- 0:17Speaker 1: Now the eye opener. We know the type of team
- 0:20Speaker 1: we're capable of being. You know, I was telling him,
- 0:22Speaker 1: boys laid in the forth like thank god it happened,
- 0:24Speaker 1: like we ready to go. We should have been ready
- 0:26Speaker 1: to go from the bye. But you know, NFL will
- 0:29Speaker 1: humble you. NFL humble you went all over run early.
- 0:31Speaker 1: It's about how you finished the season. Let's finish the
- 0:34Speaker 1: right way to.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Welcome to Jags A and the NFL will humble you.
- 0:38Speaker 2: This team got humbled against the forty nine ers on Sunday.
- 0:41Speaker 2: Brian Sexton, John Osier with me here today and we're
- 0:43Speaker 2: gonna recap a little bit of what went down. We
- 0:45Speaker 2: talked about that on Monday, but then we'll start to
- 0:47Speaker 2: kind of turn the page a little bit and focus.
- 0:49Speaker 3: On the Titans. Brian.
- 0:51Speaker 2: We we're gonna talk about some big things a little bit,
- 0:53Speaker 2: but it's one of those where you need to still
- 0:54Speaker 2: talk about it and acknowledge it cause it was that bad.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Well, and we're gonna hear from Rayewon Jenkins understanding and
- 0:59Speaker 4: I thought he had it down right, and he's one
- 1:01Speaker 4: of the leaders in this locker room. Is that you
- 1:03Speaker 4: better let that sharpen you, right, I mean, you better
- 1:06Speaker 4: let that great on you cause you some pain so
- 1:09Speaker 4: that you can grow through it and figure it out.
- 1:11Speaker 4: And I think just some conversations that I've had with
- 1:13Speaker 4: guys the last two days, I think they all would agree.
- 1:16Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm not a big burn the tape guy or
- 1:19Speaker 5: bury it or whatever you do with it when it's
- 1:21Speaker 5: that bad.
- 1:23Speaker 6: I think they will learn from it.
- 1:26Speaker 5: I'm more of the pennoned I guess I've seen a
- 1:28Speaker 5: lot of good teams lose a lot of games.
- 1:31Speaker 6: And lose some in bad fashion.
- 1:33Speaker 5: You know, I saw the Cole Salouse here in the
- 1:35Speaker 5: game of three and seventy five yards rushing winning to the
- 1:37Speaker 5: super Bowl, and people get tired of that analogy.
- 1:43Speaker 6: It's one time, but it shows you that it happens.
- 1:46Speaker 5: And it's important not to forget that this team has
- 1:51Speaker 5: won eleven of its last four fourteen games. You can't
- 1:55Speaker 5: forget that you got you know, boat raced the other day.
- 2:00Speaker 5: But you also can't forget that the things you're doing
- 2:05Speaker 5: are good enough to get to eleven and three, which
- 2:07Speaker 5: back in the fourteen game seasons and number one seed.
- 2:09Speaker 5: So don't lose sight of that either.
- 2:10Speaker 4: Well, can you do what the Cowboys did right and Alliance.
- 2:12Speaker 4: Both of them won their next two games after being blanked.
- 2:16Speaker 4: I mean, just absolutely. The Niners took apart the Cowboys.
- 2:20Speaker 4: The Ravens demolished Alliance, and both of them are on
- 2:23Speaker 4: winning streaks. The Cowboys lost in Philly, but they've won
- 2:26Speaker 4: three or four. Can you rebound like that? I think
- 2:29Speaker 4: the answer is yes, we'll find out on Sunday.
- 2:31Speaker 6: It's not.
- 2:32Speaker 5: It's I would say to use a college football analogy
- 2:35Speaker 5: because I don't think this town is a college football
- 2:38Speaker 5: town like that the way people say it is not
- 2:40Speaker 5: what it once was. But if you lose thirty seven
- 2:43Speaker 5: three in college football, you stink in the NFL. That's
- 2:46Speaker 5: not how it is. You can lose like that. To
- 2:50Speaker 5: pull an analogy from way back, one of the best
- 2:51Speaker 5: teams of all time, the forty nine Ers, lost forty
- 2:53Speaker 5: to eight to Philadelphia in nineteen ninety four and then
- 2:56Speaker 5: basically ran the table the rest of the way and
- 2:58Speaker 5: one of the all time great teams that's thirty years ago, got.
- 3:03Speaker 4: Yeah, you go back more recently with it with the
- 3:04Speaker 4: Patriots got bolted, their doors bowed off in Kansas City
- 3:07Speaker 4: in twenty eighteen, and they won the super Bowl.
- 3:09Speaker 5: Right, I also lost once thirty one nothing in the
- 3:11Speaker 5: open and won the Super Bowl. So it happens. It's
- 3:15Speaker 5: you old cliche, it's what you do.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Now moving forward, let's go over some of our big
- 3:19Speaker 2: things for us today.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Our first big thing is schooled.
- 3:21Speaker 2: They got schooled against the forty nine ers, there's no
- 3:24Speaker 2: doubt about that. But also moving forward using that as motivation,
- 3:28Speaker 2: kind of sitting on it and helping it, you know,
- 3:30Speaker 2: help you get prepared as you move forward. Rashon Jenkins
- 3:33Speaker 2: talked a little bit about it yesterday.
- 3:35Speaker 7: You know how that went down in that fashion yesterday,
- 3:38Speaker 7: I would say kind of just letting that ling her
- 3:40Speaker 7: around just a.
- 3:40Speaker 4: Little bit more.
- 3:42Speaker 7: You got to feel, you know, those type of losses
- 3:44Speaker 7: just a little bit more.
- 3:45Speaker 4: You know where the level of play hath.
- 3:47Speaker 7: Has to be moving forward, and we had I wouldn't
- 3:51Speaker 7: say we're we're getting that one out of our out
- 3:55Speaker 7: of the building too quick, but I mean most certainly
- 3:58Speaker 7: by by Wednesday.
- 4:00Speaker 2: John, you let it linger a little bit, but no,
- 4:02Speaker 2: it's Wednesday, so you turn the page as well. How
- 4:04Speaker 2: much of it is going to be just the start
- 4:06Speaker 2: of this week being like, yes, acknowledge it and move forward.
- 4:08Speaker 5: What's over now? I mean, it's when they walk in
- 4:11Speaker 5: the building today. It needs to be in the past.
- 4:16Speaker 5: You let it motivates you. I think it's inside of
- 4:19Speaker 5: you all week that you don't want to come out
- 4:22Speaker 5: and play like that. You particularly don't want to come
- 4:24Speaker 5: out and play like that in front of your fans.
- 4:26Speaker 5: I think we forget sometimes because we see all the games,
- 4:30Speaker 5: you know, and we're into it all the time. How
- 4:32Speaker 5: important the home games are for fans who are touching
- 4:37Speaker 5: this team and feeling a part of it. You're one
- 4:40Speaker 5: and three at home. I sort of discounted it last week.
- 4:44Speaker 5: You need to play well at home, and you need
- 4:46Speaker 5: to be walking out EverBank Stadium on Sunday with a
- 4:48Speaker 5: better feeling, and what happened needs to be the like
- 4:53Speaker 5: if you're thinking about turning the iPad off at.
- 4:55Speaker 6: Nine thirty or eight thirty, maybe you.
- 4:58Speaker 5: Think back on what happened on Sunday and give another
- 5:00Speaker 5: fifteen you know what I mean, and a little extra motivation.
- 5:04Speaker 4: One of my favorite quotes is from Sir Winston Churchill,
- 5:06Speaker 4: who once was fond of saying facts are stubborn things, right,
- 5:09Speaker 4: so you can turn the page, but you can't ignore
- 5:13Speaker 4: the fact that you didn't stop the run, that you
- 5:16Speaker 4: didn't run the ball very well. And it's important in
- 5:18Speaker 4: this case because your opponent's gonna come in knowing exactly
- 5:21Speaker 4: what the facts are about you. So you've got to
- 5:26Speaker 4: carry those facts with you, not letting them, you know,
- 5:31Speaker 4: beat you up, but at the same time not putting
- 5:33Speaker 4: them down and saying, well, don't worry about those anymore.
- 5:36Speaker 4: The fact is the fact they didn't They don't run
- 5:38Speaker 4: the ball very well. We're gonna talk about that a
- 5:39Speaker 4: little bit later. And they didn't stop the run very
- 5:42Speaker 4: well on Sunday, and they didn't get good pressure, and
- 5:44Speaker 4: they turn the ball over too much. If you take
- 5:46Speaker 4: those things and you focus on them this week in
- 5:50Speaker 4: the light of because the Titans are coming in, focusing
- 5:53Speaker 4: on them, you'll be fine. You'll handle it the right way.
- 5:57Speaker 6: The soccer reference to Sir Winston Churchill.
- 6:02Speaker 4: British.
- 6:03Speaker 3: For sure, we're not in London anymore. We're gonna move
- 6:06Speaker 3: on from that one.
- 6:06Speaker 2: But it did feel like they were kicking the can
- 6:08Speaker 2: down the road with some of the issues and it
- 6:10Speaker 2: did catch up a big time against this forty nine ers.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Our second big thing this week is strong soup to
- 6:16Speaker 2: talk a little bit about the running game. Travis ETN
- 6:17Speaker 2: has been amazing this season, but overall as a team,
- 6:21Speaker 2: they haven't been running the ball very well and that
- 6:23Speaker 2: really hurt them. John in that game against the San
- 6:26Speaker 2: Francisco they can't get anything going well.
- 6:28Speaker 5: I think Brian mentioned it in the quick thought that they
- 6:30Speaker 5: wrote for this week. Travis et is a good running back.
- 6:34Speaker 5: They're not a good running team right now.
- 6:36Speaker 6: It's impressive that they have.
- 6:39Speaker 5: I think it's eight rushing touchdowns, which is a good
- 6:41Speaker 5: number and very indicative of a good team.
- 6:44Speaker 6: They've stuck with it when it's been difficult.
- 6:48Speaker 5: Travis has given them some touchdowns that maybe is a team.
- 6:52Speaker 6: I don't say they didn't earn.
- 6:53Speaker 5: It's not real, but the Travis DTN has given them
- 6:57Speaker 5: some touchdowns that if he wasn't special, so maybe they
- 7:00Speaker 5: don't have. I think they've got to stick with it.
- 7:04Speaker 5: I think they've got to get a little better at it.
- 7:07Speaker 5: I don't expect them to be the Eagles, who are
- 7:09Speaker 5: a run centric team. But he's too good and they're
- 7:16Speaker 5: too good when he's right to let him not be
- 7:20Speaker 5: a part of it.
- 7:21Speaker 6: Does that make sense?
- 7:22Speaker 4: He look, Yeah, it does go back to that play
- 7:24Speaker 4: in which Tank Bixby had the ball go off his hands.
- 7:27Speaker 4: Joey Bosa, you know, forces Trevor out of the pocket,
- 7:30Speaker 4: and I think it was a bad decision to throw
- 7:31Speaker 4: the ball. But it's third in the yard, third in
- 7:34Speaker 4: the yard on their side of the field, and you
- 7:36Speaker 4: can't get a yard, well, you can't. We have the
- 7:38Speaker 4: numbers the Jaguars. Look at these numbers, folks, the Jaguars
- 7:42Speaker 4: on third down and one, two and three abysmal. You
- 7:47Speaker 4: want to be over eighty percent on third down and one,
- 7:50Speaker 4: and you ought to be somewhere much better than twenty
- 7:52Speaker 4: five percent on third and two three out of five,
- 7:55Speaker 4: sixty percent on third and three that number ought to
- 7:58Speaker 4: be higher also, But third in one you're only eleven
- 8:02Speaker 4: to seventeen on the year. That's got to change.
- 8:05Speaker 3: Problems are people know that too?
- 8:07Speaker 2: So you can tell by the way defenses are scheming
- 8:09Speaker 2: up against them be.
- 8:11Speaker 4: Able to confidence level, right, I don't know that there's
- 8:14Speaker 4: a lot of confidence, and not to harp on it,
- 8:17Speaker 4: but we've talked about it John since the opener. That
- 8:19Speaker 4: the interior of the offensive line, which has featured three
- 8:22Speaker 4: different starting left guards, and they've obviously had an issue
- 8:25Speaker 4: with Brandon Sherriff, who has struggled through an ankle injury.
- 8:28Speaker 4: But the interior of that line doesn't give you confidence
- 8:31Speaker 4: that they can gain it, which makes it really much
- 8:34Speaker 4: easier for Mike Vrabel and the Titans to come in
- 8:37Speaker 4: and put Jeffrey Simmons right over the center on Sunday
- 8:40Speaker 4: and say you're not getting it today either.
- 8:42Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 8:43Speaker 5: The easy thing to say is a third and one,
- 8:44Speaker 5: just run it twice, But they've had situations where they've
- 8:46Speaker 5: done that has worked work.
- 8:47Speaker 6: So.
- 8:50Speaker 5: Yeah, it when you follow teams closely, there are a
- 8:53Speaker 5: lot of situations where coaches historically as much today, but
- 8:58Speaker 5: coaches historically say if we can't get a yard on
- 9:00Speaker 5: third and one, we deserve to win. Well, you can't
- 9:04Speaker 5: really just accept that. So I get why the Jaguars
- 9:07Speaker 5: are trying different things, but it does go back to
- 9:11Speaker 5: if you can't pick up third and one on two.
- 9:13Speaker 6: Carries, you can't run the ball. Yeah, and you sort
- 9:17Speaker 6: of say, hey, we you know, maybe we're not good enough.
- 9:20Speaker 6: And I don't think they're ready.
- 9:21Speaker 4: To accept that yet. One more thought on this, and
- 9:23Speaker 4: that is is that Doug Peterson and John has alluded
- 9:25Speaker 4: to this for more than a year. Doug Peterson is
- 9:28Speaker 4: never going to come in here and be that thirty
- 9:30Speaker 4: two carry coach. He's not going to call for the
- 9:33Speaker 4: ball to be the the running game to be the
- 9:36Speaker 4: dominant phase of his offense. It's not what he believes
- 9:39Speaker 4: as a former quarterback and what an offense looks like
- 9:42Speaker 4: in the modern era. But running the football is about
- 9:46Speaker 4: getting the yard or four when you want to get
- 9:50Speaker 4: that yard or four. And in the Jaguars history, they
- 9:52Speaker 4: have generally been that team that could get what they
- 9:55Speaker 4: wanted when they wanted to take those yards. Right now,
- 9:59Speaker 4: they want it and they can't get it. That's what
- 10:02Speaker 4: we have to watch over the last eight games of
- 10:04Speaker 4: the season. Can they evolve into a team that says,
- 10:07Speaker 4: we need to want to run the ball, We're gonna
- 10:09Speaker 4: get it.
- 10:10Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 10:11Speaker 5: I think I want to clarify because Doug believes you
- 10:15Speaker 5: have to run. What he doesn't believe from what in
- 10:20Speaker 5: conversations I've had with him and been around that you
- 10:23Speaker 5: if you're stacked eight in the box, I'm not going
- 10:27Speaker 5: to come out and run just to prove I have
- 10:30Speaker 5: big muscles and I'm gonna I'm gonna establish the run.
- 10:32Speaker 5: He's not that, but if the look is there, then
- 10:37Speaker 5: he believes you need to be able to run against
- 10:39Speaker 5: the look.
- 10:39Speaker 6: And I'm probably not saying it exactly right. I think
- 10:41Speaker 6: that's close. So I think that's where.
- 10:46Speaker 5: The other day people were saying, well, why didn't he
- 10:48Speaker 5: run the ball more early? Well, he's not gonna come
- 10:51Speaker 5: out just to Okay, I'm going to be a big
- 10:53Speaker 5: man and run the ball against this if if the
- 10:56Speaker 5: look doesn't dictate that, it's going to works.
- 11:00Speaker 6: Not going to be dumb about it.
- 11:02Speaker 5: And that's an Andy Reid fossy. Sometimes when people talk
- 11:05Speaker 5: about the why is there passing game so horizontal, Well,
- 11:12Speaker 5: some of that is the horizontal passing game. Some of
- 11:16Speaker 5: that that school believes that that's a big part of
- 11:19Speaker 5: your running game. So that's a little bit of a
- 11:21Speaker 5: philosophical difference. That's different from what it was in the
- 11:24Speaker 5: eighties and late seventies.
- 11:25Speaker 4: Where it was a home growd guy. Homegroom was a
- 11:27Speaker 4: Bill Walsh guy. It's West Coast. It makes sense that
- 11:29Speaker 4: was very successful for a long period time.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Let's go to our final big thing today and that's
- 11:34Speaker 2: the Boy. As we look ahead to Sunday, the Titans
- 11:36Speaker 2: are coming to town, there are always physical at least
- 11:39Speaker 2: in our minds because of what Derrick Henry has been
- 11:41Speaker 2: able to do over the last couple of seasons. But
- 11:44Speaker 2: this team is a little bit different now that you.
- 11:46Speaker 3: Know they've got to work at quarterback.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Derrick Henry is getting towards the end of things, but
- 11:50Speaker 2: he's still so dominant when.
- 11:51Speaker 4: He's on Eddie George before that, I mean, the Titans
- 11:53Speaker 4: just have this cave man mentality about running the ball.
- 11:58Speaker 4: And well, they brought up on Ryan Tannehill a couple
- 12:01Speaker 4: of years ago, and he was not a success in Miami,
- 12:03Speaker 4: but all of a sudden, he's got that big bulldozer
- 12:05Speaker 4: behind him, sucks the safeties up to the line of
- 12:07Speaker 4: scrimmage and he's going over the top. Henry might not
- 12:11Speaker 4: be and I don't believe that he is obviously the
- 12:14Speaker 4: same guy, but if you dare them, they'll put the
- 12:17Speaker 4: ball in his hands twenty five times. And as we
- 12:19Speaker 4: saw last year, he had some good numbers against the
- 12:22Speaker 4: Jaguars because it was you know, three three minus three
- 12:25Speaker 4: then thirty three. Yeah, he can still do that. He's
- 12:28Speaker 4: still dangerous. Here's my point on bully Ready. These guys
- 12:31Speaker 4: have been the bully but they're about to start a
- 12:34Speaker 4: transition to a completely different personnel group and style of play,
- 12:39Speaker 4: and it feels like the Texans now are coming hard
- 12:42Speaker 4: and fast, like we're here. The Jaguars are the best
- 12:46Speaker 4: roster in this division. They are the big dog in
- 12:50Speaker 4: the AFC South right now. They better be the bully
- 12:53Speaker 4: on Sunday and next Sunday as well. They better send
- 12:56Speaker 4: the message that the South is ours. It was your,
- 13:00Speaker 4: it ain't yours again, It's ours. And the only way
- 13:03Speaker 4: you do that is to beat people up on the
- 13:05Speaker 4: line of scrimage. That's how you get it done.
- 13:08Speaker 5: Yeah, I think, especially for the Jaguars defense, this is
- 13:11Speaker 5: an important game and it's a game they should on
- 13:14Speaker 5: pay per matchup. Well against San Francisco obviously very.
- 13:17Speaker 6: Good running the ball.
- 13:19Speaker 5: One hundred and forty four yards is Jaguars allowed, which
- 13:21Speaker 5: was season high. There's been a lot bigger season highs
- 13:23Speaker 5: around here before.
- 13:24Speaker 4: Well a lot of that was when the game had
- 13:26Speaker 4: been already been rigged.
- 13:29Speaker 6: The Titans.
- 13:31Speaker 5: So far this season, this Titans offensive line is not
- 13:35Speaker 5: your father's Titans offensive linelers. So at Jaguars defense that
- 13:42Speaker 5: I still believe is very good stopping the run should
- 13:45Speaker 5: match up against this, and Dereck Henry is still very capable.
- 13:49Speaker 5: What he's not been able to do this year. They
- 13:51Speaker 5: haven't been able to stick with it for long enough
- 13:54Speaker 5: where he can just wear you down and get into
- 13:56Speaker 5: the fourth quarter and be big man Derrick Henry. So
- 14:00Speaker 5: if they can stop that, stop them early, get a lead,
- 14:03Speaker 5: I don't think it'll be a factor, but he's clearly
- 14:05Speaker 5: good enough still. I think you'll have three or four
- 14:09Speaker 5: great games this year, Derek Henry. Let's not have Sunday
- 14:12Speaker 5: be one up, all.
- 14:13Speaker 3: Right, stay with us coming up after the break.
- 14:15Speaker 2: We're gonna go around the league at some of the
- 14:16Speaker 2: goings ons right here on Jagsam. For ten years, Dreamfinders
- 14:29Speaker 2: Homes has been proud to call themselves the official home
- 14:32Speaker 2: builder of the Jacksonville Jaguars. You can visit dreamfinders Homes
- 14:34Speaker 2: dot com for all available inventory and go jags Welcome
- 14:38Speaker 2: back to Jagzam. It's presented by Field's Auto Group Jacksonville.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Step up to Luxury at Fieldsauto dot com or in
- 14:44Speaker 2: the Hyundai studios.
- 14:45Speaker 3: We talked a little bit about Texans.
- 14:46Speaker 2: We're gonna get more into Titans as the week goes on,
- 14:48Speaker 2: but we kind of want to look around the league
- 14:50Speaker 2: as well, because there's a couple of things that are
- 14:53Speaker 2: pretty relevant to us, or at least former players on
- 14:55Speaker 2: this team as well, one of them being Riley Patterson,
- 14:59Speaker 2: who kicked a game winning field goal again against the Chargers.
- 15:03Speaker 3: And then also Jomichael ha.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Used to get dropped by the team earlier this week
- 15:06Speaker 2: and then claimed by the Patriots off waivers. And then
- 15:09Speaker 2: we look at the Bills because I mean, it's always
- 15:11Speaker 2: nice to look at other situations that are going worse
- 15:13Speaker 2: than your own situation make you feel a little bit
- 15:14Speaker 2: better about it. Because they lost the Broncos in frustrating fashion.
- 15:17Speaker 2: They fire their offensive coordinator and they're doing all the changes.
- 15:20Speaker 5: Which filey coach Brian.
- 15:23Speaker 6: It's panic load fire the coach.
- 15:27Speaker 4: I mean, I don't have.
- 15:28Speaker 3: An interesting solution to their problems. I doubt it will be.
- 15:32Speaker 4: But just to bring this up real quick, did you
- 15:34Speaker 4: see that the Bill's logo was painted on the Broncos
- 15:37Speaker 4: practice field last week? I thought that was an interesting
- 15:39Speaker 4: motivational tactic by Sean Payton.
- 15:41Speaker 6: For his team.
- 15:42Speaker 4: Here's the relevance. Josh Allen has eleven interceptions to lead
- 15:47Speaker 4: the league when.
- 15:47Speaker 6: They's coaches fault.
- 15:49Speaker 4: Which coaches fault? When they came to London, that team
- 15:52Speaker 4: was on a three game winning streak. They had averaged
- 15:55Speaker 4: forty two points in the three wins and allowed only
- 15:57Speaker 4: ten and nothing seems to be working for them. And truthfully,
- 16:01Speaker 4: as bad a game as Trevor Lawrence said he played right,
- 16:04Speaker 4: he called it his worst game in the post game
- 16:06Speaker 4: on Sunday. No one's paying any attention because Josh Allen
- 16:09Speaker 4: and the Bills We're supposed to be a contender in
- 16:11Speaker 4: the AFC and right now, Josh Allen, it looks like
- 16:14Speaker 4: he has fallen off a cliff. Do I think he
- 16:16Speaker 4: can get it back. Yeah, he's a big talented guy.
- 16:19Speaker 4: Willie stay tuned.
- 16:20Speaker 6: It's always been.
- 16:23Speaker 5: The moo with Josh is you're concerned about the interceptions
- 16:27Speaker 5: and sometimes being a little loose with you know, I
- 16:29Speaker 5: don't cover him, but the reception is he's loose with
- 16:32Speaker 5: the ball going for the big plays. I just get
- 16:37Speaker 5: tired of the turn key solution always being fire the coach,
- 16:39Speaker 5: fire the coach. I don't think the coaches is throwing
- 16:42Speaker 5: the eleven interceptions, but that's the eleven.
- 16:45Speaker 4: No and John McDermott said he had to do something.
- 16:48Speaker 4: I mean, we've seen it around here and coaches get it.
- 16:51Speaker 4: I'm not twenty eighteen where Doug Maroon fired his friend
- 16:54Speaker 4: Nathaniel Hackett, right, and Hackett went to Green Bay and succeeded.
- 16:59Speaker 4: So it isn't fire the coach. Ken Dorsey wasn't the problem.
- 17:03Speaker 4: I don't think play calling was the issue. You have
- 17:06Speaker 4: a quarterback who you know, he's so big, and he
- 17:08Speaker 4: thinks he can do anything right, even squeezed the ball
- 17:11Speaker 4: into windows. It shouldn't be squeezed into so and for
- 17:14Speaker 4: what it's worth, Trayvon Diggs didn't blame Ken Dorsey. He
- 17:17Speaker 4: blamed Josh Allen.
- 17:18Speaker 3: Let's all point the fingers at each other because that's
- 17:20Speaker 3: what's going on.
- 17:21Speaker 4: That was his brother.
- 17:22Speaker 2: I did like the Riley Patterson game winning field long
- 17:25Speaker 2: goal for him, if only because I know and it
- 17:27Speaker 2: kind of came out of the blue. Obviously, you got
- 17:29Speaker 2: to pick up Brandon McManus if he's available, but Patterson
- 17:32Speaker 2: kind of getting cut out of the Blue and training
- 17:34Speaker 2: camp and then finding a new home in Detroit.
- 17:36Speaker 3: And also it's at the expense of the.
- 17:37Speaker 2: Chargers, So that's always interesting when that comes down to it,
- 17:41Speaker 2: but I mean he seems to have their number, so
- 17:43Speaker 2: I was happy to see that for him for sure.
- 17:45Speaker 4: Yeah, he is a nice kid. And there were some
- 17:47Speaker 4: people who asked me what was the matter with Riley Patterson.
- 17:50Speaker 4: But if you go back and watch his field goal
- 17:51Speaker 4: attempt the game winner against the Chargers here, I mean,
- 17:55Speaker 4: it just barely slid in and you don't see anything,
- 17:58Speaker 4: just barely. With McManus, he's gonna kick indoors most of
- 18:02Speaker 4: the time and he's a good kicker. Good for him.
- 18:06Speaker 6: Look, this is.
- 18:08Speaker 5: Half the kickers in the league have this career path
- 18:11Speaker 5: where it's three or four teams.
- 18:13Speaker 6: Early. Look, Jason Myers, maybe one of the best kickers
- 18:17Speaker 6: in the league, was.
- 18:18Speaker 5: Here and was the object of ridicule from fans a
- 18:21Speaker 5: lot because he missed a couple of field goals.
- 18:23Speaker 6: And early in his career did struggle at times. I
- 18:26Speaker 6: probably should have been cut.
- 18:28Speaker 5: Now deserves the accolades as being one of the best
- 18:31Speaker 5: clutch kickers in the game.
- 18:32Speaker 6: So it's the path. I'm not sure.
- 18:37Speaker 5: I don't know if McManus was with the Broncos from
- 18:39Speaker 5: the very star. I think he opter most of them
- 18:42Speaker 5: hop around. It's a tough business. To start in until
- 18:45Speaker 5: you get trusted from your team.
- 18:46Speaker 4: I was standing on the sideline as he was lining
- 18:48Speaker 4: up Patterson the game winner against the Chargers last January,
- 18:52Speaker 4: and I remember thinking, my goodness, the pressure that he
- 18:54Speaker 4: is on him right now. What must he be thinking?
- 18:59Speaker 6: Better make this kid?
- 19:00Speaker 4: Yeah, she's pretty obvious, but I just as he's lining
- 19:04Speaker 4: up and the whole stadium is holding its breath and
- 19:07Speaker 4: it's all on him and his leg. It was It's
- 19:11Speaker 4: a tough job. People don't think of it that way,
- 19:13Speaker 4: but it is a tough job.
- 19:15Speaker 2: You have to have a certain personality for it, the
- 19:16Speaker 2: same as they say about goalies and hockey, right, you
- 19:19Speaker 2: have to be you have to be ready. You're going
- 19:20Speaker 2: to lose games, absolutely, and you're gonna have to deal
- 19:22Speaker 2: with it and take the brunt of that from everyone.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Our final one is kind of just the mix up
- 19:27Speaker 2: with the running back room a little bit to Michael
- 19:28Speaker 2: Hasty was waved from the team and actually claimed by
- 19:31Speaker 2: three teams on Waiver's gonna end up with the Patriots.
- 19:34Speaker 2: That opens things up here a little bit. We saw
- 19:36Speaker 2: a little bit more of Diners Johnson than we've seen
- 19:38Speaker 2: in the past game, and he had some success out there.
- 19:41Speaker 2: But Tank is just that trouble spot and it's not
- 19:44Speaker 2: his fault. I didn't feel like that pick that went
- 19:47Speaker 2: off of his hands, but it's like, what.
- 19:49Speaker 3: Do you do with it?
- 19:50Speaker 2: You know, you need to keep using him, but it's
- 19:53Speaker 2: it's getting to a weird point now.
- 19:54Speaker 4: Well, I mean, I think John has said it a
- 19:55Speaker 4: couple of times. You know, when the game is on
- 19:58Speaker 4: the line, you're probably not going to put him in.
- 20:00Speaker 4: You're gonna give the ball to Travis. But you know,
- 20:03Speaker 4: bookmark this moment. You know today, when I say it,
- 20:07Speaker 4: a year from now, people will be like, Wow, this
- 20:10Speaker 4: kid is a really good football player and they're going
- 20:12Speaker 4: to need him. And you can't. You can't screw with
- 20:15Speaker 4: his confidence. You just gotta keep giving him the ball
- 20:18Speaker 4: and let him have success. And it will help John
- 20:21Speaker 4: if the interior of the offensive line, has dug alluded
- 20:23Speaker 4: to on Monday in his press conference, gets better with
- 20:26Speaker 4: more time together and continuity Walker and Fortner and Sheriff
- 20:31Speaker 4: playing together, and then you can put him in there
- 20:33Speaker 4: and let him gain four yards, four yards, you know,
- 20:35Speaker 4: fourteen yards and start to build something. He hasn't had
- 20:39Speaker 4: that chance yet yet.
- 20:40Speaker 5: I think Tank's gonna be good. I don't know when
- 20:42Speaker 5: it's gonna happen, because I think he's gonna need a
- 20:45Speaker 5: stretch where he gets ten carries. Yeah, I don't know
- 20:50Speaker 5: if the way it's set up with Travis playing so well,
- 20:52Speaker 5: if it's gonna be realistic to give him time to
- 20:55Speaker 5: get into the flow. Think about Travis this year. If
- 20:59Speaker 5: he was only getting three carries a game, how good
- 21:02Speaker 5: would he be because he has needed those moments where Okay,
- 21:05Speaker 5: I hit the hole and I get seventeen. So I
- 21:08Speaker 5: think at some point we're gonna be talking to Tank Bigs,
- 21:11Speaker 5: be at his locker, and everyboy's gonna be realizing that, hey,
- 21:13Speaker 5: this kid's good. I think it will be tough for
- 21:16Speaker 5: him to reach that in this circumstance, maybe a little
- 21:19Speaker 5: through no fault of his own.
- 21:20Speaker 4: We just got done talking about kickers and how kickers
- 21:23Speaker 4: need time. They're either going to make some misses. They
- 21:26Speaker 4: may need to go to two or three teams. Running backs,
- 21:28Speaker 4: young running backs due to young players need that time.
- 21:31Speaker 4: He needs the time on task. They just need to
- 21:34Speaker 4: find it a window where maybe in the second half
- 21:37Speaker 4: in some game this year they have a lead and
- 21:39Speaker 4: go Tank, it's your time. You know, here's ten carries Go.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Does have a good sounding warn traves etn as well,
- 21:45Speaker 2: who had issues earlier in his career last year and
- 21:48Speaker 2: has moved forward with that. So I think that definitely
- 21:51Speaker 2: is helping Tank because your confidence can be an issue
- 21:53Speaker 2: at this point as well with some of the issues
- 21:54Speaker 2: that he's had.
- 21:55Speaker 3: Say about this.
- 21:56Speaker 2: After the break, we're gonna go over this or that
- 21:58Speaker 2: here on Dick Xam. Price dot Com is the easiest
- 22:09Speaker 2: way to save money with comparison shopping, cash back coupons,
- 22:12Speaker 2: all that in one.
- 22:13Speaker 3: It's free.
- 22:13Speaker 8: Can try price dot com today this, Oh, that's this.
- 22:21Speaker 2: Price dot Com brings us this or that this week
- 22:23Speaker 2: where we try to compare a couple of different things.
- 22:25Speaker 3: Brian, what's dor this.
- 22:26Speaker 8: For that one?
- 22:27Speaker 4: Well, I alluded to it early, and that is the
- 22:28Speaker 4: offensive line of the defensive line. Neither one of them
- 22:31Speaker 4: played very well against the Niners. And the reason that
- 22:34Speaker 4: we pointed out is because the Niners are good on
- 22:36Speaker 4: both lines, right, So there's a little bit of margin
- 22:39Speaker 4: for error there that it was going to be tough
- 22:41Speaker 4: for both sides. But you know, heading into Sunday's game
- 22:43Speaker 4: against the Titans, what gives you more concern the Jaguars
- 22:46Speaker 4: offensive line against Jeffrey Simmons or the Jaguars defensive line
- 22:50Speaker 4: against Derrick Henry.
- 22:52Speaker 6: Thanks an easy too. I think.
- 22:55Speaker 5: I think the offensive line. This Jaguars defensive line, to me,
- 22:58Speaker 5: has had one or two games, but for the most part,
- 23:02Speaker 5: has been I think you could argue that and Travis Ey,
- 23:06Speaker 5: tanneb and the strength of the team. I think they'll
- 23:08Speaker 5: bounce back. I think the offensive line, I expect Walker
- 23:13Speaker 5: little to start again. I think they're going to give
- 23:16Speaker 5: that group time to get cohesion. History so far this
- 23:20Speaker 5: year has shown they bounce back pretty well, so I
- 23:23Speaker 5: think they will, but I.
- 23:24Speaker 6: Think they need to.
- 23:25Speaker 2: If they don't bounce back, then I will be very
- 23:27Speaker 2: angsty if the defensive line doesn't bounce back, because, as
- 23:30Speaker 2: John mentioned, is the strong pseudo the team. The O
- 23:32Speaker 2: line is where the question marks are. That was the
- 23:34Speaker 2: first game we've seen the full starting cast of what
- 23:37Speaker 2: they wanted for their offensive line, so you could argue
- 23:39Speaker 2: that was the first game, but it was a pretty
- 23:40Speaker 2: not great first game.
- 23:41Speaker 4: So I don't know if full appreciation of how good
- 23:44Speaker 4: Jeffrey Simmons is. I know Chris Jones just thought of
- 23:47Speaker 4: as the best defensive tackle in football right now. This
- 23:49Speaker 4: guy's not far from him. He was very good in
- 23:52Speaker 4: both games last year against this team, and he was
- 23:54Speaker 4: playing on a bum angle. It's healthy this year. Watch out.
- 23:59Speaker 5: I went with this is a crisis or a setback,
- 24:02Speaker 5: and yeah, I don't know. I mean, and I don't
- 24:06Speaker 5: think it's a crisis. I mean, I'm sorry, crisis or
- 24:09Speaker 5: bounce back? One off. I think it's a one off.
- 24:15Speaker 5: I don't think that we will see the emails, Brian.
- 24:20Speaker 6: It's like they've lost five.
- 24:21Speaker 5: Games in a row and have never played football before.
- 24:25Speaker 5: This is still a team that's won eleven of fourteen games.
- 24:28Speaker 5: It won five straight games going into this last game.
- 24:30Speaker 5: I still think the same things that enabled them to
- 24:34Speaker 5: beat good teams, not great teams, but they beat good
- 24:37Speaker 5: teams this year. I think those teams. I think those
- 24:40Speaker 5: things are there, and I think that will be enough.
- 24:44Speaker 6: Eight games left.
- 24:45Speaker 5: I think that's enough to win five or six of
- 24:46Speaker 5: those last eight games, which gets you to what eleven
- 24:49Speaker 5: or twelve wins. That's you know, better than not covered
- 24:54Speaker 5: a bunch of twelve games. Teven seasons, right, I lost
- 24:57Speaker 5: seasons too, So they still have a chance to be really,
- 25:01Speaker 5: really good. So I think it's a one off.
- 25:04Speaker 4: I think it's a one off, but we're gonna find out,
- 25:06Speaker 4: because you have they've not played well against the better
- 25:10Speaker 4: teams at home, right Kansas City and let's not forget Houston,
- 25:13Speaker 4: but Kansas City and San Francisco in particular. You've got
- 25:16Speaker 4: the Bengals and the Ravens coming up in a maounter
- 25:20Speaker 4: of weeks here in prime time at home. We're gonna
- 25:22Speaker 4: find out whether it's a home curse or whatever you
- 25:25Speaker 4: want to call it. But it feels like a one
- 25:27Speaker 4: off because we've seen this team play well. We've seen
- 25:30Speaker 4: them overcome the adversity of five different games in five
- 25:33Speaker 4: different stadiums, in six different time zones, all that stuff
- 25:37Speaker 4: across six different time zone. So I think it's a
- 25:39Speaker 4: one off. We luckily are going to have the opportunity
- 25:42Speaker 4: to find out for sure over the next couple of weeks.
- 25:45Speaker 3: I think it's a one off. Two I'm hoping so.
- 25:47Speaker 2: But I think some of the issues that are repetitive
- 25:49Speaker 2: that haven't been addressed, or the problems that I'm having
- 25:52Speaker 2: offensive line not getting the passing game going, those are
- 25:54Speaker 2: issues that have not progressed at this point, so that
- 25:57Speaker 2: is something that I'm going to keep an eye on
- 25:58Speaker 2: because I definitely think they can beat Titans. But if
- 26:00Speaker 2: they're doing it in a way where they did on
- 26:02Speaker 2: their five game win streak, have they really gotten any
- 26:04Speaker 2: better or are they just kind of maintaining status quo?
- 26:07Speaker 2: So my this or that this week is a little
- 26:09Speaker 2: bit about that. Do you stand pat and try to
- 26:11Speaker 2: keep going it's a week eleven they've been trying to
- 26:13Speaker 2: do that, or do you mix things up? When Ezra
- 26:16Speaker 2: Cleveland is ready to put him into the lineup on
- 26:18Speaker 2: offensive line, we know he plays a good left guard.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Walker Little we haven't seen him there a ton. People
- 26:23Speaker 2: do find that he can play different positions, But do
- 26:26Speaker 2: you put him in there and kind of use Walker
- 26:28Speaker 2: as the swing tackle at that point?
- 26:29Speaker 4: Well, that would be the only thing you could really
- 26:31Speaker 4: change up on the roster right because you're dealing with
- 26:33Speaker 4: so many injuries in the defensive backfield, there's not a
- 26:37Speaker 4: lot you can do there. I don't know. I think
- 26:40Speaker 4: I would tend to stand pat. You've got a lot
- 26:42Speaker 4: of money in Brandon Sheriff. He is no longer the
- 26:45Speaker 4: five time Pro Bowl guy, but he's still a pretty good player,
- 26:48Speaker 4: and Walker Little hasn't played a whole lot of left guard.
- 26:51Speaker 4: I go back to a guy who I kept hammering at,
- 26:55Speaker 4: and that was Luke Fordtner, and the coach defended him,
- 26:58Speaker 4: saying he needs better guard play, better guard play, consistent
- 27:02Speaker 4: guard play. I don't think you changed that up yet.
- 27:05Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 27:05Speaker 5: I'm part of the issue with the offensive line has
- 27:09Speaker 5: been they haven't played together yet.
- 27:11Speaker 6: So do you move.
- 27:14Speaker 5: Walker Little output as Cleveland in after one and then
- 27:17Speaker 5: what happens if he doesn't play well?
- 27:18Speaker 6: Then you move it back?
- 27:19Speaker 5: So I think this is probably the week to try
- 27:25Speaker 5: to get some continuity.
- 27:28Speaker 6: And hope that Walker Little they believe it's a good play.
- 27:32Speaker 5: I mean, it's funny until Sunday, Walker Lio was best
- 27:35Speaker 5: offensive lineman on this team, remember, Yeah, So let's give
- 27:39Speaker 5: that a chance, not panic, and see if some continuity
- 27:45Speaker 5: there and not playing against a great I'm not saying
- 27:48Speaker 5: Jefy Simmons didn't good, but I don't think you would
- 27:50Speaker 5: think that the Titans defensive line is as monstrous right
- 27:54Speaker 5: now as the forty nine ers.
- 27:55Speaker 6: So let's see how they can do against.
- 27:59Speaker 5: And again get their feet wet a little bit before
- 28:01Speaker 5: you make another change.
- 28:02Speaker 6: I would think that's.
- 28:03Speaker 4: How they go.
- 28:03Speaker 2: I think part of it too is getting Trevor to
- 28:05Speaker 2: believe he's feeling protected as well, because you can tell
- 28:08Speaker 2: by the ways moving his feet out there, he doesn't
- 28:10Speaker 2: feel safe in the pocket. So that's obviously affecting a
- 28:13Speaker 2: lot of what the offense has been able to do
- 28:15Speaker 2: or not been able to do for I don't feel safe.
- 28:18Speaker 2: It's not safe here. That's definitely something that they're gonna
- 28:22Speaker 2: have to work on. I'll bond together, feel a little
- 28:24Speaker 2: safe together, say well, let's we'll talk about what we
- 28:26Speaker 2: got going on the rest of the week here in Jags.
- 28:28Speaker 8: Am Jags fans.
- 28:39Speaker 2: If you want customized Jaguars furniture for your home, checkout
- 28:42Speaker 2: zipchare dot com to browse all customizable options. Zip Chair
- 28:45Speaker 2: is furniture made for fans and this weekend's game against
- 28:48Speaker 2: the Titans is delivered by CSX.
- 28:51Speaker 3: CSX is how Tomorrow Moves.
- 28:57Speaker 4: I hate losing.
- 28:58Speaker 9: I feel like no one loves to lose. And I
- 29:01Speaker 9: feel like we don't come here and work our butts
- 29:03Speaker 9: off every day to go out there and put performance
- 29:05Speaker 9: out there like that. And I feel like it's unfair
- 29:07Speaker 9: to our fans to even go out there and do that,
- 29:10Speaker 9: so we definitely got to all let a simmer and just
- 29:13Speaker 9: kind of uses us field to prepare us throughout the
- 29:15Speaker 9: rest of the season.
- 29:17Speaker 2: Travis talking, it's unfair the fans had to watch that.
- 29:19Speaker 2: That's probably true someday that they had to watch that
- 29:22Speaker 2: at home. They always seemed to get up for the Titans, though,
- 29:25Speaker 2: so I expect a much better matchup.
- 29:27Speaker 4: Yeah, it's strange because the Titans, for guys like John
- 29:31Speaker 4: and I who were here, you know, when they were
- 29:33Speaker 4: the Oilers in the early days and Jeff Fisher was
- 29:35Speaker 4: mouthing off, it became a bit of a natural rivalry
- 29:37Speaker 4: and then it kind of flowed away, and it's been
- 29:40Speaker 4: a long time since the rivalry was is heated, especially
- 29:43Speaker 4: with the Jags winning both those games last year. But
- 29:46Speaker 4: it's funny think Doug has has been a nice job
- 29:49Speaker 4: of reminding these players of the history of the franchise,
- 29:53Speaker 4: and well, it's easy to get up when they have
- 29:56Speaker 4: some good players who can embarrass it.
- 29:58Speaker 5: Yeah, Jaguars weren't very good for long time, so rivalries
- 30:01Speaker 5: tend to faith, so they're back. Trevor had the look
- 30:06Speaker 5: at the scoreboard moment last year in the stiff arm
- 30:09Speaker 5: that's always fine.
- 30:11Speaker 6: You know.
- 30:12Speaker 5: I think rivalries where they talk a little bit and
- 30:15Speaker 5: they clearly want to beat the other guy and they're
- 30:16Speaker 5: thinking about the other team.
- 30:18Speaker 6: That's what it's all about. Supposed to be fun.
- 30:20Speaker 4: Steelers can't be your rival because they're not on the
- 30:22Speaker 4: schedule every year, and though Kansas City has been the
- 30:24Speaker 4: last couple of years, they're not on it every year either.
- 30:26Speaker 4: The Titans, the Colts, and the Texans. You've got to
- 30:28Speaker 4: carve rivalries from them so that you fill your stadium
- 30:31Speaker 4: and people get up for the games. And it's nice
- 30:33Speaker 4: to see some of that coming back.
- 30:34Speaker 3: I see when Bruin and Houston as Yeah, so stay
- 30:37Speaker 3: with us.
- 30:37Speaker 2: We're gonna fully preview that Titans matchup for you tomorrow
- 30:40Speaker 2: right here on Jagsam.
- 30:41Speaker 3: We'll see you then,
