Latest / Outspoken the Podcast / Tammy Hembrow's Baby Fever
Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Hello and welcome to Outspoken. It's your dose of the
- 0:04Speaker 1: hottest influencer and pop culture news twice a week. I'm
- 0:08Speaker 1: Sophie Torver and coming up on today's show. Sofa Dofa
- 0:12Speaker 1: labels Australian Fashion Week a shit show and Sammy Guggenheimer
- 0:16Speaker 1: is called out for mistreating a stan. But first, Tammy
- 0:19Speaker 1: Hembrough declared over the weekend that she has baby fever.
- 0:23Speaker 1: The mum of three went as far as asking her
- 0:25Speaker 1: followers if she should have another baby before adding kidding
- 0:29Speaker 1: but not kidding. Kate, a rather surprising revelation. Yeah, it
- 0:33Speaker 1: wasn't what I was expecting from Tammy, considering the marriage
- 0:36Speaker 1: breakdown rumors that are swirling. So Matt and Tammy still
- 0:39Speaker 1: appear to be living in separate states. And Tammy has
- 0:42Speaker 1: made it very clear that Matt isn't at home. So
- 0:45Speaker 1: she's constantly posting with her kids, watching movies in bed together.
- 0:49Speaker 1: She also appeared at Australian Fashion Week by herself. Matt's
- 0:52Speaker 1: been making it pretty obvious that he is back living
- 0:55Speaker 1: in Melbourne too. He's been going on a lot of
- 0:57Speaker 1: solo movie trips. He also slept at the MCG for
- 1:01Speaker 1: charity and a couple of photos actually popped up of
- 1:03Speaker 1: him chatting to some girls, which Tammy would not be
- 1:05Speaker 1: happy about. And he's also been posting a lot of
- 1:08Speaker 1: happy snaps with family. It almost gives the vibe that
- 1:11Speaker 1: his family are rallying behind him at this time. Yeah, well,
- 1:14Speaker 1: he shared a photo dump of pictures of him and
- 1:16Speaker 1: his family standing next to this brick wall and wrote,
- 1:19Speaker 1: the caption brick by brick. So it seems like he's
- 1:22Speaker 1: rebuilding himself. That's very deep from him. And he also
- 1:25Speaker 1: shared a photo of him walking in a forest with
- 1:27Speaker 1: his mum from 2021 and then again in 2025. It
- 1:30Speaker 1: shows how close he is to his family in Melbourne.
- 1:33Speaker 1: I want to talk about these posts that Tammy uploaded
- 1:36Speaker 1: on Sunday morning because they were very strange. So she
- 1:39Speaker 1: had been watching the Twilight series with her kids and
- 1:42Speaker 1: she was saying how excited she was that they were
- 1:44Speaker 1: getting into it. And in one of the movies, I mean,
- 1:47Speaker 1: I'm not a Twilight stan, so I'm not across this franchise,
- 1:50Speaker 1: but there was a baby featured in it, which looked
- 1:53Speaker 1: like an AI baby. It's not actually a real baby.
- 1:56Speaker 1: And it was a bit creepy, wasn't it? Yeah, she
- 1:57Speaker 1: took a photo of the television screen with the baby
- 2:00Speaker 1: on it and wrote, me, baby fever with a shaking
- 2:04Speaker 1: hands emoji and said, guys, should I have another one? Lol.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Now that was quickly followed up with a picture of
- 2:11Speaker 1: Wolf on the bed and said, kidding, but not kidding. Now,
- 2:14Speaker 1: this is all very strange because this comes off the
- 2:18Speaker 1: back of her husband, Matt, speaking very openly about his
- 2:22Speaker 1: struggles with fertility recently on the Inherited podcast. He doesn't
- 2:27Speaker 1: like to call himself infertile, but he has said that
- 2:30Speaker 1: there is a high likelihood that he will really struggle
- 2:33Speaker 1: to have children. Yeah, because he can't naturally conceive because
- 2:36Speaker 1: he doesn't have any sperm. He did say that there
- 2:38Speaker 1: is a procedure that he can have that would increase
- 2:41Speaker 1: the likelihood of him being able to have children. That's
- 2:44Speaker 1: why I was so surprised that Tammy would share something
- 2:46Speaker 1: like this, because it did seem quite insensitive to Matt
- 2:49Speaker 1: and what he's been going through. The timing of her
- 2:51Speaker 1: post was also quite curious because it was the same
- 2:54Speaker 1: day that her ex-fiancé, Matt Paul, announced the arrival of
- 2:58Speaker 1: his son with his fiancé, Annalise. So they called the
- 3:01Speaker 1: baby Parker William Paul, and he'll be the brother of
- 3:04Speaker 1: Tammy Hembrough's daughter, Posie. So they really like the double
- 3:08Speaker 1: P names, Posey Paul and Parker Paul. That's quite a mouthful.
- 3:12Speaker 1: I'm not going to be too critical over names because
- 3:13Speaker 1: I'll be putting my baby name out there soon. But
- 3:16Speaker 1: I am surprised that you'd go with a double P. Well,
- 3:19Speaker 1: Amy went with a double H. Yeah, but I think
- 3:21Speaker 1: because P makes such a specific noise, like it's difficult
- 3:24Speaker 1: to pronounce two Ps. Two Ps. The birth announcement was
- 3:29Speaker 1: really beautiful because they had a professional photographer there taking photos.
- 3:33Speaker 1: And one thing that stood out to me is that
- 3:35Speaker 1: Matt just looked so thrilled and happy in the vision.
- 3:38Speaker 1: And then I was comparing it to his appearance in
- 3:41Speaker 1: Tammy's birth vlog. And it was so clear that they
- 3:44Speaker 1: must have broken up because his vibe was completely different. Yeah,
- 3:47Speaker 1: it was really around the time of Posey's birth that
- 3:50Speaker 1: followers started picking up on the fact that something wasn't
- 3:52Speaker 1: quite right in their relationship. Matt Paul was beginning to
- 3:55Speaker 1: be quite absent from Tammy's content, similar to what we're
- 3:59Speaker 1: seeing now with Matt Sikowsky.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 4:01Speaker 1: It does seem like Tammy's surrounded by babies at the
- 4:03Speaker 1: moment because prior to posting that she had baby fever,
- 4:07Speaker 1: she had been hanging out with her best friend, Isabel Laws,
- 4:10Speaker 1: and her new baby daughter. And there'd been a couple
- 4:12Speaker 1: of photos uploaded of Tammy holding the baby. So this
- 4:15Speaker 1: would be adding to it. Interestingly, Isabel Laws also recently
- 4:20Speaker 1: unfollowed Matt Zukowski on Instagram, which created a few headlines.
- 4:23Speaker 3: Mm-hmm.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Matt really is not helping this situation. So on his
- 4:27Speaker 1: podcast this week with Anna McAvoy, they spoke about the candle,
- 4:31Speaker 1: firework and mirror theory, which is this social media relationship
- 4:35Speaker 1: theory describing different types of relationships. When Anna was getting
- 4:39Speaker 1: into these relationship theories, I felt like she had to
- 4:41Speaker 1: stifle a giggle a couple of times because it was
- 4:44Speaker 1: so clear that the firework theory, which we will throw
- 4:47Speaker 1: to you in a second, is literally Tammy and Matt. Oh,
- 4:50Speaker 1: it was so awkward. Yeah, it was kind of like
- 4:52Speaker 1: this laugh that she knew the audience would know that
- 4:55Speaker 1: this was about them. Yeah, it's kind of like that
- 4:57Speaker 1: she knows she's not allowed to say anything, but for
- 5:00Speaker 1: the sake of their podcast and getting ratings up there,
- 5:02Speaker 1: they'll start inferring stuff. Yeah, let's throw to a little
- 5:04Speaker 1: bit of that segment.
- 5:06Speaker 3: So first let's start with a firework, the most crazy one,
- 5:11Speaker 3: as the name suggests, being a firework.
- 5:14Speaker 4: So this love is the intoxicating love.
- 5:17Speaker 3: The one that burns bright but fades quickly.
- 5:20Speaker 4: So we've all had that relationship, I think especially when
- 5:24Speaker 4: I was younger. I think the firework theory happened a lot.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Like you meet someone, it's explosions, and then next minute
- 5:30Speaker 3: you're like, it's over.
- 5:32Speaker 5: It's done.
- 5:33Speaker 4: It all happens so quick.
- 5:34Speaker 6: Supernova. Literally. Is that what they're called? Those burn bright,
- 5:38Speaker 6: die young?
- 5:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:39Speaker 4: So it's exciting, it's dramatic, it's explosive.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Basically like an actual firework, it fizzles out quickly and
- 5:47Speaker 3: often leaves behind a smoky aftermath of drama and emotional wreckage.
- 5:53Speaker 4: Matt, can you relate?
- 5:55Speaker 6: Yeah, I've been in a couple of firework relationships, definitely.
- 5:58Speaker 6: I feel like these ones, though, everyone has to go
- 6:02Speaker 6: through them. I mean, I say everyone, that's a bit
- 6:05Speaker 6: of a broad statement, but I feel like you learn
- 6:07Speaker 6: from them and I feel like you better yourself from
- 6:09Speaker 6: those relationships as and understand a bit more about yourself
- 6:12Speaker 6: and a bit more about dating. Like we've always said
- 6:14Speaker 6: on this podcast, dating is about learning. And to learn,
- 6:18Speaker 6: you need to get out there and explore different scenarios
- 6:21Speaker 6: and different relationships. So I think it's a very, not useful,
- 6:24Speaker 6: but it's something that might seem traumatic at the time,
- 6:27Speaker 6: but you learn from it.
- 6:28Speaker 4: Yeah, I think the firework love rarely works out.
- 6:32Speaker 1: The vibe I got from that is that Matt is saying, oh,
- 6:35Speaker 1: he's learned so much. from this firework relationship with Tammy
- 6:39Speaker 1: and he's grown as a person and he's matured now
- 6:42Speaker 1: that it's over. Is that kind of what you picked
- 6:44Speaker 1: up on? I actually don't think it's definitely over. I
- 6:47Speaker 1: think that they're on a break to improve themselves. So
- 6:51Speaker 1: I think Matt is trying to say like that brick
- 6:53Speaker 1: by brick post that he did, that he's working on
- 6:56Speaker 1: himself and he's going to return to Tammy a better man.
- 6:59Speaker 1: But how are you working on your relationship when you're
- 7:01Speaker 1: not even in the same state? You're not even liking
- 7:04Speaker 1: each other's Instagram photos. I know that sounds petty, but
- 7:06Speaker 1: I've noticed that they haven't liked any for weeks now.
- 7:09Speaker 1: And the awkward thing is he's on this relationship podcast
- 7:12Speaker 1: and he didn't mention his wife's name once, whereas Anna
- 7:15Speaker 1: McAvoy kept referencing her husband throughout all this. Oh yeah,
- 7:17Speaker 1: they were talking about how it's fun as a couple
- 7:21Speaker 1: to do painting classes. And earlier in the year, I
- 7:24Speaker 1: think it was around New Year's, Matt and Tammy painted
- 7:26Speaker 1: each other and he referenced that, but he didn't use
- 7:29Speaker 1: her name at all or even reference who he did
- 7:32Speaker 1: the painting class with.
- 7:34Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Like he didn't say my wife. He just said, oh yeah,
- 7:36Speaker 1: I did this with a partner once.
- 7:38Speaker 2: I know.
- 7:38Speaker 1: And despite not talking about Tammy, Matt referenced a friends
- 7:41Speaker 1: with benefits situation, which turned into a relationship. I'm sure
- 7:45Speaker 1: Tammy would have been absolutely thrilled with this. So it
- 7:48Speaker 1: got brought up when Anna was saying that most relationships
- 7:51Speaker 1: start with some type of firework. And Matt said this.
- 7:54Speaker 6: I was with one when I was like hooking up
- 7:57Speaker 6: with a girl for like a couple of years before
- 7:59Speaker 6: I realized that she was a cool chick and started
- 8:01Speaker 6: dating her for over two years.
- 8:03Speaker 4: That must be a rare scenario. Yeah.
- 8:06Speaker 3: So what, you guys were like friends with benefits? Yeah.
- 8:08Speaker 4: And then it moved into a relationship.
- 8:10Speaker 6: It just got more and more like, you know, from
- 8:12Speaker 6: every fortnight to like, once a week twice a week
- 8:15Speaker 6: you didn't like go home after going out with her
- 8:17Speaker 6: or go like and then eventually just got more and
- 8:20Speaker 6: more like you know the more you talk and it
- 8:22Speaker 6: was like dates more dates and it just gradually became
- 8:24Speaker 6: a relationship didn't work out obviously yeah but you know
- 8:28Speaker 6: you're young well to.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Be fair he's obviously been told by tammy that he's
- 8:32Speaker 1: not to mention her at all and anything to do
- 8:34Speaker 1: with their situation so if he does have this dating
- 8:37Speaker 1: and relationships podcast he really can only refer to past relationships. Yeah,
- 8:42Speaker 1: but hearing that story made him sound like such a
- 8:44Speaker 1: player and made it seem even stranger that he raced
- 8:47Speaker 1: into this relationship with Tammy. Oh, I didn't pick up
- 8:50Speaker 1: on that at all. I just thought he was talking
- 8:51Speaker 1: about a relationship he had when he was quite young.
- 8:54Speaker 1: I actually thought it might have been with that Genevieve
- 8:56Speaker 1: that keeps calling him out. I mean, I love that
- 8:59Speaker 1: he says it took him a couple of years of
- 9:00Speaker 1: having sex with this woman to realise that she was
- 9:03Speaker 1: a cool chick. I mean, how awful is that?
- 9:06Speaker 7: Let's talk about Australian Fashion Week. This is my third
- 9:09Speaker 7: year attending Australian Fashion Week, and I just want to
- 9:12Speaker 7: do a little debrief on how this year has been.
- 9:16Speaker 7: So it's definitely been an experience.
- 9:18Speaker 1: TikTok it girl Sophia Begg is at the center of
- 9:21Speaker 1: an Australian Fashion Week scandal. The 21-year-old influencer, better known
- 9:25Speaker 1: by her handle SofaDofa, labeled the event a shitshow and
- 9:29Speaker 1: called out media in attendance. Now, before we get into
- 9:32Speaker 1: the drama, Soph, can you get listeners up to speed
- 9:34Speaker 1: with who Sophadofa is? Well, she is a big deal
- 9:36Speaker 1: in the Australian fashion scene. She's a Gen Z style
- 9:39Speaker 1: icon with her own fashion label that often sells out. Now,
- 9:43Speaker 1: when she was 17, her influencer career really took off
- 9:46Speaker 1: off the back of her wearing a blue corset from
- 9:49Speaker 1: Glassons on her TikTok. That item immediately sold out everywhere
- 9:53Speaker 1: and she attracted a mass audience, which now sits at
- 9:56Speaker 1: almost 3 million followers. She also made a name for herself.
- 10:00Speaker 1: when she called out fashion label White Fox Boutique. And
- 10:02Speaker 1: we spoke about Sofa on the podcast recently as her
- 10:05Speaker 1: name got dragged into the Anna Paul saga. So Michaela
- 10:08Speaker 1: Testa alleged that Anna Paul made derogatory comments about her appearance. Yeah,
- 10:13Speaker 1: her close set eyes, apparently. And since then, a lot
- 10:15Speaker 1: of people have had a soft spot for her, which
- 10:17Speaker 1: is why when she uploaded a TikTok talking about her
- 10:20Speaker 1: mistreatment at Australian Fashion Week, the people tuned in. The
- 10:24Speaker 1: video went viral and has over a million views. Now,
- 10:27Speaker 1: the video went for almost eight minutes and there are
- 10:30Speaker 1: several parts that I want to discuss. The first is
- 10:33Speaker 1: about the media in attendance. So, Sofa called out the
- 10:36Speaker 1: journalists doing Vox Pops outside the event. She labeled their
- 10:40Speaker 1: questions as diabolical and inappropriate. Now, for those unfamiliar with
- 10:44Speaker 1: the term Vox Pop, it's a short interview with a
- 10:47Speaker 1: member of the public, normally in a public place like
- 10:49Speaker 1: on the street or at an event. And the purpose
- 10:52Speaker 1: is to gather a range of opinions or reactions. However,
- 10:56Speaker 1: in this new age of media, the motive of Vox
- 10:58Speaker 1: Pops has really changed. So they're now being used at
- 11:01Speaker 1: events like these to try and create a viral moment
- 11:04Speaker 1: that will gain a lot of engagement online. Things have
- 11:06Speaker 1: really changed since the TikTok Awards because there are a
- 11:09Speaker 1: couple of influencers who were caught off guard on the
- 11:11Speaker 1: red carpet and fucked up and said stupid shit that
- 11:13Speaker 1: went viral, for instance. there was a general question which
- 11:16Speaker 1: was being thrown at influencers around whether they thought the
- 11:19Speaker 1: job of an influencer was hard. And most of them
- 11:22Speaker 1: were smart enough to play it off and say, oh,
- 11:24Speaker 1: you know, we're very lucky to have this position. Whereas
- 11:26Speaker 1: one influencer went into how difficult her role was and
- 11:30Speaker 1: that the public would just be unaware of the amount
- 11:32Speaker 1: of work that she put into it, which was not
- 11:34Speaker 1: a popular response. There was also that clip of Anna
- 11:36Speaker 1: Paul that went viral where she was asked if she
- 11:38Speaker 1: could be another content creator for 24 hours, who would
- 11:41Speaker 1: it be? And she said someone that was super, super
- 11:44Speaker 1: rich that traveled a lot. And everyone's like, but that's you. Like,
- 11:47Speaker 1: how unaware are you?
- 11:49Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 11:49Speaker 1: And you can see that this is a tactic that
- 11:51Speaker 1: they've been trying to implement at Australian Fashion Week, because
- 11:54Speaker 1: you would expect that there'd be a lot of questions
- 11:56Speaker 1: about fashion and what the influencers are wearing. But instead,
- 12:00Speaker 1: reporters have been asking invasive questions to try and catch
- 12:03Speaker 1: influencers out. Yeah, and it's always at the influencer's expense,
- 12:06Speaker 1: isn't it? Now, Sofa was visibly taken aback when she
- 12:10Speaker 1: was asked on camera how much she earns and to
- 12:13Speaker 1: also divulge the biggest brand deal she's ever turned down.
- 12:17Speaker 1: They also wanted her to name and shame that brand.
- 12:19Speaker 1: This is what she said about it on her TikTok.
- 12:22Speaker 7: I feel like the interviewer's sole purpose, this year especially,
- 12:25Speaker 7: is just to catch people out with tricky questions that
- 12:29Speaker 7: they know they're going to get juicy answers from. I
- 12:32Speaker 7: feel like a lot of the questions they're trying to
- 12:33Speaker 7: get tea, they're trying to get juicy answers, and a
- 12:35Speaker 7: lot of the questions you can see are visibly making
- 12:38Speaker 7: the creators feel uncomfortable.
- 12:41Speaker 1: I just think that this tactic is very unfair, particularly
- 12:43Speaker 1: when you consider how young some of these influencers are.
- 12:47Speaker 1: And that they really haven't had any media training. That
- 12:49Speaker 1: would be a very difficult question to answer diplomatically. Yeah,
- 12:52Speaker 1: it kind of shocks me when you realize that SofaDofa
- 12:55Speaker 1: is only 21 years old. And it's not the first
- 12:57Speaker 1: time that she's been rattled by an interview before. So
- 13:01Speaker 1: she was trolled after her exchange with Tony Armstrong at
- 13:04Speaker 1: the 2023 TikTok Awards. And during that interaction, Armstrong asked
- 13:08Speaker 1: her how she was feeling, saying, you look ecstatic and
- 13:10Speaker 1: I'm pumped for you. And SofaDofa replied, thank you, wow,
- 13:14Speaker 1: stop flirting with me. It was really awkward. We did
- 13:17Speaker 1: talk about it on the podcast when it happened. Because
- 13:19Speaker 1: Tony hit back and said that he had a girlfriend
- 13:21Speaker 1: and everyone was like, oh, good on him for turning
- 13:24Speaker 1: her down. It was clear that in that moment she
- 13:26Speaker 1: thought that he was giving her some type of compliment
- 13:29Speaker 1: and she explained later on that other people had been
- 13:32Speaker 1: complaining that interviewees weren't giving them anything and she wanted
- 13:35Speaker 1: to be fun. It was clearly a joke.
- 13:37Speaker 4: Yeah, and that.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Moment clearly lives rent-free in Soph's mind because she spoke
- 13:41Speaker 1: about how she was freaking out during the Australian Fashion
- 13:43Speaker 1: Week interviews. And Soph, as you touched on, She's one
- 13:46Speaker 1: of the influencers that hasn't had media training and she
- 13:48Speaker 1: said that she was stressing having to answer these questions
- 13:51Speaker 1: alone without her manager or her mum. I think because
- 13:54Speaker 1: these viral videos disappear so quickly from our For You
- 13:58Speaker 1: pages that you forget how difficult it would actually be
- 14:01Speaker 1: for people to put up with the brutal commentary that's
- 14:04Speaker 1: going on in the comments section. Because those influencers get
- 14:07Speaker 1: tagged all the time and if you're someone that looks
- 14:10Speaker 1: at your tags and reads the comments, I mean, it'd
- 14:12Speaker 1: be very hard not to read what people were saying.
- 14:14Speaker 1: I know people go, oh, well, just don't look at it.
- 14:16Speaker 1: And it's like, well, her job and other influencers job
- 14:19Speaker 1: is to create content and they have to use those
- 14:22Speaker 1: apps in order to put their content out there and
- 14:24Speaker 1: get paid. So of course they're going to look at
- 14:26Speaker 1: their notifications. And also influencers get criticized if they don't
- 14:30Speaker 1: respond to followers requests about where they got their outfit
- 14:34Speaker 1: from or If you look generally rude for not replying
- 14:37Speaker 1: to a really lovely comment. Now, during this TikTok video,
- 14:40Speaker 1: Sofa said that she's often asked how she's so confident.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Let's take a listen to what she said.
- 14:45Speaker 7: Other creators or like just people in general, my DMs
- 14:47Speaker 7: will ask me like, how are you so confident? I'm like,
- 14:49Speaker 7: I'm the least confident person ever. Like I have raging
- 14:52Speaker 7: body dysmorphia. I'm on antidepressants.
- 14:55Speaker 1: I found that really difficult to listen to. And it
- 14:57Speaker 1: just shows what smoke and mirrors social media is because
- 15:00Speaker 1: Sofa looks like such a confident person online. It also
- 15:04Speaker 1: shows how detrimental the Anna Paul comments would have been
- 15:07Speaker 1: for her mental health and also her confidence.
- 15:09Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 15:10Speaker 1: And unfortunately, it seems like the media ended up getting
- 15:12Speaker 1: what they wanted. So a clip of an influencer calling
- 15:15Speaker 1: out Sofa went viral. In a now deleted video, a
- 15:18Speaker 1: journalist asked content creators attending the event to name a
- 15:22Speaker 1: micro trend final boss. What does that mean? Yeah, I
- 15:25Speaker 1: had no idea what this meant. I had to do
- 15:28Speaker 1: some digging. So it's a popular term on TikTok and
- 15:31Speaker 1: it's used in a derogatory way to describe someone who
- 15:34Speaker 1: chases fashion trends. and doesn't have personal style. So micro
- 15:39Speaker 1: trends are really unpopular on TikTok at the moment. So
- 15:42Speaker 1: to name someone who embodies that is a very low blow.
- 15:46Speaker 1: What do you mean they're unpopular? I feel like for
- 15:47Speaker 1: years now, all we've been seeing are micro trends. Is
- 15:50Speaker 1: it sort of out of fashion to follow those? Is
- 15:52Speaker 1: that what you're saying? Yeah, it's very unfashionable now to
- 15:54Speaker 1: be seen to just be copying micro trends. You're seen
- 15:58Speaker 1: as someone that actually isn't very fashionable at all. Now,
- 16:01Speaker 1: most of the content creators interview looked uncomfortable and avoided
- 16:05Speaker 1: answering the question. However, controversial influencer Jamie Azapati named Sofa.
- 16:10Speaker 1: They said, I love watching Sofa Dofa, but I felt
- 16:13Speaker 1: like sometimes she doesn't do fashion the way I do fashion.
- 16:17Speaker 1: So for those not familiar with Jamie, they are a
- 16:20Speaker 1: celebrity stylist who is non-binary, so uses they, them pronouns.
- 16:25Speaker 1: And Jamie isn't a stranger to drama. Last year at
- 16:27Speaker 1: the festival, they made headlines when they made this grand
- 16:31Speaker 1: entrance into a show called flanked by helpers holding their dress. Yeah,
- 16:35Speaker 1: and the backlash towards Jamie was pretty swift. They were
- 16:39Speaker 1: instantly labeled a hypocrite online because they wore a Sheen
- 16:42Speaker 1: dress to the event, which is a cardinal sin. And
- 16:45Speaker 1: when we're talking about micro trends, Sheen is one of
- 16:49Speaker 1: the biggest contributors of these. Yes, it was a very
- 16:51Speaker 1: strange move, particularly after they wore Sheen. Now on the
- 16:54Speaker 1: topic of Sheen, I have to say the journalists ended
- 16:57Speaker 1: up getting me because they're obviously trying to rage bait
- 17:00Speaker 1: everyone and create all this engagement. Because they were asking influencers,
- 17:05Speaker 1: what would you change about fashion in Australia? And a
- 17:08Speaker 1: lot of influencers said fast fashion. And I was just
- 17:11Speaker 1: scoffing because I'm like, so many of you have promoted
- 17:13Speaker 1: fast fashion. You're doing collaborations with fast fashion. I understand
- 17:17Speaker 1: that it's something that we want to end. But if
- 17:19Speaker 1: you're so passionate about it, don't promote it. I'm just
- 17:21Speaker 1: shocked that anyone would want to be seen wearing sheen
- 17:24Speaker 1: to Australian Fashion Week. Well, I think Jamie likes being
- 17:26Speaker 1: talked about. So it was probably something that they thought
- 17:29Speaker 1: would get a lot of attention. I mean, for the
- 17:31Speaker 1: wrong reasons. Now, Sofa addressed the controversy in her TikTok
- 17:35Speaker 1: video saying this.
- 17:36Speaker 7: I feel like the Australian influencer scene is already so
- 17:40Speaker 7: toxic and we have such big like tall poppy syndrome.
- 17:42Speaker 7: Like we don't need other creators bringing people down. Also,
- 17:47Speaker 7: I got named as one of them by someone that
- 17:49Speaker 7: wore Shein to Australian Fashion Week.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Well, she has a good point. Yeah, she does. Now,
- 17:54Speaker 1: Jamie responded in a lengthy statement on their Instagram story.
- 17:58Speaker 1: In it, they backtracked and claimed they didn't understand the
- 18:00Speaker 1: question they were asked They wanted to say that they
- 18:03Speaker 1: had been unfairly edited, but was ultimately disappointed by how
- 18:06Speaker 1: Sofa addressed it. They said, I think what you've said
- 18:09Speaker 1: is questionable at best. It's a tough one because again,
- 18:13Speaker 1: Jamie has been set up by the journos. It's difficult
- 18:16Speaker 1: in that situation when you put on the spot and
- 18:19Speaker 1: you feel like you have to give a name. There
- 18:20Speaker 1: may have been a lot of pressuring going on. for
- 18:24Speaker 1: them to give some sort of response, particularly after a
- 18:27Speaker 1: lot of the other influencers gave them nothing. Yeah, but
- 18:30Speaker 1: Jamie is known for creating controversy. So I think it
- 18:33Speaker 1: works to some influencers' favour because Jamie is the type
- 18:36Speaker 1: of influencer who likes controversy. They want to get that attention. So,
- 18:42Speaker 1: you know, the journalists and influencers can work together. We've
- 18:45Speaker 1: seen it with Anna Paul and Michaela Tester. I think
- 18:48Speaker 1: that is spurring a lot of this on because I
- 18:50Speaker 1: think a lot of mainstream media went, wow, that went off.
- 18:53Speaker 1: Let's pit other content creators against each other and try
- 18:56Speaker 1: and enjoy some of those clicks and views. As a journalist,
- 18:59Speaker 1: I can completely see why they're following this direction. It's
- 19:02Speaker 1: very clever. It's a great way to create engagement and
- 19:06Speaker 1: also create brand new stories. Well, at the end of
- 19:08Speaker 1: the day, traditional media is dying and media companies need
- 19:12Speaker 1: to jump on these new forms of media. I mean,
- 19:15Speaker 1: Everyone always complains about clickbait journalism. This is just the
- 19:18Speaker 1: new form of it. It's keeping up with TikTok. They're
- 19:21Speaker 1: trying to get eyeballs and in turn dollars. Yeah, but
- 19:24Speaker 1: I think that this style of questioning actually adds a
- 19:26Speaker 1: lot of excitement and extra interest around that red carpet.
- 19:30Speaker 1: I think it'd be boring if it was just like, oh,
- 19:32Speaker 1: what are you wearing today? And why do the journos
- 19:35Speaker 1: have to play it safe with them? These people are
- 19:38Speaker 1: earning a fuck ton of money. They all have managers.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Maybe they should have a bit of media training in
- 19:42Speaker 1: order to answer some of these questions. Yeah, the thing
- 19:45Speaker 1: that makes me feel a little bit uncomfortable though is
- 19:48Speaker 1: the media exploiting these content. creators and sort of engagement farming,
- 19:52Speaker 1: getting all these comments on their videos. And that obviously
- 19:56Speaker 1: increases their views. But then they're not moderating any of
- 19:59Speaker 1: the comments because of course they're not going to because that,
- 20:01Speaker 1: you know, decreases the engagement. Well, that's obviously a separate
- 20:04Speaker 1: issue in itself. I definitely think that the media has
- 20:07Speaker 1: to have more responsibility over moderating comment sections and turning
- 20:11Speaker 1: comment sections off. But in saying that, I do feel
- 20:14Speaker 1: like if you have a public profile, you should be
- 20:18Speaker 1: in a position where you can answer questions tactfully. Like
- 20:21Speaker 1: that sort of just comes with the job. I mean,
- 20:24Speaker 1: I think we're going to see more and more influencers
- 20:26Speaker 1: getting media training and then these type of Vox Pops
- 20:28Speaker 1: will probably disappear because the journalists won't get what they want. Now,
- 20:32Speaker 1: if things couldn't get any worse for Australian Fashion Week,
- 20:35Speaker 1: Sofa Dofa had one last thing to say. So she
- 20:39Speaker 1: labeled the event a shit show and said that the
- 20:41Speaker 1: lack of diversity on the runway was fucking insane. Here's
- 20:44Speaker 1: more of what she said.
- 20:46Speaker 7: Pardon my French, but like I went to a show
- 20:48Speaker 7: yesterday and it Like diverse wasn't even in their vocabulary.
- 20:54Speaker 7: Like they didn't even know what that word was. And
- 20:56Speaker 7: it was just so shit. Like I was just sitting
- 20:58Speaker 7: there like, this is so shit. Like we're at Australian
- 21:01Speaker 7: Fashion Week. Where is the diversity? Where is the inclusivity?
- 21:04Speaker 7: I just thought in 2025, we would have been a
- 21:06Speaker 7: lot better at that by now.
- 21:08Speaker 1: Now, not a glowing review by one of Australia's biggest influencers.
- 21:11Speaker 1: I can just imagine the organizers seeing this all going down,
- 21:14Speaker 1: particularly because this year the event was up in the
- 21:16Speaker 1: air after sponsor IMG pulled out after running the event
- 21:20Speaker 1: for 20 years. So the Australian Fashion Council saved the event,
- 21:23Speaker 1: but they will not be liking this feedback. And I
- 21:26Speaker 1: think that this is a big reason why people love Sofa,
- 21:29Speaker 1: because she's not afraid to call injustices or things that
- 21:33Speaker 1: she doesn't think are right out. I wonder if she'll
- 21:35Speaker 1: be on the invite list next year.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Like someone will be asking, oh, like, so what's happening
- 21:40Speaker 2: with this? Like, when's this happening? Or like, what is this?
- 21:43Speaker 2: And the influencer's response is like, I don't understand why
- 21:47Speaker 2: the fuck you.
- 21:49Speaker 1: The way influencers treat their fans is in the spotlight
- 21:52Speaker 1: after podcaster Sammy Guggenheimer scolded a longtime listener for daring
- 21:57Speaker 1: to ask when her show was returning. The influencer-led podcast
- 22:01Speaker 1: Just For Girls has been on a temporary hiatus with
- 22:04Speaker 1: no communication from either host about the state of the
- 22:07Speaker 1: show's future. Yeah, and since late last year, there's been
- 22:10Speaker 1: rumors of a friendship breakdown between the hosts, Sammy Guggenheimer
- 22:14Speaker 1: and also Izzy Armitage, and what that means for their
- 22:16Speaker 1: podcast going forward. So the influencers launched their podcast back
- 22:21Speaker 1: in March 2023. And the show follows a similar structure
- 22:24Speaker 1: that we've seen a lot of influencer-led podcasts follow. So
- 22:27Speaker 1: basically the women share updates about their lives and they
- 22:31Speaker 1: and their audience figure out their early 20s together. It's
- 22:34Speaker 1: nothing new. Yeah, I feel like that is the blurb
- 22:36Speaker 1: for so many influencer podcasts. Now, back in March, rumours
- 22:40Speaker 1: of a rift between the hosts really ramped up when
- 22:43Speaker 1: both Sammy and Izzy removed the Just For Girls link
- 22:46Speaker 1: from their Instagram bios. And there was this huge radio
- 22:50Speaker 1: silence about what was actually going on, which often causes
- 22:53Speaker 1: rumors to get out of hand and start taking a
- 22:55Speaker 1: life of their own. So one rumor that gained a
- 22:58Speaker 1: lot of traction was that the girls had a falling
- 23:01Speaker 1: out over an ex. So many were convinced that Sammy
- 23:04Speaker 1: was upset at Izzy for sleeping with her ex. So
- 23:08Speaker 1: Sammy got even by sleeping with Izzy's ex. Now, I
- 23:11Speaker 1: think we have to point out that those are unsubstantiated allegations.
- 23:15Speaker 1: We have no idea whether that is true, but that
- 23:18Speaker 1: is just the rumour that is going around on TikTok,
- 23:20Speaker 1: which it's a pretty terrible rumour. Yeah, and the girls
- 23:22Speaker 1: ended up taking the piss out of that rumour, sharing
- 23:25Speaker 1: this satirical video. So she fucked both my ex-boyfriends and
- 23:29Speaker 1: I went, oh, I'm going to now fuck yours. And
- 23:32Speaker 1: now we're going, oh, let's just do friends again.
- 23:33Speaker 3: So that's the situation.
- 23:35Speaker 4: Yeah, so we hate each other. So you guys were right.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Bring your phone down.
- 23:40Speaker 3: And like, we were beefing. So the boy with my.
- 23:43Speaker 4: Boyfriend is all three of them.
- 23:45Speaker 2: All three of them.
- 23:46Speaker 3: We fucked each other.
- 23:47Speaker 1: You know, I also fucked your first boyfriend that you.
- 23:49Speaker 4: Dated when you were 16.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Yeah, you didn't tell me that.
- 23:52Speaker 3: Well, I did, sorry.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Oops.
- 23:55Speaker 2: What?
- 23:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:02Speaker 1: I mean, it's one way to address a rumor. I
- 24:03Speaker 1: do enjoy it when people just do it with a
- 24:05Speaker 1: bit of humor.
- 24:06Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Now, despite attempting to put the rumors to bed, listeners
- 24:10Speaker 1: became suspicious again last month when the women stopped recording completely.
- 24:15Speaker 1: So for the past four weeks, they've just been uploading
- 24:18Speaker 1: reruns with no explanation of what's going on or what
- 24:21Speaker 1: their future plans are for the show. I hate when
- 24:24Speaker 1: podcasts do this. We actually had a thread in our
- 24:26Speaker 1: Facebook community about this, how a lot of influencers will
- 24:30Speaker 1: start up a podcast and And they don't realize how
- 24:33Speaker 1: much work it is to actually have a consistent podcast
- 24:36Speaker 1: coming out every week. And then they just go AWOL
- 24:39Speaker 1: and never return to it. I am still waiting for
- 24:41Speaker 1: the Sam and Billie show to come back. That has
- 24:43Speaker 1: been gone for a year. They've never updated on their
- 24:46Speaker 1: social media accounts to say what's going on with it.
- 24:48Speaker 1: It's like so unprofessional. I think a lot of influencers
- 24:51Speaker 1: forget that if you start a podcast, you become part
- 24:53Speaker 1: of people's weekly routines and they build this parasocial relationship
- 24:58Speaker 1: with you because I think on podcasts, people speak in
- 25:02Speaker 1: obviously a conversational way, but they open up more. Like
- 25:04Speaker 1: you feel like you really know someone when you listen
- 25:06Speaker 1: to their podcast and you feel like you're being shut
- 25:08Speaker 1: out by a friend when suddenly the podcast just stops
- 25:11Speaker 1: and there's no explanation as to what's going on. Yeah,
- 25:13Speaker 1: there's definitely a strong parasocial relationship, I think, with podcasters
- 25:17Speaker 1: and their listeners. And this is where podcast listener Nikita
- 25:20Speaker 1: Kathleen comes into the story. So Nikita has been a
- 25:24Speaker 1: longtime fan of the Just For Girls podcast. revealing she
- 25:27Speaker 1: traveled for hours to attend the girls' live show. And
- 25:31Speaker 1: she's been to all of their events, lined up to
- 25:33Speaker 1: meet them. And she's also a paid subscriber to the
- 25:36Speaker 1: podcast and spent over $ 700 on Sammy's recent collection drop.
- 25:41Speaker 1: So she is a stan of Sammy Guggenheimer. Yeah, she's
- 25:45Speaker 1: very dedicated to the girls. She's obviously invested a lot
- 25:47Speaker 1: of time and money to support them.
- 25:50Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Now, back in April, Nikita created a video asking whether
- 25:54Speaker 1: YouTubers or podcasters owe their audience an explanation or an
- 25:58Speaker 1: update when they take an unexpected hiatus or go MIA.
- 26:02Speaker 1: While the video was general in nature, Nikita did reference
- 26:06Speaker 1: the Just For Girls podcast in passing, which in hindsight
- 26:09Speaker 1: she says she shouldn't have done. Now, the video started
- 26:12Speaker 1: gaining traction and led to Sammy and Izzy weighing in
- 26:15Speaker 1: in the comment section. It is unclear what the girls
- 26:18Speaker 1: commented because Nikita has since deleted the video out of
- 26:21Speaker 1: respect for them, but she said it was clear that
- 26:23Speaker 1: they were frustrated by the video, and she actually ended
- 26:27Speaker 1: up messaging them privately and apologizing. She said Izzy didn't
- 26:32Speaker 1: respond to her message, but Sam ended up replying, saying
- 26:35Speaker 1: that she felt personally attacked by Nikita's video, especially because
- 26:39Speaker 1: Nikita had been a longtime fan. Sam also said to
- 26:43Speaker 1: her that the public doesn't know everything that's going on
- 26:45Speaker 1: behind the scenes, and it's not fair for them to
- 26:47Speaker 1: talk about it. Now, fast forward a couple of weeks,
- 26:50Speaker 1: and Nikita, along with a started asking the girls in
- 26:55Speaker 1: their TikTok comment section about what was going on with
- 26:57Speaker 1: the podcast. And Nikita explained that she was curious as
- 27:00Speaker 1: she loves the show and wrote, is the podcast coming
- 27:03Speaker 1: back or is it just going to be reruns? Sammy
- 27:06Speaker 1: ended up replying directly to Nikita writing, we have spoken
- 27:09Speaker 1: about this. I don't know why you feel the need
- 27:12Speaker 1: to speak publicly once you have messaged me apologizing. Now,
- 27:16Speaker 1: Nikita responded saying, we only spoke on my video that
- 27:19Speaker 1: I deleted and not the podcast. I was just asking
- 27:22Speaker 1: because it's not in either of your bios anymore and
- 27:24Speaker 1: people miss it. I'm not attacking you by asking a question.
- 27:27Speaker 1: I'm just wondering as a fan of the pod. Nikita
- 27:31Speaker 1: was really worried that people would come for her in
- 27:33Speaker 1: the comment section, seeing as Sammy weighed in and seemed
- 27:36Speaker 1: to be annoyed at her. But in reality, a lot
- 27:38Speaker 1: of the listeners were disappointed by Sammy's tone to her.
- 27:42Speaker 1: And many noticed that Sammy liked one of the few
- 27:45Speaker 1: negative comments that was directed at Nikita. So the negative
- 27:48Speaker 1: comment said, hopefully we can have an end to your
- 27:51Speaker 1: trolling and speculation. We can only hope. Now, Nikita ended
- 27:54Speaker 1: up creating a five minute response video explaining how she
- 27:58Speaker 1: felt about Sammy's response. Let's have a listen to some
- 28:01Speaker 1: of what she said.
- 28:02Speaker 5: I just want to say this was never supposed to
- 28:04Speaker 5: be hate. This was never supposed to be me attacking them.
- 28:07Speaker 5: I was really just curious as a fan as to
- 28:09Speaker 5: what's going on. And a lot of other people were
- 28:11Speaker 5: asking questions as well. And, yeah, it kind of hurt.
- 28:15Speaker 5: Her response kind of hurt because it's, like, it was
- 28:17Speaker 5: only to me. She hasn't responded to anyone else. She
- 28:19Speaker 5: hasn't addressed anyone else. Everyone that's been asking, she hasn't
- 28:22Speaker 5: said anything. And she could have just said, like, oh,
- 28:25Speaker 5: update coming soon or something. But, like, yeah. And because
- 28:29Speaker 5: I've met her, like, yeah.
- 28:30Speaker 2: It kind of hurt.
- 28:31Speaker 5: So I've since unfollowed, unfortunately. It did hurt a little
- 28:36Speaker 5: bit as a fan. It was a bit disappointing because
- 28:38Speaker 5: I've put so much support and energy into them.
- 28:40Speaker 4: I've travelled constantly.
- 28:41Speaker 5: Hours and hours to see them like you know I've
- 28:44Speaker 5: put in a lot of effort I guess and to
- 28:46Speaker 5: not get the same public respect I guess you could
- 28:49Speaker 5: say back like I've always defended them and stuff I.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Felt really sorry for Nikita hearing this it is clear
- 28:55Speaker 1: that she has invested a lot of time and money
- 28:58Speaker 1: into supporting these two women and it feels like they
- 29:01Speaker 1: were more than aware of this they know exactly who
- 29:04Speaker 1: she is And I feel like Nikita's biggest crime is
- 29:07Speaker 1: literally being upset that her favorite podcast isn't returning. I mean,
- 29:12Speaker 1: it'd be worse if Sammy and Izzy went on this
- 29:15Speaker 1: hiatus and literally none of the listeners cared or noticed.
- 29:19Speaker 1: But you've literally got someone who's devoted to you being like, oh,
- 29:21Speaker 1: my God, I miss this show so much. Please let
- 29:24Speaker 1: me know when it's coming back. And I don't know
- 29:25Speaker 1: how difficult it would be to say, hey, Nikita. Thank
- 29:28Speaker 1: you so much. It was so exciting that you loved
- 29:30Speaker 1: the show. We don't have any information right now, but
- 29:33Speaker 1: we will update you as soon as we know. This
- 29:35Speaker 1: really isn't an isolated incident. I mean, we've actually got
- 29:37Speaker 1: a thread in our Facebook community about people who... have
- 29:40Speaker 1: been blocked by influencers and often these people are fans
- 29:44Speaker 1: of the influencer and they're merely just suggesting something in
- 29:47Speaker 1: the comments they're not trying to be rude and then
- 29:49Speaker 1: they end up getting blocked and a lot of the
- 29:52Speaker 1: time when this happens is There's this parasocial relationship that's
- 29:55Speaker 1: going on and you honestly feel so rejected. Like I've
- 29:58Speaker 1: had heaps of influencers block me because of this podcast
- 30:01Speaker 1: and I feel a bit hurt because I'm like, I
- 30:03Speaker 1: love watching your content. And a lot of the time
- 30:06Speaker 1: people then turn into not trolls, but they go on
- 30:10Speaker 1: Tattle Life and they have a bit of a bitch
- 30:11Speaker 1: about the influencer. Yeah, it's kind of because you feel
- 30:14Speaker 1: like the influence is a friend, particularly if you've been
- 30:17Speaker 1: supporting them for a long time. A lot of influencers
- 30:20Speaker 1: forget about this parasocial relationship that people have with them.
- 30:24Speaker 1: And they don't realize that these people have been following
- 30:26Speaker 1: them for such a long time. And because they really
- 30:29Speaker 1: love them and respect what they do, if there's something
- 30:33Speaker 1: that they feel like they could be doing better or
- 30:35Speaker 1: they have a question about when something's coming back, they'll
- 30:38Speaker 1: ask it. But they're not doing it with malice. They're
- 30:40Speaker 1: just wanting to know something. It is hard because on
- 30:43Speaker 1: the other side of it, we obviously have this podcast
- 30:45Speaker 1: and we have a lot of listeners message us. And
- 30:48Speaker 1: sometimes you have to go, oh, hang on, they're not
- 30:50Speaker 1: having a go. They're just sharing an opinion. It's difficult
- 30:53Speaker 1: to read tone over messages as well. It can sometimes
- 30:57Speaker 1: feel like you are being attacked and you're like, hang on,
- 30:59Speaker 1: I've tried really hard putting this content out. So I
- 31:01Speaker 1: can kind of see a little bit where Sammy's coming from.
- 31:03Speaker 1: I don't think she's executed it very well because you
- 31:06Speaker 1: need to go, hang on, this is someone who is
- 31:09Speaker 1: paying for my podcast subscription, is a fan of the show.
- 31:12Speaker 1: They just want the podcast back. I think a lot
- 31:14Speaker 1: of podcasters and influencers need to remember that this is
- 31:18Speaker 1: a business at the end of the day. And if
- 31:20Speaker 1: you were in any other sort of professional role and
- 31:23Speaker 1: a client or a customer came to you with something
- 31:25Speaker 1: they were dissatisfied about, or just a general question, a
- 31:28Speaker 1: lot of these times are just questions. never respond so
- 31:32Speaker 1: rudely to them.
- 31:33Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly.
- 31:33Speaker 1: I mean, think about how many times you were working
- 31:36Speaker 1: in a retail job and you'd love to tell someone
- 31:38Speaker 1: to go get fucked, but you don't. Like you just
- 31:40Speaker 1: got to be professional. And that's the thing, even though listeners,
- 31:44Speaker 1: unless you've got a subs channel, don't necessarily pay for
- 31:46Speaker 1: your content, they are still supporting you by downloading your episode.
- 31:50Speaker 1: They're helping you grow. They're helping you go higher in
- 31:53Speaker 1: the charts, which leads to sponsorship. So I think that
- 31:57Speaker 1: you need to have a certain level of respect for
- 31:59Speaker 1: your listeners yeah well as you said podcasters and influencers
- 32:03Speaker 1: are nothing without the audience they have so they need
- 32:05Speaker 1: to treat them well now Nikita's video has been doing
- 32:08Speaker 1: the rounds on gossip sites and most people are absolutely
- 32:11Speaker 1: shocked by the way Sammy replied to her one user
- 32:14Speaker 1: wrote her reply was so unnecessarily rude to a simple
- 32:18Speaker 1: question another said they're all just popular mean girls who
- 32:21Speaker 1: you'd be scared of in high school they don't care
- 32:23Speaker 1: about the people that support them they care about popularity
- 32:26Speaker 1: and looking better than everyone else Now, this isn't the
- 32:30Speaker 1: first time that Sammy has been called out for being
- 32:33Speaker 1: condescending to her fans. Back in February, she hit back
- 32:36Speaker 1: at claims that she gatekeeps her products from her followers. Oh,
- 32:40Speaker 1: I remember we spoke about it because she speaks in
- 32:43Speaker 1: this tone that is very condescending. And I think because
- 32:46Speaker 1: she is such an attractive person that you do get
- 32:49Speaker 1: a bit of a mean girl vibe from it. Well,
- 32:51Speaker 1: in this video, she was rolling her eyes and she
- 32:54Speaker 1: pulled a lot of facial expressions where you got the
- 32:57Speaker 1: vibe that, as you say, Kate, she felt like she
- 32:59Speaker 1: was superior to those she was talking to. And in
- 33:02Speaker 1: the video, she told her followers that they should try
- 33:04Speaker 1: being an influencer and that she doesn't read her comment
- 33:07Speaker 1: section to protect her peace. So that's why she doesn't
- 33:10Speaker 1: reply about where her products are from. She also finished
- 33:13Speaker 1: the video by essentially mocking her followers' requests, saying, yeah,
- 33:17Speaker 1: this pimple here, it's from chocolate. I bought it at Woolies.
- 33:20Speaker 1: And this video did not go down, as you could imagine.
- 33:23Speaker 1: She ended up having to delete it because there was
- 33:25Speaker 1: so much backlash. Now, this incident with Sammy and the
- 33:28Speaker 1: listener led to this reaction video from TikToker Eva Dixon.
- 33:33Speaker 2: Guys, I swear to fucking God, there's this niche of
- 33:35Speaker 2: Australian influencers who literally act like their supporters are trying to, like,
- 33:39Speaker 2: kick their dogs. If I see another fucking instance where, like,
- 33:42Speaker 2: someone will be asking, oh, like, so what's happening with this? Like,
- 33:45Speaker 2: when's this happening? Or, like, what is this? And... The
- 33:48Speaker 2: influencer's response is like, I don't understand why the fuck
- 33:51Speaker 2: you would even comment this. Oh my fucking God, they're
- 33:54Speaker 2: trying to support you. I'm so sorry. It shows. Like,
- 33:57Speaker 2: it really shows that you're entitled. But it literally just
- 34:00Speaker 2: comes off as so fucking entitled. Like, oh my God.
- 34:03Speaker 2: God forbid someone's to fucking support you and you have
- 34:05Speaker 2: to comment back and be like.
- 34:07Speaker 7: Oh, like, it's happening then.
- 34:09Speaker 2: Your life is so hard.
- 34:11Speaker 7: Good grace.
- 34:11Speaker 1: I mean, that's really spot on. There are influencers who
- 34:18Speaker 1: give off this vibe that their fans are just these
- 34:22Speaker 1: annoying inconvenience that they have to deal with. And can't
- 34:25Speaker 1: they just go and get free clothes and go to
- 34:28Speaker 1: nice events without having to deal with these cretins? It's
- 34:30Speaker 1: actually like they're dirt on the sole of their shoe
- 34:33Speaker 1: and they're like, fucking get away. Don't talk to me.
- 34:35Speaker 1: And that video did resonate with a lot of people.
- 34:38Speaker 1: It has almost generated half a million views and 38,000 likes.
- 34:43Speaker 1: What makes this story even weirder is that following this
- 34:46Speaker 1: altercation with Nikita, Sammy and Izzy announced that Just For
- 34:50Speaker 1: Girls is actually coming back. So following the debacle, they
- 34:54Speaker 1: shared a photo of themselves at Coachella to their podcast
- 34:57Speaker 1: page and wrote, we're back after our amazing time at Coachella.
- 35:01Speaker 1: We are back behind the mics next week recording new eps.
- 35:04Speaker 1: Can't wait for you to hear it. I'm sorry, but
- 35:06Speaker 1: couldn't have they just fucking said that to begin with
- 35:08Speaker 1: instead of denigrating and insulting one of their longtime fans? Yeah,
- 35:12Speaker 1: it's like, why wouldn't you write, oh, news coming soon
- 35:15Speaker 1: or something like that? Yeah, and they're like, how fucking
- 35:17Speaker 1: dare you ask me one more time? The tone was
- 35:20Speaker 1: just so patronizing. I am interested to see if Nikita
- 35:23Speaker 1: will be tuning in. Maybe some hate listening now. Well, actually,
- 35:26Speaker 1: she said that she has unfollowed both of the girls
- 35:29Speaker 1: on Instagram, but- If it were me, I probably would
- 35:32Speaker 1: tune in just to hear what has been going on
- 35:34Speaker 1: and whether they would reference you. She's definitely tuning in. Yeah,
- 35:37Speaker 1: I think so. Well, I think that is all we
- 35:39Speaker 1: have time for today. Thank you so much for joining
