- 0:02Speaker 1: Don't be sad it's over. Be thrilled it happens. What
- 0:07Speaker 1: a postseason. Welcome to the off season. Welcome to the
- 0:11Speaker 1: off season. But of course a.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Lot of people are mad. A lot of people are mad.
- 0:16Speaker 1: What are they mad about.
- 0:17Speaker 2: That the season's over?
- 0:18Speaker 3: There?
- 0:18Speaker 2: I've got a lot of texts like what am I
- 0:19Speaker 2: going to do without baseball?
- 0:20Speaker 3: Now?
- 0:20Speaker 2: It's like, I don't know, that's a.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Great off season. It does, though, because it extends for
- 0:30Speaker 1: the few months into spring training. Not every off season
- 0:33Speaker 1: is like that. Sometimes it gets hit hard for that
- 0:35Speaker 1: because some of the free agency drags on. I know
- 0:38Speaker 1: you love that in particular when we do it, I
- 0:41Speaker 1: love it where we'll want go intro will come to
- 0:43Speaker 1: something for somebody, But it does extend the entire off season.
- 0:47Speaker 1: The conversation. I personally like that. It's good for sports
- 0:51Speaker 1: talk shows.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Yeah, it gives us a lot to talk about every day,
- 0:55Speaker 2: except for today, where we don't really have much.
- 0:57Speaker 4: I mean we do have some.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Stuff, but not games, not free agency, not trades. I
- 1:02Speaker 2: know there was a minor trade. I mean there's not
- 1:03Speaker 2: a lot. There's not a ton today. I mean we
- 1:05Speaker 2: can talk about the game, which obviously up in Saturday
- 1:07Speaker 2: Night was incredible. The whole series was incredible. So it's
- 1:12Speaker 2: one of those things where what a series and people
- 1:14Speaker 2: didn't want it to end because it was so awesome.
- 1:16Speaker 2: It was like an incredible, incredible series.
- 1:19Speaker 1: It was. We also have a scandal to get to
- 1:21Speaker 1: later with Evan Drelik joining US free agency opening up.
- 1:24Speaker 1: We'll talk to Jim Boden about it, but I do
- 1:27Speaker 1: want to show the interest internationally in the sport in
- 1:31Speaker 1: a different way. Airplane Kendall Baker from Yahoo, posting, this
- 1:37Speaker 1: makes me so happy, man sports, and it just shows
- 1:41Speaker 1: if you're listening to the pod, a ton of TVs
- 1:45Speaker 1: on an unnamed airline, all tuned in for World Series
- 1:49Speaker 1: Game seven. Very cool and if you think about it,
- 1:52Speaker 1: we had three out of four wildcard matchups go the
- 1:56Speaker 1: distance half the was it two or three for the
- 2:01Speaker 1: DS went the distance? Two? Two out of four went
- 2:05Speaker 1: the distance plus extras for AJ so it was like
- 2:07Speaker 1: almost like a game time and six.
- 2:11Speaker 4: What was the other We have two game fives.
- 2:14Speaker 3: The Bruers, Yeah, oh that's right, the BRSE.
- 2:17Speaker 2: I forgot about the bus.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Because we had two game fives there. We had a
- 2:21Speaker 1: game seven, yeah, but then we had a Game seven
- 2:23Speaker 1: on the Alcs side, including a late comeback, and then
- 2:26Speaker 1: we had a ridiculous Game seven we're about to talk
- 2:29Speaker 1: about that just had it all. So we did do
- 2:34Speaker 1: a forty ish minute postgame show with Kratz, Trevor May,
- 2:38Speaker 1: and myself on Saturday night. About seventy something thousand views
- 2:43Speaker 1: on it, So thanks to everyone that checked it out,
- 2:45Speaker 1: and also still good analysis on there from the guys
- 2:48Speaker 1: if you want to see it. But AJ is going
- 2:50Speaker 1: to take center stage here, so let's charge.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Let's charge.
- 2:57Speaker 1: What do you have for us? Aja? When you were
- 2:59Speaker 1: watching seven.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Oh man, where do we start? Uh?
- 3:03Speaker 2: I mean, the pitching moves were incredible. It was fascinaing
- 3:06Speaker 2: to see how fur show Hey would go. Then Max
- 3:08Speaker 2: coming out when he came out, uh, I mean, it
- 3:11Speaker 2: looked like it was all set up for the Blue
- 3:13Speaker 2: Jays to win this thing. He had a two run
- 3:14Speaker 2: lead in the eighth inning and then the home runs
- 3:16Speaker 2: came the Max Muncie and then the and then the
- 3:21Speaker 2: next one with uh Miguel Rojas off off of Hoffin,
- 3:24Speaker 2: which wasn't a bad pitch. Now, the one the Beaver
- 3:27Speaker 2: threw to Will Smith was a hangar, but the other
- 3:28Speaker 2: ones are great. It was base running, the catch. Can
- 3:31Speaker 2: we talk about the catch that Pie has made where
- 3:33Speaker 2: Kik died in the outfit It looked like and he
- 3:35Speaker 2: just laid there for like five minutes and they had
- 3:37Speaker 2: to get the stretcher for him to come up. I mean,
- 3:39Speaker 2: it was like what happened Kek and then the base
- 3:41Speaker 2: running of IKF. The plays in Yamamoto. He threw six
- 3:46Speaker 2: innings the night before, let's not forget, and then he
- 3:48Speaker 2: came out in two and two thirds.
- 3:50Speaker 4: Oh yeah, well wait, we gotta keep our pitchers healthy
- 3:53Speaker 4: by not throwing him this much.
- 3:55Speaker 2: This is why the Dodger signed him.
- 3:57Speaker 4: This is why he got three hundred and something million
- 3:59Speaker 4: because this was It's faking awesome. He's been there two years,
- 4:01Speaker 4: he's won two World Series and what he did in
- 4:03Speaker 4: this one World Series made that whole contract worth it
- 4:05Speaker 4: because it was unbelievably awesome. I mean, you forgot about
- 4:09Speaker 4: Miguel Rojas's play. You forgot about the fact that Yamamoto
- 4:14Speaker 4: fielded a bunt winning by a run, and it was
- 4:18Speaker 4: a ridiculous bunt by IKF. Not gonna debate here right
- 4:21Speaker 4: now if he should have butted or not, but it
- 4:24Speaker 4: was a perfect bunt and a perfect throw, and Vladimir
- 4:28Speaker 4: Guerrero was making diving plays. The groundball double play that
- 4:32Speaker 4: he turned on Freddy Freeman was ridiculous, and the fact
- 4:38Speaker 4: that I just can't I can't get over. I can't
- 4:40Speaker 4: get over the fact that we could be talking about
- 4:43Speaker 4: the Blue Jays and Ernie Clement being the MVP driving
- 4:47Speaker 4: away in whatever car they're giving away now, or we're
- 4:51Speaker 4: talking about Yamamoto being the MVP, and the fact that
- 4:56Speaker 4: he came in and hit Kirk. It wasn't looking great.
- 4:59Speaker 4: He was kind of shaky, and it's just it's amazing
- 5:04Speaker 4: how it just shifts that fast and that amazed. There's
- 5:07Speaker 4: there's not enough time to talk about everything that happens.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Yeah, how about can we talk about him Inez sticking
- 5:14Speaker 2: his hand out trying to get hit, and then he does.
- 5:16Speaker 4: Get hit and he gets mad like what are we doing?
- 5:19Speaker 4: What are we doing? He tried to get He literally
- 5:21Speaker 4: stuck his hand out there, and we love andres Minnez.
- 5:23Speaker 2: He used to be on the show all the time.
- 5:24Speaker 2: He's literally tried to stick his it and I've done
- 5:26Speaker 2: some stuff, but I've never actively tried to stick my
- 5:30Speaker 2: hand out and getting hit by the ball. That was
- 5:31Speaker 2: That was some crazy stuff. And then he got mad
- 5:33Speaker 2: when he did get hit. Dude, he just tried to
- 5:35Speaker 2: get hit. And now you can't get mad because you
- 5:37Speaker 2: got hit, Like.
- 5:37Speaker 3: What are we doing?
- 5:40Speaker 1: It's like some matrix stuff, right. I was making fun
- 5:43Speaker 1: of it on the postgame show the other day and
- 5:45Speaker 1: someone was like, no, he was yelling for Rubleski to
- 5:48Speaker 1: throw the ball over the plate. I'm like, yeah, I
- 5:50Speaker 1: know what he was yelling for. But what a pitch
- 5:52Speaker 1: or two before that?
- 5:53Speaker 2: When you go like this, he was next playground a
- 5:57Speaker 2: jay like his bat was here.
- 6:00Speaker 4: Then he went, oh, it almost hit me. Oh no,
- 6:02Speaker 4: And then he does get hit in the hand and
- 6:04Speaker 4: he yells at the picture like, no, that's that was
- 6:06Speaker 4: the best thing that could have happened. You got hit
- 6:07Speaker 4: and you got on base.
- 6:10Speaker 1: He was not trying to hit the nine hitter, that's
- 6:13Speaker 1: for damn sure.
- 6:15Speaker 2: No.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Robleski basically said that. He's like, dude, you think I'm
- 6:19Speaker 1: trying to hit you?
- 6:20Speaker 3: All right?
- 6:20Speaker 1: So do you know how many teams entered the ninth
- 6:23Speaker 1: inning in a Do or Die World Series game trailing?
- 6:29Speaker 3: Uh?
- 6:30Speaker 1: There have been thirty six of those?
- 6:33Speaker 4: What one hundred because somebody always enters the ninth inning.
- 6:39Speaker 1: No, no, no, no. But in a in a Do or
- 6:41Speaker 1: Die World Series Game seven, there have been thirty six
- 6:44Speaker 1: when you're thirty six instances when you're trailing. Three times
- 6:48Speaker 1: we've seen comebacks. This is no. Three times and the
- 6:51Speaker 1: first time we've seen it on the road. But two
- 6:54Speaker 1: thousand and one Diamondbacks nineteen ninety seven Marlins Oh one
- 6:57Speaker 1: was Marianna Rivera giving it up? Nineteen ninety seven was
- 7:00Speaker 1: do you do you know who the closer was back
- 7:02Speaker 1: then for Cleveland?
- 7:03Speaker 3: Do you guys remember Joe Table was.
- 7:06Speaker 1: No, yeah, yeah, exactly. I was like, that's say no,
- 7:08Speaker 1: but you're right. Jose Masa just I'm AJ's interpreter, translator whatever.
- 7:14Speaker 2: That's what they called them. That's what everybody cut. That's
- 7:17Speaker 2: why translator Jose Mason.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:20Speaker 2: And Tony Fernandez made that huge error that cost him
- 7:24Speaker 2: and then uh Edgar and Aria got the hit off.
- 7:27Speaker 4: Charles nag Gain exter inning still win it. H Craig
- 7:31Speaker 4: Counseil scored the winning run.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Dude, how about Dave Roberts in the decision? You mentioned
- 7:37Speaker 1: the Andy Pajes catch that was a late little switch.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Eru by Doc. Of course, Yamamoto made certain parts easy
- 7:45Speaker 1: because Doc after Game six was like yeah, everyone but Yamamoto,
- 7:49Speaker 1: and Yamamoto was like, excuse me, sir, I would like
- 7:52Speaker 1: a word. I actually am available to keep this thing running.
- 7:56Speaker 1: But he made a number of great decisions over the
- 7:59Speaker 1: course of the series, and especially late here, none bigger
- 8:03Speaker 1: than clicking Migau Rojas into the lineup for the last
- 8:06Speaker 1: couple of games. But this is a Hall of Fame
- 8:09Speaker 1: manager who has a ton of experience and he's been
- 8:11Speaker 1: getting the job done.
- 8:12Speaker 4: Aj he's going to the Hall of Fame. He should
- 8:15Speaker 4: go to all and everyone can say, remember twenty twenty,
- 8:17Speaker 4: Oh it doesn't count because it was short.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Well, now he's going back to back. This is his
- 8:21Speaker 2: third World Series title. He's got one of the best
- 8:23Speaker 2: if I think he might have the best winning percentage
- 8:25Speaker 2: of all time for any manager. So he's going to
- 8:28Speaker 2: the Hall of Fame. So people can get off Doc
- 8:30Speaker 2: and Dave Roberts and say, ah, this is that. But
- 8:32Speaker 2: this dude's going to the Hall of Fame as a manager.
- 8:34Speaker 2: He's a great guy. He's a great manager, and he
- 8:37Speaker 2: made all the right moves through from the eighteen inning
- 8:39Speaker 2: game to the last two, six and seven, going to Toronto,
- 8:42Speaker 2: down the moves, with the way he handled the pitching
- 8:45Speaker 2: and the way he brought guys in, the way he
- 8:47Speaker 2: used guys, didn't use guys. This was a great This
- 8:50Speaker 2: was a masterclass by him, and he deserves a lot
- 8:53Speaker 2: of credit for what he did.
- 8:55Speaker 4: Based on how Yamamoto looked. If the Dodgers lose, is
- 8:58Speaker 4: he to blame Yamamoto? No, Robert, Dave Roberts and the
- 9:07Speaker 4: first battery hits, he hits Kerr. Why would you bring
- 9:10Speaker 4: in him? You know what I'm saying, Like, if you're
- 9:11Speaker 4: talking about if does he get blame if the Dodgers
- 9:15Speaker 4: lost Dave.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Roberts, No, absolutely. I mean he used Glassdow to close
- 9:23Speaker 2: Game six. Remember it was second and third and no
- 9:25Speaker 2: outs and he came running Glasnow and Glasnew went three pitches. Now,
- 9:29Speaker 2: it was terrible bass running by the Blue Jays and Barger,
- 9:31Speaker 2: who we've been talking about how great he was. I
- 9:33Speaker 2: was terrible base running, but we were not going to
- 9:35Speaker 2: even mention it because his Game six. But a great
- 9:37Speaker 2: play by Kik, great played by Mickey Rowe to pick
- 9:40Speaker 2: that ball, but it was bad base running. It led
- 9:42Speaker 2: to the whole thing.
- 9:43Speaker 4: And then I mean the next game, I mean he
- 9:45Speaker 4: used everybody's snell, right, he used Glass now, right, he
- 9:48Speaker 4: used Yamamoto, right, he used show Hey, right, he was Robleski.
- 9:51Speaker 2: I mean, this dude just crushed.
- 9:52Speaker 4: And this was out the guy who was their best
- 9:54Speaker 4: reliever for most of the year, and that's Fescia.
- 9:56Speaker 2: It was out for personal reasons. So I think Dave
- 9:58Speaker 2: Roberts did everything right when he put for defensive replacement
- 10:02Speaker 2: in that game and he made that catch to save it.
- 10:04Speaker 4: I think I think he I mean, listen, you can
- 10:06Speaker 4: always say, oh this and that blah blah blah blah blah,
- 10:08Speaker 4: But I mean I thought he.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Nailed this world series.
- 10:10Speaker 2: I thought, you know what, I thought both managers did
- 10:12Speaker 2: a really nice job in this. In this I thought
- 10:15Speaker 2: Schneider tried to do everything right too. It just didn't
- 10:17Speaker 2: work out. They gave him some home runs late, but
- 10:19Speaker 2: I thought Schneider was crushed, crushed it with what he
- 10:21Speaker 2: had too.
- 10:23Speaker 1: Will Smith to the two spot infield back for the
- 10:26Speaker 1: Alejandro Kirk double play. I mean, there's just a lot
- 10:30Speaker 1: that you look at and you're like, well played, well done.
- 10:33Speaker 1: These guys knew what they were doing. And lastly, Kershaw
- 10:35Speaker 1: gets to win on his way out. Nuki Betts has
- 10:37Speaker 1: won four of the last eight World Series titles. You
- 10:41Speaker 1: have the players from Japan who shined. Of course Otani
- 10:46Speaker 1: Yamamoto and I know not as much of a fact
- 10:48Speaker 1: of the last couple of weeks, but look at what
- 10:51Speaker 1: he did in the beginning of the postseason, rookie Sasaki
- 10:54Speaker 1: emerging as their closer to save the day. So it
- 10:56Speaker 1: was just super cool. So many storylines, Miguel Rojas not
- 11:00Speaker 1: hitting a home run against a right handed, real right
- 11:02Speaker 1: handed pitcher all year logan porter position player was the
- 11:06Speaker 1: only one he had ftfam. If you want more information

- 12:09Speaker 1: with Superpower. Hey Key. K Hernandez gave a shout out
- 12:15Speaker 1: to the Toronto Blue Jays pitchers for wearing number fifty
- 12:19Speaker 1: one on their cops. That was an honor of Alex Bessio,
- 12:21Speaker 1: who was going through a really serious personal situation with
- 12:24Speaker 1: his family. He said, yeah, I didn't notice until Bassett.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Actually after Bassett struck me out and then I was
- 12:29Speaker 1: looking up at the board to see the replay, That's
- 12:31Speaker 1: when I saw that he had fifty one. Instead of
- 12:33Speaker 1: being mad that I struck out, I was kind of
- 12:34Speaker 1: going back to the dougout thinking did Bassett play with
- 12:36Speaker 1: VESI at some point? Then after the game, I saw
- 12:39Speaker 1: that everybody had them, and then a continuing quote here
- 12:44Speaker 1: from KEYK coming up. For those guys to do that,
- 12:50Speaker 1: it's incredible. They're trying to win a World Series, but
- 12:52Speaker 1: they understand that this is life, is bigger than baseball.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Baseball is just a game. For them to do that
- 12:56Speaker 1: with the stakes where we were at with the stakes,
- 12:58Speaker 1: hats off to them, and I want to know that
- 13:00Speaker 1: we appreciate them regardless of what happens tonight, we appreciate
- 13:04Speaker 1: what they did. Also, it is parade day for the Dodgers,
- 13:08Speaker 1: so we'll get more quotes to read for tomorrow's show.
- 13:11Speaker 1: I'm sure there will be some fire and maybe some
- 13:15Speaker 1: beverg just being handed out that creates some exciting quotes.
- 13:20Speaker 1: I don't think they're going to smash the blue Jays
- 13:22Speaker 1: like they did the Yankees. Verbally, the blue Jays are
- 13:24Speaker 1: damn good and had ninety opportunities to win this. We're
- 13:28Speaker 1: going to do a whole section on missed chances for
- 13:31Speaker 1: the Blue Jays, and we'll start with the IKF debate,
- 13:33Speaker 1: but we'll do that coming up. Of course, we're going
- 13:37Speaker 1: to get to some other news around the sport, and
- 13:40Speaker 1: we'll do that the next few segments and then work
- 13:42Speaker 1: our way back to the World Series. So let's start
- 13:45Speaker 1: with the little Atlanta Braves news. One of the hottest
- 13:48Speaker 1: manager openings still out there. I think it's fair to
- 13:52Speaker 1: say Padre's job and Brave's job. Mark Bowman today tweeted
- 13:56Speaker 1: the Braves will likely announce their new manager within the
- 13:58Speaker 1: next few days. Still feels like Danny Laman is the favorite,
- 14:02Speaker 1: and he, of course was busy with the Dodgers. If
- 14:04Speaker 1: he gets the job, winning a second straight World Series
- 14:07Speaker 1: and getting your first chance to manage would qualify for
- 14:10Speaker 1: an incredible few days. Alexanthopolis AJ is pretty notorious for
- 14:14Speaker 1: keeping it close to the vest. They make decisions with
- 14:18Speaker 1: a very small group of people, like the final Call,
- 14:21Speaker 1: and they make sure it doesn't leak. That's just his thing.
- 14:25Speaker 1: So there could be others in play that we don't
- 14:27Speaker 1: know about.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, if Danny Layman gets it, good for him.
- 14:33Speaker 2: It's just another trend. Though, Cratch, you just keep showing
- 14:36Speaker 2: me you don't have the gms and the front offices
- 14:40Speaker 2: don't value guys that played in the major leagues at all,
- 14:43Speaker 2: because we keep getting these guys that were minor league
- 14:45Speaker 2: guys and they work their way up from video coordinator
- 14:48Speaker 2: to this to this to this to this, and I
- 14:49Speaker 2: know he was on the bench of the Dodgers last
- 14:51Speaker 2: couple of years, and if he does get it, congratulations.
- 14:54Speaker 2: But it's just a shift in the philosophy of where
- 14:56Speaker 2: we're at because before it was like, yeah, we want
- 14:59Speaker 2: someone that's been there, done that, that has gone completely
- 15:01Speaker 2: away from not only managers but also coaches.
- 15:05Speaker 3: Danny.
- 15:05Speaker 4: I mean, we'll talk about it more, but Danny Layman's
- 15:07Speaker 4: been He's been on the bench with the Dodgers for
- 15:09Speaker 4: a long time. I mean he's been there I think
- 15:12Speaker 4: since seventeen or eighteen, and he hustled to get there.
- 15:16Speaker 4: So he's a little bit different than what the Nats hired.
- 15:19Speaker 4: But I agree with you a.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Jay a Corner time. The Rockies have two finalists. Oh wait, no,
- 15:31Speaker 1: they don't. Now they're actually moving on from their reported
- 15:35Speaker 1: two finalists for the top baseball operations job. So classic Rockies.
- 15:41Speaker 1: They didn't lose enough this season. They're kind of losing
- 15:44Speaker 1: in terms of figuring out who is going to run
- 15:47Speaker 1: their front office. Kind of a big deal. Hey, maybe
- 15:50Speaker 1: we just don't know some information about someone involved. Again,
- 15:53Speaker 1: it's just maybe getting kept really close to the best,
- 15:56Speaker 1: but we did hear from reports and really good reporters
- 16:01Speaker 1: like britt Joliken Rosenthal, et cetera about Arizona Diamondback's assistant
- 16:06Speaker 1: jam Amiel Sade and Cleveland Guardians assistant jam Mat Forman,
- 16:09Speaker 1: both in the running, both doing those deep dived interviews.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Final interview last Monday for Soday at coors Field and
- 16:19Speaker 1: for Foreman, he was in Colorado the week before final
- 16:23Speaker 1: in person interview. Aja, I guess the team said no thanks,
- 16:29Speaker 1: they weren't interested, or the others said no thanks, depending
- 16:33Speaker 1: on what the offer was. That's always possible. Some assistant
- 16:36Speaker 1: GM's are very well taken care of, and if you
- 16:39Speaker 1: think about it, the Rockies could be one of those
- 16:41Speaker 1: teams that doesn't want to value this position. So there's
- 16:43Speaker 1: a chance of that. There's also a chance the Rockies
- 16:45Speaker 1: are like, I can't go outside your organization. I hate
- 16:48Speaker 1: doing that.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Uh have you what's the emoji that's like this? The
- 16:53Speaker 2: people are like, who knows what's going on in Colorado
- 16:59Speaker 2: right now? I mean they have but we thought they
- 17:00Speaker 2: were gonna name a guy.
- 17:01Speaker 4: Then they have a name a guy. I mean they
- 17:03Speaker 4: have still have an interim manager, but they still have
- 17:05Speaker 4: the same owner.
- 17:07Speaker 2: So just think about this. God, they don't like going
- 17:09Speaker 2: outside the organizations or anybody in the organization they could
- 17:11Speaker 2: hire to be the GM. And we all know they
- 17:15Speaker 2: don't like to spend money because they like to stay
- 17:17Speaker 2: nice and under They like to draw their two point
- 17:19Speaker 2: five million and make a lot of money. So maybe
- 17:21Speaker 2: they're not gonna do this. I don't know.
- 17:22Speaker 4: This is wild to me. They don't have a GM
- 17:24Speaker 4: by no, wow, I mean, how are they gonna make
- 17:30Speaker 4: how There's there's so much to unpack with this that
- 17:32Speaker 4: I just I'm glad they went outside the organization for
- 17:36Speaker 4: the interviews because AJ's white SOX did not seem to
- 17:40Speaker 4: do that. So I think that is a good thing.
- 17:43Speaker 4: But the proof will be in the pudding. Like you
- 17:48Speaker 4: can say all you want, you can say we're going
- 17:50Speaker 4: outside our little bubble, but if they don't actually go
- 17:53Speaker 4: outside the bubble with their hiring, and they just bring
- 17:56Speaker 4: in somebody who has been either with the organization before
- 18:00Speaker 4: or currently with the organization, and they're just changing their
- 18:03Speaker 4: names and it's just going to be the same status quo.
- 18:05Speaker 4: They need a GM to come in that isn't afraid
- 18:08Speaker 4: to say, guys, we have to think about things a
- 18:11Speaker 4: little bit differently.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Do you know who their next manager is? Neither do
- 18:17Speaker 1: they if they were interested in anyone that currently got
- 18:21Speaker 1: a job too late. My thing is aja you're going
- 18:26Speaker 1: to let the new GM or president of baseball aps
- 18:29Speaker 1: whatever they want to call the next guy choose their manager,
- 18:32Speaker 1: and maybe it's not going to matter, especially with the
- 18:35Speaker 1: way that there are guys that are coming out of
- 18:36Speaker 1: left field to manage. Don't you want to put your
- 18:40Speaker 1: head honcho of the front office in a good position
- 18:42Speaker 1: to succeed and have as many candidates available as possible.
- 18:46Speaker 1: It's like, let's let all the seats fill up. Then
- 18:49Speaker 1: we'll figure out our president baseball operations, then we'll figure
- 18:52Speaker 1: out our manager with whatever scraps are there. It's not scraps,
- 18:56Speaker 1: but you know what I'm saying, put them in a
- 18:57Speaker 1: position to succeed.
- 18:59Speaker 2: Already, Grave Andadres don't have managers either. You're not saying
- 19:02Speaker 2: this about them. The Rockies officially still have a manager.
- 19:06Speaker 2: They haven't gotten rid of h M mcevn. What's his name, Shaeffer? Sorry, Shaffer,
- 19:13Speaker 2: they haven't got rid.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Of No, it's it's them. I'm like ninety nine percent.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Sure they're getting a new manager in there.
- 19:22Speaker 3: But they didn't.
- 19:23Speaker 1: They didn't talk about they didn't realok it, I don't know,
- 19:26Speaker 1: they didn't.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Of them.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Okay, well, they have other things to figure out, like
- 19:34Speaker 1: their front office first. But anyway, on that topic, front
- 19:38Speaker 1: office unfiltered.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Maybe they're getting a Dodgers and they were waiting back
- 19:43Speaker 2: or Toronto person. Maybe that's what we don't know.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Well, that's the hold up with Atlanta. At least part
- 19:49Speaker 1: of the hold up is that there's somebody involved with
- 19:52Speaker 1: the Dodgers and Danny Layman. Anyway, front, Hey, we told
- 19:59Speaker 1: you about Huls new Daily Greens ready to drink can,
- 20:03Speaker 1: but also we do not want to forget about the og.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Your favorite Love that chocolate peanut butter you ankrats love
- 20:10Speaker 2: that chocolate peanut butter flavor.
- 20:13Speaker 1: That's my favorite one mm it's so good. Breakdown the
- 20:18Speaker 1: vanilla also good.
- 20:20Speaker 4: But when they send me a chocolate peanut butter, oh,
- 20:23Speaker 4: it's like a dessert, but it's not.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Thirty five grams of protein, no added sugar, gluten free

- 20:56Speaker 1: help support FT. Great ratings for the World Series. Is
- 21:02Speaker 1: that what you're talking to on your Heuel phone? Crash?
- 21:05Speaker 4: I was just yeah, I was talking to my hunger
- 21:06Speaker 4: and he was taking care of it, so that's it.
- 21:08Speaker 1: I was just good, take a sip later if you're hungry.
- 21:14Speaker 1: Twenty six million. I'm running up from twenty five million,
- 21:18Speaker 1: nine hundred eighty four thousand viewers tuned in on average
- 21:22Speaker 1: for the Dodgers Game seven clincher, most since twenty seventeen.
- 21:28Speaker 1: Game seven between the Dodgers and the Astros back then
- 21:31Speaker 1: averaged about twenty eight million. Game seven peaked on Fox
- 21:35Speaker 1: with thirty one and a half million viewers. Final viewership
- 21:40Speaker 1: info is expected on Tuesday. Today is Monday, and we'll
- 21:45Speaker 1: also get numbers from Japan and numbers from Canada. And
- 21:50Speaker 1: this was a truly international World series that had a
- 21:53Speaker 1: ton of people watching. Actually, AJ, we always joke about this.
- 21:57Speaker 1: We just went over the US ratings. Toronto doesn't count
- 22:01Speaker 1: in there, right, that's and Canada itself is in its
- 22:04Speaker 1: own world. They still did pretty damn well.
- 22:07Speaker 2: They did really well for a team not being one
- 22:09Speaker 2: of the teams not being in the US. So that
- 22:11Speaker 2: I mean, I think everyone that says baseball is dead
- 22:13Speaker 2: this and that you're wrong. Baseball is thriving and we
- 22:16Speaker 2: need just to stay the course and listen. We don't
- 22:20Speaker 2: give We're a show that doesn't give Rob Manford a
- 22:22Speaker 2: lot of credit for a lot of things on this show.
- 22:24Speaker 2: But the pitch clock and some of the other moves
- 22:26Speaker 2: he's made has made baseball more fun and more action,
- 22:29Speaker 2: no shift things like that, bigger bases, more stolen bases.
- 22:32Speaker 2: He's done some good things and the viewers are responding
- 22:35Speaker 2: by coming out to watch. And the Dodgers did not
- 22:38Speaker 2: rooin baseball. They actually got a lot of people to watch.
- 22:41Speaker 3: Hey.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Hey, teams leading entering the ninth with a chance to
- 22:44Speaker 1: clinch the World Series are one, O, two and seven
- 22:46Speaker 1: all times, So this plays more to what you were
- 22:48Speaker 1: talking about, Krats. Of course, there were times where it
- 22:52Speaker 1: was tied entering the ninth. But when you're leading entering
- 22:55Speaker 1: the ninth one, O two and seven and we're looking
- 22:58Speaker 1: at the losses. That scenario in games fours, five, six
- 23:03Speaker 1: is sevens including Game seven the other night.
- 23:09Speaker 4: Crazy crazy, all historic, all historic games obviously, But man,
- 23:16Speaker 4: I just can't when when I keep stacking up everything,
- 23:18Speaker 4: even on this show, like AJ says something, I talk
- 23:22Speaker 4: about it, and we forgot about this. You say something,
- 23:25Speaker 4: we talk about Oh what about that? Like there's so
- 23:28Speaker 4: much from this game. There's all those all those games.
- 23:31Speaker 4: Obviously I don't remember all of them, but I remember
- 23:34Speaker 4: the ones that was alive for Yeah, the ten and
- 23:38Speaker 4: eleven Game five, Game four, and Game five of the A's.
- 23:40Speaker 4: I mean, which is the Kansas.
- 23:42Speaker 2: City as, the Oakland A's, the Philadelphia's, the Moneyball A's, which.
- 23:45Speaker 4: One they all?
- 23:46Speaker 2: They all apparently bees, But I mean the game six
- 23:50Speaker 2: was in that the Don Dakenser game where he missed city,
- 23:53Speaker 2: missed first base.
- 23:53Speaker 4: Wasn't at that game? The Empire four Umpire Game seven Cleveland.
- 23:56Speaker 2: We talked about Jose MESA game twenty eleven Game six Rangers.
- 24:00Speaker 4: I was at that one.
- 24:01Speaker 3: One day.
- 24:01Speaker 2: I'll tell you the story about what I saw in
- 24:03Speaker 2: the Rangers bullpen Game seven the Blue Jays, Yeah, we
- 24:06Speaker 2: just witnessed it, but yeah, those are all a lot
- 24:09Speaker 2: of those are iconic iconic games, and for both franchises
- 24:13Speaker 2: one way or the other. I mean, the Mariano Rivera
- 24:15Speaker 2: one is probably the one that people would say, no way,
- 24:17Speaker 2: that really happened Tony Wollmackett in the big hit, right,
- 24:20Speaker 2: And you mentioned the infield back for the for the
- 24:22Speaker 2: Dodgers first and third, I remember the Yankees brought the
- 24:26Speaker 2: infield in and Louis Gonzalez hit the ball that barely
- 24:28Speaker 2: got to the outfield grass or the winning hit. So yeah,
- 24:31Speaker 2: these are all iconic, iconic games for both sets of franchises.
- 24:34Speaker 2: And the ones at least that I remember now ten
- 24:36Speaker 2: and eleven, I wouldn't even lie for that, so I
- 24:37Speaker 2: don't know. But the other ones are pretty amazing.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Tons of historical contexts that we can show. This was
- 24:47Speaker 1: one of the all timers. I mean, freaking ninth inning
- 24:50Speaker 1: and then nine hitter, that's it done to die up
- 24:53Speaker 1: the game. Off Hoffman and again we're gonna do a
- 24:55Speaker 1: separate section on the Blue Jays. We'll start with Ikav
- 24:58Speaker 1: being a little bit on Jeff hoppin. We'll do that
- 25:00Speaker 1: a little bit later in the show, but coming up neck.
- 25:06Speaker 1: Omaha Steaks is the official sponsor of tailgating. Yes, tailgating.
- 25:13Speaker 3: I know about tailgating.
- 25:14Speaker 1: This guy knows you want a good burger. Mm hm oh,
- 25:19Speaker 1: Maha Steaks.
- 25:20Speaker 2: I've even gone so far as to buy little charcoal
- 25:22Speaker 2: grills that you can take with you that are about
- 25:24Speaker 2: the a big and take my Omaha steaks and put
- 25:26Speaker 2: them on a grill right there and eat them before
- 25:28Speaker 2: game and sometimes even after.
- 25:30Speaker 1: For more than a century, Omaha Steaks has delivered the

- 25:50Speaker 4: chicken bross, the chicken right on the grill boom.

- 26:04Speaker 1: Apply sea site for details. Hey we're back and there
- 26:10Speaker 1: are a ton of opt outs today. I know some
- 26:11Speaker 1: of you in the chat have asked about it. None
- 26:14Speaker 1: of them are surprising. These are all opt outs that
- 26:17Speaker 1: have been expected for a while and opt ins. I
- 26:19Speaker 1: believe we heard Lord Discuriel opting in. I mean, he's
- 26:23Speaker 1: got a big injury that he's trying to recover from.
- 26:26Speaker 1: I think he's going to miss a good chunk of
- 26:27Speaker 1: this coming season. But on the opt out side, we
- 26:30Speaker 1: covered some of these with Voden already. But Alex Bregman,
- 26:33Speaker 1: Ranger Suarez, Edwin Diaz, Cody Bellinger, anybody that's really good,
- 26:41Speaker 1: that has money left that is less than the guarantee
- 26:44Speaker 1: they would get on the free agent market is opting out.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Like there are a few people asking about Bregmant, I'm like,
- 26:50Speaker 1: there's zero surprise that Alex Bregman.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Is Alonzo, Edwin Diaz, all these Cody Bellinger, they all
- 26:56Speaker 2: had good years, so they guess what they're all like,
- 26:58Speaker 2: let's try again. I mean Edwin Diaz, does Edwin Diaz?
- 27:04Speaker 2: Let me ask you this, does Edwin Diaz? I mean
- 27:05Speaker 2: the Mets have to re sign him Pete Alonso and
- 27:07Speaker 2: make some other moves. I mean, how much money does
- 27:09Speaker 2: Stevie Cohen have?
- 27:11Speaker 1: Yes, they might not, they might not.
- 27:15Speaker 2: They can't lose him, though they lose I mean their bullpenalty,
- 27:18Speaker 2: they lose him, they lose Rogers, they lose Hellesley. I
- 27:21Speaker 2: know people are gonna say, well, they didn't do that great,
- 27:22Speaker 2: but still they're gonna lose all these guys and Peter
- 27:25Speaker 2: a Lonzo and try to compete next year against the
- 27:26Speaker 2: Phillies and the Braves, who should be better.
- 27:30Speaker 4: Really, I was just answering, yes to how much money
- 27:34Speaker 4: does Peter how much money does Cohen have?
- 27:38Speaker 3: Yes?
- 27:38Speaker 4: The answer is yes, he's revamping all of the chop
- 27:42Speaker 4: shops outside of He's good. He's good, he's gonna.
- 27:45Speaker 1: Buy he can afford them all. I don't know if
- 27:50Speaker 1: he's going to do that. He might switch things up.
- 27:54Speaker 1: He's super competitive, he's pissed his team didn't even make
- 27:57Speaker 1: the playoffs. Think about that, that current mix didn't make
- 28:00Speaker 1: the playoffs. And of course you're going to say it's
- 28:02Speaker 1: not this person's fault, it's not that person's fault. It
- 28:04Speaker 1: doesn't mean that the owner doesn't want to try something else,
- 28:08Speaker 1: just throwing that out there. There are going to be changes.
- 28:11Speaker 1: There's an opportunity to do that when there's a free
- 28:13Speaker 1: agent and you replace him with someone else, to try
- 28:15Speaker 1: and switch things up and say, hey, I know you
- 28:17Speaker 1: like this guy, but you didn't make the playoffs as
- 28:19Speaker 1: a team, so you don't get this guy back. Just
- 28:21Speaker 1: throwing that out there. I would not be surprised. This
- 28:23Speaker 1: was one of the best quotes during the World Series.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Came right afterward when guys were in tears in the
- 28:28Speaker 1: Blue Jays clubhouse. Max Scherzer said, I'm forty one years old,
- 28:32Speaker 1: and I never thought I could love baseball this much.
- 28:33Speaker 1: My love for the game was so strong because their
- 28:36Speaker 1: love for the game. I thought that was great. That
- 28:39Speaker 1: really resonates for a lot of fans that have been
- 28:41Speaker 1: following Max for a long time.
- 28:44Speaker 4: Max.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Max is a real deal man. I don't know what
- 28:47Speaker 2: you can say about Max. He loves the game, he
- 28:50Speaker 2: has the best time, he's a competitive as hell. He's
- 28:53Speaker 2: going in the Hall of Fame on the first ballot.
- 28:54Speaker 2: I mean, this just shows you why baseball is great.
- 28:56Speaker 2: How much this means to guys. Everyone that says, oh,
- 28:58Speaker 2: the players don't care. Max has made more money than
- 29:01Speaker 2: he ever thought. He's making his life and he's going
- 29:03Speaker 2: to be said for his family's family. Family is going
- 29:05Speaker 2: to be set for life right through baseball because baseball
- 29:08Speaker 2: is awesome and the work he put into, how good
- 29:10Speaker 2: he was. This just shows you when people say, oh,
- 29:12Speaker 2: these players don't really care, they all care, and they
- 29:14Speaker 2: all want to do well, and they all want are
- 29:16Speaker 2: competitive as hell.
- 29:18Speaker 1: And Max is coming back. He was like, that wasn't
- 29:20Speaker 1: my last pitch. So we'll talk about him and his
- 29:23Speaker 1: free agency at some point this offseason.
- 29:26Speaker 3: Two.
- 29:26Speaker 1: All right, slap pans coming up. Jim Betts are closed.
- 29:39Speaker 1: In baseball. We finished strong. I will say everybody hit
- 29:44Speaker 1: besides Pap. Pap had a shot. He had a shot.
- 29:48Speaker 1: The police has had a chance to win that game.
- 29:50Speaker 1: Seven and then some gossman went over fifteen and a half.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Out for me. Todd father did not get cursed by
- 29:58Speaker 1: the crafts. Both of them went big on the under
- 30:02Speaker 1: seven and a half runs.
- 30:04Speaker 3: Good for you, crats, yep, appreciate you. It's not how
- 30:08Speaker 3: it starts, he finished.
- 30:09Speaker 1: What were you concerned about extras?
- 30:14Speaker 3: Not at all. No, not the way the Dodgers figured.
- 30:16Speaker 1: It's just going to be a run.
- 30:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I was good three one. That was no sweat.
- 30:22Speaker 3: That was no sweat all day.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Yeah. You know, well, you know how extras is. Anyway,
- 30:28Speaker 1: in most playoff scenarios, everyone's trying to hit a solo homer.
- 30:32Speaker 1: Odds to win the twenty twenty six World Series at
- 30:35Speaker 1: bet MGM Dodgers at plus three fifty. There's only one
- 30:39Speaker 1: other team that's under ten to one odds, and that's
- 30:42Speaker 1: the Yankees at plus eight hundred. Any value on the
- 30:46Speaker 1: board a year in.
- 30:46Speaker 2: Advanced to take the Braids. I'll take the Braves right now.
- 30:50Speaker 2: The brains want a price, What a price? I'll take
- 30:53Speaker 2: the break one. I'll take them out of the out
- 30:56Speaker 2: of the teams that have value, They're the one. They
- 30:58Speaker 2: have sale, they have Strider back after second year. They're
- 31:01Speaker 2: gonna make some moves, they have their basically their whole
- 31:03Speaker 2: team back. The Braves are the team for me that
- 31:05Speaker 2: it has the best chance at good value. And know
- 31:08Speaker 2: I'm just saying they're gonna win the World Series, but
- 31:09Speaker 2: they have a good value.
- 31:11Speaker 4: Ronaldo Lopez will be back. They produced seven hundred pitchers
- 31:16Speaker 4: from the minor league system. I'm not sure when Smith
- 31:19Speaker 4: Schalver and all this, I one hundred percent agreed. I
- 31:21Speaker 4: plus two thousand. I feel like they moved it to
- 31:23Speaker 4: two thousand just so that I would be like, yeah,
- 31:27Speaker 4: what is it November third? Locking it in.
- 31:31Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure the Blue Jays were like sixty of
- 31:33Speaker 1: one to start the season something crazy like that. Last Yeah,
- 31:39Speaker 1: after finishing last It's not a surprise. They came damn
- 31:42Speaker 1: close to making some people really happy.
- 31:45Speaker 4: They were.
- 31:45Speaker 1: They were plus eight point fifty when they were down
- 31:48Speaker 1: a game in the ALCS.
- 31:52Speaker 3: As the Dodgers at that point, the Dodgers.
- 31:55Speaker 4: I bought the Dodgers at plus two ten when they
- 31:58Speaker 4: were down what were they down? One? Oh? No, I
- 32:02Speaker 4: forget when I bought the Dodgers, but it was it
- 32:04Speaker 4: was It was crazy. I was like, how do you
- 32:07Speaker 4: feel like the Dodgers aren't going to win this?
- 32:18Speaker 1: All right, let's slap. First off, we're gonna do our
- 32:20Speaker 1: bonus segment on YouTube if you want to join us,
- 32:22Speaker 1: if you're watching on TV right now, then Foul Territory
- 32:25Speaker 1: YouTube Channel two and three, eight thousand subscribers. We love
- 32:28Speaker 1: you all. Will talk about the Blue Jays missed opportunities,
- 32:33Speaker 1: but I think, aha, you have a birthday to shout
- 32:37Speaker 1: out on your list.
- 32:40Speaker 3: I love birthdays.
- 32:41Speaker 2: Oh I love Yeah, there's two today one Rokie Sazaki's
- 32:45Speaker 2: his birthday and they're having a parade. So happy twenty
- 32:47Speaker 2: fourth birthday. That's it, jeez. And second of all, do
- 32:51Speaker 2: you know who the big birthday is today? And we
- 32:53Speaker 2: didn't even mention it till the very end? Producer Ladies birthday?
- 32:59Speaker 4: She turned up. Wait I got one more, Wait, I
- 33:05Speaker 4: got one more, Wait, I got one more?
- 33:07Speaker 3: Wait? Wait how much time?
- 33:11Speaker 1: Inside joke, inside joke? She gets to have her first
- 33:16Speaker 1: drink tonight. Congratulations one drink crats as the way out,
- 33:26Speaker 1: but not really, because we're gonna do a few more minutes.
- 33:29Speaker 3: Wooster wool socks the Red Sox Triple A team.
- 33:35Speaker 1: Is that a heart in the middle with the curly dub?
- 33:40Speaker 1: Does it form?
- 33:42Speaker 3: I never noticed that?
- 33:45Speaker 1: Yeah, Wooster Love, Wooster Love, because nobody outside of that
- 33:50Speaker 1: area can pronounce the Are you from Rochester, Worcester? Very nice?
- 34:00Speaker 1: Very nice? All right, So we're saying by here and
- 34:03Speaker 1: a reminder to everyone, we're doing this every single day, weekday,
- 34:07Speaker 1: all off season long, one to three Eastern back in
- 34:11Speaker 1: a minute for the online crowd, the YouTube crowd talk
- 34:14Speaker 1: about the Blue Jays. Missus, we are back and let's
- 34:20Speaker 1: cover the Blue Jays side of the story. Aj I
- 34:22Speaker 1: want to go right to you first on ikf not
- 34:27Speaker 1: scoring on a fielder's choice that gets him just in time,
- 34:32Speaker 1: because Will Smith initially had his foot off of home
- 34:35Speaker 1: plate and then got it down just in time. There
- 34:38Speaker 1: are many people, many Blue Jays fans, very upset. Apparently
- 34:42Speaker 1: he's gotten many threats. That always sucks. We don't condone
- 34:44Speaker 1: that at all.
- 34:45Speaker 4: Don't do that ever. People, No, but he.
- 34:48Speaker 1: Kind of said that this was justified because the team
- 34:51Speaker 1: was asking for him to be extra careful in this scenario.
- 34:54Speaker 1: I'll give more on the back end, but I do
- 34:56Speaker 1: want to give your take on when you see where
- 34:59Speaker 1: he's position, which we're showing right now, and that small
- 35:02Speaker 1: lead and the lack of a secondary is that not
- 35:06Speaker 1: the difference between them winning this game?
- 35:09Speaker 2: Well, I thought he should have been a little bit
- 35:10Speaker 2: farther off. I mean, first of all, the fact that
- 35:14Speaker 2: Nigi Rojas headed back up and backhand this ball.
- 35:17Speaker 4: Normally, I mean, you're normally.
- 35:18Speaker 2: Safe on that if you have a good lead and
- 35:20Speaker 2: if you're going on contact, okay, like he was, because
- 35:22Speaker 2: he bases were loaded. You're gonna take a step on
- 35:25Speaker 2: a line drive, no matter what. Everyone says, Freeze, everyone
- 35:28Speaker 2: takes a step, Okay, no matter what. Because the ball's hit,
- 35:31Speaker 2: you're going on contact, going, you take the step, and
- 35:33Speaker 2: if it's right at an infielder, you're gonna be out anyways.
- 35:36Speaker 2: So you gotta just live with that. If you're the
- 35:38Speaker 2: team now, he should have been farther off. But I
- 35:40Speaker 2: want to talk about what the Tigers have done and
- 35:43Speaker 2: the Rays do this also, Gary Varshow Dalton var Show
- 35:46Speaker 2: is a left handed hitter. Okay, the Rays and the Tigers,
- 35:49Speaker 2: they always say if you're a runner on third being
- 35:51Speaker 2: foul territory.
- 35:52Speaker 4: They have now moved their runner into fair territory for
- 35:55Speaker 4: two reasons. One, it eliminates the pickoff throw. And IKV says,
- 35:59Speaker 4: I didn't want to get picked off by Will Smith.
- 36:01Speaker 4: I can almost promise you in this situation Kratz ninety
- 36:04Speaker 4: nine point nine percent, Will Smith ain't gonna try and
- 36:07Speaker 4: pick you off here no matter what, because he ain't
- 36:09Speaker 4: taking the.
- 36:09Speaker 2: Chance of throwing it away and losing the World Series.
- 36:12Speaker 2: I can't see it happening right there, Okay. And then
- 36:15Speaker 2: the second thing is if you move into the field
- 36:17Speaker 2: of play. It then forces the third baseman to move
- 36:19Speaker 2: more and you can get off farther because the third
- 36:22Speaker 2: basement is farther off the bag. So I like this
- 36:24Speaker 2: move when it happened, and the first time I saw it,
- 36:27Speaker 2: I said something about on the Aaron Fox. I got
- 36:29Speaker 2: a call from Joey Korra, the third base coach, and
- 36:31Speaker 2: during the postseason, I got called in aj Hinch's office
- 36:34Speaker 2: and he drew me a picture on a piece of
- 36:36Speaker 2: paper explaining why they do this. So I was kind
- 36:39Speaker 2: of like, what are you doing? And the chances of
- 36:41Speaker 2: a left handed hitter, especially of our show, hitting a
- 36:44Speaker 2: foul ball down the third base line, right down the
- 36:47Speaker 2: line at one a you can't get in the way
- 36:49Speaker 2: of or two that hits the runner in fair territory
- 36:51Speaker 2: are so miniscule that the positives outright of the negatives.
- 36:54Speaker 2: So I listen, was it bad base running?
- 36:58Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 36:58Speaker 2: Could you gotten a bigger lead?
- 37:00Speaker 3: Yes?
- 37:00Speaker 2: Should he've had a bigger secondary, That's what I have
- 37:02Speaker 2: a problem with. His secondary wasn't good enough. But there's
- 37:04Speaker 2: also a new play that you'll see happening more and
- 37:06Speaker 2: more where the runner on third actually goes into fair
- 37:09Speaker 2: territory and pushes the third basement away and eliminates the pickoff.
- 37:14Speaker 4: I'm not going to rehash what aj said because I
- 37:16Speaker 4: think I one hundred percent agree with him. The secondary
- 37:20Speaker 4: should have been better. To me, you can't slide there.
- 37:24Speaker 4: That's the one thing aj didn't hit on. You cannot
- 37:27Speaker 4: slide there. The reason to slide into any base is
- 37:31Speaker 4: to slow down to stay on the base. IKF can
- 37:35Speaker 4: sprinter lunge, just like you would never in that situation
- 37:40Speaker 4: slide going into first base. You would you would run
- 37:43Speaker 4: straight through that base. Does he beat it? If he
- 37:47Speaker 4: runs straight through the base. That's the only point that
- 37:50Speaker 4: I think Ajed didn't bring up, and the point that
- 37:52Speaker 4: I would contest, because you can always argue if does
- 37:55Speaker 4: he need to be farther? Does he need to not
- 37:57Speaker 4: be farther off of that base? Going on contact? I
- 38:01Speaker 4: don't necessarily think you're going on contact in that situation.
- 38:05Speaker 4: It's one out, You're you're to me, you're more reading
- 38:09Speaker 4: it infields in because if that's not if Mickey Road
- 38:13Speaker 4: doesn't stumble on that, let's say it is a line drive.
- 38:17Speaker 4: To me, it's not all contact, it's all you're reading
- 38:20Speaker 4: the ball down and you're going you're not. You can't
- 38:23Speaker 4: get doubled up on an on a line drive to
- 38:26Speaker 4: end the World Series in that situation, I agree, But
- 38:30Speaker 4: he can't slide going into home. That's that's my only argument.
- 38:33Speaker 4: I think too many guys in general, all one hundred
- 38:36Speaker 4: and sixty two games, all thirty teams, slide into home
- 38:39Speaker 4: too many times because you know, we're taught no contact
- 38:43Speaker 4: at home, which I think is a little is a
- 38:46Speaker 4: little misleading, and I think everybody just slides.
- 38:49Speaker 2: Also, let me ask you this question. The night before
- 38:52Speaker 2: Barger Barger, Barger Barger got too big of a lead,
- 38:57Speaker 2: it was too aggressive. How much do you think that
- 38:58Speaker 2: played into the next game. They're like, we can't have
- 39:01Speaker 2: another guy doubled up. Like to me, in that situation,
- 39:04Speaker 2: you get over aggressive because if he hits a line
- 39:06Speaker 2: drive right at somebody and they catch it, I mean,
- 39:09Speaker 2: I'm sorry, tip your cap, you're more than what even
- 39:11Speaker 2: if you're that close to the base, If it's a
- 39:12Speaker 2: line drive, let's say, right to the second baseman, Miguel
- 39:15Speaker 2: Rojas picks and clicks it and throws right to Max Muncie.
- 39:18Speaker 2: If you're five feet six feet off the base, because
- 39:20Speaker 2: you're gonna take that one step, you're gonna be doubled
- 39:23Speaker 2: off anyways, right, But the one of Barger with Barger
- 39:26Speaker 2: went too far. That was a that was the first
- 39:28Speaker 2: of all. Great play by Miguel Rojas again, but you
- 39:31Speaker 2: know he was maybe a little too aggressive. So the
- 39:33Speaker 2: next night they're like, oh, hey, let's be careful on
- 39:35Speaker 2: the bases instead of being like, let's try to win
- 39:37Speaker 2: the game.
- 39:39Speaker 4: And I agree, those shouldn't have slitped you should have
- 39:41Speaker 4: ran right through it. Those those plays are stuff you
- 39:44Speaker 4: talk about in spring training and teams will continue to
- 39:47Speaker 4: talk about the teams that that care. And I'm not
- 39:49Speaker 4: saying the Jays didn't care or they didn't talk about this,
- 39:52Speaker 4: but you just continue to talk about it. And baseball
- 39:56Speaker 4: is a lot of it. When you play at this level,
- 39:57Speaker 4: Baseball is a lot about timing, and you already see
- 40:00Speaker 4: where something should be. The play in Game six with
- 40:04Speaker 4: Kyk Kyk catching it and getting rid of it all
- 40:08Speaker 4: in one move without taking two extra steps is what
- 40:11Speaker 4: got Barger. The ridiculous pick by Miguel Rojas is what
- 40:15Speaker 4: got Barger. Timing wise, Barger probably was gonna be safe
- 40:20Speaker 4: if a normal left fielder was out there. But you
- 40:23Speaker 4: have a guy who's played third base for the World
- 40:27Speaker 4: Series champion Dodgers, he's played shortstop, so you sit there
- 40:31Speaker 4: and you go. The timing was a little off on that,
- 40:34Speaker 4: the timing for the play for IKF. Everybody as soon
- 40:39Speaker 4: as it took that long, everybody's like, that's game. The
- 40:43Speaker 4: timing should be where he scores on that and he's
- 40:47Speaker 4: safe and it didn't happen.
- 40:51Speaker 1: I want to read this from a content producer named
- 40:55Speaker 1: Chris Black. He said, always respect the opinions of players,
- 40:58Speaker 1: former and current. Disagree with the logic. Here, Dalton var
- 41:03Speaker 1: Show nearly twenty five hundred career played appearances, sixteen hundred
- 41:06Speaker 1: and thirty four bad at balls, three hundred and forty
- 41:08Speaker 1: two line drives fifty eight to the opposite field, four
- 41:11Speaker 1: to three base, three of them jam shots, one true
- 41:16Speaker 1: line out to third base. When we say attention to detail,
- 41:19Speaker 1: this is what the hard workers behind the scenes put
- 41:22Speaker 1: together for these moments. He said. If the logic logic
- 41:25Speaker 1: is protect against getting doubled up, they were protecting against
- 41:28Speaker 1: something that had at best a zero point one percent
- 41:32Speaker 1: chance of happening. He said, bar Show has hit one
- 41:35Speaker 1: hundred and twelve round balls to first base to sega base,
- 41:39Speaker 1: shorts up whatever, right one versus four hundred twelve. So
- 41:44Speaker 1: he's trying to point out also how he did the
- 41:48Speaker 1: research and he posted about this. It was really good
- 41:52Speaker 1: if this is how all teams teach it. And this
- 41:54Speaker 1: is a reply that he had to both Ikf's explanation
- 41:57Speaker 1: about the team telling him this, and then with Merrifield,
- 41:59Speaker 1: our buddy, one of our FT hosts, Chris said, if
- 42:02Speaker 1: that were the case, we would see in similar situations,
- 42:07Speaker 1: similar lead distances. But when he looked at similar fielders'
- 42:10Speaker 1: choices ninth inning or later, tie basis loaded. So everyone
- 42:13Speaker 1: out ICAF was the only guy whose secondary lead was
- 42:16Speaker 1: under ten feet, the only one. So, like you said,
- 42:19Speaker 1: aj a play maybe the day before. Also a special
- 42:26Speaker 1: player might have made him scarer than anyone ever in
- 42:31Speaker 1: that situation.
- 42:33Speaker 4: As a player, you have to also risk first reward.
- 42:37Speaker 2: Okay, And here's the thing, you have a chance to
- 42:39Speaker 2: win the World Series, Okay, your only thought again as
- 42:42Speaker 2: a base runner, and I wasn't fast, but I felt
- 42:44Speaker 2: like I was a pretty decent bas runner because I
- 42:46Speaker 2: would think about situations and trying to think ahead and
- 42:48Speaker 2: think about what's going to happen. You can't be scared
- 42:50Speaker 2: to make a mistake being over aggressive. And I felt
- 42:53Speaker 2: like they were too worried about a play that again,
- 42:56Speaker 2: if he hits the line drive right at somebody, you
- 42:59Speaker 2: could be this far off the base, Okay, two to
- 43:01Speaker 2: three feet. You take that one step and you're gonna
- 43:04Speaker 2: be out anyways. Okay, So don't worry about that. If
- 43:07Speaker 2: he hits the ball that hard, did you just it
- 43:09Speaker 2: was bad luck.
- 43:10Speaker 4: But if he's two to three feet farther down the
- 43:12Speaker 4: line like he should have been, then he's safe. And
- 43:14Speaker 4: I agree with Witt. He's doing what he's supposed to
- 43:17Speaker 4: be doing. I think he could have had a little
- 43:20Speaker 4: better secondary. That's the thing that probably eats at me
- 43:22Speaker 4: more than anything, is like he didn't have a good
- 43:24Speaker 4: enough secondary. If you're going on a ball on the ground,
- 43:27Speaker 4: like you have to boom, be on your right foot
- 43:29Speaker 4: when the ball hits the ground and go right away.
- 43:31Speaker 4: There also was a slight pause before he went because
- 43:33Speaker 4: he's so worried about getting doubled up.
- 43:35Speaker 2: If I can't you can never be worried about getting doubled.
- 43:38Speaker 4: Up on the basis it is so like, well, we
- 43:42Speaker 4: go over this, we go over this up here in
- 43:45Speaker 4: the north with high school kids that have never played
- 43:47Speaker 4: baseball before. Like, it's the small basic things, and only
- 43:52Speaker 4: ikf knows his intent and his fear in that moment
- 43:57Speaker 4: of being doubled up. It's you can't run the bases.
- 44:03Speaker 4: You can't run the bases with fear or uncertainty, and
- 44:08Speaker 4: it's just it's one of those things. There's so many
- 44:10Speaker 4: still shots that what Aj was saying was he needs
- 44:14Speaker 4: a land on his right foot and be the exact
- 44:17Speaker 4: same distance as Max Munsey is from third base. That's
- 44:22Speaker 4: to me, that's the minimum. That's being completely down the middle.
- 44:27Speaker 4: You could probably be farther than the third basement, but
- 44:29Speaker 4: you have to be the same distance because the third
- 44:32Speaker 4: basement isn't going towards home. He's going to try to
- 44:35Speaker 4: go to catch the ball, and so he could have
- 44:38Speaker 4: a little bit of advantage getting back if it's a
- 44:40Speaker 4: once once in a season type of swing.
- 44:45Speaker 1: Yep, and hey, he's not going to pick.
- 44:48Speaker 2: I agree with everything Mike, Mike Petriella said right there.
- 44:51Speaker 2: He is not going to pick in that situation. I've
- 44:53Speaker 2: been in these situations. I've been in game winning series,
- 44:57Speaker 2: losingitu winning losing situations. The last thing on my head
- 45:00Speaker 2: as a catcher is I am not going to throw
- 45:02Speaker 2: this ball because I don't want it to go get
- 45:04Speaker 2: thrown away. I'm sorry, but he is Will Smith doesn't
- 45:07Speaker 2: pick a lot anyways. He is not a yachti moline.
- 45:10Speaker 2: He's not a Contreras they like to throw all the time.
- 45:14Speaker 2: He is just going to catch the ball and try
- 45:16Speaker 2: to keep it in front of him and hope the
- 45:17Speaker 2: defense makes a play. So that should have been the
- 45:19Speaker 2: last thing. And then I don't know as a as
- 45:22Speaker 2: a left I was a left handed hitter that sprayed
- 45:23Speaker 2: the ball over. I can't think of five times in
- 45:26Speaker 2: my career, and I had a lot of at bats
- 45:28Speaker 2: where I hit a line drive right to the third
- 45:29Speaker 2: basement right like, I mean, if that happened and then
- 45:32Speaker 2: you get doubled up on that, you know what again,
- 45:35Speaker 2: it just you weren't meant to win.
- 45:37Speaker 4: Andre Semenez hit the line drive when he did, he
- 45:40Speaker 4: did the he he butcher what's it called butcher boy playing,
- 45:44Speaker 4: you know, and then he hit the line drive, So
- 45:47Speaker 4: maybe he thought, oh yeah, well all lefties who knows
- 45:51Speaker 4: what I KF was thinking? A pick from home a
- 45:53Speaker 4: pick from the catcher. No. And some people said to me,
- 45:57Speaker 4: they were like, well, what if the what if he
- 45:58Speaker 4: gets a bigger lead and the pitcher picks them off.
- 46:01Speaker 2: Nope, not happening either.
- 46:03Speaker 4: Show me the video of a big league picture picking
- 46:07Speaker 4: somebody off at third base.
- 46:08Speaker 2: It's not happening, not in that situation for sure.
- 46:12Speaker 1: No.
- 46:13Speaker 4: And also, by the way, for all the people that
- 46:15Speaker 4: have harassed people online, stop, okay, stop harassing people. I
- 46:19Speaker 4: can't do what he thought it was right. He did
- 46:21Speaker 4: the best he could.
- 46:22Speaker 3: That's it. Stop.
- 46:22Speaker 4: Please.
- 46:23Speaker 2: We don't need that in any sport, not just baseball.
- 46:25Speaker 2: Stop harassing people saying I read Ray kiffs and people
- 46:28Speaker 2: are texting and I hope he breaks his legs.
- 46:30Speaker 4: Stop. Okay, stop please stop?
- 46:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:33Speaker 1: And also runners in scoring position left on base sucks
- 46:37Speaker 1: for Jeff Hoffen. He had a great postseason up until
- 46:39Speaker 1: that one point. Gives up the homer on the home
- 46:42Speaker 1: slider to Miguel Rojas, and eight thousand other reasons why
- 46:45Speaker 1: the Blue Jays were about as close as can be
- 46:48Speaker 1: to winning a World Series title, but it didn't happen.
- 46:51Speaker 1: So that was one that's been very controversial talked about
- 46:54Speaker 1: a lot wanted to go over it. Great analysis, and
