Five Adults Lose Lives Saving Swimmer | Columbus News
Five adults drowned while trying to rescue a swimmer in the Scioto River in Delaware County, leaving a community in shock and mourning. The victims — Marina Regalado Miranda, Jose Pineda Diaz, Carmen Ferrera Lara, Miguel Guerra Ruiz, and 18-year-old Jonathan Vargas — were all Columbus residents enjoying a fishing trip when the incident unfolded. Two children were on shore and unharmed. Emergency crews rescued two people that night, but the others didn’t survive.
