Transcript
- 0:02Speaker 1: It's all so exciting.
- 0:04Speaker 2: It is indeed. The tension is building. Good morning, Barra. Morning, guys.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Good morning, Hayden. Good morning.
- 0:30Speaker 1: Wow.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Are you excited, Lisa? I'm very excited. I reckon Lisa's excited.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Lisa's very excited.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Well, at least you've got the purple skimmy on this one.
- 0:37Speaker 3: I'm very excited. I'm making nachos with purple corn chips
- 0:41Speaker 3: for tomorrow night.
- 0:43Speaker 1: There's purple beer at Optus Stadium as well.
- 0:45Speaker 3: There's purple beer.
- 0:46Speaker 1: It's amazing.
- 0:46Speaker 2: It's all on.
- 0:47Speaker 1: The vibe is up at training, isn't it?
- 0:49Speaker 2: You can sense it.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Have you had the chat about outside noise and all
- 0:54Speaker 1: that sort of stuff? Have you sat down and what's
- 0:56Speaker 1: been the process so far?
- 0:58Speaker 2: Yeah, we have. Yeah, we had a good sort of
- 1:01Speaker 2: team meeting. When was that? On Saturday last week.
- 1:04Speaker 4: And we just kind of like recapped the year and
- 1:06Speaker 4: went through sort of what's worked well for us and
- 1:08Speaker 4: how we got to this position and I suppose the process.
- 1:12Speaker 4: And then we looked at what are the potential distractions
- 1:14Speaker 4: that can take us away from what's got us to
- 1:16Speaker 4: this position. And yeah, we had a really good chat about,
- 1:20Speaker 4: because for some players, it's their first final series. And
- 1:23Speaker 4: even for me, it's my first final series, you know,
- 1:26Speaker 4: finishing on top of the ladder where, The expectations are different.
- 1:28Speaker 2: The pressure is different.
- 1:30Speaker 4: Um, but the reality is the games are still the
- 1:32Speaker 4: same and, uh, we still got to execute our game
- 1:34Speaker 4: plan and, and do what we've done all year, which
- 1:37Speaker 4: has got us this position. So, um, yeah, it was
- 1:39Speaker 4: a really, really good meeting and walked away from it feeling, um, Calm, confident, ready.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:45Speaker 1: There's been a lot of talk about wharfing time, hasn't there?
- 1:48Speaker 1: In fact, the Hawks, I know we asked the questions
- 1:50Speaker 1: of media, but I reckon every player has answered about
- 1:53Speaker 1: five questions about wharfing time. So they're kind of being
- 1:56Speaker 1: prepared for that, I suppose. Do you think it'll still
- 1:59Speaker 1: have as big an effect? Because I remember the effect
- 2:01Speaker 1: it had on you because you nearly jumped out of
- 2:03Speaker 1: your skin, went for that huge screamer, took a bloke out,
- 2:06Speaker 1: knocked it out. Amos got it, kicked the winning goal.
- 2:10Speaker 1: So you really felt it, didn't you?
- 2:11Speaker 4: Yeah, it certainly had an effect on me. And I'd
- 2:14Speaker 4: imagine if it did happen this weekend, it would definitely
- 2:17Speaker 4: have a similar effect on everyone on the ground.
- 2:20Speaker 2: But who knows? Who knows what's going to happen? Hopefully
- 2:22Speaker 2: it's not required, but we will see.
- 2:25Speaker 4: But yeah, I'm sure the fans and everyone involved in
- 2:27Speaker 4: the footy world wouldn't mind seeing it.
- 2:29Speaker 2: It'll be pretty exciting.
- 2:31Speaker 3: It's because it's been used sparingly that makes it, you know.
- 2:33Speaker 5: So effective.
- 2:34Speaker 2: It's round nine.
- 2:35Speaker 5: The unknown.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:36Speaker 5: It's the unknown.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Will it come out? Yeah. Who's going to hit the
- 2:40Speaker 2: red button? Purple button.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Hey, the purple button. Hey, speaking of Amos, he's one
- 2:44Speaker 3: of the big names that are coming back. Heath Chapman, Murphy, Reid.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Switter.
- 2:49Speaker 5: Switter.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Back for, you know, one of the last times.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:53Speaker 3: That's all very good news.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Very good news, yeah. It is great.
- 2:58Speaker 4: Everyone's been training really well. We've had full numbers on
- 3:01Speaker 4: the track, really, and training's been at a high standard. So, yeah,
- 3:05Speaker 4: it's great to have some of those experienced players come
- 3:07Speaker 4: back into the team to play a big game.
- 3:10Speaker 2: So we're happy to have them back.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Now, Switter wasn't there yesterday morning, was he, at training?
- 3:15Speaker 1: So what's the go with the Dockers and doing the maths?
- 3:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:19Speaker 1: Is it something to do with his babies on its
- 3:21Speaker 1: way and that he wasn't there? Because I know that
- 3:23Speaker 1: Geordie has got a bub coming. Coxie's had one. Wagner's
- 3:27Speaker 1: just had one. There used to be a rule you
- 3:29Speaker 1: weren't allowed to have babies until after September.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't think the boy's got the memo.
- 3:34Speaker 5: There's some things the AFL cannot control.
- 3:37Speaker 3: I don't think the baby's got the memo.
- 3:39Speaker 2: No, I don't think so.
- 3:41Speaker 4: But, no, I think he'll be fine to play, which
- 3:44Speaker 4: is good.
- 3:45Speaker 1: No, it's just a different vibe, and that's part of
- 3:47Speaker 1: the reason he's retiring. And Murphy Reid looked magnificent. Do
- 3:50Speaker 1: you know, is he wearing a box or something? He'd
- 3:52Speaker 1: have to be wearing some guard.
- 3:53Speaker 4: I think he is wearing some sort of protection. But
- 3:57Speaker 4: you're right, he was looking amazing. And he's moving really well,
- 4:01Speaker 4: so I don't think he's been affected.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Too much by it.
- 4:03Speaker 3: That's the only thing you can't get at the merch store.
- 4:05Speaker 2: A purple box. A purple box.
- 4:07Speaker 5: I was on the.
- 4:09Speaker 3: Merch website yesterday. I had to take my credit card
- 4:11Speaker 3: away because there's dog drinking bowls.
- 4:14Speaker 5: There's just everything you can get.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Ordering up everything.
- 4:17Speaker 5: Amazon and all the delivery services said, whoa, whoa, whoa,
- 4:20Speaker 5: we cannot handle this. We don't have enough trucks. Are
- 4:23Speaker 5: there any purple Buddhas? Because did you see Alex Pierce
- 4:26Speaker 5: during training?
- 4:26Speaker 1: I saw that. Just sitting in the middle of the
- 4:27Speaker 1: ground doing the Zen sort of. The Zen master. I
- 4:31Speaker 1: love that guy.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Contemplation mode.
- 4:33Speaker 1: What do you guys think when you see that?
- 4:36Speaker 4: He's an interesting guy, Moose, but the way he's leading
- 4:41Speaker 4: this year and the way he's going about it's certainly
- 4:43Speaker 4: having an effect on the playing group. And I think
- 4:45Speaker 4: one thing that has been noticeable is he's very calm
- 4:48Speaker 4: this year. He's leading with his heart, being very passionate,
- 4:52Speaker 4: and I think whatever he's doing is working for him.
- 4:55Speaker 1: The wizard is the player that they're a bit worried about.
- 4:59Speaker 1: And Gunston, of course, from the last game. And Nick Watson,
- 5:02Speaker 1: who may, and don't give too much away, but who
- 5:06Speaker 1: might get him?
- 5:07Speaker 4: Not sure, to be honest. Whatever the case is, I
- 5:10Speaker 4: think it'll be a bit of a team effort. He's
- 5:11Speaker 4: obviously a very damaging player. Gunston's probably the tricky one
- 5:15Speaker 4: because he holds so much length in the game. So,
- 5:17Speaker 4: you know, someone's going to be isolated on him and
- 5:20Speaker 4: we've got to make sure we can work together up
- 5:22Speaker 4: the field to support him and I mean, last time
- 5:25Speaker 4: we played them, we just allowed the Hawks to move
- 5:27Speaker 4: the ball too quickly.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Through the middle, yeah.
- 5:28Speaker 4: And we just helped Gunston, who was, you know, one-on-one, really. So, yeah,
- 5:32Speaker 4: those two players have been in great form this year,
- 5:34Speaker 4: and it's going to be a team effort to stop them.
- 5:36Speaker 1: They got off the plane, the Hawks, last night, and
- 5:38Speaker 1: they looked pretty happy with themselves because it's their third
- 5:41Speaker 1: trip here this year, so no dramas there. And they've
- 5:44Speaker 1: seen Wharfie time, they've trained Wharfie time, and they're bringing
- 5:47Speaker 1: their best team for the year, basically.
- 5:49Speaker 2: I don't know how that worked out.
- 5:51Speaker 4: Well, you'd want to hope so. It's a final, you
- 5:52Speaker 4: want to have your best team in there, so... No,
- 5:55Speaker 4: we're certainly, we feel like we're fielding our best team too.
- 5:58Speaker 4: So hopefully it's a great contest.
- 6:00Speaker 2: Good point.
- 6:00Speaker 5: Well, it's a sellout.
- 6:01Speaker 3: You've never lost at home this year. A win means
- 6:05Speaker 3: a home preliminary final and a week off.
- 6:07Speaker 2: And another week off. So 6-10 tomorrow night.
- 6:09Speaker 3: There's nothing more to say. We're all just keeping a
- 6:15Speaker 3: lid on it and good luck.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Thank you very much.
- 6:17Speaker 5: And leave early for the stadium because it's going to
- 6:21Speaker 5: be busy.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Oh, it's going to be a record. Record Dockers crowd.
- 6:24Speaker 2: Good luck, Hayden. Thank you. Go, grey man. We're just
- 6:27Speaker 2: on that subject.
- 6:28Speaker 5: Are Hawthorne ready for Wharfie time if it is required?
- 6:33Speaker 5: Jimmy's had a word with the Hawks and we'll get
- 6:34Speaker 5: the word next in the 8 o'clock update.
