- 0:17Speaker 3: It's showtime.
- 0:18Speaker 4: The following feature has been rated R by the Motion
- 0:21Speaker 4: Picture Association of America. It is intended for mature audiences

- 0:28Speaker 1: Our nuclear reactor pumping out one million kilowatts of power.
- 1:14Speaker 1: What's up and welcome to Movie Meltdown. I'm Brian.
- 1:16Speaker 5: I'm Lucy.
- 1:17Speaker 1: And we are coming to you live via digital recording
- 1:19Speaker 1: with our special guest co-host Laura Sanders and Michael Myers.
- 1:23Speaker 6: Hello.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Hello. I guess since it's an audio podcast, we should
- 1:27Speaker 1: specify one of you is not the person you might
- 1:29Speaker 1: think Laura is not Colonel Sanders. Wait, no, that's not.
- 1:34Speaker 1: They are getting a lot of comics to play that.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Do you think you're going to come into play at
- 1:38Speaker 1: some point? The new Colonel Sanders.
- 1:41Speaker 7: Oh, ask Colonel Sanders. I'm hoping I can play Bernie
- 1:43Speaker 7: Sanders at some point myself.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Even better.
- 1:46Speaker 7: I think he's been really doing well lately.
- 1:49Speaker 1: But, Michael, your name is spelled differently. Does that become
- 1:51Speaker 1: an issue?
- 1:52Speaker 3: Yeah, everybody, I mean, anytime I, like, get ID'd, someone
- 1:58Speaker 3: brings it up. Smartass. And, you know, I mean, I
- 2:01Speaker 3: guess it's new to them, but I deal with it
- 2:04Speaker 3: every day.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I was starting to say, you've dealt with it your
- 2:06Speaker 1: whole life, I'm sure.
- 2:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:08Speaker 1: One or the other, whichever one. I mean, one's definitely
- 2:10Speaker 1: way cooler than the other.
- 2:12Speaker 3: I think Halloween was out in the 80, or 1980,
- 2:16Speaker 3: and my mom claims that she didn't think it was
- 2:18Speaker 3: going to be as big of a phenomenon as it was.
- 2:22Speaker 1: You curse her name every day. Damn you, Mom. Well,
- 2:27Speaker 1: usually I'll do a little intro and kind of give
- 2:29Speaker 1: people a good idea of what you guys do. So
- 2:32Speaker 1: I guess I'll leave it up to you how you
- 2:33Speaker 1: want to approach it. Do you want to do like,
- 2:36Speaker 1: how you got into comedy or do you want to
- 2:37Speaker 1: do like road stories? You guys have been on the
- 2:40Speaker 1: road a lot or I don't know what, what's a
- 2:42Speaker 1: good intro for people to, to what you do.
- 2:44Speaker 7: And I go worst bomb.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Yeah, let's do worst bomb.
- 2:48Speaker 5: Okay.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Do you want to go first?
- 2:49Speaker 7: You want me to go first?
- 2:50Speaker 1: I guess we should say you're, you're comedians in case
- 2:53Speaker 1: you haven't been.
- 2:53Speaker 7: We're not bad terrorists.
- 2:57Speaker 3: I'll go first.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Okay.
- 2:58Speaker 3: All right. Well, I guess my worst bomb was I
- 3:01Speaker 3: had a lemon thrown at me.
- 3:04Speaker 1: They came prepared?
- 3:05Speaker 3: Yeah, well.
- 3:07Speaker 1: Was it at some sort of fruit and vegetable rally?
- 3:11Speaker 3: Yeah, so there was a very talkative audience member, and
- 3:19Speaker 3: she was interrupting the entire show. And then I got
- 3:26Speaker 3: up there, and I started to say stuff to her,
- 3:28Speaker 3: and then I noticed that she was recording me.
- 3:31Speaker 6: Nice.
- 3:31Speaker 3: And I asked her why she was recording me, and
- 3:33Speaker 3: she said, because I want something to laugh at later.
- 3:36Speaker 3: And I go, well, you're not laughing now, so clearly
- 3:39Speaker 3: you're going to use that to ridicule me. And then
- 3:43Speaker 3: she kept recording me. So I started to use some
- 3:47Speaker 3: choice words towards her. And an older woman who was
- 3:51Speaker 3: in the bathroom at the time and didn't see the
- 3:53Speaker 3: whole thing transpired only came out at the end to
- 3:58Speaker 3: see me blabbering verbally berating this woman. And then she
- 4:04Speaker 3: grabbed a lemon, which the bartender was cutting up lemons,
- 4:08Speaker 3: and she just grabbed one off the bar. And, like,
- 4:10Speaker 3: I was sitting there, and I could see out of
- 4:12Speaker 3: the light just this object come flying at me, but
- 4:16Speaker 3: it missed way wide. But I actually kept the lemon.
- 4:21Speaker 3: So I have the lemon, and it looks like a
- 4:23Speaker 3: dried-up walnut now.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Nice.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Or just a walnut, I should say.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Yeah, they're all. yeah your whole life you can just
- 4:30Speaker 1: it's all just approved to that old lady wrong.
- 4:33Speaker 3: Yeah i'm throwing but the bartender had my back and
- 4:36Speaker 3: everybody else did because they knew how awful this woman
- 4:39Speaker 3: in the front was and they knew.
- 4:40Speaker 7: How crazy it was to throw lemons to solve problems.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Yeah oh yeah and she did before uh she threw
- 4:47Speaker 3: the lemon she goes you're being mean and then i
- 4:50Speaker 3: saw this lemon flying at me and yeah that's probably.
- 4:53Speaker 7: My worst time to like let her words work. Like
- 4:56Speaker 7: I could see if she's like, you're being mean, let
- 4:59Speaker 7: it pause, let you respond. But she like, it was like,
- 5:01Speaker 7: you're being mean and I'm throwing this lemon at the
- 5:03Speaker 7: same time.
- 5:04Speaker 3: And it should also be stated that, uh, I was
- 5:07Speaker 3: not having a good set. So it was very bad.
- 5:10Speaker 3: Like it was bad on my part. Everybody knew it
- 5:13Speaker 3: was bad. It was just, uh, you know, giving.
- 5:16Speaker 7: You lemons while you're down.
- 5:19Speaker 1: So I guess moving forward, were something similar about to
- 5:22Speaker 1: go down? Would you take a different road now?
- 5:25Speaker 3: What, if I could relive that over again?
- 5:28Speaker 1: Well, not that we should ever wish another bad set
- 5:31Speaker 1: on you, but assuming it's going that way.
- 5:34Speaker 3: There will be plenty of bad sets in my future, but.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Just so you handle it differently now.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I definitely handle it differently. I don't know if
- 5:44Speaker 3: I would change that experience, though, because it's... You needed it?
- 5:48Speaker 3: It's a good experience, and it's a fun memory. And
- 5:52Speaker 3: I still.
- 5:53Speaker 1: And you got that walnut now.
- 5:54Speaker 3: Plus, like, everything, I don't know, it's always a cliche
- 5:57Speaker 3: to throw fruit at a bombing comedian, but I've never
- 6:00Speaker 3: seen it before, and I've never seen it since.
- 6:02Speaker 1: No, me neither.
- 6:03Speaker 7: I was at that show. I was lucky enough to
- 6:05Speaker 7: be there to hear the set and see the... I
- 6:08Speaker 7: don't think I saw just the aftermath of the lemon,
- 6:10Speaker 7: but I feel like I was part of comedy history
- 6:12Speaker 7: to see that done in modern day.
- 6:14Speaker 5: She took a lemon, and she made it a lemon grenade.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 6:17Speaker 3: And then she did apologize afterwards.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Which is rare. Yeah.
- 6:21Speaker 3: But then she apparently kept telling the host how much
- 6:25Speaker 3: funnier her daughter would have been upstage. That's what Danny,
- 6:29Speaker 3: he told me this years later. He's like, yeah, she
- 6:31Speaker 3: kept coming up and making sure that we knew that
- 6:34Speaker 3: we weren't funny and her daughter was much funnier than us.
- 6:37Speaker 1: I think you need to question the other party that
- 6:39Speaker 1: was in the room. Do we really know where Laura was?
- 6:42Speaker 1: Do you have an alibi?
- 6:45Speaker 7: I was her daughter.
- 6:47Speaker 1: And you are funny?
- 6:48Speaker 3: I thought I recognized her mom.
- 6:52Speaker 1: That was it. He was doing too good and you
- 6:55Speaker 1: were threatened. Whipped a lemon in his head.
- 6:57Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 6:58Speaker 7: Keep your enemies close.
- 7:01Speaker 1: In the car with you. Yes.
- 7:03Speaker 3: So, yeah, that's my worst bomb.
- 7:05Speaker 4: All right.
- 7:05Speaker 1: That's a good one. Any fruit in yours?
- 7:08Speaker 7: No fruit, but there was a stripper's. Mine was, I
- 7:13Speaker 7: opened for a male strip show, and they don't want
- 7:16Speaker 7: women there. When a bunch of women are waiting for
- 7:19Speaker 7: a man to just, like, swing their dick around, they don't.
- 7:23Speaker 7: want me talking at all.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Yeah, that's not what they came for.
- 7:26Speaker 7: And so I was supposed to do a half an
- 7:28Speaker 7: hour set, and then I was performing in front of
- 7:32Speaker 7: these women that I've never seen so much hate in
- 7:34Speaker 7: someone's eyes directed at me. And then luckily, because at
- 7:39Speaker 7: first it was the guy who hired me didn't know
- 7:40Speaker 7: the concept of lighting a comedian. to get them off
- 7:43Speaker 7: stage that you can just shine a light and then
- 7:45Speaker 7: we'll know that we're allowed to leave.
- 7:47Speaker 1: So they brought the hook.
- 7:48Speaker 7: Yeah, that's all I wanted, but I was like, I'm
- 7:50Speaker 7: gonna look at these hateful women for 30 minutes if
- 7:52Speaker 7: that's what it takes to get my $ 75.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Yeah, that's my paycheck, damn it.
- 7:57Speaker 7: And so I kept going and then luckily another comic
- 8:00Speaker 7: was there and was like, you don't have to have
- 8:02Speaker 7: her stay up there the whole time. And so I
- 8:03Speaker 7: did about five minutes in an angry cafeteria setting before
- 8:08Speaker 7: I walked off stage and Penetration took the stage. And
- 8:12Speaker 7: they liked him a lot more than me.
- 8:14Speaker 1: I was going to say, is that a code word
- 8:17Speaker 1: or did literal penetration?
- 8:19Speaker 7: His name was Penetration. He gave me his business card.
- 8:24Speaker 7: And he does graduation parties, which was my favorite business card.
- 8:27Speaker 5: Detail.
- 8:29Speaker 7: He had a lot of bullet points. Graduation parties is
- 8:32Speaker 7: one of them. Yeah, all of them. If you need
- 8:36Speaker 7: a dick there... Penetration will bring it to you.
- 8:39Speaker 1: He is your dick. Yeah.
- 8:40Speaker 7: He was very nice, though. He was like, it's hard
- 8:42Speaker 7: out there.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Oh, that should be on his business card.
- 8:49Speaker 6: Oh, man.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Well, I guess how has this tour unfolded? You've done
- 8:54Speaker 1: this before, haven't you?
- 8:56Speaker 7: We haven't traveled together yet. I mean, we've been to
- 8:58Speaker 7: Louisville together last year. But this is like, we have
- 9:02Speaker 7: like four shows in a row and two of the
- 9:04Speaker 7: four have happened and they've gone well.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 9:06Speaker 7: Last night we were in Indianapolis and it was super fun.
- 9:09Speaker 7: And Columbus tree bars, Columbus was always, is always super fun.
- 9:13Speaker 1: So. Yeah.
- 9:15Speaker 7: We've been eating pie and watching movies. So I can't complain.
- 9:18Speaker 3: A nice piece of pie today.
- 9:19Speaker 1: It is pie day. Yeah. For those of you in
- 9:22Speaker 1: the future.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:24Speaker 1: You missed it. Yeah.
- 9:26Speaker 3: So yeah, it's been good. But it's just we recorded
- 9:29Speaker 3: albums together, so they are out. And then we decided
- 9:32Speaker 3: to go on a couple shows to promote them.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Recreate that live event. Yeah.
- 9:39Speaker 7: And tell new jokes because we were very sick of
- 9:41Speaker 7: the album jokes.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:43Speaker 7: So those are recorded and you can buy them and
- 9:44Speaker 7: hear them now. And if you see us live, you
- 9:46Speaker 7: won't hear them anymore.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:49Speaker 4: Refresh yourself.
- 9:50Speaker 3: It's intermission time.
- 9:52Speaker 4: The concession stand is open and ready to serve you.
- 9:58Speaker 4: Imagine it's 1944.
- 10:00Speaker 1: 1944.
- 10:00Speaker 4: Imagine you're in a small room about the size of
- 10:02Speaker 4: a closet. It's dark. There's no air moving. You're in
- 10:07Speaker 4: that room with a half dozen other people, people you've
- 10:09Speaker 4: known only a few days. The loudest sound you hear
- 10:12Speaker 4: is your own heartbeat. If you or any of the
- 10:15Speaker 4: others in that room make a sound, your life will
- 10:18Speaker 4: probably end. Outside, the people who own the home, the
- 10:22Speaker 4: people who have helped you hide, are about to be
- 10:24Speaker 4: taken to a concentration camp for helping you, for caring.
- 10:28Speaker 4: You're experiencing The Hiding Place, a new motion picture, a

- 12:02Speaker 2: Get more out of life.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Go out.
- 12:10Speaker 3: To a movie. Out of town.
- 12:12Speaker 6: Out of town. Out of the night.
- 12:16Speaker 1: Out of town.
- 12:35Speaker 5: What are you going to do to me?
- 12:38Speaker 6: I'm going to keep you alive.
- 12:41Speaker 1: You were in an accident.
- 12:44Speaker 9: And I saved your life by bringing you here.
- 12:46Speaker 6: And everyone outside of here is dead.
- 12:50Speaker 7: What happened to your arm?
- 12:51Speaker 1: Were you trying to escape? I was trying to get in.
- 12:54Speaker 6: What was that?
- 12:56Speaker 4: Quiet.
- 12:56Speaker 5: How do you know that this is real?
- 13:02Speaker 2: They're going to get all of us killed!
- 13:10Speaker 5: No!
- 13:10Speaker 2: Don't open that door!
- 13:17Speaker 1: Something's coming.
- 13:18Speaker 6: No!
- 13:21Speaker 4: Where danger happens.
- 13:22Speaker 2: The jungle.
- 13:24Speaker 7: I'll take you captive.
- 13:26Speaker 1: The jungle.
- 13:28Speaker 4: Where danger happens.
- 13:30Speaker 1: The jungle. I'll take you captive. Come take a ride
- 13:35Speaker 1: with this wild thing. Yeah.
- 13:37Speaker 7: I'm your tour guide for this wild safari.
- 13:40Speaker 1: I'm trying to take you where my heart is.
- 13:44Speaker 5: Babe.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Not like them other journeys. So far from ordinary.
- 13:49Speaker 9: I can you're coming with me boy no need to resist.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Is there any other things we want to get to
- 14:37Speaker 1: before the meeting?
- 14:39Speaker 7: All I'm thinking about is the movie right now. We
- 14:41Speaker 7: just saw it.
- 14:41Speaker 1: That's true. You guys just got it.
- 14:42Speaker 7: We saw it and then drove over here.
- 14:45Speaker 3: I'm still very anxious from the movie.
- 14:47Speaker 7: Yeah, I was stressed out.
- 14:49Speaker 1: That's a good sign.
- 14:51Speaker 7: Yeah, I was real stressed out. I had to change defensive.
- 14:54Speaker 7: I have a few defensive positions when I'm watching scary movies,
- 14:57Speaker 7: and I had to use all of them.
- 14:59Speaker 3: You were very animated watching the movie.
- 15:01Speaker 7: I react strongly to scary movies, especially because we're all
- 15:04Speaker 7: trying to be professional, so I can't grab onto people
- 15:06Speaker 7: next to me. So I was very self-contained. And a
- 15:11Speaker 7: lot of, like, you know, hand gestures.
- 15:13Speaker 3: I just did a lot of face rubbing. Like, aggressive
- 15:17Speaker 3: face rubbing.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Like, oh, boy.
- 15:20Speaker 5: All right.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Well, we did go. It's a big deal when we
- 15:23Speaker 1: actually go to the house and go out on the town.
- 15:25Speaker 1: So this week's out on the town feature was 10
- 15:28Speaker 1: Cloverfield Lane. The year is 2016. The director is Dan Trachtenberg,
- 15:34Speaker 1: which I will note right up front, podcaster. It's been
- 15:37Speaker 1: a good many years podcasting, so see, we can turn
- 15:40Speaker 1: into something. Somebody please tell my family. And the plot,
- 15:44Speaker 1: according to IMDb, is after getting in a car accident,
- 15:47Speaker 1: a woman is held in a shelter with two men
- 15:49Speaker 1: who claims the outside world is affected by a widespread
- 15:52Speaker 1: chemical attack. Spoiler alert, we're going to ruin the hell
- 15:55Speaker 1: out of this. And it's relatively new, so fair warning,
- 15:58Speaker 1: you're supposed to have gone and seen it beforehand. I
- 16:02Speaker 1: guess beforehand. Before we get into it, I was going
- 16:04Speaker 1: to ask everybody, did everybody see Cloverfield? No.
- 16:08Speaker 2: No.
- 16:09Speaker 1: All right. Yes. That was going to be my point,
- 16:13Speaker 1: is it's a very different movie if you haven't seen Cloverfield,
- 16:18Speaker 1: especially if you don't even know what Cloverfield was. If
- 16:20Speaker 1: you just turn this on in the middle of the
- 16:22Speaker 1: night on cable and start watching it, you're going to
- 16:24Speaker 1: get to the end and be like, oh, shit. It's
- 16:26Speaker 1: going to be a whole different experience for you.
- 16:29Speaker 7: I knew the gist of Cloverfield going in, that it wasn't.
- 16:33Speaker 7: that there was a supernatural element to Cloverfield. But yeah,
- 16:36Speaker 7: other than that, I didn't.
- 16:37Speaker 1: Really know much about it.
- 16:38Speaker 7: But if you need to spoil Cloverfield at this point,
- 16:40Speaker 7: that's fine. I give full permission.
- 16:42Speaker 1: I mean, if you get to the end of this movie,
- 16:44Speaker 1: it's spoiled for you. I mean, the fact that it
- 16:47Speaker 1: happens pretty early on in Cloverfield that there's giant creatures
- 16:50Speaker 1: that show up on Earth. We're not really... Actually, in Cloverfield,
- 16:54Speaker 1: because I did rewatch it going into this weekend, and
- 16:57Speaker 1: I was like, they never pin down where or what.
- 16:59Speaker 1: There's no real backstory. It's all like told... cinema verite
- 17:03Speaker 1: style like found literally they bring up the footage that
- 17:06Speaker 1: they found they say where they found it after the
- 17:08Speaker 1: fact so like we're watching it through home video type
- 17:11Speaker 1: stuff and they're um during that like t.j miller for
- 17:15Speaker 1: other comics out there is supposedly uh he literally is
- 17:18Speaker 1: the guy holding the camera in there but you hear
- 17:20Speaker 1: a lot of him talking behind the camera the whole
- 17:22Speaker 1: time and he's the one that throws out all the
- 17:24Speaker 1: theories so i just listening to it like immediately they
- 17:27Speaker 1: kind of jump to whether or not it's aliens from
- 17:29Speaker 1: space At one point, he has the theory that they
- 17:32Speaker 1: come up from a crevasse out of the ocean, which
- 17:35Speaker 1: I was like, isn't that the last in the Del
- 17:38Speaker 1: Toro movie?
- 17:39Speaker 7: Oh, it was Pacific Rim?
- 17:40Speaker 1: Yeah, something like that. Before Pacific Rim came out, he
- 17:43Speaker 1: threw out the... So I wonder if they knew and
- 17:45Speaker 1: made a joke about it, because it was probably already
- 17:47Speaker 1: in production at that point. And then somewhere before the end,
- 17:51Speaker 1: he throws out, like, while they're running around, he's just
- 17:53Speaker 1: making conversation, because he's T.J. Miller, and that's what he does.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Talks constantly. So he's like... I don't know, maybe it's
- 17:59Speaker 1: like government made them or something and these are some
- 18:01Speaker 1: secret thing gone wrong. So he throws out a lot
- 18:03Speaker 1: of these options, which now it seems like we're leaning
- 18:07Speaker 1: more towards One Direction with this new one. But again,
- 18:10Speaker 1: we never really have the full story.
- 18:12Speaker 3: Are the creatures the same?
- 18:13Speaker 1: No, totally different creatures, which I thought was kind of interesting.
- 18:17Speaker 1: It's very different than the jaguar worm that we get.
- 18:21Speaker 7: Is this supposed to be before or after Cloverfield? Or
- 18:25Speaker 7: we're not supposed to know?
- 18:26Speaker 1: I mean, I think it's, Just around that time.
- 18:29Speaker 7: Okay, same time.
- 18:31Speaker 1: Yeah. Different area. Right after, I suppose, because we're getting, well, again,
- 18:36Speaker 1: depends on how you look at it. We're watching footage
- 18:38Speaker 1: from way after the fact because it's somebody going through
- 18:41Speaker 1: and cataloging all the stuff, but the actual footage we're
- 18:44Speaker 1: watching is like it happens during them filming. They're having
- 18:47Speaker 1: a party, and they're filming the party, and midway in...
- 18:50Speaker 1: There's just this explosion and giant monster attacks the city.
- 18:53Speaker 1: So it literally happens during the filming of the first one.
- 18:57Speaker 1: So now we're assuming at the gas station is probably
- 19:00Speaker 1: around that same time in this one. And then from
- 19:03Speaker 1: that point on is after the fact a little, but
- 19:05Speaker 1: we don't know the time frame really.
- 19:06Speaker 5: Is there time stamping on the video? I don't remember
- 19:08Speaker 5: Cloverfield at all. I'm in essentially the same situation you're in.
- 19:13Speaker 1: They give you time.
- 19:14Speaker 5: Except I lost two hours of my life.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Jay-like kind of thing. But it's all over a 12-hour period.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Because I think he even says at the end of
- 19:21Speaker 1: it when he's wrapping up, he's like, approximately 12 hours
- 19:23Speaker 1: ago this happened. So it's all within that span of time.
- 19:27Speaker 1: And they just give you a time when it starts
- 19:29Speaker 1: and when it comes back around.
- 19:30Speaker 5: But there's not like a year ascribed.
- 19:31Speaker 1: But it's... No, but again, I think that was just
- 19:34Speaker 1: to not date it immediately. So, but yeah, so I, yeah,
- 19:39Speaker 1: that was my take is how everybody was approaching it
- 19:42Speaker 1: because I feel like it's a very different experience if you,
- 19:45Speaker 1: because it's almost like you're, going along for the ride
- 19:48Speaker 1: if you haven't seen the other one because he could
- 19:50Speaker 1: be a crazy person that's just capturing her.
- 19:53Speaker 7: I think he was.
- 19:54Speaker 1: He was.
- 19:56Speaker 7: No matter the circumstance, whether or not those aliens were real,
- 19:59Speaker 7: he was in fact a crazy person.
- 20:00Speaker 1: He was a crazy person. But again, we go through
- 20:02Speaker 1: these several reveals, but truth be told, either way, you
- 20:07Speaker 1: could have gotten to the end and he was making
- 20:08Speaker 1: it all up and she was just safe and drove away.
- 20:10Speaker 1: But the fact that... people who saw the first one
- 20:13Speaker 1: are like, well, obviously this is after that other one.
- 20:16Speaker 1: And there's some, there really is some sort of alien
- 20:17Speaker 1: out there.
- 20:18Speaker 3: But I thought that like in watching the movie, cause
- 20:20Speaker 3: I knew that it wasn't really related to the original
- 20:24Speaker 3: in terms of a plot. But like, uh, I thought
- 20:28Speaker 3: that maybe they had called it Cloverfield so that you,
- 20:32Speaker 3: it's like related only in name so that when you're
- 20:35Speaker 3: watching it, you're always guessing whether or not this is
- 20:37Speaker 3: a real thing that's happening or if it's just like this, uh,
- 20:41Speaker 3: like psychological trick.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Which is still kind of, you know, I mean, it's
- 20:45Speaker 1: all sort of what you want to do with it.
- 20:47Speaker 7: When she first got out of the bunker, I really
- 20:50Speaker 7: was like, oh, maybe this is the end. I'm very optimistic.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Well, I thought, I was like, this seems a little
- 20:56Speaker 1: early for it to be the end. I'm assuming we're
- 20:58Speaker 1: going to get some sort of aliens in a minute here.
- 21:00Speaker 7: And you were so right.
- 21:04Speaker 1: We were trying to not talk about it earlier. Lucy,
- 21:06Speaker 1: which way did you go with it? I was trying
- 21:08Speaker 1: to decide your take on it.
- 21:10Speaker 5: I mean, that's a lot to kind of jump into.
- 21:14Speaker 5: My thumbs up or my thumbs down?
- 21:16Speaker 1: We can start there.
- 21:17Speaker 5: My thumb was solidly up until the third act, and
- 21:20Speaker 5: then it was as down as it could possibly go.
- 21:23Speaker 3: When the aliens came?
- 21:24Speaker 5: When the aliens came. It just turned into a crazy
- 21:28Speaker 5: shit show of CGI. I felt like the thing that
- 21:31Speaker 5: was sort of problematic about the movie generally was that
- 21:34Speaker 5: there wasn't a lot of emotional resonance. Like it was
- 21:36Speaker 5: like buildup of sort of scenes and then like this
- 21:39Speaker 5: very quick sort of denouement and then it would move
- 21:42Speaker 5: on to the next thing and then that would be resolved.
- 21:44Speaker 5: Like Emmett, like all of a sudden that's resolved in
- 21:46Speaker 5: like the craziest, most rapid, literal rapid fire way possible.
- 21:50Speaker 5: And then you get out and we've just had time
- 21:54Speaker 5: to like assimilate to the destruction of John Goodman's character,
- 21:58Speaker 5: who's been sort of the center of the plot all along.
- 22:00Speaker 5: And then, oh, by the way, there's Aliens. And I
- 22:02Speaker 5: think she even says at some point, like, really or
- 22:05Speaker 5: seriously or something like that. And it's just like, oh, yes,
- 22:08Speaker 5: thank you for speaking for all of us. Because then
- 22:11Speaker 5: it just turns into this whole completely different movie.
- 22:13Speaker 3: I did have that same thought because it was kind
- 22:16Speaker 3: of like. Because it's like gravity almost where the anxiety
- 22:21Speaker 3: never ends. And you're just like, God, she got back
- 22:24Speaker 3: on Earth and now she's drowning.
- 22:25Speaker 1: In the mud.
- 22:26Speaker 5: Surely it'll be a shark.
- 22:28Speaker 3: Yeah, and then it's like, oh, she got out and
- 22:29Speaker 3: she can breathe the air. And now there's a giant
- 22:32Speaker 3: space monster.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Don't you hate when that happens? I kind of liked
- 22:37Speaker 1: that addition to it just because I feel like without
- 22:42Speaker 1: that third act what's the point like you're you're setting
- 22:45Speaker 1: up to be something you kind of need a payoff
- 22:47Speaker 1: at the end otherwise you get that like well wait
- 22:50Speaker 1: that that's it he was just a crazy person like
- 22:52Speaker 1: i feel like it's gonna be uneven if she just
- 22:54Speaker 1: gets so out and drives away and there's no aliens
- 22:56Speaker 1: i feel like.
- 22:56Speaker 7: There was a big payoff for her when she escaped
- 22:58Speaker 7: that murder guy but like murder that was like plenty
- 23:02Speaker 7: of payoff that she's like wow i survived uh Murder guy,
- 23:07Speaker 7: a pool of acid, a giant explosion.
- 23:10Speaker 3: I had to make my own gas mask.
- 23:13Speaker 7: And then it's like, did you even try before the aliens?
- 23:15Speaker 1: Did you even do anything? No. You just need to
- 23:20Speaker 1: fight aliens immediately.
- 23:22Speaker 7: Also, can we just note what kind of MacGyver descendant
- 23:26Speaker 7: she was that she was so good at problem solving?
- 23:28Speaker 7: You were like, she was a MacGyver right after.
- 23:30Speaker 3: Like the Molotov cocktail at the end in a car
- 23:34Speaker 3: that's about to be eaten. was insane. Just the rapid
- 23:39Speaker 3: fire thought of that.
- 23:40Speaker 7: Yeah, I would never. I thought you were just going
- 23:42Speaker 7: to grab it.
- 23:42Speaker 1: I would have just grabbed that and been like, well,
- 23:44Speaker 1: might as well be drunk. I don't know if that's
- 23:48Speaker 1: going to save you, but it'll dull it a little.
- 23:51Speaker 1: I guess we can kind of address the cast, because
- 23:53Speaker 1: I thought the cast was amazing. That's Mary Elizabeth Winstead,
- 23:57Speaker 1: which I didn't realize I've watched her so much over
- 24:01Speaker 1: the years. Then going back, and I'm like, oh yeah,
- 24:03Speaker 1: she was in that. Oh yeah, I really kind of
- 24:06Speaker 1: was paying, we did a whole episode on that thing,
- 24:09Speaker 1: that pre-thing, whatever the hell that was, which she is
- 24:11Speaker 1: the best part of that. She is kind of what
- 24:14Speaker 1: makes that okay. Her performance makes it, most people hate
- 24:20Speaker 1: it anyway. I think there's good aspects to it. I
- 24:23Speaker 1: don't know that it was necessary, but I think she
- 24:25Speaker 1: makes it better than what it could have been. But
- 24:29Speaker 1: then looking back, it's like, I hadn't watched Scott Pilgrim initially,
- 24:34Speaker 1: and I just watched it like in the last year
- 24:36Speaker 1: or so when I already knew who she was. I
- 24:38Speaker 1: forgot she's in Death Proof, which now I'm going to
- 24:43Speaker 1: have to go re-watch Death Proof.
- 24:44Speaker 5: I feel like that's the only thing I would recognize
- 24:46Speaker 5: her from, but I don't remember her.
- 24:47Speaker 1: How did I forget she's the one in the cheerleader outfit,
- 24:50Speaker 1: for God's sakes?
- 24:51Speaker 7: I remembered her in Scott Pilgrim, but I've never seen
- 24:53Speaker 7: Death Proof, and I was like, really?
- 24:54Speaker 1: It's got problems, but now I guess I'm going to
- 24:57Speaker 1: have to re-watch it just to... I forgot about that, too. Yeah.
- 25:01Speaker 3: I like Death Proof.
- 25:02Speaker 7: What is that one?
- 25:04Speaker 3: That's a Kurt Russell movie.
- 25:05Speaker 7: Oh, I'll watch it then, just for you.
- 25:08Speaker 3: She asked what we wanted to talk about, and I said,
- 25:10Speaker 3: I really like Kurt Russell.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Have you seen Bone Tomahawk? And he's like, anything Kurt Russell?
- 25:14Speaker 7: And I was like, I haven't seen anything with Kurt
- 25:16Speaker 7: Russell in it.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Have you seen Bone Tomahawk?
- 25:18Speaker 3: Have I seen what?
- 25:19Speaker 1: Bone Tomahawk?
- 25:22Speaker 3: That's on Netflix now?
- 25:23Speaker 1: Put it right on the top of your list.
- 25:25Speaker 3: Okay, yeah.
- 25:26Speaker 1: I mean, it plays kind of like Kurt in a
- 25:27Speaker 1: standard Western, and then it's not. So it's worth watching.
- 25:31Speaker 3: I'll watch it.
- 25:32Speaker 7: I did see Death Proof, and I'm sorry.
- 25:33Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 25:36Speaker 7: I forgot that it was called Death Proof. I call
- 25:37Speaker 7: it Grindhouse.
- 25:39Speaker 3: Well, yeah, it was part of Grindhouse.
- 25:40Speaker 1: It was half of it. So, yeah, I think she
- 25:43Speaker 1: does a great job and is a super smart hero
- 25:46Speaker 1: for this little story that, like, you've don't really know
- 25:50Speaker 1: that's what we're getting into midway in and you don't
- 25:52Speaker 1: really she doesn't have any idea what she's in for
- 25:55Speaker 1: what i've realized is we you just don't want to
- 25:57Speaker 1: wake up after a horrible apocalypse has happened like it
- 26:00Speaker 1: seems to be running theme through all these different little
- 26:03Speaker 1: weird genre stories it's like 28 days later walking dead
- 26:08Speaker 1: this one it's like you wake up you're in some
- 26:10Speaker 1: sort of hospital scenario and everything has gone horribly wrong
- 26:13Speaker 1: with your planet.
- 26:14Speaker 3: Yeah i'm It's not a good thing. See, those are
- 26:17Speaker 3: the things that I think about when I watch those movies.
- 26:20Speaker 3: It's like, I don't know if I would want someone
- 26:23Speaker 3: to save me.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Like, I would rather just die.
- 26:26Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:27Speaker 5: And that's the brilliant thesis of this film, because I
- 26:29Speaker 5: don't think that I'd really extrapolated, like, what happens. Like,
- 26:32Speaker 5: all of these people, these survivalists, like, if the apocalypse happens...
- 26:37Speaker 5: then we're going to have a world of survivalists. And
- 26:39Speaker 5: that's going to be the craziest fucking world ever.
- 26:41Speaker 1: I know a few people that fall into that category.
- 26:44Speaker 1: And I was like, I will question them occasionally. I'm like,
- 26:48Speaker 1: what is going to be left for you to bother
- 26:50Speaker 1: being in your bunker with at the end of it?
- 26:52Speaker 1: I'm like, if you're the one that like... is the
- 26:55Speaker 1: only one left, and you've stockpiled your canned goods. And
- 26:57Speaker 1: I'm like, what are you waiting for? How is it
- 26:59Speaker 1: going to be any better than just getting taken out
- 27:01Speaker 1: with everybody else?
- 27:02Speaker 7: Yeah, and I feel like people are like, oh, well,
- 27:04Speaker 7: we have to survive to repopulate the Earth because we
- 27:06Speaker 7: need to save the Earth. But I'm like, the Earth
- 27:08Speaker 7: will be fine without humans.
- 27:09Speaker 1: That's actually the best thing that could happen to this
- 27:13Speaker 1: planet is get rid of the damn humans.
- 27:14Speaker 3: Right, maybe the Earth is like, no, you guys need
- 27:17Speaker 3: to go.
- 27:17Speaker 7: Please, just go. It's not the Earth is like, where
- 27:22Speaker 7: did all my humans go? It'll still be a rock.
- 27:26Speaker 1: It'll be like, finally, I can get back to business.
- 27:27Speaker 3: I may have a theory on what the aliens were
- 27:30Speaker 3: doing now. Earth is like, look, I can't physically kill
- 27:34Speaker 3: these humans, so they called out for their alien friends
- 27:37Speaker 3: and be like, these guys are really like.
- 27:39Speaker 7: The rock is like friends with these aliens.
- 27:42Speaker 1: It's like a whale and it puts out a sonic
- 27:44Speaker 1: thing and other aliens off in a distant galaxy are
- 27:47Speaker 1: just like, oh, they need us.
- 27:49Speaker 3: And they're like, oh, man, Fred needs us. Earth is
- 27:52Speaker 3: actually called Fred. His name isn't even Earth.
- 27:54Speaker 7: We've just been calling him Earth all this time. And
- 27:55Speaker 7: he's like, my name is Fred. If you stand on me,
- 27:58Speaker 7: on my face one more time and call me Earth,
- 27:59Speaker 7: please just so help me.
- 28:01Speaker 1: These idiots are not only destroying him, they don't even
- 28:03Speaker 1: know his name. That's probably what it was.
- 28:07Speaker 7: You just solved it.
- 28:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I think so. Well, I actually talked to J.J.
- 28:12Speaker 3: Abrams before this.
- 28:13Speaker 1: He called you. Get some pointers. I'm sweet of him.
- 28:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 28:18Speaker 1: So yeah, I think it does become more of a
- 28:20Speaker 1: character piece in that middle part there. I will agree
- 28:24Speaker 1: with you, Lucy. There are moments when I'm like, how
- 28:26Speaker 1: are we going to get back? I think by the end,
- 28:28Speaker 1: it's too far gone. It's just, by that last one
- 28:31Speaker 1: when we've killed Emmett, it's just, it's normal in quotes
- 28:34Speaker 1: for John Goodman's character maybe, but she already, she knows,
- 28:38Speaker 1: she's just, dead or wishes she was dead. There's no
- 28:40Speaker 1: coming back to normal for her. The one that I
- 28:42Speaker 1: was just like, after she hits him with a bottle
- 28:45Speaker 1: and then they go back to life as normal, I
- 28:47Speaker 1: was like, wait a minute. That seems.
- 28:50Speaker 3: See, but I thought that that was good because it
- 28:52Speaker 3: kind of showed, it made you think that John Goodman
- 28:55Speaker 3: was a very kind and forgiving person.
- 28:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 28:57Speaker 3: So he was like, he's like, look, I realize that
- 29:00Speaker 3: you might be paranoid about what's going on, but I'm
- 29:03Speaker 3: telling you the truth. So I understand why you did that.
- 29:07Speaker 3: but now you know that I'm not lying and you
- 29:10Speaker 3: can love me now.
- 29:11Speaker 7: Yeah, I feel like he was like, I gotta forgive you. One,
- 29:15Speaker 7: because like, I'll show that I'm understanding and that you're scared.
- 29:18Speaker 7: And two, you're my only woman left to trap into
- 29:21Speaker 7: being a wife.
- 29:22Speaker 1: You're the last woman on the planet.
- 29:25Speaker 7: I realize we got in a fight, but breaking up
- 29:28Speaker 7: isn't an option. So I'm going to wait and force
- 29:30Speaker 7: you to be my young bride.
- 29:31Speaker 5: And my temper really messed things up with the last
- 29:34Speaker 5: one here.
- 29:35Speaker 9: Yes, exactly.
- 29:35Speaker 5: So I'm going to take my time with you.
- 29:36Speaker 1: He's recreating the call from the beginning. Look, we had
- 29:39Speaker 1: a fight a couple of have fights. You don't have
- 29:40Speaker 1: to go. You don't have to run out with the
- 29:42Speaker 1: dead pigs. It's okay. Just come back inside.
- 29:45Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 29:45Speaker 3: Do you think that that was like a convenient coincidence though?
- 29:49Speaker 3: The end of the, like the aliens coming? Like, He
- 29:52Speaker 3: had probably just built the bunker to trap people.
- 29:55Speaker 1: I think so. I mean, as we get into it,
- 29:58Speaker 1: we find he'd already done this. So I think maybe
- 30:00Speaker 1: it was all of it. I started to feel like
- 30:03Speaker 1: he is a crazy survivalist. He started putting the bunker together. Now,
- 30:06Speaker 1: midway in, he also decided, you know, I've got this
- 30:09Speaker 1: thing just sitting here. That girl that lives down the
- 30:12Speaker 1: street there, because the daughter leaves, so he already has
- 30:15Speaker 1: nothing else in his life, and he starts getting crazier.
- 30:17Speaker 1: If the daughter existed at all. That's arguable, but they
- 30:21Speaker 1: had a.
- 30:21Speaker 3: I thought that Emmett was like, that's not Megan.
- 30:24Speaker 1: His daughter. Like they really did. Megan was a real person.
- 30:27Speaker 6: I guess.
- 30:28Speaker 1: I mean, that would be like why he would be
- 30:31Speaker 1: sort of normal at some point. And then when wife
- 30:34Speaker 1: and daughter are gone, he's left to be crazy by
- 30:37Speaker 1: himself and drive himself crazy again. Oh, like he wanted
- 30:39Speaker 1: a family down there. Or he wanted this little girl
- 30:42Speaker 1: in his life, and it became this replacing this little girl.
- 30:45Speaker 7: I don't think he was replacing her to be his daughter.
- 30:48Speaker 1: No, I don't think he was either. But I think
- 30:50Speaker 1: that's a fine line. When you start going that crazy,
- 30:53Speaker 1: it's like... Because that's how he always referred to it. That,
- 30:56Speaker 1: I thought, was one of the cute little clues they
- 30:59Speaker 1: put in there when... they're playing that game and he
- 31:02Speaker 1: refers to it as a little princess he would never
- 31:04Speaker 1: even call her a woman she was a girl at
- 31:06Speaker 1: most but by the end he said little princess but
- 31:08Speaker 1: then i'm like oh he's.
- 31:10Speaker 7: Creepy super creepy because i guess little princess but that
- 31:12Speaker 7: doesn't mean like i only look at you as a
- 31:14Speaker 7: little girl because then he like shaved after he murdered
- 31:17Speaker 7: emmet and like tried to be all like okay it's
- 31:19Speaker 7: date night let's have dessert first let's be like spontaneous.
- 31:22Speaker 1: That's still very parental, though. So again, I think there's
- 31:26Speaker 1: a way, or maybe.
- 31:26Speaker 7: It is not parental to become more attractive after you
- 31:29Speaker 7: murder a man in front of your daughter.
- 31:30Speaker 1: It's not? Wait a minute. Every time I'm... I mean,
- 31:34Speaker 1: never mind.
- 31:34Speaker 7: That is bad parenting.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Well, again, now I'm like, maybe that wasn't something that
- 31:40Speaker 1: just started happening once they left town. Maybe that's why
- 31:43Speaker 1: mom and the daughter left. I mean, we don't know
- 31:46Speaker 1: how disturbed this dude is. So maybe it's always been,
- 31:49Speaker 1: there's no line there. Maybe dad and... i'm with you
- 31:53Speaker 1: is all the same thing in his creepy creepy mind so.
- 31:56Speaker 3: We don't know that much about it the movie to
- 31:59Speaker 3: me was just completely insane though because it was like
- 32:03Speaker 3: it was i said two movies wrapped up into one
- 32:06Speaker 3: it was so.
- 32:07Speaker 1: Many more it's more like three or at least three
- 32:10Speaker 1: or four because.
- 32:11Speaker 7: There's like trapped in a murderer's house movie there's.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Like Alien movie. Their survival is making good into the
- 32:19Speaker 1: world because that middle part, they're almost okay for like 15,
- 32:23Speaker 1: 20 minutes. There's a span of them like, all right,
- 32:25Speaker 1: we're going to make the best of it. And you're like, well, okay,
- 32:29Speaker 1: I guess this could work if you want to be
- 32:31Speaker 1: trapped like this forever. Okay. So like John Goodman's not
- 32:35Speaker 1: as creepy for 15 or 20 minutes. And you're like,
- 32:37Speaker 1: maybe he was just, no.
- 32:38Speaker 6: He's creepy.
- 32:39Speaker 7: There was like potential indie romance movie between Annette and Michelle.
- 32:43Speaker 1: I think we all knew that wasn't going to be
- 32:44Speaker 1: allowed regardless. That's the thought. I feel like it was,
- 32:48Speaker 1: he started out so creepy and he had to make
- 32:52Speaker 1: that turnaround. So that's why I was never really like
- 32:54Speaker 1: suckered back into being like, no, he's just misunderstood. Like
- 32:58Speaker 1: you get that moment of like him getting out the
- 33:00Speaker 1: daughter's photo and you can feel like he's almost trying
- 33:03Speaker 1: to do that because he was. But I feel like
- 33:05Speaker 1: they started so mean and hostile with him that like,
- 33:09Speaker 1: He always just came off as creepy and overbearing to
- 33:11Speaker 1: me that like more so than a normal crazy survivalist,
- 33:15Speaker 1: which we find out he certainly is by the end
- 33:18Speaker 1: of it. So, yeah, I don't know. I feel like
- 33:21Speaker 1: it never got back to that. You never would have
- 33:23Speaker 1: trusted him again. I never, yeah, I never trusted him
- 33:25Speaker 1: even just as a character. I was like, this guy's,
- 33:28Speaker 1: he's too creepy. There's something up with this. I felt
- 33:30Speaker 1: like there was another reveal coming somewhere down there.
- 33:33Speaker 5: See, I was hoping that the reveal was going to
- 33:34Speaker 5: be that Emmett was the bad guy.
- 33:36Speaker 7: That's what I was thinking.
- 33:37Speaker 5: And that he was misleading her and convincing her that
- 33:39Speaker 5: there was this girl and there wasn't. That that really
- 33:41Speaker 5: was the daughter and that it really was a sweet story.
- 33:43Speaker 7: Oh, I was thinking that Emmett was the bad guy,
- 33:46Speaker 7: but he literally murdered the young girl. They were in
- 33:48Speaker 7: it together somehow.
- 33:49Speaker 5: Yes, yes, yes. Well, I didn't think they were together,
- 33:51Speaker 5: but I did hope that that's what had happened.
- 33:52Speaker 7: That he was framing Jonathan.
- 33:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:54Speaker 5: And then he was not, she was going to turn
- 33:56Speaker 5: her against John Goodman. And then they were going to
- 33:57Speaker 5: attack John Goodman.
- 33:58Speaker 7: And then he ends up being the bad guy.
- 33:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:00Speaker 1: That's where I was.
- 34:00Speaker 3: That would have been pretty, pretty sneaky. Oh man.
- 34:03Speaker 1: That would have been a really good.
- 34:04Speaker 5: I think we just wrote a better movie.
- 34:05Speaker 7: Maybe we should work on that.
- 34:07Speaker 1: Hollywood. Yeah.
- 34:08Speaker 5: Cloverfield three.
- 34:09Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 34:09Speaker 1: That can happen. But nope.
- 34:12Speaker 5: John Goodman.
- 34:12Speaker 7: John Goodman though is a fantastic villain because he is
- 34:16Speaker 7: a man that I want to love so much and do.
- 34:18Speaker 7: And so whenever he plays a creepy character, I love
- 34:21Speaker 7: it a lot. Like his short temperness and his, oh,
- 34:24Speaker 7: he was just so spooky all the time. Even when
- 34:26Speaker 7: he was being nice, you're like, and his subtleness, because
- 34:28Speaker 7: I feel like a lot of villains, they make me
- 34:30Speaker 7: like very villainous right away. But just when he was
- 34:33Speaker 7: like trying to keep his patience at the dinner table
- 34:35Speaker 7: and trying to keep everything just so, you're like, ooh,
- 34:37Speaker 7: he is.
- 34:38Speaker 3: Plus, like you were saying, he's just a, as a person,
- 34:42Speaker 3: he's just a big, powerful person. You could see like
- 34:46Speaker 3: if he got mad. I feel like he could just
- 34:49Speaker 3: crush your throat.
- 34:50Speaker 1: He could just pummel Emmett if he wanted to, even
- 34:52Speaker 1: without the way that he went out. Yeah, totally. Again,
- 34:58Speaker 1: as much as I didn't trust his character, John Grimman's
- 35:00Speaker 1: performance was amazing because he does feel like such a
- 35:04Speaker 1: real guy, which is what I thought was always so
- 35:07Speaker 1: good about him, even on something as normal as Roseanne.
- 35:10Speaker 1: You bought him as a real person in the world,
- 35:14Speaker 1: and even when he gets in this weird scenario, you're like,
- 35:17Speaker 1: you still kind of believe him as a real person.
- 35:19Speaker 1: You start to not trust him, but you definitely still
- 35:22Speaker 1: kind of buy him as a real guy. He's always
- 35:25Speaker 1: been able to do that really well, I feel like.
- 35:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought the movie was really well acted. And
- 35:30Speaker 3: the whole movie, I enjoyed the movie. I will say
- 35:32Speaker 3: that the end was kind of the thing that just
- 35:36Speaker 3: threw me for a loop. It got a little out
- 35:38Speaker 3: of hand. It was just like you're trying to pack
- 35:40Speaker 3: so much in, and I'm already like, pride mentally by.
- 35:44Speaker 7: What's going on I just picture them like plastering that
- 35:48Speaker 7: same ending on like any movie to be like surprise
- 35:50Speaker 7: it's about aliens like you picture any character like they
- 35:52Speaker 7: could put it on the end of gravity like where
- 35:55Speaker 7: it's any character escapes a hard situation and they're like
- 35:57Speaker 7: I made it and then they're like wait a.
- 36:00Speaker 1: Minute by the way aliens yeah.
- 36:02Speaker 5: Exactly I would like to see more movies like that
- 36:04Speaker 5: yeah I just felt like it would have been equally
- 36:06Speaker 5: if not more effective if she just walked out and
- 36:08Speaker 5: there were in fact aliens and then that was it
- 36:11Speaker 5: like Did that just not play with test audiences? Did
- 36:13Speaker 5: we need to have her fight them and then persevere,
- 36:15Speaker 5: but then also not persevere? And by the way, there's
- 36:17Speaker 5: more aliens, and now we're going to go off into
- 36:19Speaker 5: the distance.
- 36:19Speaker 1: See, I like that ending at the very end, because
- 36:22Speaker 1: I think that, again, that just shows her character. And
- 36:26Speaker 1: she's so damn strong throughout all of this. So watching
- 36:28Speaker 1: her at the end, it's like, hey, if you just
- 36:30Speaker 1: want to go be a survivor, go over here. If
- 36:32Speaker 1: you want to help us fight this, and we kind
- 36:35Speaker 1: of know, he's like, that's who she is. Again, I
- 36:38Speaker 1: think it just makes her a much stronger character being like,
- 36:41Speaker 1: I didn't just survive. I didn't just survive this nonsense
- 36:44Speaker 1: to then come out and be a victim to aliens.
- 36:46Speaker 1: I'm like, screw this. I've spent this last however many
- 36:50Speaker 1: long weeks we were in there fighting and I'm not
- 36:53Speaker 1: going to stop. Like, I think that was just kind of,
- 36:56Speaker 1: that was kind of my favorite moment for her as
- 36:58Speaker 1: a character is just like this decision to go on
- 37:00Speaker 1: and continue to fight.
- 37:02Speaker 7: Yeah. I think they set that up too with her
- 37:04Speaker 7: like saying she didn't help that little girl and that
- 37:06Speaker 7: was like her big regret. And so she's like, think
- 37:07Speaker 7: of how many little girls I can help in Houston.
- 37:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I forgot about that part.
- 37:11Speaker 7: So I feel like the whole, like, abuse thing, because I'm...
- 37:14Speaker 7: I mean, this is reading into it a lot, but
- 37:15Speaker 7: I'm guessing the, like, one fight with Ben was maybe
- 37:17Speaker 7: that he was abusive because, like, she had an abusive
- 37:19Speaker 7: childhood and then she might have been drawn to that relationship.
- 37:21Speaker 1: I'm doing a lot of backstory. I did a little
- 37:24Speaker 1: earlier with him, too, so it's okay.
- 37:25Speaker 7: Yeah, and so then, like, the idea that, like, they're like,
- 37:28Speaker 7: now she can finally... You know, like, if it would
- 37:30Speaker 7: have been Emmett that got out, you'd be driving to
- 37:32Speaker 7: a tattoo shop and getting a bunch of tattoos.
- 37:35Speaker 2: Finally!
- 37:35Speaker 7: But they're like, it makes a lot more sense to
- 37:37Speaker 7: ever help people.
- 37:38Speaker 3: What did he want to have tattooed on his forehead?
- 37:40Speaker 7: He was just, like, joking and saying, like, Emmett or YOLO.
- 37:43Speaker 3: I don't even know. Oh, yeah, that's true.
- 37:44Speaker 1: He was just, like, being flirty. Emmett with the thug life.
- 37:48Speaker 7: They really just should have, like, killed John Goodman just
- 37:51Speaker 7: right away.
- 37:52Speaker 1: I was kind of work everything. Yeah. When, when they
- 37:55Speaker 1: got to the point of them figuring out the, the,
- 37:57Speaker 1: at least first part of the mystery, him going, that's
- 37:59Speaker 1: not his daughter. And like, they realize like she found
- 38:02Speaker 1: the scratching in the window. Like at that point, I'm like, okay,
- 38:05Speaker 1: you know, something's not right here. that's when you get
- 38:08Speaker 1: that bottle again and smack him upside the head and
- 38:10Speaker 1: just finish him off and be like, at least then
- 38:12Speaker 1: you can finish the suit in peace and not have
- 38:14Speaker 1: to hide it and then go out and try to
- 38:16Speaker 1: find something. At that point, it would make, I mean, yeah,
- 38:19Speaker 1: you're a murderer, but the end of the world has come.
- 38:21Speaker 1: He's a murderer.
- 38:21Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 38:21Speaker 1: You're a murderer.
- 38:23Speaker 7: Murderer and you're wearing that dead girl's t-shirt because honestly
- 38:26Speaker 7: like if i was her and he was just a
- 38:28Speaker 7: murderer and i wasn't wearing that dead girl's t-shirt i'd
- 38:30Speaker 7: convince myself because i'm a little lazy i'd be like
- 38:32Speaker 7: he's not gonna.
- 38:33Speaker 1: Do that to me like.
- 38:34Speaker 7: I think that i that was just a mistake in
- 38:36Speaker 7: his other life and now he's you know trying to
- 38:38Speaker 7: do better.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Or you were like i really like this t-shirt so
- 38:41Speaker 1: that's me yeah so i feel like.
- 38:43Speaker 3: Maybe she just is like i work better under pressure
- 38:47Speaker 3: so if we could keep him alive i will uh
- 38:50Speaker 3: Assemble this suit much better.
- 38:53Speaker 1: I like hiding things.
- 38:54Speaker 7: I will say also they did not know how to
- 38:56Speaker 7: run the whole bunker. So maybe that was like the
- 38:58Speaker 7: only reason to keep them alive until they could go
- 39:00Speaker 7: out and find help because they're like, oh, he knows
- 39:02Speaker 7: how to use the generator. Although Emmett knew how to
- 39:04Speaker 7: run the bunker because he.
- 39:05Speaker 3: Helped build it.
- 39:05Speaker 1: And I feel like she was pretty close to being done.
- 39:08Speaker 1: So I'm like, all it's got to do is coast
- 39:09Speaker 1: for a couple of days until she gets that done
- 39:11Speaker 1: and then at least they can make a trip out
- 39:13Speaker 1: and figure something out from the next point. So I mean...
- 39:16Speaker 1: Long term, they might be in trouble.
- 39:17Speaker 7: Although neither of them cooked very well, so maybe they
- 39:19Speaker 7: just really wanted him to keep around for the meals.
- 39:21Speaker 1: So you chain him in the kitchen and just make
- 39:23Speaker 1: him make dinner for you.
- 39:24Speaker 7: Yeah yeah i think that would stop everything.
- 39:28Speaker 3: My question was also uh well i guess did he
- 39:31Speaker 3: have keys when she like at the end closed the
- 39:33Speaker 3: door when she was trying to escape and he got
- 39:37Speaker 3: out of that door he had keys okay because.
- 39:39Speaker 7: He has the little keys on his belt.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Oh yeah that's right yeah or he's just super hulk strong.
- 39:42Speaker 3: He's john goodman he's john goodman yeah.
- 39:45Speaker 1: Yeah because she didn't have the keys that's why she
- 39:47Speaker 1: took the freon or whatever that was she took with her.
- 39:50Speaker 3: He was a very uh i don't know very resilient
- 39:53Speaker 3: guy i mean he he laid down in acid and
- 39:56Speaker 3: then still and then got back up chased her for
- 39:59Speaker 3: 10 more minutes yeah and then just like started stabbing the.
- 40:01Speaker 7: Vents stabbing the vents he's like stay with me we
- 40:04Speaker 7: can make this work he does not have a realistic
- 40:07Speaker 7: view of what this.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Is not into your melting man please.
- 40:10Speaker 7: I don't think any couples counseling would help.
- 40:13Speaker 3: This also she had to stitch him up And she's like, look,
- 40:16Speaker 3: I don't want to take care of your acid burns.
- 40:19Speaker 3: I'm the cause of that. You'll make me take care
- 40:21Speaker 3: of that.
- 40:21Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm not really into that.
- 40:23Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't like ointment.
- 40:29Speaker 1: This could be, and that's what they were, I think
- 40:32Speaker 1: they didn't even know when they finished it, because I
- 40:34Speaker 1: think they were trying to figure out, even through the director,
- 40:37Speaker 1: Dan Trachtenberg, I wanted to tell the story, I wanted
- 40:40Speaker 1: to make this very specific choice for her at the
- 40:42Speaker 1: end to go fight, But I think even he didn't
- 40:45Speaker 1: know if this is a... Because it kind of works
- 40:48Speaker 1: either way. It can be a great origin story, and
- 40:50Speaker 1: then we actually get another part two to this where
- 40:53Speaker 1: she's off kicking ass on aliens or whatever she's fighting.
- 40:58Speaker 1: Or we could just have this as a one-off. Because
- 41:01Speaker 1: that was what I really liked about this, is the fact,
- 41:04Speaker 1: and I think it's what you had problems with, but
- 41:06Speaker 1: I'm like, I like the fact that it's in the
- 41:08Speaker 1: same universe, it's in the same franchise, but they specifically
- 41:13Speaker 1: chose to tell an entirely different story. To be like,
- 41:15Speaker 1: I know what happened last time, we don't want to
- 41:17Speaker 1: do that again, because I feel like so many sequels
- 41:20Speaker 1: just try to rehash and do the same. I love
- 41:22Speaker 1: when somebody does, okay, We've done that. What if we
- 41:25Speaker 1: live in the same general little world, but we go
- 41:28Speaker 1: over here, we deal with entirely different people, we deal
- 41:31Speaker 1: with a whole new scenario, and we kind of do
- 41:33Speaker 1: our own thing, and we don't even worry about what
- 41:35Speaker 1: these guys did. I think just as a film, I
- 41:38Speaker 1: always like when they do that stuff.
- 41:39Speaker 3: And I think that's probably what, because that was my
- 41:41Speaker 3: thought too, was like, okay, is this setting this up
- 41:43Speaker 3: for another sequel? But then it was like, from what
- 41:47Speaker 3: I have heard of Cloverfield... it was very vague in
- 41:51Speaker 3: terms of what's going on.
- 41:53Speaker 1: Yeah, they never really spell anything out.
- 41:55Speaker 3: I can't imagine that they would just be like, okay,
- 41:58Speaker 3: because that movie, this one was still kind of vague too.
- 42:01Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 42:02Speaker 3: So I can't imagine they would go in and be like,
- 42:04Speaker 3: all right, we're going to have this character again, and
- 42:08Speaker 3: now we're going to explain everything in detail.
- 42:10Speaker 1: I mean, I think it all depends on how much
- 42:13Speaker 1: money it makes. If it makes a fortune, it'll just
- 42:16Speaker 1: become aliens next. And we just see her kicking ass
- 42:18Speaker 1: and going, well, we want you to fly up to
- 42:20Speaker 1: the alien spaceship and go kick their ass. And she'll
- 42:22Speaker 1: be like, all right, because that's the plot of this movie.
- 42:25Speaker 1: But I like that. It's sort of its own little
- 42:29Speaker 1: free form thing. And it's completely freestanding in this universe.
- 42:33Speaker 1: Like the few things I can, I was trying to
- 42:35Speaker 1: think of somebody else that kind of does that. Um,
- 42:39Speaker 1: a year or two ago, Winter Soldier, does that same thing.
- 42:42Speaker 1: It's in the middle of this big superhero universe, but
- 42:46Speaker 1: if you watch that second Captain America movie, it's just
- 42:48Speaker 1: like a political thriller that they kind of shoehorned in
- 42:52Speaker 1: like superhero characters, but for the most part, it plays
- 42:55Speaker 1: like it's some sort of weird espionage thriller that doesn't
- 43:01Speaker 1: really have to be involving superheroes at all. It just
- 43:04Speaker 1: happens to. It's just part of that story. But that's
- 43:08Speaker 1: not what makes that story work. It works because it's
- 43:11Speaker 1: written to be a cool political espionage kind of thing
- 43:14Speaker 1: about the people infiltrating our own governments. I'm like, to me,
- 43:19Speaker 1: that's why that thing kind of worked. And I like
- 43:21Speaker 1: that it was sort of its own thing. It leaves
- 43:24Speaker 1: that franchise. It doesn't have to specifically continue that one
- 43:27Speaker 1: story straight along that line. It can veer off and
- 43:30Speaker 1: do its own weird thing and then they can still
- 43:32Speaker 1: come back. So I'm like, it'll be interesting to see
- 43:35Speaker 1: what they do with Cloverfield now if if they just
- 43:37Speaker 1: do a Cloverfield 2 that has nothing to do with
- 43:39Speaker 1: this and just continues the original story, which I've heard
- 43:43Speaker 1: may be a thing.
- 43:44Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 43:45Speaker 1: Because this was, yeah, again, it's not the same director.
- 43:47Speaker 1: It's a totally different guy they handed this off to.
- 43:49Speaker 1: So the other guys could come back and go, I
- 43:51Speaker 1: want to finish my story now.
- 43:52Speaker 3: Did J.J. Abrams write this? Did he have anything to
- 43:55Speaker 3: do with it?
- 43:56Speaker 1: He was just producer, I think.
- 43:57Speaker 6: I think it's written.
- 43:58Speaker 3: He directed Cloverfield, right?
- 44:00Speaker 1: No, he was kind of the same thing. He was
- 44:02Speaker 1: just producer on that one. So it's one, he always
- 44:04Speaker 1: kind of gets credit for it, but he's really not
- 44:07Speaker 1: He's just sort of producer. He just kind of found
- 44:09Speaker 1: the right guys and went, you do have a good story.
- 44:10Speaker 1: Let me help you make it. But it's screen pay
- 44:14Speaker 1: on this one is Drew Goddard and Daniel Casey. Yeah,
- 44:18Speaker 1: story by isn't even him. So, yeah, it's just.
- 44:23Speaker 3: That must be great to get to that point in
- 44:25Speaker 3: your career where you're so successful that you don't even
- 44:27Speaker 3: have anything to do with the creation of it. You
- 44:29Speaker 3: just attach your name to something.
- 44:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:31Speaker 3: Because you like it.
- 44:33Speaker 7: You just Anna your name is like that Midas touch
- 44:35Speaker 7: that like literally like all filmmakers like can you just
- 44:38Speaker 7: say this out loud yeah I was told that way
- 44:40Speaker 7: about Oprah that I feel like if Oprah said my
- 44:42Speaker 7: name out loud one time and said that she liked
- 44:45Speaker 7: my comedy my whole life would change.
- 44:46Speaker 1: You'd be the greatest comedian we've ever had yeah like
- 44:49Speaker 1: I'd just become instantly famous if she was just like
- 44:51Speaker 1: you know I heard that Laura Sanders the other night
- 44:53Speaker 1: I liked her stuff I'd be like boom rich It's
- 44:56Speaker 1: the Oprah touch.
- 44:57Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 44:57Speaker 1: She's replaced Midas. She's got that much money now. Yeah, yeah.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Like J.J.
- 45:01Speaker 7: Abrams is that for sci-fi.
- 45:02Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 45:02Speaker 5: It's like the inverse M. Night Shyamalan. Like that one
- 45:05Speaker 5: time he put his name on a movie and everybody
- 45:07Speaker 5: was like, well, I'm not going anywhere near that. And
- 45:08Speaker 5: everybody was like, no, it's actually really good.
- 45:10Speaker 1: It literally killed that movie. Yeah. Which movie was that?
- 45:13Speaker 5: It was Satan in an Elevator.
- 45:15Speaker 1: I don't remember the name of it. Yeah, whatever that,
- 45:17Speaker 1: what was that one? Devil?
- 45:19Speaker 5: Yeah, I think it might have just been called.
- 45:19Speaker 7: Oh, it wasn't called Satan in the Elevator.
- 45:21Speaker 5: I mean, it might have been a working title.
- 45:23Speaker 7: That is a not catchy movie.
- 45:24Speaker 1: But it was M. Night Shyamalan Presents, and everybody assumed
- 45:28Speaker 1: it was his movie, but it was the Presents part,
- 45:30Speaker 1: and he didn't direct it, he didn't write it, he just,
- 45:32Speaker 1: for some reason, slapped his name on it, and I'm like,
- 45:34Speaker 1: that's the worst thing you could do. I know he's
- 45:37Speaker 1: a recognizable name, but not a good recognizable name anymore, so...
- 45:41Speaker 1: Don't do that.
- 45:42Speaker 3: Yeah, he doesn't have a good reputation.
- 45:44Speaker 1: No.
- 45:45Speaker 3: J.J. Abrams, on the other hand, great reputation.
- 45:47Speaker 1: At this point, there's a few haters.
- 45:50Speaker 7: At this point, you're like, he'll fall.
- 45:53Speaker 3: They all do.
- 45:54Speaker 1: They all fall. He's burnt some bridges with the Star
- 45:57Speaker 1: Trek fans, but I think he's made enough Star Wars
- 46:00Speaker 1: fans happy that now they hand him whatever he wants.
- 46:03Speaker 1: So I don't know. On the... shamalan thing i mean
- 46:08Speaker 1: do you because i feel like that's the way that
- 46:10Speaker 1: could have gone going in going in blind that's what
- 46:13Speaker 1: i was thinking i'm like you could just be assuming
- 46:15Speaker 1: this is a trapped in a which is weird because
- 46:18Speaker 1: i just watched broom about a week ago too so
- 46:20Speaker 1: getting into this very quickly i was like this is
- 46:23Speaker 1: not really a different story it's an.
- 46:24Speaker 5: Interesting companion piece i'm like.
- 46:26Speaker 1: This is really not a different story like it's just
- 46:29Speaker 1: kind of post-apocalyptic room But, yeah, so, I mean, I
- 46:35Speaker 1: still feel like it would have gone that way. So
- 46:37Speaker 1: I guess I'm asking the two of you who hadn't
- 46:39Speaker 1: seen it, did it feel like it totally took that
- 46:42Speaker 1: hard corner, like, in Night Shyamalan style that was just like, oh,
- 46:46Speaker 1: my God, and the whole time. Like, it really, it
- 46:48Speaker 1: does seem like it's a different reveal if you don't
- 46:51Speaker 1: know that there probably are actually aliens out there.
- 46:53Speaker 7: I mean, they mentioned, Jacob and I was crazy because
- 46:55Speaker 7: they mentioned aliens a few times to try to foreshadow
- 46:57Speaker 7: to it. They're like, it's maybe chemical aliens. Or maybe aliens.
- 47:00Speaker 7: Where in the sixth sense, it's not like Haley Josman
- 47:03Speaker 7: was like, and maybe you've been dead the whole time.
- 47:04Speaker 1: By the way, I don't know if I mentioned this.
- 47:08Speaker 7: But there was no hinting at it of like, maybe
- 47:10Speaker 7: it seems like you've been actually dead since that accident.
- 47:12Speaker 7: And so I feel like this was like, oh, maybe aliens.
- 47:15Speaker 7: And you don't want to believe it, because he's crazy.
- 47:18Speaker 7: But he's like, maybe right about this.
- 47:21Speaker 2: You're in our case.
- 47:26Speaker 4: No, no. No!
- 47:31Speaker 1: No, no!
- 47:35Speaker 2: Don't open that door!
- 47:40Speaker 1: Oh, God. That door.
- 47:45Speaker 2: There's a woman.
- 47:46Speaker 7: Open the door.
- 47:48Speaker 2: It's okay.
- 47:49Speaker 5: I just.
- 47:50Speaker 9: I want to come inside.
- 47:51Speaker 1: She looks hurt. She wants me to let her in.
- 47:52Speaker 2: You can't help her!
- 47:54Speaker 3: No one get out!
- 47:55Speaker 1: No!
- 47:55Speaker 2: No!
- 47:59Speaker 7: .
- 48:01Speaker 5: .
- 48:04Speaker 3: .
- 48:10Speaker 2: .
- 48:19Speaker 3: with the lady who just like bashed her head into
- 48:22Speaker 3: the window.
- 48:23Speaker 5: And conveniently showed up at exactly the right time. Yeah.
- 48:26Speaker 3: Like that's to me was like, cause when I, when
- 48:30Speaker 3: she got out, I was like, okay, this is probably
- 48:32Speaker 3: the ending of the movie. Although they didn't explain that
- 48:34Speaker 3: woman that was like a scarred and screaming. And then
- 48:39Speaker 3: I thought, I was like, okay, well maybe he, John
- 48:41Speaker 3: Goodman had burned her with acid, but how would that
- 48:44Speaker 3: have worked out that she escaped at that time?
- 48:46Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 48:48Speaker 5: Yeah, I thought maybe he just like found her on
- 48:50Speaker 5: Craigslist and paid her.
- 48:51Speaker 1: That's what I was thinking. I was thinking if, again,
- 48:54Speaker 1: it was because I knew there probably really are aliens
- 48:57Speaker 1: because I saw the other movie. But I was thinking
- 48:58Speaker 1: if this weren't that movie, I was like, what if
- 49:01Speaker 1: he really did set all this? Like he just found
- 49:04Speaker 1: two rotting pigs, drug him in front of the window,
- 49:06Speaker 1: paid this woman to go get makeup put on and
- 49:08Speaker 1: come up here and like totally convince her that she
- 49:11Speaker 1: has to spend the rest of eternity with him. I mean,
- 49:13Speaker 1: that really would be it's own weird little twist if
- 49:16Speaker 1: like if we didn't know that the Cloverfield universe kind
- 49:19Speaker 1: of exists which again I guess is all still questionable
- 49:22Speaker 1: if you want to take this as it's own separate
- 49:24Speaker 1: movie but I think that would have been an interesting
- 49:27Speaker 1: turn I mean by the end we kind of see
- 49:29Speaker 1: why it's like that that he was just assuming it
- 49:32Speaker 1: was all of the air instead they were just kind
- 49:34Speaker 1: of agent.
- 49:35Speaker 3: Oranging them and like as long as you don't get.
- 49:37Speaker 7: Hit with it he built this whole bunker and he
- 49:39Speaker 7: worked very hard on it and then he did not
- 49:42Speaker 7: have like hazmat suits and gas masks to be able
- 49:44Speaker 7: to like and like air tests like air quality tests
- 49:48Speaker 7: as far as he's like i feel like he wanted
- 49:50Speaker 7: to just stay in there for the rest of their
- 49:52Speaker 7: lives that like that was his goal.
- 49:53Speaker 1: When you think what he was actually using it for
- 49:55Speaker 1: before the end of the world he probably did really
- 49:58Speaker 1: just want to stay in.
- 49:58Speaker 7: There yeah i feel like he was like very ready
- 50:01Speaker 7: to like just live there with met like or britney
- 50:05Speaker 7: i guess was.
- 50:06Speaker 1: The or any random girl wandering yeah.
- 50:08Speaker 7: He was just like ready because i was like why
- 50:10Speaker 7: don't you have gas masks and air test things that
- 50:12Speaker 7: he can literally if she's like i don't think this
- 50:14Speaker 7: is true that he can be like well here is
- 50:17Speaker 7: i guess he didn't have an airlock so he couldn't
- 50:19Speaker 7: go out because then the.
- 50:20Speaker 3: Battery would get also uh if he didn't have such
- 50:24Speaker 3: a tiny woman to go fix his air vent, how
- 50:30Speaker 3: did he plan on doing that? Because I don't imagine
- 50:33Speaker 3: John Goodman crawling through that vent.
- 50:35Speaker 7: Well, there was like a hatch and it got blocked.
- 50:37Speaker 7: and he just had no back of the plane.
- 50:38Speaker 3: He had a big old.
- 50:39Speaker 1: Hatch to go through. I think were she not there,
- 50:42Speaker 1: he just would have hulked his way through there. As
- 50:44Speaker 1: we said, he just would have just busted away through
- 50:46Speaker 1: a wall.
- 50:46Speaker 7: And then something blocked it, which we never found out what.
- 50:49Speaker 7: Probably a dead body of another.
- 50:50Speaker 6: I know.
- 50:51Speaker 1: I was waiting to see if that was the girl's body.
- 50:53Speaker 7: No, he totally hydrochloric acid her. The second I saw
- 50:56Speaker 7: the hydrochloric acid, I'm like, oh, he's ready to murder
- 50:58Speaker 7: as many people as he wants.
- 50:59Speaker 1: Somebody's getting dunked.
- 51:00Speaker 3: That's all there is to it. I thought, yeah. I
- 51:04Speaker 3: thought he was going to open it up and be like,
- 51:07Speaker 3: this is the body of that girl. And then he
- 51:10Speaker 3: would have some sort of explanation for why she was
- 51:12Speaker 3: there and why she was dead.
- 51:13Speaker 7: I was lying to you before.
- 51:15Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 51:16Speaker 7: I was just embarrassed to tell you.
- 51:17Speaker 1: That I murdered this girl.
- 51:20Speaker 7: Be my wife now.
- 51:22Speaker 1: Like he did with the, I have to tell you,
- 51:24Speaker 1: I ran into you. And she's like, yeah, I know
- 51:26Speaker 1: you weirdo. But his weird like revealing moment, I'm like, again,
- 51:29Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm still like, it's just kind of making
- 51:32Speaker 1: it creepier that you're doing this now. Like, because she
- 51:35Speaker 1: already knew it. Yeah.
- 51:35Speaker 7: He was like overhearing them the whole time probably. And
- 51:38Speaker 7: so then he's like, okay, she knows for sure that
- 51:40Speaker 7: I ran into her. So I have to say like, sorry,
- 51:43Speaker 7: I didn't mean to do that.
- 51:45Speaker 5: I thought the having Emmett move the vat of hydrochloric
- 51:48Speaker 5: acid too was like a really nice moment. It was
- 51:50Speaker 5: kind of like a callback to like the old West,
- 51:52Speaker 5: like dig your own grave kind of thing. That was,
- 51:55Speaker 5: that was pretty poetic.
- 51:56Speaker 3: I don't know why the, uh, Well, I guess if
- 51:59Speaker 3: you would have submerged him in it, but he used
- 52:02Speaker 3: a different container to stuff Emmett. It was like a
- 52:05Speaker 3: square locker or like square chest. I don't know why
- 52:09Speaker 3: he just didn't.
- 52:10Speaker 1: As full as it was, they want to overflow it
- 52:12Speaker 1: all over. Displacement and stuff.
- 52:15Speaker 7: He wanted extra hydrochloric acid for later.
- 52:17Speaker 3: Yeah, he had to save some for her. But how
- 52:19Speaker 3: do you transfer that to the box?
- 52:23Speaker 1: Just a pitcher.
- 52:23Speaker 3: Kool-Aid pitcher.
- 52:24Speaker 7: A little plastic pitcher.
- 52:27Speaker 1: Smiley Kool-Aid face on it. It's okay. We've all used
- 52:29Speaker 1: this for our after. Like you do.
- 52:33Speaker 7: It is weird too that he like, I know it's
- 52:34Speaker 7: for movie magic and all that, but he's like, okay,
- 52:36Speaker 7: I'm going to dissolve him in this box, but I
- 52:38Speaker 7: won't close the lid.
- 52:41Speaker 1: Actually, it's for horror purposes, so we can go by
- 52:43Speaker 1: in a few minutes and go, ew, gross. Yeah, exactly.
- 52:45Speaker 7: He's like, let me leave it open just in case
- 52:48Speaker 7: she isn't here so she can see that he is
- 52:49Speaker 7: not attractive anymore.
- 52:52Speaker 1: And realize how attractive I am as the last man
- 52:54Speaker 1: on earth.
- 52:55Speaker 7: Yeah, he probably saw that from a pickup artist somewhere.
- 52:58Speaker 7: It's like, if you shoot a man. The only way
- 53:01Speaker 7: to flirt your way back.
- 53:02Speaker 1: Please disfigure him so that you look really hot.
- 53:05Speaker 7: Yeah, exactly. And bitches love ice cream.
- 53:09Speaker 1: There's the real moral of the story.
- 53:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 53:13Speaker 1: They did another one of the, but yeah, you were
- 53:15Speaker 1: saying they dropped in a few space hints. The one
- 53:17Speaker 1: I don't think I even realized till after the fact
- 53:19Speaker 1: is like direct is he's telling you, you should hear
- 53:23Speaker 1: his theories on mutant worms. So I'm like, we're wondering,
- 53:28Speaker 1: did he really know somewhat of what was really going on?
- 53:33Speaker 1: Because they even- He worked for the military. Yeah. Well,
- 53:35Speaker 1: that's true. He did work for the Navy. So maybe
- 53:39Speaker 1: that is part of it. Maybe we were involved in
- 53:42Speaker 1: making these creatures, and that's why he sort of knew
- 53:45Speaker 1: what some of them are like. I don't know. It's
- 53:48Speaker 1: very strange.
- 53:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 53:49Speaker 1: Because before, they're way more bug-like. It's a little more
- 53:53Speaker 1: like Starship Troopers bugs. Then like the, again, it's like
- 53:57Speaker 1: a mixture of a Jaguar and a giant worm, like
- 53:59Speaker 1: in this new one.
- 54:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 54:01Speaker 1: Like it's a very different, and you never really figure
- 54:04Speaker 1: out why, like in the other one, there's bigger ones
- 54:06Speaker 1: and smaller ones. And you just kind of assume these
- 54:08Speaker 1: are like the offspring or something, but you can't really
- 54:11Speaker 1: tell if there's like multiple, multiple types of creatures in
- 54:15Speaker 1: that first movie or not. So obviously now there are
- 54:18Speaker 1: different variants out there in the space universe.
- 54:21Speaker 3: What they should have done is made the aliens like
- 54:24Speaker 3: very friendly and So then the aliens come and they're
- 54:27Speaker 3: like her saviors. And then it's this very subtle thing
- 54:31Speaker 3: like humans are the real monsters.
- 54:35Speaker 1: Oh. I mean, is that not the moral of the
- 54:37Speaker 1: story anyway? I don't know.
- 54:40Speaker 7: I feel like that one alien was acting like a
- 54:41Speaker 7: real dick.
- 54:44Speaker 1: More so than John Goodman. That's pretty parallel.
- 54:47Speaker 7: I guess he wasn't like stay with me forever. The
- 54:50Speaker 7: alien just wanted to murder.
- 54:51Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 54:53Speaker 1: I don't know. Either way, you're dead. Do you want
- 54:56Speaker 1: to be tormented first or just be taken out immediately?
- 54:59Speaker 7: She thought she was dying and the smoke was getting
- 55:01Speaker 7: her and then the hatch opens as an alien and
- 55:03Speaker 7: she's scared and then he just reaches out his little
- 55:05Speaker 7: tentacle and she grabs it and then curtains.
- 55:09Speaker 1: That's the end. It becomes explorers and they go riding
- 55:11Speaker 1: around and Flight of the Navigator wrap up.
- 55:15Speaker 3: Actually, what the guy does, the alien can read her mind.
- 55:20Speaker 3: and change his features to look like something that she loves.
- 55:24Speaker 3: And it turns out that she loves Emmett, and the
- 55:27Speaker 3: alien changes his face to Emmett.
- 55:29Speaker 1: Oh, that'd be, yeah.
- 55:30Speaker 3: And now.
- 55:31Speaker 7: But then eventually I feel like she needs to love
- 55:33Speaker 7: the alien for himself.
- 55:35Speaker 3: Yeah. This is probably why we don't write movies.
- 55:39Speaker 7: And he's actually Shrek, and it's actually about that the
- 55:44Speaker 7: ogre is the more attractive version of a person.
- 55:46Speaker 3: And then Haley Joel Osment comes in.
- 55:48Speaker 6: Yep.
- 55:49Speaker 3: And it was Bruce Willis dead all along.
- 55:52Speaker 1: On that note, that is why she kicks such good ass.
- 55:54Speaker 1: She is John McClane's daughter.
- 55:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 55:58Speaker 1: I forgot about that one, too. I was like, oh, yeah,
- 56:00Speaker 1: she is Lucy. Not you, Lucy. Lucy is the daughter
- 56:05Speaker 1: in the John McClane series. Now, sad for her, it's
- 56:07Speaker 1: in the two movies I do not want to watch
- 56:09Speaker 1: in that series. I can even watch two, but four
- 56:12Speaker 1: and five take a hard turn for me. Which one's
- 56:14Speaker 1: the hacker's one? four i just live and watch five
- 56:18Speaker 1: live free and die hard or live and let die
- 56:20Speaker 1: hard oh.
- 56:20Speaker 7: Yeah the five is like with his son or.
- 56:22Speaker 1: Something well five yeah five's when they go to russia
- 56:24Speaker 1: with the sun yeah but she does show up in
- 56:26Speaker 1: that one too so she's in both of the other
- 56:29Speaker 1: ones as little.
- 56:31Speaker 7: John mclean yeah oh yeah not four was uh that
- 56:36Speaker 7: one did it for me justin long that actor I'm
- 56:39Speaker 7: rooting for him all the time.
- 56:41Speaker 1: I think he's adorable.
- 56:41Speaker 7: I want him to be great. I saw, in the
- 56:43Speaker 7: same year, Die Hard 4 and Jeepers Creepers, and they
- 56:47Speaker 7: are some of the worst movies I've ever seen.
- 56:50Speaker 1: It's one of those, like, he seems like a very
- 56:53Speaker 1: likable guy in the real world. In these movies, he's
- 56:55Speaker 1: the most unlikable bastard. You just want to strangle him
- 56:58Speaker 1: in Jeepers Creepers. Like, stop your whining, for God's sakes.
- 57:02Speaker 1: I hope he kills you now.
- 57:03Speaker 7: Yeah, Jeepers Creepers is also the most drastic, like, it's
- 57:07Speaker 7: the best opening to a horror movie I've ever seen
- 57:10Speaker 7: and the worst horror movie I've ever seen.
- 57:12Speaker 1: I think the first third is really, like the truck
- 57:15Speaker 1: part of it is really effective. Oh, it's terrifying. It's
- 57:18Speaker 1: really effective.
- 57:19Speaker 7: But then like, It would be like watching Mad Max
- 57:21Speaker 7: and then just in the middle, they're like, oh, let's
- 57:24Speaker 7: just build a sandcastle and call it a day and
- 57:26Speaker 7: not explain anything. It just is so terrible.
- 57:28Speaker 1: I will agree it becomes a different movie about twice more.
- 57:31Speaker 1: Once again, once you get to them sliding down the hole,
- 57:34Speaker 1: it's a different movie. Once you get to the end
- 57:36Speaker 1: where you just see the creature, it's a different movie.
- 57:38Speaker 1: So yeah, that one's another one. There's three movies in it.
- 57:42Speaker 3: I haven't seen Jeebers Grievers.
- 57:44Speaker 7: Watch the first 10 minutes.
- 57:45Speaker 1: Speaking of weird abducting.
- 57:47Speaker 3: So it should have been just a short film?
- 57:49Speaker 7: Yeah, if it was just a scary short film, I
- 57:51Speaker 7: would watch.
- 57:52Speaker 1: It a bunch. I mean, I feel, again, I feel
- 57:53Speaker 1: like that's the problem with Duel is it's too long.
- 57:56Speaker 1: So I think that first, like, 20 minutes of it
- 57:58Speaker 1: kind of does everything you need from Duel and you
- 58:00Speaker 1: get a creepy Cheepers Creepers guy later, but like.
- 58:03Speaker 7: That's how I kind of felt about this movie and
- 58:05Speaker 7: the alien thing at the end, where I was like,
- 58:07Speaker 7: I was very satisfied with, like, the heroin escaping.
- 58:10Speaker 1: You just wanted room.
- 58:11Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 58:12Speaker 7: And then they're like, nope.
- 58:15Speaker 3: Yeah, because that That would be an insane psychological trick
- 58:19Speaker 3: to convince someone that the world is coming to an
- 58:23Speaker 3: end and you cannot go outside because your skin will
- 58:27Speaker 3: melt off. It really would have been interesting had he
- 58:30Speaker 3: just been pretending.
- 58:31Speaker 5: Because the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, right?
- 58:34Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, that's right. Yeah, this was actually a prequel
- 58:37Speaker 7: to Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.
- 58:38Speaker 1: There's a lot of that going around, it seems to be.
- 58:40Speaker 1: A lot of bunker stuff. I might abduct you and
- 58:42Speaker 1: keep you here for the rest of your life.
- 58:43Speaker 5: Maybe we'll make children.
- 58:44Speaker 1: Who knows? Yeah. Very disturbing.
- 58:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 58:50Speaker 7: Why is it always the guys with the bunkers that
- 58:51Speaker 7: are crazy?
- 58:52Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 58:53Speaker 3: Why can't there be cool bunker guys?
- 58:55Speaker 7: I'm just looking for a nice bunker man to spend
- 58:57Speaker 7: the rest of my life with.
- 58:59Speaker 1: He did have ice cream and a jukebox.
- 59:02Speaker 3: He definitely did have a pretty good setup for a boner.
- 59:04Speaker 1: Oh, I was charmed.
- 59:05Speaker 7: Like, I was like, if he was not a murderer
- 59:08Speaker 7: of women, I would really be into him.
- 59:10Speaker 5: It definitely makes all the puzzles in teen magazines creepier, too.
- 59:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 59:14Speaker 5: The whole layer.
- 59:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 59:16Speaker 7: That's, I feel like, where he's like, oh, those are Megan's.
- 59:19Speaker 1: Lucy, I figured you'd be excited because we had a
- 59:20Speaker 1: special guest appearance by Harry Dean Stanton.
- 59:22Speaker 5: We had a Harry Dean cameo. It made me so happy. Also,
- 59:26Speaker 5: it was really heartbreaking because of all the movies that
- 59:28Speaker 5: are about being a single dad and parenting.
- 59:31Speaker 1: It makes it even creepier.
- 59:33Speaker 5: That you liked Pretty in Pink. It does.
- 59:35Speaker 1: Very strange.
- 59:36Speaker 5: That was good use of Pretty in Pink.
- 59:37Speaker 1: She's oddly obsessed with Harry Dean Stanton. For you guys.
- 59:42Speaker 3: I did pick him out when I saw him. I
- 59:43Speaker 3: was like, oh, there's Harry Dean Stanton.
- 59:44Speaker 5: Yep.
- 59:46Speaker 1: I don't know. So is that everybody's take on it?
- 59:47Speaker 1: You like everything but the Indy?
- 59:49Speaker 5: Oh, wait, I'm sorry. Did you say you're a fan
- 59:51Speaker 5: of Harry Dean Stanton?
- 59:53Speaker 1: I mean, I... Pitch, pitch.
- 59:54Speaker 5: We have a festival in Lexington, Kentucky dedicated to Harry
- 59:57Speaker 5: Dean Stanton this June 10th through 12th.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:00:01Speaker 5: Yeah, sixth annual.
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: He's one that I never know if he's still alive.
- 1:00:05Speaker 5: He's so alive. He's going to be 90 this summer.
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: Is he going to be there?
- 1:00:09Speaker 5: He will not be there this year. He has come
- 1:00:11Speaker 5: in the past. This year's guest will be Brad Dourif,
- 1:00:13Speaker 5: and we're going to show Wiseblood. It's going to be
- 1:00:15Speaker 5: an all-70s Harry Dean weekend. Just getting the pitch in
- 1:00:19Speaker 5: real fast.
- 1:00:21Speaker 7: Sounds like a great time.
- 1:00:22Speaker 5: It is.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: You're always welcome to work those in. And we do
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: talk about Harry Dean Stanton in almost every episode, so
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: it's okay. This one, we actually had a reason. He
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: was in the movie. He's their Guzman. I was like,
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: does he get residuals? Do you get it if you're
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: in video, on video, in a video? I'm not sure
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: what the.
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: That's a really good question. I'm guessing so.
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: I would think... I mean, they have to pay the
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: studio for showing it, right? So I don't know that
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: he gets anything, but I would think maybe they're owned
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: by the same studio.
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: I'm sure Harry Dean Stanton is like, I'm just more
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: concerned with not dying right now.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: He's like, I just want another cigarette.
- 1:00:54Speaker 3: I don't really give a rat's ass.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: You and your damn alien movie. They made me be
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: in Avengers anyway. It's bad enough. Gotta leave the house.
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: But I would say I overall enjoyed the movie.
- 1:01:08Speaker 7: Yeah, it was entertaining, worth going to. I don't think
- 1:01:11Speaker 7: the best movie I've ever seen, but any movie where
- 1:01:13Speaker 7: John Goodman plays a villain, I will see.
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: And it kept me very... It kept me very... invested
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: in the movie.
- 1:01:23Speaker 7: I was nervous the whole time. It was very intense.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: That's what I was going to give Dan Trachtenberg credit for.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: He knows how to kind of work the intrigue part
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: of it and the tension part of it to the
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: point I do want to see what else he's going
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: to direct. Again, he came from the geeky side of things.
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: He is sort of one of us that crossed over
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: because he had a video podcast and he was on
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: audio shows all the time. I knew the name years
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: ago when he was just doing that. And he did
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: some short films, and he did a crossover one for Portal,
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: I think, for the video game, and started doing commercials.
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: And this is his first feature film, so I'm kind
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: of interested to see where he goes as a director,
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: because I think he showed a lot of promise in this.
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: Like I said, overall, I'd probably give it a B.
- 1:02:08Speaker 7: But like a solid B.
- 1:02:10Speaker 3: Solid B, yeah.
- 1:02:12Speaker 6: Lucy?
- 1:02:13Speaker 5: Yeah, I'd give it a C +.
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: I was, again, I wasn't weirded out by the end.
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: I think I needed the end to complete it. So
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: I don't know. I really was happy with it. I
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: think because the rest of it is so well executed
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: and I kind of felt like the end was coming
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: at some point that I'm like, at some point she
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: has to get out of the house. At some point
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: we have to see I mean, there has to be
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: a reveal of something. Like I said, or it's going
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: to be uneven. If we get through all of that,
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: she goes out there and there's nothing. Like, again, unless
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: it's a super twist of he faked it all, which
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: would have been interesting. But otherwise, you know, you're going
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: to have to have, especially that it's part of the
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: Cloverfield world, you're going to need something there to kind
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: of balance out your big finale. So I felt like
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: it was coming, but I think that first two-thirds is
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: so solid that I ended up just kind of really
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: happy with the whole thing.
- 1:03:02Speaker 3: The first two-thirds were great.
- 1:03:04Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: And the end wasn't bad. It was just very strange.
- 1:03:08Speaker 5: Just a little much.
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: Again, but I think if you're there having seen the
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: first one, you kind of won't be... I feel like
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: it's more of what you're going to be there for anyway.
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: So I think people coming in that aren't used to
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: it or didn't know what they were getting into will
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: really be thrown off. I would hope the fans of
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: Cloverfield will be like, oh, of course there's aliens. I
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: don't know. But it'll be interesting to see everybody's take
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: on it in the next couple of weeks as If
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: everybody ends up... I've heard pretty decent reviews on it,
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: but I'm wondering what the public.
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: It's got a very positive... Yeah, what the.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: Public's going to think of it.
- 1:03:40Speaker 5: Yeah, it's like 90%. It's crazy.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: Again, I think it's solid. I'm really happy with it. So, again,
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: I want to see where that director goes, and I
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: want to see where the series goes now. If they
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: leave this as a one-off, or they continue her story,
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: or they continue that story, or they continue both and
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: make them crossover. I mean, building universes is what studios
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: want to do now, so it'll be interesting if this becomes...
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: one of those properties that has got enough of a
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: following that can do that.
- 1:04:08Speaker 7: Is Houston, Texas a cheap place to film movies in?
- 1:04:10Speaker 6: Oh, yeah.
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: Well, then. Well, not necessarily Houston, but Texas has built
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: its own. Rodriguez basically moved in there and said, yeah,
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: I'm going to start making movies here now. So he
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: has his own studio in... Austin? Yeah, I think it's
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: in Austin that he's set up in, that he has
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: got his studio in. And now there's enough people on
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: board that there's a good amount of other people filming
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: stuff there. They've got the Film Fest there and Fantastic Fest.
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: I think they're really super supportive about films being made there.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: So I'm sure they'll be back to do more stuff.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: There's the sequel.
- 1:04:42Speaker 6: There you go.
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: All right. So that's our take on it. How about
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: you guys? What do you have? Do you want to
- 1:04:50Speaker 1: tell people what all you're doing? Is it just the
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: tour or do you have future plans? I mean.
- 1:04:56Speaker 7: I think I'll keep on living after the tour and
- 1:04:58Speaker 7: doing more comedy. But as far as for sure, where
- 1:05:02Speaker 7: to find me, laurasanderscomedy.com. And please buy my album there.
- 1:05:08Speaker 7: There are no aliens in my album, not to spoil it.
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: She's roping you in. Some dinosaurs, no aliens. Is it
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: physical or downloadable or both?
- 1:05:18Speaker 7: Downloadable. It's in the sky.
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: And for me, yeah, it'll just be after this going
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: back to Chicago and doing more comedy. And then you
- 1:05:30Speaker 3: can also buy my album on iTunes or Amazon. It's
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: called Michael Myers, No Don Draper. So go ahead and
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: buy that. And no aliens in that either. All right.
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: And Lucy, tell them to all go to the Harry
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: Dean Standfest.
- 1:05:45Speaker 5: Yeah, Harry Dean Standfest, June 10th through 12th, 2016.
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: All right, well, thank you guys for sitting in, and
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: I'm glad we were trying to decide what movie to watch,
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: and I wanted to see this anyway, so this was
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: a good reason to sit down and hash it out.
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: Yeah, thank you for having us.
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: Thank you for joining in. Otherwise, that about does it.
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: We will return next time, same geek feed. Thanks for listening.
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: ¶ Well, a little green man think of a real.
- 1:06:53Speaker 9: Half-caste ¶ Rockin' at a lowly to the crazy blast
- 1:06:57Speaker 9: ¶ They brought out a sax and they started to
- 1:06:59Speaker 9: blow ¶ They brought out the drums and they started
- 1:07:02Speaker 9: to roll ¶ My thoughts are rockin' old ¶ My
- 1:07:07Speaker 9: thoughts are rockin' old ¶ I couldn't understand the things
- 1:07:11Speaker 9: they said ¶ But they're crazy, baby, just to stop
- 1:07:14Speaker 9: me dead.
- 1:07:15Speaker 8: ¶ Well, I come out of hiding and I started
- 1:07:34Speaker 8: to rock.
- 1:07:35Speaker 9: Little green men taught me how to do the bop.
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: They were three foot high, they had a few bars.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: They thought of rock and roll all.
- 1:07:42Speaker 6: The way from Mars.
- 1:07:44Speaker 9: My thoughts are rock and roll. My thoughts are rock
- 1:07:48Speaker 9: and roll. I couldn't understand a.
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: Thing they said.
- 1:07:52Speaker 9: It was a crazy video just to start me dead.
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: Oh, Emmett.
- 1:08:05Speaker 5: We hardly knew you.
