- 0:02Speaker 1: Is this a sponsored piece? Yes.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Cabin Fever, locally owned and operated since 1982, located in
- 0:07Speaker 2: the heart of Trolley Square. It's Cabin Fever, so much
- 0:10Speaker 2: more than a card store.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Great show. Halloween coming up. They got a lot of
- 0:16Speaker 1: Halloween stuff.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:17Speaker 1: All right. Well, let's take a look at what we
- 0:24Speaker 1: got here. Resident Evil. Resident Evil.
- 0:29Speaker 2: At New Movie.
- 0:31Speaker 1: New Movie. Yeah, getting pretty good reviews. It's getting great reviews,
- 0:34Speaker 1: and it is already a record breaker. Oh, it's Krieger. Yeah,
- 0:38Speaker 1: Zach Kreger. Yeah. According to Variety, Zach Kreger's latest movie
- 0:43Speaker 1: has made $ 103. 8 million, with $ 60 million of it from
- 0:48Speaker 1: North America, along with being way above projections. The domestic
- 0:54Speaker 1: milestone makes for the highest grossing start to these films.
- 0:57Speaker 1: live-action movies, a record previously held by Resident Evil Afterlife
- 1:01Speaker 1: in 2010. It opened to $ 26 million. And that's not all.
- 1:06Speaker 1: This has now beaten his other movie, Weapons. Oh, it
- 1:12Speaker 1: has already? Yeah, as the biggest domestic opening in Kreger's career.
- 1:17Speaker 1: That's kind of surprising, too. Yeah. Prior Resident Evil movies
- 1:21Speaker 1: weren't anything to write home about critically. But this new
- 1:25Speaker 1: one has gotten some great reviews.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Actually, the weapons one makes sense because I think that
- 1:29Speaker 2: was a word-of-mouth thing.
- 1:30Speaker 1: It was. So it wasn't opening weekend. The word-of-mouth is
- 1:34Speaker 1: similarly influenced audiences who've been hit with a solid burst
- 1:38Speaker 1: of marketing over the summer from the director of Barbarian
- 1:42Speaker 1: and Weapons. Yeah, there you go. It's a pretty good
- 1:44Speaker 1: incentive to go see a new horror movie. It doesn't
- 1:47Speaker 1: hurt that it's also a franchise. It's a known quantity.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Resident Evil had a pretty good run. of games between
- 1:53Speaker 1: remakes of the new installment. But, yeah, it's doing well.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Next up for Zach is the sci-fi horror flick The Flood,
- 2:04Speaker 1: co-writing a weapons prequel as well, and a movie called
- 2:09Speaker 1: Siren Head. Did you say a weapons prequel?
- 2:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:15Speaker 1: You want to learn more about Aunt Gladys' backstory?
- 2:19Speaker 2: Oh, boy.
- 2:20Speaker 1: He's been working on that. So, yeah, it's doing extremely well.
- 2:25Speaker 1: I know that Derek and Rebecca, when I talked to
- 2:27Speaker 1: them on Saturday, they couldn't stop going on about how
- 2:31Speaker 1: good it was. And here's another one. Mandalorian and Grogu
- 2:38Speaker 1: just debuted on streaming here about a week ago. How
- 2:42Speaker 1: did it do? Well, September 2nd is when it arrived,
- 2:46Speaker 1: and according to Nielsen, It was viewed for about 727
- 2:50Speaker 1: million minutes during its first week, which was good enough
- 2:53Speaker 1: for second place among all movies on streaming.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Oh.
- 2:58Speaker 1: It only lost to The Whisper Man with Robert De
- 3:00Speaker 1: Niro and Adam Scott. You have to give that one,
- 3:06Speaker 1: you know, a leg up because it's on Netflix, and
- 3:09Speaker 1: Netflix has twice as many subscribers as Disney +. So,
- 3:13Speaker 1: I mean, Mandalorian and Grogu, it's... It's a win, regardless
- 3:20Speaker 1: of what you may have thought. It's a win. World
- 3:24Speaker 1: War Z. Love that movie.
- 3:28Speaker 2: 2013.
- 3:28Speaker 1: I liked it, too, and I was surprised that I
- 3:30Speaker 1: did because it was two separate movies almost.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Well, it was because they switched director in the middle.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Of the movie. But, you know, people have been wondering
- 3:41Speaker 1: if we're going to get a sequel or not. Well, yeah.
- 3:44Speaker 2: Oh, good.
- 3:45Speaker 1: I really liked it. They finally decided they're going to
- 3:47Speaker 1: do a sequel to World War Z. Pitt is going
- 3:52Speaker 1: to return to the feature. Also has Edward Berger, who
- 3:56Speaker 1: is a German filmmaker behind All Quiet on the Western
- 3:59Speaker 1: Front and Conclave on board to direct. Those were both
- 4:03Speaker 1: excellent movies. I saw both.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Yes.
- 4:06Speaker 1: Dennis Kelly, who won a Tony for writing the book
- 4:08Speaker 1: for Matilda the Musical, has created several British thriller series.
- 4:12Speaker 1: He wrote the script. And the movie is being directed
- 4:15Speaker 1: by Mark Forster. Now, the reason that I think Brad
- 4:19Speaker 1: Pitt is doing this with this guy, because Mark Forster
- 4:23Speaker 1: directed the movie that is currently in post-production, and they
- 4:28Speaker 1: got along.
- 4:30Speaker 2: They want to work together again.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Yeah, Forster said, I'd like to do a sequel to
- 4:34Speaker 1: World War Z, and Brad Pitt finally said, well, okay, yeah,
- 4:37Speaker 1: we could do that.
- 4:38Speaker 2: One of my favorite zombie movies.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Speaking of video game adaptations to live action, Jason Momoa
- 4:47Speaker 1: was previously attached to star in the Helldivers video game adaptation.
- 4:53Speaker 1: But do some creative differences. Who knows what that means
- 4:59Speaker 1: at all. Alan Richson is going to be stepping in.
- 5:06Speaker 1: For Jason Momoa. Yeah, creative differences. Nobody's saying what that
- 5:10Speaker 1: was all about, but anyway. Yeah, they're making a movie
- 5:15Speaker 1: about that video game. And finally this. Yes, you think
- 5:20Speaker 1: that you've seen the strangest popcorn buckets ever.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:25Speaker 1: But this one. What?
- 5:28Speaker 2: It can't be worse than Dune, is it?
- 5:30Speaker 1: You wear it on your head. So whoever sits behind
- 5:34Speaker 1: you gets to eat the popcorn off their head?
- 5:35Speaker 2: I guess so.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Street Fighter has the dumbest slash best popcorn bucket ever.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Cody Rhodes, who's a wrestler, he revealed the AMC-exclusive popcorn
- 5:47Speaker 1: bucket for the film. The character he's playing is Guile,
- 5:51Speaker 1: and Guile has hair that stands up straight.
- 5:54Speaker 2: I see.
- 5:55Speaker 1: And so they made the popcorn bucket to look like
- 5:58Speaker 1: Guile's hair. So you have to reach up to your head? Yeah,
- 6:02Speaker 1: that's the thing. It's got a strap on the bottom.
- 6:05Speaker 1: A chin strap, yeah. You're supposed to wear it on
- 6:07Speaker 1: your head.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Will people do that?
- 6:12Speaker 1: I think it's for the people behind you. That's the
- 6:14Speaker 1: only way. I was going to say, do you ask
- 6:16Speaker 1: the person sitting in front of you, could you put
- 6:18Speaker 1: this on your head? Yeah, there you go. That's what
- 6:21Speaker 1: I would do. But kidding aside, the popcorn bucket is
- 6:26Speaker 1: kind of perfect, and it tells us that the team
- 6:28Speaker 1: behind Street Fighter gets it. It's not serious. All right,
- 6:34Speaker 1: the Street Fighter movies and games, they're not serious. Have
- 6:37Speaker 1: a sense of humor. Have a little fun. Yeah, don't
- 6:40Speaker 1: get your panties in a bunch. The movie opens October 16th,
- 6:45Speaker 1: and tickets are on sale, oh, today. So there you go.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Get yourself a popcorn bucket to wear on your head.
- 6:55Speaker 1: The Resident Evil one is a body specimen bag, body
- 6:59Speaker 1: parts specimen bag. Oh, that's okay.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
