- 0:02Speaker 1: This is Teddy Teapot with cabinet. Okay, so this week's
- 0:12Speaker 1: episode is a real doozy. Not only do I get
- 0:16Speaker 1: to talk with some of my favorite people and TV aficionados,
- 0:21Speaker 1: we get to talk about one of my favorite things,
- 0:24Speaker 1: which shows. We are binging. What do we need to
- 0:28Speaker 1: be watching right now? I know we're all on a
- 0:30Speaker 1: break and we have the time, So what do we
- 0:34Speaker 1: need to dig into? I know I have my personal faves.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Plus sometimes I fancy myself an investigator and I love
- 0:41Speaker 1: to figure out the ending before the ending. So we've
- 0:45Speaker 1: got justin sevestaurant can Margarita drinking talking about binge, watching
- 0:52Speaker 1: television shows. He's having a day, he's having a moment.
- 0:56Speaker 1: That being said, he is one of my favorite people,
- 0:59Speaker 1: and I love because of the fact that you have
- 1:01Speaker 1: a moment. You're funny. I love your opinions on everything.
- 1:06Speaker 1: You are super talented, and I know you've got the
- 1:09Speaker 1: goods on what we need to tell these these tea
- 1:12Speaker 1: potters watch binge watch right now? Oh, there's only a
- 1:16Speaker 1: few things that you need to watch. Okay, okay, okay,
- 1:20Speaker 1: there's only a few think you need to watch besides
- 1:22Speaker 1: me drinking Margarita at twelve o'clock in the afternoon at work. Okay, Um,
- 1:29Speaker 1: Shanna Rhymes is coming out with her first hit since
- 1:32Speaker 1: leaving ABC. It's called Britain. It's a period piece that's
- 1:38Speaker 1: set in London um in the eighteen hundreds and it's
- 1:42Speaker 1: basically page six but from the beginning it's about gossip,
- 1:47Speaker 1: it's about sex, it's about scandals, and it all happens
- 1:50Speaker 1: in the times of Marie Antoinette. When does this come out?
- 1:55Speaker 1: Do we know? Comes on Christmas? Girl? What this dys perfect?
- 2:00Speaker 1: This comes out on Christmas? Like you cannot miss it? Okay,
- 2:05Speaker 1: so that is perfect? And then but what else I've
- 2:09Speaker 1: already watched? Okay, so I've watched The Undoing, I've watched
- 2:12Speaker 1: The Queen's Gambit, I've watched what's that other tiny little
- 2:18Speaker 1: pretties or what is that? Oh? Um, I know what
- 2:21Speaker 1: you're talking about. I know exactly what you're talking about.
- 2:24Speaker 1: But have you seen I'm gonna give you one. Have
- 2:26Speaker 1: you seen Murder on Middle Beach? Oh? Yes, yes, of
- 2:30Speaker 1: course saw it. Okay, Wait, what did you think about it?
- 2:33Speaker 1: I thought I am obsessed. I needed to understand how
- 2:37Speaker 1: these women are about these gifting tables, like they're so justified.
- 2:42Speaker 1: They're like what, people are really into them? People are
- 2:46Speaker 1: really into them. Do you remember when we were younger
- 2:49Speaker 1: and you would like get a note in the mail
- 2:52Speaker 1: from like a friend and it'd be like one dollar
- 2:56Speaker 1: just so and so with like a book record. What
- 2:59Speaker 1: were we doing? Exactly what everybody was doing in this
- 3:02Speaker 1: thing listening to somebody that they knew, Like it's it's
- 3:06Speaker 1: just the craziest thing I have ever heard in my life.
- 3:10Speaker 1: I am too young for gifting tables, but a friend
- 3:14Speaker 1: of mine was just involved in one. And what I
- 3:17Speaker 1: saw murder on Middle Beach, I was like, bitch, you
- 3:21Speaker 1: have got to see this. It's so good. It's so good. Um,
- 3:27Speaker 1: but so was piny pretty things after an attack brings
- 3:38Speaker 1: down the star student at a ballet school. Yes, centered
- 3:42Speaker 1: the world of lies, betrayal and cutthroat competition. Yes, yes,
- 3:48Speaker 1: I saw that. I saw that preview for that whole thing.
- 3:52Speaker 1: You know what, I don't believe somebody who would push
- 3:54Speaker 1: a bitch off of like a four story building, But
- 3:58Speaker 1: I'm here to watch it. You're to watch it? Did you?
- 4:01Speaker 1: Are you one of the people that like watch the
- 4:03Speaker 1: Crown and are all into season four? Are you not? No,
- 4:08Speaker 1: I'm like falling. I can't. I can't. I haven't gotten
- 4:11Speaker 1: to season four because I can't get through season one.
- 4:14Speaker 1: But how is that happening? I feel like, if you
- 4:17Speaker 1: love Diana, you have to watch The Crown. I watched
- 4:21Speaker 1: the Diana documentary that's on Netflix, which I learned a
- 4:25Speaker 1: lot of things that I didn't know in her own words. Yes, amazing,
- 4:30Speaker 1: But this is the problem. You need to get as
- 4:33Speaker 1: far as you need to get to, like episode four
- 4:37Speaker 1: of Set Crown, like five, it's too much commitment, Like
- 4:42Speaker 1: Queen's gambit. They say, like you had to get through
- 4:44Speaker 1: episode one, which was correct. I can get through something,
- 4:47Speaker 1: but four hours to get four hours? Look, I don't
- 4:51Speaker 1: have three children. I have four children around my god
- 4:54Speaker 1: dead house, one that are breastfeaten and another one that's
- 4:56Speaker 1: like running around trying to be on camera. So I
- 4:58Speaker 1: don't know what it's like. I know I have four
- 5:01Speaker 1: hours to get through, and I love every minute of it.
- 5:06Speaker 1: Did you watch the second season of Dead to Me? Yes?
- 5:09Speaker 1: Did you like it? I didn't like it as much
- 5:11Speaker 1: as the first, but I still liked it. Yeah, because
- 5:13Speaker 1: it's too close to your life. But then also my
- 5:18Speaker 1: other show, like I'm like the one that I'm on,
- 5:21Speaker 1: you know, eighteen years or whatever it is of Gray's Anatomy.
- 5:25Speaker 1: I'm super depressed watching this year because everybody's during the pandemic.
- 5:30Speaker 1: But first and foremost, how are you devoting eighteen years
- 5:32Speaker 1: of your life too? But grades anatomy? But you can't
- 5:36Speaker 1: get four hours to the crowd. Well, this is actually
- 5:39Speaker 1: what happened. I didn't dedicate that through eighteen years. It
- 5:43Speaker 1: was when I was on bed rest? Was slate? I
- 5:45Speaker 1: watched about I don't know, fourteen seasons Gray's Anatomy. I
- 5:51Speaker 1: feel like you were one of these women, and don't
- 5:54Speaker 1: get mad at me because I know we're friends. I
- 5:56Speaker 1: feel like you're one of these women with a doctor
- 5:58Speaker 1: called Joe Monday and said you're off a bed rest,
- 6:00Speaker 1: but you still continued it until Thursday. Please tell me
- 6:04Speaker 1: I'm wrong, Please tell me I'm wrong. There was a
- 6:08Speaker 1: time that they were like, this could be partial bed rest,
- 6:10Speaker 1: and I was like, I knew it. Partially, I knew
- 6:15Speaker 1: I I knew it. Are you a ship's Creek person? Yes?
- 6:22Speaker 1: Did you watch it? I don't like comedies. Hold on,
- 6:26Speaker 1: let me slack you across this thing. By the way,
- 6:30Speaker 1: you don't have to like comedies. All you have to
- 6:32Speaker 1: do is like Catherine her hair. Okay, but I don't
- 6:36Speaker 1: want to be laughing, but this is the jam. You
- 6:39Speaker 1: don't need to laugh the whole time. Okay, you could
- 6:41Speaker 1: be an emo and just love the fashion and love
- 6:44Speaker 1: her acting and kill it if you were a fan
- 6:47Speaker 1: of Beetle Juice. For those of you who don't know
- 6:49Speaker 1: who Katherine her Hair is, she played Vida Yadeta's mom,
- 6:52Speaker 1: and she was phenomenal. She also played Kevin mccalluster's mom,
- 6:56Speaker 1: insidered world's worst mom in that movie. Well, of course,
- 7:01Speaker 1: if you leave your child at home while you're going
- 7:03Speaker 1: to Paris, basically you're the world's worst mom. So what
- 7:08Speaker 1: do you think Since we can't like I since we
- 7:11Speaker 1: can't go anywhere for New Year's or whatever, it is, like,
- 7:14Speaker 1: what are we gonna watch? What are we gonna do?
- 7:16Speaker 1: What's gonna I know you like your happy? You want
- 7:19Speaker 1: to watch something happy, So let's because you know what
- 7:22Speaker 1: I'm a I'm a practical bitch. Okay, Yeah, if you
- 7:26Speaker 1: got kids, there are a few movies coming out that
- 7:30Speaker 1: you can get on streaming services where you don't have
- 7:33Speaker 1: to break the bank, take all your kids, your husband
- 7:36Speaker 1: to the movies by the popcorn, and I'm spending only
- 7:39Speaker 1: for your four year old to want to walk out
- 7:42Speaker 1: and not go back in. So what you could do
- 7:45Speaker 1: is you could rent the Cruits Part to a New
- 7:48Speaker 1: Age is coming out. It's a universal movie. I just
- 7:51Speaker 1: watched it. You guys have to get it is so good.
- 7:56Speaker 1: It's so damn good. I loved it. It's so worth it.
- 8:03Speaker 1: And like, I already told somebody to watch it and
- 8:05Speaker 1: they gave me the like. I'm like, when you went
- 8:08Speaker 1: to the movie theaters, how much do you think it
- 8:10Speaker 1: costs not to go to dinner before the movie theaters?
- 8:13Speaker 1: And your kids are so hungry, You're spending a hundred
- 8:15Speaker 1: and fifty dollars to go to the movie where you
- 8:17Speaker 1: could just sit at home and watch this. And by
- 8:19Speaker 1: the way, you got twenty four hours. Share that passwords
- 8:22Speaker 1: is throw somebody else a blessing. Okay, that's all you
- 8:26Speaker 1: gotta do. It's share that blessing now. Okay, what else?
- 8:30Speaker 1: If you're not into the crudes and you want something
- 8:33Speaker 1: a little more elevated with the deeper meaning, if you
- 8:37Speaker 1: go and look up the soul it's with Angela Bassett
- 8:41Speaker 1: and with Jamie Fox, and it's from Pixar. It's for
- 8:45Speaker 1: the family. But I feel like even if you don't
- 8:48Speaker 1: have kids, if you're lonely and single like me, this
- 8:51Speaker 1: is still a great animal maybe a movie to watch.
- 8:54Speaker 1: It's about a man who has been trying to um
- 8:58Speaker 1: break into the music business for a very long time,
- 9:00Speaker 1: and the day he gets his big break, he falls
- 9:03Speaker 1: down a manhole and his body gets disconnected from his soul,
- 9:07Speaker 1: and his soul has to go through a journey to
- 9:09Speaker 1: find his body again and live his dream. It's the
- 9:13Speaker 1: most beautiful movie, and it's actually I think I'm going
- 9:16Speaker 1: to be nominated for Best Pictures. All right, well, I'm
- 9:18Speaker 1: writing that down. We'll see, we'll see. I'll hold you
- 9:21Speaker 1: to that. And then you just brought up that you
- 9:24Speaker 1: were single, So I'm not I'm not trying to not
- 9:26Speaker 1: trying to kick you here. I'm just saying, when you're
- 9:28Speaker 1: single and feeling a little low, what do you watch
- 9:31Speaker 1: to really bring on this sadness? Oh? I go to
- 9:35Speaker 1: the classics Family Stone, done, step Mom done, love actually
- 9:42Speaker 1: at Christmas? Done. But what I'm going to do Sylvie's Love.
- 9:48Speaker 1: I'm not gonna tell you what it's about. You need
- 9:50Speaker 1: to google it. Tessa Thompson, It's going to be the
- 9:54Speaker 1: greatest romantic movie of I'm not gonna ruin it for anybody.
- 10:00Speaker 1: I'm not gonna put this up for you. It's gonna
- 10:02Speaker 1: be the one that's gonna be the one. Okay, then
- 10:05Speaker 1: what do you think was the most hyped up show
- 10:08Speaker 1: that was overrated this year? Besides Tiger King? You didn't
- 10:14Speaker 1: enjoy watching it? I you know what I did. But
- 10:21Speaker 1: I wonder if everybody wasn't stuck in their house houses,
- 10:25Speaker 1: scared of protests, scared of COVID, scared of the murder hornets,
- 10:29Speaker 1: would we have been as hyped up as we were.
- 10:33Speaker 1: And by the way, we were all drunk. We were
- 10:37Speaker 1: all drunk in March. We were all fucked up in March.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Well in March we still thought like this was gonna
- 10:43Speaker 1: be a couple of weeks. But this is a couple
- 10:48Speaker 1: of weeks. Okay, Yeah, let's watch the Tiger King. I
- 10:52Speaker 1: watched something else during that time, and I can't remember
- 10:54Speaker 1: what it was, and like I was like Caro Abaska,
- 10:58Speaker 1: where my leopard? And then no, now we're going into
- 11:03Speaker 1: the next March we're totally I'm having a margarite that's
- 11:07Speaker 1: at work. You know what I would if I wasn't
- 11:09Speaker 1: hungover right now? So, I, oh, where'd you go last night? Oh?
- 11:14Speaker 1: I can't say, but I think you have a feeling.
- 11:16Speaker 1: I wore a holiday dress on a scale from one
- 11:21Speaker 1: to ten. Oh, there's not even a number I can give.
- 11:28Speaker 1: Do they make you? Do they make you work for
- 11:30Speaker 1: that money? Make a rain? Right? Gosh, we gotta okay,
- 11:39Speaker 1: favorite reality show, My favorite reality show did not Actually,
- 11:44Speaker 1: I'll take it back, Real Housewives Potoma City right now?
- 11:49Speaker 1: So do I need to watch that? You need to
- 11:52Speaker 1: get with it a S A P. First of all,
- 11:56Speaker 1: give a Potomac. Yes, if you haven't seen Potomac, I'm
- 12:00Speaker 1: telling you right now what you need to do. I'm
- 12:02Speaker 1: gonna give you the easy guy. To catch him up
- 12:04Speaker 1: on Potomac. All you have to do is go back
- 12:07Speaker 1: one season, watch the three reunions, and then go into
- 12:11Speaker 1: the newest seasons and watch the last season. And we're
- 12:15Speaker 1: on the second part of the reunion right now, so
- 12:17Speaker 1: you can actually catch up. But tell me, I'm obsessed
- 12:19Speaker 1: with It's probably my favorite, But I haven't watched Salt
- 12:23Speaker 1: Lake City It is unbelievable everybody. Honestly, I usually hate
- 12:29Speaker 1: when housewives, you know, come in and have a character
- 12:33Speaker 1: that they want to play, Like one of them wants
- 12:35Speaker 1: to be the glitzy girl, the other one wants to
- 12:37Speaker 1: be the workout barbie. This one wants to do this
- 12:39Speaker 1: because they watch you know, they watched Beverly Hills, they
- 12:42Speaker 1: watch New York, they watched Gerange County and they kind
- 12:44Speaker 1: of come through. And what they do is they say,
- 12:48Speaker 1: I'm gonna be the Jeddy Nailing Camp? Are the Kyle Richards?
- 12:51Speaker 1: Are the Erica Jane? What's going on in Potomac? I mean,
- 12:55Speaker 1: what's going on in Salt Lake City? Excuse me. It's
- 12:59Speaker 1: something that we've never seen before. We're talking about lives
- 13:03Speaker 1: of six women that revolve around a religion, which is unprecedented.
- 13:09Speaker 1: The Mormon Church is one of the hardest churches to
- 13:12Speaker 1: crack in, so they all lds. Everybody on the show's
- 13:16Speaker 1: l it's half and half, half half left. Half I
- 13:18Speaker 1: still are still in, some are practicing, some are not practicing,
- 13:22Speaker 1: someone in, some don't want in. So there is so
- 13:25Speaker 1: many layers to it that you get a different sense
- 13:29Speaker 1: of what the religion is it's really really fascinating. You're
- 13:33Speaker 1: also talking about a city that's run by Mormons. Do
- 13:38Speaker 1: you want to know one thing that I always find
- 13:40Speaker 1: a little, a little particular, a little a little curious
- 13:44Speaker 1: about lbs you can have, you cannot have coffee. Coffee
- 13:50Speaker 1: is out. But I see, but I see everybody popping
- 13:54Speaker 1: red bulls because that's not in their bible. Hold on,
- 13:59Speaker 1: let me first foremost, that's the only thing you find
- 14:02Speaker 1: particularly stranger by l DS. No, but don't get me wrong.
- 14:07Speaker 1: And I know this is an LDS, but sometimes I
- 14:09Speaker 1: can understand the appeal of having a sister wife. I'm
- 14:12Speaker 1: telling you right now, if I had my way, bitch,
- 14:15Speaker 1: I would have a sister wife, and I would be
- 14:16Speaker 1: a sister wife. I wouldn't want to be the main bitch.
- 14:19Speaker 1: I want to be the side chick that comes later
- 14:22Speaker 1: on who jumps in it does up the cute and
- 14:25Speaker 1: one who doesn't have the kids like I want to
- 14:27Speaker 1: help you, but I want to be able to go
- 14:29Speaker 1: back to my house and chill out. I don't know
- 14:32Speaker 1: why people are upset about it. Would you consider being mine?
- 14:36Speaker 1: Oh day, I love your husband, your kids are cute.
- 14:39Speaker 1: I'm cool as long as I can make the Christmas card.
- 14:42Speaker 1: We Gucci, We did a pretty good job on the
- 14:45Speaker 1: Christmas card this year. I'm just saying, have you heard
- 14:47Speaker 1: of what's going on with Brauwin Burke Wyndham from Real
- 14:51Speaker 1: House Eyes and Orange County? Yes? So I think at
- 14:55Speaker 1: some point they are going to need sister wives. Oh
- 15:00Speaker 1: but is that legal here? It doesn't matter. It doesn't
- 15:03Speaker 1: matter if you want to be married and have a
- 15:06Speaker 1: side check. People do it all the time legally be
- 15:09Speaker 1: married to two people. No, but you can let somebody
- 15:12Speaker 1: move in, You can let somebody live under your roof.
- 15:15Speaker 1: I smell that this is going to happen for she
- 15:18Speaker 1: and her new girlfriend. I think this is going to
- 15:21Speaker 1: get way more serious than we have seen, than we expect.
- 15:25Speaker 1: I think that Sean is out of the picture twenty
- 15:27Speaker 1: days out of the month, and he is okay with
- 15:30Speaker 1: her having a girlfriend. He obviously does not want to
- 15:32Speaker 1: split up his family. He does not want to split
- 15:34Speaker 1: up the money. So he might build old girl up
- 15:38Speaker 1: second winning of the House. But but you don't want
- 15:40Speaker 1: to know where it's gonna get messy. It might be
- 15:42Speaker 1: all fine and dandy, but when Sean brings in his
- 15:45Speaker 1: girlfriend and I'm gonna be No. I see your face
- 15:49Speaker 1: right now, but you're wrong. I don't think Sean. You
- 15:51Speaker 1: don't think Sean's want to grow over already? Well, no,
- 15:55Speaker 1: I mean to actually live there. You don't think Sean.
- 15:59Speaker 1: First of all, bothos, No, Sean travels days out of
- 16:05Speaker 1: the month. You do the math, Shan's probably got those
- 16:10Speaker 1: in different area codes. Let's be real. But we can't
- 16:14Speaker 1: judge it because it works for them. It's their marriage.
- 16:19Speaker 1: This is what they've agreed to, and people can't judge it.
- 16:23Speaker 1: And if I had six kids and my wife said
- 16:26Speaker 1: I don't want to be with men seven kids. If
- 16:30Speaker 1: I had seven kids and my wife said to me,
- 16:33Speaker 1: I'm not attracted some men, I think I want to
- 16:35Speaker 1: explore this other side of myself before I in my marriage.
- 16:39Speaker 1: I'm gonna say, you know what, you go explore. Let's
- 16:42Speaker 1: keep this thing going, and let's let's come back in
- 16:45Speaker 1: a year and a half and see how you feel.
- 16:48Speaker 1: This might be a phase for her. You never knew,
- 16:51Speaker 1: You never know. I wish we could talk for hours,
- 16:54Speaker 1: but now I have to go. I have to we
- 16:56Speaker 1: have to take a break. And it's sadness and I
- 16:59Speaker 1: want to you having that mark with you right now
- 17:02Speaker 1: and talk about a million other thanks. Oh trust me,
- 17:04Speaker 1: when you go to commercial break, we having a conversation.
- 17:08Speaker 1: Thank you so much. And next guest is Jen Lahmer's
- 17:20Speaker 1: I am so excited to have her on. I need
- 17:24Speaker 1: to know every little, every little show that makes people tick.
- 17:28Speaker 1: I feel like that's the way that I get to
- 17:30Speaker 1: know you. So we'll start off favorite show you watched.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Oh my god, Okay, we're gonna find out a lot
- 17:37Speaker 1: about me. Then, um I am. I made it my
- 17:40Speaker 1: mission this year to binge watch all the shows that
- 17:44Speaker 1: everybody's been talking about, like in the last ten years. Okay,
- 17:48Speaker 1: shows are all like so I feel like I can
- 17:51Speaker 1: relate to other people right Ninety day Fiance has become
- 17:54Speaker 1: my quarantine weakness. Okay, I've heard a lot, I've watched
- 18:00Speaker 1: a touch of it. I have, But the friends that
- 18:03Speaker 1: I do watch see I'm a I'm a bachelor girl, yes,
- 18:08Speaker 1: but not not necessarily the Bachelor anymore. I just like
- 18:10Speaker 1: Bachelor in Paradise, like the spinoffs. Yeah, so I'm on
- 18:14Speaker 1: a group text, but they've all moved on to ninety
- 18:17Speaker 1: day Fiance. They're like, we don't want to talk about
- 18:20Speaker 1: this anymore. And I'm like, I'm not. I can't. I'm not.
- 18:23Speaker 1: I just can't. I'm not a trader. Let me tell you,
- 18:26Speaker 1: once you watch one episode, you're gonna watch all of them.
- 18:28Speaker 1: I've watched all the spinoffs, like all the franchises. I
- 18:31Speaker 1: am such an addict it's not even funny. Um. So
- 18:34Speaker 1: I've also started watching There's a couple of shows that
- 18:37Speaker 1: everybody's already watched already, so Stranger Things. I'm on season two.
- 18:41Speaker 1: I can tell me what happens okay, okay, and The
- 18:45Speaker 1: Walking Dead. So I know there's like a million seasons there,
- 18:47Speaker 1: and I've watched like two of them. Um, I can
- 18:50Speaker 1: tell you that some of the newer shows that I've
- 18:53Speaker 1: watched are you. I'm kind of like a like a
- 18:57Speaker 1: guy's girl like guy like guy humor. So I have
- 19:00Speaker 1: been binging big mouth. I don't even know what that is.
- 19:03Speaker 1: How who's in there? So it's Nick Roll. It's actually
- 19:07Speaker 1: an animated series, but it's not appropriate for kids. It's
- 19:12Speaker 1: about all these um preteens who are going through puberty
- 19:16Speaker 1: and like the funny side of that. So Nick Kroll
- 19:19Speaker 1: is the executive producer and he's also he also voices
- 19:22Speaker 1: over like eighty characters. He's so talented. But I love
- 19:26Speaker 1: the show. All right, have you what about have you done? Ozark?
- 19:29Speaker 1: We started that and the problem is is that my
- 19:33Speaker 1: son comes into our room and the middle of the
- 19:36Speaker 1: night sometimes to sleep, not the middle of the night,
- 19:38Speaker 1: but like it's like eleven or something, and if we
- 19:41Speaker 1: have fallen asleep while watching it and Ozark is playing
- 19:44Speaker 1: when he comes in, there's like the craziest sex scenes
- 19:47Speaker 1: ever and always like I'm like, oh, sorry, back, Like
- 19:53Speaker 1: I know, so did you do? I watched a couple
- 19:56Speaker 1: of seasons of ozark Um and then I dropped off.
- 19:58Speaker 1: But I'm also like huge true crime person. Have you
- 20:03Speaker 1: watched the Unsolved Mysteries reboot? Of course I have, but
- 20:08Speaker 1: like it's it has a different type of field than
- 20:11Speaker 1: the original Unsolved Mysteries to me because I think maybe
- 20:14Speaker 1: I've decided I'm more of an investigator in my more
- 20:18Speaker 1: adult age, and so I want answers, right. So, like
- 20:22Speaker 1: in the original version, Robert Stack was the narrator and
- 20:25Speaker 1: he kind of took people through the stories, but this
- 20:26Speaker 1: time they actually let the victims tell the stories for themselves,
- 20:31Speaker 1: and like they interview all these people. So and it's
- 20:35Speaker 1: I think it's different, the still the same, like creepy
- 20:38Speaker 1: opening music. It's it's scared the daylights out of me
- 20:43Speaker 1: and I love it. I don't know why. Um The
- 20:45Speaker 1: Ripper is also something that I've gotten. I've gotten addicted
- 20:49Speaker 1: to right I'm taking It's a limited series. It's on Netflix. Um,
- 20:55Speaker 1: it's about a It's about a serial killer who who
- 21:01Speaker 1: was around during the seventies and eighties in England. Were
- 21:07Speaker 1: you a Handsmaid's tail kind of gal? I actually never
- 21:11Speaker 1: watched that show. I didn't either, but everybody said, like, oh,
- 21:14Speaker 1: it's amazing, it's amazing, But now I didn't do it.
- 21:17Speaker 1: You never watched it either, Okay, I'm glad I'm not
- 21:20Speaker 1: the only one because I talked about it and like,
- 21:22Speaker 1: if you don't watch it, then you're completely left missing out.
- 21:25Speaker 1: In succession, I bought it, I spent the money to
- 21:28Speaker 1: do it, and then I didn't watch it. I watched
- 21:30Speaker 1: the first couple episodes, and I don't know why I
- 21:32Speaker 1: didn't get sucked in. I heard that you have to
- 21:34Speaker 1: go through like the first like the first few, and
- 21:37Speaker 1: then then you're hooked. But that's when I was just
- 21:39Speaker 1: a huge fan. Well that I was. I have Justin
- 21:42Speaker 1: Sylvester on earlier in this episode, and he was telling
- 21:46Speaker 1: me the same thing about the crown. I'm like, I'm
- 21:48Speaker 1: not willing. Okay, that's what I actually have watched. You
- 21:53Speaker 1: went through the first seasons. I did only because I'm
- 21:56Speaker 1: fascinated by the royal family, and I I don't know why.
- 22:00Speaker 1: I just feel like, you know, modern day royalty, what
- 22:03Speaker 1: that what that's like? And then this season, season four,
- 22:06Speaker 1: you get to know Princess Diana and Emma corn is
- 22:11Speaker 1: her doppelganger. She's so good. It's so eerie to like
- 22:15Speaker 1: watch her put on the wedding dress and you know,
- 22:19Speaker 1: she's just so good at it. All right, I mean
- 22:22Speaker 1: maybe I need to try to commit. I just I
- 22:23Speaker 1: just I mean it's it's up and down. I mean
- 22:25Speaker 1: there's some there's some episodes that are kind of like,
- 22:28Speaker 1: you know, a little boring and not much action happens,
- 22:30Speaker 1: but then you have these like redeeming episodes that are
- 22:33Speaker 1: that sets stories up and and and what do you
- 22:36Speaker 1: think the most overrated show that you've watched, Like the
- 22:40Speaker 1: one that everybody's like, you have to watch it. And
- 22:43Speaker 1: then Emily and Paris, Oh, well, Emily and Perry I'm sorry,
- 22:49Speaker 1: Emily and Perry. That's I'm sorry. That alone makes it
- 22:55Speaker 1: overrated for me, that tweet I was, I I mean, yeah, yeah,
- 23:01Speaker 1: but I mean listen, I've watched a few episodes. I
- 23:03Speaker 1: didn't get hooked because I just thought that, like all
- 23:05Speaker 1: the guys, even the uber drivers and the show are
- 23:09Speaker 1: smoking hot, like it's not to me, it's not realistic
- 23:12Speaker 1: at all. No, I agree, I agree, I I feel
- 23:17Speaker 1: that way. I also felt that way about hold On.
- 23:22Speaker 1: I'm trying to think of what now I'm blinking. I'm
- 23:25Speaker 1: a hot mess express today. But I feel like there's
- 23:28Speaker 1: been some shows that people are just gravitating too. And
- 23:31Speaker 1: it was a doctor show, like a docuseries, and everybody
- 23:34Speaker 1: got really into it, and I didn't like it. A
- 23:36Speaker 1: doctor show. Oh god, um, I know, ah, I can't
- 23:43Speaker 1: think of it either. Um, I do know, I do know.
- 23:45Speaker 1: Have a couple of shows that do you like Euphoria.
- 23:49Speaker 1: I loved Euphoria. Yeah that's coming back for season two
- 23:53Speaker 1: this month at the end of this month. But they
- 23:55Speaker 1: definitely kind of would feel sick after watching it. But
- 23:58Speaker 1: I was still obsessed. I mean, it made all of
- 24:00Speaker 1: us seem like nuns in high school. I know, I
- 24:03Speaker 1: was like, wow, I was so good. I didn't do
- 24:06Speaker 1: any of this stuff. I don't think anybody could like this,
- 24:09Speaker 1: spen the bottle in the class. It was, you know,
- 24:13Speaker 1: oh my gosh. But thank you so much for joining
- 24:15Speaker 1: us and digging in and taking the time too. In
- 24:19Speaker 1: closing on New Year's Eve this year, if you have
- 24:22Speaker 1: to watch something, what would it be, It's gonna be
- 24:24Speaker 1: Walking Dead's Heart by Heart, so you know it's very fitting. Yea,
- 24:33Speaker 1: thank you so much. If you guys love Jin, make
- 24:36Speaker 1: sure to check her out weeknights on Extra TV. Check
- 24:39Speaker 1: your localistics. And now guys were bringing on Brianne Heldman,
- 24:43Speaker 1: who is a senior editor at People magazine. She knows
- 24:46Speaker 1: all things pop culture, so I need to know like
- 24:50Speaker 1: reality television wise, we can't go housewife because I already
- 24:52Speaker 1: had justin sylvestaurant and we've talked about that. What should
- 24:56Speaker 1: we be watching reality wise? Well, there's a really fun
- 24:59Speaker 1: show coming in January on Netflix called Bulling Empire, And
- 25:05Speaker 1: if you are a Bravo fan, this is going to
- 25:07Speaker 1: be your jam. Uh. It follows this super wealthy group
- 25:12Speaker 1: of friends uh in l A and they go to
- 25:15Speaker 1: these crazy over the top parties. They're constantly stabbing each
- 25:19Speaker 1: other in the back. In the first few episodes, there's
- 25:21Speaker 1: a huge fight over one woman who buys the same
- 25:25Speaker 1: super blinging necklace as another woman, and it's drama. That
- 25:30Speaker 1: girl then gets seated down at the end of the
- 25:32Speaker 1: table at a dinner party, which is just, oh, really,
- 25:37Speaker 1: seating matters. Seating. I've learned that the hard right. I
- 25:42Speaker 1: learned that the hard way, So that one is really fun.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Of course, there is a really fun holiday themed reality
- 25:51Speaker 1: show called Twelve Dates of Christmas that has since you did.
- 25:55Speaker 1: It's very cute. Another dating show very in The Bachelor
- 25:58Speaker 1: vein Um, it all survived. It all is around which
- 26:03Speaker 1: guy are you going to take home to your parents
- 26:05Speaker 1: for Christmas? I love that. I actually like Bachelor plus
- 26:08Speaker 1: Hallmark great. And then what is something that you have
- 26:14Speaker 1: started binging a little bit during this uh pandemic? Well,
- 26:18Speaker 1: I've done a lot of binging. Um. I actually was
- 26:22Speaker 1: behind the eight ball on Killing Eve. So that is
- 26:26Speaker 1: the big one that I just finished. I'm caught up.
- 26:28Speaker 1: I'm ready for season four. That's really fun. It's a
- 26:33Speaker 1: lot more fun than I expected. Because it's pre prestige TV.
- 26:36Speaker 1: You often think you're gonna get a little snootiness. It's
- 26:40Speaker 1: gonna be a little slow, it's going to be serious,
- 26:43Speaker 1: and it is not a drag. It is delightful. It
- 26:45Speaker 1: is firecrackers if you have not watched it, I haven't
- 26:48Speaker 1: watching that out too. It's so much more fun than
- 26:51Speaker 1: I expected. Do we get the Morning Show back again soon?
- 26:55Speaker 1: I'm really missing that one me too. Definitely, we're getting
- 26:58Speaker 1: in there currently in production. Will probably pause for the holidays,
- 27:02Speaker 1: but they we'll be back. But I wouldn't expect in
- 27:05Speaker 1: the first few months of the year. And what do
- 27:07Speaker 1: you think the most overrated show has been? Oh that
- 27:13Speaker 1: is a tough question. Um oh man, I don't know.
- 27:21Speaker 1: I mean Tiger King. Let's be honest. You had to
- 27:25Speaker 1: watch it. It was delicious, and in hindsight, I feel
- 27:28Speaker 1: a little dirty about it. That is true. If there's
- 27:31Speaker 1: one show this year in general, like For Your Life
- 27:35Speaker 1: or even could be a movie that you watch over
- 27:37Speaker 1: and over and over again, I'm dying to hit play
- 27:41Speaker 1: again on The Queen's Gambit. It was that No. I
- 27:45Speaker 1: The first episode was a little for me, and then
- 27:48Speaker 1: I became obsessed. But I feel like I missed a lot. Yeah,
- 27:51Speaker 1: I feel like there's a lot of symbolism and a
- 27:53Speaker 1: lot of nuances to some of the relationships that maybe
- 27:56Speaker 1: i'd get in a second go run. I'll give you
- 27:58Speaker 1: another one that I really want to hit a on again.
- 28:01Speaker 1: And it's it's a show that probably you've not heard of.
- 28:03Speaker 1: It is so much fun. It is on Peacock. It's
- 28:06Speaker 1: called Five Bedrooms and it's an Australian comedy. Um it
- 28:11Speaker 1: is one season, eight episodes. You can fly right through it.
- 28:15Speaker 1: It is like Friends meets h G t V. It's
- 28:18Speaker 1: about this group of people who meet at a wedding
- 28:21Speaker 1: at the singles table, and they start talking about how
- 28:24Speaker 1: expensive real estate is when you're single and you pay first,
- 28:27Speaker 1: you pay so much and you get so little. And
- 28:30Speaker 1: they decide that well, if we all pulled our money
- 28:33Speaker 1: and got a five bedroom house, we could get a
- 28:35Speaker 1: really baller pad. So these strangers move in together. They
- 28:39Speaker 1: make this huge financial investment and hilarity ensues. There's of
- 28:44Speaker 1: course romance, there's fights. It is so much fun. I
- 28:48Speaker 1: cannot wait for season two. And in closing, if there
- 28:52Speaker 1: was one show that you just watched, because when you're
- 28:55Speaker 1: going not like going to bed, but like you're just
- 28:57Speaker 1: toning it down for the night you're in bed and
- 29:00Speaker 1: it's just, you know, whatever it is. It could be
- 29:02Speaker 1: mystery or relaxing or funny or what's that show. I
- 29:06Speaker 1: am a die hard fan of MTV is the Challenge.
- 29:09Speaker 1: And now there's two seasons available on Netflix, super old
- 29:13Speaker 1: seasons with like The Miss and Jamie Chung and all
- 29:17Speaker 1: of these people that you recognize Karamo, And now it's
- 29:20Speaker 1: also like tons more seasons available on CBS l Access
- 29:24Speaker 1: so you can watch these really old seasons. And of
- 29:28Speaker 1: course there are new seasons airing on MTV right now.
- 29:30Speaker 1: That's actually really exciting for me. I'm of course that
- 29:33Speaker 1: person that like watches Law and Order s v U.
- 29:35Speaker 1: As I'm falling to bet, falling to sleep and my
- 29:38Speaker 1: husband's like, you're sick in the head. I'm like, he's
- 29:40Speaker 1: like Denton Dent, Dent, and you're like ra right, Like,
- 29:46Speaker 1: I can't thank you so much for digging into this
- 29:50Speaker 1: further with us, and it's so great to see you,
- 29:52Speaker 1: um wor can people find more on you on me?
- 29:57Speaker 1: I'm on Instagram and Twitter both as Brianne and I
- 30:00Speaker 1: see I love it. Thank you so much for joining us.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Thanks Kate, Casey is one of my faiths. I slide
- 30:15Speaker 1: into her d m s like every couple of weeks
- 30:18Speaker 1: because I'm like, what do I need to watch now?
- 30:20Speaker 1: She has a podcast all about which shows tubinge watch,
- 30:26Speaker 1: and she updates it NonStop. So Kate's podcast is Reality
- 30:31Speaker 1: Life with Kate Casey. It's so good. It's funny. You'll
- 30:36Speaker 1: also see Kate um when you look in the magazines
- 30:40Speaker 1: and people are wearing kind of you know, crazy outfits.
- 30:44Speaker 1: She's the comedian that writes the little the little quotes
- 30:47Speaker 1: about it, and so she always gives me a good
- 30:49Speaker 1: chuckle with that. So I already announced that I am
- 30:53Speaker 1: the person that slides into your d ms quite often,
- 30:57Speaker 1: asking and how it shows to watch. Yeah, I feel
- 31:02Speaker 1: like I'm a little bit struggling right now because there's
- 31:05Speaker 1: the ones that like I love for me, but also
- 31:09Speaker 1: like I need some for the family too, really need
- 31:14Speaker 1: we need to cover the basis? Yeah, yeah, I know.
- 31:16Speaker 1: I was thinking I should put a list out for
- 31:18Speaker 1: kids too. Um, I have some great recommendations. Um, you know,
- 31:22Speaker 1: one of the great shows that a lot of people
- 31:24Speaker 1: don't know about for kids is called, um it's called
- 31:27Speaker 1: Discovery Unknown. Let me just double check that summit. That's
- 31:30Speaker 1: the exact name, because I want to make sure. So
- 31:33Speaker 1: it's this really great anthropologist named Josh Gates Discovery excuse me,
- 31:39Speaker 1: Expedition Known and that is on the Discovery Channel. So
- 31:43Speaker 1: it's an he's an anthropologist. Name is Josh Gates. In
- 31:46Speaker 1: every episode he goes to a different part of the world.
- 31:49Speaker 1: I mean, he's exploring a mystery. My kids love it. So,
- 31:52Speaker 1: Like one of the episodes was about the NASA lines.
- 31:55Speaker 1: So if you are in a plane and you fly
- 31:57Speaker 1: over this area of Peru, there are lines in the
- 32:00Speaker 1: ground that no one can understand and you've been there
- 32:04Speaker 1: for thousands of years, and the craziest thing that the
- 32:07Speaker 1: lines are in shapes, so you just so Josh actually
- 32:11Speaker 1: flies down and you go to the ground and it
- 32:14Speaker 1: would be like if you took a shovel, you couldn't
- 32:16Speaker 1: even dig it, like to to duplicate it. And it's
- 32:20Speaker 1: very windy air. It just defies logic. So he's trying
- 32:23Speaker 1: to figure out where the lines came from. So if
- 32:25Speaker 1: you fly over Peru, this area, it's in the shape
- 32:28Speaker 1: of like a beetle and a bee, and they're like,
- 32:31Speaker 1: it looks like an Egyptian war person and another episode
- 32:35Speaker 1: he went to to dig for Cleopatra's um tom one
- 32:41Speaker 1: he tries to find part of the crucifixion or the
- 32:44Speaker 1: cross from Christ and Turkey, and he digs under this
- 32:46Speaker 1: building and he finds all of these tunnels. So it's
- 32:49Speaker 1: great because your kids get really excited about different points
- 32:53Speaker 1: of history, and then you're also explaining to them different
- 32:56Speaker 1: parts of the globe, and you're also feeling like you're
- 32:59Speaker 1: on an adventure during the episode. So that's one I
- 33:02Speaker 1: really recommend for families to watch together because even as
- 33:05Speaker 1: an adult, you're like, oh my god, I didn't know
- 33:06Speaker 1: about this. Yeah. Yeah, because I took to Instagram to
- 33:11Speaker 1: try to find a show for my daughter and I
- 33:13Speaker 1: to watch when um my husband and center watching the
- 33:16Speaker 1: Rams Games, and everyone everybody recommended Gilmore Girls, which I
- 33:21Speaker 1: know is an oldie but goodie, but it's a little
- 33:24Speaker 1: und band first. Late, like all of a sudden, now
- 33:26Speaker 1: we're like having these conversations that I'm like, I'm not
- 33:29Speaker 1: sure I was really ready to have with you an age,
- 33:33Speaker 1: so but she loves it, and I am happy that,
- 33:37Speaker 1: like we're opening up and having those combos. But I
- 33:40Speaker 1: was like, maybe I just did a little more research. Yeah, okay,
- 33:44Speaker 1: well here's my oldest is eleven. She's very artsy and
- 33:48Speaker 1: so we really liked this at HBO Mac show called
- 33:52Speaker 1: Stylish with Jenna Alliance. Now, Jenna Alliance is probably familiar
- 33:56Speaker 1: because she ran Jay Crew for twenty six years. So
- 34:01Speaker 1: now she's starting her own new business. Sort. It's interesting
- 34:05Speaker 1: because it's a hybrid of like interior decor and design
- 34:10Speaker 1: and interior interior and fashion design. She's actually got a
- 34:14Speaker 1: new job rein imagining Rockefeller Center, so she's just this
- 34:18Speaker 1: insanely creative person, but she's starting a new business. So
- 34:21Speaker 1: she has these two um coworkers or people that work
- 34:25Speaker 1: for her, and they've got a great friendship and so
- 34:26Speaker 1: you get seen in each episode they're going to a
- 34:30Speaker 1: different project and they're all really funny, and it's almost
- 34:33Speaker 1: like a competition show as well, because people are fighting
- 34:35Speaker 1: to work for her, and as you can imagine, you
- 34:37Speaker 1: would want a job with her. Um. So as an
- 34:39Speaker 1: adult you're laughing because their banter is funny, but as
- 34:42Speaker 1: a kid, you're gonna be really inspired by the idea
- 34:46Speaker 1: that you could have one job for twenty six years
- 34:49Speaker 1: and can then take the lessons and then start something new,
- 34:53Speaker 1: and that you don't have to just be in one
- 34:56Speaker 1: box like you're only an interior designer. She kind of
- 34:59Speaker 1: like a encapsulates the idea of a creative person being
- 35:03Speaker 1: in several different pockets. So I like that show a
- 35:05Speaker 1: lot too. And then what if you had to pick?
- 35:08Speaker 1: I know this is going to be hard, but the
- 35:10Speaker 1: favorite show of this year, Oh well, if I were
- 35:15Speaker 1: talking about reality show, there's a show called House of Home.
- 35:18Speaker 1: It's on HBO Max and it's called House of Ho
- 35:22Speaker 1: Ho and it's about a Vietnamese family in Houston. It's
- 35:25Speaker 1: basically the personification of that movie Crazy Rich Asians. So
- 35:30Speaker 1: it's this great family dynamic. So they have this couple
- 35:35Speaker 1: came to the United States after the or before the
- 35:38Speaker 1: fall of Saigon, and they have three kids, Judy, Washington,
- 35:43Speaker 1: and Reagan. And those kids, uh, Judy and Washington have kids,
- 35:48Speaker 1: and they're all named after presidents, so it's like Truman, Kennedy, Lincoln,
- 35:52Speaker 1: and they are this very wealthy family and they spend
- 35:55Speaker 1: all their time together and their dynamics are really funny.
- 35:58Speaker 1: I love that. I just watch that the end of
- 36:01Speaker 1: this year, and I think it's like really funny and
- 36:04Speaker 1: uplifting and just got great relationships. And I think it's
- 36:07Speaker 1: great to see some diversity on TV, So I like
- 36:09Speaker 1: that one. Now for docuseries, I've really loved on HBO
- 36:14Speaker 1: this series called Murder on Middle Beach Me too good.
- 36:19Speaker 1: It's so good, And like I became obsessed with trying
- 36:23Speaker 1: to understand the gifting tables, like I needed to bring
- 36:28Speaker 1: my husband and I'm like, I really need to understand
- 36:32Speaker 1: how they didn't know. Okay. One other thing that I
- 36:35Speaker 1: feel like you would be into is it's kind of
- 36:38Speaker 1: off the beaten path, but it's on the Stars channel
- 36:41Speaker 1: because Stars did a really good documentary about Nexium called Seduced.
- 36:47Speaker 1: It's really good. But they have another documentary that's called
- 36:52Speaker 1: The Cult of the Family. And I've been obsessed with
- 36:55Speaker 1: this woman because there are very few times in history
- 36:57Speaker 1: where a cult leader has been a woman. This woman's
- 37:00Speaker 1: name was Anne Hamilton's Bird, and she had First of all,
- 37:04Speaker 1: she had so many facelifts. Her hairline was at the
- 37:07Speaker 1: very top of her head, so she's jarring to look at.
- 37:09Speaker 1: But she was sort of well for she I spent
- 37:13Speaker 1: some time in a mental health hospital and then reinvents
- 37:16Speaker 1: herself when she gets out as like a yoga instructor,
- 37:19Speaker 1: and then syncd up with this university professor in Australia
- 37:23Speaker 1: and the two of them began this church and she
- 37:26Speaker 1: basically convinced people to give them her children, and then
- 37:31Speaker 1: had Sect members that worked at the hospital. And at
- 37:34Speaker 1: that time, in the seventies, it was very looked looked
- 37:37Speaker 1: down upon in Australia to be a single mom. So
- 37:40Speaker 1: the doctor at the hospital and the nurse were all
- 37:42Speaker 1: Sect members and they convinced these single mothers like you
- 37:45Speaker 1: really should just place your child for adoption, or or
- 37:48Speaker 1: they would just put something over their mouth and then
- 37:51Speaker 1: they would wake up and the baby would be gone.
- 37:53Speaker 1: So all these kids were being raised on this ranch
- 37:57Speaker 1: in the suburbs of Australia, and she would make the
- 38:00Speaker 1: dye their hair to look platinum blonde, so they looked
- 38:02Speaker 1: alike and they would wear bows in their hairs. But
- 38:04Speaker 1: they were being subjective, of course, to emotional abuse. But
- 38:08Speaker 1: they're all adults now talking about what happened to them.
- 38:11Speaker 1: And the story of this woman is just bonkers. It's
- 38:14Speaker 1: really fascinating. No, I'm gonna but there's also another one, right,
- 38:18Speaker 1: like baby God or something like, Okay, so Baby God's
- 38:21Speaker 1: really good because Baby God is about this doctor named
- 38:25Speaker 1: doctor Quincy Fortier, and he was a fertility doctor in Nevada.
- 38:30Speaker 1: He was one of the first kind of fertility doctors.
- 38:32Speaker 1: But what he was doing was committing um conception deception
- 38:37Speaker 1: where a client comes in and you're telling them I'm
- 38:40Speaker 1: going to use your husband's sperm, but he used his
- 38:43Speaker 1: own sperm. What yes, So all of these oh yeah,
- 38:49Speaker 1: but that's still happening. In fact, on my show, I
- 38:51Speaker 1: interviewed Eve Wiley and she found out through twenty three
- 38:54Speaker 1: and me that her biological father was her mother's fertility doctor.
- 38:58Speaker 1: Because what happens is add and a lot of the
- 39:00Speaker 1: it's like the wild Wild West for a lot of
- 39:03Speaker 1: these fertility doctors. They found that there's something called like
- 39:07Speaker 1: combining sperm. So if the donor sperm is weak, you
- 39:11Speaker 1: use someone else's sperm and combine them and that makes
- 39:15Speaker 1: for stronger sperm. So all of these people have been
- 39:19Speaker 1: the victims because they think that the donor is this person,
- 39:23Speaker 1: but it's actually the fertility doctor. So Baby God is
- 39:27Speaker 1: exploring this this case of doctor Quincy Fortier, but also
- 39:31Speaker 1: kind of expounding on like this wild wild West of
- 39:35Speaker 1: fertility law. It's kind of wacky. Um. I used to
- 39:37Speaker 1: actually I used to do media consulting for law firms
- 39:40Speaker 1: in my previous life, and one of my clients was
- 39:42Speaker 1: a fertility lawyer and she and her sister had a
- 39:47Speaker 1: surrogacy practice and they were found found guilty of committing
- 39:50Speaker 1: fraud as well. So it just shows you, like, the
- 39:53Speaker 1: world of fertility is really the wild wild West. I mean,
- 39:57Speaker 1: I know how crazy and my emotional all ups and
- 40:00Speaker 1: downs I was having through my fertility struggles. It's so
- 40:04Speaker 1: it's so sad and so and also just like you
- 40:07Speaker 1: want to understand the mindset that somebody goes to understand
- 40:11Speaker 1: the week, like why why go after somebody who's already
- 40:14Speaker 1: feeling so sad, so upset, like unable to conceive? And then,
- 40:21Speaker 1: as it makes sense, you become a don And also
- 40:25Speaker 1: I think doctors who are also already sociopathic. You're you're
- 40:29Speaker 1: combining sociopathic tendencies with people in positions of power who
- 40:33Speaker 1: at some point feel like they're above the rules, right,
- 40:36Speaker 1: like the rules don't apply to that, Well, what about
- 40:39Speaker 1: the undoing? I know, it's that's basically the same kind
- 40:43Speaker 1: of pathology right, um. And also it's invading the sanctity
- 40:47Speaker 1: of fertility and someone's growing someone's family, So that was
- 40:51Speaker 1: another doozy. I I couldn't wrap my brain around that
- 40:54Speaker 1: one for a long time. Well here's and I'm not
- 40:57Speaker 1: gonna ruin it for anybody. If you haven't watched it yet,
- 41:01Speaker 1: you definitely need to watch it. I loved it until
- 41:04Speaker 1: the final episode. I I was mad. I did. I
- 41:08Speaker 1: was like, no, that that wasn't for me. Yeah, because
- 41:11Speaker 1: you're a justice person, that's why. Yeah, I just I couldn't.
- 41:15Speaker 1: I was like, I can't wrap my head around I'm
- 41:18Speaker 1: not happy one something that I have just started. But
- 41:21Speaker 1: I only watched the first episode, and then a lot
- 41:24Speaker 1: of people have told me, yeah, the first episode is good,
- 41:25Speaker 1: but then Peter's off is flight Attendant. Yeah, I have
- 41:30Speaker 1: not watched that. And I'm gonna tell you why. I
- 41:32Speaker 1: am so engulfed in the world of unscripted that I
- 41:37Speaker 1: am more and I'm more inspired by true stories. I
- 41:41Speaker 1: think that so and I'm engulfed in it so long
- 41:44Speaker 1: that when I see scripted sometimes I'm like, oh, no
- 41:46Speaker 1: one would ever act like that, and I get annoyed.
- 41:49Speaker 1: You know, it does make sense so what because we
- 41:53Speaker 1: can't do anything on New Year's Eve? You know, there's
- 41:55Speaker 1: lessons that we're able to do. What do you think
- 41:58Speaker 1: we should watch? Oh my god, there's so many great series.
- 42:01Speaker 1: There's so many docusees. Docuseries really are the way because
- 42:05Speaker 1: you can binge them all. You know, episodic unscripted television shows.
- 42:10Speaker 1: You have to wait a whole week for another episode,
- 42:12Speaker 1: and that can be painful because then you kind of
- 42:15Speaker 1: forget about the show and then you gotta get sucked
- 42:17Speaker 1: back in. So if you're going to stay quarantine, there's
- 42:21Speaker 1: nothing better, nothing more romantic than getting the person that
- 42:24Speaker 1: you're with to get sucked into the same show. So,
- 42:28Speaker 1: I mean, there's so many great docuseries there. There there's
- 42:31Speaker 1: true crime stuff about Colts. One cult one that you
- 42:34Speaker 1: would also love is called Holy Hell. This was a
- 42:37Speaker 1: cult leader who had a compound in Austin, Texas, and
- 42:41Speaker 1: he could this is like, it's like, you can't even
- 42:43Speaker 1: write this stuff because no one would believe it. But
- 42:47Speaker 1: he convinced all these people to move to the compound
- 42:50Speaker 1: and they were basically all doing things for him, like
- 42:53Speaker 1: cutting up fruit into the shape of fruit every more
- 42:56Speaker 1: like shapes for him each morning, like doing everything for him,
- 43:00Speaker 1: and he would subject them to hours of you're not
- 43:02Speaker 1: gonna believe this ballet, ballet, ballet. So you have adults
- 43:07Speaker 1: wearing leotards who have no ballet experience like yours truly,
- 43:10Speaker 1: like I have no ballet experience, So imagine me on
- 43:13Speaker 1: a compound, and he would make them perform these routines
- 43:16Speaker 1: and then they would have a whole production. But everybody
- 43:20Speaker 1: in the productions in the coal So there's like one
- 43:22Speaker 1: person in the audience, and the cult leader is the
- 43:24Speaker 1: center of the show. And he's like closeted and he
- 43:27Speaker 1: has like all of this um like makeup and stuff,
- 43:32Speaker 1: and he has all these men that he's doing things
- 43:35Speaker 1: for and he was subjecting them to abuse. But it
- 43:37Speaker 1: was quieted because he wanted to uh present himself as
- 43:41Speaker 1: this heterosexual man. That's so because by doing that the
- 43:45Speaker 1: women were kind of like entranced by him and wanted
- 43:48Speaker 1: to be around him. But he was actually abusing the
- 43:52Speaker 1: male parishioners. So they're all these layers to it. But
- 43:54Speaker 1: the ballet part, I'm like, I cannot believe these adults
- 43:57Speaker 1: are performing a ballet and they have no you know,
- 44:01Speaker 1: their feet are bloodied because they're dancing for us. It's
- 44:04Speaker 1: like dancing with the stars that's not on television, and
- 44:07Speaker 1: you don't want to be doing it exactly. And they
- 44:10Speaker 1: all think it's part of their enlightenment that they're going
- 44:12Speaker 1: to here get to the clearing part and then they
- 44:15Speaker 1: can like move on to the next level or something like.
- 44:19Speaker 1: Speaking of another one is Heaven's Gate. They have a
- 44:22Speaker 1: documentary on Heaven's Gate on UM it's you know, it's
- 44:27Speaker 1: HBO Max because I interviewed the director. So Heaven's Gate.
- 44:30Speaker 1: You remember that cult? You do remember that colt because
- 44:33Speaker 1: they were the ones that were found in San Juan
- 44:36Speaker 1: Capistrano or something where they were all laying down with
- 44:40Speaker 1: like blankets over their bodies and black sneakers in the nineties.
- 44:45Speaker 1: So the guy that there were as a couple, well
- 44:49Speaker 1: they weren't together, but a man and a woman that
- 44:51Speaker 1: ran this colt and they were convincing people that if
- 44:55Speaker 1: they followed the their their faith, that they would all
- 45:00Speaker 1: move on to the next level, and that meant they
- 45:02Speaker 1: would all basically commit suicide and then they would all
- 45:07Speaker 1: jump on the back of the hail bot bop comet
- 45:10Speaker 1: and move into space, into the next level, and so
- 45:14Speaker 1: he was um. Apparently he had been a teacher at
- 45:18Speaker 1: a at a school and had been in a relationship
- 45:20Speaker 1: with the student and got busted. So he went out
- 45:24Speaker 1: of his way to kind of diminish his sexuality. So
- 45:27Speaker 1: all the people that joined this cult, they were pushed
- 45:31Speaker 1: to be um, like uh, to look without sex. So
- 45:37Speaker 1: it's like they would cut their hair real short into
- 45:39Speaker 1: like bowl cuts, and wear big clothes, and some of
- 45:41Speaker 1: the men castrated themselves and they all and they were
- 45:45Speaker 1: all really smart, so they had jobs and tech i
- 45:47Speaker 1: T so they were making money for the COLT and
- 45:50Speaker 1: they so they all were living in this mansion and
- 45:53Speaker 1: they took drugs and then washed it down with apple sauce.
- 45:56Speaker 1: And they did it in three ships. So the people
- 45:59Speaker 1: that the first people that died, the second group covered
- 46:02Speaker 1: them with the blankets and they all got a discount
- 46:04Speaker 1: on sneakers, so they all wore the same outfits when
- 46:07Speaker 1: they killed themselves. And the guy named Rio who was
- 46:10Speaker 1: in the cold, but he wasn't there, they made sure
- 46:13Speaker 1: that he got a call to come to the house.
- 46:15Speaker 1: So he's the one that came and found all the
- 46:17Speaker 1: dead bodies. So you guys, if you are hooked on
- 46:21Speaker 1: docuseries True Story. Like all of these types of things,
- 46:25Speaker 1: you have to follow k Casey. She has all the goods.
- 46:28Speaker 1: She does so many updates. It makes it so simple
- 46:33Speaker 1: to know what to bend. Thank you for coming on today.
- 46:36Speaker 1: And I have one more I gotta tell you about
- 46:38Speaker 1: because I know that you're gonna like it. You see
- 46:40Speaker 1: The Weight of Gold on HBO. Okay, so I want
- 46:44Speaker 1: you to watch that because Michael Phelps, I believe executive directed. Yes,
- 46:48Speaker 1: I did want to watch it officially came out. It did,
- 46:52Speaker 1: and it's really powerful. It's really powerful. Well, that's for sure.
- 46:56Speaker 1: I'm putting it on my list, and we'll write up
- 46:57Speaker 1: a list for you guys listening of all of you,
- 47:00Speaker 1: so you don't have to miss out on anything yet.
- 47:01Speaker 1: Thank you so much, Kate, I love you, Hi Hi, guys.
- 47:05Speaker 1: To close out the show, I want to kind of
- 47:07Speaker 1: go through every one of my producers on the show,
- 47:12Speaker 1: and let's talk about our highs and lows on your
- 47:15Speaker 1: favorite show of the year and the biggest. Danielle, you
- 47:20Speaker 1: go first, so this is very easy for me. My
- 47:24Speaker 1: high was Emily and Perry. Uh. The reason being you.
- 47:28Speaker 1: I'm obsessed with it. Could not stop watching it. I
- 47:31Speaker 1: think I watched it in a day and a half
- 47:33Speaker 1: and I have no time, so that says a lot.
- 47:35Speaker 1: I loved it so much, and I think the reason
- 47:37Speaker 1: why I loved it is because I'm a big travel
- 47:40Speaker 1: person and I could not travel this year obviously, so
- 47:43Speaker 1: like going to Paris, even if it's just in TV
- 47:48Speaker 1: world was everything for me. I loved it so much.
- 47:52Speaker 1: Um My least favorite is I just felt like there
- 47:56Speaker 1: was so much buzz around Ship's Creek and I, for
- 47:59Speaker 1: the life of me, could not get past past episode four,
- 48:02Speaker 1: like it was just like sorry, not happening. I don't
- 48:06Speaker 1: like it stopped right away. I was like I couldn't
- 48:09Speaker 1: do it. Um. So, yeah, those are my highs and lows.
- 48:13Speaker 1: I guess I'll pass it to Tara. You go next. Okay,
- 48:17Speaker 1: So my highs I did a little throwback and I
- 48:19Speaker 1: started watching Scandal from the beginning and I've never watched it,
- 48:23Speaker 1: um and I'm on season six and I started like
- 48:27Speaker 1: less than a month ago. So that's my high because
- 48:29Speaker 1: I'm obsessed with SHAWNA Rhymes and Big Grays Anatomy fans,
- 48:32Speaker 1: and I love that. Um My low also has to
- 48:36Speaker 1: be Ship's Creek. I got through the first season and
- 48:38Speaker 1: then I just I don't know. I couldn't get through
- 48:41Speaker 1: season two and I just stopped. Teddy, I'm sensing you're
- 48:45Speaker 1: a Ship's Creek fan. No, I wouldn't even try to
- 48:48Speaker 1: watch it. I don't like comedies. People love it so much.
- 48:53Speaker 1: I just like, I don't know why I know, but
- 48:55Speaker 1: justin like gave me a tongue lashing that I need
- 48:57Speaker 1: to watch it. I mean, I think I'll do mine
- 49:01Speaker 1: next and then you've got to go Riley. But like,
- 49:04Speaker 1: I think that my high. I was reminded how much
- 49:09Speaker 1: I loved Morning Show. And I also love the undoing
- 49:13Speaker 1: until the end. But I loved talking about the undoing
- 49:16Speaker 1: with my friends. So for me, a good show is
- 49:19Speaker 1: like you're all talking about it, you have a big opinion,
- 49:22Speaker 1: you can't figure you know, Like we placed like actual
- 49:25Speaker 1: venmo bets on who the killer was, Like it was amazing.
- 49:29Speaker 1: It created like something to talk about that was not
- 49:33Speaker 1: about what's going on in the world around us. And
- 49:35Speaker 1: so that I loved um My low And this is
- 49:39Speaker 1: gonna be sad, especially coming from me. What's the Bachelor
- 49:43Speaker 1: at this season? Why I loved Tatia not not her,
- 49:51Speaker 1: not her. I couldn't switch. It's too hard for me
- 49:55Speaker 1: to have a transition in the middle. I feel that.
- 49:58Speaker 1: And and I I loved her because I loved her
- 50:02Speaker 1: on Bachelor, and I mean Bachelor in Paradise, Like I'm
- 50:06Speaker 1: a fan of her. It's just been having to switch
- 50:09Speaker 1: mid season was really hard for me. What was interesting too,
- 50:13Speaker 1: is like I was I think I was actually talking
- 50:15Speaker 1: to Riley about this, Like literally, when I think back
- 50:18Speaker 1: on Claire, I'm like, that was two years ago, not
- 50:22Speaker 1: a month and a half ago. I haven't I'm not
- 50:25Speaker 1: even up to date. Yeah, I was having a hard time.
- 50:28Speaker 1: I was having and you know, I like DM with
- 50:31Speaker 1: Claire so like I, you know, like her in general.
- 50:33Speaker 1: But I had a hard time with the show. And
- 50:37Speaker 1: then I was like, I don't know that I'm gonna
- 50:38Speaker 1: keep watching and now I have to meet new a
- 50:40Speaker 1: new situation. I'm done, like I and that has never
- 50:44Speaker 1: been made. Like I want a group text that I
- 50:47Speaker 1: could show you guys right now. That's called Batch girls,
- 50:49Speaker 1: and there's nine of us that talk about it. And
- 50:52Speaker 1: like I was like, guys, I'm out this year. I'm out.
- 50:56Speaker 1: I'll catch you at the Bachelor, not James January fourth, Okay,
- 51:03Speaker 1: I'll have to do mine, so um, I would say
- 51:05Speaker 1: my highest. I watched so much Love Island, I watched
- 51:09Speaker 1: the UK, I watch Australia. I watched Us so much
- 51:12Speaker 1: so that my roommate roommate and I were like doing
- 51:16Speaker 1: you know, voices, like British voices or talking accents all
- 51:19Speaker 1: over the place because we had watched it so much. Um,
- 51:21Speaker 1: but I just felt like it was like it felt
- 51:23Speaker 1: like the real world. We could watch Love like it
- 51:25Speaker 1: had a little bit of everything. So I was my
- 51:27Speaker 1: high and then my low. I feel bad for saying,
- 51:31Speaker 1: because you both said it was your high. Emily in Paris,
- 51:34Speaker 1: I might send it. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. You know what,
- 51:39Speaker 1: it's now two against two because somebody else said that
- 51:41Speaker 1: that was their low as well. It just was it
- 51:44Speaker 1: was a little too girly for me. I'm I'm definitely
- 51:47Speaker 1: more of a tomboy. I'd rather watch the Challenge or
- 51:49Speaker 1: something like that. But it was a little too unbelievable,
- 51:52Speaker 1: a little too much social media, and a little too
- 51:54Speaker 1: girly for me. So that was my low. Birm, thanks
- 52:00Speaker 1: are undecided. I feel like we need to have a
- 52:04Speaker 1: like instead of a book club. Here we need to
- 52:06Speaker 1: have a watch list and each watch something that the
- 52:10Speaker 1: other person doesn't actually want to watch, and then we
- 52:12Speaker 1: report back. I love it. Thanks you guys so much
- 52:17Speaker 1: for such a great year. And by the time I
- 52:20Speaker 1: talked to you all next it'll be who I'm ready
- 52:25Speaker 1: for it, believe it. Well, Thanks you guys, Thanks for listening.
- 52:30Speaker 1: Subscribe to any Tea Pot on her radio or wherever
- 52:33Speaker 1: you listen to podcasts.
