- 1:07Welcome back to the podcast, everybody.
- 1:09Hope you're having a great week and a happy New year.
- 1:12We are kicking off this show with a very special guest we're
- 1:15going to be bringing on stage here very shortly.
- 1:18So check out the description or show notes for all the ways that
- 1:21you can find out more about who we have coming on the show this
- 1:24week. And without further ado, very
- 1:27happy to introduce to you all if you probably have maybe have
- 1:30heard of him before, at least heard of his work before.
- 1:33But we've got Sean here from the, I guess kind of like a a
- 1:37Pagan folk band, as we might call him OC and the Jupiter.
- 1:40So welcome to the podcast, Sean, and thanks for being here, man.
- 1:46You got it. Yeah, yeah, I got it.
- 1:49Yeah, There it is. How's it going?
- 1:52Yeah, I was trying to click it on my phone and be like, what's
- 1:55going on here? How do I work?
- 1:58This Yeah, Man, it's great to have you here.
- 1:59I know we we initially had plans on getting you into this into,
- 2:04into the show towards the end of season 6.
- 2:06But as life happens and things are going on with between
- 2:09holidays and, and, and projects and just life in general, we, we
- 2:14were finally able to get you on here to, to welcome in season 7.
- 2:17So I'm excited to, to get to know a little bit more about you
- 2:19and hopefully the listeners and the viewers that aren't familiar
- 2:22with you and what you do, give them some, some some insight
- 2:26into what we're talking about here.
- 2:28So I'm excited. Yeah, I'm excited to, you know,
- 2:32talk with you so. You're, you're up in Ohio, I
- 2:35believe, right? Yeah, yeah, I'm in Kent.
- 2:38It's I'm right by about 15 minutes from Akron.
- 2:43Yep. And about an hour from
- 2:44Cleveland. Like South from Cleveland.
- 2:47OK, so yeah, that's, I used to go all over the Midwest for a, a
- 2:51job that I had years, years ago, just all over the country.
- 2:54And Ohio was one of those places where nothing, not a whole lot
- 2:58going on really in, in terms of anything.
- 3:00I think the the biggest claim to fame is like, what is it the The
- 3:03Rock'n'roll Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
- 3:06Yeah, I don't think we should have that, but it it's cool
- 3:08here. But I mean, Rock'n'roll didn't
- 3:10start here. True.
- 3:12Yeah, it was a weird, it's a weird place to just slap in the
- 3:14middle of the of, of the, of the of the Midwest there.
- 3:18It's a really cool spot though, like how they have a lot of cool
- 3:21memorabilia and all that other stuff.
- 3:25But I mean for its being in Cleveland, I just think it's
- 3:29weird, you know? I think Rock'n'roll started from
- 3:33all the people in Louisiana and all those Blues guys.
- 3:38Yeah, Yep. So yeah, the, the, the heart of
- 3:41rock'n'roll is in the Blues, I say.
- 3:43Or the the soul, Yeah. Something like that, right?
- 3:46Yeah, but you're a musician, clearly.
- 3:48Obviously we're going to be talking a bit about, I mentioned
- 3:51before OC and the Jupiter. They're not, you're not rock,
- 3:54but you guys rock out. I would say, you know, your,
- 3:57your, your sound definitely invokes a lot of emotion, which
- 4:01we're going to be talking a bit about, but in a different way,
- 4:03not as, you know, just like head banging, but just other visceral
- 4:07feelings and visceral emotions. So I know a lot of my audience,
- 4:11you know, they're Pagan or or heathen, you know, so they, they
- 4:15they are into that alternative religious, you know, views of
- 4:19things, how they view the world and, and their connection with
- 4:21nature and all that. But for those that maybe are new
- 4:27to OC and the Jupiter, how did it?
- 4:30How did how did the this project this this band, if you will, or
- 4:33this this this vision? How did it come into to being
- 4:36like? What were some of the defining
- 4:37moments that brought this whole project together?
- 4:42Well, I had AI, had a bunch of wrists and acoustic stuff that
- 4:48I've played throughout the years, even since I was 18.
- 4:51I just learned how to play things a lot better, you know,
- 4:55even younger than that. But I mean, I'm 43 now.
- 4:58I'm about to be 44. Oh, OK.
- 5:01But over so long, like, I just had stuff I played for me.
- 5:05I was in numerous metal bands. I fronted death metal bands,
- 5:09really. And, and yeah, I, I was in a
- 5:12hardcore band. Like in 2001, the first band I
- 5:16was in that played out was a death metal band that I was in a
- 5:19hardcore band. Then I was in like another death
- 5:22metal band. That was, yeah, that rate in the
- 5:26rising of deathcore, but we weren't really deathcore, but we
- 5:29played with deathcore bands. Yeah, that that whole like genre
- 5:34bleed over, like a lot of shows that I've been through over the
- 5:37years that they'll, they'll throw deathcore in with death
- 5:40metal and you know, it, it I guess it opens up a new
- 5:42audience. But they, they, they play well
- 5:44together. They play nice enough together,
- 5:46right? Yeah.
- 5:47And then around 2008, I, you know, I started doing more black
- 5:52metal stuff. Like I've been in the black
- 5:53metal since I was like since 96, ever since I heard Wolf Larivist
- 5:59by Mayhem. Sure, that's the first one.
- 6:02And there is a, an ancient record that I got into.
- 6:06Those are two first. I always wanted to do something
- 6:09like that. But no, he's like, I don't want
- 6:10to do that stuff. I wanted to play something
- 6:13brutal. Yeah.
- 6:14I was just like. And I got an Enslaved and all
- 6:17those other bands and a big Celtic Frost fan too.
- 6:23But I mean I. Was this in Ohio, by the way?
- 6:28Like, was all this going on? In Ohio, all this stuff was in
- 6:31Ohio and I, I used to play a bass and sing in a band called
- 6:37Burial Earth, which they're still doing stuff.
- 6:39They have a bassist and a singer now, so and and yeah, I guess I
- 6:50actually was still in Burial Oath when I was in doing OC up
- 6:54until like a couple years ago. Oh wow, so recently, huh?
- 6:58Yeah, like about two 2 1/2 years ago I left, you know, but I I
- 7:05still had one man projects like I had my funeral new project
- 7:10that I've been in since 2010. I'm still kind of in my my one
- 7:18like Stoner doom project called Witch Hum.
- 7:22I kind of write everything for that.
- 7:24But I have other guys in there that we play out with.
- 7:28But it's been like 5 years. But we also hang out and.
- 7:34You're you're speaking my language.
- 7:35You know, dude, I, I I've I've been in the battle head for
- 7:37longer than I've been to heathen and funny enough, like IA good
- 7:42friend of mine is also in a kind of Nordic folk project that but
- 7:49he has his background in death metal and and black metal
- 7:52projects. The the the current thing that
- 7:54he's doing. It's a it's a one man studio
- 7:57project, but he also performs live with it.
- 7:59It's called Skogermore Zeb yeah, you might know I don't know Zeb
- 8:04is Zeb Croom is is the guy. But anyway, he, he's, he started
- 8:09out and that's how I found him. Like I, I became friends with
- 8:12him through another musical project that he was in that was
- 8:16more black metal. But he's been doing music
- 8:19himself for I don't know how long, but it's been a while.
- 8:22So it's interesting. The origins of OC and the
- 8:25Jupiter, which is totally different than black metal or
- 8:28metal in it at all, started for you as a musician in the more
- 8:33extreme music. Yeah.
- 8:35That's right. But it's always like, I've
- 8:39always had fun playing music. No matter what, I have fun doing
- 8:42it. But I wanted something that kind
- 8:45of went from the heart. And I never had a name for it.
- 8:48And I recorded the first record and I at first I just named it
- 8:53Osiris, like after OC. And I was just like, no OC and
- 8:58the, like OC and the Jupiter. It's OC and Jupiter.
- 9:03Yeah. And they, you know, they're no
- 9:07longer with us. Jupiter passed a couple years
- 9:09ago and OC passed like 3. So I still have, I still have my
- 9:16last German Shepherd. She's 6.
- 9:19But yeah, Jolene named after Dolly Parton song.
- 9:27But for people that maybe just aren't, you know, catching up
- 9:30with this, it's clear that, you know, if you go to OC and the
- 9:33Jupiter's Facebook page, you can learn a little bit more about
- 9:36what, what Sean's talking about these were.
- 9:39So Osiris or OC and Jupiter were both German Shepherds and the
- 9:45the the namesake of of your musical project.
- 9:49OOC was as big as I. I'm pretty sure they had wolf in
- 9:52them. I got them from the breeder
- 9:56Jolene's Love Amish bread puppy mill dog that I didn't want to
- 10:01get but I wanted to get. She kind of picked me but yeah.
- 10:07I don't like malls with pet stores, but I ended up going in
- 10:12one with my ex and I, you know, I literally wanted to let every
- 10:19single animal out of the place. I was kind of mad, but I, I
- 10:22ended up getting her out of the mall.
- 10:25So so. Well it's cool man, like cuz the
- 10:30name itself, when you when you realize that OC is just short
- 10:34for Osiris a a Egyptian deity and Jupiter of course say a
- 10:41Roman figurehead, you know these names evoke very ancient and
- 10:48sort of celestial imagery. There's a there's the three,
- 10:54there's Osiris, Apollo, Odin. Yeah.
- 10:58Which I think are have I've always seen a connection with
- 11:02all of them, like the death, the life, the travel, you know, the
- 11:07all the all saying I not Mordor. I was just watching Lord of the
- 11:14Rings with the family upstairs. Yeah, dude.
- 11:17Oh, it's and Speaking of right, not to get off subject because
- 11:20we you mentioned Lord of the Rings.
- 11:21I almost have to say, did you, did you?
- 11:23Are you aware that they are doing the 25th year anniversary
- 11:27re release in theaters and it's the extended edition?
- 11:30I did not know that, but I I heard about the Gollum thing
- 11:34they're doing about the back story or whatever about Gollum.
- 11:39Yeah, yeah, I'm kind of keen on that.
- 11:42I know Elijah Wood is being recast as Frodo and I believe
- 11:47Ian. Sir Ian McKellen is also
- 11:49reprising his role as Gandalf. Nice.
- 11:52Viggo Mortensen not going to be part of it, which I mean, the
- 11:56the man is as old as Ian was at the time that the Fellowship was
- 12:01filmed 25 years ago. So it's kind of hard to to put
- 12:04man it's. Been that long?
- 12:06It has dude, that's what I'm saying.
- 12:07I like when they when they announce that they're doing a
- 12:0925th year anniversary re release with the extended edition.
- 12:13I'm like, hold on, wait, what 'cause I just turned 40 last
- 12:16year? And.
- 12:17I'm like, I was that I was, I was, you know, 18, whatever the
- 12:21hell, you know, when, when the thing came out or yeah, no, 15
- 12:24was I, I turned 16 that year that it came out.
- 12:27Yeah, I saw Audrey in the theater.
- 12:29I, I, I remember when they came out, I was so stoked 'cause I
- 12:31grew up on The Hobbit cartoon and and the yeah Lord of the
- 12:35Ring cartoon in the 80s. Yes, I remember renting that
- 12:39movie The Hobbit. I remember 'cause you know, this
- 12:43is, I was a kid in the 90s, so everything was VHS, if you
- 12:46could, you know, watch anything. And yeah, I remember my mom
- 12:49taking us to the, to the Public Library and we would, we would
- 12:52check out that, that, that movie every so often and, and watch it
- 12:56like on a weekend or whatever. And then she had a book, she
- 12:59had, she had a, a, a, a printed book of The Hobbit that was a
- 13:03bunch of the illustrations from that cartoon.
- 13:06So. That's wicked.
- 13:08Yeah, man. But yeah, it's so cool to hear.
- 13:10Like, you know, this, this band name OC in the Jupiter evokes
- 13:13these ancient sort of celestial imagery.
- 13:16Whereas for you, there's maybe some of that, but it's also more
- 13:20close, close to your heart because they were your your
- 13:24companions. Yeah.
- 13:25Yeah, they were, yeah. They still are.
- 13:27It's just, you know. Yeah, yeah.
- 13:31So do you like maybe people don't know or, or, or a little
- 13:34bit about you as a person, but obviously the music, it has a
- 13:38lot to do with, you know, nature and connection with spirit.
- 13:42And you just mentioned something that, you know, even though
- 13:44they've passed, they're still a companion.
- 13:47Would you like to talk a little bit about how you feel with
- 13:49regards to, you know, death and, and that transition and how our
- 13:53loved ones, whether they be animal or human, continue with
- 13:58us? Like what's your take on that?
- 14:00What's your kind of view on that sort of thing?
- 14:02Well. Like any human, like I still
- 14:05mourn. Like it's been three years since
- 14:07OC passed and I still mourn here and there.
- 14:10I have moments. My girlfriend lost her cat like
- 14:15a couple years ago when I and I was around during it and I and
- 14:22she still has moments too. You know what I mean?
- 14:24It's been a few years and it's still, you know, Well, no, it's
- 14:28been a a little over a year. Sorry, not two years.
- 14:31It's been a little over a year, so it's still kind of fresh.
- 14:35But yeah, there's a they every once in a while they'll appear
- 14:41in my dreams, you know, And it's usually when it's in the weird,
- 14:47it's, you can't, you know, make your dreams dream whatever, you
- 14:52know. And your dreams are your
- 14:54subconscious and your inner spirit telling you different
- 14:58things in different ways. And sometimes it's a puzzle and
- 15:00you don't understand it. Sometimes there's a way to think
- 15:04about stuff. I look up some indigenous stuff
- 15:07too, to interpret some dream stuff as well.
- 15:10Like I there's lots of things to look up.
- 15:16It's where as human beings and spiritual components, I don't
- 15:22we're, our minds aren't capable to think in a universal
- 15:26component. But we could only, you know,
- 15:32give forth what kind of magically gift forth by our
- 15:38will. I kind of mambled a little bit.
- 15:40That makes sense. I kind of went off the OC thing
- 15:43to that That's. What the show's about, man,
- 15:45It's, it's random, even ramblings.
- 15:46But yeah, I get what you're trying to say though.
- 15:48It's, you know, there's in with, with regards to dreams, you
- 15:53know, I, I can relate to some of what you're saying because I've
- 15:56had those definite what I could only define as visits from
- 16:05spirit or visions that can only be given through our
- 16:10subconscious sleep state, you know, and sure, it could all be
- 16:15rationalized the way or a lot of it could be rationalized the
- 16:18way. I've had somebody on this show
- 16:21before who is a philosopher, a student.
- 16:25He's he's written books about dreams and, and interpreting
- 16:30dreams. He kind of goes by the title The
- 16:34Dream Wizard because he'll you. Should send me his stuff so I
- 16:37can. Address OK, yeah, yeah, I'll
- 16:39definitely 'cause he he he has like a clientele, you know,
- 16:42that, that he'll work with or whatever.
- 16:44But I've, I've, I've had him on he he he had one, he had a, a
- 16:48show himself. I don't know if he still does,
- 16:50but we we exchanged like I had him on my show and then he had
- 16:54me on his. But I told him about, you know,
- 16:57a couple of dreams that I'd had and he I wouldn't say like gave
- 17:03me all the answers, but he definitely helped kind of form a
- 17:09something to make sense of what I was dreaming about.
- 17:11Because, you know, a lot of times we, we come into these or
- 17:14we come out of these experiences with more questions than
- 17:17answers. So I do have something that's
- 17:21been sticking in my head the past two months ago, maybe a
- 17:25little more. Like I had this dream.
- 17:28I was in the water. The water was really blue.
- 17:31Like I could kind of see through it, but I was kind of just
- 17:34floating in the water, like. But I saw Jupiter like swimming
- 17:38near the shoreline. It wasn't too far.
- 17:40It seemed like it was like 20 feet away.
- 17:42And he got out and it seemed like he was with, you know,
- 17:48people there that seemed like, familiar to me, but I couldn't
- 17:52remember who they were, but they seemed familiar, like human
- 17:57beings. And I just just people and like,
- 18:02not a bunch, but like maybe a handful of people.
- 18:06And they were just playing with them.
- 18:07And it kind of made me happy. But it, I, I still was like, I
- 18:13don't understand what's going on.
- 18:15And the sky looked really pretty, you know, kind of like
- 18:20that orange displays with some Blues.
- 18:24And there was. Like a sunset.
- 18:26Yeah, and there's like rock formations like behind it was, I
- 18:30don't know what I was watching that night or whatever that.
- 18:33I mean, maybe it wasn't that. Yeah, that, and that's the
- 18:37that's like the wild thing about with our dreams is, is how much
- 18:41of what we dreaming is, you know, from the previous
- 18:46experiences that we had or a memory that gets retained and
- 18:49then gets manifested through our subconscious state.
- 18:53And, and how much of that gets woven into, you know, messages
- 18:56from spirit or, or, or from those, those unseen, you know,
- 19:01places. And a lot of what, you know, my
- 19:05dreams have been seen, as I would say maybe a lot.
- 19:08But what, what some dreams have been seen for me as is I'll take
- 19:12what details come to me in those dreams and try to understand, is
- 19:16there a meaning to this? But I'll, but I'll focus on the
- 19:18details. So like, you know, with, with
- 19:20your dream, as it were, like if you're so you're in, you know,
- 19:23the water's very blue, right? OK, well, what is what
- 19:26significance does blue water have?
- 19:29Yeah, tranquil, right? That's tranquil.
- 19:32Yeah, that's how I looked at it. And was it like a, you know, was
- 19:35it like a lagoon off of the ocean or was it like some kind
- 19:39of like Appalachian backwoods puddle like in the mountains or,
- 19:43you know, like the location of it can seem it?
- 19:46Seemed like it was off the ocean.
- 19:48Yeah. Some sort of island, but it had
- 19:50mountains off the land but in the back.
- 19:54Yeah. And then even like the colors of
- 19:56it, like so you mentioned like colors in the sky.
- 19:59So was it like, you know, these were like questions that I would
- 20:02ask myself was like, oh, do I remember that being like the
- 20:05colors of the sky? Was it at the dawn or was it at
- 20:08dusk? Right beginning of the day,
- 20:10evening or end of the day. And the timing of things in our
- 20:13dreams can maybe sometimes help like us bring those details
- 20:18like, oh, that's at the beginning of something or it's
- 20:20at the end of something. And then also, who else was
- 20:23there right when you saw a familiar?
- 20:26Presence You saw OC and he was happy.
- 20:29It was a he right? Obviously.
- 20:31No it was juppy. I didn't see OC like OC usually
- 20:34just appears just like he's guiding me somewhere.
- 20:37Right, right, right. Or he's just saying hi.
- 20:40Juppies done it a couple times, but that was the one where he
- 20:44was just saying it felt like he was saying everything was all
- 20:46right. Just enjoying himself really
- 20:49kind of being. Seemed like he was telling me
- 20:52everything's all right. And then it seemed like the
- 20:54people there that seemed familiar, maybe they're people
- 21:00I've known in the past that passed away or just like, maybe
- 21:04different entities. Yeah, I know.
- 21:09But it's all very, it's, I mean the intricacy that one could go
- 21:12into with, with dream analogies or dream interpretations.
- 21:16I've had dreams like that too, where the people in them I
- 21:19couldn't necessarily place by face or even the name, like they
- 21:23didn't look familiar or, or carry a name or an identity that
- 21:27I could recognize out of my dream.
- 21:30However they felt safe could be like, you know, the
- 21:36manifestation of an ancestor or ancestral spirits that even
- 21:40though you don't know them, they know you.
- 21:41And they come to us in these ways in a calming, sort of
- 21:45comforting presence that. Yeah.
- 21:48I mean, who, you know, I don't know.
- 21:49I'm not the interpreter of the dream, but I'm just saying like,
- 21:51these are things that come through my mind when I'm having,
- 21:54when those moments happen that can really shed some light, you
- 21:59know, on and all. But so much of the music.
- 22:03I obviously, you know, we talked a bit about that with your kind
- 22:06of evolution as a musician over the years.
- 22:10You know, you were into music and then you got into extreme
- 22:12music and now you're at this place where it's a bit more,
- 22:16it's intense, but not like in a, in a black metal, right?
- 22:21The the, the emotions that we were that I was saying before
- 22:24it, it, it, it evokes a lot of or I would say that it invokes a
- 22:30lot of like longing or loss and rebirth.
- 22:35Like there's this, that kind of thing.
- 22:38So what what? What kind of brought you to that
- 22:41place in your musical evolution or your journey to feel so like
- 22:47this was the right place for you to be?
- 22:50So I started OC in the Jupiter just for my like, for myself.
- 22:59It was the spiritual journey. But I mean, it was also more of
- 23:04a, you know, these are the things I've written over the
- 23:06years that I just kind of revamped to play better.
- 23:10And then I I wrote the first album, Halls of the Wolf, that
- 23:16that one doesn't have Chris on cello.
- 23:20It's just me doing that, like everything.
- 23:24And then I brought Chris on for the next one when we got signed
- 23:27for to Eisenwald and based out of Germany.
- 23:32And yeah. And then it's just it's a
- 23:42connection to nature, but also speaking to like it's like
- 23:48speaking to something through music spiritually and nature
- 23:53that empowers this your yourself to do things for yourself.
- 23:59Oh wow, right. And do do things the better the
- 24:02world too, Like we're all living in a like not like the US is
- 24:08like we're it's a pretty messed up time, right?
- 24:16Now it is and, you know, and just, I mean, and I'm and I'm
- 24:18very open and very real with anybody else.
- 24:21It's, it's, you know, this is a messed up time.
- 24:23It, it's a crazy time to be alive.
- 24:25It's, and it's a lot of things are messed up.
- 24:28So it can really put a strain on our mental health, our spiritual
- 24:33health, our physical health, everything.
- 24:35Well, I mean, capitalism does that.
- 24:38Yeah. Straight up, right?
- 24:40I mean it's. How it's designed, you know,
- 24:43like. Yeah, it's the machine.
- 24:45Yeah, that's the that's the punk background in me so.
- 24:50I hear you, man. I listen.
- 24:52I hear you. It's you can't avoid it.
- 24:53Like when you see these things happening and it it's, you know,
- 24:59it's hard to be passive. Yeah, we got to stick to we, we,
- 25:03we got to stick together. That's just what it is.
- 25:05And it's hard because the media is trying to separate everybody.
- 25:09Yeah. And they're, they're trying to
- 25:14make us enslaved. They're trying to put us in the
- 25:17more consumerism, so they enslave us more.
- 25:20Oh yeah. I could go on forever.
- 25:25I don't like talking politics, but I I, I don't.
- 25:31But I mean, I will. Well, I shouldn't say I don't
- 25:34like talking politics. I talk about politics a lot, but
- 25:37not usually on like yes stuff. But I I'm not like like
- 25:44capitalism is fascism. That's just what it is.
- 25:47It breaches it. It's the start of fascism and
- 25:51I'm not. And down with that.
- 25:54I revolt against fascism. That's just, I don't like it.
- 25:58Gator don't play that shit. Nope.
- 26:01You know, that's Doug Kennedy's man.
- 26:05There's a poster right on the wall right there, like.
- 26:07Yeah, I noticed. That I don't, I don't mess
- 26:10around man, so. Well, I'm glad to hear, you
- 26:15know, I'm glad that first of all, with, you know, in spite of
- 26:19of the craziness that's going on in the world that, you know,
- 26:21you're still willing to kind of continue on in your vision or in
- 26:25your process of creating music and creating music that is
- 26:30meaningful, right. It could just be in especially
- 26:33in a day in this day and age where, you know, artificial
- 26:38intelligence is rampant. Randa there's there's some cool
- 26:42things about it, but like so much of that is killing natural.
- 26:47That's. A propaganda machine.
- 26:50Yeah, that too. I mean, but also the fact that,
- 26:53you know, in order to, in order to have the, in order to have
- 26:56that, you know, we're in order to be able to use that, you got
- 26:59to have these data centers that are raping the land and, and
- 27:02destroying our very home. And it's and it's, it's so
- 27:08disheartening and, and all it is, is about, you know, how can,
- 27:11how can the rich get richer? You know, nobody's, nobody
- 27:14cares. The people that that could make
- 27:17a difference, that are in these positions of power, as it were,
- 27:21they don't care about the right things.
- 27:22You know this is they. Just care about their pockets.
- 27:25Exactly. That's what's so disheartening
- 27:27about it, you know, and then how we continue as a species, how we
- 27:30continue not just for us now, but for our future, our
- 27:34children, our grandchildren, you know, the next iteration of
- 27:37humanity, what's going to be left for them worth fighting
- 27:42for, right? That That's that's.
- 27:44What's going to be there for us when we're older and then for
- 27:47them? Can you even imagine?
- 27:49Yeah, and that's where I can sit back like, you know, you're in
- 27:53your 40s. I just turned 40.
- 27:54I'm like, I'm already probably more than halfway through this
- 27:58gig, you know what I mean? Like this meat machine is run
- 28:02half its course or or more. But I've got, you know, my
- 28:06nieces and nephews and and other, you know, non blood
- 28:11relations. But my relatives, you know what
- 28:13I mean? Like these kinfolk, the, these
- 28:15people who mean something to me that I'm like that I want them
- 28:19to be able to enjoy the things that I enjoyed as a kid growing
- 28:22up, right? The woods, the rivers, the
- 28:24mountains, the oceans, you know, and, and, and do so freely as
- 28:28nature intended, as it's supposed to be, without having
- 28:32to worry about all this nonsense and this garbage.
- 28:34So, you know, there is, there's so much out here that can really
- 28:37wear down on the, the human experience.
- 28:40It can wear down on our spirit and it can wear down our our our
- 28:45our ability to to be creative. So what state?
- 28:49So what state are you in? Tennessee.
- 28:52Tennessee, OK, Like Eastern Tennessee.
- 28:55Are you near? Middle.
- 28:58I'm in Middletown. I'm about 35 miles southeast of
- 29:01Nashville. My my grandpa Kratz and my step
- 29:05grandma like when I was a kid. They just moved a couple years
- 29:09ago to Missus Mississippi, closer to my one uncle, but they
- 29:18they lived in Collierville. Yeah, I'm familiar.
- 29:22Yeah, that last a bit, yeah. Yeah, it's like it was north of,
- 29:30not Nashville's up Memphis. Yeah, yeah, Memphis is wet.
- 29:35Yeah. So I was like Collierville.
- 29:36I because I used to live out. I used to live about two hours
- 29:40from Memphis in Jackson, TN, but a little.
- 29:43Yeah, I know where Jackson's at. Yeah.
- 29:45So I was about 45 minutes. I was in Hardin County, right on
- 29:48the Tennessee River, 15 minutes from Corinth, Ms. 15 minutes
- 29:53from Florence, AL, 2 hours from Memphis and Collierville.
- 29:56Was was. Yeah, I remember.
- 29:58Yeah, so I know right that area. You're about 2 1/2 hours from
- 30:02Mud Island. Yep.
- 30:05Yeah, dude, that was the. That's the weirdest sight in the
- 30:08whole world, man. I went every year.
- 30:12I was just like, especially after it rained.
- 30:14It's just like mud. Like mud, waterfall.
- 30:18Aptly named. Yep.
- 30:20Yes. Yeah, well, I've noticed, you
- 30:24know, with a lot of the music because first of all, OC and the
- 30:30Jupiter have been a music, you know, have, have been, have you
- 30:34know, the music that you've written, whether it's just you
- 30:37or whether it's been with other collaborators and, and the
- 30:42people, Right, right. Your music has been something
- 30:43that I've thoroughly enjoyed for for years.
- 30:46It's a super, it's a it's a great honor and it's a treat to
- 30:49have to, you know, to have you here to talk because I've
- 30:52listened to your music in, you know, going to sleep.
- 30:56I've listened to the music driving down the road, just all
- 31:01different kinds of locations, going on excursions, you know,
- 31:04out and out in the wilderness. So there's there's a very strong
- 31:07thread of reverence that I feel that your music has for nature
- 31:14in general and ancestral connections.
- 31:18Has that has that aspect of OC in the Jupiter.
- 31:22Has that come from, you know, your personal beliefs or is it
- 31:26has it has it kind of evolved through artistic expression?
- 31:31Kind of both more more by beliefs and what I, you know,
- 31:37experience. So, but it is like if our
- 31:42artistic expression is just the way you write and the way you do
- 31:46your art. So I'm not, I'm not doing it
- 31:50just to do art. I'm doing it because it's like,
- 31:54it's just what I want to get out.
- 31:56Like I have this feeling and when writing certain things, I
- 32:00meditate on things and like not the whole thing as a like I'll
- 32:04have a riff at like I'll have something in my head at work or
- 32:08while I'm walking or at the store or hiking or or when I'm
- 32:15doing it like an actual ritual, I'll have something in my head.
- 32:18And if it comes back, then maybe it's meant for me to start
- 32:21working on it, you know? And then like, oh, for Lithling
- 32:27Howell and Nordleage Runescog, those two, I actually did
- 32:31rituals around everything besides the cello, obviously,
- 32:36because I didn't play it cello, but I did everything else.
- 32:39A lot of this, especially on Nordleage, I used a lot of weird
- 32:45sounds, like I used pill bottles to different things around the
- 32:50house to make noises. And then I had a bass drum and
- 32:54you. Said I used bottle.
- 32:56Pill about like like I I would find some sort of pill bottle
- 32:59like that. I had the doggy glucosamine that
- 33:02I was shaking just like shaking. Instead of a rattle.
- 33:04Really. Yeah, and I was using Shakers
- 33:07and all this other stuff. Is is definitely different.
- 33:13That's so cool. Yeah, I just find stuff around
- 33:17like a a a lot of the like wardrobe and all and healing and
- 33:24all, all kinds of other bands do stuff like that.
- 33:27But what really inspired me to do stuff like that is, believe
- 33:30it or not, Trent Reznor. Yeah.
- 33:33Because he records a lot of his stuff organically.
- 33:37Not everything, but he records a lot of his stuff organically,
- 33:40and he manipulates it through his synthesizers.
- 33:44I'm a big synth guy. I love Goblin over I love old
- 33:50old too, but I mean, but I'm a big like I like that synth wave,
- 33:56dark wave sound, but I'm also I love dark industrial where that
- 34:02slow drone industrial and I I just like I've been getting into
- 34:08author and punisher a lot recently and I am blown.
- 34:13I was I'm like an also because I'm trying to I'm formulating my
- 34:20side prod like a side project based off of OC and Jupiter
- 34:24where I could just tour with me, maybe me and Elise here and
- 34:28there, but it but if I wanted to play out just with me, I could
- 34:32do a couple of OC songs, but I'm going to have a couple songs
- 34:36doing that. Yeah, which I write all the OC
- 34:40stuff. I've toured OC with just me
- 34:43before, but over the years it just doesn't feel touring as OC.
- 34:49Like I feel like I have to have Chris with me now.
- 34:52That's just what it is. It's just we've been to Europe
- 34:55twice and I'm like, I just, we played all these festivals and I
- 35:03just think for OC we need the three of us no matter what.
- 35:07Yeah. Even though I write a lot of
- 35:09stuff, I just that's just how I feel with that.
- 35:12So this project, which I I'm basing it off my old stage name,
- 35:17Sean death, but it's S death. OK, it's dot death and it's
- 35:23going to be similar ambient. I might touch some industrial
- 35:29drone in there, but I mean, it's going to be mostly that with
- 35:34acoustic, you know, similar stuff, but there'll be a little
- 35:39bit more heavier songs on there, but there's going to be mostly
- 35:42stuff like OC. Yeah, stuff.
- 35:44But more, more ambient driven, you know, and more, you know,
- 35:53Yeah. Feeling that, yeah, just.
- 35:55Well, it's funny you mentioned over 'cause I discovered over
- 36:00from it. It sounds random but like I'm a
- 36:04huge Lamb of God fan and have been a very long time and Randy
- 36:08Bligh probably like 15 years ago almost now made a post on his
- 36:15Instagram about over. OK.
- 36:20And I was like, what is this? And I like, I checked them out
- 36:23and I'm like, holy shit, right? Like I was super impressed,
- 36:28'cause he was a fan or something like that.
- 36:29And I'm like, OK, And then when I and then, you know, 'cause OC
- 36:33and the Jupiter you, you that that's about a decade now,
- 36:37right, 2015. Yeah, that's yeah.
- 36:43So like I named it, yeah. I had known about over and then
- 36:47I heard some like OC songs and I'm like, oh shit, you know,
- 36:50like I I can hear some some some over influences in there, you
- 36:54know. Especially with the sense stuff
- 36:56like stuff he does on his synth, it's pretty wicked.
- 37:01Yeah, definitely. So Blade Runner, The Running
- 37:05Man, we all grew up with those movies and I love the music for
- 37:08that stuff. Oh yeah.
- 37:10I've always have, but I also love all those 80s analog sense
- 37:15sounds like. Yeah, I'm sure you've heard of
- 37:17the Midnight. Yeah, yeah.
- 37:20Yeah. Yeah, buddy of mine, buddy of
- 37:23mine showed me Prom Night, the song Prom Night, and I was like
- 37:27instant fan and I just went through like.
- 37:30Started streaming. Your entire catalog and entire
- 37:32discography. You.
- 37:33Know dude? The movie Driver.
- 37:36The movie Driver, that it's not a recent movie, but it's recent
- 37:39the past 15 years. Ryan Gosling.
- 37:43Yeah, yeah, yeah. The music, and that's awesome.
- 37:46It's it's just. Yeah.
- 37:49See with movies if it doesn't have the correct music it could
- 37:54ruin the movie. Even if it's a good movie like
- 37:57the it's that's. The soundtrack.
- 38:00The soundtrack, you got to get that feel.
- 38:02Yeah. I've watched movies where at
- 38:05least they have drones or something going in the
- 38:07background, like Valhalla rising has a lot of drone stuff, but it
- 38:11it has it captures you, but it also has artistic stuff going
- 38:15on. You know, right.
- 38:17What's that Black Sun movie something or it's like about
- 38:24some sort of a it's kind of like the movie Sunrise or it it has
- 38:33this like psychedelic feel about it where they're in this, I
- 38:38don't know, it might have to do with aliens or something.
- 38:41This weird guy's all creepy in it and it's just like the Doctor
- 38:46and he has this one person in the chamber and he's just like
- 38:51just watching her and all. Kinds of.
- 38:53I can envision it. I'm just, yeah, it's the title.
- 38:56I forget the name of it we I've watched it recently.
- 38:59Yeah, people listen or watch this, throw it down in the
- 39:01comments if, if any of that makes sense.
- 39:04Yeah, but I. Get the name of it.
- 39:06It's it's it. See, it feels like that
- 39:09Suspiria, like it has that Suspiria feel about it.
- 39:13Right. You know, the way it's shot and
- 39:15all the kinds of. I don't know about you, but like
- 39:17when you were, when you were younger, did you ever go to, did
- 39:22you ever buy movie soundtracks on like a cassette or on CD?
- 39:27Oh yeah, yeah, that's mine. Yeah.
- 39:30The first one I owned, I think, Well, no, I can't say that
- 39:34because, well, the first one I bought that I had was Labyrinth.
- 39:39Nice. And I was, I'm I could still
- 39:42sing that. I could sing that whole movie
- 39:45front to back. I'm a big Bully fan.
- 39:49So yeah, dude. But yeah, I I still love Yeah.
- 39:53It's one of my favorite movies still.
- 39:55It's I mean, it's a cult classic, right?
- 39:57Can't holds holds up. It does.
- 40:02And it's in terms of like music holding up, you know, over time.
- 40:05It's interesting because like your music or you know, I've
- 40:09been exposed to, I'll say, you know, we'll say OC and the
- 40:11drooper, right. The sound balances kind of like
- 40:14between ancient folk and modern ambient.
- 40:19Atmospheres, right? So how, how have you approached
- 40:22this to achieve that kind of harmony between old and the new?
- 40:28Well, Luthling, Howl and Nordlege, there is whole rituals
- 40:34around those two albums, like they're supposed to be.
- 40:38I didn't plan Norlege after, but I kind of had a plan after
- 40:41Osling to do something similar to that, to have a, you know,
- 40:47two or three. This is the third.
- 40:49There's there has to be some the number 39 and 20 seven 9 * 3 is
- 40:5527 and. Numerology.
- 40:58Numerology and it's speaking from the a higher self and a
- 41:05ritualistic purpose. So, and then I still took the
- 41:11same ideas and just did my folk songs and then had little bits
- 41:17of here and there of that in between songs that were
- 41:21instrumental and stuff. I would tell Chris like in
- 41:24Balder, I, I remember when I recorded a thing and Chris was
- 41:30like, hey, he hit me up. He's like, are you looking for a
- 41:33session artist? I was like, well, check this
- 41:36out. See if you want to put anything
- 41:37on top of it. Like, you know, it might be cool
- 41:40to get some cello. I'll mix you down on it.
- 41:43Yeah, man. And then I was just like, for
- 41:46for this song, you got to have that Braveheart feel.
- 41:51I told him he's just like, he sent me a bunch of passes, like
- 41:54do this here and there. And he's like, OK.
- 41:57And I was just like, yeah. And then since then, since we've
- 41:59been playing live and stuff, he actually does a couple things
- 42:02different near to end, which are I like even more than album.
- 42:06I wish he would have done on the album.
- 42:08But the album is still good. But it's cool though, that he
- 42:11does it live because now for live it gives a different feel.
- 42:15It not a it gives the same feel, but it also gives people more,
- 42:21Yeah. Live.
- 42:22So, right. And I'm a big person with when
- 42:24you have something live, give them something more.
- 42:30But it's, you know, I don't have a percussionist with us when we
- 42:33go on tour. Like I have friends that could
- 42:36play a percussion, but it I don't have a lot of money, you
- 42:39know what I mean? Got to work with what you got.
- 42:42Well, you know who else, as far as you know, poets of our
- 42:46generation, performers. You know who else did something
- 42:48very similar to what you're describing in terms of, you
- 42:52know, what you get from the studio recording is not the same
- 42:55as what you get from a live Jim Morrison, man.
- 42:59Oh yeah, but but but Jim used to.
- 43:02When he first started The Doors, he used to.
- 43:04He went on stage with his back turn like audience.
- 43:07Yeah. 'Cause I don't, I think it was a
- 43:10shy thing, but then he broke through to the other side,
- 43:17'cause people. Are strange man yeah gotta ride
- 43:19you gotta ride through that storm.
- 43:21What other, what other, what other door reference could we
- 43:23the doors reference could we give here?
- 43:25But yeah. I'm a Doris fan.
- 43:26I just I'm a big Pink Floyd fan, but I was AI was a huge Roger
- 43:32Waters fan for the longest time, but.
- 43:35Yeah. I am so for Palestine like I've
- 43:40like I am against Israel. I don't politics is, you know,
- 43:47it slips out at me when I talk, but I mean, I'm for Palestine,
- 43:51but I am. I don't like how he's capital.
- 43:55It seems like he's capitalizing off the fact.
- 43:59Right. Yeah, that's it.
- 44:00Just feels like he's doing stuff that's good, but something seems
- 44:05ingenuine and now I'm like taking all the David Gilmour
- 44:09stuff. Like I love David Gilmour stuff.
- 44:10I'm a big Richard Wright fan. That's another reason why I play
- 44:13keyboards and I he all this stuff, like David Gilmore's just
- 44:22even keel and he's just like, I don't want to work with the guy.
- 44:25He's an asshole. Yeah, yeah.
- 44:28Basically he. Doesn't say that, but he's
- 44:29basically like. And I was just like, no, I
- 44:32that's the reason why I play bass and sing.
- 44:34I love Roger Waters. He's a song construction.
- 44:37He's theatrical. But over the years, like, I
- 44:41realized I was just like, wow, yeah, David Gilmer's right, you
- 44:45know? Yeah, something there about it,
- 44:48you know, you know, music has such a a powerful role in in all
- 44:54of our lives. It you know, when you said, you
- 44:56know, when you were talking before about what Chris added to
- 44:59to Balder, you know, and I go like that is just one song that
- 45:03always speaks out in my mind because the first time I heard
- 45:06it, it's like, I don't even you know, you don't need lyrics.
- 45:08Just close your eyes, listen to the, to the emotion that's being
- 45:12conveyed through the melody. And you can't help but feel the,
- 45:17the, the pain and, and, and the agony and, and the sorrow.
- 45:21And then this sort of like, I don't know, revival in a way.
- 45:25It's, it's such a it, it takes you through so many different
- 45:31emotional experiences. So like, I was going to ask you
- 45:33if like, yeah, man, I appreciate you for all.
- 45:37First of all, for, for having, for, for providing the world
- 45:40with that piece. You know, I mean, it is, but I
- 45:42was going to ask you like, what if you had like a track or an
- 45:46album that you feel for OC, right?
- 45:49For for the OC stuff, Do you? Is there like a track or an
- 45:52album that you feel best represents your sort of
- 45:56spiritual and musical journey up to this point?
- 46:00Well, I mean, it's basically it's every album leading for it,
- 46:05you know, like Larvatis is right now.
- 46:08It's and it has that old ambient feel to it.
- 46:12Like it it, there's more, there's a there's only a couple
- 46:16songs with singing on it. Yeah.
- 46:19And there's more distant Oz in the background.
- 46:23And Elise did vocals on a, She did backing vocals on the like
- 46:29Lurking Beneath the Pines and Thank You.
- 46:33And but she actually was the only vocalist on a howling
- 46:40mountain. You know, I am the howling
- 46:43mountain. And and she's a, what she says
- 46:49is you don't go unnoticed. And if you look in the lyrics
- 46:54book, it's it's written on there.
- 46:56It's like you don't go unnoticed.
- 46:59I didn't write that. She wrote that.
- 47:01And it's supposed to mean like, you don't go unnoticed, like
- 47:04everybody. Yeah, it's.
- 47:06Supposed to hit like no, just the words, not just the music.
- 47:10Like you don't go unnoticed like. 4 words yeah with.
- 47:15A forward. With, with a, with a powerful
- 47:18message behind it, you know, yeah, you don't have to.
- 47:21You don't have to be, you know, you don't have to write big long
- 47:25things lyrically to get. Those that sentence just
- 47:28powerful in itself. And she wrote that.
- 47:31I I didn't write that, she wrote that.
- 47:33Well, props to Elise. I know she was.
- 47:34We had we had initially planned on her being here for this, for
- 47:37this episode, but yeah, we I hope, you know, if it doesn't
- 47:40get back to her through the episode, at least convey.
- 47:43Oh, I will when I go upstairs. Yeah, yeah.
- 47:48So OK, so we're getting close to time.
- 47:49I want to be respectful. I know you had I appreciate you
- 47:52that. So really quick though, how do
- 47:54you see you know what you're doing, your art, the music
- 47:58fitting into a broader revival of folk music and heathen
- 48:03inspired music or Pagan inspired music happening in the world
- 48:06today or in the future? I see a we play with many
- 48:12different folk bands, metal bands, many different bangs fest
- 48:21when people awesome people and musicians.
- 48:26I just, I, I see this fitting just about anywhere besides
- 48:31like, in a place where people just don't respect each other,
- 48:38you know what I mean? A common place that people.
- 48:41Can common place, but I mean there there's gonna be places
- 48:43where it's not you know, you know, but I mean at least some
- 48:50like Cascadia Midsummer fire in the mountains like that.
- 48:53That's good peoples. We played in Gota for Germany
- 48:59for like with a bunch of, you know, people from the label and
- 49:09put it on and they were all it was.
- 49:12It was like family and. If you ever guys, if you ever,
- 49:15if you could ever make it to mid Garsh bloat.
- 49:17I would love to go there, yeah, but hopefully we'll get that
- 49:27offer. That'll be great.
- 49:28I Europe, everyone's been amazingly light hearted and
- 49:34awesome. Pacific Northwest, everyone's
- 49:38always been the time we were out there, even in Wyoming when we
- 49:43played fire in the mountains before they moved to Montana.
- 49:46They they're all good people. I made friends, like lifelong
- 49:51friends that you know I'll be friends with probably till the
- 49:55day I die. Speaking of Cascadian Midsummer,
- 50:01they their land, this started zoning a part of it on their
- 50:10land in Washington state and they did a GoFundMe and they
- 50:15just reached your goal. So fantastic.
- 50:19Yeah, and it, it was like $20,000 goal, like to reach the.
- 50:25It was they're like, what are we going to do?
- 50:27And it's my friend Lucian's and a few of them that is their land
- 50:33and I think it's her mom's land or something.
- 50:35And man, but that's where the cascading Midsummer.
- 50:40It's amazing. If you ever want to, it's
- 50:44amazing. Time to go.
- 50:45There are vendors, speakers, bands, 2 stages.
- 50:49You walk through the trails to get to the stage and then you
- 50:52walk around to the next stage or go there the other side for the
- 50:55stage. It's like off the beaten, it's
- 50:58way off the beaten path. That's that's like an
- 50:59understatement. I've heard about it from another
- 51:03performer, musician craftsperson Chris Welsh, Sun and Moondance.
- 51:09Yeah, he's a, he's a good, he's good people.
- 51:12Yeah, he is. I've had him on the show before
- 51:14and I've talked to him through different areas.
- 51:16But yeah, he, I believe last time I spoke with him on this
- 51:19show a couple seasons ago or whatever, he he had mentioned it
- 51:22and it sounds like a wonderful time.
- 51:25He's another person that plays from his heart.
- 51:27Yes, you write stuff. Chris is a genuine guy man, like
- 51:30I've never met him in person, would love to one day but he
- 51:33just seems like a real dude you know?
- 51:36He's, he's, yeah, he he lives near Asheville, I think, right
- 51:40North Carolina. He, well, last I knew he did.
- 51:44I don't know, like I've seen some stuff where he's been
- 51:46spending a lot of more time out in Colorado recently.
- 51:49I don't know if he's making a permanent move or, or what, but
- 51:54or back and forth between. But yeah, I know people.
- 51:59I'm very good friends with people who have spent time with
- 52:01him in person and the stories check out right as genuine as I
- 52:04feel he is, like they're like we've spent time with him in
- 52:07person. And yeah, he he's, he's a good
- 52:09guy. So Chris, if you listen or or
- 52:11hear this, you man. I met him once, he he came to
- 52:17our Asheville show and he is stand up guy.
- 52:21He's a good guy. And yeah, yeah.
- 52:23Dude, nice man. Well, listen, I'm going to ask
- 52:26you I I had some things I want to ask you, like rapid fire
- 52:30stuff, but I know it's close to time and I want to get you off.
- 52:32To rapid fire me for a second, that's fine.
- 52:34I'll give you like, I'll give you like 2.
- 52:36OK, what's one word that best describes OC in the Jupiter?
- 52:44The love for nature. Well, nature.
- 52:47One word, nature. Nature.
- 52:50Yeah, I mean, that's the first thing that comes to mind.
- 52:53I'm always talking about it. It is nature.
- 52:55It's the growth, the roots. Yeah.
- 52:58Growing up, like your veins in your arm being connected to, you
- 53:04know, nature for sure. And giving back, paying, paying
- 53:08it forward. Right.
- 53:10Yeah, being that good, a good custodian, good caretaker, good
- 53:14stewards. Yeah, awesome man, love that
- 53:17answer. And then the last one would be
- 53:19as if you could we talked earlier about soundtracks and
- 53:22how great films and stuff. Could you know, if if you don't
- 53:25have a good soundtrack, it kind of makes the movie suck.
- 53:28So if if if you could soundtrack a film or even a game, Video
- 53:32game perhaps. What would you like to have OC
- 53:36and the Jupiter featured in film or game?
- 53:40Film, I'm always feeling like I don't really play games like I
- 53:47I'm watching. I just started Fallout right
- 53:49before we started talking because I played four out
- 53:52Fallout 4 and that's been years. But it takes me a long time to
- 53:56play a game because I'll just like, and I haven't done one in
- 53:59three years, but it would take me like a couple years because I
- 54:02spend more time doing other things.
- 54:04Like I want to be in nature and do this.
- 54:07And you know, I'd rather be disconnected to electronics as
- 54:12much as possible. I.
- 54:13Heard that man. So and but yeah, it would be
- 54:20movies, sci-fi to some backwoods stuff or.
- 54:28There you go. Or, you know, even being on
- 54:31Vikings, 'cause we were, we had two songs on Vikings.
- 54:34One was kind of mixed in. Second, the last episode of last
- 54:38season, I just heard a chain. I I didn't think I didn't think
- 54:42it was in there, but I had to listen to it and I heard the
- 54:46chains and the the drones. It it's Valus, blot off the
- 54:49first record. Oh shit, no way.
- 54:53But it's mixed in during the rain scene when I like Ivar is
- 54:57in the battle thing and you hear the chains kind of and I was
- 55:00just like, I couldn't I couldn't hear it for the longest time.
- 55:05I was like I maybe they just used the one song like during
- 55:09when Ingrid when she cut her, she's making the blood stave.
- 55:13That's the OC song, the scuff. Dude.
- 55:18Yeah, I. Didn't even, I didn't even know
- 55:20because I I kind of fell off the Vikings wagon after the first
- 55:24couple of seasons. So I didn't, I didn't realize
- 55:27that that y'all were featured in that.
- 55:28That's awesome, man. Yeah, we were on, we were on
- 55:32episode 17, Wrath of Medusa, when Ingrid's cutting hers, her,
- 55:38herself to make the blood offering.
- 55:41Yeah. Thoris and then the you know.
- 55:47Dang, yeah, that's pretty awesome, man.
- 55:50I mean, I don't think I don't know many people that I've
- 55:51talked to that can say that they were featured in one of the
- 55:55Vikings, you know, episodes. So that's that's pretty cool.
- 56:00That's for sharing that. And Speaking of sharing, since
- 56:02I'm about to wrap this up here with you, for people that don't
- 56:06know about OC in the Jupiter or anything that you got going on
- 56:10kind of rolling out the red carpet for you here, Sean, where
- 56:13can people find you? What have you got going on that
- 56:16you'd like to plug? Anything coming down music wise,
- 56:19show wise, anything that you'd like to to share with the
- 56:22people? We are one thing that we're
- 56:25planning on we're going to be playing a fest in southern Ohio
- 56:28during Solstice, but more info is to come.
- 56:33So and and we are also we're going to be recording sometime
- 56:42soon. Just nothing will probably not
- 56:46be out until late 27 at least. We're going to actually, we're
- 56:54going to do a lot to this next one.
- 56:55I think so. And in the meantime, I'm going
- 57:01to Elise like I play bass in Elise's one sludge band that she
- 57:10fronts and plays guitar called a vowel.
- 57:14But I also something in more the OC vein.
- 57:16I have that S death stuff that I'm going to be doing here
- 57:19shortly, but been keeping it kind of yeah, on Instagram is
- 57:25the handles S death incantations, like S dot death
- 57:30incantations. So but yeah, it's going to have
- 57:36more ambient, but still folk driven stuff, some industrial
- 57:42stuff. We'll see where it lands.
- 57:44I have some demo stuff that's going to be released 1st and
- 57:46then I'm going to record the better stuff.
- 57:49But I mean, I for OC, we're definitely we have, I have a
- 57:56handful of songs, but I want to, I want to deconstruct them and
- 58:02reconstruct them again and again.
- 58:04I'm thinking I'm going to try. I want to make this one even
- 58:08more special. Larvatis I think is, you know,
- 58:12it's getting good praise, but I think a lot's going on in the
- 58:15world right now. The point where, you know, a lot
- 58:17of people are like, oh shit, I didn't know this came out, you
- 58:20know, because all these releases, but also everybody's
- 58:25hurting right now. So and over stimulation of stuff
- 58:32going back and forth. Like I get it like I'm over
- 58:35stimulated as well though and I'm I try to concentrate on
- 58:40other things. So I hear you man.
- 58:43And it's a, it's a familiar feeling for a lot of us in
- 58:46different ways, but it's familiar.
- 58:48But we'll definitely include some links for people to to
- 58:51follow you on your social. So obviously Instagram and
- 58:54Facebook website for any upcoming releases and news that
- 58:59they can find. John.
- 59:01Eisenwald their their web store, their website and if you
- 59:05subscribe to their newsletters they will send stuff about OC
- 59:10and Egg Lock and all all those other fans that are Eisenwald.
- 59:15Part of their family. Yeah.
- 59:17Yeah. We'll include the label
- 59:20information in the show notes and stuff, so people listening,
- 59:23check the show notes for the watchers here on Patreon.
- 59:26Check down in the description for the links.
- 59:29And obviously, if you know OC and the Jupiter, you're already
- 59:32kind of part of the no. But if you're not and you're new
- 59:35to this, definitely follow along.
- 59:37Check out all of OCS and the OC and the Jupiter's work, Sean and
- 59:41Elise and Chris. Really great stuff.
- 59:44Sean, really appreciate you being here.
- 59:46Is there anything else you want to say before I wrap this up?
- 59:50I just appreciate everyone who's been listening.
- 59:53Guys mean a lot. I didn't, you know, it's part of
- 59:58my journey. But I mean, I hope everybody
- 1:00:02finds himself their pathway out of the jumble mess.
- 1:00:07What's going on right now? So.
- 1:00:09Yeah, it's a moment in time. People will.
- 1:00:12Get and it's around the world too.
- 1:00:13It's not just here. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:16This, this, this, this, this show gets, you know, audiences,
- 1:00:19the audience of this show are are are worldwide too.
- 1:00:22So you know, we hear you. What did what did Elise say?
- 1:00:26You are? What did she say in that?
- 1:00:28You don't go unnoticed. You don't go unnoticed.
- 1:00:32What a beautiful phrase. What a beautiful sentence, and a
- 1:00:34powerful 1. So yes, thank you, Sean.
- 1:00:37Stick around for just about two minutes.
- 1:00:38I'll, I'll, I'll wrap up with you in a moment.
- 1:00:40But for everybody else that's listening, watching this show,
- 1:00:43your support is greatly appreciated.
- 1:00:45Patreon.com/midgard musings for the listeners.

- 1:00:51support in that way, it's just a dollar pledge.
- 1:00:53Thank you very much for being here.
- 1:00:55Thank you, Sean. Thank.
- 1:00:56You this week, it's been great to have you.
- 1:00:59So for everybody else, thank you.
- 1:01:01We'll see you in the next one. And until then, may the gods
- 1:01:04continue to notice you, and may your ancestors smile upon you.
- 1:02:09None.
