- 0:09Speaker 1: a vegetal Podcas Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. Talking about the
- 0:20Speaker 1: Miami Dolphins and why I think this is a guaranteed
- 0:23Speaker 1: win for the new Patriots.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Do you pound the table for that?
- 0:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna pound the table sure.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Charles Woods is the cornerback that was claimed off.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Of waivers right after Chucky Trees.
- 0:33Speaker 1: I think.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Chucky Trees can. I have way too much time on
- 0:37Speaker 3: our hands anyway.
- 0:39Speaker 1: How do you feel about the string rope on them?
- 0:41Speaker 1: It seems popular now, but it makes me think of
- 0:43Speaker 1: sailor caps. I agree. I hate that style.
- 0:45Speaker 3: I don't like them.
- 0:45Speaker 1: I hate it.
- 0:46Speaker 3: But that's you know, I'm old.
- 0:48Speaker 1: This whole thing about Oh Josh is you know it
- 0:51Speaker 1: demands an accurate quarterback. We got to stop that. Every
- 0:56Speaker 1: offense demands accuracy. My goodness.
- 1:00Speaker 2: Again, I know I'm being a whiny Patriots fan right now.
- 1:02Speaker 4: It's just like, I don't want to lose the guys
- 1:04Speaker 4: they used to be on our team.
- 1:05Speaker 1: But I don't want to lose the guys who used
- 1:07Speaker 1: to be on our team traditional way, starting with whole,
- 1:10Speaker 1: current current. This is hard to say both current corn colonels,
- 1:14Speaker 1: corn colonels, they use them their whole. This is Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:19Speaker 3: Presented by Toyota's official website.

- 1:26Speaker 1: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday here
- 1:30Speaker 1: at Jillette Stadium in our final day to talk about
- 1:33Speaker 1: this big matchup coming up down in Miami, Patriots playing
- 1:38Speaker 1: the Dolphins. Both teams zero to one. Both teams, well,
- 1:42Speaker 1: I would say Miami really had a dout of a game,
- 1:44Speaker 1: but both teams, you know, very disappointed in the end
- 1:49Speaker 1: result and the way the end result came about. So
- 1:53Speaker 1: you know, I wouldn't say that both teams are desperate.
- 1:57Speaker 1: I would you.
- 1:58Speaker 5: Would, Oh really Week two, Yeah really, Yeah, we'll get it.
- 2:03Speaker 3: We'll get into a y. I think I don't think
- 2:06Speaker 3: there's much of an argument that Miami is not desperate.
- 2:08Speaker 3: I think, yeah, the ship is sinking, all.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Right, Well it's Alex, it's Deuce, it's me, it's Paul,
- 2:14Speaker 1: it's it's Evan, it's Alex and Matt in the back
- 2:19Speaker 1: pushing the buttons. Uh So let's get let's get into it.
- 2:26Speaker 1: What news do we have since we signed off yesterday
- 2:29Speaker 1: injury report and yeah, that's not good. Let's go over that.
- 2:35Speaker 5: Yeah, so Christian Gonzalez, Morgan Moses, Harold Landry Keon White
- 2:40Speaker 5: all sitting out practice yesterday foot injuries for the two veterans.
- 2:45Speaker 5: But it's Wednesday. They're they're veteran players. I'm not like
- 2:49Speaker 5: super concerned about those two. But Gonzalez is still not
- 2:52Speaker 5: practicing but the hamstring and uh, we might have seen
- 2:56Speaker 5: him on the lower field yesterday, might have not, but
- 3:00Speaker 5: still not not out there with the team. So that's disappointing,
- 3:06Speaker 5: I suppose, I mean it's disappointing.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, for sure. We saw Morgan Moses in the
- 3:11Speaker 2: locker room as we walked in yesterday.
- 3:13Speaker 5: I saw Landry as well, Like yeah, and both.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Those guys were managed throughout the summer. So I'm optimistic
- 3:19Speaker 2: that both of them will be able to play. That
- 3:21Speaker 2: those are important guys.
- 3:21Speaker 3: I would agree that I'm optimistic that they'll play. But
- 3:25Speaker 3: I was a little taken aback when the report actually
- 3:28Speaker 3: came out. I had seen everybody, you know it, EVD
- 3:31Speaker 3: had mentioned that those guys weren't out there I kind
- 3:33Speaker 3: of thought like, oh, you know, veterans, veteran day off
- 3:36Speaker 3: kind of thing. And then to see them both with
- 3:39Speaker 3: with actual injuries, I was like, oh, that's not good. Now.
- 3:42Speaker 3: I agree with both Mike and Evan. I feel like
- 3:45Speaker 3: they'll play, but they're going to be playing with something.
- 3:50Speaker 3: And again not on how you know how I always say,
- 3:53Speaker 3: you know NFL players sneaky hard to make it through
- 3:56Speaker 3: the season with an injury already and sort of stay healthy.
- 3:59Speaker 3: It's when you opened the season with an injury that's.
- 4:03Speaker 1: That's your biasn't until late November.
- 4:06Speaker 5: Yeah, I was definitely helping that it was going to
- 4:09Speaker 5: be a veteran rest and I came out of the
- 4:11Speaker 5: practice field yesterday I was like, oh, like two veteran guys.
- 4:14Speaker 5: They've been managing all summer, like probably just taking it
- 4:17Speaker 5: easy on a Wednesday, but they did have injuries. Then
- 4:21Speaker 5: Kishon Booty with that shoulder was limited in practice. I think,
- 4:26Speaker 5: uh was Marcus Jones was on there too, right, no misremembering.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Christian elis Ma Uh that was with a shoulder, map
- 4:37Speaker 3: with a neck uh in my and my boy Chucky Trees,
- 4:42Speaker 3: Chucky Trees, Yeah, full participation.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Charles Wood.
- 4:45Speaker 2: That just came to me yesterday. We always called Robert
- 4:47Speaker 2: Woods Bobby Bobby Tree, and then I didn't make Bobby
- 4:50Speaker 2: Trees up. That's what they told then. Yes, we were
- 4:52Speaker 2: jokingly just calling him chucky. And then as you were
- 4:53Speaker 2: talking about him like he's a Woods, he could be
- 4:55Speaker 2: a Trees too, So that was.
- 4:56Speaker 5: Like, yeah, So Mapoo dealt with this neck injury last year.
- 5:00Speaker 5: Seems like that's just something that he's going to have
- 5:02Speaker 5: to manage pain.
- 5:03Speaker 3: And then I hadn't thought about that.
- 5:05Speaker 5: So it's interesting to see him back on there with
- 5:09Speaker 5: a neck.
- 5:09Speaker 3: A lot of guys for the Dolphins, by the way,
- 5:11Speaker 3: not practicing. It's a train wreck down there that six
- 5:15Speaker 3: different guys didn't practice.
- 5:16Speaker 2: You didn't want to say it, go ahead and say it, well,
- 5:19Speaker 2: Storm Duck.
- 5:21Speaker 3: One of those not practicing was Storm Duck.
- 5:23Speaker 5: I'm pretty didn't know what I think he went to Oregon?
- 5:26Speaker 1: Dude?
- 5:27Speaker 4: Did he really?
- 5:29Speaker 1: Did he go to Oregon?
- 5:32Speaker 4: To go to Oregon's so funny.
- 5:34Speaker 2: It sounds like a made up Madden player, like you know,
- 5:37Speaker 2: creating your own player. He's six foot six punds and
- 5:39Speaker 2: was a four three forty storm don Now he didn't.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Go to the owner of the Miami Dolphins, get tagged
- 5:45Speaker 1: for or at least accused of offering Floras something for
- 5:50Speaker 1: tanking games.
- 5:51Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, yeah, Flora's accused him.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Yeah, Flores accused him of that.
- 5:55Speaker 2: You think we might be in that territory again. Maybe
- 5:57Speaker 2: we get catch a little break.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Really, I don't know, or what is this? Something talk
- 6:06Speaker 3: about talking.
- 6:07Speaker 1: About this before the show yesterday, and you were talking
- 6:10Speaker 1: about how Miami's been decimated by injuries, particularly in the secondary,
- 6:15Speaker 1: and I was trying to remember, didn't they let some
- 6:17Speaker 1: guys leave in the off season?
- 6:19Speaker 3: And I heard it, but you're talking like free agents?
- 6:22Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 6:22Speaker 3: Oh yeah, so that they chose not to Well, they
- 6:25Speaker 3: traded jail In Ramsey, right, but they make a fifth
- 6:28Speaker 3: Patrick back.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Yeah, but I thought they lost two notable guys in
- 6:33Speaker 1: their secondary they gotten.
- 6:34Speaker 3: By free agency. Maybe I'm not talking I'm talking about
- 6:37Speaker 3: letting guys. God like everybody loses free agents. Oh, Yvon
- 6:41Speaker 3: Holland right, who had the worst grade evidently in history
- 6:44Speaker 3: of football in Week one, by the way.
- 6:47Speaker 5: And then Ramsey gone offensively, Tron Armstead retired, yeah, and
- 6:54Speaker 5: then John who they traded John Why Smith, which I
- 6:57Speaker 5: still don't really fully understand why they did that, because
- 7:00Speaker 5: he was a big time weapon for them last year.
- 7:02Speaker 3: And that's another one of those like you in one
- 7:06Speaker 3: hand you say, well, we can let Jonah Smith go,
- 7:08Speaker 3: we don't want to sign them, and then you take
- 7:10Speaker 3: Darren Waller off the scrap heap of retirement and say, oh,
- 7:13Speaker 3: that's going to be the replacement. And oh, by the way,
- 7:15Speaker 3: big surprise, he couldn't play Week one.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Maybe that's what I'm thinking about, Like they'd let guys
- 7:21Speaker 1: go and then they brought guys to replace that clearly
- 7:23Speaker 1: weren't as good.
- 7:24Speaker 5: Yeah, the John new one was always interesting to me
- 7:27Speaker 5: because he was like the perfect compliment to Hill and waddle,
- 7:30Speaker 5: like a tight end that you know that can kind
- 7:32Speaker 5: of do the underneath over the middle stuff and catch
- 7:35Speaker 5: and run with the football in that offense. And he
- 7:38Speaker 5: had a great year for them last year, and he
- 7:40Speaker 5: traded them to Pittsburgh and I was like, what.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Do you He just can't seem to find a home,
- 7:44Speaker 2: Like he comes here, it doesn't really work end laying
- 7:48Speaker 2: out right, and then hey, I finally it's clicking for me.
- 7:50Speaker 2: They're yeah, we're gonna trade it.
- 7:51Speaker 5: He's back with Arthur Smith now he'll be fun this boy.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Yeah. So yeah, I would say that the situation in
- 7:59Speaker 1: Miami is worse than here.
- 8:02Speaker 4: Yeah, we'll say they're more desperate than for a win. Yeah,
- 8:04Speaker 4: they've been hoaching implications too.
- 8:07Speaker 2: I mean, you can make the excuse for the Patriots
- 8:09Speaker 2: that they're all new coaches and they're rebuilding, but just
- 8:13Speaker 2: McDaniels and iteration of the of the Dolphins, this is
- 8:17Speaker 2: starting to hit some bumps and iryk Kill hasn't had
- 8:21Speaker 2: a thirty yard pass and over a year. I mean,
- 8:23Speaker 2: you know, is it are they still going to be
- 8:25Speaker 2: able to resuscitate it or is it just gone bland?
- 8:28Speaker 2: And can they recapture that magic that we've seen plenty
- 8:31Speaker 2: of times against the Patriots. But you know, I think
- 8:34Speaker 2: a lot of the people outside around the league have
- 8:36Speaker 2: a much different view of the Dolphins than I do
- 8:37Speaker 2: because they've seen the Dolphins like not be able to
- 8:39Speaker 2: beat the good teams, and I've only know firsthand, just
- 8:43Speaker 2: watched them have their way with the Patriots and you know,
- 8:46Speaker 2: the last performance we had to add.
- 8:48Speaker 3: But that's really the same.
- 8:50Speaker 2: Yeah you have right, Well, like I'm just like, wow,
- 8:54Speaker 2: he's awesome, and then you watch these games against the
- 8:57Speaker 2: bad teams, correct, and you're like they can't do anything,
- 8:59Speaker 2: or the good team I'm sorry, you know, and and
- 9:01Speaker 2: you see the different.
- 9:02Speaker 3: I think that that's one of the national narratives that
- 9:05Speaker 3: is dead on. They can't win in cold weather on
- 9:08Speaker 3: the road, and they can't they can't be.
- 9:11Speaker 5: Their record like teams that would go on to be
- 9:13Speaker 5: over five hundred or make the playoffs or something like
- 9:16Speaker 5: that under McDaniel is bad. Is bad, is bad. But
- 9:19Speaker 5: they when you turn on their film, they still are fast.
- 9:23Speaker 3: I mean, they still.
- 9:24Speaker 5: Got a ton of team speed on offense, especially you
- 9:28Speaker 5: know that three headed monster hill waddle a chain. Those
- 9:31Speaker 5: guys are as explosive as anybody in the NFL. And
- 9:34Speaker 5: I still felt that way watching them last week, even
- 9:36Speaker 5: though they didn't score any points, Like you still see
- 9:38Speaker 5: those three dudes flying around on offense and if you're
- 9:42Speaker 5: not careful, like they't come out and bite you.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Aside from last week, would you say the Patriots on
- 9:47Speaker 1: paper are better suited to deal with that speed this.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Year with Al Gonzales No, I mean yeah, no John.
- 9:56Speaker 6: Jones either, John Jones you saw, I mean, I don't
- 9:58Speaker 6: know how he would have fared this year. He's a
- 10:00Speaker 6: lot older than he used to be able to. You're right,
- 10:06Speaker 6: but John Jones was really fast to throw on hill
- 10:08Speaker 6: and kind of contain him for years.
- 10:10Speaker 4: So at least we yea he.
- 10:12Speaker 5: Was one of the best guys in the league at
- 10:13Speaker 5: covering hill. They used to say track guys, you know,
- 10:16Speaker 5: put the track guys on the track guys. That was
- 10:19Speaker 5: Jonathan Jones. But I really feel like with Tua though,
- 10:22Speaker 5: it's it's the middle of the field and it's attacking
- 10:24Speaker 5: the linebackers in coverage, Like that's how we always dices
- 10:26Speaker 5: the Patriots up is his inbreakers and the crossers over
- 10:29Speaker 5: the middle, and it's Jelani Tavai and Jawan Bentley trying
- 10:32Speaker 5: to cover in space.
- 10:34Speaker 1: In that respect, Are they better suited?
- 10:36Speaker 3: I would like.
- 10:37Speaker 5: I would like to think so. But to Paul's point, like,
- 10:39Speaker 5: I don't think those linebackers last week. Yeah, played very
- 10:43Speaker 5: well last week, so we'll see. But in theory, that's
- 10:46Speaker 5: the idea, like that's the way that they've built the
- 10:49Speaker 5: defense and what's supposed to happen if this goes right
- 10:53Speaker 5: for Mike Rable, But it didn't necessarily look that way
- 10:57Speaker 5: last week.
- 10:58Speaker 2: It's one of the biggest like head scratches. I have
- 10:59Speaker 2: not to bring Bill Belicheck up, But how did he
- 11:02Speaker 2: never solve to like just a guy that was known
- 11:05Speaker 2: early in the going like he's oh he's confounded peyton man,
- 11:11Speaker 2: but at least like I mean, I could say that,
- 11:13Speaker 2: but maybe the least thing you'd give him is that
- 11:15Speaker 2: he's a good defensive coordinator and then he would understand
- 11:18Speaker 2: how to shut a guy down. And if he faced him,
- 11:21Speaker 2: I guess it would be six times that he didn't
- 11:23Speaker 2: have any answer to it.
- 11:24Speaker 3: Was gonna be. And this is a different kind of
- 11:26Speaker 3: an argument, but I think he could go down as
- 11:28Speaker 3: one of the most sort of enigmatic.
- 11:31Speaker 2: Yeah, polarizing.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Polarizing is probably not the right word, but confusing, well,
- 11:37Speaker 3: just I don't know miss misunderstood talents Like is he good?
- 11:42Speaker 3: Is he not good? Is it a product or the
- 11:44Speaker 3: speed in the system? Because you're right, you see what
- 11:48Speaker 3: he does. You see how he throws with anticipation. He
- 11:51Speaker 3: kind of doesn't doesn't have a big league arm. It
- 11:54Speaker 3: looks like you could probably get a few picks every
- 11:56Speaker 3: once in a while. But yet he has a lot
- 12:02Speaker 3: of success and like you said, like Belichick is obviously
- 12:05Speaker 3: a tremendous defensive mind, and he never really seemed to
- 12:09Speaker 3: come up with the real And you know, I'm neutral.
- 12:13Speaker 1: I've compared to UH in the past, to Drew Brees.
- 12:16Speaker 1: I see a lot of similarities in their game. Do
- 12:19Speaker 1: you agree.
- 12:20Speaker 3: I think they both throw with a you're not the
- 12:24Speaker 3: same height a lot better. I understand why every.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Everything seems similar. But so the why Breese had so
- 12:32Speaker 1: much more success than Tua, Like why is that? Like
- 12:37Speaker 1: I I see their games is very similar. Couldn't win
- 12:41Speaker 1: the big ones with no he won one big one inside.
- 12:45Speaker 5: But they when they when Tua was coming out of college,
- 12:49Speaker 5: I would say more post hip injury than pre hip injury.
- 12:52Speaker 5: But when he was coming out of college, like the
- 12:55Speaker 5: ceiling comp was Drew Brees. For a lot of people
- 12:57Speaker 5: like lefty Drew Brees.
- 12:59Speaker 3: But that was what he was going to be if
- 13:02Speaker 3: he was I could see what your comp is coming from.
- 13:06Speaker 1: I agree with you.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Okay, Yeah, there's.
- 13:10Speaker 5: A lot of lefty Drew Brees comps in college. But
- 13:15Speaker 5: I think a big reason for it. And I know
- 13:16Speaker 5: Drew Brees had some injuries too, but his out of
- 13:20Speaker 5: structure playmaking went out the window when that hip injury
- 13:23Speaker 5: happened in college and it turned him in. He's a
- 13:25Speaker 5: great instructure quarterback, but he doesn't have the mobility or
- 13:29Speaker 5: the arm talent anymore to create out of struggle.
- 13:34Speaker 1: The injuries well for.
- 13:38Speaker 3: A career changing injury.
- 13:39Speaker 5: Their rotator cuff injury was bad. But I just think
- 13:42Speaker 5: that that's early Alabama to a was a dual threat
- 13:47Speaker 5: quarterback and he and.
- 13:49Speaker 3: He could run. Yeah Alabama.
- 13:51Speaker 5: I mean, he's incredibly talented. That's why everybody thought he
- 13:54Speaker 5: was going to go number one overall in that draft
- 13:55Speaker 5: before he got hurt. When he injured the hip, he
- 14:00Speaker 5: his mobility went out the door a little bit. So
- 14:03Speaker 5: he's great in structure though. I mean, he's really good
- 14:06Speaker 5: running this offense. He really understands all the motions and
- 14:09Speaker 5: the deception that they're trying to do. He's great with
- 14:12Speaker 5: play faking. He's grows with anticipation, like Paul said, probably
- 14:16Speaker 5: better than any quarterback in the league. But if you
- 14:19Speaker 5: can get him off the spot, off the first read,
- 14:23Speaker 5: off the middle of the field and just kind of
- 14:25Speaker 5: make him make plays, then you have a chance against him.
- 14:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:30Speaker 5: I don't know why the Patriots are never able to
- 14:32Speaker 5: do it or haven't been able to do it. I
- 14:34Speaker 5: probably go back to team speed, Like I just think
- 14:37Speaker 5: they've been so much faster than the Patriots on offense
- 14:40Speaker 5: and that's been a big problem.
- 14:41Speaker 1: But also the Patriots have made some epic mistakes down
- 14:44Speaker 1: there in games, you know, fumbling near the goal line,
- 14:48Speaker 1: the gronk, you know, the famous.
- 14:51Speaker 5: Free to it.
- 14:52Speaker 3: But none of that had anything to do with too. No.
- 14:54Speaker 1: But if you look at the history of the Patriots
- 14:56Speaker 1: in Miami, it's been some really odd games.
- 15:00Speaker 3: But the games against TUA have been really conventional games
- 15:03Speaker 3: that Miami has just been the better team.
- 15:06Speaker 2: The last one, the last.
- 15:07Speaker 3: I mean there was there was some one. There was
- 15:10Speaker 3: one where like the opener that year Mac Jones, I
- 15:15Speaker 3: think twenty to seven, I want to say, yep, it
- 15:18Speaker 3: was like there was just where it was a strip
- 15:20Speaker 3: sack on the on the goal line, which might be,
- 15:22Speaker 3: but like that was just Miami was better.
- 15:24Speaker 6: Yeah, like from the first play of the game on. Yeah,
- 15:26Speaker 6: it was just like the game last year is going
- 15:28Speaker 6: to go yeah.
- 15:29Speaker 3: And that's I'm kind of with Mike. You just watched
- 15:33Speaker 3: the way that they play, and I have tons of
- 15:36Speaker 3: respect for the ability of Wattle and Tyreek Hill. So
- 15:41Speaker 3: I'm not telling you it should be easy to just
- 15:43Speaker 3: shut those guys down, but like it's it's fourth and
- 15:46Speaker 3: six and they're going to go for it in like
- 15:48Speaker 3: the forty yard line, and not only you allowed Wattle
- 15:50Speaker 3: to catch the pass, but he's gone, yeah, like how
- 15:53Speaker 3: do you let that happen? You know? And it just
- 15:56Speaker 3: would scratch, you know, like you said, it's a head scratcher,
- 15:59Speaker 3: because it doesn't seem like it should be that hard
- 16:02Speaker 3: to control him. Well, everybody haven't really been able to.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Everybody says, you know, if you can pressure Tua. Maybe
- 16:07Speaker 1: that's the problem with some teams and including us, is
- 16:10Speaker 1: that you tend to like focus so much on that
- 16:14Speaker 1: that if you don't get home, you get burned.
- 16:16Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, So I'll give you one thing, Like you
- 16:18Speaker 3: you made the comment like five minutes ago about like
- 16:21Speaker 3: are they better suited today to do this? That might
- 16:25Speaker 3: be an area that they are different. And Bill's philosophy
- 16:29Speaker 3: and certainly Mayo last year was a little bit more
- 16:31Speaker 3: aligned the way that they always played. They didn't really
- 16:34Speaker 3: want to get after the passer, right, they're containing him
- 16:37Speaker 3: in the pocket. They're not being mofully aggressive after Tua.
- 16:41Speaker 3: Based on one week, and what we saw all summer,
- 16:44Speaker 3: this team might be you know, the defense might be
- 16:47Speaker 3: set up a little bit differently. Maybe they will get
- 16:49Speaker 3: a little bit more aggressive in getting after Tua.
- 16:52Speaker 5: Yes, especially you know Williams and Barmore, which I think
- 16:55Speaker 5: is really where because you don't have time to get
- 16:57Speaker 5: the edge pressure there, Like his release is too quick
- 17:00Speaker 5: and he's not going to let you run around the
- 17:03Speaker 5: arc and have Harold Blandry and calevon Chase on ruin
- 17:06Speaker 5: this game. For him, it's going to have to be
- 17:08Speaker 5: the guys up the middle that get that immediate interior push.
- 17:12Speaker 5: And that's exactly what happened on the pick last week,
- 17:14Speaker 5: is that there was a push up the middle, probably
- 17:16Speaker 5: to Forest Buckner, you know, pushing up the middle and
- 17:19Speaker 5: kind of similar to Drake's pick where he couldn't fully
- 17:22Speaker 5: step into the throw and he sailed it and he
- 17:25Speaker 5: airmailed the throw over the receiver's head. Those are the
- 17:28Speaker 5: types of things that you see in the past where
- 17:30Speaker 5: teams have interior pressure up the middle quickly and they
- 17:33Speaker 5: can get him to throw off his back foot, then
- 17:35Speaker 5: you might have some success.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Yeah, which wasn't a big part of the Patriots old
- 17:38Speaker 2: defense when you had interior, two gappers and you know,
- 17:41Speaker 2: build the wall and just something that I always thought
- 17:44Speaker 2: was a big part of it. And you guys mentioned
- 17:46Speaker 2: a little bit, but like you know, Splaine the speed.
- 17:49Speaker 2: I think Reese wrote a little bit about Splain feeling
- 17:51Speaker 2: like not knowing Chip Kelly's offense last week hurt him
- 17:55Speaker 2: because he's kind of a film steady guy and needs
- 17:57Speaker 2: to know what's coming. And I think Reese was kind
- 17:59Speaker 2: of applying that this is an offense that he at
- 18:02Speaker 2: least understands better and he'll maybe have a little bit
- 18:04Speaker 2: better of a beat on. But to your point, Paul,
- 18:06Speaker 2: like that play on Wadle, I mean the middle of
- 18:08Speaker 2: the field. Evan's been talking plenty about it. You're gonna
- 18:10Speaker 2: need someplace from Splain, especially coverage too.
- 18:12Speaker 3: So a good eighteen minutes for Freddy though you know
- 18:14Speaker 3: he's got the Tua breeze camp and then he's like
- 18:17Speaker 3: so better suited defensively with their style, get in.
- 18:20Speaker 2: A great preview is really good Freddy.
- 18:24Speaker 3: Okay, Okay, you guys did well in the picks. Someone
- 18:32Speaker 3: who was weak one for one, that's weird.
- 18:34Speaker 2: That's weird, Paul. One more point, though it.
- 18:36Speaker 3: Was exceptionally good for one specific person, Like I'll get
- 18:39Speaker 3: to that.
- 18:39Speaker 2: Later weather game against Josh Allen, but that other one
- 18:42Speaker 2: a couple of years ago, or Remondre, it wasn't you
- 18:44Speaker 2: the big final drive, like they were at least able
- 18:46Speaker 2: to beat Josh Allen a couple of times, Like yeah,
- 18:48Speaker 2: I know that the win game was bizarre, but you
- 18:51Speaker 2: know they've gotten cond of just it's one of those
- 18:53Speaker 2: days it happens, but just doesn't seem to happen with it.
- 18:56Speaker 3: Was two years ago, right, they had like the conventional
- 18:59Speaker 3: win he where Mac Jones is only real last second.
- 19:04Speaker 2: That's why, Like if you see Tyreek have like a
- 19:06Speaker 2: thirty plus yard catch in this game, then you're like,
- 19:08Speaker 2: oh boy, not today, not today please.
- 19:11Speaker 1: So obviously last week, one of the big things coming
- 19:16Speaker 1: out of that game was giving up those big plays,
- 19:18Speaker 1: and so I'm sure there's gonna be an emphasis this
- 19:20Speaker 1: year to not do that. But when that becomes the focus,
- 19:24Speaker 1: does it make you vulnerable elsewhere?
- 19:26Speaker 2: I Mean, my instinct would be you don't have to
- 19:29Speaker 2: be like your hope would be attacked the right side
- 19:32Speaker 2: of their line. That's going to be backups. And you
- 19:34Speaker 2: paid Williams. You paid Christian Barmore, like haven't pointed out
- 19:37Speaker 2: these are this is the time to shine, Like this
- 19:39Speaker 2: is where you need those guys to rush for and
- 19:42Speaker 2: have the personnel available on the back end with seven
- 19:45Speaker 2: guys to play with coverage a little bit and clog
- 19:47Speaker 2: up the middle and you know, don't let those guys
- 19:50Speaker 2: even when they're making those catches on those slants, like
- 19:52Speaker 2: Paul pointed out with that bottle one, we've seen that
- 19:54Speaker 2: a couple of times where it's gone. So you got
- 19:57Speaker 2: to tackle too, even when they make those passes. But ideal,
- 20:00Speaker 2: I think you're getting pressure with four and you're dominating
- 20:02Speaker 2: those interior guys, getting right in his lap and you know,
- 20:05Speaker 2: make make him have to force it a little bit.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Then mistakes come.
- 20:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:08Speaker 5: I do worry a little bit about their run game
- 20:11Speaker 5: with in Gold. Their fullbacks really good player, were Able
- 20:13Speaker 5: talked about him yesterday and a Chen is a really
- 20:16Speaker 5: good runner too, and they like to go heavy and
- 20:19Speaker 5: then they kind of do what you give them. If
- 20:22Speaker 5: you run nickel, then they're gonna run it at you.
- 20:24Speaker 5: If you're in base, then they're gonna throw it on you.
- 20:27Speaker 5: And that's where you can have issues because you get
- 20:29Speaker 5: those linebackers in coverage against the speed and it's mismatches
- 20:32Speaker 5: all over the field. So how they match twenty one
- 20:36Speaker 5: personnel or you know, two back formations is going to
- 20:38Speaker 5: be big in this game because I think Miami is
- 20:40Speaker 5: going to probably put heavy personnel on the field and
- 20:43Speaker 5: then hope the Patriots match that with base and then
- 20:46Speaker 5: you get the speed of the Patriots off the field.
- 20:49Speaker 2: Maybe they just kind of swapped Tonga in as the
- 20:51Speaker 2: second defensive tackle and you know, maybe have a little
- 20:53Speaker 2: bit more of a rotation so here now when.
- 20:55Speaker 5: They ran some like five man beare fronts on Sunday,
- 20:58Speaker 5: and like maybe they'll do some of that or the
- 21:01Speaker 5: guard guard center guard all covered. You know, I think
- 21:04Speaker 5: that that's something that they could do. It's outside zone
- 21:07Speaker 5: run scheme. So if you can hold up the center
- 21:09Speaker 5: and you hold up you know, the backside guard there
- 21:11Speaker 5: from the reach block, then you can usually try to
- 21:14Speaker 5: get some penetration on that scheme. But I think Tonga
- 21:18Speaker 5: should just play more in general, Like I thought he
- 21:20Speaker 5: was really good in the game last week, been great
- 21:22Speaker 5: all summer. I think he needs to play more. Maybe
- 21:24Speaker 5: they're worried about at his size, like conditioning and stuff.
- 21:27Speaker 5: Like that. But it's that's the chess match. If they
- 21:31Speaker 5: go twenty one and they put big formations out there,
- 21:34Speaker 5: they're gonna throw out of that if you're in base.
- 21:38Speaker 5: But can you stop the run out of nickel like that,
- 21:40Speaker 5: that's gonna be the real problem.
- 21:43Speaker 2: I remember stopping the run in sub run defense was
- 21:45Speaker 2: like a huge problem, like I don't know, like twenty eleven,
- 21:47Speaker 2: twenty twelve. I remember it was like that was the
- 21:49Speaker 2: talking point that year. It was a huge problem for
- 21:50Speaker 2: them last I couldn't stop the run out out of
- 21:52Speaker 2: sub packaging.
- 21:53Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a huge problem for them last year. And
- 21:55Speaker 5: remember games like the forty nine Ers game, Shanahan just
- 21:58Speaker 5: put two tight ends and you just check on the
- 22:00Speaker 5: field and threw out of heavy groupings and they didn't
- 22:04Speaker 5: have the coverage ability out of base.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Who's all right? Eight five five pass five hundred is
- 22:09Speaker 1: the Hotline podcast at Patriots dot com. Is the email address.
- 22:13Speaker 1: We're gonna have to do picks the end of the show,
- 22:15Speaker 1: so we do have to hurry. So let's give some
- 22:17Speaker 1: time for our listeners to weigh in on whatever they
- 22:20Speaker 1: want to weigh in on. Jacob's in Illinois, Hey, Jacob, Jacob.
- 22:26Speaker 7: Hey, yep, an you guys diver good?
- 22:29Speaker 1: Yeah, oh, Eldred, Okay, what's going on? Jacob?
- 22:38Speaker 8: All right, Filer Trucker?
- 22:42Speaker 9: Is that any better?
- 22:43Speaker 1: Okay? Go ahead here, we got you, all right.
- 22:47Speaker 9: So first off, I'm gonna give my way in on
- 22:51Speaker 9: picks for Miami. I'm gonna say pass by for twenty
- 22:55Speaker 9: four to twenty and I'm really hoping that uh the
- 23:01Speaker 9: backs up my talk because I met a Dolphins stand
- 23:04Speaker 9: out a truck stop yesterday and uh, I really I talked.
- 23:08Speaker 9: I talked a big games, So please please don't make
- 23:11Speaker 9: me look the fool.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Right, what are you hauling?
- 23:15Speaker 3: Jacob?
- 23:17Speaker 9: I'm currently empty at the moment.
- 23:20Speaker 3: What was it?
- 23:21Speaker 1: Or you're empty? Okay? All right?
- 23:23Speaker 10: Yes, but.
- 23:29Speaker 11: In better better news.
- 23:32Speaker 9: At eleven o'clock last night, I became an uncle for
- 23:36Speaker 9: the first time.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Oh congratulations, thank you.
- 23:41Speaker 9: But I now have a question for the panel relating
- 23:45Speaker 9: to this. So neither of her parents care about football
- 23:53Speaker 9: at all. I am obviously the Patriots span of the family.
- 23:58Speaker 9: But my brother, my other brother, is a it's a
- 24:02Speaker 9: Green Bay Packer fan. Her grandparents are Bears fan. So
- 24:11Speaker 9: my question to you is, how do I gently nudge
- 24:16Speaker 9: my new niece is the path of righteousness.
- 24:20Speaker 2: Oh my god, who.
- 24:26Speaker 9: I require your aid?
- 24:28Speaker 1: And well I would I would get the little bear
- 24:31Speaker 1: with the Patriots jersey on, get the Patriots onesie.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Get a rivalry windbreaker. Yeah, I think they.
- 24:40Speaker 4: Is it a baby girl or a boy? You said.
- 24:44Speaker 1: The girl, right?
- 24:45Speaker 6: The girl I would get. I mean maybe in a
- 24:48Speaker 6: couple of months when she's a little older. The cute
- 24:50Speaker 6: little cheerleading outfit for babies that they have in the
- 24:53Speaker 6: pro shop. Little girls love that, So get her one
- 24:56Speaker 6: of those for sure, and just make the most of
- 24:59Speaker 6: your quality time.
- 25:00Speaker 1: Yeah, and just as she gets older, make sure that
- 25:03Speaker 1: you're over there on Sundays so that you know, hopefully
- 25:08Speaker 1: if the Patriots are on TV, make sure she's sitting
- 25:10Speaker 1: on your knee watching and you can explain things to her,
- 25:13Speaker 1: and you know, just make the case. Make the case.
- 25:16Speaker 1: You're gonna have to work hard because you got you know,
- 25:19Speaker 1: Chicago Bear fans, you got Packer fans. You're gonna have
- 25:22Speaker 1: to compete, and they're a lot closer. Yeah.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Talk a lot of crap about Jordan Love and Kayleb Williams.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, yeah, I mean I remember when my
- 25:30Speaker 1: son was a little kid. He saw Terrell Davis on
- 25:35Speaker 1: Sesame Street and he became a Broncos fan.
- 25:38Speaker 3: It was just that easy, was it because of your
- 25:41Speaker 3: Randy grat No, No.
- 25:43Speaker 1: He just he just saw Terrell Davis on Sesame Street
- 25:46Speaker 1: and he became a Broncos fan. So look for those opportunities.
- 25:50Speaker 4: We need a children's show.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:51Speaker 5: I don't know. I just wasn't choice. I wasn't given
- 25:55Speaker 5: the choice. You're can grow up in this household.
- 25:57Speaker 3: You're gonna like right, there was no gentle note, Thanks.
- 26:00Speaker 5: Patriots red socks, and if you don't, then go go
- 26:04Speaker 5: someplace else.
- 26:05Speaker 3: I became an uncle for the second time today, not today, today,
- 26:11Speaker 3: twenty five years ago. I was gonna.
- 26:13Speaker 4: Say anniversary of your own.
- 26:15Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, so, but he said, like eleven o'clock last night,
- 26:18Speaker 3: so that would still technically be the tenth Yeah today.
- 26:23Speaker 2: Cool to be an uncle before you're a dad. That
- 26:25Speaker 2: wasn't I just it.
- 26:26Speaker 3: Is cool, you know what? And I took advantage of it.
- 26:29Speaker 12: Oh.
- 26:30Speaker 3: I riled them up and see a nephew. I would
- 26:33Speaker 3: go over Thursday nights were like that was Paul time.
- 26:35Speaker 3: Oh yeah nine two oh, watch a little nine oh
- 26:40Speaker 3: two one oh, it's my brother and my sister in law,
- 26:42Speaker 3: and I get the kids all riled up.
- 26:43Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, all.
- 26:45Speaker 3: Right, I'll see you guys later. I leave maybe wide awake.
- 26:49Speaker 2: That was That was my dad too. My my cousin's
- 26:51Speaker 2: on that side of family. A bunch of boys. There's
- 26:53Speaker 2: like four boys and my dad. They're all older than me.
- 26:55Speaker 2: My dad would go over and brought like a whole
- 26:57Speaker 2: boxing set and he just in boxing contest between all
- 27:00Speaker 2: the cousins and then fight club and then leave.
- 27:02Speaker 5: You know, it's a it's a good time. And you'd
- 27:04Speaker 5: also get to like a little snapshot of that world,
- 27:08Speaker 5: and then it kind of am I ready for this
- 27:12Speaker 5: like to be me? And I just like watch my sister.
- 27:14Speaker 3: I'm like, nope, I know I'm not. There was the one,
- 27:19Speaker 3: you know, Tyler, the one that was here for training camp.
- 27:22Speaker 3: He's the one. Today's birthday had Tyler.
- 27:26Speaker 1: That one Boston fan writes in is there more pressure
- 27:28Speaker 1: now for Drake made to win this Dolphins game than
- 27:31Speaker 1: there was for him to win that Raiders game?
- 27:35Speaker 3: I think there's a little more pressure on here. I
- 27:39Speaker 3: think that all you've heard this week is how don't
- 27:43Speaker 3: lose to this team, don't lose to this Miami team,
- 27:46Speaker 3: they're in disarray, they've they've packed it in, they're not
- 27:50Speaker 3: you know, Fred just said that they're tanking. Don't lose
- 27:53Speaker 3: to this. I think that puts all that up. I
- 27:57Speaker 3: think that puts a lot of pressure on the Patriots.
- 28:00Speaker 3: And I think that there you asked about the desperate factor.
- 28:04Speaker 3: I think you need to you need to win a
- 28:06Speaker 3: game where all of a sudden, everybody's expecting you to win.
- 28:10Speaker 3: I think that makes you you a little bit desperate.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Patriots are underdogs, though they are so we we expected
- 28:16Speaker 1: or I expected, but Vegas doesn't.
- 28:19Speaker 5: No, I don't expect them to win.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Although what is it one and a hay one and
- 28:23Speaker 1: a half? Really they're.
- 28:27Speaker 3: Can we really just just stop with that at some point.
- 28:32Speaker 2: I put it in the in the book, No, but
- 28:34Speaker 2: you get three.
- 28:36Speaker 5: It's more like two and a half these days, two
- 28:38Speaker 5: and a half, even when it's conversation, even when it's
- 28:41Speaker 5: every Thursday.
- 28:45Speaker 1: But what I'm saying is, if Miami was really the favorite.
- 28:49Speaker 5: It were four, and that's yeah. I think there's a
- 28:52Speaker 5: lot of people like I get the So.
- 28:55Speaker 3: The Raiders were really the favorite last week?
- 28:58Speaker 1: Of course, of course there's.
- 29:00Speaker 5: A lot of people that are overlooking this Dolphins team
- 29:03Speaker 5: because they think the house is on fire.
- 29:05Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why there's some pressure on the but that's
- 29:08Speaker 3: literally the only reason why people are are feeling that
- 29:10Speaker 3: way is because they think that they're in disarray.
- 29:13Speaker 5: It's not the talent, like, it's not it's not the
- 29:16Speaker 5: two teams on the field. It's right, we're assuming that
- 29:19Speaker 5: McDaniel with you.
- 29:21Speaker 3: I totally totally understand what you're talking about. But I
- 29:25Speaker 3: think if you listen to everybody around here, don't don't
- 29:28Speaker 3: lose this game.
- 29:29Speaker 2: That's why it's gonna be miserable next week if they
- 29:30Speaker 2: do lose.
- 29:31Speaker 3: Don't lose this game.
- 29:33Speaker 2: If they lose this game, and then but you know,
- 29:35Speaker 2: the a little bit of the counter will be like, hey,
- 29:37Speaker 2: it's a really hard place to play. The Dolphins got
- 29:39Speaker 2: back on track, and you know, expecting Drake may and
- 29:43Speaker 2: what is the twelfth start of his career to go
- 29:45Speaker 2: down to Miami and beat any you know, beat any
- 29:48Speaker 2: Dolphins team isn't as a tough ask.
- 29:50Speaker 5: I think, well, at the same time, he's got to
- 29:52Speaker 5: do it one eventually, do and not just Miami, like
- 29:54Speaker 5: he has to win some games. He started twelve games
- 29:58Speaker 5: and he's won one. You know, at some point we
- 30:01Speaker 5: have to see the ball go through the hoop a
- 30:02Speaker 5: couple times for them.
- 30:03Speaker 1: Yeh, Stacey and Indiana. Miami obviously loves to use motion
- 30:07Speaker 1: to create leverage and force defenses to declare coverage ball Knower,
- 30:12Speaker 1: do you think the Patriot should try to counter that
- 30:14Speaker 1: by disguising late or should they just stick to the script,
- 30:17Speaker 1: so to speak, and stay disciplined to avoid getting burned
- 30:20Speaker 1: by hill waddle, et cetera.
- 30:22Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, you know, there's there's two different schools
- 30:25Speaker 5: of thought with motion, like you either travel with the
- 30:27Speaker 5: motion or you play you play zone to both sides
- 30:30Speaker 5: and you just kind of stay home and catch the
- 30:33Speaker 5: motion on the other side of the formation. There are
- 30:36Speaker 5: things that you can do, like you can travel with
- 30:40Speaker 5: the motion and then actually fall out into zone and
- 30:42Speaker 5: maybe disguise it that way and they think it's man.
- 30:45Speaker 5: But with Miami, I think that's hard because their motion
- 30:48Speaker 5: isn't motion to just I wouldn't really call it motion
- 30:51Speaker 5: to decipher coverage. They're motioning to get their skill players
- 30:56Speaker 5: head starts into the play, which is a little bit
- 30:59Speaker 5: differ than shifting. When you're shifting to as a coverage
- 31:03Speaker 5: indicator to the quarterback. So they're motioning and they use
- 31:07Speaker 5: what's called cheat motion. They actually get flagged for it
- 31:09Speaker 5: sometimes where Hill is actually kind of going up the
- 31:11Speaker 5: field already when the ball is snapped, so they're just
- 31:14Speaker 5: trying to get him out of the gate and give
- 31:17Speaker 5: him a head start. So if you disguise and then
- 31:20Speaker 5: you say, okay, well when they motion, we're actually going
- 31:22Speaker 5: to fall out of it and it's not going to
- 31:24Speaker 5: be man to man coverage. You know, I do think
- 31:26Speaker 5: that's difficult to do, so I would probably stick to
- 31:30Speaker 5: your sides and just catch the motion and not travel
- 31:33Speaker 5: with it. But I'm interested to see what they do.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Yeah, Mike and the OC would love to get the
- 31:38Speaker 1: Panels picks on my over under props. May rushing touchdowns,
- 31:43Speaker 1: A Hey, I'm.
- 31:45Speaker 5: Gonna go over it.
- 31:46Speaker 3: Go over on them.
- 31:46Speaker 5: They're going to try to incorporate him more in that way.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Okay, Diggs receptions for and A hey, I'll take the
- 31:53Speaker 1: over on that. Okay. Trevion rushing touchdowns, A hey, under
- 31:58Speaker 1: under tough one he catches one. Hunter Henry receptions four
- 32:02Speaker 1: and A hey, we'll take the over on that. And
- 32:05Speaker 1: two interceptions one and a hey under under. He says,
- 32:09Speaker 1: I'm taking the over on all of them. Patriots finally
- 32:12Speaker 1: win in Miami in a close one twenty four to
- 32:14Speaker 1: twenty one.
- 32:15Speaker 3: If all of those things go over in the game
- 32:16Speaker 3: is close, something something somewhere else that's went terribly wrong.
- 32:21Speaker 2: Because I think we got like three Patriots touchdowns a
- 32:23Speaker 2: quiet I accounted for, and at.
- 32:24Speaker 3: Least you have two two touchdowns, You have two receivers
- 32:30Speaker 3: getting at least five catches, and you have the other
- 32:32Speaker 3: quarterback throwing at least two interceptions, and you only win
- 32:35Speaker 3: the game by a field goal. Yeah, something else went
- 32:41Speaker 3: terribly wrong somewhere.
- 32:44Speaker 1: Old school rights in. We spent all off season hearing
- 32:47Speaker 1: about arm length. From the one game sample, Will Campbell
- 32:50Speaker 1: looks like he can play. Paul is right, as you
- 32:53Speaker 1: don't know until you see a player in a game,
- 32:55Speaker 1: looking forward to watching how he develops in future games.
- 32:58Speaker 1: There you go.
- 32:58Speaker 5: Some of us knew.
- 33:01Speaker 3: I didn't see that, but whatever.
- 33:04Speaker 1: So Mark writes in in mac Jones's second Year, my
- 33:10Speaker 1: memory states that his first throw of the first game,
- 33:14Speaker 1: or at least very early, he threw an out which
- 33:16Speaker 1: took an absolute age to get there. It was that
- 33:19Speaker 1: moment that made me go, not good enough, we need
- 33:22Speaker 1: someone else. No, May isn't there, but the May high
- 33:26Speaker 1: throws that sale May Spray's credit dues really worry me.
- 33:30Speaker 1: Missing high will consistently lead to turnover worthy plays. Do
- 33:33Speaker 1: you think that will come under control by mid season?
- 33:37Speaker 2: Hope? So, I should.
- 33:38Speaker 1: It was.
- 33:39Speaker 5: It's just interesting to me that it was better last year.
- 33:42Speaker 5: He really had much better accuracy for most of last year.
- 33:46Speaker 5: And I do wonder if by halfway through the season,
- 33:49Speaker 5: when the comfort level in the system comes along, and
- 33:52Speaker 5: hopefully he feels more comfortable within the offense, that his
- 33:55Speaker 5: mechanics will get back to a better place like they
- 33:58Speaker 5: were last year. But I would remember that Mac Jones
- 34:02Speaker 5: picked trap corner. Try to beat the trap corner with
- 34:04Speaker 5: the ball, and the ball to not beat the trap corner.
- 34:07Speaker 2: No, I mean, I mean you talked about it a
- 34:09Speaker 2: little bit with Drake in the in this press conference.
- 34:12Speaker 2: I'm not sure how many fans realize, like how tied
- 34:15Speaker 2: to the offense footwork, mechanics. All of that is to
- 34:19Speaker 2: the timing of the offense. And that's what I think
- 34:22Speaker 2: he talked about yesterday is getting his footwork matched up
- 34:25Speaker 2: with Josh's offense.
- 34:27Speaker 5: Yeah, I think a lot of people kind of just
- 34:29Speaker 5: look at him the footwork. Is it sloppy, right? But
- 34:32Speaker 5: really it's about timing the drop to the routes because
- 34:35Speaker 5: then it's rhythmic. Like if you try you know, when
- 34:37Speaker 5: he hits the top of his drop, when he's looking
- 34:39Speaker 5: at his first read, the receivers should be at the
- 34:42Speaker 5: top of the route and starting to come out of
- 34:43Speaker 5: the break, and that way there he can throw in
- 34:45Speaker 5: rhythm to different guys. And if that isn't tethered together
- 34:49Speaker 5: the drop in the route, then you have an issue.
- 34:52Speaker 5: You're either rushing it to get it out there, like
- 34:54Speaker 5: he said he was, or you're holding onto the football.
- 34:56Speaker 2: I'm gonna break some of this stuff down for my
- 34:58Speaker 2: flag football team if you don't mind out some coaching.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Got to tether the routes with the draft to get
- 35:03Speaker 2: my playbook together.
- 35:05Speaker 1: Eric and fort Meade, Maryland, Thank you Eric for your service.
- 35:09Speaker 1: I assume I know we have picks, but I have
- 35:11Speaker 1: a bone to pick with you. This aggression will not stand. Man,
- 35:16Speaker 1: he's talking to me. I cannot stand idly while you
- 35:19Speaker 1: besmirch bell bottoms as you did A brief moment yesterday.
- 35:23Speaker 1: At the start of my career in the Navy, the
- 35:26Speaker 1: working uniform were dungarees which were Denham bell bottoms Donkeys.
- 35:30Speaker 1: After a few washes, they were quite comfortable, accentuated my
- 35:33Speaker 1: manly form, which my wife, my future wife, appreciated, and
- 35:37Speaker 1: allowed me to leave my boots on for quick and
- 35:39Speaker 1: easy removal. Sounds strange, but a nice option to have.
- 35:43Speaker 1: That being said, I'm sure my new rivalry gear hooded
- 35:45Speaker 1: sweatshirt will be just as comfortable as I enjoy a
- 35:48Speaker 1: cold bud light. Sitting in my recliner from a Bob's
- 35:51Speaker 1: Discount furniture watching the Patriots defeat Miami twenty four to twenty.
- 35:56Speaker 1: Thank you, Eric, thank you for your service.
- 35:58Speaker 2: While reflecting upon the Massachusetts two.
- 36:00Speaker 1: No, I think obviously the Navy is well known for
- 36:03Speaker 1: their bell bottoms.
- 36:04Speaker 2: What so, what'd you go off?
- 36:07Speaker 1: I just said, you know, like we were talking about
- 36:09Speaker 1: the flat brim caps, and I said, people who wear
- 36:12Speaker 1: those now twenty years from now are going to be
- 36:14Speaker 1: like what was I thinking? The same way people who
- 36:16Speaker 1: wore the bottom I.
- 36:18Speaker 3: Brought up like some of the you know, like the
- 36:20Speaker 3: champion sweatshirt over the champion like and I was like, yeah,
- 36:26Speaker 3: that would be a change. He goes, So that's like
- 36:28Speaker 3: a towny. Look like I was a I U was remembered.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Well, we were all townies in some respect.
- 36:32Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean yeah, every single athlete. Whereas flat brim
- 36:36Speaker 5: hats now, so I guess they're all not cool.
- 36:38Speaker 3: Well do you think all the athletes that wore the sorry,
- 36:42Speaker 3: everybody wore the hats like someone threw up on them.
- 36:45Speaker 3: I think they were cool, like they all that's the
- 36:47Speaker 3: stuff and the starter stuff nineties.
- 36:49Speaker 1: Everybody wore the seventies. But now they look back and
- 36:52Speaker 1: it's like, oh, I look like such a.
- 36:53Speaker 3: Fool in the seventies.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Well, that's right, but that some things are everlasting. There's
- 36:59Speaker 1: some styles at our age. A white T shirt, bell
- 37:03Speaker 1: bottoms is not one of them.
- 37:04Speaker 3: A little black dressers, a little back trussed.
- 37:06Speaker 2: I've been a live long enough now though, to realize that, like,
- 37:09Speaker 2: jeans are just it's on a cycle, and if you
- 37:10Speaker 2: can just get like five pairs of jeans that you
- 37:12Speaker 2: really like, you could probably you know, I got my
- 37:15Speaker 2: skinny jeans also will come back in about ten years.
- 37:16Speaker 2: And then you know, now where everybody's got the wide
- 37:18Speaker 2: leg straight down.
- 37:19Speaker 4: To the bottom jeans that I were in high school
- 37:21Speaker 4: age them.
- 37:22Speaker 2: So yeah, that's what you gotta do. I'm like, I
- 37:23Speaker 2: wish I never got rid of it.
- 37:24Speaker 1: A mile flex that she's still in shape.
- 37:28Speaker 2: Was oh whoa okay, confidence you're supposed to sniff after you.
- 37:39Speaker 1: Leff Chris and Virginia. After the last game, there was
- 37:42Speaker 1: some pessimism around the team going into this weekend's fixture.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Can each of you give one reason to be positive
- 37:48Speaker 1: for the season ahead and you can't repeat a reason.
- 37:52Speaker 1: I'll give mine and Vrabel's career as a player and
- 37:55Speaker 1: head coach six times he's lost the opening fixture and
- 37:59Speaker 1: gone on to have an above five hundred season. This
- 38:01Speaker 1: includes the one and o three seasons. So let's be positive.
- 38:05Speaker 1: A new week of games is here, learn, grow, and
- 38:08Speaker 1: let's go. So one reason why you're minus positive, mins.
- 38:13Speaker 3: It's just weak two.
- 38:13Speaker 2: It's just week two. If there's time to get the
- 38:15Speaker 2: train rolling and nothing has been decided yet, so there's
- 38:18Speaker 2: still time to get it all moving in the right direction.
- 38:21Speaker 5: Yeah, I agree with that, and I think from I
- 38:25Speaker 5: have faith and Vrabel and Josh McDaniels and their ability
- 38:28Speaker 5: to adjust and adapt and start to learn about this
- 38:33Speaker 5: team and what this team does well and what it
- 38:35Speaker 5: doesn't do well. And I think their talent, you know,
- 38:38Speaker 5: the last couple of years, I don't think they've had
- 38:39Speaker 5: the talent to make big adjustments that could really help
- 38:42Speaker 5: them win football games. I do think the talent's a
- 38:44Speaker 5: little bit more improved this time. So to the emailer's point,
- 38:48Speaker 5: if we let's give it four or five weeks and
- 38:50Speaker 5: then at some point in September, hopefully Josh and Mike
- 38:54Speaker 5: Rabel come together and they're like, let's scrap this, let's
- 38:58Speaker 5: let's do this, Let's make this our ident and e
- 39:00Speaker 5: let's make this our focus, and then hopefully they can
- 39:02Speaker 5: start doing that well and that's when the wins will come.
- 39:05Speaker 3: Alex, you have one.
- 39:06Speaker 6: Yeah, I would say it's just there's a lot of
- 39:10Speaker 6: fresh faces and new energy and people.
- 39:13Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 39:13Speaker 6: I felt like last year guys just got to a
- 39:15Speaker 6: point where they're complacent with all the losing, and I
- 39:18Speaker 6: don't think you can have that on a football team.
- 39:22Speaker 3: And the youth would be a reason to suggest that
- 39:26Speaker 3: that won't happen because these guys still fighting for their careers,
- 39:30Speaker 3: so they won't pack it in. I would just go
- 39:32Speaker 3: with Drake May, I think he's too talented to play
- 39:35Speaker 3: the way he did last week. I think he'll get
- 39:38Speaker 3: better the more experience he gets, the more comfortable he
- 39:41Speaker 3: gets in this offense. I just think he's I believe
- 39:43Speaker 3: in the talent, I believe in his skill set. I
- 39:45Speaker 3: think he'll get better. And that's my reason for optimism.
- 39:48Speaker 1: Yeah, at along those same lines, I'll say that I'm
- 39:51Speaker 1: optimistic because of Josh McDaniels. I think kind of he
- 39:55Speaker 1: sees what happened last week with Drake and the and
- 39:59Speaker 1: he'll make adjustments.
- 40:01Speaker 2: Evans.
- 40:02Speaker 1: But right, we.
- 40:04Speaker 3: Were asked not to repeat one, all right, so those
- 40:08Speaker 3: the first eighteen minutes are over on downhill.
- 40:11Speaker 5: Since we always talked about the extension of the preseason
- 40:16Speaker 5: in September, it's kind of like a bill thing, And
- 40:19Speaker 5: I think very Bole and Josh are kind of cut
- 40:20Speaker 5: from the same cloth.
- 40:21Speaker 3: Like, oh, I think the whole league does it now.
- 40:23Speaker 5: Yeah, Like I think that they're kind of the same way,
- 40:25Speaker 5: where like by like October around Halloween, they're going to
- 40:28Speaker 5: kind of really know what the team is and what
- 40:30Speaker 5: they have and what they're able to do successfully and
- 40:32Speaker 5: do well, and then they'll lean into whatever that is,
- 40:36Speaker 5: you know, if that's throwing the ball, if that's running
- 40:38Speaker 5: the ball, if it's you know, blitzing all the time
- 40:41Speaker 5: on defense or not. You know, maybe it's what we.
- 40:43Speaker 3: Remember last year. You know, Week one, Week two, you know,
- 40:46Speaker 3: scorings down. You know, defenses are catching out. You know,
- 40:51Speaker 3: the season unfolds and it really doesn't unfold that way.
- 40:54Speaker 3: And it's the same thing now. You know that there
- 40:56Speaker 3: was a bunch of games that were under the total
- 40:59Speaker 3: in Week one and defense is catch it. I think
- 41:02Speaker 3: it's what Evan's talking about. I think there's a lot
- 41:04Speaker 3: of these teams. You don't hit a lot in preseason.
- 41:07Speaker 3: The frontline guys don't play a lot in the preseason,
- 41:10Speaker 3: and no one's offense is in mid season form when
- 41:13Speaker 3: the season starts. You know, there was like a handful
- 41:15Speaker 3: of games that, like the Baltimore Buffalo game with the
- 41:19Speaker 3: talent is just two immense to stop anybody, but everybody
- 41:22Speaker 3: else looked like, you know, they're shaking the rust off
- 41:25Speaker 3: of a lack of activity during the summer.
- 41:27Speaker 5: The defenses are I think taking more chances now, and
- 41:33Speaker 5: we saw it here with all the blitzing that the
- 41:34Speaker 5: Patriots did. But I feel like defenses now are realizing
- 41:38Speaker 5: like they're gonna land some punches where it's just too
- 41:42Speaker 5: hard to cover all these guys and to play defense nowadays,
- 41:45Speaker 5: to think that we're just gonna be the eighty five
- 41:47Speaker 5: Bears out here and shut everybody out. So let's I
- 41:51Speaker 5: feel like they are more aggressive to pressure quarterbacks, take
- 41:54Speaker 5: the ball away, and like almost like that's now becoming
- 41:58Speaker 5: the it thing on defense, like negative plays and turnovers,
- 42:02Speaker 5: like can you produce those two things? And you might
- 42:04Speaker 5: give up nine explosive plays exces, But if you have
- 42:09Speaker 5: x amount of sacks and X amount of turnovers and
- 42:11Speaker 5: x amount of tackles for loss, you might feel like
- 42:14Speaker 5: you still had a good day on defense. And I
- 42:16Speaker 5: feel like we see that across the league.
- 42:18Speaker 1: All right, A five to five past five hundred. Let's
- 42:20Speaker 1: go back to the phones, uh, Christians in LA. What's up? Christians?
- 42:26Speaker 7: Hey you guys?
- 42:27Speaker 13: But going on, hey, hey, So I'm gonna go ahead
- 42:30Speaker 13: and let's say play the tape forward for weeks, and
- 42:33Speaker 13: let's say we are zero to four and worst one
- 42:36Speaker 13: in three some.
- 42:37Speaker 7: Of that of that nature. A question, do you guys
- 42:41Speaker 7: see anybody out there that you think would shake loose
- 42:44Speaker 7: that could make a noticeable difference, put it back on
- 42:47Speaker 7: a playoff trajectory, and then I have a game for
- 42:50Speaker 7: you guys. Drake May at best will be what quarterback
- 42:55Speaker 7: and at worst will be what quarterback. And my game
- 42:58Speaker 7: prediction I have the Patriots' twenty to seventeen.
- 43:02Speaker 1: Okay, thanks Christians positivity. I don't know, like who could
- 43:06Speaker 1: shake loose after week now, don't you know? I don't know.
- 43:10Speaker 2: They need legit talent, like you know, getting another three
- 43:14Speaker 2: four receiver or rotational defensive end or like those aren't
- 43:18Speaker 2: going to move the needle for this.
- 43:19Speaker 3: And the guys that that do move the needle, that
- 43:22Speaker 3: shake loose, they shake loose for a reason. Like right now,
- 43:25Speaker 3: you're hearing a lot of talk about Tyreek Hill and
- 43:27Speaker 3: potentially as Miami just had enough of him, and they're gonna.
- 43:30Speaker 1: Say if we're one and three in Miami zoning four,
- 43:33Speaker 1: maybe they.
- 43:34Speaker 3: But they're not gonna But he's not gonna come to
- 43:35Speaker 3: the Patriots. The Patriots are not going to get Tyreek
- 43:37Speaker 3: Hill if they won in three, right, that doesn't make
- 43:39Speaker 3: any sense, right, because they won in three. They're not
- 43:43Speaker 3: going to take a guy who's going to give you
- 43:45Speaker 3: all kinds of bad publicity when you're one in three,
- 43:47Speaker 3: like it's not worth it?
- 43:48Speaker 1: What about winning games?
- 43:49Speaker 3: It's that's my point. If they were three and one,
- 43:52Speaker 3: then you bite the bullet and say, yeah, he's kind
- 43:54Speaker 3: of a pain, but he could help us and we
- 43:56Speaker 3: can maybe make a run.
- 43:57Speaker 1: Bow you're giving up at one in three, I'm not up,
- 44:00Speaker 1: but yeah, okay, I'm not giving up at one and three.
- 44:03Speaker 3: And I also think there's only a select amount of
- 44:05Speaker 3: teams that would take on Tyreek Hill, you know, and
- 44:09Speaker 3: I don't think one of them.
- 44:11Speaker 1: But so the only reason you're saying don't take Tyreek
- 44:14Speaker 1: Hill is because of this baggage. Yes, what about a
- 44:17Speaker 1: player that doesn't have a baggage at one and three?
- 44:20Speaker 1: Would you pick up a player that you think if
- 44:22Speaker 1: I thought there was a player that was worth Okay,
- 44:24Speaker 1: so you're not giving up.
- 44:26Speaker 3: Well on the season is that's different? But I wouldn't
- 44:29Speaker 3: mean but if I can acquire a good player, yeah, yes.
- 44:32Speaker 1: I want to aire good players, Okay.
- 44:34Speaker 3: But not I'm not acquiring him because I think he's
- 44:36Speaker 3: going to make me a playoff team this year. If
- 44:37Speaker 3: I'm one and three and I'm acquiring it because I
- 44:40Speaker 3: need good players. I need to rebuild, I need to
- 44:41Speaker 3: get better. I need to help my quarterback.
- 44:43Speaker 2: What's his frame of mind coming to a one and
- 44:45Speaker 2: three Patriots team coming on four Dolphins team? Is he
- 44:47Speaker 2: could even be that guy that they.
- 44:49Speaker 3: Would need to just like I can understand why they
- 44:51Speaker 3: were interested in, you know, big money. They were interested
- 44:54Speaker 3: in Ronnie Stanley, you know, paying a lot of money
- 44:57Speaker 3: for a left tackle. They were interested in in Chris Godwin.
- 45:01Speaker 3: They were interested in giving him a lot of money
- 45:03Speaker 3: because they need players.
- 45:04Speaker 2: You know what I might believe, I might believe the
- 45:07Speaker 2: Chiefs trading for Tyreek Hill.
- 45:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I've heard that a lot. I don't think that
- 45:11Speaker 3: makes a lot of sense, And I don't I really
- 45:13Speaker 3: don't think it makes a lot of sense because that,
- 45:15Speaker 3: to me, they need a receiver right now, you know,
- 45:18Speaker 3: because Worthy got hurt and Rice is serving a suspension
- 45:22Speaker 3: in two months. They won't they don't want that headache.
- 45:25Speaker 3: But everybody seems to be thinking that's one of the
- 45:27Speaker 3: only teams that would take him back because they they
- 45:30Speaker 3: kind of feel like they could work with them and
- 45:32Speaker 3: they can make it work with with that pain.
- 45:34Speaker 1: And I thought he was going to retire, didn't he say,
- 45:37Speaker 1: a couple of years ago.
- 45:40Speaker 3: He has been a problem for Miami, and I know
- 45:43Speaker 3: he and Tua have had their their differences, and now,
- 45:46Speaker 3: like Mike's pointed out that Tua hasn't had a big
- 45:48Speaker 3: play reception since Week one of last year. It's good, but.
- 45:53Speaker 2: You just want a good start and the Patriots to
- 45:56Speaker 2: do everything right. Like I'm not sure there's anything worse
- 45:58Speaker 2: than if the Patriots got out of Miami and the
- 46:00Speaker 2: first quarter and it's just three and out and they
- 46:02Speaker 2: go right down the field and score like that is
- 46:05Speaker 2: I don't see how they bounce back from that. But
- 46:06Speaker 2: if you go down there, you forced two out, you
- 46:09Speaker 2: force a punt, maybe you score, you know, just a
- 46:10Speaker 2: good start and start to encourg Like I said, yes,
- 46:13Speaker 2: I encourage the Dolphins to maybe not.
- 46:16Speaker 1: I think you did. I thought I did too, but
- 46:18Speaker 1: I can't remember.
- 46:19Speaker 3: We're getting Marine corps, all.
- 46:21Speaker 1: Right, Thanks Patty's and Havel's.
- 46:24Speaker 3: Crediting for the first eighteen minutes of this show.
- 46:28Speaker 10: What's up, guys, Hiving?
- 46:30Speaker 8: Just a quick question and I'll take it out the
- 46:32Speaker 8: here ball. There were questioned, so Evan Mike Paul Fred
- 46:37Speaker 8: could sit this one out. I'm just joking, how do
- 46:40Speaker 8: you think it is the best way that you can
- 46:42Speaker 8: attack this Miami Dolphins defense. Is it going to be
- 46:44Speaker 8: kind of what we saw this past Sunday or probably
- 46:47Speaker 8: maybe a little bit more of an even split on
- 46:49Speaker 8: running pass? Thanks guys, pick it up there by Thanks.
- 46:52Speaker 5: I hope they're more balanced. I mean they have to
- 46:54Speaker 5: be more balanced. But I do think that, you know,
- 46:57Speaker 5: the calls gave you some things that you could probab
- 47:00Speaker 5: probably do from the gun, the you know, gun runs, RPOs,
- 47:03Speaker 5: things like that. They gave him some problems. And one
- 47:06Speaker 5: of the things I think that really stood out to
- 47:08Speaker 5: watching Daniel Jones, because like, this is Daniel Jones, right,
- 47:11Speaker 5: and he goes out there and he looks like he's
- 47:13Speaker 5: Josh Allen and he's just dropping dimes all over the field.
- 47:16Speaker 5: They really scripted three or four throws right off the
- 47:20Speaker 5: bat in that game for Daniel Jones that were just easy,
- 47:24Speaker 5: roll out to the left, dump it in the flat
- 47:26Speaker 5: to Tyler Warren and pick up positive yards on the
- 47:30Speaker 5: first couple of plays of the game. And they weren't
- 47:33Speaker 5: asking him to do much. They were moving the pocket
- 47:35Speaker 5: on a couple of them, and it was just very
- 47:37Speaker 5: easy elementary football, and for Drake, I wonder if you
- 47:41Speaker 5: kind of do that for him and try to get
- 47:44Speaker 5: him into the game a little bit with some easy layouts,
- 47:47Speaker 5: then maybe you can start to build some of his confidence.
- 47:50Speaker 5: I think it's a lot to ask, like for him,
- 47:52Speaker 5: you know, to drop back on like the first third
- 47:55Speaker 5: down of the game and just like it's third and
- 47:57Speaker 5: long and you got to make a throw, you know,
- 47:59Speaker 5: and it's like, there's not he hasn't been built up
- 48:02Speaker 5: at all at that point. There's no confidence whatsoever. So
- 48:06Speaker 5: I would like to just see them try to get
- 48:08Speaker 5: Drake into the game, like scheme open some things and
- 48:12Speaker 5: scheme up some stuff that is just easy, one read
- 48:15Speaker 5: and out type of things like the Colts did for
- 48:18Speaker 5: Daniel Jones. Because he did that and all of a
- 48:20Speaker 5: sudden he was cooking. Like he hit three or four
- 48:22Speaker 5: of those underneath throws that were nice easy throws into
- 48:25Speaker 5: the flats, and he throws a really good ball to
- 48:27Speaker 5: Tyler Warren on a wheel route to put them into
- 48:30Speaker 5: field goal range that I don't know if he makes
- 48:32Speaker 5: that throw if he doesn't have the other one. So
- 48:35Speaker 5: I would come out throwing, but I would come out
- 48:37Speaker 5: throwing conservatively and try to get Drake into the game
- 48:40Speaker 5: a little bit.
- 48:40Speaker 3: That's what you want to do. Fred, You said that
- 48:42Speaker 3: in the postgame show.
- 48:43Speaker 1: Brian Lowell, what's up? Brian Lowell? Hey, hey tell.
- 48:51Speaker 8: Us Hey, how you guys doing good?
- 48:56Speaker 1: Okay?
- 48:57Speaker 11: Yeah, I want I want to talk to talk to
- 48:59Speaker 11: you guys about it. Christian Guntle's injury concern is a hamstring,
- 49:05Speaker 11: you know, if he's gonna be be willing.
- 49:07Speaker 1: Return, be playing again, like.
- 49:11Speaker 11: You know, guys know about that.
- 49:13Speaker 3: He'll play eventually, but I assume at some point he'll
- 49:17Speaker 3: be back, but we haven't. He hasn't been on the
- 49:19Speaker 3: practice field in over six weeks at this point, and
- 49:22Speaker 3: I can't imagine that that points to him playing Sunday.
- 49:26Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, it is crazy. He has been in the
- 49:29Speaker 5: locker room pretty frequently when we've been in the locker room.
- 49:32Speaker 1: So they're not hiding him. He'll be back.
- 49:34Speaker 5: Yeah, he's going to be.
- 49:36Speaker 3: Just as a point of comparison, Okay, So George Kitt'll
- 49:38Speaker 3: pull the hamstring in the week one game and they
- 49:40Speaker 3: put him on I R. So they're telling everybody he's
- 49:42Speaker 3: gonna miss four weeks. You know, so hamstring. I know
- 49:46Speaker 3: people just look at It's not just a hamstring will
- 49:48Speaker 3: be out a day or two like these things linger,
- 49:50Speaker 3: especially especially skill game.
- 49:53Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, yeah, I've had a hamstring. If you had
- 49:56Speaker 1: a hamstring, yeah, I had a quad rip too.
- 50:00Speaker 3: I never had a quadrate, but I did have a hamstring.
- 50:02Speaker 3: I felt like I got shot with an elephant.
- 50:03Speaker 4: Conn Nick pull the hamshring playing pick up basketball.
- 50:06Speaker 6: He hasn't played basketball in like a year and a
- 50:08Speaker 6: half because of it.
- 50:11Speaker 3: But I mean, I'm one hundred years old and he's not.
- 50:14Speaker 3: You'd like to think you should be able to get
- 50:15Speaker 3: back out there.
- 50:16Speaker 1: But Ben's and Philly, Hey Ben, hello, can you guys
- 50:21Speaker 1: hear me?
- 50:21Speaker 3: Yes?
- 50:23Speaker 4: Cool?
- 50:24Speaker 14: Sorry, I had a hamstring Tereror sophomore year of high
- 50:26Speaker 14: school kept me out eight weeks of football. So hamshers
- 50:31Speaker 14: absolutely a big deal. Ye, first point I wanted to make.
- 50:35Speaker 14: I don't understand the panic about Drake first first game
- 50:39Speaker 14: news system. He was good to start, We're fine. Sometimes
- 50:42Speaker 14: it just feels like they want to see a Joe Flacco,
- 50:46Speaker 14: a forty year old Joe Flacco play instead of this young,
- 50:49Speaker 14: exciting kid that's going to develop. So I just don't
- 50:53Speaker 14: get that second question I had was. I watched some
- 50:57Speaker 14: of that Dolphins tape and it seems like they play
- 51:01Speaker 14: a lot of zone coverage, don't blitz a ton, so
- 51:04Speaker 14: similar to the setup against the Raiders from what I understand,
- 51:09Speaker 14: do we expect that or are they gonna ratchet up
- 51:11Speaker 14: the blitz?
- 51:12Speaker 2: Thanks?
- 51:14Speaker 1: Thanks Ben?
- 51:15Speaker 3: The Raiders did. Yeah, I mean, if I were in
- 51:18Speaker 3: the second half, if I.
- 51:19Speaker 2: Were Miami, I'm trying to get Drake uncomfortable and trying
- 51:22Speaker 2: to you know, disguise pool him, get free rushers, you know,
- 51:26Speaker 2: take him out of the game early.
- 51:28Speaker 3: I mean, you can look at it two ways.
- 51:29Speaker 2: Because but the secondary is a problem for Miami.
- 51:34Speaker 3: So if you're Anthony Weaver, the Dolphins defensive coordinator, do
- 51:38Speaker 3: you try to protect the secondary by getting after the
- 51:41Speaker 3: passer or do you try to protect the secondary by
- 51:44Speaker 3: putting more guys in coverage and flooding zones. So you
- 51:48Speaker 3: can look at it both ways. I think the strength
- 51:50Speaker 3: of the Dolphins defense is probably their ability to get
- 51:52Speaker 3: after the passer with guys like Jalen Phillips and Bradley
- 51:56Speaker 3: Chubb and Chop Robinson. Yeah, I would maybe maybe you
- 52:00Speaker 3: just try to get after Drake May and say, you know,
- 52:03Speaker 3: if we don't get there. We're not gonna win this
- 52:05Speaker 3: game because we can't cover with this group of players.
- 52:08Speaker 5: Yeah, I would just respectfully disagree about the blitzing. And
- 52:12Speaker 5: I just looked up the number they blitzed Daniel Jones
- 52:14Speaker 5: sixty percent of the time last week, which has got
- 52:16Speaker 5: to be one of the highest numbers in.
- 52:17Speaker 3: The LAY and I just think that, Yeah, if you're Miami,
- 52:21Speaker 3: do you say, well, we're gonna sit back with that
- 52:23Speaker 3: secondary that well, they're saying at least three guys.
- 52:26Speaker 5: So the reason why I brought it up is because
- 52:28Speaker 5: they use creepers, so they they blitz from the second
- 52:32Speaker 5: and third level and then they drop guys off the
- 52:34Speaker 5: line of scrimmage, so they actually are I think probably
- 52:37Speaker 5: the caller was seeing like they end up only rushing
- 52:39Speaker 5: four guys, but which four guys they're rushing is not
- 52:42Speaker 5: the same down to down right, So it's uh, if
- 52:46Speaker 5: you're watching it, like, yeah, I could definitely see how
- 52:49Speaker 5: it Well, it was a four man rush, but one
- 52:51Speaker 5: of the rushers might be a safety coming off the
- 52:53Speaker 5: edge or a slot corner blitzing from the nickel spot
- 52:57Speaker 5: or something like that, so that Anthony Weaver comes from
- 52:59Speaker 5: Balta more. That's they mix it up. They pressure quarterbacks
- 53:04Speaker 5: a lot, so I expect them That's exactly what they
- 53:06Speaker 5: did to Drake last year. I'll mention that too in
- 53:10Speaker 5: that game went down there last year. So I expect
- 53:12Speaker 5: them to come after Drake again until he proves to
- 53:14Speaker 5: them that he can beat that kind of defense.
- 53:17Speaker 1: Brandon Main writes in when it comes to what he
- 53:20Speaker 1: regards as the right approach to offensive football, Evan is
- 53:24Speaker 1: as stubborn, or maybe more so than Paul. It's probably true,
- 53:27Speaker 1: given the opportunity to be part of the interview for
- 53:30Speaker 1: the Patriots OC job, I imagine it goes like this, Evan,
- 53:33Speaker 1: are you Kyle Shanahan. Are you Kyle Shanahan candidate? No?
- 53:37Speaker 1: Are you from his coaching tree?
- 53:39Speaker 2: No?
- 53:39Speaker 1: If you aren't a Shanahan disciple? Do you even know football?
- 53:42Speaker 3: Bro?
- 53:43Speaker 1: But seriously, it's evident Evan is not a big fan
- 53:46Speaker 1: of the Josh McDaniels offense, or at least the current
- 53:49Speaker 1: version of it. When listening, Evan's suggestions for improving the
- 53:52Speaker 1: offense and tailoring it to Drake's skill sets seem to
- 53:55Speaker 1: be sensible. At some motion. Window dressing get him on
- 53:58Speaker 1: the move bring in more art. Yet Evan isn't smarter
- 54:02Speaker 1: than Josh McDaniels and probably isn't even smarter than AVP.
- 54:06Speaker 1: So if we assume Evan has a point a large
- 54:08Speaker 1: assumption to make, but let's give him some leeway. Why
- 54:11Speaker 1: is it that the Patriots big brains have not gone
- 54:13Speaker 1: down the road Lazarre wants traveled? What would you lead?
- 54:17Speaker 1: What would lead you or us to believe that they
- 54:20Speaker 1: know best and have a plan.
- 54:22Speaker 5: I don't know. I'm an idiot apparently, so I don't know.
- 54:25Speaker 5: I respond to that, I don't know.
- 54:27Speaker 2: I just I want to see how they continue to
- 54:29Speaker 2: grow the offense. And like I said yesterday, your first
- 54:31Speaker 2: game of the season, talking so much about we don't
- 54:34Speaker 2: know what the opponent's going to do, I don't think
- 54:36Speaker 2: you know how much your team's going to do as well.
- 54:38Speaker 2: So now that they have a sample size of their
- 54:40Speaker 2: own team, now it's time to start to evolve and
- 54:42Speaker 2: lean into things that maybe you saw some positive glimmers
- 54:45Speaker 2: of hope from and get rid of the things that
- 54:47Speaker 2: didn't work. And you know, my hope is that they
- 54:50Speaker 2: continue to build it out around him and that they
- 54:52Speaker 2: do incorporate some of those things, and you know, just
- 54:54Speaker 2: try to make it easier on Drake. I think at
- 54:56Speaker 2: the end of the day, it's all about making Drake
- 54:59Speaker 2: may funk in this offense. So whatever it takes. If
- 55:01Speaker 2: he you know, if he can't handle too much motion
- 55:04Speaker 2: or whatever and there's too much on his plate, then
- 55:06Speaker 2: maybe they need to go a little bit slower. But
- 55:08Speaker 2: I would hope that this will be a week by
- 55:10Speaker 2: week building And those.
- 55:11Speaker 3: Are all great points. And I think your your main
- 55:13Speaker 3: point that you started with is the one that I
- 55:15Speaker 3: always get to. And Bill used to talk about it
- 55:17Speaker 3: all the time, like, you know, people come out in
- 55:19Speaker 3: week one, you're not really sure exactly forget about what
- 55:22Speaker 3: the other team. Everybody says, well, you know, it's all
- 55:24Speaker 3: the unknown, but you don't know what you're going to do.
- 55:26Speaker 3: I remember the year there was a year somewhere in
- 55:29Speaker 3: the middle the middle ots like five o six in
- 55:32Speaker 3: that era, they opened with Buffalo. The first play of
- 55:35Speaker 3: the year was a strip sack of to Ko Spikes.
- 55:40Speaker 3: I strip sacked for a touchdown and Bill, I remember,
- 55:42Speaker 3: it's like, I don't know how many of us had
- 55:45Speaker 3: getting strip sacked for a touchdown on the first play
- 55:47Speaker 3: of the season. You know, but you just sort of
- 55:50Speaker 3: adjust because you just it's such an unknown and you
- 55:53Speaker 3: just you figure out what you have, what the other
- 55:55Speaker 3: teams are doing, and then you figure out what you
- 55:58Speaker 3: do well. Maybe there were three things that they we
- 56:00Speaker 3: expected to do really well against the Raiders and none
- 56:02Speaker 3: of those things happened. Yeah, yeah, so now you would
- 56:05Speaker 3: just yeah, or was it a one off and we
- 56:07Speaker 3: are going to be able to run the ball most
- 56:09Speaker 3: weeks we weren't able to run in a week? One?
- 56:11Speaker 2: Can I do a tiny story? That was my game
- 56:13Speaker 2: Open Row six, my first time ever to this stadium.
- 56:16Speaker 2: My sister and I went together, had so much fun.
- 56:18Speaker 2: We got here like way too early, park behind the
- 56:20Speaker 2: liquor store. We got here, we had a tennis ball
- 56:22Speaker 2: and a like thirty pack of beer and that was it,
- 56:24Speaker 2: and we.
- 56:24Speaker 3: Had so much fun.
- 56:25Speaker 2: We were like tennis ball for I don't know it
- 56:27Speaker 2: was in the things that we're just playing the tennis ball,
- 56:30Speaker 2: but we had so much fun. In the tailgate, we're
- 56:32Speaker 2: like run into our seats up in the three hundreds
- 56:33Speaker 2: and then that it's already like the flyovers happened, and
- 56:37Speaker 2: we're like where else seas we gotta get there like
- 56:38Speaker 2: we literally sit down. It's like boom bo boom, fat sack.
- 56:40Speaker 2: We're like, oh man, that's not a good stuff.
- 56:42Speaker 3: But they still won Ty Warren's safety.
- 56:47Speaker 2: Yeah, Troy Banna touched down. Yeah, those are the days.
- 56:52Speaker 3: So here's one little nick, because you know, I can
- 56:55Speaker 3: never just let things go. It's too immature to just
- 56:58Speaker 3: let things go. We're just trying to offer opinions, right,
- 57:04Speaker 3: No one suggesting that we know more than the people
- 57:06Speaker 3: that are making the decisions and whatnot. But like, what
- 57:10Speaker 3: does you think of the decision to make Matt Patricia
- 57:12Speaker 3: the offensive coordinator? Everybody but Fred?
- 57:15Speaker 2: Not a great decision?
- 57:16Speaker 3: Okay, do you know more than Bill Belichick?
- 57:20Speaker 1: Oh?
- 57:21Speaker 2: Football?
- 57:21Speaker 3: Now? So, like, I don't think you have to be
- 57:25Speaker 3: a professional coach or an owner of a team to
- 57:28Speaker 3: be allowed to have an opinion on what you think
- 57:30Speaker 3: is a good direction to go.
- 57:31Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I obviously echo that as well, and
- 57:34Speaker 5: I obviously know that I don't know as much about
- 57:37Speaker 5: football as Josh McDaniels. But at the same time, like
- 57:40Speaker 5: I get paid to sit here and tell you what
- 57:42Speaker 5: I think of what's going on.
- 57:43Speaker 3: It doesn't mean you're wrong because you differ with guys
- 57:46Speaker 3: that have more information than you do. It doesn't make
- 57:49Speaker 3: you automatically wrong. If that were true, like none of
- 57:52Speaker 3: this would exist, We wouldn't, no one would be able
- 57:54Speaker 3: to do this.
- 57:55Speaker 5: Yeah, I just think, you know, from McDaniel's life, I
- 57:59Speaker 5: guess from I just want to see it, Like I
- 58:01Speaker 5: want to see him have a more creative, more modern
- 58:05Speaker 5: style offense that I don't necessarily know I've seen from
- 58:08Speaker 5: him before. And that doesn't mean he can't do it.
- 58:10Speaker 5: I just I haven't. I mean, they were last in
- 58:13Speaker 5: the league in motion rate in Week one they motioned
- 58:15Speaker 5: to eighteen percent of the time. The thirty first team
- 58:18Speaker 5: in the league in motion rate motion thirty six percent
- 58:21Speaker 5: of the time, double what the Patriots did. So is
- 58:24Speaker 5: that a Drake may issue? Is that a week one issue?
- 58:28Speaker 5: And we're going to build towards that, like whatever the
- 58:30Speaker 5: case may be. I hope it's just one of those things.
- 58:33Speaker 5: And that's not the plan. Because when you turn on
- 58:36Speaker 5: these tapes of these other offenses, there's misdirection, there's deception,
- 58:40Speaker 5: there's guys all over the place, there's RPOs and certain offenses,
- 58:44Speaker 5: there's under center with motion and window dressing and the
- 58:47Speaker 5: Shanahan tree offenses, and then you watch the Patriots tape
- 58:51Speaker 5: and it doesn't look like anything like that. So they
- 58:53Speaker 5: have to find a way to, you know, to make
- 58:55Speaker 5: that happen.
- 58:56Speaker 1: Smitty and Georgia says, what percentage of plays did Drake
- 58:59Speaker 1: line up on just last year and how does that
- 59:01Speaker 1: compare it to last week? Could his lack of accuracy
- 59:04Speaker 1: and poor footwork be caused by an increase in dropbacks
- 59:07Speaker 1: where he's historically a gun quarterback.
- 59:10Speaker 5: He was in shotgun for the vast majority of this
- 59:14Speaker 5: last game, And I wouldn't say that that's the biggest
- 59:19Speaker 5: issue is under center versus shotgun, but he has made
- 59:23Speaker 5: it pretty clear that the under center stuff is an adjustment,
- 59:26Speaker 5: like that's definitely been something that he has said to
- 59:29Speaker 5: me multiple times about it.
- 59:31Speaker 2: So do you think that feeds in it all to
- 59:33Speaker 2: some of their lack of success in the run game,
- 59:34Speaker 2: that maybe Josh's playbook more comfortable running under center rather
- 59:39Speaker 2: than gun runs.
- 59:40Speaker 5: Well under centers most coaches would prefer to run the
- 59:44Speaker 5: ball from under center. I would say just the lead
- 59:47Speaker 5: up that you get from the back being all the
- 59:49Speaker 5: way back in the backfield, and the head start that
- 59:52Speaker 5: he gets at the line of scrimmage. The deception of
- 59:55Speaker 5: being able to go left or right is big. You
- 59:58Speaker 5: know that there's just a lot of to being able
- 1:00:01Speaker 5: to run the football from under center. Play action works
- 1:00:03Speaker 5: better from under center than it does from shotgun. So ideally,
- 1:00:08Speaker 5: I think pretty much every team that doesn't have Jaden
- 1:00:10Speaker 5: Daniels or Lamar Jackson wants to be under center.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: Listen to Paul on Felger and Maz yesterday and they
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: asked them to bring them a gift next week. If
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: the Patriots lose.
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: I was under siege.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: Paul, bring them a giant crap sandwich. They'll love it
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: since their whole show was crap. And yes, I do
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: listen religiously. Hashtag hate listen Heaven is left. Speaking of food, Fredo's,
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: this is from Friedo. They're the parent company. Football fans
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: know that traditions matter, turning moments together into something truly epic.
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: There would inspire us to make our masa and tostitos
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: the traditional way, starting with whole corn kernels, no artificial flavors, colors,
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: or preservatives, all to give you that perfect crunch. Discover
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: your next tradition this football season. Head to the store.
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: Have be a Tostito's team bag and scan the code
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: for a chance to win a epic experience with the Patriots.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: Tostito's tradition matters, So I just want to get that
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: in there. What are you going to bring them if
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: the Patriots lose?
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: Well, I was thinking I have to give it some thought,
- 1:01:19Speaker 3: but if we could maybe you know, get a little
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: something from the pro shop. I was kind of thinking
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: something along those lines.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: Something that like they can leave out for shows to come.
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm glad. I'm glad actually that the emailer brought
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: that up, because that was my first thought. As soon
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: as they said it, I was like, we can, we
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: can do something with this. And then of course I'm Paul,
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: so I forgot about it and I remember back to
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: where the random game.
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: From six that's I mean, buying a present for somebody
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: in general is always something you kind of put off.
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: But I was thinking something that we could benefit from
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: giving them. Do you know what I mean?
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: That mini rivalry helmet. They're going to pop down, move
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: some product.
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: Let's go, so can you effort that we could just.
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: Go by it to know exactly if you want? How
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: about I'll keep it if they don't. If they win.
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: Why don't you ask our pr department if you could
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: give them a gift, what would you give them?
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: I don't know that.
- 1:02:15Speaker 2: Whoa, whoa.
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: I don't think that would go well.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: Now, Jay Wright saying, do you think the Patriots will
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: have Fton Chisholm active? I really like his play style,
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: knows how to get open. That's j from Missouri. No,
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: you think he'll be active for this game?
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: No, he's still doing scout team stuff. So you know,
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: he's the sixth receiver. And I mean Kyle Williams only
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: had about twelve snaps at the end, so he's the
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: other rookie seven snaps. So I mean, you guys did
- 1:02:43Speaker 2: know better than I would. But I mean this is
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: how kind of works sometimes rookie receivers. You know, Kyle
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: Williams is probably the fifth receiver, and they're working them
- 1:02:50Speaker 2: in a little bit, getting him some sample and see
- 1:02:52Speaker 2: if he, you know, blossoms.
- 1:02:54Speaker 3: If there's injuries, I think there's always a chance. I
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: can't imagine that you need six receivers dressed. So I
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: think if he comes out, who you're taking out? Yeah,
- 1:03:05Speaker 3: Kyle Williams.
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: Well, doesn't Booty have a shoulder? Yeah?
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: But he's not going to not play in the game.
- 1:03:12Speaker 3: He missed like three plays with the injury when it happened. Now,
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: I get it, adrenaline and all that. So to Fred's point,
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: maybe it's worse now. So if he, if he would
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: ever for whatever reason didn't play, then sure. But I
- 1:03:26Speaker 3: just don't. I don't know. I just don't see the
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: magical transformation in the offense that I guess I'm alone
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: on because we got like a couple of calls when
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: I was on yesterday with Mike and Tony. We have
- 1:03:38Speaker 3: a couple of emailers here, you know. Evidently it's a
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: bigger catch radius. I don't know, but I guess I
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: just don't. I'll be the loan dissenter there.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: Jordan writes in on Wednesday show, you Guys mentioned apparel,
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: and Paul replied, Chester buy apparel, and I thought in
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: my head while listening in the show, gosh, that's probably
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: a ten year old quote at this point. Wait, that
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: might be thirteen years years old. Then I realized that
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: I've been listening to you guys since eight, when I
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: was in high school. I've been listening for fifty percent
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: of my life. That's crazy to think about There are
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: times I missed the old crew, but I also love
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: Mike and Evan, even though Mike is really not new anymore.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: I love the show listen to it as much as
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: I can during long walks while working at the post office.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: You guys have me give me much needed relief by
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: bringing jokes, some great talk about the Patriots. Oh you're welcome.
- 1:04:30Speaker 3: You know what.
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: I really love that you put it. I think it
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: was email of the week with the guy and his
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: daughter Lucy, who is now like a fan of the show,
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: and I just thought that was, you know, so cool
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: to see, like, you know, definitely not our usual demographic
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: to see, but you know, to see a you know,
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: a young.
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: Patriots fan, so appreciate.
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: Why do I shout out?
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: Lucy interrdad Chester actually heard it and he reached out
- 1:04:50Speaker 3: to me, you know, thanks for the shout out.
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: Was the story behind on.
- 1:04:53Speaker 3: He just a passionate fan. He called in. He was
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: a frequent caller, but he just he had like a
- 1:05:00Speaker 3: fredlike rant one day about you know, sort of like
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: snap out of it, like positive a picture. It's all positive,
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: and it's like we need to be there, we need
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: to be loud, we need to have the confidence and
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: we need to buy apparel. It was part of his
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: whole like right psych hype video that became a little
- 1:05:20Speaker 3: stick by apparel.
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: Speaking of how was your windbreaker received yesterday, alex As
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: you put it on that shop Rivalries, Yeah, good fit,
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: good get to the pro shop supplies.
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: Rivalries Sideline gear available now at Fanatics, Todd and Garner.
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: I'm of the mindset that the Dolphins are, as one
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: set on the show, a wounded beast, but unlike many
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: like but unlike many there, I know they have the
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: talent to come roaring back. This game is not a gimme,
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: and I feel that Fred's guarantee is fraught with baseless optimism.
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: I'm not going to argue with that. I'm not going
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: to argue with that. I don't have a lot to
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: base it on at this point, because the evidence says
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: right now that the Patriots are on one. And there's
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: an old head coach that used to be the head
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: coach of this team that said, you are what your
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: record says you are.
- 1:06:18Speaker 2: So but you got a good feel for the league,
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: right I mean, do you feel like your feel for
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: the league is.
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: On point right now?
- 1:06:23Speaker 12: I do?
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: I do get some vibes. Yeah, just you feel it.
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: I feel like I have a decent feel for the league.
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: H If the Patriots win this game, I will effort
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: and owe to the curse in order to show my
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: humility at being wrong. However, I want some acknowledgment when
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: the Fish squish us. Well, absolutely you will. I'm not gonna, yeah,
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: we pretend it didn't happen.
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: Here thet I will be on and believe me, we're
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: not going to sit here and tell you no.
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: I might get mad.
- 1:06:56Speaker 3: I think everything was great.
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: I never got mad last week. Did I get mad
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: last week?
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: I don't remember getting mad. There is a scenario that
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: could lose this game that it wouldn't like completely.
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: Four.
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: Yes, they wouldn't completely end all my hope. And that's
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: Drake may playing a great game. The offense looking really productive,
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: kind of like the Jets lost. I'm not telling you
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: I'd be thrilled with that. Yeah, but I'm just saying
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: that might not signal the end.
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: Of They're starting to get starting to find some stride
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: on offense, which is so important.
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: I mean, if they lose this game, like they just
- 1:07:30Speaker 3: get blasted, like thirty four to thirteen I'm just going
- 1:07:34Speaker 3: to tell you now if you don't want to hear stuff,
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: because Michael being.

- 1:10:26Speaker 12: I was practicing. Yeah, it's good. Good to get back
- 1:10:29Speaker 12: out there.
- 1:10:31Speaker 17: We'll get on a new week, uh, new opponent and
- 1:10:33Speaker 17: just uh yeah, I think anybody's got you know, everybody
- 1:10:35Speaker 17: gets an energy for your division rival and uh, your
- 1:10:38Speaker 17: division opponent. So uh you're looking forward to get back
- 1:10:41Speaker 17: out there, and all these guys brought today and you know,
- 1:10:43Speaker 17: get stuff to clean up and look at. But I
- 1:10:46Speaker 17: thought it was a good energy out there.
- 1:10:47Speaker 12: Today. What for you were the biggest areas improvement cleaning
- 1:10:50Speaker 12: the end of this week. Yeah, I think, uh hey,
- 1:10:53Speaker 12: I think this just take you next step.
- 1:10:56Speaker 17: I think, you know, part of has moved on and
- 1:10:57Speaker 17: part has learning from from stuff about the game. I think, uh,
- 1:11:00Speaker 17: you'll get off on a better start, you know, first
- 1:11:02Speaker 17: less than three, and now we have a good field
- 1:11:03Speaker 17: position on that first you know possession, so you'll find
- 1:11:07Speaker 17: a way to you know, start faster. I think that's
- 1:11:09Speaker 17: a kind of a theme for the team. Start faster.
- 1:11:12Speaker 17: I think from there, just you know, those I like
- 1:11:15Speaker 17: to have back. I think I feel, like I said
- 1:11:17Speaker 17: every game, but particularly you know ones where I like
- 1:11:20Speaker 17: I had guys open and from there just uh.
- 1:11:24Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:11:25Speaker 17: I think down in the red zone, I think he'll
- 1:11:27Speaker 17: get it better down in the red zone where a
- 1:11:28Speaker 17: decision making on my part or accy or just in general.
- 1:11:32Speaker 12: I think we've got to scort us downs and we're
- 1:11:33Speaker 12: down in the red zone. What's your comfort level in
- 1:11:35Speaker 12: this offense right now? Yeah, I think we're building.
- 1:11:38Speaker 17: I think you felt good, you know, kind of reciting
- 1:11:40Speaker 17: the plays and getting out of the huddle and getting
- 1:11:43Speaker 17: in and out of checks, you know, out there during
- 1:11:45Speaker 17: the game, So it felt good to get that in
- 1:11:46Speaker 17: the game's rep and I think you'll, you'll continue to
- 1:11:48Speaker 17: get better between uh, you know, me and coach, and
- 1:11:50Speaker 17: I think, you know, more we do and the more
- 1:11:52Speaker 17: we're kind of seeing the same things and you know,
- 1:11:55Speaker 17: stuff we can revert back to in the game setting
- 1:11:57Speaker 17: will always gotta help us going forward. And I think
- 1:11:59Speaker 17: those guys guys, you know they were catching the football
- 1:12:02Speaker 17: and blocking the front. I thought they, you know, play
- 1:12:04Speaker 17: their butts off, and I think, uh, you know, they
- 1:12:05Speaker 17: canture a lot of credit and I could do my part.
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: Great.
- 1:12:08Speaker 5: Do you do you think the fixes are something that
- 1:12:11Speaker 5: can happen relatively quickly or is this something that's gonna
- 1:12:14Speaker 5: evolve over the season?
- 1:12:16Speaker 17: Fixes and meaning what needs to have happened to the
- 1:12:20Speaker 17: offense to be better. Yeah, I think, uh, it's something
- 1:12:23Speaker 17: we're working working hard to you'll fix this week.
- 1:12:26Speaker 12: You know, we're gonna get back.
- 1:12:27Speaker 17: And there's one game that you know, we want, we wish,
- 1:12:29Speaker 17: you know, we would have had and it's like we
- 1:12:31Speaker 17: could have had, you know. But at the same time,
- 1:12:33Speaker 17: I think, have we got pieces, We got guys that
- 1:12:36Speaker 17: you know, play hard and then did a lot of
- 1:12:37Speaker 17: good things you know on Sunday, so build off that
- 1:12:39Speaker 17: and and try to learn from that and and establish
- 1:12:42Speaker 17: the run and build off that. But yeah, I think
- 1:12:44Speaker 17: that the goal is to, you know, everybody after week
- 1:12:46Speaker 17: one is trying to you know, kind of assess.
- 1:12:47Speaker 12: Where they're at and get back there in week two.
- 1:12:49Speaker 12: And I think it's you know, my job to.
- 1:12:53Speaker 17: Kind of gets going and like I said, try to
- 1:12:54Speaker 17: start fast and from there just uh, you know, take it,
- 1:12:57Speaker 17: give me create positive plays. I think us that we're
- 1:12:59Speaker 17: trying to just positive plays and from there, I feel
- 1:13:01Speaker 17: like if it don't get our own way, I think
- 1:13:03Speaker 17: we'll be fine.
- 1:13:05Speaker 12: Great goods.
- 1:13:05Speaker 18: You mentioned, you know there's throws you'd like that back.
- 1:13:08Speaker 18: Was there anything haven't watched him again how it fell?
- 1:13:11Speaker 18: Is there anything that was sort of consistent on those
- 1:13:13Speaker 18: froze Is that a mechanical thing? Is it a recognition
- 1:13:16Speaker 18: thing that was there a consistent theme on them?
- 1:13:18Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 1:13:18Speaker 12: I think just some of them's rushing them.
- 1:13:21Speaker 17: I think, you know, I see him and you're kind
- 1:13:24Speaker 17: of rushing to try to get out so as quick
- 1:13:25Speaker 17: as you can. That want to populars getting close to
- 1:13:27Speaker 17: the sideline with kind of a trapped corner. They actually
- 1:13:29Speaker 17: try to get it out as quick as I can
- 1:13:30Speaker 17: to them to get the first you know, but from
- 1:13:32Speaker 17: there I think, you know, really I saw I have
- 1:13:35Speaker 17: been thrown it pretty good and you'll see it well,
- 1:13:37Speaker 17: so I think, you know, sometimes there's your throws that uh,
- 1:13:41Speaker 17: like I said, you just you know, man, that could
- 1:13:44Speaker 17: have helped us. And you know, I think I made
- 1:13:45Speaker 17: some some pretty good throws throughout the game. You know
- 1:13:47Speaker 17: that I felt good about actually wise, so uh yeah,
- 1:13:50Speaker 17: I'm not gonna you know, over harp on too much.
- 1:13:53Speaker 17: And at the same time, you gotta hit guys when
- 1:13:55Speaker 17: they're open, so it's a it's an even kind of balance.
- 1:13:57Speaker 17: But uh yeah, I think I definitely actually is one
- 1:13:59Speaker 17: of you know, biggest thing is a quarterback, so you know,
- 1:14:01Speaker 17: being accurate is what I take pride in, and you
- 1:14:03Speaker 17: can't miss open.
- 1:14:04Speaker 18: Guysfon Digs told us it's important to him to give
- 1:14:07Speaker 18: you positive feedback and reinforcement.
- 1:14:10Speaker 12: As a captain in the trench sky.
- 1:14:12Speaker 18: Now, like, how do you feel you're experiencing with pressure
- 1:14:15Speaker 18: and expectation that that comes with that.
- 1:14:17Speaker 12: Yeah, I think the guys are being great around me.
- 1:14:18Speaker 17: I think you know, they're pumping me up and staying
- 1:14:21Speaker 17: positive in the huddles, got some juice.
- 1:14:23Speaker 12: So that's that's the biggest thing.
- 1:14:24Speaker 17: I think that kind of being in the huddle and
- 1:14:26Speaker 17: have some juice and kind of not having all eyes
- 1:14:28Speaker 17: on each other, you know, waiting for somebody to say something.
- 1:14:30Speaker 17: I feel like they have some juice in the huddle,
- 1:14:32Speaker 17: and that's what I'm trying to bring to practice. You know,
- 1:14:34Speaker 17: bring some juice and positive energy and you'll let you know,
- 1:14:37Speaker 17: not let that game kind of bleed into this game.
- 1:14:40Speaker 17: We just add so just try to you know, kind
- 1:14:42Speaker 17: of come out here and like I said, do what
- 1:14:44Speaker 17: I can to get the guys going, you know, early,
- 1:14:46Speaker 17: and you're playing a different kind of climate, so adjusted
- 1:14:50Speaker 17: to that, and it's getting.
- 1:14:50Speaker 12: Cold a little bit around here. But you know, those
- 1:14:52Speaker 12: guys do a great job pumping me up.
- 1:14:53Speaker 17: And I got to realize that, you know, I'm still young,
- 1:14:56Speaker 17: but at the same time, I still got to you know,
- 1:14:58Speaker 17: be a voice and and help those guys around me
- 1:15:00Speaker 17: because you know my voice, you know, it means something.
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: Courage, rabble, so that they would evaluate you're putting too
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: much on your plate early in the season. Have you
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: noticed any changes that you put.
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: Out this so far this week?
- 1:15:10Speaker 17: Oh, I mean I think, uh, you know, any team
- 1:15:13Speaker 17: we're trying to established to run, so you know, from
- 1:15:16Speaker 17: that point, I think you win, you win games running.
- 1:15:18Speaker 12: Football and stop in the run. So trying to set
- 1:15:20Speaker 12: that up, you know, I.
- 1:15:21Speaker 17: Feel like I'm like the guys, we got guys that
- 1:15:23Speaker 17: we can go to in space and make plays and uh,
- 1:15:26Speaker 17: you know, we can hurt teams in the past. So
- 1:15:27Speaker 17: I don't think, you know, I don't feel like anything's changed,
- 1:15:30Speaker 17: and I'm just trying to do, you know, my part.
- 1:15:31Speaker 12: And whatever they ask me to do.
- 1:15:34Speaker 2: Anything like too much on your plate?
- 1:15:36Speaker 17: No, I mean I think like I said, uh, you
- 1:15:39Speaker 17: know previously, any time you're playing quarterback in the NFL's
- 1:15:42Speaker 17: it's a lot on your plate. You know, you're playing
- 1:15:44Speaker 17: quarterback for you know, one of thirty two teams. You
- 1:15:46Speaker 17: know that's it's a lot. And you know something I
- 1:15:49Speaker 17: take I don't think for granted. You know what a
- 1:15:51Speaker 17: special position is in this league, and there's a lot
- 1:15:53Speaker 17: of good God comes with it, and there's a lot
- 1:15:55Speaker 17: of stuff that's utt in plate.
- 1:15:56Speaker 12: That's just part of it.
- 1:15:56Speaker 17: So trying to do whatever I can do to you know,
- 1:15:58Speaker 17: study as much as I can, and you know, hear
- 1:16:00Speaker 17: the play calls and started the formations before it calls them.
- 1:16:03Speaker 17: And yeah, like I said, there's a lot of things
- 1:16:05Speaker 17: that go into it being accurate and play calling and
- 1:16:07Speaker 17: getting in and out of play. So just trying to,
- 1:16:10Speaker 17: like I said, get a get a good grip. I
- 1:16:12Speaker 17: think the more more we do that, you know, kind
- 1:16:14Speaker 17: of throughout the weeks and this season go on, the
- 1:16:16Speaker 17: better I'll feel for in this offense and.
- 1:16:19Speaker 12: Talk, uh, keep talking about the plate.
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: So you are never gonna say, you know, I'm not
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: it's too much my plate, I can't do it.
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: You're always gonna as a player competitor, I would badge.
- 1:16:29Speaker 10: So I can do I can get it.
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: Are there points in which you might say, you know what,
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: it's probably not a bad idea to streamline that it's
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: a funny splot that you're it and we don't want
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: to say.
- 1:16:39Speaker 3: It's too much, but you have to be realistic about
- 1:16:42Speaker 3: I'm not there on that yet.
- 1:16:44Speaker 17: Yeah, you know what, you spend so much time for us,
- 1:16:46Speaker 17: what you're here in April four and kind of through
- 1:16:48Speaker 17: that good building blocks of the offense, and I think
- 1:16:52Speaker 17: you know more of that is you know, hey, I
- 1:16:53Speaker 17: might not like this play this week, or hey, I
- 1:16:55Speaker 17: might not like, you know, you know, something out of
- 1:16:58Speaker 17: this look.
- 1:16:59Speaker 12: So it's more of that me and I'll kind of share.
- 1:17:01Speaker 17: My opinions, you know, with coach rather than you not
- 1:17:04Speaker 17: taking taking taking the challenge on. So I'm just trying
- 1:17:07Speaker 17: to coaches, trying to put you know, the best plays
- 1:17:09Speaker 17: in the huddle that we feel good about and that
- 1:17:10Speaker 17: are our best plays, and then from there just try
- 1:17:13Speaker 17: to go and execute.
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: About sliding, how natural does that come to you?
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: And and is that something you actually practice?
- 1:17:20Speaker 17: Yeah, you know, I play baseball growing up, so slide
- 1:17:22Speaker 17: and was you know, pretty natural. Slid head first more
- 1:17:25Speaker 17: in second base more than I can remember, but uh yeah,
- 1:17:28Speaker 17: I think just being able to get down slid a
- 1:17:30Speaker 17: couple of times in the games, and I think I
- 1:17:33Speaker 17: do better job instead of run sideways, try to give
- 1:17:34Speaker 17: as much I can inside, So give as much as
- 1:17:37Speaker 17: I can. But you know, really from there in a
- 1:17:38Speaker 17: third down and kind of the good line to try
- 1:17:40Speaker 17: to try to be big and you know, not take
- 1:17:43Speaker 17: too much of a hit, but you'll give what I can.
- 1:17:46Speaker 5: How do you feel you're with your mechanics in your
- 1:17:49Speaker 5: coat work right now?
- 1:17:50Speaker 12: You feel like I did plays something. Yeah, it's like
- 1:17:52Speaker 12: I've been.
- 1:17:52Speaker 17: I fel like I've been, you know, I think throughout
- 1:17:56Speaker 17: training camp and and throughout over the summer, you know,
- 1:17:59Speaker 17: trying to get grip on the offense, get a grip
- 1:18:01Speaker 17: on kind of the timing and the routes, and have
- 1:18:03Speaker 17: times with my feet I think, you know, I was,
- 1:18:06Speaker 17: I was accurate and it made some throws when you know,
- 1:18:09Speaker 17: my feet timed up with the routes and with the concept.
- 1:18:10Speaker 17: So just gotta you'll stay on my all my stuff
- 1:18:13Speaker 17: kind of throughout the week of not letting little things
- 1:18:15Speaker 17: like that and you'll go to waste because I feel
- 1:18:17Speaker 17: like when you know, got a good base and turn
- 1:18:20Speaker 17: my shoulder at it and and let it rip, I've
- 1:18:22Speaker 17: been on target.
- 1:18:23Speaker 12: So that's just the main thing. And I feel good
- 1:18:25Speaker 12: throwing it. So that's what matters.
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: Same as what you were doing last year in terms
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: of like left and all that stuff.
- 1:18:32Speaker 12: Yeah, you same setup.
- 1:18:33Speaker 17: I think, like I said, different, it's a little different
- 1:18:38Speaker 17: offensively with under center and you really kind of kind
- 1:18:43Speaker 17: of the same stuff. But yeah, just trying to apply
- 1:18:45Speaker 17: to this offense. I came and remember some of the
- 1:18:47Speaker 17: different stuff from last year. But uh, yeah, trying to
- 1:18:49Speaker 17: keep the same stuff and try to wrap it and
- 1:18:51Speaker 17: just continue repping it in the throws that I feel
- 1:18:53Speaker 17: like you we should have back, try to get those
- 1:18:55Speaker 17: after practice and you know, throughout practice, try to work
- 1:18:58Speaker 17: on throws and making throws from from think it's tough
- 1:19:00Speaker 17: to emulate and practice, you know, defensive line and kind
- 1:19:03Speaker 17: of you know, pushing the offensive line back into you
- 1:19:06Speaker 17: and not getting able to step into it. So some
- 1:19:07Speaker 17: of those throws are tough to emulating and not trust
- 1:19:09Speaker 17: what I try to do in my individual time after practice.
- 1:19:13Speaker 12: You guys talk about flushing it, you know they move on.
- 1:19:16Speaker 3: We has that that easy for you?
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:19:20Speaker 17: I think kind of throughout the of course of the
- 1:19:24Speaker 17: last season, you know, you learn it's it's any given
- 1:19:26Speaker 17: week in this league.
- 1:19:28Speaker 12: Shoot.
- 1:19:28Speaker 17: I think it's it's one of those things that you
- 1:19:29Speaker 17: got to bring it every week and and can't let
- 1:19:32Speaker 17: you know, last week kind of dwell in this week.
- 1:19:33Speaker 17: And I think that's what you know, these guys and
- 1:19:35Speaker 17: what coaches is talking about and then preaching and you know,
- 1:19:38Speaker 17: wanting to start fast. So for this for me, I think, yeah,
- 1:19:42Speaker 17: flushing it, but also you know, not just learn from it.
- 1:19:44Speaker 17: I think you know, learn from it. Learn as much
- 1:19:46Speaker 17: as I can try to get on the wing side
- 1:19:48Speaker 17: of things, and that's what you know.
- 1:19:49Speaker 12: I'm here to do. So thank you, guys.
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: And now great moments in history. One o'clock on CBS,
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: the one and one Bears are at the oh and two.
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: Colts ind by one.
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: Oh tough one? Ah, what's that? What's that really? Though? Fred? Well,
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: there minus two then plus two. Well there you go,
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: tells y'all you need to know.
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: I'm gonna go Cleveland at home. No Indies plus one,
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: they get three, so they're minus two.
- 1:20:21Speaker 3: They're at home, so they they get three, right, right,
- 1:20:26Speaker 3: So it's really like they're plus two.
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: They should be four.
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: So if you're getting three, that means they're favored by one.
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: They're not getting it.
- 1:20:34Speaker 3: They are get they're giving points. They're favored by one.
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: They didn't get the three.
- 1:20:41Speaker 3: If you could follow the nonsensical three points for thee
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: what would the spread be if it was neutral? Don't
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: bring me into this any one four one.
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: Plus three because you get three points that you would
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: you're giving, yeah, plus three.
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: Plus two if it was zero.
- 1:20:57Speaker 3: I thought you get three three at home? He says,
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: you get three it's not it doesn't exist. But he
- 1:21:02Speaker 3: insists that you get three at home.
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: It's a rule.
- 1:21:04Speaker 3: So they're favored by one.
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: This isn't three minus three zero, so.
- 1:21:08Speaker 3: That would be minusing three.
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: You said it was zero, that would be you.
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: Gotta hurry, We gotta hurry, you gotta hurry. That's another
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: great moment from all right back here of Patriot's Unfilled Today.
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: Five five Pats five hundred is the hotline podcast at
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: patriots dot com. Is the ever gets old, never gets old.
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: It's a good stick. It's our who's I would just
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: reiterate that if it's our who's on you get three.
- 1:21:32Speaker 3: For being at home? That means they were plus two,
- 1:21:35Speaker 3: they were minus one. Are you plus two you got
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: to give you're giving them three. I'm just saying, if
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: you go by your logic, it's not my logic, it's
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: your logic.
- 1:21:45Speaker 1: I don't give him three for being there's a point
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: missing there.
- 1:21:48Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm confused too. Is the point to zero in
- 1:21:50Speaker 6: between the minus one and the plus one?
- 1:21:53Speaker 3: Yes, so you go from plus two to plus one
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: to zero to minus one. If you're getting three for
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: being home, it can be a push. So you have
- 1:22:01Speaker 3: to subtract. You're subtracting, right, So that's all I'm saying.
- 1:22:04Speaker 3: But I don't think it exists anyway.
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: So you don't think teams get points for being home?
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: They say they do.
- 1:22:10Speaker 3: Vegas spreads are based on who they think is going
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: to get the touts.
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: Say they do.
- 1:22:14Speaker 4: But about it, you don't think it plays in at all?
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: Oh no, do I think the home field matters, of course,
- 1:22:22Speaker 3: but I don't think it's It's like, I don't think
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: every home team gets three points. I don't think that
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: not a given. No, that's but if it's the Tows,
- 1:22:33Speaker 3: you get more points. You should be more apt to
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: be favored if you're home, because you're more apt to
- 1:22:38Speaker 3: win the game the to.
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: The touts say you do get points for being home
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: to the Sharps.
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: But you just say you get three from being used
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: to be That's what I've two and a half. But
- 1:22:51Speaker 3: I think it varies based on the game. I think
- 1:22:54Speaker 3: Alex just made a really good point, like mile High
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: is worth more than three.
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: Well, the dever has all home games, so well, back
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: to speaking of buying apparel, Chester in Portland's on the phone.
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: What's up Chester, what's going on?
- 1:23:11Speaker 10: Guys, how you doing good? Today's my birthday. I took
- 1:23:15Speaker 10: the day off.
- 1:23:15Speaker 3: Hey, happy birthday, Happy birthday on your birthday.
- 1:23:20Speaker 10: Yeah, nine to eleven. Never forget right, right, you know,
- 1:23:23Speaker 10: But I'm loving to buy apparel of revival. You know
- 1:23:25Speaker 10: it's about eleven years. I think that came around right
- 1:23:28Speaker 10: after the wear on the Cincinnati week, if I'm not mistaken.
- 1:23:31Speaker 10: I was, but it was so fired up about getting
- 1:23:33Speaker 10: back onto it. But it's just real quick. It's a
- 1:23:37Speaker 10: tough loss on Sunday, you know, But this hyperbole is
- 1:23:40Speaker 10: out my nerves and I think on many with the
- 1:23:42Speaker 10: you know, people thinking that this team doesn't have it,
- 1:23:46Speaker 10: I just want to say this. You know, first of all,
- 1:23:48Speaker 10: you know Chris with the scf U in LA, you
- 1:23:51Speaker 10: know enough with that doom and gloom. You know a
- 1:23:53Speaker 10: lot of us are really trying to get excited about football.
- 1:23:56Speaker 10: I mean, all off season were collectively forecasting this year
- 1:23:59Speaker 10: is being several seasons away from playoff caliber.
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: And you know, for me, not the national guys. Yeah,
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: national guys are looking at eleven or twelve wins playoffs.
- 1:24:08Speaker 10: Yeah yeah, Paul. But you know, those of us to
- 1:24:10Speaker 10: watch this team, I think we really know you know
- 1:24:12Speaker 10: the holes that need to be plugged over time. Yeah,
- 1:24:14Speaker 10: I agree, right, I mean you see the holes when
- 1:24:18Speaker 10: you look at the team up post. I mean, you know,
- 1:24:20Speaker 10: every day I'm watching and see what's going on. I'm
- 1:24:23Speaker 10: happy to see a good first half though, you know,
- 1:24:25Speaker 10: it's something to build on. The second half was crap,
- 1:24:28Speaker 10: but I was really happy to see them at least,
- 1:24:29Speaker 10: you know, fighting in that first half. I think there's
- 1:24:31Speaker 10: a lot of great tape that they can learn from
- 1:24:34Speaker 10: and move forward, you know, but go in this weekend.
- 1:24:36Speaker 10: It's gonna be tough, but I think we can really
- 1:24:38Speaker 10: take down Miami if Drake can just get it crapped
- 1:24:40Speaker 10: together and get our target with some thros here. We
- 1:24:42Speaker 10: we really really need him to deliver. But you know,
- 1:24:45Speaker 10: time for this team to really tap into the head
- 1:24:47Speaker 10: coach and get gritty, get out there and fight. Let's
- 1:24:49Speaker 10: just switch the fish to me at twenty three seventeen
- 1:24:52Speaker 10: seems to be if we can pull this off. The
- 1:24:54Speaker 10: score but let's book that buy apparel, baby, Let's get
- 1:24:58Speaker 10: a win, all right?
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: Thanks Chester.
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: So Alex, that was a very low key, dude subdued
- 1:25:03Speaker 3: version of it, but like you feel like, you know,
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: squish the fairs by apparel that that's I appreciate.
- 1:25:08Speaker 4: The really like level headed optimism.
- 1:25:11Speaker 3: Though yeah, the only pushback I would say is like
- 1:25:13Speaker 3: really and he and he addressed it, ches to address it.
- 1:25:16Speaker 3: It's like Christian in La who we kind of think
- 1:25:19Speaker 3: is really he's embracing us, He's embracing the heel turning,
- 1:25:23Speaker 3: and it's actually been very funny. I think he's been funny.
- 1:25:26Speaker 3: I don't think there's been a lot of gloom and
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: doom like it's over talk.
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: I don't read all the emails.
- 1:25:32Speaker 3: I know, Okay, that's a good point.
- 1:25:35Speaker 4: There's a lot.
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: That's why I haven't heard as much of it.
- 1:25:37Speaker 6: I don't know if there's a lot of sentiment that
- 1:25:39Speaker 6: it's already over. But there's definitely a lot of negativity.
- 1:25:43Speaker 6: I think, oh, expectations, who are just waiting.
- 1:25:45Speaker 3: But how can you not have negativity based off of
- 1:25:48Speaker 3: that second half?
- 1:25:48Speaker 6: Now we're all upset, and not just the second half,
- 1:25:51Speaker 6: but like you and me walking into work at the
- 1:25:53Speaker 6: same time, I think, what was it Tuesday morning after
- 1:25:55Speaker 6: that Monday night game and we were just like watching
- 1:25:58Speaker 6: Baltimore in Buffalo or Sunday night, Yeah, yep.
- 1:26:01Speaker 4: Where we were just like damn.
- 1:26:03Speaker 6: It just reminds you how far we are, how much
- 1:26:06Speaker 6: more talent we need, kind of going back to like
- 1:26:08Speaker 6: if Tyreek Hill became available today and would we want him,
- 1:26:12Speaker 6: it still wouldn't be enough.
- 1:26:13Speaker 4: There's still so much that needs to be addressed.
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: Yep, Franklin and Baltimore. Contrary to what the emailer said,
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: I don't think Fred's thoughts about the game are unfounded optimism.
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: In fact, if the Patriots can grab a two score
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: lead early, I expect Dolphins to unravel and implode into
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: a pile of star kissed tuna cans as Tua throws
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: yet another bad interception. Squish the fish in LFG pats
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: all right, Franklin and Baltimore.
- 1:26:38Speaker 3: All right, So with that, I would just say this,
- 1:26:41Speaker 3: and I agree. I think this is a very plausible
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: scenario that can unfold. I think if the Patriots get
- 1:26:46Speaker 3: off to a good start, Miami can do it. But
- 1:26:48Speaker 3: you're not necessarily doing anything about the Patriots. It's more
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: about Miami. And that's what I think Todd's point was,
- 1:26:54Speaker 3: like unfounded optimism, it's because you think the other team
- 1:26:58Speaker 3: is a train wreck right now. That's what kind of
- 1:27:00Speaker 3: worries me, like, what happens if Miami isn't a train
- 1:27:03Speaker 3: wreck on Sunday? What if they show up to play?
- 1:27:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean the embarrassing Week one, you know, but
- 1:27:11Speaker 4: I think both teams.
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: My unfounded optimism isn't just because of Miami. If we're
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: playing the Chiefs, that would have guaranteed to win. I
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: just think we're gonna win.
- 1:27:20Speaker 4: I don't think it's.
- 1:27:23Speaker 6: I don't think it's unfounded because I think you have
- 1:27:25Speaker 6: great intuition. But then I might pull back after the
- 1:27:29Speaker 6: Chiefs comment.
- 1:27:31Speaker 3: Just realized that he was going to say they're going
- 1:27:32Speaker 3: to win no matter what, and he realized.
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: Theounded comes in, right, Yeah, it's it's not based on anything.
- 1:27:41Speaker 3: You know, alex Is won and oh picking Patriots games
- 1:27:43Speaker 3: no one else can do.
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: That's true, Tom and New Jersey.
- 1:27:46Speaker 4: I took some heat.
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: You got to stance, I'm you know. Famously, back in
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: the PFW days when the Border war was at its highest,
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: Mike g Reece, who was a member of our team
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: at that time. He wasn't with ESPN, he was working
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: for US, picked the Jets to win in the paper
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: and he caught shrapnel on the team plane from players yep.
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: Henry Thomas, I heard you did a bad thing, little man.
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: It was very lighthearted. It was very lighthearted.
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, they know what really was mean to it.
- 1:28:24Speaker 3: So we did get we got some static. Week two
- 1:28:28Speaker 3: of eight, Matt Castle's first start was at the Metal
- 1:28:31Speaker 3: Lands against the Jets, and at the time, Mike Parenti
- 1:28:36Speaker 3: was here. I was here, and Andy Hart was here,
- 1:28:38Speaker 3: and we all picked the Jets and the Patriots went
- 1:28:41Speaker 3: down and won, and we're getting on the bus to
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: come back to the airport to come home, and we
- 1:28:46Speaker 3: used to be on at the time. Was bus four,
- 1:28:48Speaker 3: I remember, Freddy. Now it's like seventeen buses. I don't know.
- 1:28:53Speaker 3: Bus four was you know, media relations, content like us,
- 1:28:59Speaker 3: you know the video crew, you know support staff. So
- 1:29:03Speaker 3: the support staff is more like football. They're all in
- 1:29:06Speaker 3: the back and they were given us the business and
- 1:29:10Speaker 3: like and it was not lighthearted. Was not lighthearted. I'm
- 1:29:14Speaker 3: not gonna get into that. I'll tell you off air, though.
- 1:29:18Speaker 3: And I've since sort of mended fences with this one person.
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: But I turned around. They were really giving Mike Parenti
- 1:29:24Speaker 3: and it was Mike's first year, so it's basically the
- 1:29:27Speaker 3: second game that Mike was with and he was like
- 1:29:30Speaker 3: really offended by I said, hey, said, we got it wrong.
- 1:29:34Speaker 3: We made it, we made a bad pick, and he goes, yeah,
- 1:29:37Speaker 3: he goes, it was a really bad one. I go, yeah,
- 1:29:39Speaker 3: you know what. The last time I got one wrong
- 1:29:42Speaker 3: was the Super Bowl last year. I didn't remember you
- 1:29:45Speaker 3: guys making fun of me about that one. That was
- 1:29:47Speaker 3: the undefeated season. Silence. There was silence after that because
- 1:29:51Speaker 3: I picked the Patriots to beat the Giants and go undefeated.
- 1:29:54Speaker 3: I didn't hear anybody making fun of me for getting
- 1:29:56Speaker 3: that one wrong. Like what's the difference?
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: You know?
- 1:29:59Speaker 3: And then and we ended up sort of he apologized that.
- 1:30:03Speaker 3: Like this was like a year later, Like he's like,
- 1:30:07Speaker 3: you know, I was out of line, and I go, yeah,
- 1:30:08Speaker 3: I know. It's like there was no need for it.
- 1:30:11Speaker 3: And like poor Mike, it's like his second game ever,
- 1:30:14Speaker 3: and he's like, is this what happens? I never ever
- 1:30:17Speaker 3: not picked the Patrick. Is that what happens?
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:30:20Speaker 3: And that was the only time that ever happened. In fairness,
- 1:30:22Speaker 3: you know, Bill used to have a little snarky comments
- 1:30:25Speaker 3: once in a while, but not like that. This was
- 1:30:27Speaker 3: they were they were like, let.
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: Us have it. Yeah, I remember Pete Carroll's first year, Uh,
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: the Jets beat us and we put on the cover
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: the Jets quarterback. It was Foley right, what was his name,
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: Matt And I'm a motivational and uh yeah, we had
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: him and Broadway Foe, you know, play on Broadway.
- 1:30:54Speaker 3: Joe friend used to come up with some really good headlines.
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: And and so I got back the Ark. I got
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: a call and at that time we were I was
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: working in Boston at the office and because there was
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: no there was no room at the old Stadium, and
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: Pete Carroll called me. It's like, you know what it's
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: like here when it comes to the Jets. That was chickens,
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: you know, putting him on the cover. So I went
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: down there and I met with him in person, and
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: we became actually pretty good friends after that.
- 1:31:22Speaker 3: But like I didn't really understand he was upset. I
- 1:31:24Speaker 3: didn't really understand Pete's u anger, you know, I knew that,
- 1:31:29Speaker 3: like he had some things with the Jets. Obviously that's
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: the whole thing when Parcels left and that's that was
- 1:31:33Speaker 3: the real boy.
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: Well, he was told whatever you do, don't lose to.
- 1:31:37Speaker 3: The like, how are we supposed to put a cover
- 1:31:39Speaker 3: together after losing a game without the other team being
- 1:31:42Speaker 3: on the you know what, even like, yeah, I didn't
- 1:31:44Speaker 3: really well, I you know, it.
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: Was just that quartering that a team kind of rubbing
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: it in. He thought.
- 1:31:51Speaker 3: Maybe I didn't think. I didn't look at it that
- 1:31:53Speaker 3: way at all. Yeah, but he did, No, I know
- 1:31:55Speaker 3: he did. I just think that he was a little
- 1:31:57Speaker 3: out of line.
- 1:31:59Speaker 4: Because it wasn't the Globe or the Herald writing.
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: Yeah, it was the team's own paper kind of rubbing
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: it in.
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: But again, like you have to say what happened in
- 1:32:09Speaker 3: the game, And I don't think Fred's cover was out
- 1:32:13Speaker 3: of line, even though that that was before me, so
- 1:32:15Speaker 3: I wouldn't have talked you out of it if I
- 1:32:17Speaker 3: had been here. I think that was a good cover.
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: Shakespeare, Tom and New Jersey just curious. Curious with Gonzalez's
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: injury happening in the off season, it seems easier to
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: sweep it under the rug and not really ever address it,
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: while in season injuries are talked about more and addressed
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: to the public. Why does it depend on the individual
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: due to hippo laws.
- 1:32:42Speaker 3: I don't think Dallas's injury didn't happen in the off
- 1:32:44Speaker 3: season happened in training camp.
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: Well that's off season. No, it's not. Well, I know
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: what he means. I don't think regular season.
- 1:32:52Speaker 3: I don't think he thinks he I don't know. Maybe
- 1:32:54Speaker 3: I was putting words in the mod I thought he
- 1:32:56Speaker 3: was saying suggesting he came into training camp with an injury. No,
- 1:32:59Speaker 3: I think he's Bailey practice.
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: I think he meant it didn't happen during the regular season.
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: I don't really like that's no difference. Yeah, people are
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: talking about it.
- 1:33:07Speaker 3: See, I do think there's a difference between off season, right, like,
- 1:33:10Speaker 3: because you don't know what happened.
- 1:33:11Speaker 4: Well, that's the thing. The preseason, you don't see the
- 1:33:13Speaker 4: actual play or the injury.
- 1:33:15Speaker 6: Like maybe a couple of videos got out of it,
- 1:33:17Speaker 6: but we saw and remember, Yeah, whereas if it happens
- 1:33:21Speaker 6: in a game on national television.
- 1:33:23Speaker 3: So I would agree with his premise, do you know
- 1:33:24Speaker 3: what I mean? Like, sometimes guys get hurt working out
- 1:33:28Speaker 3: on their own and they're on pup to start training
- 1:33:31Speaker 3: camp or NFI or something like that, and there isn't
- 1:33:34Speaker 3: as much talk about it because you don't know what happened.
- 1:33:38Speaker 3: This happened what we were there, We saw it, and
- 1:33:41Speaker 3: we saw him running across the field. I think he
- 1:33:42Speaker 3: was chasing Diggs on the play, and all of a
- 1:33:44Speaker 3: sudden you just reached back and grabbed his hamstring. First
- 1:33:47Speaker 3: day in pads, First day in pads. Yeah, yep, so,
- 1:33:51Speaker 3: but no, I don't.
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: Think anyone's sweeping the injury under the rug.
- 1:33:54Speaker 3: No, it's the contrary. People are really concerned about it.
- 1:33:57Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like the biggest storyline and they're.
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: Talking about Everyone knows it's a hamstring. It's not like
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: a leg. We know it's a hamstring, and it's just
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: a matter of.
- 1:34:06Speaker 3: When he'sressed it several times.
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: Yeah, Eric has been holding on for a while. What's up, Eric,
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: I hope you didn't miss class.
- 1:34:17Speaker 11: Uh No, what's up guys? So, uh, just a straightforward
- 1:34:23Speaker 11: question for you, guys, what do you identify as Miami's
- 1:34:27Speaker 11: lead points on defense? And then how would you use
- 1:34:30Speaker 11: Traveon Henderson to exploit that. I'll take your answer off
- 1:34:34Speaker 11: the air, squish the fish.
- 1:34:36Speaker 3: Yeah, the secondary, that's the weak point of the defense.
- 1:34:38Speaker 3: I think the front seven for Miami, at least on paper,
- 1:34:42Speaker 3: isn't bad, but the secondary is in complete shambles. I
- 1:34:46Speaker 3: don't know necessarily how Travon Henderson would factor into that.
- 1:34:50Speaker 3: But I do think what Mike and Evan talked about
- 1:34:54Speaker 3: in the immediate aftermath of the game was, yes they
- 1:34:56Speaker 3: had they had plenty of touches and plenty of involvement
- 1:34:59Speaker 3: for Henderson, but maybe see if they can get a
- 1:35:02Speaker 3: you know, get them isolated on a linebacker on a
- 1:35:04Speaker 3: wheel route, get him downfield, maybe you can get a
- 1:35:06Speaker 3: big play out of it that way.
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: All right, it's uh, I lost track of time. Mike
- 1:35:11Speaker 1: is back from the locker room. We got to do picts.
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: It's that time of the week career room.
- 1:35:16Speaker 2: Nice mix, Matt, that was.
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: But so while I get this up on my computer, Mike,
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: why don't you tell us what's going on in the
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: locker room.
- 1:35:26Speaker 2: Yeah it was just a quick obviously, but her from
- 1:35:28Speaker 2: Robert Spallane, Matt Collins and Will Campbell and uh just say,
- 1:35:33Speaker 2: Will Campbell very serious And I just I liked his
- 1:35:35Speaker 2: vibe today. It seemed like he's uh just locked in
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: and love it.
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: I love him. He's quickly becoming my favorite player.
- 1:35:43Speaker 2: Just short answers, and you know, I just like I
- 1:35:46Speaker 2: liked his I can't have a favorite.
- 1:35:48Speaker 3: Player, No, I just think it's I think you're you're cute.
- 1:35:52Speaker 2: Roberts play is funny. I think they asked him. They're
- 1:35:55Speaker 2: like some of the guys talking about going in the
- 1:35:56Speaker 2: sauna a little bit to get ready for the heat.
- 1:35:57Speaker 2: And he's like, I always go on the sauna.
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: Know he's I love it.
- 1:36:01Speaker 3: I do love his voice.
- 1:36:03Speaker 6: I don't know if you guys caught him. He was
- 1:36:05Speaker 6: on Edelman's podcast with Matt Light and it was.
- 1:36:07Speaker 4: Still what I've seen there, you know, interesting interested in me.
- 1:36:12Speaker 4: I figured to help me prepare and get to know
- 1:36:14Speaker 4: our room.
- 1:36:16Speaker 10: But you know what a.
- 1:36:19Speaker 3: Good following do your job.
- 1:36:21Speaker 6: You inspired me with that quick comment you had about hey,
- 1:36:25Speaker 6: I picked you guys doing in the super Bowl.
- 1:36:27Speaker 4: Like that's a comment you make Like I would.
- 1:36:29Speaker 6: Have walked away from that interaction and been like I
- 1:36:32Speaker 6: should have said this.
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: That would have been an awesome George.
- 1:36:37Speaker 3: Right away said sometimes you get him wrong. You're the
- 1:36:40Speaker 3: last one I got exactly like that super Bowl last year.
- 1:36:43Speaker 3: I didn't hear you say to that.
- 1:36:44Speaker 4: You know that's Mike drop Well the jerks.
- 1:36:50Speaker 2: You all right, yeah, yeah, that's pretty much. I mean
- 1:36:53Speaker 2: Mac Collins talked a little bitt and he played for Miami.
- 1:36:55Speaker 2: So I actually asked him a question, just you were
- 1:36:56Speaker 2: in this Miami offense a little bit. I know it's
- 1:36:58Speaker 2: changed with mc collins, some principles with TUA, and I
- 1:37:02Speaker 2: had a pretty good answer just about how you detailed
- 1:37:05Speaker 2: it is and timing and those kind of things. So yeah,
- 1:37:08Speaker 2: good day. Saw Carl l Andry briefly walk through and
- 1:37:11Speaker 2: then disappeared, but didn't really look like it a limp
- 1:37:14Speaker 2: or wrap or anything like that. So yeah, I'm not
- 1:37:17Speaker 2: sure we'll see if he if he goes out there.
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: Practice all right, So we're gonna have to buzz through
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: this because I started late. No buys this week, so
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: it's a full slate. We'll start tonight eight fifteen on Prime.
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: Last Face. I'm getting ahead of myself.
- 1:37:31Speaker 3: Yeah, we got to give the flowers to Alex.
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: Oh, yes, she knows. I didn't know.
- 1:37:41Speaker 4: I knew I did well.
- 1:37:43Speaker 3: Hair flip fourteen and two. Wow for Alex, that's no
- 1:37:48Speaker 3: messing around. Freddy as always with a feel for the weak. Yeah,
- 1:37:52Speaker 3: thirteen and three, My good job, twelve and four, and
- 1:37:57Speaker 3: then then the stiffs chime in. Evan nine and seven,
- 1:38:01Speaker 3: Paul eight and eight. Oh boy, I'm just pathetic. Yeah,
- 1:38:05Speaker 3: oh no, that's that that's that's horrific. I mean eight
- 1:38:09Speaker 3: and eight. Just picking winners was horrific with the spread.
- 1:38:14Speaker 3: Alex nine and seven, the only one above the Mendos,
- 1:38:20Speaker 3: Mike and Fred eight and eight, Paul and Evans six
- 1:38:24Speaker 3: and ten. That's what happens when you come out of
- 1:38:26Speaker 3: the gate with a whole bunch of upsets. That almost happened,
- 1:38:30Speaker 3: almost get.
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: I had some Chargers beating the chiefs. Yeah, that's an
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: upset right out of the gate. Okay, right out of
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: the gate.
- 1:38:39Speaker 3: A good job, all right.
- 1:38:41Speaker 1: I want my I want my flowers.
- 1:38:43Speaker 4: To shout out Justin's hot girlfriends.
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: All right tonight eight point fifteen Prime Video. The one
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: and OH Commanders are at the one and O Packers.
- 1:38:55Speaker 3: Green Bay by three and a half.
- 1:38:58Speaker 2: By three and a half. Yeah, good in Green Bay.
- 1:39:02Speaker 2: And I just wonder if they can keep it going
- 1:39:03Speaker 2: here on a short week. I like them at home,
- 1:39:07Speaker 2: but I'm gonna take the hook for Washington. I think
- 1:39:11Speaker 2: it's a close game.
- 1:39:13Speaker 4: I agree with you. I was pretty impressed with Green Bay.
- 1:39:17Speaker 4: I'll do the same thing.
- 1:39:19Speaker 3: Oh, Green Bay, and you're taking the points Washington. Uh,
- 1:39:24Speaker 3: let's see. I will take Green Bay to win, and
- 1:39:27Speaker 3: I guess I'm gonna stay on that train Green Bay.
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: I'll take the hook Green Bay both ways.
- 1:39:32Speaker 3: People not a lock, but you know, yeah, all right,
- 1:39:37Speaker 3: I'm just gonna pick with Alex Picks.
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: We move over to Sunday one o'clock on CBS. The
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: oh to one Browns are at the oh to one
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: Ravens Baltimore by eleven and a Hey, that's a lot
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: of points.
- 1:39:50Speaker 2: I mean, you know, Baltimore, god of, they're coming out
- 1:39:53Speaker 2: to prove something, right, but it's a division game. That's
- 1:39:55Speaker 2: a lot of points for a division game. And we
- 1:39:58Speaker 2: saw Cleveland play close last week with the as I'm
- 1:40:00Speaker 2: gonna do the same thing I did. I'm gonna take Baltimore,
- 1:40:02Speaker 2: but I'm gonna say it's a little closer than that points.
- 1:40:04Speaker 6: I'm gonna do the same thing as at eleven and
- 1:40:06Speaker 6: a half falls always too big of a spread.
- 1:40:09Speaker 3: Yeah again, I'm gonna stay stay with that line of thought.
- 1:40:13Speaker 3: Too many points, and I don't think cleve. Cleveland's defense
- 1:40:16Speaker 3: is pretty good. I don't think Cleveland's a train wreck
- 1:40:18Speaker 3: like everybody thinks.
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: But we love Joe.
- 1:40:21Speaker 3: I do love Joe Flacco. It's kind of root for
- 1:40:25Speaker 3: Oh sure, yeah, I liked him when when everybody else
- 1:40:28Speaker 3: was making fun of him Championship correct, I was like, yes.
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: Ravens win, but give me those points, give me those points.
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: Brown's cover one o'clock, CBS the the one, and oh
- 1:40:45Speaker 1: Jaguars are at the one and.
- 1:40:46Speaker 3: O Bengals, Uh Cincinnati by three and a hey, I
- 1:40:51Speaker 3: thought it was interesting, Liam Cohen, like going through shot.
- 1:40:54Speaker 2: I shot all the throws that Trevor Lawrence could have
- 1:40:56Speaker 2: hit Brian Thomas on. I'm gonna go Cincinnati. I will
- 1:41:00Speaker 2: lay the points.
- 1:41:05Speaker 4: This is one of the tougher ones for me. But
- 1:41:07Speaker 4: m hm, no, Burr, I know Jody be my guy.
- 1:41:11Speaker 4: Cincinnati Cincinnati.
- 1:41:13Speaker 3: So this is the first one I'm gonna leave the train.
- 1:41:17Speaker 3: I'm gonna take Cincinnati to win, but I'm gonna be
- 1:41:19Speaker 3: uh with that hook again with Jacksonville. I agree with
- 1:41:23Speaker 3: William Cohen. I think uh Trevor Lawrence did not play
- 1:41:26Speaker 3: his best game in that one, and I don't think
- 1:41:29Speaker 3: Cincinnati's defense is as good as it looked in Week one.
- 1:41:32Speaker 3: So I'll take the Jags to keep it close.
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: I'm gonna take the Jags to win this outright, folks.
- 1:41:37Speaker 3: I think that could happen. That's a good upset.
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: I'm gonna Trevor Lawrence, my candidate more careful after my
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: ridiculous opening candidate for Offensive Player of the Year. Watch
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: Fox one o'clock ohen one Giants at the oh to one, Cowboys.
- 1:41:58Speaker 3: Dallas by four and a half.
- 1:42:00Speaker 2: I haven't seen the Giants made a quarterback switch. I
- 1:42:03Speaker 2: know that was maybe pending, but they did not.
- 1:42:06Speaker 3: Matter of fact, he said definitively. No Monday, No, we did.
- 1:42:08Speaker 2: Okay, Sorry, I'm.
- 1:42:09Speaker 3: Gonna alice he's changed.
- 1:42:11Speaker 2: That's why I don't think so.
- 1:42:11Speaker 3: I haven't seen anything since Monday.
- 1:42:14Speaker 2: I'm gonna stick with Dallas. That is a little bit
- 1:42:17Speaker 2: more points than i'd like to lay, but I'll lay
- 1:42:18Speaker 2: off for a four and a half.
- 1:42:20Speaker 3: Four and a half.
- 1:42:20Speaker 4: Yeah, I'll lay the four and a half Cowboys, Cowboys.
- 1:42:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm gonna stick with the same.
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:42:27Speaker 3: I guess every game so far. I'll take Dallas to win,
- 1:42:30Speaker 3: but I will take the four and a half with
- 1:42:31Speaker 3: the Giants.
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: Paul is correct. Cowboys win, but they do not cover.
- 1:42:36Speaker 3: This is how you end up six and ten. Take
- 1:42:39Speaker 3: upset after upset after upset, and they're all going to
- 1:42:42Speaker 3: be this close to happening, and none of them is
- 1:42:44Speaker 3: going to happen.
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: Uh one o'clock on Fox. The ohen one Bears are
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: at the oh and one.
- 1:42:49Speaker 3: Lions Destois by six.
- 1:42:52Speaker 2: Oh Jesus, this is a good, good, interesting game. I'm
- 1:42:56Speaker 2: gonna take Detroit to win at home, but I'm gonna
- 1:42:58Speaker 2: give Ben Johnson those points. I think he'll have a
- 1:43:01Speaker 2: little something as guys will want to play for him.
- 1:43:03Speaker 2: I don't think they have quite enough, but I think
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: they keep it close.
- 1:43:07Speaker 6: Yeah, the Troy is a little concerning with all the
- 1:43:11Speaker 6: brain power they lost, which I didn't really factor in
- 1:43:14Speaker 6: in week.
- 1:43:15Speaker 2: One, yet you still won.
- 1:43:17Speaker 4: I don't think that I didn't. That was a rare game.
- 1:43:20Speaker 1: I'm not wrong.
- 1:43:23Speaker 4: That do sound so Braddy. But I will take Detroit,
- 1:43:27Speaker 4: and I will take Detroit and I will take Chicago
- 1:43:34Speaker 4: to cover.
- 1:43:36Speaker 3: I'm going to do the same thing. I liked a
- 1:43:38Speaker 3: lot of what I saw from Chicago and in the
- 1:43:41Speaker 3: first half. I just think they need to figure out
- 1:43:43Speaker 3: how to I think Ben Johnson's number one task is
- 1:43:46Speaker 3: to figure out how to make Caleb Williams sort of
- 1:43:50Speaker 3: understand the need to stay with it, you know, don't
- 1:43:55Speaker 3: drift in and out you know when things go bad.
- 1:43:57Speaker 3: That's the number one problem. Has got nothing to do
- 1:43:59Speaker 3: with a bill. What he's got nothing to do with
- 1:44:01Speaker 3: his you know, aptitude for offense. It's his attitude and
- 1:44:05Speaker 3: that's the number one thing that Ben Johnson has to do.
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: Okay, I'm gonna take Lions both ways. We're gonna see
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: a resurgence of that defense of for the Lions because
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: remember they were decimated by injuries last year. That's kind
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: of what kept them back and I think they're going
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: to be playing with a chip on their shoulder that defense.
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: So they're gonna give Caleb Williams and the Bears a
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: tough time Tomorrow Sunday, one o'clock on Fox, the one
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: to oh forty nine ers? Do we know who the
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: quarterback is? Jack Jones against the Saints oh and one?
- 1:44:39Speaker 3: Oh I'm sorry, Niners by three.
- 1:44:43Speaker 2: By three on the roads.
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: This is a pick them.
- 1:44:46Speaker 2: Oh boy, Mac, we'll be uh. I'm gonna take New
- 1:44:50Speaker 2: Orleans for the upset and I'll take them at home
- 1:44:53Speaker 2: plus three? Please, sorry, Mac, you.
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: Think you brought party with out quarterbacking? It would be
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: more than three?
- 1:45:00Speaker 6: Well, yes, well, I don't know when our lines came
- 1:45:03Speaker 6: out on our little sheet here.
- 1:45:05Speaker 4: But it was San Francisco minus six and a half.
- 1:45:07Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that was before Mac Jones and his quarterbackers
- 1:45:10Speaker 2: worth three and a half.
- 1:45:12Speaker 4: Definitely, that's a definite.
- 1:45:13Speaker 3: That's what Evans idol.
- 1:45:16Speaker 2: Or maybe it isn't this fourteen and two. Maybe you
- 1:45:18Speaker 2: should do some research.
- 1:45:20Speaker 3: Maybe no research. He be working on the fives.
- 1:45:24Speaker 14: He's just five.
- 1:45:26Speaker 3: Instagram.
- 1:45:30Speaker 4: Gotta hurry San Francisco, Francis.
- 1:45:33Speaker 3: So I thought for sure that I would be the
- 1:45:35Speaker 3: snarky one. Yeah, I cannot take a team that Mac
- 1:45:38Speaker 3: Jones quarterbacks. So I'll take the loss if it happens,
- 1:45:40Speaker 3: but I'll take the Saints to win out right, Like Mike, I.
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: Just think the Saints have still a lot of wor
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: team in football. Christian, I'm not the Saints. I mean
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: the forty nine ers have a lot of talent. Christian
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: McCaffrey's healthy, right, Okay, Yeah, he played well in the
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: first Yeah, so I'm gonna go with the forty nine
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: ers to overcome any deficiencies that they might have. One
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: o'clock on CBS, the one and zero Bills are at
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: the zero.
- 1:46:05Speaker 3: To one Jets Buffalo by six and a half.
- 1:46:11Speaker 2: Yeah, that sounds that sounds about right to me. I'm
- 1:46:13Speaker 2: gonna take Buffalo for sure. And uh yeah, I'm gonna
- 1:46:16Speaker 2: stout to la the points six and a half Bill's Bills.
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: Yeah, this is tough. Jets played well last week or
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: they were competitive.
- 1:46:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm definitely taking the points. I'll take Buffalo to
- 1:46:31Speaker 3: win the game. I do think the Jets could win
- 1:46:33Speaker 3: this game outright. I think Buffalo has a hard time
- 1:46:35Speaker 3: in New York. Sometimes very emotional win on a Sunday
- 1:46:38Speaker 3: night that probably didn't even start thinking about the Jets
- 1:46:41Speaker 3: until like Wednesday. But I'll take Buffalo to win.
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: Yeah, Bills fans, watch your fingers. That windows coming down fast.
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: But it wasn't the Jets. I'd picked an outright loss
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: for the Bills. But they don't lose. They win, but
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: they do not cover Fox one o'clock. The Owen one
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: Seahawks are at the one and oh Steelers Pittsburgh by three.
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: Four touchdowns for Aaron Rodgers last week.
- 1:47:09Speaker 3: Yeah, looks like he'd like dk out all that good
- 1:47:12Speaker 3: in the game. And I started watching some of those
- 1:47:15Speaker 3: highlights and I'm listening to some of the analysis. He
- 1:47:18Speaker 3: had four touchdowns but kind of didn't move well in
- 1:47:21Speaker 3: the pocket even he said that. Imagine how bad he
- 1:47:23Speaker 3: must have been for him to admit it.
- 1:47:24Speaker 2: Yeah, so rematch the Super Bowl forty. I believe I'm
- 1:47:29Speaker 2: gonna take Yeah, I'm gonna take Pittsburg. I'm gonna take Pittsburgh.
- 1:47:34Speaker 2: I'll take care Rodgers all oy the points.
- 1:47:36Speaker 4: Yeah, Pittsburghitsburgh.
- 1:47:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I think uh, I think Pittsburgh gets this one
- 1:47:44Speaker 3: done too. Yeah, I'll take Pittsburgh both ways.
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: Yeah. I have about as much reason to make this
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: call as they do with the Patriots. But I'm gonna
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: have the Seahawks winning this outright. So there you go.
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: One o'clock CBS, The one and oh Rams are at
- 1:47:59Speaker 1: the oh to one Titans the.
- 1:48:02Speaker 2: Lar by five and a half, Lar by five and
- 1:48:06Speaker 2: a half. Yeah, things were kind of messy down there
- 1:48:09Speaker 2: in Tennessee. I just I don't know about Matthew Stafford.
- 1:48:12Speaker 2: I'm going to take the Rams, but I'm gonna take
- 1:48:15Speaker 2: a plucky Tennessee team for the point. So to keep close.
- 1:48:20Speaker 3: The Lar in Tennessee five and a half, five and.
- 1:48:23Speaker 4: Ahead half all right, retweet.
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: That means the same thing.
- 1:48:28Speaker 3: I get it, I get it. I'm going to take
- 1:48:33Speaker 3: them sorry, I'm gonna take the Rams both ways. I
- 1:48:37Speaker 3: do think Tennessee showed something. I think they weren't. They're
- 1:48:41Speaker 3: not They're not ready to win that game despite all
- 1:48:44Speaker 3: the help that they they got from Denver. But a
- 1:48:47Speaker 3: lot of drops for the Titans in that game. Cam
- 1:48:49Speaker 3: Wood actually played reasonably well. The stats will tell you
- 1:48:52Speaker 3: he was miserable, but he played pretty well.
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: I saw. Yeah, that spread is simply to bring in
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: Titans money. So I'm going to have the Rams winning
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: but not covering. You're going to stand that pot.
- 1:49:05Speaker 3: So it worked. Yeah, yeah, the spread enticed you into
- 1:49:08Speaker 3: doing it.
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: That's right.
- 1:49:09Speaker 3: Okay, that's right.
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: Now we're going to skip over the Patriots at one
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: o'clock and we're gonna move to four oh five. The
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: oh to one Panthers are at the one and oh Cardinals.
- 1:49:20Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 1:49:20Speaker 3: Really disappointing opener for Carolina. Arizona by six and a half. Yeah,
- 1:49:26Speaker 3: I like that.
- 1:49:27Speaker 2: On the road, I'm gonna take Arizona. I'm gonna lay
- 1:49:28Speaker 2: those points.
- 1:49:31Speaker 4: Arizona Arizona.
- 1:49:34Speaker 3: So I am going to take Arizona to win, but
- 1:49:36Speaker 3: I will take the points.
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:49:38Speaker 3: With Carolina, I think they're a little bit better than
- 1:49:40Speaker 3: they showed. It was one of those weak ones. They
- 1:49:42Speaker 3: just didn't have it, you know, weird weather delay in
- 1:49:45Speaker 3: the middle of the game. Bryce Young was terrible a
- 1:49:47Speaker 3: couple hours, wasn't it. So I'll take I'll take the points.
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: Yeah, me too, I'm gonna take the points as well.
- 1:49:52Speaker 1: Cardinals win at home four oh five cbs. The one
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: in o Broncos in a rare road game are at
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: the Colts one and oh oh.
- 1:50:01Speaker 3: Sorry Denver by one and a half.
- 1:50:03Speaker 2: When you're staid and study like the Broncos, we're like, well,
- 1:50:05Speaker 2: we're never gonna be able to see him because they
- 1:50:06Speaker 2: only playing We're not to go to Denver togainn.
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: Uh.
- 1:50:12Speaker 2: It's a good matchup though. I think these are two
- 1:50:14Speaker 2: you know, plucky teams right now, especially you know Bonnicks,
- 1:50:17Speaker 2: and I just I can't buy quite into Daniel Jones.
- 1:50:20Speaker 2: So I'm gonna go with Denver mostly on their defense,
- 1:50:23Speaker 2: and I'll lay those with two and a halfs one
- 1:50:25Speaker 2: half lay the one and a half.
- 1:50:27Speaker 4: Yeah, I feel the same way as Deuce. I gotta
- 1:50:31Speaker 4: see more of Daniel Jones with Indy.
- 1:50:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm with I'm with you, guys. A big believer
- 1:50:37Speaker 3: in the Broncos defense. I think it'll be a little
- 1:50:39Speaker 3: bit tougher, but I do think Indy's better and I
- 1:50:41Speaker 3: think Daniel Jones might might be okay there. I agree
- 1:50:44Speaker 3: with Evans talk about Shane Steichen and they could be
- 1:50:48Speaker 3: a good fit. But I'll take Denver defense is too good.
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: I'm tempted to take the Colts, but I will take
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: Denver in the game. But I have a feeling about
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: this and I'm going to be really wrong. This is
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: the only one. This could be my one loss for
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: the week, four for one for us for twenty five Fox,
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: we want to know Eagles are at the zero to one.
- 1:51:09Speaker 3: Chiefs Philly by one and a half.
- 1:51:11Speaker 2: Why is this game? Why isn't this the Sunday night game?
- 1:51:14Speaker 2: This is a Super Bowl rematching? Wait to hear the
- 1:51:16Speaker 2: Sunday I know I can't wait, uh man. I I'm
- 1:51:21Speaker 2: gonna go with Philly on the road and this one.
- 1:51:23Speaker 2: I I haven't given up on the Chiefs. I still
- 1:51:25Speaker 2: think they're really dangerous and they just got to get healthy.
- 1:51:28Speaker 2: But right now, early this season, they ain't quite ready
- 1:51:30Speaker 2: to do it. I got Philly too much talent.
- 1:51:32Speaker 4: Philly, Philly.
- 1:51:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll take Kansas City at home. I like the
- 1:51:37Speaker 3: Chiefs when no one thinks they're gonna win.
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: Yeah, but it's too early for that, Paul, No.
- 1:51:42Speaker 3: I just but I mean it's been I know what
- 1:51:44Speaker 3: you're saying. I mean everyone this year they don't win.
- 1:51:46Speaker 3: I know they only lost. They lost their second game
- 1:51:49Speaker 3: in Week eighteen. Last year, they're gonna have two losses
- 1:51:51Speaker 3: after two weeks. I like Kansas City when no one
- 1:51:54Speaker 3: thinks they're gonna win.
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: I'm going to take the Eagles. I think Hurts look
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: now great. I only saw the first half, but I
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: think Hurtz looks like even better.
- 1:52:04Speaker 3: I think, for some reason, I think Hurts is really
- 1:52:06Speaker 3: good commersonally, I think.
- 1:52:08Speaker 1: I think he's so. I think the Eagles beat the
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: Chiefs in Kansas City. All right, Now we go to
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: the Sunday night game eight twenty. Uh. This is a
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: dynamite matchup the zero to one Falcons at the one
- 1:52:23Speaker 1: and oh Vikings this week. Yeah.
- 1:52:25Speaker 3: The only thing that could have been worse is if
- 1:52:27Speaker 3: they could have found a division game. So Minnesota by
- 1:52:31Speaker 3: three and a half.
- 1:52:32Speaker 2: The battle of the mid round quarterbacks from last year
- 1:52:34Speaker 2: mid first rounders, right, yeah, this is another I think
- 1:52:38Speaker 2: these teams are pretty evenly matched with some good talent
- 1:52:40Speaker 2: on both teams. I'm gonna go with J. J. McCarthy
- 1:52:44Speaker 2: and the Minnesota Vikings at home, and I'm gonna you
- 1:52:48Speaker 2: know what, what do you say the show was? I'm
- 1:52:49Speaker 2: sorry three and a half to listen three and I'm
- 1:52:51Speaker 2: gonna take the hook for Atlanta. I think it's a
- 1:52:53Speaker 2: it's a really tight one.
- 1:52:55Speaker 4: I'm gonna take Minnesota both ways. Looking at how much
- 1:53:02Speaker 4: time you have to make this decision.
- 1:53:04Speaker 2: Yeah, gotta hurry.
- 1:53:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm going to take Minnesota because I'm so far behind.
- 1:53:09Speaker 3: They can't afford to go so against the culture, but
- 1:53:11Speaker 3: I'll take it. I'll take Atlanta. I'm embarrassed.
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: He's desperate and feel I've lost like every year.
- 1:53:21Speaker 3: I'm like the Patriots and the Dolphins. I'm desperate in
- 1:53:23Speaker 3: week two, by the way, I'm embarrassed.
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: Yeah, Vikings win. I'm tempted to go both ways, but
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: I'll take the points.
- 1:53:32Speaker 3: Here Minnesota and Atlanta.
- 1:53:34Speaker 6: You go.
- 1:53:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm with you.
- 1:53:36Speaker 1: Yeah, where are you? They gonna clean up this week
- 1:53:39Speaker 1: or ride or die for all behind Monday Monday Night.
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: These stupid double headers, Oh, I love them. Not when
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: the second one starts at ten at night.
- 1:53:49Speaker 3: I don't watch that one.
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: I know seven.
- 1:53:52Speaker 3: Now I can watch the seven o'clock I did not
- 1:53:53Speaker 3: have to go to all right.
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: I'd rather have both of them start at the same
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: time and let me go back and forth.
- 1:53:59Speaker 3: I be interested, I'd be interested in what you're selling.
- 1:54:03Speaker 1: But one of them is a West Coast game. But anyway,
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: so at seven o'clock, the seven o'clock game is on ESPN,
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: ABC and ESPN Deportes. It's the one o'clock clock, the
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: one and oh Buccaneers led by Baker. They're at the
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: Texans that are zero and.
- 1:54:19Speaker 3: One, Houston by two and a half.
- 1:54:23Speaker 2: I didn't get a good beat on what Houston's result
- 1:54:25Speaker 2: was this last week. I don't know.
- 1:54:27Speaker 3: They lost fourteen to nine.
- 1:54:28Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, right, right, right, And so in one
- 1:54:33Speaker 2: this is another tough one. Feel like to kind of
- 1:54:34Speaker 2: evenly match teams with similar questions. I'll go with the
- 1:54:38Speaker 2: team with the better quarterback. I believe in C. J. Stroud,
- 1:54:42Speaker 2: and I'll lay the two and a half points.
- 1:54:44Speaker 3: Fighting words for Freddy.
- 1:54:46Speaker 4: I'm going to take the upset here.
- 1:54:51Speaker 3: I am going to take Houston both ways. I think
- 1:54:54Speaker 3: that defense will make life difficult on the Bucks.
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: I have no idea. I'm going to just go with
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: Baker as the league's better with him in it. Ten
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: o'clock at night here on the East Coast ESPN. ESPN
- 1:55:10Speaker 1: deportes that one to no Chargers are against the one
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: to oh Raiders.
- 1:55:17Speaker 3: H Charges by three. Did I miss the Universo for
- 1:55:22Speaker 3: the Sunday now there.
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: Was no Universe? Did I not say univers I might have.
- 1:55:27Speaker 1: I might have not said what games the on? I
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: just I always like the Universe, NBC and univers H.
- 1:55:32Speaker 2: I got a lot of respect for how the Raiders
- 1:55:34Speaker 2: played last week and how they knocked the Patriots off.
- 1:55:36Speaker 2: But I thought Justin Herbert just looked phenomenal, and I
- 1:55:39Speaker 2: think that team is peaking. So I'm gonna take the
- 1:55:40Speaker 2: Chargers and I'll lay the point the three points.
- 1:55:44Speaker 3: Chargers Chargers, Yeah, I I would sort of go opposite
- 1:55:49Speaker 3: a deuce. I I like the Charges both ways.
- 1:55:51Speaker 12: Uh.
- 1:55:52Speaker 3: If I thought the Vegas came in here and did
- 1:55:55Speaker 3: something special, I'd be like, oh, maybe we underestimated them.
- 1:55:59Speaker 3: I kind of think they were what we thought they were.
- 1:56:01Speaker 3: The Patriots weren't what I thought they were, and that's
- 1:56:05Speaker 3: why they lost but I.
- 1:56:06Speaker 1: Think might have played a little better than that.
- 1:56:08Speaker 3: You know, it definitely played better than I thought, but
- 1:56:10Speaker 3: really nothing else. I mean a lot of penalties of mistakes. Ye.
- 1:56:16Speaker 1: At one point I said, Raiders being Raiders.
- 1:56:18Speaker 3: Yeah, hitting guys out of bounds.
- 1:56:20Speaker 2: The Raiders employees didn't care for that.
- 1:56:22Speaker 3: Chargers, I love just the way justin.
- 1:56:26Speaker 1: I'm going with Charges both ways too, and that Justin
- 1:56:29Speaker 1: he did play really well. Right now, we go back
- 1:56:35Speaker 1: to Sunday at one, Uh, the Patriots are at the
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: and one Dolphins.
- 1:56:42Speaker 3: Uh, the Dolphins by one and a half, so the
- 1:56:46Speaker 3: really underdogs.
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: Yes, yep, that is correct.
- 1:56:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna take New England. It's just it's got
- 1:56:55Speaker 2: to be a little magic and there's got to be
- 1:56:56Speaker 2: a little something maybe unexpected from them, surprising shutting down
- 1:57:00Speaker 2: to it would be that. But just a you know,
- 1:57:03Speaker 2: a solid day from Drake, may get some ramondre Stevenson yards,
- 1:57:07Speaker 2: get Travon in space, and just Drake take the profit
- 1:57:12Speaker 2: and maybe make a couple throws down the end. I
- 1:57:15Speaker 2: like New England to pull it out, have a big game.
- 1:57:17Speaker 2: I'm gonna say twenty two twenty one I described it
- 1:57:20Speaker 2: too with Paul. They go for two. At the end,
- 1:57:21Speaker 2: they come back, they score field goal to tie it,
- 1:57:24Speaker 2: to to win, they go for two. You heard it
- 1:57:26Speaker 2: here for it first, folks.
- 1:57:28Speaker 1: He gave me.
- 1:57:29Speaker 3: He gave me a little excitement.
- 1:57:31Speaker 4: New England twenty seven, Miami twenty one.
- 1:57:36Speaker 3: Okay, can't do it. I just had too many games
- 1:57:45Speaker 3: down there that were automatic Patriot wins. It's not the
- 1:57:48Speaker 3: first time this has happened. I gotta think Miami has
- 1:57:52Speaker 3: at least some semblance of pride, and they show up
- 1:57:56Speaker 3: to play, and if they do, I think they win
- 1:57:58Speaker 3: twenty seven to sixteen.
- 1:57:59Speaker 1: What if the Patriot show up to win, to play,
- 1:58:01Speaker 1: I think.
- 1:58:02Speaker 3: The Patriots will show up to play.
- 1:58:03Speaker 1: I don't.
- 1:58:03Speaker 3: I think they showed up to play Sunday. Yeah. I
- 1:58:05Speaker 3: wouldn't question the Patriots efforts Sunday against the Raiders at all.
- 1:58:08Speaker 1: So I think if both teams show up up to play,
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: I think the Patriots are the better team.
- 1:58:12Speaker 3: Okay, I don't. Okay, that's why I did Miami, But
- 1:58:15Speaker 3: I don't think. I think there's a good chance Miami
- 1:58:17Speaker 3: doesn't show up to play. Okay, And you'll be right, Yeah,
- 1:58:21Speaker 3: what's your score?
- 1:58:23Speaker 1: Patriots win? As I said on Tuesday, thirty one seventeen,
- 1:58:29Speaker 1: they break the thirty point snide you.
- 1:58:32Speaker 3: If the Patriots win, you will be right. There's no
- 1:58:35Speaker 3: way it's going to be a close game. And the
- 1:58:36Speaker 3: Patriots with the Patriots are either gonna blow them out
- 1:58:39Speaker 3: or Miami is gonna blow And that's.
- 1:58:40Speaker 1: What I think what's gonna happen. They're gonna they're gonna
- 1:58:43Speaker 1: start fast, and they're gonna never look.
- 1:58:45Speaker 2: Back with you imagine.
- 1:58:47Speaker 3: I think if the Patriots win, that's the formula.
