- 0:00Speaker 1: Greig Way, joined by the producer Cameron Parker. Glad to
- 0:03Speaker 1: have you with us, Glad that you are alongside plenty
- 0:07Speaker 1: to discuss coming up in a few minutes, we'll talk
- 0:10Speaker 1: some baseball with Gene Watson, our MLB insider, because this
- 0:14Speaker 1: is awards week. We find out who wins the MVP
- 0:17Speaker 1: and the Rookie of the Year and the Manager of
- 0:19Speaker 1: the Year and all that stuff. There's that, and then
- 0:22Speaker 1: the free agency derby officially gets underway tomorrow because the
- 0:31Speaker 1: nineteenth was the day the deadline for players who were
- 0:36Speaker 1: tendered offers by Major League clubs to accept those deals
- 0:42Speaker 1: or to seek out employment with another organization. So we'll
- 0:45Speaker 1: get some thoughts from Gena on that that's coming up.
- 0:50Speaker 1: The NFL concludes tonight this week Cowboys and Texans. I
- 1:02Speaker 1: guess we would have been a little more pumped up
- 1:03Speaker 1: about it if the Cowboys have been more competitive, even
- 1:06Speaker 1: though the Texans have had.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Their share of stumbles, you know of late. Do get
- 1:11Speaker 2: Nico Collins back tonight.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Okay, so you're calling it, your calling is a is
- 1:15Speaker 1: a Cowboys win tonight. You're you're on record, You're you're
- 1:20Speaker 1: calling it for the Cowboys.
- 1:21Speaker 2: You know, what it would be fun to see Texans
- 1:24Speaker 2: Twitter just absolutely melt down, because they they have been
- 1:28Speaker 2: melting down the last two weeks. Now, I'm not a texansater.
- 1:32Speaker 2: I like the team. I like c J. Stroud, I
- 1:34Speaker 2: like their talent. They're a fun, underrated team. I hope
- 1:38Speaker 2: their offense can get figured out here, and having having
- 1:41Speaker 2: Niko back will help. Losing Digs out for the year
- 1:43Speaker 2: kind of sucks. I don't know if well Anderson's gonna
- 1:44Speaker 2: play the night which is I think they'll be okay.
- 1:48Speaker 2: I think Craig, you can play linebacker against Rush to
- 1:51Speaker 2: night and and we'll be okay. Anderson is out for
- 1:53Speaker 2: the day's game. So but seeing Twitter, but.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Nico being back, you know that that should help that
- 2:00Speaker 1: that should help the Texans offense.
- 2:02Speaker 2: And you know, Cowboys offense was already struggling with Dak
- 2:06Speaker 2: in the lineup. Now you take him out, I mean,
- 2:09Speaker 2: who knows what's going to happen. I love this.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Todd Archer does a great job covering the Cowboys for ESPN,
- 2:17Speaker 1: and he says they're talking about how so many things
- 2:22Speaker 1: have conspired to derail this season for the Cowboys. He said,
- 2:26Speaker 1: maybe the first sign of trouble came in training camp
- 2:29Speaker 1: and ox start, a fire started, and players remember that
- 2:32Speaker 1: there was the fire that happened In the three months
- 2:35Speaker 1: since the Cowboys season has deteriorated into a three and
- 2:40Speaker 1: six record. They have a zero point two percent chance
- 2:44Speaker 1: to make the playoffs, according to ESPN.
- 2:46Speaker 2: So you're telling me there's a chance, boy.
- 2:51Speaker 1: So it's hey, the Rams were three and six last
- 2:53Speaker 1: year and they made the playoffs.
- 2:54Speaker 2: They flipped it. How about every team in your division
- 2:57Speaker 2: at five and five other than the Cardinals are four
- 3:00Speaker 2: but only one game back.
- 3:02Speaker 1: It's still up in the air to see who's going
- 3:05Speaker 1: to do that. Yes, the NFC worst, NFC West used
- 3:10Speaker 1: to call the NFC East the NFC Leased.
- 3:12Speaker 2: The NFC worst.
- 3:13Speaker 1: The NFC West couldn't be any worse than That year,
- 3:17Speaker 1: the Seahawks were the division chance with a seven and nine.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Record, but they still won a playoff game. They did.
- 3:22Speaker 1: They went to New Orleans and won. After that, that's.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Where beast mode was born.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, So here's a couple of things that
- 3:29Speaker 1: have happened at the Cowboys, says Brandon Aubrey Mister week
- 3:32Speaker 1: of schedule practice before the forty nine Ers game, when
- 3:34Speaker 1: he got picked.
- 3:35Speaker 2: To serve on a jury duty for the Cowboys Best
- 3:37Speaker 2: Player this year.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Yeah, he said he didn't think he would be picked
- 3:40Speaker 1: because of the celebrity status, but he was celebrity statue
- 3:44Speaker 1: wow as a kicker. In order to get his work
- 3:47Speaker 1: in after he was done in the courtroom, Aubrey came
- 3:49Speaker 1: to the Star around seven o'clock in the evening. On
- 3:52Speaker 1: the first day, he was unable to kick indoors because
- 3:53Speaker 1: there was event going on inside Ford Center. On the
- 3:56Speaker 1: second there was a high school football game is on Friday.
- 4:01Speaker 1: Aubrey hold of Brian Anger and longtime snapper Trent Sieg
- 4:04Speaker 1: as well as special teams coordinator John Fosso, had to
- 4:07Speaker 1: work in almost complete darkness on the outdoor fields. They
- 4:10Speaker 1: did get some help from flood lights. So and it said,
- 4:14Speaker 1: and from the nineteen two hundred lights shining from volume.
- 4:19Speaker 1: That's the sculpture hanging from the ceiling in the lobby
- 4:21Speaker 1: of the Star. And then the sprinkler started coming on afterwards.
- 4:26Speaker 2: So he had that.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Brandon Cooks de fellowing the infection that required a clean
- 4:33Speaker 1: out procedure just now starting to practice again. Then Jerry
- 4:39Speaker 1: got mad and threatened the job and the host on
- 4:40Speaker 1: one O five through the fan Trayvon Diggs gets into
- 4:44Speaker 1: it with Mike Leslie Channel eight in Dallas. Ezekiel Elliott
- 4:50Speaker 1: inactive for disciplinary reasons, Dak Prescott suffers what has turned
- 4:54Speaker 1: out to be a season ending injury. Anyway, it goes
- 4:58Speaker 1: on and on and on. Oh yeah, sunlight too. Why
- 5:02Speaker 1: don't we just tear the whole place down?
- 5:05Speaker 2: So Micah's podcast and yeah, Cowboy players going at it.
- 5:09Speaker 2: You have that going on, just the constant talk, you know,
- 5:13Speaker 2: Micah with this comment about Mike McCarthy, you know, you
- 5:17Speaker 2: can do whatever he wants, you know, when asked about
- 5:19Speaker 2: the Cowboys need him to come back next season. It's
- 5:21Speaker 2: just been a complete show as it usually is. And
- 5:25Speaker 2: I think that's, you know, designed by Jerry Jones and
- 5:28Speaker 2: this team. I really do. I'm not you know, I'm
- 5:31Speaker 2: not saying that. I don't think you saw all that
- 5:33Speaker 2: crazy stupid turmoils. Maybe not, but he wants the team
- 5:37Speaker 2: to still be in the spotlight. Yeah, I mean, here
- 5:39Speaker 2: we are. It's it's week eleven. The Cowboys have no chance,
- 5:42Speaker 2: and I'm sure there's still a topic on first take, right,
- 5:45Speaker 2: You're still talking about well as long as Stephen A.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Smith is.
- 5:48Speaker 1: Yeah, there he's gonna be Yeah, he'll do his little charade,
- 5:52Speaker 1: you know, yeah, he'll do all that. So anyway, so
- 5:56Speaker 1: it is Cowboys Texans tonight.
- 5:58Speaker 2: There is Manning cast.
- 6:00Speaker 1: There is Manning cast. I think that's what Linda's not
- 6:04Speaker 1: gonna do tonight. She really digs the Manning cast. So
- 6:09Speaker 1: we'll probably we'll probably watch some of that tonight.
- 6:12Speaker 2: It'll it'll be like a thirteen to three game. At halftime,
- 6:15Speaker 2: it'll be pretty ugly, and then I think the Texans
- 6:17Speaker 2: will pull away late. I'm you know, Shroud and Niko
- 6:22Speaker 2: are due for a sixty five yard touchdown bomb third quarter,
- 6:25Speaker 2: there was a final big something like twenty to nine. Yeah,
- 6:28Speaker 2: you know something something gross. Brendan Aubrey will definitely count
- 6:31Speaker 2: for more points than anyone else in the Cowboys, right
- 6:33Speaker 2: that is. I don't if you can lock that in
- 6:35Speaker 2: on FanDuel or whatever, but that's something that I would
- 6:38Speaker 2: look at if you are a gambling man. I think
- 6:42Speaker 2: believe he was leading the league for a moment.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Yeah right, yeah, it wouldn't be justin Tucker's been struggling, struggled.
- 6:49Speaker 2: That's tough to watch, isn't it. Yeah.
- 6:50Speaker 1: And then and then let me tell you this, those
- 6:53Speaker 1: of us who have Lamar Jackson our fantasy team, I've
- 6:55Speaker 1: lost my game yesterday because Lamar and Jackson stunk up
- 6:58Speaker 1: the joint.
- 7:00Speaker 2: I get this. I'm in a two quarterback league.
- 7:02Speaker 1: So the other one was Matthew Stafford, and I almost
- 7:06Speaker 1: almost started, almost started uh Bo Nick's yesterday, but I
- 7:12Speaker 1: was gonna start him in case in place of Stafford,
- 7:14Speaker 1: not Lamar Jackson.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:16Speaker 1: I know he'd been won in three against the Steetherers,
- 7:17Speaker 1: but I was like, he'll be good. No, Stafford had
- 7:21Speaker 1: a big game, got me thirty three points. Nicks at
- 7:25Speaker 1: thirty three points would have played him. Oh no, No
- 7:28Speaker 1: I didn't, So I suffered for that.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Yeah. I think Mike Tomlin has a has a has
- 7:32Speaker 2: Lamar Jackson figured out he does, He's got his number
- 7:36Speaker 2: on that. You mentioned the kicking. It wasn't just Tucker,
- 7:40Speaker 2: it was everybody. McPherson missed two field goals that helped
- 7:44Speaker 2: would have helped the Bengals win the game. Yeah, Tyler Bassin, Yeah.
- 7:47Speaker 1: That's another thing that helped me. It didn't help me.
- 7:50Speaker 1: Missed an extra point.
- 7:51Speaker 2: You know. Bears, of course had a field goal. Way,
- 7:55Speaker 2: was there anyone in the world who thought the Bears
- 7:57Speaker 2: were going to win that game on the field gold.
- 7:58Speaker 2: I mean he came out and everybody, this is going
- 8:00Speaker 2: to get blocked or he's going to miss it wide
- 8:02Speaker 2: left or right now. Well, you there was a higher
- 8:03Speaker 2: chance of him not making that than making it. Because
- 8:06Speaker 2: the Chicago Bears are cursed.
- 8:07Speaker 1: And Matt eberflews his complaining today. He says they should
- 8:10Speaker 1: have called a penalty. Oh what happened on that? Oh
- 8:13Speaker 1: was it legal? Jumping over the center time leaping thing?
- 8:16Speaker 2: Uh huh?
- 8:17Speaker 1: Said he should have done it, but it didn't so anyway,
- 8:22Speaker 1: so it didn't happen. And I was in Chicago, Yesterdy
- 8:24Speaker 1: saw a ton of Packers and Bears fans walking to
- 8:26Speaker 1: the Soldier Field because when Trust Arena where the Texas
- 8:29Speaker 1: women played, that was that was pretty close to it.
- 8:33Speaker 2: But yeah, it didn't happen on that Bears not to
- 8:37Speaker 2: be all right.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Up next, we'll talk some baseball with Gene Watson, our
- 8:41Speaker 1: MLB insider. When we continue on Sports Radio AM thirteen
- 8:43Speaker 1: under the zone of the iHeartRadio app
