- 0:46Welcome back to be boundary Corner podcast.
- 0:49I am Curtis Wilson. I'm Brian Sigler.
- 0:52How you doing tonight, buddy? Oh buddy.
- 0:55It's hump day was also my Monday.
- 1:00So two good things where it's the first day of the week but
- 1:04also on the back after tomorrow, there you go.
- 1:08Always a good week. Had some chili tonight for
- 1:10dinner and it's the perfect weather outside for chili.
- 1:13Oh man, it Follow y'all. It is all in.
- 1:18We looked at the weather forecast for the next 10 days
- 1:22and it's like not getting above. So maybe getting about 70 not
- 1:27below 65 at night, we're looking between like 44 and like 50 it
- 1:34is fall. It is get the fire pit going.
- 1:39Chill out Halloween is in a few days always a fun time.
- 1:44It's on a Get in here. So that kind of the middle
- 1:48ground, not perfect, but not terrible.
- 1:54Could absolutely be on the worst day it could that's Monday.
- 1:57It's next year's going to be chaos in hell for those who are
- 2:02parents and have never done it. But I mean you have got to do it
- 2:06once. In our children's lifetime
- 2:08Monday, Halloween is the most god-awful Day first.
- 2:14It's the worst, how do you sit here and, you know, you're
- 2:21coming off a weekend so it's a Monday rush and then your You're
- 2:23getting them from school or pick him up from daycare and then
- 2:27you're storming home. As fast as you can already tired
- 2:30and Hill from the weekend and the first day of work to get
- 2:33them dressed to go out trick-or-treating.
- 2:37It's one of those things to, you got to know to call it an early
- 2:39night, right? Like after you've been like an
- 2:42hour and you see, they have enough, all right, we're good.
- 2:45Yeah, this you're like 2/3 full, we're going to call it, we're
- 2:48going to call it right now. Well but we got more houses to
- 2:51go to no no. They're gonna You did good.
- 2:54You did good. We're cutting off.
- 2:56Their lights are going to go in. So look forward to it this
- 3:00weekend though and I obviously looking forward to the Hokies
- 3:03again which I just looked at my schedule.
- 3:07I'm going to have to watch that thing on a full replay kind of
- 3:11events and stuff on Saturday. So how about you you're gonna be
- 3:15able to catch it live or you going to be no, no, essentially
- 3:18what you said last week, would you say that's what he gets?
- 3:21We were talking tape delay. A tape delay.
- 3:25No anxiety, right? No anxiety.
- 3:27Yeah. It was kind of, I mean,
- 3:31especially considering the outcome of last week's game,
- 3:35being able to watch the tape for the first time without having
- 3:39the outcome hanging over your head.
- 3:43That was, that was kind of Ideal.
- 3:45So I'm not going to be watching it that way this week,
- 3:50unfortunately, or fortunately, for me, I got to enjoy I get to
- 3:53enjoy the game or lament the game in real time so the three
- 4:00hours stomachache get your Pepto-Bismol ready?
- 4:04Yeah. Yeah, let's hope.
- 4:07We're not, we're not dealing with that again.
- 4:09All right, well before we get into Georgia, Tech are obviously
- 4:12things were going to be talking about here, folks.
- 4:15A lot of it this week, we're looking at really directly has
- 4:18to deal with, you know, potential future of hokey
- 4:20football and Brian. You know the thing that I want
- 4:24to look at and this is not in the ACC, this is not even In the
- 4:31eastern part of the country. Texas, Tech earlier this week
- 4:35fires, Matt Wells. And you know, if it did not
- 4:40light up a an idea in your mind of what potentially could
- 4:45happen, then you haven't been paying attention on that Wells
- 4:48have been there. Three years, 13 and 19 had come
- 4:52off a successful run at Utah State.
- 4:54I still think he's a good coach, but I think Texas Tech sees the
- 4:57writing on the wall and they are trying to Get way ahead of this,
- 5:01especially with Oklahoma and Texas.
- 5:05Both leaving the conference in a few years.
- 5:06Try to get themselves on stable ground.
- 5:09And, you know, Brian you kind of sit here and I read an article
- 5:14from Chicago, rah-rah a pronounced, his name wrong, I
- 5:19apologize. And he starts discussing the
- 5:21coaches that could potentially go to Texas Tech. and it's some
- 5:26names that have been thrown out for our job, at least one, but a
- 5:30lot of other ones you keep talking about, So when T is
- 5:35going to land somewhere? Yep.
- 5:36Yes he is and you've been talking about G5.
- 5:40Well, the first name and it popped up earlier today.
- 5:43The guys already been contacted is Jeff trailer down at UTSA if
- 5:50you haven't read on Jeff trailer guy.
- 5:53Basically Texas. High School coaching Legend
- 5:57multiple titles at the 48 level. Did not get into Collegiate
- 6:01coaching until like six years. Ago.
- 6:04So there's one right? That's one.
- 6:07So there's one right there. Then you look Sonny Dykes Down
- 6:14at SMU. Yep.
- 6:16You know if Sonny Dykes had been at several big programs went
- 6:21out, west coast has not had much success.
- 6:23Fair has been very successful back to Destiny last few years
- 6:27direct connection. It would kind of be like Shane
- 6:30coming here. His dad was Spike Dykes who
- 6:33coach for 15 years their kind of help them set up the success
- 6:38that Mike Leach add you know for a decade there.
- 6:42Yep, that's a G5 landing spot. I don't know.
- 6:45If SMU comes off a good season goes and hires a guy who's you
- 6:49know, 3 & 9. I hope it's not that, but I'm
- 6:51looking worse case may be that then they talk about Graham.
- 6:57Harrell. And they talk about Kendall
- 6:59briles, offensive coordinators at Major P5 programs.
- 7:02Right? Yep.
- 7:05USA. Today is already written the
- 7:07article for Wednesday, should go out to USC and repairs image
- 7:10leading that So you hear all these names and these potential
- 7:14positions and where there could be leaving if he's fired it's an
- 7:19easy step for him to get in any of those positions.
- 7:21Don't think Ron. Yeah, this is the trickle-down
- 7:25we were talking about when we were looking at some of the
- 7:27prospects last week and, you know, like everything it's going
- 7:31to be some jobs, going to open up that's going to cause some
- 7:36folks, may be in other other areas to move on, it looks like
- 7:41there's going to be just as Much movement at the G5 level as
- 7:45their, there will be at the power 5 level.
- 7:48That's going to open up spots where, you know, maybe Fuente
- 7:51gets a soft Landing, which will help us out.
- 7:55Help him out long-term. So, you know, we'll see how it
- 7:59shakes out but that also obviously has those talking
- 8:02about some of the stuff with fool in the hot seat.
- 8:06Obviously right? The Feldman stuff that came out
- 8:10was Pretty pretty on the nose and said it right.
- 8:18Like yeah that he is at odds with people up in Blacksburg.
- 8:23We I mean that's things we're hearing feeling and then he
- 8:26mention names, we mentioned Dykes Dykes was put back in
- 8:30there you know essentially an edit to the article but the
- 8:36first name was Billy Napier. Yeah.
- 8:39And you know building a Here is a name that is on a ton of
- 8:44Hokies lips right now. So, you know, it's not a, not a
- 8:48shock. I mean, what he's done down with
- 8:51the Raging Cajuns is very impressive over the last few
- 8:54years and just kind of in general.
- 8:58It's he's a guy that was at Clemson one.
- 9:01Dabo's first starting, he got, let go spend some time at
- 9:05Alabama couple of see jobs, you know, he's been it You know,
- 9:11again with the Ragin Cajuns down to the louisiana-lafayette since
- 9:14eighteen and, you know, basically one the Sundial
- 9:19championship last year has won the division, the west division
- 9:23of the Sunbelt every year. He's been there.
- 9:25Yeah, let me ask how you feel about that.
- 9:30Hey G, five offensive coordinator, you do actually
- 9:36come in sunny days. Even though Dykes has head
- 9:38coaching experiences in pg5 P5, Level.
- 9:41How do you feel about getting a G5 head coach with primarily as
- 9:45an offensive background problem? So I think the difference with
- 9:49Napier compared to Fuente is kind of the stops he's made
- 9:55between Clemson Bama. I mean, he's, he's been at some
- 10:00high-profile schools, he knows how winning works at the power 5
- 10:04level at that high profile schools.
- 10:09Yeah. So, I think that's the
- 10:11difference that, when we look at Napier compared to 20 or
- 10:14compared to your typical G5 coach thinking, Chad, well as an
- 10:19example. Yeah.
- 10:20And a couple other guys so that's where Napier really kind
- 10:23of separates himself. I think from that pack, the
- 10:27other name that we keep getting thrown out.
- 10:29There is Clausen, Dave, pause, and they've Clausen that Wake
- 10:33Forest. So that's one where, you know,
- 10:41he can't come in and expect to do what he's doing at Wake
- 10:46Forest and be happy with, you know, being a Plucky.
- 10:51Overachiever compared to the the type of guys he's bringing in
- 10:56and the program. He if he comes here, it's kind
- 11:00of kind of got to be a mandate, where are you need to bring in
- 11:03some coordinators that are going to lift the recruiting up and
- 11:07then Expectations are going to be what they normally are.
- 11:09That's when the coastal every year compete for the ACC title
- 11:13every few years, potentially get a playoff bid in there as well.
- 11:18So, That's going to be the interesting thing to watch out
- 11:22for with Claussen is who he brings if he would get that job
- 11:27and what that would entail. But it's going to be interesting
- 11:30next few weeks to see how this plays out for Justin Fuente and
- 11:34Blacksburg. It's very true and with Clawson
- 11:38you know 70 this year under 500, his first seven years there I
- 11:44look at specially. Let's start with 2016 4 7. 8 7 8
- 11:494 Last year, let's not worry about that 70 this year.
- 11:53He's got to add a plus two to every seven one year.
- 11:56You're going 9, 10 9, 10 9, and 0 out of the gate.
- 12:02Yeah, probably can live with it. The one thing I worry about
- 12:06Clawson now, You've seen him talk.
- 12:10You've heard him speak. It feels like a win today 2.0
- 12:17you don't feel the energy coming off of him which is something I
- 12:21feel like we need at this point in time and you know we need the
- 12:26guy. Yeah do I because I mean it's
- 12:30it's definitely the it's probably even less sexy than a
- 12:33pier right internally significantly less sexist in
- 12:36terms of the pic there. So one thing to and then Clausen
- 12:48stop along the way. You know his biggest job since
- 12:51he started coaching the 1989 is thanks the white D Vic out there
- 13:01saying Clausen. He ain't it, I'm kind of with
- 13:04you he has some good stops to me he would be like the perfect guy
- 13:09to make his career. Going to somewhere.
- 13:14Let me, let me let me do this for a second.
- 13:19Like you would have been a good Tennessee.
- 13:21To stop the bleeding. Get the guys to play good solid
- 13:24football. And then in three years after he
- 13:26went seven, eight and eight, then let him go.
- 13:30We're gonna let him go, just not quite there, he kind of reshapes
- 13:34your image but it's not going to be able to take that step.
- 13:39Yeah. And I think you know, I think
- 13:42overall it's going to be hard for him.
- 13:43I don't know if he has the connections to bring in the the
- 13:47coordinators and I don't think that he's going to really
- 13:50energize the fan base. Or the donors and just the
- 13:56overall foundation of the, of the program, the way I think we
- 13:59need after this. Exactly.
- 14:02So I think that's kind of where he is in place with him.
- 14:06He's 54, you spend the next five to six years down at weight
- 14:11continuing to win seven, eight, nine games.
- 14:14You're set for life because of who they are as a program.
- 14:18All right? Other big news, Brian really,
- 14:20and I think this affects the Keys, multiple ways, recruiting
- 14:24scheduling the future Sunbelt, essentially has expanded and
- 14:29they've expanded to three teens. The Hokies are very familiar
- 14:32with. I actually make it for because
- 14:33we played Southern Miss before as our off.
- 14:36Season schedule, Marshall J mu ODU and Southern Miss all added.
- 14:41That is now a 14 conference League looking like they're
- 14:45probably going to have an east and west division.
- 14:49Let's go help them with traveling.
- 14:50So it'll save you some Save some money for some of them folks at
- 14:53least for most of those games and it brings in, you know,
- 14:59Marshall ODU Southern Miss. They've got kind of that cash a
- 15:04already. And then you got J mu taking a
- 15:07step up there. So yeah, I think that's going to
- 15:10be big for that that conference. It definitely gets football
- 15:15eccentric programs, any of the mix there for them.
- 15:19And that that's, that's what it's all about for the Sun Belt.
- 15:21So, So good for them overall in the long-term.
- 15:24And like I said, it's going to help them with both there.
- 15:30Essentially their footprint but also help them with, on the
- 15:32Travel side of things as well. Yeah, big time with the travel
- 15:35side of things because now, essentially, you're going to
- 15:37have teams it, probably go from J.
- 15:39Mu B in the farthest point, North Down to Georgia Southern
- 15:43and then the West started in Alabama over to Texas State.
- 15:47For me, I think about it as a couple ways is a G5.
- 15:51It's as many as folks are not going to like this JM U OD, you
- 15:58Marsha, Cool app state are going to appear as probably future G5,
- 16:03Applause. And there's no way if we go down
- 16:07the road, where we think we're headed, essentially, to an
- 16:09extended play off potentially expanded games, where you're
- 16:15going to play nine conference games.
- 16:18One, probably 12 to P5 crossover games and then one G5 game.
- 16:28This is who were probably playing.
- 16:30You're not going to go too far up and away.
- 16:33Maybe even doing 24 ones. I know people will be irritated
- 16:35as crap about that but that's business now.
- 16:38Yeah but it's also one of those things.
- 16:42Some people might say, well this might hurt recruiting Because
- 16:46that low three-star guy we've been on my go to Jamie because
- 16:50he thinks he's going to get more time.
- 16:53Go back to the recruiting or to me the camp episode, right?
- 16:59Yep. With our buddy.
- 17:00Rob e, Compton. These camps.
- 17:03Everybody's everybody goes to if there is a kid popping off at
- 17:08the J mu camp. Trust us, and he's starting to
- 17:12get offers, we're going to be benefiting from that they're
- 17:16going to benefit from us we're going to benefit from them at
- 17:18least that's popping. You know, I might be wrong but I
- 17:20think it's going to help probably even more within State
- 17:24because some kid thinks he I'm not good enough to go to the
- 17:27tech Camp, he decides to go to the J mu camping, you know, JC
- 17:31prices, they're scouting because he has old connections, looks at
- 17:34the kid and says that's a that's a P5 player.
- 17:38Yeah. All right, that we think overall
- 17:42it's going to be a benefit for I really everybody.
- 17:44I don't think there's really a negative to that overall.
- 17:48No it's no - Prime's a little unfocused.
- 17:52Braves down 522 right now. Big win.
- 17:55Last night. Big win, big win last night.
- 18:00Hopefully, we can do a little bit tonight and get back in.
- 18:02It, got one run just in this past inning.
- 18:05So cut it from cutting from 4 to 3.
- 18:08So we'll see if we can claw back in.
- 18:10And maybe steal another one here, exactly kind of a big
- 18:14thing. You can we talked about it,
- 18:16Sunday night, 22 years since they've been there, I got a
- 18:19buddy David who actually with his cousin they went to Houston
- 18:23for both games, they were going to go to Atlanta and he told me
- 18:26that, you know, the difference in ticket prices, tween Houston,
- 18:29Atlanta games, probably double Triple quadruple quadruple, he
- 18:38looked at, look at prices for the Friday game.
- 18:42In ATL was over 1100, found 14, right at 370 last night, 304
- 18:50tonight. Okay, okay.
- 18:52Yeah, I knew a lot of like a lot of the bad seats are going for
- 18:54almost a grand in Atlanta. So yeah.
- 18:58But it's also one of these O'Keefe and I'm always tempted
- 19:01to text and like you tell me you didn't want to like fly down for
- 19:04the Saturday game. Go to watch, Georgia Tech play
- 19:08making weekend of it so you can so you could scream fire for
- 19:11Wednesday at the waist. 83, go. It's all there.
- 19:15All right. Before we jump into Georgia,
- 19:16Tech, we are going to look at a few Hokies and using notes on
- 19:20the first one. I don't like to hear this but
- 19:23Jermaine Waller was, was asking for one thing and he said, well,
- 19:27he's dead. Day.
- 19:29Yeah, we met same status as last week.
- 19:32So you know, whether that means he's going to be a go for
- 19:37Saturday or not, that definitely leaves that up in the air and
- 19:40fortunately, and, you know, he gave it a go in the first series
- 19:47last week. God, what next, what was in
- 19:50there and let's go and this is, this is there could be
- 19:54criticisms of, you know. Well he's letting injured guy.
- 19:58Guys play, this is every level of football.
- 20:00It happens guy who's been prepping and resting and he
- 20:03thinks it feels. OK during warmups, you actually
- 20:07have to get out there and game action.
- 20:08I know someone said you should know one warm-ups Ron.
- 20:10I'm sure there were times you were banged up where you felt
- 20:14fine and warm ups in the next thing.
- 20:16You know, you take the first step and it's like, nope, it's
- 20:19not happening today. Yeah, yeah, there are definitely
- 20:23times that that's happened. You know, it's one thing, In the
- 20:28to warm up and kind of run through stuff.
- 20:30It's another thing once you get in the heat of battle and
- 20:34pressing on it in ways that you didn't have to do and warm-ups
- 20:37and all of a sudden you just don't eat.
- 20:40It feels off, can't make came, it can make it happen.
- 20:43Then you've got essentially, tell the coach I can't go
- 20:45knowing that you're the liability versus, you know,
- 20:47there's some guys who might try to tough it out for two or three
- 20:49series and significantly hurt the team.
- 20:51So kudos to water for giving it the shot and then being Simply
- 20:56Having this phone to say, I can't go today.
- 20:58You. All right.
- 20:59Something else that was mentioned Brian something else
- 21:01we've been talking about is the defensive in-depth but word is
- 21:06Cole. Nelson is coming on more and
- 21:09more. Somebody in the last recruiting
- 21:11class already kind of had that sighs.
- 21:16What's your expectation from him?
- 21:18Going for his record is burned. There's no way we can get that
- 21:22back. You know what do you what Downs?
- 21:25Do you want to see him on that? Hopefully.
- 21:28Help the defensive end position. Yeah.
- 21:31If I'm Chris Coleman, I'm upset with that.
- 21:34But yeah, with Cole, I mean, it was necessary that one of those
- 21:40guys come on, right? Because of the depth issues that
- 21:43were created in part to school-related issues and in
- 21:50part to just recruiting related issues.
- 21:54So cold coming on is going to be big I think to give guys like
- 21:57Barney. And Garbutt some more, more time
- 22:00to rest up. Because I mean, the big problem
- 22:02we've had is that, you know, defensive line has been burned
- 22:06out at the end of games. Yeah.
- 22:09So here and that hopefully they put in more situations, just to
- 22:13give those guys breathers to save when we need those last
- 22:18eight or ten snaps where they have a little more energy.
- 22:21All right. One, we listen to this today and
- 22:23we literally had to pause this because it got me more to it.
- 22:27Maybe it didn't. You as much irritated sins.
- 22:29You have coach before, but I'm sure by now, everybody has heard
- 22:33with the game-winning touchdown. We were in the wrong coverage
- 22:38and we didn't get checked into it.
- 22:41Okay. It was what 42 seconds left
- 22:46somewhere. Thereabouts.
- 22:47Yes. Somewhere thereabouts, we had
- 22:49two timeouts to burn. Yep.
- 22:51This is where we go back to Game Day Management from a couple
- 22:55weeks ago, on our recap of the pit episode Can half of it.
- 23:00If you're not in the right coverage, you need to be calling
- 23:03time out. I know I'm shaking the computer
- 23:06screen from get anybody sick out there.
- 23:07I'm sorry, music burn it. Even if they didn't catch it,
- 23:12they had 40 plus seconds left. You weren't going to have the
- 23:15use. Those timeouts for anything
- 23:17else. Yep, we didn't burn it in.
- 23:21We were in the wrong coverage and we got burned and it wasn't
- 23:26a, it's all on you. Well, I said this, when Talked
- 23:30about earlier, you're essentially saving the timeouts
- 23:33for your one percent chance to win.
- 23:35Meaning that you know go driving the ball down the field for a
- 23:40touchdown with about 30 seconds left.
- 23:44Instead of you know taking the time out in your 75% chance to
- 23:48win the game. Exactly because if you just saw
- 23:52coverage in and you take away that over the top, they could
- 23:56still potentially nickel-and-dime me into it but
- 24:01You know, you're not giving the play up.
- 24:03Yeah, it's instead of a touchdown here, at least make
- 24:06them have to kick the field goal.
- 24:07There's a lot of imaginations that go into, that, that could
- 24:10create a miss a block, whatever. Yep.
- 24:14You always want to force them to do it the hard way, if you can.
- 24:17Exactly. So, you know, Braun good start
- 24:21to the sixth inning right there. Yeah.
- 24:25We've got a guy in scoring position.
- 24:27Only one out. Yeah, good start.
- 24:30All right, y'all before we get into looking at Georgia Tech, we

- 24:57Grassroots digital studio.com forward slash free Dash website,
- 25:02Dash report. Now back to the episode All
- 25:07right, Brian. Let's start off with the offense
- 25:09here. Georgia Tech kind of looking at
- 25:11some overall numbers 51st, rushing offense, 56 passing
- 25:15offense. So pretty balanced attack.
- 25:18One thing, they're not great at, but we have been clearly
- 25:21struggling with is giving up third Downs.
- 25:24There, 101 in the country. Only converting about 35 percent
- 25:27of the time. They are a 60/40 run, but would
- 25:32you consider this type offense? With their own gun, Georgia
- 25:36Tech. It's still another one of those
- 25:40kind of like, Smash Mouth type spread offenses, and they do
- 25:43have some RPO elements that they have in that offense as well.
- 25:46So you're going to see a lot of our po.
- 25:48You're going to see a lot of read option, you're going to see
- 25:50a lot of between the tackles own, a lot of inside Zone and it
- 25:57kind of starts with Jeff Sims their quarterback.
- 26:00He is a true dual threat. He's got good size, not not as
- 26:05big as Schrader that we, that we saw last week, but still good
- 26:08size. Great Runner, good Vision.
- 26:13When he's running the football throws, the ball.
- 26:16Well pretty accurate, you know, decent decent job of getting the
- 26:21ball down field as well. Probably the only big flaw in
- 26:24his game is decision-making. Sometimes he throws it up.
- 26:28Sometimes he throws flat when he needs to put a little bit more
- 26:31air under it. So little things like that, you
- 26:35know, kind of take away from it, but overall, he's going to be a
- 26:38handful. Well, absolutely, you mentioned
- 26:41size 63 210. He was a top-15 dual credit and
- 26:45came out in 2020. So really, this is only his
- 26:47second full year as a college football quarterback.
- 26:52He was a four-star guy. He had already missed two games
- 26:55this year. Got a little banged up at the
- 26:56Northern Illinois. We've talked about how that
- 26:59could potentially be hurting them.
- 27:00They did lose that game one. Next week, but they've been
- 27:04going back and forth. Wins losses.
- 27:06Wins losses. Yeah, the accuracy surprise me.
- 27:10Brian, I thought he'd probably be somewhere in the lower 50s.
- 27:12Now, 62 percent completion percentage thousand and eighty
- 27:16nine yards, 9 touchdowns five picks, so that decision-making.
- 27:21Really in the last three games, he's thrown the five picks.
- 27:25So you know, it's not like it was one per game, he's sort of
- 27:30kind of bunch them up here in these last.
- 27:32Last three games, but eight and a half per attempt.
- 27:36So definitely pushing the ball. Downfield, the Russian clip is
- 27:40crazy, 6.7 a carry, 320 yards, and four touchdowns.
- 27:45I mean another running quarterback it is the Kryptonite
- 27:50of every Virginia Tech Hokies, you know, defense for the last.
- 27:56What feels like 30 years. So you know, I think with him
- 28:01he's like you said, we've A lot of good pieces about it and I
- 28:04tell you what, he's got a hell of a running mate in backfield
- 28:08with them. And Jameer Gibbs man, 511 200
- 28:11pounds and this kid absolute study, top 50 player.
- 28:17He was the number for running back in his class back in 2020
- 28:21out of Dalton Georgia. I mean had a good freshman year
- 28:26following it up. 411 rushing yards, little bit under 5 + 4 .6
- 28:31per carry with only Two touchdowns but the past catching
- 28:35last year in seven, games called 21, receptions for 320, excuse
- 28:40me. This year is called 21.
- 28:41Receptions for 320 yards and 15.2 /.
- 28:45He was at twenty four receptions last year in seven games and
- 28:50slightly over that 320. So that's a big piece of his
- 28:55game. What else are we seeing?
- 28:56From him Ryan? Yeah, he's a real dangerous.
- 28:59All-purpose back when he gets to the second level.
- 29:02He's got that. First, at the Home Run, he had a
- 29:0471 yard touchdown against UVA, or he just got up the middle,
- 29:10ran past the linebackers and safeties, and just took it in
- 29:14really good. Burst through the hole above
- 29:16average vision and like you said in the passing game he does a
- 29:19good job of in the screen game and in the short passing game of
- 29:23bacon guys. Missing space.
- 29:26Yeah so a screen one of the screen plays from the UVA gain,
- 29:28it was set up perfectly in with the Box we've waited patiently
- 29:32And when the blocks he accelerated right at the field
- 29:36for about 20 plus yard game and that's kind of where it scares
- 29:40you, right? Because if he was just a good
- 29:42one way threat, we've already had some struggles with them but
- 29:45again the passing game really worries me now, they do have a
- 29:51couple good spell backs and Dante Smith in Jordan Mason both
- 29:56have over, 250 yards, this season from scrimmage Smith
- 30:00watch Smith. And as good as Gibbs has, ran
- 30:05Gibbs has only three touchdowns where Smith has four touchdowns.
- 30:08So let's keep an eye on him in the red zone and in goal line
- 30:11situations. But Brian, obviously, we talked
- 30:15about the quarterback in the running back and this run game
- 30:18in general. What's the offensive line
- 30:21looking like good? Bad indifferent.
- 30:25I think it's looking better than we anticipated at the start of
- 30:28the year because they were pretty bad last year.
- 30:31I'd say they're creeping into the above average category in
- 30:34the Run blocking, especially the interior of the offensive line,
- 30:38very hit-or-miss in past Pro. They do tend to give up some
- 30:42sacks there and probably the standout player on the line is
- 30:47there Center, Mikey minahan. He's done some really good
- 30:50things. You see him kind of doing good
- 30:53jobs, on the interior with the combos, getting up to the second
- 30:55level. Given those linebackers off the
- 30:58running backs and the quarterback.
- 30:59So that's what you want to watch for for their offensive line
- 31:04like the watch many hand, many hand, a three-star guy when he
- 31:07came out a few years ago six three three hundred and from
- 31:13Honolulu Hawaii. So you left Hawaii to come to
- 31:18Georgia Tech. I really hope he's like an
- 31:21engineering major something, because that is a long way to
- 31:24come to play for Georgia, Tech football noticed.
- 31:29But you know if you know if you were playing offensive line in
- 31:33Hawaii Brian would you even leave the island?
- 31:36Nah, yeah. I so let's take a look at the
- 31:42receiving. Cornell two guys are real.
- 31:43Standout mean, Brian. We already discussed it earlier.
- 31:47You know, will you throw in a tight end their tight ends
- 31:50block? Right run.
- 31:53Yeah, I mean they'll occasionally catch a screen or
- 31:56like a dump off but they're not any sort of there not being kind
- 32:00of mapped out of the offenses as a weapon, but they do have two
- 32:04very good outside or cheating. Very too good to very good
- 32:07receivers. What do you got on Carrick noun?
- 32:12He is the slot receiver. He kind of, does it all does.
- 32:16A lot of screens short passes bubbles, but he'll run the full
- 32:23route tree and and give you some work inside the numbers there as
- 32:27well. So he's kind of their, their
- 32:31guy, that that does a little bit of everything.
- 32:33He'll move the sticks, but it'll also be a threat downfield.
- 32:35And he's also a good Blocker on the perimeter of the, lets them
- 32:37open up stuff in the running game.
- 32:39Nice. McGowan is 5:11 198.
- 32:43So let's go until your slot receiver, perfect, build my
- 32:47recruited by Georgia Tech, do a Northwest transfer that came in
- 32:51from Dalton Georgia as well. So again, heavy State guy goes
- 32:56to Northwestern for a few years was a three-star.
- 32:58And so far this year, averaging about 15 yards per catch six,
- 33:02touchdowns six touchdowns out of the slightest, pretty crazy to
- 33:06me 24/7. 359 yards, did you catch any of his touch?
- 33:11Downs brown, or they long or they, is it a mixture of long
- 33:14and when they get inside we did have a it's a mixture.
- 33:17He did have a long one against UVA early on I think was their
- 33:20first or second touchdown where he run ran a deep krauser got
- 33:25hit deep towards the end zone for a touchdown, think about a
- 33:2840-yarder. So so any spot on the field he
- 33:31could potentially house correct? Oh wonderful.
- 33:35All right. Other guy?
- 33:37Bigger body guy, Malachi Carter 63 195.
- 33:42Fifteen point. Six yards perception to E1 UPS
- 33:46mcgown there. 25 perceptions 390 yards.
- 33:49Only one touchdown so far so obviously maybe not a big body
- 33:53receiver who high points. The ball was a three-story
- 33:56Lawrenceville Georgia. So why am I seeing 63?
- 34:00But only one touchdown run. He's primarily their deep
- 34:03threat. They like to hit him deep with
- 34:07the pass. He's a good job of taking the
- 34:09top off the defense. Please a lot on special teams to
- 34:14he doesn't do a whole lot in the Red Zone.
- 34:16Primarily in the Red Zone, they are very much a pounded in the
- 34:19end zone with their rushing attack or with their
- 34:22quarterback. They don't throw the ball a ton
- 34:25and when they do, it's usually kind of the underneath stuff.
- 34:27So that's why you're not seeing a ton of production in the Red
- 34:30Zone there for him. I got you.
- 34:33So while the one touchdown and are they, are they kidding on
- 34:36other deep passes or is it just one of those weird things if
- 34:40he's not getting any of them? He's just doing a lot of work
- 34:42between the 20s still getting pretty, pretty deep 20 plus
- 34:47yards on a lot of these. But yeah, I think he has four
- 34:53catches for over 30. So yeah, he's doing a lot of
- 34:55work, just not as much inside the 20.
- 34:58Okay. So it's essentially they're one
- 35:00of these teams past to move the ball or running past the move
- 35:04the ball but only run the ball two.
- 35:07Yeah, they're pounded it in. Once they get the red zone
- 35:09usually and got you You um and really there's not really much
- 35:15else with their wide outs. You know, there wasn't anybody
- 35:19else that to me statistically jumped off.
- 35:22And when you kind of hear about power Smash Mouth spread, I'm
- 35:26probably, are we going to see two tight end sets or two tight
- 35:29ends in an HVAC, run with them or he's adjust, they have a
- 35:33third receiver on the field to have a third receiver on the
- 35:35field. You see a little bit of
- 35:39everything, they kind of mix up their sets, but usually, they at
- 35:41least have one H back on the field.
- 35:43Okay, got it. All right, we're going to flip
- 35:46over to the defense now. And I was kind of shocked to see
- 35:50the defensive numbers they're 10 for against the pass.
- 35:54So I mean Dreadful against the past 88 against the Run. 90
- 36:00second in scoring defense, giving up about twenty nine a
- 36:03game, obviously clearly Like last week, he scored 40 but lost
- 36:09forty eight to forty much to Brian's dismay when he takes,
- 36:13Georgia Tech plus 7. But what kind of Defense are
- 36:16they running here? One is, this another stack?
- 36:19Is this a 4 to 5? Is this a traditional?
- 36:22We're you got another stack? It's a little bit different but
- 36:25it's another stack. You know, 335 and kind of The
- 36:31Usual Suspects. The two, the two, we're going to
- 36:33focus on first is going to be the will linebacker.
- 36:38Charlie Thomas, primarily their coverage linebacker really good
- 36:42tackler in space. He's kind of the guy that keeps
- 36:46it going for them. Make sure that things stay where
- 36:50they need to kind of inside the hashes in the passing game.
- 36:55Well, yeah, in Thomas, definitely pop.
- 36:57It's out statistically. So you talk about keeping the
- 37:00defense going moving. He definitely does that.
- 37:02He's from Thomasville Georgia. He was a three-star and you know
- 37:07being the 335 stack they classify him defensive back
- 37:10linebacker at 62 2007. So little smallish, if we could
- 37:15get up to that second level to him, but let me just say
- 37:18something leads the team with three sacks.
- 37:22That's eye-opening to me. That hey guy who's kind of the
- 37:27hybrid is leading the team in sacks. 53, tackles five
- 37:31additional tackles for loss to picks in one forced fumble.
- 37:35So you know is it is it athleticism?
- 37:38Is it motorers a little mixture of both little mixture of both.
- 37:42You guys a lot of athleticism but he's got motor he'll get in
- 37:46there. He's not he's a very willing
- 37:48tackler and he does a good job of getting.
- 37:49Guys. The dirt.
- 37:51All right. Looks like he's got a partner
- 37:53here quick. As Jackson, Another linebacker
- 37:58leads a team. With sixty six, tackles five,
- 38:02tackles for loss. One forced fumble, a three star
- 38:05out of Fort Valley. Georgia.
- 38:08Where is he? In the 335 spectrum of
- 38:11linebackers. He's that strong side guy.
- 38:13He's there he's there. Primary fourth rusher.
- 38:15He's the guy that they're usually bringing either at the
- 38:18snap or at a delay towards the line of scrimmage to confuse the
- 38:22run and to Get pressure on the quarterback and he's their
- 38:27primary run stopper at the linebacker position.
- 38:29So he does a good job of stuff in things.
- 38:32They don't push for a ton of tackles for loss but he's
- 38:35usually right there. If you're if you're holding guys
- 38:37to minimal game, Alright, good deal on him.
- 38:42The next guy is the guy that kind of caught my eye size-wise
- 38:47looking back at his recruiting profile and everything is Jared
- 38:51IV 66 275 defensive lineman 22 tackles only a sack and a half
- 38:58four tackles for loss was a top 200 player when he came out in
- 39:032020. We did offer him just to put
- 39:07that out there, take it all for him.
- 39:10Number 10 weeks. I'd defensive end for Star, but
- 39:14his recruiting profile, which would have last been touched in
- 39:18roughly, what February 20 2008 was weighing 225 billion, close
- 39:26to 16 or 18 months that kid is put on 50 pounds at 275.
- 39:30That's, I know. Guys can gain weight but to get
- 39:35up that big that quick. It's no, it's no wonder why he
- 39:40Ting. And what's the tape saying,
- 39:42especially with that one and a half stack for on, he's actually
- 39:45got a really good pass rush. He plays the defensive end of
- 39:48that three man front and you know, not a ton of sex as we
- 39:52talked about but he impacts the quarterback consistently.
- 39:55He's getting after the quarterback, making them Rush
- 39:58throws, move off the spot and things like that.
- 40:02All right, let me ask this because always with the 335
- 40:05stack you talked about Jackson being that for thrush.
- 40:10I'm assuming he's on the outside at the eight or nine technique.
- 40:14Yep. Is is Jared IV, is he, is he
- 40:18over? The tackle, is he shade right on
- 40:20the outside? Or is he maybe even shading
- 40:23towards inside, on the guard, he's usually going to be in a
- 40:27four or five. Okay.
- 40:29All right. So, essentially either right
- 40:31over the tackle or just on the outside of the tackle.
- 40:34So it's really funny and I feel like we need to do something the
- 40:39offseason talk about 335 Stacks because there's so many
- 40:42different variations of where You got some teams right, that
- 40:46will run 335 stack traditional nose and two three techniques,
- 40:51right? And they'll have that one Rush
- 40:53In And then they'll have a hybrid guy, who's doing stuff,
- 40:57you know, up and down. So that's why I asked if you if
- 41:02you if y'all think I'm silly out here asking every we got ask
- 41:05because I know they're different alignments.
- 41:08Now the next Guy Brian I think I know where he'll Hans based on
- 41:13his size but one day Thomas 63, 217 pounds out of Niceville
- 41:19Florida. Defensive back 50.
- 41:22Tackles three pass, deflections and interception a forced
- 41:25fumble. I'm going to assume he's the
- 41:28strong. He actually plays the free.
- 41:32Oh, but yeah, yeah he plays the free lot of single high but he
- 41:40also plays some man and he does a lot of good things, really
- 41:44good tackler, but does a good job of?
- 41:48Not letting things get behind him either when he's got that
- 41:51single high look. I got you.
- 41:55You mentioned man, coverage? What are they doing?
- 41:58When they're running him in man? Because that's very unused.
- 42:01Because, essentially, if you put in the free in, man, you're
- 42:03playing zero that. Yeah, that's when they're that's
- 42:06when they're bringing the house from that 33 stack.
- 42:09You'll get him matched up. Sometimes on my like the inside
- 42:12slot receiver. All right.
- 42:16So what would you do if your the offensive coordinator and you
- 42:19see this, who are you trying to get to that slot position?
- 42:22What kind of routes are you going to be trying to run to get
- 42:25him be because obviously, there is nothing behind that.
- 42:29Yeah, I mean, if you get that, I mean, I'd like to seem we don't
- 42:31throw the seem very much. We haven't thrown the seemed
- 42:34hardly at all, since James Mitchell has been gone.
- 42:37But, you know, you'd like to attack their if you get that
- 42:43look just matched up. 101. Their butt.
- 42:48You can also do some other things where you can like some
- 42:52outs from the slot to maybe get him out of position or get a
- 42:56little rub on him and got you a little stiff in the hips, maybe
- 42:59playing safety little bit, little bit.
- 43:04Well, let's hope that we can use our brains, and if they're going
- 43:08to be putting him up there to cover using some quick moves,
- 43:12somebody liked a actually, any of the primary receivers we've
- 43:15seen this year there. All right, so give me some info
- 43:20here on the Georgia Tech, Yellow Jackets.
- 43:24Let's flip it over and let's talk about the Hokies.
- 43:27This is the Theta version and I got all nerdy Brawn and I told
- 43:33Brian little while ago, say the in trigonometry is the unknown
- 43:37variable. Well, we have an unknown
- 43:40variable and we're finding out about it.
- 43:42You know? It's Justin Fuente.
- 43:45Why is he the unknown variable? What's he doing?
- 43:48This week in game prep because he had been with the defense
- 43:52starting what the last three games of last season.
- 43:56Yeah, he was running offense of scout team.
- 43:58Essentially getting them Point. Run the offensive scout team
- 44:01last week, he moved. He was in the room primarily
- 44:05with the offense. Now if you ask me and I've said
- 44:10it Sunday night, I'll say it again.
- 44:12I hope he stays in that room. We'll see Ron.
- 44:16Yeah I hope he stays in that room to the offense.
- 44:18Needs the most work. I think J Hamm will get some of
- 44:21the things that were missed on defense figured out.
- 44:24I think just needs to stay where he knows and stick with the
- 44:29offense. Hopefully, we can get similar
- 44:31production that we got last week and give us a chance to win one,
- 44:35right in the first thing that to get that off into production
- 44:39again, as we have to feed the to running back beasts.
- 44:43We got to continue to feed Malachi Thomas and we got to
- 44:46continue to get Raheem Blackshear in the different
- 44:50looks and running the ball. Son, Brian.
- 44:53Do you agree? Yeah I got to get the the
- 44:55malachite Thomas the ball as much as possible.
- 44:58We saw we can lean on him last week and as you said, get
- 45:02Blackshear the ball in creative ways.
- 45:04So you can do stuff in space, but also he did a pretty good
- 45:07job running between the tackles last week as well.
- 45:11So we need to keep sticking with that running attack.
- 45:13Heck, yeah, I think we found the rotation and hopefully, you
- 45:20know, I know people can bag on Jalen holson jail and wholesome
- 45:24is a good short, yardage Runner, use them wisely.
- 45:27And of people are still begging to see more curlies because that
- 45:29cat is still not there. Well, if he's running short,
- 45:32yardage situations, he doesn't need to pass block, but feed
- 45:36those guys, you know, we had 430 yards of offense, Last week in
- 45:42those guys were 300-plus of it. So if we're going to have any
- 45:47chance to win this week, it's got to be running with those
- 45:50guys and being creative with them and in Brian.
- 45:54The next point you made here when we were talking putting
- 45:57this together was, you know, it's the same old song and
- 46:00dance. But The intermediate passing
- 46:03game and especially even more. So when you talk about them,
- 46:06loving the Blitz, the house and bring guys Yeah, they need to
- 46:11find some degree of intermediate passing game, especially between
- 46:16the numbers we've been atrocious at calling plays or are
- 46:22targeting receivers between the numbers between the hashes,
- 46:28really in the intermediate and even in the short passing game.
- 46:32So that that has to happen. We got to work all areas of the
- 46:36defense and I think it starts with that intermediate.
- 46:40Passing game. Absolutely.
- 46:43And we have guys that can do it. It's just actually putting them
- 46:47into place in letting them do it.
- 46:52And again, if you tell me, we can pass the ball, 16 425, and
- 46:57we averaged six. I'd be fine with that like six
- 47:00per attempt 150 yards, because if we're doing that, it's the
- 47:05it's the whole Death By A Thousand Cuts, right?
- 47:08If you've got the good running game going, but In those little
- 47:10short passes. Eventually it's going to
- 47:14frustrate a defense to a point. Probably somebody's going to
- 47:16miss a gap and we guys like Malachi in Rahim you're going to
- 47:20get a chance to you know, maybe break a big one because they're
- 47:26being so aggressive and everything else.
- 47:29Yeah. Malachi busted one big one.
- 47:31Almost took another one to the house last week.
- 47:33I mean he's shown he's shown that he's got at least the
- 47:36fourth you. I don't we don't know if he's
- 47:37got the fifth gear yet but you know he's definitely got a
- 47:42fourth gear. And there's one other big thing
- 47:45this week crying against this team that we've got to have
- 47:51success and that's going to be staying on schedule.
- 47:54Georgia Tech is not a good tackle behind the line of
- 47:59scrimmage team. Yep, they're 112th and tackles
- 48:02for loss. And they're just about as bad
- 48:07insects. They are about eighty ninth in
- 48:10the country. So they're not good at getting
- 48:13people behind the line of scrimmage and what we saw off.
- 48:15We can Syracuse game was the couple times.
- 48:19That we could move the ball. We got behind the sticks quick.
- 48:23Yep. And I think if we can stay on
- 48:26schedule, most of the most of the downs and not let them let
- 48:31something that's already not their Forte come into play, very
- 48:34often that's going to help us, keep keep the ball in the field
- 48:38for the offense. So, big key do not let a
- 48:44defensive team that is bad on. You do not, it seems given up 30
- 48:50points a game. We just put over 30 points only
- 48:54teeth team that was giving up about 20.
- 48:58I like to do the math and say, well, if we can get to pretend
- 49:02we can get almost 40 on them. But something tells me it's
- 49:06gonna be a little different this week, but let's look at the
- 49:09defensive side of the ball. We got to roast them on Sunday
- 49:12night, even though we probably really did not want to roast
- 49:15them at all, but they've got their things.
- 49:19And the one thing I asked you Brian, Was, what can we do to
- 49:24keep the defensive in stamina? Yeah, first thing is, you keep
- 49:29bringing along cold Nelson that we got solid guys that can come
- 49:32in there and get quality snaps. I think the other thing you need
- 49:36to do is get creative with how you deploy the defensive line.
- 49:40Whether it's, you know, let bar no stay back in coverage, your
- 49:44every now and again, or stand up, do different things to keep
- 49:49guys fresh for longer through the game.
- 49:51So they're ready to rush the passer and there's keep Downs
- 49:54late in the game, right? Let me ask this problem.
- 49:58What about 30, man fronts? What about essentially, go to a
- 50:02kind of a 33 stack, look, where you play fuga nose, like
- 50:12Kendricks at the three technique and allow Pollard Williams to
- 50:16play the four, five technique, and then let bar know or Garbage
- 50:19stand up. Also, you have tomorrow who's a
- 50:21very good in his own, right? Rusher for a defensive back.
- 50:25Could they do that? Or is that too much schematic
- 50:27change? I think that's a little too
- 50:30much. To throw in a team, especially
- 50:33in the middle of the season. I think that's something that
- 50:35they had planned on, in the offseason, you might see more of
- 50:38that. But I mean, you could do
- 50:40wrinkles, but I don't think you can go full on like that.
- 50:43Okay, okay. And I'm glad you said wrinkles
- 50:46because my thought is not What if I said, Syracuse?
- 50:51Friend. 78 snaps, right? Yep. 78 snaps.
- 50:55What if I said to you 20 percent of the time try to go into that
- 51:00set, is that too much 15:16 snacks, maybe a little too much
- 51:05but if you could maybe 10 to 12 plays might be a joke because
- 51:10what is my whole thought process?
- 51:12Is if you're doing this for garma and Bar know is you take
- 51:18one off the field and you get them five to six extra snaps and
- 51:22as we looked at the Syracuse game last week, it was really
- 51:27only about five or five or ten snaps.
- 51:30That was the difference between a win and a loss with those last
- 51:33two drives. It's true.
- 51:35So, you know, we're trying to think of creative ways.
- 51:39Hopefully, the coaching staff is, what about this Prime?
- 51:44Tell me what you want. Defensive ends or linebackers or
- 51:49defensive backs to do any time Jeff, Sims decide he's going to
- 51:53do a read option. If you're the option man, you
- 51:56need to run it Sims. Make him give the ball more
- 52:00often than not. I know that you know, you're
- 52:04essentially picking your poison there, but if you can limit the
- 52:09amount of times that he's keeping it, that at least is a
- 52:13more predictable outcome and it's easier to stop predictable.
- 52:16Um's. All right I like that option
- 52:19right there is essentially just say it because if you come in at
- 52:21him and he keeps the ball, he's going to have to make a move.
- 52:26I have to meet you and that's okay because if he's making
- 52:29moves in the back end, you know, especially running out of
- 52:34shotgun, like they are, he's already six yards behind the
- 52:36line of scrimmage of you making a move to get away.
- 52:39Easier quicker. Time to pursue the others
- 52:44thought was hit him enough. Probably just the carrying out
- 52:52of the fake will not be as As persuasive.
- 52:58Sure, pop in five or six times and be like, man, screw this
- 53:02just taking, I'm not trying to run at you now, dude.
- 53:05So I like when Braun said this idea to meal or later, I liked
- 53:10it because it's essentially saying the man right there.
- 53:15Gibbs is going to be this. Both of you aren't going to beat
- 53:18us Gibbs is going to be this All right, one last piece of the
- 53:23Theta version for the defense run.
- 53:25We've already talked about them McCown 15 yards per catch you
- 53:30know, Malachi quarter over 15 yards a catch.
- 53:38Guys don't let the let the bball Beach if we can't get meat over
- 53:42the top. Yep.
- 53:43Um, and let me ask this from when we're getting we're
- 53:49getting, we're in that mixture of Zone and man coverage.
- 53:55What are you want to see? It's like if you if you had to
- 53:57write out, you know, percentages?
- 54:02How much man? How much like cover two Zone?
- 54:06How much cover three man under how much quarters?
- 54:09What do you want to see against this team to prevent those deep
- 54:12moles? I'd like to see a lot of
- 54:14quarters because that can confuse the quarterback.
- 54:19It can confuse the receivers in terms of what the coverage is a
- 54:22little bit. And when I'm thinking quarters,
- 54:26I'm thinking kind of cover 6 like quarter quarter half.
- 54:32And I think if you can do that, you can kind of mix things up
- 54:36with them and confuse them. In the in the secondary I got
- 54:42you, plus another way to keep all eyes on Jeff Sims when he
- 54:46decides to take it through gives you that Advantage versus being
- 54:51the man come. But again, we didn't mention a
- 54:55couple other receivers, but you've got to other receivers.
- 55:00A dock is Sanders is averaging over 14 per catch and then
- 55:04Kalani Morrison. This is fresh.
- 55:05It only has five catches. 22 yards.
- 55:08A catch though. and two touchdowns so borders, public,
- 55:12so It's like the whole well they're good running team.
- 55:17Do we really do we not take the risk and you know force them to
- 55:20throw. Well, the whole piece is Let
- 55:27them if they're such a good running team.
- 55:29Make them beat you with it. Don't give them the easy
- 55:32opportunities to go deep. Yep, I mean it's as simple as
- 55:37that. Don't give a team who likes to
- 55:38run the ball, easy, downfield, throws.
- 55:41So all right, Ron, we've gotten to the point of the night where
- 55:46we have to give our predictions and I'm going to jump first.
- 55:50All right, we're Georgia. Georgia Tech lost last week.
- 55:54They won lost one loss and this is a win week.
- 55:58I think it's another competitive game.
- 55:59I think you watching it at noon you're going to have a lot of
- 56:03fun. I'm going to probably be coming
- 56:05back for my event at low after three looking down either to see
- 56:09a super tight game and wondering if I really want to get home
- 56:13fast to watch the end of it since I have no clue what's
- 56:17going on. But I think they're going to be
- 56:19this and I really think it's literally going to be one bad
- 56:23Red Zone possession. For us in one.
- 56:25Good one for them, 3531? Okay.
- 56:31You know what I think. I think a change of scenery is
- 56:34going to be a good thing for this team and I think they're
- 56:38going to play one of their more complete games of the year
- 56:42because that that sounds like exactly what a Fuente LED team
- 56:44would do at this point in the season is have one of those one
- 56:48of those games where you expect them to fail and they don't.
- 56:50So give me 31:28. Virginia Tech.
- 56:53All right, Brian goes with the, when I'll unfortunately, I'm
- 56:56going with another loss here, completely.
- 56:59Hope I'm I'm wrong but Brian, we, we didn't kind of discuss
- 57:05this. But how does this game have to
- 57:08flow to get to your number 3128 or reversal of my number thirty
- 57:14five, thirty Thirty One. Yeah, I think I think the big
- 57:18thing is that we need to to get the offense comfortable again
- 57:21early and I think we need to do a better job is that when we get
- 57:25the lead, Defensively continue to hold offensive.
- 57:29Ly continue to keep the foot on the pedal.
- 57:33Yeah, I agree. I think this this team under
- 57:39Justin Fuente has less what the Arkansas game.
- 57:44Is that about it? Let's the Arkansas game where
- 57:48their front running team and I think get out, get ahead.
- 57:53Put the other piece has to be what we didn't do against
- 57:56Syracuse, if it's 14 to 7 or 14 nothing, you know?
- 58:07We've got to jump, we've got to move fast.
- 58:09So we got to take advantage if it's 14-nothing and where we get
- 58:14a Midfield. We got to get at least three
- 58:16points to get them out of running with Gibbs.
- 58:19Yeah. All right I fired up there.
- 58:22Sorry. All right.
- 58:22Good. You're good.
- 58:23Pick y'all, boys are both over 500.
- 58:27We are better than flipping a coin.
- 58:28If you take our advice, yes, sir.
- 58:32And right now, this is what we're going to do.
- 58:34We're going to start with my A me pit.
- 58:37Miami coming off of a really big win last week.
- 58:40Against NC State. Hit is a nine and a half Point
- 58:43favorite here. Brian!
- 58:46I'm going to do the honors since I'm leading, and I'm actually
- 58:49going to take pit, I think it's going to be a good game, but I
- 58:51do see this as about a 10 to 14 point game, probably 4228.
- 58:56What about you? I'm gonna go with with Miami
- 59:00here. I think pit still wins the game
- 59:02outright, but I think it's more in the, the touchdown range.
- 59:05So give me a Give me Miami Lakes.
- 59:08Miami takes to you over pit. All right Ron this is just I
- 59:14don't know what to do with this including luckily you get to go.
- 59:16First FSU Clemson, Clemson is a 10-point favored.
- 59:22Game is in, I believe Death Valley.
- 59:28What do you want to do it? It's in Death Valley.
- 59:30What do you want to do with this one?
- 59:32Clemson hadn't really want a game by 10 points, all year that
- 59:35matters. So I'm Owing to take FS you,
- 59:38he's gonna take FS you, it's very true and believe it or not.
- 59:42You saying that maybe realize they haven't won a game.
- 59:45They've lost a few games by 10 points or more last week and the
- 59:49opener against Georgia. So, yeah, give me give me, give
- 59:53me a bless you to give me some points.
- 59:55There may be feeling it after that big UMass win.
- 1:00:00All right, here's a good one for you.
- 1:00:01Brine, Syracuse, coming off a big win.
- 1:00:05BC coming off, kind of a letdown Down loss.
- 1:00:08Syracuse is a it just went up. Sorry.
- 1:00:12Six point favorite in the dome. What do you got on this one?
- 1:00:18Well, this is me. Sorry is I think we're
- 1:00:25everybody's Get Right game. Give me BC, give me the points.
- 1:00:29Okay, okay. I think you continues to ride
- 1:00:36the success. They had against us, I think BC
- 1:00:41is starting to falter a little bit, so I'll take you, right?
- 1:00:46Will be see again, if they choke it up again, then BC is becoming
- 1:00:51my new Duke. Speaking of duke duke, against
- 1:00:55Wake Forest undefeated, Wake Forest, top 15.
- 1:00:58Ranked potentially could be in the top 10 of the cfp next.
- 1:01:02Weak when it's released. Wake is a 16 and a half Point
- 1:01:06favorite. What do you say on this one?
- 1:01:11I'm going to say Quake here. I think Duke Still Still
- 1:01:14floundering a little bit there. So I'm going to take wake, I
- 1:01:18think wait closes. I'll probably about it's
- 1:01:19probably right at that line about 17 points.
- 1:01:22I think it's going to be bigger. We didn't have to punt last
- 1:01:26week, I scored 70. They had the ball for 17 minutes
- 1:01:31and they were facing a defense. Nobody likes, they couldn't stop
- 1:01:36them. That a lot of times even if it's
- 1:01:40a fit some funky offense, it's sometimes it's a one-off.
- 1:01:43And if you can score points, it doesn't really matter if they're
- 1:01:46moving the ball on you. I think I think week's winning
- 1:01:49this game by like 24 points. Okay, I think the game is going
- 1:01:53to be somewhere like wake. 85 do 21.
- 1:01:58Maybe a little more the over under 70.
- 1:02:00So a little messy. They're all right.
- 1:02:02Braun Louisville. NC State moved Bill coming off,
- 1:02:06kind of a shocking. Wind to me against BC and NC
- 1:02:08State coming off the loss to Miami.
- 1:02:14NC State is a 7 point, favorite in this one, and I feel like
- 1:02:20whatever I do against NC State. It goes exact opposite way.
- 1:02:24But I'm going to keep Keep riding with them.
- 1:02:26I do think Louisville has their flaws and I think seven is just
- 1:02:30a little too much, it's not enough points to lay.
- 1:02:35So I'm going to take NC State in this game, all right?
- 1:02:43I'm gonna ride in Sea State as well.
- 1:02:46I think that they're going to be able to take care of business
- 1:02:49this week. We'll see if Louisville can
- 1:02:51continue putting up points. I think this might be the week
- 1:02:55where they struggle a little bit putting up points.
- 1:02:57So I'll get the state probably the best defense.
- 1:03:00That Louisville potentially has played all year who those four
- 1:03:06and three and probably Wake Forest is probably the best
- 1:03:11defense. They played and they did put 34
- 1:03:14on them and I think NC State's a hell of a lot better than them.
- 1:03:17Alright next game up a little Notre Dame.
- 1:03:21Um see action Notre Dame re and a half Point favorite.
- 1:03:27I feel like this is you do I feel like this is smelly Yeah,
- 1:03:34this is a weird one. I still think this is Notre Dame
- 1:03:38so I'm going to take Notre Dame here.
- 1:03:40Yeah and to me it's a fishing line because Notre Dame has a
- 1:03:44good defense. It's not great but it can slow
- 1:03:46teams down where less us. Everybody else is just scoring
- 1:03:52gobs upon gobs of points on you. And so, I think I'll say this,
- 1:04:00the over-under on this game is 62 and a half.
- 1:04:03I think they got Pegged about right but I think Notre Dame is
- 1:04:08going to win this one by about 8:00 8:00 or 9:00.
- 1:04:11I think it's going to be an entertaining game.
- 1:04:12So you know if you if your it's a night game 730 kick so you
- 1:04:18know definitely fun to watch but I'm a brine.
- 1:04:21Give me Notre Dame on this one. All right Brian it's Mormon
- 1:04:26after Dark. UVA BYU UVA traveling out to
- 1:04:33Utah. 25th, ranked BYU, you want to you to lean to and have.
- 1:04:40What do you think on this one? Because this is an interesting
- 1:04:43one. Yeah.
- 1:04:46I'm gonna go be why you here. And I think this might be a week
- 1:04:54where we see UVA not put up video game numbers, so give me
- 1:05:01BYU here. Yep, I'm kind of feeling you on
- 1:05:05that because if you kind of look at BYU, you know, less the Baler
- 1:05:11laws, they really haven't been given up a lot of points.
- 1:05:15Usually, you know, under somewhere between 27 or under,
- 1:05:20And they've scored some points. So in clearly uva's, offense,
- 1:05:27you know, it's going to be a 10:00 starts, gonna be a late
- 1:05:30night start. I can't see, two and a half
- 1:05:33points. I think it's, I don't know how
- 1:05:35entertaining it's going to be, but I'm going to take BYU to, I
- 1:05:39don't think two and a half is enough to lay on this game.
- 1:05:45Alright, Braun will throw a curveball at you because we got
- 1:05:49to start doing it with Tennessee off this week.
- 1:05:51We can talk about him then but you know we can talk about the
- 1:05:56hottest name released by Bruce Feldman.
- 1:05:58Preserver jigna, Tech job. We're going to talk Texas State
- 1:06:01louisiana-lafayette headed by Billy Napier.
- 1:06:06Louisiana, Louisiana, Louisiana Lafayette.
- 1:06:08Has a 20 and a half Point favorite, Texas, stage 2 and 5
- 1:06:12louisiana-lafayette six and one, the only lost to Texas in the
- 1:06:15opener. What do you think on this one
- 1:06:17wrong? Give me a Lafayette.
- 1:06:22I think they take care of business.
- 1:06:25I'm with you. I think our future head coach
- 1:06:28takes care of this is this is this your 11?
- 1:06:35Probably not, but he's probably up there.
- 1:06:38Okay. Okay.
- 1:06:39Trust is folks that episode is coming in the very near future.
- 1:06:43Don't worry. All right, we're going to close
- 1:06:46it out here tonight with too big.
- 1:06:49Two big, big ten matchups this week, Braun, lets start, first
- 1:06:53with Penn State, Ohio State, Ohio, State is laying 18 and a
- 1:06:58half points. That is an absolute boatload of
- 1:07:03points. It's going to be at the
- 1:07:05Horseshoe, it's going to be a night game.
- 1:07:09What are you feeling on this? 16 and 1 verses 5 and to
- 1:07:12essentially whoever loses this game as out of contention to go
- 1:07:16to the Big Ten title game. I think Ohio State wins this one
- 1:07:21out, right? But I like Penn State with that
- 1:07:23line. That's, that's egregiously
- 1:07:26large. Yeah, it is egregiously large,
- 1:07:30but the way Penn State is played offensive ly.
- 1:07:32It it does Merit, and they've been up and down, but Penn State
- 1:07:37has, I mean everybody's talking about, well, how State's offense
- 1:07:41has been really clicking lie? They played Akron, Rutgers,
- 1:07:45Maryland and Indiana, and it's not the Indiana team from last
- 1:07:49year. That team is just beat up to
- 1:07:51Hell. Yep.
- 1:07:52So I can't, I can't in my right mind.
- 1:07:55Les, 18 and a half points either.
- 1:07:57I'm going to go Penn State. I think honestly, I think it's a
- 1:08:02honestly think it's probably like a 14-point game.
- 1:08:06It's a lot of back and forth. Probably Ohio, State puts the
- 1:08:08hammer down with a few minutes left in the fourth quarter to
- 1:08:12get it there. Anytime we say that, right?
- 1:08:15It's like I want to do this because this should happen and
- 1:08:18then that's when you lose it, you get the bad beat like it's
- 1:08:2230 seconds left and he fumbled into the end zone and they
- 1:08:25recovered for a touchdown. We were like yep that's why.
- 1:08:29All right, bronze, the biggest game of the weekend, the
- 1:08:32networks. Both get it right.
- 1:08:34Everybody will be at Michigan State in East Lansing for number
- 1:08:39six, Michigan against number eight, Michigan State.
- 1:08:44This game is, I mean, in that rivalry, this might be one of
- 1:08:49the biggest games in the history of it because both teams top 10,
- 1:08:56it's going to be a noon kick, unfortunately.
- 1:08:59So I will miss all of it. Yeah.
- 1:09:01Michigan is the four point favorite in this game.
- 1:09:05It has went down from four and a half that it was a little
- 1:09:09earlier when we looked at it. Brian.
- 1:09:10So. Honestly, I'm gonna go Michigan
- 1:09:17probably because of my Harbaugh biased.
- 1:09:21That's it. I think it's going to be ugly.
- 1:09:24I think it could be three, four, six, five, seven.
- 1:09:29I don't think it's gonna be much more than that, but I'll lay
- 1:09:32them for. Okay, I'm gonna say I'm gonna go
- 1:09:37Michigan State here. I think it's going to be a three
- 1:09:39point Michigan win, but I think I think they stay keeps it
- 1:09:44close. It's going to be kicking a field
- 1:09:46goal to win it late the game. Got it Gose party or even
- 1:09:51Michigan kicks. A field goal late in the game to
- 1:09:54wrap it up one. We did not get to just because
- 1:09:58they were we had to get an AP, a lot of ACC games, one game that
- 1:10:03I will. Hopefully for the end of my
- 1:10:04life, attend world's largest outdoor cocktail party down in
- 1:10:09Jacksonville, Florida, and Georgia, Florida struggling and
- 1:10:15I'll say this it again. I hope.
- 1:10:19Georgia wins. And then I hope Shane can knock
- 1:10:22off Florida next week because I'd love to get Dan Mullen and
- 1:10:26Blacksburg heed. My income people would be like,
- 1:10:29well, he's a retread, what he did at Mississippi State and how
- 1:10:32he develops Talent, that's why I want him, okay?
- 1:10:39Alright, Braun. Has anything broke in the last
- 1:10:42hour and 10 minutes we good. Lord we were 10 minutes earlier
- 1:10:47tonight. Brian.
