- 0:01Speaker 1: Hi Amber. Hi Lola. Welcome to an unlikely affair. Hello everybody.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome back to another episode of unlikely affair.
- 0:13Speaker 1: Good morning, darling. Good morning. Is this the first time
- 0:18Speaker 1: we've recorded in this room together?
- 0:19Speaker 3: It is.
- 0:20Speaker 1: It sure is. Usually it's Easton. I've only done it
- 0:23Speaker 1: here with Easton and myself. It's kind of fun. It's fine.
- 0:26Speaker 1: It's like, it's not the same as the studio, but no,
- 0:29Speaker 1: it's not this week. We'll take it. We'll take what
- 0:32Speaker 1: I can get. That's for sure. Not complaining right now
- 0:35Speaker 1: in life. By the way, before we jump into like
- 0:37Speaker 1: back to school and stuff, because it's the second week
- 0:39Speaker 1: of the kids being back. Are we like, this is
- 0:46Speaker 1: such a dumb question because I know the answer. Are
- 0:48Speaker 1: we feeling somewhat settled? You're funny. You're funny. You found
- 0:54Speaker 1: a place to live. I did. I did. I found
- 0:56Speaker 1: a place to live. Okay.
- 0:57Speaker 2: So last night, this is hysterical. I, I was like
- 1:01Speaker 2: Goldilocks and the three bears.
- 1:03Speaker 1: No joke.
- 1:04Speaker 2: It was, I actually started laughing and then I started
- 1:06Speaker 2: getting irritated. So I started off in my bed. That's a,
- 1:10Speaker 2: on the mattress on the floor.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:12Speaker 2: Unfortunately, the house next to me, they have floodlights. So
- 1:16Speaker 2: one window, the floodlight was coming through. The other window
- 1:19Speaker 2: on the opposite side of my bedroom, the moon was shining.
- 1:21Speaker 1: And it's so beautiful. And I love the moon.
- 1:23Speaker 2: But it was like shining directly into my window.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Because you don't have any fixtures in there.
- 1:30Speaker 2: No, I don't have any blinds and curtains. And so
- 1:32Speaker 2: I ordered curtains, but I just... somehow can't seem to
- 1:36Speaker 2: nail down a handyman.
- 1:38Speaker 1: So I have the best. You do?
- 1:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Oh God. I'm so glad I just said something. Okay.
- 1:43Speaker 1: So I need his number ASAP.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Then I went into Riley's room where she does have
- 1:47Speaker 2: a bed, but this is going to sound so crazy.
- 1:50Speaker 2: So I'm terrified of the dark and there's the outside
- 1:55Speaker 2: floodlight on my house. It's right above this like cactus
- 2:00Speaker 2: looking plant and it cast a shadow on the roof
- 2:04Speaker 2: of the bedroom. So it looks like a monster's like coming.
- 2:07Speaker 2: And I was like, dude, this sucks. Like fuck this place.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Give me back to Montana. I'm, I was getting very upset.
- 2:14Speaker 2: And then I was like, you know what?
- 2:16Speaker 1: The couch seems like a nice place. I literally ended
- 2:19Speaker 1: up sleeping on the couch. You love a good couch moment.
- 2:22Speaker 1: But I, who knew? Like who knew?
- 2:24Speaker 2: So I, I, I, um, I'm settled, but I'm not
- 2:28Speaker 2: emotionally settled.
- 2:31Speaker 1: You think that's ever going to happen for us though?
- 2:34Speaker 1: I'm settled too, but like emotionally I feel very unstable.
- 2:38Speaker 2: I was so not well last night. I didn't sleep
- 2:41Speaker 2: at all. Like I did not sleep at all, but
- 2:44Speaker 2: that's okay. I'm here with you. I get to do
- 2:47Speaker 2: the podcast. Riley's happy. My ex is happy. Our ex
- 2:52Speaker 2: is happy that she's back. I'm trying to have a
- 2:54Speaker 2: better attitude in life.
- 2:56Speaker 1: So just fucking.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Go with it for a second. Because right now I'm, I'm,
- 3:01Speaker 2: I'm really missing Montana. Yeah.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Like really miss. Actually, I'm also missing my stuff. You know,
- 3:08Speaker 1: I just want my stuff. I wonder if once your
- 3:11Speaker 1: stuff is here, you won't miss Montana as much because
- 3:15Speaker 1: if you, yes, you had like a life out there,
- 3:18Speaker 1: but it was only a life that was built over
- 3:21Speaker 1: the past year. Now your sister lived there, which was like,
- 3:27Speaker 1: Home is just where your heart is, which is like family, right?
- 3:30Speaker 2: Yeah, but like my family's not, yes, Autumn's there and
- 3:33Speaker 2: my nephew's there and I miss them dearly. But I
- 3:37Speaker 2: really think that like, I have to be able to
- 3:40Speaker 2: find my peace here. Like peace is, this sounds so
- 3:45Speaker 2: dumb and so cliche, but peace starts within.
- 3:49Speaker 1: And I associated and I clung on to my.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Peace being in Montana so tightly that, And I'm like, Amber,
- 3:57Speaker 2: you have to create that same environment, which starts with
- 4:00Speaker 2: my morning routine. Like I don't have my journal. I
- 4:04Speaker 2: did say my prayers this morning. I'm like, I can't
- 4:07Speaker 2: like kneel down and say them because my mattress is
- 4:09Speaker 2: on the floor and I'm like on account.
- 4:11Speaker 1: That's fucking weird. So I was like, all right, God,
- 4:14Speaker 1: we're just talking to you from bed today.
- 4:16Speaker 2: And I need to like, I'm working out with my
- 4:20Speaker 2: trainer and that feels really, really good just to be
- 4:22Speaker 2: moving my body.
- 4:23Speaker 1: So like, I just need to get into my routine,
- 4:24Speaker 1: but yeah. And your trainer's hot. Thank you. When Jenna
- 4:29Speaker 1: is gone, because she's doing a retreat, she does them
- 4:32Speaker 1: like once or twice a year out of the country.
- 4:36Speaker 1: And I'm like, I will be taking this opportunity. Because
- 4:40Speaker 1: you can't even do it via Zoom. It's like a
- 4:42Speaker 1: retreat where from morning until night, they're doing things. Yeah,
- 4:44Speaker 1: and you guys are going to be on the opposite
- 4:46Speaker 1: time zone. Yes, which sometimes we make that work. We
- 4:50Speaker 1: did it when she was in Spain. It was weird.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Don't love it. Well, you're working out in the morning
- 4:55Speaker 1: and she's working out at night before bed. Or like
- 4:57Speaker 1: she's training you. That bothers me too. I'm like, I
- 5:00Speaker 1: don't like that you're up right now. It's bothering me.
- 5:03Speaker 1: Your eyes should be closed. Why are you pumping weights?
- 5:06Speaker 1: I was like, I'm taking this opportunity to work out
- 5:09Speaker 1: with this hot man. Yeah. Jake is amazing. And he's
- 5:13Speaker 1: great with kids too. Really good with kids. As in
- 5:16Speaker 1: like a stepfather? Yeah.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Good.
- 5:20Speaker 1: We love that. Listen, every time I introduce you to someone,
- 5:23Speaker 1: I get in trouble by Lisa.
- 5:25Speaker 4: Why?
- 5:26Speaker 1: What does she say?
- 5:27Speaker 2: Well, remember the first one that I introduced you to
- 5:29Speaker 2: and she gave me this lecture in the kitchen?
- 5:32Speaker 1: Oh, the rapper. Yeah. She was not happy about that.
- 5:35Speaker 2: I said, Lisa, that was just a distraction. That was not,
- 5:37Speaker 2: I wasn't thinking like, yes, this could be her guy.
- 5:40Speaker 2: This could be the stepfather to your grandchildren.
- 5:43Speaker 1: She doesn't know how to wrap her mind around that
- 5:46Speaker 1: because she had a high school boyfriend who got into
- 5:50Speaker 1: a horrendous car accident. They, she's, I think he was
- 5:54Speaker 1: the love of her life, obviously, until she met my dad.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Horrendous car accident because his friend was drunk driving. He
- 6:03Speaker 1: was hooked up. He had significant brain damage and was paralyzed.
- 6:09Speaker 1: So he couldn't talk, walk. That's how she lost the
- 6:14Speaker 1: first love of her life. Then met my dad. Then
- 6:17Speaker 1: got married. Never lived on her own. Never had a struggle. Yes,
- 6:21Speaker 1: she lost. her boyfriend and she also lost my dad.
- 6:25Speaker 1: I acknowledge that. But I mean like the struggles that
- 6:27Speaker 1: you and I go through where like your heart is
- 6:29Speaker 1: involved and then it doesn't work out. You got to
- 6:31Speaker 1: have a distraction. She doesn't understand that. Yeah.
- 6:34Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Like with the rapper, she was like, I just don't,
- 6:37Speaker 1: it was world war three in this household. I over
- 6:39Speaker 1: this fucking rapper created. I just don't.
- 6:42Speaker 3: See him being the stepfather to these kids that you need.
- 6:45Speaker 3: I'm like, what the fuck are you talking about?
- 6:49Speaker 1: Either do I? He's a good time. He's a good time.
- 6:53Speaker 2: He is really sweet, though. I do really admire how.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Sweet he is. I just... The whole fucking thing. Anyway, yes.
- 7:01Speaker 1: I don't even know how we went on that tangent. Oh,
- 7:03Speaker 1: the guy.
- 7:04Speaker 3: The guy.
- 7:04Speaker 1: The hot trainer. Michelle works out with him now, too.
- 7:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 7:08Speaker 1: I see that. She's all up in the gym working
- 7:11Speaker 1: on that front nurse. Oh, my gosh. He killed me
- 7:14Speaker 1: the other day. I texted him. I was like, Jake,
- 7:17Speaker 1: I can't lift heavy weights like that. You have to
- 7:19Speaker 1: go slow. He thinks... I'm, I don't know. It's, but
- 7:23Speaker 1: it's good. I'm glad.
- 7:24Speaker 2: And I need it for my mental health. So as
- 7:25Speaker 2: long as I stay on my routine, I continue to develop.
- 7:28Speaker 1: I need to get, buy a journal. I'm going to
- 7:30Speaker 1: go to Target. I have to go to Costco to
- 7:31Speaker 1: buy a stupid vacuum.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Ugh.
- 7:33Speaker 1: It's just like these little things that you realize. So annoying.
- 7:36Speaker 1: That you're like, I need. And I took for granted.
- 7:38Speaker 1: And I actually need to go out now and purchase
- 7:40Speaker 1: them again. Again. Like Riley, for instance.
- 7:43Speaker 2: So Riley comes home in Montana every day after school.
- 7:47Speaker 1: She gets her dino nuggies. She gets her frozen french fries.
- 7:49Speaker 1: She sells dino nuggets? By the way, they slap. They
- 7:53Speaker 1: are so good. She's a creature of habit since she
- 7:56Speaker 1: was like three. And so she makes them.
- 7:58Speaker 2: And now I'm like, oh my God, today after school,
- 8:00Speaker 2: I panicked last night and I went on Amazon and
- 8:03Speaker 2: I ordered like, I love, that's the other difference between
- 8:06Speaker 2: Amazon in Montana and here is that Montana takes like
- 8:09Speaker 2: three or four days to get something. You could have
- 8:11Speaker 2: something the same day, if not the next morning from
- 8:13Speaker 2: like 4 a.m.
- 8:14Speaker 1: To 8 a.m.
- 8:15Speaker 2: And I pulled out of my driveway to come over
- 8:16Speaker 2: here and her air fryer was here. So she's going
- 8:19Speaker 2: to be very excited coming home from school.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Oh yeah, it's going to be crispy. Oh yeah. Yeah.
- 8:24Speaker 2: I get very overwhelmed when I go and buy stuff
- 8:26Speaker 2: on Amazon because there's a thousand different options. And now
- 8:31Speaker 2: I like contemplate which one to buy. So I think
- 8:33Speaker 2: I just bought the same air fryer that I have
- 8:35Speaker 2: in Montana.
- 8:37Speaker 1: That's good. Anyways, the little things. Is she liking school?
- 8:42Speaker 1: I think so.
- 8:43Speaker 2: So something that's really funny, this is, she's going back.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Obviously the kids have to wear a uniform and the
- 8:49Speaker 2: first three days she, you know, it was free dress
- 8:51Speaker 2: day and she wore a spaghetti.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Strap, which. Oh wait, I saw her that day. I
- 8:56Speaker 1: would have never let her wear this. I thought I
- 8:58Speaker 1: told you she was in a tank top. Is a
- 9:00Speaker 1: tank top different than a spaghetti strap? Well, like this,
- 9:03Speaker 1: what I'm wearing right now, this is a tank top.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Hers was thinner than this. Right. It just like shows
- 9:08Speaker 1: her bra. Okay.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Well, So she wore that. And she's like, they said
- 9:13Speaker 2: we couldn't wear things like that. And I was like, yeah,
- 9:15Speaker 2: you can't.
- 9:15Speaker 1: You can't.
- 9:15Speaker 2: When I was in school and I went to public school,
- 9:17Speaker 2: you couldn't wear that kind of stuff. And she's like,
- 9:20Speaker 2: they're so sexist. And she's been using this word sexist
- 9:24Speaker 2: for the last probably week. So I don't know if
- 9:27Speaker 2: she heard this from another friend. And I'm like, why
- 9:31Speaker 2: are they— why are you calling them sexist? Because you can't,
- 9:35Speaker 2: they have rules and you don't want to follow the rules.
- 9:37Speaker 2: And she's like, yeah, but the boys get to wear
- 9:39Speaker 2: whatever they want. And they have like their ass crack
- 9:41Speaker 2: is showing. And I was like, okay, so like, how
- 9:44Speaker 2: do I approach this as a mom? It's a little
- 9:46Speaker 2: double standard.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Because women are sexualized.
- 9:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:49Speaker 1: That's what it is. A man can walk around with
- 9:53Speaker 1: his full body hanging out and women can control themselves
- 9:57Speaker 1: and be like, oh, his whole body's hanging out. Not
- 9:59Speaker 1: the appropriate time to be looking or commenting or any
- 10:02Speaker 1: of the above. Boys see a spaghetti strap and they
- 10:08Speaker 1: get a hard on and they can't even function. That's
- 10:11Speaker 1: the difference. We're mature creatures. We can't control them. So
- 10:14Speaker 1: we have to focus on what we can control, which
- 10:16Speaker 1: is ourselves. I think the other thing you should point
- 10:19Speaker 1: out is You may have seen boys wearing that. They
- 10:24Speaker 1: could have said the same thing to the boys. You
- 10:25Speaker 1: can't dress like that. Right. They could have called, like,
- 10:28Speaker 1: I'm sure.
- 10:29Speaker 3: They didn't walk up to the boys and say, everyone,
- 10:31Speaker 3: I'm letting you know that Riley will not be wearing.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Spaghetti straps any longer because we did tell her she can't.
- 10:37Speaker 1: You know, like, you don't know what the conversation was
- 10:39Speaker 1: on the other side. I love that she's using that word, though.
- 10:43Speaker 1: A little feminist after my own heart.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Jeez, I was like, oh God, we're back in LA
- 10:47Speaker 2: and she's already using words like sexist.
- 10:49Speaker 1: I was like, fuck. Different world out here. It's a
- 10:53Speaker 1: different world. Maybe you belong in L.A., Riley.
- 10:56Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 10:56Speaker 1: She's L.A. through and through. A hundred percent. She is.
- 10:59Speaker 1: She is a L.A.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Girl.
- 11:10Speaker 1: How's Ocean's first week? Ish. Half a week. Few days.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Her favorite part is riding the bus. It's her favorite part.
- 11:19Speaker 1: And I cried at orientation. I cried the first day
- 11:24Speaker 1: of school. And the first day of school, we did
- 11:28Speaker 1: drop off just regular, like taking the car, whatever, because
- 11:32Speaker 1: I wanted to take pictures. I walk her into the
- 11:35Speaker 1: class and she's nervous. And that's not like Ocean. Ocean
- 11:39Speaker 1: has always been, granted, she's only five and a half,
- 11:42Speaker 1: but like first day of pre-K when she was three,
- 11:45Speaker 1: walked right in, didn't think another thing about it. Even
- 11:49Speaker 1: the next year that she went back to her preschool,
- 11:53Speaker 1: didn't think a thing about it. This is the first
- 11:56Speaker 1: time where she's talking to me like, I'm nervous about this.
- 12:01Speaker 1: I'm nervous about that. We walk into school, first day,
- 12:06Speaker 1: and she's like, I put her in a white button-up,
- 12:10Speaker 1: the uniform. She goes, mom. All of the girls that
- 12:14Speaker 1: I see are in red shirts. Was I supposed to
- 12:15Speaker 1: be in a red shirt? I didn't know that I
- 12:17Speaker 1: was supposed to wear a red shirt. I was like, honey,
- 12:19Speaker 1: you're fine. And the teacher overheard her. She goes, you
- 12:21Speaker 1: look great. That's a color that you can wear. We
- 12:24Speaker 1: can wear white. We can wear red on some days.
- 12:27Speaker 1: But she was like, you're wearing exactly what you're supposed
- 12:29Speaker 1: to wear. And so, like, that broke my heart. Then
- 12:32Speaker 1: she walks in. She goes, I don't know any of
- 12:34Speaker 1: these kids. I was like, just start going up to
- 12:36Speaker 1: the playground and making new friends.
- 12:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Like, just start talking to people. Oh, my God. That
- 12:40Speaker 1: makes me so emotional. I know that nervous feeling when
- 12:45Speaker 1: you start a new school. It's terrifying. What I do
- 12:49Speaker 1: love is that this school she's going to be at
- 12:53Speaker 1: shouldn't be a great fit for the long haul until
- 12:56Speaker 1: she graduates. Yes, thank God. So she's not going to
- 12:58Speaker 1: have the newness, which I had to do like four
- 13:02Speaker 1: different times, like normal, you know? It was preschool. Preschool. Elementary,
- 13:08Speaker 1: junior high, high school. And it was like, oh my gosh,
- 13:11Speaker 1: I cannot. I felt like I was going to have
- 13:13Speaker 1: a heart attack every single time I started a new school.
- 13:17Speaker 1: And so then I get her from the bus stop
- 13:20Speaker 1: first day of school. And she's just like beaming how much.
- 13:24Speaker 1: She gets off and she goes, I love the bus.
- 13:26Speaker 1: And the bus driver said, bye, Ocean. Because she's the
- 13:30Speaker 1: youngest one on the bus. Everyone else is like in
- 13:33Speaker 1: middle school. Then I take her the second day. to
- 13:36Speaker 1: the bus stop to go to school. And she is
- 13:39Speaker 1: just beaming about getting on the bus. The door is open.
- 13:44Speaker 1: She walks up. The bus driver is like, good morning, Ocean.
- 13:48Speaker 1: She goes, you're going to sit up here with me.
- 13:50Speaker 1: So she's in like the front row. The girl's buckling
- 13:53Speaker 1: her in. And all I see is they drive away.
- 13:55Speaker 1: It's just the top of her. Oh, that's so cute.
- 14:00Speaker 1: I sobbed, Amber. Yeah, I would too. I don't know
- 14:07Speaker 1: why I'm so emotional about it, but like it has
- 14:11Speaker 1: fucked me up. Yeah, she's just like. The bond I
- 14:18Speaker 1: have with that child is like something I cannot explain.
- 14:20Speaker 1: And obviously I love and adore Sosa, but I and
- 14:24Speaker 1: I've talked about this before. It's like all of these.
- 14:28Speaker 1: These big moments happening and I feel such like a
- 14:31Speaker 1: trauma bond with Ocean. Where like I'm so protective because
- 14:36Speaker 1: I had to fight so hard for her. Yeah. So
- 14:40Speaker 1: any big moment, it just means something. It just feels
- 14:44Speaker 1: different than it does. Like I'm so at peace with
- 14:47Speaker 1: being Sosa's mom. And I don't really feel that sense
- 14:51Speaker 1: of peace with being Ocean's mom. Like I feel like
- 14:54Speaker 1: I'm constantly... in fight mode and I don't understand that
- 14:59Speaker 1: at all. No, I get that. I totally get the
- 15:03Speaker 1: fight mode. Every year that rolls around and I go
- 15:06Speaker 1: back and I look at like all of these videos
- 15:10Speaker 1: of how her voice used to sound, how it used
- 15:12Speaker 1: to sound when she would call me mama and then
- 15:14Speaker 1: just like how it changes and you don't really notice
- 15:16Speaker 1: the change because you see them every day. And I'm just,
- 15:20Speaker 1: I do not like change. I hate time passing. And
- 15:26Speaker 1: I'm like, my child is in kindergarten. She's, she's like
- 15:32Speaker 1: becoming a little, she's at a real school. And I
- 15:36Speaker 1: know that this, I'm sure moms can relate to this,
- 15:38Speaker 1: but you just, you just want the time to like
- 15:42Speaker 1: just pause. I know. I see videos.
- 15:46Speaker 2: I actually can't go through videos in my phone because
- 15:51Speaker 2: it fucks me up.
- 15:52Speaker 1: Like if I go through old videos of the kids.
- 15:54Speaker 2: When, we were in Hawaii or London's little voice, like
- 15:59Speaker 2: when she was obsessed with Justin Bieber or she used
- 16:02Speaker 2: to watch Doc McStuffins. And I have so many, I
- 16:05Speaker 2: actually have more videos of London than I do Riley,
- 16:09Speaker 2: but it fucks me up. Like I can't, it's almost like,
- 16:12Speaker 2: I'm just like, no, like you're here now. Like it's
- 16:16Speaker 2: just a great gentle reminder that these are the moments.
- 16:19Speaker 2: And because our kids both come from separated homes, we
- 16:26Speaker 2: get their life cut in half.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Like that's half of the drop offs that a normal,
- 16:34Speaker 2: you know, a family that's together, like we get half
- 16:37Speaker 2: of everything. And so it's, it's just a good reminder
- 16:40Speaker 2: just to be like, no, I don't, I don't.
- 16:42Speaker 1: Have to pick ocean up from school today.
- 16:46Speaker 2: I get to like, it just teaches you to slow
- 16:49Speaker 2: down and just like savor every freaking moment.
- 16:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:54Speaker 1: I want to be the one that picks up and
- 16:57Speaker 1: drops off. That has to be a part of my
- 17:01Speaker 1: routine because there's going to be a day where she
- 17:05Speaker 1: just jumps in the car and goes. Once these kids
- 17:09Speaker 1: turn 16 and they get their license, they're gone. Even
- 17:12Speaker 1: beyond that though, in LA, these kids that I see
- 17:14Speaker 1: just out and about at the mall, I'm like, how'd
- 17:16Speaker 1: you get here? Where's your mom?
- 17:19Speaker 4: No, I know.
- 17:19Speaker 1: They're super independent. You walk past them and they're cussing
- 17:23Speaker 1: and I'm like, Why are you talking that way? I know.
- 17:27Speaker 1: I got upset with Riley because she said his ass
- 17:29Speaker 1: crack was showing. And I was like, please don't say that.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Please don't talk like that.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Like, really?
- 17:35Speaker 1: Like, now I understand. I remember my mom went through
- 17:38Speaker 1: my phone when I was in junior high. And she
- 17:43Speaker 1: saw messages. And she was laying in bed looking sad
- 17:49Speaker 1: and depressed. And she like, I went through your phone.
- 17:54Speaker 1: And I saw language that I didn't want to see.
- 17:56Speaker 1: And I like blamed it on my friend. I was like,
- 17:58Speaker 1: I let my friend text from my phone, like complete lie.
- 18:02Speaker 1: But it was, I think what it is, is it's
- 18:04Speaker 1: like less about like, you can't say those words because
- 18:07Speaker 1: they're bad, but it's like, those are for grownups.
- 18:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Which you're not. Be my baby. Because the moment you're
- 18:13Speaker 1: out here thrown around ass crack or the F word,
- 18:17Speaker 1: that means that we have now ventured into a new
- 18:19Speaker 1: stage of life and I'm not ready for it. Right.
- 18:23Speaker 2: That's exactly how I feel when Riley was like, they're sexist.
- 18:26Speaker 1: I was like, wait, wait, like what? Like, how do I? No, no,
- 18:30Speaker 1: you're in seventh grade.
- 18:31Speaker 2: And it's like, oh no, this is the age that
- 18:34Speaker 2: these thoughts and ideas. And like, I, oh, last night
- 18:39Speaker 2: I had to tell you this. She called me and
- 18:42Speaker 2: I actually called to make sure that her, see, I still,
- 18:45Speaker 2: this is me helicoptering from afar. I was like, is
- 18:48Speaker 2: your computer charged for school?
- 18:50Speaker 1: Do you have your clothes picked out? Did you brush
- 18:52Speaker 1: your teeth? Did you did it? And she's like, yes, yes, yes, yes.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Which is like, probably half of it is a lie.
- 18:58Speaker 1: But I said, okay. She's like, mom, this.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Boy reached out to me and asked like, he would,
- 19:06Speaker 2: he wanted to get to know me better.
- 19:07Speaker 1: And like, keep it on the DL, but he thought
- 19:10Speaker 1: I was really cute.
- 19:10Speaker 2: And I was like, the fact that she was willing
- 19:14Speaker 2: to open up to me and tell me this.
- 19:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 19:17Speaker 1: And she didn't keep it from me.
- 19:18Speaker 4: I know.
- 19:20Speaker 1: I was like, oh, yes.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Like, there are moments where I'm like, oh, she loves
- 19:25Speaker 2: her dad. And she is like, so about her dad
- 19:29Speaker 2: right now.
- 19:29Speaker 1: You love that he, that she loves him. Yeah. But
- 19:32Speaker 1: it's like Disneyland. Who the fuck doesn't want to go
- 19:34Speaker 1: to Disneyland? When she comes to you. I want to
- 19:36Speaker 1: go to Disneyland. Actually, no. There's home. It's stability. She
- 19:42Speaker 1: talks to you about the cute things, like a boy
- 19:45Speaker 1: likes me. You're her mom.
- 19:47Speaker 2: I know, but I love, so I was just saying that, like,
- 19:49Speaker 2: I love that moment. that I, it was just a
- 19:51Speaker 2: gentle reminder for me that I was like, Oh, we
- 19:53Speaker 2: still have that connection where she's willing to open up.
- 19:55Speaker 1: And that's all I want. I just want my kids.
- 19:57Speaker 2: To always be able to come to me, whether it's
- 19:59Speaker 2: boys or friendship or whatever it is. That's like my
- 20:03Speaker 2: main goal. Like just keep the channel of dialogue open.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Open always and be in the ear and sometimes not
- 20:11Speaker 2: even give them advice about what they're.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Asking or make a comment. Just listen. Because sometimes they
- 20:17Speaker 1: just need to get it out. Like in that moment,
- 20:19Speaker 1: that boy had just text her and she just needed
- 20:21Speaker 1: to tell someone.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:23Speaker 1: So it was so cute. I was so, I was like, Oh,
- 20:25Speaker 1: you know what? That's a funky age though. I remember
- 20:27Speaker 1: when I went through that phase of life, like 12
- 20:31Speaker 1: to 14 and my mom, which is hard to imagine
- 20:38Speaker 1: because we're so close. But that little period of time,
- 20:42Speaker 1: she was so fucking annoying to me. I was like,
- 20:44Speaker 1: get out of my business. Don't talk to me about stuff.
- 20:48Speaker 1: I just want to be with my friends. I just
- 20:49Speaker 1: want to text this boy, like get out of my grill.
- 20:52Speaker 2: So they say that the biggest changes in child development
- 20:58Speaker 2: are from, I think, zero to three and from 11
- 21:01Speaker 2: to 14. And I saw that the other day. There's
- 21:04Speaker 2: this woman that I follow on Instagram who's been like
- 21:07Speaker 2: a saving grace whenever I feel like I'm losing my
- 21:09Speaker 2: shit with Riley or one of the kids. It's like,
- 21:13Speaker 2: I have to remember, they're going through so many changes.
- 21:17Speaker 1: And I'm like, okay, we got this. We got this.
- 21:20Speaker 1: Of course you do. But like 11 to 14, I'm
- 21:22Speaker 1: in it. She's going to be 13 in November. Yeah,
- 21:24Speaker 1: so like you're basically out of it almost. So she'll
- 21:27Speaker 1: be back in like her freshman year. Yeah.
- 21:30Speaker 2: She'll be back her freshman year. No, her sophomore year.
- 21:32Speaker 2: I heard they get really nice again their sophomore year.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. I turned into an angel. Right? I, like,
- 21:38Speaker 1: was listening again. I realized, like, my mom knows best.
- 21:42Speaker 1: The girls that I was confiding in were actually bitches. Yeah.
- 21:46Speaker 1: You know, I'm like, my mom has never told my secrets. Like,
- 21:48Speaker 1: you hoes. You hoes are talking.
- 21:51Speaker 2: It's hard. It's a hard age. But other than that,
- 21:55Speaker 2: I think Riley is super... Excited to be back here
- 21:58Speaker 2: in LA going to school and she better get her
- 22:02Speaker 2: homework done.
- 22:02Speaker 1: That's all I have to say. Yeah. I asked Ocean,
- 22:04Speaker 1: do you like school? I know you love riding the bus,
- 22:06Speaker 1: but do you like school? And she goes, it's different.
- 22:12Speaker 1: And then the second day that I picked her up,
- 22:13Speaker 1: I said, are you liking school more? And she goes, mom,
- 22:17Speaker 1: I like it like this much more already. So Riley. Okay.
- 22:23Speaker 2: So I had a conversation with Riley and I didn't
- 22:24Speaker 2: tell you this last night when I talked to you
- 22:26Speaker 2: on the phone. I'm going to pick Riley up from
- 22:28Speaker 2: school today, but going forward, I'm dropping her off. She's
- 22:32Speaker 2: on the same bus as Ocean. So I can drop
- 22:34Speaker 2: her off.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:35Speaker 1: But they get out at different times. I know, but
- 22:39Speaker 1: they wait for the upper school. Oh, they do.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Yes.
- 22:42Speaker 1: See, I wanted her to take the bus today. That's
- 22:44Speaker 1: why Ocean basically gets dropped off at the bus stop
- 22:49Speaker 1: an hour later than she gets out of school. So
- 22:53Speaker 1: what do they do for that hour? They play? They
- 22:55Speaker 1: have like play times? Yeah, probably.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Okay, I wonder if I can call the school today
- 22:59Speaker 2: and get Riley on the bus because the only reason
- 23:01Speaker 2: why she didn't want to take the bus home, she's like, well,
- 23:04Speaker 2: Ocean's not on the bus.
- 23:05Speaker 1: But tomorrow we should do pickup, figure it out later.
- 23:10Speaker 1: I got to pick up at the school because my
- 23:11Speaker 1: baby is starting gymnastics at a real gym and she
- 23:16Speaker 1: is so excited. Wow. She said, do they have a
- 23:19Speaker 1: balance beam, mom? So you're going to pick her up
- 23:22Speaker 1: straight from the school earlier? At the time she gets out.
- 23:25Speaker 1: Cause then I got a beat at her trial gymnastics thing.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Like my kid wants to go to the Olympics. She's
- 23:30Speaker 1: going to go.
- 23:31Speaker 2: I mean, if she has your personality, she's going to
- 23:33Speaker 2: the Olympics. She's going, we will be there front and center.
- 23:39Speaker 1: I love that.
- 23:40Speaker 2: I know.
- 23:40Speaker 1: I do too. Okay. I have a question for you.
- 23:43Speaker 1: So now that my kids are older there, I'm like,
- 23:47Speaker 1: I can't do anything. That's cool.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Like I have to literally, I'll be a mile away
- 23:51Speaker 2: from the school. And Riley will be like, will you
- 23:53Speaker 2: turn down the music? I'm like, Riley, we're not even
- 23:56Speaker 2: at the fucking school yet. We haven't even hit the turn.
- 23:59Speaker 1: She wants to do what? She wants to turn the
- 24:01Speaker 1: music down.
- 24:01Speaker 4: Oh, okay.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Like, she's so embarrassed. It is the craziest. I'm like,
- 24:06Speaker 1: we're not even close to the school.
- 24:08Speaker 2: I'm not going to write in silence for another five
- 24:10Speaker 2: minutes in fear of you being, quote, embarrassed, by the way.
- 24:14Speaker 2: So this question I'm going to ask you is like,
- 24:18Speaker 2: I'm already out of the woods and I don't even
- 24:20Speaker 2: have to worry about it, but how involved.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Do you actually want to be?
- 24:24Speaker 2: Do you see yourself being when it comes to, because
- 24:28Speaker 2: in kindergarten you, you can still be really involved as
- 24:30Speaker 2: a parent.
- 24:31Speaker 1: The school that they're at right now, you have to
- 24:34Speaker 1: be involved like weekly, like every day at the same,
- 24:39Speaker 1: like a job that you don't get paid for, which
- 24:42Speaker 1: is great. That's totally fine. But my schedule starts getting
- 24:47Speaker 1: very chaotic with just what I do for a living.
- 24:52Speaker 1: So I don't know that I could be there every
- 24:57Speaker 1: single week, you know? So I'll be as involved as
- 25:01Speaker 1: I can be. Let's sign up for like book fair
- 25:03Speaker 1: together or something. Something that's just a one-off. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 25:07Speaker 1: Like the book fair once a year, we have to
- 25:08Speaker 1: show up. That's great.
- 25:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:10Speaker 1: But we should do that together. That's what's really fun
- 25:12Speaker 1: about them being at the same school.
- 25:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Is that we can do shit together. Yeah. I know.
- 25:17Speaker 1: That would actually be hysterical. Oh, I have such a
- 25:20Speaker 1: funny story for you. Tell me. So transportation calls me
- 25:25Speaker 1: and they're like, Hey, just confirming the ocean's going to
- 25:27Speaker 1: be on the bus today. And I was like, yes,
- 25:29Speaker 1: she's like plan on her. And they go, okay. And
- 25:32Speaker 1: there's one more student, uh, Riley and she'll, she'll be
- 25:36Speaker 1: on the bus too. And I was like, yep, she'll
- 25:38Speaker 1: be on the bus. They are so confused. I was
- 25:41Speaker 1: so confused. Who's mom? And then I was like, I
- 25:45Speaker 1: just confirmed that Riley's on the bus and I actually
- 25:47Speaker 1: have no idea what her transportation is. So I'm like,
- 25:53Speaker 1: of course I'm not going to call him. So I
- 25:54Speaker 1: call you. I'm like, you may need to call to
- 25:57Speaker 1: let them know. I don't know.
- 25:58Speaker 2: They were very confused when I talked to them because
- 26:00Speaker 2: I was calling the transportation lady and I was like, okay,
- 26:03Speaker 2: where is Riley's bus stop? Cause I want her on
- 26:06Speaker 2: the same one as ocean so they could ride the
- 26:07Speaker 2: bus together. And, and she goes, well, actually the one
- 26:12Speaker 2: stop is like ridiculous. It's like an extra three grand
- 26:16Speaker 2: or something.
- 26:17Speaker 4: What?
- 26:17Speaker 3: Yes.
- 26:18Speaker 2: For the year for transportation. And I was like, no,
- 26:20Speaker 2: where's the free bus stop. And it was actually our
- 26:23Speaker 2: new bus stop.
- 26:24Speaker 1: The one I'm on.
- 26:24Speaker 4: Yes.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:26Speaker 4: Free.
- 26:27Speaker 1: I'm like, I'm not paying an extra three grand for
- 26:28Speaker 1: my daughter to ride the bus.
- 26:29Speaker 2: So when I said I need her to be on
- 26:32Speaker 2: the same bus stop, bus as Ocean Kent and they're
- 26:35Speaker 2: like well who's Ocean Kent I said no Ocean is
- 26:37Speaker 2: Riley Emmett's half sister and they're like okay so are
- 26:41Speaker 2: you Ocean's mom I'm like no no no I'm not
- 26:43Speaker 2: the mom I'm like no Lala's the mom and then
- 26:47Speaker 2: she I think I confused her even more once I
- 26:51Speaker 2: started explaining I'm like I think I need to drive down.
- 26:53Speaker 1: The school and do a family tree like we need
- 26:55Speaker 1: a family tree.
- 26:56Speaker 4: For our family yeah we do the co-parents are here
- 26:58Speaker 4: Lala and Amber this guy like give or take Kids,
- 27:05Speaker 4: always in the same mix. Yeah.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Always on the same bus. So funny.
- 27:09Speaker 2: You know what?
- 27:10Speaker 1: We should just draw a square. Bala, Amber, Riley, Ocean.
- 27:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Here's the family square. That's all you need to know.
- 27:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Don't you think?
- 27:22Speaker 4: Totally.
- 27:23Speaker 1: I think so. Our square is consistent, and it's just easy.
- 27:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 27:27Speaker 1: It's not confusing, really. But also, what I told the
- 27:31Speaker 1: school is I'm like, But Riley's mom, who is not
- 27:35Speaker 1: Ocean's mom because I'm Ocean's mom. Riley's mom has permission
- 27:40Speaker 1: to get Ocean from school. Oh, good. Because I put
- 27:42Speaker 1: you down, too. Yeah. Oh, good. We have to. Yeah. OK, perfect.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Well, I'm glad we got that out of the way.
- 28:00Speaker 2: So I don't know if you heard about this.
- 28:02Speaker 1: I saw this on Instagram and it was posted and
- 28:06Speaker 1: labeled Oreo gate. So this is a school that I'm
- 28:09Speaker 1: unsure of like where it's located, but it's literally a
- 28:12Speaker 1: school group chat about Oreos. You're going to die about
- 28:15Speaker 1: what it says. Ooh. So one mom sent her kid
- 28:20Speaker 1: to school with Oreos in their lunchbox. Another little girl
- 28:26Speaker 1: comes home crying. Okay. So this, because she didn't get
- 28:30Speaker 1: Oreos in her lunch and they don't allow Oreos in
- 28:33Speaker 1: their household. So that mom calls the teacher and says,
- 28:37Speaker 1: you know, can we make note that like my child
- 28:40Speaker 1: comes home from school upset that kids are having Oreos.
- 28:43Speaker 1: The mom sends them again. The little girl who doesn't
- 28:46Speaker 1: get Oreos cries, goes home to her mom. The mom
- 28:49Speaker 1: calls the teacher again and was like, we got to
- 28:50Speaker 1: do something about the Oreos. So the teacher sends out
- 28:53Speaker 1: a group chat. Please do not pack Oreos in your
- 28:56Speaker 1: kid's lunch. So the one mom, In the group chat,
- 29:00Speaker 1: they're discussing the Oreos. Her name's Charlotte. She goes, I mean,
- 29:04Speaker 1: I sent the Oreos. Laughing, crying face. Michelle. Oh, okay.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Would you mind maybe not sending them again? Charlotte. Why? Laughing,
- 29:12Speaker 1: crying face. Michelle. Just because Ava was really upset about it,
- 29:16Speaker 1: and I think it would be easier if we're all consistent. Casey.
- 29:20Speaker 1: I don't really think we can control what everyone else packs, though. Michelle.
- 29:24Speaker 1: I'm not trying to control anyone. I'm just asking everyone
- 29:27Speaker 1: to be considerate. Charlotte. With respect, I'm not changing my
- 29:30Speaker 1: daughter's lunch because your daughter wants an Oreo.
- 29:34Speaker 3: The one mom was like, I really don't under, like,
- 29:38Speaker 3: we're not giving your kid.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Oreos we know that they're not allowed and she was
- 29:42Speaker 1: like i know but she gets upset and she's.
- 29:43Speaker 3: Like i'm not discussing oreos that is the weirdest thing
- 29:48Speaker 3: i would be like bitch you're crazy now i'm gonna
- 29:50Speaker 3: send my kid with two packs of oreos.
- 29:52Speaker 4: Yeah and i'm gonna make her give your kid one
- 29:54Speaker 4: because yeah by the way it's a fucking.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Oreo you're depriving your child of an.
- 29:58Speaker 3: Oreo by the way that's so weird during uh when
- 30:02Speaker 3: i was in school, my parents downstairs, we had like
- 30:04Speaker 3: this media room and there were these drawers and the
- 30:07Speaker 3: front had all of this candy.
- 30:08Speaker 1: So you could see which drawer had what in it.
- 30:12Speaker 1: And then you would see like a bunch of M & Ms.
- 30:14Speaker 1: You would open that drawer and there's like a bunch
- 30:15Speaker 1: of packs of M & Ms or whatever. So I
- 30:18Speaker 1: was like not deprived. I had a full like candy
- 30:20Speaker 1: bin at my house that was like, have at it
- 30:24Speaker 1: whenever you want. And I never really cared about it.
- 30:26Speaker 1: My friends who didn't get candy at their house. Oh,
- 30:29Speaker 1: we'd had nothing left when they would come. It's like,
- 30:32Speaker 1: I feel like if you just like give your kid
- 30:34Speaker 1: the option, like sure, have them. Yeah. Yeah. Well, they're Oreos.
- 30:39Speaker 1: And they are delicious.
- 30:41Speaker 2: You're not packing your kid like a bag of cocaine.
- 30:46Speaker 2: Which basically your brain doesn't know the difference, but I
- 30:49Speaker 2: would still be like, yeah.
- 30:50Speaker 1: Your brain doesn't know the difference between an Oreo and cocaine?
- 30:52Speaker 2: Well, if you're getting a dopamine hit every time you
- 30:55Speaker 2: have a, like when I have something that I love,
- 30:57Speaker 2: I imagine I'm like, oh, this is what it.
- 30:59Speaker 1: Would be like to do cocaine. Like that feeling of
- 31:01Speaker 1: just being able to be like, Wow, this is really
- 31:04Speaker 1: fucking good. Wow, it doesn't take much to get you
- 31:06Speaker 1: to hit the ceiling, does it? No, it doesn't. But
- 31:08Speaker 1: that's how much I love food. Here's the difference between
- 31:12Speaker 1: an Oreo and cocaine. One burns holes in your brain.
- 31:15Speaker 1: The other does not. Yeah, the other one just gives
- 31:17Speaker 1: you diabetes. And one of them you could dip in
- 31:21Speaker 1: milk and the other one you cannot. No, not at all.
- 31:28Speaker 1: But I was dead over that group chat. I'm... I'm
- 31:31Speaker 1: doing school lunch. And by the way, I want to
- 31:33Speaker 1: eat there at the school. Really? Have you seen the menu? No,
- 31:37Speaker 1: I haven't. Holy shit. I just showed up. I was like, oh,
- 31:39Speaker 1: this is your new school. Okay, bye. What does she
- 31:41Speaker 1: eat for lunch? Do you pack a lunch? No, I
- 31:43Speaker 1: don't know. Have you ordered her lunch? I also don't know. Amber,
- 31:48Speaker 1: what is Riley eating for lunch?
- 31:50Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 31:50Speaker 1: I don't know. I did ask her. Okay. Okay. I said,
- 31:57Speaker 1: do you want to go get snacks for school? And
- 31:58Speaker 1: she goes, no.
- 31:59Speaker 2: And I said, are you sure? I'll take you to
- 32:00Speaker 2: Trader Joe's or like wherever. She likes these like fake
- 32:03Speaker 2: talkies or whatever.
- 32:04Speaker 1: Okay.
- 32:05Speaker 2: And then- She didn't take anything. I said, where's your
- 32:10Speaker 2: snack bag? Okay, well, then she got upset because I
- 32:12Speaker 2: wanted to buy her a lunchbox. She's like, I'm not
- 32:14Speaker 2: doing a lunchbox. We don't do lunchboxes anymore. I said, well,
- 32:16Speaker 2: then what do you do? She goes, I do a
- 32:17Speaker 2: Lululemon bag. I'm like, that means I have to go
- 32:19Speaker 2: to a fucking Lululemon, buy something. For $ 500. So you
- 32:23Speaker 2: could just take the bag. I was like, maybe we
- 32:25Speaker 2: can just go ask for a bag at Lululemon. And
- 32:28Speaker 2: I didn't have any, obviously, because I don't have any
- 32:30Speaker 2: of my stuff here.
- 32:31Speaker 1: So then... I was like, well, just take something in
- 32:34Speaker 1: your backpack. She goes, no, I don't want to. So
- 32:36Speaker 1: I was like, you're literally taking no food to school.
- 32:37Speaker 1: And she goes, yeah. I go, okay, fine. Starve. They
- 32:43Speaker 1: get to an age, Lala, where you're just like, you
- 32:45Speaker 1: know what? Fuck it. They have to learn.
- 32:48Speaker 2: It's like if they forget their gym shoes or if
- 32:50Speaker 2: they forget their homework. Like, I'm not fucking driving to
- 32:53Speaker 2: the school. My mom didn't do that for me.
- 32:55Speaker 1: My mom did that. Someone did it.
- 32:59Speaker 3: Well.
- 33:00Speaker 1: My mom didn't. I was like, you know what? She's
- 33:02Speaker 1: got to learn her lesson. I just can't believe that
- 33:05Speaker 1: Riley's going to school. No food. No, there's this. She's eating.
- 33:09Speaker 1: There's this section. They have these credit cards that you
- 33:13Speaker 1: put money on to. These menus, you get on and
- 33:16Speaker 1: you pick it every day. I did like a couple
- 33:19Speaker 1: of weeks in advance. She's fed through this week. I
- 33:22Speaker 1: need to do it again. They have three different options.
- 33:27Speaker 1: An avocado, cucumber. Sushi roll. Oh, Riley loves that. Oh no,
- 33:31Speaker 1: she doesn't do avocado. We'll just make her do it. Yeah,
- 33:34Speaker 1: just a cucumber roll.
- 33:35Speaker 2: Okay.
- 33:36Speaker 1: They have like lo mein noodles with edamame. They have
- 33:41Speaker 1: blueberry lemon crisps. It sounds amazing. Grass fed beef bolognese.
- 33:52Speaker 1: You're joking. Do you know what I had? I swear
- 33:54Speaker 1: to God. Every day in middle school, I'll never forget.
- 33:56Speaker 2: I had a wrapped fucking chimichanga and a brownie.
- 34:00Speaker 1: That was my lunch. That was my lunch every day. Oh,
- 34:04Speaker 1: before there was like no nuts. Cause every school is
- 34:07Speaker 1: like nuts. You're not conscious.
- 34:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:10Speaker 1: I had PB and J for however many days out
- 34:14Speaker 1: of the year that we went to school. When I
- 34:16Speaker 1: was finished with school, I was like, I never want
- 34:18Speaker 1: to see a fucking PB and J ever again. But
- 34:22Speaker 1: now we're on the other side. I can't get enough
- 34:24Speaker 1: of the PB & Js. I'm so good. Oh, I
- 34:26Speaker 1: know she did have pizza the other day.
- 34:27Speaker 2: This is good for your control issues.
- 34:31Speaker 1: You know what she did?
- 34:32Speaker 2: She goes, I just asked the school if they can
- 34:35Speaker 2: give me a slice of pizza. And I said, well,
- 34:37Speaker 2: did they say you owe them money? She's like, no,
- 34:40Speaker 2: but I told them that I would pay them back.
- 34:43Speaker 1: So they probably just bill you. Because I was super
- 34:46Speaker 1: concerned when I did the school lunch thing. I was like,
- 34:50Speaker 1: I just want to make sure that my child has
- 34:53Speaker 1: lunch tomorrow. Like, can you look on your computer and
- 34:56Speaker 1: see if my order came through? Well, okay. They were like,
- 34:58Speaker 1: your kid's not going to go hungry.
- 35:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:00Speaker 1: We have a lot of different stuff. If the order
- 35:04Speaker 1: didn't come through, like no one's going to like not
- 35:06Speaker 1: feed your kid. That's a great thing about these private schools.
- 35:09Speaker 1: You have top-notch shit happening. Also, at public schools, they
- 35:13Speaker 1: also do free lunches.
- 35:15Speaker 2: Even the school in Montana, the kids that needed a
- 35:20Speaker 2: hot breakfast in the morning, you can go early, and
- 35:22Speaker 2: the state provides.
- 35:24Speaker 1: They have to. It's by law.
- 35:25Speaker 2: The state provides hot breakfast and stuff for kids that...
- 35:28Speaker 2: Don't have maybe a mom and dad who can wake
- 35:30Speaker 2: up and make them a breakfast. But I feel like
- 35:33Speaker 2: a lot of kids don't eat breakfast anyways. When they're little,
- 35:35Speaker 2: they do. But as they get older, they start not
- 35:37Speaker 2: wanting to eat.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Yeah, don't you remember taking tests? They'd be like, hey,
- 35:41Speaker 1: in the morning, you have to take those tests that
- 35:43Speaker 1: were for the state. Make sure you eat breakfast. It's
- 35:47Speaker 1: going to be all day. Bring a snack. We recommend berries.
- 35:50Speaker 1: They're good for the brain. And it was like, ugh. Yeah. Yeah.
- 35:54Speaker 1: And then you're taking the test. You're like, oh my God,
- 35:56Speaker 1: I'm so hungry. My stomach is eating itself. And so
- 35:58Speaker 1: that's when you start going, can I get the berries
- 36:00Speaker 1: out of my bag? Yeah. Or I'll go, just make
- 36:03Speaker 1: it go by faster.
- 36:03Speaker 2: I used to go A, A, A, B, B, B, C, C, C, C, A, B, A, B, A, C, C, A, B, D.
- 36:08Speaker 1: And then I was like, done. I can eat now.
- 36:10Speaker 1: I was not a great student. Me neither. You should
- 36:14Speaker 1: have seen me in math. It was really hard. It
- 36:17Speaker 1: was really fucking hard. And don't even ask me to
- 36:20Speaker 1: read a book and then take a test about it.
- 36:21Speaker 1: This was me.
- 36:27Speaker 3: Why are those eyes.
- 36:33Speaker 1: Stuck to the left? If we were in school together,
- 36:36Speaker 1: we would have been in so much trouble. Especially high
- 36:40Speaker 1: school because that, yeah. Oh, Oh yeah. Especially when I
- 36:46Speaker 1: got sexually active and could not keep my mind off
- 36:48Speaker 1: of like it's like.
- 36:53Speaker 2: I need to get to my boyfriend you're like when
- 36:55Speaker 2: does this fucking lecture end oh and forget it college
- 36:59Speaker 2: thank god i didn't go to college i would.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Thank god we didn't go to college.
- 37:03Speaker 2: That would have been what a waste of money for
- 37:05Speaker 2: my parents had i gone oh a hundred percent i
- 37:08Speaker 2: hated school all right so stay in school kids so
- 37:12Speaker 2: overall we feel good we feel good about being at
- 37:15Speaker 2: the school i love the school we gotta get you
- 37:17Speaker 2: back to montana so you can get situated You got
- 37:20Speaker 2: to get my stuff.
- 37:21Speaker 1: We need to get blinds up.
- 37:23Speaker 2: Oh yeah.
- 37:23Speaker 1: To do list.
- 37:24Speaker 4: Yep.
- 37:25Speaker 3: Yep.
- 37:25Speaker 2: Oh, a handyman.
- 37:26Speaker 1: Remind me. I need your handyman. Yeah.
- 37:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:27Speaker 1: We're going to have to text my mom. She's the
- 37:29Speaker 1: house manager. I don't really have his phone number. I
- 37:32Speaker 1: don't even think I've met him actually. Anyway, you guys,
- 37:34Speaker 1: thank you for listening to another episode of an unlikely affair.
- 37:37Speaker 1: We hope your kids are loving school to my mom
- 37:41Speaker 1: was who their first day of a real school. And
- 37:44Speaker 1: the first week I see you, I feel for you.
- 37:47Speaker 1: Happy almost weekend. Love you guys. Almost weekend. Thank God.
- 37:50Speaker 3: Bye.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Bye.
