- 0:00The boy Oh my back, No, no, you could. We just
- 0:03had to do the first ever podcast restart. We've never had to do that.
- 0:08But it was technical difficulties. It was laggy, man, that was
- 0:13I felt like that Key and Peel sketch. You ever seen which one which
- 0:17one? It was like on a video call and they were both lagging.
- 0:20Oh yeah, yeah, I remember the old damn you bought it back?
- 0:24That's wild they but yeah, man, I was saying originally before we got
- 0:33destroyed. But Joe's not here this week, and it's man, it's super
- 0:38frustrating because the podcast since we did the changes, has been doing super great,
- 0:44like on socials and stuff, and it's been reaching a lot more people.
- 0:47And we've been just real excited with the you know, with the reaction
- 0:51to the changes, and people definitely have been gravitating to the new stuff we're
- 0:55doing. Nah facts facts, I mean like for the most part, man,
- 0:59I know, you've been kind of on top of a lot of the
- 1:02commentary and things of that nature on YouTube and just all over you know,
- 1:07the engagement kind of what kind of stuff have you been seeing just recently.
- 1:11Definitely one of the things that was a big sticking point where people was the
- 1:15NAS thing, the NAS and Z thing that was the one that actually got
- 1:23the most interactions and kind of speaking to Joe's point. One of the first
- 1:27comments was somebody saying NAS was the beast, never like jay Z, which
- 1:33is kind of like the thing that I wanted to hear Joe's take on that,
- 1:36and we'll ask him that next time, Like, because he's one of
- 1:38those that's real big on yo, you don't have to connect him, you
- 1:41know what I'm saying, Like they're two artists, like one being dope shouldn't
- 1:45have anything to do with the other one, you know, yeah, I
- 1:48mean it's kind of like, I don't know, I feel like with any
- 1:52level of greatness and anything, they're always gonna be comparisons, you know what
- 1:57I mean. You got Lebron and MJ. You know what I'm saying,
- 2:00And I think, shoot, at one point, I mean, you remember
- 2:05fifty and Kanye was at the top at one point, and you know,
- 2:07fifty was like, you know, if Kanye beats me out, you know,
- 2:09I won't release any more music. And Kanye beat them out, and
- 2:13truthfully, you know, fifty ain't really released music after that. You know
- 2:15what I'm saying, but it just you know, from the standpoint of like
- 2:19anytime you have somebody that's great at something like and that's I guess what Joe
- 2:23is arguing that, Like, no matter how you slice it, Nas jay
- 2:27Z, they're both greats at what they do. It's just maybe for you
- 2:30one maybe for you. One may not be for you, but you can't
- 2:32take away the greatness of either. Yeah, And it's definitely one of those
- 2:37things that's curious because once you make it a thing where like people take a
- 2:42stand, I feel like sometimes it elevates both of them, like in it
- 2:46earrently, you know what I mean, because people look at it a different
- 2:49way because their expectations are different, you know. Yeah, yeah, Yeah,
- 2:53that's dope. Man. I'm glad that that, you know, that
- 2:57got some engagement. Man. I think that's kind of like what I did
- 3:00enjoy about the change in last week's episode is kind of how we did what
- 3:04we normally did, but we also touched on a few things that you know,
- 3:07people are actually talking about right now and like just current events, you
- 3:09know, yeah, facts and even in the comments like it was brought up
- 3:15about I don't know, I don't know if you remember specifically this, but
- 3:19I remember like actually like tuning in from Orlando like to kind of peep this.
- 3:23But like Hot ninety seven had jay Z on after they debuted Ether and
- 3:29Takeover, like when they had the battle and they did kind of like a
- 3:31live vote and nas won like vote like in ninety seven in New York,
- 3:38and jay Z was like on the station, you know the whole the vote
- 3:40was going, reacted to it like you know, you like kind of talked
- 3:46about it was it was a crazy thing, you know what I'm saying.
- 3:47And now like people that that don't remember that or maybe it was too young
- 3:52or wasn't tapped in like that, like that was a crazy thing. Like
- 3:53they actually like played both of thisses like back to back and just kind of
- 3:59was like, Yo, who y'all think one type? It's crazy? Man,
- 4:01that's dope, don't. I don't even think I've ever even heard of
- 4:04any current situations like that. I mean this, you know, beef this
- 4:10is or whatever ain't even the same no more, you know what I mean.
- 4:12It's nothing like how it used to be. Who's throwing jabs now?
- 4:15Or a little baby in blue face like peep that bro I peep that that's
- 4:18crazy. Come on, yeah, nobody, nobody listening for that. I
- 4:21didn't even I didn't even like go to try to go find that brother,
- 4:26that that little baby talk that we had about like that album. Bro,
- 4:30it's just held up because like he's just like bro for him to be at
- 4:33the point now that he's this and Blue Face dog like, come on,
- 4:38man, like, ain't no way man Like, even in retrospect, somebody
- 4:43like Gunna ain't gonna beef with Blue Face right now, you know what I'm
- 4:46saying, Like right right right, I feel like he owned like a whole
- 4:48different vibe. And you see, he just performed at the Bark Ladies and
- 4:51he's basically back. You know what I'm saying that whole whatever was going on
- 4:56and even why Itsel was like touting his return and everything. So that's it's
- 5:00gonna be an interesting story man, kind of hearing what went on there and
- 5:02like what gonna young thus relationship is you know, yeah, yeah, I
- 5:09mean it's it's it's a it's a touchy one. I'll tell you that just
- 5:13from the standpoint of like, you know, everybody can say whatever they want
- 5:16about the situation, you know what I mean, But nobody really knows exactly
- 5:19what really transpired, you know what I mean? Yeah, facts, Yeah,
- 5:24it's definitely one of those things like like you said, like it don't
- 5:26even make sense to speculate because so much is like up in the air about
- 5:30it. But it's definitely an interesting thing just from the point of view of
- 5:32like how people look at it from the street side and then looking at it
- 5:35from the actual side, like kind of how both things kind of intersect,
- 5:40you know, Yeah, yeah, exactly, Bro. Like touching on some
- 5:45of the news man like mad random, Bro, I came across an article
- 5:47like you know how Fat Joe got them new terror squad Air Forces. Yeah,
- 5:53he got like his collaboration. He's been doing like radio interviews kind of
- 5:57going around, uh, promoting that. And he pulled up Bill Clinton to
- 6:02give him a pair. Bro. He was at Clinton man, and he
- 6:06like actually like gave Bill Clinton a pair of Terror Squad Air Force ones.
- 6:12Bro. Do you think Bill Clint is gonna wear him? Yeah? Definitely,
- 6:16Bill Clinton wearing the forces bright to the golf course just because like a
- 6:24ghost, you know, Bill Clinton gonna do whatever. Man to say you
- 6:29know that he was for he was for the culture. Bro, it's crazy
- 6:32to even think that, like that's even a sentence, you know what I
- 6:36mean. Like Fat Joe gave a pair of air Forces to Bill Clint,
- 6:41like bru hey, but he's doing it right though. Man, you know
- 6:46he's definitely promoting them because they look like they look like the pandas you know
- 6:50what I'm saying, just forces, Yeah, and it's like he's it's like
- 6:54he even said, like, bro, he's he got a collab with like
- 6:58an official collab with Nike. He's a super sneaker head, you know,
- 7:00he's just part of the whole hip hop culture. So like this is such
- 7:03a major moment, you know what I'm saying, Like, come on,
- 7:08bro, a fifty year old Puerto Rican rapper getting a Nike deal, Like,
- 7:12yeah, it's crazy, but that's big, bro. It's way bigger
- 7:15than than what it would sound like on paper, you know what I mean.
- 7:17It's like it's big, it's going it's going across like real nonchalant,
- 7:23but like it really is something dope. Like and even just his career resurgence
- 7:26that's happened in the last you know, five to eight years or so,
- 7:31it's been just dope seeing like him do that switch up. You know.
- 7:34Yeah, it's been very organic, it seems, you know, facts,
- 7:38like just organic, like nothing nothing for it. The here today, going
- 7:42tomorrow kind of growth. It's like an organic growth that's happening to his career
- 7:46and it's outside the music. So that's that's really dope. Yeah, facts,
- 7:49man, something I want to touch on and we're I don't want to
- 7:54get specifically in on this, but just what I'm gonna kind of attach at
- 8:00the end of it. But Travis Scott was recently kind of like in a
- 8:03deposition for the astral World tragedy. You know what I'm saying, the rest
- 8:07in peace to those people that lost their lives in that situation. But it's
- 8:09just crazy to think about, bro, Like he's really just like an artist
- 8:15trying to like create an experience and then you end up with like a situation
- 8:18where people lose their life, you know what I mean. Like, that's
- 8:22a crazy thing for me to even think about, like that just me trying
- 8:26to get my art across could end up this situation happening, you know what
- 8:31I mean? Yeah, I think like even like if you think about it,
- 8:33man, a lot of these artists, these big artists, you know,
- 8:37they know they're big, but I don't think anybody can even wrap their
- 8:41head around being big enough to have an event and or you know, have
- 8:46a concert where people are so fanned out that something like that even happens,
- 8:52because that's I mean, you know, people want to blame the artists,
- 8:56but let's be real, bro, Like you know what I'm saying, people
- 8:58are fanned out it you know what I mean, perfect example of that.
- 9:03I think we touched on it on the podcast. It might have been off
- 9:05fair, but the Rock thing. Bro, like the Rock, he got
- 9:09so much bread, he got so much stuff going on, but he keeps
- 9:11coming back to wrestling. Why because everybody always says, like as far as
- 9:16wrestlers and big people like that that you know, Stone Coat, Steve Auston,
- 9:18John Seen all them people, they always say that reaction from a wrestling
- 9:24crowd is something that you cannot recreate and you can't feel it nowhere else.
- 9:28I feel like that's why, Like The Rock recently just came back and was
- 9:33on SmackDown with Pat McAfee. You know what I'm saying. It was a
- 9:35big deal and he really like soaked in the moment and the guy that the
- 9:41guy that was like the main writer that worked with The Rock when he was
- 9:45in WW, that the Rock actually kind of took with him and used him
- 9:48as a writer on like his own project, Brian Cowartz's. He's kind of
- 9:54alluded to the fact that The Rock understands the special connection and he has with
- 10:01the wrestling audience, and that's why he's so protective of what he does when
- 10:05he goes to WW because he never wants to lose that magic, you know
- 10:09what I mean. And it kind of speaks to what you're talking about with
- 10:13being an artist, like you know, like I said, Bro, no
- 10:16artist ever thinks like damn, my my attempt to create a spectacle is gonna
- 10:22do this, you know what I'm saying, Like, I'm pretty sure that
- 10:26was not on his radar, but it's just even crazy to think that,
- 10:28Like you have fans that Rabbit, you know what I'm saying, like that
- 10:33that they're gonna like swarm an area that you're at, you know, yeah,
- 10:37yeah, And I mean we saw it firsthand, man, when we
- 10:39went to Rolling Out, you know what I mean, we saw that firsthand,
- 10:43you know, like that was crazy, like and we we slid,
- 10:46bro, Remember, like, yeah, we went to the back. They
- 10:48restarted, like, man, let me, let's actually tell the story,
- 10:52Like we went to Rolling Loud in Miami the year before the pandemic happened,
- 10:56and no, it was that same year, right, it was like one
- 10:58of the last big events before it was twenty nineteen before before the shutdown.
- 11:03Yeah, yeah, facts, And we went to Rolling Loud and the headliner
- 11:09on the last day no on the sect on Saturday was Travis Scott and we
- 11:13stayed for the for his set and he was doing the Astra World set super
- 11:18dope. They had like a crazy like display at the event and everything,
- 11:24and when he came out, bro, Like people just started like swarming the
- 11:28front area so bad that it was like a stampede, bro. And they
- 11:33had kind of like slow it down for that, and then some kind of
- 11:37situation happened that people started running, bro. And when people started running,
- 11:41that's when they had to like stop the show and see what was going on.
- 11:43Like the cops came. Like it was just a whole bunch of craziness
- 11:46and we were just kind of like, Bro, I'm about to get out
- 11:50of here, you know what I mean, Like literally because it was so
- 11:52much crazy stuff going on and we had already ran like two or three times
- 11:56by that point, in fact, restarted the concert. Bro. We was
- 12:01already running Suicide Dog. And I'm like, yeah, Bro, I ain't
- 12:03trying to stay here for whatever coming next. You know what I'm saying,
- 12:07Mind you, mind you? Just to insert something real quick. I think
- 12:11earlier that yeah, yo, pause earlier that day, if I remember correctly,
- 12:18I don't know if it was Kodak or somebody had gotten shot or whatever,
- 12:22like literally earlier that day, same day, do you remember that it
- 12:26was an artist Koda got arrested. Somebody always girl I believe got shot,
- 12:31Okay, got you something like that car like he was in a whips and
- 12:35they got shot at and a girl he was weird, got shot allegedly.
- 12:37I don't even remember exactly what the situation was quote me on that, but
- 12:41I believe that's what it was. Got you, got You? I remember
- 12:46it was just a lot going on. Yeah, and I know that was
- 12:48like I remember that Rolling Loud specifically was like the spark of like a lot
- 12:54of people saying that Rolling even even Rolling out itself, was like cooperating.
- 12:58What cops try to get these rappers jammed up because like it had kind of
- 13:03started this thing where like cops were like waiting for rappers that shows to arrest
- 13:09him. Yeah yeah, and not only that too, but like Roland Low
- 13:13started getting a reputation of like crazy stuff happening at the festivals all the time,
- 13:18you know what I mean, It kind of got a little out of
- 13:20control. But yeah, that was that was a crazy time. But going
- 13:24back to the point, man, you know, yeah, that just having
- 13:28that much power, it's it's it's kind of like you know Kanye said in
- 13:33that song man, you know, I mean, no one man should have
- 13:35all that power. It's like that'sh's real. But you don't realize how deep
- 13:39that ship goes to a situation like that happens. It is crazy, man.
- 13:43And just to kind of connect that with two other things in the news
- 13:46that I want to lightly touch on a yo, but really just to lead
- 13:48to the main topic. But Tory Lanes got a new mud shout out.
- 13:54Basically it was just him being transferred to where he's actually going to serve his
- 13:56sentence. And like on the flip side of that, you know, I
- 14:01saw a headline about Big on a new song snippet, you know, new
- 14:05song snippet that he had put out, and just kind of thinking about the
- 14:09duality of that. You know, one guy going in for like ten years,
- 14:13the other guy coming out from doing like nine years. You know.
- 14:16It's kind of like the yin and the yang right there, And just to
- 14:20think about like this quote unquote street stuff, like what does it really mean
- 14:26at the end of the day. And then for somebody like big, like,
- 14:28are you like, did the incarceration do what quote unquote the state intended
- 14:35for it to do? You know, I mean, I'll say this from
- 14:41the big standpoint, man. You know, I think he just or they
- 14:48posted like clips of his new song with Boozy and he's like shouting out Boozy
- 14:54and the record, and I mean, it's cool, you know what I'm
- 14:56saying. But I will say that if you think about it from a standpoint
- 15:01of like, man, you just served mad time to come out sounding the
- 15:05exact same. I don't know, man, I mean to each his own,
- 15:09you know what I'm saying. But after the amount of time that he
- 15:13served brou I don't know, man, You you definitely see me in other
- 15:16ventures. Man, I got another life to live outside of this rap thing.
- 15:18Man, And I'm not trying to sound like the same dude that went
- 15:22in there twenty however many years ago it was facts man, Like it's so
- 15:26crazy because you know, we know people that have done time, and there's
- 15:33always this thing like you never know what's going to happen when a person comes
- 15:37out, Like sometimes dudes come out like more savage than they was before.
- 15:41Like once they go to jail, they get like this kind of chip on
- 15:43their shoulder and they feel like they got this batch of honor now and they
- 15:46get more wild and then sometimes to be the complete opposite, Like I gotta
- 15:50holdie that after he got arrested once, he never even like was on no
- 15:54dirt, no more like period, he turned his life completely around just from
- 15:58being arrested one time, like he did like twenty days or something like that,
- 16:02because nobody build him out and he was like, Bro, when he
- 16:04got out of jail, he was like, dog, I'm done. You
- 16:07know what I'm saying, Like was a completely different man, brou I mean,
- 16:14I don't blame him, you know what I'm saying, Like, I
- 16:15don't blame him. I think that you know, shoot, we only got
- 16:19one life, man. You spend a decade or two decades in a joint.
- 16:23Man, Like that should wake anybody up. You know what I'm saying.
- 16:26It sucks because it's like a it's a you know, it's like one
- 16:30of those never ending cycles that we always talk about where it's like, once
- 16:33you get out, it's kind of hard for you to get away from the
- 16:37life anyways, because you you know what I mean, everything, every opportunity
- 16:41that you would have, you know that that record follows you. So it's
- 16:45kind of hard. But I don't know, man, I still think that,
- 16:48you know, I'll do my best not to revert back to that man,
- 16:52because like I said, man, you only got one life. Man
- 16:55that time time you don't get back. And I think that's why, like
- 16:57when people go to jail and you know, it's crazy to me that like
- 17:02these you know, higher up you know, CEOs or do some wild stuff
- 17:07and they'll knock them over the head with a million dollar fee that don't hurt
- 17:10them at all, you know what I mean. But then you know,
- 17:12for small things, you know, somebody will get five ten years, when
- 17:15five ten years is so much more you know what I mean than five or
- 17:21ten million, you know what I mean, Like it's so much more Bro,
- 17:23Bro, I don't even do anything that would get me landed in jail.
- 17:26But like I'm deafinitely afraid of jail dog, Like just exactly what you're
- 17:30talking about, like time, Like you're just gonna take time from me.
- 17:37That is wild, Bro, That's super wild to me. Like I can't
- 17:41even imagine losing any time to jail. So like like you said, Bro,
- 17:45like for me, I feel like the best course of action would be
- 17:48just to do a complete reversal and whatever it could have landed you win jail
- 17:52dog, because you know, ain't nothing in jail or worth anything, you
- 17:56know what I'm saying, Like, Bro, you'd be seeing them pictures of
- 17:57dudes throwing up games. I was taking like group photos in jail, like
- 18:03you know, like still like repping the block, and it's like, damn
- 18:06bro, like for real, like it's like that. But you know it's
- 18:10something that we've touched on the show before. Like that's bro, when you
- 18:15don't got nobody two or three generations up with any sense, like what are
- 18:21you gonna do? You know what I'm saying, Yeah, it's funny because
- 18:25we got a little group chat and one of the homies happy to be lated
- 18:32birthday. Man, he just kind of like let his birthday come and go
- 18:36and then likely realized later like damn, bro, like you ain't even you
- 18:40know what I'm saying, Like you've been ghosts and he's just one of them
- 18:42dudes, you know what I'm saying, Like you don't. But it's kind
- 18:45of like I made it like a like a little joke, like basically saying
- 18:48like bro, when you when you're from the hood, dog, like you
- 18:51don't care about your birthday, bro, Like you know what I'm saying,
- 18:53Like it's just a day of disappointment, bro, Like let that ship come
- 18:57and go. Yeah. Yeah, but that's even like something that you know
- 19:03what I mean, is a crazy thing to just even not value like the
- 19:07you know, the fact that you've spent another year here. You know what
- 19:11I'm saying, like really really valuing the time that you're given, especially out
- 19:15being outside of jail. You know what I'm saying, facts facts, Man's
- 19:18I feel like, you know, the more time I spend living, the
- 19:22more time, the more precious time becomes, you know what I mean.
- 19:26It's like you start to really realize, like like I said, man,
- 19:30five to ten million compared to five to ten years, no question, five
- 19:33to ten years is more valuable, you know. So facts, it's kind
- 19:37of like a little segue. It's gonna feel random, but it's not.
- 19:42Shout out to start. Man. He got a show in October and New
- 19:45Smyrna Beach that ain't too far from me, So I'm definitely pulling up a
- 19:48wife. I'm mad excited to just have like a like a chill night that's
- 19:55like a dope thing when you can support the homies and just vibe to like
- 19:57it be actually like an excit at night because you know you're gonna have a
- 20:00good time. Yeah. It's literally one of the best comedians I've ever seen
- 20:03a live bro like and that's not even a blow smoke, Like really,
- 20:07he's just super dope. Like I was. I was just like in shock
- 20:11when I seen him the first time because just even knowing him, you know
- 20:14what I'm saying, Like, I've seen you in high school and now like
- 20:17you on stage just killing everybody, cracking up, all crazy like your own
- 20:22crowd that you brought out Like it's crazy, man, Like, shout out
- 20:25to him, man, But the reason why I brought him up is because
- 20:27the streets is a myth thing that he'd be on man, like that ship
- 20:32is super valid. And every time anything, like, you know, any
- 20:36one of these stories pop up, he always takes the opportunity to bring that
- 20:41up, and it's always relevant, saying, like people be living by these
- 20:45codes that are just imaginary codes that don't even benefit anybody, bro, facts,
- 20:51like anybody, not even you know how like you have like those uh
- 20:55what they call him, like Ponzi schemes where it's like a little imaginary code,
- 20:59but the person that the top is the one that's benefiting like these street
- 21:02codes, man ain't benefiting nobody, like nobody, Bro. I don't know,
- 21:07man, it's just a weird it's a weird thing, I feel like,
- 21:11you know, but if that's what you know, it's what you know,
- 21:12because you know, even we have to kind of grow out some of
- 21:15that stuff, you know, facts and then it's crazy, man, Like
- 21:18you would think that it's just common sense and everybody would realize it. But
- 21:23man, when when you're radius you know, going out pretty far is the
- 21:27same kind of people and you don't really know anybody on some other stuff,
- 21:32sometimes it's tough to get out of that because that's like you said, Bro,
- 21:36that's all you know, and that's all that's around you. And even
- 21:37when you go, you know, even farther, that's still around you and
- 21:44you know that that's that's a whole another topic even man, Like just like
- 21:48how how that whole you know, where you're at, it just affects like
- 21:52your worldview and what the things you do and what you you know, just
- 21:56even your moral compass, Like it's different in different places, you know what
- 22:00I mean. Like for example, for me, I didn't start smoking weed
- 22:03until I was like twenty five or something like that, you know what I
- 22:07mean, Like I was a super late bloomer. But everybody I knew smoked
- 22:11or so it was never a big deal to me or a thing to me
- 22:14to smell weed or you know what I'm saying, or for people to be
- 22:17smoking or for you know, somebody to have a little sack on them.
- 22:22Pause. It was it was a common thing. So like that whole culture
- 22:27was something that was easy for me to like roll into, and it was
- 22:33something that I noticed that other people around me that didn't have like the same
- 22:37background as me, it was a lot more difficult, like even bro,
- 22:38even something like this, Bro, like especially like when I was a kid.
- 22:45Bro, Like even like even like around that time, everybody around me
- 22:49was sold, you know what I'm saying, Like everybody around me, so
- 22:52we'd like it was just like from where we're from, like you know as
- 22:57well as I know, like you could think of like ten people probably right
- 23:02now that's still so weed, you know what I'm saying, Like that's just
- 23:04super common like with the people that we grew up with, but that's not
- 23:10a common thing for other people. Like, so people be actually having a
- 23:14hard time finding weed. Like I ended up finding that out when I started
- 23:17smoking, Like I didn't know before because I never smoked, you know,
- 23:19but I always have friends that sold, you know what I'm saying, Like,
- 23:22Bro, it was still the point where I had so many friends that
- 23:26sold that like when I first started smoking, people would just not even charge
- 23:32me like I had Like everybody was like yo, pull up on me,
- 23:34and I got you. You know what I'm saying. It was like they
- 23:37were just so like shocked and surprised and just wanted to see me smoking.
- 23:41Yeah, I got you, you know what I'm saying. But then come
- 23:45to find out, like there would be people that be like three or four
- 23:48people chilling, and they're all trying to figure out how to get some weed
- 23:52and they just can't. Like I'm like, damn, bro, three or
- 23:53four y'all y'all can't figure this out. But yeah, that that's surrounding that
- 24:00first, you know what I'm saying, And even that whole weed thing,
- 24:02like we never saw it as a big deal, but if we would have
- 24:04got pulled over or something, you know what I'm saying, your life could
- 24:07have been way different. You said that record, you know that, especially
- 24:15catching a quote unquote drug charge back in those times, Like Bro, you
- 24:18get pulled over with a little sack of weed back then, you know,
- 24:22they make you look like you el chappo, Like Facts just had a little
- 24:25personal sack. Facts, Bro, especially if they're trying to meet that quota.
- 24:30Oh yeah, you was on paper. Facts. You have a paper
- 24:33You ever seen them? Pictures of like a sheriff department and they got like
- 24:37half a zip or something and like three pre rolls and then they got like
- 24:41six sheriffs in the back with some a k's like they did something, you
- 24:45know what I mean? Like, Bro, that's eighty dollars worth of weed,
- 24:48bro, Facts, Facts, that's that I met my quota picture.
- 24:52Yeah, facts, they put that in the wall. It's it's crazy just
- 24:57even like you know, not even just in our lifetime, but in the
- 25:00last like five or ten years, how weird is transformed, like just in
- 25:06the eyes of like the general public. Yep, that's exactly why a lot
- 25:10of people that's in jail shouldn't be in jail anymore. Facts, Bro,
- 25:14that's dog, that's that's wild. Like like imagine being one of those people,
- 25:18you know what I'm saying. Imagine being one of those people in jail.
- 25:21You you know what I'm saying. You seeing the news, you know,
- 25:23you got your little TV for whatever however much time you can see and
- 25:27you see all these people making bookoo money off of the thing that you was
- 25:32doing just to try to keep your lights on. Crazy, bro, It's
- 25:37it's wild, man, It's it's it's something that doesn't like And that's always
- 25:42something that I think about in a life period, like just how like the
- 25:47times kind of like we were saying, like where you're born, the time
- 25:51that you're in the general area that you're in, Like, there's so many
- 25:53factors that affect how your life turns out. And for people to like basically
- 26:00volunteer themselves to go to jail. Bro It just it just blows my mind,
- 26:03you know. Yeah, that definitely feel that. It's definitely something that's
- 26:11easy for me and you to talk about because like we're two dudes that kind
- 26:15of recognize things and shifted, you know what I mean, Like we know
- 26:18so many people that just didn't have that, you know, they just didn't
- 26:22have that mindset and then things win another way for them. Yeah, and
- 26:27again it's kind of like, you know, eventually you gotta make a decision,
- 26:33you know what I mean, Like you can either decide that you want
- 26:34to continue doing the same thing, or you can decide that like, nah,
- 26:38I want to do something better. And I mean, again, you
- 26:41know what I mean, the odds are already stacked against us. So I
- 26:45understand that, you know what I'm saying, Like, I understand that aspect
- 26:48of it, But that doesn't mean we don't try. That doesn't mean we
- 26:52don't foot forth some kind of effort to have a better life where I'm not
- 26:56at risk, you know what I'm saying, Like my family, you know
- 27:00what I'm saying. I'm sure your family want to see you. You know
- 27:02what I'm saying come home, like you know what I mean? Like why
- 27:03why? You know what I mean? I don't know it just eventually you
- 27:07got to make that decision, you know. Facts, Man, that was
- 27:10something that definitely took me a long time to learn, like just as far
- 27:12as like as a team and everything, because I was like operating. I
- 27:18wasn't operating from the point of view before of like what I'm so much on
- 27:22now, as far as like making sure that I'm kind of like creating my
- 27:25own world and being in charge of what I'm doing and kind of like making
- 27:30sure that my life is going the way that I wanted to go and not
- 27:33letting anything get in the way or give me an excuse, you know,
- 27:34Like I wasn't on that before. Before I was on man, this is
- 27:40my situation. It sucks. You know, I'm just gonna fuck up because
- 27:45what else is there to do, you know what I'm saying. And that's
- 27:48just it's such a wrong point of view to have. And like if I
- 27:52would have just took the point of view of let me, like I said,
- 27:55create my own destiny and take to shit in my own hands, I
- 27:57would have got to where I'm at now much sooner. You know what I'm
- 28:00saying. I'm glad I'm here, of course, you know what I'm saying.
- 28:03But I definitely wish I could have told my younger self, like,
- 28:07yeah, bro, this stuff is going on around you, it's still your
- 28:10life though, you know what I'm saying, exactly same, Bro, I
- 28:14definitely feel you on that same here. And I think that's the beauty of
- 28:17the whole thing though, is that it's like, you know what I'm saying,
- 28:18Like, I don't have kids yet, but you have kids that you
- 28:22can guide them so that they don't make those same mistakes, you know.
- 28:25Facts, It's it's dope, man, Like even just like the experiences I
- 28:29have with my kids and stuff, like, like a lot of it is
- 28:33stuff that I never even had from the other point of view, you know
- 28:36what I'm saying, like as a kid, so like it's kind of like
- 28:38new for both of us even you know, like he kind of even just
- 28:42like navigating this side of it, you know, But it's just it's it's
- 28:47I wouldn't trade trade the world for it, bro. Like I know,
- 28:51Bro, I know for a fact that my life would not have turned out
- 28:55good if I didn't have my daughter. You know what I'm saying, Like
- 28:57that was like the thing that, like, like I said, Bro,
- 29:00before I was kind of like on something like, Yo, this is my
- 29:03situation. It is what it is, you know, And then after that,
- 29:06I was like, nah, bro, I gotta change this. Bro.
- 29:10Like, like I said, Dog, I can't even imagine, like
- 29:12with how this thing would have went if things have been different. You know.
- 29:17Yeah, I definitely feel that, definitely feel that. But yeah,
- 29:21man, we we we got to that time again, dog, Billboard top
- 29:26ten game. Let's get it. We need we need like some people to
- 29:30give us some suggestions to the name of the game. If anybody's trying to
- 29:33get on and have a showdown, let us know. I don't know if
- 29:37everybody's gonna like gravitate to it like I am, but Dog, I get
- 29:41genuinely excited about this thing, man, Like bro, Well, yeah,
- 29:47man, this week, obviously Joe's not here. Hopefully he's back. No,
- 29:49he will be back next week for sure, but yeah, Joe's not
- 29:52here, but we're gonna do it just kind of it's a scrimmage, you
- 29:56know what I'm saying, Like, He's gonna let people know what the game
- 29:59is about. Get a little more familiar with a joke and listen back and
- 30:03kind of play along in his own head and see, you know how it
- 30:06might have shaped up for him. You know, you know, just get
- 30:08everybody familiar with the game, so you know, we build this legacy.
- 30:12Die, I want to play this game live one day, man, all
- 30:17right, bet man. So this is the week of November twenty second,
- 30:22two thousand and three Billboard Top ten. Basically, the game is I'm gonna
- 30:29give you some clues that have a lot to do with the song in the
- 30:37wording of the clues. Okay, so that's something that everybody got to pay
- 30:42attention to, Like there's gonna be specific words in the clues that's gonna kind
- 30:48of let you know where to go with it. And obviously the year and
- 30:52everything in the genre. But uh, let's get it, man. So
- 30:56the first first one, the first one is gonna be kind of like a
- 31:03little combination. So the first one I got is this with two spots.
- 31:10This week, this rapper took action and conversed with the concierge on the charts
- 31:17with these bangers. So this guy had two songs on the charts this week.
- 31:25One of them was his own record the other one was a collaboration.
- 31:32And you can give me any combination of any of you know, either record
- 31:38the rapper. You know what I'm saying. Whatever you got, you can
- 31:42tell me. So I'm gonna read the clue again again. This is the
- 31:48week of November twenty second, two thousand and three, so with two spots
- 31:55this week. This rapper took action and versed with the concierge on the charts
- 32:02with these bangers, action and conversed with the concert concier Day took action,
- 32:22bro when irty rat, when I tell you you're gonna be pissed at yourself,
- 32:25Bro, I feel like I'm already am took action. Conversed. Damn,
- 32:35I ain't got no lot of clues. This rapper took action and conversed
- 32:38with the concierge on the charts with these two bangers, is it Kanye West?
- 32:50No, sir, no sir? Oh my gosh. Took raption is
- 33:00ludicrous and the songs are stand up and holiday in Dan took action and conversed
- 33:10with the concierge. I thought theie was a giveaway. I debated even that
- 33:15was a good one. That was a good one. That was a good
- 33:17clue actually dang, and that was songs two and three on the chart that
- 33:22week. Number two was stand Up Ludacris featuring Shawna. Number three was Holiday
- 33:29in Chingy featuring Ludacris and Snoop Dog on fire Boy. Yeah, man,
- 33:36Ludacris is going crazy, all right, So let's move on to the next
- 33:40one here. I feel like you're gonna get this one, I hope.
- 33:45So this Sweet Spanish Flavor was a collaboration that was a commercial hip hop hit.
- 33:54Oh uh no Sweet, There's more, okay, the collaboration that was
- 34:07a commercial hip hop hit, Oh my god, it's uh, oh my
- 34:17god. What's the rapper and the singer? Is it? Uh norimkanto?
- 34:27No dang it is? Let me let me get the chart position here.
- 34:32You're gonna be tired about this one, because if it's not, it's the
- 34:40two the girl, the it's like two females. Number nine on the charts,
- 34:46and it was on its way up. It was the eleventh of the
- 34:49week before then it was nine, and it was four. It had fourteen
- 34:52weeks on the chart at this point. Baby Bash featuring Frankie Jay Sugar Sugar
- 34:59my God. Yeah, but that song was like, Oh my gosh,
- 35:10Bro, you're gonna feel like you missed the game winner when you go to
- 35:14sleep to night. Dog Oh man, crazy? All right, bro,
- 35:20if you don't get this one, Dog, well, you know you know
- 35:23what it is. I think I think for the coming weeks, I'm gonna
- 35:27have to throw a little bit more clues in it, because if when I
- 35:30think about it, it's like if I just give you the year, you
- 35:34can kind of have a general idea of who it could be. But at
- 35:37the same time it's a little abstract. But this one, I feel like
- 35:39you'll get. Okay, another all right, let me get it again.
- 35:45Another collaboration that took the Queen to the Islands and came back with a number
- 35:52one hit. I would assume Rihanna, but I gotta have the song.
- 36:06But is it Rihanna? No, the Queen. It's not Beyonce. Huh,
- 36:13I know it is. It's Beyonce and and uh Sean Paul. What's
- 36:17the song? Uh, I'm Beyonce. It's Sean Paul. What's his name
- 36:22of that song? Damn, baby boy, baby boy? There you go,
- 36:30baby boy? Yeah, yes, sir, that was actually the number
- 36:35one song that week. November twenty second, two thousand and three, Number
- 36:39one. It had been weeks. It had been fifteen weeks on the charts,
- 36:44but it doesn't say how long it's been on the charts. But yeah,
- 36:46it was bro. Check out this top ten. Bro. This was
- 36:49hip hop Heavy Dog number one, Baby Boy Beyonce featuring Sean Paul, Number
- 36:57two, Stand Up Ludicrous featuring Gna, Number three, Holiday and Chingy featuring
- 37:02Ludacris and Snoop Dogg. Number four, Damn Young Bloods featuring Little John Dang,
- 37:08number five, Hey Y'ah Outcast, number six, Here Without You,
- 37:15Three Doors Down, number seven, Get Low, Little John and the East
- 37:20Side Boys featuring the Yan Yang Twins. Number eight, The Way You Move
- 37:24Outcast featuring Wow, number nine, Sugar Sugar Baby Bass featuring Frankie Jay,
- 37:30and number ten Step in the Name of Love R Kelly. So everything was
- 37:37R and B and hip hop besides number six, Here Without You, three
- 37:39Doors Down and look at Us Today, brou. I was just I was
- 37:45just I was just seeing how some people kind of discussing what was it that.
- 37:51I guess hip hop is no longer the hottest genre anymore. It's like
- 37:57become like island music. Or like be in music. Yep, yep,
- 38:00yeah that's afrobeats that Yeah, yeah, that's crazy, man. It's definitely
- 38:07changed the game. Bro, hip hop fifty years old. Dog, every
- 38:12everything has this ride, everything has this fall. Yeah, crazy, he
- 38:16would never consider that with music. You know what I'm saying, Like it's
- 38:19gonna come a day where it just disappears. Bro, It's already disappearance.
- 38:22It's disappearance for sure, especially like Bro, like because even Bro, I
- 38:28grew up on the Dog. One of my favorite songs of all times is
- 38:32grand Master Flash and the Furious Five. The message like that on in my
- 38:37shuffle. I'm letting that ride like that's a to me, that's a banger,
- 38:39and you can't tell me nothing different, but songs sound like that right
- 38:44now. Dog, it's not getting a second listen from me. Bro facts,
- 38:47you know what I'm saying, Like them joints captured a moment in time
- 38:52like they was special. Then it ain't special no more, you know what
- 38:54I'm saying, Like that's why hip hop gota evolved, and like we just
- 38:58got to hope that the people that's evolving it are actually like keeping the history
- 39:04in mind, to keep those elements that we love you know what I'm saying,
- 39:07Like for me, Bro, Like even going back to the NAS and
- 39:12jay Z thing, Like, for me, lyrics are very high on the
- 39:15list, you know what I'm saying. Not saying that I could listen to
- 39:19some bullshit here and there, because I like the bullshit too, But a
- 39:22lot of the times I want to hear you saying something. You know.
- 39:24That's why NAS has always been dope to me, because you know, other
- 39:29people could say, yeah, the Beats wasn't all that, but but I'm
- 39:31like, Bro, I'm not listening for beats. You know what I'm saying.
- 39:35Yeah, you hear what he's saying. For what he's saying, because
- 39:37he's saying something that nobody else is saying, bro, And it kind of
- 39:42just that goes hand in hand with like the changes in hip hop is like
- 39:45bro bringing into the future. I'm all for it, but just keep that
- 39:50energy in there, you know what I'm saying, Like, remember where it
- 39:52came from, Like, Bro, I'm from I'm from that vibe. But
- 39:55like you ain't even really supposed to wrap unless you got a reason rap,
- 40:00you know what I'm saying. Like even like like even in our error,
- 40:04Bro, like people that were like backpack rappers or like hip hop nerds and
- 40:07stuff, like they had to fight their way in because like people that was
- 40:10just like like if you was just in the culture, bro, like you
- 40:14wouldn't you wasn't cool with the outsiders, you know what I'm saying, And
- 40:16people that just kind of like came into the culture just for hip hop.
- 40:22It was one of those things where it's like like it had to be something
- 40:25that had to like adjust and grow, you know what I mean. It
- 40:30wasn't just something that you could just say, Oh, I like rapping and
- 40:34that's it, you know what I'm saying, Like, what are you rapping
- 40:36about? Exactly? Yeah. I think that's another reason why I always find
- 40:40it so interesting how hip hop is one of the few genres that like kind
- 40:45of carries that stigma, you know what I'm saying, Like if you look
- 40:47at any other genre, it's kind of just like more so about the music,
- 40:51you know what I mean. Yeah, Yeah, And it's like I
- 40:53could definitely see both sides, bro, it makes sense. But for me,
- 40:58my like, for my taste personally, I'd like to hear somebody that's
- 41:04saying something with a reason behind it. You know what I'm saying. Yeah,
- 41:07but yeah, I also like j Cole, which he'll tell you,
- 41:10you know, he had hard times, but he'll say you know, he'll
- 41:14tell you he ain't like super hood or something, but he's talking about some
- 41:17real stuff, you know what I'm saying. Same thing with Kanye. You
- 41:20know what I'm saying. His struggle wasn't some crazy street struggle, but you
- 41:24know, he showed what it was and just like you know, put that
- 41:29lyricism in front and really like used his words to really explain it and get
- 41:34you to feel it, you know what I'm saying. And to me,
- 41:37that's what hip hop is about, bro like, just and that's why the
- 41:40message is such a dope song to me, because like it's so real and
- 41:45raw, bro like even just like telling the story of like some dude going
- 41:50to jail and coming back and just ending up back in the same cycle like
- 41:53that song. Like the verses on that song are so crazy, and like
- 41:58if you come from a background of like kind of seeing that, bro like,
- 42:00it hits different, you know, and it kind of even touches on
- 42:04the Rolling a Loud thing, because when I went to Rolling Aloud with you,
- 42:07like that was the first time that I had went to like a festival,
- 42:09like a music thing like that, you know what I'm saying, And
- 42:14it was like, Bro, I'm like, yo, like these are the
- 42:17people that's listening to this music? Like you know what I'm saying, Like
- 42:21it's like me and my homies listening to this music. Like I would have
- 42:23thought it was gonna be people like me and my homies here, you know
- 42:27what I'm saying, But it was not people like me and my homies at
- 42:30the concert. And I'm not saying that's a good or a bad thing.
- 42:32It just tells you the reach that hip hop has and how it's transformed,
- 42:37you know. But like I said, Bro, like that that that message
- 42:43and whatever you're really trying to say, Like to me, that's always going
- 42:45to be the first thing that stands out to me. You know. Yeah,
- 42:51that's really I think as a as a hip hop artist, that's kind
- 42:52of like probably the most important thing. And I think for me, it's
- 42:59all always been like trying to find that balance of what am I saying?
- 43:02But how can I make it sound good saying it? You know what I
- 43:05mean? Like I don't want to sound like I'm preaching either, you know
- 43:07what I mean. But it's just you know, it's just you gotta kind
- 43:10of have that balance. Yeah, and even bro, like this is random,
- 43:14but even just musically, like I got to open my horizons a little
- 43:17bit because we were talking about Taylor Swift and like I don't even like I'm
- 43:23so like, I don't even know what's going on with her that like I
- 43:27couldn't even tell you what the song sound like or whatever. And then I
- 43:30have pulled up there because I used the audio of the song with her and
- 43:35I spice for the that reel that we posted. I pulled it up and
- 43:39then I heard I forgot the name of the song, but another one of
- 43:43the songs up there. It was like I heard the chorus of it and
- 43:49I'm like, damn bro. Like and they say that she writes her own
- 43:51music, I'm like, damn bro, this is super dope the way she
- 43:53wrote this, and like it made me understand, like, dann, this
- 43:57is why people like. Just hearing that hook let me know why she's so
- 44:01big. It was like, damn bro, this hook is some real stuff.
- 44:06It was like a hook basically her saying like like she's she's recognizing that
- 44:10she's the problem in the situation, you know what I'm saying, like,
- 44:15and it was like I heard the hook and I'm like, bro, this
- 44:16is so dope, like the way that she wrote this, and just like
- 44:20anybody could feel that, you know what I'm saying, no matter who you
- 44:22are, you hear that hook and you could relate to it, bro,
- 44:25because like we all have that moment when we realize we're the problem in a
- 44:29situation. It might not be every situation, but there's definitely been a situation
- 44:32and multiple situations where we were the ones that was wrong you know what I'm
- 44:37saying, And it just something where I was like, damn, that's dope.
- 44:40You know what I'm saying, like and I understood, like yo,
- 44:43like you know, and it kind of goes back to the hip hop thing
- 44:45like bro, like you gotta keep that flavor in it, but also bring
- 44:50that thing that's gonna make people say like, oh, okay, you know
- 44:52what I'm saying, Like that's why this is this? You know? Yeah,
- 44:55exactly. No, I mean, I definitely shoot, I'm I'm not
- 45:00like a crazy fan, but I mean living with rob and I definitely hear
- 45:06her music a lot, and she got some good stuff. Bro, she
- 45:08got some joints that I hear and I'm like, Yo, she she's dope.
- 45:12Yeah, Bro, same with like Ariana Grande man Like, I never
- 45:15check it out until my daughter started listening to her and like songs that I
- 45:20would catch here and there. I was like, I would listen. I'm
- 45:22like, oh, I catch like fifteen twenty seconds of it. I'll stay
- 45:24listening a little more. I'm like, oh, this song is dope and
- 45:27I what is this? And She'll tell me and then I'll add it to
- 45:30my library because it's like, Bro, there's just like and it kind of
- 45:34talked like to kind of even like take it out of the hip hop thing
- 45:37and kind of wrap it up. Like music in general, bro, is
- 45:39about having a unique message to it. You know what I'm saying, Like
- 45:43you gotta be able to portray what you're going through in your story and just
- 45:46the way that's appealing to somebody, you know, to their ear, you
- 45:50know what I'm saying. And it's one of those things where real music is
- 45:57gonna cut through. But me as a hip hop fan, Bro, I
- 45:59just wanted to have that hip hop flavor because that's just that's the energy.
- 46:02I like you know what I'm saying, even like I was, you know,
- 46:06I was telling you I've been starting to make beats, and you know
- 46:09the main goal was just to strictly just to make beats for myself, you
- 46:14know what I'm saying, which I've done and I got a couple of ones
- 46:16that I'm super excited about. But you know, I've been getting ideas for
- 46:22hip hop joints, you know what I'm saying, and I've been just letting
- 46:23them out because it's like, bro, like that's my first love, really,
- 46:27you know what I'm saying, hip hop music, and even like my
- 46:30want to be a producer, like it started when I was a rapper and
- 46:34I was like kind of like the first kinds of beats I was making.
- 46:36So I'm excited to just keep on rolling that and you know, just getting
- 46:40further deep into that. That's dope. That's super dope. Man. But
- 46:45yeah, man, Bro, I can't believe it's already been forty six minutes,
- 46:49Doug, Like I thought thirty minutes or something. Super dope episode.
- 46:53Like I said, I'm excited to keep going with these new vibes. I'm
- 46:57excited to get Joe back next week to catch up on every thing. What's
- 47:00going on with you, bro? What you got going on? Man?
- 47:04I got uh this new joints so cold dropping on Friday. Man, it
- 47:07was super dope doing the video shoot. Man sat out to Nyance. Man.
- 47:13She she really came through and held it down and was super super professional,
- 47:16you know, with the whole process. So that was dope. But
- 47:20yeah, Man, I'm excited about this fong and video. I think it's
- 47:23gonna be really dope. Yeah. Man, I'm excited just to hear it
- 47:28and see these new releases you got coming man, and Bro, I'm about
- 47:31to I took a little hiatus, man. The Salon's doing great. Uh,
- 47:37I'm ready to hit the ground running. Man. I got a whole
- 47:39bunch of dope joints on the way. Got a little session playing soon where
- 47:44it's just gonna be organizing everything I got because it's like I can't just keep
- 47:46going and recording, bro, Like I gotta start putting stuff together to release.
- 47:51Yeah, the new music's on the way, man, I'm excited.
- 47:53I'm excited about the shows, the Salon and music. Bro. Everything's hitting
- 47:58on all cylinders right now. Complaint you know what I'm saying. And I'm
- 48:00just feeling real butter not h m hm
