  with us for another car talk. It's we're past Memorial Day on into baseball

  season. The Dungeons Fort Indians are off to a great start. Oh they

  are, yeah, and just a great team. Great to see the multi
• 0:32
  generational Oh yeah, impact we've had there where kids of you know, of
• 0:38
  players from you know, a couple of generations ago. We're playing again and
• 0:43
  it is such a great time of the year for us down at the ballpark.

  And I brought in a friend of mine from Bartlesville Bikes. Here's Jason.

  It's so great, great to have you here. Yeah, we have

  some wheels in the room. I want to hear about Bartlesville Bikes and everything

  going on out there. You know, you have such a I was looking

  last year. I had a bike problem. I needed to have my bike

  worked on, and I googled is there anywhere around here we can do that?

  And I discovered your little business. Uh. And it's been great to
• 1:18
  you know, just to know you a little bit. And uh say,

  tell us about that business. How when did you start it? Actually going

  on a year this month, Uh huh. So it's pretty pretty brand new

  when we got when I ran into you then, very new, but just
• 1:32
  something I've kind of always wanted to do on the side. Yeah, turn

  into a full time thing. We need we need one here. Yeah.

  No, it's awesome to have. I mean just you know, hanging out

  in the lobby here as we were waiting to come in, we you ran
• 1:45
  into some customers and potential customers and people are finding you there. That's it's
• 1:49
  awesome. And you know, we people also often use their vehicles with bikes,
• 1:56
  and you know this time of year, people going off and have fun
• 2:00
  in the summer, taking a bike with them is really common. And and
• 2:05
  we see that all the time every day up and down the highways, just
• 2:07
  bikes all over the vehicles. Yeah, yeah, no. And anyway,

  so we're still dodging the storms everything out there at the dealership and I'm sure
• 2:19
  bikers are too this time of year. It's yeah, it's not fun.

  Well, we've had We've had to pull our cars in off the lot a
• 2:30
  few times into the showroom and we do the best we can. Not sure
• 2:32
  about tonight, I don't know what we were looking at. We're looking at
• 2:38
  some showers and creeping in about noonish, a little bit afterwards, and did
• 2:40
  a whole lot of rain tonight, and there's some rain tomorrow morning. But
• 2:45
  by the time they kick off SunFest, well, yeah, no, it's
• 2:49
  a big, a big weekend this weekend with SunFest here and Bartsville out at
• 2:52
  Center Park, and we've got the Pioneer Days and No Water, a great
• 2:57
  event. We had them on the radio show last week and they came out
• 3:00
  and uh, you know, that'll be a lot of fun tomorrow. Lots
• 3:05
  of great events going on all over this weekend, so go check it out.

  So tell us about a little bit more about your business. You sell
• 3:15
  bikes, repair bikes, and now you've gotten into pickleball. I understand that's
• 3:19
  correct and real big in the cycling and pick a ball is something that we've
• 3:23
  all gravitated towards as well. My whole family plays daily, okay every day.
• 3:28
  And now that you know the city here has got their pick a ball
• 3:30
  courts, they are almost completed. Uh huh. Someone they need a place
• 3:34
  to get their their accessories and their pedals from. So let's jump in and
• 3:38
  do that as well. And do you have a specific brands of bikes that
• 3:42
  you feature or specialty stuff. I know you've been a rider for a long
• 3:46
  time, right right, and tell us about what you do well as far
• 3:52
  as at the shop, I'm a authorized retailer for Fuji brand bikes, so
• 3:57
  they do all range from kids to adults, ration into racing bikes, se
• 4:01
  racing. They do a lot of BMX Retro BMX and then Tuesday Cruiser bikes.

  Okay, there are a few other brands I can get that kind of
• 4:11
  offer the same line of products jamis and I'm all the full range of bikes
• 4:16
  for pretty much everybody. And like I said, you brought my mountain bike
• 4:21
  in to you and you did a great job taking care of that. And

  I love to see the biking community grow around here. Tom, you'd mentioned
• 4:29
  you we got two bikes in our house, some bikes around your house.

  Zoom, I don't zoom as fast as I used to, but zoom,

  it's not about the speed you go sometimes I guess it is. Yeah,
• 4:44
  enjoy the environment outside. You know what, my mountain bike. I learned
• 4:48
  to love that up in Colorado when we go in the summer and get on
• 4:53
  those single track trails and you know, as those have been growing around our
• 4:57
  area here, great trails out at Hudson Ake and Claremore and Tulsa and Ponka
• 5:03
  City, so lots of great trails. So you're seeing more of that,
• 5:08
  of people bringing mountain bikes in seeing more of that. I may add on
• 5:12
  the Pratt who's done the been in charge of the trails at the lake.
• 5:15
  He's done an amazing job of expanding the trails and he's worked with the Eagle
• 5:19
  Scouts and they were working on the other side of the lake adding more trails.
• 5:23
  They're working on that, and yeah, it's great and getting a lot
• 5:28
  more people interested in getting out there. Yeah. No, that's been a
• 5:30
  long time coming. I know, been a few efforts to get things going
• 5:34
  and the build some trails. But it's great that it's really taken hold and
• 5:39
  and that it's a local group doing it and on dn't really needed a lot
• 5:44
  of resources. No, it's it's great and the people come together. It's
• 5:46
  good group of friends gives them something and do just it's it's a great resource
• 5:51
  to have. Yeah, and lots of other good stuff going on at the
• 5:58
  viewership. I know it's been another busy. We've had a lot of inventory
• 6:00
  coming in and lots of sales, a lot of people taking advantage of great
• 6:04
  interest rate offers. We've got lots of deals on trucks right now. On
• 6:12
  F one fifty Tundra, I think on the Tundra right now, you can

  I want to ask you some more stuff about the bike shop. I

  know you live here, You've been riding bikes for a long time. How
• 6:56
  did you end up in Bartlesville? And cycling is part of it. You
• 7:00
  know, I've traveled around and when I was young, I just I was
• 7:03
  energetic. I wanted to see what the world was like. I didn't fit
• 7:06
  the normal mold of going to school, getting a job, work, retire,
• 7:10
  then travel. I think I've gained a lot of experience traveling around,
• 7:14
  riding, racing, and now they have a family. It's ultimately what made
• 7:19
  us choose Bartlesville. It was a great place. My wife'srom a small town
• 7:23
  in Iowa that actually our hometown, and Iowa just got hit with that big
• 7:27
  tornado. We live in Greenfield. You did, Yeah, goodness, that's
• 7:31
  awful. So I mean, we saw they did a news thing on the
• 7:33
  radio or on the TV, and they actually drove down our street in our
• 7:36
  neighbors across the street the house foundation. Oh my goodness. It was pretty
• 7:42
  pretty frightening there. And we've seen that around here in the last few weeks.
• 7:45
  I was talking to some cardialer friends and they've had impact on their lots
• 7:49
  and it's so frightening when those big things moved through. It's rough. But
• 7:54
  no. We we moved to Tulsa a few years ago. Actually in twenty
• 7:58
  eighteen. We came up peer to visit. We heard some good things about
• 8:01
  Bartlesville, and my wife just it's like all the pressure went away. Just
• 8:07
  a big smile came on her face. My kids were having a blast.
• 8:09
  We felt safe, like let's just do it. Uh huh. We did.
• 8:13
  And now you have Bartlesil bikes in the mall, which is kind of
• 8:16
  interesting. Yes, yes, very interesting. Usually outside you know, parking
• 8:20
  lot and outside entrance, but the mall is it's it's this big building.
• 8:26
  There's so much available available space. It needs to be used. And I
• 8:30
  think we need to bring more people back in there. And I think great
• 8:33
  point where the mall has evolved a lot in the recent years, and some
• 8:37
  different businesses have come and gone out there, but having it keeping it going
• 8:41
  and bringing people in there is a great and it's great to see your business
• 8:45
  be successful out in there, definitely. And so tell a little bit of
• 8:50
  people how to find you and how to get to uh you know, the
• 8:54
  best way to contact you. Yeah, well, you know, I'm inside
• 8:58
  Washington Park Mall on the more of the east side, So if you came

  in the main entrance, he heading more towards Dillard's. He used to be

  a Journey's Shoe store. So I got the cool funky colors in the wall

  and wives like that was that was that sealed the deal for me. I'm

  like, yeah, man, you gotta do this. This is it.

  You know, tile floors on, it's a vacuum and clean, you know.

  Yeah, much easier. So yeah, I'm inside. I wish I

  had an outside entrance, but I don't. But that's fine. You wheel

  your bike right on in. You know, you've got a website Bartowsville Bikes

  dot com, so kind of the Northeast entrance there where you can go in

  and it's actually pretty close to your shop. That's usually the easiest in Northeast
• 9:37
  entrance. It used to be a western store. Now it's a martial arts
• 9:39
  studio. There's usually not a lot of traffic on outside. Park right up
• 9:46
  front, wheel right in your bike in. Yeah. I didn't the first
• 9:48
  I bring that up because the first time I came in, I was like,
• 9:52
  well, what do I do here? Yeah? But so just wheel
• 9:56
  it right in. He'll he'll take it from there, and you tell us

  your what are your shop hours and how does how does when are you there?

  Well? Right now I'm Tuesday through Friday noon to six Saturday eleven to
• 10:09
  five. Okay, I was anticipating maybe opening back up an extra day,
• 10:15
  maybe on Monday. Just be closing Sundays as of right now. That's where
• 10:18
  I'm at. If I change it later, I'll update that through Facebook and
• 10:22
  the website. Yeah, you have a great website. I checked that out

  this morning, so you can get a lot of information there if you just

  google Bartlesville Bike sh It's easy to find and great, great resource for you.

  Try to make it easy and try to make things simple. I don't

  want too much of a mess with the website. Just to the point.

  Well, but that's you have to offer a full range of services. You

  know. I mentioned I had a flat tire and brought you the bike out
• 10:48
  there. You do tune ups, you do all kinds of service and you
• 10:52
  know, so it really was an expensive, great value. So I'll just

  give you a lot of compliments for that. Appreciate that. On top of

  the bikes, accessories, repairs, I do bike fits. A lot of
• 11:05
  people may not really understand the importance of bike fit, but if you get
• 11:09
  serious, you want to make sure it's set up right for you, otherwise
• 11:13
  it can lead to injury. It's a more enjoyable experiences, safer. It
• 11:16
  can make a huge difference in the quality of your ride. And you know
• 11:20
  just that, especially as you're serious and spending more time on the bike.

  Oh yes, And I've worked with law professionals and world champions and world class
• 11:30
  athletes, and at that level it's it's very important to get like a perfect
• 11:33
  bike fit. With their triathletes. There's a lot more involved with that,
• 11:37
  and road bikes more so that than mountain bikes or recreation, but still important.
• 11:43
  Yeah, no, it is, and so help with all that.
• 11:46
  And then pickleball. We mentioned that you've got some pickleball accessories and things like
• 11:52
  that. And our courts are just about are they about done? I'm not
• 11:56
  sure about done. It looks like they're doing the shade structures yet for the
• 12:01
  seating, and they'll do the nets will come up last. They don't want
• 12:05
  people going out there I as seen playing until they're all done. It's getting
• 12:07
  close. Great deal. And so another update on the stuff going on to
• 12:13
  the dealership. You know this, We've been talking the last few weeks about
• 12:18
  the brand new land Cruiser that will be out our Toyota land Cruiser. Really
• 12:22
  excited about that return of the land Cruiser. I see you're not in your
• 12:26
  head. We've I was on this morning looking at some of the chatter online
• 12:33
  on land Cruiser and there, uh, there's a lot of talk about adjusted
• 12:37
  dealer markups and these uh over some of them being overpriced, and we're not
• 12:41
  doing that. It done just we don't typically mark preams up over MSRP.
• 12:46
  That would be very rare and you know, uh, but the truth is
• 12:52
  the land Cruiser is a very rare vehicle, and so what we're asking people
• 12:56
  to do is kind of apply uh and get in the line to have a
• 13:01
  chance to purchase the vehicle. You can go on our website click there,
• 13:03
  answer a few questions, and we've got now three of them allocated. We're
• 13:09
  going to select a winner from the group that applies for our first edition that
• 13:15
  we now expect to be out in early July. We should be getting our
• 13:18
  first one. They've been delayed a few weeks, as I guess. What's
• 13:22
  happened is that some of them were built without skid plates, and so they're
• 13:26
  they're being held at the port and they're going to ship some skid plates in
• 13:31
  and install them at the transportation center where they bring the vehicles before they go
• 13:37
  out to the dealers, and so that's been it's delayed our arrival about a
• 13:41
  month, so but you can get what. We'll keep you informed as we
• 13:45
  get closer to the arrival of those vehicles. We do have the first edition
• 13:50
  coming in a nineteen fifty eight model, which is hearkens back to the original
• 13:56
  land Cruiser, and then a base model already. So we're starting to see
• 14:01
  those come in and some good selections, So reach out to our sales team
• 14:03
  if you want to talk about Land Cruiser. Another thing that's been really a
• 14:09
  big deal on the forward side this last couple of weeks is our mobile service
• 14:13
  and pick up and delivery. We're just seeing more and more of our customers
• 14:18
  take advantage of that and it's a thing where we can actually come to you.

  A lot of the over the air software updates and different kinds of recalls
• 14:28
  and program and we do on your vehicle can now be done wherever your vehicle
• 14:33
  is. We have a little escape that we've equipped with some software and special
• 14:37
  equipment that we can go to you and actually do the services in your driveway
• 14:43
  or parking lot, and then we'll also do pick up and delivery, Well
• 14:48
  we'll get the vehicle and bring it in and take it back to you.
• 14:50
  You don't, just to make it more convenient for our customers. Getting great
• 14:56
  reviews on that. I think this month over twenty percent then of our repair
• 15:01
  orders and forward or that kind of mobile service or pick up delivery, which
• 15:03
  is a big, big bump from where we started a few months ago.

  People were a little bit hesitant because it's a new service and new offering,
• 15:13
  but it's starting to really pick up and it's more people hear about it.
• 15:16
  I'm sure it's going to be very popular. It's a great way to just
• 15:22
  make it more convenient. You know that that whole process of the write up
• 15:26
  and the movement of the vehicle in and then around and dispatching it to the
• 15:31
  technician, getting all the parts and all that, it can take a little
• 15:35
  bit of time. And by moving vehicles doing some services in your where the
• 15:41
  vehicle is without having to bring it in, we clear we make our whole
• 15:45
  shop more efficient. So it really is a great thing and allows us to
• 15:50
  speed up the work for everybody. And so if you're meeting service, we
• 15:56
  offer this on virtually all makes and models. There's a limited air area.

  We can do the pick up and delivery in but if you have questions to

  just reach out to our team and you can schedule that service online or just

  call us and then ask questions if there's If you're still just wanting to come

  in and get your oil changed and don't need it and you don't don't want

  or drink afterwards. Kind of creative community a little bit. I know it

  exists around here. There are a lot of bike riders. You see them

  out and so I think you need to kind of have a hub for that.

  Tom mentioned you played at a bike biker bar. Be quite honest with

  you, he's kind of neat at first. I had ever seen that before.

  It's pretty cool at Tulsa called Sound It's a neat place. And so

  we know that community exists out there very much. And lots of events go
• 18:07
  on in Tulsa, so big bike rides and they'll have their big one coming
• 18:12
  up here in a couple of couple week weeks, I think, And I
• 18:17
  know Malcolm my friend Malcolm McCollum is highly involved in organizing that event. And
• 18:22
  you know, we were dungeus with sponsors of the Tulsa Wheelman for years back
• 18:26
  in Tulsa, back in the day in the eighties and nineties, and sponsors
• 18:30
  of the Tulsa Triathlon when it was started. My father was a great glove
• 18:36
  biking and and those kinds of events. And got to meet Lance Armstrong when
• 18:41
  he he was a teenager actually and came to be in the Tulsa Triathlon and
• 18:51
  it was really a lot of fun. And so it's good to see that
• 18:53
  that's going and we still we have a kind of a pioneer here in Bartlesville

  hoping to expand that community. So what else I've got? You know,

  another thing I wanted to mention about the different opportunities we have at the dealership

  Panel, the coach, will be able to come in on the show'd be

  great invited to have him come in and we can talk more about baseball and

  what's going on this summer, the team and what their expectations are. I

  know it's been they've had a great start and lots of runs scored and not

  money scored on there, so lots of excitement and they're a Legion team again.

  Yes, it's great to be great back in the roots of American Legion.

  You know, Jason, we've been. This is a unique thing about
• 22:26
  Dungeons as we're in the Guinness Book of Records for being the longest corporate sponsor
• 22:33
  of a sports team in the world. Wow, my grandfather starting sponsoring American
• 22:38
  Legion baseball in Bartlesville when he first came here in nineteen forty and that one
• 22:47
  of our employees send it all in to get us a few years ago and
• 22:52
  they sent us a plaque mentioned in that. But you know, you think
• 22:56
  about all those years, and I mentioned that different generations of players that we've
• 23:02
  we've had go through there, and coaches and players and and you know,
• 23:06
  it just it's a really community driven thing. The boys of Summer they get

  out there in that great stadium and and uh, you know, get to
• 23:14
  be in the spotlight and they're you know, usually these are the best players
• 23:18
  around in our area. And so that that American Legion Majors team at the
• 23:25
  top of the that amateur baseball world before many of them go off to college.
• 23:30
  It's just a great time. And in all the work the families put
• 23:33
  into it. My kids didn't play baseball. We did, we chased other
• 23:37
  balls, but that, uh, that whole anyway, it's just a great
• 23:41
  thing. And I think that John and the team we're after another great summer
• 23:48
  and really looking forward to going to some baseball games. You know. One
• 23:52
  of the great things when you go into Bill Dungeons Stadium, uh huh,
• 23:55
  is that they've got these great, big, old black and white pictures of
• 23:59
  all these old baseball teams span over one hundred years. Yeah, and it's
• 24:03
  just so cool. You're you know, you're someplace special, and then when
• 24:06
  you walk in and you take a look at that, it'll take your breath
• 24:11
  away. If you're a ball player, it will, it will, it
• 24:15
  really does. It is a beautiful stadium, great stadium, and that whole.
• 24:18
  I mean, some of my great best memories growing up and hanging out
• 24:23
  with my grandfather we're down at the stadium and eat you up for just about
• 24:27
  every game. He went to every game, and you know he may not
• 24:30
  stay for long, No, he was not still, No, he was
• 24:33
  there. He would pop in and stay there and talk to the team and
• 24:37
  the coaches and we bolt usually, but you know, he was a great
• 24:41
  guy to hang out with. I think we need to make it a summer
• 24:44
  tradition for my family watch some games. Yeah, definitely check it out.
• 24:48
  And yeah, there'll be that air conditioning. Got these great big fans of
• 24:52
  helicopter blades out there with the air moving. And there have been some great
• 24:56
  baseball players play out there. Mickey Manno played in his youth and and it's
• 25:02
  all the way up to Jacob Hall pitched in the college world, that's right.
• 25:04
  Yeah, And who knows who's going to play out there this summer that
• 25:08
  will be playing next year in the in college or or somewhere else. A
• 25:14
  couple there are a couple of really talented players. And I did we don't
• 25:19
  want to fail to mention again at SunFest weekend here in Bartlesville if you're if
• 25:25
