- 0:26Speaker 2: Welcome to Meet Eater Radio Live. It's eleven am Mountain Time.
- 0:30Speaker 2: That's nine am for our friends in Prudo Bay, Alaska,
- 0:33Speaker 2: where Seth Morris tells me it's negative forty degrees. Today's Thursday,
- 0:38Speaker 2: January eighth, twenty twenty six. Ooh, and we're live from
- 0:43Speaker 2: Meet Eater HQ and Boseman. I'm your host, Randall Williams,
- 0:46Speaker 2: joined today by my two friends and colleagues, Corey Culkins
- 0:51Speaker 2: and Seth Morris. On today's show, we'll interview Brandon Maddox
- 0:55Speaker 2: from Soulencer Central about some big news in the world
- 0:58Speaker 2: of suppressor ownership with you got a sizzling hot tip
- 1:01Speaker 2: off for you. We're gonna catch up with mister Clay
- 1:04Speaker 2: Nukeomb who recently got himself a big old buck, and
- 1:07Speaker 2: we're gonna play a thrilling round of.
- 1:09Speaker 3: The Price is Right but Exciting.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Before we get into that, Seth, Corey, it's great to
- 1:15Speaker 2: be here with you both. A brand new year, exciting
- 1:18Speaker 2: things ahead of us. How have you been, Oh?
- 1:20Speaker 4: Well, happy New Year?
- 1:21Speaker 3: Yeah, happy new Year? Been great?
- 1:23Speaker 2: Any fun adventures from the high Cory. I know you're
- 1:26Speaker 2: you're on the mend.
- 1:28Speaker 3: It's true.
- 1:28Speaker 5: Yeah, boy, the last time I was on the show,
- 1:30Speaker 5: I had a big old black eye.
- 1:32Speaker 2: Yeah, you look good, thank you?
- 1:34Speaker 3: Yeahel good. You look fully healed.
- 1:37Speaker 4: Well, a couple of brain cells might still.
- 1:39Speaker 3: Be in there. Way, some of the injuries are invisible. Yeah,
- 1:42Speaker 3: and forever lasting.
- 1:44Speaker 4: Feeling a lot better though, thank you very much for asking.
- 1:46Speaker 2: That's good, Seth. You have any fun holiday break adventures?
- 1:50Speaker 6: Yeah, did some haunting. The nice little extension on the
- 1:55Speaker 6: deer season here in some units in Montana capitalized on that.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Yeah, we've got an extended season in some areas around
- 2:04Speaker 2: the general vicinity of Bozeman because of an EHD outbreak. Yep,
- 2:09Speaker 2: even the missus took advantage.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Yes, we killed some dose for the freezer.
- 2:13Speaker 6: And then H did some ice fishing, which is tough
- 2:16Speaker 6: to do in Montana right now. Oh yeah, you gotta
- 2:18Speaker 6: go up to elevation to find some good ice.
- 2:21Speaker 2: And you were telling me earlier that people shouldn't look
- 2:24Speaker 2: for their ice reports on Facebook.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Well you can, but people are just kind of mean.
- 2:30Speaker 4: They are.
- 2:31Speaker 3: The ice fishermen are in bad moods right now.
- 2:33Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I'm in those same groups and.
- 2:35Speaker 3: The Montana Ice Report. Yeah, people are just just.
- 2:38Speaker 6: Just you know, nice guys going on there asking to
- 2:41Speaker 6: see if there's any ice anywhere, and people just light
- 2:43Speaker 6: them up.
- 2:43Speaker 3: It's ridiculous. Yeah, go find out for yourself. Yeah, we
- 2:46Speaker 3: shall be in the same boat here. Yeah, we're all friends, guys.
- 2:49Speaker 5: Yeah, some folks don't want to drive five hours to
- 2:51Speaker 5: have to just turn around because it's not safe.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly because someone lied to them on Facebook. Right, Corey,
- 2:57Speaker 2: did you get outside at all? Or are you mostly?
- 2:59Speaker 1: Uh?
- 3:00Speaker 5: You know, I was kind of hold up for half
- 3:02Speaker 5: of our break and then the second half I didn't
- 3:05Speaker 5: get out a whole lot, honestly. Gained fifteen pounds, did
- 3:09Speaker 5: a little skiing, but yeah, it's kind of a dreary
- 3:12Speaker 5: start to the winter around here. A lot of folks,
- 3:15Speaker 5: I think in the Rocky Mountain West are familiar with
- 3:17Speaker 5: right now. It's very dry and warm here in southwest Montana.
- 3:22Speaker 5: It's pretty sad. So, yeah, the ice fishing is not
- 3:25Speaker 5: really happening down here right now, and skiing's piss poor.
- 3:30Speaker 4: Yeah, we went for pressing.
- 3:31Speaker 2: We went for a hike hoping it would be drier,
- 3:33Speaker 2: but we were we'd gotten too high up in elevation
- 3:38Speaker 2: and it was just mud.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Oh yeah, it's so mud season. Yeah, shot some ducks.
- 3:43Speaker 2: With I wanted to know how the suits live, so
- 3:48Speaker 2: I thought what better way than to spend a day
- 3:50Speaker 2: with the CEO. So Ryan Callahan took me duck hunting,
- 3:54Speaker 2: shot a couple of ducks. All right, it turns out
- 3:56Speaker 2: that CEOs lived just like the rest of us. Really, Yeah, yeah,
- 4:00Speaker 2: can they shoot? He probably wouldn't want me to say this,
- 4:04Speaker 2: but Calc kind of had a rough day.
- 4:06Speaker 3: It's tough.
- 4:07Speaker 6: Yeah, I would say, is probably not like other CEOs though,
- 4:11Speaker 6: he probably hasn't changed a bit and won't change a bit.
- 4:14Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 4:14Speaker 2: I text him the other day to ask him how
- 4:16Speaker 2: his first day was, and he hasn't responded yet.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Oh he's changing.
- 4:19Speaker 7: He's changing eight days ago.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Uh no, Monday, officially on Monday. Yeah, so's he's a
- 4:27Speaker 2: busy man. I'll hear from him at some point, I'm
- 4:29Speaker 2: sure you will. Yeah, what do we have?
- 4:34Speaker 3: Do you have anything?
- 4:35Speaker 2: Look like in the next month or two any outdoor
- 4:38Speaker 2: adventures planned?
- 4:40Speaker 3: We're going to Texas next week, that's right. Yeah, what
- 4:43Speaker 3: are you doing down there? We're gonna go hunt some
- 4:44Speaker 3: bobcats and hawks. Well that sounds fun. Yeah, it should
- 4:49Speaker 3: be a good time. We have a special guest joining you. Yeah. Yeah,
- 4:53Speaker 3: Kevin Murphy. The people love it. The what do we
- 4:58Speaker 3: call him, he's like the guy father of small game
- 5:01Speaker 3: or the.
- 5:02Speaker 4: Steve's coined him as the world's greatest, greatest.
- 5:04Speaker 3: Small game hunter. Yeah, yeah, I love that guy.
- 5:07Speaker 5: That'll be fun to have him back on now hunting bobcats.
- 5:10Speaker 6: Yeah, call him in, calling him in, calling him in
- 5:13Speaker 6: and shooting the shotguns. Wow, call him in close.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Cool?
- 5:16Speaker 6: Yeah, down there in that brush and in South Texas,
- 5:19Speaker 6: just getting like a pocket that's pretty tight and start
- 5:22Speaker 6: calling and it's kind of crazy. Last time we did it,
- 5:27Speaker 6: there's one stand we did where we call it in
- 5:29Speaker 6: fourteen coyotes.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Mm hm and uh. I think the time of the
- 5:36Speaker 3: stands we did, bobcats came in. That's incredible.
- 5:38Speaker 8: Wow.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Yeah, a lot of kiddies, a lot of.
- 5:41Speaker 4: Their fur is probably as good as it's going to
- 5:42Speaker 4: get down there right now.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Yeah, which is not great, But I.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Bet Steve will spend a lot of time talking about
- 5:48Speaker 2: how the cats in Montana are better.
- 5:50Speaker 5: Yes, yeah, Well as a Montana and a football fan.
- 5:54Speaker 5: I'd love to shoot a Bobcat right now.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Cochriz a Gameye, Corey's Corey's not a Corey's not a
- 6:03Speaker 2: bandwagon fan.
- 6:04Speaker 3: No, Corey went down with the ships everal.
- 6:06Speaker 4: Weeks as the hell of a game.
- 6:11Speaker 3: It was, indeed well.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Joining us first on the line is Brandon Maddox, the
- 6:15Speaker 2: founder and CEO of Silencer Central.
- 6:20Speaker 9: How are you, gentlemen.
- 6:21Speaker 3: We're doing very well, Harry.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Thanks for being on the show.
- 6:24Speaker 10: Yeah, speaking of suits, I feel bad I got one
- 6:26Speaker 10: on today. I had a legislative event.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Well, you lost the tie, so you'll fit right in
- 6:32Speaker 2: around here.
- 6:33Speaker 4: Yeah, looking good.
- 6:35Speaker 3: So, Brandon, we wanted to have you on.
- 6:38Speaker 2: As some of our audience might know, last week, we
- 6:41Speaker 2: saw a pretty significant change in the world of suppressor
- 6:44Speaker 2: ownership or suppressor buying. But to fully appreciate that news,
- 6:48Speaker 2: you kind of need to know how it all works.
- 6:50Speaker 2: So I wonder if you can begin by just explaining
- 6:52Speaker 2: sort of the basic requirements and process, and and then
- 6:56Speaker 2: also how Silence Essential makes that easy for folks.
- 7:01Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 7:01Speaker 10: Sure, So, of course the laws change where there's no
- 7:04Speaker 10: tax stamp anymore, so it's cheaper to get a suppressor.
- 7:08Speaker 10: But you know, basic requirements are you got to be
- 7:10Speaker 10: able to pass the background check, Say it was buying
- 7:12Speaker 10: a firearm.
- 7:14Speaker 9: It's basically a title transfer.
- 7:15Speaker 10: We're asking the FEDS to retitle the ownership of the
- 7:17Speaker 10: silencer from us to you, and we just have to
- 7:20Speaker 10: have fingerprints and photos still from like a nineteen thirty
- 7:23Speaker 10: four requirement. We spit it to the ATF digitally, they
- 7:26Speaker 10: approve it, and then silences are central. Ships that sigwnich
- 7:28Speaker 10: are directly to your front door. So we know that's
- 7:31Speaker 10: popular in a lot of areas where you don't have
- 7:33Speaker 10: to leave the couch. You can buy express or it
- 7:34Speaker 10: shows right up to your front door. So yeah, that
- 7:38Speaker 10: our process. Think of it as we sort of own
- 7:40Speaker 10: the whole process. So when you buy one, we're managing
- 7:42Speaker 10: the paperwork for you digitally and you know, sending you
- 7:45Speaker 10: a text say hey you need to sign this, or
- 7:47Speaker 10: you know, sending a text say hey, don't forget it's approved.
- 7:49Speaker 10: We're about to ship it to you. So think of
- 7:51Speaker 10: it as a fully automated process through. Silences are central
- 7:54Speaker 10: from beginning to end.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Yeah, and there's I mean, as someone who's gone through
- 7:58Speaker 2: this process more times than i'd like to admit, there's
- 8:01Speaker 2: a lot of sort of boxes to check, and your
- 8:04Speaker 2: system just guides people right through it and kind of
- 8:07Speaker 2: holds their hand and makes it relatively seamless.
- 8:12Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 8:12Speaker 10: Absolutely, because basically we gather your information and then we
- 8:16Speaker 10: put it all into the forums. Then we let you
- 8:17Speaker 10: look at it, make sure we fill it out on
- 8:19Speaker 10: your behalf right, and then basically you're submitting it with
- 8:21Speaker 10: your own username and pen, which kind of creates your
- 8:23Speaker 10: digital signature, and then it goes right to the ATF
- 8:26Speaker 10: as soon as.
- 8:26Speaker 9: They approve it.
- 8:27Speaker 10: We mail it to your front door from our location
- 8:29Speaker 10: in your state, so we're in all forty two states
- 8:31Speaker 10: where silencers are legal. We have a physical location a
- 8:34Speaker 10: FFL there, we just ship it right to your front
- 8:35Speaker 10: door from there.
- 8:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 8:37Speaker 2: The first time that I received a package from you guys,
- 8:41Speaker 2: it was pretty surreal because I've done it the other
- 8:44Speaker 2: way and it's a lot of trips, you know, going
- 8:47Speaker 2: back and forth to a Class three dealer and doing
- 8:51Speaker 2: the whole like whatever it proved the ATF submission, come back,
- 8:56Speaker 2: go get it and all that stuff. So to just
- 8:58Speaker 2: have it arrive at your doors is pretty amazing. You
- 9:02Speaker 2: mentioned that the tax stamp the two hundred dollars fee
- 9:06Speaker 2: associated with the taps. The tax stamp has now gone
- 9:09Speaker 2: down to zero dollars. That was part of a bill
- 9:13Speaker 2: last year and now it's effective as of January first,
- 9:16Speaker 2: So basically all the suppressors out there are now two
- 9:20Speaker 2: hundred dollars cheaper in terms of like the end user
- 9:23Speaker 2: out of pocket.
- 9:25Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Absolutely, How has that changed demand in the past few
- 9:29Speaker 2: in the past week or so, I mean, I imagine that
- 9:32Speaker 2: that business is looking pretty good for you guys right now.
- 9:35Speaker 9: Oh yeah, absolutely.
- 9:36Speaker 10: I mean you probably look online at some of the
- 9:37Speaker 10: forums of the groups, the dealers will tell you the
- 9:40Speaker 10: ATS websites crashing. You know, I'm pleased to say that
- 9:44Speaker 10: as of yesterday, we're real time far as submitting. You know,
- 9:46Speaker 10: anyone that was in the system on December twenty sixth
- 9:49Speaker 10: of twenty.
- 9:50Speaker 9: Five got kicked out.
- 9:51Speaker 10: They basically took anything that was waiting for approval and
- 9:54Speaker 10: they denied it, so we had to resubmit it. So,
- 9:56Speaker 10: and of course we've probably had a lot of people
- 9:57Speaker 10: bent up demand, people wanting to get them and then
- 10:00Speaker 10: waiting until the two and dollars tax stamp went through.
- 10:02Speaker 10: But you know, we're real time in our submitting. You know,
- 10:05Speaker 10: it's created a backlog of the ATF just because of
- 10:08Speaker 10: the you know, their computer system hasn't probably been able
- 10:10Speaker 10: to handle the volume as well as we had hoped
- 10:13Speaker 10: it even as they had hoped. In some cases, we're
- 10:15Speaker 10: having to submit your information, you know, twenty five, twenty
- 10:18Speaker 10: six times, but we're doing it digitally on the back end,
- 10:20Speaker 10: so you're not having a fool with it.
- 10:21Speaker 9: But I would say demands up three to four x,
- 10:24Speaker 9: you know.
- 10:26Speaker 10: You know, in the last year, we're all sitting around
- 10:27Speaker 10: going how many silencers should we make, and how many
- 10:29Speaker 10: should we buy and how many should we have ready
- 10:31Speaker 10: to sell? And it was really a crapshoot. Were just
- 10:32Speaker 10: throwing dice. But now that we're in it, we got
- 10:34Speaker 10: to keep up with the demand. So we're continuing to
- 10:36Speaker 10: buy more suppressors from other manufacturers and also make our
- 10:39Speaker 10: own to meet the demand.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Right.
- 10:41Speaker 2: And one of the bigger changes in the last few
- 10:44Speaker 2: years was the reduction in that weight time. Yes, I
- 10:49Speaker 2: guess maybe two three years ago, the ATF started processing
- 10:52Speaker 2: those things in what was once like a thirteen fourteen
- 10:56Speaker 2: month timeline down to maybe even a couple of days,
- 10:59Speaker 2: and that's what got me in the game, so to speak,
- 11:04Speaker 2: and really made me want to hop in. So it's
- 11:06Speaker 2: interesting that you see and at that time too, all
- 11:09Speaker 2: of a sudden, the suppressions that you wanted were out
- 11:11Speaker 2: of stock everywhere. So it's interesting how these little changes
- 11:15Speaker 2: in the process of acquiring one can result in this
- 11:18Speaker 2: huge demand for manufacturers like your like Science are Central.
- 11:23Speaker 9: Yeah, no, absolutely, Hey, obviously it's exciting for us.
- 11:26Speaker 10: Anytime you have demand and you're having trouble keeping up
- 11:28Speaker 10: with your phone calls, you're staying up late to return
- 11:30Speaker 10: phone calls, it's always always called a happy problem. But
- 11:34Speaker 10: you are right, small changes can create additional demand. I mean,
- 11:38Speaker 10: you know, Obama getting elected created a huge demand. You know,
- 11:40Speaker 10: he made some changes in twenty sixteen that created demand.
- 11:43Speaker 10: So there's been a lot of small things. But I
- 11:45Speaker 10: would definitely say, you know, I've been doing this twenty
- 11:48Speaker 10: plus years, and i'd say since the inception of nineteen
- 11:50Speaker 10: thirty four when they started this process. This is probably
- 11:53Speaker 10: the biggest change in the industry scene. I think it's
- 11:55Speaker 10: going to create more acceptance. I think that more people
- 11:58Speaker 10: using them are going to educate their elected to fits,
- 12:00Speaker 10: and we hope it's sort of a stepping stone to
- 12:01Speaker 10: further deregulation.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Yeah, well, that's that's exciting news. You know, as I mentioned,
- 12:08Speaker 2: there's probably people that are now maybe giving more serious
- 12:11Speaker 2: consideration to getting their first can What what did someone
- 12:16Speaker 2: need to know or need to look into as far
- 12:19Speaker 2: as figuring out what product they want and sort of
- 12:23Speaker 2: what do they for a first time consumer or first
- 12:26Speaker 2: time shop or what what advice would you give that individual?
- 12:30Speaker 9: Yeah, that's a good question.
- 12:31Speaker 10: So you know, in Silence a Central we sell everybody's stuff,
- 12:34Speaker 10: so you know, feel free to call us and we
- 12:35Speaker 10: can give you all the options available for what you're
- 12:37Speaker 10: trying to shoot. I mean there's two there's two schools
- 12:39Speaker 10: of thought. I mean some people will say, hey, their
- 12:41Speaker 10: initial sort of gut reaction when they start going down
- 12:44Speaker 10: this path is I would like to get a suppressor
- 12:46Speaker 10: silencer that could use on all my firearms. So they
- 12:49Speaker 10: kind of go down that path of getting something probably
- 12:51Speaker 10: too big, but that they could use for everything. Typically,
- 12:53Speaker 10: my personal advice has always been pick which firearm you
- 12:57Speaker 10: shoot the most frequently, and then get a suppress are
- 13:00Speaker 10: kind of tailored for that, and you'll find it to
- 13:02Speaker 10: be so effective. It's easier to open your wallet to
- 13:04Speaker 10: buy further later. You hate to buy one that's not perfect,
- 13:07Speaker 10: and then you don't like it and you wish you
- 13:09Speaker 10: had bought one for the one to shoot the most.
- 13:11Speaker 10: So my encouragement always is to think of the weapon
- 13:13Speaker 10: to shoot the most, and then suppress it because it's
- 13:16Speaker 10: gonna work better than you thought it would, and then
- 13:17Speaker 10: it's going to open the door for you maybe to
- 13:19Speaker 10: get further later. Just sometimes some people start the path
- 13:21Speaker 10: of going down multi caliber wanting to get one that
- 13:23Speaker 10: covers everything.
- 13:24Speaker 9: I just don't want them to be disappointed.
- 13:26Speaker 10: Not that they would be, but I just don't want
- 13:27Speaker 10: them to get something too big of a hole through
- 13:29Speaker 10: the middle, and then it's not as effective as it
- 13:31Speaker 10: could be.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Right, And and like there's I remember reading it before
- 13:37Speaker 2: I owned a can. I remember reading, Oh, once you
- 13:39Speaker 2: buy the first one, then you're you're hooked, and you're
- 13:42Speaker 2: just going to keep buying more and more.
- 13:44Speaker 3: I'm in that boat. Oh yeah, that's true, because I
- 13:46Speaker 3: think I.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Had an idea in my mind of what owning a
- 13:50Speaker 2: can would be like as far as just my shooting
- 13:53Speaker 2: experience and my hunting experience. But it's really like surpassed
- 13:58Speaker 2: any expectation that I had of just like changing how
- 14:01Speaker 2: I use my guns and how I hunt, like with
- 14:05Speaker 2: a partner with my wife, trips to the range, and
- 14:07Speaker 2: everything else like that. I mean, what do you hear
- 14:09Speaker 2: from customers that a first time customer that gets their
- 14:12Speaker 2: first can, and how do you hear from those folks
- 14:15Speaker 2: as far as like what their impressions are and what
- 14:17Speaker 2: surprises them?
- 14:19Speaker 10: Yeah, one hundred percent. I mean I'd say you're spot on.
- 14:21Speaker 10: I mean, it's that's why I liked getting into suppressors.
- 14:24Speaker 10: I mean, most people know my backstory. I start out
- 14:26Speaker 10: as a pharmacist, and people thought, why would you leave
- 14:28Speaker 10: pharmacist go into this, And I'm like, it's just so
- 14:30Speaker 10: exciting because I feel like you really had to twist
- 14:32Speaker 10: people's arms years ago when the assigleuncers weren't as familiar
- 14:35Speaker 10: to get them to buy one. But one hundred percent
- 14:37Speaker 10: of the time, once they bought one, they said, I'll
- 14:39Speaker 10: never shoot a shoot a rifle or handgun again without
- 14:42Speaker 10: a suppressor.
- 14:43Speaker 9: So it's kind of a life changing deal.
- 14:44Speaker 10: I mean people go from just kind of you know,
- 14:47Speaker 10: handling the sound, handling the recoil to now to have
- 14:49Speaker 10: a tool to mitigate it. It's a nice luxury once
- 14:52Speaker 10: you know each of you all have seen it. Once
- 14:54Speaker 10: you use it, you never want to shoot again with
- 14:55Speaker 10: that one.
- 14:56Speaker 2: Yeah, and this is this is not in the scripture,
- 14:59Speaker 2: but I'm just remembering.
- 15:00Speaker 3: We did a live tour.
- 15:03Speaker 2: In the South in December and one of our guests
- 15:06Speaker 2: at one of those events was Will Primos, and Steve
- 15:09Speaker 2: asked him, if you could give your younger self one
- 15:12Speaker 2: piece of advice, what would it be? And Will, without hesitation, said,
- 15:16Speaker 2: protect your hearing.
- 15:17Speaker 3: So I mean.
- 15:18Speaker 2: It's a big, big, big deal. So yeah, Brandon, looking ahead,
- 15:25Speaker 2: I mean we're obviously at a moment right now where
- 15:28Speaker 2: things are real exciting. But looking ahead to twenty twenty six,
- 15:31Speaker 2: what's new on your end as far as the business
- 15:34Speaker 2: or the banished product line or things that folks can
- 15:38Speaker 2: look forward to.
- 15:39Speaker 10: Yeah, So I'd say one thing is we'll continue to
- 15:41Speaker 10: see more products come out for sign Wentz Central. One
- 15:44Speaker 10: thing is important is just waight, so think about the
- 15:46Speaker 10: Titanium options. The other thing we have in coming out
- 15:48Speaker 10: and I know your audience is probably more consumers, but
- 15:51Speaker 10: we also have a software that now we're going to
- 15:53Speaker 10: have dealers where they can actually use our software to
- 15:55Speaker 10: help them process the forums. So, you know, we're kind
- 15:57Speaker 10: of famous over the years for working events. You know,
- 15:59Speaker 10: we work over hundred events a year. We sort of
- 16:01Speaker 10: fine tuned our software to help sort of intake that
- 16:04Speaker 10: information from the events we've worked. So now we're going
- 16:06Speaker 10: to roll it out to actual dealers too. So you know,
- 16:09Speaker 10: we know only about twenty five to thirty percent of
- 16:11Speaker 10: FFL dealers actually sell silencers. Our goals to you know,
- 16:13Speaker 10: kind of double that at least make it. We're half
- 16:16Speaker 10: of people that have an FFL that are in the
- 16:17Speaker 10: business of selling firearms also do suppressors. So we're going
- 16:20Speaker 10: to make software for them that's really cost effective. It
- 16:23Speaker 10: makes it easier for them to you know, take the
- 16:25Speaker 10: information in from the consumer and then actually process getting
- 16:27Speaker 10: a silencer.
- 16:28Speaker 2: You know, super easy, Very cool, and you guys was
- 16:32Speaker 2: sort of touched on this a little bit. But Silence
- 16:35Speaker 2: or Central offers services beyond just simply the retail I mean,
- 16:39Speaker 2: you do barrel threading. A last year, I did an
- 16:42Speaker 2: SBR through your web interface. I mean sort of it's
- 16:46Speaker 2: a one stop shop if you're looking to make this
- 16:50Speaker 2: transition as far as like getting what you need on
- 16:53Speaker 2: the legal side and also getting what you need on
- 16:55Speaker 2: the product side.
- 16:56Speaker 9: Yeah. Absolutely.
- 16:57Speaker 10: I mean, obviously our expertise is the whole compliance side,
- 17:00Speaker 10: making sure everything's done right. And i'd say that, you know,
- 17:03Speaker 10: really last year, we knew it was going to be
- 17:05Speaker 10: slow the last seven months of the year because everyone
- 17:06Speaker 10: knew this two under all our tax was going away,
- 17:09Speaker 10: So we really doubled down as an organization to find
- 17:11Speaker 10: ways to make us more efficient and also to add
- 17:13Speaker 10: more technology to our processes so that it was just
- 17:15Speaker 10: seamless for the consumers. So I think that you know,
- 17:18Speaker 10: even if someone's bought in the past, if they go
- 17:19Speaker 10: through the process with us again, they're going to see
- 17:21Speaker 10: a lot of areas where you know, maybe things took
- 17:23Speaker 10: a little bit longer than you know, we both hope,
- 17:25Speaker 10: and now they're just so much.
- 17:26Speaker 9: Smoother and quicker.
- 17:28Speaker 10: Just we're really in a position where we're able to
- 17:29Speaker 10: handle the volume and scale it up. And it's always
- 17:31Speaker 10: hard when we're you know, we've won e five thousand
- 17:33Speaker 10: every year we've applied, so you know, you see that growth.
- 17:36Speaker 10: But I feel like we really were able to spend
- 17:37Speaker 10: six or seven months really focusing on the organization making
- 17:40Speaker 10: that technology and making it more efficient.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Very cool.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Well, Brandon, I know you guys are busy over there,
- 17:46Speaker 2: so we won't take up any more of your time.
- 17:49Speaker 2: Happy new Year. Great chatting with you, and hope to
- 17:51Speaker 2: talk to you again here.
- 17:52Speaker 9: Thank you, thanks for opportunity, you have a good new year.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Thanks for branding.
- 17:56Speaker 9: See you guys.
- 17:58Speaker 4: Oh boy, I couldn't imagine suppressor.
- 18:03Speaker 3: They're so awesome.
- 18:04Speaker 5: I curse it carrying around that extra length. I haven't
- 18:07Speaker 5: delved into like cutting my barrel down. Well, but I'm
- 18:11Speaker 5: not that techie.
- 18:13Speaker 3: Oh, don't have the need to give you.
- 18:15Speaker 2: I'll give you guys number over there. I'll do it
- 18:17Speaker 2: while you wait for free. Nope, barrel very competitive pricing,
- 18:23Speaker 2: very competitive carbon.
- 18:25Speaker 4: Oh yeah, no all that.
- 18:27Speaker 5: So, but like what I'm trying to say is like
- 18:29Speaker 5: even just the additional a little bit of weight, a
- 18:31Speaker 5: little bit of length, it's worth it when it comes
- 18:33Speaker 5: time to pull the trigger.
- 18:34Speaker 2: I tell people if they ask, like they want to
- 18:37Speaker 2: get a new gun, they want to add a rifle
- 18:39Speaker 2: to the collection, I'll say, buy a can, yeah, because
- 18:43Speaker 2: you'll have a new gun. Like it's just experience, yeah,
- 18:49Speaker 2: I mean, just like getting out and putting rounds down range.
- 18:52Speaker 2: Like Sydney used to have a little bit of a Okay,
- 18:55Speaker 2: I'm done with that, but you put the can on
- 18:57Speaker 2: there and it's just like oh yeah, practice away, Oh
- 19:00Speaker 2: yeah for kids.
- 19:03Speaker 5: Kids now in silence or Central just makes it so easy. Website,
- 19:07Speaker 5: the customer service, good folks.
- 19:09Speaker 3: Just do it. Do it all from your house and
- 19:11Speaker 3: then it shows up to your door. Yeah, simple, great.
- 19:13Speaker 2: Well, my hot tip would be to put a can
- 19:16Speaker 2: on your gun, but we've.
- 19:19Speaker 3: Got some other hot tips.
- 19:20Speaker 8: Phil, Oh, that's all.
- 19:36Speaker 2: Hot tip off is where two listeners go head to
- 19:39Speaker 2: head with competing pieces of advice, and after we hear
- 19:42Speaker 2: each tip, uh, the the audience will declare which one
- 19:48Speaker 2: is hotter?
- 19:48Speaker 3: That's correct. I will start a poll in the live chat.
- 19:52Speaker 3: Keep a script.
- 19:53Speaker 2: The script had us making this judgment, but it's up
- 19:56Speaker 2: to you, fair listeners. And this rounds winner is gonna
- 20:00Speaker 2: see if our new I'd rather be line of logo
- 20:02Speaker 2: wear with one shirt and one hoodie of the winners choosing.
- 20:07Speaker 3: Look at this.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Look at this shirt on Corey. Here it says I'd
- 20:09Speaker 2: rather be hunting squirrels.
- 20:11Speaker 3: Great shirt.
- 20:12Speaker 2: Uh, there's another one says I'd rather be hunting huge bucks.
- 20:18Speaker 3: Like so like so pretty cool.
- 20:20Speaker 2: And then one that says I'd rather be trapping beavers,
- 20:24Speaker 2: big beavers, not any big, big, big, big beaver.
- 20:27Speaker 4: Steve had a hand in that, one big old bea.
- 20:30Speaker 2: So the winner will get to choose one shirt and
- 20:32Speaker 2: one hoodie from that line. We're really excited about these
- 20:35Speaker 2: new shirts. They will be on the meat Eater store tomorrow,
- 20:39Speaker 2: January ninth. Now, if you have a hot tip, take
- 20:42Speaker 2: a one minute video on your phone and email it
- 20:45Speaker 2: to radio at the meat eater dot com with the
- 20:47Speaker 2: subject line hot tip off. This week it's a Battle
- 20:51Speaker 2: of the Johns with John Mertz versus John Foley.
- 20:54Speaker 3: Take it away, Phil.
- 20:58Speaker 7: Shot Murtz.
- 21:02Speaker 3: Hey, everybody kiss the season early ice season.
- 21:06Speaker 11: So let's head out there right well, is the ice safe?
- 21:11Speaker 11: Here's my hot tip. We're gonna measure the ice with
- 21:15Speaker 11: our chisel. You're gonna take some electrical tape. I used
- 21:20Speaker 11: white because it stands up better against my blue chisel,
- 21:22Speaker 11: and you're gonna put a stripe at four inches, a
- 21:24Speaker 11: strip at eight inches, and one at twelve inches.
- 21:27Speaker 3: You're gonna measure that.
- 21:28Speaker 11: Off of the shoulder of the chisel here, so that
- 21:31Speaker 11: when you push the chisel through you pull back up
- 21:34Speaker 11: on it, catch the edge of the ice, and then
- 21:36Speaker 11: read off the waterline where it is.
- 21:38Speaker 3: You can see if I've got my tape here.
- 21:40Speaker 11: I've got my four inch stripe that's thick enough for walking,
- 21:44Speaker 11: an eight inch stripe just good to know, and then
- 21:46Speaker 11: a twelve inch stripe where you can feel a little
- 21:48Speaker 11: more comfortable driving a truck on the ice.
- 21:51Speaker 3: So I just broke through there.
- 21:52Speaker 11: I turned the chisel sideways, pull it up so the
- 21:55Speaker 11: shoulder of the chisel hits the bottom of the ice.
- 21:57Speaker 11: I can see the water level is pretty much up
- 21:59Speaker 11: to that first stripe, so we got about four inches Therefore,
- 22:01Speaker 11: were probably good to go.
- 22:03Speaker 3: Because it's four.
- 22:04Speaker 11: Inches here does not necessarily mean that it's four inches
- 22:07Speaker 11: out there.
- 22:07Speaker 3: So keep checking as you go and stay safe out there.
- 22:10Speaker 4: Great editing, John, Yeah, clee, you.
- 22:17Speaker 5: All right?
- 22:18Speaker 3: What's up?
- 22:18Speaker 9: Everybody got a hot tip for you.
- 22:21Speaker 12: This one's been done before, but I haven't seen it.
- 22:23Speaker 9: Done like this.
- 22:24Speaker 12: So this is one of those things that when I
- 22:27Speaker 12: do it, I just kind of thought everybody.
- 22:29Speaker 9: Knew about it.
- 22:30Speaker 12: I know the common way to do it getting the
- 22:33Speaker 12: brain matter out of the skull is with a drill
- 22:36Speaker 12: or a coat hanger or a screwdriver or a stick
- 22:40Speaker 12: which works. But once I figured out this way or
- 22:42Speaker 12: found out this way, I don't do it any other way.
- 22:45Speaker 9: It's pretty quick.
- 22:47Speaker 12: All you need is in airchuck like this. This was
- 22:51Speaker 12: like ten bucks at Harbor Freight. This is something you
- 22:55Speaker 12: can pack with you and take with you on the
- 22:57Speaker 12: road if you want. That's all you have to do
- 22:59Speaker 12: is stop at a maybe a mechanic shop or a
- 23:03Speaker 12: tire shop or somewhere on the side of the road
- 23:05Speaker 12: to get you an airline. This takes longer to talk
- 23:10Speaker 12: about than actually due the bucket's not needed, all right,
- 23:13Speaker 12: you'll see why in a minute.
- 23:14Speaker 9: But you can do this with the trash bag is
- 23:16Speaker 9: put a hole in it.
- 23:18Speaker 12: You stick the air nozzle into the brain cavity, set
- 23:22Speaker 12: it down in there.
- 23:24Speaker 13: Oh, it's almost too amusing.
- 23:29Speaker 9: And that's it. Cleaned it out perfectly.
- 23:33Speaker 14: H See if I can see the after math from.
- 23:35Speaker 12: The bucket here, there's the whole one quick blast of
- 23:39Speaker 12: air and that's it. And my pup is excited because
- 23:43Speaker 12: he'll probably lick up the extra stuff.
- 23:46Speaker 7: Enjoy.
- 23:47Speaker 4: That was good.
- 23:48Speaker 2: That was a good one, both good, both good. I
- 23:51Speaker 2: trusted the guy the ice guy trusted his accent.
- 23:54Speaker 3: That went a long way for me.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Yeah, but I'm not an ice man, so I had
- 23:58Speaker 2: to actually send that to you guys for your thoughts
- 24:01Speaker 2: on how hot it was.
- 24:02Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, Seth, you had a point that nobody's probably
- 24:04Speaker 5: going to be trying to chisel through about a foot
- 24:06Speaker 5: of ice no for checking ice this early season.
- 24:09Speaker 4: I feel like that's a good tip.
- 24:10Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, a couple of whacks on the chisel.
- 24:12Speaker 6: If if you go through, it's probably you know, i'd measure,
- 24:17Speaker 6: but you know, like what two to three good chisels
- 24:20Speaker 6: and if the chisel doesn't go through, you're typically good
- 24:23Speaker 6: to go.
- 24:24Speaker 2: And just a reminder to our audience. Hop in there
- 24:27Speaker 2: and let us know which of those tips is hotter
- 24:31Speaker 2: the pole is running. Uh, you guys, how's what's your
- 24:35Speaker 2: preferred method of extracting or extruding whatever? The proper word
- 24:40Speaker 2: would be brain matter, big stick guy, stick guy.
- 24:44Speaker 5: But recently we had somebody on who put a tent
- 24:48Speaker 5: steak in a drill bit, oh or into a drill
- 24:50Speaker 5: as a bit and just rolled it up in there
- 24:52Speaker 5: and turn it into mash potatoes and then let it
- 24:55Speaker 5: fall out, give it a little rintse but this looks.
- 24:57Speaker 4: Yeah, that's cleaner.
- 24:59Speaker 6: Usually I just boil it with the brain matter in
- 25:01Speaker 6: there and then just cover myself with it when when
- 25:05Speaker 6: I pressure wash it.
- 25:06Speaker 4: Yeah, get a little in your eye.
- 25:07Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:07Speaker 2: I find that if I can do anything with an
- 25:09Speaker 2: air compressor, I'm always looking for new ways to use
- 25:13Speaker 2: my air compressor.
- 25:14Speaker 3: Yeah. It's just a good point everybody.
- 25:17Speaker 2: When child is born, it should be given a small
- 25:19Speaker 2: air compressor and a little air chuck like that.
- 25:22Speaker 4: It's a great toy.
- 25:23Speaker 3: It's a great toy.
- 25:24Speaker 4: Kid loves to play with it.
- 25:25Speaker 2: It's my favorite cleaning instrument. I wish I had a
- 25:28Speaker 2: I wish I had an air compressor, like at every
- 25:30Speaker 2: door to the house to just blow out the little
- 25:33Speaker 2: sills and everything.
- 25:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:34Speaker 4: Man for cleaning out your truck.
- 25:36Speaker 3: But boy, that the bucket is just such a nice touch.
- 25:38Speaker 3: The bucket, the bucket with the hole in it is
- 25:40Speaker 3: a nice touch.
- 25:41Speaker 4: What you're gonna need, I.
- 25:42Speaker 3: Don't you don't get covered in it.
- 25:43Speaker 4: You need that bucket to sit on.
- 25:45Speaker 3: Yeah, there you go.
- 25:46Speaker 2: I like how amused he was that it worked so quock.
- 25:51Speaker 4: His dog was pumped too. That's a tough one to
- 25:53Speaker 4: be honestly.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Yeah, and I'm just gonna end the pull now because
- 25:56Speaker 1: it's the chat agrees with ninety one percent of the vote.
- 26:00Speaker 3: Was kind of an unfair head to head. I felt bad. Yeah,
- 26:04Speaker 3: I liked that one so much. Yeah, John fully wins.
- 26:08Speaker 2: John Foley, Congratulations, John, thank you for playing.
- 26:12Speaker 5: I have a hunch he's gonna want the I'd rather
- 26:15Speaker 5: be hunting big Bucks shirt, but we'll reach out to
- 26:17Speaker 5: you and find out.
- 26:19Speaker 3: Thank you. John.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Alrighty Phil, it's time for a little bit of it.
- 26:24Speaker 3: It's time for listener feed.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Before we do that, would one of you please call
- 26:29Speaker 1: Clay Nuko because he said he was going to hang
- 26:31Speaker 1: out in the waiting room and he's been gone for
- 26:33Speaker 1: about twenty minutes, so I hope everything's good with himcause
- 26:36Speaker 1: he is our next gues.
- 26:36Speaker 4: We'll probably had a mule get out.
- 26:38Speaker 3: We'll be fine. We'll be fine.
- 26:39Speaker 2: We'll just do a little bit of extra audience engagement here.
- 26:43Speaker 4: I'll call him.
- 26:44Speaker 1: Leland asks, how long do you guys screw around with
- 26:48Speaker 1: the firearm that gives y'all zeroing problems. I'm having problems
- 26:51Speaker 1: with one particular gun, but don't want to throw in
- 26:53Speaker 1: the towel. Early you were giving up on a gun
- 26:56Speaker 1: because it's not it's not behaving.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, and no, I would say I would say
- 27:06Speaker 2: there's not really like.
- 27:07Speaker 3: A messing around.
- 27:10Speaker 2: I'm checking things methodically, like I'm I'm putting a different
- 27:15Speaker 2: scope on it, make sure there's no issue with the
- 27:17Speaker 2: scope before I do that. I'm checking the mouts, like
- 27:20Speaker 2: checking the even not just the rings but the rail
- 27:24Speaker 2: as well. I'm checking to see if there's any issues
- 27:28Speaker 2: with stock fitment, to make sure that the stock is
- 27:31Speaker 2: fully seated on like if it's a it's got a
- 27:35Speaker 2: standard like Remington style recoil log I'm making sure that's
- 27:38Speaker 2: seated in there.
- 27:41Speaker 3: Then I'm to make sure everything's torqued, everything's.
- 27:44Speaker 2: Torque to spec, you know, check that'll run a dollar
- 27:47Speaker 2: bill or a couple of sheets like receipt paper between
- 27:51Speaker 2: the barrel and the stock to make sure that that
- 27:53Speaker 2: channel is open and free floated.
- 27:56Speaker 3: And then I don't know.
- 27:58Speaker 2: I mean it depends like is it really bad or
- 28:04Speaker 2: are you looking for incremental improvements. I think there's a
- 28:06Speaker 2: lot of variables there To answer that question.
- 28:09Speaker 3: How many different amos have you tried?
- 28:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean if something's if something's wandering, like if
- 28:15Speaker 2: you if your zero is wandering. It's an issue with
- 28:18Speaker 2: your your scope or your or there's something mechanical. But
- 28:23Speaker 2: if it's just not grouping as as precisely as you'd like,
- 28:29Speaker 2: I would I would start moving around with trying different ammunition.
- 28:33Speaker 3: And all that.
- 28:35Speaker 2: Life's too short to shoot an inaccurate rifle.
- 28:38Speaker 3: So that's true.
- 28:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I think that the sort of the
- 28:43Speaker 2: process of nailing that down really depends on what you're
- 28:47Speaker 2: seeing on paper.
- 28:49Speaker 3: And how much you want to throw, how much money
- 28:52Speaker 3: you want to.
- 28:52Speaker 2: Throw, and is it bedded. Yeah, maybe a good betting job.
- 29:03Speaker 1: Brad Weber, bunny hunter, your name checks out. He would
- 29:06Speaker 1: like me to say that Brad has a group of
- 29:08Speaker 1: friends that gets together to go rabbit hunting, and every
- 29:10Speaker 1: year they're doing it this weekend in northeast Wisconsin.
- 29:13Speaker 3: I love to have a shout out cow, good.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Luck, have fun, enjoy your rabbit hunt.
- 29:20Speaker 3: That sounds fun, Brad and crew.
- 29:23Speaker 2: Best of luck on your gathering of the Hawsson feffer.
- 29:28Speaker 2: I think it's just the hasson the feffer. Is the pepper, well, sure,
- 29:31Speaker 2: hopefully that's maybe on the list he's doing.
- 29:33Speaker 3: I see, bring some pepper.
- 29:35Speaker 4: Sorry, I don't speak.
- 29:37Speaker 1: Chris is wondering the the nitty gritty details of creating
- 29:40Speaker 1: a fleshing beam seth specific wood. Is there a particular
- 29:43Speaker 1: method making a flesh mine?
- 29:46Speaker 6: Mine is a you know that that like half log
- 29:51Speaker 6: siding that you side side houses with. It's like one
- 29:55Speaker 6: side dimensional lumber, the other sides round it. That's all
- 29:58Speaker 6: my beam is is that, And then I tapered it
- 30:01Speaker 6: off on the end to a point.
- 30:02Speaker 3: Sand it, sand it, make it with anything, make it smooth.
- 30:06Speaker 6: Uh, you don't have to, because when you're fleshing, you
- 30:09Speaker 6: just get saturated with with fat.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Oh yes, it's self self greasy.
- 30:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:14Speaker 4: Interesting on a little winter activity.
- 30:16Speaker 3: There you go.
- 30:18Speaker 1: Let's see, we've got a question from Rob. He's asked
- 30:22Speaker 1: if we've had multiple questions in the chat asking me
- 30:24Speaker 1: about online store inventory. Unfortunately, I do not run the story.
- 30:28Speaker 1: It would be a good It would be good for
- 30:29Speaker 1: people to kind of like keep us updated because this
- 30:31Speaker 1: would be a perfect platform to be like, hey, the
- 30:33Speaker 1: stuff's back in stock.
- 30:34Speaker 5: Uh.
- 30:35Speaker 1: Rob is asking about the Gnome T shirts. Most of
- 30:38Speaker 1: them are sold out. We do have two there in stock.
- 30:39Speaker 1: I'm not sure how many what the sizes are there,
- 30:42Speaker 1: but yeah, well we make something like the Gnome T shirts,
- 30:44Speaker 1: we usually make a certain amount as sort of kind
- 30:46Speaker 1: of like a special limited edition thing, especially with the
- 30:49Speaker 1: Gnome because he's doing so much different stuff, so they're
- 30:52Speaker 1: kind of kind of like collectory.
- 30:54Speaker 3: That a lot of stuff.
- 30:57Speaker 4: Yeah, I know.
- 30:57Speaker 5: All I can say is twenty twenty five. Past year
- 31:00Speaker 5: was the year of the Gnome around here, so we
- 31:02Speaker 5: did a new shirt and a new theme every month.
- 31:04Speaker 5: So I don't believe we're.
- 31:05Speaker 4: Doing that this time.
- 31:06Speaker 2: If some catches your eye, jump on it, because especially
- 31:09Speaker 2: with those limited runs, they do sell out.
- 31:12Speaker 3: Yeah, they were popular.
- 31:13Speaker 1: And then we also had a question about the Hot Sauce.
- 31:15Speaker 1: You and me both brother. My bottle's almost gone. I'd
- 31:17Speaker 1: love to get some more. So I cannot give you
- 31:21Speaker 1: an update about when the Hot Sauce will be back in.
- 31:23Speaker 3: Stop, so I apologize.
- 31:25Speaker 1: Let's see here. A question for Randalls is from Evan.
- 31:28Speaker 1: When researching for both the Long Hunters and High Hunters,
- 31:30Speaker 1: did you come across any records of color phase animals
- 31:34Speaker 1: back in the day.
- 31:34Speaker 2: That's a great question. Not that comes to mind, Not
- 31:41Speaker 2: that comes to mind.
- 31:45Speaker 4: Looks like he's a bear hunter.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Yeah, the short answer would be no, but it's interesting.
- 31:50Speaker 2: It wasn't really something that I was paying attention to.
- 31:53Speaker 2: I mean, I feel like correct me if I'm wrong.
- 31:58Speaker 2: But color phase are relatively rare, like in the eastern
- 32:03Speaker 2: half of the country when we're talking about long hunters
- 32:05Speaker 2: and then.
- 32:06Speaker 6: Piebald deer or I don't know what the stat is there,
- 32:11Speaker 6: but it's very rare.
- 32:12Speaker 2: But then those mountain men, they were just real fixated
- 32:18Speaker 2: on Griz. They do describe Griz in a lot of
- 32:20Speaker 2: different ways, like in terms of like the color of
- 32:23Speaker 2: their your coat, whether they're lighter or darker. But no,
- 32:26Speaker 2: I didn't see any like chocolate cinnamon references.
- 32:30Speaker 3: I'm sure.
- 32:31Speaker 2: I'm sure there's a research paper out there with like
- 32:34Speaker 2: historical references to color phase bears. I'm sure someone's done that,
- 32:38Speaker 2: but not, I couldn't point in the right direction.
- 32:42Speaker 1: Cool, we'll do one more for this round of clay
- 32:45Speaker 1: on Clay is on? He perfect, He is waiting. I'll
- 32:47Speaker 1: do one more question that's is from Nick. Question, how
- 32:49Speaker 1: do you determine whether to use a guide service, drop
- 32:52Speaker 1: in or go fully self guided when going to a
- 32:54Speaker 1: new destination On a tag? He says he just drew
- 32:56Speaker 1: an idaho Elk tag and he's trying to decide.
- 33:00Speaker 2: Question for you would be how much money do you
- 33:04Speaker 2: have and where would you like to spend it and experience?
- 33:09Speaker 3: Where do you want to go? Get you a guide?
- 33:14Speaker 3: If you're asking, I mean it.
- 33:16Speaker 2: It depends on are you going on your first elk hunt?
- 33:20Speaker 2: Are you going with anyone who has hunted elk before?
- 33:24Speaker 2: Like I think it's I don't think it's crazy to
- 33:27Speaker 2: go on your first elk hunt without an experienced elk
- 33:29Speaker 2: hunter and go unguided.
- 33:34Speaker 3: Yourself. You're going to learn a lot.
- 33:36Speaker 5: Yeah, that's true, but you're gonna and you're gonna make
- 33:39Speaker 5: a lot of failures.
- 33:40Speaker 2: If you're in a If you're in a position life
- 33:43Speaker 2: financially speaking to UH go guided, and you have a
- 33:49Speaker 2: guide that has good references, and you think we'll be
- 33:52Speaker 2: able to really teach you about hunting the western landscape,
- 33:56Speaker 2: I'd certainly take advantage of it, especially if it's like
- 33:59Speaker 2: something that you're comfortable spending that money.
- 34:02Speaker 3: Yeah, do your research.
- 34:03Speaker 2: I think a drop camp, generally speaking, I would be
- 34:07Speaker 2: leery of because it's sort of you're paying for something
- 34:15Speaker 2: and then you don't have that person there with you
- 34:18Speaker 2: to share their experience. And ultimately, like if you do
- 34:23Speaker 2: it DIY. You know, I went to this spot because
- 34:26Speaker 2: I wanted to go there versus I just got dropped
- 34:29Speaker 2: off there, because I feel like a drop camp can
- 34:33Speaker 2: make you question your decision making if you aren't seeing
- 34:36Speaker 2: or make you question the outfitter if you aren't seeing
- 34:38Speaker 2: animals see.
- 34:39Speaker 6: And if you do a DIY, you can always bail
- 34:41Speaker 6: and go to a different spot, right.
- 34:43Speaker 2: And you can hunt that place again for years to
- 34:46Speaker 2: come without you know, feeling like that, because that's the
- 34:48Speaker 2: other thing, is like if an outfitter takes you somewhere
- 34:51Speaker 2: and you hunt it, you don't want to go back
- 34:53Speaker 2: in there on your own the.
- 34:54Speaker 3: Next year because it's a bad Yeah, yeah, it's a
- 34:56Speaker 3: no no.
- 34:57Speaker 5: Most outfitters are going to give you a lot of
- 34:59Speaker 5: pointers for that a though. So there we're going to
- 35:01Speaker 5: have a massive leg up doing that.
- 35:04Speaker 1: And yeah, Nick says no comment about the finances because
- 35:06Speaker 1: his wife.
- 35:06Speaker 3: May be reading for you. Nick, good for you. Oh
- 35:10Speaker 3: look at the hot tip off up there. You go, well, yeah,
- 35:13Speaker 3: good luck. I hope you have a hope.
- 35:15Speaker 2: It sounds like he drew maybe uh this week in
- 35:19Speaker 2: the Idaho and un resident drawn might be planning his fall,
- 35:22Speaker 2: so hope that works out for you.
- 35:25Speaker 3: Joining us.
- 35:26Speaker 2: Next on the line is a man who needs no introduction.
- 35:29Speaker 2: You love him, We love him. He's a storyteller, he's
- 35:32Speaker 2: a musician, and black Bears tremble at the mere mention
- 35:36Speaker 2: of his name. Mister Clay nukeom, Hey, everybody, Clay, welcome
- 35:41Speaker 2: to the show.
- 35:43Speaker 3: I feel like we should clap. Yeah, I know. Do
- 35:46Speaker 3: we have a round of applause? We can do?
- 35:48Speaker 12: Phil?
- 35:48Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, I might. Here we go, hold on?
- 35:51Speaker 1: Oh there were he's just glistening with with with big
- 35:56Speaker 1: white tail.
- 35:57Speaker 3: Yeah, you can just see it on him.
- 35:58Speaker 4: What do you kill a big old bucker?
- 35:59Speaker 2: So well, before we get into that, buck, Clay, I
- 36:02Speaker 2: feel like I just said goodbye to you in a
- 36:05Speaker 2: hotel hallway at eleven PM in Dallas, Texas.
- 36:10Speaker 14: That happened. We embraced, we did.
- 36:12Speaker 2: I said I love you, brother, and then I gave
- 36:15Speaker 2: you a big hug and we parted ways. Clay, how
- 36:18Speaker 2: have you been? How you recovered from the tour yet?
- 36:22Speaker 3: Man?
- 36:23Speaker 14: The tour was so much fun.
- 36:25Speaker 13: I mean it was hard to recover from it because
- 36:27Speaker 13: like you come back and I mean I love everything
- 36:31Speaker 13: about where I live, but the tour is like seven
- 36:37Speaker 13: days of just a pure twenty four.
- 36:40Speaker 14: Hour day fun.
- 36:41Speaker 13: You know, we're with well, especially for me and Brent
- 36:44Speaker 13: who aren't in Montana and don't see a lot of people.
- 36:48Speaker 13: You know, we're kind of isolated to be with the crew,
- 36:52Speaker 13: to be with you and Steve and Jiannis and all
- 36:55Speaker 13: the other people that were there that weren't on stage.
- 36:57Speaker 14: Just a ton of fun.
- 36:58Speaker 13: And then you know, every night you're going to these
- 37:02Speaker 13: events where clearly it's stacked with people who are excited
- 37:06Speaker 13: to be there, excited about meat Eater.
- 37:09Speaker 14: And we had a great time.
- 37:11Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I loved it.
- 37:13Speaker 2: And I think to your last point, you know, every
- 37:16Speaker 2: now and then people say like, oh, this must be
- 37:20Speaker 2: born for you doing the same thing every night. But
- 37:22Speaker 2: like it's actually very meaningful to hear from people that
- 37:27Speaker 2: they're excited about the stuff that we do, because like
- 37:30Speaker 2: right now we're sitting in this podcast studio and then
- 37:34Speaker 2: we'll go on.
- 37:34Speaker 3: About our day.
- 37:35Speaker 2: But it's really cool to go out there and meet
- 37:36Speaker 2: people and hear their stories of how they got into
- 37:39Speaker 2: hunting and sort of how meat Eater stuff fits into
- 37:43Speaker 2: their life or shape their experiences. So I really enjoyed that,
- 37:47Speaker 2: and it doesn't get old for me.
- 37:48Speaker 1: Clay was it was it hard having to play with
- 37:51Speaker 1: amateurs and hacks like Evan Felker to accompany you for
- 37:55Speaker 1: the opening song after having me accompany you for the
- 37:59Speaker 1: last tour.
- 38:00Speaker 13: Phil let me let me start off. I said, you
- 38:03Speaker 13: were greatly missed. Holy yeah I.
- 38:07Speaker 8: Was.
- 38:09Speaker 13: I was like, when I heard you weren't coming, I
- 38:11Speaker 13: was like, what, Phil's not coming? I mean Phil like
- 38:15Speaker 13: made you know, our music act last year with his harmonica.
- 38:19Speaker 14: Just unreal.
- 38:20Speaker 13: And then so there was no other musicians traveling with us,
- 38:25Speaker 13: and and so we did have h read bargaineer of
- 38:31Speaker 13: Reed's piano news. He was with me three nights.
- 38:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:35Speaker 1: I watched the videos of that, and he killed it.
- 38:36Speaker 1: I got I got little pangs of jealousy watching him
- 38:39Speaker 1: up there with you.
- 38:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:39Speaker 2: He's great, super fun guy. Great to finally meet him.
- 38:43Speaker 14: He saved the day. I mean, it was.
- 38:45Speaker 13: It's so hard for someone who doesn't play a lot
- 38:48Speaker 13: of live music or any to speak of, to just
- 38:51Speaker 13: step up six nights in a row in front of
- 38:54Speaker 13: a big.
- 38:54Speaker 14: Crowd and play. I mean, it is the challenge of
- 38:56Speaker 14: my life.
- 38:57Speaker 13: I tell people a lot of things that I do
- 38:59Speaker 13: at my age I'm comfortable with live music.
- 39:03Speaker 14: I love it.
- 39:03Speaker 13: It's like exhilarating, but I am not comfortable at all.
- 39:08Speaker 13: And so playing with Evan Felker, Holy cow, it was
- 39:12Speaker 13: like I was nervous as a cat. I actually almost
- 39:17Speaker 13: backed out at the because we'd never played together.
- 39:21Speaker 3: You know.
- 39:22Speaker 13: He gets there a little bit before the show, and
- 39:23Speaker 13: we start playing, and I recognize that my strum pattern
- 39:27Speaker 13: is different than the waltz of the bird Hunter. The
- 39:31Speaker 13: strum pattern of a of a of the bird Hunter
- 39:34Speaker 13: is different than me. And I'm not a good enough
- 39:36Speaker 13: musician to really just compensate on the fly and be like, oh, yeah,
- 39:39Speaker 13: I got it. And so I actually just said we
- 39:43Speaker 13: practiced one time, and I was like, Evan, man, these
- 39:47Speaker 13: people are they would love to see you play this.
- 39:49Speaker 13: Why don't you just play it by yourself? And so
- 39:52Speaker 13: we kind of decided that he was just going to open.
- 39:54Speaker 3: Up and then and then Steve got it.
- 39:58Speaker 13: Yeah yeah, and and you know, I appreciore what I mean,
- 40:02Speaker 13: I was kind of surprised, but yeah, Steve came in
- 40:05Speaker 13: and he was like already, and I'm like, man.
- 40:06Speaker 14: Evan's just gonna do it.
- 40:08Speaker 13: I said, I think I'm gonna mess the thing up
- 40:10Speaker 13: if I play with him, and Steve was like.
- 40:12Speaker 14: No way, you gotta get out there, man, you and
- 40:14Speaker 14: you and Evan got to play. And so oh, I'm
- 40:17Speaker 14: so glad I did.
- 40:18Speaker 2: Holy and that was And that was at the Fayetteville show,
- 40:21Speaker 2: which was kind of your your home crowd too, which
- 40:24Speaker 2: probably made it extra special.
- 40:26Speaker 14: Man, it was so special.
- 40:28Speaker 13: Of all the shows, I mean, there were the fail
- 40:33Speaker 13: the Fatal show sold out completely, and I mean they
- 40:38Speaker 13: were they were all great shows with great people.
- 40:41Speaker 14: So I don't I don't want to say it was
- 40:43Speaker 14: the best, but maybe.
- 40:48Speaker 3: The best.
- 40:49Speaker 14: Well, I mean, we had Evan Felker there for crying
- 40:51Speaker 14: out like.
- 40:52Speaker 2: It was a very warm reception from the the well,
- 40:56Speaker 2: the Newcomb clan welcomed us into their home for a
- 40:59Speaker 2: lovely lunch and then yeah, it was it was fun
- 41:02Speaker 2: that it just felt like an auditorium full of friends
- 41:05Speaker 2: and family.
- 41:06Speaker 13: Oh man, it was so meaningful that we came here
- 41:08Speaker 13: just to give back to the community.
- 41:11Speaker 14: You know.
- 41:12Speaker 13: I wish we could have let them all in for free,
- 41:14Speaker 13: you know. So it was a ton of fun, ton
- 41:17Speaker 13: of fun.
- 41:18Speaker 2: Yeah, Now, Clay, I could relive our our rock star days,
- 41:22Speaker 2: our rock star lifestyle, forever, as you know. But we
- 41:27Speaker 2: brought you here today because you have some very exciting
- 41:30Speaker 2: news in your life and folks haven't seen it on Instagram.
- 41:34Speaker 2: You got a big old buck just recently. Can you
- 41:36Speaker 2: tell us a little bit about that?
- 41:38Speaker 3: Man?
- 41:39Speaker 13: On on January the fourth, well, okay, Christmas Day, a
- 41:44Speaker 13: buck on a place that I have access to hunt
- 41:49Speaker 13: showed up and the but it was one of those
- 41:52Speaker 13: pictures that within seconds I was texting it to my
- 41:57Speaker 13: father in law, who I was staying close touch with
- 41:59Speaker 13: about deer hunting a couple other people and was just gagging.
- 42:03Speaker 14: Over this deer.
- 42:04Speaker 13: I mean, it's the biggest deer that I've seen on
- 42:06Speaker 13: camera in a long long time. And uh, I texted
- 42:09Speaker 13: it to one of my friends who happens to be
- 42:11Speaker 13: a Navy pilot stationed in Hawaiian named Forrest Teeter, and
- 42:15Speaker 13: he goes, Jimmy Christmas.
- 42:17Speaker 14: You know, it was Christmas night. I texted him and
- 42:21Speaker 14: h and I was like, this buck will be named
- 42:23Speaker 14: Jimmy Christmas.
- 42:25Speaker 3: That's cool.
- 42:26Speaker 13: And the deer just had giant tying length and uh,
- 42:32Speaker 13: he was super sporadic. I mean I'm hunting over in
- 42:35Speaker 13: the state. Well, I killed the deer in Oklahoma. I
- 42:38Speaker 13: didn't just like anybody that knows anything about this part
- 42:42Speaker 13: of the world would know that, because I said that,
- 42:44Speaker 13: I killed it over supplemental feed and some feeding a
- 42:47Speaker 13: little bit. And this deer was very sporadic, and it's
- 42:52Speaker 13: very difficult to kill a big deer, a specific big deer.
- 42:56Speaker 14: Over any kind of supplemental feed.
- 42:57Speaker 13: I don't I don't care who you are, and it's
- 43:00Speaker 13: a ton of fun. But this deer was super sporadic,
- 43:03Speaker 13: came in the daytime just a couple of times, had
- 43:06Speaker 13: some time, which was rare, and I was able to
- 43:09Speaker 13: hunt four and a half days and finally on January
- 43:14Speaker 13: the fourth, I don't.
- 43:15Speaker 14: Think he'll fit in the frame of my camera. My
- 43:18Speaker 14: camera's not big enough. I'm gonna have to back up
- 43:20Speaker 14: a little bit.
- 43:21Speaker 3: Only smokes. Oh, it almost touches in the middle.
- 43:26Speaker 4: Looks like a mule deer.
- 43:28Speaker 13: But UH killed that deer, unbelieved twenty two yards with
- 43:34Speaker 13: bow and the characteristics of the rack. I mean, I'm
- 43:38Speaker 13: an official Boon and crocket scorer, so I mean I
- 43:41Speaker 13: I truly.
- 43:43Speaker 9: Value a beautiful.
- 43:45Speaker 14: This deer is only fourteen and a half inches.
- 43:47Speaker 13: Wide, narrow buck, but he has a G two that's
- 43:52Speaker 13: fourteen and six eight inches long.
- 43:54Speaker 14: Wow, I mean that's awesome, just when.
- 43:58Speaker 13: You're analyzing the white tails rack. I mean that there's
- 44:02Speaker 13: there's a very few deer that have a time over
- 44:05Speaker 13: fourteen inches, you know, So I mean just a just
- 44:08Speaker 13: a stud man. And yeah, he's got a split split
- 44:12Speaker 13: G two And oh, I mean I still can't believe
- 44:16Speaker 13: I killed that deer.
- 44:17Speaker 14: I'm still on cloud nine.
- 44:19Speaker 3: Very cool, very cool.
- 44:21Speaker 14: Deer fell.
- 44:21Speaker 13: You see the photo up there right now, Yeah, deer
- 44:24Speaker 13: fell right there, like right.
- 44:26Speaker 14: I didn't move that deer.
- 44:27Speaker 13: I just I just kind of re situated him about
- 44:30Speaker 13: six inches, fell right at the base of this big
- 44:33Speaker 13: rocky bluff.
- 44:34Speaker 3: Very cool.
- 44:35Speaker 14: Just a phenomenal deal man.
- 44:38Speaker 3: Yeah, he does.
- 44:39Speaker 2: Like if I glanced at that photo and I just
- 44:42Speaker 2: the only thing I looked at was where his antler
- 44:44Speaker 2: tips are and where the top of his head are,
- 44:45Speaker 2: I'd guess it's some mule deer.
- 44:47Speaker 3: Yeah you're just so tall.
- 44:49Speaker 4: Yeah, Yeah, he's just a dandy.
- 44:51Speaker 3: Why is that your biggest buck? You know what?
- 44:54Speaker 14: I would have swore that it was.
- 44:56Speaker 13: I mean I actually sent pictures to people, was like,
- 45:00Speaker 13: this is my biggest buck.
- 45:01Speaker 14: But when wet.
- 45:02Speaker 13: When we scored it, it wasn't, which that's a good
- 45:05Speaker 13: thing when you had a deer from years ago that
- 45:08Speaker 13: was bigger. The deer scored one sixty two and seven eights. Wow,
- 45:14Speaker 13: and so and I I killed a deer years ago
- 45:17Speaker 13: a little bigger than that, but it's definitely the biggest
- 45:22Speaker 13: deer I've killed in eighteen years.
- 45:24Speaker 14: You know.
- 45:24Speaker 2: Well, it looks like you were tent camping there too,
- 45:27Speaker 2: which I always think. I always think, if you want
- 45:30Speaker 2: to crank it up to like eleven on making a
- 45:33Speaker 2: hunt memorable, you sleep in a tent.
- 45:37Speaker 13: Man the place I'm hunting over there as so cool
- 45:40Speaker 13: because I mean there's no there's nowhere to stay. We
- 45:45Speaker 13: tent we tent camp.
- 45:46Speaker 3: We'll go over there. Very cool.
- 45:48Speaker 14: Yeah, that's all awesome.
- 45:50Speaker 13: And I was really by myself. I was just hunting.
- 45:54Speaker 13: That was kind of a unique experience. Usually there's somebody
- 45:58Speaker 13: that I'm hunting with or or I'm able to bring.
- 46:00Speaker 14: A deer home, yeah, share it with the family.
- 46:03Speaker 13: Uh, it was kind of I mean I was solo
- 46:06Speaker 13: camping the whole time, which which was unique and uh,
- 46:11Speaker 13: but when I did kill the deer there, I did
- 46:14Speaker 13: have a buddy over in that part of the world.
- 46:17Speaker 13: Alvin a good friend of mine that came and helped
- 46:19Speaker 13: me drag it out and kind of celebrated with me.
- 46:22Speaker 3: So that was very cool.
- 46:25Speaker 2: And uh, your son Bear also killed a real nice
- 46:29Speaker 2: buck this fall, so you were telling us earlier. He
- 46:33Speaker 2: got to be the sort of the big big man
- 46:36Speaker 2: on the block for about six weeks.
- 46:39Speaker 14: Yeah. Yeah, it's funny that, you know, when it rains,
- 46:42Speaker 14: it pours.
- 46:43Speaker 3: Yeah, no, it was.
- 46:45Speaker 13: It was Bear killed a deer that scored one fifty
- 46:48Speaker 13: four and I was here in Arkansas, which is major.
- 46:52Speaker 14: I mean, you know, like a.
- 46:55Speaker 13: I would say, a once in a lifetime type deer
- 46:57Speaker 13: for here. I mean, they they grow him bigger and
- 46:59Speaker 13: I figure he'll kill bigger one one day here, but
- 47:02Speaker 13: monster deer, and uh yeah, I couldn't let him stay
- 47:05Speaker 13: on top.
- 47:06Speaker 14: For long, you know.
- 47:12Speaker 13: Uh no, I almost wished it scored one fifty three,
- 47:15Speaker 13: but he didn't care.
- 47:16Speaker 14: We were not competitive like that.
- 47:18Speaker 13: He was so excited that this year, and I was
- 47:22Speaker 13: so excited for his deer.
- 47:23Speaker 3: So well, it's great.
- 47:25Speaker 2: Yeah, Clay, we appreciate you joining us, and you guys
- 47:29Speaker 2: must be doing something right over there. You got it's
- 47:32Speaker 2: been been a good fall for you guys. So, uh,
- 47:36Speaker 2: you have anything else lined up? Or is that your
- 47:38Speaker 2: last tag for the season.
- 47:40Speaker 14: Well, we're actually going back over there.
- 47:45Speaker 3: Too.
- 47:45Speaker 13: I'm gonna try to kill a dough and maybe a hog.
- 47:49Speaker 13: We're gonna we're gonna go back over there in the.
- 47:51Speaker 14: Next couple of days. Got a buck tag.
- 47:53Speaker 3: Very cool, so cool.
- 47:55Speaker 2: Good luck man, Yeah, Well, good luck to Clay. It's
- 47:58Speaker 2: always a real pleasure to see you. And uh, hopefully
- 48:01Speaker 2: our pazz will cross here before too long.
- 48:04Speaker 14: Great to see all of you, Seth, Corey, doctor Randall.
- 48:07Speaker 3: Still good seeing you, Clay. Good luck over there.
- 48:10Speaker 4: Take care of that hair brother.
- 48:12Speaker 14: All right, takes a lot more work than you think
- 48:15Speaker 14: for Clay.
- 48:17Speaker 2: We can share some styling tips next time you're in town.
- 48:20Speaker 14: Next time I need some tips for you.
- 48:22Speaker 3: Randall.
- 48:23Speaker 2: You're getting there, man, it looks good. It's real good.
- 48:26Speaker 4: Called a haircut.
- 48:31Speaker 14: I told you.
- 48:32Speaker 13: My sign off comment will be I told Brent Reeves
- 48:35Speaker 13: that I'll get a haircut as soon as he starts
- 48:38Speaker 13: hunting a plot coon hound.
- 48:41Speaker 2: Well, based on the conversations that I listened to over
- 48:43Speaker 2: on the bus, that's not happening anytime soon, So.
- 48:47Speaker 3: You better get yourself some hair ties. Clay, you're just.
- 48:50Speaker 14: Gonna have to be embarrassed of your friend for a while.
- 48:54Speaker 3: All right, we'll see you, Clay. Thank you again.
- 48:58Speaker 2: Gosh, I love that guy.
- 49:00Speaker 3: Oh he's the best. It's a gem. I almost feel
- 49:04Speaker 3: like we should just end the show there.
- 49:06Speaker 2: But we've got another great segment we're Our next segment is.
- 49:10Speaker 7: The Price is Right.
- 49:13Speaker 1: He It comes from Bozeman, Montana Media Radio's most exciting
- 49:19Speaker 1: fifteen minutes.
- 49:20Speaker 7: It's the Prices Right Seth Morris, come on down, Calkins.
- 49:31Speaker 1: You're the first two and only contestants on the.
- 49:33Speaker 7: Media radios The Price.
- 49:35Speaker 6: Is Right.
- 49:37Speaker 1: Now, here's your host, Randall william.
- 49:44Speaker 3: Now, this game's real simple.
- 49:46Speaker 2: Phil's gonna tell you about a product from the vat
- 49:48Speaker 2: Eater universe, and you need to guess its price. The
- 49:51Speaker 2: player with the closest answer without going over will be
- 49:54Speaker 2: declared the winner. If both players go over, you'll both
- 49:58Speaker 2: be told to try again, and the chat should play
- 50:00Speaker 2: along as well, because whoever has the closed answer is
- 50:03Speaker 2: gonna get a real, real nice shout out from Phil.
- 50:07Speaker 3: All Right, we've.
- 50:08Speaker 2: Got three exciting products for today's show. Phil, why don't
- 50:12Speaker 2: you tell us about the first item up forbid.
- 50:16Speaker 3: Clay's boss. Unfortunately not.
- 50:19Speaker 1: It's never too early to start planning next year's holiday surprise.
- 50:23Speaker 3: What is that? And what better way to.
- 50:25Speaker 1: Tell your loved ones exactly how you really feel about
- 50:27Speaker 1: them than with a genuine deer scrotum Christmas ornament. That's right,
- 50:32Speaker 1: actual deer balls. A pair of genuine buck nuggets that
- 50:36Speaker 1: have been meticulously preserved and transformed into tasteful holiday decor
- 50:40Speaker 1: comes ready to hang just like it did between the
- 50:43Speaker 1: rear legs of a big old Arkansas white tail. Perfect
- 50:45Speaker 1: for the outdoorsman who appreciates that every part of the
- 50:48Speaker 1: deer deserves honor, including especially Bambi's family jewels. This gives
- 50:53Speaker 1: the old adage waste not want not a whole new meaning.
- 50:58Speaker 3: Deck the halls with buff ball.
- 51:00Speaker 2: How much does it get to cost to hang a
- 51:02Speaker 2: pair of buck nuts on your tree?
- 51:03Speaker 4: Get one set of nuts like one scrowed them?
- 51:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's just per scrote You'll get a
- 51:09Speaker 2: pair in.
- 51:10Speaker 3: The in the satchel.
- 51:11Speaker 5: That's brilliant, really yeah, and then after Christmas you can
- 51:14Speaker 5: hang him from the back of your truck afterwards.
- 51:16Speaker 2: I'll share this, uh, I'll share this guy's contact info. Okay, yeah,
- 51:20Speaker 2: with these marketing them on Facebook Facebook?
- 51:23Speaker 3: Huh a uh helps me?
- 51:26Speaker 6: No?
- 51:28Speaker 3: Arkansas? Oh really? Yeah?
- 51:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I was looking for weird stuff on Facebook marketplace.
- 51:34Speaker 2: They said, why don't we begin in Arkansas?
- 51:36Speaker 3: I wonder where he gets all his buckscrows at? I
- 51:39Speaker 3: don't know. The Nuke family could probably help him with
- 51:41Speaker 3: a few. Yeah, that's true.
- 51:43Speaker 4: Man down south?
- 51:45Speaker 3: Are you still thinking?
- 51:46Speaker 4: I guess I'm done thinking for the day.
- 51:48Speaker 2: Alrighty, Seth, your answer is thirty seven fifty Wow, Corey,
- 51:57Speaker 2: your answer was I don't know nine.
- 52:00Speaker 3: Oh wow, wildly different. Phil, Well, the actual price of
- 52:06Speaker 3: the item without.
- 52:07Speaker 2: God, Well, I didn't write down the price of myself,
- 52:09Speaker 2: so I'm gonna rely on you to judge this.
- 52:11Speaker 1: The price of the ornament is thirty dollars, making Corey
- 52:15Speaker 1: our winner.
- 52:15Speaker 3: Of the round.
- 52:16Speaker 1: If we're going with the rules of this game show,
- 52:19Speaker 1: yeah we should.
- 52:19Speaker 3: You can't bust.
- 52:24Speaker 7: Phil who's closest to the chat there.
- 52:27Speaker 3: We had a couple of people here.
- 52:28Speaker 1: We had pop A medic guests twenty nine to ninety nine,
- 52:31Speaker 1: Absolute Mechanical Solutions guests twenty nine. I love that might
- 52:34Speaker 1: have been a couple more in there as well.
- 52:35Speaker 3: Oh love that, Love that Phil. What's next?
- 52:38Speaker 9: What's next?
- 52:39Speaker 3: Up?
- 52:39Speaker 7: Frouction?
- 52:40Speaker 3: Today? Forgot? You can't go over?
- 52:45Speaker 1: Let's see, it's a full case of docs catfish dip bait,
- 52:48Speaker 1: extra stiff blood added. That's four glorious gallons of the
- 52:52Speaker 1: most ungodly smelling substance known to mankind. We're talking about
- 52:55Speaker 1: a concoction so pungent, so magnificently revolting that it makes
- 53:00Speaker 1: the boat launch vault toilet smell like a Yankee candle.
- 53:03Speaker 1: And not only is this stuff strong, it's got stayin power.
- 53:06Speaker 1: Your wife will make you sleep in the garage. This
- 53:08Speaker 1: will permanently decrease the resale value of your truck. Your
- 53:11Speaker 1: neighbors will call the hoa thinking something died in your yard,
- 53:14Speaker 1: and they're not wrong, because something did die and Dot
- 53:17Speaker 1: cooked it into catfish crack cocaine. Four gallons means you'll
- 53:20Speaker 1: have enough to stink up every river in the county.
- 53:22Speaker 1: Ducks catfish dip bait. I'm gonna restart there. Ducks catfish
- 53:28Speaker 1: dip bait because of catching old mister whiskers means smelling
- 53:31Speaker 1: like you crawled out of a swamp monster's colon.
- 53:34Speaker 7: Then By god, you better be all in.
- 53:38Speaker 6: Now.
- 53:39Speaker 2: I'm seeing some guesses in the chat here, and I
- 53:41Speaker 2: want to reiterate a point in that reath.
- 53:43Speaker 7: This is four gallons. Hey, I saw twelve ounces.
- 53:46Speaker 3: Oh yeah, picture, Yeah, this is fourals. Yeah you see that.
- 53:51Speaker 3: You see that little thing.
- 53:52Speaker 2: You think you're not getting a lot of stink, but
- 53:54Speaker 2: we're talking about four gallons.
- 53:55Speaker 3: That's a full case. So think about how much.
- 53:57Speaker 2: A gallon of stink bait would cost and then multiply
- 54:01Speaker 2: it by four.
- 54:02Speaker 4: That's been a serious angler, isn't there.
- 54:04Speaker 1: We had our producer Jake chime in in the chat
- 54:06Speaker 1: and say, waste nut, wanting nut.
- 54:11Speaker 3: Solid Jake very Oh that's good, that's good man.
- 54:15Speaker 4: What does the cost? Yeah, careful, don't go over.
- 54:25Speaker 2: I mean the price of everything's going up these days. Yeah,
- 54:28Speaker 2: looks like I think eddy stink bits no exception.
- 54:32Speaker 4: I think you're trying to help them.
- 54:34Speaker 2: They make a worm ulce you're dunk in and then
- 54:36Speaker 2: the the scent milks off the worm.
- 54:39Speaker 4: Wow, I you need to get some of these.
- 54:41Speaker 2: You guys got your answers there, Yeah, let's roll. Seth
- 54:45Speaker 2: Morris sixty five dollars, Corey Culkins is seventy five dollars.
- 54:51Speaker 1: Oh well, with a price of one hundred and eighty
- 54:54Speaker 1: seven dollars. Our winner again is Corey Coulkin's.
- 54:59Speaker 6: Dang.
- 55:00Speaker 2: We could end it there with the Seth Morris or
- 55:03Speaker 2: Coreykalkin's victory, But Phil, we've got one more prize.
- 55:09Speaker 3: We sure do, Randall.
- 55:10Speaker 1: It's portable heating hunting seat, tree stand hunting heating seat,
- 55:14Speaker 1: USB comfort foldable heating seat from Timu. That's right, the
- 55:18Speaker 1: same company that brings you three dollar electronics and designer
- 55:21Speaker 1: handbags held together by prayers and glue is now in
- 55:24Speaker 1: the business of putting lithium batteries directly beneath your most
- 55:27Speaker 1: precious ass ets. Why suffer through cold mornings in your
- 55:31Speaker 1: tree stand with non incendiary insulation when you could be
- 55:34Speaker 1: sitting on a potentially combustible device manufactured by the lowest bidder.
- 55:37Speaker 1: Just crank this bad boy up to its high setting
- 55:40Speaker 1: of one hundred and forty nine degrees fahrenheiten see what happens.
- 55:43Speaker 1: Features include a battery pack of mysterious origin, heating elements
- 55:47Speaker 1: that could legally be used in residential construction, and instructions
- 55:50Speaker 1: that have been jammed through a free translation app. If
- 55:52Speaker 1: you've ever driven past a burnt up mobile home and
- 55:54Speaker 1: thought that would make a hell of a deer blind?
- 55:56Speaker 1: Your dreams are one trans Pacific shipping container away from reality.
- 56:01Speaker 1: That was rand were all good?
- 56:04Speaker 3: That was my favorite?
- 56:06Speaker 7: Who wrote that?
- 56:07Speaker 4: Is this all Randall? Yeah?
- 56:09Speaker 2: Bill, you're I've been shopping on tm a lot. There's
- 56:12Speaker 2: Team Wu's got excavators for sale.
- 56:13Speaker 4: I'm really interested in now they sell everything.
- 56:16Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, oh yeah, they're really.
- 56:17Speaker 4: Trying hard on the social media. Wow, so this has
- 56:20Speaker 4: gotta be dirt cheap.
- 56:23Speaker 2: I like how ordinarily, you know, you see heat represented
- 56:28Speaker 2: by like wavy red lines, but in that one they
- 56:32Speaker 2: have orange arrows that look like flames.
- 56:37Speaker 3: I forgot to mention.
- 56:38Speaker 1: The person in the chat who got it closest was
- 56:41Speaker 1: Ja Palermo eighty four. I think that was the closest
- 56:45Speaker 1: without going over but not positive.
- 56:47Speaker 3: That's a catch.
- 56:49Speaker 2: Did did we say old mister whiskers in that caffish bait?
- 56:54Speaker 3: Read? Yes we did? Okay, good, I wanted to put that.
- 56:57Speaker 4: And this is the price on Timu.
- 56:59Speaker 2: This is a price on the TMU price yep.
- 57:02Speaker 4: Okay, it's gonna be cheap.
- 57:06Speaker 3: Oh it is.
- 57:08Speaker 6: It's an electronic you know, okay Withian batteries too scary.
- 57:15Speaker 2: You guys ready, yep, flip them over. Cory says eleven dollars.
- 57:19Speaker 2: Set says one dollar. That's the Tamu man. But unfortunately,
- 57:27Speaker 2: with a.
- 57:27Speaker 1: Clean sweep and a price of eighteen dollars and forty cents,
- 57:31Speaker 1: our winner today is Corey Kalkin.
- 57:35Speaker 2: I know where your head was at, and I think
- 57:37Speaker 2: that was the smart approach.
- 57:38Speaker 3: I was hoping cor was gonna go over.
- 57:39Speaker 4: We'll have a sale soon.
- 57:41Speaker 3: Phil, Do we have a Do we have anyone nailed
- 57:43Speaker 3: at in the chat?
- 57:43Speaker 1: We had a couple of people guess, I guess seventeen
- 57:45Speaker 1: ninety nine, there might have been.
- 57:47Speaker 3: I think it was probably the closest without going over.
- 57:49Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, well, gosh, that's fun.
- 57:53Speaker 3: I wish.
- 57:53Speaker 2: I wish my entire job here was just finding weird
- 57:58Speaker 2: stuff on the internet and writing weird stuff about it.
- 58:02Speaker 2: But unfortunately there's other things they require me to do.
- 58:06Speaker 2: That brings us to the end of the show. But
- 58:10Speaker 2: we have some time for a little more listener feedback.
- 58:13Speaker 2: If folks managed to get any questions.
- 58:15Speaker 1: We do, yeah, yeah, feel free to I don't have
- 58:18Speaker 1: a whole lot flagged right now. Also, get some questions
- 58:20Speaker 1: in and no matter how terrible and a name they are,
- 58:24Speaker 1: they might get read on the show. Let's see Jake said, Phil,
- 58:28Speaker 1: was it you that said on Trivia yesterday that you
- 58:30Speaker 1: didn't like vinegar barbecue sauce? I would never say that
- 58:33Speaker 1: because vinegar forward barbecue sauce is my favorite. I love
- 58:36Speaker 1: that tang. Give me the tang like tang over sweet.
- 58:40Speaker 1: I don't remember who said that, but someone was really
- 58:42Speaker 1: pushing ketchup? Is that seth?
- 58:44Speaker 5: No?
- 58:44Speaker 3: I like? I'm with you, Phil, Okay, I like.
- 58:46Speaker 2: It all right on the only thing I don't really
- 58:49Speaker 2: like that much is Alabama white barbecue sauce. Oh, it's
- 58:55Speaker 2: not like an everyday.
- 58:56Speaker 3: Thing for me, but every nap sauce? Is that like
- 58:58Speaker 3: another a couple times a year.
- 59:00Speaker 2: I'll eat like a half chicken with that, but it's
- 59:03Speaker 2: not like a staple of the pantry.
- 59:04Speaker 1: I agree, U Shanaya sas. My husband and I love
- 59:08Speaker 1: watching your guys at Trivia show. We are currently headed
- 59:10Speaker 1: to Colorado from Wisconsin to hum buffalo with a suppressor. Great,
- 59:13Speaker 1: what's your favorite thing to make with buffalo?
- 59:16Speaker 3: Mmm?
- 59:18Speaker 1: Randall, you've got some recent experience in this.
- 59:20Speaker 2: Well, the short answer is everything.
- 59:26Speaker 3: The pooey.
- 59:27Speaker 2: We My least favorite thing to eat is tapooy.
- 59:32Speaker 3: Man.
- 59:33Speaker 2: I think the first thing we made with the buffalo
- 59:35Speaker 2: was we did uh we made some tartar with the
- 59:41Speaker 2: with the heart, and then uh, yeah, I mean burgers.
- 59:49Speaker 3: We've eaten a lot of burgers.
- 59:50Speaker 2: We eat a lot of steaks, we eat a lot
- 59:51Speaker 2: of roasts, we eat a lot of I've been making
- 59:54Speaker 2: good beef stew, like any beef stew recipe. I'm doing
- 59:59Speaker 2: a lot of stewks barments with some of the larger roasts.
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: But you're not gonna unless you shoot like an old, old, old,
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: ancient animal. We shot a Sydney shot of one and
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: a half year old, and man, there hasn't been a
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: bite off that buffalo that I haven't enjoyed.
- 1:00:17Speaker 5: Thoughts, I'm sure you can't go wrong with any of it, Yeah,
- 1:00:20Speaker 5: depending on how old it is.
- 1:00:23Speaker 6: Yeah, we basically do anything with it that you know
- 1:00:26Speaker 6: you would do with any other red meat animal exactly.
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: I mean, it's it's a pretty I wouldn't say it's
- 1:00:33Speaker 2: a close substitute to beef, but we just sort of
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: treat it like the closest thing to beef that you
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: get from a game animal and man, we haven't gone
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: wrong with anything.
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: Yeah. Nice.
- 1:00:42Speaker 4: The heart's usually my favorite part, and I can only
- 1:00:44Speaker 4: imagine this.
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a big boy pick.
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: It's a big boy enjoy that. Good luck on that hunt. Yeah,
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: I wish I was hunting buffalo right now.
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: Seth says, shout out to Seth and his wife Kelsey.
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: My name is Seth and my wife's name is also Kelsey.
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: Whoa you guy should meet up and grab lunch somewhere. Yeah,
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: we had Mogor ask about how my production of the
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: Christmas Carol and it went very well.
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: Mogor, it was great. Oh yeah, it was fun.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: Let's see, we've got more demand for meat theater from Colby.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: We'll see about that.
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: Yeah, that is a good idea. I'm going to write
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: that down Meat Theater. We've got the meat theater crew
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: in here right now.
- 1:01:24Speaker 9: We should have done it.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: Dang, we'll do it again. We'll do it again. Sorry,
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: we should do it.
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: We should do it to Yannis without telling him that
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: we're going to do it.
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: Oh yeah, he would hate me, oh yeah, so much.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: You'd get that his face would turn red and you
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: get that permanent grin he gets when he's uncomfortable.
- 1:01:39Speaker 6: You'd have to do a thing that This camera just
- 1:01:41Speaker 6: zoomed in on Yanni's face while Randall was doing his thing.
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: Alexander Miller. Any good books lately, guys reading anything?
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: I've been out of a book phase recently.
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: I've been in a hard book phase recently, tell you what, Alexander.
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: I reread a classic, The Breaks of the Game, by
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: David Halberstam, which tells the story of the Portland Trailblazers
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: in the late seventies as the franchise fell apart after
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: Bill Walton left once they won the title. After that,
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: I read a book called Ends of the Earth by
- 1:02:16Speaker 2: Neil Shubin, who's an arctic researchertic I should say, a
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: polar researcher. A lot of it's about Antarctica as well,
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: which I realized I don't know anything about. Yeah, what
