: Like they were able to grow so fast compared to the other races.
- 23:02SPEAKER_00: Got that eventually it weakened their obedience to the Sorak and they lost the ability to control them.
- 23:12SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 23:13SPEAKER_00: Well, okay.
- 23:14SPEAKER_01: Who would have thought?
- 23:16SPEAKER_00: Most of the ability.
- 23:17SPEAKER_00: They do still retain one ability to alter the Yuan T bodies at will.
- 23:25SPEAKER_00: Oh what gross?
- 23:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they can apparently use their magics to alter the Yuan T's bodies like at will.
- 23:32SPEAKER_00: And they will still occasionally coerce individuals into service by threatening them with this power because a Yuan T does not want to lose its Yuan Tiness.
- 23:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, its figure basically.
- 23:44SPEAKER_03: I'd keep my figure.
- 23:46SPEAKER_01: It's snake-shaped.
- 23:47SPEAKER_01: And it's just it's just like a like a like a thick python.
- 23:51SPEAKER_01: It's like, oh no, don't give me legs.
- 23:53SPEAKER_00: It's a thick python.
- 23:54SPEAKER_01: Hey, they they thick boys.
- 23:56SPEAKER_01: I love pythons.
- 23:57SPEAKER_00: There's some thick boys.
- 23:59SPEAKER_00: And eventually they grew to picture the Saruk as lazy, decadent, and inattentive.
- 24:08SPEAKER_01: G!
- 24:09SPEAKER_00: Like they got really like stuck up really quick.
- 24:14SPEAKER_01: Well, I mean, I don't know if it's if it's if it's stuck up to feel that way about the the race that enslaved you and made you out of selective breeding for however many years.
- 24:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, I'm I'm kind of with Lewin on this one.
- 24:26SPEAKER_01: I'm kind of with the UNT on this one.
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: Uh uh, I mean, okay.
- 24:29SPEAKER_01: I mean, and I have the I do have the the snake bias, but I I'm just looking at that and thinking, good for them.
- 24:35SPEAKER_00: That that's fair.
- 24:36SPEAKER_00: That's fair.
- 24:37SPEAKER_00: So this all started in the Mareshulk Empire.
- 24:42SPEAKER_00: Cool.
- 24:42SPEAKER_00: It's a very uh it's a weird name.
- 24:44SPEAKER_00: I might not even be pronouncing that right, but close enough.
- 24:48SPEAKER_00: But um apparently the Mereshulk Empire had this slight problem later on where they were attacked like almost constantly by various foes and various like outside forces.
- 25:04SPEAKER_00: It specified that it was most notably dragons.
- 25:09SPEAKER_00: That sucks.
- 25:10SPEAKER_00: So Rip.
- 25:12SPEAKER_00: Eventually, they launched a full-on like assault on the Empire and just crushed the Cerok's armies.
- 25:23SPEAKER_01: Damn.
- 25:24SPEAKER_01: I mean, yeah.
- 25:25SPEAKER_00: Which, if you recall, were mostly led by Yuan T.
- 25:30SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 25:31SPEAKER_00: This, in turn, pissed off the Yuan T.
- 25:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 25:35SPEAKER_00: And led a lot of them to turn against the Saruk.
- 25:39SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 25:41SPEAKER_00: And eventually the Empire fell.
- 25:45SPEAKER_00: And the Yuan T were finally actually free.
- 25:49SPEAKER_00: Woo! Because dragons and then rise up and attack.
- 25:55SPEAKER_01: Okay, sometimes sometimes all you need is a good opportunistic dragon attack.
- 26:00SPEAKER_03: Okay, I mean, that's basically what happened in Eberon.
- 26:04SPEAKER_01: That's that's basically also what happened in Skyrim.
- 26:06SPEAKER_01: Okay, yeah, yeah.
- 26:08SPEAKER_03: So basically, what I've learned is that when dragons attack, there's going to be some sort of rebellion.
- 26:12SPEAKER_03: Just remember that.
- 26:13SPEAKER_00: You know, they say you have to remember that for the future.
- 26:16SPEAKER_01: When a door closes, sometimes a dragon crashes through the window.
- 26:20SPEAKER_00: I mean, could have just used the door, but sure.
- 26:22SPEAKER_01: Nope.
- 26:23SPEAKER_01: That's not how dragons are.
- 26:27SPEAKER_00: Hey, some dragons can shape change.
- 26:29SPEAKER_03: You're not wrong.
- 26:30SPEAKER_00: That is true.
- 26:31SPEAKER_00: So that is true.
- 26:33SPEAKER_00: At that point, if it is a shape-changing dragon, then they're just being an asshole by destroying the window.
- 26:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 26:39SPEAKER_03: Dragons are can be asses.
- 26:40SPEAKER_03: They can.
- 26:41SPEAKER_00: That's true, and a lot of people can't really stop them, so fair enough.
- 26:46SPEAKER_00: So um most of the Yuan T consider like the different variances among all of the other like sub races of them, the pure bloods and half bloods and whatnot, to be part of Seth's divine plan.
- 27:01SPEAKER_00: And they believe that each Yuan T is made for a specific purpose, and they should embrace that and fulfill their purpose.
- 27:10SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 27:11SPEAKER_00: Which is another reason why they can still be controlled with the whole I will alter your body thing.
- 27:18SPEAKER_01: Uh, because um they don't want it plays into their sense of values.
- 27:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, okay.
- 27:27SPEAKER_00: Because meddling with their form is considered a sinful act to them.
- 27:31SPEAKER_00: I mean, that's considered a sinful act to some humans too.
- 27:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 27:36SPEAKER_00: But, you know, obviously where you have one side, you have some of the other where there are ones that seek just to augment or alter themselves directly with like graphs or powerful magic.
- 27:48SPEAKER_01: Because they want to be better.
- 27:49SPEAKER_01: Or like tattoos and piercings, and they don't need tongue splits because they already got them, but you know.
- 27:56SPEAKER_00: Maybe they want to split their tongue splits into tongue splits.
- 27:59SPEAKER_01: Four tongues!
- 28:00SPEAKER_00: Four tongues, four tongues.
- 28:02SPEAKER_00: Man, just picturing that is just that's just weird.
- 28:06SPEAKER_03: I like it.
- 28:07SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 28:07SPEAKER_00: Um, these particular Yuan T, the ones that like to augment themselves.
- 28:13SPEAKER_00: The ones that are into body mods.
- 28:15SPEAKER_00: View the other ones, the pure bodied the straight edge.
- 28:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 28:22SPEAKER_00: As lazy, unworthy cattle.
- 28:25SPEAKER_02: Oh my!
- 28:26SPEAKER_00: That deserves to be dominated and defeated.
- 28:29SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 28:31SPEAKER_03: I see what they're into.
- 28:33SPEAKER_03: I don't know why that's so funny to me.
- 28:35SPEAKER_00: They like you have the extremes and then the extremes.
- 28:39SPEAKER_00: The extreme of the extremes, like, nah, they're just cattle.
- 28:42SPEAKER_00: Kill them.
- 28:43SPEAKER_00: Dang.
- 28:44SPEAKER_00: Dominate them first, then kill them.
- 28:47SPEAKER_01: I feel like they well then I feel like the the yuan tea uh and I guess you maybe you see this sometimes, but I feel like the yuan tea as a race have some issues, some self-image issues, maybe.
- 29:01SPEAKER_00: Maybe just a little bit.
- 29:03SPEAKER_01: You know?
- 29:04SPEAKER_00: It's possible.
- 29:06SPEAKER_01: It kind of leads them to have this superiority complex about themselves or other yuan te that they consider to be in the same class as themselves versus others, but not in a strictly like we're a higher level than you, but like it feels very personal.
- 29:23SPEAKER_01: I have some issues.
- 29:24SPEAKER_01: They need to go to snake therapy.
- 29:26SPEAKER_01: Snerapy.
- 29:27SPEAKER_01: Snerapy.
- 29:28SPEAKER_00: God damn it.
- 29:29SPEAKER_01: Like that I don't know why something about it feels like it just feels different for the UNT.
- 29:33SPEAKER_01: I feel like they have some some racial, maybe self-image issues.
- 29:39SPEAKER_01: Just saying.
- 29:43SPEAKER_00: They do, but they won't, so damn it.
- 29:47SPEAKER_00: Unfortunately, we're stuck dealing with it.
- 29:49SPEAKER_01: What?
- 29:49SPEAKER_01: Oh, I just meant damn it.
- 29:51SPEAKER_01: Oh they won't go to therapy.
- 29:53SPEAKER_03: Uh I I thought you were saying Taylor, and I was like, what?
- 29:56SPEAKER_03: Is it because I said snarapy?
- 29:58SPEAKER_00: Damn it, Taylor.
- 30:00SPEAKER_00: So we're going to transition into another little uh thing that we're gonna call learn to speak yuan tea.
- 30:08SPEAKER_00: Yes! And it's uh you do it that way, right?
- 30:12SPEAKER_00: You strike out your S's.
- 30:13SPEAKER_00: I mean, there are a lot of S's in this.
- 30:16SPEAKER_00: Nice.
- 30:17SPEAKER_00: So uh the Yuan T will call themselves Vrail Olo.
- 30:23SPEAKER_01: Vrail Olo.
- 30:24SPEAKER_00: Which translating that to like human is basically means like favored ones or friendly.
- 30:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 30:35SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 30:36SPEAKER_01: Friendly?
- 30:37SPEAKER_01: Friendly.
- 30:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like like it's like they're a Vrail Olo.
- 30:41SPEAKER_00: They are a known friendly Yuan T.
- 30:45SPEAKER_01: I mean, I don't think they're friendly to each other.
- 30:47SPEAKER_01: I think they really hate each other.
- 30:50SPEAKER_00: Some of them are friendly to each other.
- 30:52SPEAKER_01: Like deep in the on the inside, they hate each other.
- 30:55SPEAKER_00: It seems.
- 30:57SPEAKER_00: Um it definitely feels that way.
- 30:59SPEAKER_00: Usually shortened in general conversation to just vrail.
- 31:03SPEAKER_04: Mm-hmm.
- 31:04SPEAKER_00: And then can be modified to be either avrail, which means friendly or known.
- 31:12SPEAKER_00: And doothrail, which is unfriendly or unfamiliar.
- 31:17SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 31:18SPEAKER_00: Uh we have some other fun words with uh term of endearment.
- 31:24SPEAKER_03: Uh that they feel fondly about people?
- 31:27SPEAKER_00: Um just like a few.
- 31:30SPEAKER_00: A few that they are close to and like breed with, basically.
- 31:34SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 31:34SPEAKER_01: I mean, that usually helps you feel more fondly for someone.
- 31:37SPEAKER_00: Don't get me wrong.
- 31:38SPEAKER_00: They still do not hold very highly to like love or whatever.
- 31:43SPEAKER_00: Love and relationships and stuff, but they do have feelings, maybe?
- 31:48SPEAKER_00: Some feelings.
- 31:50SPEAKER_03: I don't hate you.
- 31:51SPEAKER_03: So I don't hate you too.
- 31:54unknown: God damn it.
- 31:56SPEAKER_00: Um, this can basically translate to being called deer or deer one in the human being.
- 32:02SPEAKER_03: Deer one.
- 32:03SPEAKER_00: Aww.
- 32:04SPEAKER_00: And it is tis.
- 32:06SPEAKER_00: T it is a T apostrophe I- S-S S, apostrophe T-E-S-S.
- 32:14SPEAKER_01: Tist.
- 32:15SPEAKER_01: Tistes.
- 32:16SPEAKER_01: Everyone repeat after Travis now.
- 32:18SPEAKER_01: Tistes.
- 32:19SPEAKER_01: Tistes.
- 32:20SPEAKER_00: And then they have a word for family or bloodkin, which is ahas.
- 32:26SPEAKER_02: Ahas.
- 32:28SPEAKER_00: The lesser tribe, which is like those that they live with or work with, not their actual like bloodkin, just more or less the ones around them.
- 32:38SPEAKER_04: Their community.
- 32:39SPEAKER_00: Their community, which is sroth.
- 32:42SPEAKER_00: Sroth.
- 32:44SPEAKER_00: And then members of their greater tribe, which I think in this term means like the higher up of their tribe, the greater of their tribe, which is Hasramus.
- 32:57SPEAKER_01: Has Rosramus.
- 32:59SPEAKER_00: Very strange.
- 33:00SPEAKER_00: But it's a snake language, so.
- 33:03SPEAKER_00: Oh S's.
- 33:04SPEAKER_00: Lots of S's.
- 33:05SPEAKER_00: Lots of S's.
- 33:06SPEAKER_00: Nothing but S.
- 33:08SPEAKER_00: It did give a little insight as to how a Yuan T like dies naturally.
- 33:14SPEAKER_00: And I'm not gonna lie, it's actually kind of sad.
- 33:17SPEAKER_00: Oh no.
- 33:18SPEAKER_00: Despite how evil these creatures are, it's kind of sad.
- 33:23SPEAKER_00: Oh okay.
- 33:25SPEAKER_00: So as a Yuan T ages and as they reach like a great age, is what it said.
- 33:31SPEAKER_04: Mm-hmm.
- 33:32SPEAKER_00: They tend to like grow lazy and will start sleeping or lying in torpor for longer and longer periods of time.
- 33:40SPEAKER_00: Oh, I'm already sad.
- 33:42SPEAKER_00: So it'll first start out where they'll just kind of sleep for a few days.
- 33:47SPEAKER_00: Then it kind of turns to where they start sleeping for weeks at a time.
- 33:52SPEAKER_00: And then seasons at a time.
- 33:54SPEAKER_00: And eventually it culminates into they will sleep for years upon years at a time.
- 34:00SPEAKER_02: Oh.
- 34:01SPEAKER_00: Until eventually they just don't wake up at all.
- 34:06SPEAKER_03: That's so sad.
- 34:07SPEAKER_03: That's really upsetting, actually.
- 34:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 34:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 34:11SPEAKER_00: And it's at this point where their bodies will then rot and mummify wherever they lie coiled up.
- 34:17SPEAKER_00: Okay, that's kind of sick though.
- 34:19SPEAKER_01: But that's like I I you know, and I guess like we as humans think about like death.
- 34:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, we think about death sometimes.
- 34:27SPEAKER_01: But I feel like a lot of people think that like dying in your sleep is the preferable way to die.
- 34:33SPEAKER_01: Which I mean, like, sure.
- 34:35SPEAKER_01: But the the lead up to that is so sad that it's just like oh God.
- 34:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, where it's like I don't know why that just like it did mention that there are some older ones that they'll realize they're hitting that cycle.
- 34:50SPEAKER_00: And so they will go out on basically suicide missions to try to find something great and grand on an adventure to kill them.
- 35:03SPEAKER_00: Because they would rather die adventuring than die sleeping.
- 35:08SPEAKER_00: I don't know why it actually kind of reminded me of uh Taylor what you were telling me before about that book series about how the people were like would fall into endless sleep.
- 35:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 35:23SPEAKER_03: Um it's my favorite series of books, what I read when I was a kid, and their their magic uh would overtake them and like tempt them into an endless sleep.
- 35:34SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah.
- 35:35SPEAKER_00: So that's kind of what they reminded me of, minus the fact that these actually like die and rot and mummy.
- 35:41SPEAKER_03: As opposed to just kind of I mean Because in the in the book series they they they never died after they fell into the sleep.
- 35:48SPEAKER_03: They could still technically be saved, but it was incredibly difficult.
- 35:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 35:52SPEAKER_03: So um, because their body was just frozen, it would like they would basically take them into like this living mausoleum.
- 35:59SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 36:00SPEAKER_03: Where everyone there was still alive, but but for the I mean at that point you're basically dead.
- 36:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 36:06SPEAKER_01: For most people.
- 36:08SPEAKER_00: Because they just never wake up.
- 36:09SPEAKER_01: You don't have you know protagonists relevant to the plot powers, you're basically dead.
- 36:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 36:16SPEAKER_01: Man, that fucking sucks.
- 36:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 36:19SPEAKER_01: Like I know I'm supposed to not feel bad because these guys are like evil or whatever.
- 36:23SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 36:23SPEAKER_01: That's fucking sad.
- 36:24SPEAKER_01: It is really sad.
- 36:26SPEAKER_01: I'd be evil too if I knew that was gonna happen to me one day.
- 36:30SPEAKER_01: Shit, I might be too.
- 36:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, probably same.
- 36:34SPEAKER_00: So the Yuan T of Ferun are divided into seven tribes, or in this case, they are called houses.
- 36:42SPEAKER_00: And one intertribal, not so secret society.
- 36:49SPEAKER_00: Oh god.
- 36:49SPEAKER_03: Oh boy.
- 36:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 36:51SPEAKER_03: I love not so secret societies.
- 36:54SPEAKER_03: They're my favorite.
- 36:55SPEAKER_03: They're not very secret.
- 36:56SPEAKER_00: They are not very secret, but we'll cover these after the break.
- 37:00SPEAKER_01: Oh no, they're a secret for now.
- 37:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 37:03SPEAKER_01: Damn it.

- 37:16SPEAKER_03: I know, but I wanted to.
- 37:18SPEAKER_03: Two.
- 37:19SPEAKER_00: She wanted to too.
- 37:20SPEAKER_03: Honestly, I named it I I made it the title of this uh the the file name.

- 39:28SPEAKER_03: I do that.

- 40:37SPEAKER_03: And share them with your family you don't want to talk to.
- 40:40SPEAKER_01: You know, you're casting some interesting aspersions on our listener base and how they feel about their family, but I don't think there's always one.
- 40:48SPEAKER_01: I don't think you're wrong, is the worst part.
- 40:50SPEAKER_03: There is always somebody that you would just rather not talk to.
- 40:55SPEAKER_01: But put your AirPods in and listen to Dungeon Pedia.
- 40:58SPEAKER_01: Yay.
- 40:59SPEAKER_03: And you know who I would always rather talk about?
- 41:02SPEAKER_01: Who?
- 41:03SPEAKER_03: Alexander Nakarata, who we are always thankful for with the use of our theme song, Blacksmith.
- 41:08SPEAKER_03: Thank you, Alexander.
- 41:10SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 41:11SPEAKER_01: And uh thank you for your time and listening to our to our advertisements.
- 41:15SPEAKER_01: Uh and I think with that, we'll go back to the Sneeple.
- 41:20SPEAKER_01: To the Sneeple.
- 41:20SPEAKER_00: To the Sneeple.
- 41:22SPEAKER_01: Snake House, Snake House, Snake House.
- 41:26SPEAKER_00: Okay then.
- 41:27SPEAKER_00: So we didn't plan that.
- 41:29SPEAKER_00: The uh beautiful is called House Esselamus.
- 41:35SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 41:36SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 41:37SPEAKER_00: And there's not a I didn't like put down a lot of information about each house except for one, just because its backstory of creation was incredible.
- 41:46SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 41:47SPEAKER_03: I mean that's fair.
- 41:48SPEAKER_03: I understand when you have way too much stuff to go through.
- 41:51SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was just too much, but that one.
- 41:53SPEAKER_00: But that'll be here in a minute.
- 41:55SPEAKER_00: So House Escelamos.
- 41:57SPEAKER_00: Uh the members of this house are known for their jungle stealth and battle prowess.
- 42:02SPEAKER_00: Ooh.
- 42:02SPEAKER_00: They basically, you know, live and hunt in the jungles, and often they have the ability to wield and hurl weapons with their tails.
- 42:12SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 42:14SPEAKER_00: Because they are so good at like hunting, and they're so limber and everything that they can just use their tails.
- 42:23SPEAKER_00: And a lot of them apparently also carry extra weapons on them for the purpose of hurling them.
- 42:29SPEAKER_00: Nice.
- 42:31SPEAKER_00: So that was all I really got for the house of Selamos.
- 42:35SPEAKER_00: Just because that was about the most interesting bit.
- 42:37SPEAKER_00: Jungle snake.
- 42:38SPEAKER_00: So House Extaminos.
- 42:40SPEAKER_03: Extaminos.
- 42:42SPEAKER_03: Okay, these are all unlike Harry Potter houses.
- 42:44SPEAKER_03: I'm not or Harry Potter spells, I'm not gonna lie.
- 42:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 42:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it it does.
- 42:49SPEAKER_00: So this one is the more interesting one that I thought was just kind of cool.
- 42:55SPEAKER_00: It is an offshoot of House Seysahin.
- 42:59SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 43:00SPEAKER_00: That one I will talk about here in a little bit.
- 43:03SPEAKER_00: But the tribe split when two strong claimants of leadership for House uh Saysahin could not agree on who would prevail.
- 43:15SPEAKER_04: Mm-hmm.
- 43:16SPEAKER_00: So instead of the normal fight to the death that would normally happen, for whatever reason, these two decided that they would draw apart and allow others of the house to rally around whichever leader they wished.
- 43:34SPEAKER_00: The one who got the most support took over House uh Sessahin, and the other one took their followers, moved somewhere else, and created a new tribe.
- 43:45SPEAKER_03: Nice.
- 43:46SPEAKER_03: You know, that feels very like Jigasaw and Choctaw.
- 43:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, I mean I was just gonna say democratic in general, but oh.
- 43:53SPEAKER_00: You know, that feels like a like a nice And this is like the only instance of any sort of camaraderie.
- 44:00SPEAKER_00: Camaradery of leadership that you will find within the UNT.
- 44:05SPEAKER_01: Just after all those years of like fight, like brutally like murdering your enemies.
- 44:09SPEAKER_01: Murdering your enemies to claim leadership, they were like, hey, what if we just like did this instead?
- 44:14SPEAKER_01: We were just like, sure.
- 44:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, sure.
- 44:16SPEAKER_01: This sounds nice.
- 44:16SPEAKER_01: Let's give it a try.
- 44:18SPEAKER_00: It didn't specify whether or not these two claimants were like related blood-wise or not.
- 44:26SPEAKER_00: But if they weren't, then that's also incredible that they were like, well, let's just not kill each other.
- 44:31SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 44:31SPEAKER_00: Let's just go this route.
- 44:33SPEAKER_00: So they split up and everything, but attacks on both of the tribes wound up weakening them over time.
- 44:41SPEAKER_00: Oh man.
- 44:42SPEAKER_00: And it kind of like forced the remaining survivors to reform the one house of uh Sisaheen.
- 44:51SPEAKER_01: That's unfortunate.
- 44:52SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 44:53SPEAKER_01: That's kind of that is kind of fun though.
- 44:55SPEAKER_00: Shortly after they reformed it, there were members of a nearby human noble house of Ex Dominos of Londeth.
- 45:05SPEAKER_00: Gazentai?
- 45:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it kind of feels that way, yeah.
- 45:11SPEAKER_00: These nobles stumbled upon rituals of Vare, which is another one of the gods that the Yuan T like worshipped and began summoning.
- 45:22SPEAKER_00: It said summoning in quotation marks.
- 45:27SPEAKER_00: They were not Yuan T.
- 45:29SPEAKER_00: They were, but I don't know exactly what it meant by summoned.
- 45:33SPEAKER_00: I don't I don't know exactly.
- 45:36SPEAKER_01: Okay, because my thought was maybe they weren't Yuan T, maybe they were just demons who look like Yuan T and they were like, ha, psych.
- 45:42SPEAKER_00: No, they were Yuan T because inevitably so much breeding happened between the two races.
- 45:50SPEAKER_00: Oh boy.
- 45:51SPEAKER_00: That Yuan T blood now just dominates the combined clan's bloodline.
- 45:57SPEAKER_03: Why do Yuan T like to fuck so much?
- 46:00SPEAKER_00: Why do people like to fuck Yuan T so much?
- 46:03SPEAKER_01: See, you could you could peruse the internet for more information on that, Travis.
- 46:07SPEAKER_01: I definitely do not want to.
- 46:09SPEAKER_01: I mean, I'm just saying you can.
- 46:10SPEAKER_01: It's out there.
- 46:11SPEAKER_00: It's out there.
- 46:11SPEAKER_00: The information is out there.
- 46:13SPEAKER_00: And the uh combined races now and the combined houses just they stuck with the House of Extaminus.
- 46:25SPEAKER_00: They pretty much got rid of House Estominos of Londeth and just House of Extaminus that's now Yeah, just this interbrand race.
- 46:36SPEAKER_00: Pretty much.
- 46:39SPEAKER_03: Oh man.
- 46:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it was interesting.
- 46:43SPEAKER_03: I just don't understand why the UNT, who, by the way, say that they hate race uh other races so much, like to fuck other races so much.
- 46:53SPEAKER_01: Um snakes phallic.
- 46:56SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 46:57SPEAKER_01: Snakes um phallic.
- 46:58SPEAKER_01: Snake's phallic shape.
- 47:00SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 47:01SPEAKER_00: Why not?
- 47:02SPEAKER_00: Hey, I mean so then we move on to house stuffy.
- 47:10SPEAKER_01: Stuffy.
- 47:11SPEAKER_01: Stuffy.
- 47:12SPEAKER_00: Let me guess they're real uptight, real stuffy, if you will.
- 47:16SPEAKER_00: Jesus.
- 47:17SPEAKER_00: I mean, they are a part of a ruling nobility.
- 47:21SPEAKER_03: Hey.
- 47:23SPEAKER_03: So I mean, the UN got it in one.
- 47:26SPEAKER_03: I did it.
- 47:28SPEAKER_00: So the members of this house were actually plucked from the northwestern shores of the LaPall Sea and magically transported to the ruins of Oh Jesus, okay.
- 47:42SPEAKER_00: T'ought tis son.
- 47:47SPEAKER_00: I'm assuming that's how it's pronounced.
- 47:50SPEAKER_02: It's thought.
- 47:55SPEAKER_03: My son is a thought.
- 47:58SPEAKER_00: Tis.
- 48:00SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 48:02SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 48:03SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 48:03SPEAKER_00: Um, this happened in negative 320 DR.
- 48:09SPEAKER_01: Should happen a hundred more years prior.
- 48:11SPEAKER_01: Aw.
- 48:12unknown: Damn.
- 48:14SPEAKER_00: And since then, they have been a part of the ruling nobility of Najara, which is the Kingdom of Snakes.
- 48:22unknown: Okay.
- 48:23SPEAKER_01: Kingdom.
- 48:24SPEAKER_00: Part of the Kingdom of Snakes, I guess, technically.
- 48:27SPEAKER_01: Wait, what was the what was the name of the house again?
- 48:29SPEAKER_00: Uh is it uh Stoffy.
- 48:34SPEAKER_01: No, oh, um yeah, no, the ruins.
- 48:37SPEAKER_01: The ruins was that has the word thought in it.
- 48:42SPEAKER_01: Snake thought.
- 48:44SPEAKER_01: Thought that's how you say thought snake thought.
- 48:46SPEAKER_01: Anyway.
- 48:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, then they run the kingdom of snakes, basically.
- 48:52SPEAKER_01: The kingdom is overrun by thoughts.
- 48:54SPEAKER_00: Snake thoughts.
- 48:56SPEAKER_00: I mean, they are pretty much snake thoughts.
- 49:00SPEAKER_01: I know snakes are snake thoughts, apparently.
- 49:02SPEAKER_01: They just that's just like a weird thing.
- 49:04SPEAKER_01: It has no tie-in to any any mythological or anything to do physiologically with ecologically with real snakes.
- 49:13SPEAKER_01: It's someone's just someone was horny and just decided that you want to like to fuck a lot.
- 49:19SPEAKER_01: Why not?
- 49:21SPEAKER_00: So then we have the House of Canestus.
- 49:25SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 49:26SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 49:26SPEAKER_00: Um the members of this house dwell in tunnel holds.
- 49:30SPEAKER_00: Ooh, tunnel snakes in the black jungles.
- 49:34SPEAKER_04: Mmm.
- 49:35SPEAKER_00: And are sometimes described as backward frail and half-witted wild ones by other Yuan T.
- 49:44SPEAKER_01: Oh no, they're dumb tunnelsnakes.
- 49:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so they're not the most intelligent of the houses.
- 49:50SPEAKER_01: Oh no.
- 49:53SPEAKER_01: There's always one, right?
- 49:55SPEAKER_00: There's always one.
- 49:56SPEAKER_01: There's always gotta be one really stupid cousin.
- 50:01SPEAKER_01: There's always one who's, you know, shilling you.
- 50:05SPEAKER_01: Never mind.
- 50:05SPEAKER_00: Alright then.
- 50:06SPEAKER_00: We'll be polite.
- 50:08SPEAKER_00: So we have the house Sarangar next.
- 50:12SPEAKER_00: Sarangar.
- 50:13SPEAKER_00: Sovereign.
- 50:14SPEAKER_00: Um presently they are kind of spread out a little bit of everywhere, but they have the strongest presence in Choltengar.
- 50:24SPEAKER_00: But the most notable thing that I thought was interesting was they are the secret rulers of an independent city-state called Narubel.
- 50:33SPEAKER_01: Okay, like secret or like secret?
- 50:37SPEAKER_01: Like, is this a not so secret type of thing?
- 50:39SPEAKER_00: This is they are the secret rulers of, like, no one knows that they're the ones pulling the streets.
- 50:44SPEAKER_01: So they're the lizard.
- 50:46SPEAKER_01: They're the lizard people behind the city, if you will.
- 50:49SPEAKER_01: The yeah.
- 50:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 50:51SPEAKER_01: The the more or less.
- 50:52SPEAKER_01: Okay, gotcha.
- 50:53SPEAKER_00: Um, then we have the house Sesahin, which I mentioned earlier.
- 51:00SPEAKER_00: Um, it is currently the largest and most powerful of the houses in the black jungles, and it was formed after House Staffi vanished in negative 320 DR.
- 51:15SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, because they went to the Thought Palace.
- 51:18SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 51:19SPEAKER_01: So they kind of took over where they had previously.
- 51:22SPEAKER_00: They took over the Fallen Tribe's land and control of the Synthesari and the Pit of Vipers.
- 51:32SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 51:33SPEAKER_00: So pretty much when they noticed that this other house disappeared, they were like, we're gonna take all of that now.
- 51:39SPEAKER_03: That's ours.
- 51:40SPEAKER_03: Thanks, buddy.
- 51:41SPEAKER_00: And they just kind of like took it and continued to kind of spread their influence.
- 51:45SPEAKER_00: I mean, why not?
- 51:47SPEAKER_03: I mean, fair.
- 51:48SPEAKER_00: They're literally all gone.
- 51:49SPEAKER_00: Like, sure, sure.
- 51:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I mean, also the pit of vipers.
- 51:53SPEAKER_03: I mean why not?
- 51:55SPEAKER_03: You're just passing out perfectly good vipers.
- 51:58SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 51:59SPEAKER_00: Perfectly good vipers.
- 52:00SPEAKER_01: Imagine, like, like I feel like that's weird though.
- 52:04SPEAKER_01: Because like, why would like imagine being a human and naming something like the pit of people?
- 52:11SPEAKER_01: Well, I guess, yeah, I guess vipers is a little more like monkey, uh, like monkeys would be to us.
- 52:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 52:17SPEAKER_01: So I guess that's well, I guess we have like barrel of monkeys and stuff.
- 52:21SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 52:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 52:22SPEAKER_01: See, it felt weird to me until I thought about it more.
- 52:24SPEAKER_01: More chimpanzee exhibit.
- 52:26SPEAKER_00: And oh god, suddenly it makes way too much sense.
- 52:30SPEAKER_00: Now I feel weird.
- 52:32SPEAKER_00: So uh for the last of the houses, we have House Cerades.
- 52:37SPEAKER_03: Cerades.
- 52:38SPEAKER_01: Wait.
- 52:39SPEAKER_00: Go on.
- 52:41SPEAKER_00: Um, they currently dominate the waterways of Thendel and the subterranean passage known as Lebrand's Folly.
- 52:49SPEAKER_00: Uh-huh.
- 52:50SPEAKER_00: And they employ Kuatoa.
- 52:53SPEAKER_00: Oh no! Yes.
- 52:55SPEAKER_00: As farmers of the sea to harvest fish, pearls, and certain seaweeds that are valuable to human alchemists.
- 53:03SPEAKER_01: By farmers of the sea, you mean slaves.
- 53:06SPEAKER_03: It it says it said employ.
- 53:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they employ them.
- 53:09SPEAKER_01: Oh, I thought I I took employ in this case as more of like a sarcastic Travis.
- 53:14SPEAKER_01: Well, no, not like a no, like a like a use thing.
- 53:17SPEAKER_01: Uh like I employ caffeine to turn me into a regular human being, as opposed to I employ someone to deliver me taco or I employ someone to deliver me Taco Bell.
- 53:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah, no, they actually do employ them because they also employ several other races to basically act as I can't remember the word now, but basically they use other races to do trade between everyone else.
- 53:46SPEAKER_00: Because they're crackers like stuck where they are.
- 53:50SPEAKER_00: Where they are, and they're also UNT that no one wants anything to do with, really.
- 53:54SPEAKER_03: So they know that they need to have these like go-betweens, these middlemen.
- 53:58SPEAKER_03: These uh relationships, so to speak, with other races, regardless of how much better they may feel.
- 54:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 54:04SPEAKER_01: Also, the reason I reacted the way I did is I can't see the spelling, obviously, but Cyrodes is the name of Sardior's fallen um like Exarch.
- 54:15SPEAKER_01: And I was like the Obsidian dragon, and I was like, wait, is there correlation?
- 54:19SPEAKER_01: Ah, but no, there's not.
- 54:21SPEAKER_00: Not that I'm aware of, because it's S-S-E-R-A-D-E-S-S.
- 54:26SPEAKER_01: There's one extra S in the front of that.
- 54:28SPEAKER_01: Otherwise, that is precisely how you spell Cyracus' name.
- 54:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 54:31SPEAKER_01: I wonder if there is any connection.
- 54:34SPEAKER_03: There might be.
- 54:40SPEAKER_00: So then we have their not-so-secret society called The Coiled Cabal.
- 54:47SPEAKER_00: Ooh, I like that name.
- 54:48SPEAKER_00: So it is a secret society of arcane spellcasters that is dominated by the uh House Stuffen.
- 54:58SPEAKER_00: Stuffin.
- 54:59SPEAKER_04: Mm-hmm.
- 55:00SPEAKER_00: But it draws its members from all of its houses.
- 55:03SPEAKER_00: Got it.
- 55:04SPEAKER_00: But it's not considered a tribe in its own right, but it is treated like one when it comes to like inter-tribal politics.
- 55:13SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 55:14SPEAKER_00: So I don't know.
- 55:16SPEAKER_00: They have some extra pool, but they're not their own tribe.
- 55:21SPEAKER_00: Their politics are weird.
- 55:24SPEAKER_01: Politics are weird.
- 55:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I mean, snake politics are weird, but uh so are human politics.
- 55:30SPEAKER_00: But one of the biggest things is being a part of this society requires loyalty to the society over loyalty to any other like tribal allegiances.
- 55:41SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 55:42SPEAKER_00: So if you're aligned with another tribe, like your tribe and another tribe are aligned, and then this society until attack the tribe you're aligned with, you have to ignore your allegiance to the tribe and follow the society.
- 56:02SPEAKER_00: Ooh.
- 56:03SPEAKER_01: Big oof.
- 56:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 56:05SPEAKER_00: And now we get to the fun, fun, fun part of what Fourth Edition decided to do to the Yuan T.
- 56:14SPEAKER_01: Ooh, let me take a guess.
- 56:15SPEAKER_01: They don't exist.
- 56:16SPEAKER_00: They do exist.
- 56:18SPEAKER_00: But we have like a great divergence in lore.
- 56:23SPEAKER_00: Anything that even remotely made sense prior to all this.
- 56:26SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 56:26SPEAKER_01: Which I mean, to be to Fourth Edition's credit, I think, this time, there's there's been a lot so far.
- 56:32SPEAKER_01: It's been wild.
- 56:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, and this isn't me being critical.
- 56:35SPEAKER_01: I guess it is.
- 56:36SPEAKER_01: I'm not trying to be mean, but there's been a lot about the Yuan T up to this point that's kind of not made the most sense to me, or not really gelled, I guess, with me.
- 56:44SPEAKER_00: So I mean, there is a lot of stuff that doesn't make sense, so.
- 56:47SPEAKER_01: I mean, there's a lot of stuff in Dungeons and Dragons that doesn't make sense.
- 56:50SPEAKER_01: So True.
- 56:52SPEAKER_00: So in typical fourth edition fashion, um, their monster manual has them split into the following sub races.
- 57:00SPEAKER_00: Alrighty.
- 57:00SPEAKER_00: You have the Malison Sharpie, the Mallison Encanter, Malison Disciple of Zaheer, the Abomination, and the Anathema.
- 57:11SPEAKER_01: Huh.
- 57:12SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 57:13SPEAKER_01: Well, there's at least the through line of the um Anathema being there.
- 57:18SPEAKER_01: Yes, and the Abomination.
- 57:20SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 57:20SPEAKER_00: Because Abominations were a thing before.
- 57:22SPEAKER_01: That's right.
- 57:22SPEAKER_01: Those were the top-tier most snaky people from like snake.
- 57:28SPEAKER_01: 10 out of 10, best snake, most snake.
- 57:31SPEAKER_01: A solid snake, if you will.
- 57:32SPEAKER_00: The oh my god.
- 57:36SPEAKER_00: Boo.
- 57:38SPEAKER_03: So anyway.
- 57:39SPEAKER_03: I think it was good.
- 57:40SPEAKER_00: I I liked it.
- 57:42SPEAKER_00: So the Malison Subway bleh.
- 57:45SPEAKER_03: The Malice and Subway.
- 57:47SPEAKER_00: The Malice and Subway.
- 57:49SPEAKER_00: The Malison subrace represents the bulk of the Yuan T.
- 57:54SPEAKER_00: I think it said roughly like 80% of all of the Yuan T.
- 57:57SPEAKER_00: Oh wow.
- 57:58SPEAKER_00: And they are the ones that are highly intelligent and manipulative.
- 58:02SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 58:03SPEAKER_00: Uh they have serpentine heads.
- 58:06SPEAKER_00: Nice.
- 58:07SPEAKER_00: Roughly half of them are born with legs, the other half born with the snake-like tailword torso.
- 58:14SPEAKER_00: I mean, obviously each one has different abilities.
- 58:18SPEAKER_00: The Sharpie's biggest ability, from what I could tell, was they can shoot with a longbow and then they can make a secondary attack against the same target to cause an ongoing five poison damage and to also daze the target.
- 58:34SPEAKER_00: Nice.
- 58:34SPEAKER_00: Cool.
- 58:35SPEAKER_00: Um a save obviously would end both of the effects.
- 58:38SPEAKER_04: Mm-hmm.
- 58:39SPEAKER_00: But uh the Encanter possesses a just myriad of other abilities.
- 58:45SPEAKER_00: Of course.
- 58:45SPEAKER_00: Um, one of the ones that kind of jumped out the most was one called Poisoned Domination, which is a charm ability that has a like five-foot range that can affect a creature that is taking ongoing poison damage.
- 59:02SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 59:03SPEAKER_00: It is a plus 20 versus a will save.
- 59:06SPEAKER_00: Oh Jesus.
- 59:08SPEAKER_00: So I don't know exactly how the numbers stack up in fourth edition, but that seems like a lot.
- 59:14SPEAKER_00: Uh the target is dominated until the end of the encounter's next turn, and then it has an after-effect after that ends that causes the creature to become dazed.
- 59:27SPEAKER_03: Fuck you.
- 59:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that is a real fuck you.
- 59:31SPEAKER_00: It's kind of insane, and pretty much every attack that these maliceins have cause ongoing poison damage.
- 59:40SPEAKER_03: Of course, why not?
- 59:42SPEAKER_03: I mean, it kind of makes sense.
- 59:43SPEAKER_03: I mean it does.
- 59:44SPEAKER_03: It makes sense.
- 59:44SPEAKER_03: But that doesn't mean that I have to like it.
- 59:47SPEAKER_00: Big man.
- 59:48SPEAKER_00: True.
- 59:48SPEAKER_00: Um, they do have a psychic power called Mindwarp that basically uh deals 2d6 plus 7 psychic damage, and daze is the target.
- 1:00:00SPEAKER_00: They really like this whole dazed thing.
- 1:00:03SPEAKER_01: Well, and as as I I think I have heard that Daze was a very powerful condition in fourth edition.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_01: If I if I have I mean, who even cares?
- 1:00:16SPEAKER_01: But, you know, that that's that's what I've heard.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_00: So one of the other like ridiculous things is they have uh something called Slither Away.
- 1:00:27unknown: Oh my god.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_00: Which, when you bloodied them, they gain plus two speed and a plus five bonus to all of their defenses.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_00: Okay, I've decided fourth edition's valid now.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_03: In this one instance, I might agree with you.
- 1:00:42SPEAKER_00: That one was pretty funny, I ain't gonna lie.
- 1:00:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:00:45SPEAKER_00: You have the disciple uh Zaheer, which is kind of just like a support Yuan T.
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_00: Um, the biggest thing is they have Zaheer's favor, which is healing and poison.
- 1:01:01SPEAKER_00: Travis doesn't know what Taylor and I are laughing about.
- 1:01:03SPEAKER_00: No, I have no clue.
- 1:01:05SPEAKER_01: Y'all know.
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_01: Probably.
- 1:01:07SPEAKER_01: Uh don't don't tweet at us, but don't don't spoil it, but yeah.
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_00: So it's an aura of 10 feet.
- 1:01:13SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_01: Oh, fucking auras.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_01: Sorry.
- 1:01:16SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:01:17SPEAKER_01: It's been a minute since we've talked shit about fourth edition.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_01: No, yeah.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_01: It's not the wazoo.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_01: Fu Auras out the auras.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 1:01:25SPEAKER_00: Allies that start their turn within the aura regain five HP.
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_00: Good point.
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_00: While enemies take five poison damage.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_00: Cool.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_00: They can also use soothing words to dominate a creature, which also has the after effect of making them become dazed.
- 1:01:43SPEAKER_03: What?
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_03: What?
- 1:01:44SPEAKER_03: I'm so surprised.
- 1:01:46SPEAKER_03: I I never would have guessed.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_01: Yep.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_01: Man, this res- I'm sorry guys, this resentment for fourth edition has kind of been building up because we haven't let it out in a while.
- 1:01:55SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:01:55SPEAKER_01: Because even in our last few episodes, we haven't shit talked fourth edition because it didn't really come up.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:02:01SPEAKER_00: Fucking Auras man.
- 1:02:03SPEAKER_00: And like the mouseins are all medium creatures.
- 1:02:07SPEAKER_04: Mm-hmm.
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_00: Then you have the Abomination, which is a large creature.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_00: Nice.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_00: Big boys.
- 1:02:12SPEAKER_00: That wields a bastard sword.
- 1:02:14SPEAKER_00: Cool.
- 1:02:15SPEAKER_00: Which, upon hitting a creature with it, can then cause the creature to become marked until the end of the abomination's next turn and cause them to take five ongoing.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_00: Poison damage.
- 1:02:26SPEAKER_01: Oh obviously hey, hey, hey.
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_01: They become dazed.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_03: Uh no.
- 1:02:33SPEAKER_00: Oh shit.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_00: However, the Abomination is the only creature of the Won T and 4th edition with the ability to grab.
- 1:02:41SPEAKER_00: What?
- 1:02:42SPEAKER_00: What to like grapple and grab a creature.
- 1:02:45SPEAKER_00: Do they not all have arms?
- 1:02:48SPEAKER_00: I mean, they do, but it specifically mentions.
- 1:02:51SPEAKER_01: Do they not literally all have either arms or a fucking snake tail?
- 1:02:55SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it specifically mentions they have grasping coils.
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_03: So do every other snake.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_03: Everything.
- 1:03:03SPEAKER_00: Yeah, which, you know, pulls the target one square and grabs them until they escape.
- 1:03:09SPEAKER_01: I mean, okay.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_01: Whatever.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_01: Whatever.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:03:13SPEAKER_01: What do we expect at this point?
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:03:15SPEAKER_01: What are we even fucking doing with the deep?
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_01: Because I mean, it would be it would be different.
- 1:03:19SPEAKER_01: Oh, okay.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_01: Whatever.
- 1:03:21SPEAKER_01: Okay, whatever.
- 1:03:21SPEAKER_01: Deep breaths.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_00: Then we have the Anathema.
- 1:03:27SPEAKER_00: Which, these are the big boys.
- 1:03:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:03:30SPEAKER_00: These are the big ones.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_00: They are huge creatures.
- 1:03:33SPEAKER_04: Ooh.
- 1:03:34SPEAKER_00: And the reason that Yuan T do not like them.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_00: I've been waiting for that.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_00: Is because uh they once ruled the Yuan T as kings.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_00: Okay, yeah.
- 1:03:44SPEAKER_00: And then suddenly they were stricken with madness and started to murder and hunt down all of their followers.
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_00: Okay, yeah, fair.
- 1:03:52SPEAKER_00: Which then prompted the other Yuan T to imprison them.
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_00: How?
- 1:03:57SPEAKER_00: No, it's fair.
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_00: How?
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_00: They're so big.
- 1:03:59SPEAKER_00: I'm not sure how they wound up like imprisoning them.
- 1:04:04SPEAKER_00: I mean, it might just be how they managed to do it.
- 1:04:06SPEAKER_03: It might be a it might be a numbers thing.
- 1:04:08SPEAKER_03: I was going to say, I mean like Zeus and the Titans sort of thing.
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_01: It it probably was like a numbers thing, because I would imagine, especially since they ruled over them like, quote, as kings, I would imagine that there's probably a limited number.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like the the Malecents and Abominations probably had a numbers advantage.
- 1:04:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, probably.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_00: They it does mention that they um imprison them in subterranean prisons.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_01: Oh, so it could easily just be you trick them down into a tunnel and then block the door.
- 1:04:39SPEAKER_00: And then you just trap them.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:04:41SPEAKER_00: It could be.
- 1:04:42SPEAKER_00: They can do just so much insane shit.
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_01: I mean, they kind of could before.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_00: I mean, they have their typical like attack, which for them is just a slam attack.
- 1:04:55SPEAKER_00: But it has on and slam.
- 1:04:58SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
- 1:04:59SPEAKER_00: It has a reach of three.
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_01: So sure.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_01: 15 feet, I think that would be.
- 1:05:08SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_00: It deals a decent amount of damage.
- 1:05:12SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's 2d6 plus 7, not a lot.
- 1:05:15SPEAKER_00: But not that's a lot for that's quite a bit for a slam, though.
- 1:05:19SPEAKER_00: But it causes ongoing poison damage.
- 1:05:24SPEAKER_00: Poison damage.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_00: Damn it.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_00: Hey, I'll ten poison damage.
- 1:05:27SPEAKER_00: What do I, Travis?
- 1:05:28SPEAKER_00: What do I win?
- 1:05:29SPEAKER_00: Um more information.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_00: Yay! My favorite.
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_00: Uh they have the ability to make a double attack, which is two slams, but each of them are a diff against a different target.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_00: The dam poison damage and everything still counts.
- 1:05:46SPEAKER_00: Um they have the ability to bite.
- 1:05:49SPEAKER_00: And with their mouth?
- 1:05:50unknown: Yes.
- 1:05:51SPEAKER_03: I mean okay.
- 1:05:53SPEAKER_03: Like I was going to fault you, but no, that's fair.
- 1:05:56SPEAKER_03: With their mouth.
- 1:05:57SPEAKER_01: I you know, I think well, rem I think in my head.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 1:06:07SPEAKER_01: So no.
- 1:06:08SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:06:09SPEAKER_00: So in this case, their form is their body, torso, and arms are basically just entangled snakes.
- 1:06:21SPEAKER_00: What?
- 1:06:22SPEAKER_00: That form the body and the arms.
- 1:06:26SPEAKER_00: And its head is a giant, like cobra head looking thing.
- 1:06:33SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 1:06:34SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it has uh four snakes like at the end of its snake arms.
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_00: Four snake heads at the end of its snake arms.
- 1:06:43SPEAKER_01: Okay, so me asking if it bites with its mouth is a valid question.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_00: It is a valid question.
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_00: And it is actually possible that it can also use its hands because it does have a reach of three with its bite attack.
- 1:06:54SPEAKER_01: Imagine if you just like dropped it into like a because my I would like to drop it off a cliff, actually.
- 1:07:00SPEAKER_01: Well, because my first thought was like, you know, you remember that show Fear Factor?
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_01: Where like and a lot of people are afraid of snakes because they don't understand that.
- 1:07:09SPEAKER_01: They don't get it.
- 1:07:10SPEAKER_01: I'm kidding.
- 1:07:10SPEAKER_01: It you can't control what you're afraid of.
- 1:07:12SPEAKER_01: But like they would like make people lie down in like a tub full of snakes.
- 1:07:17SPEAKER_01: My visual is that this creature is just that, but also drop that creature in a tub full of meat and just like all of its little heads just all of its little snake heads just go into town.
- 1:07:28SPEAKER_01: Gobble it all up.
- 1:07:29SPEAKER_01: Anyway.
- 1:07:30SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_00: Um the bite can also give them the ability to make a secondary attack against the target.
- 1:07:37SPEAKER_00: And the secondary attack causes them to take an ongoing 15 poison damage.
- 1:07:42SPEAKER_00: Ooh, more poison and a negative four penalty to attack rolls.
- 1:07:46SPEAKER_00: Okay, fair.
- 1:07:47SPEAKER_00: Whatever.
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_00: Um they have the ability to trample.
- 1:07:51SPEAKER_01: That's new.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_01: So imagine being trampled by just a sea of fucking snakes.
- 1:07:57SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the description of it kind of makes that a little bit like more humorous?
- 1:08:02SPEAKER_00: More humorous and slightly more terrifying.
- 1:08:05SPEAKER_00: Oh, great, love it.
- 1:08:06SPEAKER_00: So the one tea and Athema can move up to its speed and enter enemy spaces.
- 1:08:11SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 1:08:12SPEAKER_00: Um, the movement does still provoke opportunity attacks, but when it enters an enemy space, it makes a trample attack and does damage and then knocks the target prone.
- 1:08:24SPEAKER_00: So it can just like ram through in a line.
- 1:08:29SPEAKER_00: Jesus Christ.
- 1:08:30SPEAKER_01: Just snake stampede.
- 1:08:33SPEAKER_01: Snake stampede.
- 1:08:35SPEAKER_00: It's oh my god.
- 1:08:37SPEAKER_00: Its speed is eight.
- 1:08:39SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 1:08:40SPEAKER_00: So sure, 40 feet.
- 1:08:42SPEAKER_00: 40 feet.
- 1:08:43SPEAKER_01: Mm-hmm.
- 1:08:44SPEAKER_01: I believe.
- 1:08:44SPEAKER_01: It is sure.
- 1:08:46unknown: God.
- 1:08:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:08:48SPEAKER_01: Just this writhing mass of snakes.
- 1:08:51SPEAKER_01: Like, I know it has like the head and the arms that kind of draw it all together, but just like a like I love snakes, but a writhing mass of snakes just like stamping.
- 1:09:01SPEAKER_01: When honestly, like I would piss myself.
- 1:09:05SPEAKER_03: I can't think of very many people who wouldn't.
- 1:09:07SPEAKER_00: That's okay.
- 1:09:08SPEAKER_00: It has two other abilities that are just fantastic.
- 1:09:13SPEAKER_00: Wait, let me guess.
- 1:09:13SPEAKER_00: One of them causes days.
- 1:09:15SPEAKER_00: Um no.
- 1:09:17SPEAKER_01: Oh, damn it.
- 1:09:18SPEAKER_00: No, surprisingly.
- 1:09:19SPEAKER_00: Oh, okay.
- 1:09:20SPEAKER_00: So you have Horde of Snakes, which is a close burst attack that deals 2d4 plus 6 damage and an ongoing 10 poison damage.
- 1:09:32SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 1:09:33SPEAKER_00: Given.
- 1:09:34SPEAKER_00: But then you have Swarm of Snakes.
- 1:09:37unknown: Oh no.
- 1:09:39SPEAKER_00: Which the Yuan T Anathema collapses into hundreds of snakes.
- 1:09:44SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, it's like the spider and the broom and the spider babies.
- 1:09:48SPEAKER_00: Which shift up to eight squares away and then reform as the Anathema in an unoccupied space.
- 1:09:58SPEAKER_01: Snake step.
- 1:09:58SPEAKER_01: That's what that is.
- 1:09:59SPEAKER_01: That is snake step.
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_00: It just And it ignores difficult terrain while moving in this fashion, as if to just add a little bit of salt to that wound.
- 1:10:09SPEAKER_03: What the fuck?
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_01: That's just snake step.
- 1:10:11SPEAKER_01: Wait, but what does the snake step?
- 1:10:13SPEAKER_01: But what does the head do?
- 1:10:15SPEAKER_01: Is the head just a really big, thick cobra?
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_01: Kind of.
- 1:10:19SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
- 1:10:19SPEAKER_01: It's just a fat little cobra.
- 1:10:21SPEAKER_00: Like, it's either a cobra or a viper.
- 1:10:25SPEAKER_01: Well, you know what I mean though.
- 1:10:26SPEAKER_03: It's like thicker than I just want to ask this quick question.
- 1:10:31SPEAKER_03: Did I write this when I was 14?
- 1:10:35SPEAKER_03: And I don't mean that in a mean way.
- 1:10:37SPEAKER_03: I just mean my I I really liked snakes when I was.
- 1:10:40SPEAKER_01: Okay, but also like I this is so annoying whenever people ask this question, whenever there's anything that has a modicum of creativity like in it.
- 1:10:50SPEAKER_01: What were they what what what drugs were they were they on?
- 1:10:54SPEAKER_01: Like what were they That is a very good question.
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_01: Were they drinking snake venom when they Oh my god were they drinking snake venom when they made this thing?
- 1:11:03SPEAKER_00: Oh also.
- 1:11:04SPEAKER_00: Oh no.
- 1:11:05SPEAKER_00: So the swarm of snakes is an at-will movement.
- 1:11:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:11:12SPEAKER_00: And a horde of snakes is a standard action, but recharges when it uses swarm of snakes.
- 1:11:23SPEAKER_00: So if it wanted to, it could literally just hoard of snakes and then swarm of snakes to another position.
- 1:11:30SPEAKER_00: Next one behind you, and then horde of snakes, and then movement.
- 1:11:35SPEAKER_00: No.
- 1:11:36SPEAKER_00: Swarm of snakes.
- 1:11:37SPEAKER_00: No.
- 1:11:38SPEAKER_00: And just like continue like collapsing and reforming.
- 1:11:41SPEAKER_01: That's what we as speedrunners refer to as the snake lock.
- 1:11:44SPEAKER_01: Oh my god.
- 1:11:45SPEAKER_01: What the fuck?
- 1:11:46SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:11:47SPEAKER_01: Why is it so funny?
- 1:11:49SPEAKER_00: It it I mean.
- 1:11:51SPEAKER_01: Why is it so funny to me?
- 1:11:53SPEAKER_00: I guess it should be noted that these are level 21 elites.
- 1:11:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so these aren't your.
- 1:11:59SPEAKER_00: So, like, you really have to be deep in it to be fighting one, but have a DM who's really pissed off at you.
- 1:12:10SPEAKER_03: Or that.
- 1:12:12SPEAKER_00: So now we're gonna go to 5th edition for the final bits here.
- 1:12:16SPEAKER_01: I've decided fourth edition is valid again.
- 1:12:19SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:12:19SPEAKER_01: I say again, it was never valid, but fourth edition is valid.
- 1:12:23SPEAKER_00: So from the monster manual of 5th edition, uh, we have the fact that they were once humans who thrived in the earliest days of civilization and worshipped serpents as totem animals.
- 1:12:35SPEAKER_00: So a sort of similar situation to like first and second edition's uh worship of a strange deity.
- 1:12:43SPEAKER_00: But they actually like lauded, lauded, whatever, the serpent's like sinuous flexibility and its calculated poise and its deadly strike, so they really worship these fucking snakes.
- 1:12:58SPEAKER_01: They really, really and their cute little faces.
- 1:13:02SPEAKER_00: That's who.
- 1:13:03SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 1:13:04SPEAKER_00: Um their religion wound up growing so fanatical that the cults bound themselves to worships of the serpent gods and began imitating their ways, indulging in cannibalism and humanoid sacrifice.
- 1:13:19SPEAKER_00: I thought you meant they just got down on the floor and did the worm.
- 1:13:22SPEAKER_03: That would have been the preferable outcome.
- 1:13:24SPEAKER_00: But no cannibalism.
- 1:13:26SPEAKER_00: Um, through foul sorcery, somehow, the Yuan T Bread with Snakes, again, you know, that's um play us and the bullsh bullshit.
- 1:13:36SPEAKER_01: You know, I gotta say, I appreciate that fifth edition just straight up said it.
- 1:13:40SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:13:41SPEAKER_01: Like they did, like, because I was gonna make a joke about this, but earlier, you know, they would say, like, oh, an ancient serpent race, or, you know, this, that, and, or whatever, trying to be like kind of cheeky about it or kind of get around it to not say they fuck snakes.
- 1:13:56SPEAKER_01: But in fifth edition, they're just like, yo, they fuck snakes.
- 1:14:00SPEAKER_00: Straight up.
- 1:14:01SPEAKER_00: Through foul sorcery, they wound up being able to fuck snakes.
- 1:14:05SPEAKER_01: Great.
- 1:14:05SPEAKER_00: So they could take on their god's serpentine form.
- 1:14:09SPEAKER_00: You took on something.
- 1:14:11SPEAKER_00: Uh snake STDs.
- 1:14:16SPEAKER_01: Sexually transmitted snake.
- 1:14:19SPEAKER_00: STS.
- 1:14:20SPEAKER_00: Snake transmitted disease.
- 1:14:21SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's there we go.
- 1:14:24SPEAKER_00: Um I forgot how acronyms work.
- 1:14:26SPEAKER_00: Their life revolves around all of their temples and everything, but they don't actually like love the gods that they worship.
- 1:14:34SPEAKER_00: Mode.
- 1:14:35SPEAKER_00: They simply just see worship only as a means to attain power and believe that a Yuan T that attains enough power will be able to devour and replace one of the Yuan T gods.
- 1:14:47SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 1:14:48SPEAKER_01: Interesting.
- 1:14:49SPEAKER_01: It's I'm glad that nobody thinks of religion that way in the real world.
- 1:14:54SPEAKER_01: Well, maybe not the devouring part.
- 1:14:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I was about to say, I mean, like, I get you ha I had you in the first half, not gonna lie.
- 1:15:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:15:03SPEAKER_00: So again, we have it where abominations form the highest cast of the Yuwante society.
- 1:15:08SPEAKER_04: Mm-hmm.
- 1:15:09SPEAKER_00: Uh, they are the ones that most closely resemble the race as the serpentine gods intended it.
- 1:15:15SPEAKER_01: So mostly snake.
- 1:15:17SPEAKER_00: Mostly snake.
- 1:15:18SPEAKER_01: Um As the good lord intended.
- 1:15:20SPEAKER_00: The abominations can shape change using an action to polymorph into a large snake or back into its true form.
- 1:15:28SPEAKER_00: It does note that their statistics stay the same in both forms, and that their equipment, whether being worn or carried, is not transformed with them.
- 1:15:39SPEAKER_00: That would be weird.
- 1:15:40SPEAKER_00: They also do not change forms when they die.
- 1:15:43SPEAKER_00: So if you kill one in its giant snake form, it just stays there.
- 1:15:48SPEAKER_01: Do they just turn into a giant snake form to be like extra?
- 1:15:53SPEAKER_03: Probably.
- 1:15:54SPEAKER_03: Probably.
- 1:15:54SPEAKER_03: Like what form?
- 1:15:55SPEAKER_03: Maybe for like ritualistic purposes.
- 1:15:57SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, true.
- 1:16:00SPEAKER_00: It does note that there are like most of its abilities can only be used in the you want, such as like attacking with like the weapons and yeah, because the giant snake doesn't have hands.
- 1:16:11SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 1:16:13SPEAKER_00: But I assume it can use the giant snake form to bite things.
- 1:16:17SPEAKER_00: Bite or slither up someplace that maybe it can't get in its normal form.
- 1:16:22SPEAKER_01: Fair.
- 1:16:23SPEAKER_01: Well, and you like you you if if it's like it was in earlier editions, some of the abom like the physical variance in abominations is very high, right?
- 1:16:34SPEAKER_03: Uh yeah, and in the original.
- 1:16:37SPEAKER_01: If it's like that, the physical variation is very high, so maybe they would have a physiology that's not suited to doing certain things that a giant snake form would be better suited for.
- 1:16:47SPEAKER_01: That's fair.
- 1:16:48SPEAKER_00: So they did keep the mallison from like fourth edition, but it is strictly just a mallison.
- 1:16:55SPEAKER_00: There is no like there's no like mallison.
- 1:16:59SPEAKER_01: There's no different, you know, sub-categories that are given that have no impact on anything besides combat.
- 1:17:06SPEAKER_00: And malisins form the middle cast and are a hideous blend of human and serpentine figures.
- 1:17:14SPEAKER_03: I mean, define hideous.
- 1:17:16SPEAKER_03: It's a beauty's in the eye of the beholder.
- 1:17:19SPEAKER_03: I can't talk.
- 1:17:20SPEAKER_00: Yes.
- 1:17:21SPEAKER_00: Beholders probably think they're ugly.
- 1:17:22SPEAKER_00: Usually human body with snake head, human head and body with snakes for arms.
- 1:17:29SPEAKER_03: What's wrong with that?
- 1:17:30SPEAKER_03: Well, maybe it's just a hideous mishmash, so like the the scales are all mottled and falling off and they look sickly.
- 1:17:36SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 1:17:37SPEAKER_00: Could be.
- 1:17:38SPEAKER_00: Um, they can also shape change, just like the abominations, but they change into medium snakes because they're sizes.
- 1:17:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:17:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 1:17:47SPEAKER_01: They're second on the totem pole.
- 1:17:48SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:17:49SPEAKER_00: And uh then you have the purebloods, which is the lowest cast of the society for youantees.
- 1:17:57SPEAKER_00: They're like like people.
- 1:17:59SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and it's the same as like earlier editions.
- 1:18:02SPEAKER_00: They closely resemble humans with like the minor differences of like maybe snake eyes or they flick their tongue a lot.
- 1:18:08SPEAKER_00: Or they have like a patch of like a patch of scale somewhere.
- 1:18:11SPEAKER_03: They got a tiny tail.
- 1:18:15SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry.
- 1:18:16SPEAKER_01: They just have the tiniest little snake tail growing out of their coccyx.
- 1:18:19SPEAKER_00: Just and uh they cannot shape change.
- 1:18:24SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 1:18:25SPEAKER_00: Sadly for them.
- 1:18:26SPEAKER_00: And they offer the least amount of abilities and actions out of like the three types.
- 1:18:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:18:32SPEAKER_00: They pretty much have like the basic humanoid aspects and movement speed and stuff.
- 1:18:42SPEAKER_00: Pretty much.
- 1:18:43SPEAKER_01: Hello, yes, I am human.
- 1:18:45SPEAKER_01: I can attack and move.
- 1:18:47SPEAKER_01: I'm here attack and move.
- 1:18:49SPEAKER_01: I'm here to trade with you and not infiltrate your species at all.
- 1:18:54SPEAKER_01: Hello, yes, I'm human.
- 1:18:57SPEAKER_01: That was my imitation of a like a snake like flicking their tongue.
- 1:19:00SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry.
- 1:19:01SPEAKER_03: You know, that is actually a good point.
- 1:19:03SPEAKER_03: They would be the most useful of spies.
- 1:19:05SPEAKER_01: Well, because that was kind of the the whole sitch in earlier editions was that the purebloods were kind of the the Yuan T that would kind of go out and interact and do business with and infiltrate other races because they could they weren't they could pass they pass as like not Yuan T.
- 1:19:25SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:19:26SPEAKER_00: And I mean, like all of the Yuan T races have like innate spell casting with just kind of like minor spells.
- 1:19:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:19:36SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 1:19:37SPEAKER_00: Um, like the pureblood only knows animal friendship and can only use it for snakes.
- 1:19:42SPEAKER_03: Aww.
- 1:19:43SPEAKER_03: That's sad, but also kind of cute.
- 1:19:45SPEAKER_00: And can use poison spray and suggestion three times a day.
- 1:19:49SPEAKER_03: Aww.
- 1:19:49SPEAKER_00: Who wants snakes to want snakes to be my friends?
- 1:19:53SPEAKER_00: Um, there are various other like sub races of you want tea.
- 1:19:59SPEAKER_00: If you like look through all of the expansions.
- 1:20:02SPEAKER_00: All the expansions, and if you go to DD Beyond and just type in Yuan T, I think there is some like homebrewed stuff as well.
- 1:20:07SPEAKER_00: But it's probably pretty cool.
- 1:20:09SPEAKER_00: Obviously, I'm not gonna sit here and go through them all just because especially the homebrew stuff because it's unofficial.
- 1:20:15SPEAKER_01: This is a homebrew podcast now.
- 1:20:17SPEAKER_03: Woo!
- 1:20:18SPEAKER_00: Boom.
- 1:20:19SPEAKER_03: No rules, just right.
- 1:20:20SPEAKER_03: Monsters in multi-class is there for your homebrew needs.
- 1:20:23SPEAKER_01: No rules, just right.
- 1:20:24SPEAKER_01: Outback dungeonpedia.
- 1:20:25SPEAKER_00: Closer.
- 1:20:26SPEAKER_00: But uh, that is uh it.
- 1:20:28SPEAKER_00: We are finished with the U1T.
- 1:20:31unknown: Woo!
- 1:20:32SPEAKER_00: That's what we got.
- 1:20:33SPEAKER_00: That's where we got snakes.
- 1:20:34SPEAKER_03: You know what?
- 1:20:34SPEAKER_03: Actually, no, you can say shit about a multi-parter being done until you do how many celestials and infernals in a row.
- 1:20:43SPEAKER_01: That was your decision to do that.
- 1:20:46SPEAKER_03: Somebody asked me.
- 1:20:48SPEAKER_01: That was your decision to do that.
- 1:20:50SPEAKER_01: I'm doing all of our dragon stuff.
- 1:20:53SPEAKER_03: That's because I'm saving it for you because I know that you love dragons.
- 1:20:58SPEAKER_00: I'm not doing anything.
- 1:21:00SPEAKER_00: Travis is just vibing.
- 1:21:03SPEAKER_00: Travis is just vibing over there.
- 1:21:05SPEAKER_00: So, hey, you know, I win.
- 1:21:07SPEAKER_00: Actually, I do still have the various genies to go over.
- 1:21:10SPEAKER_03: That's true.
- 1:21:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah?
- 1:21:11SPEAKER_03: Hey, Lumin.
- 1:21:12SPEAKER_03: Wind cells part two.
- 1:21:14SPEAKER_03: What's an elf?
- 1:21:15SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 1:21:16SPEAKER_00: Well, that's all the information that we have for this week.
- 1:21:19SPEAKER_00: That was a that was a that was a weird one.
- 1:21:22SPEAKER_00: It was a weird one.
- 1:21:22SPEAKER_01: I gotta say, it was like I feel like there was just a lot of really random stuff in there.
- 1:21:29SPEAKER_01: And I learned that snakes really like to fuck.
- 1:21:31SPEAKER_01: Apparently.
- 1:21:32SPEAKER_01: Apparently.
- 1:21:32SPEAKER_01: We thought it was rabbits, no, it's snakes.
- 1:21:34SPEAKER_01: It's snakes.
- 1:21:35SPEAKER_01: But but I I'm used to not to say formulaic, but I'm used to like, you know, it it kind of, you know, it starts maybe kind of weird, they figure it out, it's pretty solid in like third and 3.5, and then we rip on fourth edition for a minute, and then you know, fifth edition is like, okay, it's back to normal.
- 1:21:55SPEAKER_01: Nah, this one stayed weird.
- 1:21:56SPEAKER_01: Then this one was just like a, you know, very quick up and down like roller coaster of like, I was like, okay, yeah, that's cool.
- 1:22:04SPEAKER_01: That's cool.
- 1:22:04SPEAKER_01: Wait, what?
- 1:22:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 1:22:07SPEAKER_00: It's uh man.
- 1:22:09SPEAKER_00: Thank you everyone so much for listening.
- 1:22:11SPEAKER_00: Uh, don't forget to follow us on all of our various social media platforms.
- 1:22:16SPEAKER_00: You know the drill.
- 1:22:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:22:17SPEAKER_03: But with that, um, we're gonna catch you next week here on Dungeon Pedia.
- 1:22:23SPEAKER_00: So, snake transmitted diseases, is that a thing though?
- 1:22:27SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I guess.
- 1:22:28SPEAKER_01: Or is it more of a snake transmitted infection?
- 1:22:31SPEAKER_01: It's probably a disease since it's like last forever.
- 1:22:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't know, connotations, they're hard.
