- 0:01We can. Observe that there are times
- 0:03when the vital nature is energetic.
- 0:05Enthused, active and makes efforts.
- 0:10There are other times when it is dull, withdrawn, sullen.
- 0:15Lacking energy. And clearly is not taking
- 0:18interest in. Doing anything.
- 0:21The difference between these two states generally lies in the way
- 0:24the vital nature obtains its. Food in this sense is the method
- 0:30by which the vital nature becomes energized.
- 0:34Whereas the physical body is fed by imbibing material and
- 0:38converting it to energy, the vital nature is fed by taking in
- 0:43sensations. And energy from a variety of
- 0:47sources, including but not limited to, the energy created
- 0:52by eating of food. In the physical sense, the
- 0:56mother describes the various forms of sustenance that.
- 1:00Underpin the actions of the vital nature, the mother notes
- 1:05quote. In fact, the vital has three
- 1:08sources of subsistence. The one most easily accessible
- 1:13to it comes from below, from the physical energies through the
- 1:16sensation. The 2nd is on its own plane when
- 1:21it is sufficiently vast and receptive by contact with the
- 1:26universal vital forces. The 3rd, to which it usually
- 1:31opens only in a great aspiration for progress, comes to it from
- 1:36above. By the infusion and absorption
- 1:39of spiritual forces and inspiration to these sources,
- 1:44men always strive more or less to add another which is for them
- 1:48at the same time the source of most of their torments and
- 1:51misfortunes. It is the interchange of vital
- 1:55forces with their fellows, usually in groups of two which
- 1:59they most often mistake for love, but which is only the
- 2:03attraction between two forces that take pleasure in mutual
- 2:07interchange. End Quote Reference Sriorobindo
