- 0:08There are rules to surviving a horror movie.
- 0:11Don't split up, don't investigate the noise, and never say, "I'll be right
- 0:17back." Here, three friends break down the scares, the kills, the monsters,
- 0:24and the terrible decisions that got everyone there in the first place.
- 0:28We rate the scares, we roast the victims, and we ask the important
- 0:33question, would we survive?
- 0:37So dim the lights, pour the drinks, and prepare for spoilers.
- 0:43This is the Scarier Things Club.
- 0:48Hi.
- 0:49Hello.
- 0:49Welcome back to the Scarier Things Club.
- 0:51We're so happy that you're here.
- 0:52Luna decided that was the perfect time to jump up on the table and join
- 0:56us, so if you're watching, uh, well, you're, you're not watching, but if
- 1:00you're listening, just imagine a really furry, shedding cat on the table.
- 1:05It's just, she couldn't have picked a better time.
- 1:07We're so happy to be here.
- 1:08We're happy that you're joining us.
- 1:09You know, last, last couple episodes, we thought we had a, a schedule down.
- 1:14We said that we were going to watch Trick or Treat, and Halloween . Luna's
- 1:18trying to take out Beth's microphone.
- 1:21Oh my gosh, you can just push her off the table.
- 1:22No, I love her.
- 1:24Oh, she's just a baby.
- 1:25I'm just a baby.
- 1:26I just need to have pets.
- 1:28And so we, you know, we had planned, like I said, to do Trick or Treat or Halloween,
- 1:34and then I think I saw a post somewhere that today's movie, Passenger, plot twist,
- 1:40has recently been released to streaming.
- 1:42And so we said we need to be a part of that.
- 1:45Um, and so it is available for free on streaming if you have Paramount Plus.
- 1:51It can also be rented though, so I rented this movie on Fandango for,
- 1:54like, four bucks which is not too bad.
- 1:56No.
- 1:57And so that's what we were gonna be discussing today.
- 2:00If you have a chance definitely watch it before listening to this episode.
- 2:04So if you watch Trick or Treat, and you're like, "What the heck? You do-
- 2:07y'all are doing this again," yes.
- 2:10And you know what?
- 2:10Honestly, we can't promise that this is going to be the last time.
- 2:14No, I think we reserve the right to veer from whatever the wheel says- Yes … or
- 2:19whatever we have decided when a timely opportunity comes along, and- Exactly
- 2:27like something comes out to streaming or we, you know- Yeah … something
- 2:30comes out in the theater that we wanna spend the money on.
- 2:33Yeah, we make the rules, so- That's right … start watching.
- 2:36It's our podcast.
- 2:36It's our podcast, dang it.
- 2:38And so we'll be doing Passenger for this episode, and then for our next episode,
- 2:42we will be discussing Trick or Treat.
- 2:45So pause, watch the movie, then come back and join us.
- 2:48So- Yeah, do not listen to this before you watch this movie.
- 2:52Yeah.
- 2:52Like- Please watch it … there are some that I'm like, it's been a
- 2:55long time, like, if you wanna listen to our podcast before you watch
- 2:58Alien or some garbage like that, like- We're still hating on Alien
- 3:02that's fine.
- 3:02But this one don't ruin this movie for yourself.
- 3:05Yeah.
- 3:06Okay.
- 3:06With, with that, I'm excited to hear what you thought about it 'cause
- 3:09I had low expectations going into it Oh, I had high expectations.
- 3:13Oh, you did?
- 3:13'Cause the, I remember the trailer I remember really freaking me out.
- 3:17Yeah.
- 3:17And but I couldn't really remem- they didn't tell you really
- 3:20much of what it was about.
- 3:22Right.
- 3:22It was just, had a jump scare in it, and I was like, "Okay." Yeah.
- 3:25"That I wanna see." So then when we saw that it was available, I was
- 3:29like, "We got to get on that." Yes.
- 3:31'Cause I so want to watch this movie.
- 3:32Yes.
- 3:33Okay, great.
- 3:33So before we get too deep into it let's do a quick set the scene.
- 3:37So this movie covers, um, a couple, Maddie and Tyler, and they have abandoned the
- 3:43city life to live in a van and travel.
- 3:47Um, and in the middle of the night they come across an accident, and
- 3:52everything just goes haywire from there.
- 3:54They get they get stalked by this entity, and so it's them trying to figure
- 4:01out what to do, how to get rid of it, and how to survive while on the road.
- 4:05That kinda made me wonder, you know, I'm sitting here thinking,
- 4:08what can I bring to the club today?
- 4:09I like to bring questions.
- 4:11I like to hear about y'all's experiences and y'all's life.
- 4:14Y'all have some funny stories, especially between the two of you.
- 4:17So what I bring to the club today is tell me about or do you have
- 4:24any memorable road trip mishaps?
- 4:28I didn't really.
- 4:29I c- I have a couple, like, short ones.
- 4:32At first I didn't think that we had any.
- 4:34I couldn't really think of many things, like, while we were on the road that
- 4:38went wrong, but then we were sitting here and we were about to start, and
- 4:41I was like, "Wait a minute. There is one." And Mark and I had gone on a
- 4:49trip to a concert with a couple of our friends, and it was really, we
- 4:55hadn't known them too terribly long.
- 4:58I mean, probably, like, a couple of years, so like, after we had moved to this area.
- 5:01Yeah.
- 5:02And we were on our way home
- 5:06um, we had stopped and gotten coffees- Okay … on our way out, and then
- 5:13I had said, now this is also in a time, I think I had started drinking
- 5:18a lot of water at that point, so I had multiple cups back here-
- 5:21Okay … with me and- … the, the girl.
- 5:23Yeah.
- 5:23The guys were up front.
- 5:24And Mark was driving and I said, "I have, we have a lot going on back
- 5:31here, so just be careful driving."
- 5:35And it wasn't too long after that, that the whole car- … just like Fast
- 5:42and Furious went, like, took a U-turn.
- 5:47And I thought that maybe we needed gas.
- 5:53But then I found out later that Mark slung coffee all… I had sandals on.
- 5:59Oh.
- 5:59So then people's full sugar coffee comes all over my feet.
- 6:03Oh, no.
- 6:04I'm so disgusted.
- 6:05I hate feet anyway.
- 6:06Yeah.
- 6:07We have mentioned on here that I don't do bare feet.
- 6:09Well, I had my, my dogs exposed- You were out of rhythm … in sandals.
- 6:15And then so s- and they came, of course, to my side, so I'm
- 6:18just soaked in coffee and sugar.
- 6:21And I was like, "Okay, I hate this." And then he went inside.
- 6:27Turns out this fool pulled all of that for some Casey's breakfast pizza.
- 6:33I have heard this story before.
- 6:34Which if you haven't had Casey's breakfast pizza- … it is delicious and absolutely
- 6:38worth doing an aggressive U-turn for.
- 6:41Not worth a marital problem.
- 6:42Okay.
- 6:42I have a question, though.
- 6:43I mean, we live in the land of Casey's.
- 6:45I mean, it's not like, it's not like this is, like, a Trader Joe's- Amen
- 6:49We can't miss this experience.
- 6:51So what about it at that point where you're like, "Oh, heck no, I, this
- 6:54is, this right here is worth it"?
- 6:56I mean, I was hungry.
- 6:58And all that We're in the middle of nowhere and, and there was a
- 7:00Casey's that we had just driven past.
- 7:03Was this late at night?
- 7:04No.
- 7:04No.
- 7:04No, it was the middle of the day.
- 7:05There was no traffic though.
- 7:06I mean, I'm, I'm happy that there's no traffic- Yeah … but
- 7:10that's just, I imagine this, like, in the middle of the night.
- 7:12Nah, it was the middle of the day.
- 7:13Like driving back from the concert.
- 7:14No.
- 7:14No, breakfast pizza.
- 7:15And God don't like ugly, 'cause you didn't even get a piece
- 7:17anyway, 'cause the person-
- 7:18in front of you got the last one.
- 7:19Which is, which is one of the problems with Casey's is sometimes- … you
- 7:22walk in there and- What did you do?
- 7:24Were you so mad?
- 7:26I think you got something else.
- 7:27I was bummed, but I wasn't mad.
- 7:29Ugh.
- 7:29No, I was the only one mad.
- 7:31Yeah.
- 7:31Yeah.
- 7:31She was mad.
- 7:32I was just the one suffering for it.
- 7:33Plus you got sticky dogs after that.
- 7:34Yes.
- 7:35So I think one of the, one of our friends had, like, a bottle of water or something.
- 7:39Oh.
- 7:39So I was out by the gas pump just pouring water on myself.
- 7:43Excellent.
- 7:43Excellent, yes.
- 7:44And then we had, you know, six hours to drive.
- 7:47What c- holy cow, where did you go for a concert?
- 7:49We went to Lincoln, Nebraska.
- 7:52Okay.
- 7:52Which is really not that bad of a drive.
- 7:54It's a boring drive- Yeah … but the arena that's right there, there
- 7:58are hotels plenty, like, on that square within walking distance, so
- 8:03you don't have to do the whole, like, after-concert parking lot thing.
- 8:07Yeah.
- 8:07You just walk out and walk a couple of blocks down and you're back at your hotel.
- 8:11Oh, that's nice.
- 8:11Um, and it's so nice.
- 8:14Yeah.
- 8:14But we haven't been in a while.
- 8:16But we saw Alan Jackson, that was his la- we saw, we've seen Chris Stapleton
- 8:19there- Oh, okay … and Alan Jackson.
- 8:21How cool.
- 8:22I bet Chris Stapleton was awesome live.
- 8:23He was.
- 8:24He was sick when we saw him.
- 8:26Yeah.
- 8:26But he was still- Still good though
- 8:28amazing.
- 8:28Yeah.
- 8:28I feel like he is underrated.
- 8:30Like, why is he not- I think lately, yeah, 'cause he had, Like, he's way
- 8:33better than, like, Morgan Wallen or- Oh- I don't like- … a million times
- 8:37… yeah … more talent, songwriting and singing- Yeah … just so much better.
- 8:41But, um, yeah, 'cause he, he had Tennessee Whiskey.
- 8:43It blew up huge.
- 8:44Right.
- 8:44And I think some of his other stuff does well, but for some reason, I
- 8:49think maybe because his shows are very much, "I'm standing here and I'm
- 8:54singing and you're gonna listen to it," and it's, it's great to hear-
- 8:57Yeah … people like Morgan Wallen and stuff, they're, like, running around.
- 9:01They have- Oh, okay
- 9:01all kinds of spectacle.
- 9:02Yeah.
- 9:02It's more of like a just chill and sing along to the songs type- … show.
- 9:05Do you sit down and watch him?
- 9:08Um, there were a lot of people doing either way.
- 9:11Yeah.
- 9:12I feel like we were seated… I can't remember.
- 9:13I think we were most of the time.
- 9:15Okay.
- 9:15Yeah.
- 9:15Which w- but we were pretty far back.
- 9:17Oh, okay.
- 9:17So at that point it's like, "I'm just gonna enjoy this." Right.
- 9:20Yeah, we were, we were up in the nosebleeds.
- 9:22Okay.
- 9:22Have y'all ever been to the BOK?
- 9:24Yes.
- 9:25Yeah.
- 9:25Have you ever s- We saw Paramore there.
- 9:26Oh, I bet that was- It was incredible.
- 9:28So, but that was like a couple years ago.
- 9:30Yeah.
- 9:30That's like pretty recent, right?
- 9:31Mm-hmm.
- 9:32That just like makes me think of like the BOK nosebleeds, where it's
- 9:36like a safety hazard- Ooh … I feel like, for you to be standing up.
- 9:39Well, yeah, and that's how I felt, uh, at Garth Brooks at Razorback Stadium.
- 9:44Oh, like way up at the top.
- 9:45Because we were at the… Nicole and a group of us were at the next to
- 9:50the last- row from the guardrail.
- 9:53The very back, backity back.
- 9:54And I was like, "Whoo." Yeah, it's like a- "It's a completely different temperature
- 9:58up here than it is everywhere else." Yes.
- 10:00And, um- Birds are running into my head.
- 10:02Yeah.
- 10:03Oh my g- It was scary … could you imagine?
- 10:04No, ma'am.
- 10:05No, ma'am.
- 10:06I could not.
- 10:07I could not.
- 10:07I would just have to leave.
- 10:08Garth would have to just take my money and- Yeah … i'm bouncing.
- 10:11Yes.
- 10:12That's hilarious.
- 10:13That is funny.
- 10:15So that's my mishap, honestly.
- 10:17Or your, it was really- I- … your mishap- I don't really consider that a
- 10:19mishap … that turned into a problem for the rest- Because- … the car
- 10:22180'd exactly as I wanted it to.
- 10:24The mishap was really just the coffee- What if you had rolled?
- 10:28… that was not secured.
- 10:28Oh, that thing wouldn't have rolled.
- 10:29Rolled.
- 10:29You in your Subaru?
- 10:30Yeah.
- 10:31Yeah.
- 10:31It's in the Crosstrek.
- 10:32Oh, yeah.
- 10:33It's too low to the ground.
- 10:34Yeah.
- 10:36Did you have a mishap?
- 10:37Uh, we had this one incident where we… I don't know if you'd call this
- 10:42a mishap, but in relation to passenger, just a creepy thing that happened.
- 10:48Was it?
- 10:49No, it was, it wasn't our honeymoon.
- 10:51It was another trip.
- 10:52It was, I think, our honeymoon.
- 10:53No, it wasn't because our- When was these?
- 10:55Or was it our first anniversary?
- 10:57No, it was- When we were going back.
- 10:58No, we were going to Steelville, so it was- That's right … maybe
- 11:00like two or three years in.
- 11:01Two, three years in.
- 11:01Okay.
- 11:02Yeah, yeah.
- 11:02We used to, every year at our anniversary we'd go to a cabin and just chill.
- 11:06Have no schedule.
- 11:07Yeah.
- 11:08That was, It's a, it was a staycation, but staying somewhere else basically.
- 11:11Right.
- 11:11Yeah.
- 11:12Yeah.
- 11:12And from this- Yeah … part of the state that we were coming from, it, the GPS
- 11:16or mapstock, google.com- showed us that Highway 67 going up through Jonesboro
- 11:23was gonna be significantly faster.
- 11:25Okay.
- 11:26And we thought, "Okay. That's what we'll do. We'll go up that way." And so we did.
- 11:31We get up through Jonesboro, and then we get up to, we cross the
- 11:34border go into Missouri, and then I believe not long after that point
- 11:37we're in the Mark Twain Forest.
- 11:40And when we started, the GPS said it was gonna be about six hours.
- 11:45Yeah We get into that forest and there is nothing.
- 11:50Like, it is miles and miles of just road.
- 11:53And I kid you not, there were no wrong turns.
- 11:55We didn't… We've kept following the GPS.
- 11:58Yeah.
- 11:59It kept adding time.
- 12:01It ended up taking about eight hours.
- 12:03We were in a loop.
- 12:03It was terrifying.
- 12:05It was so scary.
- 12:06Does that go through, like, the Appalachia Mountains at all?
- 12:08No.
- 12:09No, that's- Okay … further, um, east.
- 12:11Okay.
- 12:11But those are… There's some stuff over there.
- 12:14There's some stuff.
- 12:14Yeah.
- 12:14Yeah.
- 12:15No, it was just nothingness.
- 12:17And, uh, we had seen a movie, I can't remember what it was called.
- 12:19Maybe Dead End or something like that, where the gist of the movie,
- 12:23spoiler alert I guess, that's what we do here, um, is, like, the people
- 12:28are driving and they're in a car full of people, but you find out at the
- 12:33end that they died at the beginning.
- 12:34And, like, that what you watched was, like, they're just
- 12:36perpetually stuck in this car.
- 12:38Oh, gosh.
- 12:39And I was like, "Mark, it's like that movie." And he was like, "Do not say
- 12:42that." Like, what if we're already dead?
- 12:44Uh, yeah.
- 12:45He was like, "Don't- That's so scary … don't say it." Though.
- 12:47Yeah, it was freaky.
- 12:48So- I like- … I thought we were never gonna get there … no explanation as
- 12:50to, like- No, we still have no clue.
- 12:52Nothing, 'cause normally when that happens and you're traveling and
- 12:54you're using Google Maps, a lot of times it might be, okay, there's a
- 12:57traffic incident up ahead, and that's causing the, the time to stretch out.
- 13:01Yeah.
- 13:02This was, I mean, middle of nowhere, all the way to our destination.
- 13:07Oh, goodness.
- 13:07There was no cities, no, no nothing that would've caused that- At least you didn't-
- 13:11… to happen … like, lose your GPS signal.
- 13:13Has that ever happened to you- That would've been bad … like,
- 13:15where you're- That'd been really bad … like, suspension?
- 13:16I think when that happened, I think I was terrified to touch anything.
- 13:20Mm.
- 13:20'Cause, you know, sometimes if, if you leave it alone and you don't navigate away
- 13:23from anything, like Spotify will do that.
- 13:25It'll keep running if you don't try to, like, pick a different song.
- 13:28When you don't have any service it'll usually, like- Oh,
- 13:30yeah … it will stall out on you.
- 13:31But I was afraid of that happening with the GPS, so I'm like,
- 13:35"Let's just don't touch- Yeah
- 13:37anything." 'Cause if we try to find another route, it might
- 13:40completely, like, go on the fritz.
- 13:42Yeah.
- 13:42So- And then- … it's just, like, do your best and stay on the course and- Was this-
- 13:47… hope you make it … was this daytime?
- 13:49That y'all- No.
- 13:49No, this was the middle of the night.
- 13:51It was the night.
- 13:51That- It was dark … that's even worse.
- 13:52Did you ever see, like, any other c- like, another car?
- 13:55Not really, no.
- 13:56Very few.
- 13:56Oh my gosh, that, no.
- 13:58Okay, 'cause that honestly- Very, very few … honestly, so the podcast, uh,
- 14:01my favorite podcast, And That's Why We Drink, which super sad, like, one of the
- 14:05hosts is leaving at the end of next m- uh- Oh … as, as we record this, next
- 14:08month in October, which is super sad.
- 14:10But anyway, they'll do listener stories at the start of each month, and I cannot
- 14:14tell you how many alien abduction story start out where it's like they're driving
- 14:20and, like, a time loop of some sort happens, and they just, like, lose time.
- 14:26That is crazy.
- 14:28I mean, who knows?
- 14:29Maybe he got, like, abducted by aliens.
- 14:30Maybe.
- 14:31Maybe so.
- 14:31And we don't even get to remember it.
- 14:34I would've been much more interested in alien- Would you want to remember it?
- 14:37If we… I don't know.
- 14:38It depends on what they did.
- 14:38Yeah, I wanna know.
- 14:39Ugh.
- 14:40I- I mean, I could I probably not wanna know … would nerd so hard, yes.
- 14:42I wanna know if they gave me some superpowers or something.
- 14:45Probably.
- 14:45Yeah.
- 14:45I mean, what- You know?
- 14:46… what do they want?
- 14:47I don't know.
- 14:49Well, actually, Spooky I the navigation getting suspended, that happened to
- 14:53me once when I was, as a freshman in college, I drove from Shawnee, Oklahoma,
- 14:59to Dallas, and I had never been to Dallas.
- 15:02And I was meeting up with my boyfriend at the time to go see Imagine Dragons,
- 15:05like, for their first album- Ooh
- 15:06which was really cool.
- 15:08But I'm, like, not a good dri- I mean, like, I'm a safe-ish driver on the road,
- 15:12whatever, but, like, navigation, no.
- 15:15I can't tell you any kind of like- Yeah … I couldn't even tell you,
- 15:18like, which direction is north.
- 15:20And I kept making so many wrong turns 'cause I was getting lost,
- 15:24that my navigation suspended.
- 15:26And I was like, "What do you mean?" Like, I don't even know where… I could've
- 15:30been- Ooh … in, like, Nevada, and I would've- I would've been in trouble.
- 15:34Oh, yeah.
- 15:34Yeah.
- 15:34And my, my sweet mom was like this, "You're going on this trip just
- 15:38you and your boyfriend by yourself.
- 15:39This is a test." And I was like, "I can't, like-
- 15:42I'm gonna feel this way because I don't even know where I
- 15:44am." But eventually I made it.
- 15:46And then there have been a couple times where, like, we have lost our parked car.
- 15:52Have y'all ever done that?
- 15:53Like in a- Lost a parked car?
- 15:54… in a lot?
- 15:55Yeah.
- 15:55Just forgot where you parked?
- 15:56Yeah.
- 15:57Yeah.
- 15:57But, like, bad.
- 15:58Yeah, I mean, well, no.
- 15:59I don't think to a, a situation where- I was wandering around for a long time.
- 16:04Oh my God.
- 16:04So whenever, again, we were in college, um, my boyfriend at the time we did
- 16:09the Color Run in downtown Little Rock.
- 16:11Mm-hmm.
- 16:12And we were running late from, like, Conway, so we like, you know,
- 16:15we're downtown Little Rock and it's, it's just like, it's kinda crazy.
- 16:18Like, there were markets, like insane, and like trying to find
- 16:20parking in, in, in general.
- 16:22We parked, we get out of the car, we run 'cause we're meeting our friends
- 16:25for the race, and then we do the race.
- 16:28We're walking back and we could not find our car.
- 16:30Oh.
- 16:31We liter- and we walked around for hours.
- 16:35Well, yeah, and you don't wanna do that in Little Rock.
- 16:37Exactly.
- 16:38And so, and like our phones were starting to, like, get low on battery, and so
- 16:40it got to a point to where we were desperate that we called the cops and
- 16:44we were like, "Hey, we need help finding our car." So they had to drive around-
- 16:48… until they could find Jeff's car.
- 16:50And so then I got to ride in a cop car- Okay
- 16:53because they gave us a lift to the car.
- 16:56And then Alek and I also did that at an airshow in, um, uh, Jacksonville, and
- 17:02we were in the parking lot and I was in charge of trying to remember, like,
- 17:05where the car was and- … I did not do that well, and so- You had one job.
- 17:10Exactly.
- 17:11So we had to, like, stand in, like, truck beds to try and find our car.
- 17:15So luckily I feel like that's the worst mishap that we've had.
- 17:19That was not, not our worst.
- 17:21I feel like our worst, I was asleep for.
- 17:24But- Yeah, we were, we were… You know, we travel a lot.
- 17:27Yeah.
- 17:28Especially going back home and visiting family.
- 17:30And so one… uh, this just, I mean, we've made this trip hundreds of times
- 17:35and, you never think anything of it.
- 17:38Yeah.
- 17:38And so we almost always stop at the same gas station, everything.
- 17:43Uh, it's kinda almost at the halfway point.
- 17:45So we leave out of there, go back, get back on I-40 heading, heading
- 17:50east, and then I look in the rear view mirror and I see in the distance a
- 17:55car with their emergency flashers on.
- 17:58Okay.
- 17:59And so I'm just kinda watching it, and it's getting closer and closer,
- 18:02and I'm thinking, "Okay, they're driving faster than me, right?"
- 18:06'Cause they're catching up.
- 18:07Okay.
- 18:07And I'm thinking that they're just gonna drive past me.
- 18:10Yeah.
- 18:11They don't.
- 18:12Oh my gosh.
- 18:13They get on my tail.
- 18:16Not, like, right on my tail, but, like, behind me.
- 18:17But they're close.
- 18:19And, you know, and it, it's obvious 'cause I mean, they're, they're there,
- 18:22they've got their emergency flashers on.
- 18:23Yeah.
- 18:24Almost like a, "Hey, look at me." Like, "I'm here." Exactly.
- 18:28Yeah.
- 18:28And so keep driving, and I'm just watching them.
- 18:33Like, why are they not passing me?
- 18:34Yeah.
- 18:35And then so I switch to another lane.
- 18:38Uh-huh.
- 18:38They switch to another lane.
- 18:39Oh, no.
- 18:40I switch back, they switch back.
- 18:43And then up in the distance, and this is a knot, but I can see what, I can
- 18:47start to see a outline of a car up ahead.
- 18:49And it was a state trooper.
- 18:50Okay.
- 18:52And we get closer and closer.
- 18:53They start backing off.
- 18:55Of course, yeah.
- 18:56And so we get past them, and then here they come again.
- 18:59Oh my gosh.
- 19:00And so at this point I'm just sitting there… I mean, this is,
- 19:03it's like 120 mile stretch I think.
- 19:05Yeah.
- 19:06And they followed us the entire way.
- 19:11And then finally… And I mean, I'm at, at this point I'm convinced.
- 19:14I'm like, "Okay, these…" But I'm like, "What do you do?" I
- 19:16mean, I… Do you call the cops?
- 19:18Do you- Yes.
- 19:19Yeah.
- 19:19If I had been awake, I would've called the cops.
- 19:22You say, "This is happening," and they come and intercept them.
- 19:26Uh-huh.
- 19:27Well, the, the- In the, in the act.
- 19:29Well, the final- That's like the easiest way, and I've like, I
- 19:31woke up and it was already over.
- 19:34And- I would've been like, "You didn't call the police? Are you kidding
- 19:37me?" Well, I got away from them, so How did you get away from them?
- 19:40All right.
- 19:40So, and this, this right here was like, at this point, when you get to, uh,
- 19:47Little Rock and you're, you're on, on, you're on 40, you can either keep going
- 19:51straight or you can go onto, uh, 430.
- 19:54And we always go onto 430, 'cause that's the way to get home.
- 19:58And so- Is that like through Benton?
- 20:01Yes, you do go through Benton.
- 20:02Well, I mean, yeah, you end up- Like after you take the Little Rock exit,
- 20:04you do go through Benton to get down.
- 20:05Yeah, I mean, you, but you can technically stay on 40 and then get
- 20:08right onto I-30 and then come down- Yeah
- 20:10through Benton.
- 20:11But this is like a, a shortcut, kinda.
- 20:13Is that the one that goes by like Baptist?
- 20:17Maybe.
- 20:18I'm not 100% It doesn't matter.
- 20:19I just- Yeah … but anyway.
- 20:20But, yeah.
- 20:20But anyway it's, um, it's a four-way high interstate, and, you
- 20:26know, two lanes go this way, two lane, two lanes go the other way.
- 20:29I pull into the two lanes that are going, you know, are going to keep going
- 20:34to, you know, to I-30 instead of 430.
- 20:36Okay.
- 20:38They do the same.
- 20:39At the very last moment- Oh, you switch?
- 20:43… I cut my, cut the wheel over, get onto the off ramp going to 430.
- 20:48They did the same thing.
- 20:50Oh my God.
- 20:50And that's when- At that point- … it's like zero question.
- 20:53911. At that point I gunned it, and I was like, "I don't care if
- 20:57I get pulled over." And I just, I ended up losing 'em Oh my gosh.
- 21:04There is no telling- Yeah … what they wanted.
- 21:07Yes.
- 21:07Did they have their hazards on the whole time?
- 21:09The whole time.
- 21:11That, okay, first of all, that person is psychotic to listen to that.
- 21:14Yeah.
- 21:15You said for 120 miles?
- 21:17It may be less than 120.
- 21:18So for like- It's, it's whatever, Ozark to- I mean, it's a couple hours
- 21:21oh, out of Ozark to, isn't that in Madison County?
- 21:24From, from, from Ozark to, uh, Little Rock, that stretch of I-40.
- 21:29And that's like a miserable, boring stretch, too.
- 21:31Yeah.
- 21:32And I mean, I have, like ever since that incident, and I, I don't
- 21:35even remember what year that was.
- 21:37A couple years ago.
- 21:37Every now and then I, I'll think about it, and I'll go on the inter- I'll
- 21:40go on the internet, and I'll start looking like someone being followed
- 21:42with their hazards flashing or whatever.
- 21:44Oh my goodness.
- 21:45I've yet to see anybody report a story- You know what- … like that,
- 21:48so … it would've been reported?
- 21:50If you had called the cops.
- 21:51Called the police.
- 21:52I w- look, looking back, I wish I would have.
- 21:54I really do.
- 21:54When did you wake up?
- 21:55About the time we were taking the exit to go to my sister's house,
- 21:59which is like right off the highway.
- 22:00And so I was also kinda hacked off, 'cause I'm like, "How do you know
- 22:04for 100% that you lost them?" Yeah.
- 22:07And so we're now going to my family's house- Right … where
- 22:11all of my people are.
- 22:13What if they find us?
- 22:15What if they wanted us specifically for some reason?
- 22:17I don't know what.
- 22:18They probably just wanted somebody to pull over, and y- we were
- 22:22just the car that they chose.
- 22:23But like- Yeah … that person obviously did not want something good.
- 22:28Yeah.
- 22:29And so- I was- … I was upset that we were that close to home, and I was
- 22:33like, "You're kidding me." Like- Yeah.
- 22:36Oh my goodness, that is so scary … well, I went, I went and stood out in the
- 22:37driveway for a long time when we got home.
- 22:39What were you gonna do?
- 22:41Shoot him?
- 22:43Did you even have a gun at that point?
- 22:44I did not, no.
- 22:44So he wasn't carrying.
- 22:45Now he carries- So what were you gonna do?
- 22:46… all the time.
- 22:47Well, I mean, I would've gone back in and… I mean, we were, you know, we
- 22:51were at a house that had a gun, so.
- 22:52Oh, okay.
- 22:53But I went out there just to s- I just stood and watched.
- 22:56And then if, if someone come pulling up, I'd be like, "All right." It's go time.
- 22:59It's go time.
- 23:00Oh, my goodness.
- 23:01But, yeah.
- 23:02Okay last thing.
- 23:03So that just… Did you like… And you think they followed
- 23:06you from that gas station?
- 23:09I don't… That's the thing.
- 23:10Like, sometimes I wonder if, if that's maybe- Where they-
- 23:13where they w- just for whatever reason- Yeah … decided.
- 23:16But, and- But then I don't know, 'cause they just came out of nowhere-
- 23:20Yeah … after we'd already gotten on the interstate, and they just…
- 23:23And it was, like, just the two of you guys for on the interstate basically?
- 23:25Mm-hmm.
- 23:25'Cause of that… Do you guy- y'all like to drive, like, late at night?
- 23:29We- Like, when you go on trips … I don't know that I'd say we like to.
- 23:31Well, when we go home to visit family, we just usually end up
- 23:35leaving this area- Like, after work or whatever … later than we planned to.
- 23:38Yeah.
- 23:39So we don't get there until sometimes 1:00 in the morning.
- 23:42Oh, dear.
- 23:43But so it was probably, I don't know, it might've been 9:00,
- 23:4710:00 when we were in Ozark.
- 23:48Who knows?
- 23:48But yes, when we go on long trips where we're going, like, driving
- 23:52to the beach or driving, like, 12, 14 hours, we'll start at, like,
- 23:57midnight- Yeah … and drive through.
- 24:01Yeah.
- 24:01And take shifts, but… Oh, my gosh.
- 24:03So last thing and then, and then we'll get into it, 'cause this has
- 24:07been, like, the longest intro ever.
- 24:08Um, when we were in college in Conway, which, like, isn't
- 24:12necessarily, like, dangerous, but, like, some sketchiness to it, right?
- 24:16My friend Megan and I, we were driving at night, going to our friend's house, and
- 24:19we passed a, a car with their headlights off, and it was, like, nighttime.
- 24:23Ooh.
- 24:23And so Meg flashed her lights- No
- 24:25at her.
- 24:25And I said- No.
- 24:27No.
- 24:27I was like, "Megan, do not… Like, never do that again, ever." And she had no idea
- 24:33that, like, that's a thing that people do.
- 24:34Oh, she'd never heard that?
- 24:35She had never heard that.
- 24:36And so like- Interesting … and so I was like, I told her, and she was like, you
- 24:40know, she's like, "It's probably fine."
- 24:42So we went to our friend's house, and, um, we were telling them, like,
- 24:46what had happened, and they were like, "Megan, like, that was so dumb.
- 24:49I can't believe you did that." And so then we left and went home, but
- 24:52then I guess, like, an hour or so later, they had a knock at their door.
- 24:56And they were like- … "Oh, my God."
- 24:59Like- Yeah … it's, it's whoever it was.
- 25:00And it was, um, it was somebody, like, trying to deliver pizza,
- 25:04so it ended up being fine.
- 25:05But, like, they had the wrong address.
- 25:07That's so scary though.
- 25:08But yeah, I, well, 'cause, like, she, she, like, did… I could, like,
- 25:11see her, like, process and, like, before I could even say, like, "Do
- 25:15not," she flashed her lights at them.
- 25:17Oh.
- 25:17And I, I seriously, I fin- I was so freaked out when she did that.
- 25:22I don't know if I ever had… If I already knew that-
- 25:27story before the movie Urban Legend came out, but they did use that.
- 25:32Have you ever seen that movie?
- 25:33No.
- 25:34Oh, it's good.
- 25:34It's like a 2000s, like late '90s, early 2000s slasher type movie where the killer
- 25:42is using all of these urban legends- Oh
- 25:45to terrorize, like, a college campus.
- 25:47Ooh.
- 25:48Yeah.
- 25:48It's good.
- 25:49We should watch it.
- 25:49Okay.
- 25:49But they that's kinda one of those that is a- Let me see
- 25:53if it's on Amazon really quick
- 25:57Maybe we can add it
- 26:00So fun fact Okay 'cause I was, I was just sitting here thinking, you know what?
- 26:04I wonder
- 26:07It appears that that is an urban legend.
- 26:10That is gang initiation?
- 26:11Yeah.
- 26:12That is, that's not really true.
- 26:13But just, you know- I mean, I'm not gonna do it … I'm still not gonna do it.
- 26:17Yeah.
- 26:18Even- Right … me never reading that, "Oh, yeah, that's probably
- 26:21not true," uh, yeah, I'm still not gonna flash my lights at somebody
- 26:24that has never ha- headlights on.
- 26:26Yeah.
- 26:27Yeah.
- 26:27Well, especially now that, like, the idea is out there that
- 26:29that's, like, a thing to do.
- 26:30Right.
- 26:31Right.
- 26:31Yeah, just I don't e- even, like, wanna give people an idea, so yeah.
- 26:37Okay.
- 26:37Well, thank you for that.
- 26:38Some really, some not funny, but spooky stuff.
- 26:41Oof, I don't like that at all.
- 26:43Yeah, that might not have been what you were th- thinking
- 26:45you were- No, but that's okay
- 26:45gonna get when you asked that question.
- 26:47That, I mean, typically the goal is to try to get some sort of funny story out.
- 26:51But you know, I'm open to- Yeah … the real-life scary stuff, too.
- 26:56It happened.
- 26:57So since we had kind of a Passenger-like experience what did
- 27:02you guys think about the movie?
- 27:04What are your…
- 27:05I think the, the two guys at the beginning, like I had forgotten that
- 27:08basically all of that before the title card was pretty much the trailer.
- 27:13Yeah.
- 27:14And I had kind of, that had slipped my mind.
- 27:16I was like, okay, I remember that these two guys were in the car, or this one
- 27:19guy was driving, and then like there was the jump scare that totally got me.
- 27:22Yeah.
- 27:23But I don't know, like I feel like I could relate to those guys 'cause
- 27:28obviously- I did think of you … like- I
- 27:32did.
- 27:32'Cause like that would happen to me all the time is I was like, "I have to
- 27:35drink so much water," and he's like, "Have you gone to the doctor?" Yeah.
- 27:39And I'm like, "Brother, you need to go get your antibodies checked
- 27:42because something ain't right."
- 27:44I know.
- 27:45I know, but you used to be so afraid of the doctor, right?
- 27:48Well, yeah, I don't have a choice now.
- 27:49Yeah, yeah.
- 27:51Yeah.
- 27:51No, I definitely was like, wow, this guy… I was like, this is Beth.
- 27:55Um- Yeah, for sure … I also thought about you whenever… 'Cause like
- 27:59isn't he, at first he's asleep, the passenger- … friend is asleep.
- 28:03Yeah.
- 28:03And so the driver screams to wake him up- Uh-huh … and it made
- 28:06me think about whenever you woke Mark up that way by screaming.
- 28:10Uh-huh.
- 28:10And my dad used to do that to my mom all the time, like when we were on,
- 28:13if we were- … traveling somewhere.
- 28:15Your dad was a mischievous guy.
- 28:16And he… Yeah, he was.
- 28:17So like he'd be driving, and she'd either be asleep or just peacefully not-
- 28:22just listen to whatever music we had on.
- 28:25And he would find a time where he could just like scream, or he would like
- 28:31hit the brakes and go, "Hey," if there was like a field over to the side.
- 28:35And she's like, "Oh my gosh," and she'd startle.
- 28:37And he's like, "What?
- 28:37There's hay over there." Oh my- And she was like, "I'm so mad at you."
- 28:42Yes.
- 28:42But he would just crack up laughing.
- 28:44I bet.
- 28:44And he did the thing one time I remember where, you know if, um, like a, a truck,
- 28:51like a big truck is hauling another big truck, but they're hauling it where
- 28:54the cab is facing- Oh, yeah … you.
- 28:57Hate that.
- 28:57He got up behind it and definitely did, like make her think that we were…
- 29:01'Cause she was asleep, and he was like, oh.
- 29:03He never passed up an opportunity- Oh, wow … to just- Your poor mom
- 29:07was just trying to do her best.
- 29:09Oh, yeah.
- 29:10No, she was just living her life peacefully and like- No
- 29:14peace … no, none at all.
- 29:15Wow.
- 29:15So, so yes, that was very relatable at the beginning- Yes … and then I was
- 29:18like, oh my gosh, I hope, I hope not.
- 29:20Also
- 29:23I don't know if I'm jealous of guys.
- 29:25Like, 'cause he just, it was like, "I gotta pee." Oh, right.
- 29:28And they just pull over.
- 29:29I know.
- 29:29And I can't imagine that.
- 29:30I could never.
- 29:31I mean, like, I know we can.
- 29:33Yeah.
- 29:34We can just go in the woods.
- 29:35I just w- I can't.
- 29:36Have you ever been in that desperate of a situation where you've like- No
- 29:39you've had no… Oh.
- 29:41No.
- 29:41Really?
- 29:42Not even to pee?
- 29:43No, but I would have that time if you hadn't have been able to find somewhere.
- 29:47When we were on our way to, like, Kansas City.
- 29:49I was about that close.
- 29:50Yeah.
- 29:51That mark, I just… Like, Beth goes, "Hey, we're gonna need to
- 29:55stop soon." And we're, like, in, like- Nowhere … Nowhere, Missouri.
- 29:59And I said, "Okay," like, "Okay," like, "We'll, we'll find somewhere."
- 30:02And then she starts leaning forward.
- 30:04And it's like, oh it's that bad.
- 30:06I was trying to be a strong girl.
- 30:08And then she starts rocking, and I'm like, "Okay, yeah, we- You know what,
- 30:10you know what she's really good at?
- 30:12Because this is, th- this guy also did that, where he's
- 30:14like, "No, I don't have to go."
- 30:16She's really good- It happens fast, okay?
- 30:18When you're in that situation, it just… She's really good at saying,
- 30:23"Oh, hey, I need to go to the bathroom," I mean right after we pass the exit.
- 30:30Oh.
- 30:30Okay, but to be fair, that doesn't really happen so much anymore.
- 30:34No, but- I had a medical condition, okay?
- 30:37Yeah, I mean, technically, I- I mean, I technically, I still have
- 30:38the condition, but, like, it was an untreated medical condition.
- 30:43I couldn't help it.
- 30:44Oh.
- 30:44'Cause like it's, that's the thing with… I understand this man, 'cause
- 30:47I'm sure at the time he didn't have to.
- 30:49But when you're in that s- pr- that particular situation you don't
- 30:54have to go, and then you just do.
- 30:56I will say there will be experiences in your life where it will
- 31:00be to a whole new level- Yeah
- 31:01for you, and yeah, there's just nothing you can do about it.
- 31:05Yeah.
- 31:06But like you've… So have you ever gone to the bathroom outside?
- 31:10I listen, I am a city girl.
- 31:12I know I sound like cornbread From Malvern?
- 31:15Yeah, girl.
- 31:16Yeah, girl.
- 31:17Okay.
- 31:18I don't do the country.
- 31:19Okay.
- 31:19I'm Southern, I am not country.
- 31:21Those are two different things.
- 31:22Teaches.
- 31:24And I cannot, like I'm, like I, nobody would- It's a phobia?
- 31:28Uh, I just don't do- Not a phobia, but just a mental block?
- 31:30… the nature stuff.
- 31:32Like I like to look at it, I don't wanna be in it.
- 31:34There's- Okay … there are bugs and critters and all of
- 31:36that, and modern amenities.
- 31:39I must have running water.
- 31:41Oh.
- 31:41I must have toilet paper.
- 31:43I can't do camping.
- 31:44I won't.
- 31:45Oh, do you wanna… Do you like to camp?
- 31:48N- no.
- 31:49I mean, I've done it.
- 31:50Oh.
- 31:50I've done it.
- 31:50So you guys are perfect for each other.
- 31:51Yeah.
- 31:52Yeah, yeah.
- 31:52I've done it before, but- No a cabin out in the middle of nowhere?
- 31:54Dream.
- 31:55Yeah, it's your dream.
- 31:55With running water.
- 31:56Yeah.
- 31:56Yes.
- 31:57And I can enjoy the outdoors- Yes
- 32:00from the indoors with air conditioning.
- 32:02Oh, okay.
- 32:03So you're like- Central heat and air.
- 32:04Okay.
- 32:05I'm about that life.
- 32:06Or I mean, we- Okay, great.
- 32:06Yeah … that's why we usually take, you know, we'll go in like November-
- 32:09Yeah … to, to a cabin because then you can sit out on the deck.
- 32:13It's not, stupid hot out.
- 32:15Yeah.
- 32:15You can enjoy- Yeah … the, nature and all that stuff from
- 32:19the comfort of a, of a deck.
- 32:21Okay.
- 32:21Yeah.
- 32:21Good to know.
- 32:22So no, I don't rock with that.
- 32:25Oh, okay.
- 32:26That country life, that's not for me.
- 32:28Okay, I will say I am also not a country girl.
- 32:31But if I'm desperate enough, yeah, I'm gonna go pee outside.
- 32:35I mean, I could probably get desperate enough at some point.
- 32:38I ju- There are a lot of logistics concerns like that I have.
- 32:41It's like what if?
- 32:42Okay, 'cause also- … sometimes you'd think it's just a number one.
- 32:48That's true.
- 32:48And I've- And it's not … and I've done that too.
- 32:51And in that situation, like I can get it if you're like, okay, you just
- 32:56got like a dude, you drip a drop.
- 32:58It is what it is.
- 32:59Yeah.
- 33:01That's kinda gross to me, but it is what it is.
- 33:06But if the, if it's more intensive than that- Yeah … and you, what do you have?
- 33:12A sock?
- 33:13It's not, I tell you what it's not gonna be is leaves.
- 33:16I couldn't do that, which is just scoop.
- 33:19It's just… I don't, I can't.
- 33:22How does it always come to this?
- 33:22I can't even imagine.
- 33:24Yeah, it does always come to leaves.
- 33:25I will say I've done that- All roads lead back to poop, I guess.
- 33:27I don't know.
- 33:27Is it hard or soft?
- 33:29See?
- 33:29I'll tell you what.
- 33:30And you can't really predict that either.
- 33:31I'm gonna tell you what.
- 33:32I have a story.
- 33:33And it's not very long, but when I was in high school there's a, um, and it's
- 33:38very fitting because in Springdale, like kinda where we live, like the sewer plant
- 33:42is like, like really close to like some of the nicest neighborhoods, whatever.
- 33:46Oh.
- 33:47I know, it's crazy.
- 33:48And so like me, Bridget, Jeff, that is, this was like high school Jeff era.
- 33:52We were playing out, playing, we were in high school.
- 33:55We're like walking through the creek or whatever and the urge hit me, and
- 33:58I was like, "I'm not gonna make it." And so yeah, I went behind a bush.
- 34:02Probably one of the best- Yeah?
- 34:05movements I've ever had in my life.
- 34:06Like satisfying?
- 34:07Yeah, and I think it's because of the squatting.
- 34:10S- there is something to the- Yeah … the position, yeah.
- 34:14Yep.
- 34:15Uh, but I obviously, I, I mean, I can't tell you what I used to- Yeah … wipe.
- 34:20I just- I know that I did, I just don't remember what it was.
- 34:23Probably a- Yeah
- 34:24probably a leaf.
- 34:25Could you imagine it was like a poison ivy leaf?
- 34:28I mean, that- Is that your fear?
- 34:29… that's a fear.
- 34:30Yeah.
- 34:30That's a fear, for sure, 'cause I don't know the plants of the world-
- 34:33Like, yeah, I know … enough to know.
- 34:35For sure.
- 34:35I mean, I think I could recognize poison ivy, however, I would
- 34:40be so- That's impressive
- 34:41desperate in that point, like I'm in this, I'm in a compromised
- 34:46situation, exposed to the world.
- 34:48Yeah.
- 34:50And I would wanna be, like, I'd probably not be thinking clearly
- 34:54and just grab whatever's there.
- 34:55And then it's too late, and you gotta go to the doctor for that.
- 34:57How embarrassing.
- 34:58Oh, you're so right.
- 35:00Yeah.
- 35:00You would be the laughing stock of- Yeah … they would, like, for the rest of their
- 35:04lives, like, when people are like, "What's one of the craziest things you've seen?"
- 35:07That would be, you would be their story.
- 35:08Booty poison ivy, for sure.
- 35:10Booty poison ivy.
- 35:11Oh my gosh, the itching.
- 35:12Ah.
- 35:13Oh, I can't imagine.
- 35:14Okay, I also, M- maybe Mark, you can answer this to me, whenever this guy
- 35:19gets out of the car, he, like, runs, like, half a mile- Okay … down
- 35:23this hill to pee, and I'm thinking- Mm … like, men's urinals, like, you
- 35:28can look over this divider and just be like, "Eh." You can see the… So why
- 35:32did this man have to run halfway down the hill to, like, keep himself covered?
- 35:36So I wrote that down u- under dumb decisions.
- 35:38Okay.
- 35:39Because I do not understand why he decided to go on a nature hike to go pee.
- 35:44Exactly.
- 35:44It's a deserted highway.
- 35:46Like, open the door f- for some privacy, the car door, like maybe
- 35:49the rear car door or something.
- 35:50Yeah.
- 35:51Stand behind that.
- 35:52Because- And then go.
- 35:53Like, don't…
- 35:54W- well, I don't know why you would ever do that.
- 35:56I don't know why you'd run down a hill, go into the, to the trees.
- 36:00Right.
- 36:00Like, I don't… No, you just go right there by the car.
- 36:02'Cause he literally, 'cause it's not even like you have to, like, pull
- 36:04your pants, like, all the way down.
- 36:05Right.
- 36:05Right.
- 36:05You're blessed- Yeah
- 36:06in that way.
- 36:07Exactly.
- 36:07I g- no.
- 36:08You have it so easy.
- 36:09I'm 100%, 100%- So easy … I agree with that.
- 36:13I saw that.
- 36:13Immediately I was like, "What are you doing?" Yeah.
- 36:16Yeah.
- 36:17So yeah, I don't know why.
- 36:18I know why they did it, it was just one of those things where- I know … set
- 36:21it up so that, like, they could get the other guy out or whatever.
- 36:23But at- Yeah … at the same time it's, like, that's one of those
- 36:26things where I, yes, I like this movie, I thought it was great.
- 36:29Yes, agree.
- 36:29Yeah.
- 36:29But this is one of those times when I see something and I'm like, "You did that
- 36:32just to move a plot point, but it is, doesn't make any sense at all." Correct.
- 36:36Well, but I don't think he really had to, 'cause I mean, he, he
- 36:39could've just gone out of sight.
- 36:41I could've- understood going to where it's like if a car drives
- 36:46by, you don't necessarily want them to see you just right there.
- 36:51I could see you maybe going a couple of trees in, but he did go pretty deep.
- 36:54No, yeah.
- 36:54But then the, the thing moves so fast.
- 36:58Yeah.
- 36:59I don't think it was necessary for him to, to have to go that far.
- 37:04He like- You know?
- 37:04He was also, like, way too calm when he got back and the scene was what it was.
- 37:08Oh, yeah.
- 37:09All the doors open, lights on, the car's- Honking continuously … yeah.
- 37:14Which also doesn't make sense.
- 37:16Yeah.
- 37:16I don't know.
- 37:18I mean, it just, but it added a lot.
- 37:20I mean, it made it really scary.
- 37:22It would've been less scary, or would it, if the car was just silent?
- 37:26Well, I think, like, I don't know, 'cause you know something is wrong.
- 37:32And it's clear that there's something out there with him, which obviously it
- 37:35would know where he is because it, it was obviously at the car at some point.
- 37:41But, like, you know when you're out in the, when you're trying to…
- 37:46You feel like you're in a vulnerab- vul- vulnerable position, and then
- 37:49there's basically this big siren of, like, "I'm right here"- Oh, yeah
- 37:53kind of thing.
- 37:54Uh-huh.
- 37:54Like, I felt, I was like, dude, get the car horn to stop.
- 37:57Yeah.
- 37:57I don't know that that, not that that would've really helped, but
- 38:00I felt like if it were me in that position, I would want silence
- 38:04around me, so also if you could hear something that's coming up around you.
- 38:07Mm. Yeah.
- 38:09I, it's, I don't know.
- 38:10It's just one of, one of those things where I don't under- 'cause, the car
- 38:12horn, it- Well, yeah, but this thing is- you activate it with your hand, and- But
- 38:18it's supernatural, so it can do- It is.
- 38:19Oh, yeah.
- 38:19I, I guess it could have done that, but- Yeah … I think it would've
- 38:22been scarier to hear if, you know, you're, he's down there peeing- Yeah
- 38:25and then hears a few car hon- honks, and maybe, like, a really
- 38:28long one or something just to give the idea of something's wrong.
- 38:31I need to get back up there.
- 38:33Then you get up there, total silence, and all the car- I mean- … doors
- 38:36opening and all that stuff.
- 38:37Yeah.
- 38:37Maybe that's your signal as a viewer of, like, though,
- 38:39that this is more than human.
- 38:41Maybe.
- 38:42So he didn't just get nabbed, 'cause something else that's, uh, more
- 38:47weird than that is, has happened.
- 38:50Yeah.
- 38:51I don't know.
- 38:52But I wonder, like, 'cause I guess, did he, he just got, like, yanked
- 38:55out of the car but then was, like, up in the trees and then got smashed
- 39:00down- Yes … got pulled back up, and then just dumped behind the car.
- 39:06Yes.
- 39:07And I, I don't know.
- 39:09Like-
- 39:11Do you go back for… Like, that was a- I wouldn't … that was
- 39:15one thing I was thinking of.
- 39:15I don't think I would have.
- 39:17I, I don't know.
- 39:19I'd be so torn, 'cause, like, we're the only you're the only person I would
- 39:21be traveling with like that really.
- 39:25And so I'm like, I don't know that I could just leave.
- 39:27I don't know.
- 39:28I was so, like, this- I feel like this movie was the first movie
- 39:31that we, like, watched where I was, like, actually scared watching it.
- 39:35Yeah.
- 39:36So yeah, I, I think I would've… Well, I guess, I guess it does
- 39:39depend on who I was traveling with.
- 39:42Oh, yeah.
- 39:42'Cause yeah, I don't think I could just leave Alek.
- 39:44Oh, I would, I would go back for you.
- 39:46Aw.
- 39:47That's really sweet.
- 39:49I'd be ready to fight whatever it is.
- 39:50Yeah.
- 39:51Well- I'd be mad.
- 39:52I'd be real mad.
- 39:52Bet a lot of good that would do you.
- 39:53I would be mad.
- 39:54No, well, yeah, it wouldn't have done me any good.
- 39:54I would- I know I would have ended up with the same fate, but- Yeah.
- 39:57Yeah
- 39:57I, I would've been really mad, and I would've tried something.
- 39:59You would've died fighting.
- 40:00Yeah.
- 40:01Yeah.
- 40:01Yeah.
- 40:02I hated like, yeah, just like all of the, the trees, like the branches snapping.
- 40:07And then that, the jump scare where he, like comes through
- 40:10the windshield, that got me.
- 40:13Where the guy got dropped through the windshield?
- 40:14Yeah, yeah.
- 40:16What was, like your big jump scare, when he's, like driving?
- 40:20He's driving, and then it's in- Yeah … the car with him?
- 40:22Yeah.
- 40:22Which Mark was like, "That was in the trailer." I'm like, "Yeah, I
- 40:24know, but I had forgotten that it was in the trailer." But, like that
- 40:27whole sequence is like so intense.
- 40:30Mm-hmm.
- 40:30And like him, like continuous, like him driving and then it's
- 40:33like he's, like in a loop- Yeah
- 40:35of like the, the guy is just standing there.
- 40:38That was really creepy.
- 40:40Yeah.
- 40:40And for a while I thought it was, like two different people, like the man standing
- 40:44out and then, like him being in the car.
- 40:46I thought, like that was like a woman.
- 40:48Um, it took me a minute.
- 40:49But yeah, m- such a strong beginning, honestly.
- 40:52Yeah.
- 40:53I mean, it did not waste any… It was just high anxiety from the beginning.
- 40:59Yeah, yeah.
- 41:00I am glad that you guys liked this movie, 'cause I, I really liked it too.
- 41:04Yeah.
- 41:05Okay, so then it, And I thought the way they tied the two together, like
- 41:09this, like these two poor gentlemen, and then, uh, Maddie and Tyler, I
- 41:14thought that tied together so well.
- 41:16Yes.
- 41:16I was really impressed with that.
- 41:18'Cause it starts o- like, that happens, and you're like, "What the heck, like
- 41:22just happened?" And then, uh, Maddie is, like packing up their really cute
- 41:27apartment and like, they're, you know, obviously like a couple going out
- 41:32on, like this new van life adventure.
- 41:34There's like some mishaps, what he proposes, and she's, like kind of- Yeah
- 41:39on the fence about it.
- 41:40It w- yeah, it was strange.
- 41:41I mean, she said yes, and but they got interrupted by the guy.
- 41:45Oh.
- 41:45The neighborhood watch guy.
- 41:46Yeah, neighborhood watch.
- 41:46That also scared me.
- 41:47Um, yeah.
- 41:48The knocking.
- 41:48There were a lot of jump scares in this.
- 41:49There were.
- 41:50And I was thinking about how I don't think that a movie has gotten me with this many
- 41:55jump scares in a very, very long time.
- 41:57Yeah.
- 41:57And like, Obsession was scary in a way that was just anxiety
- 42:03and dread the whole time.
- 42:05Yeah.
- 42:05But this was a different kind of scary.
- 42:07Like, this was actually just like, ugh, jump, jumpy scary, which that didn't
- 42:11have, so it was a… I thought both of them were very good- Yeah … newer
- 42:14scary movies in different ways.
- 42:16Yeah.
- 42:16But yes, and then like, so she's driving down the road, looking at the,
- 42:23the ring, and I'm like, "Ma'am, you're driving a whole-" Oh … land yacht.
- 42:26Please pay attention.
- 42:27Yes.
- 42:29And then kind of like got on her you know, almost got in a wreck
- 42:33or whatever, and then you realized that it was… Was his name Lucas?
- 42:39The guy at the beginning?
- 42:41I think- … that drove past her.
- 42:42But at that point- I think it- … he had already… Well- So at that point,
- 42:49when she's driving and looking at the ring, it is just the one dude.
- 42:55Yes.
- 42:55She doesn't know, she didn't see the thing until later.
- 42:58Correct.
- 42:58Yes.
- 42:59But I'm trying to think, like in the timeline, it had already
- 43:03jumped into the car with him.
- 43:05Yeah.
- 43:05And then it was like-
- 43:11So I guess they must have already been ahead of him of the two of those
- 43:14guys, 'cause he was flying in the car.
- 43:18So- Yeah … it popped into the car, and then I guess he was
- 43:22gassing it, driving away maybe?
- 43:25'Cause it looks like he was, like- Yeah … trying to, like, fight it off, I guess.
- 43:28Yeah.
- 43:30So but that's interesting, because I guess if…
- 43:33Well, but if they were ahead of the two guys, then, like- Mm-hmm … they
- 43:36would've, they wouldn't have seen, like, the initial- … like, scene with,
- 43:39like, his friend in the road and- Yeah, and he had s- he had gassed it because
- 43:44he was nervous while it was- Yeah, like, on the side of the road … so
- 43:48I guess maybe they were already ahead, and he happened to catch up with them.
- 43:51Yeah.
- 43:52So I mean, it must have been like, they weren't very far though- Uh-huh … truly.
- 43:56Yeah.
- 43:56That's interesting because yeah, they must have, like, not been very far.
- 44:02Because I mean, truly though, like, that whole, like, sequence of, like,
- 44:05him going to the bathroom- It's a couple minutes … was, like, maybe,
- 44:09like, yeah, two or three minutes.
- 44:10We did kind of skim over the reason that they were on that road is
- 44:15because they're, like, at the beach, and then she's "There's this really
- 44:18good barbecue place." Oh, yeah.
- 44:20And I'm thinking, barbecue's never worth it.
- 44:22No.
- 44:22I'm gonna tell you right now.
- 44:23It's not.
- 44:23Barbecue's never worth it.
- 44:24And then what was it?
- 44:25Like, they missed their reservation at, like- Yep … a glacier or,
- 44:29like, wherever they were going.
- 44:30No, it was a hot springs.
- 44:31Oh, yeah, 'cause that's where he was gonna propose.
- 44:33Yeah, much more romantic.
- 44:35And then they get, like, on the detour.
- 44:38Oh, that's right.
- 44:38So then they found the neighborhood to stop in.
- 44:42Oh, and then they get kicked out.
- 44:43Yes, 'cause he, that was when he realized he had to change his plan- Yes … 'cause
- 44:48he couldn't propose where he wanted to.
- 44:50Yes.
- 44:50Yeah.
- 44:50That's right.
- 44:50And so I had, like, made a thought.
- 44:52I was like an advertisement's gonna come up for an even better hot springs-
- 44:56Yeah … that takes them to the road.
- 44:57And then it's a hotel, and I was like, darn, it's a hotel.
- 45:00Yeah.
- 45:01'Cause they were wanting the hotel.
- 45:02But I'm, like, thinking, like, what city are you in?
- 45:06Like, this hotel's, like, a whole trek away.
- 45:09Like, I'm s- and it- Yeah, I don't know … but it's, it's for the plot.
- 45:11But I was trying to channel my inner Beth and Mark with these critical questions.
- 45:17Like- Well, that, that did bug me when they were like, "Okay.
- 45:20Well, yeah, there's a hotel that's not very far from here." And then
- 45:22they're, like, on this highway in the middle of nowhere- This is where
- 45:26they are … all of a sudden trying to get- Uh-huh … to this hotel.
- 45:27I'm like, you just said it was close.
- 45:30Yeah.
- 45:30Well, I mean- And now you're… I- F- 30, 45 minutes I would call
- 45:36close, and you could get into some-
- 45:41Some woodsy places through that, I would think That's true
- 45:45'Cause you're looking- Yeah
- 45:46for, at that point, the fastest route, and sometimes that takes you
- 45:48through some sketchy places Yeah I don't know, but- it did throw me
- 45:53off, though, whenever they said that.
- 45:54And- Yeah … I was like, "Wait, I, I thought she said it was like
- 45:58close by or something." Yeah, and he said- They made it sound so close.
- 46:01They did.
- 46:01And like- Yeah … close for me would be like less than like 20 minutes, I think.
- 46:06Yeah, yeah.
- 46:07Hmm.
- 46:07But, but yeah, I had like an all caps, like, "Girl, get that ring in a second."
- 46:11Yeah, for real, like this is not the time to contemplate- Not the time … whether
- 46:14or not you made the right decision.
- 46:15Yes.
- 46:16And then I said Sharon would've come out, like when that
- 46:20car was trying to pass them.
- 46:21Mm-hmm.
- 46:21'Cause if it's like hitting like the side of their car, oh, I would've
- 46:25been- Yep … I would've been pissed.
- 46:27I would not have stopped if I had seen that accident, I don't think.
- 46:31I probably wouldn't have, but- I don't know.
- 46:32I would be hesitant to 'cause it's the middle of the night.
- 46:36There's nobody around.
- 46:38But then that's also why I think maybe I would have stopped, 'cause
- 46:42who else is gonna help them?
- 46:44Yeah, you're a good person.
- 46:45But also,
- 46:48I would've gotten in the van.
- 46:50I would've gotten back in the van a lot faster than she did.
- 46:52Oh, yeah, she took her time.
- 46:53But at that point, I don't think it matters.
- 46:55I don't know what the heck was going- No, it was too late.
- 46:56Yeah.
- 46:56But still, and then she like, you saw something over there.
- 47:00Like, she saw the figure, and she was like, "I thought I saw something." Yeah.
- 47:03And he shined the light.
- 47:04And then she just gets ba- this is, it goes back to urban legend again.
- 47:07If I'm getting in the car, even in the broad daylight,
- 47:10I'm looking in the backseat.
- 47:11And now you thought you saw something- … and you're just gonna
- 47:15get back in the van, where there's a ton of space behind you- Yeah
- 47:18and you're not even gonna check?
- 47:19Yeah.
- 47:20Absolutely not.
- 47:21No.
- 47:21No, we're checking everything.
- 47:23And I would've been like fleeing back to the car as soon as
- 47:26she saw him like get grabbed.
- 47:27Yes.
- 47:28Back in the car.
- 47:29And I'm not gonna let you go.
- 47:30That thing has c- he's been sucked back into the car.
- 47:33You don't get to go over there now.
- 47:34Yeah.
- 47:34Oh, yeah, and just sit in the front seat with him.
- 47:36Crazy.
- 47:37That was also crazy.
- 47:39Yeah.
- 47:40And then the airbag.
- 47:42Oh, that was gruesome.
- 47:43The airbag did him like Freaky Nicki did Sarah- … with that brick.
- 47:46I thought that too.
- 47:50I was like whoa.
- 47:51I remember I was like dang.
- 47:53Yeah.
- 47:55Is that realistic?
- 47:56Brutal.
- 47:56If a airbag hits you like that?
- 47:58Is it just because- I don't think so … he was leaned so close to it?
- 48:01He was also pretty beat up.
- 48:03But that thing, like took his skin off.
- 48:05Yeah.
- 48:05I mean, like you could see all the- Like his eyeball and everything.
- 48:09Yeah.
- 48:09No, I don't think.
- 48:09Yeah, I don't, I don't think it would do that.
- 48:10I think it might give him, give you a black eye or something, but.
- 48:13I mean, I think it will break a nose or something like that.
- 48:16Yeah.
- 48:16I know airbags will.
- 48:18The impact can- Yeah … do stuff like that.
- 48:19I don't think it can take your face off.
- 48:21Yeah, that was intense.
- 48:22I would think that's a safety issue.
- 48:24They probably, the crash test dum- dummies would probably- Yeah … catch that one.
- 48:29Where their head just like flies like- Yeah … 10 feet back.
- 48:32Yeah, that was crazy.
- 48:34Um, let's see.
- 48:37I had like put, like 'cause I think there's still, like I think the dude's
- 48:41like he just sat there for a second.
- 48:43Yeah.
- 48:44And I was like, "That dude is dead. Like get on your way." Uh-huh.
- 48:47Get on your way.
- 48:48It's funny 'cause I put, "Oh my gosh, the evil lady's in the van."
- 48:51I thought it was a lady for a second.
- 48:53'Cause of the long hair, I think.
- 48:54Yeah.
- 48:55And then the cops let them leave so fast.
- 48:58I'm like okay- True … this person, there is a huge, the carnage that is
- 49:03in the front seat with that young man.
- 49:05Yeah.
- 49:06And they're just gonna be like, "Yeah, seems legit.
- 49:08You just stumbled upon an accident.
- 49:10You're free to go." Yeah.
- 49:11Like this man's whole face is off.
- 49:12It's not realistic.
- 49:14I know.
- 49:14You probably wanna look into these people.
- 49:16I mean, they're, they should be suspects.
- 49:18Like- I would think so … even though we know they're innocent.
- 49:19But they're like, "All right, be on your way." But do you think
- 49:22the cop got followed after that?
- 49:24No.
- 49:25I don't think so.
- 49:25Did the cop stopped?
- 49:26No, 'cause they stopped first.
- 49:28If once they s- the way I took it is like once they stopped, that was it.
- 49:32Yeah, he had marked them by that point.
- 49:33They were like chosen.
- 49:35So it was just, so I guess, I wonder if he only marks one at a time.
- 49:39I don't know.
- 49:39Mm. But, It probably doesn't.
- 49:41You- people probably don't usually live as long as they lived, 'cause
- 49:44those two guys were gone- That's what Diane said … like instantly.
- 49:46I mean, instantly.
- 49:47Yeah.
- 49:47Yeah.
- 49:48Yeah.
- 49:48Yeah, that's true.
- 49:48And all those people on that board that were missing.
- 49:51Mm, you think they were gotten to by him?
- 49:53Yeah, 'cause she pulled up one of the pictures and there was a, the m- the
- 49:58image of the man with the three lines.
- 49:59Ooh, yes.
- 50:00You know what that made me think of?
- 50:01You talking about, like, you finding the Slender Man.
- 50:04Yes, it… I thought about that too.
- 50:05Oh, my gosh.
- 50:06Get out of my brain.
- 50:07Yeah.
- 50:07That's crazy.
- 50:09So yeah, and then there's, like, the three claw marks on their van.
- 50:12Mm. So, like, yeah, they're marked.
- 50:14Um, I think it's, like, the next day, like, kind of like the
- 50:16demonic stuff, like the flies, the rotten fruit in her, in their van.
- 50:22Yeah … yeah, and then they just, like, pull up to this, what was it, like, van.
- 50:25What was it?
- 50:26Burning Van- Yeah … was, like, the name of that little camp that they're at.
- 50:30I thought Diane's whole character was interesting.
- 50:34I would've liked to, I don't know.
- 50:36I think, like, the the lore was very fascinating and my, I think
- 50:40it could've done a little bit more, like- Oh, with the hobo code?
- 50:43Yes.
- 50:44And I, I wonder- I wonder if that's real.
- 50:46I know.
- 50:46It's just kinda- Okay.
- 50:46So I had that get- Did you look it up?
- 50:48I did look that up.
- 50:49Oh, amazing.
- 50:50Um, because I was curious.
- 50:52I was like, "Oh, this is really cool that they're using this. Uh, it'll be
- 50:55even better if it's actually real." Yeah.
- 50:57So the, uh, it's hard to really nail down, because there are some sources that
- 51:03appear to say that it is, but then- Okay
- 51:05I'm gonna go with the Historic Graffiti Society.
- 51:09They're very credible.
- 51:10I think that these guys would probably know best about markings.
- 51:16Yeah.
- 51:16And so according to them, there's no actual evidence- Okay … other than
- 51:22it was something that was romanticized by newspapers a long time ago.
- 51:26And, 'cause they, they'll go they broke it down to, like, okay, look at what
- 51:29some of these symbols, quote, "mean," and it's, like, just some ridiculous stuff.
- 51:34Okay.
- 51:34Now, the three marks, the, not safe, that is one of them.
- 51:39Oh.
- 51:39So of the lore of hobo code, that is legit.
- 51:44I don't like that.
- 51:45So the three marks- Yeah … is- Yeah … it means this is,
- 51:48or this is not a safe place.
- 51:50Yeah.
- 51:50For just any number of reasons.
- 51:52Yeah.
- 51:53Okay.
- 51:54So th- then, so th- from what little- Gosh, now if I ever see that, I'm
- 51:57gonna be like, "Get out of here now."
- 51:59Well, I don't… Yeah.
- 51:59Yeah.
- 52:00Yeah.
- 52:00So what, what little, little research I did- Okay … it does appear to be
- 52:04that it is something that is more on the, the side of lore than actual truth-
- 52:08Yeah … because there's no… But then they did say, now, it could be that
- 52:12maybe this stuff was, if it was real, maybe it was, like, made with chalk or
- 52:17something that wasn't very permanent- Mm
- 52:19because they just don't have any You know, any evidence or any actual
- 52:25pictures of these specific symbols that you can find and these guides.
- 52:29Yeah.
- 52:29Yeah.
- 52:30I wonder, speaking of the Appalach- Appalachian Mountains again, like, I
- 52:35wonder if there are, like, codes in there.
- 52:40We need a movie on that.
- 52:42Yeah, I think the rule over there is just don't be outside at night.
- 52:45Yeah.
- 52:46Don't listen to any noises.
- 52:48If you hear something, don't- Ignored it.
- 52:49Yeah.
- 52:50Oh, I- Close your windows.
- 52:51I remember one that was like if you hear your name called, like, don't- Yeah,
- 52:54don't turn around … don't respond.
- 52:56Yep.
- 52:56Don't, don't go looking- Yeah Oh my gosh, that- Or something like
- 52:58that … it's so spooky … it's creepy.
- 53:00My TikTok will, like, somehow every single time I'm like, "We'll, we'll
- 53:04land on that," and then I'm like, "Okay, I need to, I need to get off
- 53:06of this." I'm sure there are some.
- 53:08We should look for some.
- 53:09Yeah.
- 53:10Some movies that take place out there.
- 53:11Um, but also, I just, like, felt, like, such dread whenever Diane was like, like
- 53:16grabbed her off to the side and was like, "Now you haven't stopped, have you?"
- 53:20I was like, oh gosh, like this is not a good thing.
- 53:24But then I thought it was funny how I was like, she's gone for five minutes, and
- 53:27then Tyler's got, like, the side of the van fixed with, like, the, the plumber.
- 53:30Yeah.
- 53:31I thought that was funny.
- 53:33Yeah.
- 53:34Um, who tells them, it's, like, the celebrity guy that, like, gyms
- 53:39are, like, their new best friend?
- 53:41Yes.
- 53:42So that whole gym parking lot scene really freaked me out.
- 53:46Yes.
- 53:46But also, I was so frustrated with her- Yeah … because for one, I probably
- 53:52wouldn't have gone to the van by myself.
- 53:53And then she walks past the car of those guys.
- 53:58Oh, yeah.
- 53:59Which that's, you're already kind of like, okay girl survival 101.
- 54:04She's distracted.
- 54:05She's got, like, headphones in.
- 54:06Yes.
- 54:06Like, you can't do that.
- 54:08Yeah.
- 54:08It's nighttime and all of that stuff, and then, like, you think maybe the
- 54:13threat is those guys, and they drive off.
- 54:16And then, like, Mark didn't notice it at first 'cause I I, like, had
- 54:19a ph- like a physical reaction when, you know, like, she was,
- 54:22she had finally gotten to the van.
- 54:24It panned around, and then when it came back around, the van had moved.
- 54:28Oh, I hated that.
- 54:29And I was like, oh my gosh, and he thought, 'cause he
- 54:31was looking for the guy.
- 54:32Yeah, well, I was, I was taking notes, and then I looked up- Yeah … and I
- 54:35missed the part where the van moved.
- 54:36And so I thought you saw the guy- No
- 54:38and so then I started looking for him.
- 54:39I was like, "Run it back," and then we watched it again, and I'm like, "See?
- 54:41The van moved." Yeah.
- 54:42And then it happened again.
- 54:43Yeah.
- 54:43And so I'm like, okay, whatever is happening, 'cause by this
- 54:47point, had she seen the guy yet?
- 54:50Not yet.
- 54:51She's in the- Up close, no … she's in the, yeah.
- 54:53Right.
- 54:54Yeah.
- 54:54And so but, like, something weird is happening, and it continues
- 54:58to draw you further and further away from the door of the gym.
- 55:01Turn around.
- 55:02Get your tail back into the building where there are a lot of people.
- 55:05Yeah.
- 55:07But then she got in the van and I was like, oh my gosh.
- 55:11Like- Right … that was such a terrible- You're, where you're like-
- 55:13decision … a sitting duck.
- 55:15Yes.
- 55:15It's not that, and- Covered up windows, so you can't even see
- 55:19if something's approaching.
- 55:20But in my mind I was like, no, I would not have undone like the, the shades.
- 55:26No, probably not.
- 55:27But I guess- But I wouldn't be there in the first place.
- 55:28Yeah.
- 55:29I don't know what I would've done in that situation.
- 55:30It also really scared me, like how she could hear like the
- 55:33footsteps running behind her.
- 55:35Ooh, yeah.
- 55:36Like running behind her, and then there's like nobody.
- 55:39Yeah.
- 55:39That, that was such a scary scene.
- 55:41Mm-hmm.
- 55:42And then I hated like her like looking in the iPad and like you see him standing.
- 55:47And then I almost, I literally almost peed- … whenever he's
- 55:51like right in front of the camera.
- 55:53Uh-huh.
- 55:53That scared me so bad.
- 55:55And then she's just like texting.
- 55:57Yeah.
- 55:57I'm like, I would be on the phone.
- 55:59You're like, you're calling.
- 56:00Right.
- 56:00What are you doing?
- 56:01You're driving the car.
- 56:02Go.
- 56:03Yeah.
- 56:03Go.
- 56:03Pull up to right at the front of the door.
- 56:05Yes, ma'am.
- 56:06At the least.
- 56:07Yeah.
- 56:08Oh, it just, I hated it so much.
- 56:11Yeah.
- 56:11She was, and I think there were a lot of times where I think they made the
- 56:17decision where you're like, oh, okay.
- 56:19Normally in a horror movie They would not have made the good decision.
- 56:24Like, later on when she was like, "No, we're not splitting up," they're like-
- 56:28toward the end, I'm like, "Okay, but then like sh- at the beginning here, and then
- 56:32she didn't tell him for a long time, like she had thought she saw something way
- 56:36back- Yeah … when they stopped, and she had been having this weird feeling and all
- 56:40this stuff and, and then he believed her.
- 56:42He was like, "I believe you that you saw the, or you saw something."
- 56:45Yeah.
- 56:46And n- normally in a movie like this, the person is like discrediting them or
- 56:50whatever, so that was kinda refreshing for it to be a little bit different.
- 56:53Yeah.
- 56:54But yeah, she was frustrating me hardcore in that sequence.
- 56:57But I was also like, that was, I wrote in my notes on, when
- 57:00it, the thing burned his hand.
- 57:02Ah, uh-huh.
- 57:03I was like, "Get a million of those- Yeah … right now." Yeah, we haven't
- 57:06talked about that yet, St. Christopher.
- 57:08Mm-hmm.
- 57:09'Cause she, what is it that she has, like, when they get started?
- 57:13It's like an SO, it's like a little pocket SOS thing.
- 57:15Yeah, I think so.
- 57:16A little GPS phone or something?
- 57:17Something like that, and she was like, "I think I'm gonna trust
- 57:20this," and he was like, "Well, then I guess you're going to hell.
- 57:22You have to have faith in St. Christopher.
- 57:23He's like the patron saint of travelers." Yeah.
- 57:25And then I guess that was the f- 'cause that's the first indication, 'cause
- 57:31she was just reaching for anything.
- 57:32She was just kinda desperate.
- 57:34Yeah.
- 57:34And it happened to burn him, and you're like, "Oh, shoot,
- 57:37there's something to that- Yeah
- 57:38that works." And then, like, you get more of the story later on.
- 57:43Who gave, was it Diane, when they finally found her, that
- 57:45gave her all those details?
- 57:46I think so.
- 57:47Yeah, it's- Or did they find that online?
- 57:48I think- She's the one telling them about the church … 'cause she found the book.
- 57:53Yeah.
- 57:54She finds the book, but then I wonder if she, like, was on, 'cause
- 57:57she, like- She went online for-
- 57:58was researching some too … yeah … and then maybe just, like Diane, like-
- 58:01Yeah, I can't remember … filled in any gaps … where they got that piece of
- 58:06Okay, it all … It escalated so quickly.
- 58:09It did, yeah.
- 58:09Um, so they … I'm trying to think sequen- sequentially, right?
- 58:13So- They were in the gym, and he was like, "I believe you." And then- Well,
- 58:17the ti- the point, the moment where he was, like, really a believer- The
- 58:21movie … the movie, the movie night out in the woods was also like, "Why
- 58:25did you do that?" That was so scary.
- 58:27Right.
- 58:27You just had this terrible experience.
- 58:29She says something's been following you, now let's go sit
- 58:32out in the middle of nowhere.
- 58:33Where also, Diane had given her specific rules.
- 58:37She was like- Yeah … don't, at the beginning, she was like, "Don't stop,
- 58:41don't drive on the quiet roads, and don't drive at night." Now let's go
- 58:44camp out on the quiet roads at night?
- 58:45Yeah.
- 58:46Really?
- 58:47I know.
- 58:47After you've had this experience.
- 58:48Yeah.
- 58:49I was wondering if, like, they were, like if they would've been safe outside
- 58:53of the van, because I feel like after some of that, they go to a hotel.
- 58:57We see them in a hotel and- Yeah … I guess they're okay.
- 59:00So it's like, is this thing just tied to them driving in that van?
- 59:04I think it's on those roads.
- 59:07Because also in the nighttime when they were in the ho- like, when
- 59:13they were in the hotel, when they were in the diner, they were fine.
- 59:16When they were at the truck stop in the evening, they were okay.
- 59:20Yeah.
- 59:22I think it's just when you're alone.
- 59:25On the, on the road at night On the road at night yeah.
- 59:28Yeah, I was like, are they about to break up right now?
- 59:30Because that's like when they're watching the movie- … and like Maddie
- 59:33wants to go back to a normal life.
- 59:35Tyler wants to like continue the van life.
- 59:37And then, yeah, like you start to see like something happen in like
- 59:40the middle of the projector screen.
- 59:41And like Tyler goes to look at it, and it's like you can see like the,
- 59:46like the silhouette of like someone like poking through the screen.
- 59:49Seriously, I was so freaked out.
- 59:53And I was watching this Saturday night while everybody was at that party, and
- 59:57I was here with Jay, and I, I was like, "I am not enjoying this right now."
- 1:00:02'Cause then he like pulls it back, and then there's nobody there.
- 1:00:06Yeah.
- 1:00:06And then, yeah, it starts getting all crazy.
- 1:00:09Yeah.
- 1:00:10And like that was a weird conversation to have right there
- 1:00:14in the middle of that movie.
- 1:00:15Like, before y'all sold everything- … and said, "Okay, we're gonna live this
- 1:00:22van life," did they not talk about how he wanted it to be permanent and she
- 1:00:27thought it was maybe temporary, or what?
- 1:00:29'Cause that was very much like a- That would be the rational
- 1:00:33thing to do … I, I don't know.
- 1:00:34That was a, it was odd to me.
- 1:00:35'Cause she- Yeah … she was like- I- … "I don't think I really wanna do
- 1:00:39this." I took it as I think she wanted to do that with him because he wanted to.
- 1:00:47But then after I think, what, six weeks is the time- Yeah
- 1:00:50that has gone by, and then she's like, "Yeah, I can't do this." And that's,
- 1:00:55that's a reasonable thing to like… And to me, you know, he's, he's in
- 1:00:58there saying, "Well, we, we talked about this, and, and this is, you know,
- 1:01:02this is what we decided." And, dude is so obsessed with this van life.
- 1:01:06Earlier he's, he's in that parking lot full of vans, which…
- 1:01:10And he just goes, "Oh, man, look at this. This is so great." You
- 1:01:13know, like he's looking at a, a, some scenic Mountain View, but he's
- 1:01:16looking at a field full of vans.
- 1:01:17Yeah.
- 1:01:18Yeah.
- 1:01:18And, I don't know.
- 1:01:19It's just one of those things where I don't, I don't understand how
- 1:01:21he wasn't like, "Yeah, I get it.
- 1:01:24You know, maybe you've, you did six weeks of this, and then you figured
- 1:01:27out that you don't like that." Yeah.
- 1:01:29Like, that's, that's such a reasonable- That's a good valiant
- 1:01:32try … expectation, you know?
- 1:01:33Yeah.
- 1:01:33Yeah.
- 1:01:34Yeah.
- 1:01:34Well, and they kept talking about their pasts, right?
- 1:01:37And she was like, "I want stability."
- 1:01:41She's like, "I didn't have that grow- you know, I didn't have that growing up.
- 1:01:45That's the one thing I want." And he said, "Well, I had that, and it was not
- 1:01:50all it's cracked up to be, so what's your problem?" But like do… They had
- 1:01:56never had that talk about what they want.
- 1:01:59Like, if, if all you want is stability and security- Yeah
- 1:02:03because you didn't have that, I would think that agreeing to do
- 1:02:07this for any amount of time really would be… Like, we would've had to
- 1:02:14talk about that before it happened.
- 1:02:16'Cause she wasn't wor- neither of them were working, right?
- 1:02:20No, they were, they're working I think.
- 1:02:22Yeah.
- 1:02:23'Cause he said, "So and so called me from my old job and said I
- 1:02:25could do it completely remotely- Oh
- 1:02:27so we could do this forever if we wanted to." Yeah.
- 1:02:29So maybe they were, like, on, like, a sabbatical or something.
- 1:02:33Maybe.
- 1:02:34I mean, I don't know what that life is like, but- I, yeah, couldn't tell you.
- 1:02:37Yeah.
- 1:02:37To have that, to not be tethered to a… Oh my gosh, that would be so nice.
- 1:02:42But then, like, I'll spend, like, if this last extended, like, Labor Day weekend,
- 1:02:46I think we were home, like, a majority of the time, and, like, I was starting to
- 1:02:50kinda go stir crazy I think a little bit.
- 1:02:53I have to get out and see other people sometimes.
- 1:02:57Mm-hmm.
- 1:02:58But I do have periods where I'm like, "I could just lock away as long as
- 1:03:05you're there- Mm … and just be like- Yeah … I don't care what…
- 1:03:10I can disappear." That would be fun.
- 1:03:12Good, yeah.
- 1:03:12But then I get tired of it, then I'm like, "I got to get outta here." Yeah.
- 1:03:15Like, when I had COVID and strep for a while, and you know, at the time
- 1:03:18when you had to, like, quarantine for long periods of time- … I was
- 1:03:21starting to get a little- Stir crazy?
- 1:03:24Yeah, for sure.
- 1:03:24Yeah.
- 1:03:25Um, let's see.
- 1:03:28So they finally get back into the van after, like, seeing this guy, like,
- 1:03:33play with them basically in the woods, and then they don't have their keys.
- 1:03:40Yeah.
- 1:03:40And he, like, it was so, like, it was really creepy how it
- 1:03:44was just hanging from a branch.
- 1:03:46It was just like, it was, like, a toying him.
- 1:03:48Yeah.
- 1:03:48Like- It's a trap.
- 1:03:49Like, "This is what you want?" Yeah, I literally put, "It's a trap." I said,
- 1:03:51"Bro, grab the keys and run." Run.
- 1:03:53Like, why we looking around?
- 1:03:55'Cause, like, didn't the d- the demon get, like, right in his face too?
- 1:03:58Yeah, it was kinda behind him.
- 1:04:00Yeah.
- 1:04:00'Cause, like, it was, like, a stump- … that was sort of in the
- 1:04:03shape of a person- Yeah … that he had put the light over a couple
- 1:04:07times, and it wasn't, it was a stump.
- 1:04:09But then he got the keys, and they turned around again, and it was the guy.
- 1:04:13Ugh, that was, I hated that.
- 1:04:16And so then at one point, I was like, "Are they safe outside the van?"
- 1:04:19Like, it just seemed like as long as they, if they weren't driving, they were fine.
- 1:04:24No, I think- I think as long as they were by themselves out in the middle
- 1:04:30of nowhere, I think they were toast.
- 1:04:32Yeah.
- 1:04:34When is it… Okay, because is it after this they're, like, trying to find Diane?
- 1:04:41Yes.
- 1:04:41And then they find her, and then they're, like, talking about, because
- 1:04:46I think there's, like, that whole thing with Diane, and then they're
- 1:04:48driving, but again, they're driving at night, and then their tire goes flat.
- 1:04:52Yes, and that was weird because they had the plan, right- Yeah … of,
- 1:04:57like, we're only driving in the day.
- 1:04:58They're like, we n- Yeah … we know we need to go to Flagstaff.
- 1:05:01But then they, like, blink and it's night, and they're like, "How did
- 1:05:03it get to be night?" That's right.
- 1:05:06That's right.
- 1:05:07It's like they both fell asleep.
- 1:05:09It was weird.
- 1:05:10Very weird.
- 1:05:11Um, 'cause it was already getting… It was kinda dusky, and they're like,
- 1:05:14"I think we're gonna make it." And then it's like- I th- … it's dark.
- 1:05:17You're right.
- 1:05:18So I don't know if they both zoned out or if… Because he can't control, like,
- 1:05:23space and time, I don't think, the guy.
- 1:05:26I don't know.
- 1:05:27I mean, like, I guess that it just goes back to that very first guy, like, was
- 1:05:31he in a loop or was this guy just, like- Yeah … following him down the way?
- 1:05:36But this is after the whole Diane thing happens, right?
- 1:05:41The flat tire was- Or it was after I think the flat tire was before Diane.
- 1:05:46I think so.
- 1:05:46Okay.
- 1:05:47Because, uh- 'Cause he c- They were on their way- Yeah, they're- … to her.
- 1:05:51Okay.
- 1:05:52They were on their way.
- 1:05:52Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
- 1:05:52To that seafood restaurant.
- 1:05:54And I remember thinking it was stupid that they, you know, they already knew
- 1:05:57and they had already ma- made a decision, "Hey, we're not gonna travel at night."
- 1:06:01And then here they are, it's almost night time, "Oh, maybe we should-
- 1:06:04Yeah … find a place." They should've pulled over long ago.
- 1:06:06And I'm like, "Why are you waiting until now- Yeah … to find a
- 1:06:08place?" In the middle of nowhere.
- 1:06:10Yeah.
- 1:06:10Right.
- 1:06:11And then they have a flat tire and then of course, you know,
- 1:06:13he goes crawling up underneath.
- 1:06:14Mm. Oh.
- 1:06:15Yeah.
- 1:06:15The, the jacked up thing, which is like- That's, yeah.
- 1:06:17He looks so scary.
- 1:06:18I was like, "He's gonna get his head crushed. That thing's gonna fall
- 1:06:20right on him." I thought so too, but then I was like, okay, it's a van.
- 1:06:24So and, and then I was like, okay, maybe if the tire's off it will fall down lower.
- 1:06:28But, like, you know, normally you could climb up under a van- That's true
- 1:06:31like that.
- 1:06:32Like, I was like, it's c- surely it's, it's not gonna crush him.
- 1:06:35That's true.
- 1:06:36But then maybe, maybe if this is, there's no tire holding it up back there.
- 1:06:40Yeah.
- 1:06:40'Cause it did scrape his leg pretty good.
- 1:06:42Yeah.
- 1:06:42But yeah, when he turned around and all of the bolts were gone.
- 1:06:46I was like, "Oh, no." S- I know.
- 1:06:48This is bad.
- 1:06:49And it's like that thing is he let him do all of that, get all of the tire
- 1:06:54changed, and then, like, the final step he's like, and then took her.
- 1:06:59Yes.
- 1:06:59After all that.
- 1:07:00But she, I don't, her wandering around.
- 1:07:03I know.
- 1:07:04Her walking around the van.
- 1:07:05I was like, okay, when's he gonna show up?
- 1:07:08'cause you know that's gonna happen.
- 1:07:10Yeah.
- 1:07:11But it was just, it was super freaky.
- 1:07:14And then did he dri- he, did he… He put the tire on?
- 1:07:19Yeah, he had to put the tire back on.
- 1:07:19Yeah.
- 1:07:19To hit her.
- 1:07:20Oh, that's right, 'cause he did, like, some Fast and Furious-
- 1:07:22Yeah … driving skills after that.
- 1:07:24And then, you know, he almost hit her.
- 1:07:25Well, because it's like, it's like she gets taken out, and then he
- 1:07:30drives, and then it sh- goes back to Maddie, and she's, like, waking up.
- 1:07:34And she's just on this road, and then she thinks that it's Tyler driving up to
- 1:07:41save her, and then it's the actual thing.
- 1:07:42But then he's, like, making her, like, do this weird, like, kneeling thing- Yeah
- 1:07:46in the middle of the road, which I thought was weird.
- 1:07:48And I was like, why are they so special that, like, this demon
- 1:07:52is, like, toying with them?
- 1:07:53It's like a cat and mouse the whole time.
- 1:07:56I don't know, 'cause, like- Well, even Diane, she points that out.
- 1:08:01She says normally you don't last this long.
- 1:08:03Oh, that's right.
- 1:08:04Yeah.
- 1:08:04Yeah.
- 1:08:05And I think maybe they had made enough okay choices, right?
- 1:08:09'Cause Lucas and the other guy, they were just out there.
- 1:08:14True, yeah.
- 1:08:14They had gotten away, and so I don't know why he did toy with them so much.
- 1:08:18But, um, I thought it was about to be, like, super heartbreaking,
- 1:08:24'cause I thought- he was gonna b- be the reason that she died.
- 1:08:28Oh, yeah.
- 1:08:28Like, he was gonna run her over.
- 1:08:30Yeah.
- 1:08:30So when he didn't, I was like, not disappointed, 'cause then you know, I
- 1:08:35didn't want that to happen, but I- it was just not really what I expected.
- 1:08:38And I'm like, "Okay, where do you go from here?" Yeah.
- 1:08:40Then I thought it was weird that he just let him get her.
- 1:08:43Yeah.
- 1:08:44That he didn't attack- It- … them both there.
- 1:08:47I don't know.
- 1:08:47It's like he's getting so much pleasure from the chase.
- 1:08:50Yes.
- 1:08:51I don't know.
- 1:08:51And then they knew when they pulled up to, I was thinking when they pulled up
- 1:08:57to Arizona and that other encampment- Mm-hmm … that they found Diane at,
- 1:09:03and you know, they were walking up to people, I don't know if those people
- 1:09:06could just tell that they had- Hmm
- 1:09:09something attached to them.
- 1:09:10But then, like it got Diane so fast.
- 1:09:13Okay.
- 1:09:13And I, to that too- Ah … I was like, okay, so like, we're going to go through
- 1:09:20all of these rules, and then immediately we're just gonna start driving at night?
- 1:09:25Well, I guess they didn't really have time, because it started
- 1:09:28attacking the encampment, right?
- 1:09:31So they, even they weren't safe around all those people because it started, like the
- 1:09:35wind started blowing and stuff, and she's like, "Well, crap." Yeah, I guess so.
- 1:09:39"We gotta do something now." They couldn't just stay.
- 1:09:40And they were like telling everybody to get inside and
- 1:09:43like lock their doors and stuff.
- 1:09:44Yeah.
- 1:09:45Yeah, I just was like, what are we doing?
- 1:09:47Like, but you're right, like it was starting to get windy.
- 1:09:50But yeah, I did not expect her- No … to get … 'Cause this thing like-
- 1:09:56Yeah … rips her head off of her neck.
- 1:09:58I thought she'd maybe get to lead them pretty close to the church,
- 1:10:01which is why, it was like super hopeless, 'cause they were like, "We
- 1:10:04have no-" Idea where this church is
- 1:10:06idea where this is.
- 1:10:07What they, she said it's out in the middle of nowhere, it's off these weird roads.
- 1:10:10Yeah.
- 1:10:11Um, and so that's when they stopped at the gas station and like, got like every
- 1:10:18Saint Christopher medallion that they had.
- 1:10:22Some other stuff, I can't remember
- 1:10:27And then they just went looking, right?
- 1:10:30Yeah, I was trying to look at my notes.
- 1:10:32Yeah, they, and they fi- found a, a symbol on a sign or something.
- 1:10:36Yeah.
- 1:10:36Yeah.
- 1:10:36They're driving… Yeah.
- 1:10:38'Cause she was like, "You gotta learn how to read the signs." Diane had said that.
- 1:10:42And that girl had gotten the hobo code book or with all the signs
- 1:10:47in it, so she remembered that
- 1:10:51But like, I don't- How did they- I don't know, that sequence was wild.
- 1:10:54I'm trying to read 'cause I'm like, oh my gosh, it got Diane.
- 1:10:56I said, "My hand's covering my mouth, OMG." And then I thought, okay, well
- 1:11:01they should be fine with all the Saint Chr- Christopher coins like hanging in
- 1:11:04their van, and then you can see him like- Yeah, those- … pulling these coins
- 1:11:08back, like- Wouldn't do a single thing
- 1:11:10flinging them out.
- 1:11:10Yeah.
- 1:11:11Yeah.
- 1:11:12I think they were just driving along and they just found a, a go this way symbol.
- 1:11:18And then there were more.
- 1:11:19Yeah.
- 1:11:20And then- In like this field, and then they come across this big old field
- 1:11:24with all these like wrapped up bodies.
- 1:11:25Yeah.
- 1:11:26And they were like, "Is this real? Is this not?"
- 1:11:29And I was like, honestly at this point, like these bodies,
- 1:11:31they're not getting any deader.
- 1:11:32That's what I said.
- 1:11:33Like I don't care if it's real or not, just go.
- 1:11:35Just floor it, man.
- 1:11:35'Cause you're already running on fumes.
- 1:11:38Yeah, like you know- They had like no gas left.
- 1:11:40Yeah.
- 1:11:40You just gotta go.
- 1:11:41You just have to.
- 1:11:41Shortest distance from A to B. Just- Like and you know this thing is coming for you,
- 1:11:44like yeah, what other choice do you have?
- 1:11:45Mm-hmm.
- 1:11:45You have to floor it.
- 1:11:46So- 'Cause at that point he had not pulled Caleb out the van yet, right?
- 1:11:53Correct.
- 1:11:53He got on the van while they were closer to the church?
- 1:11:56Yeah.
- 1:11:57So what did I say?
- 1:11:59Yeah, they're so close to the church- Caleb, who's Caleb?
- 1:12:01I don't know.
- 1:12:01Tyler?
- 1:12:01I was just gonna let you go with it.
- 1:12:02I think it was Caleb.
- 1:12:03I don't even know where, where that even came from.
- 1:12:05I don't know.
- 1:12:05Yeah.
- 1:12:06They're so close to the church, the passenger's in the field, and then
- 1:12:09yeah, and then he gets thrown out.
- 1:12:11And so he's like telling her to keep going.
- 1:12:13Yeah.
- 1:12:14Um, so she like gets into the church, but then he's like burning
- 1:12:17up, but he's like not dying yet.
- 1:12:19I was like, how is she gonna kill this thing?
- 1:12:21Yeah.
- 1:12:22It like k- it's on holy ground- Yeah, and she's like- … and you can
- 1:12:26see it like sizzling, like burning.
- 1:12:27Yeah, 'cause Diane had said maybe that'll weaken it enough where you can kill it.
- 1:12:31Yeah.
- 1:12:31I'm like, if that statue had not fallen over- Mm-hmm … in the way that it
- 1:12:37did, and she could impale it, I think she would've gotten got, because- I
- 1:12:41think so … it really wasn't that weak.
- 1:12:42Which maybe that's Saint Christopher, 'cause it was his statue, so
- 1:12:46maybe it's like the, that's him protecting her- Maybe, yeah
- 1:12:49again, I guess.
- 1:12:50I don't know.
- 1:12:51Yeah.
- 1:12:52So then he gets, the demon gets impaled- Yeah … and then
- 1:12:56the whole church sets on fire.
- 1:12:59Yes.
- 1:12:59And I was like, dang, this demon had to go out with a bang.
- 1:13:03A fiery bang.
- 1:13:04And she took her time getting out of there.
- 1:13:06They both did.
- 1:13:06She sure did.
- 1:13:08Yeah.
- 1:13:09I don't know.
- 1:13:09I mean, maybe, like, if it's the exhaustion or, like, just being so
- 1:13:14stunned, but yeah, they did take a hot minute to get out of there.
- 1:13:17Yeah.
- 1:13:18I mean, she got kinda disoriented in there.
- 1:13:21Yeah.
- 1:13:21And So then he showed up, and it's like, okay, you … Well, just turn around.
- 1:13:26Go back exactly the way you came.
- 1:13:27But they kinda, like, hugged for a minute.
- 1:13:30I'm like, now's not the time.
- 1:13:32Yeah.
- 1:13:32This is not the setting for this.
- 1:13:34No.
- 1:13:34You gotta get out.
- 1:13:35Yeah.
- 1:13:36And then they're sitting out there, and I'm like, well, how
- 1:13:38are they gonna get out of there?
- 1:13:40Yeah.
- 1:13:40But it was a good circle back to the beginning with that little-
- 1:13:44it's cool 'cause, like, both things, they needed both things.
- 1:13:46Yeah.
- 1:13:47Like, the St. Christopher and the SOS thing.
- 1:13:50They were a good complement- Yeah … to each other.
- 1:13:53Yeah.
- 1:13:54I just, I really was impressed with this movie.
- 1:13:56I liked it a lot.
- 1:13:57I don't think it got the hype that it deserved, honestly.
- 1:13:59I heard that it was good.
- 1:14:01I didn't hear much about it, but what I did see people say
- 1:14:05was that they really enjoyed it.
- 1:14:07Yeah.
- 1:14:07But I didn't hear a lot of talk about it.
- 1:14:09But I thought it was really good.
- 1:14:11Yeah.
- 1:14:12Yeah, I enjoyed it a lot.
- 1:14:13I don't see … There aren't a lot of movies anymore that do scary
- 1:14:19well- and that are different, right?
- 1:14:22Yeah.
- 1:14:22This was a unique-
- 1:14:25Set up, I feel like.
- 1:14:27I agree.
- 1:14:28It was creative.
- 1:14:30All right.
- 1:14:32So dumb decisions.
- 1:14:34I- Yeah.
- 1:14:36Several.
- 1:14:36Several.
- 1:14:37Yeah.
- 1:14:37Yeah.
- 1:14:37Honestly- Multiple … a lot of them we actually have already said, but you know,
- 1:14:41of course I put down peeing off the road, like basically going on a, a nature hike-
- 1:14:46for about 30 minutes before finally stopping to go to the bathroom.
- 1:14:49That was dumb.
- 1:14:50And you guys pointed this out, leaving your headphones in while
- 1:14:53venturing out into a parking lot at night, which is- Yeah … yeah, you
- 1:14:56said that women shouldn't do that.
- 1:14:57Men shouldn't do that.
- 1:14:59I mean, nobody should.
- 1:14:59Nobody should do that.
- 1:14:59Yeah.
- 1:15:00That is, like, is such a vulnerable state to put yourself into, especially at night.
- 1:15:04Yeah.
- 1:15:05You've got your… You can't hear anything- Yeah … around you.
- 1:15:07In this world- Yeah … you gotta protect yourself.
- 1:15:09Yeah.
- 1:15:10Yeah.
- 1:15:10You gotta, you gotta be able to know your surroundings.
- 1:15:14And, um, then there was, you know, they got back in the van
- 1:15:18after the slashes came back.
- 1:15:20Mm-hmm.
- 1:15:20Yeah.
- 1:15:21Which was like a clear sign of, "Hey, this isn't over." Well,
- 1:15:24he fit- There's just, like, you know- … behind that Mercedes van.
- 1:15:27Um, they had put a lot of work into that.
- 1:15:29Yeah, true.
- 1:15:29They, they, it looked like the Taj Mahal inside of there.
- 1:15:32Yeah.
- 1:15:32Also put camping in the woods, really.
- 1:15:34Right.
- 1:15:35Um, that just didn't make any sense to do that, especially
- 1:15:38after what had just happened and after what they had been told.
- 1:15:41Yeah.
- 1:15:41Um, and they just were like, "Okay, let's just go do this really dumb thing." Yeah.
- 1:15:44And I think that's pretty much it for what I had.
- 1:15:46Like, uh, I put also in a, just my own quote here, like, "You don't sound
- 1:15:49thrilled to live in a van." You know?
- 1:15:50Why are you doing that?
- 1:15:51Why?
- 1:15:52Yeah.
- 1:15:52Yeah.
- 1:15:53I think the ultimate fatal flaw was wanting to go get barbecue.
- 1:15:58I think that started the whole thing.
- 1:16:00It is.
- 1:16:00It started the whole journey.
- 1:16:01I mean, if they had just stayed on the route they were supposed
- 1:16:03to- Yeah … she would've had her beautiful proposal at the hot springs.
- 1:16:07Yep.
- 1:16:07They could've had their define the relationship talk, at a not deadly time.
- 1:16:13Everything would've turned out differently, but she
- 1:16:14had to get some brisket.
- 1:16:17And honestly- risk it for the brisket.
- 1:16:18She- She did, and it was rough.
- 1:16:23Yeah.
- 1:16:23I don't think she would say it was worth it.
- 1:16:25I doubt it.
- 1:16:26It really never is.
- 1:16:27I wouldn't think so.
- 1:16:28I mean, there's some good barbecue out there, but it's not worth your life.
- 1:16:31What food would be?
- 1:16:33Oh, geez.
- 1:16:35I think it depends on the day.
- 1:16:37I'm, I'm in- Oh … I, I just go through moods.
- 1:16:39I have hyperfixation times.
- 1:16:41Yeah?
- 1:16:42Yeah.
- 1:16:42Okay.
- 1:16:43So, like right now, what is it?
- 1:16:46I don't know.
- 1:16:47Right now I really want stuff that I, it makes m- my life difficult.
- 1:16:53Like I want ramen noodles and- Oh.
- 1:16:57Sushi and stuff like that.
- 1:16:59Oh.
- 1:16:59I, I go through Asian food kicks- That's rough … really.
- 1:17:01Yeah.
- 1:17:02Yeah.
- 1:17:03Or like I have to have a specific salad from Newk's or
- 1:17:07Slim's or something like that.
- 1:17:08Oh.
- 1:17:08It'll be like one thing, and I'm like, "I want it all the time."
- 1:17:11Yeah.
- 1:17:12And then Mark will find something from that restaurant or something
- 1:17:15similar that he can like work with.
- 1:17:17Yeah.
- 1:17:18And then I'll be like, "I hate this. I don't want it anymore."
- 1:17:23Oh, man.
- 1:17:24How do you cope with that?
- 1:17:27You just do.
- 1:17:27Yeah.
- 1:17:28You just do.
- 1:17:28You just find a way.
- 1:17:30Yeah.
- 1:17:31Yeah.
- 1:17:31I mean, I think, I think for me, yeah, it just kinda depends, you know, if, if
- 1:17:34you're, if it's not, finding food that's worth it while traveling- Yeah … 'cause
- 1:17:39that, that is a big thing for us is finding foods that we can't normally get.
- 1:17:43And so I don't know, I would probably risk it for a really good
- 1:17:46roll- really good lobster roll.
- 1:17:48Oh.
- 1:17:49Oh.
- 1:17:49Yeah.
- 1:17:49Yeah.
- 1:17:50So what is your food that's worth it?
- 1:17:54Worth a curse?
- 1:17:56I'm a, I'm such a foodie, so that's hard.
- 1:17:59But like I think, I don't know, a good classic unlimited chips and queso-
- 1:18:07Oh, yeah … and salsa and a good margarita, that would be worth it.
- 1:18:11Oh, nice.
- 1:18:12Like, if it was like advertised as like the best margarita- Mm-hmm … I would
- 1:18:15have to test that theory, and it would be worth going through this experience for.
- 1:18:20Okay.
- 1:18:21I do love chips and salsa.
- 1:18:23If a restaurant, a Mexican restaurant does not offer like the free chips and salsa,
- 1:18:27I'm like, "This is not- You're, yeah
- 1:18:28this is not for me." Not worth it?
- 1:18:29No.
- 1:18:29Trying to think what else.
- 1:18:31The fact that they did not immediately leave the movie.
- 1:18:35Like, obviously it- when he saw the thing behind the, um, the screen when they were
- 1:18:41watching the movie, but like before that, they had heard a handful of weird noises.
- 1:18:45Yeah.
- 1:18:45And it's like like you, you're, you've been followed, and
- 1:18:49you're hearing noises now.
- 1:18:49It's time to pack it up.
- 1:18:51Yeah, I put- We don't need to keep having this conversation.
- 1:18:53Right.
- 1:18:53I put in my notes that, you know, he had just had that conversation
- 1:18:57about getting the pay bump.
- 1:18:59Yeah.
- 1:18:59Mm-hmm.
- 1:18:59And I was like, "Listen, you just got a pay bump. Leave the projector.
- 1:19:05Probably cheap anyway." Yeah.
- 1:19:06Yep.
- 1:19:07Whatever's out there, the chairs, you can get new ones.
- 1:19:09Yeah.
- 1:19:10Just go.
- 1:19:11Just get outta there.
- 1:19:12Yeah.
- 1:19:12Right.
- 1:19:12And it turns out they couldn't have gone anywhere.
- 1:19:14Right, it turns out they couldn't 'cause the keys were- But- … whatever … but
- 1:19:16they didn't even try is the point.
- 1:19:17Right.
- 1:19:17yeah.
- 1:19:18Yeah.
- 1:19:18And then it was like walking on top of the van, and they
- 1:19:21weren't trying to turn the keys.
- 1:19:23It took 'em a minute.
- 1:19:23Like, it had walked on, it had like walked all over the van for a while, and
- 1:19:27they just sat in there listening to it.
- 1:19:28What are we gonna do?
- 1:19:29Drive.
- 1:19:30Yeah.
- 1:19:30Get out of there.
- 1:19:31It reminded me of The Blair Witch Project.
- 1:19:34It's been so long since I've seen that.
- 1:19:36I remember that the very end really, really creeped me out.
- 1:19:39Mm-hmm.
- 1:19:40But I don't remember much else about that movie at all.
- 1:19:43They're like, I think they're in the Appalachians, which has come up
- 1:19:47a lot- Yeah … um, this episode.
- 1:19:49But there's like a scene where they're in their tent, and like
- 1:19:52it starts like shaking their tent- Oh … like in the middle of the night.
- 1:19:55See?
- 1:19:55We don't go camping.
- 1:19:56Don't put yourself in that position.
- 1:19:58Oh, but it's so fun when you get to go.
- 1:20:01All right, so- Didn't have any other ones … then rules for survival.
- 1:20:07We know Diane gave them some.
- 1:20:08Don't stop, don't drive on the quiet roads, don't drive at night.
- 1:20:11And those are the, like, the very beginning.
- 1:20:13Yeah.
- 1:20:13She kinda gave… It was almost like It Follows when the guy gave her a
- 1:20:16blueprint for- Oh, yeah … survival, and then it's like, "Let me not
- 1:20:19do what you just told me." Yeah.
- 1:20:20Distracted, Walking alone in a parking lot, um- Don't try to- … not
- 1:20:24checking your car when you get in it.
- 1:20:26Don't try to help others.
- 1:20:27No.
- 1:20:28No.
- 1:20:28At one point, did he say or she said?
- 1:20:31Somebody said, "I'll be right back," and, uh, she did.
- 1:20:33She went to the bathroom.
- 1:20:35Mm. And I was like, "Girl, don't say it." You just messed it all up.
- 1:20:39Don't say that.
- 1:20:40Don't go crawling underneath a jacked-up vehicle when a crazy
- 1:20:43highway demon is after you.
- 1:20:44Yeah.
- 1:20:45And you know that it's after you.
- 1:20:46That always gets me.
- 1:20:47In any kind of movie, when anybody's up under a car.
- 1:20:50Yikes.
- 1:20:52Okay.
- 1:20:53So would y'all survive?
- 1:20:55At first I thought yes, because I don't think I would've stopped
- 1:20:58at that crash, that crash.
- 1:21:00Especially if my perception of, like, the guy who drove me was, like, being a turd.
- 1:21:05Oh.
- 1:21:05Which we also did not talk about, like, how she was able
- 1:21:09to see that there- That's right
- 1:21:10was, like, something in the car and that webcam 'cause, like, the,
- 1:21:13the dash cam kept breaking out.
- 1:21:15But I think at first I would have, like, been like, "You deserve that."
- 1:21:19Because sometimes whenever people are driving crazy on the road, I will
- 1:21:24think "Some some bad karma be coming to you, bro." I keep mo- usually
- 1:21:29I want them to get pulled over.
- 1:21:31Yeah.
- 1:21:31Because, like, if they're driving crazy, then, like, I don't want them to be hurt,
- 1:21:38but, like, I want them to get caught.
- 1:21:41Uh, yeah, I just wish there would be some sort of consequence
- 1:21:44for their crazy action.
- 1:21:45Yeah.
- 1:21:46Like, the other day I was driving home from work, and it
- 1:21:48was, we were on the highway.
- 1:21:51It's three cars.
- 1:21:53Like, all three lanes are just stopped, and this motorcycle comes.
- 1:21:57I'm in the leftmost lane- comes driving between us and the middle
- 1:22:02lane- Forget it … just zooming up.
- 1:22:04It makes me so mad.
- 1:22:05I'm like, "That's not a lane." Yeah.
- 1:22:06And how dangerous- Yeah … for you and everybody around.
- 1:22:10Like, if somebody, if we're at a standstill and somebody decides to
- 1:22:14open their door, and you're walking around and you're just driving
- 1:22:19through, you're gonna get knocked off.
- 1:22:20Yeah.
- 1:22:21What if they hurt you?
- 1:22:22And that's your fault, that's not their fault.
- 1:22:24Yeah.
- 1:22:24But because you're more exposed being on a motorcycle- … you're more
- 1:22:30likely to be hurt than they are.
- 1:22:32And so then they have to live with that- That- … when it
- 1:22:36wasn't really their fault.
- 1:22:37Like, it's just, uh, yeah, I want people to get caught, 'cause I want
- 1:22:41them to stop doing crazy things.
- 1:22:43Well, and 9 times out of 10, I'm like, where are you trying
- 1:22:46to go that is so important?
- 1:22:48Yeah, like your wife better be in labor.
- 1:22:51When I was in labor, Alek wasn't even driving that crazy.
- 1:22:53No.
- 1:22:54'Cause usually you got some time.
- 1:22:55Yeah.
- 1:22:56But like, something urgent better be happening.
- 1:23:00Best be happening.
- 1:23:00Mm-hmm.
- 1:23:01But I usually don't give people the benefit of the doubt.
- 1:23:03No.
- 1:23:03'Cause like, how many, what are the odds?
- 1:23:05Slim.
- 1:23:06Yeah.
- 1:23:06I would agree with that.
- 1:23:07As much as we encounter crazy drivers, I'm like, everybody's not
- 1:23:12having these legitimate emergencies.
- 1:23:14Yeah, no.
- 1:23:15You're just trying to, you're running late for work or something.
- 1:23:18Yeah.
- 1:23:19That's your fault.
- 1:23:20Which fair enough, I'm running late for work 100% of the time.
- 1:23:24Me too.
- 1:23:24And I get mad when people are going the speed limit in front of me.
- 1:23:26I f- I feel that.
- 1:23:27Yeah.
- 1:23:27But I'm also not gonna weave in and out- In and out … and make
- 1:23:31everybody else in danger, yeah.
- 1:23:34Would I survive?
- 1:23:36I don't think I could handle the psychological torture.
- 1:23:39I think I would- Hmm … I would give it up.
- 1:23:41I think I would just you gotta g- I think I would freeze at some point and just be
- 1:23:47like, "I guess you got me." Or I would try to stay in a well-lit place all the time.
- 1:23:51For the rest of my life.
- 1:23:51I would, yeah, I would never drive anywhere that wasn't well-populated.
- 1:23:56That's probably more likely what would happen.
- 1:23:58Yeah.
- 1:23:58'Cause I do think I would follow her rules once I knew them.
- 1:24:01Yeah.
- 1:24:02But I feel like this thing would figure a way to… Like them,
- 1:24:06like they were trying to do right, but he ended up trapping them.
- 1:24:10Yeah.
- 1:24:10Did he give them a flat, do we think?
- 1:24:12Oh, yeah.
- 1:24:13Okay.
- 1:24:14I think it's like some Jeepers Creepers stuff.
- 1:24:16Like where he like threw the little, the tooth thingy.
- 1:24:20Yeah.
- 1:24:20The tooth dagger.
- 1:24:22Mark, do you think you would survive?
- 1:24:24I put no, because I have to stop for snacks- … and I don't have
- 1:24:29a St. Christopher medallion.
- 1:24:30But you're okay- Ah … at a gas station.
- 1:24:32They were fine at the gas stations and the diners.
- 1:24:35I guess that's true.
- 1:24:37So maybe.
- 1:24:37But I don't know, I just kinda thought- I don't know, because when they were in that
- 1:24:41encampment, that was a populated area- Yeah … and they were all terrified-
- 1:24:45That's true … and it came in there.
- 1:24:46Well, but they were also all travelers, all those people.
- 1:24:48So y- so is most people at a rest stop.
- 1:24:51Yeah, but- Mm
- 1:24:52I don't know.
- 1:24:53They were, they seemed to be safe in those places.
- 1:24:56When they were at the hotel, also travelers, when they were at the rest
- 1:25:00stop, and when they were… Maybe it's 'cause it's well-lit, and I don't know.
- 1:25:06I don't know.
- 1:25:07Could be an inconsistency.
- 1:25:08I am not sure.
- 1:25:09Yeah.
- 1:25:09But if it is from truly if you stop and it's at night, yeah, I gotta have snacks.
- 1:25:19Yeah.
- 1:25:19Are you, like, do you preplan and have your snacks?
- 1:25:22Or is it something like you're driving and you're like, "Ah, that sounds good. That's
- 1:25:25what I need." Stop at the gas station and then just see where it takes me.
- 1:25:30Usually your- You know?
- 1:25:31… stop is for caffeine.
- 1:25:32Yeah, most of the time.
- 1:25:33That's your primary objective.
- 1:25:33Most time it's caffeine.
- 1:25:35And you find something else.
- 1:25:36And then my, my almost, probably my most consistent go-to is
- 1:25:39a strawberry cheese danish.
- 1:25:41Yeah.
- 1:25:42He likes a gas station pastry.
- 1:25:43Mm-hmm.
- 1:25:43Okay, like a- It comes- … hostess brand?
- 1:25:45The kind- No … that comes in the plastic package, the- Little bit
- 1:25:49higher quality than Hostess Oh, yeah, I guess Okay Yeah, it's a little
- 1:25:52bit more bougie A little Debbie?
- 1:25:53No, this is better than that.
- 1:25:55Okay.
- 1:25:56I gotta try these.
- 1:25:56I wish I knew what the, the brand was.
- 1:25:58I don't know.
- 1:25:58They have a lot- It's sad- … of different flavors … that I don't
- 1:26:00know- But I- … because I've probably eaten hundreds of them But
- 1:26:03you would know it when you saw it.
- 1:26:04Oh, yeah.
- 1:26:05You know the pies- So- … in the box?
- 1:26:06Yeah.
- 1:26:07The, like, microwave- Yeah … uh, fried pies?
- 1:26:10They're usually in that area.
- 1:26:11They're over next to those.
- 1:26:13But it's not those.
- 1:26:13But it's not.
- 1:26:14Yeah.
- 1:26:14It's better than that.
- 1:26:15Have you ever seen Scooby-Doo Monsters Island, or Spooky Island?
- 1:26:21I have not.
- 1:26:21Okay, it's amazing.
- 1:26:22It's a live action with Matthew Lillard as Shaggy, Freddie Prinze Jr.-
- 1:26:27Okay … Sarah Michelle Gellar, Linda Cardinelli, I think that's
- 1:26:30her name, Mr. Bean's in it.
- 1:26:32What?
- 1:26:33Yes.
- 1:26:33Okay.
- 1:26:34And, um- The actor or Mr. Bean?
- 1:26:36The actor.
- 1:26:37Okay.
- 1:26:37Yeah.
- 1:26:38Ro- Rowan Atkinson, I think is his name.
- 1:26:39Yes, it is.
- 1:26:40Yes.
- 1:26:40So they go to this island, and they're, like, trying to figure
- 1:26:42out, like, what's going on.
- 1:26:43They had been broken up, and then, like, all of them got, get, like,
- 1:26:46the same message from, like, Mr.
- 1:26:48Shondavire or something.
- 1:26:50It's Mr. Bean's character.
- 1:26:52And anyway, so there's, like, these creatures, like,
- 1:26:56roaming in the dark, whatever.
- 1:26:58And so they're at a nightclub, like, Shaggy and Scooby are, and he's, like,
- 1:27:03like, Scooby's just, like, chilling at the bar, and the bartender gets a call.
- 1:27:07And he's like, "I got a call for a Mr.
- 1:27:09Doo." And this guy's like, "Melvin?" And he's like, "Nah, Scooby." And
- 1:27:14so Scooby comes up, and he's like, "Hello?" And it's, like, this voice,
- 1:27:18and it's like, "I've got a bag of hamburgers out here in the woods." And
- 1:27:22he goes, "Hamburgers?" And so he gets, he gets lured out into the woods, and
- 1:27:29there's, like, this burlap sack with, like, a hamburger, like, a cardboard,
- 1:27:34like, sign that says, "Hamburgers," like, pointing down into the sack.
- 1:27:36And so he, like, puts his head in the sack, and this, this thing gets them.
- 1:27:40And so for you, I imagine- … that the steam would, would be like, "I
- 1:27:46got some strawberry cream cheese danishes." And you're like, "Where?"
- 1:27:53Oh, did you find a picture of them?
- 1:27:54Oh.
- 1:27:55Yeah.
- 1:27:55Those do look good.
- 1:27:56Those are delicious.
- 1:27:57They smell like… When he opens it up…
- 1:28:01What the heck are you doing?
- 1:28:02When he opens it up, it smells like- Bad Heaven?
- 1:28:08No.
- 1:28:08It smells like the, the plastic.
- 1:28:10It-- I feel like it would taste like it smells.
- 1:28:13Yes.
- 1:28:14Isn't that weird?
- 1:28:15Yeah.
- 1:28:15Yeah.
- 1:28:17I mean, I don't really know, 'cause he usually gets a flavor that I wouldn't be
- 1:28:20interested in- Yeah … trying at all.
- 1:28:23But it's just, I mean, I'm glad I'm not tempted by it, but- Good.
- 1:28:29Yeah.
- 1:28:30No, I just, it's not appealing to me at all, but he loves a cheese danish.
- 1:28:33Okay.
- 1:28:34I think the last, like, road trip snack that I craved, and for a
- 1:28:37second I was like, "Am I pregnant?" Was a strawberry Pop-Tart.
- 1:28:43Oh, interesting.
- 1:28:45And I don't eat Pop-Tarts.
- 1:28:47Not because I'm healthy, it's not.
- 1:28:48Yeah.
- 1:28:49But because they genuinely give me the worst acid reflux.
- 1:28:53Really?
- 1:28:54Oh, yeah.
- 1:28:55Yeah.
- 1:28:55I don't like Pop-Tart brand Pop-Tarts.
- 1:28:57I like the Great Value brand, cinnamon sugar- What?
- 1:29:00… only.
- 1:29:02Yeah.
- 1:29:02I'll have to try them.
- 1:29:03I remember, like, trying Great Value, and I was like, "These are
- 1:29:08trash." They're not as soft as the other ones- … as Pop-Tarts, but
- 1:29:13I feel like the filling is better.
- 1:29:14Pop-Tarts, to me, have a weird taste.
- 1:29:16But we did not ever… we had Pop-Tarts growing up in my house,
- 1:29:22and those were always the ones.
- 1:29:23We would never get name brand.
- 1:29:24Yeah.
- 1:29:24So it's also probably just what I grew up with- Yeah … that that's not the flavor
- 1:29:28that I remember- Mm-hmm … the real deal.
- 1:29:31So if I ever want a Pop-Tart, it's gonna be Great Value Walmart brand.
- 1:29:36All right, so this will be a fun segment.
- 1:29:38Monster smash or pass.
- 1:29:41I did have a smash.
- 1:29:43Okay.
- 1:29:44And I said, "This guy will chase you down. He really has a way of making
- 1:29:48you feel wanted, special, chosen." Yeah, that's what I s- I said.
- 1:29:53He will always pursue you.
- 1:29:57That's so funny.
- 1:29:58I mean, that's about it.
- 1:30:00That's all he's got going for him.
- 1:30:01Um- But he does also gaslight you because, you know- Yeah … she saw him on the
- 1:30:05camera, and then he, he was disappeared when- Like on the, on the- That's right
- 1:30:11in the- When he was in the passenger seat- Yeah … and she found, saw him
- 1:30:13on the camera, but then she tried to show him to Tyler- And you can't see
- 1:30:16him anymore … and he wasn't there, so I'm like, "Oh, gaslighter." Yeah.
- 1:30:19I said he an ugly bag.
- 1:30:23He's also a demon, so our worldviews don't align.
- 1:30:26Obviously.
- 1:30:26It- Yeah … it would not work out long term.
- 1:30:28No.
- 1:30:30Um- Um, he would ruin my perfect driving record.
- 1:30:33So right.
- 1:30:34Very expensive- Can't have that … on your insurance.
- 1:30:36Yeah.
- 1:30:37Can't have that.
- 1:30:38No.
- 1:30:39Can't afford to be in a relationship with this guy.
- 1:30:41No.
- 1:30:42Also, he's, like posing as a man of God, right?
- 1:30:45So he had, like the, the little thing on.
- 1:30:49I did think at one point- So I'm like-
- 1:30:50he looked like a, he looked like a, um, a minister or a- 'Cause
- 1:30:53yeah- … priest … that was part of the story, was that he was traveling
- 1:30:56with St. Christopher, and then St. Christopher realized, I can't remember
- 1:31:01how, something happened, and he realized he was not traveling with a man of God.
- 1:31:05Something happened.
- 1:31:06Oh.
- 1:31:06And something affected the guy negatively.
- 1:31:08Don't, don't remember that.
- 1:31:09Okay.
- 1:31:09And that was how, that's why St. Christopher can protect
- 1:31:14you from this thing, I guess.
- 1:31:15Oh, okay.
- 1:31:15Is because they used to travel together in the past.
- 1:31:20Oh.
- 1:31:21Until he found out, oh, that's a demon.
- 1:31:24I wonder what, like the sign was.
- 1:31:26I can't remember.
- 1:31:27They said it was part of the whole story, either where she
- 1:31:29found it online or Diane told her.
- 1:31:32Yeah.
- 1:31:32But I can't remember how she found that info.
- 1:31:34I think maybe she was reading it online.
- 1:31:36Okay.
- 1:31:37But I can't remember what the, the instance was.
- 1:31:39All right.
- 1:31:40So does it join the club?
- 1:31:42Absolutely.
- 1:31:42I would say absolutely.
- 1:31:44Yes.
- 1:31:44Yeah.
- 1:31:44Yeah.
- 1:31:44This was- Definitely one of, from my opinion, one of the
- 1:31:48better ones I've seen this year.
- 1:31:49Yeah.
- 1:31:50I agree.
- 1:31:51One of the better modern horror movies- Yeah
- 1:31:54I've seen in a while.
- 1:31:56Yeah.
- 1:31:56I feel like we get a lot of duds these days.
- 1:31:58Why is that?
- 1:31:58I feel like it's so hard to get a good movie because the good
- 1:32:01ideas are already out there.
- 1:32:02I think that, and also, we can talk about this probably during when
- 1:32:07we talk about Trick or Treat, but like, we're all so connected now.
- 1:32:12Cellphones and everything like that.
- 1:32:15Like, and cameras everywhere, and there are so many guardrails in place
- 1:32:20of, like, things that used to in a horror movie really, you were toast.
- 1:32:25Yeah.
- 1:32:25Because, like, they cut the phone line, the power's out,
- 1:32:28you're, you have no cell service.
- 1:32:30That doesn't happen a whole lot anymore.
- 1:32:32Like, so cellphones used to be so spotty, but they're really not like that anymore.
- 1:32:36So a lot of those common things that used to be in horror movies that would,
- 1:32:40you'd be stuck, I don't feel like those happen to us as much anymore.
- 1:32:44Yeah.
- 1:32:44And they're not as realistic.
- 1:32:45So it's, I feel like it's harder to put your modern characters in a situation
- 1:32:51where we don't think of a way out of it.
- 1:32:55Yeah.
- 1:32:56I would agree with that.
- 1:32:58But- No, I really liked this movie.
- 1:33:00I did, too.
- 1:33:01I'm glad that it's- I was really excited to chat about it, 'cause
- 1:33:04when we watched it, I was like, "Okay, this one was good." Yeah.
- 1:33:08I like, like I said, I was watching this one, like, home alone and- Ooh … I mean,
- 1:33:11with Jay, but, and I seriously, like, and there were a couple of things, like, out
- 1:33:17of the corner of my eye my mind was, like, trying to play tricks on me and, like,
- 1:33:20think that I was, like, seeing, like, someone, like, poke their head, like,
- 1:33:22on the other side of, like- Oh my gosh
- 1:33:23my hood here.
- 1:33:24And then at one point, like, I thought I heard, like, our screen
- 1:33:27door, like, kind of creak, and then I thought I I was just, my mind was
- 1:33:33just going absolutely crazy on me.
- 1:33:35Like, it sounded like one of my chairs out here, like, skirted against, like,
- 1:33:38the gr- Oh, no … like, on the ground.
- 1:33:40And I was, like, texting Alek.
- 1:33:43I was like, "When are you coming home? I'm so freaked out." Yeah.
- 1:33:46So I- Do you guys have outdoor lights?
- 1:33:47Like motion lights?
- 1:33:49Just in general, like- Yeah … around the perimeter?
- 1:33:51'Cause I think I would've, like- I don't know … closed up all of- All the blinds.
- 1:33:56Mm-hmm.
- 1:33:57Close every window.
- 1:33:59And put all the lights up outside.
- 1:34:01I don't know if that would… Yeah.
- 1:34:03So I closed these windows.
- 1:34:06These were shut.
- 1:34:07I never close these front ones, which I probably should.
- 1:34:09But I also, like, have this thought almost every time I
- 1:34:12close, like, a blind or something.
- 1:34:14I'm like, "What if he heard someone say, 'I can still see you'"?
- 1:34:17Like- Oh, no … I would die.
- 1:34:20And I think that.
- 1:34:21And, like, whenever we were looking for houses, I was like, "I can't wait to
- 1:34:23have a window in every single room." And now we do, and I'm like, "Eee, this is
- 1:34:28actually more spooky than I-" "… thought it'd have to be." Luckily, I, like,
- 1:34:33I would just die if that happened.
- 1:34:34Luckily, it hasn't yet, but or ever.
- 1:34:36It never will.
- 1:34:37No, it won't.
- 1:34:37I'll just, uh, turn my alarm onto home or press the panic button.
- 1:34:41Yeah, you have a lot of bicycle people out here and old folks where you live.
- 1:34:45So it's like the community itself is, I feel like you're pretty-
- 1:34:49Should be good … yeah, pretty safe.
- 1:34:53Oh, yeah.
- 1:34:53I mean- Knock on all the things.
- 1:34:55Yeah, knock on wood.
- 1:34:56So all right.
- 1:34:58Well, this was a fun episode.
- 1:34:59Um, we hope that you guys enjoyed.
- 1:35:01So next one that we will be doing is Trick or Treat just in time for Halloween.
