- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Hello everyone and welcome to a very very very special episode of Six Figure Certified.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_01]: I am joined by quite a group of people I know sometimes I don't even have a guest.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_01]: So today I have
- 0:15[SPEAKER_01]: eight wonderful guests on and we are going to be doing a round table episode.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_01]: All of our guests here are either IGC, IGC coaching school, students, or graduates before we started recording, which I should have probably started recording this because it was fun.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of people didn't even know each other because there's like six or so years.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_01]: between some of our graduates and current students.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: So we have quite an exciting conversation planned today where you're just going to ultimately get an inside look at what a coaching career can look like.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: I think often on the internet, we just see this one style of coaching, right?
- 0:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like one on one client's build a social media presence, sell one on one packages, maybe sell group programs.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: But at IGC, we have seen women come in from all different walks of life.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_01]: And really package their coaching expertise in a multitude of different ways.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_01]: So instead of me yapping about what that could look like, I'm going to give you some proof because I like proof myself.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_01]: So without further ado, I want to first introduce our beautiful roundtable today.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm going to start with you, Sarah Smith Warren.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_01]: Hello, hi.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_07]: Thank you so much for having me.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_07]: Sarah Smith Warren, coming to you from Fargo, North Dakota.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_07]: My business is the sole space work.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_07]: And I went through IGC in spring 2021.
- 1:46[SPEAKER_07]: And before that, I worked 15 years into an in-nom profit in community development and economic development.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_07]: Then I went into the entrepreneur's space and opened my own photography company.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_07]: And then I was like, ooh, I need something more.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_07]: I hired my first coach and then that was sort of like dipping my toe end of what coach and even was.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_07]: So that's my story happy to be here.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_07]: Awesome.
- 2:07[SPEAKER_07]: Thank you.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_01]: And Eve, Karmona.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_05]: Hey, everyone.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_05]: I'm Eve Kermona.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_05]: I actually started 15 years of accounting and transition into wealth building strategies, which is the coach.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_05]: And I'm implementing all the accounting expertise.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_05]: I learned and transitioning those into my current clients into learning better habits strategies and still look in a financial health industry and a whole different view.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_05]: So I'm happy to be here.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_01]: Awesome.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_01]: I love that niche.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_05]: Cool.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_01]: Teddy Stern Roseman.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_06]: Welcome.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_06]: Hello.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_06]: Thank you.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_06]: I am Teddy Stern Roseman and I graduated from IGC around this time last year and I'm prior to that.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_06]: I was a pediatric nurse practitioner.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_06]: I have shifted my focus into my business now, which is a beautiful nest living, and I'm so excited to be here.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_01]: Awesome.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_01]: And Miss Erin Perrin, so nice to see you.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_00]: Hello, how are you all?
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: I'm Erin Corrine and I'm originally from Chicago, Illinois based in Barcelona, Spain, but in Spain for now 14 years and my, my coaching practice is via my company, all of my familiar identity works, my personal brand is the identity and belonging coach and
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: I hope founders, creative visionaries kind of find their purpose and really make sure that they're staying focused on what they need in order to continue striving for their absolute best.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: So our focus specifically on life coaching, transformational astrology and impact strategy for the founders that I work with.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_01]: Fantastic.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_01]: Awesome.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_01]: And Kendall Daily.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_03]: Hello, hello.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_03]: I am the
- 3:59[SPEAKER_03]: Also do some work with the Mid-Atlantic Faith Foundation in coaching clergy around their missions and ministries, so I jokingly say, my career part of this is a cosontologist.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_03]: I've been listening for 34 years, so I jokingly say I'm an expert on listening, but I love mentoring, walking alongside people in growth.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, lifting people up, I say, believe in yourself, because if you don't, I do.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_03]: And I'll help you rise quicker than you would on your own.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_01]: So you, I think we all here can attest to that, Kendall.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_01]: 34 years of listening.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_01]: Truly, and you are an expert.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_01]: It's not a joke.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_01]: She's the best.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_08]: Awesome.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_08]: Laura, you're welcome.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_08]: Hi, thank you.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_08]: I'm really nice to meet you guys.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_08]: Laura Huggie coming from Plainville, Connecticut.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_08]: My background is in the military.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_08]: I was in the Marine Corps for five years, injured overseas.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_08]: So I've overcome some pretty, pretty crazy challenges.
- 5:09[SPEAKER_08]: And what I saw in myself was I lost.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_08]: self-confidence, like who I was, my entire identity through this process and like joined the school that has become my niche.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_08]: So I'm looking to serve as a confidence coach in a manner of people seeing themselves or maybe being like uncompromised.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_08]: protecting that bubble, you know, building themselves back up.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, some totally love in this.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: Awesome.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_01]: And Laura, correct you if I'm wrong, but you are a current student.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, ma'am.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'm awesome.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_01]: I'm the day one to the group.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_01]: So we have a range.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_01]: We need a range.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_04]: Thank you for being here and Samantha Samsonette.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_04]: Welcome.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_04]: Hi.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_04]: That's for me.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_04]: Awesome.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_04]: You sent Samantha.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_04]: But hi everybody.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_04]: My name's Samsonette.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_04]: I call myself a hybrid helping professional entrepreneur at this point because I wear a few hats.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_04]: I own a trauma informed coaching and consulting practice for service-based businesses and organizations.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_04]: I'm also licensed therapist and run a fully virtual mental health practice.
- 6:16[SPEAKER_04]: Then I also do corporate training and I'm an adjunct professor at my alma mater.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_04]: So out of a lot of side quests, but my work is really kind of at the intersection of mental well-being, leadership development, sustainable growth.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_04]: And I really am just out here helping people try to, you know, reach their goals without sacrificing their sanity or their health.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_04]: So that's me in before.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_04]: Before IGC, I went through the program in the spring of 2020, I was working for the Department of Veterans Affairs, so as a clinical social worker.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_01]: Awesome.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, Sam.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_01]: And Yoli, welcome Yoli Ray, the diamond standard.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_02]: So good to be here.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_02]: I'm Yoli Ray, and my company is called Sparkle and Soul International Integrative and
- 7:05[SPEAKER_02]: And my work lives at the intersection of identity and human design, I'm also a human design professional.
- 7:13[SPEAKER_02]: And I integrate that work into my practice a lot.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_02]: I call myself a self-image and identity coach.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_02]: And my work, the Diamond Standard is my new program that I am bringing into the world.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_02]: And it is all about helping women raise their standards and life and business to match their worth so that they can live the lives of the things they want.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_01]: Awesome.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for being here.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_01]: So hopefully if you're watching or listening to this someone's story or background or maybe even coaching niche now resonates with you.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: So lock into that or at least it hopefully these open your eyes to some of the possibilities but we're going to get a little bit more dialed in.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_01]: Unlike a traditional round table, I'm not going to have every coach answer every question to start.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: I've picked and chosen questions that I've, you know, based on stories or experiences or, you know, where they are now that I think will really resonate with our listeners.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to go through those questions first and then at the end I do have some questions that are open to multiple viewpoints or obviously if you're like, I have to answer that.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: Please feel free to unmute yourself and jump right in.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like this is a small enough group where we can kind of just do that.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, we'll just go as long as we need so that you feel like you've shared what is important and so that our listeners have an idea of what's really possible.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: So Eve, I'm going back to you.
- 8:41[SPEAKER_01]: I'm starting with you.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: What was your biggest hesitation before going into training and how did you make coaching fit alongside your already established career?
- 8:54[SPEAKER_05]: Okay, so my hesitation before starting I just see was pretty much figuring out how was I going to balance my career as an accountant and then add coach to it, mind you had to also just finish my MBA.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_05]: So I don't know why I dive into coaching.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_05]: It was just a calling at the moment that I figured I had to transition from consulting to coaching.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_05]: But it was just the balance, but then I realized coaching didn't have to be something new.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_05]: I could just add it to my current services, which I've coined the term coaching at times.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_05]: As I consult, I coach at the same time, but it's just been, it was just learning to balance, learning to appreciate, and really come from a deeper intention of how I was going to serve my clients as opposed to what else can I sell them.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_05]: And that was a great mindset shift because it did take me some time as I was learning to coach how to balance that how to ask Well, what can I do for you as opposed to what can we do or what can happen for you?
- 10:01[SPEAKER_05]: So those those questions the mindset the language really falls a lot of mind shifting to be able to a master, but I had an amazing mentor Kendall
- 10:12[SPEAKER_05]: So she really transitioned and helped me do that shift in my in my process because I there was a point that I felt that I wasn't ready for this, but it's just totally a mindset shifting.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_01]: I love that I appreciate you sharing all of that and I think you make so many great points like one being.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_01]: kind of an identity shift in like starting to see yourself as more or beyond or like an up level of your current career and I think there's often this belief that you have to become a totally different person and usually coaching, I've seen really successfully done as an extension of what you've always been doing and I also want to know this like consulting or what what did you coin the term?
- 10:55[SPEAKER_01]: Coach sulting.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_01]: That's very valid.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm sure everyone here can resonate with being both coach and teacher coach and mentor coaching, consultant, coach and astrologers, coach and human design expert, right?
- 11:09[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that's all part of the growing into coaching and using it as a transferable skill, not necessarily just an exclusive separate lane of your life.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_01]: So thank you for that.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_01]: And I see a lot of people nodding, I feel like we all kind of resonated with the youth.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_01]: Awesome.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_01]: Y'all leave your next.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: Also, I really like this background, you're in.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_02]: But thank you.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_01]: What was your biggest fear or hesitation before starting coach training?
- 11:43[SPEAKER_01]: And what do you know now about the person that you had to become?
- 11:50[SPEAKER_02]: Great question.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_02]: So one of, I had a lot.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_02]: I had a lot going on at the time.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_02]: So I think probably my biggest hesitation was making the investment in myself and in thereby choosing me because mom of three kids and.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_02]: It has been at home and all of the things that come along with that, you know, only how all of the things and responsibilities and just.
- 12:25[SPEAKER_02]: Was it my time to choose myself and make the investment in myself?
- 12:29[SPEAKER_02]: So that was probably my biggest hesitation because I had done all my research and knew it was going to be IGC.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_02]: And then just like, okay, am I ready to make this commitment pull out?
- 12:43[SPEAKER_02]: And what I had to learn was that it was okay to choose me.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was okay.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_01]: And oh, good.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_01]: If you could go back and tell her something that you know now, what would you say?
- 12:58[SPEAKER_02]: I would say something that you said a lot during co-chaining fact you actually ran this full program.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_02]: But on yourself.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_02]: And I would tell her you will never lose when you bet on yourself.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: I think Beyonce set up a for me.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_01]: I've got to give her credit.
- 13:20[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's definitely who said it.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_01]: But thank you so much.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, of course.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_08]: Laura, it's me.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_08]: That's a million times.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_08]: I can't, I can't, I can't.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_08]: My whole, like, trying to transition myself, but they don't do very well.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's okay.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_01]: My whole extended family is military.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm like, oh, I gotta remember to say the man in the surf.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_01]: What did you think becoming a coach would look like versus what has surprised you now that you're actually in training?
- 13:51[SPEAKER_08]: So I think really it's just the idea of coaching in itself.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_08]: Um, before I committed to this, I was like, how do I go back to school?
- 14:02[SPEAKER_08]: I got to be a mental health professional.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_08]: It's the only way I can help people.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_08]: And coaching has always been something that you've seen or you've heard of, but you're just like unsure.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_08]: I ended up to like Sarah hiring a coach just to see if this was like the real deal.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_08]: 90 days later, I'm like,
- 14:21[SPEAKER_08]: Oh yeah, I'm in this like it's coming.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_08]: So what I've learned about coaching is the idea of going with just curiosity and curiosity only I'm a helper I'm a tasker right angle really trying to like get me out of that and I really feel like there's like growth happening I even do it at home.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_08]: start asking my son different questions instead of suggesting things.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_08]: So I was like, really started to change our relationship too.
- 14:55[SPEAKER_08]: So it's been like beautiful inside and out.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_08]: But the idea of helping people help themselves, that was the magic button for me.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_08]: I'm like, wait a minute.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_08]: I can help them and then they can help themselves.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, I'm in.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_08]: Salt.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_08]: you know and like through the years like you talk to family reach out to friends and everybody has an opinion right based off of their own experience like it's not wrong but when my coach started to get me to find ways to do it myself I felt empowered I felt like I did this
- 15:34[SPEAKER_08]: And I'm running the show like I've controlled back in my life and then the confidence starts like it did it just started to come up shoulder start going back chin starts going up and you just view things differently, you know, it's it's beautiful.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_01]: That's so powerful.
- 15:50[SPEAKER_01]: And I just do things like one, the I hired a coach to I want to do this pipeline is a real thing.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_01]: I very much resonate with hiring a coach and having just so much transformation that I was like obsessed.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_01]: I think when you learn to that like you really do have autonomy and you can empower yourself and make changes.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's just.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's so cliche, but it just changes your whole life.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_01]: It does.
- 16:20[SPEAKER_01]: And what you said about I also have two sons and using coaching type questions with them, I feel like has, I don't know.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_01]: We'll interview them in 15 years and see if it's actually been beneficial.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_02]: But it feels kind of like here and now.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it feels like it's helpful as a parent.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_01]: I think coaching has been a great skill set to have as a parent for sure.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's great.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_08]: Hey, honey.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, our nurse.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 16:53[SPEAKER_01]: I want to talk about that because they do feel like you mentioned like or Laura had mentioned like I'm a helper and I feel like this we say and I do see like a lot of people.
- 17:01[SPEAKER_01]: Thrive as coaches when they've come from helping careers and I think nurses just the ultimate helping career so coming from your career as a pediatric NP what do you know now that you wish you knew when you first started coaching.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_06]: Yes, a lot of things, but what I know now is how, how much the skills that I used in nursing really transferring to coaching.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_06]: And so I say that in, I worked in pediatric ER and then pediatric oncology.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_06]: And so I was very used to listening to families, very used to having difficult conversations.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_06]: that I thought when I was going in to coaching that it would be a really big change because I was working with kids, but when you work with kids, you're really working with the whole family.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_06]: And so I found that the skills that I use to listen to families are the same skills that I use to listen to the women that I coach.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_06]: I helped
- 18:07[SPEAKER_06]: I am more skilled at bringing up a difficult conversation or saying something to someone that they maybe don't want to hear and doing it in a way that is accessible and then helping women then go have difficult conversations that they've been avoiding.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_06]: And so I think I thought I was totally changing what I was doing, but I'm still helping people.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_06]: It's just in a totally different
- 18:37[SPEAKER_06]: And that that gets to be great too, and so it's really cool to see how any background can really transition into this coaching and all of the skills that you have behind you even as a mom transfer into skills as a coach.
- 18:54[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I do feel like it's such a natural extension.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_01]: I actually didn't know that up like those specifics around your nursing career, but I can imagine that you have just you can you probably like acclimated to coaching really quickly from being inside of difficult conversations and being able to be.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: You know, an active listener holds space for all sorts of ups and downs and emotions and it's funny because they sound so different like life coach or but any type of coach versus like pediatric NP but there's a lot of
- 19:28[SPEAKER_06]: Yes, and a lot of learning to be the calm and someone else's storm, you know, I think it's really, it's really, really helpful.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_01]: You seem so calm.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like you would be the person I would want to talk to of something was not going right.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_01]: So, Hey, I'm here.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_01]: Natural skills.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_01]: Beautiful.
- 19:49[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_01]: And Sarah, I have you next.
- 19:56[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 19:58[SPEAKER_01]: When you think about your biggest win from coaching, is it the business you've built or the people you've gotten to impact, or is it something completely different?
- 20:11[SPEAKER_07]: I would say I'm very proud of the business that I'm building.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_07]: That feels so amazing, you know, when you come from somewhere else or working for someone else and then you create something yourself, that's amazing.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_07]: But I would definitely say from everywhere that I've always worked and where I've been drawn to, it's all about the impact that I'm making, which is why I love non-profit, which is, um, so that that like mission of why I'm even doing this is always
- 20:45[SPEAKER_07]: the foundation, the thing that I, that like just like um, roots meet grounds me.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_07]: When I was doing photography, um, I was really upset about this other photographer.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_07]: She was like, so like there was like some achines and I was like, all worried about what was going on out there and I have this friend that said, what, why do you do what you do?
- 21:11[SPEAKER_07]: Any time you like, um, feeling comfortable or you feel yourself waiver, just like hone into your mission.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_07]: And that, that thing that she said, just continues to follow me in my work.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_07]: So whenever I'm feeling, um, I'm not feeling confident or I'm self-congressing or anything, it's, what is the mission of what I'm doing?
- 21:33[SPEAKER_07]: And for what I'm doing, it is to pour into women, pour into humans.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_07]: And so when I think about the women who came in a extreme crisis in their career, and I hope them to take that leap of faith and open their own business.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_07]: And now they're just they're thriving, or somebody opening their own naturopath clinic.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_07]: It's that mission that means the most to me.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_07]: I'm, you know, and I've been impacted by those incredible coaches and coach mentors in my life and I've known what it's done for me.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_07]: And so the mission is like the roots.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_07]: And so that's what I go back to whenever I'm like, ow, spinning out of control or second-guessing everything.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_01]: That's very, very valid.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_01]: And I think even you've been in business for a while now, right?
- 22:24[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I have, I, yes, I say it when I moved to Fargo, I officially sort of relaunched my business in 2020.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_07]: I don't know what year, that 2022.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_07]: Okay, and so I feel this past four years have just gone all in, then it's been really incredible.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_01]: And I think you have to cling to that mission or what people would say is like your why because like filling out a spreadsheet or dealing with issues is never going to be the thing that like makes you want to get up in the morning, whether you work for yourself or someone else.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_01]: But I 100% agree and I've said this so much to Kendall.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, I need to hear about our students and I need to just be in more space with them and hear about their wins
- 23:11[SPEAKER_01]: that whole like rooted in the mission thing.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like everyone needs to hear that and go back to it often.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_01]: So thank you.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_01]: What else do we have here?
- 23:26[SPEAKER_01]: Sam, Samantha, what is an opportunity that coaching
- 23:44[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, there's so many, but the thing that stands out to me, the most is just the opportunity to reclaim time in my life.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I just was going a million miles a minute.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_04]: I carry so much responsibility coming into this industry coming into the program six years ago.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, workaholic, my name, my picture is next to that word, truly.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_04]: And starting my own business with zero business background, I thought I'm going to be working 24, seven now.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_04]: Like I was already working 12 hour days and six day weeks and stuff like that, but doing this has given me back time.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_04]: And that time has allowed me to do things that I now now,
- 24:34[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, I wouldn't have gotten to do.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_04]: I was able to be with my brother the last couple years of his life, intimately at his side, taking care of him.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_04]: I have been able to create time to go on trips that one, I never would have been able to afford, and to, I would have never had the time to take.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_04]: I think, also just time to care for myself.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, social workers,
- 25:01[SPEAKER_04]: We are just not good at taking care of ourselves and we come into the profession because we love taking care of other people and it's just it's a natural thing for us, but actually having, you know, right now I don't start my work day until 10 a.m. And just having three hour mornings to myself to do whatever it is I need this morning it was going to get breakfast with a friend after I had a really long workout at the gym just.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_04]: time is such a luxury and this yeah this path this career has given me opportunities because of the time I've gotten back in my life and yeah I would not trade that for the world so yeah
- 25:42[SPEAKER_01]: I had no idea how you were going to answer that, but I wasn't necessarily thinking that, and I'm glad that that's what you shared with everyone because I didn't even, like, it wouldn't be what I thought of, but I feel like it's way more important than everything, because I was thinking of all of your success stories and all these amazing things you've done.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, I think time is, we can't get it back.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_01]: So, beautiful.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_01]: Erin's got some sage or something going, and it's very beautiful in the camera.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, not live how not.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not as you're saying me.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm just kidding.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_00]: No, it's in sense.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not taking any energy out of here that needs to be here.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_01]: Now for you, what do you know now that you wish you knew when you started?
- 26:36[SPEAKER_01]: And what's become possible because you treated coaching like a real business.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_00]: Or where it's, this is so easy, this is so easy because it took me so many years to get to this response.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_00]: It's all life coaching.
- 26:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's all life coaching.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_00]: I don't care if you're business coach.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_00]: I'm care if you're money coach.
- 26:56[SPEAKER_00]: I'm care if you're relationship coach.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_00]: I don't care if you are a million dollars in one week coach.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_00]: I don't care.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_00]: It's all life coaching.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_00]: And I cannot tell you how many hours I wasted trying to find the perfect niche or the perfect personal brand name or is it in my creative coach?
- 27:14[SPEAKER_00]: And my creator is coach.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_00]: And my performance coach, who do I want?
- 27:18[SPEAKER_00]: When I figured out that it's all life coaching, I realized all I needed to do was look around me and my life to know who I am in service to.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_00]: that is how I figured this out.
- 27:30[SPEAKER_00]: And so, you know, my first couple of years were very much, well, I have to link this to music.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_00]: I have to link this to the thing I've been doing for the past 30 years, which, you know, my background isn't most people know my backgrounds in the performing arts.
- 27:42[SPEAKER_00]: I do still perform, but I took a sabbatical and my daughter was born during IGC.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_00]: My daughter was born while I was finishing leaders rising and for me,
- 27:50[SPEAKER_00]: The reason why you know for me it became so much easier to in a way take my business more seriously take life coaching like a serious thing that really helps people is to remember how I felt when I was coach for the first time something I share with a lot of people on the screen and I just remember thinking I don't know where I would have been if I had had access to a life coach when I was in college and I was going through my first identity crisis.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_00]: During my junior year, I don't know where I would have been if I'd had a life coach my second year in Spain when I was broke had $5 a day to go to the market and just make something up and go to jam sessions that I do not know how much faster I would have gotten to certain parts of my life, certain identities, certain roles, certain epiphanies if I had had access to a life coach before I became one.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_00]: So instead of trying to reinvent the wheel,
- 28:36[SPEAKER_00]: I came back to what became my centering statement as the identity and belonging coach, which is that identity is withdraws you to a person-place thing or idea, but the longing is what keeps you there.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_00]: That means identity is what you plug into, right?
- 28:52[SPEAKER_00]: But the longing is the actual power source behind it, right?
- 28:55[SPEAKER_00]: And so for me, when I figured out that,
- 28:58[SPEAKER_00]: All the artists in my life were struggling to build businesses or understand how to do their taxes or how to create something that people wanted to buy or market themselves.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_00]: But then all of the entrepreneurs and visionaries and people who were just wandering that I was meeting while I was living abroad, since I've been living abroad, didn't.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_00]: think that they were creative because they didn't have an arts degree or because they didn't sing as well as somebody else.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_00]: I realized, wow, I actually know both of those things.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_00]: I know the answer to both of those questions and I can help these people.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_00]: So let me be the bridge that helps artists understand that you can live from this and to help founders understand that, yeah, you are a creator, you know, and so I think that was a moment when I realized that
- 29:40[SPEAKER_00]: me as a bridge was in and of itself the product.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_00]: So I was able to just be the identity belonging coach, be a life coach for the people that I was drawn to and that we're drawn to me and that that has been the most freeing and profitable thing that I've been able to really step into it, especially in the last I would say three to four years.
- 30:00[SPEAKER_01]: So brilliant.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like every single person was also nodding when you were like, I wish I had a life coach at this point in my life.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_02]: And this point, yeah, 100%.
- 30:13[SPEAKER_01]: And when like the treating your coaching business like a business, what does that mean for you?
- 30:19[SPEAKER_01]: Like just really claiming that this title for yourself or this belief that it's all life coaching?
- 30:25[SPEAKER_01]: Like, is that helped you really center in on your business?
- 30:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, back to the name, the identity and belonging coach when I figured out that identity and belonging is the centering theme and all of the coaching I do, all of the roles that I carry as a mother, as an artist, as an entrepreneur.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_00]: I think I became less ashamed of stepping away from something that I had spent three decades building, which in my life was music and being always the top of my class, being out here abroad and learning multiple languages and that you know, I was able to feel less
- 30:58[SPEAKER_00]: affronted by the idea of stepping away from that identity and more empowered by the fact that that's just another part of my identity and once I released that chokehold on that title of being an artist or being a professional musician it made me realize that really what was powering everything else in my life was taking my business seriously was figuring out who I wanted to coach and why and finding more of those people that were willing to not just meet me where I was as then pay for it
- 31:26[SPEAKER_00]: But that freed me up to be more of the other things that I was.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_00]: So that was really the turning point was realizing that I'm not less of an artist because I'm a coach now.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_00]: I would because I make most of my money as a coach and when I realize that how much freedom as everybody's mentioned, you know, that being a coach and having my own business.
- 31:42[SPEAKER_00]: really gave me whether it was money, whether it was time, whether it was whatever type of freedom you imagine.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_00]: That's when I realized, of course, this is what I should be focusing on.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, this is a real business.
- 31:52[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, this is a real career because look how it's changed my life to be in control of this part of my business.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_01]: So good.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'm never going to forget that plugging in analogy.
- 32:04[SPEAKER_01]: You just gave us around identity and belonging.
- 32:07[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like that just locked in to my brain.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_01]: So I appreciate that.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 32:12[SPEAKER_00]: Glad it resonates.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_01]: Kendall, you're on mute just so you know.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you also come from what I would consider like a helping career as a former cosmologist, people often come to coaching and they're like, I've been coaching as a hairstylist or whatever people come into my chair and they fill their life stories and all of this.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_01]: And I also will say that like you have spent what 30 years or something as a cosmologist before coming into coaching.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_03]: I'm in year 34 still dabble so yeah.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, but like what was it for you that you finally decided because that's a long along running career to you know move into something different.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_01]: I know you still do some here on the side, but was there something that finally made you say.
- 33:04[SPEAKER_01]: Be ready to transition into something now.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_03]: Yes, 100%.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_03]: So here's what happened.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_03]: I moved 10 years ago.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_03]: And in my profession, you have to rebuild the clientele.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_03]: I was in my mid-40s and I was like, I'm not staying around.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_03]: We in people to knock on my door.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_03]: So after the move, we moved and didn't know a single person in the state of Maryland.
- 33:31[SPEAKER_03]: And after family, community and connection are my core values.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_03]: So,
- 33:39[SPEAKER_03]: I hired a life coach and the program I went through was a purpose clarity program to connect with your purpose with your, yeah, with your purpose and passions through work or service.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_03]: And as I was going through that and exploring options, it came really, really clear to me, like why am I not doing this.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_03]: I have so much like background in like this.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_03]: with being a hairstyles and a couple of other things I knew I wanted at that point of my life because I didn't know was this move and only or would we move again?
- 34:20[SPEAKER_03]: And I was like, I don't wanna have to be in this rebuilding stage again and again in my life.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_03]: So I wanted to be able to work from anywhere.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_03]: And oddly enough, in the last month, with some things back home in my home stay, I've had to be to Connecticut three times.
- 34:38[SPEAKER_03]: I do split a little bit of my time in New York City, and I'm in Maryland.
- 34:42[SPEAKER_03]: So the work from anywhere checks the big box.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_03]: Let me tell you all.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_03]: And
- 34:52[SPEAKER_03]: I just was like, wow, the other thing, once I made the decision that I was doing this, and I was pretty like when I make a decision, I'm pretty sure of myself and whatnot, I told to very, very close people in my life the first person laughed at me and the second person was like, what is life coaching?
- 35:09[SPEAKER_03]: So it was like all the more reason to prove them wrong.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_03]: So therefore, fast forward and here I am,
- 35:19[SPEAKER_03]: I love like helping build others up.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_03]: I, um, realize too, right, coaching.
- 35:27[SPEAKER_03]: I go back to kind of so much of what you all resonated with me today.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_03]: I have to say that.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I use the sprays.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_03]: Thank you for making my heart sing.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_03]: You have made my heart sing in big volumes today.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_03]: But, um,
- 35:41[SPEAKER_03]: A couple of things that really stood out to me was, right, Aaron, life coaching.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_03]: To me, sure not to niche people.
- 35:49[SPEAKER_03]: Don't make it overly complicated.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_03]: You'll figure out your niche as you go along.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_03]: And you don't have to have niche.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_03]: Just so I love that.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_03]: Freedom of time, time is valuable, right?
- 36:01[SPEAKER_03]: Like, I know Sam and a couple other shared that.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_03]: When I was growing into my coaching, the goal, I had a five year plan by the time my last graduated high school, I would be flourishing in my career.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_03]: It happened a lot quicker and I was able to roll with it and do it anyway.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_03]: And I think it was a good model.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_03]: It helped my relationships with my family, my friends.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_03]: I'm a much better communicator and a far better listener because I'm not trying to solve coaching is beautiful.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_03]: Our clients are the experts on themselves.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_03]: We're asking them to think and focus awareness into all these beautiful things that they haven't made time for themselves because nobody's been one-on-one and put them in the hot sea.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_03]: Um, so I say like my my biggest takeaway is like community and connection for sure this space.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_03]: Um, you know, I have a connection each and every one of you here, but um, I didn't know there were all these people in the world waiting for me to meet.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_03]: And until I moved and came to coaching, I would have never expanded and grown in the ways that I have on a personal level.
- 37:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, we talk about this all the time.
- 37:22[SPEAKER_03]: Like, change is so hard.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, but is it because nature changes every day.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_01]: That is true.
- 37:30[SPEAKER_03]: So, you know, believe in yourselves.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_03]: If you don't come, I'll give you the pep time.
- 37:39[SPEAKER_01]: Well, so it kind of let me refresh the listeners memory.
- 37:42[SPEAKER_01]: Kendall is like the principal, but like in a nice way, more of like the miss honey.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_01]: Like she's our training director.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_01]: So she teaches some of all the classes.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_01]: She meets every single new student as they come into the program.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_01]: And so she is serious when she says these things, like believe in yourself, or I'm gonna believe in you.
- 37:59[SPEAKER_01]: And I think everyone here can attest to the magic.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: And the,
- 38:03[SPEAKER_01]: leadership of our candle.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_01]: I know I couldn't do this without her, so thank you.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_02]: All right, we're going to move into our last few.
- 38:11[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to go a little bit of a lightning round.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_01]: But I'm like slow at the lightning round.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_01]: I try to do these on the end of guest interviews sometimes and it's like more like a slow rolling thunder.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, but I'm going to try to do this.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like naturally, like if a couple people talk at once, we'll have a couple answers.
- 38:27[SPEAKER_01]: All right, we're just going to wing it.
- 38:31[SPEAKER_01]: Number one, what's one thing people considering becoming a coach should
- 38:37[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, what is one thing people considering becoming a coach spend way too much time worrying about?
- 38:46[SPEAKER_02]: Mecing.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_02]: Mecing.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_02]: Can I do it?
- 38:49[SPEAKER_02]: 100.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_05]: How to market or transition from your current career into something, but the battle?
- 38:58[SPEAKER_08]: I'd say worrying.
- 39:00[SPEAKER_08]: Worring if they're good enough.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_01]: And if you go out with the charge, it's a big one.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, pricing.
- 39:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_01]: Awesome.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_01]: Other expensive.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_04]: I'm sorry.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_04]: Other people's opinions.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_04]: What, what their high school?
- 39:16[SPEAKER_04]: Well, to people they went to high school.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_04]: But I said, I'm sorry.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think it's about them.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_04]: What their boss would think about them.
- 39:23[SPEAKER_01]: So, yes.
- 39:25[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, judgment.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_01]: You know my strategy, block them.
- 39:28[SPEAKER_01]: Block on.
- 39:29[SPEAKER_07]: All right, let's.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_01]: What's something your pre-coaching self would have had a hard time believing about your life today?
- 39:43[SPEAKER_04]: You can make this much money.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_04]: That you can actually do it.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_00]: The add-on to that that I could make this much money without working on somebody's W2.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, right, that'd be anything or also that people actually buy coaching on a regular basis that like this industry is growing not all industries keep growing right and like ours has and if anything just society globally is like continuing to see the value and what we have to offer so yeah.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_07]: So good.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah, I would also say believing in yourself to echo someone else's story when I first told like a mentor friend and that I was going to go into a business like this.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_07]: She's like, who would pay for that?
- 40:33[SPEAKER_07]: That was what she said to me.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_07]: And I was like,
- 40:37[SPEAKER_08]: And it cried a little bit on my dry phone.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_07]: And then I was like, people are going to pay me for this because I'm fucking good at what I do.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_07]: Oh, sorry about that.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_01]: Look at this.
- 40:48[SPEAKER_01]: I love that so little.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_01]: That's fine.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not saying that.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_01]: I wanted to feel bad.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_00]: So I love, I love you for that Sarah because I said this is an open space.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_01]: But anything goes.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_01]: Sarah, say it again because she didn't edit that out.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_01]: We're not gonna.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_05]: I do wanna add to Sam's value point, a lot at least in my community.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_05]: It is life coaching is a no-no therapy is a no-no.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_05]: So just as ensuring to add the value and sharing your own story to how your life changed and how we can also change your life.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_05]: without pushing it too much, it's just knowing your community, I guess, how to address it, but I know the value.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_05]: I've been placing so much value in coaching and life and transition in habits that I've seen other Latina really engaged and like, well, what is that?
- 41:38[SPEAKER_05]: Coaching, okay, therapy, okay, let me look into that.
- 41:41[SPEAKER_05]: So it's really just adding the value and how you present it.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I feel like to eat it's also probably a bit of embodiment like you become the product and that's a magnetic feeling for people.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_01]: So even if they may be judged it or weren't open to it.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like you probably shine a little light on possibility for people whether they'll admit to it or not.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_01]: This is awesome.
- 42:05[SPEAKER_02]: I could add to that one of the things that I struggled with in the beginning of coaching is just who am I like my life is not together and you don't have to have it all figured out.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_02]: You don't have to have your whole life together to be support to someone and and also don't discount your lived experience like who am I to be a coach.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_02]: you've got lived experience that brings wisdom with it.
- 42:33[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, get certified of course.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_02]: But don't discount your lived experience as well.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_01]: A hundred percent.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_01]: One, it's all content, baby.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_01]: That's a rule I live by when something goes wrong.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_01]: But also,
- 42:46[SPEAKER_01]: Do you know this lesson when someone first enrolls an IGC and they get this course called Early Enrichment?
- 42:51[SPEAKER_01]: The very first lesson is writing down a hundred things about yourself that will make you or that like validate you or build your confidence to become a coach and it can be anything from like how you talk to your friends or things that you have gone through and I think all of that counts.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm really glad you said that, you're only because I too would have been like,
- 43:13[SPEAKER_01]: I know that when I signed up for coach training, I was like, I don't think this, like, I'm thinking my life is in too much of a mess.
- 43:20[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that is often the catalyst where people are, like, I need to change something.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_01]: So, great.
- 43:27[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_00]: We also underestimate the amount of people, so sorry, just one last thing.
- 43:31[SPEAKER_00]: We underestimate the amount of people that actually buy because they see where we're working progress.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_00]: I think that was a huge unlearning in the past six years and definitely something that connected back to being a full-time music coach, right, when I was performing is that, yeah, actually my students choose me because I'm on stage every week, you know, so why wouldn't your life coaching clients choose you because you're living life even the hard parts out loud every single week, every single day, so.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_01]: That's such a good reframe.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I agree.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_01]: It'd be so weird to open
- 44:04[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't be able to, and if we don't open up, then we don't get as much out of coaching, so.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_01]: All right, couple more, what's one thing you wish more people understood about building a career in coaching?
- 44:18[SPEAKER_01]: I have two things for this question.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_07]: One is, of course, get the training and an accredited incredible program, always.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_07]: But then don't be afraid to follow your vibe, your style, sometimes I feel like, especially in the beginning, I got so hung up out and like, oh, I have to do this this way and I have to post this way and I have to do, and it's all sort of just like,
- 44:48[SPEAKER_07]: No, you follow your heart and do it your way yourself.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_07]: That's what people are going to hire you as per your style.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_07]: And then the other thing going to an errand just said too, is like don't stop working on yourself.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_07]: Right.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_07]: Like, I'm not when when my son passed away, I, I, I found a grieve coach that went through grief.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_07]: Right.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_07]: I want, I want the like survivors.
- 45:15[SPEAKER_07]: I want the people who have done it were in the messy middle who know how to do it.
- 45:19[SPEAKER_07]: So like, don't ever stop working on yourself and your own growth.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_07]: And also, I will not hire therapists that doesn't believe in therapy and who doesn't have their own therapist.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 45:28[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_01]: So good.
- 45:34[SPEAKER_01]: I like that too.
- 45:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like I think you learn the core skills of coaching.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_01]: You feel, I think because you learn them, you feel more confident to then start exploring or expanding how you use your coaching skills or bringing in other modalities, bringing in your own style.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not a therapist.
- 45:50[SPEAKER_01]: So Sam, you know, obviously your background is also in mental health.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_01]: But like I feel like that's why to some people come from therapy to coaching so that they can free style a
- 46:04[SPEAKER_01]: maybe.
- 46:04[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, more creativity.
- 46:09[SPEAKER_04]: I was going to answer this and say, because what was the question?
- 46:12[SPEAKER_01]: What about about building a, what, what do you wish people knew about building a career as a coach or business?
- 46:19[SPEAKER_04]: You can learn business skills, you know.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_04]: Like, I had so much anxiety.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_04]: I was like, okay, I know I'm going to be able to learn how to coach, but I have zero business background, never took a class, where I'm from nobody does stuff like this, very blue collar or background environment, whatever, and you can learn the skills you don't have like just because.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_04]: you have how many ever years in your career, your whatever age, why do you like why are you putting pressure on yourself to know something you've never had the opportunity to learn?
- 46:48[SPEAKER_04]: So like learning how to market learning how to sell, learning how to file for an LLC wherever you're at, learning how to write off taxes like you can learn all of that and then obviously you can also
- 47:02[SPEAKER_04]: you can also go to a program like ours where that is taught.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_04]: The stop worrying about what you don't know, just like have a learner's mindset.
- 47:11[SPEAKER_04]: And if you lack the business experience, well, then you just learn it and you gain it.
- 47:14[SPEAKER_04]: And you'll learn a lot as you go.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_04]: So, because I just think, man, I have like heart palpitations in rolling because I was like,
- 47:21[SPEAKER_03]: had, you know, I have to like learn, do I need to go get my MBA?
- 47:24[SPEAKER_04]: Like, if you know, I mean, like, I literally had a thought maybe I need to go get an MBA in order to do this, which I know I'm sure would be helpful, but also you definitely don't need one either.
- 47:34[SPEAKER_04]: So the business skill stuff is so good.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I was just too naive at like in my twenties in 2013, I never even thought that far when I signed up for coach training.
- 47:46[SPEAKER_01]: It's a different time, but yes, very true, anything that you want to learn you can learn.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why we like our brains turned off around education for it's not everyone, but like after college, but I still, I'm like, what will I go back to school for next?
- 47:59[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 48:01[SPEAKER_01]: But yes, I think that's also comforting.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_05]: Go ahead, Eve.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_05]: Yes, I must add you don't need an MBA.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_05]: You don't need the education.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_05]: You just need to be authentically you and really believe that you're capable of just sharing your journey and then being able to help other see their journey and the value within them.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_05]: And ultimately is just knowing that everything will fall into place and I'm very connected with my spirituality.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_05]: So I know that the opportunities present themselves when they have to happen and just flow with it and just allow everything to be aligned and be true to yourself and everything just starts falling into place.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_05]: And of course, I must have a beautiful community that supports you and holds you accountable
- 48:51[SPEAKER_05]: and just believe what society thinks of you, right?
- 48:54[SPEAKER_05]: But the community is the core part as well.
- 48:57[SPEAKER_05]: So good.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_06]: I need to be able to say.
- 49:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, go ahead.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_06]: Yeah, I was going to say two things and one of them was that you don't have to do it alone.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_06]: when you think about starting your own business, it can sound really lonely.
- 49:10[SPEAKER_06]: And IGC has opened my eyes to the fact that there are so many women out there building businesses and why can't we do it alongside each other.
- 49:18[SPEAKER_06]: So that was one of the things I was going to say and the other is that it gets to be fun if you let it be.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_06]: It doesn't all have to be stressed and that you get to enjoy the process as well and that is okay.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_01]: So good.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_01]: I, why do we sometimes forget about the fun part?
- 49:38[SPEAKER_01]: I need to put that back in the that was actually my 40th birthday like commitment was to have more fun and to like find the fun more so I appreciate that go ahead Aaron.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was just going to say to this point to build on everybody's responses, I think when we clarify the reasons why we either go back to school, get another degree and do certification, whatever it is, when we make it about that's the only way that we have the credibility, the expertise, the experience, then you're always going to find a new thing that you don't know.
- 50:07[SPEAKER_00]: You're always going to fill out, you have to upscale, you have to re-certify or you have to get another 5, 4, 5, 6, 7 year education to be worth something.
- 50:16[SPEAKER_00]: But when we clarify, you know what, I'm going, because I want to give something new or I want to learn something new from my business, that keeps us in this growth mindset that everybody's talking about, right?
- 50:24[SPEAKER_00]: So just separating the reasons why we go and understanding that if we do it for the right reasons, that will only fill us rather than make us feel like we will never know enough.
- 50:36[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 50:37[SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_05]: The imposter syndrome.
- 50:41[SPEAKER_01]: I hate imposter syndrome.
- 50:43[SPEAKER_07]: Can I say one really quick thing?
- 50:46[SPEAKER_07]: Teddy reminded me of this.
- 50:48[SPEAKER_07]: I wanted to share.
- 50:50[SPEAKER_07]: There's two women that were in our group cohort when I went through IGC.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_07]: And for the past four years, we meet, we used to be twice a month, we just now became so busy that it's once a month for two hours to help each other with our businesses, brainstorm things that are going on, have a check-in, support each other.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_07]: And it has
- 51:17[SPEAKER_07]: is something that's just like giving myself and my business so much.
- 51:20[SPEAKER_07]: So I'm so also grateful for that, which was a byproduct of IGC, so not doing it alone.
- 51:28[SPEAKER_01]: So I know I'm like there's been so many best friends formed, people at each other's weddings, baby shower, like there's been a lot of really good friendships and I think.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_01]: Thank God.
- 51:39[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 51:40[SPEAKER_01]: Thank God, like most of my best friends are in this space now too.
- 51:44[SPEAKER_01]: So, all right, last one, we're just going to round Robin it and wrap it up, but finish this sentence, becoming a coach gave me the ability to fulfill my dreams.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_08]: I can't say anymore, I might cry.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_05]: Liberated me from all the lives I believed growing up and what society made me believe I had to be the liberation beautiful.
- 52:23[SPEAKER_02]: I want to echo you, but I was going to use the word permission.
- 52:27[SPEAKER_02]: And it was around everything she just shared like checking all the boxes doing all the things I was.
- 52:33[SPEAKER_02]: quote-unquote, supposed to do in order to be successful and be respected and all that could stuff and yeah, it gave me permission.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_06]: It would mean the ability to be the mom that I want to be, not just because I indulged my own schedule, which is huge, but it also allowed me to take her myself in order to take care of others.
- 53:03[SPEAKER_07]: For me, it gave me choice.
- 53:05[SPEAKER_07]: I get to choose the projects I work in.
- 53:09[SPEAKER_07]: I get to choose the humans that I bring into my space and into my work.
- 53:14[SPEAKER_07]: I get to choose what not to do and what I won't put up with anymore that I didn't have the freedom to when I worked in different settings.
- 53:25[SPEAKER_07]: choice and freedom.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_03]: Awesome.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_03]: Give me a light.
- 53:31[SPEAKER_00]: No, it's okay.
- 53:32[SPEAKER_00]: I was going to say becoming a coach gave me.
- 53:34[SPEAKER_00]: I would say both the skills and the courage to be all 360 degrees of myself at all times.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_01]: Courage.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 53:44[SPEAKER_01]: Go ahead, Kendall.
- 53:45[SPEAKER_03]: Leave me life in the longie.
- 53:53[SPEAKER_01]: We got everybody.
- 53:53[SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, you belong.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_08]: You belong, Kendall.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_08]: We need you.
- 54:01[SPEAKER_04]: I would say fun.
- 54:03[SPEAKER_04]: Like, I was, I used to be so serious.
- 54:05[SPEAKER_04]: I'm so on serious now.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_04]: I just like them see, gave me whimsy fun, creativity.
- 54:10[SPEAKER_04]: Things that I didn't, yeah.
- 54:11[SPEAKER_04]: I never would have like identified with a few years ago.
- 54:15[SPEAKER_01]: So good, and coaching gave me all of you and the hundreds of thousands of other students.
- 54:21[SPEAKER_01]: So I feel like just to finally answer one question, I think becoming a coach gave me a purpose, which I know is so cliche, but it's so true.
- 54:30[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like I have a lot of reason to keep going and wake up and like I see the impact of coaching on a daily basis and a lot of conversations.
- 54:40[SPEAKER_01]: And I just can't imagine my life without that.
- 54:45[SPEAKER_01]: fulfilling.
- 54:46[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I really appreciate you all being here.
- 54:49[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much.
- 54:51[SPEAKER_01]: When we post this, I will tag you all in the description or comments depending on where people are watching or listening from.
- 55:01[SPEAKER_01]: So if you are watching or listening and anyone resonated deeply with you or you want to connect with any of our coaches, feel free to find them on their social media accounts.
- 55:11[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll see
