A 25-year-old Spartanburg woman, Zaria Aiyanna Owens, has been sentenced to 21 years for shooting and killing her boyfriend, Tyquirez Sims, during a heated argument in August 2023. The confrontation, which occurred at an apartment on College Pointe Lane, ended with Owens taking Sims’ gun and phone, then driving off with their 3-year-old son after allegedly firing a shot.
