- 0:57Speaker 3: I'm your former Hallmark. Today we're discussing love at the
- 1:02Speaker 3: Thanksgiving Day Parade, which originally aired on November first, twenty twelve,
- 1:06Speaker 3: as part of our fan favorite fall movie review series.
- 1:12Speaker 3: We would love for you to connect with us outside
- 1:14Speaker 3: of the podcast on Instagram. We're Megan and Wendy and
- 1:17Speaker 3: Girls Gone Hallmark.
- 1:19Speaker 4: Jump into our Facebook group Girls Gone Hallmark. We got
- 1:22Speaker 4: a great, fun, engaged group over there, and.
- 1:27Speaker 3: The Facebook group is going to explode today because joining us.
- 1:32Speaker 3: On today's episode, we have Dan and Brand from Deck
- 1:36Speaker 3: the Hallmark. I want to read so much for being here.
- 1:39Speaker 5: Hello goodness, Hello, Hello, We listen.
- 1:43Speaker 6: We've been trying to make this work a long time
- 1:45Speaker 6: and you guys couldn't meet our rider. We asked for
- 1:47Speaker 6: Fiji water to be sent to the studio and there
- 1:51Speaker 6: was a lot of words exchange that I won't repeat,
- 1:54Speaker 6: but listen, I feel like we can let bygones be
- 1:56Speaker 6: bygones and we can really make it, make it happen.
- 1:59Speaker 5: So I'm trying to join you Facebook group. The first
- 2:01Speaker 5: thing is no hate speech for bullying. How you're out
- 2:03Speaker 5: and I'm out in the cu Respect everyone's privacy in
- 2:08Speaker 5: the office. I've been promotions or spam. Okay, all right,
- 2:11Speaker 5: I'm in. Oh he's in. I did it ies be bygones.
- 2:15Speaker 5: I won't bully anybody this time.
- 2:17Speaker 6: We're excited to be here. I want to be very clear,
- 2:20Speaker 6: all joking aside. You guys are wonderful and we're super
- 2:23Speaker 6: excited to be here because I do feel like we're
- 2:26Speaker 6: kindred spirits. I feel like the way that we watch
- 2:29Speaker 6: these movies uh lines up and that you can't say
- 2:33Speaker 6: that about all Hallmark viewers.
- 2:34Speaker 3: As Wendy mentioned in our intro, she's our reformed Hallmark hater.
- 2:37Speaker 6: You and Dan, you get it, well, can you?
- 2:40Speaker 5: Wendy? So what happened? How did you end up falling
- 2:44Speaker 5: for these movies?
- 2:46Speaker 4: She dragged me, kicking and screaming.
- 2:50Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, so that's what I did. But I was
- 2:53Speaker 5: like hoping there was some secret like formula that I
- 2:56Speaker 5: can I don't know magic.
- 2:58Speaker 3: I boarded her with Hallmark movie.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Got it and reformed is a loose term, but you know,
- 3:05Speaker 4: I try to play nice to the listeners.
- 3:07Speaker 6: You know, I would say the bridge that I've crossed
- 3:09Speaker 6: is is I used to hate them, now I love
- 3:11Speaker 6: to hate them, so like now I do like I
- 3:15Speaker 6: know a lot of the people that are in them now,
- 3:18Speaker 6: which does change my perspective. If you listen to like
- 3:21Speaker 6: the first season of our show, you'll hear me just
- 3:23Speaker 6: being like this guy he's a bad actor, and this
- 3:25Speaker 6: girl like, And now I don't do that because I've
- 3:28Speaker 6: I've got a little bit more maturity about me and
- 3:30Speaker 6: I realized that, you know, these are people. But I
- 3:33Speaker 6: also still think a lot of these movies are just
- 3:35Speaker 6: God awful and so you know that's that's where we
- 3:39Speaker 6: end up.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Truth. Yeah, well, you guys put up five episodes a week.
- 3:43Speaker 3: And I have a real quick question about your process
- 3:46Speaker 3: because it's not just Hallmark movies you do Lifetime. You're
- 3:49Speaker 3: in the middle of a fast and Furious review series.
- 3:53Speaker 3: Are you like watching a movie every night? Do you
- 3:56Speaker 3: have a movie marathon one day a week? How are
- 3:58Speaker 3: you because it's a lot to watch and review that
- 4:01Speaker 3: many movies every week.
- 4:02Speaker 6: Yeah, we don't actually watch them, We just give it. Yeah,
- 4:05Speaker 6: I'm just kind of wing. I've been watching nothing but
- 4:07Speaker 6: k dramas. I watch only Korean television. I don't watch
- 4:11Speaker 6: anything anything else. H No, I you The thing about
- 4:15Speaker 6: our life is is it is very like you can't
- 4:19Speaker 6: come home, like my wife works in healthcare, Like I
- 4:21Speaker 6: cannot go home and be like what a day to
- 4:23Speaker 6: day because we watch movies for a living, So our
- 4:30Speaker 6: mondays are pretty packed around here. We usually watch two
- 4:34Speaker 6: movies and an episode of a TV show by lunchtime,
- 4:37Speaker 6: and sometimes we pass. Sometimes we have to watch during
- 4:40Speaker 6: during lunch, so sometimes we have to order that pizza
- 4:43Speaker 6: and just keep watching as and sometimes we send producer
- 4:46Speaker 6: Aaron to go to go get us lunch. So it's
- 4:50Speaker 6: tough around here. We watched We watch a lot on
- 4:53Speaker 6: Monday and then the rest of the week we usually
- 4:55Speaker 6: watch one or two things throughout the weekend. We watch
- 4:58Speaker 6: nothing on the nights of the weekends.
- 5:00Speaker 3: So it is a legitimate you're watching.
- 5:02Speaker 6: We watch in we have a watch room.
- 5:04Speaker 5: We watch it together.
- 5:05Speaker 6: We hold hands, recliners in a surround sound system and
- 5:08Speaker 6: we hold hands.
- 5:10Speaker 5: Stop we had but like, why you're trying to make this.
- 5:15Speaker 5: We don't hold hands. You're making it weird.
- 5:18Speaker 6: We don't hold hands constantly, but occasionally, if Brand thinks
- 5:22Speaker 6: something's really great and he doesn't get it, he'll reach
- 5:24Speaker 6: over and he'll grab my arm or something. That is true. Uh.
- 5:28Speaker 6: But we have a mini fridge filled with beverages, mostly
- 5:32Speaker 6: non alcoholic, and we we spend the day watching uh
- 5:35Speaker 6: these movies and then we record the episodes and that
- 5:37Speaker 6: we're in our studio, which is just across the hall,
- 5:40Speaker 6: so we have a little office space. It is if
- 5:42Speaker 6: you're gonna listen. There's a lot of ways to watch
- 5:44Speaker 6: these movies. I think most people watch them while doing
- 5:47Speaker 6: another task. We like dissect them. And you guys are
- 5:51Speaker 6: in that same boat, and so for us, it's the
- 5:53Speaker 6: it's the job. The hardest part of my week every
- 5:56Speaker 6: week is watching Wind Calls the Heart. That is the
- 5:59Speaker 6: hardest part of my work week. So when my wife,
- 6:02Speaker 6: like you know, dealt with a you know, an infant
- 6:04Speaker 6: who is premature, I can't go home and be like, well,
- 6:08Speaker 6: you know, we had to watch what it calls the
- 6:09Speaker 6: Heart day.
- 6:10Speaker 5: I think Elizabeth is going back to Nathan and I, well,
- 6:14Speaker 5: people are going crazy. I don't like it.
- 6:16Speaker 6: Bill Avery owns the restaurant, but he eats at the bar.
- 6:19Speaker 6: I don't understand, Like, we can't do that. So, yeah,
- 6:22Speaker 6: it's pretty great. We were living the dream around here
- 6:24Speaker 6: and we count it joy every single day because we
- 6:27Speaker 6: can't believe we get to do it. So we don't
- 6:29Speaker 6: have to stay up late or watch them like, we
- 6:31Speaker 6: just watch them during the day. We have a schedule
- 6:33Speaker 6: that we put together and we just show up at
- 6:34Speaker 6: nine and start watching movies.
- 6:36Speaker 5: We hold hands.
- 6:38Speaker 3: So look, as we're recording this, the countdown to Christmas
- 6:41Speaker 3: lineup has just dropped. Do you feel like you're gearing
- 6:43Speaker 3: up for a marathon going into this season?
- 6:46Speaker 6: Now, you guys don't watch them, all right, we do
- 6:49Speaker 6: not watch them all the day the schedules release is
- 6:51Speaker 6: one of my favorite days of the year, and I
- 6:53Speaker 6: hate these movies, but there's something about the It's like
- 6:57Speaker 6: pulling for a bad baseball team. You know, at the
- 6:59Speaker 6: beginning of the baseball season, if you know your team's
- 7:01Speaker 6: gonna be bad, there's still this weird like hope in
- 7:03Speaker 6: the air, you know, where you're.
- 7:04Speaker 5: Like, maybe maybe if everything falls.
- 7:07Speaker 6: Into place, this is the year, And I think that's
- 7:09Speaker 6: the schedule release day is kind of that day for me.
- 7:14Speaker 6: We have an actual marathon to start off the Christmas
- 7:17Speaker 6: season where we watch movies for twenty four straight hours
- 7:20Speaker 6: stream and the holiday season is a blur typically because
- 7:24Speaker 6: we are watching during that time of year. We do.
- 7:27Speaker 6: We'll watch the first two movies on Monday and record
- 7:30Speaker 6: the episodes, and then we'll watch the next two movies
- 7:32Speaker 6: on Wednesday and record those episodes, and we'll release Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday,
- 7:36Speaker 6: and then we cover a Lifetime movie every week, a
- 7:38Speaker 6: Netflix movie every week, and a movie from another network
- 7:41Speaker 6: typically every week. So it's crazy, it's crazy, but it's fun.
- 7:45Speaker 6: We look forward to it all year. I do love Christmas,
- 7:49Speaker 6: even if I don't like these movies and so it
- 7:51Speaker 6: is a fun time, even if it does seem intermountable.
- 7:55Speaker 5: It's the best. It's the best. I can't wait. I'm
- 7:58Speaker 5: so excited.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, in addition to being our former homework hater,
- 8:02Speaker 3: Wendy's also a holiday hater, like it doesn't like Christmas.
- 8:05Speaker 3: So for me, this is like my best time of
- 8:08Speaker 3: the year across the board. So I'm all in. I
- 8:11Speaker 3: think we can all agree. The bar has been raised
- 8:14Speaker 3: on homemark in the past couple of years. I like
- 8:16Speaker 3: the whole season, so I'm all in on that too.
- 8:19Speaker 6: Wendy. When you say you're a holiday hater, are you
- 8:21Speaker 6: a don't celebrate this until it's time or are you
- 8:24Speaker 6: just like screw Christmas and the horse that rode in on?
- 8:27Speaker 3: A little of both?
- 8:28Speaker 4: Actually, Like you know, when Starbucks comes out with like
- 8:32Speaker 4: there are Christmas cups.
- 8:33Speaker 5: Like do I know it? This guy reminds me eight
- 8:35Speaker 5: hundred times before it's out.
- 8:37Speaker 4: You know, I get on Twitter and bitch about it,
- 8:39Speaker 4: and you know, I just it's that kind of stuff.
- 8:42Speaker 4: And then Christmas time, it's just like so many obligations,
- 8:45Speaker 4: so many things to do.
- 8:47Speaker 3: It's just a lot for me. I'm sorry.
- 8:49Speaker 5: Yeah, you just take that up with baby Jesus and
- 8:52Speaker 5: go from there. Yeah, that's you.
- 8:54Speaker 6: You got to deal with infant Jesus during Christmas and
- 8:57Speaker 6: you don't want any part of that. I might be
- 9:00Speaker 6: like after Thanksgiving. I love Christmas, like from the day
- 9:03Speaker 6: after Thanksgiving the Christmas Like, I think it's fantastic. But
- 9:06Speaker 6: you know, when you're starting movies ten days before Halloween,
- 9:10Speaker 6: this is what was what we're doing now?
- 9:11Speaker 5: Like that is? You know, that's something. It's a different world.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Is there one movie in this lineup that you're actually
- 9:18Speaker 3: genuinely excited about looking forward to?
- 9:19Speaker 6: Oh, Christmas is the Biltmore. I Like, we got to
- 9:23Speaker 6: go up and hang out with Chris and Joy for
- 9:25Speaker 6: a day, which was fun. That was a blast. We
- 9:29Speaker 6: live close to lean from the Builtmore. You go up
- 9:33Speaker 6: every year on a field trip when you're a kid
- 9:34Speaker 6: when you live here, and you're bored to tears at
- 9:37Speaker 6: least I was. And then you go up now and
- 9:39Speaker 6: it's very very nice and beautiful. But I mean, this
- 9:42Speaker 6: is a movie that has Palaha and Bethany joy Lens,
- 9:45Speaker 6: which for my money, maybe the two best on the network.
- 9:48Speaker 6: Joy Lends definitely, I think she gets it, like she
- 9:52Speaker 6: gets the bit of what it means to be in
- 9:54Speaker 6: one of these movies. And I think she's great, Chris
- 9:57Speaker 6: is amazing, and it's so you get that it's time
- 10:00Speaker 6: travel movie. Yeah, and it's an old Hollywood movie yeah,
- 10:04Speaker 6: and so I think, And they put a lot more
- 10:06Speaker 6: money into it. It's two and a half times the
- 10:08Speaker 6: budget of a normal homemark movie. So a lot of
- 10:12Speaker 6: high hopes for Christmas.
- 10:13Speaker 5: At the Billmore. It's hard for me to get past it.
- 10:15Speaker 5: I'm just so excited about it. I I you know,
- 10:18Speaker 5: the the there's so many this year. I'm always excited
- 10:22Speaker 5: to see that. Like the fact that the first week
- 10:24Speaker 5: ind Michael Rady's gonna be there's exciting. I love that guy.
- 10:27Speaker 5: I get more like excited about seeing the people that
- 10:31Speaker 5: we like. Sure, and then if the movie is a
- 10:34Speaker 5: fun one, and like last year, like Ghost of Christmas
- 10:38Speaker 5: was always was like a surprise one because we didn't
- 10:40Speaker 5: really really know the people. But like the plot's really good.
- 10:43Speaker 5: So I love that there's a mix, like we have
- 10:45Speaker 5: the people that we love, but we're also getting some
- 10:47Speaker 5: weird and wacky plots this year as well. So all
- 10:51Speaker 5: forty final.
- 10:52Speaker 6: Answer, No, there's one called like the Christmas mural and
- 10:56Speaker 6: I feel asleep just reading the title. They're not all winners.
- 10:59Speaker 6: It's clear they're trying things like we we love for
- 11:02Speaker 6: them to take big swings. I think that's the thing
- 11:05Speaker 6: Homework was scared to do for about a decade in
- 11:07Speaker 6: a lot of ways, not just with like who's represented
- 11:10Speaker 6: on the network, but also what kind of plots they have.
- 11:12Speaker 6: And that's why that joke became such an easy joke
- 11:15Speaker 6: to tell, which is every Hamework movie is the same.
- 11:17Speaker 6: You know, the big city girl goes to the small
- 11:20Speaker 6: town and her high school sweethearts chopping wood and blah
- 11:22Speaker 6: blah blah. Well this like now they're taking Like there's
- 11:27Speaker 6: a Santa Summit movie where all these fake Santas go
- 11:30Speaker 6: and drink beer down in New York and they find
- 11:32Speaker 6: a real Santa. Luke McFarlane's playing Santa's son. There's a
- 11:35Speaker 6: magic pin in one of these movies.
- 11:37Speaker 3: There's a movie Mayist.
- 11:40Speaker 1: He runs it.
- 11:41Speaker 6: He runs a plane a terrier. Yeah, wait a minute, Yeah,
- 11:45Speaker 6: I'm not a fan of these movies. But if it's
- 11:47Speaker 6: gonna be bad, like like take a big swing, Like,
- 11:51Speaker 6: let's let's see how bad we can make it.
- 11:52Speaker 5: You know, yeah.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Are you ready to share your first impressions of I
- 11:56Speaker 3: need to read? Okay, all right, ready, I'm that the
- 12:00Speaker 3: Thanksgiving Day Parade. An eager Thanksgiving parade coordinator is shocked
- 12:04Speaker 3: when a wealthy consultant is hired to analyze its finances.
- 12:08Speaker 3: Faced with teaching him that the parade means so much
- 12:12Speaker 3: more to her than money, she finds herself falling for him.
- 12:15Speaker 4: Don't dunt dum.
- 12:17Speaker 3: And now are you ready to share your first impressions?
- 12:22Speaker 5: Gentlemen, I'm ready. I'm ready to share it.
- 12:24Speaker 3: That's here.
- 12:25Speaker 5: I had never seen this one. It was before my time.
- 12:28Speaker 5: I started getting into of these movies around twenty fifteen,
- 12:30Speaker 5: twenty sixteen, and I loved it. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.
- 12:36Speaker 5: I thought both the leaves were just dynamite. And we've
- 12:39Speaker 5: seen a lot of Autumn racer, She's never been better
- 12:42Speaker 5: than she was in this movie. Just so much fun.
- 12:45Speaker 5: I loved her character and it just worked for me.
- 12:48Speaker 5: Is it a Christmas movie? No? No, but it's it's
- 12:51Speaker 5: good for Thanksgiving and there's not enough of those movies.
- 12:54Speaker 5: It's not enough Thanksgiving movies. Really really liked it. I
- 12:57Speaker 5: would watch this one again in a heart beat, just
- 13:00Speaker 5: so much happy feels. I mean, I think the ending
- 13:04Speaker 5: to like the misunderstanding and the and the ending back
- 13:08Speaker 5: up with him and being like, no, I'm done, I'm
- 13:11Speaker 5: going and got that stuff. It got a little bit
- 13:13Speaker 5: murky there towards the end, but overall really solid, Really liked.
- 13:17Speaker 3: It, Dan.
- 13:18Speaker 6: Yeah, I appreciate the fact ladies that you have put
- 13:21Speaker 6: this in your autumn fall season, right? Have you done that?
- 13:26Speaker 3: So the fall throwback movies that we're watching are all
- 13:31Speaker 3: Listener recommended movies.
- 13:32Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 13:33Speaker 3: And so it's funny because when I opened up the
- 13:35Speaker 3: movie and it's like kind of out of Christmas Eve
- 13:37Speaker 3: yeah post, I was like, oh, but we're in fall,
- 13:40Speaker 3: but I think it's I think.
- 13:42Speaker 6: I was on a podcast called screen Drafts and they
- 13:45Speaker 6: did the drafting of the bet. We drafted the best
- 13:48Speaker 6: Hallmark Christmas Movies of all time. And there was an
- 13:50Speaker 6: argument before we started recording of is this a Christmas movie?
- 13:54Speaker 6: And it was allowed to be played because it aired
- 13:58Speaker 6: during countdown to Christmas?
- 13:59Speaker 5: It's not a Christmas movie.
- 14:01Speaker 6: This movie is directed by my favorite Hallmark director, Ron Oliver.
- 14:06Speaker 6: He's he's great and he's been directing for them for
- 14:09Speaker 6: fifteen years, although isn't directing for them currently. This isn't fine.
- 14:13Speaker 6: This is a fine movie. I don't particularly love it,
- 14:18Speaker 6: and I don't particularly have a disdain for it. I
- 14:20Speaker 6: will say the two leads who we've seen a bunch,
- 14:23Speaker 6: Resar and Kupo, have never been better, nor have they
- 14:26Speaker 6: looked better. They both are super attractive in this movie,
- 14:30Speaker 6: and their chemistry makes up for how offended I was about,
- 14:36Speaker 6: you know, parades in Chicago and pizza and how it
- 14:39Speaker 6: was portrayed in this movie. I think that there's some.
- 14:43Speaker 5: Did you bring your list of research movies from hottest
- 14:47Speaker 5: to ugliest?
- 14:48Speaker 6: I did not, nor did I bring my KOUPOA.
- 14:50Speaker 5: Okay, I know you have those for every actor, for
- 14:53Speaker 5: every actor.
- 14:53Speaker 6: I judge the movie based upon attractiveness, and I think
- 14:56Speaker 6: we all that's the best way to do it. Of course, no,
- 14:59Speaker 6: I like, well, we were talking like Antonio Coupo was
- 15:02Speaker 6: in a movie last week called Guiding Emily and all
- 15:04Speaker 6: of us. You're talking about how how did this dude
- 15:07Speaker 6: get hotter? Like he looked amazing.
- 15:10Speaker 5: He I'm like this guy.
- 15:12Speaker 6: You put a beard on this guy, and all of
- 15:14Speaker 6: a sudden, it was like holy moly, and he in
- 15:18Speaker 6: this movie, I think he's more attractive, but that movie
- 15:21Speaker 6: he like somehow, And so I'm not like, I'm just saying, like,
- 15:24Speaker 6: in this movie, there's something about these two that, oh
- 15:27Speaker 6: my goodness, And so I think, you know, Ron Oliver
- 15:31Speaker 6: is always looking for excuses to put women in vintage
- 15:35Speaker 6: clothing always, and he does so often in this movie.
- 15:40Speaker 6: So yeah, it's fine. I don't get the classic status
- 15:43Speaker 6: that it gets, but I wasn't as offended as I
- 15:46Speaker 6: am by a lot of these movies, So yeah, it's fine.
- 15:49Speaker 3: So I famously hate movies where we start off in
- 15:55Speaker 3: one relationship and they end up in another and they're
- 15:58Speaker 3: like falling in love, still actively in that relationship. And
- 16:03Speaker 3: one of the things that it really bothers me is
- 16:05Speaker 3: when like the Hallmark family friendly crowd comes for us,
- 16:09Speaker 3: why don't you care that they're actively cheating on this
- 16:11Speaker 3: person while they're like having an emotional affair. So that
- 16:15Speaker 3: preface being said, Antonio Coopo is making me turn my
- 16:19Speaker 3: back on everything I believe in relation movies that start
- 16:23Speaker 3: in one relationship it ends in another. He would make
- 16:25Speaker 3: you leave your husband, I mean no, But I rooted
- 16:29Speaker 3: for his relationship and I was not bothered by the
- 16:31Speaker 3: way I.
- 16:32Speaker 5: Want to leave him, but I get it, yeah, ask
- 16:34Speaker 5: him why someone would, But also I want to be fair.
- 16:38Speaker 6: In this movie, she does temporarily break up with dude
- 16:43Speaker 6: before she gets yes, hot and heavy with Coopo. So
- 16:46Speaker 6: there is a little bit more of a distinction here
- 16:49Speaker 6: than like it was always you, where Tyler Hines is
- 16:52Speaker 6: just Tyler Hines and Aaron Craco should know better, right,
- 16:55Speaker 6: that's not what's going on here. Like, she does break
- 16:58Speaker 6: up with him like halfway through the movie, agreed, so,
- 17:01Speaker 6: and then she gets back together with him, and that's
- 17:02Speaker 6: when it gets murky.
- 17:03Speaker 4: I think, all right, what's your first impression one day?
- 17:06Speaker 4: Well for me, and we're gonna get into it a
- 17:07Speaker 4: little bit later. But the math ain't math in in
- 17:09Speaker 4: this movie. And I'm with foreshatowing. I'm with Dan on
- 17:15Speaker 4: a lot of points that you made here, like this
- 17:17Speaker 4: is okay. Yeah, that's what I gotta say.
- 17:19Speaker 3: All right, let's hear some specific things we liked about
- 17:21Speaker 3: this movie. We talked in general, what what were some
- 17:24Speaker 3: moments that you liked.
- 17:25Speaker 6: I think there's a the karaoke scene is really good
- 17:28Speaker 6: in this movie. It is a carry it's weird. It's
- 17:31Speaker 6: weird that the karaoke scene is in a karaoke bar
- 17:35Speaker 6: where they clearly the reaction, yeah, they're gonna we're gonna
- 17:39Speaker 6: have some pushback, which is fantastic, But this is a
- 17:41Speaker 6: karaoke bar where they just start playing a song and
- 17:43Speaker 6: first one to grab the mic wins, I guess is
- 17:45Speaker 6: how that works in this scene which I've never really
- 17:48Speaker 6: been to one of those, but it's it's my literal
- 17:50Speaker 6: nightmare now. But like the fact that they let Hamewark,
- 17:56Speaker 6: just from twenty thirteen to twenty didn't let a Hallmark
- 18:00Speaker 6: leading lady give the singing performance that Autumn Reser gives
- 18:05Speaker 6: in this movie. Is it weird that she gets throw
- 18:08Speaker 6: up drunk off of one sip of champagne? Yes, yes,
- 18:12Speaker 6: yes it is. But this this scene where she's singing
- 18:16Speaker 6: and like making him sing with her and doing this
- 18:18Speaker 6: back and forth and he looks uncomfortable like that is
- 18:21Speaker 6: a scene that you don't get to see in Hallmark
- 18:24Speaker 6: movies that often, and so I did like that scene.
- 18:26Speaker 6: But there they just they're back and forth banters pretty solid.
- 18:29Speaker 6: Clearly we differ here on this though.
- 18:31Speaker 3: Not I loved the back and forth moment. Yes, the robot,
- 18:36Speaker 3: it's the robot in that. Oh yeah, I was like,
- 18:39Speaker 3: I heart watch, but I agree. I love that they
- 18:43Speaker 3: just let her not be perfect in this moment. It's
- 18:46Speaker 3: very my best friend's wedding, Cameron Diaz singing like the
- 18:50Speaker 3: charm is in that she's terrible, So I mostly agree.
- 18:54Speaker 4: I had secondhand embarrassment for her, a lot of that.
- 18:58Speaker 4: But I love the end when she was like putting
- 19:00Speaker 4: the mic in his face and he hated it.
- 19:02Speaker 3: I love that part.
- 19:04Speaker 5: Oh, I love secondhand embarrassment. That scene worked for me.
- 19:08Speaker 5: And I love karaoke. I love bad karaoke. That was
- 19:11Speaker 5: just a bingo a bingo bango for me. I love that.
- 19:14Speaker 5: I just I Also, I just like parades in general.
- 19:19Speaker 5: I love a Thanksgiving Day parade. Maybe we should do
- 19:21Speaker 5: a podcast about it. But the end of this movie
- 19:25Speaker 5: works for like I love, I love a parade. The
- 19:27Speaker 5: fact that we were ending on a parade works. And
- 19:30Speaker 5: Dad Comet is one of my bucket list items being
- 19:34Speaker 5: on the Macy's Things Giving Day Parade. Float like a float,
- 19:37Speaker 5: float on the float. Yeah it is they have they
- 19:43Speaker 5: have in the past. We got to.
- 19:44Speaker 6: Judge our talents parade and announce it and live stream
- 19:49Speaker 6: it last year, and it was the best.
- 19:51Speaker 5: It was one of my favorite things we've ever done.
- 19:53Speaker 6: It was so much fun and we got to like
- 19:55Speaker 6: do be the judges, but also like we were live
- 19:57Speaker 6: streaming the whole thing and be like and next is
- 19:59Speaker 6: up is this? Oh blah blah blah. And we had
- 20:01Speaker 6: the best time with it. It was a lot of fun.
- 20:04Speaker 3: Well, I didn't look I apparently am very like New
- 20:07Speaker 3: York centric and like, what do you mean there's another
- 20:09Speaker 3: Thanksgiving Day parade? Like are they making up this parade?
- 20:12Speaker 3: It fully exists. This is a real.
- 20:16Speaker 6: Yeah, it's a real. I looked it up the first
- 20:17Speaker 6: time I watched it too.
- 20:18Speaker 3: Yeah, And and I also looked up they did originally
- 20:22Speaker 3: start airing it on television in two thousand and seven.
- 20:25Speaker 3: I'm like, that's made up? What two thousand and seven?
- 20:27Speaker 3: But that's the truth to him.
- 20:29Speaker 5: Yeah, look at that. Learning something every day about that.
- 20:32Speaker 5: Where does it does it air on?
- 20:33Speaker 3: WGN GN is correct?
- 20:36Speaker 5: Good job, Thank you, everybody. I told you. I love parades.
- 20:41Speaker 5: I know what channel every parade air zon.
- 20:43Speaker 6: I haven't watched w g in since Sammy Sosi is
- 20:45Speaker 6: in the home Run Chase with uh god, who is it?
- 20:48Speaker 5: What was his name? Is it?
- 20:51Speaker 6: You?
- 20:51Speaker 5: Thank you?
- 20:51Speaker 6: I got a films up from Brian off screen there
- 20:53Speaker 6: that was that's great?
- 20:54Speaker 1: He won?
- 20:55Speaker 5: Did he went on the other guy? The guy hit seventy?
- 20:57Speaker 5: I don't remember what in commons, just leave the name.
- 21:01Speaker 5: Who beat Sammy?
- 21:02Speaker 6: So somebody did?
- 21:03Speaker 5: Someone did, Wendy.
- 21:05Speaker 3: Would you like about this movie?
- 21:07Speaker 6: No, that's not it.
- 21:09Speaker 3: I love the people are screaming, screaming at their phones
- 21:13Speaker 3: right now, sweating, guys. What did I like about this movie?
- 21:20Speaker 5: Oh?
- 21:20Speaker 4: I liked that it felt old timey, but it like
- 21:22Speaker 4: took place in current day. Yeah, Like I don't Maybe
- 21:25Speaker 4: it's the way that like Ron Oliver shot it.
- 21:28Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 21:29Speaker 4: I mean obviously the costume you mean, but something made
- 21:33Speaker 4: it like gave it like this vintage feel to me
- 21:36Speaker 4: where when I started it, I was like, what what
- 21:39Speaker 4: days is taking place in? I also think they might
- 21:41Speaker 4: be using like the same blow up turkey since the
- 21:45Speaker 4: start of the parade, Like that turkey looks real vintage.
- 21:48Speaker 3: Didn't I think I think that helps. I loved Baby
- 21:53Speaker 3: on a Riser in this movie, and I think they
- 21:56Speaker 3: leaned a little too hard, like into her being like
- 21:59Speaker 3: super rigid about the parade, especially because Henry got to
- 22:02Speaker 3: be like laid that cool guy, right, yeah.
- 22:04Speaker 6: Classic.
- 22:05Speaker 3: Mostly I thought she was delightful, like just her joy
- 22:08Speaker 3: for the parade and the way she really leans into
- 22:12Speaker 3: the way she lives her life. And there's a cute
- 22:14Speaker 3: moment where she like slides across the room in her
- 22:16Speaker 3: desk chair. I always have liked Autumn Racer, but I
- 22:19Speaker 3: think she was super charming.
- 22:21Speaker 4: She reminded me a lot of her character on the
- 22:23Speaker 4: OC show that I know you didn't watch, no, but
- 22:26Speaker 4: it's kind of I guess this is twenty twelve. I
- 22:28Speaker 4: don't remember when that show ended, but she was like
- 22:31Speaker 4: kind of uptight on that show too.
- 22:34Speaker 6: Do you say that that Autumn Racer has been like
- 22:39Speaker 6: over the last decade that she's been in these movies,
- 22:41Speaker 6: I feel like she's just they've restrained her, like if
- 22:45Speaker 6: you know, she can give that performance and be that
- 22:47Speaker 6: out of the box and quirky and weird and different
- 22:49Speaker 6: and charming, and she's always charming in her movies, But
- 22:52Speaker 6: I feel like her movies since then have become more
- 22:56Speaker 6: and more restrained and in the box. And I don't
- 22:59Speaker 6: know why that is, but it happens with actors occasionally,
- 23:02Speaker 6: like even Polah, Like early in like early in Palawa's
- 23:06Speaker 6: days on the network, he's like doing accents and voices
- 23:09Speaker 6: and then they've just slowly made him just kind of
- 23:11Speaker 6: play the same role. And then he told me in
- 23:14Speaker 6: this new and he's doing a voice which is going
- 23:15Speaker 6: to be a lot of fun the Biltmore one. But
- 23:17Speaker 6: I feel like some of that was like what Hallmark
- 23:19Speaker 6: was doing during the time period, because I feel like
- 23:23Speaker 6: this is a different Autumn Racer than we get the
- 23:25Speaker 6: rest of it. And she's fine, but she's never like
- 23:28Speaker 6: this again.
- 23:29Speaker 3: Yeah, it's almost like Hallmark's like, look, we've got Ashley Williams.
- 23:32Speaker 3: That's all the quirky hands off everyone else just like
- 23:35Speaker 3: get in.
- 23:35Speaker 6: Your box, right, that's right.
- 23:37Speaker 3: Yeah, And I love Ashley Williams. That's not a knock.
- 23:39Speaker 5: That's wonderful. She's wonderful. Yeah.
- 23:42Speaker 3: I also love the line really quickly when she's arguing
- 23:45Speaker 3: with the whale guy and she's mad that he's not
- 23:48Speaker 3: proposing and he says, you're being unreasonable and she says, no,
- 23:51Speaker 3: I'm being honest. And I thought that was a home
- 23:54Speaker 3: run moment for me.
- 23:56Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:57Speaker 7: Why because because she put wished back on his like,
- 24:02Speaker 7: she didn't just let him tell her how she was feeling,
- 24:04Speaker 7: which is kind of unusual for twenty twelve.
- 24:07Speaker 3: I'm surprised. I think a lot of this movie stands
- 24:10Speaker 3: out actually as a twenty twelve Hallmark movie.
- 24:13Speaker 5: Got it?
- 24:13Speaker 6: Oh?
- 24:13Speaker 5: Yeah, I would agree.
- 24:14Speaker 3: That's like I think it's a little racier. Oh my gosh,
- 24:18Speaker 3: I have a note about that. I have a note
- 24:20Speaker 3: about that. The assistant, the assistant, the assistant. Yeah, party
- 24:26Speaker 3: like leaning suggestively on the desk. I thought, WHOA keep
- 24:29Speaker 3: your cloth done?
- 24:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm apprude. I hated that. I'm like giveing my
- 24:32Speaker 5: twenty thirteen Hallmark. This is too much.
- 24:36Speaker 6: If everyone could act like I think we ever shared
- 24:39Speaker 6: a room with someone, that'd be great.
- 24:40Speaker 3: Yeah, all right? Did we? Did we wish for things
- 24:44Speaker 3: as we were watching this movie? Would we wish for?
- 24:46Speaker 3: Would we want?
- 24:48Speaker 6: I wish for an accurate depiction of Chicago pizza? This
- 24:52Speaker 6: is an abomination that we see on screen. Did Chicagoans
- 24:57Speaker 6: across the country should be mortified that this is the
- 25:01Speaker 6: pizza that someone chose to represent what Chicago Deep Dish
- 25:04Speaker 6: pizza looks like. I'm from South Carolina. I'm not from Chicago,
- 25:08Speaker 6: but I've been. They do tavern pizza, which is like
- 25:10Speaker 6: topping cheese on top toppings underneath thin crust, and they
- 25:13Speaker 6: do deep dish and they're both phenomenal. And this was neither.
- 25:17Speaker 6: This was someone threw up in a pie crust and
- 25:20Speaker 6: it was not It was not not good. It wasn't pizza,
- 25:25Speaker 6: and it wasn't Chicago, and it just it was real bad.
- 25:28Speaker 6: It was real bad, and I hated it for everyone involved.
- 25:31Speaker 3: I appreciate that perspective because I don't know anything about
- 25:34Speaker 3: Chicago style pizza except except one time. I'm dairy free,
- 25:38Speaker 3: which is a super boring fact about me and it's
- 25:40Speaker 3: highly annoying to go out to dinner with me. But
- 25:42Speaker 3: we were at a Chicago style pizza place for a
- 25:44Speaker 3: party and I tried to order a pizza without cheese
- 25:46Speaker 3: and they refused to make it because it wouldn't taste right.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Wow.
- 25:51Speaker 3: Wow, I was like, Chicago is aware that it's not
- 25:55Speaker 3: as good without the cheese. I don't think I'm doing
- 25:57Speaker 3: something here. Brand. What'd you wish for?
- 25:59Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I'm seeing COOPO in a Santa costume
- 26:05Speaker 5: made me wish for a Hallmark Hank's calendar, not in
- 26:09Speaker 5: a weird not a weird one. Not listen, keep your
- 26:12Speaker 5: clothes on, just in various garbs that work throughout the year.
- 26:18Speaker 5: So like so Octo, firems, so like October. I like
- 26:24Speaker 5: basically all of the notes of autumn wardrobe, just like
- 26:29Speaker 5: all of it. And I think that would make me happy,
- 26:32Speaker 5: just various, you know, Thanksgiving, maybe put Palaja like in
- 26:37Speaker 5: a turkey. I don't know. I'm just I'm spitballing. I'm
- 26:39Speaker 5: just I'm just spitballing. But that is something that I
- 26:42Speaker 5: thought of while I watched this, and now I'm sharing
- 26:45Speaker 5: it and wishing that I.
- 26:46Speaker 3: Didn't well, but I am in my mind, my brain
- 26:49Speaker 3: is turning, and I'm just saying I need multiple December
- 26:51Speaker 3: options because if we don't get John Brotherton in his
- 26:53Speaker 3: sexy Santa costume from last year's Lights Camera Christmas, I'm
- 26:57Speaker 3: gonna riot.
- 26:57Speaker 5: So yeah, that's actually that's God. Listen to me rave
- 27:00Speaker 5: about him last year. My gosh, stock in John, you
- 27:05Speaker 5: did you bought low? I thought, really low? Well, what great.
- 27:09Speaker 3: Wendy would you wish for?
- 27:10Speaker 1: Well?
- 27:11Speaker 4: You mentioned this earlier. Emily's so uptight, and Henry is
- 27:15Speaker 4: warm and charming and Okay, we get it. Women are
- 27:17Speaker 4: terrible and men saved the day.
- 27:20Speaker 6: Yeah, of course, so over it. Sorry, but in twenty twelve,
- 27:24Speaker 6: that was a new idea. No one had ever done
- 27:26Speaker 6: it before. Sorry.
- 27:28Speaker 5: Sorry, I tried. I tried.
- 27:30Speaker 3: I tried to women had anybody?
- 27:31Speaker 6: I know?
- 27:33Speaker 5: Stone Ages, good old days?
- 27:35Speaker 3: Are you ready to talk? Did you see that? I
- 27:37Speaker 3: am all right. Let's hear from you guys first before
- 27:39Speaker 3: I dominate this conversation.
- 27:41Speaker 6: Damn well, you know you go? Okay, it's so weird.
- 27:44Speaker 6: Did I get to do this before you? I never
- 27:46Speaker 6: get to do this before you. You know where a
- 27:48Speaker 6: great place to go in November in Chicago when you're
- 27:52Speaker 6: throwing up drunk is It's on the top of a
- 27:55Speaker 6: skyscraper outside Listen, you know, when you've had too much
- 27:59Speaker 6: to drink and your stomach is sick, go somewhere really high.
- 28:03Speaker 5: It's a balmy where the no fimber in Chicago through
- 28:07Speaker 5: you like negative ten wind chill up there probably and
- 28:11Speaker 5: they sleep up there, like the same thing.
- 28:14Speaker 4: Isn't it cold California?
- 28:17Speaker 3: I'm like, isn't it cold in Chicago?
- 28:19Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 28:20Speaker 6: It's it's literally called the Windy City.
- 28:24Speaker 1: I don't I.
- 28:25Speaker 6: Don't it's three days before parade, that your your stomach
- 28:29Speaker 6: is queasy from drinking. Let's take you to absurd heights
- 28:33Speaker 6: with freezing temperatures and let's just wait it out.
- 28:37Speaker 5: That was That was tough. That was a tough one
- 28:39Speaker 5: for me.
- 28:41Speaker 6: This guy's going to a well. The idea that any
- 28:44Speaker 6: place has four Michelin stars is one of the dumbest
- 28:46Speaker 6: things I've ever heard. And I have to assume that
- 28:48Speaker 6: that was in there on purpose, because that doesn't exist.
- 28:51Speaker 6: But the only thing that was like a did you
- 28:53Speaker 6: see that? For me? Aside from that was Antonio he
- 28:57Speaker 6: uh autumn research character gets proposed to at this restaurant,
- 29:02Speaker 6: or doesn't get proposed to. She thinks she's being proposed to,
- 29:05Speaker 6: and then he doesn't propose, and she is like, how
- 29:08Speaker 6: dare you? I'm not going on this boat with you?
- 29:10Speaker 6: And she storms out. And when she storms out, who
- 29:13Speaker 6: is outside the restaurant? But Antonio Koupo in a limousine?
- 29:18Speaker 6: Now is he stalking her? Probably probably stalking her. And
- 29:24Speaker 6: his excuse for being there is is, hey, I just
- 29:27Speaker 6: ordered me a little takeout.
- 29:28Speaker 5: That's it.
- 29:29Speaker 6: You know how when you order takeout and you're rich
- 29:31Speaker 6: enough to have a limousine. You ride with your limos
- 29:34Speaker 6: down to go get that takeout. You know how it
- 29:36Speaker 6: goes like, Hey, I know you're going to get that
- 29:38Speaker 6: take out for me, but I just want a limo ride.
- 29:40Speaker 6: Can use her? You could take me down the street.
- 29:42Speaker 6: He's totally stalking her. And that was that was the
- 29:45Speaker 6: big one for me. Yeah, that's fair.
- 29:48Speaker 5: I only had a couple that stuck out to me
- 29:50Speaker 5: one right away. And I think I've never owned a cat. Well,
- 29:54Speaker 5: I have when I was a kid, but I didn't
- 29:55Speaker 5: buy the food for the cat. That was my parents.
- 29:58Speaker 5: I do have don so. I do have dogs though,
- 30:03Speaker 5: and anytime I'm like switching dog food for one reason
- 30:08Speaker 5: or another, it's a process like I gotta get I
- 30:10Speaker 5: gotta have some leftover of the old one, get the
- 30:13Speaker 5: new one, do like a seventy five fifty and then
- 30:16Speaker 5: eventually you switch them over. Can with cats? Can you
- 30:20Speaker 5: just go willy nilly from one food to the next
- 30:24Speaker 5: and you just can you do that? Just what buy what? Cats?
- 30:27Speaker 6: Can't there there? I think they their constitution they can
- 30:30Speaker 6: just eat whatever.
- 30:31Speaker 5: I think. So I think so either if you have cats,
- 30:34Speaker 5: can you attest to that cat? It just doesn't seem
- 30:37Speaker 5: you're right, say cat wants to make is a.
- 30:40Speaker 3: Cat with gastrointestinal distress.
- 30:42Speaker 5: Sure don't, Yeah, you sure don't. That's not what I
- 30:45Speaker 5: want at all. The only other thing I had was
- 30:49Speaker 5: just I think I cannot believe this whale guy's dating
- 30:52Speaker 5: on a rasearch. It was just such a hooopo over
- 30:56Speaker 5: there in lest millions of dollars, Yeah, in millions in
- 31:00Speaker 5: Whales Star, like where's whale guy and then there's Koupo.
- 31:03Speaker 5: I don't know if there's ever been a bigger biggers
- 31:07Speaker 5: between the love interests in a movie. Wild a wild
- 31:12Speaker 5: turn of events there.
- 31:13Speaker 3: Yeah, he's not handsome and he's not nice.
- 31:18Speaker 5: Such a bosy and he's in the Whales. Whale Guy
- 31:21Speaker 5: he's a whale guy only takes video calls down by
- 31:25Speaker 5: the harbor, like this is where he takes a whale guy.
- 31:29Speaker 6: That is what he is.
- 31:31Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, Wendy, Okay, I have a view. When
- 31:36Speaker 4: Autumn Reser is shopping for she's at the grocery store.
- 31:39Speaker 4: She's looking at the freezer case. It's all party sized
- 31:42Speaker 4: types of ice cream. There's one lonely box of Amy's
- 31:47Speaker 4: frozen burritos, and.
- 31:48Speaker 5: This breezer slap.
- 31:51Speaker 3: They're delicious, but I was like, is that product please?
- 31:54Speaker 6: That would be so.
- 31:56Speaker 3: Okay. But also on that case, it says Rocky Road
- 32:00Speaker 3: in a big sign, and the ice cream she pulls
- 32:02Speaker 3: out is very clearly vanilla based. That's not Rocky Road.
- 32:05Speaker 6: I come on, yeah, be better know your ice cream
- 32:08Speaker 6: for sure, know your ice cream well. But that Amy's
- 32:10Speaker 6: amis makes a lot of dairy free stuff, so like
- 32:13Speaker 6: maybe that was maybe that was for you.
- 32:15Speaker 5: They were just reminding you.
- 32:16Speaker 3: Well.
- 32:16Speaker 4: In that same scene too, when they're checking out and
- 32:19Speaker 4: Atonio Kupo is buying ice cream as well, you can
- 32:23Speaker 4: see his bag. He also has a pineapple And what
- 32:25Speaker 4: is the dude doing with pineapple and ice.
- 32:27Speaker 3: Cream in a hotel?
- 32:29Speaker 4: I don't understand how that works.
- 32:31Speaker 3: His chauffeur is going to cut it.
- 32:32Speaker 6: We don't U, we don't, we don't kink. Shame on
- 32:34Speaker 6: deck the home. OK, maybe you guys run a different podcast.
- 32:39Speaker 5: We'll tell it. We'll tell you guys about later.
- 32:41Speaker 6: Yeah, two gallons of ice cream and a pineapple.
- 32:45Speaker 5: See, it's a different kind of calendar and distress goodness.
- 32:52Speaker 3: Same scene, she buys three party sized tubs of ice
- 32:54Speaker 3: cream and nine billion cans of cat food and leaves
- 32:57Speaker 3: with two grocery bags. Where is it all? She's like,
- 33:00Speaker 3: I'm like, it's not in there. I don't know why
- 33:02Speaker 3: it's heavy because there's nothing in those bags.
- 33:04Speaker 5: Okay, no way, No, that was a big one.
- 33:06Speaker 3: Was cheesecake factory coming in hot with the product? Yes,
- 33:10Speaker 3: but when's the cheesecake? They all reach in with their hair,
- 33:17Speaker 3: their bare hands. Disgusting.
- 33:21Speaker 6: And she also did she did spring forgetting them that
- 33:24Speaker 6: classic Chicago cheesecake from the local establishment, the cheesecake Factory,
- 33:28Speaker 6: which nothing shows off Chicago like the California based cheesecake facts.
- 33:34Speaker 6: Just grab it with your hands, get it, end of
- 33:35Speaker 6: your gango. Disgusting.
- 33:39Speaker 3: Look, Whenny and I have teenage children, do you want
- 33:42Speaker 3: to know what you don't want is a kiss cam
- 33:44Speaker 3: at a high school sports gaping of suspension? No, no, no.
- 33:52Speaker 5: It was a different time.
- 33:53Speaker 6: Twenty twelve is a different touch. Men were saving women.
- 33:56Speaker 6: It was crazy out there.
- 33:57Speaker 3: People could sexually harass their classmates at any moment. Look,
- 34:01Speaker 3: my husband watched this movie with us, and he's probably
- 34:05Speaker 3: a bigger Hallmark fan than any of us in this room,
- 34:07Speaker 3: and is in the moment in the parade. When Antonio
- 34:11Speaker 3: and Autumn share their kiss, he pulls his beard down
- 34:14Speaker 3: and my husband his gem from the movie. I'm gonna
- 34:16Speaker 3: bleep this, but is don't take your beard off during
- 34:19Speaker 3: the parade. Santa can not expose. I don't know, all
- 34:24Speaker 3: the children would see. He left the room, and as
- 34:28Speaker 3: Antonio was like, I'm so in lovely with you, he shouts, no,
- 34:31Speaker 3: you're not.
- 34:32Speaker 5: I'll take that there man off. That's that is. It's
- 34:36Speaker 5: a big no no.
- 34:37Speaker 4: Okay, here's my biggest problem with this entire movie. So
- 34:42Speaker 4: Emily wears vintage clothing because it's to memorialize her mother's dad. Right, okay,
- 34:49Speaker 4: but did her mom die in the fifties. I don't
- 34:51Speaker 4: understand how this is working. She researers like in her
- 34:57Speaker 4: maybe early forties okay, maybe third Okay, she.
- 35:01Speaker 6: Was probably born in the eighties.
- 35:02Speaker 5: Let's say in this movie, so would the mom be.
- 35:05Speaker 3: Like in mom jeans, like not in a pillbox hat.
- 35:08Speaker 3: I don't get it. Yeah, And I went back to
- 35:10Speaker 3: rewatch that scene and they make no mention of like
- 35:12Speaker 3: my mom loved vintage clothes, just my dad gave all
- 35:14Speaker 3: her stuff away.
- 35:15Speaker 6: So yeah, my brand had a great thought here and
- 35:19Speaker 6: it wasn't true, but the movie would have been better
- 35:21Speaker 6: if the Ali Liebert character, who we've not mentioned yet,
- 35:23Speaker 6: and she's Ali Libert as a sidekick in these movies
- 35:26Speaker 6: is pure gold every time.
- 35:28Speaker 5: What did you say? It would have had?
- 35:30Speaker 6: What vantage stuff?
- 35:31Speaker 5: Yah? What? For no reason? What if Ali Libert is
- 35:33Speaker 5: actually a ghost and it's her mom? Oh like she seeings?
- 35:39Speaker 2: Yea.
- 35:39Speaker 5: I will say about one seventy five movies, I assume
- 35:43Speaker 5: someone's a ghost and very rarely does it work out,
- 35:47Speaker 5: but occasionally it does.
- 35:48Speaker 3: Tell me, you've seen the Jen Lily Spirit of Christmas?
- 35:51Speaker 6: Oh, we reviewed it? Yeah? A true classic is something
- 35:57Speaker 6: that's a that's one of the best horror movies I've
- 35:59Speaker 6: I think seen.
- 36:00Speaker 3: Wendy's never seen it. I tell her that she needs
- 36:03Speaker 3: to add that to the top of her list.
- 36:05Speaker 5: Oh yeah, as I hate watch.
- 36:07Speaker 3: It's it's just something real special. You just have to
- 36:10Speaker 3: watch it.
- 36:12Speaker 6: It's an experience, it's an event.
- 36:13Speaker 5: Yeah, all right?
- 36:14Speaker 3: What are we giving this movie out of five stars?
- 36:16Speaker 6: I've not done this before? And is this out of
- 36:19Speaker 6: five stars like for a movie making quality? Would watch again?
- 36:22Speaker 6: Or is this relative to other Hallmark movies.
- 36:25Speaker 3: To the best Hallmark movie you've ever seen? Is five star?
- 36:28Speaker 5: Is a five? Okay?
- 36:30Speaker 6: Three three stars?
- 36:31Speaker 3: Okay?
- 36:32Speaker 6: Yeah, three out of five? Just over halfway?
- 36:34Speaker 5: Proud of you. Yeah that's halfway. It's not five. I'm
- 36:37Speaker 5: gonna go four. I'm gonna go four. I really really
- 36:40Speaker 5: like this one.
- 36:41Speaker 3: I'm a three and a half, three point seventy five.
- 36:44Speaker 6: It's like, wow, three and three quarters, putting round it up.
- 36:51Speaker 5: I like that.
- 36:52Speaker 3: All right. We have a quick segment to close out
- 36:55Speaker 3: this episode with our guests, and this isn't the first
- 36:58Speaker 3: guest episode of this season that's gonna air, but it's
- 37:00Speaker 3: the first one we're recording. So get ready. This is
- 37:02Speaker 3: called Gone Hallmark. It's a quick series of rapid fire questions.
- 37:05Speaker 3: Most of them are have a rapid fire she was
- 37:07Speaker 3: one or the other? And then we're gonna put you
- 37:09Speaker 3: on the spot at the end. Are you ready?
- 37:12Speaker 5: I'm running.
- 37:14Speaker 3: Bad boy or Boy next door?
- 37:17Speaker 5: Boy next door? Why next door? Next?
- 37:22Speaker 6: Raccoons are next door and they're boy next door, next door?
- 37:26Speaker 6: Why next door? I will go with boy next doores
- 37:30Speaker 6: if you know this, most bad boys and movies, they
- 37:32Speaker 6: commit crimes. I don't know. At some point, like you
- 37:35Speaker 6: just want something legal, box, I can't say it. I'm
- 37:44Speaker 6: gonna go with the I.
- 37:45Speaker 5: Gonna be honest. This is like really great for me
- 37:48Speaker 5: because this is usually flips, So this.
- 37:50Speaker 6: Is really this is one of your episodes and one
- 37:52Speaker 6: of you couldn't say, Brad cravoy, you were just like
- 37:54Speaker 6: Brad k R E v O.
- 37:57Speaker 3: Y always the way home or ride.
- 38:01Speaker 6: Oh the way home? How dare you that's even worth
- 38:04Speaker 6: a question?
- 38:05Speaker 3: Poor McMurray family. How about fake fake dating or enemy
- 38:09Speaker 3: still lovers?
- 38:11Speaker 6: Yeah, fake relationship for sure?
- 38:13Speaker 3: All right, coming in hot another wedding veil trilogy? Yay
- 38:16Speaker 3: or nay no no.
- 38:19Speaker 5: No, no, no no, Literally we know we're getting it.
- 38:22Speaker 5: It's it's coming. It just does too well for them
- 38:25Speaker 5: not to keep going until we All the time they're like.
- 38:27Speaker 6: Kevin, could you go hard in the accents?
- 38:30Speaker 3: Ridiculous the bit though where Lazy calls them on it
- 38:32Speaker 3: is really the best thing the homework's ever done. Okay, Yeah,
- 38:35Speaker 3: digital snow or foae leaves.
- 38:37Speaker 6: I think when Digital Snow is done, ride it's better.
- 38:39Speaker 6: You're gonna go with the leaves.
- 38:40Speaker 5: No, I would agree with that. I would agree that
- 38:43Speaker 5: the you can't there. I've seen a lot of good,
- 38:45Speaker 5: good fake snow, and snow always works for me more
- 38:48Speaker 5: than leaves.
- 38:49Speaker 3: Let's go mysteries Hannah s Winson or Curious Caterer.
- 38:53Speaker 5: Curious Caterer. What's Curious Caterer?
- 38:55Speaker 6: It's oh yeah, the new one. Yeah, yeah, Curious cater
- 38:58Speaker 6: for sure. Yeah. Yeah. We've not seen all the Hannis Winson's.
- 39:01Speaker 6: We've only seen two of them. And I wasn't crazy
- 39:03Speaker 6: about either one.
- 39:04Speaker 3: Mystery one on one gone too soon or.
- 39:06Speaker 5: It was time gone too soon.
- 39:08Speaker 6: This is tough because the cliffhanger would make you lend,
- 39:12Speaker 6: like lend itself to the fact that it has gone
- 39:14Speaker 6: too soon because they didn't answer that question. And on
- 39:16Speaker 6: that front, I agree, But I would say that no
- 39:19Speaker 6: mystery series did a better job of being a mystery
- 39:23Speaker 6: series than that movie. And they were in love before
- 39:26Speaker 6: that cliffhanger, So without the cliffhanger, I would say great
- 39:30Speaker 6: ending point.
- 39:30Speaker 3: I was really worried because you know, those mystery one
- 39:32Speaker 3: on one fans are crazy. They're gonna come for you.
- 39:34Speaker 3: So that's a good answer.
- 39:35Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, all right.
- 39:37Speaker 3: In a movie, cute kids are cute dogs.
- 39:39Speaker 6: Cute dogs cute dogs, and here's why. And I have
- 39:42Speaker 6: seven year old boys that are the most adorable. They're
- 39:45Speaker 6: they're my pride and enjoy my treasure. But they don't
- 39:47Speaker 6: have to act. And the thing about kid actors is
- 39:49Speaker 6: you can't make fun of them, and you also can't
- 39:53Speaker 6: praise them unless you want to lie. And so I
- 39:55Speaker 6: like I I the dogs are. They're right. I'm here
- 40:01Speaker 6: for the man. The dogs are wonderful. Occasionally you'll get
- 40:04Speaker 6: a great kid actor. Is it does a good job.
- 40:08Speaker 6: The kid whose baby Jack and Winn calls the heart
- 40:11Speaker 6: is fun. By and large, it's tougher for.
- 40:14Speaker 5: Me, Bye bye. By and large, I say dogs. But
- 40:18Speaker 5: a really great kid performance can steal the show, and
- 40:22Speaker 5: in a way that like dogs can't, even though dogs
- 40:24Speaker 5: do steal a lot of shows. Who went in a
- 40:26Speaker 5: good way?
- 40:26Speaker 3: A notorious kid hater, all the kids and all these movies. Sorry,
- 40:30Speaker 3: in a movie Christmas tree lighting or cookie decorating Christmas
- 40:34Speaker 3: tree lighting. And finally, we're gonna put you on the spot.
- 40:36Speaker 3: Name a supporting Hallmark actor or actress who deserves a
- 40:39Speaker 3: leading role.
- 40:40Speaker 6: Oh this is easy because we've alread talked about it
- 40:42Speaker 6: one hundred times.
- 40:42Speaker 5: Matty Finocchio, Yeah, everything mad mad made Listen, Matt Maddie.
- 40:50Speaker 5: If it wasn't.
- 40:51Speaker 6: If the strike wasn't happening, Matty Finocchio would have already
- 40:53Speaker 6: been on our podcast because we would not stop till
- 40:56Speaker 6: we get him on the show This guy in Love
- 40:58Speaker 6: Heart on Netflix. He's hysterical, his his range is unbelievable,
- 41:02Speaker 6: and he deserves to be a lead in one of
- 41:05Speaker 6: these movies. He's great, He's just fantastic. He was really
- 41:08Speaker 6: good in that movie where they make that the Clay
- 41:10Speaker 6: Dude comes to life. Yeah, what's the name of that movie?
- 41:13Speaker 5: Real life? We watched it.
- 41:14Speaker 6: Made for each other?
- 41:17Speaker 5: Something for each other? That sounds right, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 41:20Speaker 5: Finocchio is the number one answer on the board, A hundred.
- 41:22Speaker 3: For us to we fell in love with Mattie Pinocchio.
- 41:25Speaker 3: We worked with up TV years ago. We did a
- 41:28Speaker 3: live pre show for their show Date My Dad, which
- 41:31Speaker 3: nobody knows existed, and Mattie Pinocchio had a long running
- 41:34Speaker 3: role in that show. And when he started showing up
- 41:36Speaker 3: in our Hallmark movies, we're like, give this man a lead.
- 41:39Speaker 3: He probably thinks we're stalking him. Goause to talk about
- 41:41Speaker 3: it so much, but we just want that we'd love him. Well,
