- 0:59Speaker 5: he was not very silly not being a jerk.
- 1:02Speaker 4: Uh bugues went full uh full costume style wearing his
- 1:06Speaker 4: pumpkin little snoopy pumpkin.
- 1:08Speaker 5: Shirt I like it a lot. Woodstock is a ghost
- 1:12Speaker 5: down here. It's hard to see.
- 1:13Speaker 4: Oh, is that what's going on down there?
- 1:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I think he's got the sheet with the eyes
- 1:17Speaker 5: cut out. That's cute.
- 1:19Speaker 3: He's going above and beyond today. I am wearing a
- 1:23Speaker 3: local record shop shirt.
- 1:25Speaker 5: And a beautiful face.
- 1:28Speaker 3: What's that?
- 1:31Speaker 5: Well, Rob, I'm the trick and you're the treat.
- 1:33Speaker 4: This is just how this works.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Come on.
- 1:37Speaker 3: It has been so long since.
- 1:38Speaker 4: We have chatted. How are you? This is probably the
- 1:42Speaker 4: longest we've gone without speaking in years, I would think. God, probably, right?
- 1:47Speaker 5: I almost called you a couple times, and then I
- 1:48Speaker 5: was like, ah, Europe, I don't know, time change. I
- 1:53Speaker 5: better not.
- 1:54Speaker 4: You did send me that fun gif of Dave Koechner
- 1:58Speaker 4: and Anchorman.
- 1:58Speaker 3: I was like, I miss your musk. I miss your musk.
- 2:02Speaker 5: That was me being like it has been a long
- 2:04Speaker 5: time since i've been it.
- 2:05Speaker 4: Was a long time and it was i think our
- 2:08Speaker 4: last show it was in when i because i was
- 2:11Speaker 4: warming up before our vienna show oh nice right on
- 2:14Speaker 4: um which ended up being like one of the most
- 2:17Speaker 4: fun shows of the whole tour it was so cool
- 2:20Speaker 4: that's fun but yeah i was gone for three weeks
- 2:23Speaker 4: in europe crazy um bunch of fun shows uh.
- 2:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I had a lot of amazing food.
- 2:31Speaker 4: Hell yeah, dude. Kelsey came out for a week. That
- 2:34Speaker 4: was awesome. My sister came out for a few days,
- 2:37Speaker 4: which was also awesome.
- 2:39Speaker 5: Incredible.
- 2:40Speaker 4: We did. We had a really good time. We got
- 2:41Speaker 4: to spend two days off in Stockholm, which we never
- 2:45Speaker 4: get two full days off. That was really fun. Yeah,
- 2:51Speaker 4: just touring. doing the stuff but uh you were off
- 2:55Speaker 4: the grid there for a little while too weren't you
- 2:57Speaker 4: yeah part.
- 2:57Speaker 5: Of the reason we didn't talk i was i went
- 2:59Speaker 5: camping for about i don't know was it five days
- 3:01Speaker 5: or something like that we did the voyager national park
- 3:05Speaker 5: thing up in northern minnesota and it was lovely we
- 3:09Speaker 5: lucked out with the weather again it got a little
- 3:12Speaker 5: cold one night but otherwise very nice for because it
- 3:15Speaker 5: was like the second week of october so it could
- 3:18Speaker 5: get chilly sure Uh, boy, yeah, dude, we just hung out,
- 3:23Speaker 5: ate food. It was great. That's awesome. Played some cards.
- 3:27Speaker 5: It's great.
- 3:28Speaker 4: What's the body of water up there? Oh, is it
- 3:33Speaker 4: Lake Vermillion up there?
- 3:35Speaker 5: No, I always get it confused.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Sorry.
- 3:39Speaker 4: Nope.
- 3:39Speaker 5: You're good. It'll take. I wish I wouldn't have. Cabotogama
- 3:43Speaker 5: is in.
- 3:44Speaker 4: Oh yeah.
- 3:44Speaker 5: Grand Rapids, right? Close.
- 3:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:48Speaker 5: Cabotogama is the right one. See, this is because my
- 3:52Speaker 5: brother lives next to Pekagama, and I always get those
- 3:56Speaker 5: two mixed up in my brain.
- 3:57Speaker 4: And that one's in Grand Rapids, right?
- 3:58Speaker 5: That one's in Grand Rapids, yes. So Kabatogama is the.
- 4:02Speaker 4: That was the lake, one of the lakes that we
- 4:04Speaker 4: went to on our 2020 RV excursion.
- 4:10Speaker 5: Beautiful up there, dude. Big lake, dude. Huge lake, and
- 4:14Speaker 5: we go more towards the border. We actually look at
- 4:18Speaker 5: Canada from the campsite that we... Go to, and I
- 4:21Speaker 5: assume we'll just keep going to because it's perfect.
- 4:24Speaker 4: That's awesome.
- 4:25Speaker 5: Looking straight east, so your sunrises are just.
- 4:28Speaker 4: beautiful beautiful now you get you still get cell service
- 4:33Speaker 4: there right or no you're not.
- 4:34Speaker 5: No we don't get cell service we do get i
- 4:36Speaker 5: did uh we did listen to the vikings game again
- 4:39Speaker 5: i saw that yeah so we get you put together
- 4:43Speaker 5: yep we rigged up a little radio and then we
- 4:46Speaker 5: had like a stand with tinfoil to try and suck
- 4:49Speaker 5: in foil involved suck in the the station a little
- 4:52Speaker 5: bit it sounded great honestly once we found our spot
- 4:56Speaker 5: it had to be in one specific spot but then
- 4:59Speaker 5: it sounded pretty great so that's amazing it was pretty
- 5:02Speaker 5: fun it's really kind of fun to lose i like
- 5:05Speaker 5: listening to a game or two a year anyway just
- 5:07Speaker 5: because pa is so good yeah it's just a fun
- 5:10Speaker 5: different experience.
- 5:11Speaker 4: But I was very annoyed with the Vikings in this
- 5:14Speaker 4: fact that they kept doing those 3 o'clock games. Yeah,
- 5:17Speaker 4: that's terrible for you. Which meant that it didn't start
- 5:19Speaker 4: until 10 p.m.
- 5:19Speaker 5: Over where I was.
- 5:20Speaker 4: For real.
- 5:20Speaker 3: And I'm just like, thankfully, they won all those games.
- 5:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:24Speaker 5: Rob's like, what is this, the NBA playoffs?
- 5:27Speaker 4: It was brutal, man.
- 5:29Speaker 5: Yeah, that's too late, dude.
- 5:30Speaker 3: I was staying up late.
- 5:31Speaker 5: Very late.
- 5:32Speaker 4: Very late.
- 5:33Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't know why those two games were at 3.
- 5:35Speaker 5: That's strange to me.
- 5:36Speaker 4: It was a bummer. It was a bummer.
- 5:38Speaker 5: Very odd.
- 5:39Speaker 3: And then I'm home, and there's a bye. yeah so
- 5:42Speaker 3: uh welcome.
- 5:43Speaker 4: Back but uh this coming week uh i get to
- 5:49Speaker 4: go to the game i was wondering if you would
- 5:51Speaker 4: get to go that's fun i'm very excited about.
- 5:54Speaker 5: That i'm super pumped about that because that's uh wolves
- 5:57Speaker 5: home opener.
- 5:58Speaker 4: That evening on that sunday yeah after that so cool
- 6:02Speaker 4: very cool very pumped Who are the Vikings playing?
- 6:08Speaker 3: They're playing the Colts of Indianapolis.
- 6:11Speaker 5: They just fired their GM, so things are going pretty
- 6:13Speaker 5: good over there.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Nice.
- 6:14Speaker 4: Dude, when people, when teams do a big shakeup like that,
- 6:18Speaker 4: then I feel like they come out swinging pretty hard.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Yep.
- 6:22Speaker 3: So I'm going to be cautiously optimistic.
- 6:25Speaker 5: We'll find out. We'll find out. Certainly, what's his name?
- 6:29Speaker 5: Our old defensive player. That's their kicking butt now.
- 6:32Speaker 4: Cam Bynum.
- 6:33Speaker 5: Cam Bynum. Certainly he'll be. He'll be ready to roll,
- 6:36Speaker 5: I bet.
- 6:36Speaker 3: Hopefully no celebrations from him.
- 6:39Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't want to see any dancing out of him.
- 6:42Speaker 4: Yeah, but he was fun when he was with us.
- 6:44Speaker 5: I do love him. He's great.
- 6:45Speaker 4: He's a good dude. He's so smiley.
- 6:47Speaker 5: Yeah, he really is.
- 6:49Speaker 4: Such a nice guy such a nice guy um but
- 6:52Speaker 4: this is our halloween episode uh do you have any
- 6:55Speaker 4: fun plans for halloween this year.
- 6:57Speaker 5: I'm gonna go back and hang out with brando and
- 6:59Speaker 5: uh and uh brin and hand out candy and you know.
- 7:03Speaker 4: He's the king of halloween man he.
- 7:06Speaker 5: Goes so crazy for it i'm just like yeah so
- 7:08Speaker 5: that's my current plan is to go hang out and
- 7:10Speaker 5: do that Beautiful. Which should be fun. How about you guys?
- 7:14Speaker 5: What are you doing? Are you here?
- 7:15Speaker 3: I think we'll treat and trick.
- 7:17Speaker 5: Nice.
- 7:18Speaker 4: Love it.
- 7:18Speaker 5: I love it. Yeah.
- 7:21Speaker 4: I think I might just reuse an old home-free outfit
- 7:25Speaker 4: for a costume. Oh, yeah.
- 7:27Speaker 5: I probably will just wear this, honestly, the pumpkin shirt.
- 7:29Speaker 4: That's great. It's very Halloween-y. Yeah.
- 7:31Speaker 5: Perfect. I already have it. Yeah.
- 7:34Speaker 4: Are you guys going to watch any scary movies?
- 7:37Speaker 5: Oh, there you go.
- 7:40Speaker 1: No.
- 7:40Speaker 5: Probably not.
- 7:42Speaker 4: Well, that's okay. What was the last movie you watched?
- 7:46Speaker 5: We're good at this. So it's not the last movie,
- 7:50Speaker 5: but now I have like quite the catalog to choose from.
- 7:52Speaker 5: So I'm just going to go back in the annals
- 7:55Speaker 5: a little bit.
- 7:56Speaker 4: Go back.
- 7:57Speaker 5: Endgame, Encore. I went and saw that in the theater.
- 8:01Speaker 3: In the theater.
- 8:02Speaker 4: So did they add some time to it?
- 8:04Speaker 5: Yeah, there's like, I think it ended up being... five
- 8:08Speaker 5: or six minutes of extra stuff it's mostly at the
- 8:12Speaker 5: end as a sort of like t up to uh
- 8:15Speaker 5: doomsday and stuff like that that's coming up um that's
- 8:20Speaker 5: good they can make some more money on that yeah
- 8:21Speaker 5: it's great they are now the number one film again
- 8:24Speaker 5: they passed avatar again so that's good they're just having
- 8:27Speaker 5: a nice time honestly though it was really fun to
- 8:30Speaker 5: watch it in the theater with a You know, I'm
- 8:35Speaker 5: such a nerd about that stuff anyway, but that wasn't
- 8:38Speaker 5: ever really in doubt. But man, it was fun. What
- 8:41Speaker 5: a great movie. And wrapping up that whole Infinity Stone,
- 8:46Speaker 5: you know, era. So fun. It was fun. Yeah.
- 8:49Speaker 4: That was a great movie theater experience seeing it the
- 8:51Speaker 4: first time.
- 8:52Speaker 5: Yeah. And it was, you know, not that great again, obviously,
- 8:55Speaker 5: because we like all new and stuff. But it's also
- 8:58Speaker 5: kind of fun to go see a movie like that
- 9:00Speaker 5: that I've seen a number of times now because like
- 9:03Speaker 5: I had to pee at one point and I was like,
- 9:06Speaker 5: I'm good. I know where I've seen this a hundred times,
- 9:11Speaker 5: although I was like, At that point, we didn't know
- 9:13Speaker 5: where the extra minutes were. So I was nervous about that.
- 9:15Speaker 5: But sure. But yeah, it was super, super fun to
- 9:19Speaker 5: rewatch that. And just a great experience. And they and
- 9:23Speaker 5: these movie theaters really have me nailed with like the
- 9:25Speaker 5: it's nostalgia time. It works on me every time. I
- 9:29Speaker 5: feel like I'm just like, yep, I'm in. Let's go.
- 9:31Speaker 5: This sounds great. So, yeah, but I loved it. How
- 9:35Speaker 5: about you? What's the most recent movie you watched?
- 9:40Speaker 3: I've also seen quite a few with my flights and stuff.
- 9:42Speaker 4: This one, I ended up, I don't think I saw
- 9:46Speaker 4: it in Europe. I think it was just before I left,
- 9:49Speaker 4: but thought it was apropos on this episode. It was
- 9:54Speaker 4: spooky scary.
- 9:55Speaker 5: Oh, I didn't even think about that. Nice.
- 9:58Speaker 3: And it was a movie called Backward.
- 10:01Speaker 5: Oh, yeah. I haven't seen this yet.
- 10:04Speaker 4: I saw it.
- 10:05Speaker 3: It's written and directed by a guy named Kane Parsons.
- 10:08Speaker 3: His name is Kane Pixels on YouTube.
- 10:11Speaker 5: And.
- 10:13Speaker 4: Apparently, it has a lot of like the same parallels
- 10:15Speaker 4: to the movie we're going to be talking about, just
- 10:17Speaker 4: in the fact that it's this super young, talented guy
- 10:21Speaker 4: who's made it big on YouTube, was able to get
- 10:24Speaker 4: a big movie made with real actors. He made a
- 10:29Speaker 4: horror film to critical acclaim. He went and got, she
- 10:33Speaker 4: would tell edgy for, and, uh, Renat Reinsfee, which I
- 10:37Speaker 4: can't imagine that I'm saying that correct.
- 10:39Speaker 5: I think you're right. I think you're right.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Um, I'm going to look it up one.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Of these days, but, um, yeah, it's a, it's a
- 10:46Speaker 4: pretty creepy film, uh, about an underground secret world.
- 10:50Speaker 3: That's super weird and scary.
- 10:52Speaker 4: Um, it kind of reminded me of like Blair witchy
- 10:56Speaker 4: in the sense that there were a lot.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Of like POV shots.
- 11:01Speaker 5: Cool.
- 11:01Speaker 4: Um, That were really effective and spooky. However, this one
- 11:07Speaker 4: did not do a ton for me, if I'm honest. Aww.
- 11:11Speaker 3: I hadn't gotten into the backstory stuff that's been online
- 11:14Speaker 3: for the last few years.
- 11:16Speaker 4: It was kind of like a cult internet thing where
- 11:21Speaker 4: people were doing different... You know, they had different ideas
- 11:25Speaker 4: of what these backrooms were, and it was... like a
- 11:29Speaker 4: bunch of like online forums coming up with different ideas
- 11:32Speaker 4: of what the plot could be and all that.
- 11:34Speaker 3: So I wasn't in on that. Maybe if I was,
- 11:36Speaker 3: I would have been more interested.
- 11:38Speaker 4: Um, but yeah, I was, I was sufficiently creeped out.
- 11:43Speaker 4: Like they did a good job with that.
- 11:45Speaker 5: Okay.
- 11:46Speaker 4: Um, but I just, the story didn't do a whole
- 11:49Speaker 4: heck of a lot for me. Um, it's not my fave,
- 11:52Speaker 4: but I definitely appreciate the swing and I'm enjoying original, um,
- 11:57Speaker 4: movies like this yeah i do love that um but
- 12:00Speaker 4: you know this is as you know not really my
- 12:03Speaker 4: genre of choice anyway so um yeah same it's got
- 12:08Speaker 4: to be the story's got i really got to be
- 12:11Speaker 4: into it and i.
- 12:11Speaker 5: Wasn't as into this one i get that.
- 12:14Speaker 3: I get that but people are digging it.
- 12:16Speaker 5: Yeah it had a lot of acclaim which is cool
- 12:18Speaker 5: yeah that's renette reines there reines there apparently okay i
- 12:24Speaker 5: just i was pretty close found a clip of her
- 12:25Speaker 5: saying it and that's what she says Great.
- 12:28Speaker 4: Nice.
- 12:29Speaker 5: Oh, no, she says Renat. Renat. Renat Ryan Sve.
- 12:33Speaker 4: Well, I did say Renat, so I feel good about that.
- 12:36Speaker 5: You nailed it, dude. I.
- 12:41Speaker 3: Renat regret saying it that way.
- 12:45Speaker 4: Oh, man, this is going to be a good one.
- 12:47Speaker 5: It's been a while, guys.
- 12:49Speaker 4: We're still getting back into it.
- 12:50Speaker 5: Give us a break, all right? Just be cool for
- 12:52Speaker 5: a second.
- 12:53Speaker 4: What have you been streaming?
- 12:54Speaker 5: Uh... Well, this isn't streaming, but it's probably close now.
- 12:59Speaker 5: But now I think your idea of saying something that
- 13:02Speaker 5: is that is horror related makes a lot of sense.
- 13:05Speaker 4: So that was the only thing I had.
- 13:06Speaker 5: But yes, I should have said this one, but I
- 13:08Speaker 5: didn't think about that ahead of time. But I went
- 13:10Speaker 5: and saw Resident Evil in the theater as well. And
- 13:14Speaker 5: who directed that while ago?
- 13:15Speaker 4: Somebody big.
- 13:16Speaker 5: Zach Kroeger, the guy who did Weapons. weapons and he's
- 13:21Speaker 5: really wanted to do resident evil apparently for quite some
- 13:24Speaker 5: time so uh i didn't really have a ton of
- 13:27Speaker 5: interest in this movie except that he wrote and directed
- 13:31Speaker 5: it and it was like well like dave and i
- 13:33Speaker 5: were talking we're just like well i mean we loved
- 13:36Speaker 5: weapons so much we kind of have to go see
- 13:38Speaker 5: it right like this is his project and it was
- 13:41Speaker 5: so interesting Really liked this movie. It was really fun.
- 13:45Speaker 5: It's probably not quite weapons quality, you know, but really fun.
- 13:49Speaker 5: I don't know. Did you ever play the Resident Evil
- 13:51Speaker 5: games back in the day?
- 13:52Speaker 4: I did not. I missed that.
- 13:54Speaker 5: Yeah, I watched people play more than played, but they're
- 13:57Speaker 5: kind of fun. And there's a bunch of like video
- 14:00Speaker 5: game stuff in there if you're into that little homages
- 14:02Speaker 5: and things. But man, this movie... really funny similar to
- 14:07Speaker 5: weapons in some spots like there's there's definitely some dark
- 14:10Speaker 5: humor that gets thrown in there this kid uh austin
- 14:15Speaker 5: abrams who is in it and he's been in a
- 14:17Speaker 5: bunch of stuff now he's in that whale fall movie
- 14:19Speaker 5: that's coming out or is out now.
- 14:21Speaker 3: That's like that's getting good reviews by the way which i.
- 14:25Speaker 5: Can't believe it's any good i know it just looks
- 14:28Speaker 5: so dumb i was like what maybe.
- 14:31Speaker 4: 84 percent or so i was just like yeah huh
- 14:33Speaker 4: that is crazy uh he was also in weapons he
- 14:36Speaker 4: was the like druggie kid uh yeah right he had an.
- 14:40Speaker 5: Addiction stuff and and all that and then he was
- 14:44Speaker 5: in that wolf's movie back in the day i don't
- 14:46Speaker 5: you did you ever watch that one brad pitt yeah
- 14:48Speaker 5: not back in the day but a couple years ago
- 14:50Speaker 5: yep he was the kid in that like the other
- 14:52Speaker 5: kid who got like they hit him with the car
- 14:54Speaker 5: and he does the big like flip over if you
- 14:56Speaker 5: remember that's like one of the only scenes i remember
- 14:58Speaker 5: from that movie uh but he is so great in
- 15:03Speaker 5: this movie it's just cool it's almost just him in
- 15:06Speaker 5: it like there's definitely other people in it but he
- 15:08Speaker 5: is the overwhelmingly only person in it almost uh and
- 15:13Speaker 5: it's just it's a wild ride the whole time there's
- 15:17Speaker 5: absolutely jump scares in there that scared the hell out
- 15:20Speaker 5: of me it's one of those and we'll talk about
- 15:23Speaker 5: one later where i'm like I'm like, I know what's
- 15:26Speaker 5: going to happen. I know what you're going to do
- 15:28Speaker 5: to me. And I still was like, I think I
- 15:31Speaker 5: even said Jesus Christ in the theater when it happened.
- 15:33Speaker 4: Cause I was like, dude, that was like in weapons too.
- 15:38Speaker 3: When the door opens.
- 15:40Speaker 4: She'd been like just waiting outside the door and you
- 15:43Speaker 4: see the door open. It's pitch black. And I just
- 15:46Speaker 4: remember just waiting for somebody to come out. It felt
- 15:48Speaker 4: like forever.
- 15:49Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 15:50Speaker 3: And then somebody finally does, and you're just.
- 15:52Speaker 4: Like, oh, my God. Oh, my God. Yeah.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 15:56Speaker 3: Which is kind of fun.
- 15:57Speaker 5: But also I'm not good at those. Yeah. But there
- 16:00Speaker 5: was a bunch of that stuff in this. It's definitely
- 16:03Speaker 5: more of... it's closer to like a slasher horror movie
- 16:09Speaker 5: than like, uh, you know, like it's like monster slash
- 16:14Speaker 5: slasher horror movie, I think. Um, but I really liked it.
- 16:17Speaker 5: I thought he does a great job. His shots are
- 16:20Speaker 5: so cool. Like he really makes a compelling story. And
- 16:25Speaker 5: there's that underlying humor that's throughout it that I think
- 16:28Speaker 5: is really cool, too. And it's creepy, and it's all
- 16:31Speaker 5: of that. I really liked it. So I recommend people
- 16:33Speaker 5: see it, especially if you're looking for a Halloween movie
- 16:36Speaker 5: to watch this weekend or something. Although I think it
- 16:39Speaker 5: might only be in theaters still, so I probably screwed
- 16:41Speaker 5: this up. But, you know, go to a theater. Check
- 16:44Speaker 5: it out. It'll be fun.
- 16:45Speaker 4: Check it out.
- 16:45Speaker 5: But yeah, Resident Evil, pretty fun.
- 16:48Speaker 4: Cool.
- 16:48Speaker 5: Pretty fun. What have you been streaming?
- 16:50Speaker 4: I went to HBO Max and I checked out what
- 16:54Speaker 4: all the fuss was about with The Pit season one. Oh,
- 16:59Speaker 4: it's been winning all the awards the last couple of years.
- 17:02Speaker 4: And I hesitated to watch it because I don't love
- 17:05Speaker 4: like the hospital shows and kind of same.
- 17:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 17:10Speaker 4: Like patients with the horrible conditions and like the graphic
- 17:13Speaker 4: surgeries that, that just doesn't do a ton for me.
- 17:16Speaker 5: Okay.
- 17:17Speaker 3: Um, I will say this show has a lot of that.
- 17:20Speaker 5: Okay.
- 17:21Speaker 4: Um, which were my least favorite parts, but, uh, And like,
- 17:25Speaker 4: I swear they had like 15 tracheotomies performed.
- 17:30Speaker 3: Like that was, they did it so many times.
- 17:32Speaker 5: A lot of trachs in the ER, Rob. A lot
- 17:34Speaker 5: of trachs.
- 17:35Speaker 4: A lot of them.
- 17:37Speaker 3: But aside from that, I really enjoyed how it.
- 17:39Speaker 4: Was set up. So each episode is an hour of
- 17:44Speaker 4: a 15 hour shift. So we're talking 15 episodes, which
- 17:47Speaker 4: you don't really see very often these days.
- 17:49Speaker 5: Okay.
- 17:51Speaker 4: Um, but no Wiley is really, really good in it.
- 17:55Speaker 4: And I get what all the fuss is about. He's fantastic. Um,
- 18:00Speaker 4: they tackle some issues like vaccines and mass shootings and
- 18:03Speaker 4: drug abuse. And it's really, really well done. Um, but
- 18:08Speaker 4: if you don't like seeing a bunch of blood and
- 18:10Speaker 4: disturbing surgeries, I'd probably steer clear of it. Um, also
- 18:15Speaker 4: one thing that was annoying was that, uh, it is
- 18:19Speaker 4: set in Pittsburgh and, And there is not one Pittsburgh
- 18:23Speaker 4: accent in that whole thing.
- 18:24Speaker 5: And you're like, why did you do this then?
- 18:27Speaker 3: Why did you set it in Pittsburgh?
- 18:29Speaker 4: You don't have one Pittsburgh accent? There was one lady
- 18:32Speaker 4: who kind of had just like East Coast.
- 18:35Speaker 5: Kind of vibes. Yeah, she said yins once or something.
- 18:38Speaker 4: Not even close to that. I couldn't believe we couldn't
- 18:42Speaker 4: get one yins in there.
- 18:43Speaker 5: They were like, guys, it can just be the pit
- 18:45Speaker 5: with one T. That's fine. We're all set then.
- 18:48Speaker 4: Yeah. So I was a little more surprised that they
- 18:54Speaker 4: didn't try and go there at all. Yeah.
- 18:55Speaker 5: That is interesting.
- 18:56Speaker 4: But, um, but it's also, that's a, that's an accent, man.
- 19:01Speaker 4: That's a distracting accent.
- 19:02Speaker 5: It's very confusing.
- 19:03Speaker 4: So, yeah.
- 19:04Speaker 3: So I kind of get why they.
- 19:06Speaker 4: But, but I'm surprised they didn't have one person, but, um, yeah,
- 19:11Speaker 4: that's funny. Yeah. It's really well done. Um, and I
- 19:15Speaker 4: might even watch the second season. I, I, I don't,
- 19:18Speaker 4: it won, it won everything again.
- 19:20Speaker 3: At this Emmy.
- 19:21Speaker 4: So I'm just like, I.
- 19:22Speaker 5: Haven't seen it either. Cause I kind of feel the
- 19:24Speaker 5: same where I'm like, I mean, and it'll probably be
- 19:26Speaker 5: fun to watch.
- 19:27Speaker 4: I don't know, but I will say a lot of
- 19:30Speaker 4: times I'm, I'm watching these like while the kids are
- 19:33Speaker 4: at school and it's when I'm having lunch.
- 19:35Speaker 5: Sure.
- 19:35Speaker 3: Could not have lunch and watch it.
- 19:37Speaker 5: That makes sense.
- 19:38Speaker 3: I wouldn't eat anything and watch.
- 19:41Speaker 5: I'm just going to have this peanut butter and jelly.
- 19:43Speaker 5: Oh my God. Another drink yet. yep so oh a
- 19:47Speaker 5: perforated bowel great.
- 19:50Speaker 4: Sweet amazing.
- 19:53Speaker 5: Yeah that's funny i like it nice uh we both

- 20:50Speaker 4: movie we're talking about. And for this one, we went
- 20:53Speaker 4: with our top five wishes gone wrong movies draft.
- 21:00Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 21:00Speaker 4: Yeah, which was tough for me. It was.
- 21:04Speaker 5: Yeah, it was hard for me. I was glad we
- 21:06Speaker 5: didn't try to do that with. a bigger group because
- 21:09Speaker 5: i was like yeah i sort of thought there'd be
- 21:11Speaker 5: a bunch and there's yes i don't know where i
- 21:14Speaker 5: was searching poorly i don't know but well in some.
- 21:17Speaker 4: There's wishes that go right that's true it's tough.
- 21:21Speaker 5: Yeah you know but yeah i got a few it'll
- 21:24Speaker 5: be fun yeah it'll be interesting yeah yeah well very
- 21:27Speaker 5: cool uh we'll look forward to that uh i'm not
- 21:31Speaker 5: gonna do coming attractions because i don't know um We
- 21:35Speaker 5: got to set up another one. Probably. It's fine. We'll
- 21:39Speaker 5: get back into the swing of things. My headphones went
- 21:41Speaker 5: out a couple of minutes ago. So if I sounded
- 21:43Speaker 5: weird for a minute, that was why I was having
- 21:46Speaker 5: a stroke. It's just going to be Rob and I
- 21:48Speaker 5: for this one. Because we're so obsessed with one another.
- 21:52Speaker 5: And yeah. Actually, truth be told, Rob wanted to invite someone,
- 21:56Speaker 5: but I thought I would have to crush their skull
- 21:58Speaker 5: with a brick. So we decided not to do that.
- 22:02Speaker 5: We didn't want that to happen. Didn't want that to
- 22:04Speaker 5: happen at all. So let's just get right into it, buddy.
- 22:07Speaker 5: Let's talk a little obsession here from this year.
- 22:10Speaker 4: I'm excited.
- 22:11Speaker 5: Super excited. Will you hit us with a rough synopsis?
- 22:15Speaker 4: I will. Okay. After breaking the mysterious one-wish willow to
- 22:21Speaker 4: win his crush's heart, a hopeless romantic finds himself getting
- 22:25Speaker 4: exactly what he asked for, but soon discovers that some
- 22:30Speaker 4: desires come at a dark, sinister price.
- 22:34Speaker 5: Ooh, a sinister price. I like that. I like it.
- 22:37Speaker 5: Let's go to Rotten Tomatoes and hear what they have
- 22:39Speaker 5: to say. Critics had this coming in at 93%.
- 22:44Speaker 3: So fresh.
- 22:44Speaker 5: That is fresh.
- 22:45Speaker 3: It's so fresh.
- 22:46Speaker 5: Fresh, buddy.
- 22:47Speaker 4: Love that.
- 22:49Speaker 5: Audience members have it at 94%, so they feel very
- 22:52Speaker 5: much the same, if not a little more in love
- 22:55Speaker 5: with it.
- 22:55Speaker 4: One more, it turns out.
- 22:56Speaker 5: Just obsessed with this movie they are.
- 22:59Speaker 4: Obsessed.
- 23:00Speaker 5: Nailing it. But let's hear what we think, Rob. Let's
- 23:03Speaker 5: go into our hot take.
- 23:05Speaker 4: Hot take.
- 23:06Speaker 5: Oh, it's so hot. That's a hot take.
- 23:10Speaker 3: That's a hot take.
- 23:12Speaker 4: Oh, I burned myself. It's hot.
- 23:13Speaker 3: It's so hot when you cook that cat.
- 23:16Speaker 5: I was going to say the cook the cat thing.
- 23:17Speaker 5: That's weird.
- 23:19Speaker 4: Get out of my head.
- 23:22Speaker 5: I was going to say there's extra pepper in the
- 23:24Speaker 5: cat meat.
- 23:27Speaker 4: Nice.
- 23:28Speaker 5: It's so spicy. Spicy hot. You know, spicy hot.
- 23:30Speaker 4: Spicy.
- 23:32Speaker 5: Yeah i can go first on this one uh i
- 23:38Speaker 5: it's hard to say i like this movie because it
- 23:40Speaker 5: scares the hell out of me but i did really
- 23:42Speaker 5: enjoy this movie uh i saw it in the theater
- 23:46Speaker 5: and now i've re-watched it what how was it in
- 23:49Speaker 5: the theater dude it was so stressful in the theater
- 23:53Speaker 5: because this movie is really just like oh no what's
- 23:56Speaker 5: up you know it's I would have loved to have
- 23:58Speaker 5: seen this movie. It's really fun. We had a good time.
- 24:01Speaker 5: Definitely some jump scares in there that I know we'll
- 24:04Speaker 5: talk about. But just a really fun vibe. Again, I
- 24:08Speaker 5: love a horror movie. I'm noticing about myself. If there's
- 24:11Speaker 5: like an undercurrent of like some funny stuff, this one
- 24:15Speaker 5: is less of that, I feel like.
- 24:17Speaker 4: But.
- 24:18Speaker 5: But it's there. But it's there, you know, like it
- 24:20Speaker 5: doesn't take itself too seriously. Also is very scary. It's
- 24:24Speaker 5: got like sort of the playful magic stuff in the
- 24:27Speaker 5: background that like isn't playful at times, but then is,
- 24:30Speaker 5: you know, stuff like that. I just really liked this
- 24:34Speaker 5: movie a lot. It's a very relatable thing of just
- 24:37Speaker 5: like you like someone they don't. either maybe don't like
- 24:41Speaker 5: you as much or don't like you in the same way.
- 24:44Speaker 5: And like, you know, all that stuff. I just think
- 24:46Speaker 5: it's very universal. I thought they did great stuff with
- 24:50Speaker 5: just the vibe of it. Like the shots that they did.
- 24:55Speaker 5: And we learn that a bunch of this is like,
- 24:57Speaker 5: because of budget issues. restrictions and stuff right but the
- 25:00Speaker 5: creativity that they had and all these people i'd never
- 25:03Speaker 5: seen other than andy richter i don't think i'd seen
- 25:06Speaker 5: anyone else in this movie before yeah uh in anything
- 25:10Speaker 5: i i just thought it was really really well done
- 25:13Speaker 5: some great acting performances uh and just just a really
- 25:18Speaker 5: fun spooky scary time uh and it's almost more toward
- 25:24Speaker 5: like slasher, which I also kind of like to a
- 25:27Speaker 5: little bit. Um, but yeah, it mixes a lot of things.
- 25:29Speaker 5: We've got some like possession in there. We got some like,
- 25:32Speaker 5: you know, magic stuff. We have like, you know, unrequited love,
- 25:36Speaker 5: all these things. So I really had a great time
- 25:38Speaker 5: with this movie. I think it is. It's one of
- 25:41Speaker 5: the best horror films I've ever seen. I think for sure.
- 25:44Speaker 4: Like boom, I like it.
- 25:46Speaker 5: Great performances in it. Really fun world.
- 25:50Speaker 4: Um, yeah.
- 25:51Speaker 5: So, uh, yeah i just like it a lot but
- 25:55Speaker 5: uh and my hot take uh she's not she's not
- 25:59Speaker 5: great with tape because she used a lot of tape
- 26:01Speaker 5: on that door and he opened it pretty easily so
- 26:05Speaker 5: i just think like she used a lot of tape
- 26:08Speaker 5: to not really lock it down so was.
- 26:10Speaker 4: That like because i felt like both times that i
- 26:13Speaker 4: saw that it wasn't like as jump scary as i
- 26:18Speaker 4: thought it could have been but did that one freak
- 26:19Speaker 4: you out in the theater when that scene the tape
- 26:22Speaker 4: itself when you see the the door because you first see.
- 26:26Speaker 5: His his reaction to it right almost made it like
- 26:31Speaker 5: not that it wasn't like oh this is weird you
- 26:33Speaker 5: definitely got the like uneasy feeling but you thought it
- 26:36Speaker 5: was almost going to be something worse that's what i
- 26:39Speaker 5: felt when his eyeballs were there so i guess i
- 26:41Speaker 5: don't remember 100 but I don't remember that one being
- 26:45Speaker 5: like that or anything.
- 26:47Speaker 4: But, yeah, she's just. That's really funny. She can work
- 26:49Speaker 4: on her tape game. That was the best hot take
- 26:51Speaker 4: I got. I mean, that was probably a few rolls
- 26:54Speaker 4: of duct tape. It was so many, right? It was
- 26:57Speaker 4: a lot. And he just kind of.
- 26:58Speaker 5: Yeah, and he's not like a big guy, you know.
- 27:01Speaker 5: I don't think he's very crazy strong.
- 27:03Speaker 4: He was freaked out.
- 27:04Speaker 5: So he probably had some adrenaline.
- 27:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 27:08Speaker 5: But yeah, that's the hottest take I got.
- 27:10Speaker 3: That's a hot take. I like this movie.
- 27:13Speaker 4: It was written and directed by Curry Barker.
- 27:15Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 27:17Speaker 4: And I would agree.
- 27:18Speaker 3: It's one of the best horror films I've seen.
- 27:20Speaker 4: In a very long time.
- 27:22Speaker 5: Good, right?
- 27:23Speaker 4: Again, not my favorite genre, but there are exceptions to
- 27:27Speaker 4: the rule, and some horror films are amazing, and this
- 27:30Speaker 4: is one of them. It's been widely publicized how they
- 27:34Speaker 4: were able to make this film on a nothing budget. Crazy.
- 27:36Speaker 4: And it has become a mega hit. The likes we
- 27:39Speaker 4: haven't seen since the Blair Witch Project back when we
- 27:42Speaker 4: were kids.
- 27:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 27:44Speaker 4: It's so impressive what they were able to do without
- 27:47Speaker 4: the big money special effects and make it so real
- 27:49Speaker 4: and terrifying and these pretty grounded performances. Um, so I
- 27:54Speaker 4: have seen Curry Barker and Cooper Tomlinson on the tick tock. Oh, okay.
- 28:00Speaker 4: And they would do different skits and stuff. Um, and
- 28:04Speaker 4: I always thought they were really funny.
- 28:05Speaker 5: Cool.
- 28:06Speaker 4: Uh, and it's been very cool to see how it
- 28:09Speaker 4: has progressed and they have become this like big worldwide phenomenon.
- 28:13Speaker 5: So those two, are those two like a team then?
- 28:17Speaker 4: I mean, they would do a lot of like, they
- 28:19Speaker 4: at least know each other. Yeah.
- 28:21Speaker 3: Skits yeah yeah for sure yeah um and they.
- 28:26Speaker 4: Were funny dude like and curry barker i was surprised
- 28:28Speaker 4: that he wasn't in the movie i mean he's clearly the.
- 28:31Speaker 3: Voice um when he calls.
- 28:35Speaker 4: The like one wish willow hotline that's curry barker hello
- 28:40Speaker 4: um but dude he's funny like oh that's cool on
- 28:44Speaker 4: tiktok and stuff he's yeah But yeah, Indy Navarrete was incredible.
- 28:50Speaker 4: And we'll be talking about her a lot during this episode,
- 28:53Speaker 4: I'm sure. But I really thought it was a great movie.
- 28:56Speaker 4: It's a great horror flick. If you're into that sort
- 28:59Speaker 4: of thing, I would highly recommend it.
- 29:01Speaker 5: Yes.
- 29:02Speaker 4: My hot take, and I said this before, but I
- 29:05Speaker 4: just feel bad. I feel bad that this guy, Michael.
- 29:08Speaker 3: Johnston, has gotten almost no acclaim.
- 29:11Speaker 4: It's such a good take. It's all been Indy Navarrete.
- 29:14Speaker 4: Because he is the clear lead of this film. But
- 29:18Speaker 4: I also totally understand why it's happening.
- 29:22Speaker 3: His character is such a bummer. And she was amazing
- 29:26Speaker 3: in this film.
- 29:27Speaker 4: 100%.
- 29:28Speaker 3: Very easy on the eyes as well.
- 29:30Speaker 4: But still feel a bit bad that no one is
- 29:33Speaker 4: talking about this guy.
- 29:35Speaker 5: When we brought because it was that during a podcast
- 29:37Speaker 5: we first brought that up that cracked me up so
- 29:40Speaker 5: hard because i was like you're right she's like getting
- 29:43Speaker 5: movies she's an x-man like and he's just like i
- 29:47Speaker 5: was in it too i was in it way more
- 29:50Speaker 5: than her and if they made it for under a
- 29:52Speaker 5: million dollars for sure he didn't get paid a lot no.
- 29:57Speaker 2: I was like, hi, I'm here.
- 30:00Speaker 5: And he was pretty good. But yes, that character is
- 30:02Speaker 5: such a bummer.
- 30:03Speaker 3: Such a bummer. And my other hot take.
- 30:06Speaker 5: Love it.
- 30:06Speaker 3: That character is really the villain.
- 30:09Speaker 4: A hundred percent. As soon as he finds out that
- 30:13Speaker 4: Nikki is in this kind of purgatory and he ignores it.
- 30:17Speaker 5: Like, yeah, that's bad.
- 30:19Speaker 4: That's the final straw. Like, you're the worst.
- 30:21Speaker 5: Also, a lot of consent conversations we can talk about.
- 30:24Speaker 5: And I get a ton of that. Like, you know,
- 30:27Speaker 5: how does how does possession work with that? I understand
- 30:30Speaker 5: that we got to go through some things, but questionable
- 30:33Speaker 5: at best.
- 30:34Speaker 4: But he's also one of those characters and you know,
- 30:36Speaker 4: I get sick of it. Just like the, the whiny,
- 30:39Speaker 4: so whiny dude. Yeah. I really get sick of that character.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:44Speaker 4: Like, you know, like a Ross from friends or like,
- 30:48Speaker 4: it's why you left for.
- 30:49Speaker 5: Three straight weeks and we didn't talk. Cause you were just,
- 30:52Speaker 5: you were done with me and my whiny nature. That
- 30:55Speaker 5: was it. Finally.
- 30:57Speaker 3: Don't have to hear all this.
- 31:00Speaker 5: I booed again.
- 31:01Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 31:05Speaker 3: No, I don't care if people will cry.
- 31:06Speaker 4: I just, when it's always just this.
- 31:09Speaker 5: No, he's so whiny and just like, well, I got
- 31:13Speaker 5: everything I wanted.
- 31:15Speaker 4: Okay.
- 31:17Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 31:18Speaker 4: So I've, I've just feel bad for Michael Johnson. That's
- 31:20Speaker 4: my hottest take.
- 31:21Speaker 5: That's a great hot take. God, that makes me laugh.
- 31:23Speaker 3: Even though I'm sure he's doing just fine, but there's probably, yeah.
- 31:28Speaker 5: There's probably some small part of him that's like, cool, well,
- 31:30Speaker 5: everybody loved her, so that's good.
- 31:32Speaker 2: Yeah, cool.
- 31:35Speaker 5: Love that. Hot take. Let's talk about our favorite acting performance,
- 31:39Speaker 5: and Wyatt is definitely that guy. Shall we name the dude?
- 31:42Speaker 4: The dude. I'm the dude.
- 31:45Speaker 5: So that's what you call me, you know? That or
- 31:49Speaker 5: his dudeness or duder or, you know, El Duderino, if
- 31:54Speaker 5: you're not into the whole brevity thing.
- 31:56Speaker 4: Yeah, this one's easy.
- 31:57Speaker 5: You can go first. Go for it.
- 31:59Speaker 3: Dude, that's a life changing performance.
- 32:02Speaker 5: Crazy.
- 32:02Speaker 4: Indian Everett is Nikki. I mean, she became a relatively
- 32:06Speaker 4: unknown into a household name and is now, like we said,
- 32:10Speaker 4: going to be an X-Men.
- 32:11Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 32:14Speaker 4: She did so many cool things in this movie. The
- 32:18Speaker 4: way she was able to. change her face and you
- 32:22Speaker 4: could like see that it's Nikki and then it goes
- 32:24Speaker 4: back to terrifying, uh, possession. Um, yeah, so nuts. And
- 32:30Speaker 4: she plays basically a mentally unstable person, very impressively terrifying.
- 32:36Speaker 3: And it, it just makes you feel uncomfortable.
- 32:40Speaker 4: Um, Like when you see someone who is mentally unstable,
- 32:45Speaker 4: like when like the scene at the restaurant when he's like,
- 32:49Speaker 4: did your is your dad really dying?
- 32:51Speaker 3: And she's like, no, no, no, no, no. And then
- 32:55Speaker 3: just screaming.
- 32:57Speaker 4: And he's just like, oh, God, I hate all of this. No,
- 33:01Speaker 4: so stressful.
- 33:02Speaker 3: Let's be quiet.
- 33:03Speaker 4: Sit down, please. I'm sorry.
- 33:05Speaker 5: I'll do whatever you want.
- 33:07Speaker 4: It's so hard to watch or another amazing scene in
- 33:12Speaker 4: that that party scene where, you know, he has to
- 33:16Speaker 4: kiss the girl to the left. And then you just
- 33:19Speaker 4: like she just stands behind her. Yeah, and then pulls. Oh,
- 33:26Speaker 4: my God.
- 33:26Speaker 5: So good, dude.
- 33:27Speaker 4: And she makes that frowny face.
- 33:29Speaker 5: She had a lot of crazy. When he's like, I
- 33:32Speaker 5: want you to be happy, and she's like, how's this?
- 33:33Speaker 5: And does that super cheesy big smile, and it's just like, ah!
- 33:37Speaker 5: That's worse somehow. Let's do that.
- 33:39Speaker 4: I don't know. Yeah.
- 33:41Speaker 5: Let's not do that anymore. Yeah, that's crazy.
- 33:43Speaker 4: She's incredible.
- 33:44Speaker 5: Incredible. I didn't know that she was in 47 episodes
- 33:48Speaker 5: of that Superman and Lois show. Now, I didn't watch
- 33:50Speaker 5: that show, but that's a lot. it is a lot
- 33:53Speaker 5: of episodes that's pretty crazy but yeah uh i also
- 33:58Speaker 5: picked her i think it's undeniable.
- 34:01Speaker 3: Really i know um yeah.
- 34:05Speaker 5: I don't know that i have anything like extra to
- 34:07Speaker 5: add to that i think you explained it super well
- 34:09Speaker 5: she's just like her transformation that must be a really
- 34:13Speaker 5: fun well maybe scary part to play too because it's
- 34:16Speaker 5: like there's so much that you have to do but
- 34:18Speaker 5: You just have freedom to kind of just go absolutely bonkers,
- 34:22Speaker 5: which is kind of fun. Yeah, I just loved it.
- 34:26Speaker 5: But yes, those the small moments of this performance, I
- 34:29Speaker 5: thought were like my favorite one. You know, like the
- 34:33Speaker 5: little bit of her would actually pop out and then,
- 34:35Speaker 5: you know, get taken back.
- 34:37Speaker 4: Every time that would happen.
- 34:38Speaker 1: Yes.
- 34:39Speaker 4: So effective.
- 34:39Speaker 5: So effective.
- 34:40Speaker 4: Freaks me out.
- 34:41Speaker 5: So cool. But yeah, she just so fun, man. I
- 34:44Speaker 5: really liked it. And it was fun to rewatch this
- 34:48Speaker 5: on the second time while we're rewatching it to be
- 34:51Speaker 5: like she clearly like she likes him, but she's not
- 34:55Speaker 5: into him at the beginning.
- 34:56Speaker 4: And that feels very.
- 34:58Speaker 5: Obvious on the second one to me more than the first. Yeah.
- 35:03Speaker 5: But yeah, she was just so good, man. I really
- 35:06Speaker 5: loved her. But she's great.
- 35:08Speaker 4: She was. She was great. I guess in this spot,
- 35:11Speaker 4: we can bring up Michael Johnston as Bear. And really,
- 35:14Speaker 4: most of the issues that I have is the character.
- 35:18Speaker 5: Absolutely.
- 35:19Speaker 3: I thought he played it very well.
- 35:21Speaker 5: Well, he's like, he's a wiener. Like, he's a coward. He's,
- 35:25Speaker 5: you know, like, whiny, like you said, all the things.
- 35:29Speaker 5: But yeah, he did a good job. It's just that
- 35:31Speaker 5: character sucks.
- 35:33Speaker 4: Just a bummer.
- 35:33Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, for sure.
- 35:35Speaker 4: But he did great.
- 35:37Speaker 3: Why don't we move to the Tucci Award?
- 35:40Speaker 1: Tucci!
- 35:42Speaker 5: I would have picked Cooper Tomlinson for this. He's not
- 35:45Speaker 5: in it a ton. It's cool to hear, and now
- 35:48Speaker 5: I feel bad because I think you said it before.
- 35:50Speaker 5: but that he is funny and like is a personality
- 35:53Speaker 5: as well. Cause I was like, this guy is really charming.
- 35:56Speaker 5: Like I kind of wanted more from him almost. I
- 36:01Speaker 5: just really liked, I don't know. I liked his best
- 36:03Speaker 5: friend stuff. You could tell that he was conflicted, which
- 36:06Speaker 5: was fun. and like again on the rewatch right like
- 36:10Speaker 5: him being like don't ruin trivia night when it's not
- 36:13Speaker 5: really about trivia night it's just that yeah that was
- 36:15Speaker 5: great into her and knows it's gonna end badly for
- 36:18Speaker 5: everyone and you know all the stuff right but like
- 36:21Speaker 5: yeah i thought he was really good in this too
- 36:24Speaker 5: i liked him a lot same wasn't in it a
- 36:26Speaker 5: lot like.
- 36:26Speaker 4: We said but it wasn't in a lot i also
- 36:29Speaker 4: i don't know that that actor is going to ever
- 36:34Speaker 4: do anything real deep in that.
- 36:36Speaker 3: I'd be into it.
- 36:37Speaker 4: Sure. But he plays that guy, the best friend, maybe
- 36:41Speaker 4: kind of douchey, kind.
- 36:42Speaker 5: Of a dirt bag, like maybe a little.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 36:44Speaker 4: Yeah. Um, I think he can nail that. And I
- 36:48Speaker 4: think he did nail that in this movie really well. Yeah.
- 36:51Speaker 4: He was, he was my, uh, too much as well. Um,
- 36:57Speaker 4: Megan Lawless is Sarah. Uh, poor Sarah, uh, poor sam
- 37:01Speaker 4: really got screwed over in this.
- 37:03Speaker 5: Movie such a cutie pie cutie i mean come.
- 37:07Speaker 4: On just sweet bear you know um is bummed out
- 37:15Speaker 4: that they're you know now that nikki is super into
- 37:19Speaker 4: him even though like she wasn't into it and she
- 37:23Speaker 4: probably a little pissed cause she explained that she was.
- 37:27Speaker 3: Interested in him and then she became obsessed.
- 37:29Speaker 4: Um, so yeah, she had a lot going on there. Um,
- 37:33Speaker 4: but yeah, what a, doesn't turn out great for her.
- 37:35Speaker 5: And no, I mean, or any of them really, but
- 37:40Speaker 5: especially I felt the.
- 37:41Speaker 4: Worst for her.
- 37:42Speaker 5: I was just like, ah, she was going to get
- 37:45Speaker 5: into art school.
- 37:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 37:47Speaker 5: Also, she was going to art school to be a
- 37:49Speaker 5: tattoo artist, which I thought was good. We should expand
- 37:52Speaker 5: our horizons. I don't know that it's necessary, but it's good.
- 37:56Speaker 3: Probably not.
- 37:58Speaker 5: Well, not ultimately, I guess. But yeah, I thought she
- 38:02Speaker 5: was really good, too. I liked her a lot.
- 38:04Speaker 4: She was. It was fun seeing Andy Richter. I mean,
- 38:07Speaker 4: he was the only name in this movie. Yeah.
- 38:10Speaker 5: I almost wonder, how did they get Andy Richter? Did
- 38:13Speaker 5: someone know? Maybe they know one of his kids? I
- 38:16Speaker 5: don't even know if he has kids, but maybe?
- 38:19Speaker 4: Yeah, that was very surprising.
- 38:21Speaker 5: I don't know. It's cool. He didn't have to do
- 38:24Speaker 5: a lot either, obviously.
- 38:26Speaker 4: No, I mean, if he did more than three days.
- 38:29Speaker 5: On that, I would be shocked. In fact, there's almost
- 38:33Speaker 5: no way, because I think the total... I think I'll
- 38:36Speaker 5: say it later, but the total... time that they took
- 38:39Speaker 5: on this movie was 20 days overall yeah so yeah
- 38:43Speaker 5: yeah i can't have but it was fun to see
- 38:45Speaker 5: him and other yeah other than those folks like there's
- 38:48Speaker 5: no one else really in it for very long.
- 38:50Speaker 4: I thought that the both of the shop workers had
- 38:54Speaker 4: that kind of sarcastic fun oh that's like funny yeah
- 38:59Speaker 4: Like that was Haley Fitzgerald and Darren Tunder.
- 39:03Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 39:04Speaker 4: And I thought they both fit that vibe really well.
- 39:06Speaker 4: And if you watch any of Curry Barker and Cooper
- 39:09Speaker 4: Tomlinson's TikToks, it's very much that vibe. So that was
- 39:15Speaker 4: that was fun. It was fun dialogue. And I thought
- 39:17Speaker 4: that they I enjoyed their performance.
- 39:21Speaker 5: It was also funny because I was like. And I'm
- 39:24Speaker 5: sure it was a scheduling thing or something, but I
- 39:26Speaker 5: was like, why is there a different owner in the shop?
- 39:29Speaker 5: Or is it just... to be like is this real
- 39:31Speaker 5: for a second But he says, I got my wish.
- 39:35Speaker 5: So I was like, and I couldn't find anything about
- 39:38Speaker 5: this on trivia or something, but I was like, did
- 39:40Speaker 5: she wish that she was like a dude? Or like,
- 39:43Speaker 5: I thought maybe.
- 39:44Speaker 4: Like, I was just like, what?
- 39:47Speaker 5: But I could never find anything. So that's my own. Yeah.
- 39:50Speaker 4: I mean, I don't know that.
- 39:53Speaker 3: I think it was just different employees that were working
- 39:55Speaker 3: at the store.
- 39:56Speaker 5: That's the easy answer. Yeah, for sure. For sure.
- 39:58Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 39:59Speaker 4: 100%. I was like, whoa, you really went deep dive
- 40:01Speaker 4: and I like it.
- 40:03Speaker 5: For some reason, I was just like, whoa, why is
- 40:05Speaker 5: it a different character? And then I was like, it's
- 40:08Speaker 5: just different shifts.
- 40:10Speaker 4: Yeah. We really don't need to go too deep into this.
- 40:17Speaker 4: We're just getting other people paid.
- 40:19Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 40:19Speaker 4: Maybe.
- 40:20Speaker 5: Which is good.
- 40:20Speaker 4: Who knows?
- 40:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:21Speaker 4: A sandwich at least or something.
- 40:23Speaker 5: Right, yeah.
- 40:25Speaker 4: A yummy cat sandwich. Delicious. Well, why don't we move
- 40:28Speaker 4: on to our favorite scene and let's choose the dingus.
- 40:31Speaker 5: The dingus.
- 40:33Speaker 4: The dingus is quite simple, really.
- 40:35Speaker 5: Dingus. Dingus. I could talk about my dingus all night long.
- 40:38Speaker 5: I'm going to kiss you, dingus. You want to go
- 40:40Speaker 5: first on this one? Sure.
- 40:42Speaker 4: I picked three scenes.
- 40:44Speaker 5: It's hard. This one was hard to like. It's tough
- 40:46Speaker 5: for me. Pinpoint for me.
- 40:48Speaker 4: I really love how it ends. So I guess, I
- 40:53Speaker 4: guess if I had to pick a favorite, it might
- 40:56Speaker 4: be that. So. That's cool.
- 40:58Speaker 3: It's him being too much of a weenie, too much
- 41:00Speaker 3: of a coward to shoot himself.
- 41:02Speaker 4: So he takes pills. And this is after all that
- 41:05Speaker 4: horrific stuff. Sarah's dead now. Brutal. She set it up
- 41:10Speaker 4: like in the house. And she made all these homemade tattoos.
- 41:15Speaker 5: She was just trying to look like her because she
- 41:17Speaker 5: thought he liked her? Is that what that was?
- 41:19Speaker 4: Which was super weird.
- 41:22Speaker 5: Also, why did they bring the body to the music
- 41:25Speaker 5: store if they were then just going to bring... Yeah,
- 41:28Speaker 5: that is weird.
- 41:28Speaker 4: Yeah, I didn't understand that either. But he ends up
- 41:32Speaker 4: taking pills. And even then, he was going to bail
- 41:37Speaker 4: and make himself throw up because he's such a weenie.
- 41:41Speaker 4: um but she we hear the the crack or like
- 41:46Speaker 4: the the music and then the crack of the wish
- 41:48Speaker 4: and then he stops so good which that was such
- 41:51Speaker 4: a great little twist there and so smart like.
- 41:55Speaker 5: Setting it up right you hear the song the first
- 41:57Speaker 5: time you hear the song when he finds the box
- 41:59Speaker 5: before the call like all right you know i just
- 42:02Speaker 5: think that's really great i.
- 42:03Speaker 4: Love i loved all that we know that she made
- 42:06Speaker 4: the wish for him to fall in love with her
- 42:08Speaker 4: yeah So he does, he forgets that.
- 42:10Speaker 3: He needs to throw up, ends up dying.
- 42:14Speaker 4: Then we see the real Nikki come back and, and
- 42:18Speaker 4: it's like she was about to kill herself.
- 42:20Speaker 5: Oh yeah. Yeah.
- 42:22Speaker 4: And, but then she snaps out of it and we
- 42:25Speaker 4: see the real Nikki come back and then it's crying
- 42:27Speaker 4: throughout the credits. And it was so, so wild, creepy
- 42:31Speaker 4: and nuts. And you're just like, what did I just watch?
- 42:34Speaker 4: And so that's, I feel like that has to be it,
- 42:39Speaker 4: but I was going to say a different scene initially.
- 42:41Speaker 5: I like that.
- 42:42Speaker 4: I'll stick with that for now. I really loved that twist.
- 42:45Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm just now realizing this is like an extra
- 42:49Speaker 5: messed up Romeo and Juliet. Like she dies first, then he,
- 42:53Speaker 5: you know.
- 42:54Speaker 4: Yep.
- 42:55Speaker 5: Yeah, that's interesting. Um, love that. All that that you
- 42:59Speaker 5: said is really, really good.
- 43:01Speaker 4: Um, one other thing. Yes. Sorry. Um, there is totally
- 43:05Speaker 4: the foreshadowing of the cat that got into the pills,
- 43:09Speaker 4: died on the carpet. He ends up.
- 43:10Speaker 5: Doing the same exact. Yeah, that is great. Anyway, that's
- 43:14Speaker 5: a good call. Good call. Man, I love that. That's
- 43:19Speaker 5: that's one I had down for sure. I think I
- 43:22Speaker 5: would do like a two part scene when she's there
- 43:27Speaker 5: sleeping in bed together and he gets up because Sarah's
- 43:31Speaker 5: texting him. And then she does the whisper talking, the like,
- 43:35Speaker 5: where is she sleeping? And then she's like, just kill me, please, please, please, please.
- 43:40Speaker 4: Unbelievable, dude.
- 43:42Speaker 5: First of all, that's chilling. Yeah. He's too much of
- 43:45Speaker 5: a wiener to do it. And also, I get it.
- 43:47Speaker 4: Like, that's not an easy thing to do, but like.
- 43:50Speaker 5: you know he splits basically uh and then goes and
- 43:54Speaker 5: talks with sarah in the car and then that whole
- 43:57Speaker 5: time i was like that window is gone that jumpscare
- 44:00Speaker 5: one of these windows is gone i don't know which
- 44:03Speaker 5: i guess and i'm i mean i poop myself almost
- 44:07Speaker 5: like it's it was so nuts and then so gruesome
- 44:13Speaker 5: like brick it's so brutal holy cow and then yeah
- 44:18Speaker 5: just everything goes crazy from there but that like that
- 44:21Speaker 5: block them in bed her being like please just kill
- 44:24Speaker 5: me and then her just completely gone poor sarah it
- 44:29Speaker 5: just gets obliterated poor sarah it's that scene is crazy
- 44:35Speaker 5: and her.
- 44:35Speaker 4: Reaction to that too and she's like hey so this
- 44:38Speaker 4: is your fault yeah this is very abusory language right
- 44:42Speaker 4: like why did you make me do this manipulatory yeah
- 44:46Speaker 4: but it was yeah you made me do this this
- 44:49Speaker 4: is your fault yeah it was gross but i'm here
- 44:53Speaker 4: for you i'm always here for you just like this
- 44:56Speaker 4: is scary this is not yeah yeah.
- 45:00Speaker 5: Uh so yeah one of those for me uh another
- 45:05Speaker 5: runner-up that i had we talked about a little bit
- 45:07Speaker 5: but the party.
- 45:08Speaker 4: Just the that is kind of where i was going.
- 45:11Speaker 5: Party is pretty great it's super uncomfortable That weird Hansel
- 45:17Speaker 5: and Gretel incest erotica nasty. Whatever is happening.
- 45:23Speaker 4: And she like puts voices on and you're just like
- 45:26Speaker 4: so weirded out.
- 45:27Speaker 5: That scene is incredible.
- 45:29Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 45:30Speaker 5: And then like freaking out with a bottle and like
- 45:33Speaker 5: pulling the chair out happens. I guess that's before that,
- 45:35Speaker 5: but like the bottle self-mutilation. Oh my God. It's just.
- 45:40Speaker 4: Yeah, because she like comes back. She comes to for
- 45:43Speaker 4: a second.
- 45:43Speaker 5: She freaks out. Yeah, all the stuff. But yeah, dude.
- 45:47Speaker 4: Yeah, that's way up there for me. That scene is nuts.
- 45:50Speaker 5: And it's just the percolating of how uncomfortable that is,
- 45:54Speaker 5: you know, right away because she's there and like, oh,
- 45:58Speaker 5: my God. So nuts.
- 46:00Speaker 4: Did you have another runner up? Yeah, my only other
- 46:03Speaker 4: runner up is Nikki watching Bear sleep.
- 46:07Speaker 5: Oh, God. Yes.
- 46:09Speaker 4: And she's in the corner.
- 46:11Speaker 5: I don't like my dreams. Wasn't that when she's like, well, yeah,
- 46:15Speaker 5: but that's when she's like, oh yeah, that's later, isn't it?
- 46:18Speaker 3: Well, no, she's just, it starts getting, she's like, I.
- 46:21Speaker 4: Just feel like you don't love me as much as
- 46:25Speaker 4: I love.
- 46:25Speaker 3: It doesn't feel mutual. And the way that her face
- 46:29Speaker 3: like changes.
- 46:30Speaker 5: Yeah. It's so gross.
- 46:34Speaker 4: And the weird, creepy movement, the editing is able to
- 46:37Speaker 4: do like, it almost feels like it's like, Like, what
- 46:42Speaker 4: is that?
- 46:44Speaker 5: Oh, yeah. Why am I blanking on it? Where she's
- 46:45Speaker 5: like up on the ceiling and stuff, right?
- 46:47Speaker 1: Like.
- 46:48Speaker 3: That, but just the movement is so creepy.
- 46:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:50Speaker 5: Kind of like arachnid-y. Which is a creepy movement. Kind of,
- 46:52Speaker 5: but yeah.
- 46:53Speaker 4: Yeah. Or like the ring. I feel like I did that.
- 46:55Speaker 4: Maybe that is the one. A little bit.
- 46:57Speaker 5: There's a better example, but I'm not thinking of it
- 46:59Speaker 5: right now. Conjuring or something.
- 47:01Speaker 4: It's almost claymation-y feeling. But yeah, real creepy.
- 47:07Speaker 5: Very creepy. That's a good one. It's a really good one. Yeah.
- 47:14Speaker 5: I think I can go with any of those.
- 47:17Speaker 4: Yeah. I mean, I'm way high on the party scene, too,
- 47:21Speaker 4: because it really is so creepy. And like the lead
- 47:24Speaker 4: up into it, it's like, oh, it's going to be
- 47:26Speaker 4: a boys night. And she like screams.
- 47:30Speaker 5: OK.
- 47:30Speaker 4: It's like, oh, my God. It's just crazy because I
- 47:34Speaker 4: think that I heard Sarah was going.
- 47:37Speaker 5: Yeah. i did love that weird phone call though that
- 47:40Speaker 5: you mentioned earlier it was great it's pretty great and
- 47:44Speaker 5: what he's like oh we really don't do this you
- 47:46Speaker 5: make sound like i could cancel my wish i was
- 47:48Speaker 5: just guessing your intention man.
- 47:50Speaker 4: Yeah right but when you can hear her and she's
- 47:54Speaker 4: like do you want to talk to nikki and you
- 47:55Speaker 4: just hear the screaming so.
- 47:57Speaker 5: Creepy like talking to the devil or something at that
- 48:00Speaker 5: point like i don't know yeah yikes yeah dude so indifferent.
- 48:05Speaker 3: Yeah So, yeah, party scene. I'd say party scene.
- 48:09Speaker 4: In the ending for me.
- 48:10Speaker 5: I'm in on that.
- 48:11Speaker 4: Yeah. And the ending.
- 48:12Speaker 3: Starting at the horrible stuff that happens to Sarah.
- 48:16Speaker 5: The brick. The Brick House.
- 48:19Speaker 4: I love that.
- 48:19Speaker 5: That's great. Well, let's go ahead and talk about our
- 48:23Speaker 5: favorite quote. It's time to show me the money! Show
- 48:26Speaker 5: me the money!
- 48:28Speaker 4: I need to feel you, Jerry!
- 48:30Speaker 2: Show me the money!
- 48:31Speaker 4: Jerry, you better yell!
- 48:32Speaker 2: Show me the money!
- 48:35Speaker 4: Start it off, man.
- 48:35Speaker 5: Love it. It's like right away, but I did think
- 48:39Speaker 5: this was funny when he's like, he's like, he... We
- 48:42Speaker 5: have the whole opening scene of like how much he
- 48:44Speaker 5: loves Nikki and everything. He's like, yeah, that would freak
- 48:47Speaker 5: me out. His friend says, yeah, I did. I loved
- 48:50Speaker 5: that whole speech. But then when his friend's like, yeah,
- 48:54Speaker 5: that would freak me out. Nikki would vomit. And he's like,
- 48:56Speaker 5: you told me to pour my heart out. Do you
- 48:58Speaker 5: know how vulnerable I just got? And his friend just goes,
- 49:02Speaker 5: I underestimated you. I just thought was really, really great.
- 49:09Speaker 5: And then I loved another early one. I love Trivia Night.
- 49:12Speaker 5: It's all I have. I wake up every Wednesday rock
- 49:15Speaker 5: hard thinking about trivia.
- 49:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I loved that, too.
- 49:20Speaker 5: I thought that was really really great um i also
- 49:25Speaker 5: loved when uh he orders the pina colada i think
- 49:29Speaker 5: is what he orders and she's like that's exactly what
- 49:31Speaker 5: he's like it's so feminine he's like why is it
- 49:33Speaker 5: feminine and i don't like the taste of alcohol I
- 49:37Speaker 5: just thought that was really, I feel like he put
- 49:39Speaker 5: on a feminine voice when he said that.
- 49:41Speaker 4: Oh, I feel like he was just being a wiener still.
- 49:43Speaker 4: I don't think he did.
- 49:44Speaker 5: It just cracked me up. I love that.
- 49:46Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 49:48Speaker 5: Um, yeah. Why don't you say so? You said you
- 49:51Speaker 5: didn't have a ton.
- 49:52Speaker 4: So say, I don't, uh, those were some, I was
- 49:57Speaker 4: looking back at my notes to see if I had.
- 49:59Speaker 3: Uh, if I had any, and so much of it
- 50:02Speaker 3: is just how.
- 50:03Speaker 4: It is said. It's not like the actual, yeah. Um, so,
- 50:08Speaker 4: oh my God, one of the creepiest things ever. So
- 50:14Speaker 4: he's like, Nikki, what are you doing? She comes back
- 50:16Speaker 4: with a knife. She's like, well, if I have the
- 50:19Speaker 4: bed all to myself tonight, I'll lay there warm until
- 50:22Speaker 4: slowly I feel cold. Like I walked into a freezer.
- 50:26Speaker 4: My hands will feel like they're full of sand, like
- 50:28Speaker 4: when you lay on them wrong. And that feeling will
- 50:31Speaker 4: slowly spread across my entire body.
- 50:33Speaker 3: You're still in my heart, but you're slipping. Any thought
- 50:36Speaker 3: of pain or regret.
- 50:37Speaker 4: Will slip away like a chemical switch. Even though it's
- 50:40Speaker 4: quiet in the room, somehow it gets even quieter. It's
- 50:44Speaker 4: not painful. You just let it go. Everything you once were.
- 50:47Speaker 4: And then there's nothing. It's not darkness. No, sweetie.
- 50:50Speaker 5: Darkness is a color. There's just nothing.
- 50:53Speaker 4: Nothing. Or you can stay. Or you can stay.
- 50:58Speaker 5: Got me so good. Cause she gets so bubbly.
- 51:04Speaker 3: Or you can stay.
- 51:05Speaker 4: Or you can stay.
- 51:08Speaker 5: That's such a great line.
- 51:10Speaker 4: My God.
- 51:11Speaker 5: So terrifying.
- 51:12Speaker 4: She's so creepy. Um, but yeah, then the one that
- 51:16Speaker 4: you brought up already, um, when she's in the bed
- 51:20Speaker 4: she's like bears like i'm just getting water kill me
- 51:23Speaker 4: please what she's sleeping it's me you are you nikki
- 51:28Speaker 4: please don't wake her up just kill me what would
- 51:31Speaker 4: be so bad what's so bad about being with me.
- 51:36Speaker 5: I've never been with you, bear.
- 51:38Speaker 4: Just kill me, please.
- 51:39Speaker 5: Please, please, please. It's just like begging, please, is so much.
- 51:44Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:45Speaker 5: Yep. What would be so bad?
- 51:48Speaker 4: What would be so bad? What's so bad about being
- 51:51Speaker 4: with me?
- 51:52Speaker 5: He knows that she's screaming in the afterlife right now.
- 51:57Speaker 4: Just the worst.
- 51:58Speaker 5: Yeah, that is funny.
- 52:00Speaker 4: But that's kind of all I wrote down.
- 52:03Speaker 5: And everyone in this room will die never having felt
- 52:06Speaker 5: the strength of connection that I have felt with my bear.
- 52:10Speaker 5: She's like, just kidding, guys. No, I'm not.
- 52:14Speaker 4: Yeah, well, what if I'm not? Or whatever.
- 52:17Speaker 5: Ridiculous. I know we said it earlier, but that line
- 52:22Speaker 5: kills me. The like, does your dad really have cancer?
- 52:25Speaker 5: And she like, I feel like for a second, she's Nikki.
- 52:27Speaker 5: Cause she goes, no. And then it's like, no, no, no.
- 52:31Speaker 5: We're having a nice time.
- 52:33Speaker 4: It's just like, terrifying.
- 52:37Speaker 5: Um, uh, I love when Sarah says, maybe my dad
- 52:41Speaker 5: will let me tattoos, a successful daughter where his hairline
- 52:44Speaker 5: is supposed to start, which I don't like from, you know,
- 52:48Speaker 5: bald jokes are not friendly, but that's a funny, no,
- 52:51Speaker 5: that's pretty good. Pretty funny. um oh and i loved
- 52:57Speaker 5: when he goes back in to the shop looking for
- 53:01Speaker 5: the second make a wish thing or whatever yeah willow
- 53:04Speaker 5: wish willow one wish willow um when he's the shop
- 53:09Speaker 5: guy that just goes first of all sir don't come
- 53:11Speaker 5: in here with this it's too early right second of
- 53:13Speaker 5: all he's so good with you they're right there so
- 53:17Speaker 5: good i liked it i liked it a lot so
- 53:20Speaker 5: much don't come in here with this energy like Just so,
- 53:24Speaker 5: so good. Also, this was deeply uncomfortable, but when Nikki
- 53:30Speaker 5: is like, I'm not saying that you took advantage of
- 53:32Speaker 5: me or anything. And then he goes, Nikki, I didn't.
- 53:35Speaker 5: And she's like, I know. That's why I'm not saying it.
- 53:37Speaker 5: He's like, saying what? And she's like, that you took
- 53:40Speaker 5: advantage of me. Just very unsettling and scary. I didn't
- 53:45Speaker 5: like it. And he's a wiener.
- 53:48Speaker 4: Such a wiener. And he absolutely did take advantage of her.
- 53:52Speaker 5: Yeah, of course he did. nuts also she just yells
- 53:57Speaker 5: stay when he's gonna leave.
- 53:59Speaker 4: The bed yeah when he's gonna leave the bed that
- 54:01Speaker 4: was so great we might have mentioned that but that
- 54:04Speaker 4: freaked me out so bad I was like oh god.
- 54:12Speaker 5: Yeah I guess that's it I think that was all.
- 54:16Speaker 4: The ones I had nice well then let's go to
- 54:19Speaker 4: Bugues Boohoo Moments the crying game I think you were
- 54:23Speaker 4: too scared to cry.
- 54:24Speaker 5: Yeah, that's fair. I didn't boohoo during this. It was
- 54:27Speaker 5: too intense and not in the right way. So, here
- 54:31Speaker 5: we are.
- 54:33Speaker 4: Easy one.
- 54:34Speaker 5: Easy peasy. Let's go to some movie trivia, of which
- 54:37Speaker 5: there's a lot to choose from here. So, I'll try
- 54:40Speaker 5: not to go on. Just stop me if I'm talking
- 54:42Speaker 5: too long. The production was shot for under $ 1 million.
- 54:46Speaker 1: Stop.
- 54:47Speaker 5: Damn it, I knew it. With a reported budget of $ 750, 000. Unbelievable.
- 54:54Speaker 5: Over the 20-day schedule, like we said. Following the film's
- 54:57Speaker 5: midnight madness premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
- 55:01Speaker 4: TIFF.
- 55:03Speaker 5: Oh, I never realized that's what TIFF stood for. Thank you.
- 55:06Speaker 4: That's very helpful. Thank you.
- 55:08Speaker 5: Focus Features acquired the distribution rights for $ 15 million or more.
- 55:13Speaker 5: I don't know why it says Ormore. After a bidding
- 55:15Speaker 5: war concluded within approximately 24 hours, the highest price commanded
- 55:20Speaker 5: by any genre film in the history of the festival,
- 55:23Speaker 5: several distributors pursued the film, including A24 and Neon. But yeah,
- 55:26Speaker 5: so they made it for... That's pretty awesome. $ 750 is
- 55:29Speaker 5: the reported budget, although the director, I think, even said, like,
- 55:33Speaker 5: it's so far below a million, you have no idea, basically.
- 55:37Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 55:38Speaker 5: And $ 15 million was just the distribution rights. Crazy.
- 55:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 55:41Speaker 5: Crazy, crazy. The incredibly small budget meant some sacrifices had
- 55:46Speaker 5: to be made on lighting to compensate in many of
- 55:48Speaker 5: the darker scenes. Indy wore makeup which combined aging effects
- 55:54Speaker 5: on her face and irises painted on over her eyelids.
- 55:58Speaker 4: That's crazy.
- 55:59Speaker 5: So the result is that in those really dark moments,
- 56:02Speaker 5: her face is like kind of in that uncanny valley
- 56:05Speaker 5: kind of thing where she's got almost like the glowingly
- 56:09Speaker 5: black eyes and the image, you know, became like iconic
- 56:13Speaker 5: with this film. But I definitely can remember that. And
- 56:16Speaker 5: I think it's featured on the poster, too, or something.
- 56:19Speaker 5: So but yeah, that was apparently they did that as
- 56:23Speaker 5: a way of dealing with a small budget, which is
- 56:26Speaker 5: kind of great. The creativity that can come out from
- 56:28Speaker 5: some of that stuff is pretty neat, I feel like.
- 56:32Speaker 5: Let's see. Soon after Bear breaks the one-wish willow, Nikki
- 56:36Speaker 5: opens Bear's driver's side door and says, I know what
- 56:39Speaker 5: you're trying to do. She stands up and she goes
- 56:41Speaker 5: to turn right, then left, then turns around, laughs at
- 56:44Speaker 5: herself while Bear laughs too, and repeats, what are you doing? Yeah,
- 56:47Speaker 5: I remember this. uh this was not in this in
- 56:50Speaker 5: the script uh and indy had forgotten if she was
- 56:52Speaker 5: supposed to turn left or right and ends up doing
- 56:54Speaker 5: a 180 uh but they liked it so much that
- 56:58Speaker 5: because it was so weird and fun and fitting.
- 57:00Speaker 4: That they he had a good reaction to it too so.
- 57:02Speaker 5: Good so good so i just thought that was really
- 57:05Speaker 5: fun her like kind of being mixed up and going
- 57:08Speaker 5: back and forth and stuff it was cool uh let's
- 57:12Speaker 5: see in some of the scenes with nikki and bear
- 57:14Speaker 5: before he makes the wish uh the director and Indy
- 57:20Speaker 5: had two different takes of the same scene as Nikki.
- 57:23Speaker 5: One take where she was actually interested and one take
- 57:25Speaker 5: where she wasn't. Both of those scenes that were then
- 57:29Speaker 5: incorporated into the final cut to highlight his uncertainty as
- 57:33Speaker 5: to whether Nikki truly likes him or not, considering the
- 57:36Speaker 5: film is primarily shown through his perspective. But a similar method,
- 57:41Speaker 5: because when I was reading this, I was like, this
- 57:42Speaker 5: sounds familiar, was utilized in American Psycho, where Willem Dafoe
- 57:46Speaker 5: delivered some of his lines three separate times, which were
- 57:49Speaker 5: then alternately used to highlight various levels of suspicion toward
- 57:52Speaker 5: Christian Bale's character. And that feeling of ambiguity. So I
- 57:56Speaker 5: think that's cool. They spliced her being interested and not
- 58:00Speaker 5: interested into one thing, which is interesting. Let's see. Curry
- 58:08Speaker 5: Barker pursued an ambition to shoot the production primarily in
- 58:11Speaker 5: long takes. This approach created a significant editing challenge that
- 58:16Speaker 5: the director learned the hard way because the absence of
- 58:18Speaker 5: coverage left no option to adjust pacing during post-production. And
- 58:23Speaker 5: he now has a better appreciation for, you know, needing
- 58:29Speaker 5: some coverage stuff to be able to manipulate things later.
- 58:32Speaker 5: So that's kind of interesting. Though the music store scenes
- 58:38Speaker 5: in the production were filmed at the Real Castles Music
- 58:41Speaker 5: located in San Fernando, California. It's the same music store
- 58:46Speaker 5: in Wayne's World where Mike Myers' character sees the 64
- 58:51Speaker 5: Fender Strat.
- 58:52Speaker 4: It will be mine.
- 58:53Speaker 5: Oh, yes.
- 58:54Speaker 4: Oh, yes. It will be mine. It will be mine.
- 58:57Speaker 5: That music store closed in 2025 after nearly 78 years
- 59:01Speaker 5: in business, which is pretty wild. And I think they asked,
- 59:05Speaker 5: I don't remember if I wrote it down or not,
- 59:06Speaker 5: if I just read it, but they asked the store
- 59:09Speaker 5: owner to actually, be andy richter's part um but he
- 59:13Speaker 5: declined because i think there was swearing in it or
- 59:15Speaker 5: something so he didn't want to do that and so
- 59:18Speaker 5: that's when they had to cast him but that's pretty
- 59:20Speaker 5: crazy um Oh, so apparently Curry Barker has said that
- 59:29Speaker 5: Indy was she initially surprised him because of how calm
- 59:33Speaker 5: she was when preparing for the shoot. And then he
- 59:35Speaker 5: just said she's one of those people where she was
- 59:38Speaker 5: very reserved in rehearsals. So it was very much a
- 59:40Speaker 5: mystery to me what she was capable of. And then
- 59:43Speaker 5: he recalls the scene where she's kissing Bear on the
- 59:46Speaker 5: bed and flies back. And he says, I looked at
- 59:48Speaker 5: my producer and was like, OK, we got a movie.
- 59:52Speaker 5: And they only did the one take of that where
- 59:55Speaker 5: they like smooched and then she like reels back and
- 59:58Speaker 5: freaks out.
- 59:58Speaker 4: Well, because she switches back to regular Nikki for a second.
- 1:00:03Speaker 5: So good and so cool. So they only did that
- 1:00:06Speaker 5: one time. And that was it was perfect. So. That's
- 1:00:09Speaker 5: really cool. This would weird me out if I were him,
- 1:00:13Speaker 5: but Curry Barker recruited his father, screenwriter and director Jeff Barker,
- 1:00:17Speaker 5: to write Nicky's Hansel and Gretel monologue, wanting freaky Nicky's
- 1:00:20Speaker 5: voice to be different on the page than his own. Yeah,
- 1:00:25Speaker 5: so there's that. Jeff Barker also served as a script
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: consultant on the production and appears on screen as the
- 1:00:30Speaker 5: trivia bar host. So that's fun. Pretty neat.
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: Um.
- 1:00:37Speaker 5: This is the second highest grossing original horror film worldwide
- 1:00:41Speaker 5: after The Sixth Sense, and it surpassed Signs, both of
- 1:00:45Speaker 5: which were directed by M. Night Shyamalan.
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: Yep.
- 1:00:49Speaker 5: Crazy. Some stuff, guys. There's so much trivia if you
- 1:00:54Speaker 5: want to go read it. Go for it. He directed
- 1:01:00Speaker 5: a thing. That doesn't matter. uh i never i didn't
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: catch this but i always think this is fun during
- 1:01:07Speaker 5: a scene uh there's that scene where nikki appears to
- 1:01:09Speaker 5: be reading and she says that line like at least
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: i get to start from the beginning or whatever if
- 1:01:13Speaker 5: i have to read a book uh the book she's
- 1:01:16Speaker 5: holding it's upside down so she's not even actually reading
- 1:01:20Speaker 5: it's showing that she's like you know not really a
- 1:01:23Speaker 5: full human or whatever um uh michael johnston came up
- 1:01:29Speaker 5: with the idea to have bear try to make himself
- 1:01:31Speaker 5: vomit up the pills after checking out uh of overdosing
- 1:01:35Speaker 5: to try to drive home the idea that in the
- 1:01:37Speaker 5: end he's too much of a coward and only thinks
- 1:01:39Speaker 5: of himself so that's brilliant great because that'd be a
- 1:01:42Speaker 5: whole different thing if he didn't do that obviously yeah
- 1:01:45Speaker 5: so i love that um and originally rob the uh
- 1:01:50Speaker 5: head smashing scene was more violent if you can believe
- 1:01:54Speaker 5: it uh after they showed it at tiff They were
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: told that it would have an NC-17 rating, and Barker
- 1:02:02Speaker 5: stated that he was mad that he had to do it,
- 1:02:05Speaker 5: but he removed six or seven head smashes to get
- 1:02:09Speaker 5: it down to an R rating, and then later he
- 1:02:12Speaker 5: was like, actually, it still had its intent, which I
- 1:02:16Speaker 5: think it definitely did. So an extra six or seven
- 1:02:19Speaker 5: head smashes is what we missed out on there.
- 1:02:23Speaker 4: Yeah, that would have been a lot. Maybe too much?
- 1:02:25Speaker 5: I don't know. And I thought this was just wild.
- 1:02:29Speaker 5: Production designer Vivian Gray cut a part of her own
- 1:02:32Speaker 5: mullet to make the hair for Michael Johnston's character in
- 1:02:37Speaker 5: the scene where he gets his hair involuntarily cut off
- 1:02:39Speaker 5: while he's sleeping. So she cut her own hair to
- 1:02:42Speaker 5: then put on him to have cut. Okay. It feels
- 1:02:47Speaker 5: like we have wigs. I don't know what we're doing.
- 1:02:50Speaker 5: yeah what are we doing i'm really sure this is strange.
- 1:02:52Speaker 4: And somebody just wanted a haircut.
- 1:02:54Speaker 5: Just wanted to make it weird and they did so
- 1:02:57Speaker 5: uh there's lots more but that's where i will stop
- 1:03:00Speaker 5: did you have anything.
- 1:03:00Speaker 4: I just had a couple other uh just uh by
- 1:03:03Speaker 4: its third weekend and it grossed 100 to 200 times
- 1:03:07Speaker 4: its production budget and over 10 times what focus features
- 1:03:11Speaker 4: paid to acquire it that's wild Um, and originally Nikki
- 1:03:17Speaker 4: was supposed to die at the end and Curry Barker
- 1:03:19Speaker 4: requested a single take of the unscripted possibility. She Lee,
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: she lives. And that was the, the take that made
- 1:03:27Speaker 4: the final cut, which was awesome.
- 1:03:29Speaker 5: Yeah, that it's great. And it's more disturbing that she lives.
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:03:33Speaker 4: Cause like, yeah.
- 1:03:34Speaker 5: What is she going to do after this? Like, yeah,
- 1:03:37Speaker 5: I guess you would just say he was holding me
- 1:03:39Speaker 5: hostage and, It's tough, man.
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: Can she say that?
- 1:03:43Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:03:44Speaker 4: I wouldn't be surprised if she's in jail for the
- 1:03:46Speaker 4: rest of her life. Rough. Yeah.
- 1:03:48Speaker 5: Especially when she's like, I was possessed. Yeah.
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: Oh, really?
- 1:03:53Speaker 4: Okay, cool. Okay. Yikes.
- 1:03:57Speaker 5: Yikes. Crazy.
- 1:03:59Speaker 3: Will there be a sequel, Judgment Day?
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: Yes.
- 1:04:03Speaker 5: You think there will?
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: It sounds like Barker isn't.
- 1:04:05Speaker 3: No, it sounds like he's in the works of getting
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: a sequel made.
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: Oh.
- 1:04:09Speaker 4: Instead of a direct continuation with the original characters, it
- 1:04:13Speaker 4: will feature a new standalone story focused on a new
- 1:04:16Speaker 4: owner of the cursed One Wish Willow.
- 1:04:19Speaker 5: That makes sense. I was like, what could they do?
- 1:04:22Speaker 5: Although I guess you could deal with her aftermath, but...
- 1:04:25Speaker 5: That'd be a different kind of movie.
- 1:04:26Speaker 4: Which would be interesting. That'd be interesting. I also heard,
- 1:04:30Speaker 4: so before Obsession went to theaters or anything, it sounds
- 1:04:36Speaker 4: like Barker and Tomlinson made another film.
- 1:04:39Speaker 5: Oh, cool.
- 1:04:41Speaker 4: That should be coming out probably in not too long.
- 1:04:45Speaker 4: But at one point, it references the murder-suicide that happens
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: in this film.
- 1:04:50Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, cool.
- 1:04:51Speaker 4: Nice. So that's a part of the same universe, too.
- 1:04:53Speaker 5: So they'll be in the same, yeah, yeah. Like it'll
- 1:04:55Speaker 5: be on a radio program or something or something. That's cool.
- 1:05:00Speaker 5: I like when they do stuff like that. It's neat.
- 1:05:02Speaker 4: Me too.
- 1:05:03Speaker 5: Big fan of that. Cool.
- 1:05:05Speaker 4: But yeah, I just Googled it today and it does
- 1:05:08Speaker 4: sound like Barker. I mean, it made so much money. Yeah.
- 1:05:11Speaker 4: It would be similar.
- 1:05:14Speaker 5: I mean, just say it's in the same universe and
- 1:05:16Speaker 5: write a completely different story that can do whatever it wants.
- 1:05:19Speaker 5: Kind of full, you know, like, yep.
- 1:05:22Speaker 4: And the one wish willow thing is pretty good.
- 1:05:24Speaker 5: That's awesome.
- 1:05:24Speaker 4: Very cool.
- 1:05:26Speaker 5: Yeah. Love it.
- 1:05:27Speaker 4: Do you want to play a game?
- 1:05:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:05:30Speaker 4: I didn't think about the game. We didn't get a
- 1:05:32Speaker 4: last man Stanton going, but, um, we got some cards
- 1:05:36Speaker 4: here or you got some cards there and we can
- 1:05:39Speaker 4: try and nice. Do you want to do the blockbuster
- 1:05:43Speaker 4: movie game or which cards do you have?
- 1:05:45Speaker 5: Great question. I think mine are pictures, so I don't
- 1:05:47Speaker 5: actually think they'll work. Well, it's say what you see
- 1:05:51Speaker 5: movie edition. What does that do?
- 1:05:55Speaker 4: Oh, that might be tough on this for our listeners.
- 1:05:59Speaker 5: Yeah. It's a big pain. Yeah, that's the movie. So
- 1:06:04Speaker 5: probably yours is probably what.
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: We should do.
- 1:06:07Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:06:07Speaker 4: Let's do... I thought I had Blockbuster ones.
- 1:06:10Speaker 5: Maybe I do somewhere.
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: But you got them right there. I got some Blockbuster ones.
- 1:06:13Speaker 5: I got them.
- 1:06:13Speaker 4: Yep. So this is a Blockbuster game. I will get
- 1:06:20Speaker 4: a timer. We're saying one minute because, man... About 20
- 1:06:23Speaker 4: seconds into it, I'm going, uh, I'm not sure. And
- 1:06:28Speaker 4: it happens every time. What are we supposed to do?
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: Something about that timer is tough.
- 1:06:33Speaker 5: I love that.
- 1:06:34Speaker 4: But, yes, so I'll put a minute on the clock.
- 1:06:37Speaker 4: I'll say as many movies as I can, and then
- 1:06:41Speaker 4: you'll go.
- 1:06:41Speaker 5: Cool.
- 1:06:42Speaker 4: And we'll have a grand old time.
- 1:06:43Speaker 3: This is the thing where I leave, right? Yep, you'll
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: have to leave.
- 1:06:47Speaker 5: Okay, I'll be back in a minute.
- 1:06:49Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: All right, Bukes is leaving.
- 1:06:53Speaker 4: And I have the clock right here. I have the
- 1:06:58Speaker 4: cards right here. I have a card.
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: And the card is.
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: Movies where something gets stolen.
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: Um.
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: Oceans 11, Oceans 12, Oceans 13.
- 1:07:15Speaker 4: Tower Heist. Um.
- 1:07:22Speaker 3: Uh, the Thomas crown affair.
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: Um, stealing things.
- 1:07:27Speaker 4: Um, what are more heist movies? Um, uh, uh, baby driver, um, tuner, uh, what.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: Else?
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: Uh, oh, um, hell or high water. Um, The Newton boys.
- 1:07:55Speaker 4: Bank robberies.
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: 311 to Yuma.
- 1:08:03Speaker 5: Stealing.
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: The Dark Knight. All that cash.
- 1:08:09Speaker 5: I remember.
- 1:08:11Speaker 4: Oh my gosh. So I got 12. All right. Oh, buddy.
- 1:08:22Speaker 5: How'd it go?
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: It wasn't horrible.
- 1:08:26Speaker 5: You got a bunch better than.
- 1:08:27Speaker 4: I usually do. But there's still a lot of a
- 1:08:35Speaker 4: lot of that. So, I mean, probably for me, too.
- 1:08:39Speaker 5: That's kind of what these games.
- 1:08:39Speaker 4: Are made of.
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: I was counting like this, so I know how many
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: I got.
- 1:08:44Speaker 5: Oh, good job. That is the hardest part of that game.
- 1:08:46Speaker 5: You've got to keep track.
- 1:08:47Speaker 4: It is. And I'm not going to tell you in
- 1:08:49Speaker 4: case you're trying to reach that number.
- 1:08:52Speaker 5: Oh, okay.
- 1:08:52Speaker 4: So we'll see.
- 1:08:53Speaker 5: I'm scared. Okay.
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: But the listeners know what it is because they said
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: it out loud.
- 1:08:58Speaker 4: That's cool.
- 1:08:59Speaker 5: That's fun.
- 1:09:01Speaker 4: All right. Are you ready?
- 1:09:02Speaker 3: Oh, hold on.
- 1:09:03Speaker 4: I have to get the timer. Okay.
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: Are you ready?
- 1:09:06Speaker 5: I get a minute? Is that what it is?
- 1:09:07Speaker 4: You get one minute.
- 1:09:08Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:09:10Speaker 4: And I will start once I tell you.
- 1:09:11Speaker 5: Okay.
