- 2:42Speaker 4: about the West Forndin International Film Festival. Good morning, Sarah,
- 2:44Speaker 4: Welcome to the show.
- 2:45Speaker 5: Good morning, thanks for having.
- 2:46Speaker 4: Me, Thank you for being here. So tell us you've
- 2:50Speaker 4: been I've been here in the past talking about talk
- 2:53Speaker 4: about it a little bit more so.
- 2:54Speaker 3: No, I was here in November to talk about our
- 2:56Speaker 3: fortieth anniversary festival.
- 2:58Speaker 5: Right, yeah, we had over at park Place.
- 2:59Speaker 4: Oh yeah, it was the one time thing. You're right, okay, sorry, no.
- 3:01Speaker 5: And it's it's fine.
- 3:02Speaker 3: You know, we have an ongoing you know, every year
- 3:04Speaker 3: around Cinema as well that we operate. And what we
- 3:06Speaker 3: have coming up next weeknd is our annual Oscar party fund.
- 3:10Speaker 4: Right, Okay, it's just a fundraiser. Okay, So what exactly
- 3:13Speaker 4: is going to go on here?
- 3:14Speaker 3: So starting at six o'clock, you know, you can show
- 3:17Speaker 3: up at Taylor Books over there in the cafe. We'll
- 3:19Speaker 3: have a big screen set up to watch the Oscars
- 3:21Speaker 3: and the Red Carpet before that, and I we'll have
- 3:24Speaker 3: some music and some food and you know, just hang
- 3:26Speaker 3: out and watch the Oscars all together and you know,
- 3:29Speaker 3: celebrate movies.
- 3:30Speaker 4: And it's no coincidence it's being held on Oscar night, right, correct,
- 3:34Speaker 4: That's that's a good time to have it. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 3:36Speaker 4: So have you done things in the past?
- 3:38Speaker 5: Oh yeah, yeah, we usually do this every year.
- 3:40Speaker 6: Okay, it's how many year?
- 3:41Speaker 4: How many years? Approximately?
- 3:42Speaker 3: Oh golly, I don't I don't know. I've only been
- 3:45Speaker 3: involved since like twenty seven.
- 3:46Speaker 7: Kay.
- 3:46Speaker 4: We're the films in black and white.
- 3:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know if they ever were for some
- 3:51Speaker 3: of them were you know, Schindler's listen ninety three, that
- 3:53Speaker 3: was pretty recent, Black and point one. Yeah, and there's
- 3:55Speaker 3: probably a couple this year nominated. Yeah, certain cutting.
- 3:58Speaker 4: Now have you actually seen all the films that are nominated?
- 4:00Speaker 1: I have.
- 4:01Speaker 3: I think this is the first year I've seen all
- 4:03Speaker 3: the Best Picture nominees before they were even announced. You know,
- 4:05Speaker 3: some years have to catch up when you don't well.
- 4:08Speaker 4: And what happens is and I'm not is obviously the
- 4:11Speaker 4: big movie gay like you are. But what what happens
- 4:13Speaker 4: frequently is that you know, some of these movies aren't
- 4:16Speaker 4: available in your local theater sometimes and you got to
- 4:18Speaker 4: kind of go, you got to go travel to see
- 4:20Speaker 4: them somewhere.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, Rigo and Nitro is actually playing all
- 4:24Speaker 3: ten Best.
- 4:24Speaker 5: Picture of Autists this week.
- 4:25Speaker 4: That's cool.
- 4:26Speaker 3: Yeah, So if you've missed some and you want to
- 4:27Speaker 3: see them in the theater, you know that there are
- 4:29Speaker 3: a couple of them that, like, we've been the only
- 4:31Speaker 3: ones to show in the Charleston area, and there's a
- 4:34Speaker 3: couple that never showed here during their regular runs.
- 4:37Speaker 4: So okay, now, what of the Best Picture nominees, what
- 4:39Speaker 4: was your favorite?
- 4:40Speaker 8: Uh?
- 4:41Speaker 3: My favorite is probably still a Hamnet, but you know,
- 4:43Speaker 3: maybe Cinema Value or Bagonia as well, but I think
- 4:47Speaker 3: probably one Battle after another or Sinners is gonna win.
- 4:50Speaker 4: I I've heard a lot of chatter around Centers. I
- 4:53Speaker 4: haven't seen any of the movies I do. I plan
- 4:56Speaker 4: to see Centers. That's one I do want to see.
- 4:58Speaker 4: I've heard a lot of chatter about it, and you said,
- 5:00Speaker 4: you saw, what did you think of it? No, it's
- 5:01Speaker 4: really good.
- 5:02Speaker 3: I'm not the horror fan, so it's not necessarily one
- 5:05Speaker 3: that I would pick personally. But there's a lot to
- 5:08Speaker 3: like about it. So, I mean, it is really well made,
- 5:10Speaker 3: really well produced, a lot of great music, a lot
- 5:12Speaker 3: of great music in it.
- 5:13Speaker 4: It is interesting to me because you know, entertainment Delford
- 5:17Speaker 4: has changed so much with streaming, you know, especially television shows.
- 5:22Speaker 4: If you look at when the Emmys come out, you
- 5:24Speaker 4: know a lot of times you may look at them,
- 5:26Speaker 4: people may look at them and say, well, where do
- 5:29Speaker 4: I even find this shows? It's not the three networks
- 5:32Speaker 4: anymore or four networks. You know, it's on streaming. It's
- 5:34Speaker 4: on this.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Service that service well, and three of the Best Picture
- 5:37Speaker 3: nominees Frankenstein, F one and Train Dreams, where you know
- 5:41Speaker 3: streaming releases that only had, you know, the minimum theatrical
- 5:45Speaker 3: runs that they needed to.
- 5:47Speaker 4: Qualify for the autumn, the minimum that they have to Oh, I.
- 5:49Speaker 3: Don't know, it's not very much, but that like Frankenstein
- 5:52Speaker 3: played and the closest it played was in Athens for
- 5:55Speaker 3: like a week, So.
- 5:56Speaker 4: Athens, Ohio.
- 5:57Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, yeah, it's college town. I figure it would
- 6:00Speaker 5: play up there, right, yeah. And then F one was
- 6:04Speaker 5: straight to Apple and Train Dreams straight and.
- 6:05Speaker 4: That it's amazing how much it's changed. I mean, I
- 6:09Speaker 4: talk a lot about how much the music industry has
- 6:11Speaker 4: changes because I've been doing this for thirty eight years almost,
- 6:14Speaker 4: and I remember, you know, the Billboard Hot one hundred
- 6:17Speaker 4: and Casey Caseum and radio and records, and that's all
- 6:20Speaker 4: changed now because it's everything's based on not even based
- 6:23Speaker 4: on sales as much as it is downloads. And now
- 6:25Speaker 4: we're seeing the same thing with movies and television. I
- 6:27Speaker 4: think music, you know, it comes out to streaming probably first,
- 6:30Speaker 4: right yeah, yeah.
- 6:31Speaker 5: And then you go see the artists, you know, live.
- 6:34Speaker 4: Yeah, and you just don't go buy CDs anymore.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Yeah, And then you know, I still believe that going
- 6:42Speaker 3: to the movies is like as a different experience than
- 6:44Speaker 3: watching it at.
- 6:45Speaker 4: Home, you know, one of the films that we had
- 6:49Speaker 4: a text about the show to the show about this
- 6:51Speaker 4: not long ago.
- 6:52Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:52Speaker 4: I'm a big Elvis fan. I always. I grew up
- 6:55Speaker 4: in a house of Elvis everything, Elvis everything. And I
- 6:58Speaker 4: saw the picture a couple of years ago that they
- 7:00Speaker 4: did with Tom Hanks playing Colonel you know, Tom Parker.
- 7:03Speaker 4: And the same guy who did that, Boz Luhrman, has
- 7:06Speaker 4: done this Elvis concert film now. And I was talking
- 7:09Speaker 4: to a friend of mine the other day that went
- 7:11Speaker 4: to see it. He was the only person in the theater,
- 7:13Speaker 4: he said, so I could sing along with it. But
- 7:15Speaker 4: that's a kind of movie I think that you would really,
- 7:18Speaker 4: I mean what I've been told about it. You really
- 7:20Speaker 4: need to see it in a theater.
- 7:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I have not seen that one, but yeah, I
- 7:23Speaker 3: know somebody who went to see it and they really
- 7:25Speaker 3: enjoyed it. But like I went to see in January
- 7:27Speaker 3: all three Lord of the Rings films in cinemas again
- 7:31Speaker 3: and that was quite an audience there for that those
- 7:33Speaker 3: three nights.
- 7:34Speaker 4: So again we're talking with Delfrid Chafin about this big
- 7:36Speaker 4: Oscar party that they're going to have their fundraiser and
- 7:39Speaker 4: talk about when you raise funds where they go for
- 7:43Speaker 4: the festival.
- 7:44Speaker 3: So well, last year was actually yeah, so last year
- 7:47Speaker 3: you know again prettyone who doesn't know. We have a
- 7:49Speaker 3: small thirty seat theater underneath Taylor Books and last year
- 7:53Speaker 3: we kicked off a fundraiser at our Oscar party to
- 7:56Speaker 3: replace the seats in there. So we finally got that
- 7:59Speaker 3: aunt of money raised, and then it took you know
- 8:03Speaker 3: what nine months for the seats to actually be manufactured
- 8:05Speaker 3: and shipped here. So we actually finally got those installed
- 8:08Speaker 3: in January. So that's you know, just the money, the
- 8:13Speaker 3: money we raise goes to continue our operations. You know,
- 8:16Speaker 3: it allows us to play movies here that don't get
- 8:19Speaker 3: shown here very often.
- 8:20Speaker 5: Like I said, we.
- 8:22Speaker 3: As of this weekend we have played all five best
- 8:24Speaker 3: international feature films, the only place in Charleston show all
- 8:28Speaker 3: those and you know, just all the money we raise
- 8:31Speaker 3: goes to you know, back into our facilities and allows
- 8:33Speaker 3: us to keep throwing what we do.
- 8:35Speaker 4: Talking to a Delf Chafing against nine to sixteen of
- 8:37Speaker 4: To Day Island Show on five ety Live, brought to

- 8:59Speaker 4: on your event.
- 8:59Speaker 6: Next.
- 9:00Speaker 3: So it's at Oscar at the Taylor Books in the cafe.
- 9:02Speaker 3: It starts We're going to open the doors about six.
- 9:05Speaker 3: The oscars start at seven. We have food coming from
- 9:08Speaker 3: bricks and barrels and then some desserts coming from MIA's Panaderia,
- 9:13Speaker 3: which I'm sure I'm not sure I pronounced that correct.
- 9:16Speaker 3: But you know it's gonna be some great food and
- 9:18Speaker 3: just some great time watching the movies.
- 9:20Speaker 4: And where do you people get tickets? Do they need
- 9:22Speaker 4: to get him in advance?
- 9:23Speaker 3: They can on our website w I f F dot
- 9:26Speaker 3: org or you can get him at the door.
- 9:27Speaker 4: All right, And starts at six six o'clock. The doors
- 9:30Speaker 4: will open at six, right, and the in the oscars,
- 9:33Speaker 4: Conan is Conan O'Brien is hosting again. What do you
- 9:35Speaker 4: think of Conan as a host.
- 9:36Speaker 3: He's a pretty funny guy. I don't have strong opinions
- 9:39Speaker 3: on the host either way.
- 9:40Speaker 4: So yeah, well I think sometimes we which you have
- 9:43Speaker 4: a lot of award shows, is you have the host
- 9:45Speaker 4: that tries to take over the show. And one of
- 9:47Speaker 4: the things I like about Conan is that he knows
- 9:50Speaker 4: the role.
- 9:50Speaker 5: You know, he can.
- 9:51Speaker 4: He can do his little funnies here and there, but
- 9:53Speaker 4: primarily it's about the pictures.
- 9:54Speaker 3: He was in one of the films this year that
- 9:56Speaker 3: was you know, he was in If I head legs,
- 9:59Speaker 3: I'd Kick You, which burn is nominated for US.
- 10:01Speaker 4: Okay, all right, good stuff, Delfred, I appreciate you being

- 12:19Speaker 4: We've got a couple of things I want to talk
- 12:21Speaker 4: to you about this morning. Number one, how many of
- 12:23Speaker 4: the Best Picture Oscars nominees have you seen?
- 12:26Speaker 6: Well?
- 12:26Speaker 13: I don't even know who the nominees are, so oh there,
- 12:29Speaker 13: my guess is probably zero. Okay, I did go see
- 12:32Speaker 13: what was the Ping Pong movie with shalome Is that
- 12:34Speaker 13: in the best pictures or not? I have no idea, right.
- 12:38Speaker 4: Probact, can you help us with that Ping Pong movie
- 12:40Speaker 4: with Shalomey?
- 12:42Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 12:43Speaker 4: Yeah, honestly, I he wasn't paid attention. That's fine, that's fine.
- 12:47Speaker 4: Apparently a lot of people were. I've only been to
- 12:49Speaker 4: the movies like one time in the last ten years. Really,
- 12:52Speaker 4: what did you see?
- 12:53Speaker 13: And it was that one? It was it was on
- 12:55Speaker 13: Christmas Day. We went out in the evening and watched
- 12:58Speaker 13: whatever that movie was, and I think it maybe he
- 13:01Speaker 13: was nominated for something. But honestly, I just don't watch. Yeah,
- 13:05Speaker 13: I don't have the attention span. I wish I did. Uh.
- 13:10Speaker 4: Now, I'll watch the classics. I mean, oh yeah, anytime
- 13:13Speaker 4: I'm flipping, I mean, my wife knows. You know, what's
- 13:16Speaker 4: gonna happen when Caddy Shack is on, you know, the
- 13:18Speaker 4: cinema greats Caddy Shack.
- 13:21Speaker 13: I'm trying to smoking a bandit of course, oh kid, Yeah,
- 13:25Speaker 13: for me, it is always dumb and Dumber. Dumb and
- 13:28Speaker 13: Dumber's on. I'm watching. Yeah, I don't care. Godfather, well,
- 13:32Speaker 13: oh yeah, one and two, yeah, number three, play three.
- 13:36Speaker 13: So those are the ones that I always anytime a
- 13:39Speaker 13: Christmas story is on. I watched I'm anything to do
- 13:43Speaker 13: with the Mob. I'm good, good Fellows, Uh a casino,
- 13:47Speaker 13: any of those? Uh you mentioned Godfather. I'm a big
- 13:51Speaker 13: fan of Wall Street because oh greed, greed is good
- 13:54Speaker 13: in and of itself is good. Gordon Gekko.
- 13:57Speaker 4: This concludes, Uh, film time with school neighbor. All right,
- 14:02Speaker 4: A couple of things I want to talk to you about.
- 14:03Speaker 4: Ben You the Commission put out a release last week
- 14:06Speaker 4: opposing Mountaineer gas rate hike requestions about that.
- 14:12Speaker 13: Well, people have rate height fatigue, you know, in Kannawll County,
- 14:15Speaker 13: and that's it's honest, all over the state of West Virginia.
- 14:17Speaker 13: But we are seeing it time and time again. It
- 14:19Speaker 13: doesn't matter you pick your favorite utility. They're coming into
- 14:21Speaker 13: the Public Service Commission and they're always asking for rate increases.
- 14:26Speaker 13: Uh Mountaineer Gas.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Uh.
- 14:27Speaker 13: I think it was about I forget what percentage points,
- 14:30Speaker 13: but it was you know, millions and millions of dollars.
- 14:32Speaker 5: It's going to be hung on the.
- 14:33Speaker 13: Back of everyone in West Virginia, but also in Kanall
- 14:38Speaker 13: County that they're gonna it's going to increase the monthly bill.
- 14:41Speaker 13: And right now everything is going up. Uh, cost of
- 14:44Speaker 13: goods are going up. We're watching, you know, the news
- 14:46Speaker 13: of gas are going up. Everything's going up. And so
- 14:49Speaker 13: typically the game that they play, and it's not just
- 14:51Speaker 13: Mountaineer gas, it's all utilities. They will come in and
- 14:53Speaker 13: OI ask for multiples of what they actually need, knowing
- 14:57Speaker 13: that the Public Service Commission and by the way, that's
- 15:00Speaker 13: not the Kanawak County Commission. People get that public Service
- 15:04Speaker 13: Commissions because you guys are elected, you're actually elected, and
- 15:08Speaker 13: they will ask for multiples of what they actually need,
- 15:11Speaker 13: understanding that the Public Service Commission is not going to
- 15:13Speaker 13: get them everything. But then they walk out with maybe
- 15:17Speaker 13: half of what they requested it and so they actually
- 15:19Speaker 13: are satisfied with what they received. So the problem is
- 15:23Speaker 13: that this is going on over and over and over
- 15:26Speaker 13: and people's utility bills have doubled and tripled and quadrupled.
- 15:31Speaker 13: I got my electric bill the other day and I
- 15:32Speaker 13: was shocked how high it was. I couldn't believe it.
- 15:35Speaker 13: Like I went back through the history of the last
- 15:37Speaker 13: few years of paying my electric It had never been
- 15:39Speaker 13: that high, and that's what we're seeing. You know, Western
- 15:41Speaker 13: India has you know, the highest utilities in the nation,
- 15:44Speaker 13: and just rate increase after rate increase. It's not sustainable.
- 15:48Speaker 13: People can't pay it. People can't make the decision, oh,
- 15:51Speaker 13: I'm not going to have my medicine this month because
- 15:53Speaker 13: I have to pay my gas bill and my electric bill.
- 15:56Speaker 13: And that's that's what they're facing. It's just not sustainable.
- 15:59Speaker 13: So we're we're opposing it. We have over the last
- 16:02Speaker 13: few years, you know, even before I was on a commission.
- 16:06Speaker 13: We'll go up to the Public Service Commission and testify
- 16:09Speaker 13: because we get a lot of the complaints. You know,
- 16:11Speaker 13: kind of where the commission I say that the county
- 16:14Speaker 13: commissions and municipality is kind of where the rubber meets
- 16:17Speaker 13: the road. That's where people go and they make their complaints,
- 16:20Speaker 13: even if it's a bigger issue, a state issue. You know,
- 16:23Speaker 13: if there's a pothole in a state road, well, guess what,
- 16:26Speaker 13: the county doesn't maintain any roads, thankfully, but you know,
- 16:30Speaker 13: we will get that and we will pass it on
- 16:31Speaker 13: to the appropriate body. But the same thing with utility
- 16:35Speaker 13: rate hikes, people are sick of it and something has
- 16:38Speaker 13: to be done. There has to be more torm, There
- 16:39Speaker 13: has to be some public service commission could be elected.
- 16:43Speaker 13: You think they should be, you know, I don't know.
- 16:45Speaker 13: I think it would if anyone would ever serve a
- 16:49Speaker 13: second term, that.
- 16:50Speaker 4: Would be amazing, term limited to themselves.
- 16:53Speaker 13: I think it would be term limited. I'm not sure
- 16:55Speaker 13: that that's the answer, but because then it would never
- 17:00Speaker 13: approve a rate increase. And then sometimes honestly, it's required,
- 17:05Speaker 13: like you just have to have the maintenance, you know,
- 17:08Speaker 13: particularly you talking about the power coming of vegetation maintenance.
- 17:10Speaker 13: You've got trees coming down and limbs coming down and
- 17:13Speaker 13: knocking poles and lines out. I understand. And their costs
- 17:18Speaker 13: go up too. But when you see, you know, ce
- 17:21Speaker 13: Is or Sehos are taking on forty fifty sixty million
- 17:23Speaker 13: a year and then they're coming and asking for more
- 17:26Speaker 13: money from RED, it's a it's tough to swallow. So
- 17:31Speaker 13: I see points on both sides of it. And thankfully
- 17:34Speaker 13: I'm not in the legislature and have to make that call.
- 17:37Speaker 4: Are you good to take a phone call? Speaking of call? Sure,
- 17:38Speaker 4: somebody absolutely, somebody had a question for you. Let's go
- 17:41Speaker 4: to Bob and Charleston. You're on with Benzelingko. Go ahead.
- 17:45Speaker 8: Well, my question was about Iran blocking the straits of
- 17:51Speaker 8: horror moves. I'm puzzled by that is. The reason they
- 17:54Speaker 8: can block that is because they consider that their territorial
- 17:59Speaker 8: waters and nobody would be allowed in it without their permission.
- 18:03Speaker 13: Yeah, and you know, I heard that Hoppy Kirchible was
- 18:06Speaker 13: going to do a segment today on the Iran issue,
- 18:09Speaker 13: and he'll probably talk about that. My understanding is that's
- 18:12Speaker 13: exactly why they do it, but that's kind of out
- 18:15Speaker 13: of the purview of the count County Commission, you know,
- 18:17Speaker 13: talking about escalating things even further. I mean, it's already
- 18:20Speaker 13: seemingly as bad as he can get over there, but
- 18:23Speaker 13: you know, blocking that and we'll make it escalate even further.
- 18:28Speaker 8: Thank you?
- 18:28Speaker 6: All right? All right?
- 18:30Speaker 4: Anything new on the Sports Center?
- 18:33Speaker 13: Yeah, so, I think there's still negotiations between the city
- 18:35Speaker 13: and the whole group to try to determine whether or
- 18:38Speaker 13: not part or all of them all will be gifted
- 18:41Speaker 13: donated to the city. If that happens, then we will
- 18:45Speaker 13: reconfigure the design to make it a one level, which
- 18:49Speaker 13: will save money and we'll be able to kind of
- 18:52Speaker 13: probably make it bigger than we would have in the beginning,
- 18:55Speaker 13: but I think that's kind of what we're waiting on now.
- 18:57Speaker 13: So we receive the federally Directed Spending Center Capitol, thank
- 19:06Speaker 13: you so much. That was seven million dollars. That kind
- 19:08Speaker 13: of put us over where we needed to be on
- 19:10Speaker 13: the funding side, and now we're just waiting to see
- 19:12Speaker 13: kind of what it's going to look like. If the
- 19:15Speaker 13: whole group donates them all and then it'll be one level,
- 19:18Speaker 13: it'll be larger. If they don't, then it'll be multi
- 19:23Speaker 13: levels like we had in an initial drawing.
- 19:25Speaker 4: Let's talk about jail bills. Jail bills, the commissioner are
- 19:29Speaker 4: something that every county, all fifty five county commission's battle
- 19:33Speaker 4: with and trying to get them under control.
- 19:36Speaker 13: It's one of the county's biggest expenses. Is you know,
- 19:41Speaker 13: we got hit with the increase in the jail bill
- 19:43Speaker 13: increase in PA, so we're kind of upside down on
- 19:46Speaker 13: our budget to the tune of about seven hundred grand.
- 19:48Speaker 13: I think we've cut back on that. We got some
- 19:50Speaker 13: more final numbers on the revenue side last week, so
- 19:53Speaker 13: we're probably looking at closer to six hundred grand, and
- 19:56Speaker 13: we'll be able to we'll be able to fix that.
- 19:59Speaker 13: There'll be cuts just to make that happen. But the
- 20:02Speaker 13: jail bill is our biggest expense. It's about five million
- 20:07Speaker 13: dollars a year. You think that through, that's four hundred
- 20:10Speaker 13: thousand dollars a month is what we're paying. So when
- 20:13Speaker 13: someone is arrested the gun front or a magistrate and
- 20:15Speaker 13: then they're kind of held awaiting trial, that adds to
- 20:21Speaker 13: the county. It's I think it's sixty seven dollars and
- 20:24Speaker 13: twenty three cents per day per inmate, and that adds
- 20:30Speaker 13: up to about four hundred thousand a month. And so
- 20:33Speaker 13: that's not sustainable because it's not going down. It just
- 20:35Speaker 13: continues to rise. And so two years from now it
- 20:38Speaker 13: could be six million or seven million a year. When
- 20:42Speaker 13: we do that, we can't have money for other things
- 20:44Speaker 13: like pay raises to employees or critical funding ems funny,
- 20:49Speaker 13: those types of things. So we have to make some decisions.
- 20:52Speaker 13: One of the things that we had proposed, and this
- 20:53Speaker 13: was not quite frankly, it was not my idea. It
- 20:56Speaker 13: was the Center for Budget and Policy came out with
- 21:00Speaker 13: a paper in the fall of twenty twenty four and
- 21:05Speaker 13: it was written by Sarah Whittaker and it had a
- 21:10Speaker 13: lot of good ideas for counties to reduce your jail bill.
- 21:12Speaker 4: So we took that.
- 21:14Speaker 13: I took that one weekend and just started tinkering with
- 21:17Speaker 13: it to modify it to what would that look like
- 21:19Speaker 13: in Conaw County. And so we came up with a
- 21:23Speaker 13: task force that's going to be funded with opio money.
- 21:25Speaker 13: It will help with opio reduction but also with decreasing
- 21:28Speaker 13: the jail bill costs. The goal is to have essentially
- 21:31Speaker 13: four people that will review daily incarcerations to make recommendations
- 21:36Speaker 13: as to whether or not this if it's whether this
- 21:40Speaker 13: person should be in jail or lease less you know,
- 21:48Speaker 13: lesser options like home confinement or some of the other
- 21:52Speaker 13: things that we can do there to reduce So basically
- 21:55Speaker 13: they get out. If it's a non violent crime, they
- 21:59Speaker 13: would be. They would not be incarcerated awaiting trial. Only
- 22:02Speaker 13: after trial would they be if they're convicted. And so
- 22:05Speaker 13: the goal is to you know, keep people safe because
- 22:09Speaker 13: we're dealing with most of those like petty crimes or
- 22:12Speaker 13: like minor drug offenses, those types of things. Nothing nothing harsh,
- 22:15Speaker 13: no felonies, nothing like that that will not be affected
- 22:18Speaker 13: by this, basically to save the county money, to get
- 22:21Speaker 13: people out, to get them into the you know, job programs,
- 22:25Speaker 13: and home confinement if necessary.
- 22:28Speaker 4: Talking to, you know, with Kannak County Commissioned President of
- 22:30Speaker 4: Ben Slango, Texas, David Commissioner Selango. If we have the coal,
- 22:34Speaker 4: why don't we have the high why do we have
- 22:35Speaker 4: the highest electricity cost? If we have the water? Are
- 22:38Speaker 4: water rates so high? He say, it's because we're so
- 22:40Speaker 4: hilly in transmission lines and water lines are so difficult
- 22:42Speaker 4: to maintain, and are politicians need to figure out a
- 22:45Speaker 4: way to make the electric and water companies figure out
- 22:47Speaker 4: how to spread the wealth so we don't shoulder the burden.
- 22:49Speaker 4: It's the same electricity, it's the same water.
- 22:52Speaker 13: Well, you know, I agree. I think a lot of
- 22:54Speaker 13: it is infrastructure. I think we have very old infrastructure.
- 22:58Speaker 13: We have very old water lines, which we see time
- 23:00Speaker 13: and time again. We have a lot of the utility
- 23:03Speaker 13: lines were run forever ago and they're failing and there's
- 23:08Speaker 13: there's simply not enough money to go in and fix
- 23:10Speaker 13: it all at once. And you know, I've watched that
- 23:12Speaker 13: report on McDowell County and it's it's heartbreaking what's going
- 23:15Speaker 13: on in McDowell County that we can't somehow come up
- 23:18Speaker 13: with a way to help them. And but you're seeing
- 23:22Speaker 13: that not just to mcdowll. You're seeing it elsewhere and
- 23:24Speaker 13: it's a shame. But it is because of our archaic
- 23:27Speaker 13: and infrastructure and it just has not was not maintained
- 23:30Speaker 13: over the years.
- 23:31Speaker 4: Texas. The PSC is what happens when the regulatory capture.
- 23:34Speaker 4: With regulatory capture, Republicans and utilties have dominance over the
- 23:37Speaker 4: actions of the PSC, no independence. It's so bad. The
- 23:40Speaker 4: PSC chair, who's effectively chief judge of rate increases requests,
- 23:43Speaker 4: says she would never vote to close a coal fired
- 23:46Speaker 4: power plant. Well, if a magistrate judge said that in
- 23:48Speaker 4: rent cases, they'd never vote to a victor tenant, would
- 23:51Speaker 4: we be concerned about bias?
- 23:52Speaker 13: Well, if a magister said that in court, then he
- 23:56Speaker 13: would have or she would have jiic problems if you're
- 23:59Speaker 13: not allowed to project which way you're going to rule
- 24:01Speaker 13: from the judiciary. But and this is not a democratic
- 24:05Speaker 13: or republican issue. You know that whoever texted in is
- 24:08Speaker 13: kind of focusing on the way it is now. This
- 24:10Speaker 13: has been going on for a while This is not
- 24:12Speaker 13: It's not like the rate increase has just started in
- 24:15Speaker 13: the last few years. This has been going on for
- 24:17Speaker 13: quite some time, and so we're at a point where,
- 24:19Speaker 13: quite frankly, it just can't go up anymore. I mean,
- 24:21Speaker 13: people can't pay any more. You know, it's not like,
- 24:24Speaker 13: you know, income is going through the roof here in
- 24:26Speaker 13: West Virginia.
- 24:28Speaker 5: It's not.
- 24:29Speaker 13: You know, things are somewhat stagnant, and so we've got
- 24:31Speaker 13: to make sure that we're not raising people's utilities to
- 24:35Speaker 13: where it's just not affordable.
- 24:37Speaker 4: Before we let you go, I want to get your
- 24:40Speaker 4: opinion on something You've been keeping a close eye on
- 24:42Speaker 4: a bill of the legislature and you can come on
- 24:44Speaker 4: Metro News Midday. You've come on this show to talk
- 24:46Speaker 4: about it as well as it pertains to sentencing murder
- 24:49Speaker 4: cases things like that. So we'll close up with that.
- 24:51Speaker 13: Well, again, this one is not a political issue. This
- 24:53Speaker 13: was a personal issue, and West Virginia had had been
- 24:57Speaker 13: lagging behind in its mandatory sentencing for first degree murder.
- 25:01Speaker 13: And I know your next guest is Danny Jones, but
- 25:04Speaker 13: you know, thirty years ago there was a young man
- 25:07Speaker 13: working at Danny Jones's restaurant. It happened to be Terra's
- 25:10Speaker 13: old my wife's older brother, and he was murdered, and
- 25:14Speaker 13: so Danny stood alongside us since that time, and we've
- 25:19Speaker 13: shown up at parole hearing after parole hearing to try
- 25:22Speaker 13: to keep the murderer who was convicted of premeditated intentional
- 25:26Speaker 13: first degree murder, to try to keep him in prison.
- 25:28Speaker 13: It was shocking to us to realize that even back then,
- 25:32Speaker 13: if you were sentenced to first deary murder with mercy,
- 25:34Speaker 13: you could actually come up for parole after only ten years.
- 25:38Speaker 13: So the legislature fixed that made it fifteen years. Now
- 25:41Speaker 13: a lot of people have to go through this if
- 25:43Speaker 13: there's no chance that the person's going to get out,
- 25:46Speaker 13: yet they still have to appear every one to three
- 25:48Speaker 13: years for these parole hearings, and it is absolutely heartbreaking
- 25:51Speaker 13: and gut wrenching to these families to have to live
- 25:54Speaker 13: it over and over again. So on the House side
- 25:56Speaker 13: they proposed a bill it's called Todd's Law that was
- 25:59Speaker 13: named after my brother in law, Todd Farley, and then
- 26:02Speaker 13: also on the Senate side SB one thirty seven, the
- 26:06Speaker 13: Senate passed Senate Bill one thirty seven. It went over
- 26:08Speaker 13: the House. It's the House bill which made some revisions.
- 26:11Speaker 13: They added Todd's Law into SB one thirty seven. It's
- 26:14Speaker 13: on third reading today and what that means is if
- 26:17Speaker 13: it gets through the final vote, then it will go
- 26:19Speaker 13: back to the Senate just for approval, and then it'll
- 26:22Speaker 13: be on the governor's desk. This is something that is needed.
- 26:26Speaker 13: You know, I've caught some grief over this because I
- 26:29Speaker 13: was kind of pushing it, but it's something that West
- 26:32Speaker 13: Virginia needs. We need to be in alignment with the
- 26:35Speaker 13: other states. West Virginia was and Ohio were had the
- 26:40Speaker 13: lowest sentencing in the United States for someone convicted of
- 26:44Speaker 13: first degree murder with mercy. That's an intentional, premeditated killing,
- 26:47Speaker 13: and they could get out after fifteen years. In fact,
- 26:50Speaker 13: it has happened, you know. I went through the records,
- 26:52Speaker 13: and it's happened. Where someone will intentionally kill somebody and
- 26:55Speaker 13: they get out after fifteen years. It's shocking to me
- 26:59Speaker 13: primarily that doesn't happen, but it has, and so we've
- 27:01Speaker 13: got to fix that. It shouldn't be, you know, some
- 27:03Speaker 13: discretionary thing just because they were a good a good
- 27:06Speaker 13: boy for a few years in prison that somehow the
- 27:08Speaker 13: pro board's gonna let him out. You actually have to
- 27:10Speaker 13: be you have to pay for that crime. That is
- 27:13Speaker 13: the ultimate crime when you kill somebody and to get
- 27:15Speaker 13: out in fifteen years is insulting to the families. It's
- 27:18Speaker 13: insulting to the victims. Thankfully, the legislature's addressing that. I
- 27:23Speaker 13: certainly commend him for it.
- 27:24Speaker 4: Yeah, and again, I think sometimes the families are the
- 27:28Speaker 4: ones that really really suffering this. And you've talked about
- 27:31Speaker 4: your personal story with your wife and having to go
- 27:33Speaker 4: through this, and you know, and Danny, who's coming up next,
- 27:36Speaker 4: he was there with us. I mean, he showed up
- 27:38Speaker 4: at these parole hearings with us. It happened in his restaurant.
- 27:41Speaker 4: You know, it affected Terra's family since she was sixteen
- 27:45Speaker 4: years old. Every time this happens, I mean, is it
- 27:48Speaker 4: is turmoil. It also affected Danny's business. Keep in mind
- 27:52Speaker 4: that he had one of the most successful barbecue businesses
- 27:55Speaker 4: in the valley and after this murder, people wouldn't go
- 27:58Speaker 4: in the building and it actually closed. It was called
- 28:00Speaker 4: Annie's rib house' it's was in Nitro. But it affected
- 28:03Speaker 4: him too.
- 28:04Speaker 13: It affected everybody, you know, the employees that were there,
- 28:07Speaker 13: that witnessed it, Yeah, were affected. Some of them had PTSD,
- 28:10Speaker 13: had to go to counseling for years. It was a
- 28:14Speaker 13: it was a significant life changing event. And the fact
- 28:18Speaker 13: that this person could get out after ten or fifteen
- 28:20Speaker 13: years is appalling. It should that should never be the law.
- 28:23Speaker 13: You shouldn't have to There are property crimes, there are
- 28:26Speaker 13: crimes against animals where you would spend more time in
- 28:29Speaker 13: prison than if you killed somebody. And it's it's shocking
- 28:33Speaker 13: to me that that wasn't addressed before. But quite frankly, uh,
- 28:37Speaker 13: it wasn't onnybody's radar, but it is now. And as
- 28:39Speaker 13: soon as the legislature, you know, saw what was going
- 28:43Speaker 13: on and realized that we were kind of lagging behind
- 28:45Speaker 13: the other states, they took action. And I commend him
- 28:47Speaker 13: for it.
- 28:48Speaker 4: Not kind of commission president of and Selang. Appreciate you

- 32:15Speaker 4: Danny Jones. How you doing, my friend?
- 32:17Speaker 6: I'm doing fine, thank you.
- 32:19Speaker 4: So I want to hear real quickly how my day started.
- 32:22Speaker 4: All right, So I've been very open about when you've
- 32:25Speaker 4: been a very good friend to me going through this
- 32:27Speaker 4: prostate cancer stuff. So today six forty five, This morning,
- 32:32Speaker 4: I'm at c AMC in Tays Valley to get a
- 32:37Speaker 4: looprin injection basically to kill testosterone. All right. Now, when
- 32:42Speaker 4: I told Chris Lawrence that, he got a big laugh
- 32:44Speaker 4: out of that by saying, well, what you know getting
- 32:46Speaker 4: that Chris style, what you mean you had testosterone? So
- 32:49Speaker 4: basically they had to you know, and right now I
- 32:52Speaker 4: have no ill effects whatsoever. They tell me, did you
- 32:55Speaker 4: have to go through anything that with your prostate cancer?
- 32:57Speaker 4: Now I haven't removed okay, All right, well I'm doing
- 33:00Speaker 4: the radiation. It was worth well. I went to it
- 33:03Speaker 4: was really bad. You told me, they talked you not
- 33:06Speaker 4: to do it. You told me not to do the removal,
- 33:09Speaker 4: and uh, I'm not.
- 33:10Speaker 6: Uh and I did it for one reason. Yeah, because
- 33:13Speaker 6: those two boys, Yeah right, I had them late in
- 33:16Speaker 6: life and I wanted to make sure I stayed alive.
- 33:20Speaker 6: And I'm seventy five. Yeah, and I'm still kicking yeah and.
- 33:24Speaker 4: So h So, basically what they got to do is
- 33:27Speaker 4: they got to kill my testosterone. Uh So, you know,
- 33:31Speaker 4: they said I could have hot flashes and things of
- 33:34Speaker 4: that nature.
- 33:35Speaker 6: So well, when you're when you're married, it goes away
- 33:37Speaker 6: in it, you know.
- 33:39Speaker 4: I mean, look, I've I look at it like this.
- 33:42Speaker 4: I'm fifty five years old. I've had very little health issues.
- 33:46Speaker 4: I had my appendix removed, I had a tonsil ectomy,
- 33:48Speaker 4: never had a broken bone, probably because I didn't have
- 33:51Speaker 4: any testosterone. Uh but uh so, you know, eventually it hits.
- 33:55Speaker 4: And you know, I had a shoulder injury a couple
- 33:58Speaker 4: a couple of years agohead of under go physical therapy
- 34:01Speaker 4: for got that straightened out. And now I got this.
- 34:04Speaker 4: So it's all good, no symptoms. I'm gonna kick it.
- 34:06Speaker 4: I'm feeling good. But I appreciate your friendship and your
- 34:09Speaker 4: guidance on the earthing. You're one of the first people
- 34:11Speaker 4: I reached out to and I said, Danny, guess what,
- 34:13Speaker 4: I got it.
- 34:14Speaker 6: And if you live long enough, if you live to
- 34:19Speaker 6: be eighty five, two out of three people, Yeah, have
- 34:22Speaker 6: two out of three.
- 34:23Speaker 4: And it's amazing to me since I started talking about Danny,
- 34:26Speaker 4: the number of people that have reached out to me
- 34:28Speaker 4: and said, oh I went through that ten years ago.
- 34:30Speaker 4: Oh I went through it. I'm going through it now.
- 34:32Speaker 4: Oh my dad just went through this, or my uncle
- 34:34Speaker 4: went through it or whatever. So you know, we got this.
- 34:36Speaker 4: Did you want to follow up a little bit on
- 34:38Speaker 4: what what the what Ben Selango is doing?
- 34:41Speaker 6: The murderer was named Glendale Women. No, it's then Dale Guthrie.
- 34:50Speaker 6: The victim was Todd Todd Farley, Judge Slango's brother. He
- 35:02Speaker 6: had another brother named Tracy, and Tracy was there that
- 35:07Speaker 6: night too, and Todd said that he flipped a towel
- 35:16Speaker 6: at him or something, so he wanted to kill him.
- 35:20Speaker 6: But Guthrie didn't look the same when he walked in
- 35:24Speaker 6: there that night. He usually spoke to me and everything
- 35:28Speaker 6: and hey, you doing He didn't do any of that.
- 35:30Speaker 6: I thought, this is weird, but Tracy told me when
- 35:35Speaker 6: Todd was laying back there in the floor, you know
- 35:39Speaker 6: gush and blood. He said, Danny, I think I should
- 35:43Speaker 6: have told you this. But three days ago Dale came
- 35:46Speaker 6: up to me and asked me if I ever wondered
- 35:49Speaker 6: what it'd feel like to kill somebody. He looked at
- 35:53Speaker 6: it like, well, good looking woman, he won't to see
- 35:57Speaker 6: what it felt like. That's that That's exactly what happened,
- 36:02Speaker 6: and he should never get out of jail. Yeah, because
- 36:05Speaker 6: it might come after me.
- 36:07Speaker 4: I didn't, and I didn't realize until Ben Commissioner Silangu
- 36:11Speaker 4: just told the story on it. He's been on the
- 36:12Speaker 4: air several times talking about it about his But I
- 36:14Speaker 4: didn't know. I knew it happened at your restaurant there
- 36:17Speaker 4: at Nitro, but I didn't realize that. Ben said you
- 36:19Speaker 4: had gone to the parole hearings with him.
- 36:22Speaker 6: I'll tell you another. I've been to a few. I'll
- 36:25Speaker 6: tell you another story. Judge Nap knew the mother and
- 36:31Speaker 6: Judge Nap federal judge called me, said, Danny, have you
- 36:38Speaker 6: called miss Farley? I said no. He said why. I said,
- 36:45Speaker 6: I don't know what to say. He said, well, I
- 36:47Speaker 6: listened to you on that radio every morning. You certainly
- 36:50Speaker 6: have plenty to say there. You better think of something
- 36:53Speaker 6: the same, you better pick up that phone and collar
- 36:55Speaker 6: and that's what I did. So it was it was
- 37:00Speaker 6: it was real sad uh that day. I had twenty
- 37:03Speaker 6: seven employees when we reopened at eleven.
- 37:08Speaker 4: Eventually you close the restaurant and no.
- 37:12Speaker 6: I kept the restaurant open, but I had to go
- 37:14Speaker 6: back to work.
- 37:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 37:15Speaker 6: Right, I had to work the line because we we
- 37:20Speaker 6: we lost half our business and then we picked it up.
- 37:24Speaker 6: We started picking it up and but out of side.
- 37:29Speaker 6: Then I was coming back downtown. Yeah, and I really
- 37:37Speaker 6: like Nitro I had. I had a good life down
- 37:40Speaker 6: there until then. Yeah.
- 37:43Speaker 4: So the big the big news internationally Danny and know
- 37:46Speaker 4: we talked about it last week, and the fighting continues
- 37:49Speaker 4: to escalate and Iran and in that general region. What
- 37:52Speaker 4: do you what do you do? What's your take? What
- 37:54Speaker 4: are you looking at?
- 37:55Speaker 9: Well?
- 37:55Speaker 4: I supported I know that, but I mean I didn't
- 37:57Speaker 4: know if there's anything in particular.
- 37:58Speaker 6: That I think that we need to be prepared to sacrifice.
- 38:04Speaker 6: I bought a one way ticket because I'm going to
- 38:09Speaker 6: take a car out west and leave it and I'm
- 38:12Speaker 6: going to fly back. That's in April. Flying back on
- 38:17Speaker 6: the coach seat cost fifteen hundred. I used to be
- 38:22Speaker 6: able to fly first class around trip for fifteen hundred.
- 38:26Speaker 6: So that's what you're that's what you're looking at. That's
- 38:28Speaker 6: what you're looking at now. And I'm I'm I'm urging
- 38:33Speaker 6: people to be patient and be prepared to sacrifice. Iran
- 38:40Speaker 6: declared war on US forty seven years ago. This is
- 38:43Speaker 6: not this is not new. Trump just had to be
- 38:46Speaker 6: the one that put it forward. But I have another
- 38:49Speaker 6: proposal to make what's the name of the British Prize
- 38:54Speaker 6: Stormer of of Great Britain something like that's something like
- 39:01Speaker 6: his name, I can't think of his name. He would
- 39:05Speaker 6: not let us use his airstrip to launch our airplanes
- 39:10Speaker 6: from Okay, it's one of our NATO partners. So I've
- 39:18Speaker 6: been thinking a lot about this, and I think.
- 39:23Speaker 4: That star rate is starmer here.
- 39:24Speaker 6: I think it's time that I support Ukraine. But Ukraine's
- 39:29Speaker 6: in Europe, and I think President Trump ought to call
- 39:34Speaker 6: NATO have a meeting that says, you know what, We're
- 39:37Speaker 6: gonna let you all take care of Ukraine from now on,
- 39:41Speaker 6: and if you need any F sixteens, we'll be glad
- 39:45Speaker 6: to sell them to you. We're going to take care
- 39:47Speaker 6: of iron, because that's more dangerous to us.
- 39:52Speaker 4: It's war or the conflict, whatever you want to call it.
- 39:54Speaker 4: In Ron has costing the country a billion dollars a day.
- 39:57Speaker 6: That doesn't surprise me. That doesn't surprise me. And we
- 40:03Speaker 6: have to do this, and there are a lot of
- 40:07Speaker 6: people don't agree with it on both sides. You know,
- 40:10Speaker 6: you've got the America first, the mega crowd and the
- 40:15Speaker 6: left there against anything Trump's four.
- 40:18Speaker 4: Yeah, that's true.
- 40:20Speaker 9: But I.
- 40:25Speaker 6: Lived through nineteen seventy nine. I was twenty nine years
- 40:29Speaker 6: old and four hundred and forty four days, and I
- 40:35Speaker 6: think Carter blew it on a couple of ways. The
- 40:37Speaker 6: first thing, he should have saved the Shaw. The second thing,
- 40:43Speaker 6: we should have gone in.
- 40:46Speaker 4: They attempted that rescue. No, no, no, no, no, I'm
- 40:49Speaker 4: just saying I remember.
- 40:51Speaker 7: No.
- 40:51Speaker 4: I mean my point was, no, I know, there're two
- 40:53Speaker 4: different things. But we attempted that rescue and it turned
- 40:55Speaker 4: out very badly, which is one of the things I think.
- 40:59Speaker 4: And again, you were twenty nine years old. I was
- 41:02Speaker 4: nine years old, but I remember watching it on television
- 41:07Speaker 4: because you know, as a kid he did in nineteen
- 41:09Speaker 4: seventy you didn't have as many channels. You know, it's
- 41:11Speaker 4: what you had. But I remember watching and I remember
- 41:13Speaker 4: that a lot of the American sentiment at that time
- 41:18Speaker 4: really and Jimmy Carter, despite the fact he probably was
- 41:23Speaker 4: one of the best people to ever be president, one
- 41:26Speaker 4: of the best people. Okay, you're rolling your eyes, that's okay,
- 41:29Speaker 4: But it was a it was a horrible president. Yeah,
- 41:32Speaker 4: and uh, and that's one I think a lot of
- 41:36Speaker 4: the sentiment, the economy sunk Carter. But I think this
- 41:41Speaker 4: did too.
- 41:42Speaker 6: Those bombs that that Trump dropped on the first nuclear
- 41:50Speaker 6: we shouldn't. We shouldn't have dropped a bunch of those
- 41:52Speaker 6: bombs when they did that. You can't let somebody the
- 41:58Speaker 6: Nazis didn't do that. They didn't take over empathies. Nobody
- 42:02Speaker 6: ever takes over an empathy. It's but we allowed. And
- 42:08Speaker 6: the great thing about it was one of the people
- 42:12Speaker 6: that was killed was one of the people that was
- 42:18Speaker 6: took that empathy captive, and that was Akmadenajaw And he
- 42:22Speaker 6: got killed with the forty And I'm very grateful.
- 42:29Speaker 4: Think about for his perspective. I mean, this is a
- 42:32Speaker 4: guy who spent fifty years in a war in a
- 42:36Speaker 4: sense against America. You know and and he ends up,
- 42:40Speaker 4: you know, dying in this in the conflict.
- 42:42Speaker 6: They killed their own people. They killed they Bonnie Sawder
- 42:46Speaker 6: had a sneak out on a plane. He was the
- 42:48Speaker 6: president of Iran Goats. Padet was their spokesman here. They
- 42:54Speaker 6: murdered him. They hung him.
- 42:55Speaker 4: And I've seen the he's very well spoken. The I'm
- 43:00Speaker 4: not saying I agree with him. He just very well
- 43:01Speaker 4: spoken of the and I forget the title of the
- 43:04Speaker 4: Iran in Foreign Ministry he was. He's made it on
- 43:06Speaker 4: several shows. He was on Meet the Press. I think
- 43:08Speaker 4: yesterday very respectful when he speaks. But he said and
- 43:10Speaker 4: I even remarked to my wife about this, because he
- 43:12Speaker 4: even said on the show yesterday about how Americans were
- 43:18Speaker 4: killing their people and we're not, and he said made
- 43:20Speaker 4: some statement. I'm very much paraphrasing here, Danny made some
- 43:22Speaker 4: statement like, you know, we're not the ones that are
- 43:25Speaker 4: killing our people. They are. And I'm thinking, no, you've
- 43:29Speaker 4: been killing a whole heck of a lot of your
- 43:30Speaker 4: people for a number of years.
- 43:32Speaker 6: They make it up, they killed we don't even know,
- 43:36Speaker 6: somewhere between twenty and forty thousand. When you control the media,
- 43:42Speaker 6: I mean they shut down the internet. And you know
- 43:47Speaker 6: what what, the Iranian people needs a second amendment. We
- 43:52Speaker 6: need to somehow the idea or the massade need to
- 43:57Speaker 6: get these people guns thing to themselves. Because the people
- 44:02Speaker 6: with the guns and they're dressed like undressed, they go
- 44:06Speaker 6: out and just shoot people out in the street. It's
- 44:10Speaker 6: a terrible bunch of people. And October seventh, uh in Borut, Beirut,
- 44:18Speaker 6: when all those marines got killed. That was Iran. Iran
- 44:23Speaker 6: is the terrorists all over. And you had John Kerry
- 44:29Speaker 6: thinks he pulled some kind of a weapons deal with him.
- 44:33Speaker 6: It's it's it's ridiculous. It's uh, it's like that that
- 44:40Speaker 6: Prime Minister from Great Britain that said he had the Uh.
- 44:44Speaker 6: I have my hand of a paper from a Chancellor Hitler. Oh,
- 44:49Speaker 6: I can't think of his name. What's his name? Yeah,
- 44:54Speaker 6: and he's he's they're like Chamberlain.
- 44:58Speaker 4: One of the things that I thought was really, and
- 45:00Speaker 4: we've got to do this good or break. There was
- 45:02Speaker 4: a big protest in New York City over the weekend
- 45:05Speaker 4: protesting the Iranian war. And I heard a clip I
- 45:09Speaker 4: was listening to the news yesterday morning on the radio,
- 45:12Speaker 4: and I listened and I heard a clip from one
- 45:14Speaker 4: of the students that said, one of the young people
- 45:17Speaker 4: I should sag. I'm presuming you're a student who said
- 45:19Speaker 4: something to the effect of Iran doesn't have nuclear capabilities.
- 45:23Speaker 4: They signed in agreement saying they don't have them. Oh well, okay,
- 45:28Speaker 4: long as yeah, yeah, they signed it over sure, sure,
- 45:32Speaker 4: all right, We've got to take a break to Dave

- 49:11Speaker 6: See, there's the problem we have here is and we're
- 49:14Speaker 6: not going to do it. You need ground troops.
- 49:19Speaker 4: You don't think ground troops go in at some point
- 49:21Speaker 4: with US?
- 49:21Speaker 6: Yeah? No, okay, won't happen.
- 49:24Speaker 4: Texas Americans led an attack of US capital. But this
- 49:27Speaker 4: was a beautiful thing and all of them were political
- 49:29Speaker 4: prisoners and hostages. Am I right, Danny? Or do your
- 49:31Speaker 4: ethics apply only to killings that you like, I think
- 49:34Speaker 4: you were pretty clear, like I was about January sixth,
- 49:37Speaker 4: You and I were on the same page there.
- 49:39Speaker 6: I think that's somebody I was on the side of
- 49:42Speaker 6: the list. Cheney.
- 49:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 49:44Speaker 6: And in her book, by the way, Mark Wayne Mowins,
- 49:48Speaker 6: the guy just got appointed to he was in charge
- 49:53Speaker 6: on the house. He was a member of the House
- 49:55Speaker 6: then and he put himself in charge of the women.
- 50:00Speaker 6: And he told Liuz Cheney, he says, see that door
- 50:02Speaker 6: right there, go through the door, take you know, take
- 50:06Speaker 6: them with you. She said, got it. So the women,
- 50:11Speaker 6: you know, to try to to try to get away
- 50:14Speaker 6: from because they were just about to break in the
- 50:16Speaker 6: in the front door of the and that's when they
- 50:18Speaker 6: shot Ashley Babbitt.
- 50:20Speaker 4: Zeck says, I think it's funny American history with Iran
- 50:23Speaker 4: only goes back to nineteen seventy nine. At events after
- 50:25Speaker 4: that before nothing.
- 50:28Speaker 6: Well, in nineteen fifty three they had Mozedic and we
- 50:34Speaker 6: the British and US, we helped overthrow him. He was
- 50:45Speaker 6: he had some views that he first singing nationalized the oil,
- 50:51Speaker 6: which costs our country a lot of money. But the
- 50:56Speaker 6: second thing was we were in the middle of the
- 50:59Speaker 6: Cold War and he had some pretty warm relationships with
- 51:03Speaker 6: the Red Bear, so he I'm not sure, but then
- 51:09Speaker 6: we put the Shaw back in charge. So do you
- 51:12Speaker 6: want to if you want to look at something we
- 51:15Speaker 6: we own that maybe we shouldn't have done, or wasn't
- 51:18Speaker 6: the right thing to do, or wasn't the moral thing
- 51:20Speaker 6: to do, that wouldn't have been it.
- 51:22Speaker 4: Danny Jones always a pleasure to having any show. My
- 51:25Speaker 4: hang out with me. Here one second, TJ Meadows coming

- 51:53Speaker 4: not harmful.
- 51:54Speaker 12: He says this legislation in the court case in West Virginia,
- 51:57Speaker 12: we shouldn't have done it. So we'll talk to him

- 52:13Speaker 4: was a shot he took. I think read my commentary today.
