Transcript
- 0:04[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to Three Yards Perkati, a podcast covering the Miami Dolphins and the NFL.
- 0:11[SPEAKER_01]: Now, here's your host, Chris, Alf, and Simon.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: And we're on.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: This is Three Yards Perkari, my favorite, or I guess.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Clancy is here.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: Chris Kaufman is here with The Great.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_00]: What do you even call that?
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: Was like a subheading of?
- 0:31[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_02]: It's a they called it a heading a headline or I don't know if it's Kyron or whatever.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, it's it's just it's fabulous.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's it's just fabulous.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_00]: Especially if you listen to like if you listen to the media like I do like I spent like we're playing the Raiders and I'm listening to a bunch of Las Vegas media.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_00]: Local be if you listen to the 49ers local be like this comes up like three times a week.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: That's all they talk about.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: The substation?
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the substation.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: Like the substation is keeping us from winning a Super Bowl, you know?
- 1:07[SPEAKER_00]: And well, you can't argue with it, right?
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: Like the keep getting close and injury keeps decimating that team.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, before we went off there, this is the preview for 40 Managed Offends.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_00]: And believe it or not, there's a world where they get smoked in this game, but you feel a little bit better about the team.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: There's 13 and a half point under dogs.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: That's one way you could feel better about it if they make a game of this into the fourth quarter There are other ways that they can make a game of this and we'll begin right there First half let's talk about what we want to see.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see and I'll start off and then I'll bring in Chris here
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: I want to say this thing play as designed at least for the last few months.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: I was shocked when you posted that number of how few, 12 personnel they ran in that game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: Like that was a feature, it was a feature of training camp.
- 2:05[SPEAKER_00]: You saw Dolcech, you saw Casemaric out there consistently.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_00]: A lot and then all of a sudden against the raiders.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_00]: They're not doing any of that.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: So I want to see this team play as design.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: I don't care if you get you get your teeth kicked in.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, great.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_00]: Doesn't matter You're not better than the 49ers if you beat them.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, let's pop the champagne right, but you're not better than that team.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: I just want to see this team play as designed
- 2:31[SPEAKER_00]: for at least into the fourth quarter and if you want to go if you want to freak out because you're down three touchdowns by all means, but that's what I want to see this weekend.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_00]: What's say you Chris?
- 2:45[SPEAKER_02]: I say one you know we talked about on the last show how and you basically just alluded to it.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_02]: John Erick's Sullivan and Jeff Haffley have done everything this that they were going to do.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_02]: They they they describe something and then they go ahead and and make it happen.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_02]: Whether it's the personnel strategy, how they were coaching the team and training camp and you know, so on and so forth.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_02]: As you alluded to that game offensively, probably the play calling and the game plan as they went forward was not what was described.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_02]: You know, you have Jeff Haffley joking about giving to on a chance 40 touches a game.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_02]: Well, he got 14.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_02]: You know, that's not that's not good enough.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that what I would ultimately look for them to do in this game is just what you said is is we got to see what we were promised for better or worse.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_02]: In terms of giving running the ball trying to establish that identity.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_02]: for better or worse.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that, and I get people in the comments and stuff like, you know, all you're saying, don't try to win the game.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_02]: Every game should be called like a playoff game.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_02]: I don't necessarily think that's true.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I think that there is such a thing as development, uh, development based, uh, play call again, game planning, um, that is designed for winning, you know, no, it's not like you're trying to lose the game at hand, but what you are trying to do is establish the, the, um, the habits that are good for winning and, um, and so I think that that's, uh, that's something that you need to focus on in this game.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_03]: salmon.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, look I just want to see a little bit of sort of marginal improvement really.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's what we all kind of are hoping for.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_03]: The things that were bad last week are a little bit better this week or, you know, significantly better in an item.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_03]: Well, but you know, you just want to see, you guys alluded to, you know, the play calling improve.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_03]: You want to see the quarterback improve.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_03]: You want to see the run game improve.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_03]: If you want to see a bit of improvement on the left, especially with with Kaden
- 4:58[SPEAKER_03]: You want to see Austin Jackson, and that's going to be very tough out when it boasts her and those guys coming down the pipe, but I want to see Brewer play well and he's got a tough out with a digger zooer and a friend of Warner, and then, you know, the receivers, the defensively interior of that defensive line, you know, you want to see them be able to stuff Klan black and Christian McAfrey not get going, and then, you know, Chris Johnson, whether he's inside it or is outside, you know, he's got some serious
- 5:28[SPEAKER_03]: You know, so those sort of things George Kittle obviously playing in the slot, but just overall I just want to see some some natural improvement otherwise we really I mean we're going to be for long season anyway, but we're really going to be for long season if we don't see any and I don't there was always relevant to that improvement I think you can lose by 50 but still be improved and you were last week just because it's a better team, but I just want all things just gradually moving in the right direction.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, watching all the availabilitys and by the way, they stayed out west, like they moved from Las Vegas to the Napa Valley, which is a nice place in the country, you know, to spend a week practicing and getting ready for the 49ers.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_00]: But in the availabilitys, some of the beat asked questions about that game, and I go back to something that Marc Schlerath said it during the game.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_00]: He kind of set the stage.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_00]: He said, you know, you're down to scores, you got about three possessions left.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_00]: simple math, need the score twice, need to stop them all three times.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_00]: Well, they kind of stopped them all three times.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_00]: But that's when the panic set in and I think that that's where I want to see a difference.
- 6:35[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see them
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: I want to see them not get so off script, but I want to ask you this, Chris.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: Halfly was asked about, you know, the 14 touches, etc., etc., and he kind of said, he got to put it on the doorstep of execution.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: We didn't run the ball all that well, so therefore we didn't run the ball enough, do you buy it?
- 6:59[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that is one of the reasons that you don't, I mean, it's probably reason number
- 7:08[SPEAKER_02]: that you don't end up running the ball enough and it's why we talk about correlation versus causation and you never read it points to the morgue around the ball, the more the higher chance you order to win the game, but it's really probably the other way around the more you're winning the game, the more you're running the ball.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, I thought that that was just protecting his coach.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_02]: That's all, you know, he's protecting his offensive coordinator.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't know what conversations they might have had in the background, but I know the offensive coordinator himself so that that's not enough touches for tomorrow.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_02]: Like he said, you know, that's that's not that that ain't it.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_02]: So I think the message probably has been sent in private, even if even if half Lee is going to protect his his people in public, which is his job.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_02]: then we'll see it this weekend.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_02]: We'll see this weekend if they do that.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_02]: But I would rather they not chase the scoreboard, especially since, you know, I mentioned before in our previews, there's going to be games against certain offenses.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_02]: This defense is going to be so bad in the first month of the year that they're going to let up 40 plus points in a game.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_02]: Multiple times.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_02]: The San Francisco 49ers offense is exactly the kind of offense that would happen against.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_02]: So, so you're not, don't chase that scoreboard, but you know, I don't understand that on this team, in this moment with this, this task in front of them.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_02]: So that's the only thing I would take away from it.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: Simon the availability is what did to make of what halfway was saying all week and even Chris Abraham the special teams coach like wow like he basically put it out there well we don't have certain guys that you know that they've been injured and that whole units and flux and I'm trying to get the right guys in there but mostly what did you think of what halfway was saying about that execution actually caused the game script
- 9:18[SPEAKER_03]: these are experienced.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_03]: But it is, it is.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_03]: And Chris is right.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_03]: It's protecting the other coach.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_03]: It's bullshit.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_03]: Like, this is an experience.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_03]: This is not a, you know, this is not a rookie coach.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_03]: This is not a coach coach in this first game.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_03]: You know, he's an experience, head coach is coach in the playoffs.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_03]: It's, it's bullshit.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_03]: It's semantics.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_03]: So I don't, I don't buy a single single.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 9:42[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to go to break here on the other side of the break.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_00]: We will talk about this game a little bit because Chris alluded to something like this is one of those teams that can actually, you know, pop the cork on this dolphin defense.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_00]: I tend to agree, especially after we saw the tendencies that this dolphin defense had in the first game, namely playing a lot of cover three.
- 10:02[SPEAKER_00]: This is not the team you want to be doing that against.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: But first, let me tell you about
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: and how unprepared I am to actually put on the graphic.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_00]: There it is.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: Football season is here and Thursday, Saturdays and Sundays and Mondays.

- 11:16[SPEAKER_00]: And we're back.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Chris, you mentioned it.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: Like cover three, there's one thing about Brock Perti.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, he may not have the greatest arm in the world.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_00]: Otherwise, I think he has that happens to have pretty good arm time by my definition of arm time angles.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: The throws he's willing to accept against certain coverages.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_00]: I love his courage.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_00]: certain quarterbacks do not play with his courage.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_00]: Like he thinks he can make all those throws.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_00]: And if you play a lot of cover three against him, he's gonna try a lot of those throws of Mike Evans on the boundary that Miami just can't squeeze with that secondary.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_00]: So do you agree with me that they're gonna have to almost reverse their tendencies from week one where they were 48% cover three?
- 12:01[SPEAKER_00]: And they're not to go to a lot of two deep shell, a lot of quarters against this team.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_00]: And just tackle in the flat.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_00]: like start there.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_00]: Do you agree with me?
- 12:11[SPEAKER_00]: You muted Chris.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry about that.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's certainly a consideration, but it's more, I think the bigger question that I have and the more the thing that I would be a little bit more, um,
- 12:26[SPEAKER_02]: Obsessive about is how are we going to make it like Brock pretty can has a tendency people don't people think that he's a very on time get the ball out, you know, super quick kind of quarterback and that's not really necessarily true.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_02]: How do we make Brock pretty hold on to the ball a little bit longer and how do we pressure him and make him pay for that.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_02]: And we're going to have to figure out a blitz strategy that actually works against Brock Birdy and you know, one that that he's going to be, that he's going to be, um,
- 13:09[SPEAKER_02]: you know unprepared for I guess and and that's a challenge that's a challenge because he's seen a lot at this point He's in a good system that finds good good answers against the blitz, but it's also the thing that you're going to need to do because I don't know that you're going to get the pressure on him unless you know for example, Zack Seeler somebody like that really really ends up
- 13:35[SPEAKER_02]: dominating the, you know, the interior of the offensive line.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_02]: You're not going to get much damaged done against Trent Williams.
- 13:43[SPEAKER_02]: I think certainly the Rams found that out last week.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that it's more about what do you do to get him to if he's to take advantage of if he's holding ball for a little bit longer.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_02]: And that's going to have to be blitz strategy.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_02]: That's going to have to be creative defensive fronts.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_02]: Things that Jeff Haffley, to his credit, has a history of producing in his games.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_02]: Probably why he was so disappointed in that one game overseas when Kevin Petulot admitted
- 14:25[SPEAKER_02]: They had seen his defensive fronts in trading camp from fan video, but so he's going to really have to pull some stuff out.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_02]: If he wants to stop them offensively, you know, but those receivers, the bigger the bigger receivers being like Mike Evans, Steve Osamial, like that's going to be, that's going to be a bit of an issue for this group tackling after the
- 14:55[SPEAKER_02]: I don't, I guess we'll see, but for me, it's more pressure strategy than it is covered three.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_00]: Simon.
- 15:04[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, what was the question again, sorry?
- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to have to be completely out of character, at least the way they're in their tendencies in week one of a lot of cover three.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to have to play a lot more cover, cover four, essentially, to just tackle and just leave the game to your linebackers tackling in the flat and just don't allow things on the boundary.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_03]: So lots of arse though when you've gone.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_03]: Arse like you should.
- 15:26[SPEAKER_03]: And you've got cars like McAfrey, when you've got cars like George Kittle.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_03]: You can make plays underneath.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_03]: Do you know what I mean?
- 15:32[SPEAKER_03]: I think that's a big arse could be alive back there.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_03]: I just, you know, I'm not gonna say until we get to the kind of what you think the score is, but I think it's gonna be an extremely difficult out this week.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_03]: And I'm expecting them to continue to play defensively like it did last week, which is to play tough, they have to make tackles.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_03]: I think the shore is dribbling going to IR's on a good thing because in terms of that speed over the top, you know, as great and as the first ballot hall of fame as Mike Evans should be, you know, he's not going to burn you down the field, same with Devo, the obviously the exact there is democracy in any other that the big touchdown.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_03]: pass on the deep ball.
- 16:15[SPEAKER_03]: So they're going to have to be careful for that.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_03]: It's not like they can just kind of sit and just think they're not going to get beat and over the top because Robinson, Jacob Cowling, etc.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_03]: can kind of blow over the top.
- 16:26[SPEAKER_03]: So I just think it got to be secure, really secure and tackle any can't miss tackles.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_03]: and it's going to be a really difficult day, I think, are challenging day and a good experience, good learning experience for someone like Chris Johnson, who's going to see it all for a lot of Kittle, and all for a lot of my Kevin's, and all for a Deba Samuel, so we're really will be a welcome to the NFL.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_02]: Workment worth mentioning Simon that Mike Evans, I didn't really show it last week.
- 16:54[SPEAKER_02]: Mike Evans has a significant amount of history working this lot and And not that he's a slot, you know, I identify not that you would identify him as a slot receiver that's certainly not the case, but he's done it.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_02]: a lot in his career.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_02]: And considering last week, it was a, let's put the bull's eye on the rookie and run a third of our pass offense through him.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_02]: You know, this is your best receiver.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_02]: And if you're the San Francisco 49 is your best pass capturing target between he and George Kiddell.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_02]: This is another test for Chris Johnson.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_02]: And so it's going to be test.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be one
- 17:41[SPEAKER_02]: in my opinion, the coaches are going to have to figure out some answers to help Chris Johnson win beat that test, you know, and it's not, it's not just going to be on Johnson alone, it's also going to be on the safeties that, you know, evidently weren't where they were supposed to be in a couple of plays last week as Jeff Ashley said.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_02]: So, so that's one, that's one real rubber meat throw test, and the other one is Kyle use check in the way that they used him in motions.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_02]: And the run game last week, it was one of those Mike McDaniel type of type of innovations, yeah, but that's all about that's going to be all about the worky Jacob Rodriguez the green dot player, you know, and and so figuring that out.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_02]: Because they are going to try and confuse him on those calls.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_02]: They are going to try and make it difficult for him adjusting the defense as you get formations, which is, and as you get the use check in those creative motions.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_02]: In particular, it bulls eyes going to be on two rookies, Chris Johnson and Jacob Rodriguez, and you know, welcome to the NFL.
- 18:49[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and this is precisely one of those games, right?
- 18:52[SPEAKER_00]: It's one of those games where Calshanna and knows exactly what he's up against.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_00]: Even if he may think the Jake Rodriguez is a really capable player, but if it's brain versus brain, and I could get this guy to just make the wrong call, I could get out leverage the dolphin defense for a quick hit or on a quick outside zone when I'm showing you inside zone and that's what Calshanna and does, and does very, very well.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_00]: All right, let's flip the ball to the other side.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_00]: It's hard to say that the 49ers had any vulnerabilities after they just smashed the ram's offense, right?
- 19:23[SPEAKER_00]: But there's one thing that stood out like a sore thumb.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_00]: Ram's ran very well in between the time he's in that game, consistently.
- 19:32[SPEAKER_00]: Offer Collins is a consequential player for these 49ers.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_00]: They don't have him.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_00]: They're much weaker up front.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_00]: I have to start there, right?
- 19:40[SPEAKER_00]: You have to start somewhere.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_00]: Man, if there's ever the game to go run run pass or run run play action pass,
- 19:47[SPEAKER_00]: It'll be this one success in between the tackles they don't get it this thing could get extremely ugly you get it you might make it to the fourth quarter you agree Chris.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think that's that's exactly what you would want to do and in particular switching for Mike mechanics offense and his running style.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_02]: into what I think that Bobby Slovak has alluded to really in his press conferences, but also, you know, I think you can see it on the film.
- 20:19[SPEAKER_02]: I think that they are trying to establish a runoff and that is a little bit different, that is a little bit more physical, physical based, and a little bit more insight running.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_02]: And so this will be a test of that this week.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_02]: Because I think that in this case, you are going to want to get more of their linebackers on the field.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_02]: Like you are going to want to get Garrett Wallow, Jayden Dugger on the field, test out Drake Greenlaw who has played a lot of football in the last couple of years.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_02]: Um, if you, if you think about it, uh, and, you know, yes, of course there's Fred Warner and, and we know that he's a god among men, but, um, but I think that otherwise, you're going to test these linebackers a lot, and that goes to what we said at the beginning.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_02]: use more to tight end, you know, use more while they used these enough 21 personnel before, but but using a bit more to tight end, getting more of that base defense on the field, getting more linebackers on the field and then trying to victimize the defense of front players, guys like CJ West and James Thompson, Grace and Paul, you know, I don't necessarily know that the, I mean, I don't know, that's not a dominant front.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_02]: It's not.
- 21:40[SPEAKER_02]: So, well, the edges are dominant, but that's the edges were a danger to Mike McDaniel football more than, then I think, what Bobby slow promises.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_02]: So, it would be fascinating to see if the dolphins are able to do that, it's fascinating if the dolphins are able to use Ollie Gordon more in order to do that.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_03]: Simon.
- 22:09[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, so good.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_03]: I'll just sit in and look at my phone.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_03]: I thought every question is going to increase.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_03]: It's all good.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I put Chris on the right hand side.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_00]: So he gets the first question.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_00]: Usually you're on the right hand side and you get the first question.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_03]: That's all good.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_03]: What was the question?
- 22:23[SPEAKER_00]: I forgot, really, yeah, it's how weak the 49ers showed to put into the Rams of the middle.
- 22:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_00]: If this is ever going to be the game that you go run, run, play action paths, it's yeah.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_03]: Look, I think they've obviously got really good players, you don't want to let the pin the race back with Nick Bosa, right?
- 22:41[SPEAKER_03]: You don't want to let them, you don't want to let Fred Warner dictate, you look at the secondary and option style is developing into a really good player.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_03]: Malik, Mustafa, really good player.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_03]: When healthy, obviously, Diomedol is still a good player.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_03]: But I think they can be had at times, you know, you can get matchups with some of the other players.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_03]: I think Renato Green is still a bit raw.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_03]: I think that you can work some of those safety jay rounds of decent player, but some old friends there and Jack Jones and Ashish and Davis and Sierra Niel and those guys.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_03]: And I think like you say, being able to run up the middle on a CJ West on a, you know, the Diggas who are, if Grace and Holton comes in, I loved him coming out, but you know, he's a little bit undersized and he's got that kind of pressure package player.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_03]: So can you catch them in some of those pressure packages where they've got lighter fronts as well?
- 23:31[SPEAKER_03]: But don't be afraid just to pin your ears back and just, you know, run out of the middle of them.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_03]: I think it won't just be a channel.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_03]: I think they might want to hammer a little bit with all Ian with with Jalen and that's certainly what I'd look to try and do, especially with those tight insects, the movement of Casmaric etc etc.
- 23:47[SPEAKER_03]: Somebody's obviously going to have to try and take Fred Warner out as best as possible, which is an extremely difficult job because he's a first
- 23:56[SPEAKER_03]: And, but yeah, I think that, you know, I think there will be opportunities for them to move the ball a little bit, especially in the run game.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_02]: So Simon and Alf, do you remember the old Kevin Y versus AC Thomas?
- 24:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_02]: How do you feel about an Aaron Burr versus a, versus a trend water here?
- 24:16[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, look, I think it's, it's best on best, right?
- 24:18[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, that's right.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_03]: You've got the best middle line back in the league, and I'll give you the best central league.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_03]: I didn't have very good game last week.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_03]: and you do wonder, it'll be interesting to see as the start of stylistically our offerings changes a little bit, you know, whether that's in the detriment of what of what Brodo does best, but I can get we a fascinating matchup and a fascinating battle, and I'm not going to say it's almost going to decide the game, so it'll be decided.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_03]: elsewhere.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_03]: But I think it'll be a really important part of how the Dolphins can move the ball.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_03]: But I think the thing about Warner that is so good and so different almost anybody else in the game is that he can play further off the lines to the point where he's not attracted by climbing linemen, but can still just have the insane speed and angular ability and pursuit of ability to get outside the numbers.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_03]: faster quick running passes on teammates to get there to make tackles and that's the thing you just can't count in it's whether you're you know the greatest sensor in the history of the NFL or whether you're arguably the best sensor or a top three top five sensor in the league as brewer obviously is.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_03]: Some players are just you know built differently and Warner is that guy.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, one or one is a special, a special athlete.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_00]: And I think it'll be an athletic contest between those two.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_00]: Well, my why and Zack Thomas was just like a battle of will of me on me.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, they kept smashing into each other until usually why wouldn't a lot of those battles.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_00]: And that's no, you know, that's no knock on Zack.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_00]: It's two Hall of Amers, right?
- 25:53[SPEAKER_00]: But this will be an athletic contest like this is one that you're gonna watch on the alt-22 You're like, oh, that's pretty slick there by Aron Brewer and oh, that's why Fred Warner is the first ball of all the famer You know, so Yeah, oh, it's it's time to pick that game.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_00]: I'll go first and then I'll bring in Simon here Wow, yeah, yeah, yeah, next time we just squeaky wheel squeaky wheel gets the grease
- 26:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so look, I circled four games that I didn't think were good spots for this team where they wouldn't be competitive.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_00]: I love to see this team make it again in game in the fourth quarter.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_00]: They're 13 and a half point underdogs for a reason.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_00]: I think they'll hang around.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think you can see some good things scoreboard is just not going to be friendly and I do have the 49ers covering the 13 and a half.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_00]: And it won't be that bad, but over 41 to 20, I think they'll pull away late, 41 to 20, 49ers, what's their use, Simon?
- 26:57[SPEAKER_03]: I can give it a bit of a blood bath, actually.
- 27:01[SPEAKER_03]: Look, like we said at the top, you want to see some improvement, hopefully that comes.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_03]: I just don't think it's going to happen on the score sheet, I think you'll be 44, 10, 49ers.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_03]: Chris?
- 27:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like I said at the beginning, this is one of those games where the defense, I love the trend that they said in the last half of the game went went into that in detail, but you know, this is this is a different game, this is a different team.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_02]: This is one of those where we're going to allow 40 points, so I'm going to I'm going to put it at 40 to 16, but one thing that I'm interested to see is how much milk will this is able to hurt them with his legs.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_02]: Um, because, you know, if you're going to try and account for Fred Warner in the run game with Devon H and you can also make Fred Warner think about some things between those two speed, because Fred is probably the only guy that can keep a bottle.
- 27:55[SPEAKER_02]: Um, to keep Malik Willis bottled up if he, you know, escapes the pocket.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_02]: like Nicobie Dean, but did last week, but if Fred Warner has to think a lot about Devon HM, then it becomes different.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_02]: So I'll be fascinating to see that, but it's going to be a 40 to 16 bloodbath.
- 28:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so we've got bloodbaths all around a different degrees of bloodbath, but
- 28:22[SPEAKER_00]: All right, that's it.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_00]: There is no more when we get back with you on Monday.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_00]: We will be talking about this game.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_00]: What went wrong?
- 28:31[SPEAKER_00]: What went wrong?
- 28:32[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe we'll talk about what went right.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_00]: And we actually covered this spread.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_01]: But till then, thanks for listening to three yards per catty.
