- 0:05Speaker 1: Hello, gorgeous as Lala Kent, Welcome back to Get them
- 0:08Speaker 1: All a podcast. We are here ready to bump gums
- 0:12Speaker 1: evergreen style, because Mama is ready to give hearts and
- 0:17Speaker 1: I may that's coming, Baby is coming. So today's episode
- 0:22Speaker 1: is going to be about sobriety because we had an
- 0:24Speaker 1: overwhelming amount of people right in with their sobriety stories
- 0:28Speaker 1: and their journeys experiences to the bonus episode that we
- 0:32Speaker 1: did on sobriety, So I just felt the need to
- 0:35Speaker 1: talk about it again. And me and my pregnancy brain
- 0:39Speaker 1: put this shirt on that is so comfortable and is
- 0:41Speaker 1: covered in.
- 0:42Speaker 2: Alcoholic Shout out Kent, whose shirt is that?
- 0:48Speaker 1: But it is my dad's shirt, and it reminds me
- 0:51Speaker 1: of him and in honor of him, because I got
- 0:54Speaker 1: sober six months to the day after my dad's passing.
- 1:00Speaker 1: So let's try to ignore the alcoholic beverages and focus
- 1:04Speaker 1: more on the.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Fact that you've said it before. You're you're good. You're
- 1:08Speaker 3: the first person to pour somebody else to drink.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Enorm me.
- 1:12Speaker 1: If there have been people around me where I'm sensing,
- 1:15Speaker 1: I'm not. I'm not diagnosing, because alcoholism is a self diagnosed.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Diagnosed disease.
- 1:21Speaker 1: But there are moments where I'm like, I'm sensing that
- 1:24Speaker 1: this could be a problem. So I'm not going to
- 1:27Speaker 1: promote drinking with this person. I will offer them all
- 1:32Speaker 1: of the sparkling.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Beverages alcohol free, right. Yeah.
- 1:36Speaker 1: But people who are like super normal and they just
- 1:39Speaker 1: want to get lit because they are celebrating something, Oh honey.
- 1:43Speaker 4: You'll pour? Do you overpour? Sometimes? Like do you have
- 1:45Speaker 4: the people?
- 1:46Speaker 2: Do you?
- 1:47Speaker 3: I remember the last time that drink when I don't drink,
- 1:50Speaker 3: since I haven't been drinking. When I'm with people that
- 1:53Speaker 3: do drink, I'm the first person to be like, hey,
- 1:55Speaker 3: let me pour that for you.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Really?
- 1:57Speaker 5: Hell yeah, because like the pouring of it is kind
- 1:59Speaker 5: of like it's kind of like.
- 2:01Speaker 6: Taking it, you know, like like you're like it's like
- 2:05Speaker 6: you get the placebo effect of like you pour the
- 2:08Speaker 6: shot totally see you take it, You're like, we're fucked.
- 2:14Speaker 5: So yeah, I love I love pouring the drinks.
- 2:17Speaker 3: I may not be the best one to be pouring
- 2:20Speaker 3: them for everybody, right, getting.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Everybody turned, But not everyone is like that.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I have many friends in sobriety who they can't go
- 2:29Speaker 1: out to bars, they can't be around drinking because it
- 2:33Speaker 1: triggers them. So again, I always say that, uh sobriety
- 2:36Speaker 1: is not one size fits all. Everybody's journey and experience
- 2:41Speaker 1: is going to be different. Everybody works the program differently
- 2:43Speaker 1: if you are in the program, which is why it
- 2:46Speaker 1: kind of takes a minute to find your sponsor, you know,
- 2:50Speaker 1: because it's like we're all working the program, but there's
- 2:53Speaker 1: not a play by play on how it's not math.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Two plus two is not always four.
- 2:59Speaker 1: So you and I may be able to pour people drinks,
- 3:03Speaker 1: but not everybody is able to do that.
- 3:05Speaker 4: So you don't drink?
- 3:06Speaker 7: Or is it just like, are you like sober from
- 3:08Speaker 7: alcohol or are you like I'll do it sometimes.
- 3:11Speaker 5: I'm liquor free. Okay, I'm thinking and.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Dude, alcohol free.
- 3:15Speaker 5: Yeah, liquor liquor free.
- 3:17Speaker 4: So you still drink beer?
- 3:18Speaker 1: No?
- 3:18Speaker 5: He doesn't, Yeah, just liquor free. Do you drink beer? No?
- 3:24Speaker 5: Isn't liquor is.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Vodka to ke? Yeah? Hard alcohol is liquor.
- 3:29Speaker 5: And then beer is not like I thought liquor was
- 3:32Speaker 5: in beer.
- 3:32Speaker 2: You should never be able to drink because you don't
- 3:34Speaker 2: even know what it is.
- 3:35Speaker 7: I don't like beer and wine And people say liquor
- 3:38Speaker 7: free they're like, oh, I'll.
- 3:39Speaker 4: Drink beer and wine.
- 3:40Speaker 3: So when Landing was doing his cooking video, he was like,
- 3:43Speaker 3: do you want to help me do this? I was
- 3:45Speaker 3: like no, do you want me to open your high noon?
- 3:47Speaker 3: And he was like yes, And I said, I got
- 3:50Speaker 3: you on that one, so I can do that because
- 3:53Speaker 3: there it is. It's like the placebo effect of me
- 3:55Speaker 3: just like handing it to him.
- 3:57Speaker 5: Yeah, but you already don't drink.
- 4:00Speaker 2: You're dry.
- 4:01Speaker 5: I am dry.
- 4:02Speaker 3: I am all liquor, beer, wines and spilcohol free. Alcohol free,
- 4:09Speaker 3: but I am, and so is Lisa.
- 4:13Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 4:13Speaker 3: Alcohol free marijuana is marijuana, non free marijuana.
- 4:20Speaker 5: Over doing that now.
- 4:22Speaker 4: Enthusiast that I could be happier.
- 4:24Speaker 2: I don't feel like you overdo the weed.
- 4:26Speaker 4: I don't feel like you do either. Actually I wouldn't know.
- 4:28Speaker 5: I guess here's the thing.
- 4:30Speaker 3: Even if I smoke, I know I have to do something.
- 4:33Speaker 3: So it's like my relationship with weed is good. I'm smoking,
- 4:37Speaker 3: but I know I have to get something done. Most
- 4:39Speaker 3: people will smoke and then do nothing, right, So the
- 4:42Speaker 3: relationship I.
- 4:43Speaker 5: Have with marijuana is a good one.
- 4:46Speaker 3: It's like I smoke and now I'm productive, and there's
- 4:49Speaker 3: I don't know why.
- 4:50Speaker 5: Yeah, I get in that month.
- 4:51Speaker 4: Do you only smoke a certain time of day?
- 4:53Speaker 7: Because I remember an ex boyfriend of mine years and
- 4:55Speaker 7: years ago had to start smoking only at night.
- 5:00Speaker 2: No to go to bed.
- 5:02Speaker 5: No, he just he it was like a reward for him, Yes.
- 5:05Speaker 4: A productive day.
- 5:07Speaker 7: And he started realizing like he thought he was productive
- 5:10Speaker 7: when he smoked, but he wasn't. Actually it would just
- 5:12Speaker 7: be a lot of thoughts and ideas. But he's like,
- 5:14Speaker 7: I'm not actually getting stuff done.
- 5:16Speaker 4: So he would smoke at.
- 5:17Speaker 7: Night and it was like a reward. Yeah, like before
- 5:19Speaker 7: bed and stuff. Yeah, do you do that or are
- 5:21Speaker 7: you like you can do it whenever?
- 5:23Speaker 3: No, I smoke, and then I say I need to
- 5:25Speaker 3: do something because I smoke.
- 5:27Speaker 4: That's really good.
- 5:28Speaker 1: So that's my re I feel like you smoke like
- 5:31Speaker 1: the pen And then when it's nighttime and it's like
- 5:34Speaker 1: dusk dusk.
- 5:36Speaker 2: He and land and go out and spark the doobies.
- 5:39Speaker 7: Really, yeah, do you and watch a movie when I smoke?
- 5:42Speaker 7: Those are my favorite. I love a joint or blunt
- 5:46Speaker 7: hits a little hard, but a joint is so like nice,
- 5:50Speaker 7: not like a face or a spliff.
- 5:52Speaker 4: Really, yeah, that's what he said really, Oh yeah, I
- 5:55Speaker 4: always loved the feeling of like rolling this, this.
- 5:58Speaker 7: Is a sobriety I and I'm like, I love.
- 6:03Speaker 4: A good margarita too.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Don't worry, No, don't worry about it. I mean we're
- 6:12Speaker 1: a well rounded podcast.
- 6:14Speaker 7: Okay, I have a question for you, La, do you
- 6:18Speaker 7: because I find it interesting you wrote about your sobriety,
- 6:21Speaker 7: like why you Got Sober in your book.
- 6:22Speaker 4: I do feel like you talk about it a lot
- 6:24Speaker 4: and mention it a lot.
- 6:25Speaker 7: However, it's always the number one people or thing when
- 6:29Speaker 7: we ask whether or not on Amazon Live or whether
- 6:32Speaker 7: or not on in the stories Instagram, what do you
- 6:35Speaker 7: want us to talk about? They're like, Lala, we want
- 6:38Speaker 7: to hear Lala's sobriety journey. Do you Does that get
- 6:41Speaker 7: you frustrated because you're like, I literally talk about it
- 6:44Speaker 7: all the time.
- 6:44Speaker 4: I've told it many times.
- 6:46Speaker 7: Or are you like, okay, yeah, I'll tell it again,
- 6:48Speaker 7: Like how do you feel when that happens?
- 6:50Speaker 2: No?
- 6:50Speaker 1: I feel because there's as I stay in this game
- 6:56Speaker 1: longer and longer, more people find out who I am,
- 7:01Speaker 1: or more people start watching the show or come in
- 7:03Speaker 1: contact with my Instagram, so there's always new people who
- 7:08Speaker 1: maybe haven't heard it, don't know that I have a book.
- 7:11Speaker 1: It's similar to like, it's not about the pasta. We've
- 7:13Speaker 1: explained this that five hundred times, that happened years ago,
- 7:16Speaker 1: and I'm still having to talk about it. Right, sobriety
- 7:20Speaker 1: is not something that I'll ever get sick of because
- 7:22Speaker 1: you're always gonna have people who also are familiar with you,
- 7:26Speaker 1: sobriety doesn't necessarily affect them right now, or they're not
- 7:32Speaker 1: into it, and then all of a sudden they want
- 7:33Speaker 1: to get sober and they're looking for your story because
- 7:38Speaker 1: they heard that I'm sober right.
- 7:41Speaker 2: So, No, I don't get sick of it the posta question.
- 7:43Speaker 2: I get sick of the positive question when I'm done.
- 7:45Speaker 7: We did, Yes, do you mind us asking a couple
- 7:49Speaker 7: questions on your sobriety before we get into other stories
- 7:51Speaker 7: or would you rather get straight into other stories?
- 7:53Speaker 2: No, I'm let's ask questions.
- 7:55Speaker 7: I know one of the most asked questions, and we've
- 7:58Speaker 7: touched on it, but they all always will be like,
- 8:00Speaker 7: what was Lalla's rock bottom moment? Was there a moment
- 8:04Speaker 7: where you're like, that's it, I'm done, I'm sober.
- 8:06Speaker 4: You did have it? In your book. I remember reading
- 8:09Speaker 4: about it.
- 8:09Speaker 7: Yeah, did you feel like the plane and the coloring
- 8:12Speaker 7: on the face like that was the next morning you
- 8:14Speaker 7: were like, that's.
- 8:15Speaker 3: It because also there's a story that you told me,
- 8:18Speaker 3: and I don't know if it was in that same
- 8:20Speaker 3: rock bottom moment, but you were in Vegas. Yeah, at
- 8:23Speaker 3: dinner and you tripped upstairs. No, that was the same trip,
- 8:27Speaker 3: same trip that was in Florida. Yeah, okay, Disney World
- 8:30Speaker 3: there it is.
- 8:32Speaker 1: No, there were there were many moments that I would
- 8:35Speaker 1: say to myself that I needed to reel it in over,
- 8:38Speaker 1: you know, the course of a few years before I
- 8:40Speaker 1: got sober in twenty eighteen, where it was like I'm
- 8:44Speaker 1: not going to get drunk tonight, and then I would
- 8:47Speaker 1: end up drunk again, and then it was like I'm
- 8:49Speaker 1: only going to drink beer and wine. And keep in
- 8:51Speaker 1: mind in the Big Book they talk about this, it's
- 8:55Speaker 1: like literally what I experienced. You try to limit your right.
- 9:01Speaker 1: So I was like only beer and wine. And then
- 9:03Speaker 1: it was like I can have a cocktail, but let's
- 9:05Speaker 1: only have two. And then the cocktails turned into like
- 9:09Speaker 1: in big glasses that really equaled maybe six, right, And
- 9:15Speaker 1: then I did AA for a while where I was
- 9:18Speaker 1: still smoking weed, and then I felt like I was
- 9:22Speaker 1: making a mockery of the program.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Finally I had just given up. I was like, I
- 9:26Speaker 2: like to drink, and everyone's gonna have to just get
- 9:29Speaker 2: over it.
- 9:30Speaker 3: Right.
- 9:31Speaker 1: So I would say that my rock bottom moment did
- 9:33Speaker 1: happen six months after my dad died, because that's when
- 9:36Speaker 1: I really leaned into drinking.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Drinking for me used to just.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Be fun and like we'd go out on the weekends
- 9:44Speaker 1: and it would make me loose back in Utide, go
- 9:46Speaker 1: out maybe twice a month, you know, and I get
- 9:49Speaker 1: a little lit. But it wasn't It wasn't an everyday thing.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Once I moved to LA and then once I met
- 9:58Speaker 1: my ex, it was really bad, okay, And I don't
- 10:04Speaker 1: want to place blame on that situation. I'm just using
- 10:08Speaker 1: that as the time marker of when it got bad.
- 10:12Speaker 5: He made it easy.
- 10:13Speaker 3: Your life was easy for you to drink every day,
- 10:16Speaker 3: the responsibilities lowered. I feel like when you met him,
- 10:21Speaker 3: it's not like he made you drink or things like that.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Your life became easy. You were on a TV show,
- 10:27Speaker 3: Things were taken care of. Your life became easier to
- 10:30Speaker 3: just have fun, on Tuesday Wednesday.
- 10:33Speaker 5: That's how I I.
- 10:34Speaker 2: Just feel like in La, there's something happening all the time.
- 10:38Speaker 5: It's crazy that Friday and Saturday is a slow night
- 10:40Speaker 5: in La. Yeah, you know, it's like it's crazy.
- 10:43Speaker 1: We were like Tuesday through Thursday was when we were
- 10:47Speaker 1: like having the best time ever. And then Friday and
- 10:51Speaker 1: Saturday is when I'd go into sir because my friends
- 10:53Speaker 1: had to work, so like i'd drink, but those weren't
- 10:56Speaker 1: the party nights.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Tuesday through Thursday, it was like, let's fucking go.
- 11:01Speaker 7: You're also, you know, not like it's the elephant in
- 11:04Speaker 7: the room, but you're filming a TV show. I don't
- 11:06Speaker 7: think I could film a reality TV show which thrives
- 11:08Speaker 7: off of drama, thrives off of interactions that are a
- 11:12Speaker 7: little more wild, and not drink because I'd be like,
- 11:14Speaker 7: I'm doing my job. I'm gonna make a TV I'm
- 11:18Speaker 7: gonna get loose lit say some shit. I might not
- 11:20Speaker 7: I might filter myself because cameras are around.
- 11:23Speaker 3: So that probably back to the point of your friend
- 11:25Speaker 3: who moved who had to have drinks to make friends.
- 11:27Speaker 3: It's like how you've felt the need to drink to
- 11:30Speaker 3: make TV. Yeah, fall into that hole.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Yeah, of course, and everyone else is drinking and you
- 11:36Speaker 1: are absolutely terrified being in this new environment.
- 11:41Speaker 2: And then it became my norm.
- 11:42Speaker 1: It was like I would be on movie sets and
- 11:46Speaker 1: be drinking before scenes.
- 11:47Speaker 2: You know.
- 11:48Speaker 1: It was like we were full blown, like off to
- 11:51Speaker 1: the races of alcoholism.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Right. So when I went on.
- 11:57Speaker 1: At that trip to Mexico season seven, and I hadn't
- 12:02Speaker 1: been drinking, but then I started sneaking drinks in the
- 12:04Speaker 1: middle of the season, got wasted in Mexico. After that trip,
- 12:08Speaker 1: I came home and was like, I'm never picking up
- 12:11Speaker 1: alcohol again. At Jackson Brittany's engagement party, you see me
- 12:15Speaker 1: talking to Stossy saying it doesn't mix. I'm gonna be sober.
- 12:20Speaker 1: It did not last, okay. I was still spiraling, And
- 12:24Speaker 1: then it got to the point where I just caved
- 12:27Speaker 1: into the fact that I liked to drink and at
- 12:29Speaker 1: some point it would go away. Mm, Like literally, I
- 12:31Speaker 1: didn't give a fuck. I was like, I'm not ever
- 12:33Speaker 1: gonna question this again. Like, one day I'll get pregnant
- 12:36Speaker 1: and be a mom and that's when I'll stop drinking,
- 12:40Speaker 1: because who would drink pregnant? Well, you'd be surprised. Addiction
- 12:45Speaker 1: is a wild thing, right, So I'm in that zone.
- 12:50Speaker 1: My ex says, I want us to go meet with
- 12:53Speaker 1: a psychiatrist. You know, he's sensing that I need to
- 12:57Speaker 1: talk to somebody. I meet with this woman. As I'm
- 13:01Speaker 1: talking to her, she dismisses my ex and says, like,
- 13:04Speaker 1: I would like to talk to Lalla by herself. We
- 13:07Speaker 1: venture into my drinking habits. She tells me to take
- 13:11Speaker 1: this number down, and I felt like she was pushing
- 13:14Speaker 1: me to get help. So as I'm writing it down,
- 13:18Speaker 1: I was like, are you giving this to me because
- 13:21Speaker 1: you're asking me to be sober, because.
- 13:24Speaker 2: That's not fucking happening.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll get sober when I get pregnant, bitch, not
- 13:30Speaker 1: a few good years, right, And she was like, I'm
- 13:33Speaker 1: not asking you to do anything. I'm asking you to
- 13:35Speaker 1: put this number in your phone. If you use it, great,
- 13:38Speaker 1: if you don't, great. We go to Florida on the
- 13:41Speaker 1: family vacation to Disney Worlds. I am beyond wasted and
- 13:47Speaker 1: not like the fun, like let's get a little buzzed,
- 13:49Speaker 1: you know how. You see like parents that are with
- 13:51Speaker 1: the kids and they're like, there's no driving involved because
- 13:55Speaker 1: you're literally staying on the park and it's like, oh,
- 13:57Speaker 1: that's fun. That person like works really hard, Like I'm
- 14:00Speaker 1: just going to take a load off. My kids are
- 14:01Speaker 1: gonna ride rides. Yes, it was not like that.
- 14:04Speaker 5: I will say it was fun during the mornings.
- 14:07Speaker 4: You were there.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Yeah, everyone was there. Yeah, my exes, whole family, my
- 14:11Speaker 1: whole family. Okay, Brannan and Cheryl. Did anyone else drink
- 14:16Speaker 1: with you or was it a weird like.
- 14:17Speaker 2: I mean, I think no one was keeping up with me,
- 14:20Speaker 2: that's for sure.
- 14:20Speaker 3: But that's the thing is like she was funduring the
- 14:23Speaker 3: morning and the afternoon, but that's where you would hit
- 14:26Speaker 3: that one point of you over drink and then.
- 14:30Speaker 5: Afternoons and dinners became nightmares, me.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Falling down the stairs, I mean, mabing someone to walk
- 14:36Speaker 2: me to.
- 14:36Speaker 3: The bathroom, like the fun that we would have in
- 14:38Speaker 3: the morning because you just had started right and then
- 14:42Speaker 3: the other drinking.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Is just talking about this is taking me to such
- 14:46Speaker 1: a dark place that I'm having to remind myself like
- 14:50Speaker 1: we don't live in that.
- 14:51Speaker 2: No, exactly.
- 14:51Speaker 4: And I also want to get to year one.
- 14:53Speaker 7: When you hit your one and half, you felt like
- 14:55Speaker 7: I want to get to that but I know a
- 14:57Speaker 7: lot of people ask about rock bottom and we can.
- 14:59Speaker 2: We can see.
- 15:00Speaker 1: But this is why I tell people, I think it's
- 15:02Speaker 1: important to talk about your rock bottom moment and in
- 15:05Speaker 1: some way relive it, because it does take you back
- 15:09Speaker 1: to a place where you're like, well, I'm never going
- 15:11Speaker 1: there again, Like I don't want to go there. This
- 15:14Speaker 1: is why we go to meetings because it's a constant
- 15:18Speaker 1: I don't want to say rehashing, but it takes you
- 15:21Speaker 1: to where you can remember your lowest place. And then
- 15:26Speaker 1: when the speaker is sharing, they're taking you to their
- 15:28Speaker 1: lowest place and you're relating, and then all of this
- 15:30Speaker 1: sudden the moment that they get sober and the whole
- 15:33Speaker 1: room feels like they're not suffocating anymore, and you feel
- 15:36Speaker 1: inspired and you go out and you're back to loving sobriety.
- 15:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:41Speaker 1: So we go through Disneyland, me being wasted the entire time.
- 15:47Speaker 1: We're leaving to go back to la We chartered a jet.
- 15:52Speaker 1: We easton, got a bottle of Hennessy in the gift
- 15:54Speaker 1: shop and I was fixated on where it was at
- 15:57Speaker 1: all times.
- 15:58Speaker 2: I got two roadies to take.
- 16:01Speaker 3: The one thing that I will say, I was like yeah,
- 16:03Speaker 3: I want to get some Hennessy for the plane.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I d.
- 16:07Speaker 5: I poured one little drink.
- 16:09Speaker 3: Of cocaine Hennessy and I'm just sipping it, chatting.
- 16:12Speaker 2: I drink the whole thing was gone. And then.
- 16:18Speaker 4: Were you concerned or were you like no, you know, everyone.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Was concerned after this trip.
- 16:22Speaker 5: After this trip, I was concerned.
- 16:24Speaker 2: But remember my family didn't live in l A.
- 16:27Speaker 5: Like, I had never seen her like this.
- 16:30Speaker 1: I think there would have been an intervention. Okay, there
- 16:33Speaker 1: were moments that my mom would talk to Easton. I
- 16:38Speaker 1: did at moments drink and drive and that's.
- 16:42Speaker 5: Where and that's where I almost got it.
- 16:45Speaker 3: But that's where my mother would fly out when she
- 16:49Speaker 3: would call us and we could tell she was drunk,
- 16:53Speaker 3: and she was like, I'm getting away from x Y
- 16:57Speaker 3: and Z, whether that be the person she was with
- 17:00Speaker 3: or the eggs like the fight, but it wasn't always
- 17:04Speaker 3: it was x Y and Z. Whatever the story was.
- 17:06Speaker 3: She was trying to get away, but we knew she
- 17:08Speaker 3: was drunk, but she was driving. And those are the
- 17:13Speaker 3: times where my mother was like, yeah, like I'm flying out.
- 17:18Speaker 3: So that's why she would go out and things like
- 17:20Speaker 3: that is because of those reasons of that, but that's
- 17:24Speaker 3: when we were scared, We were nervous.
- 17:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I was reckless. My life had become unmanageable.
- 17:30Speaker 1: And on that plane ride when I was drinking, it
- 17:35Speaker 1: was I was letting the kids because they were getting antsy.
- 17:37Speaker 1: I was letting them draw with markers on my legs,
- 17:40Speaker 1: letting them put makeup on my face. And then you know,
- 17:43Speaker 1: we get home and funds over were back to reality
- 17:47Speaker 1: and I couldn't get any drunker, and it was I
- 17:51Speaker 1: was depressed.
- 17:52Speaker 2: I had hit that you know, where you want.
- 17:55Speaker 1: To drive your car off of a cliff because you're
- 17:58Speaker 1: just in such a dark place, which is what alcohol
- 18:01Speaker 1: does to a lot of people. And that's why I
- 18:04Speaker 1: would continue to drink the next day because I didn't
- 18:07Speaker 1: want to deal with that level of depression, right, So
- 18:10Speaker 1: the cycle just continued. But I remember waking up the
- 18:13Speaker 1: next morning. Easton was gone, my mom was gone, his
- 18:18Speaker 1: girlfriend that he brought out was gone, and I was
- 18:21Speaker 1: I had scrubbed my legs the night before because I
- 18:24Speaker 1: didn't want to remember the darkness. But it didn't matter
- 18:29Speaker 1: if I did that or not, because all of the
- 18:31Speaker 1: marker was gone off my legs. But I woke up
- 18:35Speaker 1: still and said, like admitted to myself, you're an alcoholic.
- 18:39Speaker 1: You're calling the number that the woman gave you. I
- 18:43Speaker 1: called my partner at the time and said, I need
- 18:46Speaker 1: to talk to you at your office.
- 18:48Speaker 2: Went to his office.
- 18:49Speaker 1: I told him I'm an alcoholic and I'm reaching out
- 18:52Speaker 1: today to get help. I had a meeting that day
- 18:54Speaker 1: about something, and it was just like a very freeing
- 18:58Speaker 1: moment in my life.
- 19:00Speaker 2: For the first time. The elephant had like lifted off
- 19:03Speaker 2: of my chest when I first entered the AA meetings,
- 19:13Speaker 2: because you know, I was going and meeting with my
- 19:14Speaker 2: sober coach. She was like a caseworker, Ashley.
- 19:19Speaker 1: She would call me every day and I would meet
- 19:22Speaker 1: with her every Thursday, and she was trying to link
- 19:24Speaker 1: me up with She knew I was in a delicate
- 19:26Speaker 1: position right I was also on a television show. She
- 19:29Speaker 1: just wanted to handle it with care of I wasn't
- 19:32Speaker 1: Kim Kardashian getting sober, but she just wanted to make
- 19:34Speaker 1: sure I was protected.
- 19:36Speaker 2: And so we found my sponsor. I started going to meetings.
- 19:40Speaker 1: I did the whole thing, and for the first thirty
- 19:45Speaker 1: days I went to this meeting and I had so
- 19:49Speaker 1: much guilt because listening to Sorry, I gotta breathe, no breathe.
- 19:55Speaker 5: Take a couple of them.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Listening to the stories that people were it was like
- 20:03Speaker 1: so many of them got into cars drunk and something
- 20:06Speaker 1: horrible happened. And then here I am getting into cars drunk,
- 20:13Speaker 1: acting fucking reckless for years on end and just nothing happened.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Like what made me so special that my rock bottom
- 20:25Speaker 1: was thirty five thousand feet in the air on a
- 20:27Speaker 1: private jet. Yeah, but this person had to have his
- 20:32Speaker 1: whole life change, you know, you struggle with the guilt
- 20:35Speaker 1: of I just don't understand that, like why does life
- 20:38Speaker 1: work that way?
- 20:39Speaker 2: Like someone make it make sense.
- 20:42Speaker 1: But then after I got through thirty days, this woman
- 20:45Speaker 1: came up to me and she was like, you have
- 20:47Speaker 1: like a bright light to you now, like you came
- 20:50Speaker 1: in so defeated, and I hope me telling you this
- 20:53Speaker 1: makes you come back over and over and over again,
- 20:56Speaker 1: because some people fall off after thirty days.
- 20:57Speaker 2: That's the hardest point to reach.
- 21:00Speaker 4: Is it every day just so I know?
- 21:02Speaker 7: Or is it just like thirty days, like maybe a
- 21:04Speaker 7: couple days here, a couple of days there.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Like meetings, Yes, No, I did ninety meetings in ninety days.
- 21:11Speaker 7: Wowulation amazing whatever.
- 21:15Speaker 2: I walked in and I was like, show me the way.
- 21:18Speaker 1: There's no version of me. Tell me what to do,
- 21:21Speaker 1: what to do, I'll eat dog shit. That'll get me
- 21:24Speaker 1: fucking sober. Like, I don't care.
- 21:26Speaker 2: I want what you have. What do I do?
- 21:28Speaker 7: Okay, So we go back you did after the thirty days?
- 21:31Speaker 7: She said, there's a bright light now. Is that the
- 21:33Speaker 7: pink cloud you were talking about or no?
- 21:35Speaker 2: I think she just saw it in my eyes.
- 21:37Speaker 1: There was clarity, you know, like I look back on
- 21:40Speaker 1: pictures like I'm like, you.
- 21:44Speaker 2: Look like shit.
- 21:46Speaker 1: How did you possibly walk out into the world and
- 21:48Speaker 1: feel confident? Your eyes are bloodshot, your puffy is shit,
- 21:53Speaker 1: your your coloring is off. You look not good, bitch,
- 21:58Speaker 1: and you're going out into the world thinking that you're
- 22:00Speaker 1: hitting right.
- 22:01Speaker 2: That's what alcohol does see you.
- 22:04Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, you guys don't have your summer bots.
- 22:07Speaker 4: You body shame people the false confidence.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Right now, I can go out and have confrontation with people,
- 22:15Speaker 1: but at least I can own it and be like, yeah,
- 22:17Speaker 1: well there was not a proud moment. But I have
- 22:19Speaker 1: no one to blame but myself. I was you know,
- 22:21Speaker 1: I can't blame it on alcohol. I remember everything that happened,
- 22:25Speaker 1: and although that sounds like a shitty thing, we're like,
- 22:27Speaker 1: I can't blame something, right, it actually feels very good.
- 22:31Speaker 4: I was gonna say it probably feels freeing.
- 22:33Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, because to me, it's like embarrassing when I
- 22:37Speaker 7: have to blame alcohol.
- 22:38Speaker 4: I feel like, ugh, how gross? How grow up? I
- 22:43Speaker 4: was drunk. Okay, you're thirty two, get.
- 22:46Speaker 2: It together, get it.
- 22:48Speaker 1: It's not cute in high school where like you leave
- 22:50Speaker 1: your friends at the high school party like the rivalry
- 22:53Speaker 1: team's house or whatever.
- 22:55Speaker 2: You're like, I was just wasted, Sierra, Sierra, so drunk.
- 23:00Speaker 2: You know, it's like not cute.
- 23:02Speaker 7: Yes, okay, so happy now because you get to a year,
- 23:07Speaker 7: You get to a year of sobriety are you? And
- 23:10Speaker 7: there might have been a moment before a year, who
- 23:12Speaker 7: knows six months where you're like, holy shit, I can't
- 23:14Speaker 7: believe I made it.
- 23:15Speaker 4: Do you get to a year.
- 23:16Speaker 7: And you're like easy, breezy, like it's not even a
- 23:18Speaker 7: big deal. How are you feeling when you get to
- 23:20Speaker 7: a year, your year anniversary?
- 23:22Speaker 1: You know, it was weird because I remember just randomly
- 23:25Speaker 1: getting on Instagram on my five month sobriety and treating
- 23:28Speaker 1: it like it was no big deal.
- 23:30Speaker 2: Like, by the way, I'm.
- 23:31Speaker 1: A friend of Bill W's now and then like the
- 23:34Speaker 1: internet blew up was like La La Kent has a
- 23:37Speaker 1: drinking problem and has been sober for five months, which
- 23:40Speaker 1: is such a random number, right, And I was like, oh,
- 23:43Speaker 1: this is like a kind of a big deal, right
- 23:45Speaker 1: to be like someone who admits to having a drinking
- 23:48Speaker 1: problem and now you're sober.
- 23:51Speaker 2: So when I hit a year, it was fucking wild.
- 23:55Speaker 1: When they gave me my one year chip, I was like,
- 23:58Speaker 1: this is the greatest prize of my life.
- 24:02Speaker 5: Every year. She's yes, wait for that second third. It's
- 24:06Speaker 5: like the Lord of the Rings.
- 24:07Speaker 1: You wanted Easton and my mom got me the diamond
- 24:10Speaker 1: five for my five year. I still haven't gotten my
- 24:13Speaker 1: five year chip.
- 24:14Speaker 5: You have to go get that. I finally Jewelers for
- 24:18Speaker 5: the five.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Yeah, it's the only thing I have that represents my
- 24:21Speaker 1: five years.
- 24:24Speaker 5: We love I see it a lot.
- 24:27Speaker 4: You have to go get it in person. They won't
- 24:29Speaker 4: mail it to you or anything.
- 24:30Speaker 2: No, it's just it's special to get it in person.
- 24:32Speaker 2: But now I'm you know, we're just.
- 24:37Speaker 5: This year.
- 24:39Speaker 1: But that's when my sponsor told me that she not
- 24:43Speaker 1: my sponsor, my sober coach. I'm sorry because I was
- 24:45Speaker 1: still seeing her along with my sponsor in AA meetings,
- 24:48Speaker 1: but she told.
- 24:49Speaker 2: Me you're my little unicorn.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Why because she said it's a rare thing to have
- 24:56Speaker 1: someone come in and want it so badly and not
- 25:01Speaker 1: ever in the course of a year talk about wanting
- 25:06Speaker 1: to drink less.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Work through that because I didn't. You didn't.
- 25:10Speaker 4: No, you were not tempted you.
- 25:12Speaker 5: Nope, it of your rock bottom.
- 25:14Speaker 3: You thought of that often, because I really I think
- 25:17Speaker 3: you thinking or anybody thinking of where they were at
- 25:20Speaker 3: rock bottom is a very good thing to think about.
- 25:22Speaker 5: I know you hated talking.
- 25:24Speaker 3: About it and thinking about it, but what did that
- 25:27Speaker 3: do just for you to not drink for the next
- 25:28Speaker 3: three months?
- 25:29Speaker 4: Yeah? Is that what it was?
- 25:30Speaker 3: I sitting your rock bottom puts you in a place
- 25:34Speaker 3: again of I don't even care to talk about it
- 25:36Speaker 3: because I just revisited.
- 25:37Speaker 4: Or was it people counting on you?
- 25:39Speaker 7: I remember seeing a clip Was it because you actually
- 25:41Speaker 7: made a public statement? I remember seeing a clip on
- 25:43Speaker 7: like watch What Happens Live or something, and You're like,
- 25:45Speaker 7: I'm never drinking again. Was it that that you're like, well,
- 25:48Speaker 7: I can't, like, what was it you think that?
- 25:50Speaker 1: I just think for the first time, I was like
- 25:52Speaker 1: so happy and clear, and I liked the way that
- 25:56Speaker 1: I looked. I liked the way that I felt. It
- 26:00Speaker 1: just was a good I never had to worry about,
- 26:05Speaker 1: like getting in my car, like I'm always gonna get
- 26:07Speaker 1: in my car sober, and if something bad happens, God forbid.
- 26:12Speaker 2: At least I wasn't.
- 26:13Speaker 5: Fucked up, you know, But I do feelings.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Like that made me just want to keep staying sober,
- 26:20Speaker 1: and that feeling has not ended since the day I
- 26:23Speaker 1: got sober.
- 26:24Speaker 5: Yeah, And for me, I.
- 26:26Speaker 3: Do, I have a feeling And maybe it's subconscious on
- 26:29Speaker 3: you of I think the jet and having all of
- 26:32Speaker 3: them writing on you and all of that. You revisiting
- 26:35Speaker 3: that moment is what will keep you sober throughout. I
- 26:38Speaker 3: think so too, Even though you don't want to revisit it,
- 26:41Speaker 3: revisiting it is the thing that will give you longevity
- 26:44Speaker 3: and what you're doing, I think so too. And to everybody, like,
- 26:49Speaker 3: that's the other thing that I'm trying to say, like
- 26:51Speaker 3: for you, for everybody, if you have to revisit that
- 26:53Speaker 3: thing and get disgusted, however, you have to do it
- 26:56Speaker 3: with friends, family, however you do it, revisiting it for
- 27:00Speaker 3: me because you've brought up those points so many times.
- 27:03Speaker 3: I feel like that is what has kept you sober
- 27:06Speaker 3: as well and not even wanting a drink, right, And
- 27:09Speaker 3: that's just coming from me.
- 27:11Speaker 7: Yeah, and what like a simple statement, but like that's
- 27:15Speaker 7: probably so freeing that you said, like I could get
- 27:17Speaker 7: in my car anytime I want. That's like, oh yeah,
- 27:20Speaker 7: people like you could get in your car anytime you
- 27:22Speaker 7: want and know you're not going to be fucked up.
- 27:24Speaker 7: That is so simple but so powerful. That's like you're
- 27:26Speaker 7: not trapped anywhere. You literally can leave any time you need,
- 27:31Speaker 7: which probably.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Yeah, well, and I don't ever want because I was
- 27:36Speaker 1: on a pretty high dose of anti anxiety and antidepressants.
- 27:42Speaker 1: And I don't say to people like, once you get sober,
- 27:46Speaker 1: you don't need meds anymore.
- 27:47Speaker 2: That's not what I'm saying.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Like, I'm not a doctor, listen to your doctor for
- 27:51Speaker 1: me personally, After I got sober, I no longer needed
- 27:56Speaker 1: medication for my anxiety or depression and have not been
- 27:59Speaker 1: on medication and since I got sober.
- 28:01Speaker 5: Wow, But that's where I can battle you.
- 28:04Speaker 4: Oh yeah, about But that's why I say.
- 28:07Speaker 1: That's why I say, don't listen to me, because this
- 28:09Speaker 1: is just my own person.
- 28:11Speaker 5: Just as much as the next person. I promise.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Okay, that's meaning let me back. You're not a sober person.
- 28:18Speaker 3: I smoke weed. You're right, so you're right. Maybe the
- 28:21Speaker 3: weed would kick it.
- 28:22Speaker 5: I don't know, and I don't know where you could
- 28:24Speaker 5: battle me.
- 28:26Speaker 1: I'm fully sober.
- 28:30Speaker 3: But also the only other thing is you've been in
- 28:33Speaker 3: this world for like a decade of.
- 28:37Speaker 5: Just getting.
- 28:40Speaker 1: They all say that the comments section won't affect that until.
- 28:44Speaker 3: Until you're in that thing, and you're like, you know what,
- 28:47Speaker 3: I'm a little just stay home for a couple of years.
- 28:51Speaker 5: But no, you're right. You're right.
- 28:53Speaker 2: I'm not sober, so I can't not change anything.
- 28:55Speaker 5: It may not, but i'm not.
- 28:57Speaker 7: But we all have different it's all relative. We all
- 28:59Speaker 7: have different brains, chemicality, your doctor.
- 29:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't listen to me. I'm just coming from
- 29:05Speaker 1: personal experiences, right.
- 29:09Speaker 4: Thank you for sharing that with us, law.
- 29:10Speaker 7: Is there anything else you want to say about your
- 29:12Speaker 7: sobriety story for now in your journey?
- 29:15Speaker 4: I know we have other stories to share, but I.
- 29:18Speaker 1: Think the biggest thing is that my sobriety has made
- 29:22Speaker 1: it so that I can be the person that the
- 29:27Speaker 1: daughter my mom deserves, the sister that Easton deserves.
- 29:30Speaker 2: And there are.
- 29:31Speaker 1: Moments where I'm a hot head and I don't want
- 29:33Speaker 1: to listen, and I always think that my feelings are facts.
- 29:36Speaker 1: The difference is is once I retreat after battle, I
- 29:42Speaker 1: can understand where the other person is coming.
- 29:45Speaker 5: From, back to where we go for the jugular.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Right, That's just in my nature.
- 29:50Speaker 5: Yes, is what we all do. I do it now too.
- 29:53Speaker 1: We all do it, yes many and my family not
- 29:55Speaker 1: the world this Yeah, and it's allowed me to be
- 30:01Speaker 1: the parent that Ocean deserves. Yeah, because I would not
- 30:04Speaker 1: be this kind of mom if I was not sober.
- 30:07Speaker 7: That's really sweet and great. Yeah, thank you for sharing that,
- 30:10Speaker 7: And I'm really glad. I don't even know if we've
- 30:12Speaker 7: done a full on like just you know.
- 30:14Speaker 3: Guests talking about I love you, I love your way more.
- 30:21Speaker 4: Do you want to get into some shared stories?
- 30:24Speaker 2: I know?
- 30:25Speaker 7: Okay, So we did a few longer ones the last
- 30:28Speaker 7: time or whenever the Sober Bonus episode aired. So I'll
- 30:31Speaker 7: do like a few of the short ones that people
- 30:34Speaker 7: wrote in so this person, I'll start with us. My
- 30:39Speaker 7: husband just entered a thirty day program for alcoholism.
- 30:43Speaker 4: Any words of advice.
- 30:45Speaker 1: Ooh, I would suggest going to number one.
- 30:51Speaker 2: That's incredible, congratulations.
- 30:53Speaker 1: I think alan On is extremely beneficial to people who
- 30:57Speaker 1: have been on the receiving end of an addict because
- 31:02Speaker 1: as much as it is a disease and the person
- 31:05Speaker 1: is not who they are truly when they're under the influence,
- 31:10Speaker 1: you know, we have deeply affected people, and I think
- 31:15Speaker 1: that that could be beneficial. And also I would say
- 31:18Speaker 1: sticking to one day at a time is like the
- 31:20Speaker 1: most important thing, Like do not look at the bigger picture.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Sometimes you have to take it one second at a time.
- 31:28Speaker 1: And when you can just get through that one second,
- 31:30Speaker 1: one minute at a time, it's like a freaking win.
- 31:33Speaker 1: So that would be my biggest piece of advice.
- 31:35Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 31:36Speaker 7: I think one day at a time, one second at
- 31:38Speaker 7: a time, for me, helps with so much too, not
- 31:41Speaker 7: even sobriety, like just for like, if I'm feeling for me,
- 31:44Speaker 7: if I'm feeling wildly overwhelmed and I have a list
- 31:47Speaker 7: of fifty things to do, I go one item at
- 31:50Speaker 7: a time, right list them out what's most important, and literally,
- 31:53Speaker 7: just if I look at the entire list, I like
- 31:56Speaker 7: almost feel frozen.
- 31:57Speaker 4: Right, but one item at a time. I don't know,
- 32:00Speaker 4: but that is I.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Also think if I had a partner who was entering
- 32:03Speaker 1: a thirty day program, once they got out, you have
- 32:07Speaker 1: to create a very safe space for them and see
- 32:10Speaker 1: what they need. If they say I don't feel comfortable,
- 32:16Speaker 1: I wouldn't keep alcohol in the house. People bring alcohol
- 32:19Speaker 1: to my house and leave it and it's there for
- 32:22Speaker 1: them when they return.
- 32:23Speaker 2: But again, everybody's different.
- 32:25Speaker 1: So just like making your person feel safe enough to say, like, hey,
- 32:29Speaker 1: this is how I'm going to best practice my sobriety
- 32:35Speaker 1: and continue on this road.
- 32:38Speaker 2: Please no alcohol in the house. Please.
- 32:41Speaker 1: I can't go here and listen to listen to them,
- 32:43Speaker 1: and you know, I'm sure it could get difficult. Your
- 32:45Speaker 1: life is going to change tremendously because normies think about it.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Everywhere you go there's really a bar or someone's offering
- 32:54Speaker 1: you a beverage.
- 32:56Speaker 2: So life is going to change.
- 32:58Speaker 1: But you have to like incubate that person because this
- 33:02Speaker 1: is like life or death for an addict.
- 33:05Speaker 7: Yeah, this person said, I literally hit rock bottom and
- 33:11Speaker 7: almost ruined my marriage. I've been sober for one year
- 33:14Speaker 7: and could not be happier. You've been such an inspiration, Lalla.
- 33:18Speaker 2: I love that human in one year is so special?
- 33:21Speaker 4: Huge.
- 33:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 33:23Speaker 5: Can I tell you for everybody though, well, thank you.
- 33:25Speaker 3: That's what I want you to know that, thank you
- 33:27Speaker 3: for sharing for all of them, because what you share
- 33:29Speaker 3: has helped a lot of people.
- 33:31Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 33:32Speaker 5: Thank you for being strong and doing.
- 33:34Speaker 2: It one year.
- 33:35Speaker 1: Thank you for that was really sweet tea with the
- 33:38Speaker 1: one year. So, after my relationship ended and I basically
- 33:45Speaker 1: ran away from the house, I took as much as
- 33:48Speaker 1: I could, but I didn't empty out my chores, and
- 33:51Speaker 1: so I had called someone who was still in the
- 33:54Speaker 1: house and I said, please go back in there. You
- 34:00Speaker 1: you have to empty my bedside table. My one year
- 34:03Speaker 1: sobriety chip is in there. She called us back, remember,
- 34:06Speaker 1: and she was like, I don't know how to tell
- 34:07Speaker 1: you this, but all of your things are gone and
- 34:09Speaker 1: there's like another chick stuff in there. And I was
- 34:13Speaker 1: totally fine with everything except for where is my one
- 34:18Speaker 1: year chip? Like that I must get and do you
- 34:21Speaker 1: remember she delivered it to us. Yeah, she found it
- 34:24Speaker 1: in some garbage bag that all my shit was in
- 34:28Speaker 1: and I was like, I don't care about anything else
- 34:30Speaker 1: in the bag, just the chip.
- 34:33Speaker 7: This person said, well, you brought this up. I got pregnant,
- 34:36Speaker 7: so maybe it just works for some people. They get
- 34:38Speaker 7: pregnant and then they never drink again.
- 34:40Speaker 5: I have another question on top of this and being
- 34:44Speaker 5: sober and that, I want to know on the vape
- 34:47Speaker 5: with this, do you think you'll ever go back to
- 34:50Speaker 5: smoking the vape after not being pregnant one day?
- 34:58Speaker 4: Guys, I think about it every.
- 34:59Speaker 5: Day, didn't I know? I in front of her and
- 35:02Speaker 5: I need to stop.
- 35:03Speaker 1: I don't think about it ever until it's in front
- 35:07Speaker 1: of me going into someone's mouth Easton.
- 35:11Speaker 7: But yours is weed vape, so it's different, right, he says,
- 35:15Speaker 7: double puffet.
- 35:16Speaker 2: No.
- 35:16Speaker 4: No, I don't see them as much anymore because.
- 35:21Speaker 2: Probably because you were hanging out with me every day.
- 35:25Speaker 5: You had him in your purse. I remember, Laura, let
- 35:28Speaker 5: you go. Do you have my vape? And I'd have
- 35:29Speaker 5: to text you do you have one? Yeah? I have
- 35:31Speaker 5: two extra in my bag.
- 35:32Speaker 7: Always a backup, always a backup, always a backup.
- 35:36Speaker 4: If I was didn't have a backup, oh my god.
- 35:38Speaker 5: No.
- 35:39Speaker 1: But that's what's wild is people asking me, how have
- 35:41Speaker 1: you been doing with the vape since being pregnant.
- 35:43Speaker 5: I'm like, good, I think I am very good.
- 35:47Speaker 1: The moment I went through with the I U I
- 35:49Speaker 1: the vape was in the trash.
- 35:51Speaker 4: Yeah, but I guess that's the point some people.
- 35:54Speaker 3: If I were you and I was pregnant once that
- 35:57Speaker 3: kid shot out mbilical cord.
- 36:00Speaker 2: But I can't talk about it.
- 36:02Speaker 4: That's going to be my present for her. It's a
- 36:06Speaker 4: basket of vape.
- 36:07Speaker 1: You can never get me to drink again, but vaping
- 36:10Speaker 1: I need to go to. Like, I think there is
- 36:12Speaker 1: a bow text to me. This was a while ago,
- 36:15Speaker 1: probably a year ago. Vape, vape, vapes and no, there
- 36:20Speaker 1: is a lot like doing smoking cigarettes vape.
- 36:27Speaker 4: There's a lot of vape groups that are like vape
- 36:29Speaker 4: help groups. Christian dads who vape, Oh, I've.
- 36:32Speaker 5: Been in the car before.
- 36:33Speaker 2: Really is that a thing?
- 36:35Speaker 7: Christian dads who vape, dads who are addicted to the vape,
- 36:38Speaker 7: who are Christian, who want to get off it.
- 36:41Speaker 2: Everyone, It truly is the heart.
- 36:42Speaker 3: I see somebody hitting it in their car and I'm like, oh,
- 36:46Speaker 3: I have one, and then I hit mine.
- 36:48Speaker 1: When you okay, I have to tell you something about
- 36:51Speaker 1: this guy at my AA meeting.
- 36:53Speaker 5: This was a while I have to get back to
- 36:54Speaker 5: her question. Now. I do feel bad that I which one.
- 36:57Speaker 1: We will We will get back to it. But I
- 37:01Speaker 1: was smoking my vabe and he was like, you know,
- 37:02Speaker 1: those are really bad for you. And I was like,
- 37:04Speaker 1: I know, but I figure like if I could stop
- 37:07Speaker 1: drinking alcohol and quit that, I can certainly quit this.
- 37:11Speaker 1: And he goes, you ever quit heroin? Before I go no, no,
- 37:15Speaker 1: and he goes, wow. They're saying it's the equivalent to
- 37:17Speaker 1: quitting that it's good luck. And I was like, oh,
- 37:20Speaker 1: really stressed, stressed exactly.
- 37:25Speaker 2: I need to stress it people.
- 37:27Speaker 7: I'm telling you there are the sober groups for the
- 37:29Speaker 7: vapes because they are so bad.
- 37:31Speaker 3: I'll have to dismiss myself for like six days, no vape. No,
- 37:34Speaker 3: we know nothing, and I'm just going to be running
- 37:37Speaker 3: and nobody can be near me because they'll assault anybody
- 37:41Speaker 3: near me, lovely assault that I'm.
- 37:43Speaker 5: Going to be just in a house, locked doors, just
- 37:45Speaker 5: walking around.
- 37:46Speaker 2: Are going to put him in a pat room.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Wait, tell me what the she got pressured? She got
- 37:52Speaker 1: sober after she got pregnant.
- 37:54Speaker 7: Yes, well, she just said I got pregnant, So I'm
- 37:56Speaker 7: assuming that because it was share your sobriety journey simple
- 38:00Speaker 7: as that can.
- 38:01Speaker 1: I tell you a lot of people say, after I
- 38:03Speaker 1: got pregnant, I loved the feeling of not drinking and
- 38:06Speaker 1: waking up and feeling okay.
- 38:08Speaker 2: And there's so many.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Like alcohol free replacements yes that they're like, I just
- 38:15Speaker 1: never drank again.
- 38:17Speaker 4: Right, So I will share this because she'd be fine
- 38:19Speaker 4: with it.
- 38:19Speaker 7: But my sister, she drank, and she had gotten on
- 38:23Speaker 7: a certain anxiety medication. She got pregnant, she gave up
- 38:27Speaker 7: the alcohol, and I believe she either lowered the dose or.
- 38:30Speaker 4: Got on a different medication for anxiety.
- 38:31Speaker 7: Whatever, she got pregnant, and in a healthy way, she
- 38:34Speaker 7: started like dropping weight like crazy. Her face slammed, and
- 38:38Speaker 7: I was like, and she was very much and she
- 38:41Speaker 7: still is pregnant. But she I was like, do you
- 38:42Speaker 7: think it was the alcohol the medicine. She's like, I
- 38:44Speaker 7: don't know, but like I've never felt better.
- 38:47Speaker 1: This is not me shaming anyone's body, Okay, so please
- 38:50Speaker 1: don't take it that way. The way that alcohol weight
- 38:56Speaker 1: attaches itself to you is very fair your face and
- 39:01Speaker 1: right in your mid section, like you could have the
- 39:03Speaker 1: skinniest little legs and these cute little arms or whatever
- 39:07Speaker 1: and toned because you do the shake weight like I do.
- 39:10Speaker 1: If you drink excessively, it is such a specific type
- 39:15Speaker 1: of weight that you're carrying, sugarweight, isn't it. Yeah, it's
- 39:20Speaker 1: all sugar.
- 39:21Speaker 2: Sugars as we know, sugar like grips itself to you.
- 39:25Speaker 2: It is very hard to lose sugar weight.
- 39:27Speaker 1: Again, not body shaming, But if you drink a lot
- 39:30Speaker 1: and you've been trying to lose a few pounds and
- 39:33Speaker 1: you're wondering why it's not happening, look into the.
- 39:37Speaker 2: Alcohol of it.
- 39:38Speaker 5: Well, that's not body shaming. That's like I mean, well, I'm.
- 39:41Speaker 1: Talking about people's bodies and if i'm I'm just.
- 39:48Speaker 5: But you can just tell a drinker's body. That's not
- 39:52Speaker 5: a shaming, that's just it's facts mine.
- 39:55Speaker 7: Like I literally get like jowls of sorts, Like my
- 39:59Speaker 7: face starts to get heavy and I get like and
- 40:02Speaker 7: the eyes.
- 40:03Speaker 5: It's after I eat like a lot of like soy
- 40:05Speaker 5: sauce salt.
- 40:06Speaker 4: Yeah, it looks the same. It's gross.
- 40:08Speaker 5: And I love soy sauce.
- 40:10Speaker 1: I love soy sauce too. The best part of being
- 40:14Speaker 1: pregnant is like have a ton of soy sauce on
- 40:18Speaker 1: this rice, because if I look puffy, no one's gonna
- 40:20Speaker 1: be like, she looks like shit, because they're gonna be like, oh,
- 40:22Speaker 1: she's pregnant.
- 40:24Speaker 5: You look great, baby, sweetheart.
- 40:28Speaker 4: Do you know you might not know this? I don't.
- 40:30Speaker 7: But someone saying, can you touch on the caral from
- 40:33Speaker 7: Summer House sobriety journey?
- 40:34Speaker 4: Do you know his journey?
- 40:36Speaker 2: I don't know his exact journey. I will say that
- 40:38Speaker 2: I do.
- 40:39Speaker 1: He's very open about his addiction being alcohol and cocaine. Okay,
- 40:43Speaker 1: And I've spoken about this before that I was never
- 40:47Speaker 1: a drug user. I smoked weed and I liked my weed,
- 40:51Speaker 1: and I always had a pen at my house. I
- 40:52Speaker 1: always had joints and blunts, but it wasn't like I
- 40:55Speaker 1: was obsessive about it. I just enjoyed it. And then
- 40:58Speaker 1: I did mushrooms one time. But as far as like
- 41:01Speaker 1: the drugs, I would be wasted and people would be like, why.
- 41:04Speaker 2: Don't you do it?
- 41:04Speaker 1: I'm like, I just have a super addictive personality, not.
- 41:09Speaker 4: Sound all can have another shot?
- 41:13Speaker 5: Yeah wild right?
- 41:15Speaker 4: Oh wow.
- 41:17Speaker 1: I don't know his journey to sobriety. All I know
- 41:20Speaker 1: is watching Summer House, and again that's such a small
- 41:25Speaker 1: piece of like his life and what happens in his
- 41:29Speaker 1: world and friendships and relationships. But I really enjoyed watching
- 41:35Speaker 1: his perspective on situations coming from a sober place.
- 41:40Speaker 7: Yeah yeah, this person says sixteen days sober, huge and
- 41:46Speaker 7: so happy to say, I'm finally the mom I hoped
- 41:49Speaker 7: to be.
- 41:50Speaker 2: I hope that you forever. Just keep that in mind.
- 41:55Speaker 5: Tomorrow's seventeen. The next day is eighteen, day by day.
- 41:58Speaker 1: Day by day, and remember, if there's a problem, you
- 42:02Speaker 1: will never conquer the beast. The moment you think you've
- 42:07Speaker 1: conquered it and you dabble in it again, you just have.
- 42:10Speaker 2: It's it's woke again.
- 42:13Speaker 5: You created two beasts.
- 42:18Speaker 7: It's celebrating four hundred and nineteen days of sobriety today.
- 42:22Speaker 7: Couldn't be more thankful for you as a role model.
- 42:25Speaker 2: That's incredible. You have a year over a year journeys.
- 42:30Speaker 7: I didn't know sobriety was possible for me until you
- 42:33Speaker 7: appeared on my screen.
- 42:34Speaker 4: Number three hundred and twenty four. You're almost there. Forty
- 42:37Speaker 4: days until you've hit a year forty one God, I
- 42:39Speaker 4: have chills.
- 42:40Speaker 2: H that's really you have to do something to celebrate
- 42:44Speaker 2: a year.
- 42:44Speaker 4: Yeah, what's your like? I know it's dependent on the person.
- 42:47Speaker 7: Would you say, like an overnight trip or like a
- 42:50Speaker 7: little party. I guess it also depends on what triggers you.
- 42:53Speaker 7: What would you say?
- 42:54Speaker 1: I love to have like people over or I love
- 42:57Speaker 1: to do like a cute little dinner with all of
- 42:59Speaker 1: the people who have I I will celebrate my sobriety
- 43:04Speaker 1: birthday way before I celebrate my like I'm like, everybody
- 43:08Speaker 1: has a fucking birthday.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Birthday? No right, Yes, that one's hard to get.
- 43:15Speaker 4: Yeah, celebrating rare, Oh my god, it's.
- 43:21Speaker 5: Not just given to you if you have to work
- 43:24Speaker 5: for it.
- 43:26Speaker 1: Yeah, so I think a cute dinner is always so fun.
- 43:29Speaker 1: Or if if you're still in the place of like
- 43:32Speaker 1: things trigger you, But you could always pick a super
- 43:34Speaker 1: cute restaurant that likes not alcohol, or.
- 43:38Speaker 4: A trip, or buy something or that.
- 43:41Speaker 2: I'm a huge fan of the buying of something. I
- 43:44Speaker 2: love a good I have someone else buy it for you.
- 43:46Speaker 2: Treat yourself if.
- 43:49Speaker 5: It deserved. Yeah, yeah, people feel bad, don't buy you
- 43:54Speaker 5: they will. Yeah.
- 43:56Speaker 4: This person said I drank to fit in. I never
- 43:58Speaker 4: liked the taste. Quit drinking. Twenty five plus years ago
- 44:00Speaker 4: and so happy. It's cool.
- 44:03Speaker 2: It is cool now, well that's a new thing.
- 44:06Speaker 5: Like in all the bars, like people are you can.
- 44:09Speaker 3: We went to just a bar on last Sunday, just
- 44:12Speaker 3: me and four buddies and we were just chilling live music.
- 44:15Speaker 5: They went to the bar.
- 44:17Speaker 3: No one at it because everybody's like sobering.
- 44:22Speaker 7: Yeah, and they have the fully sober bars, the mocktails
- 44:25Speaker 7: like those are fun.
- 44:26Speaker 3: But yeah, no, like the bar you used to see
- 44:28Speaker 3: the ball, I mean I used to remember bars just packed.
- 44:31Speaker 3: And now you go up hundreds of people you can
- 44:33Speaker 3: get a drink right away. It looks like, yeah you
- 44:36Speaker 3: can because everybody's just on that sober train.
- 44:38Speaker 2: Yeah, but that's amazing. Twenty five years so great.
- 44:41Speaker 4: This person said, not me, but my brother.
- 44:43Speaker 7: I prayed to have him back one day and finally
- 44:46Speaker 7: two years sober.
- 44:49Speaker 3: Yay.
- 44:51Speaker 5: I always relations.
- 44:52Speaker 1: I always feel so sad for families that are dealing
- 44:57Speaker 1: with a loved one who's like really strong with addiction,
- 45:01Speaker 1: because even if you hold an intervention, you know, unless
- 45:05Speaker 1: the person wants to be sober, Yeah, it's like extremely difficult.
- 45:09Speaker 5: You can lead a horse to water, but you can't.
- 45:13Speaker 7: No, and it's so painful too, Like it's you know,
- 45:17Speaker 7: this is a distant family, but like you do everything,
- 45:21Speaker 7: you offer to pay fully for the nicest some families.
- 45:24Speaker 7: If you can the nicest facilities, the whole family gets
- 45:27Speaker 7: behind you.
- 45:27Speaker 4: There's there's the tough love.
- 45:29Speaker 7: Uh try, there's the fucking intervention, try, like it's everything,
- 45:35Speaker 7: and then they might go into the facility, but then
- 45:37Speaker 7: they check themselves out, like it's such a painful fucking cycle.
- 45:41Speaker 7: They truly have to be ready, and then you get
- 45:44Speaker 7: to a point where you're like you just have to
- 45:46Speaker 7: kind of accept this is personal experience, but like watching
- 45:49Speaker 7: them die until they're hopefully ready to change.
- 45:53Speaker 1: It's so that's that's an uh uh what's it called
- 45:59Speaker 1: a success story with amazing two years sober?
- 46:04Speaker 4: It's beautiful? Oh my god. The same person writes in
- 46:08Speaker 4: every time we want to see Lala's tits? This person
- 46:13Speaker 4: this person.
- 46:14Speaker 8: Okay comments on all?
- 46:18Speaker 4: Does he comment on YouTube to comments on all?
- 46:20Speaker 7: Please ask Lala if she'll wear a mesh shirt with
- 46:22Speaker 7: her tits out.
- 46:23Speaker 2: I want to see La.
- 46:25Speaker 7: Why hasn't Lala shown her tits?
- 46:28Speaker 4: Fucking A They're on TV somewhere there.
- 46:31Speaker 1: I love, I love how big is the check that
- 46:33Speaker 1: you're writing the moment I received the wire.
- 46:36Speaker 2: The moment I.
- 46:37Speaker 1: Receive the wire, family, right, I will be in a
- 46:40Speaker 1: mesh top.
- 46:40Speaker 4: See there we have it.
- 46:43Speaker 5: Okay, Christ, So it's just money.
- 46:46Speaker 8: Someone show this man of God or Lala every comment.
- 46:55Speaker 8: I mean at least fifty five comments, Laala, please your
- 46:59Speaker 8: squeaky wheels, honestly show us your tits for la La,
- 47:04Speaker 8: I mean, my.
- 47:05Speaker 2: God, for real.
- 47:07Speaker 1: Your your check can pay both my mortgages and all
- 47:11Speaker 1: my bills for the next year.
- 47:13Speaker 2: I will show you my tits.
- 47:15Speaker 4: She will show you her. She will sell you a
- 47:16Speaker 4: photo of her tits or video.
- 47:20Speaker 5: I love.
- 47:23Speaker 1: About sobriety and and I'm like, how BIG's shack before.
- 47:28Speaker 5: I talking about what I know?
- 47:31Speaker 2: I know?
- 47:31Speaker 4: I'm like, I love a joint. It's your episode, you
- 47:35Speaker 4: enormy what are we doing?
- 47:37Speaker 2: You freaking?
- 47:39Speaker 7: This is really great because I've I'll just share it.
- 47:42Speaker 7: I'm a bar owner who has been sober for a
- 47:45Speaker 7: little over three years now. Bar owners and bartenders. I
- 47:49Speaker 7: was a bartender.
- 47:50Speaker 4: I know a lot of.
- 47:51Speaker 7: People who struggled with balancing working and drinking. Because you
- 47:57Speaker 7: see your regulars, they go, let me buy you a shot.
- 48:00Speaker 7: You I for like the first few months of bartending,
- 48:04Speaker 7: I would take the shots to like you get more tips.
- 48:07Speaker 4: They'd be like, oh, but.
- 48:08Speaker 7: Then I started making fake drinks of course, but a
- 48:11Speaker 7: lot of people become alcoholics that way.
- 48:13Speaker 3: Well, yeah, I found out all the people who have
- 48:16Speaker 3: bars or anything like that, the sober ones are the
- 48:20Speaker 3: ones that still have them.
- 48:21Speaker 5: Yeah, because they they're like, no, I'm not drunk. You're
- 48:25Speaker 5: not getting a drink for free.
- 48:26Speaker 1: Game like a bar rescue. How much of the time
- 48:28Speaker 1: they're bankrupt because he's.
- 48:30Speaker 2: Like, you're drinking your own alcohol.
- 48:32Speaker 1: Yes, you're taking shots every time that young.
- 48:36Speaker 9: Yeah, you're handing five out to the patrons and taking
- 48:39Speaker 9: one with That's two bottles in an hour that you
- 48:42Speaker 9: gave out, and it's like, wow, once that guy stops drinking,
- 48:45Speaker 9: those two bottles are now paid for a boy the
- 48:47Speaker 9: patrons because you're like, I'm not paying.
- 48:49Speaker 4: For this show, I know, or they have employees like
- 48:52Speaker 4: me who give them out, and they don't. They give
- 48:54Speaker 4: it out for free to their friends.
- 48:56Speaker 2: Not for law, not good no, for real.
- 48:58Speaker 4: They should have kept track. They did it.
- 49:00Speaker 7: They allowed me, you know, they didn't keep an eye
- 49:03Speaker 7: on me because I had my regulars coming up and
- 49:05Speaker 7: they're like, oh, look at all the people, but the
- 49:06Speaker 7: amount of alcohol I was giving away should be.
- 49:09Speaker 5: Good for him to have a bar still have it her.
- 49:12Speaker 3: I think her apologies good for her to still have
- 49:15Speaker 3: a bar okay for.
- 49:17Speaker 5: X amount of years and not having workers like Jess.
- 49:20Speaker 1: Yes, congratulation because she's she's got the clarity to say
- 49:26Speaker 1: that's what looks like she's gonna drink my supply. This
- 49:29Speaker 1: one doesn't. She seems like a stand up gal.
- 49:33Speaker 7: Stand up gal. Good for you. Congrats. And also that's
- 49:36Speaker 7: probably the thing with drug dealers. I'm sure drug dealers,
- 49:40Speaker 7: but for.
- 49:40Speaker 3: Real drug dealing successful drug off your own supply.
- 49:44Speaker 2: They say that all the time.
- 49:46Speaker 4: Don't get high. I'm sure they're like.
