- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Hello everyone, welcome to the Almost Famous Podcast. It's Ashley
- 0:12Speaker 2: and Ben here breaking down episode two of Jen's season.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Hello Benjamin, Welcome back.
- 0:20Speaker 3: Ashley. I cannot believe we're doing this together again.
- 0:23Speaker 2: I can't either. Today's definitely the last day. I've been
- 0:28Speaker 2: manifesting July fifteenth as the day, and I still think
- 0:32Speaker 2: it's today.
- 0:33Speaker 3: So an absolute wild time. Well, Ashley, we are here
- 0:37Speaker 3: to talk about the Bachelor ed Bachelor. There is a
- 0:43Speaker 3: lot to talk about. This is kind of the episode
- 0:45Speaker 3: that things pick up a bit obviously.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Also, congratulations to the show did really well. Week one
- 0:52Speaker 2: did much better than our expectations ratings wise. So just
- 0:58Speaker 2: because I didn't feel like it was about a lot,
- 1:01Speaker 2: like I think that Jen's totally likable bachelorette, just didn't
- 1:04Speaker 2: think that people were like ready for it.
- 1:07Speaker 3: Well, I think the show is in a really good place.
- 1:10Speaker 3: If they don't ruin it and so like this season,
- 1:14Speaker 3: if they knock it out of the park, if they
- 1:16Speaker 3: don't try to manipulate too much, if they don't make
- 1:19Speaker 3: it super corny, if they don't make it unbelievable, then
- 1:25Speaker 3: I do think the show is in a really good place,
- 1:28Speaker 3: and I do think people are excited about the Bachelor
- 1:32Speaker 3: and Bachelorette again and the Golden Bachelor and Bachelor. Yeah, Ashley,
- 1:36Speaker 3: I did think this show, this episode's specifically walked a
- 1:41Speaker 3: fine line between me not believing it and believing it.
- 1:45Speaker 3: It did, at the end become believable to me. It
- 1:48Speaker 3: felt there.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Was something missing from this episode for these guys to
- 1:52Speaker 2: be so riled up about.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Yeah, it felt like there was something missing. I also
- 1:57Speaker 3: really didn't like the intro with like them going to Australa.
- 2:00Speaker 3: It felt like all these like thirty year old dudes
- 2:02Speaker 3: were acting like ten year old children, like screaming, running around,
- 2:05Speaker 3: jumping on the beds with each other, like jumping on
- 2:08Speaker 3: the couch. It just was like it felt forced to me.
- 2:12Speaker 2: There's some drama queens though in this bunch that I
- 2:15Speaker 2: feel like they would just act up for camera.
- 2:18Speaker 3: Yeah. Oh the camera's on.
- 2:20Speaker 2: There's corny, Yeah, and they're all.
- 2:22Speaker 3: Trying really hard to be funny, but like, not any
- 2:25Speaker 3: of them. There's not one yet that I'm like, Oh,
- 2:27Speaker 3: they're like just like quick witted. There's not one yet.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Gin Actually, yeah, those guys yet none of them stand
- 2:35Speaker 3: out to me as being like, like somebody would make
- 2:38Speaker 3: you belly laugh.
- 2:39Speaker 2: So I'm assuming that you didn't find anybody's stand up
- 2:42Speaker 2: performance during the group date good. It was Actually we
- 2:46Speaker 2: didn't see anything besides the Devin bashing.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Yeah it felt weird. Let's start there. And so we're
- 2:51Speaker 3: obviously finding ourselves in Australia. Jin and the men are
- 2:55Speaker 3: starting out. Theydn't even stay in the mansion, which there
- 2:57Speaker 3: was no mansion this year. They're in Australia.
- 3:00Speaker 2: About that, okay, I think that Marshall, who owns the mansion,
- 3:04Speaker 2: was like, guys, love you, but I'm not going to
- 3:07Speaker 2: leave for Golden Bachelorette, Bachelorette and Bachelor, so pick your two.
- 3:15Speaker 3: I still just believe money speaks, like I'm I think
- 3:17Speaker 3: he would leave for a price. Yeah, I guess to
- 3:19Speaker 3: have another house somewhere. I mean, the guy's been making
- 3:23Speaker 3: millions on this show. I think maybe. I mean, it's
- 3:26Speaker 3: not a bad theory. I'm just saying I would be
- 3:27Speaker 3: shocked if he doesn't have a price, and maybe the
- 3:29Speaker 3: price is too high for one night of filming, and.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Well, definitely one night. He's not going to do it.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Sure, they're not going to do it.
- 3:39Speaker 2: That's too much work for one night to turn over.
- 3:41Speaker 3: That's a good point too. Well, they're not in the mansion.
- 3:45Speaker 3: They are in Australia. They're staying at a Marriot. We
- 3:48Speaker 3: got to see that nice little ad. I love Marriott.
- 3:51Speaker 3: It's big Marrit man, and the guys do their little intro,
- 3:56Speaker 3: which I've already said did not make me like him
- 3:59Speaker 3: any less or more. It just felt like I could
- 4:02Speaker 3: fast forward through that and not see any of these
- 4:04Speaker 3: dudes doing what they were doing. Jen is looking beautiful
- 4:07Speaker 3: as usual.
- 4:08Speaker 2: So beautiful, like look amazing, this entire episode amazing.
- 4:13Speaker 3: And we start with a group date where these guys
- 4:18Speaker 3: are tasting different things. I do think there was something
- 4:21Speaker 3: at the very beginning of this group date that I
- 4:23Speaker 3: wanted to speak with you about. It. It is I
- 4:25Speaker 3: think his name is sam In. He's the one that
- 4:28Speaker 3: is the love virgin.
- 4:30Speaker 2: He is lactose intolerant.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Yeah, lactose intolerant, a little quiet and to himself, and
- 4:35Speaker 3: I think they tried to make it a storyline, like
- 4:38Speaker 3: it felt like it was going to become a thing,
- 4:40Speaker 3: and I couldn't help thinking the whole time that he
- 4:43Speaker 3: was admitting that he just feels a little uncomfortable, a
- 4:46Speaker 3: little out of his element, that that's very normal, that's
- 4:50Speaker 3: very okay. This is the first week. You should feel
- 4:52Speaker 3: a little out of your element. You are trying to
- 4:54Speaker 3: figure out how to date this girl or for her
- 4:56Speaker 3: to even try to get to know you in the
- 4:57Speaker 3: midst of some chaos. But it almost felt like they
- 5:02Speaker 3: were trying to make it where the other guys were
- 5:04Speaker 3: gonna get upset with him about it.
- 5:05Speaker 2: I felt, oh, really, I didn't vibe that, But I
- 5:08Speaker 2: like him.
- 5:09Speaker 3: I like him so far because you were.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Like, Okay, I kind of see what you're talking about.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Because the guy was like, oh, you're not eating that
- 5:16Speaker 2: because you're lactose and tolerant, almost like they wanted him
- 5:18Speaker 2: to be like, Oh, it's okay, a big tough guy,
- 5:20Speaker 2: I'll just eat whatever.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Just get a stomach ache for you. Yeah, let me
- 5:24Speaker 3: get a stomach ache for you. Not a not a
- 5:28Speaker 3: massive deal. But that kind of came and went, and
- 5:31Speaker 3: then we had the comedy show where all these guys
- 5:34Speaker 3: kind of out of nowhere.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Well, first, Devin pulls her aside to get gelato on
- 5:39Speaker 2: their own, yeah, which gives them the material to hate
- 5:43Speaker 2: him and.
- 5:44Speaker 3: It was so crazy, Ashley, And maybe things are just
- 5:49Speaker 3: different now, but this happens. It happens every season. It's
- 5:53Speaker 3: not unexpected, and yes, you're not gonna like everything that
- 5:56Speaker 3: every other guy does. But my I remember being on
- 5:59Speaker 3: the back and thinking to myself, I'm gonna let these
- 6:02Speaker 3: other guys sabotage each other, like I am not the
- 6:06Speaker 3: one that's gonna step in the middle of this. If
- 6:07Speaker 3: this dude wants to go spend time with her and
- 6:10Speaker 3: she really is into it, then that's great for them.
- 6:12Speaker 3: Maybe they're gonna end up together good. That's what we
- 6:15Speaker 3: hope happens here. Maybe she realizes that this dude is
- 6:18Speaker 3: a little annoying, and maybe the other guys dislike it
- 6:21Speaker 3: too and they step it up. But it felt like
- 6:24Speaker 3: all these guys kind of packed together and got mad together,
- 6:28Speaker 3: which was very odd to me. You didn't just have
- 6:30Speaker 3: one guy going at him, you had multiple.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Devin is not the most likable guy, Like, we get it.
- 6:36Speaker 2: He's brash, bet and I he could even tell from
- 6:39Speaker 2: his bio he likes to eat things he's allergic to.
- 6:43Speaker 2: He's he's something okay, But what he did here was
- 6:50Speaker 2: not outrageous.
- 6:50Speaker 3: At all.
- 6:51Speaker 2: He pulled her aside for a few minutes to get
- 6:54Speaker 2: ice cream, and he didn't even kiss her. And pulling
- 7:00Speaker 2: someone aside on a group date to get a few
- 7:02Speaker 2: minutes alone not weird, not even rude. Okay, why would
- 7:08Speaker 2: you want to spend your entire time on the group
- 7:12Speaker 2: date with the other guys? Who have these guys never
- 7:17Speaker 2: seen the show before. They were all just very jealous
- 7:21Speaker 2: that they didn't come up with an idea to pull
- 7:22Speaker 2: her aside themselves.
- 7:24Speaker 3: They're using the word disrespectful. They kind of kept called
- 7:27Speaker 3: Devin disrespectful at multiple different times during this episode. Now, Devin,
- 7:32Speaker 3: I'm assuming, is not everybody's cup of tea. I don't
- 7:34Speaker 3: think everybody likes him, But I don't know anything he
- 7:37Speaker 3: did that was disrespectful. I don't think I saw anything
- 7:41Speaker 3: that was like out of the ordinary from any other
- 7:43Speaker 3: season or any other person trying to get as much
- 7:47Speaker 3: time as possible. Now, again, I go back to typically,
- 7:50Speaker 3: if you're in a group setting, especially early on, the
- 7:53Speaker 3: guy that is going to do those type of things,
- 7:56Speaker 3: take her aside, pull her away, step into your conversations
- 8:00Speaker 3: is not the guy that's gonna be there at the end.
- 8:02Speaker 3: Because there's usually like he is the one that is
- 8:04Speaker 3: going to sabotage himself at some point with her, He's
- 8:07Speaker 3: going to become too annoying or too brass or too
- 8:11Speaker 3: just in her face, and she's gonna be like, hey,
- 8:12Speaker 3: not for me, man, like take a chill pill, Like
- 8:15Speaker 3: we're going. If you're gonna be my partner, you have
- 8:18Speaker 3: to understand the environment that I'm in and that this
- 8:20Speaker 3: is really hard. And the more time you pull me
- 8:22Speaker 3: away means the less time I got to spend trying
- 8:24Speaker 3: to figure this whole thing out, like be my partner
- 8:27Speaker 3: here and not an annoyance. So I don't know why
- 8:31Speaker 3: the guys get so upset, but they do, and they
- 8:33Speaker 3: take it upon him at the comedy special.
- 8:36Speaker 2: And Aaron, especially who's Noah's brother, has this weird issue
- 8:41Speaker 2: with him. Do you not think that was weird the
- 8:44Speaker 2: way that he felt towards him after this?
- 8:47Speaker 3: Yeah, well it represented the Bennett Noah argument. If you
- 8:51Speaker 3: remember back in the day when the two of them
- 8:53Speaker 3: sat down, like especially when Aaron gave him the book.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Bennett gave Noah a book, I think it was on
- 9:01Speaker 3: to something, yeah, something like that, And so now it
- 9:05Speaker 3: definitely was a little corny and cheesy from my perspective,
- 9:07Speaker 3: because you could tell that the show was definitely involved
- 9:11Speaker 3: and repeating that storyline or they're trying to repeat.
- 9:13Speaker 2: This sarre But Ben, did you remember that on your own?
- 9:19Speaker 3: I think it did, actually, because.
- 9:21Speaker 2: That's a fine note. Yeah, and it's been like four years, so.
- 9:28Speaker 3: I'm a historian of the show. Actually, Yeah, at this
- 9:30Speaker 3: point we've done this long enough.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Good job picking up on that. That is even cornier now.
- 9:36Speaker 3: It was almost hard to watch because it was like, you,
- 9:39Speaker 3: this is this is no longer walking in in my
- 9:43Speaker 3: in like reality now. People ask you all the time
- 9:45Speaker 3: it's a show real or not? I always say, yes,
- 9:46Speaker 3: it is. It's very real. It just matters how you
- 9:49Speaker 3: go about it. That moment, to me was a little
- 9:53Speaker 3: too unrealistic, and it made me like kind of curl
- 9:57Speaker 3: up an embarrassment, being like why am I watching this?
- 10:00Speaker 3: Does have a massive issue with Devon. He takes it
- 10:02Speaker 3: upon himself to make sure that he is angry.
- 10:05Speaker 2: He keeps saying that he's not deep enough, that he's
- 10:09Speaker 2: not like, he's not qualified enough gentleman to be with Jen,
- 10:13Speaker 2: and to be honest, he really doesn't know him enough,
- 10:16Speaker 2: and he does call him by a different name. He
- 10:20Speaker 2: calls him Dylan, and I'm like, dude, multiple times.
- 10:25Speaker 3: It's not a good look. I don't think anybody's gonna
- 10:27Speaker 3: watch it and be like that's a good look. Now again.
- 10:29Speaker 3: I don't know if Devon's for everybody.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Believe me, Devon isn't for everyone. But Aaron's behavior towards
- 10:36Speaker 2: him was even less for me, was far less for me.
- 10:51Speaker 3: Hey, everyone, this is Courtney Thorne, Smith.
- 10:53Speaker 4: Laura Layton, and Daphnew Zanniga on July eighth, nineteen ninety two.
- 10:58Speaker 4: Apartment buildings with pool were never quite the same as
- 11:02Speaker 4: Melro's Place was introduced to the world, it took drama
- 11:06Speaker 4: and mayhem to an entirely new level.
- 11:09Speaker 3: We are going to be reliving.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Every hookup, every scandal, every backstap, blackmail and explosion, and
- 11:16Speaker 1: every single wig removal together.
- 11:19Speaker 4: Secrets are revealed as we rewatch every moment with you.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Special guests from back in the.
- 11:25Speaker 4: Day will be dropping by.
- 11:27Speaker 2: You know who they are.
- 11:28Speaker 4: Sydney, Allison and Joe are back together on Still the
- 11:31Speaker 4: Place with a trip down memory Lane.
- 11:33Speaker 2: And back to Melroe's Place.
- 11:35Speaker 3: So listen to Still the Place on the iHeartRadio, app
- 11:38Speaker 3: Apple podcasts or wherever you listen to podcasts.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Mondays are still a bitch.
- 11:49Speaker 3: It's a weird thing, Ashley. Little side note here, as
- 11:52Speaker 3: we're talking about a show where marriage or a proposal
- 11:56Speaker 3: is inevitable or at least the desired hope from the outcome,
- 12:02Speaker 3: you don't look at a partner and say, you know,
- 12:05Speaker 3: if conflict arises or there's something going on in life
- 12:08Speaker 3: where your partner is upset, you surely hope that they
- 12:13Speaker 3: don't handle that situation like these guys are doing it
- 12:15Speaker 3: right now on the show. You hope that somebody steps
- 12:17Speaker 3: into the room and be like, here's the deal. You're upset.
- 12:20Speaker 3: You don't like him, you know what? That's okay, Like,
- 12:23Speaker 3: I can't convince you to like him. But what we
- 12:26Speaker 3: can do is understand that the more drama and the
- 12:29Speaker 3: more argument that we have in this room right now,
- 12:31Speaker 3: and the more we spend time focusing on this, the
- 12:34Speaker 3: less beneficial this is for Jen and for any of
- 12:37Speaker 3: us in this room, including myself, who don't like who
- 12:40Speaker 3: doesn't like you. So let's put this aside. Let's understand
- 12:44Speaker 3: that I'm not happy with the decisions that you made,
- 12:46Speaker 3: and just know that I'm going to stand by that,
- 12:48Speaker 3: but I don't want it to interfere with this experience
- 12:52Speaker 3: that would be a response. Instead, these dudes right now
- 12:55Speaker 3: are being childish, childish towards each other, and they're representing
- 13:00Speaker 3: themselves as childish, and I think it's very unattractive and
- 13:04Speaker 3: it's it's very weird right now because we don't have
- 13:08Speaker 3: that one person that's necessarily standing out. I think Marcus
- 13:10Speaker 3: stands out. I do, but he's not. And maybe it's
- 13:13Speaker 3: just because he isn't getting into the drama. But there's
- 13:16Speaker 3: nobody just stepping up in the midst of this argument
- 13:18Speaker 3: and being like can we stop? Like what are we doing?
- 13:20Speaker 3: Like how long do we want this to go? For?
- 13:22Speaker 2: Well, chemistry wise, I still feel her with Sam. I'm
- 13:27Speaker 2: gonna Sean Booth look like Sam, but he but he
- 13:31Speaker 2: is getting into the drama as well.
- 13:33Speaker 3: He is, He's stepping a toe in the water. I
- 13:36Speaker 3: still just have this feeling that he's going to get
- 13:37Speaker 3: more involved in the drama than we even know right now.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so too, especially next week's episode. Okay,
- 13:45Speaker 2: the nighttime portion of the date, she is clicking with
- 13:48Speaker 2: Grant the basketball player Slash Day investor trader. Mm hmm, okay,
- 13:56Speaker 2: I mean I like him. He's cute, I mean very cute.
- 14:00Speaker 2: I get it, I get the get the deal.
- 14:03Speaker 3: She she is definitely into the guys from the start
- 14:06Speaker 3: that definitely kind of have the yeah, yeah, like just
- 14:11Speaker 3: kind of you know, know, how to work a room
- 14:13Speaker 3: and have a conversation and be kind of like romantic
- 14:17Speaker 3: and like sensual. Like he just kind of that. She's
- 14:21Speaker 3: into that. With the Sam and Grant, you can tell
- 14:24Speaker 3: that she likes that kind of look and vibe.
- 14:28Speaker 2: I mean the look. It's good look.
- 14:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:32Speaker 2: And then she likes to be asked like those questions.
- 14:35Speaker 2: I think where like we said last week, it's kind
- 14:39Speaker 2: of like pick up artists like questions. But at the
- 14:42Speaker 2: same time, yeah, it feels like it could be either
- 14:47Speaker 2: pick up artist or it can be I'm just trying
- 14:50Speaker 2: to get to know you. But it just feels a
- 14:52Speaker 2: little pickup artist Tony.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Yeah, a little forced maybe is kind of what I
- 14:56Speaker 3: felt like. It felt really forced and it was you know,
- 14:59Speaker 3: but I get it. It's good on this show to
- 15:02Speaker 3: be intentional and to ask those questions as early as possible.
- 15:06Speaker 3: I do think there is a way to go about it.
- 15:09Speaker 3: That Grant just kind of dove in. Good for him,
- 15:12Speaker 3: not no criticism there, but he did just dive in
- 15:15Speaker 3: right away. He was like, Hey, I have two minutes
- 15:17Speaker 3: to talk to you. What's your biggest fear, what's your
- 15:19Speaker 3: biggest mistake? Tell me everything.
- 15:21Speaker 2: Me feel awkward, like, I don't think I would respond
- 15:24Speaker 2: in that way, like I want more of a playful
- 15:26Speaker 2: back and forth conversation. But I also understand that that's
- 15:30Speaker 2: the kind of questioning that she feels like appreciated by
- 15:35Speaker 2: being asked.
- 15:36Speaker 3: I think she does. I mean, it does. It always
- 15:38Speaker 3: is nice to have somebody ask about you. And in
- 15:41Speaker 3: this experience, at least when I was a bachelor, I
- 15:43Speaker 3: don't I remember people being curious about me, but it
- 15:47Speaker 3: was a lot of me being curious about them. You know,
- 15:49Speaker 3: you're kind of the lead here in a lot of ways,
- 15:52Speaker 3: and you're guiding conversations, and you're you're the one that
- 15:56Speaker 3: feels like you're in charge of the conversation. I'm sure
- 15:59Speaker 3: Jen feels that way very very often, and so it
- 16:01Speaker 3: is nice to kind of be set back and be like, no,
- 16:03Speaker 3: tell me about you. Who are you?
- 16:06Speaker 2: Yeah, just takes the pressure off for a minute.
- 16:09Speaker 3: It does of having to be the one that's.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Carrying the conversation anyway. And then Jonathan. She also likes Jonathan,
- 16:15Speaker 2: and like I said, I thought Jonathan is pretty darn cute.
- 16:19Speaker 2: I know, it's quite the surprise after coming in in
- 16:21Speaker 2: a hospital gown and his face wrapped last week. He's
- 16:26Speaker 2: he doesn't scream like final three to me, but top
- 16:31Speaker 2: six ish. He's ranking up there so far.
- 16:34Speaker 3: I mean, I think he has a legit shot at it.
- 16:37Speaker 3: He and Marcus feel very similar to me in terms
- 16:41Speaker 3: of how she feels about them. I do think there's
- 16:44Speaker 3: some longevity.
- 16:46Speaker 2: Yeah, they're like the second tier of feelings.
- 16:49Speaker 3: Yeah, but there's longevity in it, right, So they're not
- 16:51Speaker 3: the initial shock and awe, the hot and heavy, Yeah,
- 16:55Speaker 3: but it does feel like it could be two that last.
- 16:59Speaker 3: Because they're right there, we're not getting a lot of
- 17:02Speaker 3: I mean, obviously Marcus had a one on one, but
- 17:04Speaker 3: we're not getting a ton from them yet. Even though
- 17:06Speaker 3: Marcus had a one on one and he shared his
- 17:09Speaker 3: incredible story and what he's done for this country, I
- 17:13Speaker 3: don't feel like we he has the camera time as
- 17:18Speaker 3: others because outside of the one on one, we don't
- 17:20Speaker 3: see a lot from him we see a lot of
- 17:22Speaker 3: the arguments, we don't see a lot from Marcus. I
- 17:24Speaker 3: do think that's a sign that long term he'll be around.
- 17:29Speaker 5: Oh okay, so I was gonna say, you can flip
- 17:32Speaker 5: it and say that Marcus is the guy that she
- 17:35Speaker 5: would love to love, but may it may not be
- 17:39Speaker 5: there romantically.
- 17:41Speaker 3: Well off, d Wayne and see, they're definitely you know,
- 17:44Speaker 3: he'd be in my top four right now if we
- 17:46Speaker 3: did a top four, and we'll start here at the
- 17:48Speaker 3: end of the episode, but let's not even to the
- 17:49Speaker 3: Marcus story right away. Then he does have a one
- 17:51Speaker 3: on one. They have a really cool day where they
- 17:55Speaker 3: get to jump out of a plane. So glad that
- 17:56Speaker 3: did not happen on my season.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Have you ever done that?
- 18:00Speaker 3: Okay no, yeah, not not something that I'm asking to do.
- 18:05Speaker 3: I thought the show had gotten away from it because.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Of the legality protocol.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Yeah, but they're obviously, you know, if they go to Australia,
- 18:12Speaker 3: maybe rules don't apply. But they do jump out of
- 18:16Speaker 3: a plane, and then at dinner they do connect at
- 18:18Speaker 3: a deeper level and Marcus does get to share his story.
- 18:22Speaker 3: I think, no matter what, it is a life story
- 18:27Speaker 3: that when you when he shares it with you, there's
- 18:30Speaker 3: a respect, there's an admiration, there's an appreciation. There's also
- 18:34Speaker 3: kind of a an understanding of who this guy is
- 18:37Speaker 3: after he shares it, Like you know, you know a
- 18:39Speaker 3: little bit more of what you're getting. You don't know
- 18:40Speaker 3: the whole picture, but you know he's loyal, he cares,
- 18:44Speaker 3: he serves, and that he's tough as nails.
- 18:47Speaker 5: Mm hmm.
- 18:48Speaker 2: Yeah, he's just like kind of the quintessential guy that
- 18:53Speaker 2: you're like, that's a stand up man that you want
- 18:56Speaker 2: to find and hopefully you have chemistry with them.
- 18:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:00Speaker 2: He he just seems like what you just said, like
- 19:05Speaker 2: he's got a lot of heart and soul. He's going
- 19:08Speaker 2: to be a hard egg to crack. He did a
- 19:12Speaker 2: great job though he keeps talking about how he's not
- 19:16Speaker 2: like super vocal when it comes to emotions, but he
- 19:21Speaker 2: really opened up and you can tell that there's going
- 19:24Speaker 2: to be so much more to him even when when
- 19:26Speaker 2: he opens up further. And yeah, once you tell that
- 19:30Speaker 2: story about how you know, he was sent over to
- 19:34Speaker 2: Afghanistan a number of times and on his last trip
- 19:39Speaker 2: over there, he got sent back was in the hospital
- 19:42Speaker 2: for like two months. You know that like once he
- 19:45Speaker 2: opens up about that, he's going to be more comfortable
- 19:47Speaker 2: opening up about pretty much everything else.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Yeah, he's one to watch for sure. It's a great
- 19:52Speaker 3: one on one date and then moves us into the
- 19:53Speaker 3: group date. The group date is a photo shoot with
- 19:56Speaker 3: animals from Australia. I think this is awesome.
- 19:58Speaker 2: I love this group date.
- 20:00Speaker 3: This is great. It's super fun, it's easy. It's also it's.
- 20:03Speaker 2: A great watch for us, Like, it's just fun for
- 20:05Speaker 2: us to watch. I agree, and Hikeim is just I
- 20:09Speaker 2: want him to be in my top four now because
- 20:11Speaker 2: he is hilarious. He has those crazy eyes and it
- 20:15Speaker 2: makes very expressive eyes. And the dude with the spider,
- 20:20Speaker 2: like I knew that the spider was gonna come, and
- 20:22Speaker 2: the fact that of course he's like, just don't want
- 20:24Speaker 2: to be a spider, just don't wanted to be a spider.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Of course a spider. His reaction to it was just
- 20:30Speaker 2: so freaking funny. And I love him for this because
- 20:34Speaker 2: the spider would have been the one that I dread
- 20:36Speaker 2: the most. Put that big snake around my neck far
- 20:40Speaker 2: before have the spider crawl up my shoulder.
- 20:45Speaker 3: Yeah, there are so many animals there. They were like
- 20:46Speaker 3: of course you can have a little like furry thing
- 20:49Speaker 3: on your hands, and then he gets a spider. It
- 20:51Speaker 3: was great television. I like that nobody took it negatively.
- 20:55Speaker 3: That everybody's like, I get a man, that thing's creepy,
- 20:57Speaker 3: Like I feel you. I don't know if I hate
- 21:00Speaker 3: that much, but I know that there are things that
- 21:04Speaker 3: you could put on me, like a big snake around
- 21:06Speaker 3: my neck. That'd be like, no, not my deal, don't
- 21:08Speaker 3: want this to happen.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Oh but Dylan did.
- 21:12Speaker 3: He stud just actualely rocked it. Great for him. He
- 21:15Speaker 3: really showed off, showed up there in that moment. But
- 21:18Speaker 3: I'm glad nobody took it negatively from Khakim. I'm glad
- 21:21Speaker 3: they all laughed about it. Jen almost looked like she
- 21:24Speaker 3: was judging him a little bit based on his reaction,
- 21:28Speaker 3: But once the snake came out, I think she was like,
- 21:30Speaker 3: I get it now, No, I'm good, Like we're on
- 21:32Speaker 3: the same page here.
- 21:33Speaker 2: You thought that Jen was kind of judging Hikim's reaction, right.
- 21:36Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. It almost looked like she was looking at
- 21:39Speaker 3: him like, come on, dude, step up.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Exactly, And I was thinking, oh my gosh, this girl
- 21:44Speaker 2: must really not have a fear of spiders, because to me,
- 21:47Speaker 2: I would have been one cracking up and being like,
- 21:50Speaker 2: please don't do this for me, kakm, do not do
- 21:53Speaker 2: this for me? Is I don't want no idea?
- 21:57Speaker 3: Well laughed about this later. You don't have to touch it,
- 22:00Speaker 3: It's fine. But then the snake came out and she
- 22:01Speaker 3: had the same reaction, and so then I think there
- 22:04Speaker 3: was a leveled the playing field. She said, I get
- 22:06Speaker 3: it now, we're all good.
- 22:08Speaker 2: You're either afraid of spiders or afraid of.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Snakes, unless you're that guy that was passing him out.
- 22:12Speaker 3: He seemed afraid of nothing. The group date was great,
- 22:28Speaker 3: it was a good watch, and the cocktail party got
- 22:30Speaker 3: a little discombobulated. It got a little bit funky. Right well,
- 22:35Speaker 3: there was.
- 22:35Speaker 2: No cocktail party because Dylan went straight to the date.
- 22:39Speaker 3: It was the What I'm thinking of is when they
- 22:40Speaker 3: all went back.
- 22:41Speaker 2: To the hotel.
- 22:42Speaker 3: The hotel was where things got a little bit messy.
- 22:45Speaker 3: It started to fire up a little bit. The one
- 22:48Speaker 3: only time was good, but the house was We were
- 22:52Speaker 3: starting to get a sense of what the next few
- 22:56Speaker 3: weeks of this season probably is going to look like.
- 22:58Speaker 3: And this is where I really somebody could step up
- 23:01Speaker 3: who wasn't involved in the drama and could just say, hey, guys,
- 23:04Speaker 3: can we stop this, Like, what are we doing here?
- 23:06Speaker 3: This is all stupid.
- 23:07Speaker 2: I didn't like it. Okay, So the guys apparently convene
- 23:11Speaker 2: in the car and they say that, like, you know,
- 23:15Speaker 2: I'm assuming they had this conversation. We're gonna ask these guys,
- 23:19Speaker 2: because we didn't have a group nighttime portion, we would
- 23:24Speaker 2: like to make clear that we would like to be
- 23:28Speaker 2: the priority at the cocktail party at the end of
- 23:31Speaker 2: the week. And that is the corniest thing ever that
- 23:35Speaker 2: makes me not like these guys. This is again protocol
- 23:40Speaker 2: on the show that you go and you know, like
- 23:44Speaker 2: sometimes group dates end up one on one day, it's
- 23:47Speaker 2: at the end of it, and then you go to
- 23:49Speaker 2: the cocktail party and you fight for yourself. You don't
- 23:51Speaker 2: have a group meeting about who's gonna have more time
- 23:57Speaker 2: or the first time at the cocktail party the next day.
- 24:01Speaker 2: But anyway, that's what they decide to do. Go upstairs,
- 24:05Speaker 2: present this idea to the other guys that are just
- 24:08Speaker 2: sitting there waiting, and I guess, like some guys not
- 24:13Speaker 2: in the grands, and Devin is like Devin's like, yeah,
- 24:19Speaker 2: I understand, yeah, yeah, yeah, We'll make sure that you
- 24:21Speaker 2: guys have priority. But he goes, but he does say,
- 24:27Speaker 2: but it doesn't mean. First of line, it doesn't mean
- 24:31Speaker 2: that I'm going to like sit out. And then the
- 24:35Speaker 2: next day we get to that cocktail party and it
- 24:39Speaker 2: is drama because he takes her away.
- 24:44Speaker 3: First two things here, One is these guys come back
- 24:48Speaker 3: thinking they're owed this time.
- 24:49Speaker 2: That's what I mean. It's gross.
- 24:51Speaker 3: It's always a weird thing on the show. Honestly, if
- 24:55Speaker 3: they have an issue with how this evening went for
- 24:58Speaker 3: them and that they didn't get time, you got to
- 24:59Speaker 3: take the up with Gin because Jin's the one that
- 25:02Speaker 3: decided to send you all home. She's the one that
- 25:04Speaker 3: stayed back with Dylan. She's the one that said the
- 25:06Speaker 3: rest of you goodbye, good riddance, go home, go you
- 25:09Speaker 3: do your thing. This is not the other guy's problem.
- 25:12Speaker 3: Don't make your problems my problems. We say it very
- 25:14Speaker 3: often here on the show. And it feels like these
- 25:16Speaker 3: guys are going to try to make their problem with
- 25:18Speaker 3: not getting time the other guy's problem, and they're all
- 25:21Speaker 3: going to get together and have this really nice moment
- 25:23Speaker 3: be like yeah, you know what, I'll support you because
- 25:27Speaker 3: why we're not friends yet, Like we don't know each
- 25:30Speaker 3: other really yet. I don't owe you anything here. And
- 25:35Speaker 3: at the same time, if you don't get your own time,
- 25:39Speaker 3: like if you haven't found out how to do that,
- 25:40Speaker 3: you're mad at Devin for pulling him away during a
- 25:43Speaker 3: group date, you could have done the same thing during
- 25:45Speaker 3: this photoshoot.
- 25:46Speaker 2: I know these guys from the first group date to
- 25:49Speaker 2: the second group date, they like want everything to do
- 25:51Speaker 2: like fair and balanced. Here it's like, well, this is
- 25:54Speaker 2: not this is a bachelorette. Well, I don't know what
- 25:57Speaker 2: kind of show you think you're on.
- 25:59Speaker 3: It's just very weird because here's the truth. These guys
- 26:02Speaker 3: are legitimately upset. They're not actors. Nobody's paying them to
- 26:05Speaker 3: get upset. These guys are somehow finding a way to
- 26:07Speaker 3: get mad at Devon, And like I always say, the
- 26:11Speaker 3: producers could be in their heads being like, aren't you
- 26:13Speaker 3: so upset with Devin? How stupid is it that Devon's
- 26:15Speaker 3: doing this? And these guys are like, yeah, yeah, I'm
- 26:17Speaker 3: gonna go at him. But they're not forcing them to
- 26:20Speaker 3: say a word. You have a choice here to say
- 26:22Speaker 3: something or not say something. These guys are all choosing
- 26:24Speaker 3: to say something to choosing to let this rile them
- 26:27Speaker 3: up and ruin this experience. It could be really great
- 26:29Speaker 3: for them. At this point in time on the show,
- 26:32Speaker 3: they have no reason to need to really stand out.
- 26:34Speaker 3: They just got to make it another week. There's like
- 26:36Speaker 3: twenty dudes there. Let those dudes sabotage themselves. Let them
- 26:39Speaker 3: blow the whole thing up, and then you can come
- 26:40Speaker 3: in at the end and be like, hey, by the way, Jen,
- 26:44Speaker 3: I'm still here.
- 26:45Speaker 2: They really thought that they were going to walk into
- 26:46Speaker 2: the cocktail party and be like, Okay, your turn, you
- 26:49Speaker 2: turn your turn. You're turned weird awkwards with you so weird.
- 26:55Speaker 2: So Dylan takes her or sorry, Devin takes her and yeah, yea,
- 27:00Speaker 2: was he going to look was were they gonna hate
- 27:04Speaker 2: him for this? Yes, but he did say not necessarily
- 27:08Speaker 2: giving you guys first dibbs. And then he goes up
- 27:12Speaker 2: there talks to her, and then Thomas goes marching upstairs
- 27:16Speaker 2: in one of the most embarrassing moments I've seen so
- 27:19Speaker 2: early on in the show, and he's like you, pulls
- 27:23Speaker 2: him aside and says, we talked about this. You're being disrespectful.
- 27:28Speaker 2: The fact that he didn't think that one pulling him
- 27:33Speaker 2: aside and spending wasting time on talking to Devin was
- 27:39Speaker 2: one gonna look bad, and two just having this confrontation
- 27:44Speaker 2: in front of Jen wasn't going to look bad. Like
- 27:47Speaker 2: what was going through his head that thought this was
- 27:50Speaker 2: the right move.
- 27:52Speaker 3: There's nothing that could have been going through his head
- 27:53Speaker 3: that thought this was the right move, because it wasn't.
- 27:55Speaker 3: He wasn't thinking clearly.
- 27:57Speaker 2: He was hyped on the drama, just like drinking it up.
- 28:01Speaker 3: He got very obsessed with it and then just ran
- 28:03Speaker 3: up to it. And then you know, if you do
- 28:05Speaker 3: this behind the scenes, sometimes Jen doesn't even find out.
- 28:08Speaker 3: Lee never even knows he needed this right in front
- 28:10Speaker 3: of her, Like she's very very much now, Jen's very smart,
- 28:13Speaker 3: she knows she goes. I know exactly who this guy is.
- 28:16Speaker 3: He is he is the disruptor. He is the guy
- 28:19Speaker 3: that's going to tell me at some point that somebody's
- 28:20Speaker 3: not here for the right reasons, and it's because he
- 28:23Speaker 3: doesn't get along with everybody and he doesn't like somebody.
- 28:26Speaker 3: So he's just pretty much telling me he doesn't like
- 28:28Speaker 3: this person. And then I'm gonna have to send him
- 28:31Speaker 3: home at some point. I'm going to two and one
- 28:32Speaker 3: with this guy. Send him home at some point because
- 28:35Speaker 3: that's going to be the ass. But it doesn't look
- 28:38Speaker 3: good for him from this point forward. It looks really.
- 28:41Speaker 2: Oddome, really hard to recover from this.
- 28:44Speaker 3: Yeah, it's really hard to recover from this.
- 28:46Speaker 2: It is okay any non Devin drama to talk about
- 28:52Speaker 2: during the cocktail party.
- 28:54Speaker 3: There really isn't. It kind of takes up the whole
- 28:56Speaker 3: thing right until the very end, where obviously Devin still
- 28:59Speaker 3: gets a rose here another week now. I don't want
- 29:01Speaker 3: anybody listen to this and think I'm in team Devin exactly.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Like I'm not saying I like the dude.
- 29:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm just saying I don't get it yet, Like
- 29:08Speaker 3: I don't know why this guy, out of anybody there
- 29:11Speaker 3: is the one that's upsetting some people so much. I
- 29:14Speaker 3: also want to know more about Aaron. I think Aaron's
- 29:16Speaker 3: story is not even close to being finished. I had
- 29:19Speaker 3: high expectations for Aaron because he has Noah's brother, and
- 29:22Speaker 3: he did come in probably with some insight into the show.
- 29:24Speaker 3: Yet he chooses to come onto the show fired up
- 29:27Speaker 3: from the beginning. I'm hoping that cools down a bit
- 29:29Speaker 3: because I want to like him, I want to root
- 29:31Speaker 3: for him, I want to get to know him. But
- 29:32Speaker 3: right now we're seeing none of that outside of his
- 29:34Speaker 3: arguments with Devin and even the kind of the awkwardness
- 29:40Speaker 3: with jen by kind of reintroducing himself, and she's like,
- 29:43Speaker 3: I just saw you today, Like what do you think
- 29:45Speaker 3: we do here? Like you get five minutes with me
- 29:47Speaker 3: at these first couple of weeks, Like I know you
- 29:49Speaker 3: don't make me feel bad or make me question if
- 29:52Speaker 3: you're upset that you don't know me well enough for that.
- 29:54Speaker 3: I haven't spend enough time with you. I haven't spend
- 29:56Speaker 3: enough time with anybody yet.
- 29:57Speaker 2: He makes me feel super uncomfortable. Well, watching human makes
- 30:01Speaker 2: me feel weird, well.
- 30:02Speaker 3: One hundred percent, And the expectation is way too much
- 30:04Speaker 3: right now. Like if you're again, if you're going to
- 30:06Speaker 3: be a partner to Gin, one of the things you
- 30:07Speaker 3: look at as the lead at the beginning is who's
- 30:09Speaker 3: actually been a partner to me? Like, who is letting
- 30:11Speaker 3: me try to take a break, who is keeping it chill,
- 30:13Speaker 3: Who's maybe asking me some questions? So I'm not like
- 30:16Speaker 3: the only one conversing here to myself and just wonder,
- 30:19Speaker 3: you know, like give her some space and show her
- 30:23Speaker 3: that you can be a good partner. And part of
- 30:25Speaker 3: being a partner is understanding where they're at in life.
- 30:27Speaker 3: And right now Gin is in some chaos. She's trying
- 30:30Speaker 3: to figure out what all your names are. For goodness sake,
- 30:32Speaker 3: give her a break on if you like she spent
- 30:34Speaker 3: enough time with you or who she spent more time with.
- 30:36Speaker 3: She doesn't know anybody yet, Like, just let her chill
- 30:40Speaker 3: and then as this continues, we'll see the deeper relationships
- 30:43Speaker 3: for him.
- 30:43Speaker 2: Yeah. Also, I'll give the guys a second of benefit
- 30:47Speaker 2: of the doubt, just because you know how last season
- 30:51Speaker 2: I had I didn't have to. I wanted to and
- 30:56Speaker 2: new parts of the story in which we're missing with
- 31:00Speaker 2: Sydney's storyline, and I had a lot of sympathy for
- 31:04Speaker 2: her because some things aren't, of course shown on TV.
- 31:08Speaker 2: So I'm just thinking watching this episode, was there something
- 31:13Speaker 2: missing that Devin said? Devin did that riled these guys
- 31:17Speaker 2: up so hot?
- 31:18Speaker 3: We're not seeing any of that yet. Again, as I
- 31:20Speaker 3: said last season to you, actually we only know what
- 31:22Speaker 3: we know and what we see I know, so you know,
- 31:26Speaker 3: we'll play those games of what about this and what
- 31:28Speaker 3: about that? But then that doesn't do anybody any good
- 31:30Speaker 3: because we don't know. We can make assumptions, we can guess,
- 31:35Speaker 3: but we don't know. We know what we see, and
- 31:37Speaker 3: that's who we're here to talk to is the audience
- 31:39Speaker 3: that also is watching this alongside of us.
- 31:42Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, the guys that were eliminated, and there was
- 31:46Speaker 2: absolutely no Shockers in that group.
- 31:50Speaker 3: I just don't know anybody's name it this, so we
- 31:52Speaker 3: didn't know the names. Yeah, so like it does even work,
- 31:55Speaker 3: you know? For me, it's like, okay, good give in
- 31:57Speaker 3: two weeks, I'll start knowing these guys' names. I don't
- 31:59Speaker 3: know all these guys names. Yeah, I know like four
- 32:01Speaker 3: of them. That's why the top four is kind of difficult.
- 32:04Speaker 3: But we are going to do. Our top four is Ashley.
- 32:07Speaker 3: I'll start with my top four. I think a Keem
- 32:10Speaker 3: and Marcus are in the top four.
- 32:12Speaker 2: Are queen there?
- 32:13Speaker 3: Heck? Yeah, who else would I put at four?
- 32:16Speaker 2: He's my top four?
- 32:17Speaker 3: Yeah, And then I'm going to do Grant and Sam.
- 32:22Speaker 3: I do think Sam is probably going to be in
- 32:25Speaker 3: the top four the least amount of time. For me,
- 32:27Speaker 3: I just get this feeling that something's.
- 32:29Speaker 2: Going to background Sam as in sham Booth, Sam Sean
- 32:33Speaker 2: both meets Chase McNary.
- 32:36Speaker 3: Sure, great, and then Hakeem and Marcus.
- 32:40Speaker 2: Okay, okay, so I will change a little bit. I
- 32:46Speaker 2: think top four is definitely Sam, definitely Grant and Dylan
- 32:57Speaker 2: and like that, and then probably Marcus.
- 33:02Speaker 3: Yeah gotta be Marcus.
- 33:03Speaker 2: Yeah, but I think that Marcus is.
- 33:06Speaker 3: The fourth fair that's okay right now?
- 33:08Speaker 2: Oh and then yeah, okay, so Dylan, Marcus, Sam and
- 33:14Speaker 2: who else?
- 33:15Speaker 3: I say, there's Grant, there's Jonathan, Grant, Grant.
- 33:17Speaker 2: I put Grant in there, and then Jonathan is my
- 33:20Speaker 2: top five. He's my like alternate's.
- 33:24Speaker 3: He's on the bench right now. Yeah, but another good
- 33:27Speaker 3: episode from Jin. I absolutely love her is a bachelorette.
- 33:29Speaker 3: I think she's fantastic. I think she's a catch. I
- 33:32Speaker 3: hope some of these dudes step up. I think there's
- 33:34Speaker 3: a few that definitely are. But she deserves a really
- 33:38Speaker 3: great guy, and I'm hoping she finds it from this mix.
- 33:41Speaker 3: I'm not confident she will yet. I just I at
- 33:44Speaker 3: our kind of theory last week is maybe playing on
- 33:48Speaker 3: my head more than ever that she might not end
- 33:50Speaker 3: up with anybody, because I don't know if there's a
- 33:51Speaker 3: guy here yet that she likes enough, that she likes
- 33:55Speaker 3: enough well to see.
- 33:57Speaker 2: Sam, she likes enough. But it's physical, yeah.
- 33:59Speaker 3: And that comes and goes. We all get old at
- 34:01Speaker 3: some point, Ashley, I really am excited for the week
- 34:05Speaker 3: ahead for you. I hope you're not here the next
- 34:07Speaker 3: time we record, but you may be. And I'm only
- 34:10Speaker 3: hoping you're not here because I'm hoping that you're a
- 34:12Speaker 3: mother of two at that point and that you're yeah, wild,
- 34:16Speaker 3: you kind of take a break. I can't believe some
- 34:19Speaker 3: of the last freedom time in your life is being
- 34:22Speaker 3: spent with me on this show. But that's just how
- 34:24Speaker 3: much you love the listeners, and we do love you listeners.
