- 0:02As the secret attempts to follow a spiritual path, he frequently
- 0:06finds that he struggles with old habits, desires, feelings,
- 0:11Cravings, emotions and ideas. He believes these are part of
- 0:17who he is and he thus cannot find a way to overcome them in
- 0:22some cases, he is deeply attached to some of these things
- 0:26as expressing his unique personality.
- 0:29He does not have any key as to how to go about a self exceeding
- 0:34in this circumstance. SRI aurobindo provides Insight.
- 0:38That Aid. The Seeker in first distancing
- 0:41himself from all of these things and second gaining Mastery.
- 0:46Over them with the leverage provided by knowledge and
- 0:49Detachment. The clue is the separation of
- 0:53the witness Consciousness from the active nature.
- 0:57The Seeker becomes the Observer of all these forces energies and
- 1:01impulsions as they act upon his external nature.
- 1:06He begins to recognize that these things are not himself but
- 1:10are based on a habit of acceptance and responds to
- 1:13forces and energies that come from outside.
- 1:18The individual is something of a radio receiver rather than the
- 1:22originator of the content. At some point when he recognizes
- 1:28that these things therefore are not essential parts of himself.
- 1:32He is able to begin to reject their action within himself and
- 1:37change the focus. SRI aurobindo observes quote,
- 1:42men do not know themselves and have not learned to distinguish
- 1:46the different parts of their being for these are usually
- 1:49lumped together by them as mind because it is through a mental
- 1:53lived, perception and understanding that they know or
- 1:57feel them. Therefore, they do not
- 2:00understand their own States and actions or if at all, then only
- 2:05on the surface. It is part of the foundation of
- 2:09yoga to become conscious of the great complexity of our nature.
- 2:13See the different forces, that move it and get over it.
- 2:17A control of directing knowledge.
- 2:20We are composed of many parts, Each of which contributes
- 2:25something to the total movement of our Consciousness, our
- 2:28thought will sensation feeling action, but we do not see the
- 2:36origination. Or the course of these
- 2:38impulsions, we are aware only of they're confused and pell-mell
- 2:44results on the surface upon, which we can at best impose
- 2:48nothing better than a precarious shifting order, man is not made
- 2:54up of one piece, but of many pieces, and each part of him has
- 2:59a personality of its own. That is a thing, which people
- 3:03yet have not sufficiently realized the psychologists.
- 3:07Have begun to Glimpse it. But recognized only when there
