- 0:12Hello friends. It is shown here and it is great
- 0:16to have your company. I hope you're doing well on this
- 0:19Monday. The 15th of May me, thanks for
- 0:25asking. I'm going really well, really
- 0:27well, life is good and we are In the thick of its.
- 0:31If you remember the readings from last week, we have a just
- 0:35been through the trauma of all of those plagues.
- 0:39And now God's people have left Egypt and adjust walking into
- 0:44the desert. And things are about to get very
- 0:47interesting for them. In the desert, as we see, all
- 0:50sorts of things having to detour around enemies deal with an
- 0:54army, chasing them, and then work out.
- 0:56What on Earth are they going to do not to die in the Middle of
- 1:00the desert. Where do they get their food?
- 1:02So this week we have got so much so much to cover as we see how
- 1:06God accompanies his people out of bondage toward all that.
- 1:11He's promised them. So without any further delay,
- 1:15join me friends, as we continue the story reading together,
- 1:18Exodus chapter 13, Then the Lord said to Moses
- 1:34dedicate to me every firstborn among the Israelites.
- 1:38The first Offspring to be born of both humans and animals
- 1:42belongs to me. So Moses said to the people,
- 1:46this is a day to remember forever.
- 1:48The day you left Egypt, a place of your Slavery today, the Lord
- 1:54has brought you out by the power of his mighty hand.
- 1:58Remember, eat? No food.
- 1:59Containing yeast on this day, in early spring, in the month of
- 2:05abib, you have been set free. You must celebrate this event in
- 2:11this month each year, after the Lord brings you into the land of
- 2:15the Canaanites, Hittites amorites, hivites, and
- 2:18jebusites. He swore to your ancestors, that
- 2:22he would give you this land, a land flowing with milk and
- 2:25honey. For seven days, the bread you
- 2:28eat must be made without yeast. Then on the seventh day,
- 2:33celebrate a feast to the Lord eat bread without yeast during
- 2:37those seven days. In fact, there must be no yeast
- 2:41bread or any yeast at all, found within the borders of your land.
- 2:45During this time, On the seventh day, you must explain to your
- 2:50children. I'm celebrating what the Lord
- 2:53did for me. When I left Egypt, this Annual
- 2:56Festival will be a visible sign to you, like a mark branded on
- 3:01your hand or your forehead. Let it remind you always to
- 3:05recite this teaching of the Lord, with a strong hand, the
- 3:09Lord rescued, you from Egypt. So observe the decree of this
- 3:14festival at the appointed time each year.
- 3:17This is what you must do, when the Lord fulfills the promise,
- 3:21he swore to you and your ancestors.
- 3:24When he gives you the land where the Canaanites now live.
- 3:27You must present all firstborn sons and firstborn male animals
- 3:32to the Lord for they belong to him.
- 3:35The firstborn donkey may be brought back from the Lord by
- 3:38presenting a lamb or young goat in its place.
- 3:42But if you do not buy it back you must break its neck.
- 3:46However you must By back every firstborn son and in the future
- 3:52your children will ask you, what does all this mean?
- 3:55Then you will tell them with the power of his mighty hand.
- 3:59The Lord brought us out of Egypt, the place of our slavery.
- 4:05Pharaoh stubbornly, refuse to let us go.
- 4:08So the Lord killed all the firstborn males throughout the
- 4:11land of Egypt, both people and animals.
- 4:14That is why I now sacrifice all the firstborn born males to the
- 4:18Lord, except that, the firstborn sons are always bought back, the
- 4:23ceremony will be like a mark branded on your hand or your
- 4:26forehead. It is a reminder that the power
- 4:30of the Lord's Mighty hand brought us out of Egypt.
- 4:36When Pharaoh finally, let the people go, God, did not lead
- 4:40them through the main road that runs through Philistine
- 4:42territory, even though that was the shortest route to the
- 4:45promised land. God said, if the people are
- 4:49faced with a battle, they might change their minds and return to
- 4:53Egypt. So God, LED them in a roundabout
- 4:57way through. The Wilderness toward the Red
- 4:59Sea. Thus, the Israelites left Egypt,
- 5:03like an army. Ready for battle.
- 5:07Moses took the bones of Joseph with him.
- 5:09For Joseph had made the sons of Israel swear to do this.
- 5:13He said, God will certainly come to help you when he does.
- 5:19You must take my bones with you from this place.
- 5:24The Israelites left succoth, and camped, at Ethan, on the edge of
- 5:28the Wilderness. The Lord went ahead of them, he
- 5:31guided them during the day with a pillar of cloud and he
- 5:35provided light at night, with a pillar of fire, this allowed
- 5:39them to travel by day, or by night and the Lord did not
- 5:43remove the pillar of cloud or Pillar of Fire from its place in
- 5:47front of the people. I Lord that we would have a
- 6:01pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of Fire by Night leading
- 6:06us exactly where you want us to go.
- 6:09Thank you for this beautiful image of.
- 6:11You leading your people through this unknown territory in this
- 6:17dangerous time was so much at stake.
- 6:20There you are with your people. And here you are with me with
- 6:24each one of us each day. Taking each step of our days
- 6:30with us so that we are never alone.
- 6:34We are never forsaken, we never have to face the challenges of
- 6:37the day without you our divine companion and help ever-present
- 6:43in times of trouble, So Jesus we remember that you're here with
- 6:50us now we remember that the father guides us.
- 6:55That your Holy Spirit. Empowers us and that you have
- 6:58saved us. And we are so grateful.
- 7:02We love you and we worship you all this.
- 7:06We pray in your name, Jesus. Amen.
