- 0:00Speaker 1: For everybody here, can I do one final question before
- 0:03Speaker 1: we leave?
- 0:05Speaker 2: If you had to pick four stocks that are unrelated
- 0:08Speaker 2: to the AI trade, which four do you like? Let's
- 0:12Speaker 2: say for someone who may be a little bit more
- 0:14Speaker 2: seasoned or they're older and they may be afraid of
- 0:17Speaker 2: the technology. What are four non-related AI companies that you
- 0:22Speaker 2: would have them potentially lean on?
- 0:24Speaker 1: And maybe we can all answer the question.
- 0:27Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:27Speaker 4: I'll go first on that. I mean, I talked about
- 0:29Speaker 4: the oil sector. Now, I'm not a big investor in
- 0:32Speaker 4: the oil and energy sector, especially the drillers and the refiners.
- 0:35Speaker 4: I'm married to a conservation biologist. So we have some
- 0:38Speaker 4: rules around that. That said, you can't ignore the profits
- 0:41Speaker 4: and the fact that those profits are going to continue
- 0:43Speaker 4: to flow as long as we have this conflict going on.
- 0:45Speaker 4: And nobody thinks this is coming to an end anytime soon.
- 0:49Speaker 4: So find your way around the oil patch with a
- 0:51Speaker 4: high dividend rate. high cashflow company right now that's doing
- 0:54Speaker 4: very well and hopefully not destroying the planet in the process.
- 0:58Speaker 4: There's plenty of them out there. I was just looking
- 0:59Speaker 4: at the 52, the all-time highs. There's five energy companies
- 1:03Speaker 4: on there. And I shared the chart of the refiners.
- 1:06Speaker 4: Pick your refiner that has the most cashflow, right? And
- 1:09Speaker 4: the best profit margins. And I would say that would
- 1:11Speaker 4: be a good stock to buy. And there's plenty of
- 1:13Speaker 4: them on that list. Marathon, I know is on that
- 1:14Speaker 4: list and others. Also, I'm a believer that water is
- 1:18Speaker 4: going to be the next, I'm not, Super intelligent telling
- 1:22Speaker 4: you this, but water is going to be one of
- 1:23Speaker 4: the most precious resources out there because we're going to
- 1:26Speaker 4: need it for just about everything. And that means private
- 1:28Speaker 4: water companies and privatized water companies or the private equity
- 1:33Speaker 4: companies that own the private water companies, because I think
- 1:36Speaker 4: that's a precious commodity and that's only going to get
- 1:38Speaker 4: more expensive going down the line here. Then you look
- 1:41Speaker 4: across the financial sector and it's about being big, right?
- 1:44Speaker 4: Being big in banking is beautiful. Boring is good, too.
- 1:48Speaker 4: But the biggest, baddest, most profitable bank out there is
- 1:52Speaker 4: JPMorgan Chase. And there's a reason that stock kind of
- 1:55Speaker 4: was near all-time highs earlier this year. I expect it
- 1:58Speaker 4: to come back to those all-time highs when we get
- 2:01Speaker 4: some sort of a stasis with the economy right now.
- 2:04Speaker 4: And then looking like way outside out of all this,
- 2:07Speaker 4: sometimes you got to look at some companies that are
- 2:09Speaker 4: just doing something very different from the rest of the crowd.
- 2:12Speaker 4: And when I look at some of the retailers out there,
- 2:16Speaker 4: You know, it's a very tough time to be a
- 2:18Speaker 4: retailer in a retail environment. That said, there are some
- 2:21Speaker 4: of the grocery chains that are kind of bending the
- 2:24Speaker 4: business model a little bit that are interesting to look
- 2:26Speaker 4: at right now. I'd take a close look at those,
- 2:28Speaker 4: especially with the commodity prices. And then I would also
- 2:31Speaker 4: look at the commodity players as well. The Grangers of
- 2:33Speaker 4: the world, the ADMs of the world, they are dealing
- 2:36Speaker 4: with very high corn and high wheat prices, but they
- 2:38Speaker 4: also have pricing flexibility. That's been a tough sector to
- 2:42Speaker 4: invest in. Healthcare as well. but we're also on the
- 2:44Speaker 4: verge of a lot of new developments in healthcare that
- 2:47Speaker 4: are being spurred by these cancer drugs and GLP-1s. So
- 2:50Speaker 4: there's some healthcare and biotech companies out there that I
- 2:52Speaker 4: would keep a close eye on, and especially the ones,
- 2:55Speaker 4: not the GLP-1 makers, though that run already happened, but
- 2:58Speaker 4: what are the knock-on effects of GLP-1s going down the
- 3:00Speaker 4: line and who's going to benefit from that? I would
- 3:03Speaker 4: look at some of those companies in sectors that are
- 3:07Speaker 4: addressing this new marketplace. And that's kind of where I would,
- 3:10Speaker 4: you know, As a speculative bet right now, that's where
- 3:13Speaker 4: I'd be looking, outside of the air and tech build out.
- 3:16Speaker 1: That's a great answer. Thank you, my brother. That was detailed, man.
- 3:20Speaker 3: Thank you. Thank you so much. Any last words you
- 3:22Speaker 3: want to leave with the audience?
- 3:24Speaker 4: Well, we're on Substack now. I started a new Substack.
- 3:27Speaker 4: It's called The Signal with Caleb Silver, and we have
- 3:29Speaker 4: one at Investopedia called Value Add. We're always trying to
- 3:31Speaker 4: find new ways to connect with our audiences. And then
- 3:34Speaker 4: I've been doing a lot of work. as the chief
- 3:37Speaker 4: business editor, people across our brands just launched a brand
- 3:39Speaker 4: new podcast called Mega Trends in Medicine, where we're looking
- 3:43Speaker 4: at big trends like GLP-1s and the ripple effects they have,
- 3:46Speaker 4: not just through the medical community, because this is for
- 3:48Speaker 4: health professionals, but down the line. So GLP-1s is a
- 3:52Speaker 4: great example. That's impacting everything from fashion to travel to
- 3:56Speaker 4: the way doctors operate. We're having a lot less surgeries
- 3:59Speaker 4: and knee surgeries and back surgeries, but it's also greatly
- 4:02Speaker 4: impacted the adult beverage market.
- 4:04Speaker 1: And the food market in general.
- 4:05Speaker 4: That's one of those things that just like, you know,
- 4:08Speaker 4: it starts here, but then the ripple effects end up
- 4:11Speaker 4: way down here and changes everything. So I'm watching that
- 4:13Speaker 4: sector really closely right now. We're going to do a
- 4:15Speaker 4: bunch of episodes on big trends like that called mega
- 4:18Speaker 4: trends and medicine.
- 4:21Speaker 1: I love it. Always amazing. Yes.
- 4:25Speaker 3: My brother. Thank you so much, man. Appreciate you.
- 4:28Speaker 4: Thank you guys for having me. I appreciate it. And you,
- 4:33Speaker 4: Peace out.
- 4:34Speaker 5: Damn, faded Caleb the Black like that, man? Come on up,
- 4:37Speaker 5: I got Caleb, yo. Hey, man, that's a friend of
- 4:41Speaker 5: the show, man. I feel like he's a quarterly contributor
- 4:45Speaker 5: to the show, man. Shout out to Caleb.
- 4:46Speaker 1: That's my guy. We need every three months to make sure.
- 4:48Speaker 2: And kudos to my guys from Indianapolis not kidnapping this year.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 4:51Speaker 5: We appreciate y'all. We appreciate y'all.
- 4:55Speaker 2: All right, Shadi, can we get to conspiracy hour?
- 5:00Speaker 1: Yo, you know what?
- 5:01Speaker 5: We asked Caleb the question.
- 5:02Speaker 1: What's your.
- 5:03Speaker 5: What's your fourth, your four stocks outside of AI?
- 5:05Speaker 2: I actually have eight, if I can give.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Or should I give four and give the other ones
- 5:11Speaker 1: to you?
- 5:11Speaker 5: Give four, because I feel, it's such a tough question
- 5:13Speaker 5: when I look down the list, even in my watch list,
- 5:15Speaker 5: I'm like, damn, that's AI, that's AI, that's AI. Let's
- 5:19Speaker 5: do five. Let's call it five. Let's call it five,
- 5:21Speaker 5: because we might have repeats.
- 5:23Speaker 2: Let me start where Caleb picked, JP Morgan would be
- 5:27Speaker 2: number one in banking, for sure. I don't have to
- 5:31Speaker 2: tell why Jimmy Diamond greatest banking CEO of the last
- 5:35Speaker 2: 20 years.
- 5:37Speaker 1: That's an easy win. Number two, Chevron.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Despite the ills of the business, the profit margin is
- 5:47Speaker 2: absolutely amazing. AI, Jason or not, they're going to do
- 5:50Speaker 2: incredibly well. Number three, of course, my baby, Eli Lilly.
- 5:55Speaker 2: I think, I know Novo rebranded to just Novo instead
- 5:58Speaker 2: of Novo Nordisk, but when you look at the space,
- 6:00Speaker 2: They're going to do incredibly well for the next five
- 6:02Speaker 2: or six years.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Number four would be Caterpillar.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Regardless of the AI trade or not, Caterpillar is a
- 6:09Speaker 2: strong business and they're going to do incredibly well. And
- 6:12Speaker 2: they don't need the AI trade or investment to thrive.
- 6:16Speaker 2: And then lastly, Shell. Shell company or oil adjacent is
- 6:22Speaker 2: going to do incredibly well. And if the rates continue
- 6:24Speaker 2: to go up, regardless if we have a pullback or not,
- 6:29Speaker 2: Shell is one of these companies that continues to print
- 6:31Speaker 2: good margins, good profit. If you look at the drawdown,
- 6:36Speaker 2: most important thing, look at the drawdown of these over
- 6:38Speaker 2: the last six or seven years. They've been a lot
- 6:40Speaker 2: more stable than some of the tech components as well.
- 6:44Speaker 2: So I would do J.P. Morgan, Shell, Chevron, and Eli Lilly.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Okay. All right.
- 6:50Speaker 5: I know we're going to have repeats. I definitely had J.P.
- 6:52Speaker 5: at the top of the list. I had Lilly. I
- 6:55Speaker 5: had Costco. I think that's like one of the- Costco's underrated. Yeah,
- 6:59Speaker 5: it's like a market indicator.
- 7:01Speaker 1: I had Hood.
- 7:02Speaker 5: Now, are we counting Hood in AI? Because I had
- 7:04Speaker 5: Robin Hood.
- 7:06Speaker 1: It would be adjacent.
- 7:08Speaker 5: It's adjacent, but it's not really. I mean, it has components,
- 7:12Speaker 5: but it's really fintech, and it could be considered financials
- 7:16Speaker 5: as well. So I had Robin Hood, and then I
- 7:20Speaker 5: know it's been beaten down, and it's had a tough year,
- 7:25Speaker 5: but I still like Netflix. I still like it. So
- 7:28Speaker 5: I'm going to put them in there. I'm going to
- 7:29Speaker 5: put them in there.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Shadi, what about you?
- 7:33Speaker 3: Eli Lilly, JP Morgan, iBit. That's a stock.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Okay.
- 7:38Speaker 3: It's on a stock market.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Okay.
- 7:42Speaker 3: That, to me, was actually first.
- 7:44Speaker 1: iBit?
- 7:45Speaker 3: Yeah. If I had $ 10, 000 and I said, like, you
- 7:50Speaker 3: got to put money in a stock market on a
- 7:52Speaker 3: stock that's not AI, It would probably, it would be first.
- 7:57Speaker 3: That would be my first choice. Okay. That would be
- 7:59Speaker 3: the first thing I would do. And then Eli Lilly
- 8:00Speaker 3: would be the second thing that I would do.
- 8:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:03Speaker 3: And then like you said, J.P. Morgan, you can't go
- 8:05Speaker 3: wrong against that. And then, yeah, I mean, you got
- 8:10Speaker 3: to start, you got energy. You got to go energy sector.
- 8:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 8:16Speaker 1: AZ4. Everyone put in chat, less is more.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Like regardless if you want to do two tech, two
- 8:20Speaker 2: index or not, The mistake is getting to 18, 19, 20,
- 8:26Speaker 2: 30 stocks. Because A, you're not going to put enough
- 8:28Speaker 2: capital into the right ones, or your profits are going
- 8:31Speaker 2: to be so thin. Just specialize. Specialize in maybe four
- 8:37Speaker 2: to six, and you'll be good. And the truth is,
- 8:38Speaker 2: you only need two or three really good stocks to
- 8:41Speaker 2: make a lot of money from. But once you know
- 8:44Speaker 2: those four, at the back of your hand, profit margin, threats.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Multiple moats. Because now.
- 8:51Speaker 2: you can't only just think about the moat in their industry.
- 8:54Speaker 2: You have to think about the moat when you're comparing
- 8:56Speaker 2: them to other companies. Like, so McDonald's has a moat
- 8:59Speaker 2: in real estate, but so does NVIDIA. Who has a
- 9:01Speaker 2: better moat?
- 9:03Speaker 5: NVIDIA.
- 9:04Speaker 1: You got to compare them across sector. So. Yeah.
- 9:07Speaker 5: And I still, I still love Caterpillar. I just didn't
- 9:09Speaker 5: want to repeat. That's all. Caterpillar is underrated. I think,
- 9:14Speaker 5: you know what's great? Like a year ago was when we, we,
- 9:17Speaker 5: we put that call out there for Caterpillar saying that
- 9:19Speaker 5: the business model is going to change. It's interesting. I mean,
- 9:21Speaker 5: just thinking back 12 months about how AI is changing
- 9:24Speaker 5: business models. We talked about Dell and how it changes
- 9:26Speaker 5: business model. Obviously, y'all saw the results of that. I
- 9:29Speaker 5: should have put the Caterpillar results as well. That was
- 9:31Speaker 5: like a 400% gainer, which is incredible for a company
- 9:34Speaker 5: that most people think does plowing and bulldozers and tractors
- 9:39Speaker 5: and machinery that comes with excavation. But energy has become
- 9:44Speaker 5: one of its main components. This is why you've seen
- 9:46Speaker 5: it hit its all-time high. It's had a pullback. GE,
- 9:48Speaker 5: Vinnova as well. So- I feel like even those are
- 9:51Speaker 5: AI adjacent, right? Because those companies are relying on the
- 9:53Speaker 5: energy to power data centers.
