- 0:15SPEAKER_00: In this episode, we're tackling a crucial topic that often gets overlooked in the hustle of entrepreneurship, leadership, and personal growth.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: The importance of prioritizing health.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Today I'll share an experience, a personal experience of being bedridden for a week and a half, and how it transformed my perspective on balancing health within Bishop.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: That said, let's get into it.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: Let's start with the story of what happened.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: Recently, I found myself bedridden for a week and a half, a situation I never anticipated.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: As an entrepreneur and someone who thrives on momentum and productivity, this experience was a massive wake-up hole.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: I learned several lessons from this, and one of the main uh biggest lessons was health is non-negotiable.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: During those days in bed, I realized that all my plans, ambitions, and responsibilities take a back seat.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: When your body demands attention, everything else becomes secondary.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: So a stark reminder that without our health health, nothing else we strive for can be sus can truly be sustained again, other than uh our relationship with Christ.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: Our lesson two was the body's signals.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: Often off our bodies often give us subtle signs before things get serious.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: But in our busy lives, it's easy to ignore them.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: I've been experiencing minor aches and fatigue and and a bit of uh a sore throat, but I brush them off as minor inconveniences.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: And and sometimes that can be tough because I don't know, hey, maybe it is a minor inconvenience, and I need it's something I need to push through, or I don't know if it's something that if I push through, then it it will become a lot more than a minor inconvenience.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: And so being forced to stop made me realize the importance of listening to those signals and taking proactive steps.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Balancing health with the demands of entrepreneurship and personal growth can be challenging, but it's essential.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: Let's explore how we can prioritize health without sacrificing our goals.
- 2:21SPEAKER_00: Incorporate health into your routine.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: Just as we schedule meetings and deadlines, we need to schedule a time for exercise, meal planning, and rest.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: Treat these activities as non-negotiable appointments with yourself.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: Integration ensures that health becomes a seamless plan, uh, and seamless part of your daily routine rather than an afterthought.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: Now, uh, I want to touch on exercise, meal planning, and rest for a second, because exercise, that's how you're gonna get your dopamine.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: That's how you're gonna perform at your peak level.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: And meal planning, that doesn't necessarily mean you have to meal plan, meal prep, uh, just have an idea uh is to good and and and make sure you're eating healthy, getting the the nutrients you need rather than eating nonsense.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: Rest is a big one for entrepreneurs that people love to put off.
- 3:18SPEAKER_00: And uh, but it's very crucial.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: Uh rest, what I've found is six hours, okay, great.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: But some people don't take three hours of sleep and and and think that they're fine on that on for several weeks at a time.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: No, I understand there's gonna be nights where, hey, I have to I have an event uh ending late at night, and I have another event starting early in the morning.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: So sometimes we might not get that six hours, that's seven, eight hours, right?
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: Uh, and so that's that's um that's gonna happen, and and you're gonna have to push through.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: That is when it's gonna be a minor inconvenience rather than something huge.
- 3:59SPEAKER_00: Uh, but ultimately, rest is not a luxury, it's a necessity.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: The time I spent in bedridden highlighted the importance of allowing my body and mind to recover.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: Pushing through fatigue might seem productive in the short term, but it often leads to burnout and prolonged downtime.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: Now that we discovered the importance of health, let's dive into some practical tips for making it a priority in our busy lives.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: The first tip I have is to listen to your body.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: Pay attention to the signs, your uh to the signals and signs that your body sends you.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: Fatigue, stress, minor pains are often indicators that something needs needs attention.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: Now, also don't don't uh over-exemplify, don't exaggerate what you have either.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: No, the second one is set boundaries.
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: Learn learn to say no to commitments that comprise compromise your health, establish boundaries that protect your well-being, and don't be afraid to enforce them.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: Third is make health goals, just as you set goals for your business or personal development, set specific health goals, whether it's drinking more water, exercising regularly, getting enough sleep, clear goals help maintain focus.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: And the fourth one is build a support system.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: Surround yourself with people who understand and support your health priorities.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: You want to surround yourself with people who make you better, and they are made better by making you better, not people who either make you worse, keep you the same, or they make you better, but they make themselves worse, and thus they resent you for it.
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: Make it a win-win where you're both making each other better, better.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: Uh, so whether it's a workout buddy or a family member who encourages rest, having a support system can make a significant difference.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: Let's move on to some questions from our listeners.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: How do you stay consistent with your health goals when you're busy?
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: Consistency comes from making health a priority and then integrating it into your daily routine.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: I use reminders and set specific times for workouts and meals just like I would for important meetings.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: What is the first step to take when you've been neg neglecting your health?
- 6:36SPEAKER_00: I'm forgetting how to speak English.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: Uh, start small.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: Identify one or two areas where you can make immediate improvements, like getting more sleep or drinking more water.
- 6:47SPEAKER_00: Once you've established these habits, gradually incorporate more changes.
- 6:53SPEAKER_00: The key is to start somewhere and build momentum.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: With all that said, thank you so much for tuning in to this episode of the Reborn Podcast.
