- 0:00Speaker 1: Scrubbing In with Becca Tilly and Tanya rap An iHeartRadio podcast.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Hello everybody, we are scrubbing in. Scrub but dub dumb
- 0:14Speaker 2: are Dancing with the Stars auditions continue.
- 0:17Speaker 3: Honestly, like when did we become the Dancing with the
- 0:20Speaker 3: Stars podcast. We had more Dancing with the Stars guest
- 0:24Speaker 3: guests this year than ever history of our podcast, and
- 0:29Speaker 3: we appreciate it. Yeah, because it's hop the season.
- 0:31Speaker 2: It is like, if there was a season to have it,
- 0:34Speaker 2: it's no, it's now. If not now, when? If not us? Who?
- 0:38Speaker 2: If not today? Not tomorrow?
- 0:41Speaker 3: Oh never?
- 0:41Speaker 2: That's better. That was better. That was but actually I
- 0:44Speaker 2: didn't It's supposed to be tomorrow, but it's today. Anyways,
- 0:48Speaker 2: today we do have a really she came on her
- 0:51Speaker 2: first season was last season. She was so popular. She
- 0:55Speaker 2: has a sibling who is very beloved on the show,
- 0:58Speaker 2: and she is making her own way as a Dancing
- 1:01Speaker 2: with the Stars pro. It's Riley Arnold. We love her.
- 1:05Speaker 2: She's so cute. Tanya was trying to bring mimosas today
- 1:08Speaker 2: and I'm like, she's nineteen.
- 1:09Speaker 3: I literally like we should bring mimosas and make it
- 1:13Speaker 3: really cute with Riley. And then everybody said she's nineteen, so.
- 1:16Speaker 2: I was like, so only mimosas for us. If we
- 1:18Speaker 2: wanted to do that.
- 1:19Speaker 3: I was going to, and then that felt rude.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, we can't be doing that.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, you can't have that not include your guests.
- 1:25Speaker 3: So anyways, it's time to.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Bring her in. Riley Arnold, Hi, Riley, Hi, We're so
- 1:34Speaker 2: happy to have you here. Thank you for having me. Actually,
- 1:37Speaker 2: it's so weird that we actually officially met. But I
- 1:40Speaker 2: came to the tart house at Stagecoach and it was
- 1:44Speaker 2: madness because everyone was getting their makeup and ready and
- 1:46Speaker 2: we had just stopped by. So I was like, oh
- 1:49Speaker 2: my gosh, there's Riley. But I didn't want to I've
- 1:53Speaker 2: ever seen you there. That's so crazy. And I know
- 1:56Speaker 2: your sister Lindsey. I said hi to her, and then
- 1:58Speaker 2: I was like, got starstruck by you, so stoped.
- 2:02Speaker 4: No, I got weird, so weird, so nice and approachable,
- 2:07Speaker 4: I know, but it was like there was a lot
- 2:10Speaker 4: off your head.
- 2:11Speaker 2: I don't want to interrupt her getting your makeup done?
- 2:13Speaker 2: The makeup artists, what do you do when you're getting
- 2:15Speaker 2: your makeup?
- 2:15Speaker 3: You're just sitting there when you get your makeup talking.
- 2:17Speaker 2: I don't ask questions about why, you know how you.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Just get so I'm interested in the psyche behind it.
- 2:22Speaker 2: You just sometimes you freeze and that's what happens.
- 2:25Speaker 5: Yes, And it's just like, maybe it's not the right time.
- 2:28Speaker 5: It's okay, because I was waiting for this, Yes, this
- 2:31Speaker 5: right here?
- 2:32Speaker 2: Is it a moment?
- 2:33Speaker 3: Yes, I do have to confess. When we were preparing
- 2:39Speaker 3: for you to come on the podcast.
- 2:41Speaker 2: I was like, she's so cute.
- 2:43Speaker 3: Should we do like mimosas and have like a fun
- 2:45Speaker 3: little like thing. And everybody's like, she's nineteen.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Yeah, not all right? Yeah, so I was.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Excited to have a mimosa with you, But I'll wait
- 2:54Speaker 3: a couple of years.
- 2:55Speaker 2: Yeah, yes, we can wait a little bit longer. I
- 2:58Speaker 2: do think people forget how young you are, because in
- 3:01Speaker 2: just the I feel like two years where you've been
- 3:04Speaker 2: on Dance with the star's been a prolce with the stars,
- 3:06Speaker 2: it feels like there's this element of you being older.
- 3:09Speaker 2: You seem so grounded and mature, and I wonder what
- 3:13Speaker 2: it's been like for you coming onto a show where
- 3:16Speaker 2: you are significantly younger than most of the cast. What
- 3:19Speaker 2: has that been like for you. It's honestly crazy.
- 3:21Speaker 5: But like the fact that I've been able to do
- 3:23Speaker 5: this at nineteen years old, like actually achieve one of
- 3:26Speaker 5: my biggest dreams, is so just fulfilling for me.
- 3:29Speaker 2: And ye cool.
- 3:31Speaker 5: It's been really interesting to be in this crowd of
- 3:33Speaker 5: people who are so experienced in what they do and
- 3:36Speaker 5: have been doing their job for so long. But it's
- 3:39Speaker 5: so cool to kind of like bring that young energy.
- 3:41Speaker 2: I also have.
- 3:42Speaker 5: Loved having Ezra, one of my best friends, as a
- 3:45Speaker 5: pro this year. It's just been so fun. And I
- 3:48Speaker 5: don't know, I love that they all ask me for
- 3:49Speaker 5: advice on tiktoks and what they should post and I
- 3:52Speaker 5: don't know, I.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Just see that's so fun, so funny.
- 3:55Speaker 3: So you started when you were seventeen.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Yes, well no, so I started when I was eighteen.
- 3:59Speaker 3: Okay, okay, yeah, So it's been Yeah, it's.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Been a year. I'll be twenty in June, so okay, okay, yes,
- 4:05Speaker 2: that'll be like two years.
- 4:06Speaker 5: But yeah, it's so crazy, like just being amongst people
- 4:11Speaker 5: who were co workers with my oldest sister and like
- 4:14Speaker 5: they were kind of like my older siblings and they
- 4:17Speaker 5: still are and I feel like they have that like
- 4:19Speaker 5: protectiveness towards me, which I think is really sweet. But
- 4:21Speaker 5: it's so cool to be amongst people that I truly
- 4:23Speaker 5: looked up to my whole entire life and I'm dancing
- 4:25Speaker 5: alongside them.
- 4:26Speaker 2: It's just really amazing. Did you coming into this at
- 4:29Speaker 2: eighteen and you had so much You already had attention
- 4:32Speaker 2: on you because you're Lindsay's the little sister and she
- 4:35Speaker 2: was she was so loved on the show, and there
- 4:38Speaker 2: was already that excitement to have you there, and then
- 4:39Speaker 2: you get paired with Harry and there's all this attention
- 4:43Speaker 2: on you and like focus on are they friends? Is
- 4:46Speaker 2: there more? Were you really overwhelmed last year? It was
- 4:49Speaker 2: pretty overwhelming?
- 4:50Speaker 5: Like it wasn't I mean, I didn't really dive into
- 4:54Speaker 5: it too much, but it was It was hard. Yeah,
- 4:56Speaker 5: Like to go from being just a small town Utah
- 4:59Speaker 5: girl friend out of high school and to like be
- 5:02Speaker 5: projected like that online and have so many things come
- 5:05Speaker 5: out a lot of just crazy people involved in just
- 5:09Speaker 5: the whole situation was hard.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Like it definitely like took a toll.
- 5:13Speaker 5: But at the same time, I was doing what I loved,
- 5:16Speaker 5: which was dancing, and I was accomplishing one of my
- 5:19Speaker 5: biggest dreams. So I feel like I really just wanted
- 5:21Speaker 5: to focus on that and really wanted to make sure
- 5:23Speaker 5: I was doing my job and like really fulfilling everything
- 5:26Speaker 5: I needed to fulfill. But yeah, it's kind of crazy
- 5:28Speaker 5: to like literally I graduated in May and then I
- 5:31Speaker 5: moved to LA in August and it was just like bam,
- 5:35Speaker 5: and like I had like had social media attention before,
- 5:38Speaker 5: kind of like you said, but nothing like I had
- 5:41Speaker 5: just this last year.
- 5:42Speaker 2: So it was pretty crazy.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Well, yeah, pardon my I was last year wasn't as
- 5:47Speaker 3: into dance. I've had my ups. Dancing with Stars has
- 5:50Speaker 3: been around for how many seasons?
- 5:51Speaker 5: Now?
- 5:52Speaker 2: Seasons? Is it? Thirty three? Yeah? So crazy?
- 5:54Speaker 3: That is so crazy, so long, I know, but it's awesome.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:58Speaker 3: So I've had my ups and my down So season
- 6:00Speaker 3: I wasn't as involved as I am this season. What happened?
- 6:05Speaker 3: So it was just you were partnered with Harry Jowsey
- 6:09Speaker 3: and there was just people thought that you were dating,
- 6:11Speaker 3: and then what would they do? They would just like
- 6:12Speaker 3: comment on your videos like tell us what's going on?
- 6:15Speaker 3: Were they just like really wanting because I feel like
- 6:17Speaker 3: people are doing that this season with other people.
- 6:19Speaker 5: Yeah, well they do that a lot, Like with a
- 6:20Speaker 5: lot of the couples, it's always just like are they together?
- 6:23Speaker 2: Are they not?
- 6:23Speaker 5: Because you're dancing, you're spending someone time together. But yeah,
- 6:26Speaker 5: so last year everyone just was kind of just like,
- 6:29Speaker 5: are you guys dating, Like just constantly asking that and
- 6:32Speaker 5: leaving comments about it, very involved in like my life
- 6:35Speaker 5: outside too, like wanted to get inside, scooped to it all.
- 6:38Speaker 5: Anytime me and Harry were together out in public, it
- 6:40Speaker 5: was very much like, Okay, let's get a video of this,
- 6:43Speaker 5: and like let's make a point of that, which is
- 6:45Speaker 5: just so crazy and so not something I was experienced with, right,
- 6:49Speaker 5: But yeah, it was just kind of like that that
- 6:50Speaker 5: whole season, just kind of like are they dating?
- 6:53Speaker 2: Are they not?
- 6:54Speaker 1: And it was just so crazy when you got paired
- 6:58Speaker 1: with him, then were you like, I mean, because he's
- 7:00Speaker 1: so I think visually y'all are so both so cute
- 7:04Speaker 1: and so and he has this bad boy reputation and
- 7:08Speaker 1: you're this sweet.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Young girl that come from Utah, and I think there
- 7:12Speaker 2: was that like almost storybook thing of the bad boy
- 7:16Speaker 2: with the good girl and then y'all are both cute
- 7:18Speaker 2: and then you're dancing together and you're making him. I
- 7:22Speaker 2: wouldn't say a great dancer, but a better dancer to
- 7:24Speaker 2: come into it. Yeah, And I do think there was.
- 7:28Speaker 2: You know, people make fan edits and they put a
- 7:30Speaker 2: cute song over it, and I found myself being like,
- 7:33Speaker 2: oh yeah, wait, I don't want her with it.
- 7:38Speaker 5: No, Yeah, I definitely think there was. There's a lot
- 7:40Speaker 5: of like shipping going on, and like, honestly, like it
- 7:44Speaker 5: was just all very natural. We had a great time
- 7:46Speaker 5: together and our season was really good, and I think
- 7:49Speaker 5: what we posted online just kind of like showcase that
- 7:52Speaker 5: and showcase like the actual like fun that we had together.
- 7:55Speaker 5: But yeah, it was just so crazy to like see
- 7:58Speaker 5: all those edits.
- 7:59Speaker 2: And I'm watching them. I'm like, interesting, that's not quite
- 8:02Speaker 2: where we're at right now, though, So funny. Yeah, yeah,
- 8:06Speaker 2: that is weird how people the Internet will take something
- 8:09Speaker 2: and then you're you're being the person that it's about
- 8:11Speaker 2: watching it, Like that's not exactly how it is, Like, yeah,
- 8:14Speaker 2: it's not.
- 8:15Speaker 3: The real real life, but that's in the entertainment industry,
- 8:18Speaker 3: you know what I mean. People take videos and photos
- 8:20Speaker 3: of anybody just out Let's say you're like at a
- 8:22Speaker 3: club and you end up like walking next to somebody's
- 8:24Speaker 3: table and then they take photos and then all of
- 8:26Speaker 3: a sudden, those people are together. Do you know what
- 8:27Speaker 3: I mean? It's like it's all smoke and mirrors. It's
- 8:29Speaker 3: actually pretty crazy.
- 8:30Speaker 5: But also sometimes what is posted online and what is
- 8:33Speaker 5: said online can be very true, which is crazy.
- 8:39Speaker 2: I don't know, guys, I.
- 8:40Speaker 5: Don't know.
- 8:43Speaker 2: You do y'all still talk? Do you and Harry or
- 8:45Speaker 2: is it kind of like that was like part of
- 8:48Speaker 2: y'all's That was y'all's friendship, and y'all did what y'all
- 8:50Speaker 2: did for Dancing and the Stars, and you've both moved on.
- 8:53Speaker 5: I mean, I'm very supportive of the life that he lives,
- 8:55Speaker 5: and I hope all is well with him. He came
- 8:58Speaker 5: to one of the tapings and I got to say hello,
- 9:01Speaker 5: But yeah, we're kind of just on our own paths
- 9:03Speaker 5: right now.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Great, and you have just hard launched your relationship, which
- 9:09Speaker 2: is not rumors and not nospiracies. It's true. It's real,
- 9:13Speaker 2: hosted by you. It had a very Taylor Swift vibe
- 9:19Speaker 2: to it.
- 9:20Speaker 5: He's a football player, yes, and he's a tight end
- 9:23Speaker 5: like Travis Kelcey, So it's kind of perfect.
- 9:27Speaker 3: I love it, do you feel like that that relationship
- 9:30Speaker 3: works because I feel like when we talk to all
- 9:31Speaker 3: the pros from Dancing with the Stars, their life, your
- 9:34Speaker 3: your your life is very much like an athlete. It's
- 9:37Speaker 3: like sleep, eat, work, repeat, you know, and like that's
- 9:41Speaker 3: the same as like an athlete. And I feel like,
- 9:43Speaker 3: is that helpful in your relationship because you kind of
- 9:45Speaker 3: have that same mindset.
- 9:46Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:47Speaker 2: No, it's so nice because we are both so busy.
- 9:49Speaker 5: Like for me, I going into this season, I had
- 9:53Speaker 5: no intention of having a boyfriend or like getting into
- 9:55Speaker 5: a relationship or getting into a relationship honestly anytime soon,
- 9:59Speaker 5: because I always thought it would add to my plate
- 10:01Speaker 5: and make my life harder. But having Walker, it's like
- 10:05Speaker 5: every time I'm with him, it's just like the thoughts
- 10:08Speaker 5: of like the stress of the show and like the
- 10:10Speaker 5: hardness of the show completely goes away and I'm just
- 10:13Speaker 5: like focused on him.
- 10:15Speaker 2: I'm completely unplugged from like.
- 10:16Speaker 5: The world outside, and so it's just really special to
- 10:19Speaker 5: be able to have that. And I think we're kind
- 10:20Speaker 5: of that like safe haven for each other because his
- 10:22Speaker 5: life is crazy.
- 10:24Speaker 2: He's in the midst of his football season.
- 10:26Speaker 5: But it's like when we're together, it's just like all
- 10:28Speaker 5: those worries kind of go away. And so it's just
- 10:31Speaker 5: been so nice because I'm like it was hard for me,
- 10:33Speaker 5: like dating for a second there, I was just like
- 10:36Speaker 5: every person.
- 10:36Speaker 2: I was just like, I don't want to I'm.
- 10:38Speaker 5: Not emotionally available for this, Like I don't have the
- 10:40Speaker 5: if I can't even like focus on myself, there's no
- 10:42Speaker 5: way I could focus on somebody else. With Walker, it's
- 10:45Speaker 5: just like different, Like I feel like he just adds
- 10:48Speaker 5: and makes it just so much better.
- 10:50Speaker 2: So y'all launched? How two weeks ago? Yes? Yes, since
- 10:56Speaker 2: you post something. My caption was like, is this a
- 11:00Speaker 2: hard launch? I watched my relationship. I said, I don't
- 11:04Speaker 2: know if this is a hard launch or a soft launch,
- 11:06Speaker 2: but it's a launch.
- 11:07Speaker 5: Yes.
- 11:07Speaker 2: I love that it's still a thing. So that was
- 11:12Speaker 2: two weeks ago. How long have you all been together
- 11:14Speaker 2: before you publicly posted? Y'all's a relationship.
- 11:18Speaker 5: So kind of quick. Honestly, we were dating for about
- 11:24Speaker 5: a week before we posted, but we have been talking
- 11:27Speaker 5: for like a month and a half.
- 11:28Speaker 2: Okay, yes, how did y'all meet? So crazy?
- 11:32Speaker 5: There's just so many coincidences and invisible strings. Yes, literally,
- 11:37Speaker 5: so basically his aunt was my uber driver like a
- 11:41Speaker 5: couple not a couple of weeks ago, like months ago,
- 11:44Speaker 5: and she was just like driving. She's like, I think
- 11:46Speaker 5: you're such a cute girl. Like don't want to sound
- 11:47Speaker 5: weird or anything. She's like, I have a nephew that's
- 11:49Speaker 5: playing football over at usc Like just look at his
- 11:52Speaker 5: Instagram and just like give him a follow or something.
- 11:54Speaker 2: And I was just like, okay, I.
- 11:56Speaker 5: Like looked up and I was like, oh, yeah, he's
- 11:58Speaker 5: really cute. So I was like interested at that point.
- 12:00Speaker 5: And then a couple of weeks go by and all
- 12:02Speaker 5: of a sudden, my mom and sisters sent me a
- 12:04Speaker 5: video on like our group chat that we have of him,
- 12:07Speaker 5: and they were like, you need to reach out to him,
- 12:09Speaker 5: like you need to like do something because he's here
- 12:12Speaker 5: in California, like he's super cute.
- 12:14Speaker 2: And I was like, wait, no way, you guys.
- 12:16Speaker 5: His aunt was my uber driver like a couple of
- 12:18Speaker 5: weeks ago, and they were like, Riley, you have to
- 12:21Speaker 5: reach out. So I then followed him on Instagram. Then
- 12:25Speaker 5: to find out that my brother in law works with
- 12:27Speaker 5: his best friend's dad, and so then my brother in
- 12:30Speaker 5: law texted his dad and that was kind of how
- 12:32Speaker 5: it connected. And then once I followed him, Walker then
- 12:34Speaker 5: DMed me and then.
- 12:36Speaker 2: The rest is the opening line, Oh what did he say?
- 12:41Speaker 2: I can't even remember. I was just like, hey, what's up. Hey.
- 12:49Speaker 2: I'd have to pull it up because I can't remember.
- 12:51Speaker 5: But yeah, it's just been so crazy because now that
- 12:53Speaker 5: we're getting to know each other, like he's from northern
- 12:55Speaker 5: California and I'm from Utah, but we have so many
- 12:58Speaker 5: connections and we know so many the same people. He
- 13:01Speaker 5: visits Utah like all the time, so it's kind of
- 13:02Speaker 5: crazy that we hadn't met already, but it just kind
- 13:05Speaker 5: of feels like the most perfect time that we did meet.
- 13:07Speaker 2: It's just crazy.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Wow, I love an invisible string story.
- 13:10Speaker 5: I don't even get there are so many. Every day
- 13:13Speaker 5: we're just like, wait, maybe we're like cousins.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Or I don't know, this is weird before we get
- 13:18Speaker 2: to like, let's check this real quick? Did me did sure? So? Wait?
- 13:27Speaker 2: So i'm your parents or your sister, and mom didn't
- 13:30Speaker 2: know about your the aunt and the uber. They just
- 13:33Speaker 2: saw a video, a random video of him.
- 13:35Speaker 5: Yeah, a video of him just came up on their
- 13:37Speaker 5: for you page. Send it to me, and they're like
- 13:38Speaker 5: he's so cute right, like you need to reach out
- 13:40Speaker 5: And I was like, no, you guys are gonna die
- 13:42Speaker 5: about what I'm gonna tell you right now. So it
- 13:44Speaker 5: was actually so crazy, Like I literally can't believe it.
- 13:47Speaker 2: Did you have a lot of people before, like while
- 13:50Speaker 2: you were in the dating world and dating scene? Did
- 13:53Speaker 2: you were you dating through people you met in your
- 13:55Speaker 2: d ms or how what was the dating process? Because
- 13:58Speaker 2: I imagine you get inundatd with lots of vib message
- 14:02Speaker 2: requs to take you on a date. So how did
- 14:04Speaker 2: you even weed out? Like I guess what got your
- 14:08Speaker 2: attention to even say yes to dates with guys?
- 14:11Speaker 5: For me, all the dates that happened were through mutuals
- 14:15Speaker 5: like I was told by friends to go out with
- 14:17Speaker 5: this person, or like my sisters or brother in laws
- 14:20Speaker 5: knew this person, Like that's how I always directed my
- 14:23Speaker 5: dates because again, like I don't know, couldn't It can
- 14:25Speaker 5: be scary to just go on a date with a
- 14:27Speaker 5: random person you've never met before, no background of so
- 14:31Speaker 5: I feel like I always went on a date with
- 14:33Speaker 5: somebody that was a mutual of mine. But like dating
- 14:36Speaker 5: in Utah is just like not it, Like guys are
- 14:43Speaker 5: just not my vibe.
- 14:44Speaker 2: And that's okay, like there are other people's.
- 14:47Speaker 5: Vibes, but like every single day I went on I
- 14:49Speaker 5: was just like I remember, literally a couple of days
- 14:51Speaker 5: before me and Walker had started talking, my mom was
- 14:54Speaker 5: just like, you need to meet people, like you need
- 14:55Speaker 5: to go on dates. I'm like, Mom, I can't, Like
- 14:57Speaker 5: I'm exhausted, like these people like they run me thin,
- 15:01Speaker 5: and like I just can't. I don't have the mentality
- 15:03Speaker 5: for that, and I just like I'm not in the
- 15:05Speaker 5: position for that.
- 15:06Speaker 2: She's like, okay, like you do you And then Walker
- 15:08Speaker 2: came along and it was just the easiest thing ever.
- 15:11Speaker 2: So that's it's so true, like when someone can provide that,
- 15:14Speaker 2: like what you were saying, you had so much on
- 15:16Speaker 2: your plate and you're like, I don't even know if
- 15:17Speaker 2: I can give anymore to anyone else, and when they
- 15:20Speaker 2: can take that load and just like make it disappear,
- 15:23Speaker 2: that's such a good sign that you're with the right person.
- 15:27Speaker 5: Yes, no, I agree, And I feel like I've been
- 15:30Speaker 5: through a lot of guys that are just like not great,
- 15:33Speaker 5: and so to like be with somebody who truly just
- 15:36Speaker 5: like compliments my life and just makes me feel like
- 15:40Speaker 5: seen and just heard and just I don't know.
- 15:42Speaker 2: It's just awesome and it's kind of hard.
- 15:44Speaker 5: Like when you're in a relationship where it's like not
- 15:46Speaker 5: so good, you think that's the reality and you think
- 15:48Speaker 5: that's what you're gonna get every.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Time you're with somebody.
- 15:51Speaker 5: So I feel like it's just like it takes time
- 15:53Speaker 5: to like actually find somebody that'll like give that to you.
- 15:56Speaker 5: But like that person will come along, like there's no
- 15:59Speaker 5: doubt that it will. It just is gonna take some
- 16:01Speaker 5: time and you're gonna have to go through a couple
- 16:03Speaker 5: of bad eggs before you find a good one.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Is he your first serious relationship? No, I've been in.
- 16:10Speaker 5: I've been in a serious relationship like boyfriend and girlfriend,
- 16:12Speaker 5: and then I've been in another serious relationship that just
- 16:14Speaker 5: wasn't necessarily like official, but I would say it was
- 16:17Speaker 5: pretty serious.
- 16:18Speaker 2: Yeah, like your feelings were serious. Yes, yeah, so this
- 16:22Speaker 2: is exciting, Yes, this is this feels good, This feels great.
- 16:25Speaker 3: I do I love an athlete for you? Yes, you,
- 16:28Speaker 3: but I just I don't know. I just oh, every
- 16:30Speaker 3: time your grind and your lifestyle is very much like that. Yes,
- 16:35Speaker 3: I need to get me some of that.
- 16:37Speaker 2: You are not marrying an athlete. No no, no, no, no,
- 16:40Speaker 2: I'm not.
- 16:41Speaker 3: I want that athlete mentality.
- 16:44Speaker 2: She's ready to become an athlete to discipline and.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Yeah, like I like, I just think it's really good.
- 16:50Speaker 3: And I feel like having that as a partner is
- 16:52Speaker 3: probably just like so nice.
- 16:54Speaker 5: It's so important, especially for the life that I have,
- 16:56Speaker 5: and that someone who like understands the work that you
- 16:59Speaker 5: have to put in is just really important.
- 17:02Speaker 3: And I know that there's obviously that we were talking
- 17:04Speaker 3: about last season, the interest in your love life and
- 17:06Speaker 3: this season the interest in your love life. And I
- 17:08Speaker 3: feel like you're you share a lot, but you also
- 17:10Speaker 3: share a lot about your diabetes and your diagnosis. And
- 17:13Speaker 3: I want to talk about because I don't know. So
- 17:15Speaker 3: I know it's an autoimmune it's an autimmune disease, right,
- 17:19Speaker 3: So how does it affect you? How does it affect
- 17:20Speaker 3: your dancing? How does it affect your day to day?
- 17:23Speaker 5: It affects my It takes over my life, like it
- 17:26Speaker 5: is something that is always on my mind. So basically
- 17:30Speaker 5: I have to be super aware of my blood sugars
- 17:32Speaker 5: at all times. Anytime I eat food that has carbs
- 17:35Speaker 5: in it, I have to give myself a shot of insulin.
- 17:38Speaker 5: So anytime, yes, anytime I eat food, So I have
- 17:42Speaker 5: to do about like i'd say, seven minimum shots every
- 17:46Speaker 5: single day. I have to always be aware because if
- 17:50Speaker 5: my blood sugar goes too low, I could literally die,
- 17:54Speaker 5: and so I have to be really aware that I'm
- 17:55Speaker 5: like keeping my blood sugar stable. If my blood sugger
- 17:57Speaker 5: gets too high, I'll feel super like yuck and just
- 18:00Speaker 5: like not good. And then later on in life it
- 18:02Speaker 5: can affect me like really poorly if I let my blood.
- 18:05Speaker 2: Sugars get too high.
- 18:06Speaker 5: But it's something that like I really have to take
- 18:09Speaker 5: responsibility for because it is so important to you know,
- 18:12Speaker 5: take care of yourself with type one, because it's just
- 18:15Speaker 5: it's hard. And yeah, I know it's definitely hard with
- 18:17Speaker 5: dancing too, because like I dance so much and I'm
- 18:20Speaker 5: at the studio and I'm just so invested. The last
- 18:23Speaker 5: thing I want to think about is my blood sugar
- 18:25Speaker 5: and like whether or not I can eat this piece
- 18:27Speaker 5: of bread without insulin.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Just like kind of stuff like that.
- 18:30Speaker 3: So if you were to eat a salad, let's you
- 18:31Speaker 3: already a salad with like chicken, I you didn't, you
- 18:33Speaker 3: wouldn't have to do that.
- 18:34Speaker 5: No, but like say there's like crotons or like dressing,
- 18:37Speaker 5: then yes, I would. So like there's certain like protein,
- 18:40Speaker 5: totally fine. So if I have like a steak, yes,
- 18:43Speaker 5: a steak, chicken, turkey, I can have all the cheese
- 18:47Speaker 5: I want. Yeah, that's basically it just like protein fats
- 18:52Speaker 5: just zero carbs.
- 18:53Speaker 2: But I can eat carbs. I just have to get
- 18:56Speaker 2: myself insulin for it. How old were you when you
- 18:58Speaker 2: were diagnosed?
- 18:59Speaker 5: I would sixteen years old, so it's been three years now.
- 19:03Speaker 5: It was the biggest live switch ever.
- 19:06Speaker 3: I was gonna say, but how did you find that out?
- 19:07Speaker 3: At sixteen?
- 19:08Speaker 5: So I was in the heat of my dance season
- 19:11Speaker 5: and I was just super busy, so I was naturally
- 19:13Speaker 5: just I thought I was just really tired, really thirsty
- 19:16Speaker 5: experiencing all those symptoms, and I was.
- 19:20Speaker 2: Just like eating all the time, I was peeing all
- 19:23Speaker 2: the time.
- 19:23Speaker 5: But I was just like, I'm so tired, I'm exhausted,
- 19:25Speaker 5: I'm traveling every weekend for dance, Like this just makes sense.
- 19:28Speaker 5: And then I remember I went to dance one day
- 19:31Speaker 5: and I like ate so much food because I was
- 19:34Speaker 5: just starving, and I passed out in my friend's car.
- 19:37Speaker 5: And then I went over to the hospital that day
- 19:39Speaker 5: and my blood sugar was onenty twenty three and it's
- 19:42Speaker 5: supposed to be eighty to one twenty.
- 19:44Speaker 2: Oh my god. Yes.
- 19:45Speaker 5: So I was literally like I think if I wouldn't
- 19:47Speaker 5: have gone to the hospital that night and I would
- 19:49Speaker 5: have gone to bed, I think I would have died
- 19:50Speaker 5: that night because I was like really like I was
- 19:53Speaker 5: really close to like going into a coma and like
- 19:55Speaker 5: just craziest stuff.
- 19:57Speaker 2: So I got admitted to the hospital.
- 19:59Speaker 5: I was there three days, and basically those three days
- 20:01Speaker 5: you're kind of just getting like fluids, getting your body right.
- 20:05Speaker 5: I was in the ICU for like the first night,
- 20:08Speaker 5: and then the rest of the days you're training because
- 20:10Speaker 5: diabetes is really hard, like it's a whole life switch,
- 20:13Speaker 5: and you need to know how to manage it. You
- 20:15Speaker 5: need to know how to give yourself shots, you need
- 20:17Speaker 5: to know how much to give yourself. You do to
- 20:19Speaker 5: know how to measure your blood sugar. You to learn
- 20:21Speaker 5: about all the devices that they have in technology. So
- 20:24Speaker 5: it was like a full three days of just training
- 20:26Speaker 5: to get me ready to go with life. And I
- 20:29Speaker 5: honestly haven't felt like set with diabetes or feel like
- 20:32Speaker 5: I have like really gotten it until about a year ago.
- 20:36Speaker 5: So it took me about two years to get like, Okay,
- 20:39Speaker 5: I can do this and I can manage it on
- 20:40Speaker 5: my own.
- 20:41Speaker 2: But craziest life switch.
- 20:42Speaker 5: But a good thing about it is I don't really
- 20:44Speaker 5: remember life before, Like I feel like I've always had
- 20:47Speaker 5: Type one throughout my whole life, Like I don't remember
- 20:49Speaker 5: just like chilling and eating food without thinking about my
- 20:52Speaker 5: blood sugar, which is really nice. So it's kind of
- 20:54Speaker 5: just this new life that I live. And some days
- 20:57Speaker 5: are harder than others. Some days I'm like why do
- 20:58Speaker 5: I have this? But some days I'm like, I'm good,
- 21:00Speaker 5: this is chill.
- 21:01Speaker 3: So do you always just have the shots on you
- 21:03Speaker 3: at all times?
- 21:04Speaker 2: Yes, so I have.
- 21:05Speaker 3: It's a little griggerated.
- 21:06Speaker 2: Yes. So I have a little like cooler bag and
- 21:08Speaker 2: I put like a cold.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Gel pack in it every day before you leave the house.
- 21:12Speaker 5: Yes, And then I just pack it with the needles
- 21:13Speaker 5: and the insulin and then go about my day. And
- 21:16Speaker 5: then I have a little sensor. Oh wait, I have
- 21:18Speaker 5: it on my arm. I have a little sensor on
- 21:20Speaker 5: my arm and it just tells me what my blood
- 21:21Speaker 5: sugar is.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Like every five minutes on your phone. Yeah, I like
- 21:24Speaker 2: bluetoothe to my phone. Whoa Yeah, So does it give
- 21:27Speaker 2: you like a warning if it's off?
- 21:29Speaker 5: Yees, So it'll beep if it goes too low, and
- 21:31Speaker 5: then it'll beep if it's high. So I'm like, if
- 21:33Speaker 5: I'm in rehearsal it starts beeping, usually it'll be because
- 21:36Speaker 5: I'm low, and then I'll just like have a snack
- 21:37Speaker 5: and then get right back to it.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Do you feel like it almost made you, in a sense,
- 21:58Speaker 2: grow up faster because all of a sudden you're having
- 21:59Speaker 2: to pay attention to these things that yeah, most sixteen years.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Old, like I wouldn't even like you forget that there's
- 22:04Speaker 3: carbs in dress dressing?
- 22:07Speaker 5: Yeah, literally, like, yes, no, it's actually crazy. I definitely
- 22:12Speaker 5: owe so many things to my diagnosis and getting Type
- 22:16Speaker 5: one because I think I was, like, I just matured
- 22:20Speaker 5: so quickly and I learned like how to grow up
- 22:22Speaker 5: and how to take responsibility for the things I was
- 22:24Speaker 5: doing because it is so important to be super smart
- 22:28Speaker 5: with diabetes and like one wrong move and you could
- 22:30Speaker 5: really affect your body. So yeah, I really had to
- 22:33Speaker 5: grow up, and I like I thank diabetes for that
- 22:35Speaker 5: because I don't think I would be where I'm at
- 22:38Speaker 5: and be able to do the things I do if
- 22:39Speaker 5: I wouldn't have gotten Type one, Yeah, would have taken
- 22:41Speaker 5: that responsibility for myself.
- 22:43Speaker 2: And it was like the first six.
- 22:45Speaker 5: Months of having diabetes, I felt like I had grown
- 22:47Speaker 5: up like three years.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Like it's just so crazy.
- 22:49Speaker 5: But so cool, and now I get to like talk
- 22:53Speaker 5: about it and be a voice for it, because like
- 22:56Speaker 5: when I was first diagnosed, I'd always wish that I
- 22:57Speaker 5: could like have somebody to like help me and like
- 23:01Speaker 5: give me pointers or tell me, like it's going to
- 23:03Speaker 5: be okay, your life is going to remain the same,
- 23:05Speaker 5: because I didn't think it was.
- 23:06Speaker 2: I didn't think I was going to be able to dance.
- 23:08Speaker 5: Really and so to be able to like be that
- 23:11Speaker 5: for somebody else, it's just so special.
- 23:14Speaker 2: It's really cool because so many I mean I literally
- 23:16Speaker 2: am like a fangirl for you, and I'm thinking about
- 23:18Speaker 2: all these younger girls seeing you, like literally thinking about
- 23:21Speaker 2: these younger girls who may be a dancer and an
- 23:24Speaker 2: athlete and also diagnose with type one diabetes and they
- 23:27Speaker 2: see someone that they like love, Yeah, doing it with
- 23:31Speaker 2: so much grace and strength. It's really cool. Thank you.
- 23:33Speaker 2: I'm so so happy you're so open to talk about that.
- 23:36Speaker 2: It's really important. Yeah, I know that means a lot.
- 23:38Speaker 3: And I think like also too, when you hear autoimmune disease,
- 23:41Speaker 3: like it's just it can be like very scary and
- 23:44Speaker 3: it comes in so many shapes and forms, and I
- 23:46Speaker 3: feel like you're when you take ownership of it, it's
- 23:49Speaker 3: like a really cool thing. Yes, yeah, and I feel
- 23:51Speaker 3: like you're doing that.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:53Speaker 3: Is that something when you started dating Walker your boyfriend?
- 23:56Speaker 3: Is that something like you had to have a like talk.
- 23:58Speaker 3: Is there something that like he needs to know as
- 24:00Speaker 3: your partner, you know, if something happens, like he needs
- 24:03Speaker 3: to be ready to like step in.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 24:05Speaker 5: No, I've already like given him basically all the training.
- 24:08Speaker 5: He like knows exactly what I need and like knows
- 24:10Speaker 5: what I need based on what my blood sugar is.
- 24:12Speaker 5: So basically this DEXCM thing that I have on you
- 24:16Speaker 5: can like add.
- 24:17Speaker 2: People to your app so they can have access to
- 24:19Speaker 2: your blood sugar.
- 24:20Speaker 5: And so I added him to mine. Like the only
- 24:25Speaker 5: other person I have on that is my mom.
- 24:27Speaker 3: So that's bigger than I love you, I feel, I know, yes, literally,
- 24:34Speaker 3: so he knows my blood sugar at all times.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Sometimes he'll be like, I just like checked your blood
- 24:39Speaker 2: sugar today for fun. I'm like, that's cute. Location is
- 24:45Speaker 2: blood sugar.
- 24:47Speaker 5: But yeah, no, so he basically knows everything. I've kind
- 24:50Speaker 5: of just tried to coach him as much as I
- 24:51Speaker 5: can as we've been together.
- 24:53Speaker 2: But it's cool to see that and like.
- 24:55Speaker 5: How much he cares about it and how much he
- 24:57Speaker 5: like wants to make sure I'm good all the time.
- 24:58Speaker 3: I don't know, it's just when is you have that conversation.
- 25:01Speaker 3: Was it like first date, second date?
- 25:04Speaker 5: Yeah, so it was I think around like second or
- 25:06Speaker 5: third date. I remember my our first date, I like
- 25:09Speaker 5: didn't need insulin for the food we were eating cause
- 25:11Speaker 5: my boods shirk was low, so I didn't pull it out.
- 25:13Speaker 5: But then once I pull it out on the second date,
- 25:15Speaker 5: he was I was like, oh, I have type one diabetes.
- 25:18Speaker 2: It's always the most awkward thing to bring up something.
- 25:20Speaker 2: But let me just like put a shot on my
- 25:22Speaker 2: stea real quick.
- 25:23Speaker 3: No, but I think a lot of people deal with
- 25:25Speaker 3: stuff like that, whether it's diabetes. Yeah, it's something that
- 25:29Speaker 3: is like kind of awkward. It's awkward to bring up,
- 25:32Speaker 3: and I feel like it's always in your approach, you
- 25:34Speaker 3: know what I mean, Like you could sit there and
- 25:35Speaker 3: you can say like.
- 25:36Speaker 2: Oh, excuse me, embarrassed, but.
- 25:39Speaker 3: Now you were like I have diabetes, like I gotta
- 25:42Speaker 3: you know. Yeah, I think it's all in like the
- 25:44Speaker 3: mindset that you like bring in the approach that you
- 25:46Speaker 3: bring to it.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Yes, I agree.
- 25:47Speaker 5: I think it's more just like I don't care and
- 25:49Speaker 5: if it's like if you have there's no way you'll
- 25:51Speaker 5: have a problem with it, but like if you have
- 25:52Speaker 5: a problem with it, then like why.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Are we here?
- 25:55Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 25:55Speaker 2: Right right? Yeah, So I don't know.
- 25:57Speaker 5: I feel like when I first did that, I was
- 25:58Speaker 5: just like, yeah, I have type on. He's like wait
- 26:01Speaker 5: what And then I kind of just like told him
- 26:03Speaker 5: the story of like how it all happened and stuff.
- 26:05Speaker 2: But yeah, okay, I want to talk about Dancing with
- 26:08Speaker 2: the Stars because I we've had Whitney, and we had
- 26:12Speaker 2: we had Whitney and Danny, we had Joey and Jenna,
- 26:14Speaker 2: and we really feel like we're like auditioning for I
- 26:20Speaker 2: love it, but we gosked him. Like first of all,
- 26:22Speaker 2: this season is like, in my opinion, one of the
- 26:24Speaker 2: best cast the show has ever had. Everyone is the
- 26:28Speaker 2: best I'm just like, it's never it's it feels competitive
- 26:32Speaker 2: in the sense that the dancing is so great, but
- 26:35Speaker 2: also just like such a lovable group of people. So
- 26:39Speaker 2: as when you got paired with Steven, were you so excelled?
- 26:43Speaker 2: What was your reaction when you found out? Because he's
- 26:45Speaker 2: an Olympian, so you know he's got the.
- 26:46Speaker 5: Work effic Yes, No, I was so happy, Like just
- 26:50Speaker 5: immediately from the gecko his energy coming into the room,
- 26:52Speaker 5: I was just like, oh, oh, we're here, and this
- 26:56Speaker 5: feels great and we're happy. I don't know, he's just
- 26:59Speaker 5: such a happy guy and he exudes so much light
- 27:03Speaker 5: and happiness, and that's just somebody I want to be around.
- 27:06Speaker 5: And I feel like we are very similar in that
- 27:09Speaker 5: way that we just like always have good positive mindsets
- 27:12Speaker 5: to like everything that we do. So that was really helpful.
- 27:14Speaker 5: And then the fact that he is an athlete. He
- 27:17Speaker 5: literally just came from the Olympics like he is in
- 27:19Speaker 5: tiptop shape.
- 27:20Speaker 2: He works so hard, like literally so.
- 27:23Speaker 5: Hard, and I was just so blessed that he was
- 27:25Speaker 5: the person that walked into the room. But it has
- 27:28Speaker 5: been honestly the best season. It's been so fun.
- 27:32Speaker 2: The whole cast is just so special and.
- 27:34Speaker 5: Like we're all so kind and supportive of each other,
- 27:36Speaker 5: like honestly, every time someone goes home, I'm like, wait,
- 27:38Speaker 5: that was really sad. Like it's just like we've built
- 27:42Speaker 5: this strong relationship with everybody that's been really special, and
- 27:46Speaker 5: Steven has just been the best and we're having so
- 27:48Speaker 5: much fun.
- 27:48Speaker 2: I can't believe.
- 27:49Speaker 5: It's like literally almost the end, Like, h it's so sad,
- 27:52Speaker 5: but it's gone by so quickly, so it's just crazy.
- 27:56Speaker 2: Did you so, Ezra, this was his first season as
- 27:58Speaker 2: a pro and you said he's on your best Friends?
- 28:00Speaker 2: Is her best friend from you told her just from
- 28:03Speaker 2: being on the show from Utah? So I've known him
- 28:05Speaker 2: literally my entire life. Yeah, I didn't realize that. That
- 28:09Speaker 2: is so fun Okay, he was so entertaining to watch
- 28:13Speaker 2: on TikTok, his obsession of well, first of all, him
- 28:16Speaker 2: having Annadelvey as his partner, so crazy tattoo.
- 28:20Speaker 5: Yeah No, he's just psyiconic and it's just so funny.
- 28:24Speaker 2: And I loved following the whole globe and brooking and
- 28:28Speaker 2: then and so much.
- 28:31Speaker 5: Like he's really literally he's so good at it, Like
- 28:34Speaker 5: I just he is like the most perfect person to
- 28:37Speaker 5: put on the show, Like I think he has like
- 28:40Speaker 5: made a light out of crazy situations, Like I think
- 28:44Speaker 5: if anyone else would have been partnered with Anna Deelvey
- 28:46Speaker 5: and had her say nothing like she came from nothing?
- 28:49Speaker 5: Wait did she take away.
- 28:54Speaker 2: To take away nothing?
- 28:55Speaker 5: Like? I don't know. I think Ezra has handled it
- 28:57Speaker 5: such a pro and he's like turn a negative into
- 29:00Speaker 5: a positive so quickly.
- 29:02Speaker 2: I'm so proud of him for that because like so
- 29:04Speaker 2: many people.
- 29:05Speaker 5: Would easily just be like, eh, well there's a bad season, then,
- 29:08Speaker 5: like what can you do about it? But he's just
- 29:10Speaker 5: made it and turned it around and made it to
- 29:13Speaker 5: his own benefit. And I'm just like, wow, you go.
- 29:15Speaker 2: Because that is just so awesome. Like I feel like
- 29:17Speaker 2: if that happened to me, I'd just be like me too.
- 29:19Speaker 5: I.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Just I can't do this anymore? Me too, Yeah, literally
- 29:24Speaker 2: would have broken me. No, literally said nothing after what
- 29:28Speaker 2: their experience is working with literally like.
- 29:31Speaker 3: Okay, but you can't take that seriously, you know, no, no, no, yeah,
- 29:35Speaker 3: but I would you would internalize.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, Garly when you're watching these couples, because you
- 29:40Speaker 2: were the one last season who was speculated about in
- 29:43Speaker 2: a romantic relationship and I feel like when there's two
- 29:45Speaker 2: single people who are paired together, it naturally happens, like
- 29:49Speaker 2: it's a part of the show. And I also think
- 29:51Speaker 2: there's I'm curious if there's an element where if you're
- 29:56Speaker 2: one of those people, you're like, let's use it to
- 29:58Speaker 2: our advantage because people are invested in our relationship. They
- 30:01Speaker 2: want to see us on the show for longer. Yeah,
- 30:04Speaker 2: do you have any details on any of the Jen
- 30:08Speaker 2: and Sasha or I mean, Jen and Sasha have natural chemistry.
- 30:14Speaker 5: I have no idea if they are dating or not,
- 30:17Speaker 5: but they have the most beautiful chemistry together and I
- 30:20Speaker 5: ship them so hard, like just watching them like interact,
- 30:23Speaker 5: like it is very natural, and what they post online
- 30:25Speaker 5: is very much what they are in person.
- 30:28Speaker 2: And so I am a total like route for Gen.
- 30:32Speaker 5: And Sasha because I think they would be so cute
- 30:34Speaker 5: together bricks and glebe no idea.
- 30:39Speaker 2: I can't tell what's.
- 30:40Speaker 5: Going on that I like, I wish I knew what
- 30:43Speaker 5: was going on right now. Well, he was at her house,
- 30:48Speaker 5: like he posted a TikTok like literally in her living room,
- 30:51Speaker 5: but then told me and as a rehearsal it was
- 30:53Speaker 5: his living room, Like that's not the same, that's not
- 30:57Speaker 5: it like you are in her living room.
- 31:00Speaker 2: We have done the research, but none of us know
- 31:03Speaker 2: what's going on with that.
- 31:04Speaker 5: But I will say they had great chemistry from what
- 31:07Speaker 5: I saw, and even off the camera they're very together.
- 31:10Speaker 2: I think.
- 31:11Speaker 5: I don't know, but they're crazy.
- 31:15Speaker 2: Yeah, it's been it's been like a saga off the show.
- 31:17Speaker 2: It's like we're following like a soap opera.
- 31:21Speaker 3: The star season has been literally likes just like a
- 31:24Speaker 3: total saga.
- 31:25Speaker 2: They should do a show called Beyond Dancing with the Stars.
- 31:27Speaker 4: And it's like following everyone outside of like rehearsals.
- 31:30Speaker 5: No, I agree, or like the pros like falling along
- 31:33Speaker 5: with our life and what it looks like outside of
- 31:35Speaker 5: Dancing with the Stars.
- 31:36Speaker 2: Y'all should pitch that. Yeah, we should open.
- 31:39Speaker 5: I feel like it's probably already been pitched, like I
- 31:42Speaker 5: I would imagine it's been pitched.
- 31:43Speaker 2: After this season.
- 31:44Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, but actually, so you brought it up because
- 31:48Speaker 3: the season is coming to an end. So when this
- 31:50Speaker 3: season wraps up, do they, as a pro dancer, do
- 31:53Speaker 3: they like say, oh, we want you for next season
- 31:55Speaker 3: or do you just go season by season and then
- 31:56Speaker 3: they like pick you up?
- 31:58Speaker 5: You go season by season, so they'll pick you up
- 32:00Speaker 5: literally two weeks before you need to be down there.
- 32:02Speaker 2: Oh yeah wow yeah.
- 32:04Speaker 3: So and then when does the next season start? Do
- 32:06Speaker 3: you know?
- 32:07Speaker 5: It'll start same time this year, so like August September.
- 32:10Speaker 5: I think we don't know official dates yet, but I
- 32:13Speaker 5: think it's around that same time. So basically, after this season,
- 32:17Speaker 5: we do a tour. US pro dancers go and do
- 32:19Speaker 5: a tour and celebrities come on the tour as well.
- 32:22Speaker 5: But that happens for about three months, and that's January
- 32:26Speaker 5: through March, and then I am home for all of
- 32:29Speaker 5: the summer, just traveling though.
- 32:31Speaker 2: I'm just kind of like doing my own thing.
- 32:32Speaker 5: And then we'll get a call about two weeks before
- 32:35Speaker 5: we need to be down here again, and you're either
- 32:38Speaker 5: on or you're not. That you don't know until then,
- 32:41Speaker 5: which is kind of crazy.
- 32:43Speaker 2: You did tour last year, though, right, was that your
- 32:45Speaker 2: first time? Yes? How was that experience? Because you're like
- 32:48Speaker 2: living on a bus. Tanya loves the idea of a
- 32:50Speaker 2: tour bus. I find it daunting, but it's so cute,
- 32:53Speaker 2: so fun. No, literally, it was so much fun.
- 32:56Speaker 5: Like I thought, like I had heard from people like
- 32:58Speaker 5: my sister, like she she loved touring, but like the
- 33:01Speaker 5: bunks and like the travel was just not her thing.
- 33:04Speaker 5: But for me, I was like I adapted so well,
- 33:07Speaker 5: like had the mess sleeps on the tour bus, Like.
- 33:10Speaker 2: Living out of a suitcase has never really been my thing.
- 33:12Speaker 5: I've never been good at packing, like my mom always
- 33:14Speaker 5: used to pack for me. But somehow I went out
- 33:17Speaker 5: on tour and it was just like so fun. I'm
- 33:19Speaker 5: just like young too, so I feel like it was
- 33:21Speaker 5: just exciting for me and to be in a new
- 33:23Speaker 5: city and like see that many places in that period
- 33:26Speaker 5: of time, which just so cool. And also performing every
- 33:29Speaker 5: single night for people that are just cheering for you
- 33:32Speaker 5: and that love you and like support you is so
- 33:35Speaker 5: surreal and so cool, and it was like one of
- 33:37Speaker 5: the most fulfilling experiences I've ever had.
- 33:39Speaker 2: So it's really so fun. Yeah, I loved it.
- 33:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I feel like tours, Like, to me, tour's like
- 33:45Speaker 3: a sorority.
- 33:46Speaker 2: I knew you were gonna say that, Yeah, Like that's
- 33:48Speaker 2: what I have.
- 33:49Speaker 3: That's like kind of the like the the camaraderie and
- 33:52Speaker 3: the I don't know, the togetherness that like I feel
- 33:56Speaker 3: is kind of the same.
- 33:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 33:57Speaker 5: No, we're all just like hanging out like on the bus,
- 34:01Speaker 5: like in tight quarters. But it's so fun and it's
- 34:03Speaker 5: like you learn something new about each person every single
- 34:06Speaker 5: day and you're just like, Wow, you're so funny or
- 34:09Speaker 5: you're crazy.
- 34:11Speaker 2: You do come from a family of dancers, and did
- 34:14Speaker 2: you feel, first of all, is there a world where
- 34:17Speaker 2: you and Lindsay could or would be on the same
- 34:20Speaker 2: season together? Is that like a dream? Oh?
- 34:22Speaker 5: Yes, that is like one of my biggest dreams. I
- 34:25Speaker 5: think I would love that so much. Well, I would
- 34:27Speaker 5: love that so much. But just Lindsay right now, she's
- 34:30Speaker 5: just like mom life and it's so hard to commute
- 34:33Speaker 5: down here, oh yeah, with kids, and it just makes
- 34:35Speaker 5: things like pretty tricky. But I think we have to
- 34:38Speaker 5: figure it out at least one of these times, because
- 34:41Speaker 5: it would be.
- 34:42Speaker 2: So fun, like literally so fun. But your other you're
- 34:46Speaker 2: is it four girls?
- 34:47Speaker 5: Yes?
- 34:48Speaker 2: Or four girls? So there's I have three older sisters, okay,
- 34:50Speaker 2: so and everyone's a dancer, right, yes?
- 34:53Speaker 5: So we all Yeah, we all grew up dancing. My
- 34:55Speaker 5: mom owned a dance studio like the first like ten
- 35:00Speaker 5: years of my life, and so she kind of just
- 35:02Speaker 5: like made a little hub for us, got like the
- 35:04Speaker 5: best coaches and we all just kind of grew up
- 35:07Speaker 5: dancing together. And then Lindsay went and to Dance with
- 35:09Speaker 5: the Stars. My second sister was on soete can Dance,
- 35:13Speaker 5: and then Brindley, my closest sister, she danced all the
- 35:16Speaker 5: way until high school and went to nursing school and
- 35:19Speaker 5: then there's me.
- 35:21Speaker 2: So it was so fun and it was so cool
- 35:22Speaker 2: to like.
- 35:24Speaker 5: I don't know, it's not like you go to dance,
- 35:26Speaker 5: but it's like because we were with our sisters, we
- 35:27Speaker 5: were all just getting close and tight because were all
- 35:29Speaker 5: going to dance together and like all just like hanging
- 35:32Speaker 5: out at the studio. And then my mom owned the studio,
- 35:34Speaker 5: so she was with us all day every day, and
- 35:36Speaker 5: I don't know, it was just like really fun like
- 35:38Speaker 5: family affair that we had.
- 35:56Speaker 2: When you were going on Dancing with the Stars the
- 35:58Speaker 2: last year, did Lindsay give you and what was her
- 36:01Speaker 2: advice for you going on the show, Because beyond the
- 36:03Speaker 2: dancing and like having to the core, we our minds
- 36:07Speaker 2: are blown by the choreography that you'll just come up
- 36:09Speaker 2: with multiple dances. I just can't process. It's crazy. But
- 36:12Speaker 2: there's the production of it. There's you know, having people
- 36:15Speaker 2: trying to create a story in a sense. So did
- 36:18Speaker 2: she give you any advice that you really held onto? Yeah, No,
- 36:22Speaker 2: she gave me so much advice, Like Lindsay is.
- 36:25Speaker 5: I call her every single day for simply like how
- 36:28Speaker 5: do I respond to this text?
- 36:29Speaker 2: Like how do I respond to this person?
- 36:32Speaker 5: Like? She helps me every step of the way. But
- 36:34Speaker 5: I think one of the biggest things that she said
- 36:36Speaker 5: to me that I took away was just always remain yourself, Like,
- 36:40Speaker 5: always stay true to who you are, remember who you
- 36:42Speaker 5: are as a person, and like, no matter what people say,
- 36:46Speaker 5: no matter what happens out there, remember who you are
- 36:48Speaker 5: and remember what makes you really happy in life.
- 36:51Speaker 2: And that just kind of I put that thought.
- 36:54Speaker 5: In my mind throughout the whole entire season, because again,
- 36:57Speaker 5: so many things happened for me, and it was a
- 37:00Speaker 5: huge year, and I don't think Lindsay even experienced the
- 37:02Speaker 5: kind of like craziness that my life entiled last year,
- 37:06Speaker 5: and how open my.
- 37:08Speaker 2: Like everything was right.
- 37:11Speaker 5: So it's like what she had said to me helped
- 37:13Speaker 5: me so much just realize, like all of this is
- 37:16Speaker 5: so crazy, but what really matters is who I am
- 37:18Speaker 5: and what I stand for and what I believe in.
- 37:21Speaker 2: And that's all I can focus on.
- 37:23Speaker 5: And if people like me, they like me, and if
- 37:25Speaker 5: they don't, they can kindly unfollow. And it's just kind
- 37:27Speaker 5: of one of those things where it's just like people
- 37:29Speaker 5: are gonna like me for me, and they liked me
- 37:31Speaker 5: because of how I was in the beginning. So I'm
- 37:33Speaker 5: just gonna remain the same and try to stay as
- 37:36Speaker 5: much positive, like have this much positive attitude about like
- 37:40Speaker 5: everything that's going on.
- 37:41Speaker 2: Yeah, it's so true though, because TikTok opened this whole
- 37:45Speaker 2: new world of people to have opinions and speculate, and
- 37:48Speaker 2: likely someone can just make a video about their opinion
- 37:51Speaker 2: and it can go viral and they almost spark other
- 37:54Speaker 2: people to like have that same opinion. It's kind of
- 37:57Speaker 2: a weird thing that happens with Tick. And even when
- 38:01Speaker 2: when I was on The Bachelor years ago, they didn't
- 38:03Speaker 2: have that, and I'm like, thank god, yeah, thank god
- 38:05Speaker 2: that wasn't there.
- 38:06Speaker 3: Literally just pick up part every everything detail.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:09Speaker 5: No, Lindsay was like there was no social media in
- 38:11Speaker 5: my first season of Dances Stars, Like literally all people
- 38:14Speaker 5: saw was the TV screen and she was like people
- 38:16Speaker 5: didn't talk about it, like there was Twitter, Like she
- 38:19Speaker 5: didn't really look at Twitter, but like that was basically it.
- 38:21Speaker 5: So she was like, it was so crazy, Like to
- 38:24Speaker 5: go on TikTok and just have it be about you
- 38:27Speaker 5: is just insane, and like to have that like openness
- 38:30Speaker 5: about it.
- 38:31Speaker 2: It's just so crazy.
- 38:32Speaker 3: Do you go in and look for it or do
- 38:34Speaker 3: you try to avoid it?
- 38:35Speaker 5: I try to avoid it, Like I definitely want to,
- 38:37Speaker 5: like when I'm not working, I want.
- 38:40Speaker 2: To just like focus on life it just myself.
- 38:43Speaker 5: It was really hard last year because it was like
- 38:45Speaker 5: anytime I'd go on my TikTok for you page, my
- 38:48Speaker 5: videos would be about me and Harry and I just
- 38:50Speaker 5: be like, I can't escape it.
- 38:54Speaker 2: It was just like a lot.
- 38:55Speaker 5: It was really fun though, and like I enjoyed it,
- 38:57Speaker 5: but at the same time, I was just like I'd
- 38:59Speaker 5: rather about something else other than like what's going on
- 39:02Speaker 5: in my life right now, you know.
- 39:03Speaker 2: So I'm tired of seeing Harry's face. I'm seeing him
- 39:05Speaker 2: at rehearsals, and.
- 39:07Speaker 3: That's power because I think I would be the opposite.
- 39:09Speaker 3: I feel like I would be watching like get like
- 39:12Speaker 3: one mean comment, I go and I like look that
- 39:14Speaker 3: person's profile to find out everything I can find out.
- 39:17Speaker 5: I did have that problem in the beginning, Like I
- 39:19Speaker 5: was so invested in what people were saying. Yeah, like
- 39:21Speaker 5: if there was any hate, I was like I need
- 39:23Speaker 5: to know, like is there more?
- 39:25Speaker 2: Like what else are they saying about me?
- 39:26Speaker 5: Like I was so invested in that, and like specifically
- 39:30Speaker 5: just this last summer, there were so many things that
- 39:32Speaker 5: were happening in my life and so many things that
- 39:34Speaker 5: were coming out, and I got so sucked into Reddit,
- 39:38Speaker 5: like so sucked in, and like I let it literally
- 39:42Speaker 5: take over my life, Like I let those people's opinions
- 39:45Speaker 5: of how everything in my life was going on like
- 39:48Speaker 5: affect me. And I like had to have a power
- 39:52Speaker 5: with my sisters just kind of like Riley, like it
- 39:54Speaker 5: does not matter, Like what these people say does not matter.
- 39:58Speaker 5: And there's so many people that love and support you
- 40:01Speaker 5: and want the best for you. And it's like even
- 40:04Speaker 5: looking at like there were mean ones, but there was
- 40:06Speaker 5: a lot of support ones. But even looking at that
- 40:08Speaker 5: and trying to look through your life in comments and
- 40:12Speaker 5: on a Reddit page, it's just not how you should live,
- 40:14Speaker 5: even if it's positive, even if they're lifting you up,
- 40:17Speaker 5: it's just not how you should.
- 40:18Speaker 2: Look at it.
- 40:19Speaker 3: And these are still just all these hairy mean ones. Yes,
- 40:22Speaker 3: but what was so let's just say you guys were dating.
- 40:25Speaker 2: What's so bad about that? Wasn't it? Didn't it come
- 40:30Speaker 2: out that he was dating someone else? Yeah? Yeah, okay,
- 40:36Speaker 2: thank you.
- 40:36Speaker 5: I was I was like yeah, I was like, yeah.
- 40:42Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, I know it was kind of crazy, yes.
- 40:45Speaker 4: But yeah's over here, no worries.
- 40:51Speaker 2: No, I do think you're so right. It's like you
- 40:55Speaker 2: as as yeah, that's as to read the negative comments.
- 40:59Speaker 2: It's all so not realistic to see people just like
- 41:02Speaker 2: constantly complimenting you or talking about how beautiful you are.
- 41:05Speaker 4: Because that's not life either, Like you're not like it
- 41:08Speaker 4: feels good, but it's.
- 41:10Speaker 2: Like if you let your like day be affected by
- 41:13Speaker 2: how many nice comment you readers, how many badly comment
- 41:15Speaker 2: read it's like that's not life like, that's not how
- 41:18Speaker 2: we're meant to live. And it's like our brains we
- 41:21Speaker 2: were not created to process so many people's opinions on
- 41:25Speaker 2: who we are. Yeah, don't know us exactly exactly.
- 41:29Speaker 3: I feel like once the season wraps, is it like
- 41:31Speaker 3: a weird It must be because you're dancing all day
- 41:34Speaker 3: every day. Your schedule during this season is.
- 41:37Speaker 2: Like so wild.
- 41:38Speaker 3: And then it just stops. I know you go on tour,
- 41:40Speaker 3: but like is it like a crazy kind of like
- 41:43Speaker 3: juxtaposition like after the season finale.
- 41:45Speaker 5: Yeah. No, I think I feel the weirdest after tour
- 41:49Speaker 5: because it's like once you're done with the season, it's
- 41:51Speaker 5: like you go straight to tour and it's just like
- 41:53Speaker 5: crazy life. Once you get back, it's the weirdest feeling.
- 41:56Speaker 5: It's like you don't like every time you sit still,
- 41:58Speaker 5: you're just like, no, I shouldn't be sitting still. Like
- 42:00Speaker 5: I remember last year, I traveled just about anywhere and
- 42:04Speaker 5: everywhere because I was just like I can't sit still.
- 42:07Speaker 5: But it's this crazy feeling of just because you're used
- 42:09Speaker 5: to that, you're just used to that go go go,
- 42:11Speaker 5: especially on tour, Like it's just so crazy to like
- 42:14Speaker 5: take a moment.
- 42:15Speaker 2: But like it takes you like a month or.
- 42:17Speaker 5: Two to be able to be like Okay, I can
- 42:19Speaker 5: breathe now, Like I can just sit at home and
- 42:21Speaker 5: like chill. But like for those first two months you're
- 42:23Speaker 5: kind of just like I need to keep moving and
- 42:25Speaker 5: doing stuff because it's just you go, go, go.
- 42:27Speaker 2: And then just to stop is just like it's pretty abrupt. Well,
- 42:30Speaker 2: you know, having like sold out crowd screaming for you
- 42:32Speaker 2: every night. So it's like to go home to your
- 42:34Speaker 2: silent home. Yeah, this is weird. You walk in your house,
- 42:40Speaker 2: it's silent. You're like, I'm like, no attention. Have you
- 42:45Speaker 2: and Walker talked about how y'all are going to navigate
- 42:47Speaker 2: because you'll be long distance? Yeah, right, Sad, I've all
- 42:50Speaker 2: talked about it because yeah, yeah, it's going to be
- 42:52Speaker 2: an adjustment. Yeah, no, we've talked about it.
- 42:54Speaker 5: For what's nice about tour is every week I have
- 42:58Speaker 5: a day off and it's in a different city. So
- 43:01Speaker 5: we're planning on like finding days off where he can
- 43:04Speaker 5: come and see me because I can't leave.
- 43:06Speaker 2: Yeah, Like I can't really leave unless I have like
- 43:08Speaker 2: a double day off or multiple days off.
- 43:10Speaker 5: So we're going to try and coordinate where he can
- 43:12Speaker 5: like spend a day off with me and be there
- 43:14Speaker 5: with me. But the nice thing about it is it's
- 43:17Speaker 5: kind of his off season for football when I'm on tour,
- 43:20Speaker 5: so he is able to travel and do things a
- 43:23Speaker 5: little bit more than he would now.
- 43:25Speaker 2: So we're gonna see how that goes.
- 43:27Speaker 5: But like my oldest sister Lindsay, she did long distance
- 43:31Speaker 5: with her boyfriend and she's given me some pointers on
- 43:34Speaker 5: how it all works. But I think it'll be great
- 43:36Speaker 5: because he's just awesome and like texting and calling is
- 43:39Speaker 5: just enough for us.
- 43:40Speaker 2: So I think it'll be good. Y'all are gonna figure
- 43:42Speaker 2: it out. Yeah, we'll figure it out. The invisible strings
- 43:45Speaker 2: always figure it out, always pulls you back together. Yes,
- 43:48Speaker 2: it's true. Yeah, Okay, who in this in the cast
- 43:52Speaker 2: of Dents and the stars with who's left? Who do
- 43:54Speaker 2: you find to be your biggest competition? Ooo? That's a
- 43:58Speaker 2: good question. I don't know. Everyone is really good. Yeah,
- 44:03Speaker 2: it's a strong it's a strong final. Is it? Final five?
- 44:06Speaker 2: Right now? Final six? Sick? Yeah? Six.
- 44:10Speaker 5: Joey is really good, Like he's just a really good
- 44:12Speaker 5: dancer and he's just so like charismatic and people love him.
- 44:17Speaker 5: Danny's getting really good, like he is showing so much improvement.
- 44:21Speaker 5: I know, people love like a climbing story like rising
- 44:24Speaker 5: to the occasion. Chandler's also just so good, like so good.
- 44:29Speaker 5: She's just been really good throughout this whole season. And
- 44:32Speaker 5: then Alona, I'm.
- 44:33Speaker 2: Just obsessed with her.
- 44:34Speaker 5: She's just a queen and like she's like improving every
- 44:37Speaker 5: single episode, and like I just she makes my heart
- 44:41Speaker 5: so happy and everything she stands for is just so amazing.
- 44:44Speaker 2: And then Dwight is.
- 44:45Speaker 5: Just I don't know, everyone's just so good. Like Dwight
- 44:48Speaker 5: is so good, he's improving. He has such a fun personality.
- 44:51Speaker 5: Like whoever goes home next week? Like I'm scared, like
- 44:55Speaker 5: because it's like everyone is so good and I literally
- 44:57Speaker 5: do not know who's gonna go home?
- 44:59Speaker 2: Like, actually, is there a bond between Stephen and Alona
- 45:03Speaker 2: because of the Olympic connection?
- 45:06Speaker 5: Yeah, I feel like I like find them talking about
- 45:08Speaker 5: it a lot, and they're just like really cute when
- 45:10Speaker 5: they like interact because they're both like I don't just
- 45:13Speaker 5: have that athlete mentality. But the funny thing is they
- 45:15Speaker 5: never really interacted that at the Olympics because it's just
- 45:18Speaker 5: like so.
- 45:18Speaker 2: Big their events never really like crossed over.
- 45:21Speaker 5: But like to see them talk and like have this
- 45:23Speaker 5: like competitive like funny, like Banter is just really funny.
- 45:27Speaker 2: I love it. I love her. Yeah, No, she is
- 45:30Speaker 2: the best. Yeah, Like I just love her so much.
- 45:33Speaker 5: And she's so funny, Like anytime you talk to her,
- 45:35Speaker 5: you'll just laugh, like literally beat your pants.
- 45:37Speaker 2: She's so funny. She's so funny. She's so good on TikTok. Oh,
- 45:40Speaker 2: so I feel like you all too, are both like
- 45:41Speaker 2: the TikTok. Yeah, TikTok of the group. She's very Yes,
- 45:46Speaker 2: what's coming up this next week for a Dance to
- 45:48Speaker 2: the Stars dance twice?
- 45:50Speaker 5: Yes, it's so we're recreating an iconic dance that it
- 45:53Speaker 5: existed before on the show.
- 45:55Speaker 3: Can you tell us much one you're doing?
- 45:56Speaker 5: Yes, So I'm doing Charlie and Marx Vieni's waltz from
- 45:59Speaker 5: C thirty one.
- 46:00Speaker 2: Oh so iconic, so amazing, truly one of the best
- 46:04Speaker 2: dances I think Dancing Stars has ever had. So it's
- 46:07Speaker 2: a lot to live up to.
- 46:08Speaker 5: But honestly, like me and Steven are we know we're
- 46:11Speaker 5: not as good as Charlie and Markure, and we like
- 46:15Speaker 5: just we kind of have that mentality. But for us,
- 46:17Speaker 5: like it's one of the most perfect dances to showcase
- 46:20Speaker 5: Steven's like growth and how much he has become a dancer.
- 46:24Speaker 2: And the Vinie Waltz is a very technical dance.
- 46:26Speaker 5: So I think if we can go out there and
- 46:28Speaker 5: like really just showcase that, I think people will be
- 46:31Speaker 5: really proud of Steven.
- 46:32Speaker 2: I'll be really proud of Steven.
- 46:33Speaker 5: Because it's hard, but he really has become a dancer
- 46:36Speaker 5: and I really want people to see that because he's
- 46:38Speaker 5: learned so much and I don't know, he's just so special,
- 46:41Speaker 5: So I hope people see it.
- 46:42Speaker 2: I love that. I love that this season you got
- 46:45Speaker 2: to have a partner where it was like there's been
- 46:48Speaker 2: so much focus of on Yell's friendship and just like
- 46:50Speaker 2: your relationship as dance partners and the growth that he's had.
- 46:53Speaker 2: And yeah, and then like I think people just love you.
- 46:56Speaker 2: So I think people are just always going to be
- 46:58Speaker 2: rooting for you and whoever you wish, whoever you're with. Yeah,
- 47:01Speaker 2: my final question if you I know, y'all don't get
- 47:04Speaker 2: to choose your partner. It's always a surprise, is what
- 47:06Speaker 2: we told. What we were told. If you got to
- 47:09Speaker 2: choose your dream partner, who would it be?
- 47:13Speaker 5: Oh, my top probably Justin Bieber.
- 47:18Speaker 2: Oh, like he would be really good, really good.
- 47:22Speaker 5: Everyone would love him obviously, and like I've had a
- 47:26Speaker 5: crush on him since I was like six years old,
- 47:28Speaker 5: So I think it would just be like the ultimate dream.
- 47:31Speaker 5: He would never do it, and that's not really realistic,
- 47:34Speaker 5: but you know.
- 47:35Speaker 2: That I was asking for a dreamt.
- 47:38Speaker 3: For the stars or what is it for the moon
- 47:40Speaker 3: and you land amongst the stars?
- 47:42Speaker 2: Yes, exactly, You're like, and I'm in love with him.
- 47:46Speaker 2: Walker's like I will be at rehearsal every day.
- 47:51Speaker 4: Like he's married, he has a kid. Okay, I'm not
- 47:53Speaker 4: worried about him, Sonny. Thank you so much for taking
- 48:02Speaker 4: guys so fun.
- 48:03Speaker 2: We're rooting for you. Where can people follow you? And
- 48:06Speaker 2: I feel like people are already following you, but just
- 48:07Speaker 2: in case they're not.
- 48:08Speaker 5: Yes, on Instagram you can find me at Riley Arnold
- 48:11Speaker 5: one TikTok Riley Arnold and then Snapchat where I post
- 48:15Speaker 5: just like all my bts of life.
- 48:17Speaker 2: It's just Riley Arnold as well. Perfect. And then what's
- 48:20Speaker 2: the text for to vote? Oh? Yes, text Steven to
- 48:23Speaker 2: two one, five to three ten times and it's Steve
- 48:26Speaker 2: O a pH pH yea. Yeah. Just gonna clarify. Yeah,
- 48:30Speaker 2: you have to do it right, it doesn't count. Yeah. Literally,
