- 1:52Speaker 1: and I'd love to come together with you. Now, let's
- 1:56Speaker 1: talk about the week. This has been a week for me.
- 2:00Speaker 1: It's been a week for me because of a few things.
- 2:05Speaker 1: It's been really nice to be home and really nice
- 2:07Speaker 1: to be in a routine. I joined a gym not
- 2:10Speaker 1: all that long ago, and I've really really enjoyed getting
- 2:14Speaker 1: back out to the gym for context. I do have
- 2:18Speaker 1: a gym in my building and I've used it ever
- 2:20Speaker 1: since I moved in in twenty twenty one, and I've
- 2:23Speaker 1: loved it. However, it doesn't have all of the bells
- 2:27Speaker 1: and whistles or all of the equipment that I want
- 2:30Speaker 1: to be using, primarily different weights and barbells, and so
- 2:37Speaker 1: I decided why not, let's try it. So here I
- 2:40Speaker 1: am in my little routine, going to the gym four
- 2:43Speaker 1: times a week and really enjoying it.
- 2:45Speaker 2: I'm finding my fast.
- 2:47Speaker 1: I'm calling this spring the Spring of Speed as I
- 2:50Speaker 1: gear up for a ten k in June, and all
- 2:53Speaker 1: of that has been really great. But candidly, work has
- 2:57Speaker 1: been a little bit frustrating for me lately, and it's
- 3:02Speaker 1: to be expected. This happens for me when I come
- 3:05Speaker 1: off of things that really excite me, bigger projects, and
- 3:10Speaker 1: the group of hurdlers that ran the La Marathon, that
- 3:14Speaker 1: project was a really exciting project for me. And so
- 3:17Speaker 1: now as I have this little bit of lull, I'm
- 3:21Speaker 1: feeling a little confused, and I find myself falling into
- 3:26Speaker 1: the comparison trap situation, the comparison trap period, I look
- 3:31Speaker 1: at my socials and open Instagram and feel as though
- 3:34Speaker 1: I'm not doing enough. I see people that are doing
- 3:36Speaker 1: things that I want to be doing, and it's not
- 3:39Speaker 1: at all that I'm not excited for them. I do
- 3:41Speaker 1: believe that there's room for all of us at the table,
- 3:43Speaker 1: and the best people that I know, the people that
- 3:46Speaker 1: are my closest people, They're the kind of people that
- 3:48Speaker 1: lift others up as they rise to knowing there is
- 3:51Speaker 1: room in the harbor for all of the ships, all
- 3:54Speaker 1: of the metaphors. You get what I'm saying. But it's
- 3:57Speaker 1: just been really frustrating because I have some goals and
- 4:02Speaker 1: things that my sites are set on, and I sit
- 4:05Speaker 1: here and I think about how I felt this week,
- 4:08Speaker 1: and I worry that this feeling will only be amplified
- 4:11Speaker 1: if I don't get to the place that I envision
- 4:14Speaker 1: that I will be the place that I am manifesting
- 4:17Speaker 1: the things that I am after. And I'm living in
- 4:19Speaker 1: this place of duality, this place of both, this place
- 4:23Speaker 1: of knowing and appreciating and remembering that there is so
- 4:27Speaker 1: much that I have in my life that I wanted now,
- 4:30Speaker 1: and also there is nothing wrong with wanting more. I
- 4:35Speaker 1: am so grateful for everything that I have now, so
- 4:38Speaker 1: much of it that I didn't even dream of, I
- 4:41Speaker 1: didn't even fathom. But then there's also this person here
- 4:45Speaker 1: that wants to keep leveling up, that wants to keep
- 4:48Speaker 1: striving for more, and so one big exhale, I will
- 4:54Speaker 1: say this in the Weekly Hurdle this week. It's the
- 4:56Speaker 1: newsletter that comes out every Friday that I write shared
- 5:00Speaker 1: the strategies that I used on Tuesday when I feel
- 5:03Speaker 1: like I was in the prime of this little frustration
- 5:08Speaker 1: session situation I've been in that I used to get
- 5:12Speaker 1: through this, that I used to really pull myself out
- 5:14Speaker 1: of the comparison trap, come back to gratitude. And so
- 5:18Speaker 1: for those head on over to the Weekly Heard. All
- 5:21Speaker 1: of the link is in the show notes. My listener
- 5:25Speaker 1: prompt for you this week, and thanks always for letting
- 5:28Speaker 1: me share.
- 5:29Speaker 2: My listener prompt for you this week.
- 5:31Speaker 1: What is one goal that you have that you're working
- 5:35Speaker 1: toward right now, and what is something that's within your
- 5:39Speaker 1: power to get closer to that goal within the next
- 5:41Speaker 1: seven days. What is one goal on your horizon right
- 5:44Speaker 1: now and what's something you can do over the next
- 5:46Speaker 1: seven days to get closer to it? And now a
- 5:50Speaker 1: very appropriate listener question.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Hi, Emily, it's Salita. My question for today's I've noticed
- 5:58Speaker 3: your dedication to journaling and consistently achieving your goals, so
- 6:03Speaker 3: I wanted to know what is one goal that you're
- 6:06Speaker 3: most proud of accomplishing and what are you currently manifesting.
- 6:11Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure that I've said this on the show before,
- 6:14Speaker 1: but if you were to ask me this question five
- 6:16Speaker 1: years ago, I would tell you my most proudest accomplishment
- 6:19Speaker 1: was being featured in the New York Times.
- 6:23Speaker 2: And as awesome as that was.
- 6:25Speaker 1: The article is truly framed in the studio here, I
- 6:29Speaker 1: realized that there was both hard work and luck involved
- 6:34Speaker 1: in that, And so I reflect on the things that
- 6:37Speaker 1: I've done purely hard work and what that has resulted in,
- 6:41Speaker 1: and candidly, one of my biggest accomplishments is being a
- 6:45Speaker 1: woman in her mid thirties who can afford her own
- 6:48Speaker 1: two bedroom apartment rental, Like this is something that I
- 6:53Speaker 1: worked really hard to get to a place where I
- 6:55Speaker 1: could make this happen, and it wasn't easy, and it's
- 6:58Speaker 1: not easy regularly work my butt off to have this
- 7:02Speaker 1: space and to feel happy in my space, and so
- 7:06Speaker 1: that truly is something I am so proud of myself
- 7:09Speaker 1: for Beyond that, man, I mean, I really want to
- 7:16Speaker 1: be in Paris this summer, and it feels sometimes like
- 7:20Speaker 1: I'm supposed to just make these things happen and share
- 7:23Speaker 1: them with all of you and not show the behind
- 7:25Speaker 1: the scenes. But right now I have nothing lined up.
- 7:29Speaker 1: I have nothing lined up, and it's not for lack
- 7:31Speaker 1: of trying. But none of my ideas thus far have clicked.
- 7:35Speaker 1: And I think that there's a lot more that I
- 7:37Speaker 1: can go after and ideas that I can concept and
- 7:41Speaker 1: people that I can talk to. But in the meantime,
- 7:43Speaker 1: right now, I'm trying to trust the process and believe
- 7:47Speaker 1: that if I am meant to be working in Paris
- 7:49Speaker 1: this summer during the Olympics, and it's going to happen.
- 7:53Speaker 1: And I really struggle with this manifestation hands off approach.
- 7:58Speaker 1: I'm a type a person. I go after the things
- 8:01Speaker 1: that I want. I make big asks. I'm so used
- 8:04Speaker 1: to the word no, and getting used to the word
- 8:07Speaker 1: no has been one of the best things I have
- 8:10Speaker 1: done for myself because it's enabled me to pitch some
- 8:13Speaker 1: really crazy things and do things beyond my wildest dreams.
- 8:17Speaker 1: But I would be remiss if I didn't sit here
- 8:19Speaker 1: in front of this microphone and be honest about the
- 8:22Speaker 1: fact that I feel so scared that I have shared
- 8:25Speaker 1: this big goal with so many damn people and what
- 8:28Speaker 1: if it doesn't happen, you know, like what if I
- 8:31Speaker 1: quote unquote fail, what if I come up short? I know,
- 8:37Speaker 1: like there will be other opportunities, but it's hard not
- 8:44Speaker 1: to wow. I didn't expect to get so emotional talking
- 8:47Speaker 1: about this. It's hard not to get down on myself
- 8:51Speaker 1: in moments like this and ask myself, like, what more
- 8:55Speaker 1: could you have done? But I trust it, Yeah, I
- 9:01Speaker 1: really do. I trust that if it's not Paris, then
- 9:06Speaker 1: maybe it's La. And if it's not La twenty eight,
- 9:10Speaker 1: then there's something else waiting around the corner for me.
- 9:15Speaker 3: You know.
- 9:15Speaker 1: I don't know if I've ever told this story on
- 9:17Speaker 1: the show before, but I was up for a really
- 9:19Speaker 1: big opportunity a few years ago during the pandemic, in
- 9:22Speaker 1: which I would have been a global ambassador for a
- 9:26Speaker 1: brand that is a very big part of my life.
- 9:28Speaker 1: And when that opportunity fell through, I truly felt like
- 9:32Speaker 1: I had lost everything. I felt as though I was
- 9:37Speaker 1: never going to find the right thing. I felt that
- 9:41Speaker 1: this was the launching point and it slipped through my
- 9:44Speaker 1: fingers and I didn't really know how to move forward
- 9:48Speaker 1: from that. But the truth is that I did, and
- 9:53Speaker 1: when I did, I was met with so many opportunities
- 9:57Speaker 1: based on my hard work, and ultimately those opportunities in
- 10:03Speaker 1: retrospect were a lot more for me, a lot more
- 10:07Speaker 1: in line with where I want to go, who I
- 10:11Speaker 1: want to be than maybe that big global ambassador opportunity
- 10:14Speaker 1: ever would have been talk about a vulnerable five minute Friday.
- 10:21Speaker 1: I'm just here doing me in this studio in Brooklyn
- 10:27Speaker 1: that I really once dreamed of having and now that
- 10:31Speaker 1: I do. There are so many silver linings. There is
- 10:34Speaker 1: so much good if only you choose to see it.
