- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Good morning and welcome to Ag Squawk AM.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: Jed Sidwell here with AgBull Media.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: We're a financial channel that loves agriculture.
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: Today we're going to talk about this overnight rally that we saw in grains, where there's some more updates on the big bad bug, the new world screwworm.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: If you haven't been paying attention to this little skirmish we have over there in the Strait of Horror moves, it's done some interesting things to the energy side of things.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: We'll get to all of that here in a bit.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: Now they were at 101.65 cents up a dollar and thirty-eight.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: On the weather side of things, man, a mixed bag across the country of what we've seen.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: Florida's getting ready for a tropical storm.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: So is the Far East Coast over there.
- 1:29SPEAKER_00: But the big headline is that in kind of the corn belt into the hard red wheat belt, they've seen a lot of drought recently.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: Heat's topping about 95 to 100 degrees in the western corn belt and central plains, all the way in kind of to the middle of this week.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: They might see some kind of scattered storms and cooler temperatures then.
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: That maize crop over there is looking pretty dang crispy from what Craig Solberg, our meteorologist, says.
- 2:15SPEAKER_00: The Black Sea, however, caught a beneficial six to ten days of rain before it's going to start to dry out over there.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: So yeah, that wheat crop might actually catch some much needed moisture.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: But past that, we've seen an overnight rally in grains recently.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: And as I'm uh quoting the markets here with our trading software from plus 500, or the DS contract, uh new crop is at 40, is it 474?
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: SEP beans are at 1209, and Chicago wheat September is at 682.
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: And it's been, I guess, weeks now finally just chopped lower, I should say, but we have seen the past couple overnights really chop up and go higher.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: And it's really great.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: If you're worried about what things are going to do on the open Sunday night, Tommy's in the chair clicking the mouse then.
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: So if you're a subscriber, if you'd like to be a customer, just know that he's there as soon as it opens, and that's kind of one of the benefits we bring you here at AgBull Media.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: But on the livestock side of things, I figured I'd go ahead and give us a screw worm update.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: You know, we've talked about it plenty a month or so ago, but not much here recently.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: We're up to 39 total animal cases, and it's mostly stayed consolidated to that one area.
- 3:38SPEAKER_00: Now, there's two narratives you can say here.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: Well, it's kind of consider stayed concentrated to concentrated to that one strip and hasn't progressed too much farther into Texas, and we've kept it out of New Mexico since those first initial ones there, and we've done a good job of controlling it.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: Or you can say, well, all of our sterile flies and fly traps are right there along the border, and the screw worm seems to be skipping right there along the border and going just slightly farther, 150, 200 miles into the state.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: Whatever you want to think there, it's important to stay educated and stay updated.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: I encourage you just continuously kind of check the tracking from a livestock husbandry and just knowing uh what's going on in the state on our southern border because it's important to stay informed always.
- 4:28SPEAKER_00: The chart of the day, I thought this would be interesting to pop up here.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: That's the crude oil future.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: That's like a five, six dollar swing that we saw both up and down in the August contract last night.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: Big gap open, racing to highs, all the way down to lower by this morning, and yet we're bouncing back up again now.
- 4:49SPEAKER_00: As I'm speaking, it's at 82.16.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: The U.S.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: hit Iran for a ninth consecutive night with more attacks.
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: This is because we saw, unfortunately, another casualty over there.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: And the Strait of Hormuz traffic has slowed to the lowest level in three weeks.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: Unfortunate to see.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: But yeah, what it does to the energy markets is always pretty crazy overnight.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: Export inspect on the academic economic calendar, export inspections come out at 10 a.m.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: Crop Progress.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: It comes out at 3.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: I'm sure Davis will talk about some of that this afternoon and his afternoon show.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: If you haven't watched Davis yet and you're just a fan of the morning show, I highly recommend listening.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: He had Jared Dillion on on Friday, a trader with Nezvik Trading, but an author and a DJ as well.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: He his insights on the market are great.
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: He had a Wiesmeyer's perspectives this weekend as well.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: I encourage you to go to listen to that because Wiesmeyer, he is a truly a class act that is maybe as well informed as anybody.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: Well, everyone, thanks for watching.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: Thanks for listening.
