- 0:12Speaker 1: password to the seasoning cabinet, just a job hades, World
- 0:23Speaker 1: Cup moment that made Melissa cry. We're going to ask
- 0:26Speaker 1: if Candas Owens maybe might be making a point every
- 0:29Speaker 1: now and then we're going to talk about the reflecting
- 0:32Speaker 1: pool drama, World Cup tourists, discovering American junk food, the
- 0:36Speaker 1: Luigi Mangione trial, and all the twists and turns and
- 0:40Speaker 1: recent updates which changed in the middle of my sentence,
- 0:44Speaker 1: I know, right. And we're going to answer all your
- 0:47Speaker 1: questions from the d ms and also talk a lot
- 0:50Speaker 1: about inner monologues and food.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Don't we have a long talk about food?
- 0:53Speaker 1: No, I think you're just hungry. Got your Is that
- 1:01Speaker 1: a gem?
- 1:01Speaker 2: No?
- 1:01Speaker 1: It's a horse crux? What's your birdstone horn? Crooks? I'm
- 1:09Speaker 1: happy June teenth?
- 1:11Speaker 2: Oh yeah, just passed. How was your first you got in?
- 1:16Speaker 2: Michael got invited, baby, first, he got invited by a
- 1:22Speaker 2: black person that's not me. So he's got another black.
- 1:25Speaker 1: There's another another one, a second black friend has entered
- 1:28Speaker 1: the chat, and I will say.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Michael, you were invited to the cookout.
- 1:34Speaker 1: We are Okay, so white people at home, I'm gonna,
- 1:38Speaker 1: I'm gonna look at cameras one, two, and three. We're
- 1:42Speaker 1: not seasoning our food, guys, we are not even we
- 1:46Speaker 1: haven't even begun to open the seasoning cap.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Okay, well let me. I'm gonna because.
- 1:51Speaker 1: I knew we weren't seasoning our food that well. Okay,
- 1:54Speaker 1: I think of myself as a pretty good cook.
- 1:55Speaker 2: You're a good baker. Thank you, Thank you for the correction.
- 2:00Speaker 2: You're no, no, no, no, no what. I'm sorry. I actually didn't
- 2:05Speaker 2: mean it like that. I have never had food from you.
- 2:10Speaker 2: I have baked goods, so I feel like if you
- 2:15Speaker 2: are a good baker, you could probably be a good cook.
- 2:18Speaker 1: White people were not even like scratching the surface with
- 2:22Speaker 1: the seasonings. I know that, and like and and it's
- 2:25Speaker 1: not I know it's really preaching to the choir here.
- 2:27Speaker 2: But I remember one time you told me.
- 2:32Speaker 1: I was reading you Martha Stewart recipe.
- 2:34Speaker 2: I was like, what is that? She was like the fuck?
- 2:38Speaker 1: I was like, listen to this and it had I
- 2:40Speaker 1: think one ingredient this season was like.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Like I think I remember once you were talking about
- 2:48Speaker 2: how how you were going to make Thanksgiving a turkey, yes,
- 2:56Speaker 2: And I was like, what what are you going to
- 3:01Speaker 2: put it in the turkey? And I hurt a lot
- 3:03Speaker 2: of salt and pepper immediately shut down because I I
- 3:10Speaker 2: and I'm going to say this, and I know people
- 3:12Speaker 2: are gonna come at me, and I'm telling you right now,
- 3:15Speaker 2: I don't care. I'm not going to take recipe recommendation
- 3:23Speaker 2: your person wash their chicken.
- 3:25Speaker 1: I washed my chicken? Do you? But because you told
- 3:27Speaker 1: me to, And it's because I didn't know. I didn't know.
- 3:30Speaker 2: And now that I know, I'm like, I.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Need to wash this chicken immediately. And I know that
- 3:34Speaker 1: this is a lot of people say you don't need to,
- 3:36Speaker 1: but I do now. And I notice a difference.
- 3:38Speaker 2: And let me tell you, you may not need to
- 3:41Speaker 2: wash your chicken. Yeah, need to wash.
- 3:44Speaker 1: My It's like and now I feel like if I'm
- 3:47Speaker 1: making chicken and I don't wash it, it's like you
- 3:49Speaker 1: don't wash your hands. It's like you haven't washed your
- 3:51Speaker 1: hands before cooking. And that may work for you, it
- 3:56Speaker 1: doesn't work for me or not anymore. Yeah, And it's
- 4:00Speaker 1: something I simply cannot abide.
- 4:03Speaker 2: So what did you eat to make you feel like
- 4:07Speaker 2: you don't season your food? I love this so much.
- 4:10Speaker 2: By the way, this is so like, it's like vindication.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Macaroni salad. Macaroni doesn't have to be the main ingredient
- 4:18Speaker 1: is something I learned, like the dressing and all the
- 4:21Speaker 1: other things that go in, like it can be equal parts. Okay,
- 4:25Speaker 1: so growing up, macaroni salad for me, it was almost dry.
- 4:30Speaker 1: There was so little seasoning dressing on it. And listen,
- 4:34Speaker 1: and the other thing is that I love all these
- 4:36Speaker 1: foods and I will start cooking them for myself and
- 4:39Speaker 1: I will start seasoning my things more. Okay, but I
- 4:42Speaker 1: can't show up to Thanksgiving with Chipotle flavored turkey because
- 4:47Speaker 1: my people will riot. My people won't abide.
- 4:54Speaker 2: I'm going to make you some green seasoning. I'm going
- 4:58Speaker 2: to make you some.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Green sea doing this like it's to make a wish foundation.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Because because you're my favorite blood is my favorite blood,
- 5:07Speaker 2: and I'm going to do this. I'm going to make
- 5:09Speaker 2: you some green season.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Can I ask a really stupid question, what's in the
- 5:12Speaker 1: green season?
- 5:15Speaker 2: So I know Hatian people have green season and Dominicans
- 5:18Speaker 2: have green seasoning. They also have like a red one.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Jamaicans do it is it goes in almost everything, right,
- 5:26Speaker 2: So depending on where you are from, it's green because
- 5:31Speaker 2: there is parsley, there's green pepper. It's try No, it
- 5:36Speaker 2: is not. It's wet.
- 5:38Speaker 1: That's the other thing is most seasonings aren't dry, you guys.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Another thing I learned, like it doesn't always have to
- 5:47Speaker 1: be a dry seasoning. I know, it's amazing the things
- 5:51Speaker 1: you learn.
- 5:52Speaker 2: Really, I'm really so proud of you. It's like it's
- 5:56Speaker 2: like you and Amari.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Took the subway for the first time.
- 6:02Speaker 2: I can't they're not gonna let me show the picture.
- 6:04Speaker 2: But my nephew took. He's a year old and he
- 6:08Speaker 2: took the subway for the first time. And I don't
- 6:11Speaker 2: know if you saw. There's this woman I want to say.
- 6:14Speaker 2: She's Lebanese and it was her daughter lives in New
- 6:19Speaker 2: York and her mother had never been on the subway before.
- 6:22Speaker 2: And her mother is this beautiful elegance. Did you see this?
- 6:26Speaker 2: And she got on the train and she was horrified.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Mari looks dilike, but I mean.
- 6:36Speaker 1: But I don't touch anything.
- 6:37Speaker 2: She was like and she was like holding on to
- 6:40Speaker 2: her husband or this man that she was with death
- 6:43Speaker 2: Grip and Mary was looking around like, I.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Don't think so, honey, this is some bullshit. This doesn't
- 6:48Speaker 1: work for me.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Not at all. So anyway, you can.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Make his face pretty well, you know.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Can I tell you what's really funny? Like I am
- 6:59Speaker 2: I When I don't listen to our show, I watch
- 7:02Speaker 2: our show on you Okay, So I make the same
- 7:07Speaker 2: faces all the time, Like it's really interesting to because
- 7:11Speaker 2: you don't see your face when you're talking to somebody,
- 7:13Speaker 2: but when you're watching it, you see it. And then
- 7:14Speaker 2: there are pictures of me as a young child. I've
- 7:18Speaker 2: been making that face very yeah.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Yeah, and it so funny. It's the is it a
- 7:24Speaker 1: nature versus nurture? I don't know the sassy little faces
- 7:28Speaker 1: we make. Let's get into a sidebar, sassy little faces
- 7:33Speaker 1: with Magdalen, with Magalie.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Yeah, my mom makes sassy little faces. My mom used
- 7:37Speaker 2: to be a teacher and her her colleague would say
- 7:42Speaker 2: they always knew when missus Malbranch did not like something,
- 7:45Speaker 2: because my mother would just be like in a meeting,
- 7:47Speaker 2: being like I love.
- 7:49Speaker 1: When people do that. Though, I had a client making
- 7:52Speaker 1: faces in court like that, and I had to be
- 7:54Speaker 1: like you better stop.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Do you remember this? A million years ago? Michael Jackson
- 8:00Speaker 2: and went on trial and E did a reenactment.
- 8:06Speaker 1: No, I didn't know this just when I.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Sent it to you, But he did this reenactment where
- 8:10Speaker 2: there was an actor playing Michael Jackson.
- 8:14Speaker 1: What that sounds like some crazy ninety shit to early
- 8:17Speaker 1: two thousand, two thousands, early two thousands, E was out
- 8:21Speaker 1: of pocket.
- 8:23Speaker 2: At one point, the anchors on E were sitting on
- 8:26Speaker 2: these giant loose sight ease excuse me, and they had
- 8:31Speaker 2: fish inside tank.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Cj Gt. Peta on the phone.
- 8:36Speaker 2: I don't know that they were real fish, to be fair,
- 8:38Speaker 2: to be fair, I actually don't think that they were.
- 8:40Speaker 1: There was this drag queen who used to have boobies
- 8:42Speaker 1: that were fish bowls and there were live fish, goldfish inside,
- 8:46Speaker 1: and she attached them to her gita. I don't know,
- 8:48Speaker 1: but Peter came for her and she's not in business anymore.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Wow. They ran her out of town.
- 8:53Speaker 1: And the nineties were wild in New York. Really, Hell's
- 8:55Speaker 1: Kitchen was Hell. It was Hell. It was Selicia.
- 9:00Speaker 2: So the Michael Jackson, they will was the space. So
- 9:03Speaker 2: people were accusing him of these terrible things and he
- 9:06Speaker 2: was just like it was like, so you're trying to
- 9:12Speaker 2: tell me that the actual Michael Jackson was doing that in.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Court because no, way, just got the photo I've got.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Oh he was an actor. That's the actor. That's the command, don't.
- 9:27Speaker 1: I mean the face changed a lot, it did, but
- 9:29Speaker 1: that is a pixelated photo. But it's also that's definitely
- 9:32Speaker 1: not him. But that's a pretty good looking actor. I
- 9:35Speaker 1: mean it looks pretty close the actor is. Yeah, I
- 9:37Speaker 1: want to know what other what were the other credits?
- 9:41Speaker 1: What else was the sactor in Fried Green Tomatoes? Like,
- 9:46Speaker 1: what else is the soctor doing?
- 9:48Speaker 2: I don't know, I don't know, but yeah, this guy
- 9:52Speaker 2: was eye rolling, making I rolling and making a little crazy.
- 9:56Speaker 1: I love Michael Jackson clips because he really didn't give
- 9:59Speaker 1: a shit out a certa in point or maybe the
- 10:01Speaker 1: whole time, because the one clip of him saying I
- 10:05Speaker 1: hate touring, I go through hell on. I love that
- 10:08Speaker 1: actually when they're like could you just do a positive.
- 10:10Speaker 2: It's just like I love it.
- 10:13Speaker 1: I love to tour. It is something CJ would say
- 10:18Speaker 1: to us. It's like, hey, can you not be.
- 10:20Speaker 2: So the other day we were talking about like when
- 10:23Speaker 2: do you cry?
- 10:24Speaker 1: Right?
- 10:25Speaker 2: Oh yeah, Okay, so I cried this weekend and I'm
- 10:27Speaker 2: gonna tell you why.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Okay, so yeah, tell me.
- 10:30Speaker 2: So. Uh, Haiti played Brazil this weekend and just really quickly,
- 10:37Speaker 2: Haitian people, when they're not rooting for themselves, they're rooting
- 10:40Speaker 2: for Brazil.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Like, oh, I don't know that.
- 10:43Speaker 2: No, I know a lot of people don't know that,
- 10:44Speaker 2: but Haitian people love to root for Brazil. So there
- 10:48Speaker 2: was almost like this thing like our people. Are the
- 10:49Speaker 2: Haitian folks gonna like both are they going to root
- 10:52Speaker 2: for themselves? They're going to root for Brazil obviously Haiti.
- 10:57Speaker 2: But I was watching when they referraled that giant Haitian
- 11:02Speaker 2: flag and the Haitian national anthem came on, and I
- 11:08Speaker 2: have been practicing, so I stood up in my home
- 11:12Speaker 2: and I sang my little song and it was this
- 11:18Speaker 2: very emotional reaction that I had. For a couple of reasons,
- 11:23Speaker 2: like I've said a million times, Haiti really needed this
- 11:27Speaker 2: to be on the world stage. I mean, I think
- 11:29Speaker 2: there's something like one hundred and twelve countries that are
- 11:31Speaker 2: eligible to be in the World Cup, maybe more, and
- 11:35Speaker 2: like forty six get in. Wow, So that's not that
- 11:39Speaker 2: many and Haiti was the only country from the Caribbean,
- 11:43Speaker 2: and this is all coming from a country that has
- 11:45Speaker 2: had a really, really difficult time. So there was this
- 11:49Speaker 2: huge especially yes the past couple of years and we
- 11:53Speaker 2: haven't been there in over fifty years, and the just
- 11:56Speaker 2: to see it was I was so full of and
- 12:00Speaker 2: again thinking about my dad and how he would have
- 12:04Speaker 2: absolutely lost his ship. So I shed a tier or two.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Were you at you were at home at home? Because
- 12:10Speaker 1: when I was talking to you on.
- 12:12Speaker 2: Watch party and you didn't go, we didn't go.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Andre was all dressed up.
- 12:16Speaker 2: I will pull up a photo. Andre was all. I
- 12:19Speaker 2: got him to wear a headband. Yeah, not to go.
- 12:22Speaker 2: We went to a Juneteenth party and then I was.
- 12:25Speaker 1: Like, yeah, I was at a bar in Brooklyn. I
- 12:29Speaker 1: got kind of lost on the way to a gay
- 12:31Speaker 1: bar and ended up in a sports bar playing pool
- 12:33Speaker 1: with this guy named Tulio. Just met him. Okay, he
- 12:36Speaker 1: was great, absolutely smoked me in a game of pool.
- 12:38Speaker 2: I was going to say, do you play pool?
- 12:40Speaker 1: But the game was on and so I was able
- 12:42Speaker 1: to sort of.
- 12:43Speaker 2: I mean, we got trounced, slaughtered, slaughtered, but honestly, it's okay, Brazil,
- 12:53Speaker 2: is you don't know. Brazil is a country that they
- 12:56Speaker 2: sort of eat, breathed, drink. Yes, yeh, football from They're
- 13:00Speaker 2: playing it everywhere, so it is you know, it's it
- 13:05Speaker 2: sucks that we lost so badly, but but we were
- 13:10Speaker 2: I mean, we made it to the World Cup, which
- 13:11Speaker 2: is a really big deal.
- 13:16Speaker 1: We can get into your algorithm is showing and we
- 13:18Speaker 1: can talk about this actually what we're doing it now, Yeah,
- 13:22Speaker 1: let's do it. It's Pride month. Get into algorithm.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Speaking of Pride month. Right, So there's.
- 13:28Speaker 1: I get to shoot a straight person. We're in the
- 13:31Speaker 1: face anywhere I want. That's the what kind of It's mum,
- 13:34Speaker 1: Donnie's New York and people are allowed to shoot straight
- 13:39Speaker 1: people for one for Pride weekend. It's the new role.
- 13:42Speaker 2: All right, Well, I guess I'll stay home.
- 13:45Speaker 1: That my mayor's.
- 13:50Speaker 2: My mayor is Muslim. My bagels are Jewish. So there
- 14:00Speaker 2: was this doctor I wish, I hope I can find it.
- 14:02Speaker 2: And again there is a doctor who was performing a
- 14:07Speaker 2: foot shortening surgery on a trans person, on a trans woman.
- 14:12Speaker 2: But I have so many questions about this short in general. Right,
- 14:17Speaker 2: trans aside doesn't matter, that's not it. But like the idea,
- 14:21Speaker 2: and what the doctor said was that she wanted to
- 14:26Speaker 2: be able to wear more fashionable shoes. I can, you know,
- 14:30Speaker 2: I get it, but I feel like and somebody please
- 14:35Speaker 2: correct me if I'm wrong. The size of your feet
- 14:39Speaker 2: does it also sort of support your body? Right? So
- 14:44Speaker 2: this person because they had pretty big feet, right, So
- 14:48Speaker 2: this person is probably a tall, broad person. And now
- 14:53Speaker 2: they've shortened their feet and their toes, but they haven't
- 14:58Speaker 2: narrowed the foot.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Is this a I've never heard of this procedure? This
- 15:02Speaker 1: makes me I had.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Never heard of it either, but just because we never
- 15:06Speaker 2: heard of it, I know, but I had also never
- 15:09Speaker 2: seen it, and I was so like curious, slash worried,
- 15:15Speaker 2: like I am legitimately worried that. Now, let's like like
- 15:17Speaker 2: to say it was you for example.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Yeah, am I going to be top one over right?
- 15:21Speaker 1: Because I'm six four and I've got smaller feet now
- 15:24Speaker 1: their size thirteen for a reason.
- 15:26Speaker 2: To support the rest of it.
- 15:27Speaker 1: When I broke my feet, Melissa, don't laugh. Yes, I
- 15:32Speaker 1: broke both my feet during the pandemic, and my last
- 15:35Speaker 1: name is foot right, But it was.
- 15:36Speaker 2: It was not just that, it was it was you
- 15:39Speaker 2: broke one and I was like, oh no, you okay,
- 15:43Speaker 2: and then he promptly broke the other one, and I
- 15:46Speaker 2: was her pity was used up on the first Mikey feet.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Mikey Feet broke his feet.
- 15:52Speaker 1: And we were like double masking meeting up for outdoor coffee.
- 15:57Speaker 1: Like it was like the craziest one.
- 16:00Speaker 2: How did you break one foot and then immediately.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Break It's like, how did Alissa get three concussions in
- 16:04Speaker 1: a year? I don't know.
- 16:07Speaker 2: These are things again, it's like the drugs. These are
- 16:09Speaker 2: things that don't happen.
- 16:10Speaker 1: Also, it's like you hang out with stupid people, you
- 16:11Speaker 1: get stupid. Like, what does it say about you that
- 16:13Speaker 1: you're hanging out with me with two broke feet and
- 16:15Speaker 1: Alissa can't see straight? What does that say about you? Girl?
- 16:22Speaker 2: You're trying to mother you. Guys, I'm trying to lead
- 16:24Speaker 2: you the right way about you that I'm helpful.
- 16:28Speaker 1: You got to make me green saze seasoning to.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Make green season chicken. Yeah, man, But yeah, I'm actually
- 16:39Speaker 2: really curious about this and I don't know what the
- 16:41Speaker 2: surgery is called, but it made me I.
- 16:47Speaker 1: Just I mean, I worry about everyone on the internet.
- 16:49Speaker 1: It's not about the trance of it. All it's about,
- 16:52Speaker 1: like you're worried about this person falling over in front
- 16:54Speaker 1: of it.
- 16:54Speaker 2: Yeah, but I mean I also so this woman who
- 16:57Speaker 2: wanted blue eyes and she got certain and they don't
- 17:02Speaker 2: look right. They don't look.
- 17:04Speaker 1: They're looking like Erica Kirk looking like laser beats.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Right, And I'm wondering what is the impact of vision
- 17:13Speaker 2: at some point?
- 17:14Speaker 1: Anyways, see jam, I'm sorry, we're just gonna skip this
- 17:17Speaker 1: whole page because we have to talk about Eric Kirk.
- 17:21Speaker 2: What about her?
- 17:21Speaker 1: Candace Owen's foot is on Erica Kirk's neck. Are you
- 17:24Speaker 1: seeing these videos? They're all over my feed? She's like,
- 17:27Speaker 1: she's like, why is Erica Kirk doing a bridle shoot
- 17:30Speaker 1: before the app?
- 17:34Speaker 2: Here's Erica before the White House? Corresponds center he's taking
- 17:37Speaker 2: bridle shots or something. That was that part was weird. No,
- 17:39Speaker 2: nobody's talking about that enough. That was weird.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Well, spiff out her water. It's like her in a
- 17:46Speaker 1: veil behind a curtain, Like it's the weirdest.
- 17:49Speaker 2: She's already she promised.
- 17:51Speaker 1: She's like in a curtain. It's like so weird. She
- 17:56Speaker 1: and Candas Owen's just like, am I going crazy here?
- 17:59Speaker 1: And I'm obviously they're not going to agree with her.
- 18:01Speaker 2: And that's the thing, right, I really hate it when
- 18:03Speaker 2: somebody like Candace Owen is making me be like, yeah,
- 18:05Speaker 2: she got them, like.
- 18:07Speaker 1: With Omrosa, where like she's got a few, she's got
- 18:11Speaker 1: a few good points, right.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Like it's like that time that Tucker crasls I was like,
- 18:17Speaker 2: where am I in life? That Tucker Crasson is making
- 18:20Speaker 2: sense to me? What the fuck is going on?
- 18:22Speaker 1: Broken clock is right twice a day. That's trying sometimes
- 18:27Speaker 1: Sometimes Candae Owen, she's kind of she's kind of got
- 18:30Speaker 1: a point sometimes. So this is one of those.
- 18:32Speaker 2: More where are we in line? This is what's happened
- 18:35Speaker 2: that's wrong.
- 18:35Speaker 1: With my algorithm? Where it's like ultra progressive liberal video
- 18:39Speaker 1: of Candace Owen's dunking americ I just you know what.
- 18:42Speaker 2: I think though, I just think it just goes to
- 18:44Speaker 2: show you how completely off the rails this administration has become,
- 18:50Speaker 2: you know, has become even to the people who were
- 18:52Speaker 2: their staunch supporter that they're just like, yeah, you're out
- 18:56Speaker 2: here paying sixteen million dollars to fix your fucking pool
- 19:00Speaker 2: reflection pool.
- 19:01Speaker 1: I think, okay, I have a theory the reflection pool
- 19:03Speaker 1: is like the perfect example of like American corporate dysfunction,
- 19:09Speaker 1: like continue organizations with leaders just like doing things that
- 19:16Speaker 1: waste a bunch of money that had they just done nothing,
- 19:20Speaker 1: it would have been more profitable, you know what I mean.
- 19:22Speaker 1: It's like the perfect example of like the AI argument
- 19:25Speaker 1: in all of these companies that are like, let's try
- 19:28Speaker 1: this a I think we're going to invest fifty million
- 19:30Speaker 1: dollars into it, and then it ends up losing one
- 19:33Speaker 1: hundred million dollars. And it's like if you did nothing,
- 19:35Speaker 1: you would have made or like.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Just sort of like slowly like it's I think the
- 19:41Speaker 2: problem is also like the rush, right, everyone's trying to
- 19:44Speaker 2: be first, everyone's trying to be fast, but fast it
- 19:47Speaker 2: is not in many In many instances, faster is not
- 19:54Speaker 2: always better, folks. That's that's all.
- 19:59Speaker 1: That's Melissa's p put that on her mug. I'm just saying,
- 20:04Speaker 1: it's the race to the bottom of the reflection pool.
- 20:09Speaker 2: See where we are in the timeline of life.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Why did we do the reflection pool in the first place.
- 20:14Speaker 1: I actually forget, why is it there? What is happening? No,
- 20:18Speaker 1: it's always been, it's always been there. But what did
- 20:20Speaker 1: he do to it? He died it blue? What was
- 20:24Speaker 1: like the what was the.
- 20:26Speaker 2: Why did he That's a really good question.
- 20:28Speaker 3: Yeah, so Obama install these filters in twenty twelve because
- 20:32Speaker 3: it started to grow algae, and he was like, basically
- 20:35Speaker 3: like I want to rip out what Obama did and
- 20:36Speaker 3: do my own thing. So he originally was going to
- 20:39Speaker 3: rip out those filters painted blue and like put this
- 20:43Speaker 3: new lining down.
- 20:44Speaker 1: It's like when they died the river for Saint Patrick's
- 20:47Speaker 1: Day green in Chicago.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Yeah, totally random. Did you see how the Scotts have
- 20:53Speaker 2: drunk all the beer Sam sam Adams Brewery ran out
- 20:59Speaker 2: of I love that. I love that so much. And
- 21:05Speaker 2: it just feels like the folks from Scotland are having
- 21:07Speaker 2: the best time. And I saw them dancing with a
- 21:09Speaker 2: bunch of Haitians.
- 21:10Speaker 1: It was I saw a guy crying because he was
- 21:14Speaker 1: on his way to the airport to leave to go
- 21:16Speaker 1: back to Scotland and he had the taxi driver turn
- 21:19Speaker 1: around and take him back to Boston.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Yeah, a cap went to the airport to go home
- 21:27Speaker 2: and going home and they've discovered they discovered ranch dressing.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Yes, I absolutely love ranch.
- 21:36Speaker 2: I don't you don't I do not care for a ranch.
- 21:39Speaker 1: A little fat kid inside me that was denied ranch
- 21:42Speaker 1: growing up.
- 21:43Speaker 2: I just don't like that. Yeah, I've tried to.
- 21:46Speaker 1: Like you don't like Is it the dill?
- 21:48Speaker 2: No? I like deal by my coke. I think that
- 21:53Speaker 2: I don't like ranch. I also don't like Green Goddess.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Really, Oh, I guess Green Goddess is just like greener ranch.
- 22:00Speaker 1: Green Goddess is like ranch for Gwyneth Paltrow, you know
- 22:04Speaker 1: what I mean. Like it's for like the goop set. Right.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Maybe it's like what white girls who do yoga and
- 22:11Speaker 1: pilates give themselves when they want ranch.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Green Goddess. Why is it lower calorie?
- 22:17Speaker 1: They tell themselves it is, but it isn't. It's green.
- 22:20Speaker 2: So they're lying to themselves.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Like when we die the river in Chicago for Saint
- 22:24Speaker 1: Patrick's Day, it's the same thing. What's it's just ranch
- 22:31Speaker 1: dyed green? Okay, that's what I think.
- 22:34Speaker 2: I think they taste different, and I don't like either one.
- 22:37Speaker 2: I think you know what it is. It's the mayonnaise.
- 22:39Speaker 1: You don't like any mayonnaise.
- 22:40Speaker 2: I don't know. I do like some mayonnaise. It's weird,
- 22:44Speaker 2: but like, but I think there's too much mayonnaise in it,
- 22:47Speaker 2: Like it's mostly mayonnaise what I like to do.
- 22:49Speaker 1: So I get like a ranch from my farm share,
- 22:53Speaker 1: and it's like really good homemade ranch. I do that,
- 22:56Speaker 1: but then I do a little vinaigrette, olive oil and
- 22:59Speaker 1: water in my cut in. Just like the salad. I
- 23:02Speaker 1: always put a little bit of warm water in my
- 23:04Speaker 1: salad because it just I don't like an icy cold salad.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Okay, I can see.
- 23:09Speaker 1: It burning my teeth. Sure, I hate that. I like
- 23:12Speaker 1: a room temperature salad. And oftentimes the lettuce is in
- 23:15Speaker 1: the fridge, so I want to like warm it up
- 23:17Speaker 1: a little bit with a little warm water. So I'll
- 23:19Speaker 1: throw that in and then I dress it. And then
- 23:22Speaker 1: I sort of thin out the ranch with either a
- 23:25Speaker 1: vinaigrette or an olive oil or a little extra water
- 23:27Speaker 1: or something just to kind of like loosen it. Otherwise
- 23:30Speaker 1: it's like clumps of dressing.
- 23:32Speaker 2: Maybe that's what I don't like.
- 23:33Speaker 1: I want it to be.
- 23:35Speaker 2: I don't like blue cheese dressing.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I want it to be like a more water
- 23:38Speaker 1: consistency blue cheese you don't like. Maybe I'm just like
- 23:41Speaker 1: a big back because I love all those creamy dressings
- 23:45Speaker 1: An Islands.
- 23:46Speaker 2: I like thousand, I love Russian.
- 23:48Speaker 1: A Long Island salad bar from the nineties. I want
- 23:52Speaker 1: that's what I want.
- 23:54Speaker 2: The bacon bits.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Yes, that's the salad I want. Give me that wedge that.
- 23:59Speaker 2: I you know, the iceberg wedge well also doesn't well,
- 24:04Speaker 2: I guess if you don't open it, it doesn't need to
- 24:06Speaker 2: be refrigerated. See anything like that, And that's.
- 24:11Speaker 1: A little nervous.
- 24:12Speaker 2: I don't love these that are too like shelf stable,
- 24:16Speaker 2: like Twinkies, Like this is just too much.
- 24:19Speaker 1: There's this one video of a woman. She's like, this
- 24:22Speaker 1: guy's like from Ireland and he needs one dessert?
- 24:25Speaker 2: Is it the black guy? And he's Irish and it's
- 24:27Speaker 2: another black woman. She was like, oh my god, they've
- 24:29Speaker 2: got us out there too. Did you see this? And
- 24:32Speaker 2: she's helping him with the snacks and she's like a
- 24:35Speaker 2: top tier snack person.
- 24:36Speaker 1: She was like giving me ideas on that.
- 24:38Speaker 2: I know I was. There was something that she said.
- 24:40Speaker 2: I was like, I'm gonna try that. What the hell
- 24:42Speaker 2: was it?
- 24:43Speaker 1: Was it the honeybuns with butter maybe? And then the
- 24:46Speaker 1: woman doesn't jok. So for people who have no idea.
- 24:48Speaker 2: What return and this older white woman in a moon
- 24:50Speaker 2: who comes by and throws another suggestion.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Now she was great, guys, just so you understand what
- 24:55Speaker 1: the hell we're talking about. For the World Cup, there
- 24:57Speaker 1: are people from all around the world in America right now,
- 25:00Speaker 1: and they're being exposed to the unregulated, high processed foods
- 25:05Speaker 1: in America, all the red dyes, all over TikTok and Instagram.
- 25:09Speaker 1: There are videos of people trying to find the best
- 25:12Speaker 1: snacks in America. And this black man from Ireland found
- 25:15Speaker 1: a black woman presumptively in the American South.
- 25:19Speaker 2: I don't, yeah, I don't, I don't know.
- 25:20Speaker 1: It was Texas, and she was giving honeybuns and hostess
- 25:27Speaker 1: snacks and cookies. Uh, and it was just all these
- 25:33Speaker 1: things this lovely irishman had never seen before. The chest
- 25:36Speaker 1: cookies with.
- 25:39Speaker 2: Es.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Yeah you don't like bana, I don't like manas.
- 25:44Speaker 2: But yeah, but the best was the other part of
- 25:46Speaker 2: that was like the old lady who was walking by
- 25:48Speaker 2: and like threw out a suggestion, like.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Someone charts pop tarts with no frosting.
- 25:53Speaker 2: And fry them in butter, is what she said.
- 25:56Speaker 1: And then in the com I went to the commons,
- 25:57Speaker 1: you know, what someone said, that's my mother in law. Literally,
- 26:03Speaker 1: they were like, oh my god.
- 26:05Speaker 2: But I just wonder where are you, Like, what's going
- 26:07Speaker 2: on in your life that you're like, you know what
- 26:09Speaker 2: I'm going to try, I'm going to fry a pop tart.
- 26:11Speaker 1: Well. I want to know, is what's going on in
- 26:12Speaker 1: these countries? Do they not have incredible snacks?
- 26:15Speaker 2: Different snacks?
- 26:17Speaker 1: Based off these videos, they make it seem like the
- 26:19Speaker 1: UK is like what you see on Game of Thrones. No,
- 26:22Speaker 1: like that's the culinary experience is the feast.
- 26:26Speaker 2: And I will say the best food that I had
- 26:28Speaker 2: in the UK was not British food. It was like
- 26:30Speaker 2: Indian food, and Indian.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Food in the UK is incredible. Yeah, I mean British
- 26:35Speaker 1: food is. I think I think even British people would
- 26:40Speaker 1: agree with us that it's bad.
- 26:41Speaker 2: It's not good, It's not terrific.
- 26:44Speaker 1: If you have to describe the side dish as mushy,
- 26:47Speaker 1: I'm out of here. I'm out of here. I'm self deporting.
- 26:50Speaker 2: I've never had mushy peas and I wonder, no, no,
- 26:54Speaker 2: could it be good?
- 26:55Speaker 1: No? Because they're just overcooked?
- 26:58Speaker 2: Is it just the peas?
- 27:00Speaker 1: No?
- 27:00Speaker 2: Season? But we did talk about you people, have no
- 27:03Speaker 2: seasons people. I wonder if the mushy pea's I'm gonna
- 27:09Speaker 2: look for a recipe of mushy peas and see their
- 27:11Speaker 2: seasoning and the mushy peas it.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Was just butter and probably salt. Okay, no pepper, no pepper,
- 27:17Speaker 1: probably not.
- 27:18Speaker 2: There's this There are these two British guys. There are
- 27:23Speaker 2: these two British guys that have They go around the
- 27:26Speaker 2: United States eating things and they're always like, I forget
- 27:29Speaker 2: what they're called. I think the thing is called jolly whatever.
- 27:33Speaker 2: And they also take American food back to Like these
- 27:37Speaker 2: British boys in school and they're so cute right therese
- 27:41Speaker 2: like sort of high school ish type boys, and they're
- 27:44Speaker 2: wearing like their suits and they're just like and there
- 27:46Speaker 2: was one kid who was eating something and he got
- 27:48Speaker 2: all red in the face and he was just like,
- 27:50Speaker 2: there's a lot of pepper. He was just like, I
- 27:57Speaker 2: can't with the pepper. Liked watering up, watering eyes, and
- 28:01Speaker 2: he was just like, there's a lot of pepper in this.
- 28:03Speaker 2: They're so cute and they're just like, oh, that's like
- 28:06Speaker 2: they're eating like barbecue. They're like, that's lovely, that's lovely.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Little little kids with British accentsor vers.
- 28:15Speaker 2: I mean they're cute, but these kids are not little.
- 28:17Speaker 2: They're like seventeen years old. Oh they're like but they
- 28:20Speaker 2: are adorable. No, but they're adorable in the way they're
- 28:23Speaker 2: just like Wow, I've never had like, okay chicken.
- 28:27Speaker 1: I was in the UK, I went to I was
- 28:31Speaker 1: there first school, and I went to the dining hall
- 28:33Speaker 1: and they had toast. But the bread they just put
- 28:37Speaker 1: it in the deep fror. That was the buttered.
- 28:40Speaker 2: Toast that they fried bread, fried bread, and I'd never
- 28:43Speaker 2: had that before.
- 28:45Speaker 1: It was really good.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm sure, well it's fried.
- 28:47Speaker 1: It had like the consistency of a churro, but was
- 28:50Speaker 1: salty where I was like, oh this is chewy. This
- 28:53Speaker 1: is like the beans had beans on it, you know.
- 28:56Speaker 1: It was like a side dish at breakfast, side dish,
- 29:00Speaker 1: like you got your eggs and your like bacon and
- 29:02Speaker 1: your Maybe there were beans, but it was like they
- 29:05Speaker 1: had to have been rather than just the toast you
- 29:07Speaker 1: would get. It was deep red bread.
- 29:10Speaker 2: We're going to Ireland and I am really looking forward
- 29:13Speaker 2: to having like an Irish breakfast, Yeah, with like blood pudding.
- 29:17Speaker 1: Blood Pudding's good. I like blood pudding.
- 29:19Speaker 2: I can't remember. I don't think I like blood pudding.
- 29:23Speaker 1: It's got like a crust to it that, in retrospect.
- 29:27Speaker 2: Was blood right, and they fried it till it's crispy.
- 29:31Speaker 1: Yeah, this is supposed to be a legal podcast.
- 29:33Speaker 2: I'm really sorry. Sorry, I know, I know, I know.
- 29:35Speaker 2: You've completely gone off the rails.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Let's take a break, we'll come back. Let's talk about
- 29:40Speaker 1: Lui Ji MANGIONI okay, because they updated his defense and
- 29:43Speaker 1: I feel like I owe it to the sillennials that
- 29:45Speaker 1: follow me. Sure, Okay, we'll be right back. Welcome back.
- 29:52Speaker 1: This is under oath. We're going to be talking deep
- 29:54Speaker 1: dive into a hot topic plaguing the news feed right now,
- 29:59Speaker 1: which is Luigi Mangoni.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Friends. What I always say, well, wrong segment, Well fuck me, okay,
- 30:08Speaker 2: you looked at me.
- 30:09Speaker 1: No wrong segment.
- 30:11Speaker 2: Okay, we're moving on Luigi.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Okay, Luigi Mangoni. What did he allegedly do?
- 30:18Speaker 2: He allegedly murdered the CEO of United Healthcare.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Yeah, and so they were charging him with murder and
- 30:29Speaker 1: in the first degree and second degree, and now his
- 30:32Speaker 1: defense team is saying that he was suffering from extreme
- 30:35Speaker 1: emotional disturbance.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Because do they say that they made they didn't really
- 30:39Speaker 2: say why, Okay, did they see change? And I'm just
- 30:43Speaker 2: asking if they did say booth. I wonder if not
- 30:46Speaker 2: saying right now is a part of the strategy.
- 30:48Speaker 1: I remember that, like he disappeared for a while, and
- 30:51Speaker 1: then like he didn't his family didn't hear from him
- 30:53Speaker 1: for six months, and then he showed up.
- 30:55Speaker 2: And killed allegedly killed this guy.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Maybe there's something in six months where they're going to claim,
- 31:02Speaker 1: you know, he went through brainwashing or I don't know
- 31:05Speaker 1: what it was. But basically, this is what defense attorneys do,
- 31:08Speaker 1: is they're trying to reduce the charges that have the
- 31:10Speaker 1: lowest sentence. But the interesting thing about this is any
- 31:13Speaker 1: sort of emotional disturbance or insanity plea we called an
- 31:17Speaker 1: affirmative defense, which is like such a stupid name for
- 31:19Speaker 1: it because it's like, how can you be affirmative and
- 31:22Speaker 1: defensive but you're basically saying I did it. However, I
- 31:25Speaker 1: had a good reason for it, similar to the heat
- 31:27Speaker 1: of the passion crimes, right, So in this one it
- 31:32Speaker 1: would be I was suffering such from such extreme emotional disturbances,
- 31:37Speaker 1: I should not be tried. I don't know why I'm
- 31:40Speaker 1: doing this in first person. Should not I should not
- 31:43Speaker 1: be tried as someone who was in their right mind
- 31:48Speaker 1: and had a mind that was well enough to hold
- 31:51Speaker 1: the requisite men's rea to commit this crime, and be
- 31:54Speaker 1: tried as a person who was sane. So what I
- 31:57Speaker 1: do know from law school is like insanity please are
- 32:00Speaker 1: really hard?
- 32:01Speaker 2: Are they?
- 32:01Speaker 1: They're really hard to win because if you if it
- 32:05Speaker 1: were somewhat, if it were even a slightly reduced standard
- 32:10Speaker 1: you have to reach every moment, would be doing it
- 32:12Speaker 1: in insanity plea for everything, okay, parking ticket, whatever, like everything,
- 32:17Speaker 1: you would just be like I was crazy.
- 32:20Speaker 2: I mean, but what Okay?
- 32:22Speaker 1: But so there was this red notebook that they found
- 32:25Speaker 1: a McDonald's, which is like a big key part of
- 32:27Speaker 1: the evidence in the prosecutor's case, and they're thinking that
- 32:30Speaker 1: Luigi's defense won't hold up because of what was written
- 32:34Speaker 1: in that red notebook was so cognizant, like it was
- 32:38Speaker 1: so put together that there was a quote you want
- 32:40Speaker 1: to read the quote.
- 32:41Speaker 3: I finally feel confident about what I will do. The
- 32:44Speaker 3: details are finally coming together.
- 32:46Speaker 2: Hmm.
- 32:48Speaker 1: That doesn't sound.
- 32:49Speaker 2: Good, But I mean, I'm sure his attorney's are going
- 32:52Speaker 2: to try and make a case of like this is
- 32:54Speaker 2: these are not the words of somebody who who was
- 32:58Speaker 2: in his right line. So even though this sounds really cognizant,
- 33:04Speaker 2: but they're going to try. They have to earn their
- 33:06Speaker 2: money somehow.
- 33:07Speaker 1: Right, And so basically as this case is sort of
- 33:09Speaker 1: coming together, what's happening is that behind the scenes, the
- 33:13Speaker 1: prosecution is trying to pull together all their little bits
- 33:15Speaker 1: of evidence that's allowed in and defense is trying to
- 33:20Speaker 1: anticipate how a jury's going to react to that and
- 33:22Speaker 1: what they're going to response is going to be. So
- 33:25Speaker 1: there's something called taking the stinger out of the bee.
- 33:27Speaker 1: This is like a trial strategy that comes where if
- 33:31Speaker 1: you know something bad is going to come up, like
- 33:32Speaker 1: the words written in the Red Notebook, for example, as
- 33:36Speaker 1: a defense attorney, you would bring that up proactively in
- 33:41Speaker 1: your opening statement with a witness testimony before the prosecution
- 33:46Speaker 1: can talk about it. That way, the jury doesn't think
- 33:49Speaker 1: that you got surprised or that you're on your heels
- 33:52Speaker 1: with this evidence. You bring it up beforehand, you anticipate it,
- 33:56Speaker 1: and it's called taking the stinger out of the bee.
- 33:58Speaker 1: That way, you've already social with the jury. Oh, the
- 34:01Speaker 1: red notebook. You're going to hear about this red notebook
- 34:03Speaker 1: at trial, and you're going to hear the prosecutor say
- 34:05Speaker 1: this and read these words and that way. When the
- 34:08Speaker 1: prosecutor does it, it's like, yeah, we already heard that,
- 34:11Speaker 1: we heard that, we knew this was coming.
- 34:12Speaker 3: For us to be the most up to date, I
- 34:14Speaker 3: just clicked on that NBC link that I had in
- 34:16Speaker 3: the breakdown, and they're now reversing. They don't want to
- 34:18Speaker 3: use this psychiatric defense anymore.
- 34:21Speaker 2: So they are scrambling to try and figure out what
- 34:23Speaker 2: they're going to do for this kid, for this man
- 34:26Speaker 2: young man.
- 34:27Speaker 1: Yeah, that's not good. But I wonder every potential juror
- 34:31Speaker 1: is reading that, Like everyone who's going to be on
- 34:33Speaker 1: the jury's going to be reading that.
- 34:34Speaker 2: But I wonder if what they are in the end,
- 34:37Speaker 2: what they're hoping for his Luigi's attorneys, is that there
- 34:41Speaker 2: will be enough people on a jury who have been
- 34:47Speaker 2: absolutely screwed by a health insurance company. Now being clear,
- 34:53Speaker 2: just because you've been screwed doesn't mean that you're allowed
- 34:56Speaker 2: to go and allegedly kill somebody, right, But but I
- 34:59Speaker 2: wonder if they're really kind of hoping that people will say,
- 35:02Speaker 2: you know what, either I or somebody that I know
- 35:06Speaker 2: did not get the treatment that they deserved or like
- 35:08Speaker 2: you know, lost their home or whatever. It is, right,
- 35:11Speaker 2: And I think a lot of people can say can
- 35:13Speaker 2: talk about a bad experience that they've had and will say,
- 35:16Speaker 2: you know what, maybe this guy was pushed to the
- 35:20Speaker 2: breaking point and that's why he allegedly did this thing,
- 35:24Speaker 2: because all signs point to him probably having done this, right.
- 35:30Speaker 1: I hear what you're saying, Yeah about jury's he's going
- 35:34Speaker 1: to lose.
- 35:35Speaker 2: That's my hot take. He's going to lose this case, sure.
- 35:38Speaker 1: And I know that, you know, a lot of people
- 35:40Speaker 1: on the internet have his back, and a lot of
- 35:41Speaker 1: people are going to comment on this clip and say,
- 35:44Speaker 1: but this is not a this is not a winning case.
- 35:47Speaker 1: This is not And even if there is that one
- 35:49Speaker 1: person on the jury, it's juries are so unpredictable. I
- 35:54Speaker 1: just don't think people understand sometimes how unpredictable jurors are,
- 35:59Speaker 1: and how much of like an intersection of the world
- 36:02Speaker 1: is represented in the juries, oh for sure, And how
- 36:04Speaker 1: much of like just your in my social life, right,
- 36:08Speaker 1: is one one hundredth of society's frame of mind. So
- 36:15Speaker 1: when we're talking about oh, yeah, twelve people, half of
- 36:19Speaker 1: them are going to have similar ideas and thoughts as
- 36:21Speaker 1: you and me. M not necessarily, No, you'll be lucky
- 36:25Speaker 1: if there's one person on there who comes from a
- 36:27Speaker 1: similar walk of life as you, even if you're from
- 36:29Speaker 1: the same community. So I feel like, looking at how
- 36:33Speaker 1: this is going to shake out if they're betting on
- 36:36Speaker 1: a juror if there if their defense strategy is let's
- 36:40Speaker 1: bet that someone on the jury has a negative experience
- 36:45Speaker 1: with a healthcare provider or is frustrated by that and
- 36:47Speaker 1: is going to hang up this entire jury. That's like,
- 36:51Speaker 1: that's that's I mean, last ditch attempt. Sure, but I
- 36:55Speaker 1: agree with you, Like, yeah, I hear you, Like that
- 36:58Speaker 1: would be something that Michael the non lawyer watching this
- 37:04Speaker 1: on TV be like, oh yeah, I would think that
- 37:07Speaker 1: that would happen. But knowing what I've seen, jurors come
- 37:12Speaker 1: out of that room and they say, oh, yeah, we
- 37:13Speaker 1: convicted because and then they say something that no one
- 37:17Speaker 1: nobody yeah, and we're like huh, or they're like, oh, Michael,
- 37:24Speaker 1: you were writing really fast, so we assumed he was guilty.
- 37:29Speaker 1: You were scribbling furiously during that testimony, and I'm like, yeah,
- 37:32Speaker 1: I'm taking notes because I'm about to eat this witness up,
- 37:36Speaker 1: not because I was worried. I was taking down notes
- 37:39Speaker 1: of everything I was going to gobble them up with.
- 37:42Speaker 1: They interpret it as so you just it's one of
- 37:45Speaker 1: these things where you just have no idea what's going
- 37:47Speaker 1: to go down. But they did get a lot of
- 37:49Speaker 1: the evidence thrown out in this case. That's another way
- 37:51Speaker 1: to win a case like this is peremptory hearings, so
- 37:55Speaker 1: getting evidence thrown out. I think they got his statements
- 37:59Speaker 1: that he made to the police officers in the McDonalds.
- 38:01Speaker 1: Those were thrown out because he wasn't mirandized. They knew
- 38:04Speaker 1: who he was, who was under arrest, they never mirandized him.
- 38:07Speaker 1: And then the statemance he made, they threw those out.
- 38:10Speaker 1: I think the backpack, I think, I don't know if
- 38:13Speaker 1: that's going to be allowed into evidence.
- 38:15Speaker 3: They're trying to argue now that the red notebook was
- 38:18Speaker 3: an illegal seizure, which is I think.
- 38:19Speaker 1: What part of the reason why they're doing this reversal.
- 38:23Speaker 1: So basically, there's this concept called the fruit of the
- 38:26Speaker 1: poisonous tree doctrine, which is that if the search was
- 38:31Speaker 1: not in compliance with the Fourth Amendment, which is unlawful
- 38:35Speaker 1: search and seizures anything. Even if they get the bloody
- 38:38Speaker 1: knife murder weapon with the prints and the blood on it,
- 38:41Speaker 1: anything from that illegal search is not admissible in court,
- 38:45Speaker 1: and you have to try the entire case as if
- 38:48Speaker 1: it doesn't exist, so the prosecutor can't bring it up.
- 38:51Speaker 1: That's a mistrial. Defense can reference it in whatever, no
- 38:54Speaker 1: one can talk about it at trial. And so that's
- 38:56Speaker 1: how you would kind of win one of these cases.
- 38:58Speaker 1: In these preemptive me what do.
- 39:01Speaker 2: You think the hope is for this guy? Like what
- 39:03Speaker 2: ultimately what is the best case scenario for him? Because
- 39:07Speaker 2: I just I can't imagine that this is somebody who's
- 39:11Speaker 2: going to get off scott free, right, I cannot imagine that.
- 39:16Speaker 2: So barring getting off scott.
- 39:19Speaker 1: Free, twenty years, twenty years, twenty years in prison, I
- 39:23Speaker 1: think that's.
- 39:24Speaker 2: What best case scenario for him.
- 39:26Speaker 1: I think so. I think, just like being honest with
- 39:29Speaker 1: the evidence and the facts of this case, I think
- 39:32Speaker 1: he's going to get twenty years in prison, Okay, yeah, yeah,
- 39:35Speaker 1: maybe life. Yeah, because there's a video footage of him,
- 39:41Speaker 1: he was waiting, there was mensrea, there was intent. They
- 39:46Speaker 1: have to prove the intent, though, they have to prove
- 39:50Speaker 1: the forethought. So that'll be something if the red notebook
- 39:53Speaker 1: is getting thrown out, if there's no manifesto or anything
- 39:57Speaker 1: like that, that'll be hard for a prosecution to kind
- 39:59Speaker 1: of pin down hard evidence. But video surveillance, footage of
- 40:05Speaker 1: if they confirm that and they get everything into evidence,
- 40:09Speaker 1: it's really hard to get around that kind of stuff
- 40:11Speaker 1: with a jury. Sure, yeah, are very much. It's a
- 40:15Speaker 1: visual medium, right, you know, I can see.
- 40:17Speaker 2: That and once you regardless of what you feel about
- 40:22Speaker 2: the person who's killed, right, but if there is evidence
- 40:28Speaker 2: in front of you, there's a video, there's you know, yeah,
- 40:32Speaker 2: then you can't help. But yeah, be like okay.
- 40:36Speaker 1: If there is video evidence in a case, it almost
- 40:41Speaker 1: always doesn't go forward. It's almost always plea deal in
- 40:45Speaker 1: my experience, whenever there's a video, that is the first thing.
- 40:49Speaker 2: So what could they plead him down to.
- 40:51Speaker 1: They could play him down to like second degree murder.
- 40:55Speaker 2: Probably okay, which is usually a sentence of.
- 40:58Speaker 1: Yeah, but the process cution would have to be open
- 41:01Speaker 1: to that. If they've got great evidence, they're like, let's
- 41:04Speaker 1: get the conviction, let's go forward. That's like their perspective. Okay,
- 41:07Speaker 1: but I've really only seen these kinds of cases go
- 41:09Speaker 1: forward where the defenses saying no to a plea deal
- 41:15Speaker 1: when the video evidence doesn't get admitted or it's corrupted
- 41:19Speaker 1: or lost or damaged or whatever. Okay, they just didn't
- 41:22Speaker 1: exist in the first place. Okay, Yeah, it's going to
- 41:25Speaker 1: be I mean it's soon the trials in a couple
- 41:27Speaker 1: of months, so.
- 41:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it's I've been waiting a while though.
- 41:32Speaker 1: You know, we could like watch that if you guys want,
- 41:34Speaker 1: we could do like a separate coverage of this or something.
- 41:38Speaker 2: I think.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Yes, it's like right here in New York.
- 41:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I go to that courthouse all the time.
- 41:43Speaker 2: You're just gonna sit there and watch it and just
- 41:45Speaker 2: like really hard to How many people do you think
- 41:48Speaker 2: they want it? It's like the people they were like
- 41:52Speaker 2: practically selling tickets just for Diddy's trial. Do you know
- 41:55Speaker 2: what I mean?
- 41:55Speaker 1: I feel like I know a guy. Do you feel
- 41:57Speaker 1: like I know a bailiff who could get me in?
- 41:58Speaker 1: I do?
- 42:00Speaker 2: I mean, do you know where it's taking place?
- 42:02Speaker 1: Yeah? Okay, I was kicking with the bailiffs the other day.
- 42:06Speaker 1: It was really bad, like out in the hallway. We
- 42:08Speaker 1: were we were like giggling.
- 42:10Speaker 2: So what's wrong with that?
- 42:11Speaker 1: It was great, It was it was actually kind of great.
- 42:13Speaker 3: I have a question for you on the Luigi stuff,
- 42:16Speaker 3: but it's not necessarily specific to this. So his defense
- 42:20Speaker 3: team is they requested that some of his statements that
- 42:22Speaker 3: he made be cut from the record, claiming that he
- 42:24Speaker 3: had been not had not yet been read his Miranda
- 42:27Speaker 3: rights before being interrogated. How is that possible when the
- 42:31Speaker 3: New York One NYPD had this is like a man hunt,
- 42:33Speaker 3: like they were, how do they not read him his
- 42:36Speaker 3: Miranda rights?
- 42:37Speaker 1: So he wasn't mirandized because he was found in Pennsylvania
- 42:41Speaker 1: and like a rural town and these were like the
- 42:43Speaker 1: local police officers from like Scranton, Pennsylvania or something. And
- 42:50Speaker 1: but no, I mean no, this is not like a
- 42:52Speaker 1: good defense of them. Okay, But from my perspective, I'm
- 42:55Speaker 1: like those officers were not very experienced because they literally
- 42:59Speaker 1: they should have randized him right away for resid him.
- 43:02Speaker 1: They were from my when I was I mean, this
- 43:05Speaker 1: is not me. I'm not letting police officer und right.
- 43:09Speaker 2: No, I understand what you're saying, but it seems to
- 43:12Speaker 2: me as a polic Like it's literally I'm not a
- 43:15Speaker 2: police officer and I have seen enough sbu to know,
- 43:19Speaker 2: but never like even if it's your first day on
- 43:22Speaker 2: the fucking no, no, no, no.
- 43:25Speaker 1: They're like, wait a minute, there's just the guy from
- 43:28Speaker 1: the TV.
- 43:31Speaker 2: The guy that is that. No, there's no really bad,
- 43:36Speaker 2: it's really really bad. So they were so excited to
- 43:38Speaker 2: see him that they forgot to do their job.
- 43:40Speaker 1: And also with Luisgu's child, there was some weird ship
- 43:43Speaker 1: where like the body cams turned on and off a
- 43:45Speaker 1: couple of times and then it was like there was something.
- 43:50Speaker 1: They put some evidence in a McDonald's bag. Oh my god,
- 43:53Speaker 1: I'm serious. And then one officer had it in a
- 43:56Speaker 1: McDonald's bag. They were driving it to the precinct part
- 44:00Speaker 1: from Luigi, but then and the body cam was on
- 44:03Speaker 1: and then it went off again and the bag was
- 44:07Speaker 1: gone and it was back with Luigi, and like the
- 44:08Speaker 1: cop turned around and went back, and like the phone
- 44:11Speaker 1: records showed that they were called like the officers called
- 44:14Speaker 1: each other a bunch. There was some weird stuff going on,
- 44:17Speaker 1: like the Karen Reid trial. Do you remember this, Like
- 44:19Speaker 1: there was some sort of weird cop phone record and
- 44:23Speaker 1: body cam inconsistencies with Luigi's arrest.
- 44:27Speaker 2: Me let me ask you something, just not about Luigian necessarily,
- 44:31Speaker 2: but when a police officer has bodycam, Yeah, it's supposed
- 44:37Speaker 2: to be on all the time, right, So when it
- 44:40Speaker 2: is not on and then it comes back on, yeah,
- 44:44Speaker 2: is there a reason? Ever? Like, what is your recourse
- 44:47Speaker 2: as a defense attorney?
- 44:48Speaker 1: Right? What I do is I use it as part
- 44:51Speaker 1: of my defense. Is like, Hello, this is suspiciously and
- 44:55Speaker 1: randomly turned off like at the key crucial moment when
- 44:58Speaker 1: the alleged issue curd whether it's an assault or whatever.
- 45:01Speaker 1: So that is how I use it, because you can
- 45:03Speaker 1: use the absence to so doubt with a judge or jury.
- 45:06Speaker 1: So that's how I use it. Okay, officers claim, yes,
- 45:10Speaker 1: wardrobe malfunction, right, they say they give the Jana Jackson.
- 45:14Speaker 1: They say, oh, it stopped working randomly at the crucial
- 45:17Speaker 1: moment that way, and it.
- 45:19Speaker 2: Came back on all of a sudden.
- 45:20Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, literally, yes, And it's the same with dash
- 45:24Speaker 1: cam footage like that. That is like very much Okay, socialized.
- 45:27Speaker 2: And does that, But I'm just curious does that work?
- 45:30Speaker 2: Is that working?
- 45:31Speaker 1: It's working to keep them personally free of liability. Okay,
- 45:36Speaker 1: it's not necessarily working to like in the criminal proceedings
- 45:40Speaker 1: for that defendant.
- 45:41Speaker 2: I just wonder as a police officer, if you do
- 45:44Speaker 2: that multiple times, I mean, that's not really good job securities.
- 45:49Speaker 2: I mean, because you're making the same mistake over and
- 45:51Speaker 2: over again, and people are and I don't know because
- 45:55Speaker 2: of it, people are getting off or they're having to pay.
- 45:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I unfortunately think people are getting away with it
- 46:01Speaker 1: for a while. Okay, yeah, unfortunately.
- 46:03Speaker 2: Okay.
- 46:04Speaker 1: I told you about that trial where all the evidence
- 46:06Speaker 1: was deleted from the police phones. They like turned them
- 46:09Speaker 1: in and then factory reset them. There was all this
- 46:11Speaker 1: evidence on the phone.
- 46:12Speaker 2: And then and what's so what happened we.
- 46:15Speaker 1: Went to trial? We were like, there's no evidence, we
- 46:18Speaker 1: only have witness testimony. So we got to go off
- 46:22Speaker 1: your case.
- 46:23Speaker 2: Are you able to say did it go? Okay? Okay, okay,
- 46:28Speaker 2: I just don't even understand how what it's like, what's.
- 46:31Speaker 1: Like glue, sorry, ADHD, Like what's.
- 46:36Speaker 2: Going on in the home, because what it feels like,
- 46:38Speaker 2: you know what I mean, Like, what the fuck is
- 46:40Speaker 2: going on?
- 46:41Speaker 1: What's happening in the precincts?
- 46:42Speaker 2: Happening who's in charge. It's just the whole thing just
- 46:47Speaker 2: reeks of such corruption. Yes, and and we know that
- 46:50Speaker 2: that's true, but it's just it's so it's obvious to
- 46:54Speaker 2: the point it's stupid.
- 46:55Speaker 1: Well, it's criminal. Defense attorneys have always have been on
- 47:01Speaker 1: the front lines of witnessing and going up against police corruption.
- 47:06Speaker 1: I think that's that's that tales oldest time, Like my
- 47:09Speaker 1: law professors were telling us stories from the seventies, right, Okay,
- 47:13Speaker 1: but yeah, I mean all these cases that you heard
- 47:15Speaker 1: about Miranda Rights, there was a mister Miranda No I know,
- 47:18Speaker 1: like there was a person that had to have rights
- 47:24Speaker 1: so violated that it then went to court to trial
- 47:27Speaker 1: all the way. They after him, they named it after
- 47:29Speaker 1: that Rice.
- 47:30Speaker 2: Right.
- 47:31Speaker 3: Is this like an attractive case to in a defense
- 47:33Speaker 3: attorney because there's so many like missteps.
- 47:36Speaker 1: In that Luigi trial? Yeah?
- 47:37Speaker 3: Or is it like something you want to stay away
- 47:39Speaker 3: from because you don't want to get a loss on
- 47:40Speaker 3: your record.
- 47:41Speaker 1: If this case weren't so high profile with Luigi and
- 47:43Speaker 1: I saw all these errors and this was crossing my desk,
- 47:47Speaker 1: I'd be like, this is a normal number of errors
- 47:52Speaker 1: in evidence, chain of custody in Miranda Rights violations. This
- 47:57Speaker 1: wouldn't keep me up at night with the rights violations.
- 48:00Speaker 1: Be like, yeah, this that makes.
- 48:01Speaker 2: Sense, Would you take it?
- 48:02Speaker 1: I always decide cases based off can I actually help?
- 48:07Speaker 1: Here is their work that I can do Where my
- 48:10Speaker 1: skills would actually help this person. It would depend on,
- 48:14Speaker 1: like the time in my life. It's a huge time commitment. Sure,
- 48:19Speaker 1: really expensive case to say yes to a case like that,
- 48:22Speaker 1: the Luigia you hat a side like if no one
- 48:24Speaker 1: knew who this was.
- 48:25Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
- 48:27Speaker 1: This person's coming to and saying, will you defend me?
- 48:29Speaker 1: We're going to be working together for the next four years, okay, right,
- 48:33Speaker 1: Like that's so long, and that's with no appeal if
- 48:36Speaker 1: we lose, right, okay. So there's just so much that's
- 48:40Speaker 1: going to go into that. For me to take a
- 48:42Speaker 1: case like that, it would have to be for your salary.
- 48:47Speaker 1: That's going to be majority of my time going into
- 48:49Speaker 1: that case. You know that's without the public profile thing.
- 48:52Speaker 1: But I do think a lawyer taking that case right now,
- 48:55Speaker 1: with the public profile stuff, that'll make your career.
- 48:58Speaker 2: You can hang your hat or break it.
- 49:00Speaker 1: You get so much exposure from a trial like that,
- 49:03Speaker 1: What if you really I mean, if you beef it, yeah, absolutely.
- 49:08Speaker 1: But if you do a decent job, you've got a
- 49:11Speaker 1: lot of press conferences, You're getting a lot of camera time. Yeah,
- 49:15Speaker 1: I think a lot of lawyers would jump at that case.
- 49:17Speaker 2: I wonder who's paying them? Does Luigi have any money?
- 49:20Speaker 1: I think he does, right, who's paying them?
- 49:23Speaker 2: I always wonder that, Yeah, I always wonder who's saying
- 49:26Speaker 2: who's paying like, especially if it's you know.
- 49:29Speaker 1: A lot of people going to debt.
- 49:30Speaker 2: No, I know, but you also can get blood from
- 49:33Speaker 2: a rock, right. So if I only have one hundred
- 49:36Speaker 2: dollars and you're in your fee is two hundred dollars,
- 49:38Speaker 2: I'm out of luck. Right, Yeah, So, like everything else,
- 49:42Speaker 2: if you do not have the resources at your disposal,
- 49:47Speaker 2: does that mean that you are not going to get
- 49:50Speaker 2: a defense that you deserve?
- 49:53Speaker 1: Well? I love the public defender offices, but I.
- 49:56Speaker 2: Also like but their time, yes, and the and they
- 50:01Speaker 2: investigator around, right exactly.
- 50:03Speaker 1: I also think a lot about a case like this.
- 50:07Speaker 1: I live in an echo chamber. I've admitted this so
- 50:09Speaker 1: many times. So many people in my little internet world
- 50:15Speaker 1: are not condemning Luigi's behavior. I think is maybe like
- 50:18Speaker 1: the nicest way I'll put it, Yeah, the most palatable
- 50:22Speaker 1: way to put it. Yeah, there's a lot of this
- 50:24Speaker 1: person's martyrdom, yes of Luigi. I wonder what I'm not
- 50:29Speaker 1: hearing outside that echo chamber. What is the conversation about
- 50:33Speaker 1: Luigi and everyday American home that.
- 50:38Speaker 2: Isn't my I mean I've heard some you know, I
- 50:41Speaker 2: mean it's and it's all the things that you would
- 50:44Speaker 2: expect to hear.
- 50:46Speaker 1: Is it pro United Healthcare? Is it?
- 50:48Speaker 2: It's not, it's not, it's not pro United. I have
- 50:51Speaker 2: not heard that. I have not heard pro United Healthcare.
- 50:53Speaker 2: I've heard more like this feels like a very sort
- 50:56Speaker 2: of liberal person thing to do.
- 50:58Speaker 1: There's a right way to do there's a right.
- 51:00Speaker 2: Way and a wrong way to do this. You which
- 51:04Speaker 2: I understand you are not permitted to decide to somebody. Yeah,
- 51:10Speaker 2: you're supposed to do things like that. I've heard a
- 51:13Speaker 2: lot of that. I have not heard anything about pro
- 51:17Speaker 2: United health Care though, I mean who I mean, no, no, no, no,
- 51:22Speaker 2: But we're not we're not saying it's okay to kill
- 51:26Speaker 2: somebody who works for this organization.
- 51:29Speaker 1: Like, oh, they approved my claim self, I had.
- 51:35Speaker 2: I've never had a problem. They approved, they approved my
- 51:38Speaker 2: sleep study. They didn't. You know what I'm saying, I'm
- 51:43Speaker 2: still walking the floors at night because they will pay
- 51:48Speaker 2: for my sleep study.
- 51:49Speaker 1: Goddamn it.
- 51:51Speaker 2: But do you know what I'm saying? And like, you know,
- 51:53Speaker 2: and health insurance companies are notorious for doing things like this,
- 51:56Speaker 2: Like yeah, and I know I talk about my weight
- 51:58Speaker 2: loss surgery a lot, but it was a it was
- 52:00Speaker 2: a big thing that happened to me. But they were
- 52:04Speaker 2: willing to pay. My health insurance company was willing to
- 52:08Speaker 2: pay for my surgery. But none of the none of
- 52:12Speaker 2: the fallout from it. Right, So, like after you've lost
- 52:15Speaker 2: all that weight, there's like all this skin that is
- 52:19Speaker 2: considered cosmetic.
- 52:20Speaker 1: Right.
- 52:21Speaker 2: If you lose a tooth, right, then it's in the
- 52:25Speaker 2: back to get that replaced cosmetic. Do you see what
- 52:29Speaker 2: I'm saying? No, no, no, no, no, not me. I'm talking
- 52:33Speaker 2: about all the things that could happen to a person. No, no, no,
- 52:37Speaker 2: there are all these things that can happen to somebody.
- 52:39Speaker 2: If you get into an accident and you have a scar,
- 52:43Speaker 2: they stitch up the scar, the scar itself. If you
- 52:45Speaker 2: want to get that fixed, that is cosmetic, right, Never
- 52:49Speaker 2: mind that you don't want to be somebody with a
- 52:51Speaker 2: big scar in your face. How traumatizing that could be? Right?
- 52:56Speaker 2: Why is mental health so hard to Yeah? Why do
- 53:01Speaker 2: you only get five sessions a year or whatever it
- 53:04Speaker 2: is or your PT? This is what I'm saying. Yeah, so, oh.
- 53:08Speaker 1: My god, I need a pet so bad. I paid
- 53:11Speaker 1: for that shit out of pocket for so long. But
- 53:14Speaker 1: but and it was it was worth it for me
- 53:16Speaker 1: and I could afford it. But let me tell you,
- 53:19Speaker 1: it was like the only thing that helped me after
- 53:21Speaker 1: I busted my feet and was in those boots and crutches,
- 53:25Speaker 1: back blown out from crutching around America biking in an
- 53:29Speaker 1: orthopedic boot.
- 53:31Speaker 2: I don't know that you should have been doing that.
- 53:33Speaker 1: I told you I didn't do the kick line anymore
- 53:35Speaker 1: for the Rocket, And they said, sir, yes, please stop
- 53:39Speaker 1: coming to Radio City Music Hall.
- 53:41Speaker 2: We don't work here.
- 53:42Speaker 1: We don't work. We don't know you stop auditioning. You're
- 53:46Speaker 1: too old.
- 53:48Speaker 2: We don't go here.
- 53:49Speaker 1: You can hear your hip clicking during the kick line.
- 53:52Speaker 2: But I'm just saying though, like, honestly, it's it's the
- 53:57Speaker 2: get a hold of yours stupid I'm sorry, but but
- 54:01Speaker 2: that's what I'm saying. It is you know there are
- 54:04Speaker 2: things that you need. Like I told you, I've reached
- 54:08Speaker 2: out to this guy, but he that's social worker. I
- 54:11Speaker 2: told you guys about whose job it is that he's
- 54:13Speaker 2: sort of fighting with the insurance. Come my god, and
- 54:16Speaker 2: it's horrible. Yes, this is something. You know. This person
- 54:19Speaker 2: has cancer. Everyone says that they have cancer.
- 54:21Speaker 1: They need this treatment in the hospital bed, trying to
- 54:24Speaker 1: call to get their things approved before and.
- 54:25Speaker 2: They're saying no, because you know, we needed to be
- 54:29Speaker 2: warded this exactly. You know this person is dying. So
- 54:33Speaker 2: I don't. I don't. I have not heard anyone who
- 54:36Speaker 2: is pro health insurance company.
- 54:40Speaker 1: I'm being nicer to Brad now because I'm honest. Insurance.
- 54:44Speaker 2: Yeah, you better.
- 54:45Speaker 1: I'm doing the dishes. I'm taking the energy the dishes.
- 54:48Speaker 2: I'm like, you better cook all the meals. Yeah yeah,
- 54:54Speaker 2: be nice.
- 54:54Speaker 1: I'm like, can you send me that claim for him? Sweetie, honey,
- 54:58Speaker 1: we come hither.
- 54:59Speaker 2: Look, I'll do that thing that you like.
- 55:05Speaker 1: My mother in law listen said the show, let's take
- 55:07Speaker 1: a break.
- 55:09Speaker 2: She knows that you guys do.
- 55:12Speaker 1: Welcome back to Brief Recess. This his tales from the DMS.
- 55:15Speaker 1: We're going to read all the wicked and wild, freaky, deeky,
- 55:18Speaker 1: sick and twisted, salty and sweet things. You send us
- 55:22Speaker 1: things you sent us zero to the show. You can
- 55:24Speaker 1: email us at brief Recess at exactlyrightmedia dot com. You
- 55:28Speaker 1: can DM it to me. If it's something horrific that
- 55:30Speaker 1: you want no one else to read, you can send
- 55:33Speaker 1: it to Melissa.
- 55:35Speaker 2: Love messy stuff. I love it.
- 55:37Speaker 1: I love Remember the guy in the penitentiary who was
- 55:40Speaker 1: hooking up with the guy who murdered the gay guy
- 55:43Speaker 1: who used the gay panic.
- 55:44Speaker 2: Big Gay Josh shout out to big Gay Joe allegedly
- 55:47Speaker 2: allegedly exactly right.
- 55:49Speaker 1: Karen texted me she wants us to say.
- 55:51Speaker 2: Lest allegedly Anyway, friends, what do I always say? While
- 55:56Speaker 2: Michael is a lawyer, he's not your lawyer, so you
- 56:00Speaker 2: should get your own.
- 56:01Speaker 1: Did someone you said someone recognize you and quoted that
- 56:03Speaker 1: to you?
- 56:04Speaker 2: So I was talking to somebody and somebody said that
- 56:07Speaker 2: to me. Yeah. They were just like, oh, oh, let
- 56:10Speaker 2: me guess while Michael is a lay and then they
- 56:14Speaker 2: what's really funny is that they did what I guess
- 56:17Speaker 2: they think is a New York accent, And I was like,
- 56:19Speaker 2: do I sound like that?
- 56:22Speaker 1: Maybe it's like Joey back at donuts. Yes, anyway, okay,
- 56:27Speaker 1: all right, TikTok comments on Inner monologues. Wow, we're reading
- 56:31Speaker 1: the TikTok comments on our videos. Ikey says, Ikey CJ.
- 56:36Speaker 1: Don't make me breathe.
- 56:39Speaker 2: Oh my likeness.
- 56:40Speaker 1: Ikey says, I don't have one. I still have thoughts
- 56:43Speaker 1: and a conscience. It's just quiet. There's no voice talking
- 56:47Speaker 1: to me. If I want, I can choose to play
- 56:49Speaker 1: a song or hear someone's voice in my head, but
- 56:52Speaker 1: it's a conscious recall. Oh how nice it must be,
- 56:56Speaker 1: Ikey to be able to tune out the voices in
- 56:58Speaker 1: your head.
- 56:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I I I'm still finding that fascinating, right because
- 57:05Speaker 2: it never stops in my head.
- 57:07Speaker 1: I'm just swearing all constantly.
- 57:12Speaker 2: But but also I'm also like remembering random things that
- 57:16Speaker 2: happened to me in like the sixth grade or like.
- 57:19Speaker 1: So I think this is one of those things where
- 57:21Speaker 1: like where actually the problem and Ikey's living it up.
- 57:25Speaker 1: Ikey's having their shout out to Ikey was thinking, clearly,
- 57:31Speaker 1: I don't have.
- 57:32Speaker 2: One, and I still have Okay, I don't. I don't
- 57:35Speaker 2: understand a lot of.
- 57:37Speaker 1: People gravitated towards the inner monologue coming.
- 57:39Speaker 2: Oh wait, but there's a it's a whole thread with Ikey.
- 57:43Speaker 1: Oh wow.
- 57:44Speaker 2: Oh hold on, so oh well, let's just let's to
- 57:47Speaker 2: this dialogue.
- 57:48Speaker 1: Okay.
- 57:48Speaker 2: So you want to be Ikey and I'll be all
- 57:50Speaker 2: the other I'm.
- 57:51Speaker 1: Going to be reading for the role of Ikey. I
- 57:54Speaker 1: don't have one. I still have thoughts on a conscience.
- 57:57Speaker 1: It's just quiet. There's no voice. I can choose to
- 58:00Speaker 1: play a song or hear someone's voice, but it's recall interesting.
- 58:03Speaker 2: So when you're reading, you don't hear voice saying the
- 58:06Speaker 2: words either. Also, thank you for sharing, Jess perk me too.
- 58:10Speaker 2: I can turn it on and off, but I always
- 58:12Speaker 2: hear my voice in my head when I read to
- 58:14Speaker 2: myself though thumbs up emoji.
- 58:16Speaker 1: Back to Aki, No problem. Yes, it's just silence in there, haha.
- 58:20Speaker 1: I visualize what's happening in the book, though, V Well,
- 58:24Speaker 1: that just sounds like normal. What visualizing what's happening in
- 58:28Speaker 1: a book, I think is what I don't want to.
- 58:30Speaker 1: There's no such thing as a normal person. But I
- 58:32Speaker 1: do feel like I do that you don't. I do
- 58:36Speaker 1: visualize a book when I'm reading.
- 58:37Speaker 2: It, sure, but are you do you hear the words
- 58:41Speaker 2: in your head?
- 58:42Speaker 1: I'm hearing and seeing the meaning of the words.
- 58:45Speaker 2: I'm hearing the words.
- 58:46Speaker 1: I'm not like letter letter, letter, letter, letters, space work.
- 58:50Speaker 2: I feel like I'm like word, word word word, space,
- 58:56Speaker 2: she said. He said word we're thinking about. No, I
- 58:59Speaker 2: know it takes all kinds of fri You broke me.
- 59:02Speaker 2: I know it broke me. V says, I'm curious, how
- 59:06Speaker 2: do you predict? This is what I'm saying. I'm curious,
- 59:08Speaker 2: how do you predict things? Like my running monologue? Lets
- 59:10Speaker 2: me know how I'm doing hungry, sad, bored, or if
- 59:13Speaker 2: it's unclear and I need to pause and figure it out.
- 59:17Speaker 2: What I'm noticing beauty, danger, weird smell. The weird smell
- 59:22Speaker 2: is a big one for me. Okay, I'm always I
- 59:26Speaker 2: who said, do you smell that? And he's like, I
- 59:28Speaker 2: don't smell anything. I'm like, you don't smell that, And
- 59:30Speaker 2: I will walk around until I.
- 59:32Speaker 1: Find pride in Brooklyn this past weekend.
- 59:35Speaker 2: It was pride in Brooklyn this weekend.
- 59:37Speaker 1: Yeah, and it smelled like it. And that's all I'm
- 59:40Speaker 1: gonna say.
- 59:41Speaker 2: That's what I'm thinking. Like that, the monologue in.
- 59:43Speaker 1: My head is like, okay, So Ikey says I do
- 59:46Speaker 1: all those too. It's just silence. No one's telling me anything.
- 59:51Speaker 1: I suppose it's more of a mental checklist. I keep.
- 59:53Speaker 1: It's very difficult to articulate.
- 59:55Speaker 2: Rachel how O, and then Michael Foot says, that's so cool.
- 59:59Speaker 2: I'm jealous. Lol.
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess you know. I do stay up quite
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: late and enter the comment sections on my own videos.
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: Sometimes I've been getting in trouble on threads.
- 1:00:09Speaker 1: I don't know how to use threads.
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: It's like Twitter.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: It's like Twitter, but in threads.
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: Okay, I've been getting in trouble on threads.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: Okay, So I'm still confused about internal monologues. But thank
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: you Icky for giving us.
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: Lisa Feris Stokes, it's so exhausting, Yeah, having a monologue, yes,
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: because it's because it never it never stops. For me,
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: it never stops. It's constant.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: Well, I've been meditating a lot. I've been trying to
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: meditate every day, twice a day, that is, but it's
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: still there.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: I could not. I would try. It's really very hard. Yeah.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I've got an app, but then they stole all
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: my data and then I entered a class action lawsuit
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: and then they paid me for like four hundred dollars.
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: You got four hundred dollars. Yeah, I was in a
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: class action lawsuit and I feel like it was for
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: like a bad hair product. Then I think in the
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: end I got like three dollars.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: And usually something like that. So when I got it,
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: I was like, Wow, they really must have done something
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: nefarious or my data. There's definitely like stole my passport
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: or something. Anyway, all right, we got an email about
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: the Transracialism episode.
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: Oh we did.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll read it as a white man. The Transracialism
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: episode was amazing from beginning to end. Okay, I was
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: so mad during that interview. People came up to me
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: at a bar a couple of weeks ago and they
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: were like, we heard the Transracialism episode and were you
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: angry because you sounded pissed off? And I have to
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: tell you I was no.
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: I know you were some function I so a. I
- 1:01:41Speaker 2: knew you were mad because I know Michael.
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: Don't come on my show and say something stupid shit. Well,
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: I guess I think I think what I wish. What
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: I wish was that I don't know if the person
- 1:01:56Speaker 2: who no, no, no, no. I don't know if if
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: she was nervous or whatever. I just felt like the
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: her argument for me, don't look at me like her argument,
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: her argument for me, it was not holding up for
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: me and I and I and I kind of wanted
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: it to because I wanted to be I wanted to
- 1:02:17Speaker 2: be proved wrong, you know what I mean? Because and
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: I still cannot understand why my reaction was such like
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: I was just like, what but when I think about
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: trans people, that is not the reaction that I have
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: and I and I still can't. For me, I can't
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: rationalize why I feel so opposed to those two things.
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: But yeah, no, and other people were like michael'sunded mad.
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: I'm like he was mad. I think it's I think
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: it was. You know, anybody who either knows you or
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: has been paying attention, don't use.
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: The trans community as your excuse to say some.
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: Well you like you didn't you weren't buying it, and
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: you start to shut down.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: I wasn't like it's okay to come at me with
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: like a very obscure argument that you're okay, but don't
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: angle it against the existence of trans people.
- 1:03:11Speaker 2: That is where I'm like, do you think that's what
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: she was doing.
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: I think that the argument really fell apart when she
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: couldn't compare it to trans people, right, yes, yeah. And
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: that's when I was like, okay, well, when you have
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: something that holds it up that isn't trans people, come
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: to me and I'm happy to hear it out. But
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: until then, I'm shutting down Michael. I kept being like
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: at a frame, and that's why if you rewatched that,
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: it's all Melissa all the time.
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: And at some point I'm looking at Michael like, all right.
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: Well that was us an Afferman interview.
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: Well that was different.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: That was so funny. It was that we had to
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: tag in and out because I kept giggling, and then
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: you'd take it over, and then when you started giggling,
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: I'd take it over. I loved it so much. It
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: was so much fun.
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: But we knew that we had lost all control the
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: moment the moment it started. Said he's in his car,
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: in his car and he can't figure out how to
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: do whatever.
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: You can't get on zoom.
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: Yeah, he couldn't get on Zoom because they had to
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: download it. He didn't have the app.
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: And that was when I was like his first interview
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: ever the place, the first interview with that.
- 1:04:24Speaker 2: I know, but he was it was he was such
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: a good time.
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: Poor person's listening, like Michael read my email already. Okay,
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: trans Racialism episode was amazing. The Lemon revenge story had
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: me doing my best good for her. Lucille Bluth, I lived,
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: thank you. I lived in Michigan, not far from where
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: Jonathan Schmidt's murdered Scott i'm a Dore in nineteen ninety five.
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: We were just talking about this. I was in college
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: and very active in the LGBT rights movement. Everyone, I
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: mean everyone thought Schmid's was a closeted queer. Again, please
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: don't sue me. This is all very alleged and allgi
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: a legend personally alleged for the show, alleged for exactly right,
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: Alleged for Karen and Georgia, alleged from Melissa.
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: Allegend.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: Oh yeah, everyone, everyone, everyone's allegend here. Ten Toe's down,
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: ten little tutsis down, leg O'Ryan. Michigan is a very
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: conservative area, as is the bulk of Oakland County. We
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: all understood gay panic to mean panicking because you have
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: gay feelings. Wow, Okay, that's so interesting.
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: It is interesting.
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: This was not a time or place where straight men
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: had gay friends. It just wasn't like that. Wow, believe
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: big kay Josh's alleged story.
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: I love that they say that.
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: They said that, Oh yeah, we don't know who wrote
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: this in and knew what it was allegedly. Okay, thank
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: you so much.
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: For someone's paying attention.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: You for protecting me. Knew what it was allegedly going
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: to be before you even read it, because that was
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: always the assumption since nineteen ninety five. Wow, I mean
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: talk about hanging out with gay people and yeah, you couldn't,
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: like it was straight guys just didn't have gay friends.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: And I guess we have one gay friend who he's
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: he's our little mascot, and we take him with us. Okay,
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: it's educational for him with you. Yeah, it's kind of
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: like a national geographic tour for him. You know when
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: they do those cruises sometimes you could see the Pelicans.
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: It's like that when we take him to Brooklyn Pride and.
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: Who's who are the pelicans in this situation?
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: Us me and we're teaching what an apperall sprit says,
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: you know, like it's it's very that.
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: By the way, so they're disgusting my cousin. So I
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: was actually really like touched and surprised. Shout out to Nino,
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: who apparently listens to us and sent me a picture
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: of he and his wife drinking aparaol sprits is and
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: he was like, they're really good, Misa. I know.
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: Okay, three seems like really educational about internal monologue. So
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: do you want to do we trade off paragraphs. It's
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: a little long, but it seems like they really come
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: out of.
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: Okay, Hello, Melissa, Michael Love Love Love the podcast site. Disclaimer,
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: I am not a psychologist. I'm sure you'll get a
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: ton of emails about this. We did, but I had
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: to write in I'm one of the ten percent question
- 1:07:14Speaker 2: mark of people who doesn't have an internal monologue. That
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: doesn't mean that I don't have thoughts. Y'all are equating
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: having an internal didn't we do this already?
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: No? Okay, just everyone has thoughts about this.
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: Y'all are equating having an internal monologue with thinking. But
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: an internal monologue or thinking in a scheme of words,
- 1:07:32Speaker 2: is just one type of thinking.
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: I have thoughts. I'm thinking all the time. I like
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: to think. I have a conscience in ethics. Lol.
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: I love that they said lol, because maybe.
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: It's someone who follows me and that's how they got here,
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: because that is definitely someone who know what they would say.
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: I think about the decisions I make. I just don't
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: think in words. It's not a voice. I think a picture, sensation, sounds, impulses, interesting, fascinating.
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: So it's just like a non literary brain. I don't know.
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: I don't know how to describe that. But anyway, a
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: thought doesn't occur to me in the language. It's a
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: single moment. Bam. Oh, I thought they meant Brooklyn Academy music.
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: Okay, maybe I'm the one with like a disrupted internal
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: monologue thought bam, another thought. It's really hard to describe
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: because again it's not thought in language, but I'm thinking constantly.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: I guess it's just like non right.
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: But I think we had talked about this the other day,
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: and I think that even if it's not an internal monologue, yeah,
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: if you are having images and such coming through your head,
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: I think it is a sort of internal monologue.
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: I think when we heard internal monologue, we thought of
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: just blank.
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: Space. I was worried that it's like in when when
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: they kill the last hor Crux and he goes to
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: the train station and it's all white. That's what I
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: thought it was, And now we're learning it's very no.
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: How could it be that because there was something going
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: on in the in the what was it was in
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: the train station. There was something going on.
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: There was no spoilers?
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: Oh sorry, do you know what I'm saying? So I
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: think that I just could not understand what is it
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: if you don't have an internal monologue, an internal voice, yeah,
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: or images or sounds or whatever what's happening. But there's
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: a lot happening.
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: Yeah, this person think critical thinking. They got a PhD
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: in literature. I was also pretty good math and science,
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: very visual thinker, and I tend to process thoughts internally,
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: not outloud. I'm a terble driver. But I don't think
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: it's like a minner monologue. Last point, it's a myth
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: that people without internal monologues can have anxiety, depression, or
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: other forms of mentalness, which is what I was hoping
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: for all of you, right. I sometimes hear from people, man,
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: I'm jealous. I yeah, but it's not empty up there.
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: It's full of be like everyone else. It just doesn't
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: come to me as a voice. It's like images. Oh interesting, okay.
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: But I but again, I think that just because it's
- 1:10:07Speaker 2: not a voice like chatter chatter chatter, right, the fact
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: that there are images, it's like a flip book, right, yeah,
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: which is not the same but parallel.
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: Yeah right, yeah. What about synesthesia? Have you heard of this? Okay,
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: it's when it's not in our notes. But it's like
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: when people hear music, they like see the color purple. Oh,
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: it's like a mental condition. I don't think it's like
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: a disorder. I think it's like just a mental condition.
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: Are they like taste something when they hear music or
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: they just have like their senses are just like connected
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: in a different way.
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: So right in, if you have.
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: Synesthesia, and explain it to me, because I do think
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: I'm getting it wrong.
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: Okay, So I was going to say so that if
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: you are so, if you're in a concert.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: Yeah, like it only splotches of different colors.
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: There's just a lot. There's just so much. It is
- 1:11:02Speaker 2: so hard to be alive.
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: You have sent a sizah and you look at the
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: reflecting pool and do you see what color? Do you see.
- 1:11:11Speaker 2: Or do you hear music when you see the algae? Like?
- 1:11:15Speaker 2: And what is it? Is it like creepy music?
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: What did they say about the algae and the reflection pool?
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: It's the first president to get outsmarted by a single
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: cell organism. God, oh, we got them all right. We
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: made the camera guy's lab. Let's get out of here. Okay,
