- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Danish with Fexingo, episode 77. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna! Ready to learn some more Danish today. Lucas: Last episode we talked about weather. Today we're going to talk about time of day — not the clock, but parts of the day. Luna: Oh, like morning, afternoon, evening? That sounds useful. Lucas: Exactly. In Danish, we use 'om' plus the time of day. So 'in the morning' is 'om morgenen'. Luna: om morgenen. That's like 'om' and then 'morgenen'? Lucas: Yes. 'Morgen' means morning. So 'om morgenen' means 'in the morning'. Let's say it together: om morgenen. Luna: om morgenen. Lucas: Good. Now, 'in the afternoon' is 'om eftermiddagen'. 'Eftermiddag' means afternoon. Luna: om eftermiddagen. That's a long word. Lucas: It is. Break it down: 'ef-ter-mid-da-gen'. Try it slowly. Luna: ef-ter-mid-da-gen. om eftermiddagen. Lucas: Perfect. Now, 'in the evening' is 'om aftenen'. 'Aften' means evening. Luna: om aftenen. That's nice and short. Lucas: And 'at night' is 'om natten'. 'Nat' means night. Luna: om natten. So all of them start with 'om'. Lucas: Exactly. Let's practice with a sentence. 'I eat breakfast in the morning' is 'Jeg spiser morgenmad om morgenen'. Luna: Jeg spiser morgenmad om morgenen. That makes sense because we learned 'morgenmad' before. Lucas: Right. Now you try: 'I work in the afternoon'. Luna: Jeg arbejder om eftermiddagen. Lucas: Excellent! 'I watch TV in the evening'. Luna: Jeg ser tv om aftenen. Lucas: Perfect. And 'I sleep at night'. Luna: Jeg sover om natten. Lucas: Great job, Luna. Now, a quick scene: imagine you're telling a friend about your daily routine in Danish. 'I wake up in the morning, then I work in the afternoon, and I relax in the evening.' Luna: Jeg står op om morgenen, så arbejder jeg om eftermiddagen, og jeg slapper af om aftenen. Lucas: That was really good. You sounded natural. Luna: Thanks! It's fun to make sentences. Lucas: 'In the afternoon'? Luna: om eftermiddagen. Lucas: 'In the evening'? Luna: om aftenen. Lucas: And 'at night'? Luna: om natten. Lucas: Wonderful. Now let's do a little dialogue. I'll be a friend asking what you do at different times. Luna: Okay, I'm ready. Lucas: Hvad laver du om morgenen? Luna: Jeg drikker kaffe om morgenen. Lucas: Hvad laver du om eftermiddagen? Luna: Jeg arbejder om eftermiddagen. Lucas: Hvad laver du om aftenen? Luna: Jeg læser en bog om aftenen. Lucas: Hvad laver du om natten? Luna: Jeg sover om natten! Lucas: Ha, that's a good one. You did great today, Luna. Luna: Thank you! I feel more confident talking about my day. Lucas: Remember, practice these phrases throughout your day. Think about what you do in the morning, afternoon, evening, and night. That's all for episode 77 of Learn Danish with Fexingo. See you next time. Luna: Hej hej!
