- 0:00Hello and welcome back to the episodes of Bands with Lorenz
- 0:02here. How are you all doing up?
- 0:03You're doing great. For today's episode, I want to
- 0:06talk about Maria Cheeky Benjamin.
- 0:09Now Maria Cheeky went viral. She was a Big Brother.
- 0:14She was in Big Brother house. But people, you know, she was
- 0:19just Ajibo half cars kind of. So some people liked her, some
- 0:23people did not like her. So she was cheerless, comes off
- 0:27somehow, but she had fans now when she came out, news surfaced
- 0:34that Maria Chiki was dating a married man.
- 0:38And the person I think was in 2022 who made it popular was
- 0:43Cubana Chief Priest. Cubana Chief Priest posted that
- 0:46Maria's new love interest Kelvin was his sister's husband.
- 0:56People were like your sister's husband.
- 1:00Why is Maria flaunting a married man?
- 1:03Why is Maria praising a married man?
- 1:05Because according to Maria, at that point, Kelvin helped her to
- 1:10get into Big Brother House. He literally prepared her,
- 1:13bought her things because I think they were they met in
- 1:16Dubai. So according to her, he was very
- 1:19instrumental in her getting into Big Brother House and doing well
- 1:22for herself. So when she came out being
- 1:26appreciative, she was posting him.
- 1:27She was, you know, talking about Kelvin, Kelvin Kelvin.
- 1:31So Cubana chief priest came out and said, this is the married
- 1:34man, this is my sister's husband that went viral.
- 1:39Text messages and voice notes was actually just lover that
- 1:43released text messages and voice notes of Maria calling Kelvin's
- 1:51wife to threaten her to say, oh, leave my husband, leave my
- 1:56boyfriend at some point when maybe because there were series
- 2:03of text messages, there was 1 when she was saying that, oh,
- 2:07leave him alone. And then there's another one
- 2:09when she was explaining that she, she, she was not aware that
- 2:12he was married, that he met, they started dating.
- 2:17He told her that he had children, but he never said he
- 2:20was married. I think they had a child
- 2:23together. So according to Maria, she was
- 2:25never aware that Kelvin is or was a married man.
- 2:32So after that, the the wife, Kelvin's wife filed for a
- 2:40divorce. Because I think Kelvin and his
- 2:42wife, they got married in 2013 or 20.
- 2:45They had a child. They did their traditional
- 2:46marriage. They had a child in 2013 and
- 2:50then they did their wedding in 2014.
- 2:52They moved, I think, to Dubai in 2016.
- 2:56And according to Maria, 2017, the marriage of 2018, the
- 3:00marriage was already over and the wife then moved to to the
- 3:07US. So maybe they were separated at
- 3:11that point. Maybe the marriage had
- 3:13officially ended, but they did not file for a divorce.
- 3:16You know how all these couples having problems, instead of
- 3:21sitting down to actually say, listen, this has ended, the
- 3:25husband maybe will travel to a different place or the wife will
- 3:27travel to a different place to family members.
- 3:30They are still married. Yes, they know that something or
- 3:34there's problems in the marriage.
- 3:36But since they have not officially told anybody that
- 3:38they are divorcing, people still ship them together.
- 3:43But in 2022, Kelvin's wife filed for a divorce.
- 3:49In 2023, Maria and Kelvin got married and then they had their
- 3:55first child in 2024 and then the second child in 2025.
- 4:00So these are, you know, since then they've been calling Maria
- 4:04a home wrecker, a side check. She they have called us so many
- 4:09things. And then in an interview with
- 4:11Judy, truly ask Maria, like, what would you say regarding
- 4:15those whole side chick drama that people have been shipping?
- 4:19You like your name. Anytime your main name is being
- 4:22mentioned, they always say that Maria is a side chick.
- 4:25So he asked her what she has to say.
- 4:27And this is her response to today.
- 4:30Unfortunately, three things have happened that people had talked
- 4:35about with regard to you and a married man.
- 4:38Yeah, yeah. And I guess it's an opportunity.
- 4:41I mean, I guess you cleared it. I don't know what you want to do
- 4:43with that, but so it's become an insidious meme.
- 4:47You know, first at the reunion, there was your fellow housemate
- 4:52Angel saying that. Then I think there was a guy
- 4:55called a Cubana high priest comes and sees that.
- 4:59So think of yourself as an an audience, as you used to be
- 5:04hearing all these stories and somebody says, wait, there's not
- 5:07a lady they called me about. So there's not a lady that Angel
- 5:09talked about. It's not a lady that Ubernachi
- 5:11priest talks about. What's going on with her?
- 5:13Yeah, what's happening in all the stories?
- 5:16I haven't actually ever spoken about this the allegations that
- 5:20I I am dating a married man or what I would say is, and I think
- 5:25I keep saying the same thing and it's boring now, but I'm going
- 5:28to try and just give a little insight.
- 5:31I actually wasn't aware whether or not he was married when we
- 5:36first started dating. There are personal stuff that
- 5:40went on that I'm not because because I think you actually
- 5:45recently did an interview as well with a lady and I watched
- 5:48it and there was something she said because she's an actress
- 5:52and because she shares her life like her personal like she
- 5:55doesn't. And I've always said that in my
- 5:57head. It was like she was repeating
- 5:58something I would say because it's like I don't owe people my
- 6:01personal life because I don't come out to say I'm a St.
- 6:04I don't come out to say, oh, learn like I'm your role model.
- 6:09Like no, I'm not anyone's role model.
- 6:10I am for me. And like whoever appreciates or
- 6:13loves me can try and want to follow my steps or whatever what
- 6:18I'm going to stand by. And that's the gospel truth.
- 6:20I didn't destroy any marriage. I have never and I would never.
- 6:23I mean, I'm the woman. I know how it feels when
- 6:27intruders come into a relationship or marriage.
- 6:29I know how we women feel hurt like oh, my husband or my man is
- 6:33having an affair or I know how it feels.
- 6:35I would never even try and do that to another woman because I
- 6:38wasn't the person who actually started all of this.
- 6:41And I'm not even in the place this, there's just so many
- 6:44persons stuff that would have to come out and I'm not ready for
- 6:46that. And not my personal stuff, other
- 6:49people's personal stuff. And it has nothing to do with me
- 6:52like and I would never shed light on it because I don't owe
- 6:54anyone that sort of explanation. OK, Maria Maria.
- 7:01Maria Maria Maria has been explaining, explaining,
- 7:04explaining, and the husband has not said anything.
- 7:07I think this is the problem with or why some women will refuse to
- 7:13marry a divorcee or marry somebody who had been married
- 7:18before, because it just comes with a whole lot of baggage
- 7:22somehow. They're going to accuse you of
- 7:25being the one who attended the marriage.
- 7:27You're going, they're going to accuse you of being a side
- 7:29chick. They're going to accuse you of
- 7:31being a home wrecker. Now, according to the story or
- 7:34according to what people have said regarding Kelvin's
- 7:42relationship with his ex-wife Onnier, they said that their
- 7:47relationship was very toxic. They once loved each other.
- 7:51I mean, for them to have gotten married and had a child, they
- 7:53once loved each other. They did traditional marriage.
- 7:56They did white weddings. So at some point they loved each
- 7:59other. They were both young when they
- 8:00got married. So the challenges of travelling
- 8:04abroad, the challenges of, you know, trying to, that's why you
- 8:09see a whole lot of abroad marriages end because at this
- 8:13point, the woman is expected to work and also be a home builder
- 8:19to take care of the home, while the man is also expected to work
- 8:24to be the provider. But he's still the traditional
- 8:27man whereby he's not expected to or he feels like he is not
- 8:32supposed to do any chores because those are women's
- 8:37responsibility. So most times those marriages
- 8:41have challenges and most times what happens?
- 8:44I mean, I know a whole lot of couples who according to them,
- 8:49they've separated but they are still married.
- 8:51Maybe the man will move from one state to the other, or the woman
- 8:55will move from one state to the other or sometimes even move
- 8:58from one country to the other. But they will not sit down to
- 9:01say, OK, this marriage is no longer working.
- 9:04Let us separate. Most times they just put
- 9:06distance between each other. The two people in that
- 9:10relationship knows that the relationship is no longer
- 9:13working. But once one of them move on and
- 9:17maybe the other one is not finding it funny with life, or
- 9:23maybe have them find their footings, or maybe it's just
- 9:26still salty because they were the ones that got left.
- 9:30Then you start hearing stories of, oh, he left me after 15
- 9:36years. After five years, we just got
- 9:39married. He left me with all these debts.
- 9:42Listen, I think the whole lesson is marriages end and for couples
- 9:54who are married who think that they are no longer in love or I
- 9:59would suggest go for go, go for therapy, go for counselling, try
- 10:03to fix whatever the issue is. And if that issue is no longer
- 10:08fixable, separate and separation sometimes will be making family
- 10:13members aware because you can separate as a couple and then
- 10:17your family members will be fighting you.
- 10:19Because in this case, it was actually Cubana chief priest
- 10:22that made it public. The wife, Kelvin's ex-wife never
- 10:27came out and said anything. Yes, she filed for a divorce
- 10:31because obviously he wants to then get married to to Maria.
- 10:35So he needs her to file for a divorce.
- 10:38But he he himself never filed for a divorce.
- 10:41I think that is where the problem is.
- 10:43Men are the problem. If you're going to get married
- 10:45or if you're going to date somebody who had been married
- 10:48before, ensure that they are divorced.
- 10:51Ensure that OK, maybe because if I think the, the challenge there
- 10:56is now, if you then come into the picture and ask him to go
- 11:00and file for a divorce, you will look like the other woman.
- 11:04So it, it is very challenging. It is very challenging.
- 11:08We all know or one or two couples who got married, who are
- 11:13no longer together, who that marriage had ended, but on paper
- 11:17they are still married. Then if one of them then want to
- 11:21get married, everybody will come back from the woodworks to say
- 11:25yes, this is a married man or this is a married woman.
- 11:29So it is very challenging. What would you do if you are
- 11:36somebody approaches you, somebody you like and after some
- 11:42time you realise that's OK? This this person was married
- 11:46before or this man was married before or he's still married or
- 11:50and this woman is still married but they are claiming that their
- 11:53marriage had ended. Would you, before even going
- 11:57into that relationship, seek confirmation from the other
- 12:00partner? Or would you say, OK, would you
- 12:02take them, take their word to say OK, yes, you say the
- 12:08marriage has ended. I believe you.
- 12:10Or if they say they are not even married, yes, they, they, they
- 12:13have a child, but they are not married.
- 12:16What would you do? Because we cannot sit down and
- 12:20laugh and accuse Maria of snatching or for being a home
- 12:26wrecker. But what if you were in her
- 12:29shoes? What would you do?
- 12:31Would you leave somebody you like who is telling you that
- 12:34they are not married? Or would you continue and get
- 12:40dragged online? Let me know what you think.
