- 0:01The ability to concentrate the Mind allows us to function in
- 0:05the world in a coherent Manner and to create results in
- 0:10whatever field, the concentration takes up without
- 0:14concentration. The mind would jump from one
- 0:17perception. One impression, one idea to
- 0:20another randomly and instantaneously as new impulses
- 0:25arise. Everyone has had the experience
- 0:29of concentration, whether it be taking a test in school or
- 0:34trying to excel at some skill or sport were in taking up the
- 0:38study of Music art, or even reading a book and being
- 0:43absorbed in it. Sometimes we Face a situation
- 0:48where we need to work through a series of steps or options and a
- 0:52period of time elapses, as we systematically try to sort out
- 0:56those choices and make the right decision.
- 1:00We can also experience concentration and playing games
- 1:04with the strategic game of chess, being one of the
- 1:07long-standing fame and worldwide, Acclaim.
- 1:11As one of the ultimate games that promote the ability of the
- 1:14mind to focus concentrate and exclude extraneous factors to
- 1:20achieve the result of checkmate, Of course, there are many forms
- 1:25of concentration. That relate to specific ideas.
- 1:29Thoughts, emotions plans, feelings were physical
- 1:34situations. More difficult for most people,
- 1:39is a form of concentration that does not latch onto an external
- 1:43object and yet is not a dispersed or fragmented state of
- 1:48consciousness. Once the mind has been
- 1:51habituated to the practice of concentration, such as following
- 1:56a specific thought or idea through along its path, it
- 2:01becomes necessary for the secret of shift, the concentration in
- 2:04words, the practices of Raja yoga developed this into a
- 2:09science. Control of the breath following
- 2:14and focusing on the breath. Can become a first step in the
- 2:17process of detaching, the concentration from an outer
- 2:21form. As the Mind moves to Stillness
- 2:26concentration can be centered in a location such as between the
- 2:29eyebrows or in the heart, or above the head without specific
- 2:36content, other than the sense of the location of the
- 2:40concentration. Another option is to use a
- 2:44mantra or Java to drive out all other random thoughts and then
- 2:50let the Consciousness Focus. So intensely that it no longer
- 2:54needs the Java to remain concentrated.
- 2:58Others focus on an external light such as a candle flame,
- 3:03until awareness of the flame itself disappears.
- 3:08SRI aurobindo recounted a method, he utilized to obtain
- 3:12silence in the mind. He observed, the thoughts coming
- 3:16in and rejected them before they could take hold.
- 3:20After some time he was able to obtain the concentrated status
- 3:26of the silent mind. SRI aurobindo writes, quote.
- 3:32The mind is the thing that dwells in diffusion in
- 3:35succession, it can only concentrate on one thing at a
- 3:39time. And when not concentrated runs
- 3:42from one thing to another very much at random, therefore, it
- 3:47has to concentrate on a single idea.
- 3:50A single subject of meditation, a single object of
- 3:54contemplation, a single object of will. in order to possess or
- 4:00Master it, And this, it must do at least.
- 4:05The temporary exclusion of all things.
- 4:08The first step in concentration, must be always to accustom.
- 4:12The discursive mind to a settled unwavering pursuit of a single
- 4:17course of connected thought on a single subject.
- 4:22And this it must do undistracted, by all lures and
- 4:26alien calls on its attention. Such concentration is common
- 4:31enough in our ordinary life. But it becomes more difficult
- 4:36when we have to do it inwardly without any outward object or
- 4:41action on which to keep the mind.
- 4:44Yet, this inward concentration is what the Seeker of knowledge
- 4:48must affect in, quote, reference SRI, aurobindo, and the mother
- 4:56growing within the psychology of inner development.
