- 0:18Speaker 1: a legend. His name is Baron Davis, Hey, bar Oatmeal
- 0:24Speaker 1: Believe Get a Bowl.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Well, first of all, I just want to give you
- 0:29Speaker 2: props because I'm a basketball fanatic and you were one
- 0:32Speaker 2: of my favorite players to ever watch. I remember when
- 0:35Speaker 2: you got drafted by the Hornets, like watching like the
- 0:38Speaker 2: early Hornets days. Man, you was like a fucking you
- 0:42Speaker 2: were just like a shot of energy in the league,
- 0:44Speaker 2: like on.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Your size, could dunk on everybody. Like, man, you have
- 0:50Speaker 1: to you know, you have to come in the league
- 0:51Speaker 1: back then, like you have to make a name for yourself.
- 0:55Speaker 1: You know what I mean. You coming in the league
- 0:56Speaker 1: with you know, you got juggernauts. Still you got stop
- 1:00Speaker 1: some malons, like because when you get drafted ninety ninety nine.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Yeah, so that's like, yeah, Penny was still around, uh.
- 1:07Speaker 1: Everybody every day. It was just coming into his own.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Steve Nash just was coming into his own. So it
- 1:13Speaker 1: was like the the it was kind of before the
- 1:15Speaker 1: wild point guard renaissance. Yeah, like midw I would say,
- 1:20Speaker 1: we had a hell of a point guard renaissance. So
- 1:23Speaker 1: my air is pretty you know well, I mean yeah,
- 1:25Speaker 1: I mean especially I think that was the start because
- 1:27Speaker 1: you were coming in while a lot of those guys
- 1:29Speaker 1: like stocked In and the traditional point guard Mark Jackson
- 1:34Speaker 1: were going out. Yeah, Mark Jackson was a post up
- 1:36Speaker 1: point guard. Ros Strickland was to get to the whole
- 1:39Speaker 1: type of point guard. So they was all k was there. Yeah,
- 1:42Speaker 1: I was in his prime.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Now I still don't know because I hear people consider
- 1:45Speaker 2: him like he's more of a shooting He was a
- 1:47Speaker 2: guard on that team. Yeah, Eric Snow was the point guard. Yeah,
- 1:49Speaker 2: he was a scoring guard. I remember those battles man,
- 1:53Speaker 2: you against that dude.
- 1:54Speaker 1: He was sick. Yeah. Yo.
- 1:57Speaker 2: I wanted to talk to you because I feel like
- 1:59Speaker 2: correct if I'm wrong. I remember seeing something when I
- 2:02Speaker 2: was like younger, when you were in the league. Were
- 2:07Speaker 2: you throwing up your neighborhood like ever on video, like
- 2:10Speaker 2: when you were like making shots and shit? Because that
- 2:13Speaker 2: never happened, okay, Because I wanted to ask you about
- 2:15Speaker 2: how you feel about the job and ran shit because
- 2:17Speaker 2: I was in the job rane kind of interesting, and
- 2:20Speaker 2: you were obviously a young kid who came from a
- 2:23Speaker 2: serious area of LA got drafted into the league.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I'm sure you dealt with a lot of shit. I
- 2:27Speaker 1: was just guilty by association. But I mean I don't
- 2:31Speaker 1: I don't remember, you know, maybe off the court, but
- 2:35Speaker 1: I don't remember. Like on the court, maybe I did.
- 2:38Speaker 1: You know, sometimes you get hype, you know what I'm saying,
- 2:40Speaker 1: like anything happened. But obviously you you know, we did
- 2:44Speaker 1: a lot back then. You feel what I'm saying. It
- 2:46Speaker 1: was a lot. We did a lot back then, and
- 2:50Speaker 1: there was a lot of you know, if we had
- 2:52Speaker 1: social media back then, everybody will be like have horrible
- 2:57Speaker 1: Tarnus images, you know what I mean, because it was
- 3:00Speaker 1: just you know, back in the day, like you could
- 3:03Speaker 1: win no camera phones, so like whatever was cracking, you know,
- 3:07Speaker 1: right then and there it was what was cracking, Like
- 3:10Speaker 1: you have to have a video person, You have to
- 3:13Speaker 1: tell somebody bring a camera, you know what I mean.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Back then, So you know a lot of people was
- 3:18Speaker 1: like not so much getting in trouble, like cause I
- 3:20Speaker 1: don't think John Morett is in trouble, you know what
- 3:23Speaker 1: I mean? Like he did some you know, some stupid shit, right,
- 3:26Speaker 1: but at the same time, like we've been doing like
- 3:29Speaker 1: we've been doing stupid shit for the longest time, long time.
- 3:32Speaker 1: You know, a microscope. Yeah, yeah, it's under a microscope.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Because you know, I was saying to uh, just to
- 3:41Speaker 1: my friends, Man, I'm you know, I cried on my
- 3:44Speaker 1: twenty fifth birthday. I cried on my thirtieth birthday, and
- 3:48Speaker 1: on my thirty fifth birthday, I was like, damn, dude,
- 3:50Speaker 1: I'm gonna make it. I'm gonna actually live, you know
- 3:52Speaker 1: what I mean. And so just thinking about, you know,
- 3:55Speaker 1: that journey from the time I got drafted to the
- 3:58Speaker 1: time I hit thirty was just it was just a
- 4:00Speaker 1: lot coming back home, you know what I mean, having
- 4:04Speaker 1: to deal with that, you know, being on the road
- 4:06Speaker 1: people you know, just during the season, people think you
- 4:09Speaker 1: SAWT say something to you. You know, you gotta go
- 4:11Speaker 1: find him in off season and see if it's real,
- 4:14Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like just wow, you know
- 4:16Speaker 1: what I mean. And like I think, once I kind
- 4:19Speaker 1: of got to go to the state, you know, things
- 4:22Speaker 1: just start kind of like leveling out. I was like, man,
- 4:24Speaker 1: let me change, let me change who I am, and like,
- 4:28Speaker 1: I don't need to be this. This is not me,
- 4:29Speaker 1: you know what I mean. I'm not I'm not like,
- 4:32Speaker 1: I'm not like this, you know, I want to be
- 4:34Speaker 1: What do you have to prove? Like I didn't have shit?
- 4:36Speaker 2: You're you know you're a millionaire on TV every day
- 4:40Speaker 2: you ain't.
- 4:40Speaker 1: At the same time, like, bro, I'm scared to die. Yeah,
- 4:44Speaker 1: it's real out here, you know what I mean, Like
- 4:47Speaker 1: they shoot at athletes out here back in the day, crazy, right,
- 4:50Speaker 1: Remember Jalen Rose got shot at. Why are you shooting
- 4:54Speaker 1: at Jalen Rose? Right? Who the fuck shoots at Jalen Rose?
- 5:00Speaker 1: You know what I mean? And he was on Sunset,
- 5:02Speaker 1: so that just you know, for me, it was just
- 5:03Speaker 1: like that era was a lot of jacking, you know.
- 5:07Speaker 1: It was a lot of pressure, extortion. You know, the
- 5:10Speaker 1: NBA players are getting extorted, Paul Day, NBA players, rappers, uh, musicians,
- 5:18Speaker 1: anybody came to LA. It was just not a good
- 5:21Speaker 1: place to be, you know what I mean. Like if
- 5:23Speaker 1: you got found or you was out shopping. It like
- 5:25Speaker 1: if if you can stay low cool, but back then
- 5:29Speaker 1: if you was, you was on the move and you
- 5:31Speaker 1: get caught it. I mean, you at Thay mercy.
- 5:34Speaker 2: I was gonna say, because I always like, like, obviously
- 5:37Speaker 2: a lot of the stuff is highly back to the
- 5:40Speaker 2: camera phones thing. We see a lot more of the
- 5:43Speaker 2: people getting robbed on Sunset or on Melrose, and it's like, yeah,
- 5:46Speaker 2: that kind of shit has always been happening in LA.
- 5:48Speaker 2: But I feel like back in the day it was
- 5:50Speaker 2: really like peak, you kind of had to come to
- 5:53Speaker 2: LA and like if you were gonna move around, you
- 5:57Speaker 2: really had to be in line with some guys to
- 5:59Speaker 2: make sure that there wasn't any sort of.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, that was the whole Like, uh, the tap
- 6:04Speaker 1: In era, the tap In era, people's chains were getting
- 6:07Speaker 1: took people. Yeah, you get the chain back, We got it.
- 6:10Speaker 1: I mean, you know, I got a couple of chains
- 6:12Speaker 1: back from some for some uh some rappers actually no
- 6:15Speaker 1: basketball players who changed, you get.
- 6:21Speaker 2: We don't talk like that.
- 6:24Speaker 1: I don't even know what labeled the I just know
- 6:27Speaker 1: they one of my favorite, you know, one of my favorites. Uh,
- 6:31Speaker 1: you know, a couple of rappers, man, just that's just
- 6:34Speaker 1: how it be, you know what I mean, Like couple
- 6:36Speaker 1: rappers just like come to and you gotta think like
- 6:42Speaker 1: coming up in that game era, the era with the game.
- 6:45Speaker 1: When Game was first starting to like break out, like,
- 6:48Speaker 1: it was no blood rappers. It wasn't no bloods famous period,
- 6:54Speaker 1: you know what I mean.
- 6:55Speaker 2: Yeah, if you really think outside of Mac ten, Yeah
- 6:57Speaker 2: it was Mac ten and then and then the game,
- 7:00Speaker 2: and then everybody was a blood.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Everybody started being bloods, you know what I mean. So
- 7:03Speaker 1: imagine like rocking with a blood that is on his
- 7:09Speaker 1: way up, you know what I mean. In LA. So
- 7:11Speaker 1: it was a lot to deal with with that.
- 7:13Speaker 2: And he was the face of LA for like a decade.
- 7:15Speaker 2: He carried the whole coast for like a very long.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Shit and and I think it just kind of for me,
- 7:22Speaker 1: like hanging with Game made me realize that, Okay, men,
- 7:28Speaker 1: my plan was me and Game rocking together. I mean,
- 7:31Speaker 1: he can unify the music, I can unify the hoop,
- 7:34Speaker 1: and then we can create this l a unified system
- 7:38Speaker 1: where like we can make it better for dudes, you
- 7:40Speaker 1: know what I mean, Like we can stop all the
- 7:43Speaker 1: jacket and shit like that. You know what I'm saying,
- 7:45Speaker 1: Like at least if they're fucking with us, they rolling
- 7:48Speaker 1: with us, they ain't gonna get jacked, You don't gonna
- 7:51Speaker 1: get robbed, ain't gonna get into no funny business, you
- 7:53Speaker 1: know what I mean? And like that was the goal
- 7:55Speaker 1: is really Like once I saw that, I was like, man,
- 7:59Speaker 1: like Nip coming, Domn coming. You know. YG had had
- 8:02Speaker 1: a couple of songs, but YG was on his what
- 8:05Speaker 1: you know what I mean. It was a bunch of
- 8:06Speaker 1: dudes just like on They Rise. And I was like, damn, dude, Kendrick,
- 8:12Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Jay Rock was out, but
- 8:14Speaker 1: Jay Rock was like on his wife. So like, I
- 8:17Speaker 1: remember we did the Gang, the Cripson Bloods Gang documentary,
- 8:20Speaker 1: and I was like, man, I need to put a
- 8:22Speaker 1: soundtrack together, and on the soundtrack it's all them dudes,
- 8:25Speaker 1: like damn their first soundtrack, right, I remember album? How
- 8:29Speaker 1: long ago was that documentary?
- 8:31Speaker 3: I think I want to say twelve four. I think
- 8:36Speaker 3: two thousand and four.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Jesus Christ, Yeah, it was like two thousand and four
- 8:41Speaker 1: or when I got to Yeah, it was like two
- 8:44Speaker 1: thousand and four. I think I was in New Orleans
- 8:46Speaker 1: when that came out.
- 8:48Speaker 2: When you end up on the Clippers, being a guy
- 8:51Speaker 2: who's from where you're from, playing in LA obviously not
- 8:56Speaker 2: for the Lakers, but playing for the Clippers, sure, you
- 8:58Speaker 2: guys have a very very entertaining team. But was it
- 9:02Speaker 2: like how much of the like extra shit did you
- 9:05Speaker 2: have to deal with it?
- 9:06Speaker 1: Being home all of it? Uh, you know what, like
- 9:10Speaker 1: being playing for the Clippers, Like and I never really
- 9:12Speaker 1: talk about that shit because people always talk about Doun
- 9:15Speaker 1: Levy or Donald Sterling, you know what I mean, But
- 9:18Speaker 1: just playing for the Clippers. Like my mission when I
- 9:21Speaker 1: left Golden State was like, all right, I know the
- 9:23Speaker 1: Clippers are the Clippers. I'm coming back home to hopefully
- 9:29Speaker 1: do what I did in Golden State. I told Golden State,
- 9:31Speaker 1: give me three years, you know what I mean, with
- 9:33Speaker 1: being the playoffs if we get the right people around,
- 9:36Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Like, that's what I like,
- 9:39Speaker 1: that's what I wanted to do. So coming here it
- 9:41Speaker 1: was like, yeah, if I can get the Clippers to
- 9:44Speaker 1: the playoffs, if I can turn the Clippers around, then
- 9:47Speaker 1: there'll be a whole different story, you know what I mean,
- 9:49Speaker 1: so historical, it would have been historical, and so like
- 9:53Speaker 1: that was kind of like my mission. It was like
- 9:55Speaker 1: I need to get through those first three years because
- 9:58Speaker 1: the first three years is all bullshit, you know what
- 10:00Speaker 1: I mean. You gotta clean up, you know, all of
- 10:03Speaker 1: just negative shit that be going around and you gotta
- 10:05Speaker 1: protect your teammates, and then you gotta build your teammates
- 10:09Speaker 1: to where they feel like they can walk in like
- 10:11Speaker 1: we walking in the season and like it's just us,
- 10:14Speaker 1: you know what I mean, And then it's us and
- 10:16Speaker 1: the coaches and then everybody else. It's our family, you
- 10:19Speaker 1: know what I mean. And I think with the Clippers,
- 10:21Speaker 1: it was just that's it was just hard, bro. That's
- 10:24Speaker 1: it was just hard because it was a lot of racism, sexism, backstabbing,
- 10:29Speaker 1: people telling lines, snitching and shit. And I was like, man,
- 10:32Speaker 1: I thought we came to work to play basketball. So
- 10:34Speaker 1: all of the Donald Sterling shit was very accurate, extremely
- 10:39Speaker 1: extremely accurate, you know, I mean, besides him, you know,
- 10:44Speaker 1: being like a piece of shit in the scum of
- 10:46Speaker 1: the earth, Like he's actually that speaking of extorted, he
- 10:49Speaker 1: got shopped down for real. Sure he got him on
- 10:52Speaker 1: camera video. Yeah she did him dirty. But he deserved it.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Hell yeah, he deserves. He deserved way more than that, bro,
- 11:00Speaker 1: you know what I mean, You desive a lot worse
- 11:02Speaker 1: than that.
- 11:04Speaker 2: It's crazy because I went from having this like like
- 11:10Speaker 2: genuine like love for the Warriors growing up as a kid.
- 11:13Speaker 2: They were kind of like that fun team to always watch.
- 11:15Speaker 2: And then obviously the era of you, Michael Petrice, Barnes,
- 11:20Speaker 2: Jay rich was such a dope era. But then fast
- 11:24Speaker 2: forward to this whole lass like decade of basketball. I
- 11:29Speaker 2: fucking cannot stand these Warrior fans now again, because they
- 11:33Speaker 2: knew they're new.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Listen. I lived in Tampa, Florida.
- 11:37Speaker 2: I was doing rady on Tampa at the time when
- 11:38Speaker 2: the Steph Curry and and and the lebron and shit
- 11:42Speaker 2: was happening. And I'm in Tampa, and all of a sudden,
- 11:45Speaker 2: there's just this influx of hardcore Warriors fans in the
- 11:48Speaker 2: middle of Florida. And I'm like, where were y'all when
- 11:53Speaker 2: Mitch Richmond was there, Chris Mullen, Yeah, Baron Davis. But
- 11:59Speaker 2: it it's crazy because you have such like a place
- 12:02Speaker 2: in Bay Area history, in Warrior history. What is it
- 12:06Speaker 2: like for you to kind of you like, the Warriors
- 12:08Speaker 2: are kind of like a forgotten franchise and I feel
- 12:10Speaker 2: like you helped kind of re establish them on the map,
- 12:13Speaker 2: but now they're like the franchise. Ye, what's that like
- 12:17Speaker 2: to kind of just witness like.
- 12:19Speaker 1: It's amazing, man, you know, I just consider myself the
- 12:23Speaker 1: curse breaker. You are the curse breaker. I am definitely
- 12:26Speaker 1: the cursebreaker. Uh. And I you know, I just kind
- 12:30Speaker 1: of like I love watching the Warriors play. They played
- 12:33Speaker 1: the right way. I'm a huge Steph Curry fan. I
- 12:36Speaker 1: never forget saying to the Warriors, like when I signed
- 12:40Speaker 1: with the Clippers, like y'all don't even like y'all gonna
- 12:42Speaker 1: forget about me, like this kid is he's next, he's
- 12:44Speaker 1: your future. And when they win the championship, I feel
- 12:48Speaker 1: like I went to you know what I mean? Uh,
- 12:51Speaker 1: And you know I was. I would say, just for
- 12:53Speaker 1: us with that, we would leave squad and me in
- 12:56Speaker 1: the Bay Area. It wasn't just on the court, it
- 12:59Speaker 1: was off the court. Is being accessible to people in Oakland,
- 13:02Speaker 1: San Francisco, in the hood, in corporate, in tech and
- 13:06Speaker 1: so like, you know, the Bay Area to me is home.
- 13:10Speaker 1: And that's hard to say before La, dude, you know
- 13:13Speaker 1: what I mean, But it's like I got I got
- 13:15Speaker 1: real family, real real people who take care of me,
- 13:18Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Uh, in the Bay Area.
- 13:21Speaker 1: So like whether I'm in LA or the Bay's, no,
- 13:24Speaker 1: there's no difference, and there's definitely no hate. You know
- 13:28Speaker 1: what I'm saying in between anymore. So you know, my
- 13:31Speaker 1: goal was just when I went to Golden State was like, yo,
- 13:34Speaker 1: like we got to establish ourselves as somebody, you know
- 13:37Speaker 1: what I mean. Like we can't just be like the
- 13:40Speaker 1: dead corpse, you know what I mean that a Pacific Division.
- 13:43Speaker 1: We got to have at least a style. So if
- 13:46Speaker 1: we get beat, like whattherfucker's it's like, oh, good game,
- 13:48Speaker 1: that's you know what I mean, Like I got game work. Yeah.
- 13:51Speaker 1: But when when I got there, that shit was dead.
- 13:54Speaker 1: It was you know, it was just like a lot
- 13:55Speaker 1: of dead energy and dudes didn't even want to play basketball.
- 13:58Speaker 1: So for me, it was like, how the fuck don't
- 14:01Speaker 1: you want to play basketball? This is like how you
- 14:03Speaker 1: relieve your stress, your mental health, all that shit, Like
- 14:06Speaker 1: basketball was that. And so once we kind of like
- 14:09Speaker 1: got to a point, I think the city was just
- 14:11Speaker 1: like hold on, Like we got people who actually care
- 14:16Speaker 1: because nobody liked before whether you wanted to be there
- 14:19Speaker 1: or not, you didn't know because they just kept trading
- 14:21Speaker 1: coaches and players in and out. You know, Don Nelson
- 14:26Speaker 1: Mike Montgomery was the coach when I first got there,
- 14:29Speaker 1: and then we had a little success at the end
- 14:31Speaker 1: of the year, and then they brought him back, which
- 14:34Speaker 1: was a bad move for the second year, and he
- 14:37Speaker 1: started coaching you know what I mean, which is yeah,
- 14:42Speaker 1: not probably something he can really do well, Ladies of
- 14:46Speaker 1: good dude. And then Don Nelson came in after Mike Montgomery. Yeah. Crazy,
- 14:54Speaker 1: and then we believe the year Dog it was crazy. Uh,
- 14:58Speaker 1: you know, we sucked that year year. I mean, you
- 15:00Speaker 1: guys are the eight seeds, you get the playoffs barely,
- 15:04Speaker 1: like uh at all. At All Star Break, there was
- 15:09Speaker 1: like we were the odd person out, kind of like
- 15:12Speaker 1: the Lakers this year. They were the thirteen seed at
- 15:16Speaker 1: the All Star That's exactly where we were. And then
- 15:19Speaker 1: all of a sudden, we just hit a run, like
- 15:22Speaker 1: we figured it out, you know what I mean, Like.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Were you there the year that Steph got drafted or
- 15:27Speaker 2: was that in the off season traded off season?
- 15:30Speaker 1: Yeah, so we missed the playoffs. I go to the Clippers.
- 15:37Speaker 1: The Clippers have a bad year, the Warriors have a
- 15:40Speaker 1: bad year. The Warriors draft Steph Curry. You know, Pick,
- 15:44Speaker 1: I think.
- 15:44Speaker 2: I'm a huge Stuns fan, and I have to ask
- 15:47Speaker 2: you because you and this guy aren't necessarily tied together
- 15:51Speaker 2: but you guys do have some kind of coincidential yet
- 15:56Speaker 2: it's you and because obviously you leave the Clippers. He yeah,
- 16:01Speaker 2: for sure, you leave the Hornets Chris Paul team. What's
- 16:09Speaker 2: your relationship like with CP and is there I mean, listen,
- 16:13Speaker 2: I have friends on the Suns, and I would say
- 16:16Speaker 2: most of my friends are not.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Too fond of Chris.
- 16:20Speaker 2: What is your like does he get a bad rap
- 16:22Speaker 2: amongst other NBA players? And how's your guys' relationship because
- 16:24Speaker 2: you guys are kind of tied together with two friendchies.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, and crazy enough. I got all the love
- 16:31Speaker 1: and respect for Chris Paul when Chris Paul was at
- 16:34Speaker 1: Wake Forest. I called Chris Paul when I was in
- 16:36Speaker 1: the league, like, yo, bro, I fox with you. I
- 16:39Speaker 1: think his grandfather died. I was like, man, shouting you out,
- 16:43Speaker 1: like you gonna you know what I mean, just like
- 16:45Speaker 1: kind of like you know, we're brotherhood at the end
- 16:47Speaker 1: of the day, for sure. So like me and Chris
- 16:49Speaker 1: have always been linked like that. And so when I
- 16:52Speaker 1: left Charlotte, New Orleans and he came in, I kind
- 16:57Speaker 1: of figure like, all right, I'm gonna clean this ship
- 16:59Speaker 1: up and then I'm gonna let Chris Paul. Then Chris
- 17:02Speaker 1: Paul gonna come in and take it, you know, to
- 17:04Speaker 1: another level. But you know, I just think as a player,
- 17:07Speaker 1: like he's an incredible point guard, you know what I mean.
- 17:10Speaker 1: I think that's end.
- 17:11Speaker 2: Yeah, he's a rising guy. Feels like with like his teammates.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Yeah, he's a big personality. I think when you look
- 17:16Speaker 1: at him, you think, you know, CEO president, you know
- 17:20Speaker 1: what I mean, Corporate Players Associations President of NBA players.
- 17:25Speaker 1: So when you're looking at that, you know, at your
- 17:27Speaker 1: leader out there on the floor, you know, like he
- 17:30Speaker 1: he coming with a full corporate you know what I mean,
- 17:33Speaker 1: corporate like he running it. He running that team away.
- 17:36Speaker 1: He want to run a team. You feel very much
- 17:38Speaker 1: a coach on the floor. Big guy. Yeah, he'll be
- 17:41Speaker 1: a great He'll be an excellent coach, for sure. He
- 17:43Speaker 1: will be an excellent coach.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Yeah, he's like like you said, like he's he's very
- 17:48Speaker 2: much he's running the team.
- 17:50Speaker 1: He's just he he come in like his ship is
- 17:53Speaker 1: corporate business.
- 17:54Speaker 2: You've played for a lot of coaches and I do
- 17:56Speaker 2: feel like that. We'll see certain teams like make a
- 18:00Speaker 2: coaching change, and it's like day and night right, How
- 18:04Speaker 2: important is coach like a coach like on an NBA team,
- 18:09Speaker 2: Because a lot of times you'll hear, I guess, generic
- 18:12Speaker 2: basketball fans, it's about it's in the players hands, like
- 18:14Speaker 2: the players ain't performing.
- 18:16Speaker 1: Man, No, it's it's you played for some bad coaches.
- 18:18Speaker 1: You played for some great coaches. Play play for some
- 18:21Speaker 1: terrible coaches. I played for some great coaches too. I
- 18:25Speaker 1: played for some coaches that had we had one or
- 18:30Speaker 1: two other pieces, they would have been Hall of Fame. Come.
- 18:32Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Championship coaches, the team dynamic
- 18:37Speaker 1: and the coach dynamic, Like you need a good coach.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Good coaches are hard to come by. What determines a
- 18:43Speaker 1: good coach? You know what I mean? A lot of
- 18:45Speaker 1: coaches when they come into the business, they like they
- 18:48Speaker 1: have established who they are, their style, what they're gonna do.
- 18:54Speaker 1: A lot of times coaches that are players separate themselves
- 19:01Speaker 1: from the players today in order to be okay coaching. Then,
- 19:07Speaker 1: you know what I mean.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Seems like at times like if there's a guy who
- 19:10Speaker 2: used to play, they kind.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Of Mike, Hey, dude, Mike Dunlevy, he played in the league,
- 19:16Speaker 1: and all he would talk about in reference is when
- 19:20Speaker 1: he played, which was like in the fucking seventies. Gives
- 19:22Speaker 1: a fuck, You're not like you're and you're a point guard.
- 19:27Speaker 1: So like I used to always be like like, yeah,
- 19:28Speaker 1: when I play, I said, coach, if you played in
- 19:31Speaker 1: this Ara Bro sweater, guy, I elbow you in your face.
- 19:34Speaker 1: I follow you to the locker room, elbow you again. Well,
- 19:38Speaker 1: he wasn't a great He was not that great of coach.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Mike Dunnet. He was tough. He wan't to get along.
- 19:44Speaker 1: He he he was his son. Never on your guys team. No.
- 19:47Speaker 1: I played with Mike Mike Jr. Mike Jr. Is dope.
- 19:49Speaker 1: He was cool. I played with Mike Jr. And Golden State.
- 19:53Speaker 1: He actually got he was the trade. He was the
- 19:55Speaker 1: person that they traded to Indiana for stat Uh and
- 20:00Speaker 1: Al Harrington. But like that's your crazy team.
- 20:02Speaker 2: It was a it was a how much weed was
- 20:04Speaker 2: getting passed around in that and those off off season
- 20:07Speaker 2: when you guys were like, you know, how they move together?
- 20:10Speaker 2: Everybody was one of the highest teams in the NBA.
- 20:14Speaker 1: It was up.
- 20:14Speaker 2: It was you had Al Harrington, Stephen John Well, he's
- 20:19Speaker 2: got a week now.
- 20:21Speaker 1: But it's all yeah, But he he based that off
- 20:24Speaker 1: his grandma. And then Matt Barnes, Matt Barnes pothead. Oh
- 20:28Speaker 1: my good, Stephen Jackson podhead. I'm smoking. I'm a smoker.
- 20:37Speaker 1: I'm not a pot heead just I mean, I wouldn't
- 20:39Speaker 1: say that I'm a I'm a smoke, but I ain't
- 20:42Speaker 1: no pot. You know. I guess now maybe how crazy.
- 20:45Speaker 2: Was like the Bay Area night life scene in like
- 20:48Speaker 2: not crazy, not crazy because it still wasn't crazy.
- 20:51Speaker 1: It's not crazy, but it was up, you know what
- 20:53Speaker 1: I mean when we was winning, it was up because.
- 20:55Speaker 2: That was like right after like the hyph Era was
- 20:58Speaker 2: like it was it was in the middle of it
- 21:00Speaker 2: was almost it was Yeah, we were still getting Hyphie
- 21:04Speaker 2: and ship.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Uh you know, to kick the sneak we was running.
- 21:07Speaker 1: We was running that up. Uh who else was we
- 21:11Speaker 1: running out? Mister fab has federation. Federation that was old,
- 21:14Speaker 1: that was older. Yeah, we was, Uh obviously forty is
- 21:17Speaker 1: always forty. Forty was cool. Let me ask you. Forty
- 21:20Speaker 1: wasn't around when we was forty was not? I was
- 21:23Speaker 1: gonna ask forty wasn't around, Ron.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Rolle, forty forty went, whether we believe you no, never
- 21:30Speaker 2: we have to talk forty next time I see him
- 21:31Speaker 2: and be like, you know, didd he said, you wasn't there, bro, No,
- 21:34Speaker 2: he wasn't there.
- 21:34Speaker 1: He went, No, he he showed up a couple of
- 21:37Speaker 1: times and ship. But you gotta think like in that time,
- 21:40Speaker 1: he forty was touring and traveling. True, he had to
- 21:44Speaker 1: the joint ghetto report the ship with fab and all that.
- 21:48Speaker 1: So for us, it was like shit, if he forty
- 21:49Speaker 1: would have came to the game, it would have like
- 21:52Speaker 1: we matched E forty. You feel what I'm saying, Like
- 21:55Speaker 1: our energy match E forty. Like we we the ones
- 21:57Speaker 1: who started telling the Warriors, ya, why we playing Bay
- 22:00Speaker 1: Area music when we at home? You know what I mean.
- 22:03Speaker 1: I remember, I'm only in town for the uh oh
- 22:07Speaker 1: yeah mister yeah. Like we've been yeah life for the party.
- 22:12Speaker 1: So we've been in layups and somebody lay up like this,
- 22:15Speaker 1: everybody just start dancing and ship fuck the lambs. We
- 22:18Speaker 1: just start grooving in the lawn. It was cool, man.
- 22:20Speaker 1: We had a We had a great fun team, and
- 22:23Speaker 1: it matched the personality of the city, of the city
- 22:27Speaker 1: of the whole entire Bay you know what I mean.
- 22:30Speaker 1: Because it wasn't just like, oh, we was stugging out,
- 22:33Speaker 1: smoking weed and ship like that. Like, no, we was
- 22:35Speaker 1: doing a lot. Bro. I was like, I just start
- 22:37Speaker 1: getting in tech. You know. Matt and Stacked, they were
- 22:40Speaker 1: always in the city doing you know, dope charity work.
- 22:43Speaker 1: Monte was doing. You know, was a young young boy
- 22:48Speaker 1: and he was a young he was a young dog.
- 22:50Speaker 1: He was a young dog. Jack Rich had been there
- 22:53Speaker 1: for five six, seven years doing everything. Rich is a beast.
- 22:57Speaker 1: He gave the Sons a couple of great years. Man,
- 23:00Speaker 1: Jay rich Man, when we when I when I got there,
- 23:04Speaker 1: I was like, man, I remember sitting on the bus
- 23:07Speaker 1: and we was all like, man, can we make a playoff?
- 23:10Speaker 2: Run?
- 23:10Speaker 1: YadA YadA. We was like in the middle of the run,
- 23:12Speaker 1: I said, Man, we gotta do this shit for Jay
- 23:15Speaker 1: rich This man has been in this organization for seven years,
- 23:20Speaker 1: five years and had eight coaches in five years. And
- 23:24Speaker 1: all j Rich wanted to do was get to the playoffs.
- 23:27Speaker 1: He was the best teammate. He wanted to hoop and
- 23:29Speaker 1: get to the playoffs. And he kept playing hurt you
- 23:32Speaker 1: know what I mean, shit like that. And I remember,
- 23:34Speaker 1: because I was a little older in my career, was
- 23:38Speaker 1: like this because of injuries, like I didn't give a fuck.
- 23:41Speaker 1: I just wanted to play because a lot of injuries
- 23:44Speaker 1: in your career, and it was harder to not play
- 23:47Speaker 1: because all the ship that was going on that you
- 23:50Speaker 1: can get involved in when you just hurt and not playing,
- 23:53Speaker 1: and people got access when I'm playing, Yeah, I'm busy.
- 23:58Speaker 1: I ain't got no time. So I think, you know,
- 24:00Speaker 1: even with j Rich, he kept coming back hurt and
- 24:03Speaker 1: I was like, man, take your time, come back, bro,
- 24:05Speaker 1: cause like you well we need you know what I mean?
- 24:08Speaker 1: And like I was just happy that we make the
- 24:10Speaker 1: playoffs because like, if you feel our energy, like it
- 24:13Speaker 1: was all like, yo, we gotta get to the playoffs
- 24:16Speaker 1: with Jay Rich, Jay Rich, you gotta get in the playoffs.
- 24:18Speaker 1: Like you in the playoffs, you're gonna go crazy. And
- 24:21Speaker 1: he did. He did. What's up y'all?

- 26:50Speaker 2: they crack your window and take your shit.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Na uh uh you know that's the thing in the
- 26:55Speaker 1: bay maybe bipping. It's called bipsitty Oh is it? I
- 26:58Speaker 1: know that?
- 26:58Speaker 2: So like now if you go to the Bay and
- 27:01Speaker 2: hein't got no car, I'm taking Like if you have
- 27:04Speaker 2: a rental, they say, like anybody will tell you you
- 27:08Speaker 2: roll your windows down and you pop your trunk open
- 27:10Speaker 2: when you park. So that way, when you're going to
- 27:12Speaker 2: your restaurant, you're going to the hotel or whatever, nippers will.
- 27:15Speaker 1: Drive by and they've already been. It's been here.
- 27:18Speaker 2: No no, no, no, they won't even bother it because
- 27:20Speaker 2: they'll know ain't nothing in there. The thing is is
- 27:23Speaker 2: they'll crack your window even if they don't see anything.
- 27:26Speaker 2: The windows getting cracked, no matter, just because it's an
- 27:28Speaker 2: inconvenience state. Everybody to pop the trunk take everything in that.
- 27:37Speaker 1: It's wild, super crazy ship.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Yo, talk to me about the U c l A
- 27:44Speaker 2: Days man, because uh, one of my best friends is
- 27:47Speaker 2: a U c l A. Brewing and he was in
- 27:50Speaker 2: college in a fraternity when you were playing, and he
- 27:54Speaker 2: was just like so excited when I told him that
- 27:57Speaker 2: you were going to be on the show. Uh, what
- 27:59Speaker 2: was like the energy being because an LA kid at
- 28:03Speaker 2: U c l A. Obviously that was crazy. You guys
- 28:07Speaker 2: were really good.
- 28:09Speaker 1: Yeah. We we had once again some problems my freshman year.
- 28:14Speaker 1: Shae Cotton, they didn't let it he was supposed to
- 28:16Speaker 1: come with us. Uh. And then Jelani and Chris they
- 28:19Speaker 1: got caught up, you know, for smoking during like the
- 28:23Speaker 1: first year or whatnot. And so we kind of played
- 28:26Speaker 1: like everybody played out of position. My freshman year we
- 28:31Speaker 1: started two point guards. Toby Pailey played like the three,
- 28:34Speaker 1: Chris Johnson played the four, Jr. Henderson played the five.
- 28:37Speaker 1: And so it was crazy because we had all the talent.
- 28:42Speaker 1: If our if our team would have potentially came together,
- 28:46Speaker 1: you know what I mean, and we could have sustained it.
- 28:48Speaker 1: We had all the talent to go out and win it.
- 28:50Speaker 1: So U c LA it's all about winning national championships
- 28:54Speaker 1: for sure. So for me it was just like, man, like,
- 28:56Speaker 1: I want to win the national championship, but I also
- 28:59Speaker 1: want to like this bitch on fire, you know what,
- 29:01Speaker 1: I mean, like let's send it up, you know, and
- 29:03Speaker 1: so you know cross Is dunks all that, like we
- 29:08Speaker 1: were there that like no matter what we're gonna we're
- 29:11Speaker 1: gonna create some entertainment, you know what I mean. Growing
- 29:14Speaker 1: up watching U C l A basketball, it was always
- 29:16Speaker 1: like they were always good, always highlights. So I was like, man,
- 29:20Speaker 1: I gotta go there and like I gotta make sure
- 29:23Speaker 1: I get my highlights, you know what I mean, like
- 29:25Speaker 1: they remember me. Yeah, it was more so like they
- 29:28Speaker 1: have to remember me, Like I can't just be you know,
- 29:31Speaker 1: a traditional point guard. They got good stats and make
- 29:33Speaker 1: All Conference. Now I gotta do some ship where these
- 29:36Speaker 1: people are gonna remember me, you know what I mean.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Do you feel like USC has slowly taken over La?
- 29:41Speaker 2: Absolutely no, I gotta ask you because they got they
- 29:43Speaker 2: got they got James.
- 29:48Speaker 1: If you don't, they're definitely taking over. I mean they've
- 29:51Speaker 1: kind of had football front. I ain't even got football.
- 29:53Speaker 2: We beat them, listen. Then Lincoln Riley's a hell of
- 29:57Speaker 2: a coach.
- 29:57Speaker 1: And you know it's a famous quote, it's just SC.
- 30:05Speaker 1: It's just a SC. Don't worry about.
- 30:08Speaker 4: It's so crazy to me because those two colleges, like if
- 30:11Speaker 4: for people who don't know, Like if you were to
- 30:13Speaker 4: just drive around USC, it's in South central, right, and
- 30:17Speaker 4: then if you go to the other side of town,
- 30:19Speaker 4: it's it's u C l A.
- 30:20Speaker 1: It's like night and day. The vibes, the just the students,
- 30:24Speaker 1: like the student flavor and energy is different. You know,
- 30:28Speaker 1: like SC got like more of a downtown Like they
- 30:32Speaker 1: more like downtown, so they got like a New York
- 30:35Speaker 1: kind of vibe, you know what I mean, or like
- 30:37Speaker 1: a I don't know, a downtown vibe. On the West side,
- 30:39Speaker 1: people chilling, super laying out. You know, we're going to
- 30:42Speaker 1: the beach. You know, people from s C. They not
- 30:45Speaker 1: driving all the way to the you know what I mean,
- 30:46Speaker 1: they not driving all the way to the beach. They're
- 30:49Speaker 1: going to go trying to find a rooftop pool. Right.
- 30:53Speaker 2: Talk to me about because I always do say that
- 30:56Speaker 2: hip hop and basketball have always been so heavily aligned.
- 31:01Speaker 1: They're parallel to each other.
- 31:03Speaker 2: There's been a numerous artist outside of yourself that have
- 31:06Speaker 2: had ventures in hip hop. I mean I remember growing
- 31:09Speaker 2: up in Phoenix, s Mari Stodom.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Had a label.
- 31:11Speaker 2: Everybody growing Rollo had a label. I'm forgetting somebody he.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Had a label. Do you remember the Best Kept Secrets? Yes? Yes,
- 31:23Speaker 1: of course. Jason Kidd had a song. Jason Kidd, Brian
- 31:27Speaker 1: Shaw had a song, had a video video. Sid had
- 31:32Speaker 1: a video out. Great DJ. People don't great DJ. He
- 31:36Speaker 1: can get down? Who else was on that album? I
- 31:39Speaker 1: had it? I bought it. Yeah, I feel like I
- 31:42Speaker 1: got to remember just being like what these guys are?
- 31:45Speaker 1: You know? They was getting off to Dana Barrows. He
- 31:49Speaker 1: had a song and a video. It was sick. But
- 31:52Speaker 1: but that's what That's what I'm doing now. That's what
- 31:54Speaker 1: I was gonna say.
- 31:55Speaker 2: You're obviously involved in in You've always had your hand
- 31:58Speaker 2: in hip hop. I feel like even when you're in
- 32:00Speaker 2: the league, you'd pop up in the game video or
- 32:02Speaker 2: you would be, you know, around a lot of these guys.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Since obviously ending your career, what has been because you've
- 32:09Speaker 2: been involved in so much on the entertainment side, kind
- 32:11Speaker 2: of give me a rundown on what's going on on
- 32:13Speaker 2: the music side with you right now?
- 32:14Speaker 1: Yesh I created this character bart Olmeal bart o'mill is
- 32:18Speaker 1: the legend. The legend is bart Oldmeial. His tag get
- 32:22Speaker 1: a ball. You know what I mean? You ain't gotta
- 32:25Speaker 1: get one. You know, you can bring one if you
- 32:27Speaker 1: have one. Uh. And so I just start thinking about, like, damn,
- 32:31Speaker 1: my career over. I'm djaying, I want to get better
- 32:35Speaker 1: as a DJ, start producing, start sampling, producing, doing all
- 32:39Speaker 1: that shit. And then nobody would rap to my beats.
- 32:43Speaker 1: So I was like, all right, well I'll start riding
- 32:45Speaker 1: and rapping, spin them all. Two beats can't be worse
- 32:47Speaker 1: than Chris Webers. No, bro, I got heat. I'm just
- 32:50Speaker 1: saying because Chris Webber had a beat on the No.
- 32:52Speaker 1: He had like two beats on the NA were the
- 32:56Speaker 1: worst songs. And I love Chris Webber.
- 32:59Speaker 3: It's like Chris Webb, we got beats that NBA saw
- 33:03Speaker 3: When NA says yes to that beat, it's because you're
- 33:05Speaker 3: Chris Webber.
- 33:07Speaker 1: It was a dope sample. He had a dope sample.
- 33:10Speaker 1: No man, it was shot out the web. He took
- 33:15Speaker 1: the sample from the from the Whiz on that on.
- 33:19Speaker 3: That song with the NA song, the one song on
- 33:23Speaker 3: hip hop is dad, uh was not it?
- 33:25Speaker 1: Which wasn't for me? So so yeah, man, I'm producing. Yeah,
- 33:32Speaker 1: ain't nobody rapping to my ship? All the rappers around
- 33:35Speaker 1: here they like, oh yeah, that's cool. You know, I'm like,
- 33:38Speaker 1: all right, send me, send me the record back. You know,
- 33:42Speaker 1: it was Curtains Crickets really yeah, but I also feel
- 33:46Speaker 1: like it was early too, and so I was like, man,
- 33:49Speaker 1: I'm just gonna keep grinding. I I don't play basketball
- 33:52Speaker 1: no more. So I go to the gym, go to
- 33:54Speaker 1: the studio, and I started making a studio basketball because
- 33:57Speaker 1: then I got a chance to write. So write a script.
- 34:00Speaker 1: It one day I write a script, one day I
- 34:02Speaker 1: write a short story, one day I write you know,
- 34:05Speaker 1: just start making music and start writing. And so I
- 34:07Speaker 1: started making music, start writing, and I wanted to create
- 34:10Speaker 1: this character Bart Oatmeal that can speak and say whatever
- 34:13Speaker 1: the hell he wanted to, you know what I mean?
- 34:15Speaker 1: Because Bart and Baron is that completely different. Bart says
- 34:19Speaker 1: something that doesn't yeah, and Bart is yeah, Bart, Baron
- 34:23Speaker 1: Davis created Bart Oldmeal. Bart Oatmeal is slowly not fucking
- 34:27Speaker 1: with Baron Davis. Okay, that makes it?
- 34:31Speaker 2: Would you say that the uphill battle for you is
- 34:34Speaker 2: like because we know you as Baron Davis.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure. So it's hard because.
- 34:39Speaker 2: We I don't think we've really seen Damian Lewire's done
- 34:42Speaker 2: a decent job recently of like you know.
- 34:45Speaker 1: You can get down. Here's dumb, But.
- 34:48Speaker 2: Is that the uphill battle for you? You would think
- 34:50Speaker 2: it's it's like a benefit, but it's also kind of
- 34:52Speaker 2: not see you as a as a legendary NBA player player.
- 34:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean it's what I you know what I mean,
- 35:01Speaker 1: it is what it is. This is fun for me.
- 35:03Speaker 1: You're doing it because you want to? Yeah, I'm doing it.
- 35:05Speaker 1: Hell yeah, I'm like, you know, it's also like good
- 35:09Speaker 1: mental therapy, you know what I mean. I went to
- 35:13Speaker 1: I went to the art. Like it's like going into
- 35:15Speaker 1: the arts allow me to be able to like kill
- 35:19Speaker 1: a lot of that anxiety, you feel what I'm saying,
- 35:22Speaker 1: Or be able to sit and watch a game and
- 35:24Speaker 1: not have anxiety about if I would it, should have
- 35:28Speaker 1: did it? You know? Yeah, none of that, bro, It's
- 35:30Speaker 1: just now I get to be around another community and
- 35:34Speaker 1: build a community of like dope artists. Still funk with
- 35:38Speaker 1: my NBA dudes, you know what I mean. Now they rapping,
- 35:41Speaker 1: So it gives me reason again to be involved because
- 35:45Speaker 1: I can produce, curate and then bring the NBA dudes
- 35:49Speaker 1: and the rappers together for ballers.
- 35:52Speaker 2: Yes, sir, you are hell yeah, Okay, So I know
- 35:56Speaker 2: a couple of guys that wrap it. You might not
- 35:57Speaker 2: do you know Jared Jackson Junior raps J Yeah he's
- 36:03Speaker 2: recorded here.
- 36:04Speaker 1: Yeah he's hard trip j what up boy? He came.
- 36:08Speaker 1: That's my dog, Dame dam It's called Miles Bridges. Miles Bridges,
- 36:13Speaker 1: who is actually dope Dope, super dope bones, Highland Dope
- 36:18Speaker 1: Bones Hyland raps. I mean Katie has a song from
- 36:22Speaker 1: like twelve years ago. You got to bring the whole
- 36:26Speaker 1: everybody together, man. Yeah, all the dudes just like Ola
- 36:29Speaker 1: Depot he sing. Oh yeah, he could sing like Serge Ibaka.
- 36:32Speaker 1: He got like kind of like a like an AfroB vibe. Yeah,
- 36:37Speaker 1: for people have Victor Olipo's don't Yeah, Victor oly Depot
- 36:39Speaker 1: can sing for real for real? Uh? Who else? It's
- 36:43Speaker 1: a couple other people. Uh. Kawhi he rapped, kaid I
- 36:48Speaker 1: put it, he put a he put a compilation out,
- 36:51Speaker 1: But Kawhi rap see I I yeah, I got, I got.
- 36:55Speaker 1: I was in the studio.
- 36:56Speaker 2: That hard because I have hard. I have a hard
- 37:01Speaker 2: to me. I would I would only assume he had
- 37:04Speaker 2: zero flow. No, he hard, bro, He's just like Monday. No, No,
- 37:11Speaker 2: does he rap like he talks at this press conferences.
- 37:14Speaker 1: No, I gotta hear this. No, It's it's crazy because
- 37:18Speaker 1: you know, we all chilling in the studio and he's
- 37:20Speaker 1: playing the ship and I'm like, man, who is that
- 37:22Speaker 1: this motherfucker going? He was like, Yo, that's like good,
- 37:25Speaker 1: that's he was like, hell yeah, wow, Like he dope.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Her Derosan is dope. I don't doubt that. The man
- 37:32Speaker 1: with a lot of dope rappers. The mar sounds like
- 37:34Speaker 1: god damn two thousand, like he should have been out
- 37:37Speaker 1: with in the game. Hell yeah, dumar hard damar. Who
- 37:43Speaker 1: else lou Will is dope? Will's been dope. Yeah, shout
- 37:48Speaker 1: to Will. My guy's got one of the greatest lives ever.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Hey man, he friends. At the same time, he was
- 37:55Speaker 1: dropping videos on World Starr and Ship the swag, all
- 37:58Speaker 1: the swag. Terry Roseier is hard. Scary, Terry scary, Terry
- 38:03Speaker 1: is hard. Yeah, it's a bunch of dudes. I've just
- 38:06Speaker 1: been like DMN dudes, Darren Darren Waller. I think John
- 38:11Speaker 1: Moran wants to be a rapper. I mean, you should
- 38:13Speaker 1: him on something. I'm sure he can't. I'm sure he can.
- 38:18Speaker 1: I'm sure he can. What would be everybody act like
- 38:20Speaker 1: he going to jail or something. It's like, oh, you're
- 38:23Speaker 1: gonna have free time. He gonna be honest. It's like, bro,
- 38:25Speaker 1: he's not going to jail. He didn't commit a crime.
- 38:28Speaker 1: There's no crime committed. Everybody in the world is like,
- 38:31Speaker 1: damn John Moran going to jail, John Moran, like you
- 38:34Speaker 1: about to do life. It's like, no, he's not, Bro,
- 38:37Speaker 1: do commit a crime. I know, I think this hard.
- 38:40Speaker 1: I think the whole thing is very overblown. I just
- 38:43Speaker 1: think that, you know, once again, we go back to
- 38:45Speaker 1: social media. You go back like think about this, right,
- 38:50Speaker 1: every day you wake up your basketball content you get
- 38:53Speaker 1: in from who social media?
- 38:56Speaker 3: Steven A, Oh yeah steven A or skip skip yeah.
- 39:00Speaker 1: Shannon Shark, JJ Reddick, Richard Jefferson. You feel what I'm saying, Like, man,
- 39:08Speaker 1: who's credible? I mean, JJ Redick and Richard Man, if
- 39:12Speaker 1: you don't knock it off, how could JJ? I mean?
- 39:17Speaker 1: And I love JJ Wright, but here a great career, man, Listen,
- 39:21Speaker 1: BRO hit a long career. So did Richard Jefferson. So
- 39:25Speaker 1: yes career, they'd had a great career. But the what
- 39:29Speaker 1: made JJ Redick like what made me kind of sour
- 39:34Speaker 1: on JJ Redick is how he disrespected Jerry Wes. You
- 39:38Speaker 1: feel what I'm saying, that was it. I'm gonna lead
- 39:41Speaker 1: that at that, you know what I mean? Yeah, because
- 39:44Speaker 1: JJ Reddick should never speak on Jerry West. You can't
- 39:48Speaker 1: even sit at the same table, bro, if it's a
- 39:50Speaker 1: big ass basketball banquet, you are not you know what
- 39:54Speaker 1: I mean, You're not at the same table as Jerry West.
- 39:57Speaker 1: Jerry was not even talking to you, bro. To be fair,
- 39:59Speaker 1: though it ain't no to be fair. I think Jerry West,
- 40:02Speaker 1: he said, Jerry West played with what plumbers? Right now?
- 40:07Speaker 1: Go back to JJ Reddick clip and he said, man,
- 40:10Speaker 1: I choose three hundred jumpers a day, you know what
- 40:12Speaker 1: I mean? I do my workouts was harder, bro. And
- 40:15Speaker 1: you couldn't fix a car and go play basketball, JJ
- 40:20Speaker 1: Reddick did all this just to be an NBA. You
- 40:23Speaker 1: couldn't have been a mechanic and did that like so,
- 40:27Speaker 1: you couldn't have played when there was mechanics, right. I don'
- 40:30Speaker 1: want to hear that, you know what I mean. I can't.
- 40:32Speaker 1: I can't listen to that because you put all this
- 40:34Speaker 1: work in to be average. He was a specialist. He
- 40:40Speaker 1: was average right right right?
- 40:41Speaker 2: He was not an All star. He was a he
- 40:43Speaker 2: was an average bridge great role player.
- 40:46Speaker 1: He was average. He's a good role player, he was
- 40:48Speaker 1: average Jerry West the logo, right, So we like. The
- 40:57Speaker 1: only thing I don't like is like a lot of
- 40:59Speaker 1: time people just be saying shit for like clickbait or
- 41:02Speaker 1: cloud or probably what they personally feel. But when you
- 41:06Speaker 1: look at you know, I'm a historian, When you look
- 41:08Speaker 1: at the game, it's like.
- 41:09Speaker 2: You can't disrespect its rim damn near thirty something bird
- 41:14Speaker 2: shoot better than you look at I look at the
- 41:18Speaker 2: basketball convo kind of like the hip hop convo, right,
- 41:21Speaker 2: because you can't say something you can't say you can't
- 41:25Speaker 2: disrespect run DMC because when they when they started making
- 41:30Speaker 2: hip hop, it was a different.
- 41:32Speaker 1: Art form ever disrespected.
- 41:34Speaker 2: But I'm saying, like when we talk about the all
- 41:36Speaker 2: time break list, right for guys liked even like rock Him,
- 41:39Speaker 2: somehow gets like like slept on that because it's different
- 41:43Speaker 2: hip hop.
- 41:43Speaker 1: Dudes was talking shit about Tupac, you feel what I'm saying.
- 41:47Speaker 1: They was talking shit and talking about Tupac couldn't rap,
- 41:50Speaker 1: you know what I mean. And it was like, Okay,
- 41:52Speaker 1: who's saying this, right? Yeah, No, that's fair. You know,
- 41:56Speaker 1: that was my whole thing. Like, so like making up
- 42:00Speaker 1: getting your media from like five people true Big Perk
- 42:06Speaker 1: shout to Park shout out.
- 42:09Speaker 2: Like sounds like he sounds like bun.
- 42:12Speaker 3: Be and PIMC when he says when he says players.
- 42:18Speaker 1: That sounds like U GK, Brog, Big Park V up
- 42:21Speaker 1: there rapping.
- 42:23Speaker 2: They ever did they ever try to like hit you
- 42:25Speaker 2: to try to do something similar?
- 42:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like, uh like I feel like audition Yeah,
- 42:30Speaker 1: I just never auditioned. I did the T and T thing.
- 42:33Speaker 1: That was cool, but it was uh, it was just
- 42:36Speaker 1: what about a podcast? Would you do a podcast? Yeah?
- 42:38Speaker 1: I feel like I should do it.
- 42:39Speaker 2: You should, man, there's lots of money out there, and
- 42:41Speaker 2: there's some shitty, shitty basketball players doing podcasts getting money.
- 42:45Speaker 1: I know. Yeah, there's some real role players out here,
- 42:47Speaker 1: you know what I mean, It's some real people that
- 42:49Speaker 1: shouldn't be talking out here or shouldn't be talking about
- 42:52Speaker 1: certain ship you know what I mean.
- 42:53Speaker 2: You mentioned something earlier that like doing music writing, being
- 42:58Speaker 2: a creative now helps kind of you keep your mind
- 43:01Speaker 2: off of maybe some of the what ifs of your
- 43:03Speaker 2: NBA career. You were somebody whose career was filled with
- 43:07Speaker 2: a lot of what ifs because you had a lot
- 43:09Speaker 2: of injuries.
- 43:10Speaker 1: Give me, like, how hard?
- 43:12Speaker 2: Because I don't think we hear the side of like
- 43:14Speaker 2: somebody like you who's an All Star, who I mean,
- 43:18Speaker 2: at your peak, when you're healthy, can play with anybody
- 43:21Speaker 2: in the league. When you have one of those careers
- 43:25Speaker 2: where there's a lot of injuries, how much does that
- 43:28Speaker 2: weigh on you mentally when you start like thinking too
- 43:31Speaker 2: much about like damn, if I'd have been healthy or
- 43:33Speaker 2: what if?
- 43:34Speaker 1: For what could it? Would have? Should have? Like is
- 43:36Speaker 1: that a hard thing to kind of a deterioration of
- 43:41Speaker 1: the mind, right when you think about if I would have,
- 43:46Speaker 1: should have, could have? And you can't do nothing else
- 43:49Speaker 1: about it, you know what I mean. It's like I
- 43:52Speaker 1: can't turn it around, you know, after I retire and
- 43:55Speaker 1: be like, all right, I'm gonna go ahead and do
- 43:57Speaker 1: all this shit, right, you know what I mean? It
- 43:58Speaker 1: was just you have to accept life and what you
- 44:04Speaker 1: thought your NBA career was gonna be, I supposed to
- 44:07Speaker 1: what it actually is. And then you gotta learn to
- 44:11Speaker 1: appreciate like there were better players than you that had
- 44:15Speaker 1: shorter NBA careers, you know what I mean? There are
- 44:18Speaker 1: sorrier players that have had illustrious careers. You know what
- 44:22Speaker 1: I mean. You made it food like who is cut
- 44:27Speaker 1: like you? Who came from what you came from, you
- 44:31Speaker 1: know what I mean? And then you should respect everybody
- 44:35Speaker 1: who's played in this league from here to here, so
- 44:39Speaker 1: everybody gets to respect and appreciation. And I think for me,
- 44:43Speaker 1: it was like all right, now I can lead that
- 44:45Speaker 1: shit right there, I'm done. I want to leave it there,
- 44:49Speaker 1: and like I can't talk about like I can talk
- 44:52Speaker 1: about it all day. If I would have should, I
- 44:54Speaker 1: can talk about it. But if I start living in
- 44:57Speaker 1: that erg my mind be I'm be thinking about that
- 45:01Speaker 1: all the time. So me, I can never really be present,
- 45:05Speaker 1: right and I can never really be half pride or
- 45:10Speaker 1: the confidence, you know what I mean That I need
- 45:13Speaker 1: to be present because I'm always thinking about some shit
- 45:17Speaker 1: went wrong. I fucked up. I should have did this,
- 45:19Speaker 1: or I should have did that, or what if I
- 45:21Speaker 1: wouldn't got hurt, or if I wouldn't have got hurt. Yeah,
- 45:23Speaker 1: but like yeah, if I wouldn't have got hurt, like
- 45:26Speaker 1: it had been cracking, but I got hurt, And a
- 45:29Speaker 1: part of like me being hurt was like I always
- 45:33Speaker 1: played hurt, So it was never help your career. My
- 45:35Speaker 1: whole career, I was never healthy, you know what I mean.
- 45:38Speaker 1: It was like not one year, maybe one year or
- 45:40Speaker 1: two that I kind of came into the season like
- 45:43Speaker 1: I feel good, Yeah, you know what I mean. Like
- 45:46Speaker 1: other than that, it was always like I came in
- 45:49Speaker 1: college with a just came off aca my fresh My
- 45:54Speaker 1: first year in the league, I had torn carllage in
- 45:56Speaker 1: my knee. I never got surgery. Second year in the league,
- 45:59Speaker 1: still had that torn carlage, had a little minor surgery
- 46:03Speaker 1: in the off season, played, came back played the second year.
- 46:06Speaker 1: Third year, that's when my back start hurt, you know
- 46:08Speaker 1: what I mean.
- 46:08Speaker 2: Like it was just just always we're dealing with it,
- 46:11Speaker 2: but it was like I couldn't.
- 46:13Speaker 1: It's like you be hurt. But then it's like dog
- 46:16Speaker 1: and mine just starting like you can't be out there.
- 46:18Speaker 1: You start feeling bad. You want to work harder, You
- 46:21Speaker 1: can't work as hard as you want to get to
- 46:23Speaker 1: overthink yourself into a place. Yeah, hell yeah, it's not
- 46:30Speaker 1: It's not easy, you know what I mean. It's not easy,
- 46:33Speaker 1: Like you know, waking up every day and like you know,
- 46:37Speaker 1: thinking about can I do this again, you know what
- 46:40Speaker 1: I mean, Like Doe, they love me, you know what
- 46:43Speaker 1: I mean.
- 46:43Speaker 3: It's like, well.
- 46:46Speaker 1: You know what.
- 46:46Speaker 2: The one thing about you, Baron was I feel like
- 46:48Speaker 2: anybody who was like a true basketball fan, like I
- 46:52Speaker 2: really appreciated when you were playing because you were like
- 46:56Speaker 2: I feel like you were kind of like like like
- 46:59Speaker 2: who It's like kind of like fucking guy. You know,
- 47:02Speaker 2: like a few guys like you, Like I remember I
- 47:03Speaker 2: used to love watching stuff on Malberry Yo. That last
- 47:09Speaker 2: nixt team you played on. Were you on the team

- 50:19Speaker 1: Get you fifty percent off. Goddamn it. Anyway, let's get
- 50:21Speaker 1: back to the interview. Because it was kind of like
- 50:23Speaker 1: my locker was next to Jeremy Lynn's. Oh so it
- 50:26Speaker 1: was cracking after those games next to the locker. It
- 50:29Speaker 1: was No, it wasn't cracking. It was like, my locker
- 50:33Speaker 1: is here, Jeremy Jeremy Lynn locker is here, and there's
- 50:37Speaker 1: one hundred and fifty media in the locker. I mean,
- 50:41Speaker 1: not cracking. You have to leave. You have to get
- 50:44Speaker 1: hey man, hold on, let me get my shit and
- 50:46Speaker 1: let me go change in the in the regular bathroom,
- 50:49Speaker 1: in the bathroom stall. Heyde Jeremy Lynn had the whole
- 50:52Speaker 1: team changing in the fucking shower wherever we could. You
- 50:57Speaker 1: couldn't be in that locker room. They have to move
- 50:59Speaker 1: him from the locker room, and every interview he had
- 51:04Speaker 1: was a press conference. Crazy. It was like one hundred
- 51:07Speaker 1: and fifty people every time he had to get interviewed.
- 51:11Speaker 1: He couldn't do it in the locker room because it'd
- 51:12Speaker 1: be too many people in the locker locker room. You
- 51:15Speaker 1: couldn't change, you couldn't stretch, you couldn't do shit. So
- 51:17Speaker 1: they have to like take him to another sport. D'Antoni
- 51:20Speaker 1: coaching that team. D'Antoni was, Yeah, it's crazy because I
- 51:23Speaker 1: think like me and D'Antoni used to call Jeremy Lynn
- 51:27Speaker 1: angels in the outfield. I tell because I told that
- 51:30Speaker 1: because I was Jeremy Lynn was there to like help
- 51:32Speaker 1: me get back to planning. So I needed another week.
- 51:37Speaker 1: And so that's how he wind up staying that week,
- 51:40Speaker 1: playing against brook the Brooklyn Nets, and then going on
- 51:43Speaker 1: his run. That's how he got his other ten day.
- 51:46Speaker 1: Because I wasn't ready. My back was still fucked up,
- 51:48Speaker 1: and if you would have been healthy, we might not
- 51:50Speaker 1: ever would have never seen Jeremy Lynn. Crazy.
- 51:54Speaker 2: There was like this thing because Mello was injured at
- 51:57Speaker 2: the time, right, and went on that run.
- 51:58Speaker 1: Yeah, because I told Mellow. Mellow was carrying the team
- 52:02Speaker 1: Mellow was carrying the team and he was like, you know,
- 52:04Speaker 1: we were struggling. We was like losing by six, losing
- 52:07Speaker 1: by four, and it was all due to we didn't
- 52:09Speaker 1: have a point guard that went downhill because Mike Mike
- 52:12Speaker 1: Bibby was on the team. Right was on the team,
- 52:15Speaker 1: but Mike Bibby was Mike Bibby was towards the end
- 52:18Speaker 1: of his career. Tony Douglass was a point guard, but
- 52:22Speaker 1: not really a point guard. Aman Shumper was a rookie
- 52:24Speaker 1: who was a shooting guard, not a point guard, play
- 52:27Speaker 1: on that team. Yeah, so like j R. Smith on
- 52:29Speaker 1: that second time, j R. Smith a rookie. Yeah, he
- 52:33Speaker 1: was my rookie year, but like his rookie year was
- 52:37Speaker 1: uh the I feel like that was the year I
- 52:39Speaker 1: got traded to go to State. Yep. I think it
- 52:42Speaker 1: was yep. So you played with him for like a
- 52:44Speaker 1: half a year. Yeah, but he's you know, Swiss used
- 52:46Speaker 1: to live with me. Yeah, like he lived with his
- 52:48Speaker 1: parents in New Orleans, but like you know, when he
- 52:52Speaker 1: wanted to go out and hang out, like I'm spending
- 52:55Speaker 1: night at bad house, We're gonna go to practice. So
- 52:57Speaker 1: Swiss is like my little brother for life.
- 52:59Speaker 2: I didn't say the mellow Jeremy Lynn thing. I remember
- 53:02Speaker 2: the national narrative was like, uh, you know, how's mellow
- 53:05Speaker 2: gonna play with Jeremy Lynn when he comes back from
- 53:07Speaker 2: being healthy. Was there like any sort of like ever
- 53:11Speaker 2: any tension in the locker room between that with that
- 53:13Speaker 2: whole situation.
- 53:14Speaker 1: Uh, there was some weird shit going on because obviously
- 53:20Speaker 1: like we're riding the wave super wave and thelysanity wave
- 53:24Speaker 1: is a mellow out. Remember he was injured when he
- 53:27Speaker 1: when he went on that run. Yeah, yeah, he going
- 53:29Speaker 1: to run. We went like five six in a row.
- 53:32Speaker 1: Mellow come back. But when Mellow come back, Jeremy Lynn
- 53:38Speaker 1: is the biggest star in the world. Fucking fuck New
- 53:43Speaker 1: York in the world. Fuck New York the world, bro
- 53:46Speaker 1: sure the world. He is the He has literally went
- 53:49Speaker 1: from like nobody to the base of the NBA for sure.
- 53:54Speaker 1: And you gotta remember, also, I feel like we are
- 53:57Speaker 1: just transitioning out of the whole lockout, remember the lockout squeeze.
- 54:01Speaker 1: So we about a year and a half or maybe
- 54:03Speaker 1: two and a half years in so it's like the
- 54:05Speaker 1: league is still needing a thing to happen. Man, when
- 54:09Speaker 1: that thing happened. It was like Mellow came back and
- 54:12Speaker 1: Jeremy Lynn was so big. He was bigger than Mellow
- 54:16Speaker 1: media wise, and so it did create a little like
- 54:20Speaker 1: this ship is not like we can't we can't live
- 54:23Speaker 1: in sustainable or not. Yeah, Bro, we can't live in this,
- 54:26Speaker 1: but like we should be living in it. But I
- 54:28Speaker 1: think like it started to create like tension in the
- 54:34Speaker 1: in in the way we played, you know what I mean,
- 54:37Speaker 1: because it's still Mellow team. It's Mellow is still the dog, Mello,
- 54:41Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Mellow is still our goal
- 54:44Speaker 1: the team. Omari was on the team. Amari was injured
- 54:47Speaker 1: and coming back. But remember it was Amari's team first
- 54:52Speaker 1: first year had a rocking. When he had that first
- 54:56Speaker 1: year with the next we had it rocking, he had
- 54:59Speaker 1: it rock mother injury another I mean yeah, think about that,
- 55:03Speaker 1: like like now, imagine Amaro Stottamayer, what if? Why Why
- 55:06Speaker 1: would I sit here and be questioning myself crazy? You
- 55:09Speaker 1: got people like you know, Amari Stot, Yeah, Brandon Roy,
- 55:14Speaker 1: Penny Hardaway, Grant Hill.
- 55:15Speaker 3: Grant Hill would have been probably been the top ten
- 55:17Speaker 3: player ever, Sewan Livingston.
- 55:20Speaker 1: Like Bro, we ain't even get to see the real
- 55:22Speaker 1: Sean Living. I mean we saw it. We saw him
- 55:24Speaker 1: a great career. I saw him have an incredible career,
- 55:26Speaker 1: but you didn't see what could have been. You know
- 55:29Speaker 1: what I mean? But you can't live on that ship?
- 55:31Speaker 2: Was Mike D'Antoni Because I'm a Suns fan, so obviously
- 55:35Speaker 2: I have a place in my heart for him. How
- 55:37Speaker 2: was he like to play with Was he.
- 55:39Speaker 1: Doing the seven seconds or least ship with you guys?
- 55:41Speaker 1: Mike D'Antoni was as a coach? Was cool? Yeah? No defense?
- 55:45Speaker 1: Did God give a shit about defense? Is one talking
- 55:47Speaker 1: about no defense? He wasn't talking about it talking about it?
- 55:51Speaker 1: I ain't talking about no defense just seven seconds or
- 55:54Speaker 1: les offense. No, it wasn't so much seven of seconds.
- 55:58Speaker 1: It was just more so like he needed his point
- 56:01Speaker 1: guard to go north south. Yep. And as talented as
- 56:06Speaker 1: you were being able to go north south, his point
- 56:10Speaker 1: guard was the most integral part of the of the
- 56:14Speaker 1: offense because anytime point guard goes downhill, the whole lane,
- 56:19Speaker 1: the whole defense. Yeah, because you got shooter, you got
- 56:23Speaker 1: shooters surrounding.
- 56:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 56:24Speaker 1: Yeah. And then if the big man is setting a pit,
- 56:27Speaker 1: you really playing two on two basketball. If they stay
- 56:29Speaker 1: at home. So like, that's why Steve Nash was so good.
- 56:33Speaker 1: You know, Chris Duhan had thirty one assists the Knicks.
- 56:38Speaker 1: Duhan was a fucking I remember Havings and his system
- 56:43Speaker 1: man and d'antoni's system. If you're point guard and you
- 56:46Speaker 1: go north, That's why Jeremy Land was so successful because
- 56:51Speaker 1: at the time he could penetrate that pain man. He
- 56:53Speaker 1: just put his head down, drive right and go and
- 56:56Speaker 1: he's not bad. He can make players at the rim,
- 56:58Speaker 1: he can finish. He's a big your guard, you know
- 57:01Speaker 1: what I mean. But if you go downhill, even if
- 57:04Speaker 1: you get in trouble, somebody's open facts and so like
- 57:08Speaker 1: that's kind of like the D'Antoni system. That's why I
- 57:11Speaker 1: went to the Knicks, you know at the end of
- 57:14Speaker 1: the day, because I was like, damn if I can
- 57:15Speaker 1: get right, right, I can, I can Steve nast this ship,
- 57:19Speaker 1: you know what I mean? Yeah, hell yeah, but it's
- 57:21Speaker 1: just like I fuck my shit up. I came in
- 57:23Speaker 1: and the Knicks not thinking I'll be able to walk again.
- 57:26Speaker 1: Was Isaiah Thomas the GM at the time, it was
- 57:29Speaker 1: Glenn Gronwall.
- 57:30Speaker 2: Okay, shout out to Isaiah Thomas. Very scared that he's
- 57:34Speaker 2: going to take over the Sun's GM position.
- 57:36Speaker 1: We'll see, Oh, that'll be dope. I don't know would
- 57:39Speaker 1: it be.
- 57:40Speaker 3: We'll see that's real tight with Matt Ishbiel, So yeah,
- 57:42Speaker 3: that'll be dope.
- 57:43Speaker 1: I will see. I'm just liking. I'm like, I think
- 57:46Speaker 1: James Jones is there now. Yeah, James is great. Yeah, James,
- 57:50Speaker 1: James Jones is cool.
- 57:52Speaker 2: Okay, give me quick, your favorite teammate you've ever played
- 57:56Speaker 2: with and the best teammate skill wise you've ever played with.
- 58:01Speaker 2: Your favorite and the best are two separate things.
- 58:04Speaker 1: Person Yeah, I would have to say probably, Like, damn, dude,
- 58:09Speaker 1: I got so many favorites. I hate doing that ship.
- 58:12Speaker 2: Just give me, give me the first one that comes
- 58:13Speaker 2: to mind without you know.
- 58:15Speaker 1: Or give me a couple of mantel is. Elden Campbell.
- 58:17Speaker 1: Eldon Campbell the o G big Homie. Eldon Campbell is
- 58:22Speaker 1: the original and I need people to know this. He
- 58:25Speaker 1: is the original big homie. There's nobody in the league
- 58:29Speaker 1: that was calling they centered big homie outside of us.
- 58:33Speaker 1: Eldon Campbell took the whole big home. Yeah, me and him.
- 58:38Speaker 1: Dereck Coleman, Hell yeah, dude, we had some crazy people.
- 58:43Speaker 1: Hey dude, we had Derek Comen used to bomb on me.
- 58:46Speaker 3: Wow, hey man on the Nicks.
- 58:54Speaker 1: The nicest, scariest you know what I mean? Big, I
- 59:00Speaker 1: mean you could ever have. He's a very underrated power forward.
- 59:03Speaker 1: He's super underrated. Yeah. Yeah, Brown was on that squad.
- 59:08Speaker 1: Elvin Kimbell was the first big homie, So you know
- 59:11Speaker 1: my big homie. That's fun. Yeah, okay, what about the
- 59:14Speaker 1: best the best teammate I've probably ever played with. That's tough. Yeah,
- 59:24Speaker 1: so I mean I played with Mellow with the Knicks,
- 59:27Speaker 1: so I saw I wasn't like where I was, but
- 59:30Speaker 1: he was doing some crazy ship Jamal Mashburn. You got
- 59:34Speaker 1: to put him up there cold, You gotta put him
- 59:37Speaker 1: up there. What about turing the Clippers run? Who was
- 59:41Speaker 1: there's nobody Blake came but he was young, but nobody
- 59:45Speaker 1: Yeah not not like well, when when Blake got drafted,
- 59:49Speaker 1: he didn't play the first year. Yeah, he got hurt
- 59:51Speaker 1: the first year and then he came back his rookie year.
- 59:54Speaker 1: It was really his second year, his second year, but
- 59:56Speaker 1: he got hurt his rookie year. I feel like I
- 59:58Speaker 1: think he did too. Yeah, I feel like he got
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: hurt the rookie year too. What was on your Clippers team,
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: because I remember DeAndre were my rookies. Eric Blesso was
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: my rookie. Eric Gordon was my rookie. Jesus, that's a lot.
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: Those are some guys. Yeah, those were my rookies. Who
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: else was on the team. I can't remember. Craig Smith,
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: Ryan out from here? Uh Eric go, Yeah, those are
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: my rookies. Ryan Gomes was on that team. I believe
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: Eric Gordon. We we you know, we had we had
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: a cracking like when we when we had the black
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: Ship and DeAndre er was your rookie too, was of
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: a Suns fan.
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: The Dark Ages is when the only jersey I could
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: go buy at our team shops.
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: Was Eric Eric Closets and the other point guard from
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: Kentucky what was his name? He was really nice?
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: Uh you about Tyler Tyler h Ednis, Tyler Short.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: I like that kid. All right.
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: Last question, hardest player to defend that you had to
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: play against.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: Hardest player to defend? Yeah, oh man, okay, let me
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: tell you this unfair. I am a point guard six
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: three maybe two fifteen two eighteen at the guard Michael
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: Jordan or on the Wizards the Wizards, but which was
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: still a the fifty point game. Wait, you were guarding
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: Jordan when he didn't score them all. He scored like
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: eight ten on me. Wow. So for people who don't
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: know that, people, fucking that's up. I'm gonna tell you
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: this is where I think there's a Michael Jordan like
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: Maketrix you can fall into because you watching him and
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: he's scoring, and he's making this shit look easy and
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: he's entertaining, and you, as the offense and the defense,
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: you just fall asleep like admiring fall silence Jordan Hayes
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: where you're just like, let's call it the timeout. Lee
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: Naylor was guarding him in the beginning. Paul Silas called
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: the time out. Man, what the fuck y'all doing? And
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: everybody's sitting there like, you know, like, damn, dude, is
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: Jordan got sixty points? Like man, y'all just watching this dude?
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: Like we were literally like you're watching him like.
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: Like damn, like go ahead, like you're not gonna help?
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: Do U? G do you?
- 1:02:28Speaker 3: Bro?
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: Was ill? It was ill because you know then it
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: was like all right, fuck it, I got him and
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: he hit me with the fane and it's like, damn,
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: I ain't getting no help. I'm looking around everybody looking
- 1:02:39Speaker 1: at me, like John, that was some good defense. Well,
- 1:02:44Speaker 1: I think people trying to like as a good defense.
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: Jordan wasn't cold on the Wizards. He was cold. I
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: watched all gave us a fifty piece show, went to
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: the All Star Game, almost took him to the playoffs.
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: We had beat them in Charlotte. I think I had thirty,
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: Mass had twenty something, you know what I mean, And
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: so the whole you know, Jordan gotta get his bounce back.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: Shit like that fifty points. That was the bounce That's
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: what this shit. Yeah, man, he came out and here
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: like sixteen in the first quarter. I seen, I was
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: watching it. I was there. This is all this like,
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: I'm like, damn, he just got sixteen, Okay, shit, Damn
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: he got twenty four at halftime. Damn he got foty
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: in the third quarter. And you're just admiring it. No,
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: by the time halftime come around, you're like, hey man,
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: we can't let this move. Fucker get this guy.
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: He's a lot older than this guy's like like, bro,
- 1:03:32Speaker 3: you're doing everything.
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: It's over. You're doing everything to stop him now it's ober.
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: He heard him rip Hamilton Jaheedi White.
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: It's like the most random like assortment of players on
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: the Wizards.
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: Man. It was like it's like he coming out of
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: the game and it's like almost like you know, people
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: just getting their flow getting shot and shit. Actually not like, man,
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: this motherfucker got twenty four, Like and you playing hard,
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: you know what I mean, But it's still like the
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: intensity of the game ain't picked up yet. Wow. And
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: by the time you your intensity level pick up, like.
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: He laughing at you at that point, What about the
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: most underrated guy that you played against, Because there's a
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: lot of players who don't get.
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: Brandon Roy, Nick van Axell, Jason Terry uh uh, Damon Stottlemeyer,
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: Michael Redd, Michael Red.
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: When he was on the Bucks, Darren Williams Yes shot
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: out to d will Jared Jack, assistant coach for the Suns. Well,
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: I don't know if he is anymore, because you know.
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: I just think that dude was highly underrated. I think
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: he's going to Detroit. I think Tony Parker, I mean,
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: Hall of Famer. But like you don't talk, we don't
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: talk enough. We talked more about Chris Paul than we
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: do Tony Parker and Parker got the rings. To me,
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: Parker top five point guard all time. Wow. I mean
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: if you look at it, you know where he sit.
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: You got him above CP all time, have to you
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: got four titles. That's fair. I mean you know what
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: I mean. Like if you if you're putting it like,
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: you know, you got stock Thing, you got Magic, you
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: got Isaiah, you got Steph stephte Steph is, Yeah, you
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: got Steph.
- 1:05:19Speaker 2: I think you got Tony Parker. I put c P
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: in the in that five spot. I think I just
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: think Parker was blessed to play in that Spurs system.
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: I think if you put Chris if you can't say that,
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: they wouldn't have won. If you put Chris on the Spurs,
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: they wouldn't one. You don't think so, m M Nope,
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: because Chris Paul play a different style. Like people, people
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: don't appreciate Tony Parker.
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: I agree that as a fan who had ripped out,
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: you hate him, you hate him, had ripped out by
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: the But I.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: Would say he's probably the most underrated person that people
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: don't talk about. Yeah. I even think somehow Tim Duncan
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: is like, don't Yeah for sure. I just hate watched him. Yeah,
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: like you people, no emotion when he scored. I'm like, dude,
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: can you can you get it together?
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: He's just nonchalantly cooking us, sending us home every fucking playoffs.
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: Anyway, well, look, anything going on?
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: Can you kind of give us a quick idea on
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: what's going on the music side here?
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: Bart oat Mill, you know down lo I am not
