Speaker 4: The guy known as the West Virginia Pickle Guy at
2:42
Speaker 4: Troy Stiffler. He joins us via the Guarantee Bank scotline.
2:46
Speaker 4: Troy will say good morning to you to start with
2:48
Speaker 4: good morning, sir, welcome to the show.
2:50
Speaker 5: Good morning guys. It's glad to be on here and
2:52
Speaker 5: looking for a great event this weekend.
2:54
Speaker 4: Okay, I got to ask you, how does one acquire
2:57
Speaker 4: the title of the West Virginia Pickle guy.
3:00
Speaker 5: Oh gosh, it started four years ago. I had this
3:03
Speaker 5: idea about creating a pickle company with lots of different flavors.
3:09
Speaker 5: We were in the beef turkey business for a long time.
3:12
Speaker 5: I owned all the beef turkey alet stores throughout West
3:14
Speaker 5: Virginia and South Carolina, and I knew the flavors that
3:18
Speaker 5: would sell. And I told my wife one day, I said,
3:20
Speaker 5: I have an idea of these pickles. It's one to
3:23
Speaker 5: one hundred of people who enjoy them. And I started
3:25
Speaker 5: putting the flavors together, and four years later it's created
3:28
Speaker 5: the Trantosaurus Wreck.
3:32
Speaker 4: So we see you at a lot of different fairs
3:34
Speaker 4: and festivals in and around the state of West Virginia.
3:36
Speaker 4: What is it about the What is it about pickles
3:38
Speaker 4: that fascinated you so much?
3:39
Speaker 6: Oh?
3:40
Speaker 4: Other than just a business opportunity? Had to be more
3:42
Speaker 4: to it than that.
3:43
Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, there was more than that. You know, everybody
3:46
Speaker 5: loves pickles, and that's when I looked for business ventures.
3:49
Speaker 5: I look for something that has a large audience. And
3:52
Speaker 5: if you look at who enjoys pickles. It's from small
3:54
Speaker 5: children to ninety year old men, and you know, there's
3:58
Speaker 5: a love for that out there. And fortunately I've got
4:01
Speaker 5: into it right when the pickle craze has taken off,
4:04
Speaker 5: and you know they do pickled potato chips, pickled ice cream,
4:07
Speaker 5: pickleed Sherbert, I mean, anything you could pickle, they are
4:10
Speaker 5: doing it right now, and it's just been amazing. The
4:13
Speaker 5: state has supported us tremendously. I mean we've been shipping
4:17
Speaker 5: to all fifty states and it's just been an honor
4:20
Speaker 5: to do what I do here in the beautiful state
4:22
Speaker 5: of West Virginia.
4:23
Speaker 4: Now, Sean, what was it about this that appealed to
4:25
Speaker 4: you guys with the city of South Charleston and the
4:27
Speaker 4: farmers market to want to do this.
4:28
Speaker 7: Well, so we kind of see, you know in other
4:30
Speaker 7: states as there's the pickle fest are very big there.
4:34
Speaker 7: And I actually went and visited Picklesburg, which is up
4:37
Speaker 7: in Pittsburgh a couple of weeks ago. I've been there, Yeah,
4:40
Speaker 7: and there was every bit of four or five thousand
4:41
Speaker 7: people there. Yeah. So you know, one day we were
4:44
Speaker 7: just sitting there and you know, the pickle guy was
4:46
Speaker 7: s up at the market. We just we just kind
4:48
Speaker 7: of decided to do.
4:48
Speaker 4: It, and so give us all the details. What's going
4:51
Speaker 4: to be going on over there, Sean.
4:53
Speaker 7: Yes, So it's this weekend Saturday, its nine to six,
4:56
Speaker 7: Sundys eleven to five, and we have about a a
5:00
Speaker 7: little bit over twenty pickle themed vendors there. So we'll
5:04
Speaker 7: have pickle you know, the different flavor, pickles, baked pickle,
5:08
Speaker 7: baked goods. There's pickled cheese balls. There's just gonna be
5:11
Speaker 7: a little bit of everything.
5:12
Speaker 4: He's right, I mean, the pickle Guy's right, Troy. When
5:15
Speaker 4: you talk about the pickle craze right now, I thought
5:17
Speaker 4: I'd seen it all, but then, you know, several months
5:20
Speaker 4: ago I saw for the first time Peraps blue Ribbon
5:22
Speaker 4: pickle flavor and I said, Okay, that may be a
5:24
Speaker 4: bridge too far.
5:26
Speaker 5: Yeah, that pickle beer. We did an event with that
5:28
Speaker 5: Greenbrier Valley Brewery there just a few months ago and
5:31
Speaker 5: they introduced their pickle sour beer and that's amazing. But
5:35
Speaker 5: it's everything I mean, and it is I don't see
5:38
Speaker 5: no import in the future. And I think the event
5:41
Speaker 5: that we're going to have in Charleston this year for
5:43
Speaker 5: the first time in South Charleston. Then they've got a
5:46
Speaker 5: special venue there. The great thing about the South Charleston
5:49
Speaker 5: Farmers Marketer is they've got a core of great people
5:52
Speaker 5: that set up there all the time that are great vendors,
5:54
Speaker 5: great people just trying to work hard. And it's just
5:58
Speaker 5: an awesome facility. It's easy to get to and I
6:01
Speaker 5: think this is just another way adding a special event
6:04
Speaker 5: to bring people out. If you're not busy this weekend,
6:06
Speaker 5: come out and try it. It's free to get in.
6:08
Speaker 5: They're asking for a donation for local charitable organization, and
6:12
Speaker 5: you know what better way kid friendly pickles. You can't
6:16
Speaker 5: beat it.
6:17
Speaker 4: And Seohan, you were telling me that you know there
6:19
Speaker 4: is a chance of rains we talked about in the
6:21
Speaker 4: forecast on Saturday, So the event's still going to go on.
6:24
Speaker 4: You just might have to move some things around a
6:25
Speaker 4: little bit. Comes on Sunday.
6:27
Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
6:27
Speaker 4: That looked like a better chance of rain is Sunday
6:29
Speaker 4: than Saturday, so you may have to move some things
6:30
Speaker 4: around a little bit, but you're still going to.
6:32
Speaker 2: Have this, Yes, yes, all right.
6:34
Speaker 4: I want to ask you, Troy, about what exactly goes
6:38
Speaker 4: into making good pickles. I mean, I don't want you
6:41
Speaker 4: to give away your trade secrets. Okay, but I mean,
6:44
Speaker 4: you know, everybody's grandma made pickles, maybe not like you do,
6:47
Speaker 4: not to that, not to that extent, But what is
6:50
Speaker 4: it that makes good pickles?
6:52
Speaker 2: What's your what's your what's your story behind it?
6:55
Speaker 5: You know, there's all kinds of different pickles, and we
6:57
Speaker 5: chose to do a Colebrian pickle. And I think it's
7:00
Speaker 5: starts with, you know, a fresh cucumber that's right at
7:03
Speaker 5: that crispy point, and to make sure that they're sold
7:07
Speaker 5: right when they're fresh and ready. So if you've tasted
7:09
Speaker 5: our pickles, we do about fifty different flavors in our line.
7:12
Speaker 5: Now this weekend we'll have about twenty two different flavors
7:16
Speaker 5: with us. And most importantly is is that crunch. And
7:19
Speaker 5: so when you bite into that pickle, if it's not crunching,
7:22
Speaker 5: you know, we've all had our grandma pickles where worth
7:24
Speaker 5: candom over the years and they're soggy, Not to say
7:27
Speaker 5: that they're terrible, but yeah, one hundred percent when you
7:30
Speaker 5: have that nice crisp crunch, and that's what makes it,
7:34
Speaker 5: you know, And the other part of it is is
7:36
Speaker 5: having a large variety of flavors. You know how many
7:38
Speaker 5: different flavors. Well have cherry kool Aid sour blue Raspberry
7:42
Speaker 5: this weekend, Bloody Mary, Slap your mama?
7:45
Speaker 2: What does to slap your mama?
7:46
Speaker 1: Troy?
7:46
Speaker 2: I got to ask, what does to slap your mama?
7:48
Speaker 5: Well, slap your Mama is a creole seizing from Louisiana
7:51
Speaker 5: that I as spicy ol Bay. It's a really great flavor.
7:55
Speaker 5: Another fan favorite we just I'm actually in the pickle
7:58
Speaker 5: warehouse right now. We're working on it is our brown
8:01
Speaker 5: sugar bourbon, our pineapple have a narrow and so these
8:04
Speaker 5: are all signature flavors that I've worked diligently to get
8:07
Speaker 5: the recipes correctly, and they come out really well.
8:11
Speaker 4: I mean it almost sounds like the flavors of pickles
8:14
Speaker 4: mirror wings, you know, because all those ones that you mentioned,
8:17
Speaker 4: they also make wings like that. What is the most
8:20
Speaker 4: exotic one that you make?
8:23
Speaker 5: Oh my gosh, it would have to be in the
8:27
Speaker 5: kool Aid flavors. I mean, we do a we did
8:30
Speaker 5: for you know, we know it's apple season coming up,
8:33
Speaker 5: and so this weekend we did a sour apple, a
8:38
Speaker 5: sour green apple, and I tasted it yesterday and I
8:40
Speaker 5: couldn't believe how good diditate really?
8:42
Speaker 4: Okay, now see, I'm a fan of the spicy pickles.
8:45
Speaker 2: My wife and I both like those.
8:47
Speaker 4: I like the spice, and you know, I don't want
8:49
Speaker 4: to like, I'm not gonna go all Carolina Reaper or
8:51
Speaker 4: anything like that, but I do like a little heat.
8:54
Speaker 4: I'm sure you offer plenty of those.
8:55
Speaker 5: Oh yeah, we have all kinds of spicy. My personal
8:58
Speaker 5: favorite probably in the line ranches, our most popular and
9:01
Speaker 5: our number one sellar. But my personal favorite is probably
9:04
Speaker 5: our sweet Horse radish. And it's a nice sweet savory
9:08
Speaker 5: with some spice on the back end. It's great for
9:10
Speaker 5: burger steak sandwiches. We make spicy chicken salad with it.
9:14
Speaker 5: So there's lots of different pairings you can do with
9:16
Speaker 5: our pickles too, So that makes it need. We've done weddings,
9:20
Speaker 5: all kind of different stuff with our pickles.
9:22
Speaker 4: Well, I will say this, this is a little culinary
9:26
Speaker 4: hint from my wife and I use a lot when
9:28
Speaker 4: we make tuna salad, chicken salad, anything like that little
9:32
Speaker 4: pickle juice, and especially the spicy kind. It gives a nice,
9:37
Speaker 4: a nice little zin.
9:38
Speaker 5: Yeah, we have our pickle. We will have our pickle
9:40
Speaker 5: juice on site this year. That was one of our
9:43
Speaker 5: goals for our two thousand and six it's to bottle
9:46
Speaker 5: our pickle Brian. We got a lot of requests for
9:48
Speaker 5: pickle juice, So this weekend we'll have our classic excuse me,
9:52
Speaker 5: our Classic Deal, our deal lemonade, and our Bloody Marry
9:56
Speaker 5: pickle juice will be on hand this weekend at the Pickle.
9:58
Speaker 2: Festival and Sean who are some of the the vendors
10:00
Speaker 2: are going to be there.
10:01
Speaker 7: So we actually have one come from Ohio. It's called
10:03
Speaker 7: the Crazy Cucumber. They're normally set up at the Hunting
10:06
Speaker 7: and Fishing Show, so they'll be there as well, with
10:09
Speaker 7: about fifteen to twenty different pickle flavors as well, and
10:12
Speaker 7: then we have them coming from Fayette County with pickle
10:16
Speaker 7: cheese balls. Then a lot of our core vendors there
10:19
Speaker 7: will also be offering things like super Weeny. He's gonna
10:22
Speaker 7: offer a pickle theme hot dog, so he'll be offering that.
10:25
Speaker 7: Are our meat vendor is going to offer a pickle
10:28
Speaker 7: Brought Worst Pickle Brought.
10:30
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a new one.
10:31
Speaker 5: Yeah.
10:32
Speaker 7: So there's going to be about twenty twenty one vendors
10:35
Speaker 7: there will have pickle theme items.
10:37
Speaker 4: And there's but if you're not into pickles, number one,
10:39
Speaker 4: you're a communist. But but if you're not into pickles,
10:42
Speaker 4: there are other things there too. I mean your other
10:45
Speaker 4: regular vendors are going to.
10:46
Speaker 2: Be there too. Yes, they'll be there.
10:47
Speaker 7: They'll also offer I mean they're gonna they're gonna for
10:49
Speaker 7: pickle bait goods, but they also have their other they're
10:52
Speaker 7: not regular bait goods as well.
10:53
Speaker 2: And you got music. You said you have music, and
10:55
Speaker 2: you got stuff for the kids.
10:56
Speaker 8: So yeah, the kids owned.
10:57
Speaker 4: It's going to be a great, a great time. It's
10:59
Speaker 4: a Saturday night, a six pm Sunday, eleven til five. Hey,
11:02
Speaker 4: Pickle Guy, Troy, It's been a pleasure having you on
11:04
Speaker 4: the show today. Can't wait to see you this weekend.
11:06

11:09
Speaker 5: stay crunchy, stay crunchy.

11:15
Speaker 4: to have you on the show. Now, this is your
11:18

11:20
Speaker 4: things going on, Like every weekend, there's something big going
11:23
Speaker 4: on at the farmers Market. And with the City of

15:33
Speaker 4: Center Facebook page. Next Wednesday, the twenty twenty six West
15:37
Speaker 4: Virginia Disability Resource Fair is going to be held eleven
15:39
Speaker 4: to one, fourteen eighteen mccorkill Avenue, Southwestern charlest Anita Hobbs,
15:44
Speaker 4: who is the CEO and Executive director of the West
15:47
Speaker 4: Virginia Association of Rehabilitation Facilities, joins us in the studios
15:51
Speaker 4: and Share Construction studios.
15:52
Speaker 2: This morning, Good morning, welcome to the show.
15:53
Speaker 6: Glad to be here.
15:54
Speaker 2: Tell us what are you got going on that day?
15:57
Speaker 6: Yeah, we have a Disability Resource Fair. This is our
16:00
Speaker 6: third year that we're doing it. We actually have two
16:03
Speaker 6: going on on that day. We have one here in
16:05
Speaker 6: Charleston and one Up and Wheeling. So what we're doing
16:09
Speaker 6: is we are connecting people with disabilities with what resources
16:13
Speaker 6: we have in the area. So whether it's their families,
16:16
Speaker 6: their caregivers, you know, or the individuals themselves looking for
16:20
Speaker 6: what can I do? So my organization we special and
16:23
Speaker 6: specialize in helping people find a job, but we often
16:26
Speaker 6: find that employment's just the start, right life is the journey.
16:29
Speaker 6: So we are bringing together twenty five exhibitors from around
16:32
Speaker 6: the Charleston area and their organizations wo provide things like benefits, counseling,
16:38
Speaker 6: financial counseling, music therapy, traveling with the disability, vacation support,
16:44
Speaker 6: things like that. So we are really taking the great
16:48
Speaker 6: organizations that we have here in the Charleston area and
16:51
Speaker 6: hosting this free event to show our community what we've
16:54
Speaker 6: got going on and what resources they have.
16:56
Speaker 4: What's the biggest misconception that you all deal with with
16:59
Speaker 4: folks with with disabilities.
17:01
Speaker 6: Definitely what constitutes a disability? Right, So we all see
17:05
Speaker 6: visible disabilities, but disability can be a wide range of things.
17:09
Speaker 6: Substance use disorder here in West Virginia is a big one,
17:12
Speaker 6: of course, that's considered a disability anxiety, diabetes, So a
17:17
Speaker 6: lot of times somebody might be dealing with a disability
17:20
Speaker 6: and you don't even know. Partial hearing loss can be
17:23
Speaker 6: a disability. So it's really just thinking about, you know,
17:27
Speaker 6: not the disability as you know, some strange thing out here,
17:31
Speaker 6: and realizing that your friends, your neighbors, your family, most
17:34
Speaker 6: people have a disability here in West Virginia, and we
17:36
Speaker 6: have the highest rate of disability in the nation. One
17:39
Speaker 6: in three of our community members have a disability, so
17:43
Speaker 6: really in three, one in three, one in three. Yeah,
17:47
Speaker 6: it's huge. And then we also have the highest rate
17:49
Speaker 6: of unemployment in the nation of those people with disabilities.
17:54
Speaker 6: So that's of course where my nonprofit comes in. We're like, hey,
17:57
Speaker 6: we've got these people who want to work. There's a
17:59
Speaker 6: job shortage or a worker shortage crisis out there. Let's
18:03
Speaker 6: go ahead and let's let's get people jobs and put
18:06
Speaker 6: people who want to work to work.
18:07
Speaker 4: And they can do so many different things. I mean,
18:10
Speaker 4: is there there's no limit as to what these folks
18:11
Speaker 4: can do, right.
18:12
Speaker 6: Yeah, And that's another misconception that's a good point to
18:15
Speaker 6: bring up. Sometimes employers think that, you know, hiring somebody
18:19
Speaker 6: with a disability might be really expensive, you know, in
18:22
Speaker 6: terms of accommodations, you know, or a big investment. A
18:26
Speaker 6: lot of times it's just shifting your training a little bit.
18:29
Speaker 6: And so most of the accommodations to be able to
18:31
Speaker 6: employ somebody with a disability, there's no cost at all.
18:34
Speaker 6: It's just kind of helping your staff understand, you know, hey,
18:38
Speaker 6: they might need a little bit more instruction or approach
18:41
Speaker 6: this task a little bit differently. So, yeah, it's definitely
18:45
Speaker 6: capable workers out there who really want to contribute to
18:47
Speaker 6: the community.
18:48
Speaker 4: Talk about the partnerships with the businesses because that is
18:51
Speaker 4: so important that you have some you know, some businesses
18:54
Speaker 4: that are willing to step because I mean, somebody's got
18:56
Speaker 4: somebody's got to write to pay checks, you know what
18:57
Speaker 4: I mean to talk about those partnerships with businesses, Now,
19:00
Speaker 4: how important there.
19:00
Speaker 6: Yeah, So I work with twenty three nonprofits across the
19:03
Speaker 6: state who employ people with disabilities. I help them do
19:07
Speaker 6: business with state agencies. So we're out there more than
19:10
Speaker 6: you think. We do janitorial and grounds maintenance at rest areas.
19:14
Speaker 6: We have wood shops that make survey stakes for the
19:17
Speaker 6: Departments of Highways. We do water cooler delivery. Really if
19:22
Speaker 6: there is a product or a service that we're able
19:24
Speaker 6: to provide, we do it and we put our people
19:28
Speaker 6: to work. So those are the organizations that I really
19:31
Speaker 6: try to empower and make sure that we are highlighting
19:34
Speaker 6: everything that they are able to do. So they specialize
19:38
Speaker 6: and we call it vocational rehabilitation and basically all that
19:42
Speaker 6: means is employment support. So it's not just getting someone
19:45
Speaker 6: a job, but it's also making sure that they have
19:49
Speaker 6: the little things that they need to be successful. And
19:52
Speaker 6: it can be so much as Okay, I have a paycheck,
19:55
Speaker 6: Now what do I do with it? So wv able
19:58
Speaker 6: is a great partner. They're a savings account to help
20:01
Speaker 6: you know, people navigate maybe I want to keep my
20:05
Speaker 6: Social Security benefits or maybe I want to get off
20:07
Speaker 6: my Social Security benefits. How do I have a savings account?
20:09
Speaker 6: And how do I navigate that?
20:11
Speaker 2: Talking with Anita Hobbs again, but Dave Island Show on
20:14
Speaker 2: five Any Line is bron to you in part by
20:16
Speaker 2: Mortgadive Morgan with more than twenty billion dollars recovered.
20:19
Speaker 4: They believe that when you're injured, you deserve more. Morgative Morgan,
20:21
Speaker 4: America's largest injury law firm, and you know, I in
20:25
Speaker 4: a past life in state government worked in our office.
20:29
Speaker 4: There was a gentleman that came in, you know, to
20:32
Speaker 4: do some of the janitorial services and whatever. And he
20:35
Speaker 4: was someone that would kind of fall into this category
20:39
Speaker 4: with tell him a couple of times, you know, you
20:42
Speaker 4: don't really need to work so hard A typical state
20:46
Speaker 4: government employee by the way, No, he was, but I
20:49
Speaker 4: mean we would say, you know, and I won't mention
20:52
Speaker 4: the gentleman's name, but he would come in and he
20:54
Speaker 4: cleaned our office whatever. We would say, you know, we
20:56
Speaker 4: really appreciate everything you're doing, but we don't need to
20:59
Speaker 4: do this every time. And he just wanted And my
21:01
Speaker 4: point in saying all this is he just wanted to
21:03
Speaker 4: do a good job.
21:05
Speaker 6: Yeah, we find that a lot of our individuals. So
21:08
Speaker 6: the organizations that you might be familiar with here in
21:10
Speaker 6: Charleston would be Goodwill of the Summit, sw Resources and
21:14
Speaker 6: Job Squad, So they were probably employing that worker who
21:18
Speaker 6: you're talking about. And there's so much pride there right
21:21
Speaker 6: working at the Capital Complex, I get to go into
21:24
Speaker 6: Building one and make sure that it's beautiful for all
21:27
Speaker 6: of the visitors who come to West Virginia. And get
21:30
Speaker 6: a good impression of our state. So there's definitely a
21:33
Speaker 6: lot of pride and enthusiasm there. And I actually have
21:36
Speaker 6: a funny story if you want to hear about one
21:38
Speaker 6: of our workers at the Capitol Complex. So my contract
21:41
Speaker 6: manager was doing a scope of work. So you know,
21:44
Speaker 6: you do things every year you have to redo the contract,
21:47
Speaker 6: and sometimes it's counting trash cans, right, because you're making
21:50
Speaker 6: sure that you've got all the t's crossed and i's
21:54
Speaker 6: dotted and all of that. So he goes through this
21:56
Speaker 6: big building and counts all the trash cans and is
21:59
Speaker 6: talking to the gentleman who does the janitorial work there
22:02
Speaker 6: who happened to have autism, and so you know, he says, okay,
22:05
Speaker 6: well there's one hundred and twenty trash cans total, and
22:09
Speaker 6: the individual says, no, there's one hundred and twenty one.
22:12
Speaker 6: And my contract worker says, well, I don't know. I
22:16
Speaker 6: just went through and counted them all. And so then
22:17
Speaker 6: they went floor by a floor. Okay, well on floor one,
22:21
Speaker 6: I've had this many and they went through and checked
22:23
Speaker 6: them and sure enough, my employee had miscounted how many
22:26
Speaker 6: trash cans there were. So that's the kind of level
22:29
Speaker 6: of investment and enthusiasm that we're talking about whenever you
22:32
Speaker 6: just give somebody an opportunity.
22:34
Speaker 4: And at this event, and again it's fourteen eighteen and
22:37
Speaker 4: mccorcyl Avenue Southes.
22:38
Speaker 2: What is that building?
22:39
Speaker 6: I mean, yeah, so it's Job Squad. They do mail
22:42
Speaker 6: fulfillment service and warehousing and it is in that same
22:46
Speaker 6: complex with the Captain Holsteines in it.
22:48
Speaker 10: Okayh yeah, yeah.
22:49
Speaker 4: So everybody just want to make sure West Virginia sometimes
22:51
Speaker 4: we're not big on addresses yet it's where Long John
22:54
Speaker 4: Silver's used to be.
22:54
Speaker 2: Or something like that.
22:55
Speaker 4: That's the kind of thing. So everybody knows where Captain
22:57
Speaker 4: hol Stage is. So I want to ature people do
22:59
Speaker 4: where was Do they need to sign up ahead of time?
23:01
Speaker 4: As far as to a tend, I mean not to
23:03
Speaker 4: be a vendor, but to a tend, Yeah.
23:05
Speaker 15: Not to attend.
23:06
Speaker 6: We've got information on Facebook, so you know you can
23:08
Speaker 6: go and double check. It's August fifth, eleven to one.
23:12
Speaker 6: There is free food there, so come have a little
23:14
Speaker 6: working lunch, meet some good exhibitors, learn about what you
23:17
Speaker 6: can do for you and your family, but definitely don't
23:20
Speaker 6: have to RSVP ahead of time.
23:21
Speaker 2: What about the exhibitors. Are you still accepting exhibitors.
23:24
Speaker 6: Or we are all full? So we were, like I said,
23:27
Speaker 6: it's a warehouse space. So we headroom for twenty five exhibitors,
23:30
Speaker 6: and we are fully booked here in Charleston, and we
23:33
Speaker 6: have ten exhibitors up in the Wheeling location. So definitely,
23:36
Speaker 6: wherever you are in West Virginia, we've got a good
23:39
Speaker 6: event for you to come see. So if you are
23:41
Speaker 6: an exhibitor who is interested, keep an eye out for
23:44
Speaker 6: next year and we'll make sure to get you on
23:45
Speaker 6: the list.
23:46
Speaker 4: What about you talked about some of the larger businesses
23:50
Speaker 4: here in Charleton, What do you need from them? I
23:53
Speaker 4: mean if they maybe they just want information, maybe they're
23:55
Speaker 4: not able to attend this event. Do you can you
23:57
Speaker 4: go with your group? Can you set down at SO
24:00
Speaker 4: with a larger employer and say, look, will you think
24:02
Speaker 4: we may able to help you.
24:03
Speaker 2: Is that's something that you do?
24:04
Speaker 7: Oh?
24:05
Speaker 6: Yes, of course. We call that competitive integrated employment. And
24:09
Speaker 6: all of that means is that we are taking people
24:12
Speaker 6: who might work at our great organizations like Job Squad
24:16
Speaker 6: or Goodwill, and then we work with big businesses in
24:19
Speaker 6: the community like Giant Eagle and we place people to
24:22
Speaker 6: work there. So definitely, if you're a business here in
24:25
Speaker 6: Western or excuse me, in Charleston and you are struggling
24:29
Speaker 6: to find employees, we probably have somebody that we could
24:32
Speaker 6: help you out. So we're always open to partnerships. You
24:35
Speaker 6: can reach out to my organization which is Wharf throw
24:38
Speaker 6: At Western Association of Rehabilitation Facilities or Job Squad where
24:42
Speaker 6: the event is hosted.
24:44
Speaker 4: All right, give us the Facebook page and I know
24:47
Speaker 4: you just did it, but I want to make sure
24:48
Speaker 4: people know where they can get the information on social media.
24:51
Speaker 5: Yep.
24:51
Speaker 6: So it is the twenty twenty six Disability Resource Fair.
24:56
Speaker 6: Southern location is where you will find.
24:59
Speaker 4: You will find that located at this event is going
25:01
Speaker 4: to be from eleven to one. And you said there's
25:03
Speaker 4: going to be lunch provided fourteen eighteen mccorkyl Avenue, Southwest
25:07
Speaker 4: and in the same complex here where Captain Holsetin is
25:10
Speaker 4: here in Charleston.
25:12
Speaker 2: And I think it's great that you're doing this.
25:13
Speaker 4: I mean, really do hats off to you and your
25:15
Speaker 4: organization for doing this, and so it's really good works,
25:18
Speaker 4: very important work as well.
25:19
Speaker 6: Thank you. There's so many resources out there. We just
25:21
Speaker 6: want to show people what Charleston has to offer.
25:23
Speaker 4: All right, it is all again Next Wednesday, August the fifth,

Speaker 4: that mail So looking forward to seeing everybody up there,
29:57
Speaker 4: getting ready to talk a little Mountain here football with
29:59
Speaker 4: Inside Huddle. That event is coming up next week, and
30:03
Speaker 4: just was putting together some information. If you're a Herd fan,
30:07
Speaker 4: and again you can be fans of both, let's keep
30:10
Speaker 4: that in mind. The Paint the Capital City Green event
30:13
Speaker 4: is going to be happening in Charleston up at the
30:17
Speaker 4: West Virginia International Jaeger Airport at the bill No Flight
30:20
Speaker 4: School and that is going to be happening toward the
30:23
Speaker 4: end of August, and so I was kind of putting
30:26
Speaker 4: together some information about that. So we'll be giving you
30:29
Speaker 4: that information on that coming up. Maybe on tomorrow show,
30:31
Speaker 4: I'll get some more info on that. That's always a
30:33
Speaker 4: big event. It sells out every year, and so we're
30:36
Speaker 4: looking forward to seeing everybody up there for that coming

Speaker 4: happening next week in Charleston. We'll get into that. State
30:54
Speaker 4: Republican Party Chair Josh Holstein is going to stop by.
30:56
Speaker 4: The question remains and there's so many nuanced to this
31:01
Speaker 4: sort of thing about the Elliott print situation, the delegate
31:03
Speaker 4: from Fayette County who resigned from office but did not
31:07
Speaker 4: resign on the ballots and what's going to happen with that.
31:10
Speaker 4: I know Secretary of State Chris Warner has weighed in
31:13
Speaker 4: on that, and so it's there's so many different things
31:19
Speaker 4: that go into this. It's not as simple as what
31:21
Speaker 4: you might think. So, we'll talk to Josh Holstein about that.
31:25
Speaker 4: So of cooks from the Wheeling Chamber of Commerce are
31:27
Speaker 4: going to stop in and we're going to head down south,
31:30
Speaker 4: down to my homeland, down to Logan County talk to
31:33

32:00
Speaker 4: from the Connal Charleston Humane Association will stop by with
32:02
Speaker 4: this week's Adopt Me Please Pet of the Week, brought
32:04
Speaker 4: to you by Almost Having Interiors. Jim Strawn will stop
32:07
Speaker 4: by the studio tomorrow because tomorrow is the final Live
32:10
Speaker 4: on the Levee of the season, made a decision a
32:14
Speaker 4: couple of years ago to wrap it up a little
32:16
Speaker 4: bit early, and tomorrow there is it's a basically a
32:19
Speaker 4: Taylor Swift tribute that's going to be held tomorrow. Jim
32:22
Speaker 4: Bow's got all the information. He'll join us coming up
32:24
Speaker 4: on the show tomorrow. I did want to throw this
32:26
Speaker 4: out there. There was a post and I'm going to
32:28
Speaker 4: get into this tomorrow with Angie gilen Water from the
32:30
Speaker 4: Connal Charleston Humane Association. But they did a post on
32:34
Speaker 4: social media and I think it was maybe Tuesday or
32:39
Speaker 4: I saw it yesterday morning, and they they they're having
32:43
Speaker 4: this issue up there with people just dropping off animals
32:48
Speaker 4: at the shelter, and she posted a picture of there
32:52
Speaker 4: were some dogs and cats that were just left in
32:54
Speaker 4: cages at the shelter. This is a good and a
32:58
Speaker 4: bad thing at the same time. On one hand, you're
33:01
Speaker 4: trying to do the right thing. We realize that by
33:08
Speaker 4: by by bringing them to the shelter. But on the
33:10
Speaker 4: other hand, if you just drop them off in the
33:12
Speaker 4: middle of the night and you have a have them
33:15
Speaker 4: in a cage and people don't know where they came from,
33:17
Speaker 4: what their medical history is, there's just got to be
33:21
Speaker 4: a better way to do it.
33:21
Speaker 3: Again.
33:22
Speaker 4: It's kind of a double edged sword. Yeah, you took
33:24
Speaker 4: it to the shelter, but not during their hours of operation,
33:28
Speaker 4: so the staff couldn't come out and ask you questions, Well,
33:31
Speaker 4: you know, why are you surrendering this dog or cat?
33:34
Speaker 4: Does it have its vaccines?
33:36
Speaker 2: Do you?
33:36
Speaker 4: I mean, there's just so many different questions that go
33:39
Speaker 4: into that, and uh so I want to get into
33:42
Speaker 4: that with Angie coming up on the show tomorrow. We're
33:46
Speaker 4: still waiting on our friends from the West Virginia Lottery,
33:48
Speaker 4: so I don't know where they are, but as soon
33:51
Speaker 4: as as we get them, uh, we'll bring them in studio.
33:54
Speaker 16: All R.
33:54
Speaker 2: Ryan, We're gonna have to pivot here for this a
33:56
Speaker 2: little bit, so we're gonna take the commercial break early
33:58
Speaker 2: and we'll see if we can round up our lottery
34:00
Speaker 2: folks when we come back on the Voice of Charleston WCCHS.

36:45
Speaker 4: have our good friends carry blanket chip of Katie Smith Briggs.
36:47
Speaker 4: I'm getting used to the hyphenation on you on your
36:51
Speaker 4: name there.
36:51
Speaker 15: Katie, So that's right, I'm still getting used to it.
36:54
Speaker 2: Well, your email I think still says Smith.
36:57
Speaker 15: It says Katie Smith, and then below it is in
36:59
Speaker 15: my signature, says Katie Smith Briggs. Because if we change
37:02
Speaker 15: it like it t it's this whole thing.
37:05
Speaker 2: Oh, I know, I know, how I you know?
37:06
Speaker 15: Plus, I mean I kind of like being a Smith.
37:08
Speaker 15: I kind of like being one of forty jillion people.
37:11
Speaker 15: So you know, what's.
37:12
Speaker 2: Your title with the lottery what you're doing, I'm.
37:15
Speaker 15: The public relations and drawling.
37:16
Speaker 22: Manager and carry what is your title with Lenny Promotions manager?
37:20
Speaker 2: Okay?
37:20
Speaker 4: And uh, you know it looks like you two may
37:23
Speaker 4: have had like a little fallen out with each other.
37:24
Speaker 2: I mean, did you have to break your leg?
37:26
Speaker 22: Carry on, we're both driving. I need I need two
37:29
Speaker 22: knee replacements. Okay, and she we don't know what's wrong.
37:33
Speaker 15: With We don't know.
37:34
Speaker 22: You know, I'm going to call you in the office
37:36
Speaker 22: now because she has a wheelchair. We can do down
37:37
Speaker 22: here to the studio.
37:40
Speaker 4: I think it's that Pittsburgh Pirates gear you're wearing. I
37:43
Speaker 4: think I think that's what the problem.
37:44
Speaker 15: They call me missus hawking.
37:46
Speaker 22: I think I can hear her humming down the hallwaylir.
37:49
Speaker 2: I think if we got you some Reds gear, you'ld
37:51
Speaker 2: be much better.
37:52
Speaker 15: Yeah, way, you got me Reds gear, I would not
37:55
Speaker 15: even be able to move either knee. All right, now,
37:57
Speaker 15: I can move one knee.
37:58
Speaker 2: I'm turning your mic off, Carrie.
38:00
Speaker 5: Yeah.
38:01
Speaker 4: So you guys did a release yesterday and it was
38:05
Speaker 4: about the recent successes of the West Virginia Lottery. I mean,
38:08
Speaker 4: it's it's been a good it's been a good year.
38:10
Speaker 4: It's been good several years, but I mean specifically, this
38:13
Speaker 4: year's been really good.
38:14
Speaker 15: It was really good. It was one I think it
38:16
Speaker 15: was one point three to three billion. I don't have
38:19
Speaker 15: my notes in front of me, but Yeah, it's been
38:22
Speaker 15: really a really good year. And you know, I can't
38:24
Speaker 15: wait to hear the final number, like to add to
38:27
Speaker 15: our like our transfers with our pro seeds and stuff,
38:30
Speaker 15: because it's been thirteen point seven billion since the lottery
38:33
Speaker 15: was created in nineteen eighty six, and so just happy
38:38
Speaker 15: to add to that.
38:39
Speaker 22: Well, I think all the things we've been doing for
38:41
Speaker 22: the fortieth and not to mention we've got we've had
38:43
Speaker 22: two we've had some big jackpot runs too, which doesn't hurt.
38:46
Speaker 10: Although we just got hit. Power Ball is still.
38:49
Speaker 15: Power Ball is at seven hundred and seven million somewhere.
38:52
Speaker 10: That's pretty gritting.
38:53
Speaker 4: Well, and that's the one I had want to reach
38:55
Speaker 4: out to you guys, I said, because I was noticing that,
38:58
Speaker 4: you know, the jackpots were starting to go up.
39:00
Speaker 2: A little bit.
39:01
Speaker 4: And uh and but one of the big jack possible hit,
39:04
Speaker 4: as you said, right.
39:04
Speaker 15: Mega millions was hit. It was hit at eight hundred
39:06
Speaker 15: million in Florida.
39:08
Speaker 10: So if it was a one ticket, I think it was.
39:10
Speaker 15: I think it was a single ticket that was one
39:13
Speaker 15: in Florida. And then we we've had we've had several
39:18
Speaker 15: winners actually, you know, in the last year. And this
39:21
Speaker 15: is actually a local draw game. It's called Cash twenty five.
39:23
Speaker 15: It's one of our interstate draw games. In the last year,
39:26
Speaker 15: we have had almost thirty people win the top prize
39:30
Speaker 15: in that which is twenty five thousand dollars. That is
39:33
Speaker 15: that is crazy and that's awesome.
39:35
Speaker 10: Good dogs, yeah too. And I mean it's it's a
39:37
Speaker 10: West Virginia game, so you're just.
39:39
Speaker 2: You're just playing against Western training against West Virginia. So
39:42
Speaker 2: what's what's new? What's a lot of you get any
39:45
Speaker 2: you guys get anything new coming up?
39:46
Speaker 15: Well, and you stay fair.
39:47
Speaker 2: That's right.
39:48
Speaker 10: Maybe we were in fair mode.
39:49
Speaker 4: Okay, that's that's coming up because Austin August is first,
39:53
Speaker 4: is what Saturday? So yeah, time to start to And
39:56
Speaker 4: you guys, as somebody who worked the State Fair when
39:59
Speaker 4: I was in state government for a number of years,
40:01
Speaker 4: I mean, you guys have a huge presence at the
40:03
Speaker 4: State Fair, I mean your own building and everything.
40:05
Speaker 22: Right, we do, and we're excited about it. We've got
40:08
Speaker 22: some changes that we've made this year and some things
40:12
Speaker 22: we're taking back to what we had done years ago,
40:15
Speaker 22: so back to our roots. We're doing a board game.
40:17
Speaker 22: We've we've changed up lottery Day get back to when
40:20
Speaker 22: I started twenty twenty nine summers ago, where we were
40:25
Speaker 22: just there for two days under a tent. You know,
40:27
Speaker 22: Now we're there the entire duration of the fair and
40:30
Speaker 22: we're doing a board game on Monday for a Lottery Day.
40:32
Speaker 2: Okay, okay. To explain how that's going to work.
40:34
Speaker 22: The Lotteropoly, Well, it's it's kind of a mix of
40:37
Speaker 22: Monopoly and shoot some ladders. Sorry, sorry, kind we just
40:43
Speaker 22: created on our own, but it's gonna be fun, Dave.
40:46
Speaker 22: If you want to come down on Monday and place.
40:48
Speaker 10: Welcome them.
40:49
Speaker 15: We got giant dice.
40:50
Speaker 22: Giant dice, you get to pick before you roll your dice,
40:53
Speaker 22: which road do you want to take the riskier road.
40:55
Speaker 10: Or Yeah, the lesson.
40:58
Speaker 2: Sounds like a lot of fun.
41:00
Speaker 10: I think we did.
41:03
Speaker 15: It was exciting because since I have been at the Lottery,
41:07
Speaker 15: our Lottery Day game has been this big giant iPad
41:11
Speaker 15: kind of like a plink O like drop and win.
41:13
Speaker 15: And this is fully literally getting back to you know,
41:17
Speaker 15: a board game and playing and stuff like that and
41:19
Speaker 15: extended play. And yes, and I kind of I'm kind
41:22
Speaker 15: of excited for that. You know, I know that some
41:26
Speaker 15: people are going to miss the drop and win and
41:28
Speaker 15: and the excitement with that. But this is just something
41:31
Speaker 15: different and I kind of feel like since we were
41:32
Speaker 15: doing our back to our roots that this was the
41:35
Speaker 15: perfect time to do.
41:36
Speaker 2: I think the old is new again as.
41:38
Speaker 22: The saying that we are bringing back our VP second
41:42
Speaker 22: chance drawing we do every day at the fair. So
41:44
Speaker 22: the way you get into that drawing is you win
41:46
Speaker 22: an entry on our prize wheel. And instead of us
41:49
Speaker 22: just drawing a name and saying congratulations you on this,
41:52
Speaker 22: the person they had to be present. But then they
41:54
Speaker 22: get to spin a big wheel, because that's the big thing.
41:57
Speaker 22: When I started the lottery, we had a you know,
41:59
Speaker 22: traditional feel, okay, and when we went to digital.
42:02
Speaker 10: We had a lot We had a lot of people
42:04
Speaker 10: that re upset about that.
42:05
Speaker 22: So they'll get to if they get selected, they get
42:06
Speaker 22: to spin a big, flashy wheel.
42:08
Speaker 10: I love that.
42:10
Speaker 22: Yeah, So I think it'd be fun and they can
42:11
Speaker 22: win concert tickets WVU or martial art law.
42:14
Speaker 4: Tickets and you know the things I've seen that you
42:18
Speaker 4: guys have done in the past. People love that old
42:21
Speaker 4: school kind of stuff too. They like the new stuff.
42:23
Speaker 4: But I mean when you you guys would put that
42:25
Speaker 4: wheel out there and you could spin the wheel and
42:27
Speaker 4: like every you know, there was a prize on everyone
42:29
Speaker 4: and I mean people, people love that.
42:30
Speaker 15: Twenty four slot.
42:31
Speaker 22: There's so I think that I think that they're gonna
42:36
Speaker 22: enjoy that. Plus visually it's fun to watch because we
42:39
Speaker 22: don't know what they're gonna win.
42:40
Speaker 15: And the best part is there's new fair food.
42:44
Speaker 10: Whether it's always new, always new Fair food.
42:46
Speaker 15: Are you a pickle fan? Yes, well they have like
42:49
Speaker 15: pickle pizza.
42:50
Speaker 10: I mean, well that's not new.
42:51
Speaker 15: But then they put Dorito's on pizza.
42:53
Speaker 22: Okay, yeah, there's okay, don't give any reasons to come
42:56
Speaker 22: to the fair day.
42:57
Speaker 4: Okay, well you have to talk to about the lottery
42:59
Speaker 4: and then off the air at that time, because I'm
43:02
Speaker 4: kind of on the airline.
43:03
Speaker 10: How about on Saturday, how about we do the show
43:05
Speaker 10: from the fair.
43:06
Speaker 2: Well, how about you just pay for it and we'll
43:07
Speaker 2: be right there perfect.
43:08
Speaker 10: Well, yeah, you can't make that decision a fair.
43:11
Speaker 2: Well, David Bradley's not here.
43:12
Speaker 4: All those I ever say, I I'm.
43:14
Speaker 2: Going to the fair, Ryan, We're going to the fair.
43:16
Speaker 2: That's I think we're going to State Fair.
43:19
Speaker 4: But you asked me about pickles the first part of
43:21
Speaker 4: the show today. You know, this weekend is the Almost
43:24
Speaker 4: having Pickle Festival at Almost in South Charleston Farmers Market.
43:30
Speaker 4: And the guy we had, mister, we had the West
43:32
Speaker 4: Virginia pickle guy on the show earlier. I mean he
43:36
Speaker 4: was telling me, I'm about all these different types of
43:37
Speaker 4: pickles that they've got there.
43:38
Speaker 15: Have you tasted your mama?
43:42
Speaker 4: Yeah, no I haven't, But we talked about it because
43:45
Speaker 4: when he started telling me that it was cajun, I said, yeah,
43:48
Speaker 4: that's me right there.
43:49
Speaker 2: I'm all about it.
43:50
Speaker 15: The bloody Mary pickles are.
43:52
Speaker 2: Are they good? Oh?
43:53
Speaker 14: Yes?
43:54
Speaker 2: He said? The biggest sellers are the kool Aid pickle.
43:56
Speaker 14: Yeah.
43:57
Speaker 15: I don't know how I felt that. Yeah, that's what
44:00
Speaker 15: he's doing, a new green apple cool aid or something.
44:02
Speaker 2: Yeah, you mentioned that. Okay, all right, we'll get away
44:05
Speaker 2: from pickles here for a moment. Now, that's right. Among
44:07
Speaker 2: You guys were on a tour sort of as earlier
44:12
Speaker 2: this year.
44:13
Speaker 4: I mean you went like all over I know some
44:14
Speaker 4: of a lot of our radio stations were involved in that.
44:18
Speaker 4: That was kind of a little celebration against the retro thing.
44:21
Speaker 4: You guys, what'd you call it again?
44:22
Speaker 15: You had to we're still on a day dog.
44:24
Speaker 10: We're still on the tour.
44:25
Speaker 2: We're just taking a little big dog.
44:27
Speaker 15: I did you want to be a little dog instead.
44:31
Speaker 22: Yeah, the tour is taking a pause for the fair
44:34
Speaker 22: and then because we just had two events this week
44:38
Speaker 22: in the Beckley and Princeton area, and then as soon
44:41
Speaker 22: as the fair wraps up, we're gonna be heading to
44:43
Speaker 22: Barbersville and Montgomery and Montgomery, and then the tour rolls
44:47
Speaker 22: on until October, so through October through October the end
44:50
Speaker 22: of October, right before Halloween.
44:52
Speaker 2: How was the tour.
44:54
Speaker 15: It's been great. I like it because we're getting to
44:56
Speaker 15: go to a lot of these smaller communities where you
45:00
Speaker 15: know this. So we went to Cowen, for example, we
45:03
Speaker 15: went to the Leslie's Walmart and that's like the only
45:06
Speaker 15: place to go in Collen for pretty much anything, and
45:09
Speaker 15: so that was kind.
45:09
Speaker 2: Of I've been there, yep.
45:11
Speaker 15: Yeah, and uh, I used to go to church camp
45:13
Speaker 15: in Collen, so everybody would always talk about the Walmart
45:15
Speaker 15: and so it's it's been kind of cool to kind
45:18
Speaker 15: of just see these different like you know, community hubs
45:22
Speaker 15: and things like that. And there we were at a
45:24
Speaker 15: I don't remember the name of it, but it would
45:26
Speaker 15: think it was in Clarksburg, and they.
45:29
Speaker 10: They went all out for Collens Market.
45:31
Speaker 15: Yes, and they went on out for it. They did
45:33
Speaker 15: like samples. They had this pasta sauce that somebody makes
45:36
Speaker 15: called Uncle Frankie's. And I'm telling you what, I'm not
45:39
Speaker 15: a big sauce person, and I just ate like that
45:42
Speaker 15: whole samples like he's just slammed. It was vodka sauce.
45:45
Speaker 15: It was so good I went in and bought two bottles.
45:47
Speaker 22: Well, the retailers have been getting into it too, so
45:50
Speaker 22: a lot of them dressing up for the eighties, and
45:52
Speaker 22: I mean it is fun.
45:53
Speaker 10: I like a good theme.
45:54
Speaker 4: Well, and I remember when I had you guys on
45:56
Speaker 4: the Midday Show and you brought me the costume, yeah right,
45:59
Speaker 4: and that Final Hours on Metro News television. So I
46:01
Speaker 4: was all out because I am from the eighties.
46:03
Speaker 10: Yeah you're me too.
46:06
Speaker 22: I was in a majority of my childhood was the eighties.
46:10
Speaker 2: Sing about your age, but you're younger than I am,
46:12
Speaker 2: so but.
46:13
Speaker 22: Younger, so we're in that same this one. Yes contribute. Yeah,
46:18
Speaker 22: but you see who's walking on crutches, don't you.
46:20
Speaker 2: That's right, right, that's right, Kim.
46:23
Speaker 22: I have no words, but it's been fun. We've enjoyed it.
46:26
Speaker 22: I think our players have the T shirts alone. I mean,
46:28
Speaker 22: I know, we got your shirt, we got you a
46:30
Speaker 22: press kit, but the T shirts are fantastic, so they're
46:34
Speaker 22: very proper.
46:35
Speaker 15: I do there is one thing I do want to stress.
46:37
Speaker 15: We have all these events that we're doing and all
46:39
Speaker 15: these promotions and all you know, Powerball and things like that,
46:42
Speaker 15: but I would not you know, I think it's safe
46:46
Speaker 15: that we always need to say play responsibility. You need
46:48
Speaker 15: to have fun playing and we love to have fun too,
46:51
Speaker 15: but you need to, you know, let's be smart about
46:54
Speaker 15: our decisions that we're making and playing.
46:58
Speaker 10: It only takes one ticket.
47:00
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's right.
47:01
Speaker 10: I mean, and they play within your means that fun.
47:03
Speaker 2: Yeah, and yeah, that's that's very good advice.
47:07
Speaker 10: It is good advice.
47:08
Speaker 4: Sticks away from Tima Day Island Show on five Adye

Speaker 4: Dot Net helping you understand your environment, because what you
47:25
Speaker 4: don't know can't hurt you.
47:27
Speaker 2: And one thing I think we.
47:28
Speaker 4: Need to talk about too, is we talk about all
47:30
Speaker 4: the fun that goes along with the Westernian Lottery. And
47:32
Speaker 4: of course we said play responsibly, we get that, but
47:34
Speaker 4: all of the good things that come out of the
47:36
Speaker 4: West Virginia Lottery and things that the lottery games fund
47:39
Speaker 4: and have been funding since the nineteen eighties, tourism.
47:43
Speaker 22: Tourism is funded through Western Jail Lottery, state park improvement,
47:46
Speaker 22: park improvement, seniors, nail on wheels, veterans education of course
47:52
Speaker 22: higher education, and for our universities and also for schools,
47:56
Speaker 22: for the School Building Authority. And you know, all that money,
47:59
Speaker 22: all the things that you see, there's touch points in
48:02
Speaker 22: every community that you can see that was lottery. And
48:06
Speaker 22: with forty years of doing that, I feel, you know,
48:09
Speaker 22: it makes us proud to work for the lottery because
48:11
Speaker 22: I like to think of us as fundraisers to a degree.
48:14
Speaker 22: Even though we don't determine where that money goes, we
48:17
Speaker 22: play a role in it.
48:18
Speaker 10: Yeah, and it does a lot of good.
48:19
Speaker 13: It does.
48:20
Speaker 2: It does a lot of good. I mean, it really
48:21
Speaker 2: really does.
48:22
Speaker 4: And I don't know when we've had the director we
48:25
Speaker 4: had acting director David Bradley in the past. Maybe you
48:27
Speaker 4: guys know this, what's the dollar amount and do you
48:29
Speaker 4: have a dollar amount like going back forty years?
48:31
Speaker 15: Thirteen point seven billion?
48:33
Speaker 2: Of course you do. You read thirteen point seven billion
48:36
Speaker 2: dollars has gone.
48:37
Speaker 15: Back and that number is actually probably even higher now
48:41
Speaker 15: because we just wrapped up our fiscal year twenty twenty six.
48:45
Speaker 22: So we're higher now than what it was when here
48:47
Speaker 22: last time because we finally have all the numbers.
48:51
Speaker 15: I think they're still trying. They're still working on that
48:53
Speaker 15: actual like, you know, because there's all kinds of math
48:57
Speaker 15: things that they might have hurt. But so yeah, so
49:00
Speaker 15: it's thirteen point seven billion. That numbers probably a little
49:02
Speaker 15: bit higher now and we it's just, I mean, it's
49:08
Speaker 15: kind of cool to see because you know, I was
49:10
Speaker 15: from West Virginia, raised here, lived here, went to college here,
49:13
Speaker 15: then then moved and went away and went out of state,
49:16
Speaker 15: and then getting to come back and work for this
49:19
Speaker 15: agency and kind of see things. And we're trying to
49:21
Speaker 15: do things to make people want to stay here, you know,
49:23
Speaker 15: make it a place people want to call home, and
49:26
Speaker 15: you know, add to its beauty and so it's kind
49:29
Speaker 15: of cool for me having that perspective to, you know,
49:34
Speaker 15: get to be proud of what we're doing.
49:36
Speaker 10: So and we have fun and we have fun.
49:39
Speaker 1: One thing fun.
49:41
Speaker 15: We're the dynamic duo.
49:42
Speaker 4: The Fun Girls. I mean, there's no there's no doubt
49:45
Speaker 4: about it. You guys always have fun. And and it's
49:48
Speaker 4: it's constantly changing with a lottery too. And I know
49:50
Speaker 4: that now that we're in everything's in the the I
49:53
Speaker 4: mean it's been this way for some time, but now
49:55
Speaker 4: it's with online stuff and that's that the eye games
49:58
Speaker 4: and all that stuff is really really taking of.
50:01
Speaker 22: It is and I think there's still probably a large
50:05
Speaker 22: portion of our players that maybe haven't taken advantage of
50:10
Speaker 22: of that level with loyalty. So just a reminder to
50:14
Speaker 22: scan your ticket, you know, sign up for the app,
50:17
Speaker 22: build the scandos tickets, build the points before you toss
50:19
Speaker 22: it the trash because we have drawings going on all
50:22
Speaker 22: the time.
50:22
Speaker 10: One that they can get into is that million.
50:24
Speaker 22: Dollar there's a million anniversary drama where you could get
50:28
Speaker 22: into that.
50:29
Speaker 15: As part of Yeah, as part of our fortieth anniversary,
50:32
Speaker 15: you know, they're giving up two point seven million in
50:34
Speaker 15: prizes on through the app.
50:36
Speaker 10: This year through the app through the Apple yep.
50:39
Speaker 4: Correct, And you can go to your app, to your
50:41
Speaker 4: app store, the website and yes, you can go to.
50:44
Speaker 15: I believe it's up back up on Google plan now
50:46
Speaker 15: and if it's not, it should be. But if you
50:48
Speaker 15: have an Android, you can go to our website and
50:50
Speaker 15: they have a step by step of how to download it.
50:53
Speaker 15: And then of course you can go to the the
50:55
Speaker 15: app store for an iPhone and it's very easy set up.
50:58
Speaker 15: And there's a twenty four hour help line as well,
51:01
Speaker 15: so if there's issues, people can call that and don't
51:04
Speaker 15: don't probably ask me because I'm not very technologically savvy
51:07
Speaker 15: and I'm not sure that I could really help you
51:09
Speaker 15: out a whole bunch.
51:10
Speaker 10: But we can get you to a point.
51:11
Speaker 15: We'll get you someone that can't help you.
51:13
Speaker 10: Listen to me, You're not the gap, but you know
51:14
Speaker 10: the gap we did, right, We know that?
51:16
Speaker 5: All right?
51:16
Speaker 2: Real quick, real quick, because we have start I wrap
51:18
Speaker 2: this up.
51:18
Speaker 4: I want to ask you, have there been any like
51:20
Speaker 4: really big winners in West Virginia here recently?
51:22
Speaker 10: I mean, ye, we just had there was.
51:23
Speaker 15: A yeah, we had so we had a two million
51:25
Speaker 15: dollar winter that just recently was claimed and we had
51:29
Speaker 15: a it was fifty thousand, and then they bought the
51:34
Speaker 15: power Play, so I think it went up to two
51:36
Speaker 15: hundred thousand, and that was actually on the app.
51:39
Speaker 2: Okay, there you go.
51:40
Speaker 4: Oh yeah, all right, So you guys are going to
51:42
