- 0:00Welcome to Financial Focus. Today we've got a
- 0:02major story coming out of the Dubai financial
- 0:05market. Oh? Yeah, the utility giant Diwa has
- 0:08announced a really substantial dividend payout
- 0:12for its shareholders. That's right, Aljaneb.
- 0:14This came out of their general assembly on April
- 0:172nd, 2026. Right. Diwa confirmed a dividend of
- 0:21$3 .1 billion AED just for the second half of
- 0:252025. This payout is all on the back of a truly
- 0:28record -breaking year for them. It certainly
- 0:31is. I mean, the decision was made at a meeting
- 0:34with over 91 percent of shareholders present.
- 0:36Wow. The chairman of the board, His Excellency
- 0:39Majid Hamad Rahma al -Shamsi, he really framed
- 0:43this success within the context of Dubai's broader
- 0:45economic strategy. He said, and I'm quoting here,
- 0:48thanks to the vision and directives of His Highness
- 0:51Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al -Maktoum. Okay.
- 1:06And then he says... This is underpinned by robust
- 1:09strategic planning, sound governance, and a strong
- 1:12ability to adapt to rapidly evolving global changes.
- 1:16And you can see that strong governance reflected
- 1:18directly in the numbers. The chairman also pointed
- 1:21out that Diwa's annual revenue climbed over 6
- 1:24% to nearly 33 billion AED. Right. And get this,
- 1:29the net profit surged by an incredible 25 % to
- 1:34over 9 billion AED. That profit? covers their
- 1:37entire annual dividend 1 .5 times over. The details
- 1:42get even more impressive. The MD and CEO, His
- 1:46Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al -Tayyar, gave a
- 1:49comprehensive look at what drove these results.
- 1:51Okay. He stated that 2025 was a significant milestone.
- 1:56Yeah. With the group recording for the first
- 1:58time ever unprecedented revenue of $32 .8 billion
- 2:02AED, EBITDA of $17 .3 billion, and an operating
- 2:07profit of nearly $11 billion AED. Wow. Their
- 2:11net profit after tax hit $9. 9 .06 billion AED.
- 2:15Right. And that covers their annual dividend
- 2:18of 6 .2 billion AED about 1 .5 times. He says
- 2:22the rapid growth in demand for their services
- 2:25really reflects the, you know, the growth of
- 2:27Dubai's economy. Makes sense. Electricity peak
- 2:30demand grew by 5 .8 percent and water daily peak
- 2:33demand increased by 7 percent. That's compared
- 2:36to the previous year. He said they continue to
- 2:39pursue higher levels of excellence, especially
- 2:41driving the green energy agenda and promoting
- 2:44Dubai's progress to net zero by 2050. For example,
- 2:48the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park,
- 2:50which had an original plan of 5 ,000 megawatts.
- 2:53Okay. It's now targeting a capacity of 8 ,000
- 2:57megawatts by 2030. Huge jump. And out of their
- 3:00total installed power capacity, clean energy
- 3:03was 21 .5 % at the end of 2025. Yeah. And they
- 3:07expect this to reach 36 % by 2030, which would
- 3:10avoid over 8 .5 million tons of carbon emissions
- 3:14annually. every single financial metric back
- 3:19to real -world growth and those sustainability
- 3:21goals. It is. It's not just about profit. It's
- 3:25about powering Dubai's expansion and its green
- 3:28transition all at the same time. And he also
- 3:31highlighted their world -class efficiency. Yeah,
- 3:34tell me about that. Electricity line loss is
- 3:37at just 2%, and customer outage time is less
- 3:40than a minute per year. That is a clear sign
- 3:43of a highly optimized, very modern operation.
- 3:46And the CEO concluded with a really powerful,
- 3:49forward -looking statement. He said, and I'm
- 3:52quoting here, I am confident that the group will
- 3:55maintain its global reputation and achieve more
- 3:58technical distinctions and generate outstanding
- 4:01financial results that meet and exceed the expectations
- 4:04of all valued stakeholders. It's a really compelling
- 4:07narrative, isn't it? Financial strength, operational
- 4:10dominance, and a firm commitment to a sustainable
- 4:13future. Absolutely. So now, here's a question
- 4:17we'd like you to think about. As Diwa continues
- 4:19to expand its renewable energy capacity for Dubai's
- 4:22growth, what new innovations will be necessary
- 4:25to maintain that world -leading grid stability
- 4:28and efficiency?
