- 2:55Speaker 4: just going to be an epic night.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Well, the show is obviously going to consist of a
- 3:00Speaker 2: lot of Randall and la la banter. I think it's
- 3:03Speaker 2: like the perfect I like to call it a girl's
- 3:05Speaker 2: night out, but let's be honest. I know all of
- 3:08Speaker 2: you out there who have boyfriends or husbands that sit
- 3:12Speaker 2: there and they're like, why do you watch this show?
- 3:14Speaker 1: And then you turn around.

- 3:19Speaker 2: meaning Vanner Pump Rules. So lord knows, this show is

- 3:26Speaker 2: my girls who know how to you know, fuck shit up,
- 3:29Speaker 2: are gonna be there because it's going to be like,
- 3:32Speaker 2: We're obviously going to have some great drinks. We're going

- 3:41Speaker 3: We're gonna have segments, We're gonna have audience participation, We're
- 3:44Speaker 3: gonna have all types of thing.
- 3:46Speaker 4: It's a wild night out you've been dreaming about. And
- 3:48Speaker 4: I just want to say, tickets again, go on sale

- 4:11Speaker 3: We're gonna do?
- 4:12Speaker 2: No, I want to like, I want to drop it
- 4:15Speaker 2: to you, about it all, ask me whatever. I want
- 4:19Speaker 2: to spill the tea. I want to get to know you.
- 4:21Speaker 2: I want to take pictures. I want to post you
- 4:23Speaker 2: on my Instagram. I want to throw you a tag
- 4:25Speaker 2: plus plus we will have special guests at each city weekends.
- 4:31Speaker 3: We're gonna tell you already we've already asked. I'm dropping it.
- 4:35Speaker 4: We have already asked DJ James Kennedy to be our
- 4:40Speaker 4: one of our special guests DJs. So we're gonna have
- 4:42Speaker 4: him with us for a couple of shows. And we're
- 4:44Speaker 4: very excited that.
- 4:45Speaker 2: I'm the most excited for me because I'm so excited
- 4:49Speaker 2: I can't even talk.
- 4:51Speaker 1: I am because it's like nerve wracking.
- 4:53Speaker 2: No, but having James is like James is like the
- 4:56Speaker 2: boy and obviously, which means we'll have.
- 5:00Speaker 4: And I'm gonna have to have Verqul's gonna have to
- 5:02Speaker 4: be up on stage with us and run through some segments. Anyway,
- 5:04Speaker 4: we are doing some really fun things and I think
- 5:07Speaker 4: we don't want to give away the show, but we
- 5:08Speaker 4: can say this. Lala has made it a give them
- 5:11Speaker 4: Laala experience. So I can promise you all because I've
- 5:14Speaker 4: been there as she's you know, we're creating this together,
- 5:18Speaker 4: but as she is really putting her lallaisms into it,
- 5:22Speaker 4: I think that none of you will be disappointed. I
- 5:24Speaker 4: think it's a girl's night out. I think that I'm
- 5:27Speaker 4: invited just by association. I don't think i'd really be invited,
- 5:31Speaker 4: but I want to tell you that behind the scenes VIP,
- 5:34Speaker 4: I'm sorry. The meet and greet VIP thing that Laala
- 5:36Speaker 4: has created is gonna be really cool because we're gonna
- 5:39Speaker 4: have like people that are of age and drink. We're
- 5:42Speaker 4: gonna have shots, cheers backstage, and we're gonna do like
- 5:45Speaker 4: really fun shit. We're gonna make it really really fun.
- 5:48Speaker 4: And I want I mean, I wish I could tell
- 5:52Speaker 4: you everything, but I could promise you this very interactive,
- 5:56Speaker 4: very audience involved.
- 5:57Speaker 2: Well, I wanted to feel like I invited people to
- 5:59Speaker 2: like chill with me one on one, Like that's what
- 6:03Speaker 2: I want. I don't want it to feel like I just,
- 6:05Speaker 2: you know, sold tickets and it's like, hey, what's up.
- 6:08Speaker 2: It's like, no, you get to kick it with me.
- 6:10Speaker 2: You get a kick it with me, I get a
- 6:12Speaker 2: kick it with you. We're all going to kick it
- 6:14Speaker 2: with each other.
- 6:15Speaker 3: That is correct.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Correct.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Get You're gonna get the Lala. You're gonna get all
- 6:18Speaker 3: Laala on this show.
- 6:19Speaker 2: I'm excited because obviously without you guys listening to the
- 6:22Speaker 2: podcast or.
- 6:23Speaker 1: You know, giving a single shit about me.
- 6:25Speaker 2: I don't get to go on tour, so this is
- 6:27Speaker 2: a huge deal for Randall and myself and I just
- 6:30Speaker 2: can't wait to meet all of you guys.
- 6:33Speaker 3: Yes, So that's the big news of this week again Friday,
- 6:36Speaker 3: one more time. Case you just dropped dropping in to
- 6:39Speaker 3: listen ten am give them live dot com. Fuck go
- 6:44Speaker 3: to Lala's instagram. You'll see more details there. But tickets
- 6:47Speaker 3: are on sales Friday. We can't wait to see everybody.
- 6:51Speaker 3: I am very very honored. I hope I have five
- 6:53Speaker 3: SIP fans in every city.
- 6:55Speaker 2: But people love you, rand I think you're gonna see
- 6:58Speaker 2: that starting, you know, on our first in our first city,
- 7:02Speaker 2: which is Dallas, Texas House of Blues on November thirty.
- 7:06Speaker 3: It's that's the first I have friends in every city.
- 7:09Speaker 4: So I'm going to make sure five people of my
- 7:11Speaker 4: friends get tickets so that when like I come out
- 7:14Speaker 4: for my little thing or whatever. Yeah, you know, they're
- 7:17Speaker 4: like cheering, and then you think, and I've gotten really
- 7:19Speaker 4: like popular, but really it's like my friends that I paid,
- 7:22Speaker 4: Oh dude, like I'm going to buy their tickets for
- 7:24Speaker 4: them because they won't even probably buy them to see me.
- 7:26Speaker 2: No, maybe well they'll buy them to see me, So
- 7:29Speaker 2: that's true.
- 7:29Speaker 4: I don't know if we're there anyway. We're really excited, guys,
- 7:32Speaker 4: and that's like a big deal. And we've worked hard
- 7:34Speaker 4: on this and it was probably it was going to
- 7:36Speaker 4: happen earlier and then pandemic kicked in and kicked all.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Of our asses.
- 7:40Speaker 1: But I'll take it whenever I can get it.
- 7:42Speaker 4: But by the way, can I tell you something, I
- 7:44Speaker 4: am so excited to be out at you know, at
- 7:47Speaker 4: this time on tour because to meet people and hang
- 7:51Speaker 4: out and just have the most fun we can have.
- 7:53Speaker 4: I think it's going to be a great experience for everybody.
- 7:55Speaker 4: So this Friday, buy your tickets and and uh and
- 7:59Speaker 4: we'll see soon.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Now back to our podcast, back to back to our podcast.
- 8:05Speaker 2: So we, like I said, are having Heather McDonald on.
- 8:08Speaker 2: And also even though like she got her star as
- 8:11Speaker 2: stand up comedian, she has the most epic podcast in
- 8:15Speaker 2: the entire world.
- 8:15Speaker 1: I don't know if you guys follow her, it's.
- 8:17Speaker 3: A huge podcast, Like it's somebody we look.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Up to, and it really is the juiciest of all scoops.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Like every time I look at her promoting her next podcast,
- 8:26Speaker 2: I can't wait to listen because she fuacking puts in
- 8:29Speaker 2: the work. She puts in the work.
- 8:31Speaker 1: To find the juicy scoop.
- 8:33Speaker 3: Correct.
- 8:34Speaker 2: So I have a question for you before we get
- 8:35Speaker 2: Heather on here. Yeah, how do you like being a
- 8:38Speaker 2: Vanner pump Roules cast member?
- 8:40Speaker 3: Okay, I'm not a vander pump Roles cast member.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I love to tear you refer.
- 8:44Speaker 3: To me as that. Not that I have any disrespect.
- 8:48Speaker 4: I'm just I'm a movie film I'm a film director
- 8:52Speaker 4: and film producer.
- 8:53Speaker 2: That's absolutely correct. In fact, you just were in Florida
- 8:58Speaker 2: for one of.
- 8:59Speaker 4: The I I was for the first screening at the
- 9:03Speaker 4: Gasparilla Film Festival of Midnight and Switchgrass or Movie with
- 9:07Speaker 4: Megan Fox from Shinga and Kelly Emil Hirsch.
- 9:09Speaker 3: So we had our first screening, a bunch of actors, fluent.
- 9:12Speaker 4: We had our first screening in a real theater, first
- 9:15Speaker 4: time I've been in a real theater and almost a
- 9:16Speaker 4: year and a half. It went great, And now we
- 9:18Speaker 4: have the world premiere coming up July nineteenth in La
- 9:22Speaker 4: So it's very exciting.
- 9:24Speaker 2: But yes, what's that going to be like for you?
- 9:25Speaker 2: Because you've been to a million and one premieres as
- 9:28Speaker 2: a producer. As a producer, what's it going to be
- 9:30Speaker 2: like your first It's like your directorial debut for real.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Yeah, well, i'll tell you.
- 9:35Speaker 4: Even in Tampa at the premiere, I was very emotional
- 9:39Speaker 4: because it was my first premiere as a director and
- 9:42Speaker 4: it's a very different thing. I was petrified. I was nervous.
- 9:46Speaker 3: You know. I had all the actors around me, so
- 9:49Speaker 3: I felt like pretty safe because it was like.
- 9:50Speaker 2: By all of your actors have been very supportive of
- 9:53Speaker 2: the film. And you know when I say that, I'm
- 9:55Speaker 2: sure everyone's like, well, of course they were supportive.
- 9:57Speaker 5: Of the film.
- 9:58Speaker 1: But there are many actors.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Who are not behind the films that they're in. I
- 10:03Speaker 2: don't want to say a lot, but there's been actors
- 10:05Speaker 2: who don't back up the film.
- 10:06Speaker 3: It happens all the time.
- 10:07Speaker 4: I produced over one hundred and fifteen hundred and eighteen movies,
- 10:10Speaker 4: and there's movies where the movie just doesn't work well
- 10:13Speaker 4: and talent doesn't always get behind it. But at the
- 10:16Speaker 4: same time, there are movies all over the place.
- 10:18Speaker 3: I think. I think when you have cast that really.
- 10:21Speaker 4: Believes in the film, like the cast I have who
- 10:24Speaker 4: really believed in it from the beginning, and then we
- 10:27Speaker 4: lived through a pandemic together. You know, it took us
- 10:30Speaker 4: nine months to finish a movie, which is not normal
- 10:32Speaker 4: for a small independent film. I think really brought us
- 10:35Speaker 4: all together. So I'm very, very proud of the relationships
- 10:37Speaker 4: I have with everybody.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Tell our listeners how many views the trailer got when
- 10:45Speaker 2: it came out?
- 10:46Speaker 4: Well, worldwide impressions is what the studio tells me, is
- 10:50Speaker 4: like the test, like how many impressions on all platforms, trailer, this,
- 10:56Speaker 4: that articles, everything? Okay, they called me and they had
- 10:59Speaker 4: said got north of three billion impressions, which is like
- 11:04Speaker 4: for a small indie movie, is a lot. So it's
- 11:08Speaker 4: pretty exciting part of this.
- 11:10Speaker 2: For those of you who don't know the film we're
- 11:12Speaker 2: talking about, let's tell them again.
- 11:14Speaker 4: It's Midnight in the Switchgrass opens in July. You can
- 11:17Speaker 4: go to Midnight and switch Grass and see the trailer
- 11:19Speaker 4: and check it out. I'm really really proud of it.
- 11:22Speaker 4: I you know, I am nervous. I'm because the first
- 11:25Speaker 4: the screening in Florida, that's like my home state, that's
- 11:28Speaker 4: that festival is like a home.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Festival for Yeah, that's close to your heart.
- 11:31Speaker 4: Yeah, and it was a it was a local festival
- 11:33Speaker 4: that I wanted to kind of put the film first,
- 11:37Speaker 4: somewhere where I kind of knew and it was and
- 11:40Speaker 4: it was festival that was happening at the right time
- 11:42Speaker 4: for us.
- 11:43Speaker 3: Where the film was ready right.
- 11:44Speaker 4: And now the premiere will happen and next month here
- 11:48Speaker 4: in Los Angeles, which a lot of my peers and
- 11:50Speaker 4: colleagues will come and you know, and that will be
- 11:53Speaker 4: the real judge and then and that will open.
- 11:56Speaker 3: So yeah, no, I'm very proud.
- 11:57Speaker 4: It's very different going to a movie premiere as a
- 12:00Speaker 4: director because it's like your baby. You created something, worked hard,
- 12:03Speaker 4: and then you're releasing it to the world for judgment,
- 12:06Speaker 4: and whereas as a producer, it's your baby. But the
- 12:10Speaker 4: film is always going to be a director's and you know,
- 12:13Speaker 4: a director's baby more and more so because they're the
- 12:17Speaker 4: ones who will get judged on the quality of the
- 12:20Speaker 4: film more so than a producer will. So I understand
- 12:24Speaker 4: now you know what it's like to go to a
- 12:26Speaker 4: premier as a director, which is very different as a producer.
- 12:29Speaker 4: You know, you show up and you're excited and you're celebrating.
- 12:32Speaker 3: You know, you don't have the nerves that let's say
- 12:34Speaker 3: a director has because he put his heart and soul
- 12:38Speaker 3: and his creative you know self into it, and he's
- 12:42Speaker 3: going to be judged for that, you know, as what
- 12:44Speaker 3: people think. So it's a little nerve wrecking, but but
- 12:49Speaker 3: I am excited. I'm very proud, and.
- 12:50Speaker 2: I think it's good for you though, Rand, because you
- 12:53Speaker 2: have been in film for such a long time, and
- 12:56Speaker 2: you've always wanted to be in film. At first, it
- 12:59Speaker 2: was you wanted to be an actor than you wanted
- 13:01Speaker 2: to be behind the camera.
- 13:02Speaker 3: I was a child, I was actually right, But you've.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Always wanted to be in film in any.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I love movies. I love movies.
- 13:09Speaker 3: I don't care what what, Yeah, I loved every part
- 13:11Speaker 3: of film. Right.
- 13:13Speaker 2: So, then north of one hundred films later that you've produced,
- 13:17Speaker 2: I feel like you could kind of do it in
- 13:18Speaker 2: your sleep. And I don't want to say that the
- 13:21Speaker 2: creative juice was no longer there, but because it was
- 13:25Speaker 2: such second nature to you, you needed something that could
- 13:28Speaker 2: bring you back to the craft of filmmaking.
- 13:31Speaker 1: And don't you feel like, yeah, just did that.
- 13:33Speaker 4: I think that I was at a crossroad in my
- 13:35Speaker 4: life where I felt the artistic side of me was
- 13:41Speaker 4: a little stale, you know, I think that I became
- 13:44Speaker 4: you know, I'm I really love producing and I'm very
- 13:47Speaker 4: I think I'm pretty good at it. But but I
- 13:50Speaker 4: think that, you know, it's I feel like for me,
- 13:55Speaker 4: I was getting caught up more on the stresses of
- 13:58Speaker 4: producing and struggles are producing and forgetting about the rewards
- 14:03Speaker 4: you know, of like how how great it is just
- 14:05Speaker 4: to produce.
- 14:05Speaker 3: A movie, let alone multiple films.
- 14:08Speaker 4: So I just felt like I needed to challenge myself
- 14:11Speaker 4: and I felt like I needed to reignite that creative
- 14:13Speaker 4: bugging me like I had when I first started producing.
- 14:16Speaker 4: And I think directing put a lot of fear in
- 14:19Speaker 4: me to try something out of my comfort zone.
- 14:23Speaker 3: And I think that's why I needed to do it.
- 14:24Speaker 3: And then when I did it, I didn't know how
- 14:27Speaker 3: I would feel about it, Like even though I I, okay,
- 14:30Speaker 3: I'll know, I'll get through the film, but will I
- 14:32Speaker 3: like it, Will it be horrible? Will it suck? Will
- 14:35Speaker 3: I just It's an unknown on all levels. You know,
- 14:38Speaker 3: I've worked with some of the greatest filmmakers in the
- 14:40Speaker 3: world that I that I look up to to this day.
- 14:43Speaker 3: I called a lot of them every day and would
- 14:45Speaker 3: be like, you know, I'm freaking the fuck out? Am
- 14:48Speaker 3: I am? I? Am?
- 14:49Speaker 4: I doing something wrong? Like if you're not freaking out,
- 14:51Speaker 4: then you're then you're definitely doing something wrong. So I
- 14:54Speaker 4: was like, Okay, that's not that comforting, but okay. So
- 14:56Speaker 4: but anyway, so you know, I went through the process
- 14:58Speaker 4: and in the end.
- 14:59Speaker 3: I I really just rebirthed, you know, my creative fire
- 15:04Speaker 3: and I feel so like alive when I'm directing now
- 15:07Speaker 3: and when I'm creating.
- 15:09Speaker 4: So I'm excited. But you know what's great about it
- 15:11Speaker 4: is that directing is a medium that you're always going
- 15:15Speaker 4: to be trying to master. And here I am at
- 15:17Speaker 4: fifty years old, having done two movies now and getting
- 15:20Speaker 4: ready to do my third as a director, and it's
- 15:22Speaker 4: like it's like I'm going to be learning for a
- 15:25Speaker 4: long time.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Like this is not something that I'm just going to
- 15:27Speaker 3: be like, oh, I got it in the bag, you know,
- 15:29Speaker 3: let let's go on to the next.
- 15:30Speaker 4: This is going to be something that that it's going
- 15:32Speaker 4: to take a lot of work and focus and I
- 15:36Speaker 4: love it. So I like that part of it, but
- 15:38Speaker 4: I still love producing.
- 15:39Speaker 3: It's just a very very.
- 15:41Speaker 4: Different It's two extremes, you know, producing a lot of business,
- 15:44Speaker 4: a lot of deals, a lot of a lot of
- 15:48Speaker 4: you know, financial negotiation, things like that, and and then
- 15:51Speaker 4: you know you're overseeing the whole process. You're not you're
- 15:53Speaker 4: not doing one thing as a producer, you're overseeing every
- 15:56Speaker 4: part of it. And then as a director, you're solely
- 15:58Speaker 4: responsible for the creative process.
- 16:00Speaker 3: And that's a big thing in itself.
- 16:01Speaker 2: So, uh, yeah, it was an incredible cast to work
- 16:05Speaker 2: with on your first movie directing.
- 16:08Speaker 4: Yeah, it was pretty awesome. You know, I was lucky
- 16:10Speaker 4: that I had relationships like you know, Emil Hirsh who
- 16:14Speaker 4: I was the first actor and at the table.
- 16:15Speaker 2: Read, I remember that. Yeah, I was in that table read.
- 16:18Speaker 3: I know you were. Yeah, and uh and yeah, and
- 16:21Speaker 3: you got replaced by Megan Fox. Yeah, no, no, you
- 16:26Speaker 3: you did me. You didn't get replaced.
- 16:28Speaker 2: I'm joking, one hundred percent, got fucking replaced.
- 16:31Speaker 3: You did not get replaced. You're trying to tell a
- 16:33Speaker 3: story that's in.
- 16:34Speaker 2: All honesty, like I would replace me with Megan Fox.
- 16:37Speaker 4: You did, okay, but you didn't get replaced because I said,
- 16:40Speaker 4: you will you do me a favor and read this
- 16:41Speaker 4: role because I know you're a good actor and I said,
- 16:44Speaker 4: would you read this role for me so I could
- 16:45Speaker 4: hear the part out loud?
- 16:46Speaker 3: And you agreed, and I and you always said, you're right.
- 16:49Speaker 2: I can't be replaced on something that was never really mine.
- 16:52Speaker 3: No. No, Because you and I talked to you and
- 16:54Speaker 3: I talked about it where we sat.
- 16:55Speaker 4: You knew that I had to cast a certain name,
- 16:57Speaker 4: level of actor to get the financer.
- 16:59Speaker 2: And that name was not like they were like, she's great, Randy,
- 17:06Speaker 2: We really, you know, we really we love her work
- 17:08Speaker 2: on vander Pumperwol's but we're thinking we just want to
- 17:11Speaker 2: go another direction.
- 17:12Speaker 4: No, okay, all right, no, but that's not the case.
- 17:15Speaker 4: But what I am very grateful is because I do
- 17:18Speaker 4: know you're a very good actor. You read the role
- 17:20Speaker 4: and you crushed it, and it allowed me to hear
- 17:22Speaker 4: that role. You and Emil Hirsch and all these Lucas
- 17:25Speaker 4: and all these different actors that came. And what I
- 17:27Speaker 4: loved is I was able to hear the script in
- 17:30Speaker 4: that read through. And it was in that read through
- 17:33Speaker 4: that I wrote a note to myself and said I'm
- 17:35Speaker 4: going to direct this movie.
- 17:36Speaker 3: Like I wasn't sure.
- 17:37Speaker 1: At that point, right, I remember, this was still like
- 17:39Speaker 1: up in the air.
- 17:40Speaker 4: It is it a good script? Am I ready? Or
- 17:43Speaker 4: am I going to talk myself out of it? And
- 17:44Speaker 4: after that read through, listening to you and Emil and
- 17:48Speaker 4: all the different actors that came out to support me
- 17:50Speaker 4: that day, I knew twenty minutes into the read through,
- 17:53Speaker 4: I said, oh, I'm definitely directing this movie. And then
- 17:55Speaker 4: I wrote to a Meal on the back of the
- 17:57Speaker 4: script as he was reading, I wrote to him play
- 18:00Speaker 4: this role because I think I want to.
- 18:01Speaker 2: He was fantastic and he but he I feel like
- 18:04Speaker 2: he kills every new plays. He's he's they don't make
- 18:08Speaker 2: actors with kids.
- 18:10Speaker 4: He's one of those actors that people, I mean, come on,
- 18:14Speaker 4: he was in you know, he's in everything, and he's
- 18:16Speaker 4: just one. There's a handful of actors in our industry
- 18:20Speaker 4: that just when they show up, they've got that magical
- 18:23Speaker 4: ability that's just so deep.
- 18:24Speaker 2: And so now you got a Meal Hirsh fresh off
- 18:27Speaker 2: of Once upon a Time in Hollywood.
- 18:30Speaker 4: No fuck, he was at the Oscars and Brad Pitt's
- 18:34Speaker 4: winning Best Actor and you know he's working with Quentin
- 18:36Speaker 4: Tarantino and he's like Quentin Tarantino.
- 18:38Speaker 3: Redd element right. No, but you know what I like
- 18:42Speaker 3: about a meal is.
- 18:42Speaker 4: We had done Loan Survivor together, and we did a
- 18:45Speaker 4: couple other movies as a producer, and and I just
- 18:47Speaker 4: said to him, look, you know, I'm going to try this.
- 18:50Speaker 4: I don't know, you know, I don't know how I'm
- 18:52Speaker 4: gonna be and I just let you know. So he's
- 18:54Speaker 4: so nice, and I don't We'll get off the subject
- 18:56Speaker 4: and say but it was so nice that I listened
- 18:59Speaker 4: to the behind the scenes of Midnight and Swishcress like
- 19:01Speaker 4: they do the commentary where the actors get interviewed, and
- 19:05Speaker 4: I was shocked because he was just like Randall's got
- 19:08Speaker 4: this energy and he's just really good at directing, and
- 19:11Speaker 4: he just knows.
- 19:11Speaker 3: What he wants and he's excited. He's fun to be around,
- 19:13Speaker 3: and he's just got such a vision. And it was
- 19:16Speaker 3: like wow, like he you know, I would like to
- 19:18Speaker 3: hear that from an actor that I look up to
- 19:20Speaker 3: so much and I have such respect for. Was very,
- 19:23Speaker 3: very kind. So I'm lucky I had somebody that I
- 19:25Speaker 3: that was a friend that I trusted, that allowed me
- 19:28Speaker 3: to allow him to be great. And he's so good
- 19:31Speaker 3: and it's so fun to be a director and watch
- 19:33Speaker 3: great actors.
- 19:34Speaker 4: Even my next movie that we're cutting now with de
- 19:37Speaker 4: Niro and Malcovich and Jack Houston, all these great actors,
- 19:40Speaker 4: like actors you know of this caliber are so epic.
- 19:44Speaker 3: They're just so you know.
- 19:46Speaker 4: It makes me think back when I was a kid
- 19:48Speaker 4: and I was pursuing acting very young before I went
- 19:50Speaker 4: to film school in college, and I think about, you know,
- 19:55Speaker 4: I was never like these people, like like it was
- 19:57Speaker 4: cool that I was like, Okay, I was like, I'm
- 20:00Speaker 4: you know, I could do Charlie Brown or whatever. But
- 20:03Speaker 4: I mean, these these actors, I mean, you know, I
- 20:05Speaker 4: think God had a plan for me to be in
- 20:07Speaker 4: the film business behind the camera and watching these actors
- 20:11Speaker 4: do what they do. I don't even know how they
- 20:13Speaker 4: get there. I don't even know how. I mean, you
- 20:15Speaker 4: know you're an actor, you know you've done it a lot.
- 20:17Speaker 4: I mean, you guys do things. You know, actors do
- 20:20Speaker 4: things that are magical on sets. They can take a character,
- 20:23Speaker 4: internalize it and and and then put it out there.
- 20:26Speaker 4: You know in a way that you're just like what
- 20:29Speaker 4: things Emil did And I'm gonna move on.
- 20:30Speaker 1: I promises that things.
- 20:32Speaker 3: But things Emil did and Lucas Hawes did and Caitlin
- 20:35Speaker 3: Carmichael's in the movie. The things they do you read
- 20:39Speaker 3: on the page and as a director you make all
- 20:40Speaker 3: these notes and you're like, Okay, do this, and when
- 20:43Speaker 3: we get to this scene and then I want to
- 20:45Speaker 3: feel this moment here and writing all these different things
- 20:47Speaker 3: down and we get on set and I start kind
- 20:49Speaker 3: of shaping it, and then they just bring something to
- 20:52Speaker 3: the table that can you set the bar? And then
- 20:55Speaker 3: it's above and you're like, what just fucking happened?
- 20:59Speaker 1: Like we were character to life.
- 21:00Speaker 2: You simply look at the dialogue and you picture, you
- 21:03Speaker 2: may picture, you know how you think they should act,
- 21:06Speaker 2: but then you can't. You can't think about how someone
- 21:11Speaker 2: should act. Like it's totally different when you see a
- 21:15Speaker 2: character come to life and it's you know, someone else's
- 21:18Speaker 2: perception of what the character should bring.
- 21:20Speaker 3: Well, yeah, And I think I.
- 21:21Speaker 4: Think for me as a director, I really love directing
- 21:25Speaker 4: you know, great actors, and I pride myself on that
- 21:28Speaker 4: and coming from an acting background, and I feel like
- 21:31Speaker 4: I have a connection like with Emil and Lucas and
- 21:33Speaker 4: Kaitlin and Megan and all these actors, even MGK. When
- 21:38Speaker 4: I was there, I felt like there are moments that
- 21:41Speaker 4: it's just flawless total, those moments like I want to
- 21:44Speaker 4: see a little.
- 21:44Speaker 3: More of something and that's why you're there. No, no,
- 21:46Speaker 3: And I love that they'll just they'll trust me to
- 21:50Speaker 3: when I say, hey, try it this way, try totally.
- 21:53Speaker 3: And sometimes it's wrong, it just doesn't work. And sometimes
- 21:56Speaker 3: it's magical. And when you have this magical moment between
- 21:59Speaker 3: you know, the scene and you're sitting there, you're just
- 22:01Speaker 3: like wow. And for me, that's the high, the highest,
- 22:04Speaker 3: watching these incredible performances of life and shaping them and
- 22:09Speaker 3: all that.
- 22:09Speaker 2: So I get exactly what you mean, because there was
- 22:11Speaker 2: and this was years ago. It was like when the
- 22:15Speaker 2: Sex and the City movie had just come out and
- 22:18Speaker 2: they came out with a book which was the script.
- 22:23Speaker 2: They put it in book form, okay, and I had
- 22:25Speaker 2: just flipped to the page. Have you seen Sex in
- 22:27Speaker 2: the City, rand.
- 22:28Speaker 3: I saw a TV show?
- 22:29Speaker 2: Okay, Well there's I mean back, okay, Well there's the
- 22:32Speaker 2: scene when Big doesn't show up to the wedding. Okay,
- 22:35Speaker 2: and it's like just any woman that watched that was
- 22:39Speaker 2: just it was devastating. Okay. The line from Charlotte as
- 22:43Speaker 2: Big approaches as Charlotte is hugging Carrie that after Big
- 22:48Speaker 2: decided to like not come to the wedding, and she
- 22:51Speaker 2: Charlotte points at Big and is like no, and the
- 22:54Speaker 2: script just says no, says no, no, And I'm thinking, oh.
- 22:58Speaker 3: My god, it was it was so much deeper than that.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 23:02Speaker 2: Like when Charlotte screams no at Big, yeah, like you
- 23:06Speaker 2: literally your heart just is on the floor, and all
- 23:10Speaker 2: the script says no, no, with an exclamation.
- 23:13Speaker 4: And that I think is an incredible collaborative moment between
- 23:16Speaker 4: an actor and a director where that magic happens. And
- 23:19Speaker 4: I think for me that's you know, you could look
- 23:21Speaker 4: at even my script from Midnight, or you could look
- 23:23Speaker 4: at you know, the Nial movie I just finished. There's
- 23:26Speaker 4: moments in the cut that you'll look and it was
- 23:29Speaker 4: so much deeper and more beautiful and bigger. But the
- 23:33Speaker 4: writer sets the platform for us, and then it's the
- 23:36Speaker 4: draw to the job as of the director and the
- 23:37Speaker 4: actor to take it to that next place and and uh,
- 23:40Speaker 4: it's really a fun process. So for me, I'm like,
- 23:42Speaker 4: it's just like at blank canvas and you know, you
- 23:46Speaker 4: kind of have a setup and then you have to
- 23:48Speaker 4: kind of create from there and it could go so
- 23:50Speaker 4: many different ways.
- 23:51Speaker 6: Right.
- 23:51Speaker 4: So that's that's why I love the directing process so much. Creatively,
- 23:55Speaker 4: I love producing very different medium.
- 23:57Speaker 2: You want to what's great about life? We can do
- 24:00Speaker 2: it all? I agree, we can do it all. Rand Okay, Okay.
- 24:07Speaker 3: I agree.
- 24:08Speaker 5: Guys.
- 24:08Speaker 2: The limit? Where does it end? It doesn't?
- 24:10Speaker 3: It doesn't?
- 24:12Speaker 4: You know what the moral of the story is. I'm
- 24:14Speaker 4: fifty years old. I was forty eight when I started Midnight,
- 24:17Speaker 4: forty nine when I did THEA Wash Me the other movie.
- 24:20Speaker 4: And I'll tell you something. You're never too old to
- 24:23Speaker 4: go after your dreams. That is really really my mantra.
- 24:28Speaker 4: I'm serious people, If I can pivot in my career
- 24:34Speaker 4: and go after something and try something which.
- 24:36Speaker 3: Even for me was I was petrified.
- 24:41Speaker 4: I mean, I'll be honest and question everything about what
- 24:44Speaker 4: I do in this business. If I can change and
- 24:47Speaker 4: try something, that means that it's never too late. That's
- 24:51Speaker 4: my point is that it doesn't matter if you're sixty
- 24:54Speaker 4: or fifty or seventy or thirty five, or or you
- 24:57Speaker 4: or you went to college for you.
- 25:00Speaker 3: Know, I don't know architecture correct, And then you just
- 25:03Speaker 3: say you want to be a pianist, right. But my
- 25:06Speaker 3: point is like it's okay, and it's okay to wake
- 25:09Speaker 3: up and say, you know what, maybe I'm not that
- 25:12Speaker 3: fulfilled going down this road right now, and I want
- 25:14Speaker 3: to try a different road and maybe it'll take me
- 25:16Speaker 3: back to the original road or maybe this will be
- 25:18Speaker 3: my new road. But whatever it is, I just want
- 25:20Speaker 3: people to always know that it's your dreams are your dreams,
- 25:25Speaker 3: and you have one life on this earth that we
- 25:28Speaker 3: know about, and on this earth, you want to make
- 25:31Speaker 3: sure you leave it all out there. And so that's
- 25:33Speaker 3: why I took a chance on a gamble, because you know,
- 25:36Speaker 3: I want my kids to look up to me and say,
- 25:38Speaker 3: my dad, you know, never ever, ever was afraid to
- 25:41Speaker 3: try something new, even whether it works or not.
- 25:43Speaker 2: So yeah, I love it. Well. On that note, I
- 25:47Speaker 2: think we should take a short break.
- 25:49Speaker 3: It's a lot about the movie.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Let's I liked it.
- 25:52Speaker 3: Holy shit, I feel like I'm on a film channel
- 25:55Speaker 3: to give.
- 25:55Speaker 4: Them Laala with Randall? Or is this give them Lalla
- 25:58Speaker 4: the cinematic experience?
- 26:00Speaker 2: This is give them Whaila with Randall. You're welcome, We'll
- 26:04Speaker 2: be right back. We are back with Heather McDonald.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Yes, Heather McDonald.
- 26:16Speaker 5: Thank you. Anyway, I own a beautiful home.
- 26:18Speaker 6: I got to meet ocean, yes, and see your backyard.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Did it make you nervous when she started crying? No, No,
- 26:26Speaker 2: I'm a mother.
- 26:27Speaker 1: She cries a lot.
- 26:29Speaker 5: Well, you know every kid is different.
- 26:31Speaker 3: Did your kids cry a lot? Did your kids cry
- 26:33Speaker 3: a lot?
- 26:33Speaker 6: To be honest, my older son would cry every night
- 26:37Speaker 6: from about like oh god, six to eight, oh, just
- 26:40Speaker 6: two hours, and I would like go like this and
- 26:43Speaker 6: watch TV and just shake them like that.
- 26:45Speaker 5: But then, you know, they're so easy.
- 26:47Speaker 6: You know what, Can I just say this what I've
- 26:49Speaker 6: discovered because I have two boys that are teenagers. I
- 26:52Speaker 6: went on a girls trip for my birthday and the
- 26:55Speaker 6: boy moms we have it's so easy. No one hears
- 26:59Speaker 6: from it. We only get a text like is there food?
- 27:02Speaker 6: Kind of go to Chick fil a.
- 27:05Speaker 5: I literally have to be like, are you okay? Yes?
- 27:08Speaker 6: The girls, the moms who have teenage girls. One of
- 27:11Speaker 6: my friends, her daughter, has ruined four of our girl trips.
- 27:15Speaker 5: Not ruined, but disrupted. Disrupted.
- 27:19Speaker 6: Okay, So the first time it was a boyfriend breakup.
- 27:22Speaker 6: Another time I.
- 27:23Speaker 5: Was there and it was like a fight with her dad.
- 27:25Speaker 5: They're divorced.
- 27:27Speaker 6: Another time it was she got we were at we
- 27:31Speaker 6: all got together to for one of my friends.
- 27:33Speaker 5: Her husband died.
- 27:34Speaker 6: We were like at a like for a weekend, like
- 27:37Speaker 6: celebrating his life.
- 27:39Speaker 5: And she is on the phone the whole time because.
- 27:42Speaker 6: The girl's got in trouble for drinking on a boat
- 27:45Speaker 6: or something.
- 27:46Speaker 5: Then another time we're.
- 27:48Speaker 6: All in DC and she checks her nest and she
- 27:52Speaker 6: sees that the girl has all these boys coming through.
- 27:55Speaker 3: Okay, okay, I'm about to go take a san X.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Then what the fuck?
- 27:59Speaker 5: So then I said, I go.
- 28:01Speaker 6: So when I said on that one, I go, do
- 28:03Speaker 6: you realize that blank has ruined our four of my
- 28:07Speaker 6: girl trips? And she lives far away, she lives on
- 28:09Speaker 6: the East Coast, and it's like for me to go
- 28:11Speaker 6: see her, for her to see me, it's a big effort.
- 28:14Speaker 5: And she's like, oh my god, that's right.
- 28:16Speaker 6: And so that she said to her when she was
- 28:18Speaker 6: coming out to Palm Desert for my birthday, she goes,
- 28:20Speaker 6: I've talked to her and it's not a problem. Like
- 28:23Speaker 6: she said, she's going to be nothing's going to happen.
- 28:25Speaker 6: I hope to God not. So she was not the
- 28:27Speaker 6: disruptor my other friends. Oh daughter got in a fight.
- 28:30Speaker 1: With the dad. Oh my dad, you're.
- 28:33Speaker 6: Too leaning and she puts her on speakerphone and she's like, well,
- 28:38Speaker 6: I have to come Hope having a panic attack.
- 28:41Speaker 5: That's our fakest pend Atteck I ever heard.
- 28:43Speaker 6: And then she's like then the sun was a witness
- 28:46Speaker 6: And he's like, mom, that's being fine.
- 28:48Speaker 5: She's just being a free and then she's just like
- 28:51Speaker 5: and I go, oh my god, do not please tell
- 28:53Speaker 5: me you're not gonna leave. She's like no, I'm not
- 28:54Speaker 5: fucking leaving. So then that at the end.
- 28:56Speaker 6: So then we go to this woman's house that I
- 28:58Speaker 6: met that I was like, hey, you happen to be
- 29:01Speaker 6: in your twenty million dollar mansion today.
- 29:02Speaker 5: She's like yeah.
- 29:03Speaker 6: So I'm like, who wants to stay for Sunday? Normally
- 29:06Speaker 6: always Sunday Palm Springs. Everyone starts to drive around one.
- 29:10Speaker 6: Oh my god, it's the best to stay till like seven.
- 29:12Speaker 5: It is the best.
- 29:13Speaker 6: I will never leave it, really because the traffic was
- 29:16Speaker 6: better at like seven.
- 29:17Speaker 5: And then we went to a place.
- 29:19Speaker 6: Where were in the pool and then she's like stay here,
- 29:21Speaker 6: stay here, and I'm like, I have all this I
- 29:23Speaker 6: pressed to do because I was on the bachelorette.
- 29:25Speaker 5: I've to do tomorrow. And my friend didn't hear that,
- 29:27Speaker 5: and she goes, why don't we just stay here? And
- 29:30Speaker 5: I go, what, you're a lawyer? Like what are you doing?
- 29:32Speaker 5: I just never want to I just don't want to
- 29:34Speaker 5: go home to my daughter.
- 29:35Speaker 2: No.
- 29:36Speaker 5: He's like, I don't want to go home to that
- 29:37Speaker 5: family of mine. I'm like no, I'm like, then the
- 29:40Speaker 5: forty has to end. And then I was like, oh man,
- 29:42Speaker 5: this would be a funny movie. Like a bunch of
- 29:44Speaker 5: women my age that just go fuck it.
- 29:46Speaker 6: They just like leave their life like they just they
- 29:50Speaker 6: just no one's going home, Like just no one's going home.
- 29:55Speaker 1: It's a road change.
- 29:57Speaker 3: It's quitting their family, quitting their family.
- 29:59Speaker 5: They're just I don't want to go home?
- 30:01Speaker 3: Did you stay Sunday night? And lead Monday?
- 30:03Speaker 6: We left it like seven or so seven or so
- 30:06Speaker 6: that I dropped off my friend who would fly home,
- 30:08Speaker 6: and then I was home like at ten.
- 30:09Speaker 3: How bad was the hangover Monday?
- 30:11Speaker 6: It wasn't so bad because I didn't really drink on Sunday.
- 30:14Speaker 6: We were really good. We did that by talks. Tell
- 30:17Speaker 6: everybody about it. I wish they were a sponsor.
- 30:19Speaker 3: What is a by talks?
- 30:21Speaker 5: I remember I gave you.
- 30:21Speaker 6: One and it was like we didn't it's so clear
- 30:24Speaker 6: we thought it was a throwaway.
- 30:26Speaker 5: You put it on your butt.
- 30:27Speaker 6: It's just a sticker, and it's like like twelve, you
- 30:33Speaker 6: put it on a sticker on your butt and don't
- 30:35Speaker 6: get your first drink. So like around six it's hard
- 30:39Speaker 6: if you're drinking like twenty four hours, hard because you
- 30:41Speaker 6: don't know when you peel it off when you start
- 30:43Speaker 6: a crashing. But if it's a normal night where it's
- 30:45Speaker 6: like you're doing your hair and it's about six o'clock
- 30:47Speaker 6: six or seven, you put it on then. And what
- 30:50Speaker 6: I really like is I like to have, you know,
- 30:54Speaker 6: different kinds of alcohol throughout the night, and this keeps
- 30:57Speaker 6: me from not getting hung.
- 30:58Speaker 3: By the way, I really to that you, Yes, you
- 31:02Speaker 3: have shots ofster.
- 31:05Speaker 5: You don't like?
- 31:07Speaker 3: You had one?
- 31:08Speaker 6: Yes, it was so good, Norah, when you're at USC,
- 31:12Speaker 6: I don't like lucorice.
- 31:13Speaker 5: It was the worst experience.
- 31:14Speaker 3: Of my life. What about Yeah, other things.
- 31:17Speaker 5: I'm just not a shot person.
- 31:19Speaker 3: I like the shots because I like to get right
- 31:20Speaker 3: to me.
- 31:21Speaker 1: So then what do you do?
- 31:23Speaker 6: I like like a cocktail like like a spicy margarita,
- 31:26Speaker 6: like a like a you know, cucumber martini kind of
- 31:28Speaker 6: a thing. Then I like to like have a really
- 31:31Speaker 6: nice dinner and then I'm like, oh my god, I'm
- 31:33Speaker 6: having fish. I'm like, you know, a charonay, or I'm
- 31:35Speaker 6: having a steak. I'd like a really good cap. Now
- 31:38Speaker 6: the night's continuing.
- 31:40Speaker 3: Now what happens.
- 31:40Speaker 5: Now I want like.
- 31:41Speaker 6: An espresso martini, so now I'm mixing all this, or
- 31:44Speaker 6: i want champagne.
- 31:45Speaker 5: But with that, I'm okay.
- 31:47Speaker 6: The next time, I'm a little weird, but I'm okay,
- 31:50Speaker 6: just like a little shaky. Or I wake up really
- 31:52Speaker 6: early and then like by three, I'm just I'm like
- 31:54Speaker 6: in my hungover, just.
- 31:55Speaker 5: Really tired because I only slept like five hours.
- 31:58Speaker 3: Oh.
- 31:58Speaker 2: I always hated that when I was like, wake up early,
- 32:03Speaker 2: exhausted and I'm like, is this a hangover?
- 32:05Speaker 6: Is it just because we wake up you have energy,
- 32:07Speaker 6: then you're exhausted, like three, That's what it is.
- 32:09Speaker 2: When I want to just tell you wake up ready
- 32:12Speaker 2: to party again.
- 32:13Speaker 3: You missed the night a few years ago, Yeah, I have.
- 32:17Speaker 2: Been a really fun night because you both talked about.
- 32:19Speaker 3: It was it was legendary so we were at Cachella
- 32:23Speaker 3: you I flew you back because you were going to
- 32:26Speaker 3: New York for something Watch that's watch, and Heather and
- 32:30Speaker 3: I were left behind for Neon Carnival, and I really.
- 32:34Speaker 5: Didn't know you very well so at all. So I
- 32:36Speaker 5: was like, so long.
- 32:37Speaker 6: So I actually you did my podcast, but I did
- 32:40Speaker 6: it at your office and then you were like.
- 32:42Speaker 5: What are you doing this weekend?
- 32:43Speaker 6: I'm like, I'm actually going to Palm Desert and You're like,
- 32:45Speaker 6: do you want to know?
- 32:46Speaker 5: This party starting? And I'm like, are you serious?
- 32:50Speaker 2: You know Hollywood me?
- 32:51Speaker 6: You kept asking, so I'm like, okay, I really have
- 32:54Speaker 6: the number, Like let's text, let's see.
- 32:57Speaker 5: So I have my sister to go with me.
- 32:59Speaker 6: You know, no, I don't think my husband was there
- 33:03Speaker 6: at all, but no, no, be included anyway.
- 33:06Speaker 5: So then that's the other thing that I've noticed, like
- 33:09Speaker 5: as I've gotten.
- 33:09Speaker 6: Older, like in my forties, early forties and thirties, it
- 33:14Speaker 6: was all about the couples, a couple of dinner.
- 33:16Speaker 5: What are you doing?
- 33:17Speaker 1: Where are the couple's going?
- 33:19Speaker 5: Now every time I'm like, you we do husbands or no? No, no, It's.
- 33:26Speaker 6: Like and then that's good because there's usually a couple
- 33:28Speaker 6: of single people and they're like, okay, good, I'm glad
- 33:29Speaker 6: you got Then we're like, then it's not weird for
- 33:31Speaker 6: so and so whatever.
- 33:33Speaker 3: Right, so we're down there.
- 33:36Speaker 5: You caught you she flakes or not.
- 33:39Speaker 6: She had to go to New York, right, But still
- 33:40Speaker 6: I'm like, and you say, it's still happening.
- 33:42Speaker 3: Yeah, if you asked her and I saw, I said,
- 33:44Speaker 3: go this is where I meet you. Of course you're invited.
- 33:47Speaker 3: I told your abody. Yeah, and I said, come to
- 33:49Speaker 3: the King, to the to the restaurant, the dinner, to
- 33:51Speaker 3: the dinner and we'll go from there.
- 33:54Speaker 6: And that's what I love so much when there's a
- 33:56Speaker 6: plan and itinerary. But I'm also I post traumatic stress
- 34:02Speaker 6: disorder from miss like missing a party, because back in
- 34:06Speaker 6: the day, in our day of when we were, there'd
- 34:08Speaker 6: be a party and they'd be like, follow us to
- 34:10Speaker 6: the party, and then if you miss them, you joy to.
- 34:13Speaker 3: Call who are you going to call? Beeper the people.
- 34:18Speaker 5: Last time that happened, we were in Napa.
- 34:19Speaker 6: We went to Napa with my friends who have a plane,
- 34:23Speaker 6: and we go to like Crank Valley Winery or something.
- 34:27Speaker 6: It's really nice winery, and I go, I want to
- 34:30Speaker 6: go tonight too, because we were just going to like
- 34:34Speaker 6: like these private wineris because they picked buy so much wine.
- 34:36Speaker 6: So we were just like go to these places, but
- 34:38Speaker 6: they weren't like serving us food, you know, so we're
- 34:40Speaker 6: like dying, like we got to bring a picnic basket.
- 34:43Speaker 6: So at that point, go to this thing and the
- 34:45Speaker 6: guy goes, I've got I have this fabulous party. It's
- 34:48Speaker 6: a mansion and they're having a party tonight, and that's
- 34:50Speaker 6: exactly what I want to want to like drink wine
- 34:52Speaker 6: in a mansion and look out at the vineyards. So
- 34:55Speaker 6: he's like, so we go, what's the address? And he's like,
- 34:59Speaker 6: you meet me at the place and then you'll follow
- 35:01Speaker 6: me up the hill. And my friend Danny goes, what
- 35:04Speaker 6: what's your cell phone number? He's like, no, just meet
- 35:07Speaker 6: me there. So we're in this like old fashioned limo,
- 35:10Speaker 6: like fucking like it's problem like Valley Girl from I
- 35:13Speaker 6: don't know why.
- 35:14Speaker 5: So it's hard to also see like where what's going on?
- 35:17Speaker 2: Right?
- 35:17Speaker 5: Right?
- 35:17Speaker 6: So we're like at this gas is you waiting for
- 35:19Speaker 6: the guy? And then like daddy, it's out and it
- 35:22Speaker 6: says something to guy and then the guy goes and
- 35:24Speaker 6: then we get in because the Limo guy so far
- 35:28Speaker 6: like what what's.
- 35:28Speaker 5: The trut It's like follow that up.
- 35:30Speaker 6: We totally did not find them, could never find the
- 35:33Speaker 6: guy didn't have a cell phone.
- 35:36Speaker 5: I was so heartbroken.
- 35:38Speaker 6: I'm like, but I have to act like cool about it,
- 35:40Speaker 6: because it's like they've they've treated us this whole weekend.
- 35:44Speaker 6: I was like, I was planning this like mansion party,
- 35:47Speaker 6: like and now we're just at like some rest some
- 35:50Speaker 6: average now was trying to do open table or call.
- 35:52Speaker 5: Now we're just at an average restaurant.
- 35:54Speaker 3: And I'm like depressed.
- 35:56Speaker 5: All right, you know, so what I love? So then
- 36:00Speaker 5: we have our dinner.
- 36:01Speaker 3: Right, Heather shows up, You show up, and I have
- 36:03Speaker 3: a dinner of like twenty people, yes, and we're just
- 36:06Speaker 3: banging shots and of.
- 36:07Speaker 6: Course I see Britney Spears x Jason Track where I'm like,
- 36:11Speaker 6: I've been wanting to get this scooped forever.
- 36:15Speaker 5: I guess kept on like moving on.
- 36:17Speaker 3: You move like five chairs and so you had them
- 36:19Speaker 3: in your sights and then and then you drilled them.
- 36:21Speaker 3: You drill Jason tray Ca.
- 36:23Speaker 5: I just swear to god there was a moment after
- 36:25Speaker 5: because then.
- 36:25Speaker 6: We go to the other party, but first to say
- 36:27Speaker 6: before we leave that party.
- 36:29Speaker 5: So my sister's with me, she's my.
- 36:32Speaker 6: Sister's great and and then they're like, okay, we're going
- 36:36Speaker 6: to the to the next place with all these cars
- 36:39Speaker 6: and you.
- 36:39Speaker 5: Know how like.
- 36:42Speaker 6: How like at there's like that that little kill like
- 36:45Speaker 6: kids play around at and so I see, like we
- 36:51Speaker 6: come out of the bathroom, we're like fuck, they already
- 36:53Speaker 6: are like like she's got she's got like the same
- 37:00Speaker 6: little skinny cult light legs and she got like wedges
- 37:03Speaker 6: and she's like that great hill and get in the car,
- 37:07Speaker 6: like I will leave you here. So we get in
- 37:09Speaker 6: the cars we have like the.
- 37:13Speaker 3: Police escort, pretty police cars.
- 37:16Speaker 5: How are we just getting police keeple today?
- 37:18Speaker 1: Like this is weird?
- 37:22Speaker 6: And then and then when we get there to the event,
- 37:25Speaker 6: to the event, they won't let your guy carry his
- 37:28Speaker 6: gun security.
- 37:29Speaker 4: Yes, right, he was carrying, yes, a pistol and they
- 37:33Speaker 4: would not let him. He was a police officer, yes,
- 37:37Speaker 4: and they just said no, no firearms. So he had
- 37:39Speaker 4: to leave that. Yeah, give how to give it to
- 37:43Speaker 4: another officer who took it. And then we went in.
- 37:46Speaker 5: And then then we went on.
- 37:47Speaker 6: Then we went to the Ferisheel together the cop andy,
- 37:50Speaker 6: and then I was asking him everything about his life
- 37:53Speaker 6: and how private security works when you're also a cop,
- 37:56Speaker 6: and like, what's the deal, And you know, I remember
- 37:59Speaker 6: everything about him. He had he had a girlfriend who
- 38:01Speaker 6: had a child, and you know, if we want a
- 38:03Speaker 6: children of his his own.
- 38:03Speaker 5: I mean, I just got the whole thing. So then
- 38:07Speaker 5: then we're now we're.
- 38:07Speaker 6: At the VIP section where the where the DJ party.
- 38:11Speaker 3: Is the floor, and then we're there and that's.
- 38:13Speaker 6: What I tried to get the scoop of what was
- 38:16Speaker 6: Jason and Britney's relationship really like and.
- 38:18Speaker 2: Were you successful in getting it out?
- 38:21Speaker 6: I got some and at one point sometimes I was
- 38:25Speaker 6: just about to get something, like I was with Sonia at.
- 38:28Speaker 1: Josh flaggs Oh, I'm so.
- 38:30Speaker 7: Generous, and she's like, you know, I introduced Ramona to
- 38:36Speaker 7: Doug and Ellis and now she thinks she's a big
- 38:38Speaker 7: real church and I go and the show and you know,
- 38:40Speaker 7: the other said I'm like yeah, I'm like, yeah.
- 38:43Speaker 6: They always take your guys and your contacts and tell
- 38:46Speaker 6: me about it.
- 38:46Speaker 5: And then all of a sudden she's just like I
- 38:49Speaker 5: can't talk to you and left. Yeah, she was like
- 38:52Speaker 5: all of a sudden like realized.
- 38:54Speaker 1: That you're Heather McDonald.
- 38:55Speaker 5: Yes, but I don't. I won't tell it unless I
- 38:58Speaker 5: say they can tell her, I'll just go. I mind.
- 39:00Speaker 5: But I was just like, what happened?
- 39:02Speaker 6: Basically he told me that, yeah, that he was working
- 39:07Speaker 6: with her, and then they became a couple, and then
- 39:09Speaker 6: William Morris made him stopp being Williamore's agent. Yeah, and
- 39:13Speaker 6: then he like managed her and then they were in Vegas.
- 39:16Speaker 6: And then I was like, and then what happened? What
- 39:18Speaker 6: he's saying, That's when he realized he was talking to
- 39:20Speaker 6: Heather McDonald. And he's like, there's so much to it.
- 39:25Speaker 6: There's so He's like, there's it's unbelievable. There's so much
- 39:28Speaker 6: to it.
- 39:29Speaker 1: You know, I'm going, what is it?
- 39:30Speaker 6: And then then at Google told four in the Morning
- 39:32Speaker 6: everything about it, all the sweet articles that were like
- 39:36Speaker 6: he she wanted to have another she wont to have
- 39:38Speaker 6: another baby. He didn't want kids, which is true. He
- 39:40Speaker 6: never had kids. He's so good looking.
- 39:42Speaker 1: I think he.
- 39:44Speaker 5: Is still in Vegas. Does he have a girlfriend or anything.
- 39:47Speaker 1: No, he refuses, He always not true.
- 39:49Speaker 2: He dates, No, but he always pre wreck.
- 39:53Speaker 3: I think he has a girl already dates now I
- 39:54Speaker 3: don't know what.
- 39:55Speaker 2: He always follows it up with, if you find a
- 39:58Speaker 2: dude that you want to date and there's that option
- 40:01Speaker 2: of marriage at the end of the road here, then
- 40:05Speaker 2: you should go do that, because I know who.
- 40:08Speaker 5: Would ever do that?
- 40:09Speaker 2: Why would you even say that he really doesn't want
- 40:12Speaker 2: to ever get married, which is a travesty because I
- 40:15Speaker 2: want him to pro create. He's such a good looking dude.
- 40:19Speaker 5: But I think that's a that's just an awful idea
- 40:22Speaker 5: to say that.
- 40:22Speaker 2: Off of that. I love that people when they sit down,
- 40:25Speaker 2: they feel like they can tell you everything, and then
- 40:27Speaker 2: they realize, oh shit, that's how they're fucking McDonald.
- 40:30Speaker 6: By the way, Oh we're gonna I had this girl
- 40:32Speaker 6: come up to my show in Miami and she came
- 40:34Speaker 6: up and she goes, I met you after a show.
- 40:38Speaker 5: I hung out with you in Naples.
- 40:40Speaker 6: I go, oh, my god, is your sister still sleeping
- 40:43Speaker 6: with your stepfather?
- 40:45Speaker 5: And she goes, how do you remember that? I go,
- 40:48Speaker 5: how do you think I fucking forever get?
- 40:50Speaker 2: I go.
- 40:50Speaker 6: Out of everybody that came up to me and has
- 40:52Speaker 6: told me a juicy story, that story has like stuck
- 40:54Speaker 6: with me.
- 40:55Speaker 5: It was crazy.
- 40:56Speaker 2: Do you remember most of the people that like, do
- 40:59Speaker 2: you have one of those memory is where if someone
- 41:00Speaker 2: rolls up on you, they're like, I was at a
- 41:02Speaker 2: meet and greet when you were in Tampa.
- 41:04Speaker 6: If they tell me something specific, like and I told
- 41:06Speaker 6: you that, you know, I'm a military wife or something like,
- 41:10Speaker 6: then I can remember if it was something specific, or
- 41:12Speaker 6: even if they go, I wrote you an email about
- 41:15Speaker 6: a murder in my town about this, and then I
- 41:17Speaker 6: will remember that, like that story, but just someone saying, Hi,
- 41:21Speaker 6: I met you.
- 41:21Speaker 5: Two years ago and we took a photo. No, not necessarily.
- 41:25Speaker 6: Sometimes people look familiar though, like I'm like, oh yeah,
- 41:27Speaker 6: wait yes, or like all you know, just like how
- 41:30Speaker 6: you recognize certain people that always comment or are your
- 41:35Speaker 6: biggest band, and then they'll you know, then you know,
- 41:38Speaker 6: they might come and go, I'm Dolly Doo or whatever.
- 41:41Speaker 5: You're like, oh my.
- 41:41Speaker 1: God, you know right. No, I totally an.
- 41:44Speaker 5: Awful Instagram handle.
- 41:47Speaker 2: Not real, not real.
- 41:49Speaker 6: They still stayed buried though the stepfather and her mother.
- 41:53Speaker 6: They stayed married, even though the sister had been sleeping
- 41:58Speaker 6: with the stepfather for a couple of years for money
- 42:01Speaker 6: and they were rich.
- 42:03Speaker 2: That seems like something I would watch on porn Hub,
- 42:05Speaker 2: like that storyline.
- 42:07Speaker 6: That's probably what I thought about it. It was weirdly hot.
- 42:09Speaker 6: She told me how it happened in the kitchen, how
- 42:11Speaker 6: it first started.
- 42:12Speaker 2: Total porn Hub hour in twenty minutes, that you watched
- 42:17Speaker 2: the whole thing.
- 42:19Speaker 6: And so she's just like, I cannot believe. And then
- 42:21Speaker 6: her friend was with her, like this gay guy was
- 42:23Speaker 6: her friend. And he's like, it was literally four years
- 42:27Speaker 6: ago that she told me the story.
- 42:28Speaker 5: She was the wedding still happened.
- 42:30Speaker 6: I go, it was your wedding that was around the corner, right,
- 42:33Speaker 6: and she's like yeah, and I'm like you're still married,
- 42:34Speaker 6: and she was just like blown away.
- 42:36Speaker 5: So yes, but then, but then there's other times where.
- 42:39Speaker 6: People will say, oh, I did have this other person
- 42:42Speaker 6: come up to me, what did you say?
- 42:44Speaker 5: She said, I was not a delight.
- 42:45Speaker 6: When she met me in Vegas ten years ago, and
- 42:50Speaker 6: she goes, you were just she goes, I was with Peter.
- 42:52Speaker 5: She goes, we met your husband there.
- 42:54Speaker 6: We were talking to your husband and then you came
- 42:56Speaker 6: up and I go, oh, yeah, that's I go, that
- 43:00Speaker 6: was when I did that performance, and you know, Chris
- 43:03Speaker 6: Knoth was there. She's like, yeah, that's all you cared
- 43:05Speaker 6: about was going on to dinner with Chris Noth never after,
- 43:09Speaker 6: and I'm.
- 43:09Speaker 5: Like, who wouldn't.
- 43:11Speaker 2: I don't know who that is.
- 43:13Speaker 6: He is big in sects the City Wait, which one
- 43:16Speaker 6: her main boyfriend?
- 43:17Speaker 1: Big oh big big.
- 43:19Speaker 5: He was at the event. I kept doing Samantha Jones
- 43:24Speaker 5: impressions on stage and.
- 43:26Speaker 6: It was like this, like I think they might have
- 43:28Speaker 6: paid these celebrities to be here, and then they paid
- 43:29Speaker 6: me to perform and it was for jewelry and so
- 43:33Speaker 6: there all we're all going to dinner after and another
- 43:36Speaker 6: like thing, just like I was scared. I'm like, if
- 43:37Speaker 6: we miss the fucking traveling to the restaurant, I'm never
- 43:42Speaker 6: going to know which restaurant it is. So I'm like,
- 43:44Speaker 6: so Peter's trugk to this couple and he's like, hey,
- 43:46Speaker 6: you know, being nice here, like we got to go.
- 43:50Speaker 5: And so that's what they witnessed.
- 43:52Speaker 6: But at that time, I was on Chelsea Lately, so
- 43:54Speaker 6: I wasn't like as connected and like you know, to
- 43:58Speaker 6: my podcast listeners, I was just someone on Chill Lately.
- 44:01Speaker 1: You were the best on China Lately.
- 44:02Speaker 6: But I didn't have like the the fan connection that
- 44:05Speaker 6: I have now with with like being you know, with
- 44:08Speaker 6: podcasting and people being able to write you and everything.
- 44:10Speaker 2: And now look at you, you're on. You're on, fucking
- 44:12Speaker 2: give them alla with Randall like you've made it all right.
- 44:16Speaker 3: With that quick right, yes, all right, we'll be back
- 44:19Speaker 3: in a second.
- 44:25Speaker 2: We're back with my most favorite human. Can I tell
- 44:27Speaker 2: you I could just listen to you tom Day.
- 44:30Speaker 1: It's so funny. You tell the best stories.
- 44:33Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 44:34Speaker 6: What I was walking around in Miami is when I
- 44:38Speaker 6: listened to your podcast because I wanted to, but also
- 44:41Speaker 6: because someone said that you guys were nice about me.
- 44:43Speaker 5: So then I'm usually like, that's the one I would
- 44:45Speaker 5: like to listen to.
- 44:46Speaker 1: Oh, Randal and I love you.
- 44:47Speaker 6: But when someone says, oh, someone talks shitty about you
- 44:50Speaker 6: or someone said something nice about you, I try to
- 44:53Speaker 6: just only listen to something somebody said nice about you.
- 44:55Speaker 2: Yeah, well, why would you listen to the other thing?
- 44:57Speaker 2: That's not productive?
- 44:58Speaker 5: I know it's hard not to.
- 44:59Speaker 2: Well, it was actually I was with Logan and Leo.
- 45:01Speaker 5: Yeah, I guess, so fun Yeah, they.
- 45:03Speaker 2: Hosted last week's podcast with me, and we were talking
- 45:06Speaker 2: about the Hustler and the House rights.
- 45:10Speaker 5: You guys still finding out so much information. I'll never stop.
- 45:14Speaker 6: And then people said, do you think that'll hurt you,
- 45:16Speaker 6: like with Bravo or you know, doing stuff with Bravo,
- 45:20Speaker 6: And I'm like, come on, I don't what am I
- 45:23Speaker 6: going to? I'm not on I mean, I was on
- 45:25Speaker 6: watch what Happens once.
- 45:26Speaker 2: Bravo's not paying your bills?
- 45:28Speaker 5: No, it's no.
- 45:29Speaker 6: And I'm like, and you know, and but Andy absolutely
- 45:31Speaker 6: did not watch it. He's like, oh, once I saw
- 45:34Speaker 6: that Danielle and Dana Wilke were on it, I just
- 45:38Speaker 6: you know. And I'm like, well, if you watched it,
- 45:40Speaker 6: you realize that was the first twelve minutes of it
- 45:42Speaker 6: to suck people in, and the rest was really about
- 45:45Speaker 6: the crimes that he committed.
- 45:47Speaker 5: And it was like really interesting.
- 45:49Speaker 6: And you know which is it got like huge ratings
- 45:52Speaker 6: because I just had Kimberly Archie will be on my
- 45:55Speaker 6: show Tuesday. So this comes out Wednesday, so it's up now.
- 45:59Speaker 6: And I had interviewed her like eight months ago when
- 46:01Speaker 6: the divorce was announced.
- 46:03Speaker 5: Wow, and she used to work for.
- 46:07Speaker 6: Tom You're already kind of like an Aaron Rokovich like
- 46:09Speaker 6: she'd work and like getting the research together.
- 46:12Speaker 2: Well, I well, how did that?
- 46:14Speaker 1: I wrote?
- 46:14Speaker 2: Because I watched this that came to be because Tom
- 46:18Speaker 2: was on her best friend's son's case.
- 46:21Speaker 1: Correct.
- 46:22Speaker 5: I think that she would have been working for him
- 46:24Speaker 5: before this happened.
- 46:25Speaker 6: And then she recommended to facilitate like the meeting and
- 46:29Speaker 6: get her friend to for him to represent the son
- 46:34Speaker 6: and their family and yeah, and then she was basically
- 46:39Speaker 6: saying like they just.
- 46:40Speaker 5: Didn't they didn't think that like the money was going
- 46:43Speaker 5: to run out. Of course not.
- 46:44Speaker 6: But you know, I was talking to people that have
- 46:46Speaker 6: worked with Erica Jane, like when she started to become
- 46:49Speaker 6: Erica Jane, right, and they all loved her.
- 46:53Speaker 5: She paid so.
- 46:54Speaker 6: Well, she was very very generous when it's not your
- 46:57Speaker 6: own money, and when, according to her, you know, if
- 47:01Speaker 6: she could spend whatever she wanted, you know, thanks baby,
- 47:03Speaker 6: and he would just give her money.
- 47:05Speaker 5: And you know, but.
- 47:07Speaker 2: I loved her line before this whole thing happened. But
- 47:10Speaker 2: I remember she made her first appearance on BH and
- 47:15Speaker 2: she was like, what can I say? Being poor sucks
- 47:17Speaker 2: and being rich is a lot better. And I was like,
- 47:20Speaker 2: this bitch is the goat.
- 47:22Speaker 5: Yes, I stand for again the.
- 47:24Speaker 1: Greatest of all times?
- 47:26Speaker 3: What it stands for? You know that?
- 47:28Speaker 1: Yeah, greatest the goat?
- 47:29Speaker 3: I thought it was like a goat, like goats are cool.
- 47:32Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I'm so outdated.
- 47:33Speaker 2: Like.
- 47:35Speaker 1: Your fifty is showing.
- 47:36Speaker 3: Yeah, that's okay.
- 47:38Speaker 2: But here's the no. I know.
- 47:40Speaker 1: It's also I'm trying to be like the cool kids,
- 47:43Speaker 1: and they say I.
- 47:43Speaker 3: Ask a few questions that I think are our fans.
- 47:46Speaker 2: Hold on, hold on, I want to ask one question.
- 47:48Speaker 2: This is the billion dollar question. Do you think Erica
- 47:51Speaker 2: Jane knew.
- 47:53Speaker 3: I do?
- 47:53Speaker 5: I do now I knew it not. I used to think.
- 47:57Speaker 6: You know, there's a very good chance that they have
- 48:00Speaker 6: an arrangement that she could spend whatever she wanted and
- 48:02Speaker 6: he could cheat on her and do whatever he wanted.
- 48:05Speaker 5: Yeah, all friends, we know that now.
- 48:07Speaker 6: Yeah, we know that came through that and I knew
- 48:09Speaker 6: that five years ago, like you know that. That's why
- 48:13Speaker 6: she didn't have to go to travel with him anymore.
- 48:15Speaker 6: Remember she's like, for ten years, I went everywhere with
- 48:18Speaker 6: mister Gerard, he went to Germany, and then now.
- 48:20Speaker 5: She's with the glam squad. Bring the entire glam squad.
- 48:23Speaker 5: I mean, the amount of money I can't even imagine.
- 48:26Speaker 6: So I think, but he's been doing stuff like this
- 48:30Speaker 6: shady since the Aaron Brockovich days.
- 48:32Speaker 2: Well because they this wasn't just I think most people
- 48:35Speaker 2: know about the plane crash victims that were basically robbed
- 48:38Speaker 2: of all of their money. Yeah, I mean, whether it
- 48:40Speaker 2: was one hundred and fifty thousand dollars that was being
- 48:43Speaker 2: won by a victim or millions he was snatching it.
- 48:48Speaker 3: Well.
- 48:48Speaker 6: Also, the other part is a lot of people don't
- 48:50Speaker 6: know is that a lot of these cases were settled
- 48:52Speaker 6: without court. So like, let's say, Lala, you were you know,
- 48:55Speaker 6: you felt it, and I'm like, Lala, I am gonna
- 48:59Speaker 6: do my best. I'm going to try to get you
- 49:01Speaker 6: five million, and then I actually get you twelve. And
- 49:05Speaker 6: then come back and I go, guess what, Lola, I
- 49:07Speaker 6: got you six, And you're like, great, you go off
- 49:10Speaker 6: your way, but I took an extra six plus the
- 49:13Speaker 6: forty percent off the six.
- 49:14Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 49:15Speaker 6: And I'm not saying, you know, I don't know. Those
- 49:18Speaker 6: cases are harder to figure out. But when you realize
- 49:21Speaker 6: how many cases were done just like over the phone,
- 49:24Speaker 6: and it's all between friends and judges and how entire
- 49:27Speaker 6: like how do you know? And then you're happy with
- 49:29Speaker 6: the check you got because you're just like this, you know,
- 49:31Speaker 6: little Bumpkin that had this horrible thing happened.
- 49:33Speaker 5: To me, So like, what do you know?
- 49:36Speaker 6: No, that documentary I think once he started to do
- 49:38Speaker 6: that and then we found she and all her research
- 49:41Speaker 6: that she came on today she found two checks on
- 49:43Speaker 6: the same day, one for nine million and another for
- 49:47Speaker 6: nine million. Now we don't know the case, but one
- 49:50Speaker 6: was for to Girardi Inclase, which is the law firm,
- 49:54Speaker 6: and then one.
- 49:54Speaker 2: Just to Tom what I know?
- 49:59Speaker 6: So he was a winning of eighteen million for a client.
- 50:02Speaker 6: It's supposed to go in these trust accounts of all this.
- 50:05Speaker 6: How did he get this company to like whatever write him, Oh, you.
- 50:09Speaker 5: Don't do it this way, Okay, it's Tom Girardi.
- 50:11Speaker 2: Well I think that's why people did it was because
- 50:13Speaker 2: he was Tom Girardi. He was on the cover of
- 50:15Speaker 2: every magazine. He was la law like the people. He
- 50:19Speaker 2: had these judges in the back of his pocket. Yeah,
- 50:22Speaker 2: it was dude, the documentary studying.
- 50:25Speaker 6: What you said, because you're like, look, I'm watching like
- 50:28Speaker 6: everybody else. Yeah, and if I see her and that
- 50:31Speaker 6: was okay, So I knew this fan who came to
- 50:34Speaker 6: see me too.
- 50:36Speaker 5: She was out here.
- 50:37Speaker 6: She knew somebody that was putting together the Kathy Hilton
- 50:41Speaker 6: viewing party. Okay, So and she's like, I'm gonna see
- 50:45Speaker 6: if I can get you invited.
- 50:45Speaker 5: I'm like, please get me invited.
- 50:47Speaker 6: Like then she was like, oh my god, my friend's distressed.
- 50:49Speaker 6: They're like full capacitators.
- 50:51Speaker 5: I can't ask. I don't even know this girl that well.
- 50:53Speaker 5: I know that's fine. Just give me the scoop, she said.
- 50:55Speaker 6: She all these people, all these pr people are calling
- 50:57Speaker 6: and saying, we want to make sure that if our
- 50:59Speaker 6: client goes, they're not in a compromise position to take
- 51:02Speaker 6: a photo with Erica.
- 51:04Speaker 2: What what?
- 51:05Speaker 5: But then Erica didn't come. Well, I don't blame her,
- 51:08Speaker 5: but you know how Hollywood is. The minute you step in.
- 51:12Speaker 2: Some shit.
- 51:14Speaker 6: And if anything has taught us anything, don't help your
- 51:18Speaker 6: friend out of that shit.
- 51:19Speaker 5: It's not quick sent leave them alone. You're so good,
- 51:22Speaker 5: all right, I'd like.
- 51:23Speaker 3: To pivot for a second.
- 51:24Speaker 4: Why you guys spilled tea? So just real quick, because
- 51:27Speaker 4: I just like to hear the backstory. Let's start when
- 51:30Speaker 4: you started, because you told me once before. I asked
- 51:32Speaker 4: you a questions because I'm obsessed. How did you become
- 51:35Speaker 4: the comedian and star that you became like the early
- 51:38Speaker 4: comedy days that Chelsea Handler, et cetera. Just a quick
- 51:41Speaker 4: snapshot because I'm very excited.
- 51:42Speaker 3: Snapshot about how you came up, because it is a
- 51:45Speaker 3: great story.
- 51:45Speaker 6: Quick snapshot is I was born and raised here, but
- 51:48Speaker 6: my parents were not in the entertainment business, but we
- 51:51Speaker 6: always knew kids that were doing it. I had an
- 51:53Speaker 6: agent as a kid, but I wasn't that good at
- 51:56Speaker 6: so when I was about private from high school, I
- 51:58Speaker 6: could imitate, like everybody this, well. My music teacher's like,
- 52:01Speaker 6: why are you going to USC You should just be
- 52:02Speaker 6: a stand up wow?
- 52:04Speaker 5: And I was like, how would strangers find me me funny?
- 52:06Speaker 6: So I go to SC and I have my fun
- 52:08Speaker 6: but I would like every time I saw someone with
- 52:10Speaker 6: the pager, I get really jealous because that meant they
- 52:12Speaker 6: had an agent, not that.
- 52:15Speaker 5: And I was like, I really want to be doing this.
- 52:18Speaker 5: I know I'm not doing what I was supposed to
- 52:19Speaker 5: be doing.
- 52:20Speaker 6: So I get this horrible job out of school just
- 52:21Speaker 6: so I could live with my own and be in
- 52:23Speaker 6: front when job assistant buyer Robinson's may this is amazing,
- 52:26Speaker 6: oh wow. And it was so horrible and I was
- 52:28Speaker 6: so bad at it. But in the middle of it,
- 52:32Speaker 6: my friend throws down a learning Annex magazine how to
- 52:35Speaker 6: be a stand up comic, and she goes, you better
- 52:36Speaker 6: fucking do this. So I take my red toyo Celica
- 52:39Speaker 6: and I go to Eradison in Santa Monica, and I
- 52:44Speaker 6: learned like, you just have to set up the bit
- 52:46Speaker 6: so that a stranger knows what you're talking about, right,
- 52:48Speaker 6: And it was like clicked, and then the woman was like,
- 52:50Speaker 6: take this class and you could have this little show
- 52:53Speaker 6: at the end.
- 52:53Speaker 5: So I'm like, oh my god.
- 52:54Speaker 6: Everybody always been telling me I should do it, so
- 52:57Speaker 6: I'm like, I know, I'll like get plenty.
- 52:58Speaker 5: Of people to come.
- 52:59Speaker 6: So as I'm studying for the now, I've done it once,
- 53:02Speaker 6: but I'm still at the horrible job and I'm starting
- 53:04Speaker 6: to like do it more and like start to like
- 53:06Speaker 6: look for.
- 53:06Speaker 5: Acting classes and stuff.
- 53:08Speaker 6: And then the person at the place fires me and
- 53:12Speaker 6: is like, you know.
- 53:13Speaker 5: The hr person goes, hey, how you do it? You
- 53:17Speaker 5: want to meet like maybe five on Friday.
- 53:19Speaker 6: I'm like, well that it doesn't sound good, and then
- 53:21Speaker 6: start the elevator and I was like hi, and she's
- 53:24Speaker 6: like like when you have that no eye contact, you
- 53:26Speaker 6: just know like the only other time it happened was
- 53:28Speaker 6: when I knew I didn't make cheerleading. I didn't make
- 53:31Speaker 6: varsity cheerleading because that the head lady's daughter wouldn't talk.
- 53:34Speaker 5: To me at a party. Oh that I knew.
- 53:37Speaker 6: I knew, She's like yeah. So then so then I
- 53:43Speaker 6: got fired and I just started doing stand up and
- 53:46Speaker 6: I just started doing groundlings. And then I did real
- 53:50Speaker 6: estate with my parents to pay for everything, and they
- 53:52Speaker 6: would like go over lines with me, and they always
- 53:55Speaker 6: were so supportive of what I could do. And then
- 53:57Speaker 6: my friends got jobs like at the Growling so I'd
- 53:59Speaker 6: sell them houses so I could, like I was like
- 54:02Speaker 6: the realtor of the prime Yeah, and so they but
- 54:05Speaker 6: you know, so it's good. So like instead of being
- 54:07Speaker 6: jealous of your friend getting a sitcom, I was like,
- 54:09Speaker 6: would you like to buy a house?
- 54:10Speaker 5: Nice?
- 54:13Speaker 3: Okay? That what happened. Then, still making no money in comedy.
- 54:17Speaker 6: Yet no many in comedy, Like I had to ask
- 54:20Speaker 6: big people to come to the show. I had paid
- 54:22Speaker 6: for eight people to come to the show from an
- 54:24Speaker 6: agency I want.
- 54:26Speaker 5: I don't know if his paradigm was something like that.
- 54:28Speaker 6: And and right before I went on, this cute guy
- 54:33Speaker 6: that I was friends with. He went on and just
- 54:35Speaker 6: like won them like ever, you know, he did well.
- 54:38Speaker 6: And then I go on and they're like, come here,
- 54:39Speaker 6: and the whole time during my set, they're like signing him.
- 54:44Speaker 6: Oh and I had to pay sixty four dollars for
- 54:46Speaker 6: them to come eight people.
- 54:48Speaker 5: So those are the kind of things.
- 54:49Speaker 6: Where I'm like, I'm sorry, Like I'm so happy that
- 54:52Speaker 6: people can put their content, make their own money and
- 54:55Speaker 6: not be so dependent. I mean, you had to have
- 54:57Speaker 6: an agent. You had to be in SAG and I
- 55:00Speaker 6: it wasn't in sag. You needed to be in sack
- 55:02Speaker 6: to get an agent. You need an agent to be
- 55:03Speaker 6: in sack. So I went to this acting class that
- 55:06Speaker 6: I go, I know, there must be a way to
- 55:08Speaker 6: get a sad car. It's gotta be someone I can pay.
- 55:11Speaker 6: He goes, there is this guy named Wayne, and then Wayne,
- 55:15Speaker 6: I'd pay Wayne.
- 55:15Speaker 5: Three hundred dollars. I had no idea.
- 55:18Speaker 6: I just mailed three hundred dollars to this guy Wayne,
- 55:20Speaker 6: and then he sent me three things that made me
- 55:22Speaker 6: look like I had like a line on a beer commercial.
- 55:24Speaker 3: Like vouchers, vouchers, oh my god.
- 55:26Speaker 5: And then I paid the eleven fifty to join.
- 55:28Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 55:29Speaker 5: Yes, wow. I don't even know how many years it
- 55:33Speaker 5: would have been. I probably would have.
- 55:34Speaker 6: I would have been able to join once I got
- 55:35Speaker 6: on Keenan. So then Keenan I Ullyams had a late
- 55:37Speaker 6: night talk show.
- 55:38Speaker 3: And how did you get to that? Because I know
- 55:39Speaker 3: you did. You wrote on that.
- 55:41Speaker 6: My manager goes, would you consider writing on a show
- 55:44Speaker 6: at this point? And I'm like, well, I you know,
- 55:47Speaker 6: I thought it would be like a sitcom star but
- 55:49Speaker 6: maybe let me see I've seen I've seen it, let
- 55:52Speaker 6: me watch it more.
- 55:53Speaker 5: And it was Memorial Day weekend.
- 55:54Speaker 6: I had to write a whole like package of jokes
- 55:58Speaker 6: and sketches and everything and his point of view, and
- 56:02Speaker 6: I remember I missed all these really good parties. But
- 56:04Speaker 6: I was like, I got to do it. So I
- 56:05Speaker 6: sent it in and I got it, and you know,
- 56:08Speaker 6: and it was your first real first job. And I
- 56:11Speaker 6: got it because he said, I want I've got you know,
- 56:14Speaker 6: six white guys, six black guys, one black woman. I
- 56:18Speaker 6: would like to get one white woman's point of view
- 56:20Speaker 6: in here.
- 56:21Speaker 3: Wow.
- 56:22Speaker 5: So that was like just a great experience.
- 56:24Speaker 3: How long do you do that?
- 56:25Speaker 5: I got fired from that though, because wait.
- 56:26Speaker 3: How long did you do it for before you got fired.
- 56:29Speaker 6: Well, like from like from Memorial or labor not from
- 56:32Speaker 6: Labor day. No, it didn't last something from Labor Day
- 56:34Speaker 6: to like March or May. That's something like that, not
- 56:37Speaker 6: that long. And then it got canceled in the summer.
- 56:39Speaker 3: Okay, So why'd you get fired?
- 56:40Speaker 6: Because they were supposed to tell you after thirteen weeks
- 56:44Speaker 6: that they were going to pick you up. And he
- 56:46Speaker 6: was very big on fun letting people go and firing people.
- 56:49Speaker 6: But I thought, well, even if I get fired, I
- 56:50Speaker 6: get paid for thirteen weeks, that's amazing.
- 56:52Speaker 5: They'll give me. I have a credit card debt. After
- 56:55Speaker 5: I got there, I guess they said enough.
- 56:56Speaker 6: Keenan of firing people, you know, like stop it, you
- 57:00Speaker 6: can't need this anymore.
- 57:01Speaker 2: Iire one more.
- 57:02Speaker 6: No.
- 57:02Speaker 5: So, but I didn't know if I was going to
- 57:04Speaker 5: get the next thirteen week pickup. And you're supposed to
- 57:06Speaker 5: know it eleven weeks.
- 57:07Speaker 6: So eleven weeks came and twelve on the twelfth week,
- 57:10Speaker 6: and I still didn't know. I got a call from
- 57:12Speaker 6: my manager saying, I have like two auditions for you know,
- 57:16Speaker 6: comedy pilots for you, and I go.
- 57:19Speaker 5: You know, I've never called in sick.
- 57:20Speaker 6: I'm going to call in sick and go on these auditions.
- 57:22Speaker 6: Oh yes, And I went and I called in sick
- 57:28Speaker 6: and just call like the assistant writer's assistant. And then
- 57:33Speaker 6: and then I was at the comedy store doing stand
- 57:35Speaker 6: up that night and I had to check my messages
- 57:37Speaker 6: or whatever, and I remember I was like calling on
- 57:38Speaker 6: my little cell phone and they're like, yeah, call call
- 57:42Speaker 6: you know. Oh, and that you always kept you really late,
- 57:44Speaker 6: like ten at night. So I called and there the
- 57:46Speaker 6: guy's like, yeah, Keiden says, you don't need to come
- 57:48Speaker 6: back ever.
- 57:49Speaker 5: And I was like, oh my god. I was like
- 57:52Speaker 5: so bummed.
- 57:53Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 57:53Speaker 6: So then I like came back and I was like hi,
- 57:56Speaker 6: and I like say goodbye everybody. And then I found
- 57:58Speaker 6: out that this one guy comedian, he's not a comedian
- 58:02Speaker 6: anymore because.
- 58:03Speaker 1: He writes people out.
- 58:04Speaker 5: Yeah, he said.
- 58:05Speaker 6: Kenan goes where's Heather and someone's like she's sick, and
- 58:10Speaker 6: then he goes, you know, it's pilot season, Keenan.
- 58:13Speaker 5: Oh, And he.
- 58:16Speaker 6: Knew I wanted to be an actress because I came
- 58:18Speaker 6: for the Crownings and I like.
- 58:19Speaker 5: Wanted to be in sketchy That sucks. Yeah, that's nice
- 58:24Speaker 5: at all, and so.
- 58:25Speaker 3: That's not helping your friends.
- 58:26Speaker 6: I was bummed about that because even had I stayed,
- 58:29Speaker 6: the show would have eventually ended. Then I would have
- 58:31Speaker 6: gotten all that money from all the rereunts that ran
- 58:34Speaker 6: all summer set, and then all those people wrote Scream one,
- 58:39Speaker 6: and I would have written on.
- 58:40Speaker 4: Scream WHOA, so I was a super monster success.
- 58:44Speaker 6: So they wrote on Scream one and Scream two, And
- 58:47Speaker 6: then they broke up with the Weinstein brothers and they
- 58:49Speaker 6: were going to do like another movie about like alien,
- 58:53Speaker 6: like doing a parody of all the alien movies and
- 58:55Speaker 6: my and he goes, we need like we need somebody.
- 58:58Speaker 6: Maybe he brought me up, but he always noticed that
- 59:01Speaker 6: all the alien movies had a single mom in it,
- 59:04Speaker 6: like from et whatever. So he's like, we need to
- 59:06Speaker 6: like get a woman in here to kind of write
- 59:09Speaker 6: back parts those parts. So then my friend called me
- 59:13Speaker 6: in My baby was only two weeks old, Drake, and
- 59:16Speaker 6: he's like, do you want to work on this movie?
- 59:18Speaker 5: And I was like, yeah, you know, okay, So then I,
- 59:22Speaker 5: you know, would do it. And then all of a sudden,
- 59:26Speaker 5: one day they call them.
- 59:27Speaker 6: They're like, yeah, there was all these guys working on it,
- 59:28Speaker 6: and they're like, yeah, Keenan fired like four people because they.
- 59:32Speaker 5: Were coming up with anything good.
- 59:35Speaker 6: And he was like, Heather has a fucking baby and
- 59:38Speaker 6: she's bringing all these like funny ideas and stuff.
- 59:40Speaker 5: So then I got to stay for that.
- 59:42Speaker 3: Oh wow.
- 59:42Speaker 5: And then they and then.
- 59:45Speaker 6: They see that the people that started to take over
- 59:48Speaker 6: the screen franchise, they the next Scream or whatever they
- 59:52Speaker 6: called it.
- 59:52Speaker 5: Or scary movie. Sorry, scarcary movie, not Scream. It was
- 59:55Speaker 5: scary movie parodies.
- 59:56Speaker 6: The next Scary Movie thing was going to be all
- 59:59Speaker 6: about the alien movies because it was that Signs movie
- 1:00:02Speaker 6: that was so big.
- 1:00:04Speaker 5: So then they're like.
- 1:00:04Speaker 6: We're not even going to do this because it's too
- 1:00:06Speaker 6: similar to what they're doing. But they had already sold
- 1:00:08Speaker 6: the idea of white Chicks, so like we're gonna start
- 1:00:11Speaker 6: writing white Chicks, and I was like, well, don't you
- 1:00:13Speaker 6: think you need one white chick to write on it?
- 1:00:16Speaker 5: And so then I wrote with them on white checks.
- 1:00:18Speaker 5: They already had like the story idea, but then I.
- 1:00:20Speaker 6: Helped with all the characters, and then they're like, we're
- 1:00:23Speaker 6: going to try to get you in on this. And
- 1:00:26Speaker 6: then I remember they called me and they're like oh,
- 1:00:28Speaker 6: we have to hire so many Canadian people, but we
- 1:00:31Speaker 6: really want you to play the part that you wrote
- 1:00:33Speaker 6: because I wrote it about this annoying girl that worked on.
- 1:00:36Speaker 5: On Third Street is a store, like that's why I came.
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: Up with it.
- 1:00:40Speaker 6: And then they're like, and I remember literally it was like,
- 1:00:44Speaker 6: can you get on you know, can you get to
- 1:00:46Speaker 6: lax in like three hours?
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: Wow?
- 1:00:48Speaker 6: Because you have to be there tomorrow, and we just
- 1:00:51Speaker 6: whatever got the okay. So then I got together like
- 1:00:54Speaker 6: once or twice, I think to do that part.
- 1:00:58Speaker 5: Yeah, it was great.
- 1:00:58Speaker 6: And then I worked on a couple of other things
- 1:01:00Speaker 6: with them too. They'd dance Flick. I had a small
- 1:01:02Speaker 6: part in that, and and then and then I got
- 1:01:08Speaker 6: so then I was married and I wasn't doing any
- 1:01:10Speaker 6: stand up, but I was like getting parts and I
- 1:01:13Speaker 6: was like, you know, sometimes i'd have health insurance, sometimes
- 1:01:15Speaker 6: I wouldn't the worst, and then so you're get and
- 1:01:19Speaker 6: then and then I started watching Last Comic Standing and
- 1:01:21Speaker 6: it made me really miss stand up and I was like,
- 1:01:25Speaker 6: I think I should start doing this, you know, right
- 1:01:27Speaker 6: about being a.
- 1:01:27Speaker 5: Mom and stuff like that.
- 1:01:29Speaker 6: And then like the next day, this girl called me
- 1:01:32Speaker 6: and she would always put all these girls shows together,
- 1:01:35Speaker 6: female comic shows, and she was I just ran into
- 1:01:37Speaker 6: somebody and I can't believe you quit the stand up.
- 1:01:39Speaker 5: You were like the best one. I'm like, well, I
- 1:01:40Speaker 5: didn't quit it. She's like, well, it's been like seven years.
- 1:01:43Speaker 6: And I go, all right, just give me a date,
- 1:01:45Speaker 6: give me a deadline, and she goes, okay, August whatever,
- 1:01:48Speaker 6: I'm doing the improv.
- 1:01:49Speaker 5: It's a pretty fun women.
- 1:01:50Speaker 6: Chelsea, Natasha Lazeiro, Tig, Sarah Kalona, all these girls would
- 1:01:54Speaker 6: do these shows. And so I just practiced my stuff
- 1:01:58Speaker 6: and I did it and then like once I was
- 1:02:00Speaker 6: back into it, then I felt great. And then that
- 1:02:03Speaker 6: after that August come around, I was doing it.
- 1:02:06Speaker 5: I heard that Chelsea was then going to start her show.
- 1:02:09Speaker 6: And my friend was like, I don't know if I
- 1:02:11Speaker 6: want to work on a full time like writing gig,
- 1:02:14Speaker 6: and I'm like, well I do, because if I don't.
- 1:02:16Speaker 5: Get back in this game by name. Yeah.
- 1:02:20Speaker 6: So I wrote her, emailed her or texted her or
- 1:02:24Speaker 6: something and I was like, can I, you know, try
- 1:02:26Speaker 6: to write some stuff and she's like yeah, you know.
- 1:02:28Speaker 6: So then I met the producer. She only could hire
- 1:02:31Speaker 6: like four people. Wow, So she picked me and then yeah,
- 1:02:34Speaker 6: and then I thought, well, this will look I'll get
- 1:02:36Speaker 6: to nanny. I felt so guilty, but I'll get a
- 1:02:38Speaker 6: nanny for the summer. But when I was worried about
- 1:02:41Speaker 6: doing it, I'm like, my boys are only like one
- 1:02:43Speaker 6: and four something.
- 1:02:45Speaker 5: And my friend goes, are you finding kidding me?
- 1:02:48Speaker 6: In ten years, you're going to come home and neither
- 1:02:49Speaker 6: of those boys are going to even look up from
- 1:02:51Speaker 6: their xbox or whatever the thing was at the time,
- 1:02:53Speaker 6: and you're gonna say, why the fuck didn't I take
- 1:02:55Speaker 6: that joby? And I tell that story all the time
- 1:02:57Speaker 6: because they are fine. They don't come running to the
- 1:03:01Speaker 6: door when I come home.
- 1:03:03Speaker 5: They're fine.
- 1:03:04Speaker 6: And it's like people need to know that, like, yes, baby,
- 1:03:08Speaker 6: years are precious years.
- 1:03:10Speaker 5: But now that I have this career and I could
- 1:03:12Speaker 5: be around.
- 1:03:13Speaker 6: So much more of these last five years the more
- 1:03:15Speaker 6: important years in my opinion, the.
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: Time the time where where they want to.
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: Smell because I feel important.
- 1:03:23Speaker 5: You will feel guilty.
- 1:03:24Speaker 6: You will feel guilty, You will miss stup. And sometimes
- 1:03:26Speaker 6: when I look at like pictures of like it's like
- 1:03:30Speaker 6: they're there, They're fine. It's like it's there to you.
- 1:03:34Speaker 4: They also look up to you as a strong woman
- 1:03:36Speaker 4: who's running a big career, and that's a pretty cool
- 1:03:39Speaker 4: thing as a kid to say, all my mom's on TV,
- 1:03:42Speaker 4: or my mom writes on shows or all these different things.
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: That's pretty cool too. Yeah.
- 1:03:45Speaker 6: I mean I think it's they have a good perspective
- 1:03:48Speaker 6: of things, you know, and we have like a lot
- 1:03:49Speaker 6: of fun.
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: And how many years on Chelsea?
- 1:03:51Speaker 5: We did seven? Like seven and a half?
- 1:03:54Speaker 3: Yeah, how many? How many episodes total over there?
- 1:03:57Speaker 5: So many because we only got like we only got.
- 1:04:01Speaker 6: Two weeks off at Christmas, two weeks after the summer,
- 1:04:04Speaker 6: and one week at Easter, five weeks off. Only got
- 1:04:07Speaker 6: five weeks off a year, yeah, like five. Yeah, it
- 1:04:12Speaker 6: was crazy. We never had any time off and we
- 1:04:14Speaker 6: always had to like you know but leading up to
- 1:04:17Speaker 6: Christmas we had to do a New Year's Eve show
- 1:04:19Speaker 6: and a Christmas Eve show and all this other stuff.
- 1:04:21Speaker 6: So it was a lot, but it was really fun.
- 1:04:24Speaker 6: It was super fun, and I'm still friends with so
- 1:04:26Speaker 6: many the people.
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: And it's like watching you on that.
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I was so intimidated by you because you guys
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: would show people on the show and then kind of
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: like make fun of them, and I was like, I
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: never want to be made fun of by anybody like
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: that because you are so funny and such a savage.
- 1:04:45Speaker 5: That was the other thing. We could never tweet our jokes.
- 1:04:47Speaker 6: Oh, they'd be like the head writer would be like
- 1:04:50Speaker 6: a news thing would break and all the writers would
- 1:04:53Speaker 6: have Twitter and want to write something funny, and he'd
- 1:04:55Speaker 6: be like, what the fuck We're going to talk about
- 1:04:57Speaker 6: this tomorrow.
- 1:04:58Speaker 5: And now you just gave the best joke to you yourself.
- 1:05:00Speaker 6: You can just save that for Chelsea or for somebody
- 1:05:03Speaker 6: else that might around table.
- 1:05:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: Right, So you couldn't tweet anything. Any of your jokes
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: had to be kept for the show. But I kind
- 1:05:10Speaker 2: of I understood that.
- 1:05:12Speaker 6: I was like, I kind of get that, like, because
- 1:05:14Speaker 6: you know, we have this great thing of being able
- 1:05:17Speaker 6: to do it like that day. You know, we would
- 1:05:18Speaker 6: do stuff and then you know at the end of
- 1:05:20Speaker 6: the day, the end of that we could see it
- 1:05:22Speaker 6: on Saturday Live.
- 1:05:23Speaker 5: Right, we could do it like that day.
- 1:05:24Speaker 6: So once they said that, I was like, yeah, but
- 1:05:27Speaker 6: you know, once you're wright, you're a writer on the show,
- 1:05:29Speaker 6: you really have to commit to being a writer on
- 1:05:31Speaker 6: the show, right. And then it was kind of a
- 1:05:32Speaker 6: bumber because then there were other people that would be
- 1:05:35Speaker 6: featured just as much on the show, but they weren't
- 1:05:37Speaker 6: staff writers, and sure they weren't making the money every week,
- 1:05:41Speaker 6: but then they would be getting all these opportunities, and
- 1:05:44Speaker 6: then opportunities would come to us, but we couldn't take us. Yeah,
- 1:05:48Speaker 6: but I understand that, Like I didn't feel me. I
- 1:05:50Speaker 6: don't think that's mean when you got you can't like
- 1:05:52Speaker 6: let every person go, oh, you have an audition for
- 1:05:54Speaker 6: a three liner?
- 1:05:56Speaker 5: Okay, bye, you can't do that, Like, you can't let
- 1:05:58Speaker 5: people do that.
- 1:05:59Speaker 6: So then it was that part I think was sort
- 1:06:01Speaker 6: of difficult in having the writers be featured so much.
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: Was that life changing when you did.
- 1:06:09Speaker 5: Lately?
- 1:06:10Speaker 6: Yeah, definitely, that like started off because then I was
- 1:06:12Speaker 6: like I always wanted to write a book, and now
- 1:06:14Speaker 6: I'm like, well, now I can write a book.
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: By the way, Yeah, your prediction was fucking wrong.
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: Oh here we go.
- 1:06:21Speaker 5: That you'd get it second week national bestseller. That some
- 1:06:26Speaker 5: means you sold a lot.
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: No, I definitely, my numbers were great, but you you
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: can't tell the future.
- 1:06:32Speaker 5: Everyone loved that.
- 1:06:33Speaker 6: By the way, I got I got a great feed
- 1:06:36Speaker 6: writing that they really really liked it.
- 1:06:37Speaker 5: I knew they would.
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: Well, that's good.
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: I have two last questions, because yeah, first question, your
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: worst stand up moment in history that you can recall
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: in your career, Like a moment that just one that
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: just was mortifying for you for any reason. It could
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: have been ten, could have been a heckler, It could
- 1:06:54Speaker 3: have been just you sucked or you were hung over.
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: Just a moment you can remember that you don't want
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: to remember.
- 1:07:01Speaker 5: God, I mean no, they're all just but they're all
- 1:07:06Speaker 5: like not that bad.
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: Worse war like anything, worse venue, worst audience, worse anything,
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: just something.
- 1:07:13Speaker 6: That sometimes what happens is I'd be doing something. This
- 1:07:18Speaker 6: is why I really don't like performing in LA and
- 1:07:20Speaker 6: I like just go to a city where I don't
- 1:07:21Speaker 6: know anybody, but now I know so many people. In
- 1:07:23Speaker 6: every city, I still have somebody like a college friend
- 1:07:25Speaker 6: or something.
- 1:07:26Speaker 5: Is like I'll start.
- 1:07:27Speaker 6: Doing a bit and talking about like whatever, joking about
- 1:07:32Speaker 6: my husband, like murdering my husband or whatever, and then
- 1:07:34Speaker 6: I'm like, oh my god, my friend is here. My
- 1:07:37Speaker 6: husband just fucking died, like what, like you know, and
- 1:07:40Speaker 6: then I like gets in my head a little bit
- 1:07:42Speaker 6: or like I remember this one. Birl had a really
- 1:07:44Speaker 6: back in the.
- 1:07:45Speaker 5: Like those days when I was always doing the improv.
- 1:07:47Speaker 5: She had a really funny herpes.
- 1:07:49Speaker 6: Joke, and and then all of a sudden, I would realize,
- 1:07:53Speaker 6: oh my god, she's on the bill, and I have
- 1:07:55Speaker 6: two friends with herpes in the audience. Like I normally
- 1:07:58Speaker 6: would not invite them to any show because I thought
- 1:08:00Speaker 6: it would hurt their feelings. But then I looked down
- 1:08:02Speaker 6: and saw they were laughing the most, and I was like,
- 1:08:05Speaker 6: they can't really worry about that, but like that little
- 1:08:07Speaker 6: bit of like you know, Code Pendant, like Catholic Hill,
- 1:08:10Speaker 6: like I didn't. I never want someone to be like hurt.
- 1:08:14Speaker 3: I get that you ever go to a theater back
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: in the day when you first start, because I know
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: you sell out everywhere because I always track you, Like
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: in cities.
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: I'm like, oh my in that city, I want to
- 1:08:22Speaker 4: go see the show. Here in Miami, I'm oh fuck,
- 1:08:24Speaker 4: I want to see the show. But when you were
- 1:08:26Speaker 4: just coming up, did you ever go to a room
- 1:08:28Speaker 4: where it was like one person, two people?
- 1:08:30Speaker 6: Oh yeah, no, not that little, but there'd be some
- 1:08:33Speaker 6: that were little, and it was hard because usually like
- 1:08:35Speaker 6: a Bringer show, just like it'd.
- 1:08:37Speaker 5: Be hard where you have to bring people.
- 1:08:39Speaker 6: Because you still have it you don't want everyone going
- 1:08:43Speaker 6: up there and being like, oh, we could be doing
- 1:08:45Speaker 6: this in my living room, because then it makes the
- 1:08:47Speaker 6: people that actually paid in part I feel like a dick.
- 1:08:50Speaker 6: So like I always am like this is great, like
- 1:08:52Speaker 6: oh my god, let's just like get intimate whatever, But
- 1:08:55Speaker 6: now I'm just kind of like who cares.
- 1:08:56Speaker 5: I mean, after COVID, I care a lot less about
- 1:08:59Speaker 5: stuff like that.
- 1:09:00Speaker 3: We say the same thing. It's like after COVID, everything
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: at your perspective of appreciation goes up. At least for me,
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: like ten thousand.
- 1:09:06Speaker 6: Well, I would just like stress so much about like
- 1:09:08Speaker 6: ticket sales and do you have to do a Facebook ad?
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: And da da da da da.
- 1:09:11Speaker 5: And now I'm like, okay, I am.
- 1:09:12Speaker 6: Going to still go on and do these shows, Heather Dalda,
- 1:09:16Speaker 6: I'm going to big cities and you know, but I
- 1:09:18Speaker 6: didn't want to even I didn't want to jump to
- 1:09:20Speaker 6: like a bigger venue because I was like, I just
- 1:09:23Speaker 6: want them.
- 1:09:25Speaker 5: I wanted to be sold out.
- 1:09:26Speaker 6: I wanted to do not't worry about it, like I
- 1:09:27Speaker 6: don't totally and like I like this size and I
- 1:09:30Speaker 6: like how it works and like maybe next time. But
- 1:09:34Speaker 6: so yeah, because the whole point is like I like
- 1:09:36Speaker 6: to go to do the craft.
- 1:09:38Speaker 5: It's not really about the money on the.
- 1:09:40Speaker 6: Rush for me, because so few people do what I do,
- 1:09:44Speaker 6: you know, that can go and stand for an hour,
- 1:09:46Speaker 6: And I don't ever want because I stopped doing it
- 1:09:48Speaker 6: for those seven years when I was like having babies
- 1:09:50Speaker 6: and but I was never like on the road or anything.
- 1:09:53Speaker 6: And so now that I've established like a headlining thing
- 1:09:55Speaker 6: in the years after Chelsea and stuff, I just don't
- 1:09:58Speaker 6: ever want to get Let it goes so long. It's
- 1:10:01Speaker 6: fine when it's a pandemic. It was kind of great, right.
- 1:10:04Speaker 6: I'd be like, oh my god, if they just told
- 1:10:06Speaker 6: me that the club was on fire last night, and
- 1:10:09Speaker 6: I'd be kind of just because I didn't want to
- 1:10:11Speaker 6: like packs, I'm laying on my bed and I see
- 1:10:12Speaker 6: too because I don't want to pack. But so it
- 1:10:15Speaker 6: was kind of like, you know, of course I didn't like,
- 1:10:18Speaker 6: you know, I felt bad for people, but at the
- 1:10:19Speaker 6: same time it was kind of a nice break. And
- 1:10:21Speaker 6: so now when I'm starting up again, I have to
- 1:10:23Speaker 6: be like, don't become a bitch, don't get crazy.
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: Be exciting.
- 1:10:27Speaker 6: Yeah, because like if I ever could plain Peter's like,
- 1:10:30Speaker 6: well you said, so I'm like, okay, so now I
- 1:10:32Speaker 6: can't even talk to anybody about it because I agreed
- 1:10:34Speaker 6: to do this.
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: Three questions. Last three questions. Biggest venue you ever performed then,
- 1:10:39Speaker 3: like the most perstitous.
- 1:10:41Speaker 6: Or biggest some arena and I opened for Chelsea and
- 1:10:44Speaker 6: it was like ten thousand wow, and then to the
- 1:10:48Speaker 6: people yes, And then for my own shows, I think
- 1:10:51Speaker 6: the most I've done is like maybe in like maybe
- 1:10:56Speaker 6: like a six hundred rates.
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: Yeah that's for comedy, that's yeah, okay. Second question, the
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: person that you were the biggest star, biggest, most famous
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: person that came to a show that you were shocked
- 1:11:09Speaker 3: came to your show? Do you know what I'm saying?
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: Like not somebody, not a celebrity that you know now
- 1:11:13Speaker 3: and that you're friends with, but just you were just
- 1:11:15Speaker 3: shocked they showed up or somebody told you they were
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: showing up day of and you had no idea. Is
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: there is there any moment like that?
- 1:11:22Speaker 6: God, it might have to come back to that one,
- 1:11:24Speaker 6: because I know that there there were a lot though during.
- 1:11:26Speaker 5: That time because they because Chelsea was on and stuff,
- 1:11:30Speaker 5: and then but now it's.
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: Just like now, yeah, I've.
- 1:11:35Speaker 6: Never been I've never really been starstruck by anybody because
- 1:11:38Speaker 6: working on Chelsea you really saw like everybody. So when
- 1:11:40Speaker 6: people are always like, oh, who was it, I'm like,
- 1:11:42Speaker 6: first of all, everybody's nice, right, And I will also
- 1:11:45Speaker 6: say that every guest that came on the show was
- 1:11:47Speaker 6: very nice too, Like the assholes are a guest on
- 1:11:51Speaker 6: a show?
- 1:11:51Speaker 4: What do you have coming up that we should know
- 1:11:53Speaker 4: that's coming like next? Just and we know your your Juicy.
- 1:11:56Speaker 6: Jes scoop is every Tuesday Thursday, and you know I'm
- 1:12:00Speaker 6: doing it for six years.
- 1:12:01Speaker 5: Love it anywhere you listen.
- 1:12:02Speaker 6: Obviously, we also do it on YouTube too, so you
- 1:12:05Speaker 6: can watch the whole thing on YouTube.
- 1:12:06Speaker 5: And that's kind of cool because we've.
- 1:12:08Speaker 6: Picked up like like there's a whole I don't know,
- 1:12:11Speaker 6: thirty forty thousand, and now that's not that much because
- 1:12:13Speaker 6: it's I'm not like a YouTuber, but.
- 1:12:15Speaker 5: That actually watch it there. They really like watching it.
- 1:12:19Speaker 6: That's listening, So you know, we do it there too,
- 1:12:21Speaker 6: which is a lot of extra effort. But whatever, why
- 1:12:25Speaker 6: did I start that?
- 1:12:27Speaker 5: Now it's like if it's not up, they freak out.
- 1:12:29Speaker 6: No. But and then I have a bunch of dates
- 1:12:33Speaker 6: starting in August, San Francisco and then through the fall.
- 1:12:36Speaker 5: And where we see those dates heatherickdal dot net.
- 1:12:39Speaker 6: I'm going to all the big cities show Chicago, New York, Boston, Philly,
- 1:12:44Speaker 6: San Francisco, see at all, Atlanta and Nashville.
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: Damn you get a girl. But I'll go home in
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: between them.
- 1:12:50Speaker 2: You'll post you'll post this on your Instagram too, right, No,
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: I don't.
- 1:12:54Speaker 5: Like to promote people. Oh what I like to make
- 1:12:57Speaker 5: this pod. I'm joking.
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: You know your dates?
- 1:13:02Speaker 6: Yes, everything will be and Heather McDonald yet so I
- 1:13:05Speaker 6: don't want to post the dates all the time.
- 1:13:06Speaker 5: But once in a while you throw it up there
- 1:13:08Speaker 5: you remind people that is.
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: There your attitude, I have to say, because I know
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: you at least that party, But this is the funniest
- 1:13:16Speaker 3: your attitude of like I just don't give a ship
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: and I don't want to work that hard. I've ever
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: seen the truth. You're like, it's so much to pack
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: a bag and get on a plane. But but I.
- 1:13:25Speaker 4: Will say that I know you act that way, but
- 1:13:28Speaker 4: when it comes to your comedy, it's a hard thing
- 1:13:30Speaker 4: to do and very few.
- 1:13:31Speaker 5: People can do on the stage.
- 1:13:32Speaker 6: It's my most favorite thing to do it's amazing. I'm
- 1:13:35Speaker 6: just saying sometimes the effort and the stress around getting
- 1:13:38Speaker 6: on the stage, I totally get it. Being on stage
- 1:13:40Speaker 6: is the best part, right, It's it's getting to it. Yeah,
- 1:13:42Speaker 6: it's all that other stuff.
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: To get it.
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: It's going on a vacation where you're like so excited
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: to go to Paris or whatever, and you're like, fuck,
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: I have to pack.
- 1:13:51Speaker 5: I've never been to Paris a little bit.
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: Okay, you too, I mean you should just honestly, just
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: I mean I could run two weeks of episodes. You're
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: going back to front. By the way, everybody hasn't been
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: to Paris.
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: I know that.
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: No, you don't know. You don't. You don't. She doesn't
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: tell her.
- 1:14:16Speaker 6: I am going to go on a really fabulous trip
- 1:14:18Speaker 6: though this next summer.
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: I think she should go with you.
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: Yeah, yease.
- 1:14:22Speaker 6: Now my kids are old and I can afford it.
- 1:14:24Speaker 6: It's like the double whooming. I can finally do it right,
- 1:14:27Speaker 6: like when I was young and then I couldn't go
- 1:14:30Speaker 6: when they.
- 1:14:30Speaker 5: Were little, and now it's like I can go.
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: Now mom is going and doing that right.
- 1:14:34Speaker 6: Go.
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: I see you vacationing a lot though on your gram,
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: So don't don't play me.
- 1:14:38Speaker 5: I see it's all places like here and stuff, which
- 1:14:40Speaker 5: is great.
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: You don't like to get on a plane, you just said,
- 1:14:43Speaker 3: so I'll do a big thing.
- 1:14:45Speaker 5: Well, don't the first class I go on there, I
- 1:14:50Speaker 5: go heaven. You don't need nine am first class.
- 1:14:55Speaker 6: I have a good alcohol either, it's never like a
- 1:14:57Speaker 6: good wine or anything.
- 1:14:58Speaker 5: And the food I don't with a morsel. I eat
- 1:15:01Speaker 5: the entire thing.
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: So why so why I love playing food?
