- 0:04SPEAKER_00: Hi there.
- 0:05SPEAKER_00: I'm your host, Corinne and this is Okay But Are You Good?
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: Where we check in ourselves on a weekly basis to see how we're doing.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: Are we living our best lives or are we just trying to get by?
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: Well, if I haven't made it obvious in these last eight weeks, I've just been trying to get by.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: Life has not been life in how I want it to be, and I just want my life to feel like mine again.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: I've been off.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: I haven't been living my best life, I guess.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: Nothing crazy or dramatic has happened.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: It just has not been how I've wanted to be going.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: And I feel like I've just gotten disconnected from my goals and the things I want out of this life.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: And it's interesting because like I'm still taking care of what I need to do, doing my responsibilities, being a grown-up.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: But I just along the way, like got really disconnected and just have not felt like myself.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: And it's almost like I'm watching myself do what I need to do from like an outside perspective.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: And I didn't realize like how off I was from my game until something brought me back.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: And I was like, oh, right.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: You have not been living the dream lately, but you're on you're back on your way to it.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: Like, here I am, world.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: I'm back and I'm ready to be better than ever.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: So let's get into it this week.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: So I've been so off my game and not feeling like myself because my routine has been off.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: This is why it's that constant have a routine that works to you, stick to it.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: And I did do that.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: I did stick to something.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: It worked for me.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: It worked really, really well for me.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: And then it got taken away when I got injured.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: So when I got injured, that switched up my entire day-to-day, my schedule, everything.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: I had more free time to do nothing.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: And someone with anxiety having nothing to do leaves you more room to overthink.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: And that is a recipe for disaster.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: And when you can't get the right movement in to help your mental health and get those endorphins going, it's just, it just keeps adding to this disaster pile.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: And I couldn't really do anything about it.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: So it's been really challenging.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: And, you know, not having your normal routine that you love that works for you really sucks.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: You I didn't realize how much I appreciate the chance to do what I want to do every day until it had to be shifted and taken away from me.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: And it was a long journey.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Two months is a long time.
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: And I lost the motivation to like do the things I like doing.
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: It's like fun things became a chore.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: Like putting a cute outfit on and going and hanging out with my friends, going to a new restaurant, just like talking to people, doing what I want to do, just like didn't sound fun, seemed like more of a chore.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: And I was just like, if I can't do what I want to do, I don't want to do anything.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: And that's not the right mindset.
- 3:04SPEAKER_00: But when you're in a slump, you're not living the life you want to, it's just like, well, then I'm just gonna stay home and watch my silly shows and scroll on my phone for endless hours and not be productive and like really set out with the right intentions.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: And it's like I'm watching myself just dig myself into a hole and I'm just letting it happen.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: And I'm, you know, still doing what I gotta do because someone's gotta pay these bills, right?
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: And, you know, I in the back of my head, I knew that I just have to keep letting this time pass.
- 3:39SPEAKER_00: I need to be in recovery and then I'll be fine.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: But it was a very long eight weeks and it was a very boring eight weeks.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: I wish I could have been like, I learned new language or learned a new hobby, but I just kind of gave up.
- 3:52SPEAKER_00: And I think a lot of people probably would have done the same because it takes too much energy and like motivation that I don't have time to like put together and like push myself through.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: I wish, you know, I could have, but I didn't.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: And it is what it is.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: Maybe next time I'll do better, but I will never be in this situation again.
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: I'll do what I can to avoid it and hope that this doesn't happen where I'm out for two months.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: But the good news is I'm finally clear to work out.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: And it's like, wow, I don't even know how to feel about it.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: It's like bittersweet, and it sounds ridiculous because it's like I finally got the golden ticket of like what I've been wanting.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: I, you know, I was scared that not working out would affect my mental and physical health.
- 4:37SPEAKER_00: And, you know, it did.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: But I reached the the finish line and now I can get on track and properly train for this half marathon next month.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: You know, just everything didn't go according to plan, but I just kind of had to accept it.
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: I totally moped around, but I accepted it and I'm just going to do my best and work hard to reach the my next finish line.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: And it's funny because now that I have my routine back, I'm like scared.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: I'm like, is this really what I want to do?
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: Like, do I really have to put all the effort in again?
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: And like, ugh, like it's scary and it's so silly because, like, what's wrong with you?
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: Like, you finally got your life back and now you don't know if you want it.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: But I know I just need like a week and I'll be good.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: I'll snap out of this and I'll be living my best life again.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: But it really made me appreciate like being healthy and like my own motivation and awareness of like what works for me and what I gotta stick to and to make sure I still have things to work towards because that is so important, not only for my physical, but my mental health.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: I really need things to work towards because if I don't have anything I'm working towards, then I get in this funk.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: And then it just is a recipe for disaster and it's a domino effect.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: And then it takes me so long to crawl out of that hole.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: So, yes, I can work out again.
- 6:03SPEAKER_00: I have, I'm and I'm really excited just to get movement in.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: But also, like, I had so much free time on my hands and I didn't love it.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: I thought it'd be like, cool, I'm saving so much time.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: I can go spend time with friends more or just like relax more.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: My house will be clean way more.
- 6:22SPEAKER_00: But it was kind of the opposite because when you have less time to do things, you really push it to the limit and value your time more.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: You make more use of your time.
- 6:32SPEAKER_00: And I wasn't making use of my time in these eight weeks because I'd had nothing but time.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: But I'm back, or I'm slowly getting back.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: And I'm proud of myself that I have a routine that works for me so well that like I sincerely miss it when I don't have it.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: But what I would want for the next time I have to switch up my routine dramatically, I need to figure out better resources or better like plan B's so I don't have such a big setback.
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: It has not been a fun summer, but that's life.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: You can only control what you can, and I controlled what I could, and that was basically sitting around and waiting to be recovered.
- 7:18SPEAKER_00: To me, it's funny because I haven't always been like this.
- 7:22SPEAKER_00: I don't even know when I started this like workout like endeavor.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: I think it no, I know it was a couple years back because everyone I worked for was with was super into working out.
- 7:33SPEAKER_00: So you just get like motivated to want to also work out.
- 7:36SPEAKER_00: And then that kind of kicked off this like workout fitness bug.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: And it just has so many benefits, you know?
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: And I just I really need it for my mental health.
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: So I'm I'm happy it's back.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: I can I can stop wasting money on memberships and finally make use of it.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: You know, a normal person probably would have paused it and I just kept not pausing it because I was like, I'll be back next week.
- 8:00SPEAKER_00: And then I just kept not being able to be back next week.
- 8:03SPEAKER_00: So here we are two months later.
- 8:05SPEAKER_00: But it's okay.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: We all can't be perfect, right?
- 8:08SPEAKER_00: But you know, I had so much free time, right?
- 8:11SPEAKER_00: Sitting around thinking about what makes me feel like me.
- 8:14SPEAKER_00: And it's if I haven't made it obvious, it's working out.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, okay, having a clean space, having the time to write out my thoughts, pen to paper, reading, like, and I feel like I've talked about that so much, but that is me.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: That is me being doing things I want to do.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: I haven't been traveling, which is such a bummer.
- 8:38SPEAKER_00: I have no trips on the schedule.
- 8:40SPEAKER_00: And I'm like, I want to get something on the books, but I think it just has to wait a little bit right now.
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: Instead of traveling, right now, it's like, okay, let's make more effort to stay more local, see your friends, like make these plans that do not exist.
- 8:57SPEAKER_00: Make these put these plans in emotion.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: You know, I just have to like keep coming up with plan B's and shifting and like get over the hump of like, okay, like you can't do this, so then we can't do anything at all.
- 9:10SPEAKER_00: Like, no, let's shift our mindset.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: And that's what I'm doing.
- 9:14SPEAKER_00: I want to like shift my mindset and like making positive, it's like romanticizing and a little bit of deluluness of the simple things in life.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: I think that's the secret to happiness is like finding the love and the good and the little things in life.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: Like, I know it's not realistic for me to go on a trip every week.
- 9:37SPEAKER_00: So I have to find other outlets that make me so happy and bring a little piece of joy.
- 9:42SPEAKER_00: And that's, you know, as simple as just getting coffee at my favorite coffee shop.
- 9:47SPEAKER_00: Or just like really enjoying having no plans on a weekend and being able to just relax, catch up on things that are on my never-ending to-do list.
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: Because I almost feel weird being on the other side.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: Like I'm finally at where I wanted to be these last eight weeks, and I'm like, okay, like maybe I should have enjoyed more time off, but I'm also really excited that I did what I needed to.
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: I didn't get more injured, and now I can enjoy life again.
- 10:20SPEAKER_00: I can feel like myself because that's really what I've been missing, is I have not felt like myself.
- 10:27SPEAKER_00: And I mean, I missed, I missed her.
- 10:29SPEAKER_00: And like I said, it's gonna take some time.
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: It's only been a couple days.
- 10:34SPEAKER_00: I've been cleared and can get back on track, but I feel it in my heart, like, okay, like we're back, baby.
- 10:41SPEAKER_00: We're back and better than ever.
- 10:43SPEAKER_00: And like, we're only gonna get stronger and grow more mentally, physically, emotionally, and just like kind of shift your mindset of like, okay, let's not take the little things in life for granted anymore.
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: And this is why we've been working towards being more present and in the moment, because when you have no choice but to be in the moment, you like appreciate it more and you like miss the times that you weren't in the moment.
- 11:10SPEAKER_00: And obviously, I'm still gonna have those off days.
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: I'm still gonna have those days where I'm focused too much on the future, I'm overthinking, or I'm complaining about how sore I am from working out.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: But then I'm gonna remember.
- 11:22SPEAKER_00: Remember when you literally couldn't do what you wanted to do?
- 11:25SPEAKER_00: And then I'm just gonna zip it and probably go and work out again the next day or have a rest day.
- 11:31SPEAKER_00: And I think that's what I've learned the most from this awful eight weeks is that I took for granted my routine, my the little joys in life.
- 11:41SPEAKER_00: And I don't want to feel like that again.
- 11:43SPEAKER_00: I don't want to go backwards.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: I'm always working towards being better and happier and living my best life.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: Because why would you want anything else?
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: Why am I what am I working towards?
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: I, for me, I really am working towards living my best life and finding the secret to life, which is happiness, and everyone's happiness looks different.
- 12:06SPEAKER_00: My happiness is being able to do my daily routine and have no limitations and not take that for granted and just really feel like I'm living my life again and not just trying to get through the days.
- 12:21SPEAKER_00: So, yes, I've been off.
- 12:23SPEAKER_00: I'm very aware of that.
- 12:25SPEAKER_00: I've not been living my best life, but we're back on track.
- 12:29SPEAKER_00: We and working towards living our best life again and redirecting our mindset of like what makes me feel like myself, what gets me out of bed in the morning, what brings this like happiness to my life?
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: And that is my routine.
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: My very boring but very consistent routine that I created myself.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: Because that helps me be the best version of myself and live in my best life.
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: So if you've been feeling off, if life has not felt like you've wanted it to feel like you are not alone, I'm right there with you.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: But we got this.
- 13:04SPEAKER_00: We're gonna get back on track and live in living the best life we possibly can.
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: So don't worry, because it's only September and we still got time to work towards our goals for the end of the year and for next year.
- 13:19SPEAKER_00: So you're not alone.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: I'm always here trying to get it together.
- 13:24SPEAKER_00: So don't forget to ask yourself, okay, but are you good?
- 13:27SPEAKER_00: And make sure to like and subscribe, and I'll see you all next week.
- 13:31SPEAKER_00: Bye.
